- 1:59Speaker 2: Right halfway there.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Half way is six. I'm so thrilled, though, keep hope alive. Okay, so,
- 2:07Speaker 1: before we get into our recap, which I just cannot
- 2:09Speaker 1: imagine is going to be more than five minutes, honestly serious,
- 2:13Speaker 1: everything that happened in this episode happened in the last episode. Yeah,
- 2:18Speaker 1: but before we get into it, did you have any
- 2:21Speaker 1: like overarching the takeaways?
- 2:24Speaker 2: That cake that Cody wanted so badly, that tree cake?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah, the eighty five hundred dollars cake.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Was looking awfully phallic to me.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I didn't even think about it.
- 2:35Speaker 2: It was very It looked like, you know, kind of
- 2:38Speaker 2: Jeff Bezos is a spaceship, very phallic.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yes, Oh gosh, we're being interrupted live on raccoon TV.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Our waiter is bringing me a cocktail. It's the best
- 2:50Speaker 1: interruption possible. Hi three D, Thank.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You, babe.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I do appreciate it. Thank you. You know I need
- 2:59Speaker 1: to drink to talk about these brows.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Bye. So your takeaway is that the tree is phallic? Yes, okay,
- 3:12Speaker 1: the tree cake.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I'm not gonna argue the point. I don't really know
- 3:15Speaker 1: that I have a takeaway other than, like I said,
- 3:18Speaker 1: I'm glad to be exiting season.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Six over it.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Season seven seems to have some good juicy things from
- 3:26Speaker 1: the lore from the Cannon, So we're going to be
- 3:29Speaker 1: getting into for example.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Oh God, my sister Wives closet and Robin. Yes, they
- 3:35Speaker 2: go and pitch it to investors because Robin is so
- 3:39Speaker 2: tired and overwork.
- 3:40Speaker 1: It works so hard for this family.
- 3:43Speaker 2: She literally goes on a whole pity party and she's like, Cody,
- 3:46Speaker 2: I want to have another baby, but like I can't
- 3:48Speaker 2: right now because I'm so busy with my sister wives closet,
- 3:53Speaker 2: Like we need investors. So then they go and pitch
- 3:55Speaker 2: it to investors and it's an absolute fucking fail and
- 4:00Speaker 2: they don't get the money obviously, and then Robin has
- 4:02Speaker 2: a full on meltdown. It's so good.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And also, isn't this the season where Mary wants to
- 4:07Speaker 1: go back to university?
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yes, which Robin also freaks out about.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I can't wait. So this is all going to be good.
- 4:14Speaker 1: We're going to conte Are we going to continue? Because
- 4:17Speaker 1: as we have all heard by now, I'm sure Sister
- 4:21Speaker 1: Wives Season twenty is coming back on September twenty eighth,
- 4:26Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, in just like a month, bet.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Literally a month a month be I feel like we
- 4:31Speaker 2: just finished season nineteen.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Oh by the way, if you are going to join
- 4:36Speaker 1: our Patreon, please know that we are going to be
- 4:37Speaker 1: looking at the trailer for Sister Wives and also the
- 4:40Speaker 1: mid season trailer for Plaithville, which is also crazy. But
- 4:44Speaker 1: that's on Patreon, so if you want to see her reaction,
- 4:46Speaker 1: check it out there. But like it's already coming back.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I feel like I feel like we were covering season
- 4:52Speaker 1: nineteen through June, right, yeah, it was June.
- 4:55Speaker 2: We definitely were, like for almost an entire year we
- 4:57Speaker 2: were covering that season. So if season twenty is that
- 5:00Speaker 2: long again, I'm gonna, oh God, pass away. But I
- 5:04Speaker 2: mean we're still gonna cover it. Obviously and enjoy it
- 5:06Speaker 2: because it's probably I don't know, I'm just fake psychic
- 5:09Speaker 2: predicting it's probably gonna be the final season.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean after watching the trailer, which again
- 5:15Speaker 1: we'll discuss on Patreon, but it kind of like looks
- 5:16Speaker 1: up there sewing up the last of the issues, i e.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Coyote Pass.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I would be shocked if we did another season
- 5:23Speaker 2: after this.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know, but I just can't it's so much.
- 5:26Speaker 1: So but we are gonna go right back into season
- 5:30Speaker 1: seven of our rewinds, and then when Sister Wives come
- 5:33Speaker 1: back for season twenty, we're going to pause. Oh my god,
- 5:38Speaker 1: oh my god, never ending, never entering Sister Wives. Okay,
- 5:41Speaker 1: so we're just gonna go right into it starting next
- 5:42Speaker 1: week because there was a tell all after this episode.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm just kind of like, we know that
- 5:48Speaker 2: they're lying. We know it's Tameron Hall, which is she's great,
- 5:52Speaker 2: but like we know that we're not gonna get her
- 5:54Speaker 2: for very many tailaws after this, and it's just like, eh, Okay.
- 5:58Speaker 1: So this is our last episod season six, and then
- 6:00Speaker 1: next week we're gonna get right into season seven.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I think so.
- 6:03Speaker 1: But we also have Seeking Sister Wives coming up, girl,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I know, and of September, we also have Special Forces.
- 6:10Speaker 2: All at the end of September.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You've seen any of the little clips that they're releasing
- 6:14Speaker 1: for Special Forces, A little bit looks like Cody's in
- 6:18Speaker 1: some sort of a face mask or a helmet, which
- 6:20Speaker 1: I only know it's him because I can see his
- 6:23Speaker 1: curly girl to tendrils. Yes, so it's coming and we
- 6:27Speaker 1: are going to cover that at least until he eliminates himself,
- 6:30Speaker 1: which I hear is after one episode I really hope.
