- 0:01Hello. Welcome to he's hop.
- 0:02But something's off with me. Just Joey T as.
- 0:06You're listening to this podcast.
- 0:08Whenever this comes out, whichever Thursday it is.
- 0:11I will be on a cruise ship. Well, I will probably.
- 0:16Be on a cruise ship? We'll see.
- 0:17If I make the cruise ship, I give a lot of gay cruise advice
- 0:22to a lot of people. I've got my website
- 0:24justjoeyt.com that's like A blog and I have a bunch of cruise
- 0:29advice articles. On there and one of the key
- 0:33pieces of. Information that I give that I'm
- 0:35not taking myself for this particular.
- 0:38Is that if you need to travel to where the port is wherever the.
- 0:42Cruise is going to set sail. You should get there the day
- 0:47before because usually cruise ships set sail.
- 0:51In the afternoon 345. PM something like that.
- 0:55And if you fly in, you know the morning of on the off chance
- 1:00that your flight gets. Delayed or canceled and this
- 1:04year I think. Ever since epidemic, and
- 1:07especially this year with the. Weather and all the issues.
- 1:10Of air traffic control that we hear about getting your flight.
- 1:13Delayed or canceled is. More often it's a more frequent
- 1:17occurrence that it used to be like a few years ago.
- 1:20If your flight gets cancelled and you can't easily get a
- 1:24different flight to get to your cruise.
- 1:26The ship is not going to wait for you, so if your cruise sets
- 1:29there at 5:00. And you're not on board by 4, it
- 1:34would just go but. Ships don't tend to wait.
- 1:36It's not like. I don't know those stupid people
- 1:40that try to. Jam.
- 1:42The doors open on subways and trains while their friends are
- 1:45still, you know, I hate that I was in Chicago and someone that
- 1:50just like this group of people. They were trying to catch the
- 1:53train. I was getting off and I was
- 1:54going down the stairs already. This group of people that are
- 1:57trying to catch the train, one of them was faster than his
- 2:00friends went up to the door and it the doors already beeping the
- 2:04trains already. Beeping like doors are closing
- 2:07and this guy just holds open the door and his.
- 2:11Two or three friends have we made there were clearly were not
- 2:14the stair climbing type and I don't approve of that.
- 2:19I don't like it when people hold the doors.
- 2:21It's jamming the doors. I think that they ran a study
- 2:25some city. Ran some study about public
- 2:27transit and it's something where.
- 2:31People holding the doors. It's.
- 2:33One of the top reasons why trains go out of.
- 2:36Service or trains get delayed, so just don't.
- 2:38I don't like that. Anyways, yeah, usually I give
- 2:41the advice. I'm gonna fly.
- 2:43We need to fly to where the crew sets sail.
- 2:46You should get there the night before, just in case your flight
- 2:49gets later. Cancelled because it's a real.
- 2:52Risk if you find the morning of your flight gets really.
- 2:54Delayed or it gets cancelled and you don't get there when you're
- 2:57supposed to be on the ship. There's a deadline the ship.
- 3:00Just goes and you pretty much have just wasted how many
- 3:04thousands of dollars you spent booking that cruise and you're
- 3:07not on board. And there are no refunds if
- 3:09that's why you can't. Get on the ship.
- 3:11So I always recommend get there the day.
- 3:14Of the night before. Book a random hotel wherever.
- 3:18So that when you wake up in the morning, yeah, you know you're,
- 3:22you're ready to. Go and start your cruise
- 3:23vacation. This time I am not taking that
- 3:27advice myself, so I'm going to. I'm taking three flights between
- 3:33to get from Los Angeles to Rome in Italy where the cruise.
- 3:37Is going to set sail? Yes, there are direct flights.
- 3:40I'm very aware of this as a. Frequent flyer.
- 3:43But I don't have the same. I don't have the day job
- 3:46anymore. I've got the side.
