- 0:05>> Elizabeth: August 12, annod Domini
- 0:081585. My dearest
- 0:11Elizabeth, the voyage has concluded
- 0:14and we find ourselves upon the shores of this new
- 0:17world. The air is
- 0:19thick with unfamiliar senents. As we
- 0:22disembarked from the Tiger and her sister'ships
- 0:26we encountered the native Akquascagog people,
- 0:29guided by a local named Mantea.
- 0:32They seemed indifferent to our arrival, their
- 0:34ways simple and their interests
- 0:37fleeting. It was
- 0:40during this time that a handsome silver
- 0:42goblet belonging to Grenville caught my
- 0:45eye. An
- 0:48opportunity swift as a viper presented
- 0:50itself, promising a future of comfort
- 0:53and elevated standing for us in this
- 0:56untamed land. In the ensuing
- 0:59bustle, the goblet became mine.
- 1:03Grenvilles subsequent fury at its disappearance fell
- 1:06upon the natives. Despite the denials,
- 1:09he retaliated with brutal force. Their
- 1:12village now a smoldering testament to his
- 1:14anger. A regrettable incident,
- 1:17perhaps, but one that establishes our
- 1:19dominance effectively between us.
- 1:22Elizabeth, this misunderstanding serves
- 1:25a dual purpose. The goblet is
- 1:28secured, awaiting its opportun reappearance.
- 1:31And these locals provide a convenient scapegoat
- 1:34for any future acquisitions
- 1:37that might benefit our cause. A, win win,
- 1:40wouldnt you agree? This land is
- 1:43ripe for the taking, and a little fear
- 1:45will ensure our safety as we build our
- 1:48fortunes. We are now bound for
- 1:50Romanoke island to establish our settlement. A more
- 1:53defensible position, I am told. Keep this
- 1:56news close to your heart, my love, and dream of the
- 1:59riches that await us in this new world.
- 2:02I shall write again once we are settled.
- 2:05Yours eternally,
- 2:07Richard.
- 2:41>> Skylar: A hefty dip in the road bounces the entire
- 2:44bus, forcing you awake as you look out the window to
- 2:47see the campsite ahead of you. You look back, hoping to get
- 2:50a glimpse of Man's Harbor Bridge. But the dust coming off the
- 2:53back wheels and the distance you have already made onto Roanoke
- 2:55island stop you from seeing even the ocean waters.
- 2:58The brakes of the bus let out a horrid
- 3:01screech as it finally comes to a stop outside of a
- 3:04large cabin simply labeled Mess Hall.
- 3:07>> Skylar: Algh Team. we're here.
- 3:09>> Skylar: The eccentric owner of the summer camp shouts from the driver's
- 3:12seat of the bus as he looks back at all of you and
- 3:15the other workers with a proud smile, obviously
- 3:18waiting for your reactions to his park.
- 3:21As you grab your supplies, waiting patiently for the hulking
- 3:23mass that is Braydn Big Guy
- 3:26Barnes, who takes up a majority of the bus'center
- 3:29aisle, you inevitably manage to grab your duffel bags
- 3:32and step off the bus. Before you is
- 3:35a stretch of fairly flat land that spans
- 3:37out until meeting the ocean which surrounds
- 3:40you on every side. One with any
- 3:43amount of understanding of land masses would easily be
- 3:46able to identify this as an island. The
- 3:49concet sound of the light waves crashing against the
- 3:52shoreline around you is rather soothing. You
- 3:55lean to your left and see a variety of stone structures
- 3:58peeking out from the grass and sand that make up
- 4:01the ground of this campsite. The occasional
- 4:04tree pokes up and spaces out the landscape, but they are
- 4:07few and far between. As you turn yourself
- 4:09towards the area from which you came, you can see the
- 4:12dirt path disappearing into a dense forest behind
- 4:15you, the eastern border of this camp, which,
- 4:18if you were to follow the pathway that vanishes within the brush and
- 4:21leaves, would lead you to the very bridge that will return
- 4:23you to the mainland. At the end of your week,
- 4:26you take a deep breath of the familiar ocean air,
- 4:29a welcome relief from the stuffy bus.
- 4:32>> Skylar: ill give you some quick cabin assignments before
- 4:34assigning work. lets plan on meeting right back here
- 4:37in 10 minutes.
- 4:39>> Skylar: Willie gives you all a friendly smile before reading off
- 4:42cabin names and pointing in the general direction of where
- 4:45his employees can find them.
- 4:47>> Skylar: Ophelia and Hazel. The two of you will be over in
- 4:50the peach cabin.
- 4:51>> Skylar: You watch as the two girls from your group begin to load up their
- 4:54supplies. Hazel hoists a comically large
- 4:57backpack over her shoulder, stuffed to the brim with all
- 5:00sorts of objects, some of which peek out from the flaps and
- 5:02pockets of her bag, revealing pens of every
- 5:05color, notebooks, canisters of sunscreen, and
- 5:08in excess of other necessities.
- 5:11Ophelia, on the other hand, tosses a black sling bag
- 5:14over her shoulder and with her other hand
- 5:16extends the handle of a black travel suitcase with
- 5:19neon blue accents, exactly the color scheme
- 5:22that she herself features across her outfit,
- 5:25makeup, and even her hair. She mumbles something
- 5:28under her breath, I told you to call me Onyx.
- 5:31But Willie seems to not hear her say this,
- 5:34and the two girls head off to the nearest cabin that barely
- 5:37pokes out from behind what you assume to be some sort of nurses
- 5:40station, given the big red cross symbol featured on
- 5:43the exterior wall.
- 5:44>> Skylar: U Braydn and u Soapy
- 5:47Joe. Is that correct?
- 5:50>> Cameron: Yeah, you could you just call me.
- 5:51>> Skylar: Joe if you want.
- 5:52>> Skylar: Oh, thank goodness. Bradeden, Joe, and Justin,
- 5:55the three of you guys are going to be in the Apple
- 5:58cabin.
- 5:59>> Skylar: Willie gestures towards the northern side of the island, near
- 6:01what looks like a beach with a pair of poles which you
- 6:04assum are for some sort of volleyball nets and such.