- 6:32Speaker 1: So yeah, and then what else plaithfill still platfhil Yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 1: that's four shows, girl, We're gonna have to figure it out.
- 6:39Speaker 1: We will let you know what the schedule is going
- 6:41Speaker 1: to look like, but that's what we're planning on diving
- 6:44Speaker 1: into all of that, right.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean I got to watch Seeking Sister Wife
- 6:47Speaker 2: because Garrick and also mister Unemployed with the three slash
- 6:52Speaker 2: four wives or whatever you remember where he had all
- 6:55Speaker 2: of them and they sleep in the same bed together.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Oh the Denver Daddy, Yeah, all the thick white ladies.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Lay Danielle is gone, the last the most bros. Yes, Okay, no, eyelashes, eyelashes, eyelashes. Yes,
- 7:11Speaker 2: so she's gone, she's got them, and there's a new one.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Oh god, there's a lot going on in Seeking Sister Weibes.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I think we have to.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I mean, it's going to be a trade.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Wrede and thloth feel is really lit on and pop
- 7:21Speaker 1: in too. So anyway, again, we'll keep you posted and
- 7:24Speaker 1: I'll let you know what's going on with that. But
- 7:26Speaker 1: without further too, let's get into season six, episode nineteen
- 7:31Speaker 1: of Sister Wives and Idol, the commitment celebration. Let's roll
- 7:37Speaker 1: right through this.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I'm bored, and it's just like in true brown fashion,
- 7:41Speaker 2: it's gonna be chaotic or doing everything last minute.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I didn't running around scrambling.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I mean, and I didn't realize that, like with the
- 7:49Speaker 2: dresses that they were getting custom made by that poor
- 7:53Speaker 2: dress designer who's just like wanting to pull her hair out.
- 7:56Speaker 2: They asked her like three weeks in advance, which is
- 7:58Speaker 2: absolutely insane, to four dresses before this freaking commitment ceremony.
- 8:03Speaker 2: And lo and behold, Mary's dress is not gonna work out.
- 8:07Speaker 2: So she's got to go to some booty ass boutique
- 8:10Speaker 2: and buy a freaking lime green girl dress.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I know it was twenty fourteen. I know it was
- 8:18Speaker 1: another moment in time in terms of fashion, But I
- 8:22Speaker 1: don't know how Mary steps out and is in that
- 8:27Speaker 1: drab lime green dress with like a little white bolero
- 8:31Speaker 1: or whatever and a sash which accentuates her torso, her torso,
- 8:40Speaker 1: all of her torso. But like she comes out, she
- 8:44Speaker 1: looks in the mirror and her she's like, oh, a look,
- 8:46Speaker 1: stunning girl.
- 8:47Speaker 2: It was the most unflattering thing beautiful.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It was horrible, so bad, but still better than the
- 8:54Speaker 1: dress that Sam the designer was constructing. Poor beleaguered Sam
- 9:00Speaker 1: just trying to try to turn something out for these ladies.
- 9:03Speaker 2: And she had to bring her freaking mom to help Alfia,
- 9:06Speaker 2: who was such a saint, and she was just trying
- 9:08Speaker 2: to make something work. And Janelle's dress ended up looking
- 9:12Speaker 2: pretty great. She looked really pretty.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Janelle looked lovely.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I think the dress kind of nipped in her waist,
- 9:19Speaker 1: which is really looking good because she's been working out
- 9:22Speaker 1: with that guy at the gym for like a year now,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and I thought, like with the little fall extension she
- 9:29Speaker 1: had with her eyes, I'm like, holy, she's pretty. You're ravishing. Yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and the collar on her was so gorgeous as well.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I thought so too. I'm like, you like it. She's
- 9:40Speaker 2: like a jewel towne is.
- 9:40Speaker 1: That a jewel town? It is a jewel toe like,
- 9:43Speaker 1: it's pretty. And remember like the hot pink dress that
- 9:46Speaker 1: she wore to Christine's one of Christine's many engagement shindy
- 9:50Speaker 1: egs like also kind of a beautiful jewel tone. She
- 9:54Speaker 1: looked gorgeous then, and she looked gorgeous for the celebration.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Honestly, Janelle's the only one that looked good here because
- 10:00Speaker 2: Mary's dress is horrible. God, and then we have Christine's dress,
- 10:08Speaker 2: the Renaissance Fair Empire waste, totally freaking burnt orange.
- 10:15Speaker 1: A terrible color, a truly awful What are we doing here?
- 10:19Speaker 1: I don't know, but she's being a good sport and
- 10:23Speaker 1: at least it's a dress that Sam and Althea can
- 10:26Speaker 1: complete before the celebration, even though it looks like dog
- 10:30Speaker 1: shit horrible. It's really bad, but they're doing some last
- 10:33Speaker 1: minute alterations and Christina is being really nice about it,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and she does end up wearing it, which I'm personally shocked.
- 10:41Speaker 2: She should have got a different dress. At the Booty
- 10:44Speaker 2: Ass Boutique with Mary.
- 10:45Speaker 1: But she did she did not.
- 10:47Speaker 2: She thought she looked fine, I guess. And then we
- 10:49Speaker 2: have Robin's dress that was also a train wreck that
- 10:52Speaker 2: wasn't going to work out because it didn't fit her
- 10:55Speaker 2: properly or whatever. And then luckily Robin has dress that'll
- 11:00Speaker 2: work because it's like the day of the event or
- 11:02Speaker 2: something like their day before. And Sam's like, this dress
- 11:05Speaker 2: is not gonna work. You need to find an alternative.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Or do you have anything in your my sister wife's
- 11:10Speaker 1: closet that would suit this occasion, And Robin's like, as
- 11:13Speaker 1: it turns out, actually do have a dress in the
- 11:16Speaker 1: exact same color. Yeah, And then she goes and gets
- 11:20Speaker 1: it and she puts it on, and I think it's matronly.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I think she looks like a witch. But at least
- 11:24Speaker 1: it works for the event.