- 3:48Hustles bring in a smidge of money and I did have a ton of
- 3:53points to burn from. Like all the traveling I did
- 3:56before, so the. Other consideration was it's
- 4:02going to be an overnight flight. When I get to Rome, I need to be
- 4:05in Rome in the morning. The I need to be on the ship by
- 4:074:00 PM that day on Monday. And I looked at all different
- 4:12flights that were going into Rome, and the fight I have is
- 4:18the flight I have. It's going to get to Rome around
- 4:20like 8830. M which is good if it's delayed
- 4:23like a little bit, but like two or three hours I still get there
- 4:26by. Like noon, which is like still
- 4:28lots of time to because that flight is a red eye, fights 8
- 4:35hours. Across the Atlantic Ocean to get
- 4:37from the US to Europe, I decided, well, I need to.
- 4:42Sleep right. It's no red eye fight, overnight
- 4:44fight. Once I get there, I need to go
- 4:46straight to the. Cruise ship I should sleep and
- 4:49you know it's more comfortable to sleep if you have a nicer.
- 4:52Seat So I was looking for Oh, are there some business class or
- 4:55premium economy options? I can book with points and the
- 4:59only reasonably priced award ticket I could.
- 5:02Find that would give me premium economy for the flight.
- 5:07Across the Atlantic for that eight hour flight, is that if I?
- 5:11Do 2 connecting flights from here in Lai will go to Chicago.
- 5:17Also a red eye. The night before And then after
- 5:21that, I'll go from Chicago to Dulles.
- 5:26Airport in the Washington DC area.
- 5:29And then I will have to kill like 6 hours at Dulles airport
- 5:32before I board. My flight, the 8 hour red eye.
- 5:36To go to Rome. So very complicated.
- 5:39There's method to the madness. But that's why I'm taking three
- 5:43flights to get from LA to get to Rome, it's.
- 5:46Because I wanted to get a nicer seat, a prime economy seat and
- 5:50the there was some slightly cheap fares, award fares with.
- 5:53Points that I was able. To book.
- 5:56And this was the most feasible out of all the.
- 6:00Crazy itineraries. When you buy a award?
- 6:03When you. Book an award fair first paying
- 6:05cash money for a flight the. Itineraries that you are, you
- 6:12have the option to choose from. Is more limited with points, so
- 6:16obviously there are nonstop flights from LA to Rome.
- 6:19But that's how many hours is that?
- 6:2312 hours, maybe 14 hours. I don't want to sit in economy.
- 6:28No one was sit in economy for 14 hours.
- 6:31So it was kind of a benefit for me to basically just get.
- 6:35From the West Coast to the East Coast.
- 6:37Which is a domestic hop. I don't know.
- 6:40Five hours maybe, give or take. And then to go from one of the
- 6:45big airports on the in the Northeast DC.
- 6:49New York or whatever to hop. Across the Atlantic, that's
- 6:51about 8 hours. So when you can't fly a premium
- 6:56cabin, and most people can't, it's nicer.
- 6:59Sometimes that nonstop flight sounds amazing on paper.
- 7:03You get there in the shortest amount of time.
- 7:05But if you have to do like. 14 hours in economy that's a lot of
- 7:08time to do economy. So when I can't, when I have to
- 7:11fly economy, sometimes I intentionally take the one stop
- 7:15the connecting flight so that I. Can get off the plane and
- 7:20stretch my legs, and even if you're within the airport and
- 7:23you don't leave security. At least it's not this tiny
- 7:26little seat that is. 17 inches wide, you've got no wiggle room,
- 7:31You're smelling the farts from the guy next to you, so that's
- 7:34still. A little bit better anyways, in
- 7:35a couple of weeks when I'm back from the cruise.
- 7:38Definitely will let. Everyone know all the stories I
- 7:41have. From that cruise or how it went,
- 7:42this is going to be a more relaxing cruise relative to all
- 7:45the other cruises. I've done the Mediterranean
- 7:48cruise in Europe that Atlanta. She puts on sushi a little bit.
- 7:53More mellow relative to the other ones.
- 7:55There's still. A party almost every single day
- 7:58on the cruise, but a lot of people stop at the ports.
- 8:03It stops at some. Ports in Italy, it stops in
- 8:06Monaco, it's stopping in Ibiza overnight actually and I think
- 8:09I'm a get off at Ibiza because I've never.