- 6:07Braydn's muscle bound arm, reaches down and grasps the
- 6:10handles of his sports duffel, seemingly weighing
- 6:13100 pounds at least, and lifts it like a feather
- 6:16over his head. He begins to stride forward, but
- 6:19pauses for a moment as he raises and lowers the bag as if
- 6:22testing the weight. He holds it out in front of him to
- 6:25find a second green and orange duffle is clipped
- 6:27to it with a carabiner. The hulking figure turns around
- 6:30with an annoyed look on his face, which is met by the cheeky grin
- 6:33of Justin, who offers a chuckle and a shrug.
- 6:36Braydn holds it out with a grunt, communicating he is
- 6:39not planning on carrying the significantly smaller man
- 6:42supplies for him. Worth a shot. Justin
- 6:45chuckles as he unclips the bag, which falls straight to the ground,
- 6:48bringing Justin with it. He dusts off his camo
- 6:51patterned cargo pants and takes the straps of
- 6:54his bag in both hands. He lets out a somewhat pathetic
- 6:57whine as he tries to pull it off the ground and
- 7:00sets it atop his scrawny left shoulder. The weight of the bag
- 7:03practically pulls him down, but he narrowly catches himself before
- 7:06awkwardly trudging along after Brayden towards the apple
- 7:08canbin. what about you Connor? Or
- 7:11should I say so be Joe? Tell me about what you look like
- 7:14and your accoutrements.
- 7:17He's.
- 7:18>> Cameron: He's a bit of a husky guy, you know, he's like mid,
- 7:20like early 20s. He's got the scraggly kind of
- 7:23beard. He's got the cargo pants with all kinds of
- 7:26pockets becausez he's a, he's a bit of a shutterbug, you know. So he's got to keep
- 7:29the extra lenses or the camera batteries.
- 7:32Extra ones. Those and his cargo pants
- 7:34with him. He's got he's got a little camera bag
- 7:37inside the camera bag. He's got a digital camera.
- 7:40>> Skylar: Nice.
- 7:40>> Cameron: An infrared camera for those. For those nighttime.
- 7:43Yeah, the nighttime stuff. Especially since he's like into the
- 7:45cryptozoology.
- 7:47>> Skylar: Truead.
- 7:47>> Cameron: and he's got a digital sound recorder as like a kind
- 7:50of like external microphones.
- 7:52>> Skylar: Right.
- 7:52>> Cameron: Kind of stuff. He's also got a metal detector and an
- 7:55electromagnetic field detector. So
- 7:58no, nothing is getting undetected. That's right
- 8:01around this man's. And he's got
- 8:04a.32 revolver because.
- 8:07>> Skylar: Because it was an option they
- 8:10str to revolver what they is or did
- 8:13he like take it from his parents?
- 8:15>> Cameron: He like, you know, if you're going out like
- 8:17look into the crypto zoology kind of stuff you
- 8:20got. You gott stay prepared.
- 8:21>> Fatty Lumpkins: You got Got a take draf.
- 8:24>> Skylar: I don't.
- 8:24>> Fatty Lumpkins: I'm so.
- 8:25>> Cameron: He's honestly surprised that they let him.
- 8:27>> Cameron: On the bus with.
- 8:28>> Skylar: Oh, wait, dude. Yeah. So when you guys are at the state or. It wasn't
- 8:31even a station. It was literally just like a meetup spot. Like the
- 8:34guy that put out the ad, Willie, he's like, yeah, okay, I'm gonna
- 8:37pick you guys up at 6am M at the spot.
- 8:39And you showed up there. There was no check
- 8:42of any kind. You just got you guys on the bus and drove you
- 8:45out to the island.
- 8:46>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah.
- 8:46>> Skylar: Sounds really sketchy.
- 8:48>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah, he might have done background chec.
- 8:50>> Cameron: The background checks ahead of time.
- 8:52>> Skylar: Sure.
- 8:52>> Cameron: You know, he was just a consolidated spot.
- 8:54>> Cameron: We are working with children.
- 8:56>> Skylar: Well, you would hope. Those are just here for
- 8:59setup.
- 9:01>> Cameron: We're not gonna work at the camp?
- 9:03>> Fatty Lumpkins: No, we're like, oh, I, thought.
- 9:04>> Cameron: We were gonna work at the camp.
- 9:06>> Skylar: A week long thing. Yeah, sorry.
- 9:09Sorry to ruin your expectations.
- 9:11>> Skylar: I don't know.
- 9:11>> Skylar: Maybe.
- 9:12>> Cameron: Actually, you know what?
- 9:13>> Skylar: Maybe there's an opportunity that you can.
- 9:14>> Cameron: I was gonna say some people work.
- 9:16>> Fatty Lumpkins: Just for the setup while other people do both. Sure, sure.
- 9:19>> Skylar: I think that would be an option. Let's call it an option.
- 9:21>> Fatty Lumpkins: He said that's what my character is doing.
- 9:24>> Skylar: Trial run. He's like, I only got like two
- 9:26positions available. I've hired all the other people that we need to
- 9:29run things and only got two available. So whoever my two favorites
- 9:32that did the most work, will go on
- 9:35to continue at the camp.
- 9:38>> Fatty Lumpkins: Interesting hiring process.
- 9:41>> Skylar: and lastly, we have, Martin
- 9:44Fresh and, Greieve Gershwin. the two
- 9:47you guys are going to be bunking in the Fig cabin.
- 9:50>> Skylar: The camp owner points a finger off past the cabin that
- 9:53the girls just headed off to, and you spy a second one nestled
- 9:56behind it. just nearby the steepled
- 9:58chapel building. would you guys like to
- 10:01describe a little bit about what kind of gear you guys are
- 10:04holding on to and carrying with you?
- 10:06>> Cameron: I'll start.
- 10:07>> Fatty Lumpkins: my guy, he. He he's got
- 10:09khaki cargo pants on. Oh,
- 10:12okay. and he's got like a regular shirt on, like a
- 10:15T shirt. And then over top of it, he's got like a khaki vest on
- 10:18that matches the cargo pants. And he's got lots of
- 10:21pockets for.
- 10:23>> Cameron: Whatever he may need.
- 10:24>> Fatty Lumpkins: And he's wearing a baseball cap that just says hat
- 10:27on it. sponsor.
- 10:30And then he's got the comically. The
- 10:33comical.