- 11:26Speaker 2: But it does like fit her properly. Yeah, It's like,
- 11:29Speaker 2: did you go shopping.
- 11:30Speaker 1: For that before? Of course she did.
- 11:32Speaker 2: So It's just like, you make these other women look
- 11:35Speaker 2: like fools getting these dresses designed that are just train wrecks, Like, really,
- 11:39Speaker 2: Janelle's is the only one that's decent, And I feel
- 11:43Speaker 2: bad for Sam. Because I feel like she tried really
- 11:45Speaker 2: hard and she didn't have enough time.
- 11:47Speaker 1: No, And I think she was working off the designs
- 11:50Speaker 1: that were presented to her by the women, and they
- 11:53Speaker 1: were terrible designs, and so she's doing the best she
- 11:56Speaker 1: can with a shit sandwich. Did you note the scene
- 12:01Speaker 1: where Janelle was getting her dress altered and Robin was
- 12:05Speaker 1: in the kitchen and she's like, oh my god, Janelle,
- 12:08Speaker 1: that makes you look really really thin. Yes, I did
- 12:11Speaker 1: know that, which I felt was interesting. I think I
- 12:16Speaker 1: want to give Robin the benefit of the doubt. I
- 12:18Speaker 1: think in her own way, and circa twenty fourteen, she
- 12:22Speaker 1: was trying to give a compliment while at the same
- 12:24Speaker 1: time continuing to highlight the fact that Janelle has been
- 12:28Speaker 1: struggling with her weight. But it was just also like
- 12:31Speaker 1: a needless comment. You could have just said, wow, you
- 12:35Speaker 1: look really beautiful. That looks lovely on you, but instead
- 12:39Speaker 1: the thinnest wife is telling the biggest wife that she's
- 12:42Speaker 1: looking really thin.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it felt like a mean girl comment.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It's a little bit.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Like the popular girl at high school is like.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, it makes you look so skinny.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it felt really rude to me.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Well, I was hoping that it wasn't okay.
- 12:56Speaker 2: I feel it, Robin the Witch, is we her whatever?
- 13:01Speaker 2: Because even Janelle was just like oh okay, thanks, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 2: because of just a couple episodes ago. Robin's like, oh,
- 13:07Speaker 2: I only got an Excel T shirt for you.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I don't know if about it.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I don't know if it's gonna figure. That's basically what
- 13:14Speaker 2: she's saying. Yeah, so yeah, I did note that. And
- 13:17Speaker 2: did you note the scene when Mary was going shopping
- 13:21Speaker 2: for addresses and Mary on the couch was talking about
- 13:24Speaker 2: how she needed her best friend Andrea to come help her,
- 13:28Speaker 2: and Christine's like, but we're supposed to be your best
- 13:31Speaker 2: friends and then Mary like awkwardly laughs about like, well
- 13:36Speaker 2: but you're not though, like I have Andrea. Yes, just
- 13:40Speaker 2: highlighting how they're not liking each other right now.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Yeah, And essentially Mary tells Christine because it's Christine who's
- 13:47Speaker 1: kind of making a joke about not being invited or
- 13:51Speaker 1: not being considered a best friend to Mary, like she's
- 13:53Speaker 1: making a joke about it, but like Mary's like, but yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 1: but like you don't want to shop and you don't
- 13:58Speaker 1: want to go with me, so oh that's why I'm
- 14:01Speaker 1: taking an actual friend, and I think it's great that
- 14:03Speaker 1: I have friends, yea, because none of you bitches actually
- 14:06Speaker 1: like me, nor do you Cody.
- 14:09Speaker 2: But it's like, I'm kind of watching these older seasons
- 14:11Speaker 2: and I'm like, Mary, you're kind of mean, though a
- 14:14Speaker 2: little bit like you kind of oust everybody else except
- 14:18Speaker 2: for Robin in these earlier seasons, Like I don't know,
- 14:21Speaker 2: I feel like Christine was also making a little bit
- 14:23Speaker 2: of a job being like, but where's supposed to be
- 14:25Speaker 2: your friends? I don't know. It just shows that even
- 14:29Speaker 2: at this time, the wives are not really liking each other.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I think the sole reason is because Robin's stealing Cody
- 14:35Speaker 2: from everybody, so they're all bitter and coming after each other.
- 14:38Speaker 1: But except for Janelle, she seems just fine.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Janelle's in her Renaissance era.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yes, but I do think that Mary, you really notice
- 14:47Speaker 1: starting season five and season six that her walls really
- 14:51Speaker 1: are up, Like she's talking a lot about where she
- 14:55Speaker 1: fits in the family and now that Leon's out of
- 14:58Speaker 1: the house, like where does that leave me? But at
- 15:00Speaker 1: the same time, you don't really see that contrasted with
- 15:03Speaker 1: attempts by Mary to be friends with this women. Yes,
- 15:06Speaker 1: they went to San Francisco, and yes it was a contrived,
- 15:09Speaker 1: produced event, but like we don't really see them hanging out.