- 8:11Been there before and there's a lot of clubs obviously, but
- 8:13it's. Going to be more mellow cruise.
- 8:16I I don't know that many people. I don't know a ton of people
- 8:20that are going on this cruise. I know some, but this is not
- 8:23like the big party cruises that I.
- 8:26More often. Go on so it'll be interesting.
- 8:28I'll have an update for everyone when, two or three weeks from
- 8:31now when I'm back. The other interesting thing that
- 8:35happened, I met quick mention this briefly was outsetting for
- 8:39my US citizenship interview and test and that was.
- 8:45Recent. I just got that.
- 8:47Done and I passed. So I am now technically a U.S.
- 8:52citizen, so it's interesting. I didn't fully read up the full
- 8:57process. The naturalization process was.
- 8:58Obviously, I reviewed what the full.
- 9:02Ages ago when I was looking into applying but for this part of
- 9:06it. Lately I've just been focusing
- 9:08on studying for the Civics test, so there's. 100 questions about
- 9:12U.S. history and the US government and voting and all
- 9:15that kind of stuff. They pick 10 questions and you
- 9:19have to get six of them right. And I was I I knew the answer.
- 9:24To all 100 questions, I kid you not definitely.
- 9:28Even driving to the the to the test it was like.
- 9:33A 45 minute drive. I downloaded some YouTube videos
- 9:37that I played back. Like the audio only played it
- 9:39back in the car where they basically.
- 9:43Read out the questions verbally in some random order and you
- 9:45just answered it because it's actually.
- 9:46A verbal test is not a multiple choice, is not on paper, and I
- 9:51didn't otherwise knew or studied or read about the other parts I
- 9:55was. Just so focused on, OK, you have
- 9:57to pass. The knowledge test.
- 9:59They have a short test on your ability to read and write
- 10:03English. I was like.
- 10:04OK, no problem. And everything else is not
- 10:08really something you need to study for or the.
- 10:10Other parts of the interview, and I didn't know that they
- 10:15were. Able to make a decision on your
- 10:19application like on the spot right at that moment.
- 10:22I thought you going for the test to interview whatever it is.
- 10:26They send you away and then like 12 months later you get a letter
- 10:31that says oh. You need to do something else
- 10:33now or like, Oh yeah, you. Approved or denied or blah blah
- 10:35blah blah blah. I don't think that you can do
- 10:37like same day just get. Everything done, so going into
- 10:41it, I got there on time. It's pretty smooth, saw the
- 10:45officer. Did all the testing and
- 10:47everything. She asked 6 questions and
- 10:50because I got six questions right or right, she didn't ask
- 10:52me anymore. But yeah, it was.
- 10:54Flying colors that all the sudden paid off and she does her
- 10:59thing. The English part of the test was
- 11:02like really easy. And then she motions behind her
- 11:07and she says usually we will review.
- 11:10Your immigration, your full file, and she motions to.
- 11:14Some like Manila folders behind her.
- 11:16She's. Got this like massive file
- 11:18cabinet behind her and there's like another table behind and
- 11:21there's some Manila photos like you see in movies or TV or
- 11:24whatever. Manila folders full of papers.
- 11:27And there were a couple there are a few of.
- 11:29These Manila folders behind right behind her with papers in
- 11:33it. These folders probably each had
- 11:35like. 102 hundred pages in them. They were like an inch, inch and
- 11:41a half thick or something like that.
- 11:43She motions behind her and says usually we get a.
- 11:47Printed copy of your immigration file like those behind me, and
- 11:53that's what we go through to. Review everything about you to
- 11:57make a decision as to whether we can approve your.
- 12:00Application, but in your case yours is digital so.
- 12:04I need to send in a request to whoever.
- 12:08Your mom to like, get the digital.
- 12:11Copy of the immigration file so like I don't have with me.
- 12:15Therefore I can't make a decision right away as to.
- 12:18Whether we can approve for application and I thought like
- 12:21okay like I. In my head, I was thinking, I
- 12:23didn't expect you to do it on the spot.
- 12:25I expect you would just get back to me in 6 to 12 months, which
- 12:29is like everything to the government, so slow, right?