- 10:34>> Skylar: Just large dollop of sunscreen on his
- 10:37nose. Got him to take that Notse.
- 10:39>> Fatty Lumpkins: And he grabs his m backpack, which is also
- 10:42the same matching color as his outfit. Like, he bought like
- 10:45a. Like a. Like a set for like a camping
- 10:48set.
- 10:48>> Cameron: It's like an amp outfit set, but.
- 10:50>> Fatty Lumpkins: It came with the backpack as well. So he's got two.
- 10:53>> Cameron: Two straps on it, and he tosses.
- 10:55>> Fatty Lumpkins: It on his back and he's standing there
- 10:58like he's ready to go.
- 10:59>> Skylar: It sounds like a great niche market, like
- 11:02full sets of camping gear and
- 11:05gear. Yeah. That all have a, color scheme that matches.
- 11:08>> Cameron: I think they'd be like, whose S10 is this? Oh,
- 11:11look, that guy matches the 10
- 11:15paty O.
- 11:16>> Skylar: How. What is Greieve Gershwin? what's he hauling
- 11:19with him?
- 11:19>> Fatty Lumpkins: So he likes to travel pretty light
- 11:22just so he can drop everything and jump after
- 11:25the nearest snake or gate or. Or whatever. So
- 11:28he's just got his. Right, we're just gonna. With the
- 11:31really short khaki shorts. Yeah, the really short
- 11:34pea Makes everybody uncomfortable. Exactly. And then he's
- 11:37got the. The matching button up shs and the bandana. And then
- 11:40for equipment, he just has a pretty light
- 11:42little knapsack type thing. Just one of those braw string
- 11:45knapsacks.
- 11:46>> Skylar: Okay, so you. Nobody has a fanny pack? Just to
- 11:49clarify.
- 11:50>> Fatty Lumpkins: Oh, no, he's no nerd. He. I have a fanny
- 11:52pack.
- 11:53>> Skylar: Weren't AF freh as a pany pack.
- 11:54>> Cameron: It also matches.
- 11:56>> Skylar: And you've got an epipenn in there.
- 11:57>> Fatty Lumpkins: Just in case expired.
- 12:00>> Skylar: And.
- 12:00>> Cameron: Well, he doesn't have an epic pe.
- 12:02>> Fatty Lumpkins: In it, but he does have his.
- 12:03>> Cameron: Pocket knife in it, a multi tool.
- 12:05>> Fatty Lumpkins: In it, and a, bandages.
- 12:06>> Cameron: Multiple bandages.
- 12:08>> Fatty Lumpkins: His sunscreens in it.
- 12:09>> Cameron: Do I need to keep going or.
- 12:10>> Skylar: It's pretty good. With that being said, grieve Gershwin
- 12:13when kind of. I'm scared to
- 12:16ask, but what kind of equipment does this gar hunter wannabe
- 12:19guy have on his presence?
- 12:21>> Fatty Lumpkins: So having hunted near and wide,
- 12:23he does come prepared with
- 12:26a first aid kit full.
- 12:28>> Skylar: Oh, good.
- 12:29>> Fatty Lumpkins: Various medicine, mostly antivenoms.
- 12:31>> Skylar: that makes sense. Sammon.
- 12:32>> Fatty Lumpkins: No, those are all refrigerator. You can't have those
- 12:34areers. You can,
- 12:37but, beer best. He is. He does walk
- 12:40around with a net launcher. Oh, okay. And
- 12:43in dire situations, when it is his
- 12:46life or the others, he does carry a survival knife.
- 12:48>> Skylar: I kind of like the idea that, going back to your character
- 12:51creation, I like the idea that he's very,
- 12:54peaceful and pacifistic when it
- 12:57comes to animals. But if people get in a way, he's like,
- 13:00oh, no, no, if you mess with the animal, I'm gonna.
- 13:03>> Fatty Lumpkins: I'm gonna shoot you.
- 13:04>> Skylar: Or in this case, stab you or whatever. I don't know. Anyway,
- 13:07I'll leave that up to you. So you all spend the next 10 minutes
- 13:10unpacking your m materials that you brought along
- 13:13before heading back to the Mess hall, where Mr. Willie is
- 13:15waiting with a small breakfast of donuts,
- 13:18chopped fruit alongside with cups of water and
- 13:21orange juice to wash down the food all.
- 13:23>> Skylar: I hope you all settled in nicely.
- 13:25>> Skylar: He says with a beaning smile.
- 13:27>> Skylar: There's plenty of work to be done in this short time that spans
- 13:30this week, but, I figured I give you all a little bit of background
- 13:33on. On the camp and the island that we,
- 13:36Before we get started on everything.
- 13:40>> Skylar: Ophelia lets out a groan of annoyance. Hazel,
- 13:43who sits next to her, is smiling ear to ear, excited to
- 13:46be educated.
- 13:47>> Skylar: I'm sure that amidst your history
- 13:49classes.
- 13:50>> Skylar: Or teachings, he gives Barton Fresh
- 13:53a glance.
- 13:54>> Skylar: You may have heard about the Lost Colony.
- 13:57It was a group of early American settlers that had come
- 14:00to this island. Well, their leader,
- 14:03a man named John White, decided
- 14:06to rush back off to England on a supply run shortly
- 14:09after they landed. And unfortunately, he was delayed
- 14:12for three whole years before he could get back to
- 14:15this island. And unfortunately, once he did, he
- 14:18found the settlement was completely abandoned. With not a
- 14:20soue insight, all that was left behind was the
- 14:23word Croatoan scratched into a wooden beam.
- 14:27Well, needless to say, this American
- 14:29mystery has intrigued myself and other
- 14:32historians for decades. So when I m
- 14:35commissioned the development of this part, I was
- 14:37incredibly excited at the idea of digging up some cloth
- 14:40and pieces of the mystery. And we most
- 14:43certainly did. we found artifacts, tools,
- 14:46letters, and so much more left behind by those early
- 14:49settlers and those that came after.
- 14:52>> Skylar: Mr. Willie beckons for you all to follow him as he
- 14:55leads you across the floor of the mess hall to a
- 14:58protrusion in the north corner where a sectioned room has
- 15:01been set up as a small museum. Various
- 15:03glass cases line the walls and sit on pedestals
- 15:06labeled with a variety of information highlighting the native
- 15:09tribds of the area and the facts about the early
- 15:12settlers.