- 15:14Speaker 1: We see Mary in like the periphery of Robin's life,
- 15:17Speaker 1: but not necessarily Robin in the periphery of Mary's life,
- 15:21Speaker 1: so like she's not trying, she's not doing anything. And
- 15:24Speaker 1: even at the end of this episode, not to jump ahead,
- 15:26Speaker 1: although this episode sucked, but I mean, they end the
- 15:29Speaker 1: episode saying this was great and all, we have the celebration,
- 15:32Speaker 1: but that doesn't mean the work is done. That doesn't
- 15:35Speaker 1: mean we're all fixed and we're in the Call to
- 15:36Speaker 1: Sac and everything's going to be great, And they seem
- 15:39Speaker 1: to acknowledge like there's a lot that they still have
- 15:41Speaker 1: to do. You can see it in Mary, and you
- 15:43Speaker 1: can see it in Christine's joke about not being her
- 15:45Speaker 1: best friend.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Definitely eloquently put. And then we I mean, the whole
- 15:52Speaker 2: episode is like just preparing for the commitment ceremony, and
- 15:55Speaker 2: it's just kind of like chaotic because the Browns do
- 15:58Speaker 2: everything last minute. He is trying to hang up lights
- 16:01Speaker 2: in the cul de sac and he's failing because he's
- 16:03Speaker 2: not a Roman.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Well, but he's also getting angry about it and it's
- 16:07Speaker 1: like he wants to have these big events and he
- 16:10Speaker 1: wants to show himself as like the patriarch who's coordinating everything,
- 16:14Speaker 1: and he's moving things around and he's taking care of
- 16:17Speaker 1: all of it. But at the same time he can't
- 16:20Speaker 1: handle it. And so just stringing the lights from each
- 16:23Speaker 1: of the four houses in the call de sac to
- 16:25Speaker 1: like this center point is stressing him out to such
- 16:27Speaker 1: a degree that he's snapping at his wives. Ye by
- 16:31Speaker 1: the time we even get to the celebration, he's like
- 16:34Speaker 1: over the top. He's having a terrible time during their pictures,
- 16:37Speaker 1: which we'll get to. And it ends up like his
- 16:40Speaker 1: younger brother Michael comes and finishes the lights for him.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I'm like, say, why why have we been doing this
- 16:46Speaker 1: for all of these days? Why did we need the
- 16:49Speaker 1: lights in the first place, in the middle of the
- 16:51Speaker 1: cul de sac when there were so many other things.
- 16:53Speaker 1: You've got Grandma's here, bonnies here, You've got Mary, You've
- 16:56Speaker 1: got her sister. They're making all this food, there's all
- 16:59Speaker 1: of the tables and decorations, but like you are setting
- 17:01Speaker 1: yourself apart from all of that to do this other
- 17:04Speaker 1: project so you don't have to help exact you're still
- 17:06Speaker 1: getting pissed off at everybody.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Well, and it's like this whole celebration is just too much.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Like you have seven hundred servings of food that you
- 17:15Speaker 2: have to make, that the wives have to make and
- 17:17Speaker 2: the grandmas have to make, and then all this furniture
- 17:19Speaker 2: being delivered, and then the lights, and then the photos,
- 17:22Speaker 2: and then the phallic cake and then the stupid dresses
- 17:25Speaker 2: and the sad ceremony. It's just like way too much.
- 17:28Speaker 2: And it's all for an image. It's all for the season.
- 17:32Speaker 2: It's it's a season finale of just like, look, we're
- 17:35Speaker 2: committing each committing to each other and to our family,
- 17:39Speaker 2: but we're hating each other at the same time. It's
- 17:42Speaker 2: just like it's all a narcissistic display. I think on
- 17:46Speaker 2: Cody's part to be like, yeah, I'm keeping it together,
- 17:49Speaker 2: but we know that he's not. Like behind the scenes,
- 17:52Speaker 2: shit's crumbling. And even in his mood him getting all
- 17:55Speaker 2: angry about the fucking lights, it's like, chill out.
- 17:58Speaker 1: It's not a big deal, and it didn't even need
- 18:00Speaker 1: to do it in the first place. But it's like
- 18:02Speaker 1: when they would take their big road trips, like when
- 18:05Speaker 1: they went to that Nauvoo or whatever in Illinois, Like
- 18:09Speaker 1: he was just getting progressively more and more upset. Although
- 18:12Speaker 1: wasn't this your idea. Wasn't it Mary who organized the
- 18:16Speaker 1: road trip in the first place, And wasn't it you
- 18:18Speaker 1: that blew the timeline? But like you're getting mad, You're
- 18:20Speaker 1: snapping at people. It's like, why do you do this
- 18:22Speaker 1: all the time? And this just kind of illustrates to
- 18:25Speaker 1: me as we close out this particular season that he
- 18:28Speaker 1: loves to tell us how much he loves his family,
- 18:31Speaker 1: But when it comes down to actually babysitting that babysitting,
- 18:34Speaker 1: but watching your child truly who's got a kidney infection
- 18:37Speaker 1: while your wives are in San Francisco, When it comes
- 18:40Speaker 1: down to just being present while you're having this celebration
- 18:43Speaker 1: that you've been talking about for the entire season, Like
- 18:46Speaker 1: you're not actually there, You don't actually love these kids
- 18:49Speaker 1: who are showing up and doing the best that they can,
- 18:52Speaker 1: Like you're telling them that they're going to be exiled
- 18:54Speaker 1: from the family if they act out on celebration day.
- 18:58Speaker 1: This is who you are.
- 18:59Speaker 2: It's crazy making dude, I just I couldn't deal with it. Honestly,
- 19:03Speaker 2: the whole episode kind of stressed me out. It was boring,
- 19:06Speaker 2: but it stressed me out just with all of the
- 19:08Speaker 2: planning of everything. It kind of reminded me of how
- 19:10Speaker 2: my family does things, because growing up, my mom would
- 19:13Speaker 2: always want to do these like big, grandiose like celebrations
- 19:17Speaker 2: and stuff. And for my mom, it kind of came
- 19:19Speaker 2: from a good place, just like wanting to give us
- 19:22Speaker 2: like a good experience and everything, but it always stressed
- 19:25Speaker 2: her out and she would get agitated and she would
- 19:28Speaker 2: snap at us. She wouldn't tell us we were exiled
- 19:30Speaker 2: from the family, but like she would get fucking annoyed
- 19:33Speaker 2: with us when she's trying to prepare everything, and she
- 19:35Speaker 2: would take on so much pressure to be like perfect
- 19:40Speaker 2: and to appear perfect and to put on this display
- 19:44Speaker 2: for everybody else. And I'm like, why it cares Like
- 19:47Speaker 2: we're just a family, we don't need to do this.