- 12:31Especially in the US, it's like so inefficient.
- 12:33So I was like, OK, sure, whatever.
- 12:34That's what I was suspecting anyways, to just come back later
- 12:37or have to like just wait for a letter.
- 12:39Then she said. But we do need to but you pass
- 12:42it. Interview.
- 12:43That's fine. Everything looks good.
- 12:44We do need to take your photo though, so like take this piece
- 12:47of paper, go to like. Go down the hall to this other
- 12:50room and then they'll take your photo.
- 12:52So I did that. Walked down this hallway and
- 12:53went to this other room and I sat there.
- 12:58And I was just just. Kind of waiting area and I
- 13:01thought I was just going to get my photo taken.
- 13:03Literally two or three minutes later, random person pops out of
- 13:06the door in the waiting room and he says Joey, the officer is
- 13:13waiting for you. Could you go back to like?
- 13:16The room that you were in before and I'm like, oh okay whatever,
- 13:19like do whatever. You guys tell me so went back.
- 13:23To the room I was in before, where I was had the interview
- 13:25with the officer. And she tells me.
- 13:29So when I requested your digital.
- 13:31File we actually came through right away, so I was able to
- 13:34review it. Just now and like your
- 13:37application is. Approved, you can do the same
- 13:39day naturalization ceremony that's downstairs.
- 13:43So that part I was not expecting and I didn't know there was like
- 13:47such a thing that I didn't know the government could be this
- 13:49efficient about something as big as granting citizenship to
- 13:54someone. I was like very, very impressed.
- 13:57So. She sent me downstairs with a
- 14:00different piece of paper to like the first.
- 14:02Floor and there was this completely separate area where a
- 14:08bunch of other. People were waiting.
- 14:09They're like go to this particular.
- 14:11Window in this particular room walked up there.
- 14:15Got my photo taken with? Yeah.
- 14:17Got my photo taken again. Wasn't looking good by the way,
- 14:20but whatever is. Some a photo that no one will
- 14:22ever see was at the window talking to the person she's
- 14:28typing, typing. I'm just standing.
- 14:29They're so awkward when you go up to.
- 14:32Some sort of counter or kiosk or whatever.
- 14:35And the person is working on your request like whatever it
- 14:39is. And they're just on the
- 14:42computer. And obviously, like the
- 14:43computers are slow and they have to type up a bunch of stuff.
- 14:45They're type to type, click, click, click, blah blah blah.
- 14:48And you're just standing there and there's like.
- 14:51Nothing for you to do. I didn't wanna whip on my phone
- 14:53randomly because I felt like there weren't any signs that
- 14:56says you couldn't use your phone.
- 14:59I've been in four different rooms in the USCIS office by
- 15:03that time and I kept on looking. There aren't any signs that says
- 15:07you could not use your phone. But some places you can't use
- 15:10your phone when you go through password control, when you're
- 15:13crossing the border or something.
- 15:14A lot of times when you're lining up for the password
- 15:15control line in a lot of airports, there are signs that
- 15:18says you don't use your phone and don't use cameras.
- 15:22So I was looking for those signs because I was thinking, isn't
- 15:24this it? Felt like a situation where
- 15:27maybe you shouldn't use your phone and you shouldn't use the
- 15:29camera, but there weren't any of those signs.
- 15:31But I'm standing up at this kiosk.
- 15:33She's doing her. And I'm just like standing there
- 15:37and it's like, I've got nothing to do.
- 15:40I can't rip up my phone and just like be on Reddit or Twitter or
- 15:43whatever like I usually would. Be because I'm bored.
- 15:46But she does her thing anyway. She does her thing and then
- 15:51there's like a stack. Of envelopes.
- 15:55That's kind of on the side of her desk.
- 15:58And I can see that they. Are identical looking.
- 16:01They're like prepackaged things for her to give out.
- 16:05And I didn't notice it until she went and grabbed one of them.
- 16:08There's like a stack of like 3 or 4 of.
- 16:11These things identical looking, very crisp new envelopes and on
- 16:16top there was a little American flag.