- 15:13>> Skylar: Become a bit of a collector, Willie.
- 15:15>> Skylar: Admits with a slight andbarrassed chuckle.
- 15:18>> Skylar: I've even gone as far as to reach out to colleagues over
- 15:21in England.
- 15:22>> Skylar: Who have been able to procure me.
- 15:23>> Skylar: Some letters in ship'logs and other records
- 15:26from therein left behind by those who were connected to these early
- 15:29settlers that came to Roanoke. Almost all the
- 15:32documents I have Found are here.
- 15:35there are a few others that I have in my personal office
- 15:38over in the lighthouse, which, I might add, is,
- 15:41the only structure on this campsite that is off limits to all
- 15:44of you. So just be aware.
- 15:46>> Skylar: so what happened to him? Justin chimes in from
- 15:49the back of the small crowd you've all created at the entry of this little
- 15:52museum room.
- 15:53>> Skylar: I beg your pardon?
- 15:55>> Skylar: The Lost Colony or whatever. Did you figure out
- 15:58what happened to him?
- 15:59>> Skylar: Oh, well, we've certainly found
- 16:02a lot of clues, but nothing in the form of concrete
- 16:05evidence per se. most signs point to the
- 16:08likeliness that the settlers chose to integrate with the
- 16:10nearby Croatoan tribe.
- 16:12>> Skylar: Seems a little anticlimactic. Ophelia
- 16:15Scugffs.
- 16:16>> Skylar: perhaps. But even leading up to the colony's
- 16:18disappearance, there was a plethora of trials and
- 16:21tribulations and drama that was going on and.
- 16:24>> Skylar: What?
- 16:25>> Skylar: Well, I'll leave all that to, you guys to explore yourselves
- 16:28amidst these clues. there are all sorts of hints and
- 16:31answers hidden among this evidence here in this museum.
- 16:34So during your free time, I encourage you to swing
- 16:37back through here and see what you can find. And who
- 16:39knows, maybe you'll find something that I missed. But,
- 16:42anyways, I think that's a good transition to discuss the
- 16:45work that needs to be done throughout the week
- 16:48and assign each of you some of that work.
- 16:51>> Skylar: So, Mr. Willie kind of goes through the
- 16:53various jobs and tasks that we will need to be taken care of over the course
- 16:57of the time here at Camp Roanoke. he
- 16:59mentions that based on the amount of work there is to be done,
- 17:02it makes sense that each person kind of divvy up about
- 17:053 of those jobs to focus on while they're
- 17:08here. And that way, ideally, everything will get
- 17:11accomplished. So, would any of you like to
- 17:13volunteer for anything in particular? There's the general.
- 17:16Cleaning and dusting, de winerization of the
- 17:19facility, unloading camp supplies and organization,
- 17:21cabin preparation, equipment, testing and repair, pool
- 17:24preparation, treating and cleaning, distribution, and
- 17:27setup of equipment, kitchen cleaning and preparations,
- 17:30restroom cleaning and preparations, yard work,
- 17:33things like mowing, weeding,
- 17:36prepping the sand.
- 17:37>> Fatty Lumpkins: Anything in particular that's jump at the, yard
- 17:40work.
- 17:40>> Cameron: Joe will clean the pool.
- 17:42>> Fatty Lumpkins: I wanted to clean the pool too. This
- 17:45should have been faster.
- 17:46>> Cameron: People can clean.
- 17:48>> Cameron: O yes.
- 17:49>> Skylar: that just means that you guys will be locked into a
- 17:52situation where you may be just talking to each other.
- 17:55>> Cameron: Oh, what?
- 17:57>> Skylar: Well, Bo well, thenn
- 18:00switch jobs.
- 18:00>> Cameron: We won t be talking to each other becausez so be Joe'gotta be
- 18:03Blotted.
- 18:04>> Fatty Lumpkins: So he. Yeah, that sounds about right.
- 18:05>> Skylar: It's gotta be Kids, open up the pool.
- 18:07>> Fatty Lumpkins: Kids these daysy's talking to his camera.
- 18:10>> Skylar: Soap nation.
- 18:11>> Fatty Lumpkins: So nation Nation.
- 18:13>> Cameron: So by soap studs.
- 18:15>> Skylar: awesome. So, essentially, with the assignment of.
- 18:18>> Cameron: All the work, were we just picking one job?
- 18:21>> Skylar: Well, we can start with one job. I. It really doesn't matter that much.
- 18:24It was really just to determine who you kind of ended up with because the
- 18:26NBC'also picked jobs. And so if there was an
- 18:29opportunity where you wanted to talk to them at all and call them at
- 18:32all, Totally, up to you. And if you wanted to, if
- 18:35there was one that really caught your interest, I could just assign you
- 18:37workday.
- 18:38>> Cameron: Then Soapy Joe will do the cabin preparation.
- 18:41>> Skylar: Okay, so Soapy Joe is go going toa go, prep the cabins.
- 18:44We got Martin Fresh is going toa be working on the pool.
- 18:47>> Fatty Lumpkins: Making it fresh.
- 18:48>> Skylar: Making it fresh. Fantastic. And in grieve. What did you
- 18:51y mowing Yard work. awesome. So Mr. Willie kind of gives you
- 18:54guys the full list of assignments of everything that needs to be done in the park.
- 18:56He kind of marks names next to some of this work to make sure that,
- 18:59you know, it's distributed pretty nicely. And then he
- 19:02bids you all ado. He says, you know, you got your cabin set up, all
- 19:05your years inside. He plans
- 19:08to return in one week's time. And as
- 19:11he's leaving, he gives you one final
- 19:14win. shout out.
- 19:15>> Skylar: o run. I'll be back on the mainland running marketing
- 19:18and such for the park. So I'll trust you all can be trusted to keep
- 19:21up with things here. But u do be aware the bridge
- 19:24will be unavailable during your week. So, I mean, unless
- 19:27there's a major emergency,
- 19:30neither I nor anybody else will be able to really pick you
- 19:33up until the week'over so
- 19:36anyway, see you gu.
- 19:37>> Skylar: And he hop back into the bus and he
- 19:40heads back to the mainland.
- 19:43>> Cameron: We have food, right?