- 19:49Speaker 2: It's like I kind of felt how the older kids
- 19:51Speaker 2: were feeling, like what was it last episode when they're like,
- 19:53Speaker 2: this whole celebration is just for our parents, Like we
- 19:56Speaker 2: don't really care.
- 19:57Speaker 1: We're fad for the parents, it's for the people who
- 20:00Speaker 1: are showing up, and it's for us the audience. So
- 20:03Speaker 1: that they can try to convince us that they are
- 20:05Speaker 1: one working, functioning, happy family, which they are not. Right
- 20:09Speaker 1: and also it's because they have to create contents that
- 20:11Speaker 1: they continue to have this show. And it was actually
- 20:14Speaker 1: having me wonder as I was watching this, because I
- 20:17Speaker 1: did peak at season seven there's only eight episodes versus
- 20:21Speaker 1: this is the nineteenth episode of season six, and I'm
- 20:23Speaker 1: wondering when Cody heard from TLC and production that they
- 20:29Speaker 1: may be canceling the show, and then the lore is
- 20:32Speaker 1: that Cody negotiated to take a huge pay cut and
- 20:37Speaker 1: get a lot less in order to continue with the show.
- 20:39Speaker 1: When was that, Like what year was that was it
- 20:41Speaker 1: around this time? I'm just I'm kind of wondering.
- 20:45Speaker 2: That would be kind of an interesting theory because maybe
- 20:48Speaker 2: that's why they plan to do this big thing because
- 20:50Speaker 2: he thought it would be like really good content and
- 20:53Speaker 2: it would keep him on the show, Like just film
- 20:55Speaker 2: me doing a bunch of random bullshit in my cul
- 20:57Speaker 2: de sac and like keep me on the show DLC.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Maybe that's what it was.
- 21:02Speaker 1: And I'm wondering, like what the audience was thinking at
- 21:05Speaker 1: this time. And I know that there are some people
- 21:06Speaker 1: who listen and who watch who absolutely were watching from
- 21:11Speaker 1: season one, Like, what was the consensus in the audience.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Were people already onto them? Were people still thinking like, wow, polygamy,
- 21:19Speaker 1: they're just like us? Or could they they could they
- 21:23Speaker 1: feel the undertones? Could they sense that there was a
- 21:25Speaker 1: lot more going on? And was that why they continued
- 21:28Speaker 1: to watch. I'm just curious. I don't know, but I
- 21:31Speaker 1: just feel like this was so boring, so contrived, and
- 21:35Speaker 1: like the endless ceremonial, the sand thing, the tree thing,
- 21:40Speaker 1: the kids with their gratitude roses, the jewelry that Robin made.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I'm like, why are we why are we doing thing?
- 21:48Speaker 2: And like doing it for a bunch of guests and
- 21:50Speaker 2: stuff that we never end up seeing ever again.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, because it doesn't matter.
- 21:54Speaker 2: No, it doesn't matter at all, Like, let's just get
- 21:56Speaker 2: to the whole commitment ceremony, because everybody's getting everybody's rest
- 22:01Speaker 2: in their Sunday best. We have all of the well
- 22:06Speaker 2: I mean in their version of the Browns, Yes, yes,
- 22:09Speaker 2: we have furniture being delivered.
- 22:11Speaker 1: We have the cake.
- 22:12Speaker 2: We have all the food that the wives made and
- 22:15Speaker 2: prepared for everybody everyone shows up, all the guests. We
- 22:19Speaker 2: have Robin's beautiful, big backyard that was Redone for this
- 22:23Speaker 2: whole ceremony, and I'm looking at it and I'm like, damn.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Multiple thousands of dollars damn went into whatever they did
- 22:31Speaker 1: in that backyard. So are we sure that that was
- 22:33Speaker 1: her backyard? Because again they keep referring it to our backyard.