- 16:19So when she was done her thing, she grabs one of those things
- 16:22and she gives it to me. I forgot exactly what she said,
- 16:26but like it was basically like. The welcome packet, like the
- 16:28congratulations packet. Now you're a U.S. citizen.
- 16:31There's a little American flag and she's like, saves, blah
- 16:34blahs, oh. Like, OK, thank you.
- 16:35And she tells me to wait over in the.
- 16:38In the waiting area, Yeah. So that was like it was very
- 16:44easy. I was surprised how easy it was.
- 16:46So the final step of the whole process is to take the.
- 16:51Oath of Allegiance. So I was in the waiting area for
- 16:56like. Just a few minutes, this officer
- 16:58comes out. It's like a what you might call
- 17:01it. Like a conference type area.
- 17:06So there's like a bunch of chairs and there's a.
- 17:07Podium up at the front. And what I didn't notice until
- 17:10the very end was there's a giant American flag.
- 17:14Like, a huge one. Just like.
- 17:17Sitting there by the podium, I noticed the podium.
- 17:19I noticed all the seating areas. I noticed all the TV's and those
- 17:22all the tiny little mics that were like the conference mics
- 17:24that were hanging down from like the ceiling.
- 17:26I did not notice this giant American flag.
- 17:28Everything I noticed in that room, except for that flag,
- 17:31until the very end when I was leaving, I was like, oh, it's a
- 17:32giant American flag right by the podium there.
- 17:35So this officer. Comes out and he reads out a
- 17:39bunch of people's names, like eight or ten of us.
- 17:42And though this is actually like.
- 17:44The ceremony that you have. As like the final step of like
- 17:49the nationalization process. So he takes us.
- 17:52Through verifies our names, gives us the official
- 17:57certificate. Of nationalization that you get
- 17:59that's like an official. Government document that proves
- 18:02like you went through the process, you're now a citizen.
- 18:04And we repeat after him the Oath of Allegiance.
- 18:08I hope I'm saying that right. I think it pretty sure.
- 18:10The Oath of allegiance. We repeat that to him.
- 18:12We say all the things and then everyone's like woohoo.
- 18:14And then he says like, you want photos.
- 18:17He does this all the time, I'm sure.
- 18:18So he's like, you want photos? I could take your photos.
- 18:22There's like 8. Or ten of us.
- 18:23And I didn't need the photo. I'm glad that.
- 18:28I'm happy to be a. Citizen I'm happy to be American
- 18:31now. I'm happy to have gone through
- 18:33the process. I think it's great that it went
- 18:35so smooth, but I don't need the souvenir.
- 18:38I don't need the photo. I'm not really a photo person,
- 18:40so everyone was like lining up to.
- 18:44Take the photo. Me, me, me, me, me.
- 18:45And I saw people like go up, go there holding, holding that
- 18:47little American flag that they were given earlier and like
- 18:50their certificate and they're standing beside the giant
- 18:52American flag. And then the officer person is
- 18:55getting the fluencing their selfies.
- 18:57And I like just discreetly walk off.
- 18:59Yeah, so it was a surprisingly easy process.
- 19:05I just thought it would be. Lengthier and clunkier, but
- 19:10yeah, kudos. To the USCIS, the.
- 19:13One thing, I took some notes when I was there on a couple of
- 19:17things when I first got there. You have to go through Ashley
- 19:22airport style security but it's like a.
- 19:24Government building. So you have to take everything
- 19:27off to cover your electronics. They have to.
- 19:28X-ray, everything, whatever. And afterwards I was about to go
- 19:33to the elevators, but I saw. The sign for the bathroom, and I
- 19:36was thinking I should probably go to the bathroom first in case
- 19:39there's whatever, I just just. Get out of the way.
- 19:42Went to the bathroom and I was in there.
- 19:45When I walked into the bathroom. There's this guy just.
- 19:48Standing around not doing anything, he looks like he was
- 19:53waiting. It's so.
- 19:54Weird. When people are in the bathroom,
- 19:58a public bathroom just stand around, not doing anything.
- 20:01I see this. More than it should happen.
- 20:06To be honest, it wasn't a big. Bathroom at first I thought.