- 19:44>> Skylar: Yeah. Oh, yeah. There's a food, like here in the mess hall. Like you can. There's a
- 19:47kitchen in.
- 19:47>> Fatty Lumpkins: So he's not gonna stay to make sure that
- 19:51we're doing our cleanup job
- 19:53correctlyage.
- 19:54>> Cameron: Yeah. Sound.
- 19:56>> Skylar: Say what you sound like je Justin is over there. He goes, oh,
- 19:59yeah, dude, let's have a raer razer on
- 20:02Roanoke.
- 20:02>> Cameron: Who cares about cleaning?
- 20:04>> Skylar: And then he. And then he kind of leans up to you and he's like, I don't know about the old guy
- 20:07over there, though. He was like a nerd. He seems like a
- 20:10narc. Oh, yeah, dude, It's.
- 20:12>> Cameron: I'm just glad I don't have to.
- 20:13>> Fatty Lumpkins: Clean the pool with him.
- 20:14>> Cameron: I'm kind of glad that I hopped over to cabin clean. Guy
- 20:17seems like a loser.
- 20:18>> Skylar: Yeah, I'm glad I didn't get the pool either.
- 20:21>> Fatty Lumpkins: my guy got a, ah, giant.
- 20:23>> Cameron: Smile on his face. Strai. And then you
- 20:26guys hear him like, you hear a camera click. And then
- 20:28the scroll of him. And in
- 20:31like this old. Those old disposable wind
- 20:34up. You hear it like the disposable click
- 20:37sound of those dis. And then you just put the. Him
- 20:40turning the knob to prep the next one as
- 20:43he's taking a picture of just like a potted plant on a
- 20:45windowill.
- 20:47>> Skylar: Oh, u. I. I'm the one.
- 20:48>> Cameron: That got the pool. I got the pool.
- 20:50>> Skylar: and you see Hazel is raising her hand.
- 20:53Hazel gives off the vibes that she.
- 20:56When group assignments are done, she just does the
- 20:59whole thing. It's not even like nobody
- 21:02else wanted to. She just did it
- 21:05before anybody really had a chance to even assign the work
- 21:08between them all. she'got glasses, she'got
- 21:11freckles, she'got red hair. And like I said, she'got a
- 21:13comically large backpack. Mabel.
- 21:16>> Fatty Lumpkins: Mabel. Vibes, Ma.
- 21:18>> Skylar: With that being said, for the next three
- 21:20days, you guys are doing various work. And
- 21:23so like that, I want to give you guys an interact or an opportunity to
- 21:26interact with the NPCs. So based on the list that I
- 21:29have here, Hazel is going to be working at the pool with Martin
- 21:32Fresh. Soapy Joe, what did you end up deciding on?
- 21:35>> Cameron: M. cabin cleaning.
- 21:36>> Skylar: Cabin cleaning. You're goingna be with Ophelia,
- 21:39the one.
- 21:39>> Cameron: That doesn't want to be here.
- 21:41>> Skylar: Yeah. And then finally we got grief. Who's
- 21:44going to be doing yard work? Anyone want to kick things off? Anyone
- 21:47in particular want to start with the interaction?
- 21:50>> Cameron: I guess I can.
- 21:51>> Skylar: Okay, sounds good. So, Connor, AKA Soapy
- 21:54Joe, you are cleaning up the cabins.
- 21:57Yep. And, do you have a particular cabin that you're
- 22:00at looking in the map that I have in front of you?
- 22:01>> Cameron: Spe @ the banana Cabinana.
- 22:03>> Skylar: Cabin. All right. You're at the Banana Cabin.
- 22:05>> Cameron: NER Cabin.
- 22:06>> Skylar: Ophelia.
- 22:07>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yep.
- 22:07>> Skylar: And what are you guys currently working on? Well, what are you
- 22:10working on? And maybe she's doing another element of it, like she's washing
- 22:13windows.
- 22:13>> Cameron: Well, Soapy Joe, he's got to be. He's got to film this vlog,
- 22:16right? So he's got to pull out the camera real quick. He's
- 22:19got to flip it around. And Ophelia is, like, off in the
- 22:22room.
- 22:22>> Fatty Lumpkins: He's like.
- 22:23>> Cameron: So he turns on the camera, like, what's up?
- 22:25>> Skylar: Su'nation, it's your boy, Soapy Joe.
- 22:27>> Cameron: We have Roanoke island in Camp Roanoke in North
- 22:30Carolina. This is the home of the lost
- 22:33colony. Dude, we'renna see what happened
- 22:36here. Why did they disappear? Who disappeared? And heoes
- 22:39really close to the camera.
- 22:40>> Skylar: Maybe it was Bigfoot.
- 22:42>> Cameron: And we'll just be here the whole week.
- 22:44>> Skylar: We're gonna spend 168
- 22:47hours here at.
- 22:48>> Cameron: Camp Roanoke to come getick to the bottom
- 22:51of that mystery. Stay tuned. And also,
- 22:54this video is sponsored by Quantum Beans. Thanks,
- 22:57Quantum Beans, for sponsoring this video. More about them later.
- 23:00He just, like, hits the off button and I'SORRY that was too
- 23:03loud. I gotta be up for my audience, you know,
- 23:06It's.
- 23:07>> Skylar: Oh, yeah, it's fine. I was pretty much just trying to ignore it to the
- 23:10best of my abilities. Wait, did you say quantum beans? Quantum
- 23:12beans. Yeah, I actually like quantum beans. They're actually really good.
- 23:15Really? Yeah, I drink a lot of, Quantum means
- 23:18coffee.
- 23:19>> Fatty Lumpkins: That's sick, man.
- 23:20>> Skylar: S your darkest rose. It's the dark.
- 23:22>> Cameron: It just opens your third eye.
- 23:24>> Skylar: It's just.
- 23:25>> Cameron: They just get it, you know? They just get.
- 23:27>> Skylar: Yeah. Do you know a lot about third eyes?
- 23:29>> Cameron: Yeah, that's, like my thing.
- 23:30>> Skylar: That's like.
- 23:31>> Cameron: So I got this YouTube channel, right? We got, like. Got, like
- 23:3350K subs on it.
- 23:35>> Skylar: Wow.
- 23:35>> Cameron: And that's like, all we do is we just, like. We do
- 23:38cryptozoology. We do some conspiracy theories.