- 22:38Speaker 1: So is it like the shared space between Robin and
- 22:41Speaker 1: Mary or was that all just in Robin's backyard for
- 22:45Speaker 1: her home and for the value of her home.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I feel like I was watching this and I'm like,
- 22:50Speaker 2: I couldn't tell whose house it was, so I don't
- 22:53Speaker 2: know if like the fans snooped it out and found
- 22:56Speaker 2: out that it was Robin's backyard. And that's maybe why
- 22:59Speaker 2: they didn't say whose house it was, because they didn't
- 23:02Speaker 2: want people to know, Like they didn't want the fans
- 23:04Speaker 2: to know at the time that it was Robin's backyard
- 23:07Speaker 2: that got to be Redone. But I'm just like, looking
- 23:10Speaker 2: at it the aerial view of how big it was
- 23:13Speaker 2: and all the fake grass and everything, I'm like, dang, dude,
- 23:15Speaker 2: that was a lot of money and landscaping. And I
- 23:19Speaker 2: was thinking about the whole ceremony, right because remember when
- 23:21Speaker 2: they were going cake shopping and Cody was talking about
- 23:24Speaker 2: his big phallic cake dream, and Janelle was like worried
- 23:29Speaker 2: about how expensive it was going to because it was
- 23:30Speaker 2: gonna be eighty five hundred dollars. But then I'm looking
- 23:33Speaker 2: at all of the money that they spent on this
- 23:35Speaker 2: stupid party, and I'm like, you spent way more than that,
- 23:38Speaker 2: and you weren't worried about that.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Right, And you just know that if it did go
- 23:45Speaker 1: into Robin's backyard, or even if it was Janelle's or
- 23:48Speaker 1: Mary's or Christine's, the other wives would have had an
- 23:51Speaker 1: issue with that. Yeah, they would have said, well, this
- 23:54Speaker 1: is bettering that home. It's going to add to the
- 23:57Speaker 1: value and the ultimate equity of that home. How Robin
- 24:00Speaker 1: gets the full benefit of that, but I don't. So
- 24:03Speaker 1: you just know that that's a conversation that they would
- 24:06Speaker 1: have had. But like TLC is already on the fuck
- 24:09Speaker 1: shit with not like divulging what those conversations are. And
- 24:12Speaker 1: when we compare that with what is currently happening on
- 24:16Speaker 1: Platfill and all the conversations that are taking place, for
- 24:20Speaker 1: better or for worse, it's just like, I just wish
- 24:23Speaker 1: that they would have had the foresight to film some
- 24:26Speaker 1: of that and be honest, because that would have been
- 24:28Speaker 1: really great information to hear instead of focusing on the
- 24:32Speaker 1: sun ceremony and how Robin designed these booty ass trees
- 24:37Speaker 1: of life for the cuffs and the bracelets, like nobody
- 24:40Speaker 1: actually cares you, basic, bit Sorry, that's so bad. I'm sorry. Serious,
- 24:44Speaker 1: it's the truth, basic, and.
- 24:46Speaker 2: That's it's all about the appearances. It's all about like, no,
- 24:50Speaker 2: we're a happy family. No, we have no problems. No,
- 24:53Speaker 2: we love each other. We're imperfect like every other family,
- 24:56Speaker 2: but we're doing great. We have the family focus, like
- 24:59Speaker 2: we're we're working on it, we're in therapy. And it's like,
- 25:02Speaker 2: but you're not. Though there's obviously like a huge disparity
- 25:06Speaker 2: right from the get go, right from the beginning, and
- 25:09Speaker 2: it's because of Robin. It's just like crazy making to
- 25:11Speaker 2: watch this and Robin's booty ass jewelry, those cuffs that
- 25:16Speaker 2: she made, so everybody, I'm like, what is this? Who
- 25:19Speaker 2: would actually wear that? I thought she made like cuff
- 25:22Speaker 2: links or something. No, it was a giant faux leather
- 25:25Speaker 2: bracelet with a little tree of life on it. And
- 25:28Speaker 2: then I'm like how much money did that cost?
- 25:30Speaker 1: And did they end up marketing that on the website
- 25:34Speaker 1: from my sister wife's closet. Did they try and sell
- 25:37Speaker 1: that as a product? How much were they selling it for?
- 25:40Speaker 1: Like I just wasn't tuned in back then, yeah, to
- 25:42Speaker 1: kind of ask those questions. But yeah, like it was
- 25:44Speaker 1: all it was all cringe worthy, super much opinion.
- 25:49Speaker 2: And then when they have the family photos yea, and
- 25:51Speaker 2: Cody has his whole fucking meltdown because they do like
- 25:54Speaker 2: individual family photos and I don't know if they were
- 25:57Speaker 2: doing photos of like each kid, no, no, just just
- 26:00Speaker 2: just family.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Yeah, him with his wife, a specific wife and their kids.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah. And then when they get to the actual group photo,
- 26:07Speaker 2: Cody is like like on his wits end freaking out
- 26:11Speaker 2: because he's tired of smiling for the camera, and so
- 26:14Speaker 2: they're trying to gather all of the people together for
- 26:17Speaker 2: this one giant photo. And this is where we have
- 26:20Speaker 2: Cody like yelling for everybody to look down the lens
- 26:24Speaker 2: and then he has that weird, creepy like like demon
- 26:27Speaker 2: shake or something, and.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Then right and the smile.
- 26:30Speaker 2: My god, what a freak.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Yeah. I guess that's to communicate that he's really stressed out.
- 26:36Speaker 1: But I'm like, your kids are hip, Your kids are behaving.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I mean, they're just kids. They're doing what kids do.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Pid they're actually being well behaved in this moment, it's
- 26:45Speaker 1: you that's stressed out. It's you that seems to be
- 26:47Speaker 1: annoyed and bothered by your very normal family.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Well, I'm just like, how old are you at this point?
- 26:53Speaker 2: You're in your forties, Like learn to emotionally regulate, Like,
- 26:55Speaker 2: why are you freaking out like this over just some photos?
- 26:58Speaker 2: Maybe it was hot, I don't know, but I'm just like,
- 27:01Speaker 2: you're a freak.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you're weird.
- 27:03Speaker 2: And it just to me, like I said last week,
- 27:05Speaker 2: is just a window into how Cody actually is off camera.
- 27:09Speaker 2: He's probably not that nice of a dad. I know
- 27:11Speaker 2: I've probably said this on the pod before that. Oh,
- 27:14Speaker 2: it looked like Cody might have been a good dad
- 27:16Speaker 2: to the kids in the earlier seasons, and now I'm
- 27:18Speaker 2: kind of like, I don't know, he might have been
- 27:20Speaker 2: a little angry. You might have yelled at them too much.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Like I don't know what he was like.
- 27:24Speaker 1: But well, I think that we can see multiple aspects
- 27:29Speaker 1: of Cody, Like I can see in these earlier seasons
- 27:32Speaker 1: that he was present sometimes with his kids, that he
- 27:36Speaker 1: did love his kids, Like when he was walking around
- 27:39Speaker 1: to each of the children before they made their entrance
- 27:41Speaker 1: into the party, He's telling the littles that they look gorgeous.