- 20:10At home, maybe he's waiting for a stall, or he's waiting for his
- 20:14kid to pee. Something like that.
- 20:16There were a lot of kids. There, he kind of, sort of look
- 20:18like he could be a dad. I went in there, went to urinal,
- 20:21did my thing and then afterwards I went to wash my hands and he
- 20:26was standing where like the wash.
- 20:28Base in the area is. And when I got that second look,
- 20:32when I went to wash my hands at him, he clearly looked like he.
- 20:35Wasn't waiting for someone he was just like.
- 20:38Loitering, basically. So I start washing my hands and
- 20:42I'm like, look over. And then I see that he's
- 20:45charging his phone because there's an outlet where the.
- 20:49Counter is with all like the wash basins.
- 20:51I'm thinking the amount of people that I see.
- 20:56Charging phones at the airport, for example.
- 20:59Thinking why? Why can't people just have USB
- 21:02battery packs? It's not some new invention.
- 21:05You can get battery pack to stick onto the back of your
- 21:08iPhone. These days, the Magsafe ones you
- 21:11can. So many airplanes have power
- 21:14outlets in. All the rows now just have a USB
- 21:20battery pack. I have one.
- 21:21I almost never use it though. Honestly, the USB battery pack
- 21:24that I carry. There's always in my luggage
- 21:26like a sizable. One you can charge my laptop
- 21:28twice you can charge. My phone five times or
- 21:31something. And I almost never use it.
- 21:33I'm very good at charging everything, all my electronics
- 21:38before I go. To the airport anyways, This guy
- 21:41though he was. Loading I looked over and
- 21:43because yeah, he's. Got his phone plucked into a
- 21:46power outlet. On the on the on the other side
- 21:51of the. Counter in the bathroom.
- 21:53So he's just hanging out in a bathroom charging his ethnic
- 21:56phone if you were to, if you had a day where you had to go.
- 21:59To the USCIS office. Or like a government building to
- 22:03do something this. Wouldn't you even charge your
- 22:05phone first before you when you woke up that day it was. 10:11
- 22:10AM if it's 11. M And your phone's already dead.
- 22:14Seriously. So it was so weird.
- 22:17I don't. Want to see people randomly hang
- 22:18out in the bathroom? You just look like you just.
- 22:23Look like a. Not you look like you're up to
- 22:27no good. We just standing Where Lord?
- 22:28Right in the bathroom. Like it looks so awkward.
- 22:30It looks so weird, like just. Don't do it, it it.
- 22:35I don't know. Anyways, charge your phone.
- 22:38That's the lesson right there. And I was in a bunch of
- 22:42different rooms, so you have go. To one room, they check in and
- 22:47they send you to a different room.
- 22:48You wait and they call you into a third room.
- 22:50I was. I've been in like 4 or five
- 22:52different rooms. When I threw up the whole
- 22:55process the 2nd. Room I was in was just a waiting
- 22:59room. It's purely just.
- 23:00For waiting, it's a large waiting room and there were kids
- 23:05in there and it's dead. Silent There's no background
- 23:07music. It's very, very.
- 23:08Quiet, it's Yeah. And there were this.
- 23:13This family, there's quite a few families there, which is fine.
- 23:15It's one family there and they've got two kids A.
- 23:19Boy and a girl like younger like. 3 year old and like 6 year
- 23:23old or something. The kind of run around.
- 23:25Like, these are the age when kids just run around, that
- 23:28they're not very obedient, so there's like a roped off area.
- 23:34In like the back corner and the kids kept on running into the
- 23:38area and I can't tell. If this person was the nanny or.
- 23:44The wife because the husband was with.
- 23:49Lawyers, I think because there are these two people in suits.
- 23:53With the husband who's not like super dressed up, but these
- 23:56other people. That were sitting with the
- 23:57husband were like. Very like full on business
- 24:00attire, looks like immigration lawyers or something like that.
- 24:04And there's the woman with the two kids, like, you know, like a
- 24:08few chairs down. I can't tell if it's like.
- 24:10The wife or the nanny looks a little bit young to be a wife
- 24:13anyways, but the woman was like looking after the kids and like,
- 24:17not. Being that effective, at one
- 24:20point the younger little girl ran, ran off.