- 23:41We dive deep into the mind.
- 23:43>> Skylar: The t o my God, into the.
- 23:44>> Cameron: Mind and into the mystery.
- 23:46>> Skylar: The mind is definitely a deep place to go into. I. To
- 23:49explore the depths of the mind. But mostly through, like,
- 23:52Like Eldritch stuff. I like to, like.
- 23:55>> Fatty Lumpkins: Like Cthulhu.
- 23:56>> Skylar: I'm a really big fan of that work. I read
- 23:59a lot of Edgaran Poe, actually.
- 24:01>> Cameron: You read the name My con?
- 24:02>> Skylar: Yeah. Then the dark hearts? Pretty much.
- 24:05>> Cameron: Dude, you should check out my YouTube channel. It's called Soby
- 24:08Joe. So be Joe got like 50k subs.
- 24:10>> Cameron: But re. We're.
- 24:11>> Cameron: We're getting.
- 24:12>> Cameron: We're getting.
- 24:12>> Skylar: I don't know, the other goths at school, if they saw
- 24:15that I subscribe to a guy named Soi Joe, I think
- 24:18they stopped hanging out with me.
- 24:20>> Fatty Lumpkins: No.
- 24:20>> Cameron: Cause, like, it's. It's just, the name m. You gotta, like.
- 24:23You gotta see the content. We're turnurning out some stuff,
- 24:26like, you know, What? I'm actually tonight I'm going
- 24:28sasquatch hunting in the little trees area.
- 24:31>> Skylar: Oh really?
- 24:32>> Cameron: Yeah, you should come with, dude.
- 24:33>> Skylar: I mean me? Yeah. Actually, that sound pretty tempting. I
- 24:36love the dark
- 24:40spaces.
- 24:41>> Cameron: Yeah, I love the dark spaces, dude.
- 24:43>> Skylar: Yeah. Do you mind if I. If we do go out there, do you mind if I
- 24:46do like a low ritual or something? Is that u.
- 24:49>> Cameron: As long as you don't like sacrifice me or anything.
- 24:51>> Skylar: I. No, no. We haven't gone that far yet.
- 24:53Noayids. No, it's more like
- 24:56like some light chanting and mixing of various
- 24:59herbs and spices.
- 25:01>> Cameron: So she's the kernel.
- 25:03>> Skylar: Usually go with like 11 herbs and
- 25:05spices. That's usually my maximum. That I have
- 25:08gone as far as. But I have friends within my coven that
- 25:11have gone as far as 16. 16.
- 25:14Yeah.
- 25:14>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah.
- 25:15>> Skylar: Let. Let's do it, man. Right on. Okay. Yeah,
- 25:17but like let's not bring
- 25:20Hazel or Justin. Those guys are annoying. Braydn
- 25:23is fine. He's quiet and that's important. But the other
- 25:26two are like blah blah blah all the time.
- 25:29It's annoying as all get out. I don't know about the other
- 25:32two guys, but the one guy kind of has
- 25:35freaky shorts. They're really. Yeah, you
- 25:38really.
- 25:38>> Cameron: You just kind of hope that he doesn't like squat
- 25:41downus'like.
- 25:42>> Skylar: You're afraid of what you're going toa see? more than anything.
- 25:45>> Cameron: Yeah.
- 25:45>> Cameron: So we'll.
- 25:46>> Fatty Lumpkins: We'll see about him, you know.
- 25:48>> Skylar: But you know, there's also the old
- 25:50guy too. I don't know about him. Oh dude, I swear he works
- 25:53at my school. Does he? Yeah, I'm pretty sure he does. I think he's like
- 25:56the history teacher or something. I don't know. He never does
- 25:59like gothic history, so I like pretty much never go to his
- 26:02class. Just been skirting by on A C
- 26:05minus. AC's get degrees though. Yeah.
- 26:08Yeah.
- 26:08>> Fatty Lumpkins: So yeah, let's.
- 26:10>> Skylar: I just realized I'm a 27 year old guy talking to high school
- 26:13stud.
- 26:13>> Fatty Lumpkins: Well, I'm.
- 26:14>> Skylar: I'm a senior.
- 26:15>> Cameron: Okay.
- 26:15>> Skylar: I mean I'm.
- 26:16>> Skylar: Are you?
- 26:20>> Skylar: Yeah. Let's say you're 18.
- 26:23>> Cameron: I like that you're at least 18.
- 26:24>> Skylar: Just to clarify list like isn't like a date? No. Or Joe.
- 26:27No.
- 26:28>> Cameron: Why not just say what you do. It kind of looks a little
- 26:30weird.
- 26:31>> Skylar: Well, not if we have Braydn and we have. Yeah. Yeah.
- 26:34>> Cameron: Let's get at least a couple other people up in there.
- 26:36>> Skylar: No, yeah, absolutely. I mean in sa. so do you really think that Bigfoot
- 26:39is On this island, man, I got a
- 26:42good.
- 26:43>> Cameron: I got a good feeling that I've.
- 26:44>> Skylar: Heard some people may have seen about also. You've
- 26:47never seen Bigfoot before? I could tell you more about
- 26:50that later. But yeah, we like cryptic.
- 26:54>> Cameron: I have experienced Bigfoot.
- 26:56>> Skylar: I. I don't want to
- 26:59say too loudus.
- 27:00>> Cameron: Like I don't want pay sh.
- 27:02>> Skylar: It'just us in this cabin cleaning. Yeah.
- 27:04>> Fatty Lumpkins: But you never know what kind of.
- 27:05>> Skylar: Microphones or whatever they got up in these things. Oh,
- 27:08fair enough. Want to just want to make sure.
- 27:10>> Cameron: That no one else really hears because a lot of people don't
- 27:12understand. They don't understand about Bigfoot.
- 27:15>> Skylar: Yeah, I mean, I get the solace and the desire
- 27:18to like separate yourself from the rest of like the idiots
- 27:21in society. So like, I kind of get it.
- 27:24All right, fantastic. So, yes. You guys have
- 27:27plans to potentially, go film a
- 27:30video and whatever it is that Ophelia does
- 27:33in the woods, just outside of the campgrounds,
- 27:35which. Pretty cool, between Fatty or so
- 27:38should I say Greieve and Martin. Anybody
- 27:41else want to jump in here? Martin, you are
- 27:44cleaning the pool with Hazel. I think Hazel is
- 27:47also somebody you probably recognize. She
- 27:50is a senior and she is working towards.