- 27:45Speaker 1: He's calling out each of his children and saying, you
- 27:47Speaker 1: look really fly in that suit, like he's trying to
- 27:49Speaker 1: give them a pep talk. And I just I thought
- 27:51Speaker 1: that was a nice aspect of Cody. But from where
- 27:55Speaker 1: we're sitting in twenty twenty five, like these negative aspects
- 27:59Speaker 1: and atropy that are showing themselves in these earlier seasons,
- 28:02Speaker 1: especially as we progress, you can really see how they
- 28:06Speaker 1: have crystallized into this person that he is currently, Like
- 28:10Speaker 1: this angry, small, little narcissistic man. You can see like
- 28:18Speaker 1: twinges of that here in this episode. And then just
- 28:21Speaker 1: to know that he indulges that from that point on,
- 28:24Speaker 1: he allows himself to feel that more and more and
- 28:27Speaker 1: more and to place himself in that position of authority
- 28:31Speaker 1: and importance so that he then feels entitled to mistreat
- 28:35Speaker 1: his other wives and ultimately his children. Like how that
- 28:38Speaker 1: progress actually happens. You can see glimpses here, little glimpses,
- 28:42Speaker 1: but like the man he has become, what a shame.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Honestly a disgrace. And even in the moments when he
- 28:49Speaker 2: was telling his kids that they were beautiful, I just
- 28:51Speaker 2: felt was like just a response to how he was
- 28:54Speaker 2: appeared on the camera or how he appeared on the camera,
- 28:56Speaker 2: like it was just him love bombing his kids, like no, no, no,
- 28:59Speaker 2: I actually love you, and I don't want to exile
- 29:01Speaker 2: you from the family. Sorry for yelling at you on
- 29:04Speaker 2: national television like a fucking crazy person. You're beautiful though,
- 29:09Speaker 2: Yeah you're gorgeous, nice dress, yeah, handsome, Just crazy. And
- 29:13Speaker 2: then the whole stand ceremony thing, like again, I talked
- 29:17Speaker 2: about that last week. It's cursed because I did my
- 29:19Speaker 2: my family did that, and now we don't talk to
- 29:21Speaker 2: each other.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Yikes.
- 29:24Speaker 2: And they did it, and now they don't die to
- 29:26Speaker 2: each other. And then the signing of the mission statement
- 29:34Speaker 2: was just so cringe.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I don't care. I don't care either, And furthermore, I
- 29:39Speaker 1: don't think they care.
- 29:40Speaker 2: No.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I know Janelle doesn't care, I know Mary is uninterested.
- 29:43Speaker 1: I know those kids don't care. Like nobody cares. And
- 29:47Speaker 1: in four or five years time, you're all gonna be
- 29:50Speaker 1: exploding as a family.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Just crazy making. And then we have the kids though
- 29:56Speaker 2: that was kind of sweet where they had this little
- 29:59Speaker 2: surprise for the family to basically show the parents that
- 30:02Speaker 2: they actually did care about the ceremony a little bit.
- 30:05Speaker 2: And so they have each one of the kids say
- 30:07Speaker 2: what they're grateful for for their family.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Which was nice. And I liked watching Hunter on the
- 30:13Speaker 1: couch with the rest of the older kids, and he's
- 30:15Speaker 1: talking about how it is really wonderful that they're all
- 30:19Speaker 1: in proximity to one another, they're in this cul de sac,
- 30:22Speaker 1: they're back together again, and that this celebration for him
- 30:26Speaker 1: really does symbolize like we're getting it back on track,
- 30:29Speaker 1: like we're a family again. And I feel sad, yeah,
- 30:33Speaker 1: because it doesn't actually end up coming to fruition, but
- 30:37Speaker 1: you can see that the kids actually are hopeful and
- 30:39Speaker 1: they're glad and they're playing with each other, and it's sad.
- 30:42Speaker 2: It's really sad, and it's like crazy to see how
- 30:47Speaker 2: much the separation really did affect the entire family. Like
- 30:51Speaker 2: they don't talk about it too too much, but every
- 30:53Speaker 2: once in a while they'll make a comment about like
- 30:56Speaker 2: how when they were in their rentals, like their family
- 30:58Speaker 2: really suffered and really struggled and really broke and now
- 31:03Speaker 2: they're in the cul de Sac and so they're really
- 31:04Speaker 2: working on things, like it did a lot of damage
- 31:08Speaker 2: to be separated just for two years for such a
- 31:11Speaker 2: cohesive family unit and everything. And then now that they're
- 31:14Speaker 2: in the coulda Sag things will be okay for a
- 31:17Speaker 2: little and then they go back to flag stuff again separated,
- 31:19Speaker 2: and then that's ultimately what breaks up the entire family.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Yep.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Just crazy.
- 31:24Speaker 1: You know, when they're talking about getting back together, what
- 31:28Speaker 1: they're trying to recapture is Lehigh, yes, because the last
- 31:31Speaker 1: time these kids were together, that's what it was, yep,
- 31:35Speaker 1: you know. And then the cameras came, and then fame
- 31:38Speaker 1: came and they moved to Vegas and they had the
- 31:40Speaker 1: rentals and so in their little childlike spirits, they're hoping
- 31:44Speaker 1: that this is them coming back to what they had
- 31:47Speaker 1: in Lehigh. And that's what makes it really tragic to me,
- 31:51Speaker 1: is because the cameras changed Cody, yep, and the money
- 31:55Speaker 1: changed Cody and Rob and everything has been changed as
- 32:00Speaker 1: soon as those cameras went up, as soon as they
- 32:03Speaker 1: relocated and left their way of life like it was
- 32:06Speaker 1: never ever going to be the same. And you know,
- 32:09Speaker 1: like as a child as you get older and then
- 32:12Speaker 1: you leave, maybe go to university or you get your
- 32:15Speaker 1: first apartment or whatever. But it kind of strikes you
- 32:17Speaker 1: that first Christmas or whatever, or that first year that
- 32:20Speaker 1: you're away, like it's never going to be what it
- 32:24Speaker 1: was before, right, And there's something so lonesome about that. Yeah,
- 32:29Speaker 1: and yet in this snapshot, this moment with Hunter on
- 32:32Speaker 1: the couch, he's like, we're back together and it's awesome,
- 32:34Speaker 1: it's going to be great, and he really is grateful. Yeah,
- 32:37Speaker 1: but twenty twenty five, I think he hates his dad.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Oh I would, and I don't blame him at all.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, if I was one of these older kids,
- 32:44Speaker 2: I would be so fucking resentful.