- 24:24And this is a government building.
- 24:25All the doors have this little keypad for like with a with a
- 24:29key with a keypad. With you can put in a passcode
- 24:32or pin to open the door like every single door also.
- 24:34Have that this girl runs up to the thing, starts pressing
- 24:37buttons or the screen on it, the screen lights up and it starts
- 24:39beeping and and the woman honestly didn't seem like she
- 24:44cared that much about setting off an alarm or whatever.
- 24:47I don't know. This is maybe if I had kids.
- 24:52I would need to adopt my mom's way of.
- 25:00Raising kids in this specific. Situation we are not allowed to
- 25:04like, run around. I don't want my kids to run
- 25:06around in public. I get that kids are very
- 25:09difficult. I don't think you need to be a
- 25:12parent to appreciate how much work it takes.
- 25:09Raising kids are very. To look after and raise kids, I
- 25:19think it's like, pretty obvious. But I would just have.
- 25:24Not as much tolerance compared to maybe a lot of other parents
- 25:28regarding my kids. Running around in a public
- 25:31setting, obviously the. Immigration office is no fun for
- 25:35everyone when you're forced to wait for like 3045. 60 minutes
- 25:39and you have no control. Government buildings are boring,
- 25:42even for adults, so I can appreciate for these kids.
- 25:46Yeah, that's not it. It they were just.
- 25:49I think I would probably have brought.
- 25:54Some iPads for my kids brought some headphones and let the iPad
- 26:00help babysit the kids. I I think there are parents that
- 26:03don't want that for the kids. They don't want the kids to be
- 26:09on the technology, on the screens and everything all the
- 26:11time. I don't think I'm that parent, I
- 26:13would just load up. Games, cartoons, whatever.
- 26:17Throw it onto the iPad. Look, government.
- 26:19A government building. It's F and boring you.
- 26:24Need to bring some sort of entertainment for your kids?
- 26:26Either you provide the entertainment or they're going
- 26:29to make entertainment, and I would rather me provide the
- 26:31entertainment than kids making entertainment on their own,
- 26:35which is pressing random buttons on keypads that might set alarms
- 26:39off running randomly around annoying other people being.
- 26:43Loud and yelling, running behind ropes into which the areas
- 26:47where. They shouldn't be.
- 26:49Kids will make their own entertainment when they're
- 26:51bored. Unless you entertain them.
- 26:53So I would. Grab some iPads, play some
- 26:57videos. I don't know, rub some whiskey
- 27:01or. On their gums, I don't know.
- 27:03And yeah, set them off. You can't expect kids to wait
- 27:0640. 5 minutes. I don't know.
- 27:07This family though, was waiting longer.
- 27:09When I went to this waiting room, there were, I don't know,
- 27:1415 other people in there. And I was thinking this must be
- 27:19a long way. I'm must be after all these
- 27:22people, but I. Went in there, I waited 15
- 27:26minutes and my my name got called before all these other
- 27:29people. There was one.
- 27:30Was one other person, one or two other people that they came into
- 27:34the building around the same time they checked.
- 27:36I saw them in the check in my earlier checked in around the
- 27:38same time as me. We were in the other waiting
- 27:41room around the same time and all my names got called the same
- 27:44time. So these other people, I don't
- 27:45know what they were doing. But anyways, I am a U.S.
- 27:48citizen. Now I need to get a passport.
- 27:50And I think the most. Problematic part about passports
- 27:54is getting the photos. When I was in Canada to get the
- 27:57Canadian passport photo, the first time I did it, they
- 28:00rejected the photo because they had.
- 28:02So many nitpicky rules about the passport photo with the.
- 28:08Size and the background and millimeters between your head
- 28:13and your. Chin and the edge of the photo
- 28:14or all that kind of stuff. I looked at the rules for the
- 28:19passport for the US. Just curious.
- 28:21And they don't seem super restrictive but.
- 28:24That's the next thing I'm will need to do.
- 28:26I should probably just go and get that US password.
- 28:29All right, next week I'm gonna go record next week's podcast
- 28:33now, but I'm recording two podcasts.