- 27:52Actually shes graduated this year.
- 27:55>> Cameron: Yeah.
- 27:55>> Skylar: And she's going into college this coming school
- 27:58year.
- 27:59>> Fatty Lumpkins: Okay. So we're just standing by the pool cleaning
- 28:02it, I'm guess saying.
- 28:03>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 28:03>> Cameron: Oh my gosh.
- 28:04>> Skylar: Mr. Fresh. I.
- 28:05>> Skylar: You know, I was really surprised when I saw you in the
- 28:08lineup of people to do this.
- 28:12>> Cameron: Well, yes, yes, Hazel, I'm
- 28:15really excited to be working at this summer
- 28:17camp.
- 28:18>> Skylar: Yeah, absolutely. So like, is there a specific reason that you
- 28:21chose this job or.
- 28:22>> Cameron: Oh, just earn on the old paycheck while
- 28:25working away this summer.
- 28:27>> Skylar: Oh, okay.
- 28:27>> Cameron: So school'out of session.
- 28:29>> Skylar: Don't you know, I suppose that's a fair point. Do like teachers
- 28:32not get paid enough or.
- 28:33>> Cameron: Oh no, I get paid plety. It's just a little
- 28:36extra dollars on the top. It's like a cherry on
- 28:39a cake.
- 28:40>> Skylar: Sure.
- 28:40>> Cameron: I love cake. Hazel.
- 28:43>> Skylar: Yeah? Cake is dead. Cake is de.
- 28:45>> Cameron: Are you excited be heading, off to college?
- 28:47>> Skylar: Yeah, absolutely I am. I'm hoping to get like, lots of sort of like
- 28:50kind of creditation to some extent for doing this job
- 28:53here at the park. My goal is crossing my
- 28:56fingers to get a degree in marine
- 28:59biology. You know, I'm gonna get that doctor's degree.
- 29:02>> Cameron: Oh, that's a hard field to get into.
- 29:04>> Skylar: Yeah, I know, I know, but I feel Pretty confident. You know,
- 29:07I. I mean, you. Anybody knows I have, like,
- 29:10straight A's all through high school. So, I mean, I'm not too
- 29:13worried. I don't know. College is just like a whole different
- 29:16world, you know?
- 29:16>> Cameron: No, I know. I went through wa years of it.
- 29:19>> Skylar: Yeah. it's definitely a scary transition, you know, just being
- 29:22off on my own
- 29:25and, not having my parents there to be, like, all
- 29:28me about, you know, study, study, study, and, you know,
- 29:31do these prep tests and stuff like that. But, like, I think I'm ready.
- 29:33>> Cameron: Oh, yeah, you're a smart kid and you got
- 29:36initiative, and that's what matters in the college world.
- 29:39>> Skylar: Well, hey, you know, that initiative is why I'm here in the first place. Like, I
- 29:42figured, you know, we're on an island after all. Like, there's a very
- 29:45high chance that I could see marine life right like that around
- 29:48the islands. And so, like, that'that's what I'm hoping.
- 29:50>> Cameron: Hey, if you play your cards right, you can maybe get this
- 29:53as a preliminary elective.
- 29:55>> Skylar: Yeah, I always thought it was like, maybe, an early step
- 29:58towards, like an internship even.
- 30:00>> Cameron: That could work too.
- 30:02>> Skylar: Sure.
- 30:02>> Cameron: Okay.
- 30:03>> Skylar: I mean, I guess maybe. Nah, I don't know. I don't know what kind of connection.
- 30:05>> Cameron: I got internship hours working in a camp back in
- 30:08my college days. Oh, really? Oh, yeah.
- 30:11Wow.
- 30:12>> Fatty Lumpkins: I mean, was.
- 30:13>> Skylar: What was. What was the camp like?
- 30:15>> Cameron: It was, a science camp.
- 30:18>> Skylar: What?
- 30:18>> Cameron: Yeah. You went to a science camp? Yeah.
- 30:22It's a big part of the reason why I'm actually working here
- 30:25this summer.
- 30:25>> Skylar: Almost as cool as space camp.
- 30:28>> Cameron: Space camp? I was.
- 30:31I. Space camp came and went.
- 30:33>> Skylar: Like you went to space?
- 30:34>> Cameron: No, I didn't go to. I sadly did not. I
- 30:37didn't go to space camp.
- 30:38>> Fatty Lumpkins: Oh, shoot.
- 30:39>> Cameron: I wanted to.
- 30:40>> Skylar: No, I mean, I wanted to as.
- 30:41>> Fatty Lumpkins: Well, but m. My, if you're gonna.
- 30:43>> Skylar: Go into a marine biology, there's not really any point dealing with space in
- 30:46space camp.
- 30:47>> Cameron: It's pricey.
- 30:48>> Skylar: Yeah, that too.
- 30:48>> Cameron: You have to know someone to help pay for it. That's
- 30:51right. Or just not go.
- 30:53>> Skylar: And that's kind of how I ended.
- 30:55>> Cameron: So instead I went to the local science camp every summer.
- 30:58And that was just as good. Cool.
- 30:59>> Skylar: What kind of stuff do they do at Science can?
- 31:02Experiments?
- 31:03>> Cameron: U. lots of paier mache volcanoes,
- 31:07Potatoes with electricity.
- 31:09>> Skylar: Kindergarten.
- 31:10>> Cameron: Yeah, DAV was a little below me
- 31:13too. But, you know, it was still fun to be
- 31:15surrounded by my peers.
- 31:17>> Skylar: Oh, I would, I would assume in doing science, I mean,
- 31:20obviously that's. That's Just an abl.
- 31:22>> Skylar: Yes.
- 31:23>> Cameron: I just love being out in nature, too.
- 31:25>> Skylar: Hey, this is a perfect place for that.
- 31:27>> Fatty Lumpkins: Exactly.
- 31:28>> Skylar: I also love nature, specifically ocean waters
- 31:31and the sea creatures that live inside of it.
- 31:34>> Cameron: Good thing we're on an island land.
- 31:36>> Skylar: What a heart saying.