- 32:46Speaker 1: You sold me a dream, Dad. You told me that
- 32:49Speaker 1: we were a certain kind of family.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yep.
- 32:51Speaker 1: You told me that you loved us.
- 32:52Speaker 2: What happened, and you raised us all as we were siblings.
- 32:56Speaker 2: And like all of the siblings do keep their relationships.
- 32:59Speaker 2: It seems like for the most part, you know, there's
- 33:01Speaker 2: some that don't talk to each other or whatever, but like,
- 33:04Speaker 2: for the most part, they're all still a family. But
- 33:07Speaker 2: to have their dad and to watch their dad just
- 33:10Speaker 2: like slowly walk away from them all and like slowly
- 33:14Speaker 2: abandon them all for Robin and her kids.
- 33:17Speaker 1: After subjecting them to this endless parade of things like
- 33:21Speaker 1: the commitment ceremony. Yes, these symbols of what a family
- 33:24Speaker 1: should be, while underneath all of those symbols there's nothing.
- 33:28Speaker 1: There's you spending all your time with Robin. There's you
- 33:30Speaker 1: neglecting them and hurting their mothers. You know, it's like, exactly,
- 33:34Speaker 1: it's a mind fuck. It would have had to been
- 33:36Speaker 1: such a mind.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Fuck, definitely. So it's just really weird and sad to
- 33:42Speaker 2: watch this commitment ceremony because we know that it's all bullshit.
- 33:46Speaker 2: You know that it turns to shit in just a
- 33:48Speaker 2: few years.
- 33:48Speaker 1: And it feels in this moment like they're performing. It
- 33:52Speaker 1: feels this moment like is any of this real?
- 33:54Speaker 2: Though?
- 33:55Speaker 1: Yeah, of course you have Robin. As she's reading her
- 33:58Speaker 1: portion of the mission statement, she can hardly get through,
- 34:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, I get emotional when I talk, like
- 34:06Speaker 1: it's just I'm like, you're performing. Yes, It's like I
- 34:10Speaker 1: don't buy.
- 34:10Speaker 2: It, no, and I don't think anybody does. I don't
- 34:13Speaker 2: think the viewers bought it even back then, because I
- 34:15Speaker 2: don't know if I was watching this I would never
- 34:17Speaker 2: have believed Robin from the get go. Okay, she's been
- 34:20Speaker 2: a snake in my opinion. But like, I don't know,
- 34:23Speaker 2: if you wanted to like commit to the family again
- 34:27Speaker 2: and you wanted to do something to like celebrate all
- 34:30Speaker 2: of your love and like be together, you could have
- 34:33Speaker 2: taken like a big family trip and could have like
- 34:36Speaker 2: camped out on the beach or something and like made
- 34:38Speaker 2: it a really cool, like family centered trip, or I
- 34:43Speaker 2: don't know, just get together and it didn't have to
- 34:46Speaker 2: be produced with all the furniture and the dresses and
- 34:49Speaker 2: the phallic cake and the decoration.
- 34:51Speaker 1: The witnesses, yes, the people showing up to celebrate you.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Right, it didn't need to be that. It could have
- 34:57Speaker 2: just been a giant family get together or like a
- 35:00Speaker 2: big barbecue in the middle of the cul de sac
- 35:02Speaker 2: where everybody's just like playing around and we all hang
- 35:05Speaker 2: out together. You could have rented a big family house
- 35:08Speaker 2: where you all stayed together, kind of like the Christmas
- 35:10Speaker 2: that they.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I was just thinking about that first Christmas.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Yeah, like you could have done something like that and
- 35:14Speaker 2: it would have been so much more meaningful and authentic.
- 35:18Speaker 2: But instead you put on this stupid display with the
- 35:21Speaker 2: mission statement and the sand ceremony to try and convince
- 35:25Speaker 2: the audience that you love each other when we know
- 35:27Speaker 2: you don't or.
- 35:29Speaker 1: They're starting not to. Yeah, it's all falling apart, it is. Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 1: and so thus concludes season six. There was a lot
- 35:38Speaker 1: going on. I mean here again, this was like the
- 35:40Speaker 1: nineteenth episode. I think in season six we went to Sadonah. Yes,
- 35:43Speaker 1: like we've had therapy with Nancy, the baby talk. We've
- 35:47Speaker 1: had a lot that we've had to go through. So
- 35:49Speaker 1: I'm excited to get to season seven. I'm really excited
- 35:54Speaker 1: to get to Leon being awful to marry. I'm not
- 35:57Speaker 1: sure what season that is. That's the Catfish and or after.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I am dying to get to the Cabish Bitch. So like,
- 36:06Speaker 1: we're just gonna keep going. Yeah, we're gonna keep covering
- 36:08Speaker 1: these rewinds, and we thank you guys for joining us. Now, Beatrice,
- 36:12Speaker 1: is there anything else that we need to say to
- 36:15Speaker 1: these beautiful raccoons before we get up on out of here.