- 31:38>> Cameron: Is that why you picked the pool?
- 31:41>> Skylar: Well'honest to be honest, I really wanted to
- 31:44do some of the equipment stuff, so hopefully I'll get it to do
- 31:47that later. Like this weekus. I really want to end up over at the north
- 31:49beach, and I think that just be the perfect place.
- 31:52>> Cameron: Oh, yeah. Find some photoplankton,
- 31:55some. Yeah. Crabs,
- 31:58starfish. Sure. Find yourself a
- 32:01waditing pool.
- 32:02>> Skylar: Sure.
- 32:02>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 32:02>> Skylar: Ah. And then I can, like, look underneath the rocks and see all the cool
- 32:05stuff. Yeah, yeah. That's what I'm going for.
- 32:07>> Cameron: I did that back in science camp.
- 32:10>> Skylar: Yeah. Did you find cool stuff?
- 32:11>> Cameron: Yeah, I found, like, a real cool rock with the
- 32:14skeleton in it.
- 32:15>> Skylar: Like a fossil.
- 32:16>> Cameron: Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's what they're called how you
- 32:19think.
- 32:19>> Skylar: About the possibility of finding fossils. And with that,
- 32:22we'll call a close on the interaction
- 32:25between Martin, Fresh and
- 32:27Hazel. and then last but not least, working the yard
- 32:30work, we've got Braden and
- 32:33Greieve Gershwin. Now, Greieve tell
- 32:35me if
- 32:37he'he's picking up
- 32:40entire, like, picnic tables
- 32:43and setting them out along like you'ly.
- 32:46Do you want a bow?
- 32:47>> Fatty Lumpkins: What are he was doing?
- 32:47>> Skylar: Or this is what I'm American brains doing this. But if you be down
- 32:50to mow or mowing's a really loud
- 32:53thing.
- 32:54>> Fatty Lumpkins: Greie would be totally interested in cleaning
- 32:56up leaves or in o sherriff fallen tree
- 32:59debris, because he's heard that that is
- 33:02a great height of snakes or the cottonmuth.
- 33:06>> Skylar: Makes sense. That makes sense. Okay, so you're raking and
- 33:08clearing debris and stuff like that. when you clear a particular
- 33:11area, Brain'been making trips back and forth
- 33:14between the supply shack where a lot
- 33:17of the equipment is stored, and then bringing it back, sending it out. It's usually
- 33:20pretty heavy equipment. Like I said, he'got like, entire
- 33:23picnic tables that he's hauling in and out. and finally
- 33:26he comes back and he got an area cleared out. He sits down
- 33:28a table.
- 33:30>> Fatty Lumpkins: Am I supposed to sit on the table? or is it give me an,
- 33:33invitation or asking me to help him lift the table?
- 33:35>> Skylar: Here's the tricky thing. Braydn's not the most talkative
- 33:38guy, so it's up to you. I mean, if you truly
- 33:41don't want to say a single thing to Braydn and
- 33:44we move past it. That's. If that's what you feel like your
- 33:46character is all about, that's totally fine.
- 33:49>> Fatty Lumpkins: So truthfully, the only reason that Grie volunteered for
- 33:52this particular role is because it would be the
- 33:55most kind of scout worthy
- 33:57job. Or he can just. Oh yeah, it'scope out the
- 34:00area. Look. Sure. He looks for
- 34:03animal print or so scat.
- 34:06>> Skylar: Nice.
- 34:07>> Fatty Lumpkins: He has definitely mistaken a couple pieces of dirt for
- 34:09poo. But courseio was just. Just sometimes you get a little too.
- 34:12>> Skylar: Excited and you think it's poo that it's
- 34:15not. You get kind of bummed out.
- 34:17>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yes.
- 34:17>> Skylar: So fair enoughly.
- 34:18>> Fatty Lumpkins: Tasted like dirt.
- 34:19>> Cameron: O.
- 34:20>> Skylar: You know, that's the best way to tell. Braden comes by and
- 34:23he sits down a ah, picnic table right by
- 34:26where you just finished out.
- 34:29>> Cameron: Man, they don't make them any lighter.
- 34:32>> Fatty Lumpkins: You need some help there, mate?
- 34:34>> Skylar: No, no, it'fine I got it.
- 34:36>> Cameron: I got it.
- 34:37>> Skylar: I don't worry about me. I wrestle in college professionally.
- 34:40So yeah, I'got. I've got it taken care of.
- 34:42>> Fatty Lumpkins: Good. Cause I kinda scrawny. I don't do a whole lot of
- 34:45heavy lift. Unless you kinda alligator.
- 34:48>> Skylar: Yeah, I mean there'no off. No offense or anything like that, but.
- 34:50>> Skylar: You kinda look like a track kid.
- 34:52>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah. Go for speed rather than
- 34:55strength.
- 34:56>> Cameron: Hey, you know that's.
- 34:57>> Skylar: You teach their own. Teach your own.
- 34:59>> Cameron: U. So u.
- 35:01>> Skylar: Hey, look, I don't mean to be.
- 35:03>> Cameron: That guy, but u.
- 35:04>> Skylar: This outfit you got on, what's.
- 35:06>> Cameron: U.
- 35:07>> Skylar: What's.
- 35:08>> Skylar: Is it like your grandma maker for you or like
- 35:11what's going on there?
- 35:12>> Fatty Lumpkins: Have you never seen the Crocodile Hungter
- 35:15diaries?
- 35:16>> Cameron: No, I'm 21.
- 35:19>> Skylar: is this like an old person thing?
- 35:21>> Fatty Lumpkins: Well, I'm only 27 and I'm still
- 35:24big fan of Crocodile Huter.
- 35:26>> Skylar: That's like a six year difference.
- 35:28>> Fatty Lumpkins: A lot happens in six years.
- 35:30>> Cameron: A lot happens in six years.
- 35:31>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yes. That's my idols.
- 35:34>> Skylar: You would graduate from college and one and a half
- 35:36times in that span.
- 35:39Sorry, what were you saying? I had to run the math in my head.
- 35:42>> Fatty Lumpkins: No, you said you wrest. I'm glad you're not wearing your little
- 35:44leotarduse. That would be even shorter than my
- 35:47budgie shorts.
- 35:49>> Cameron: Oh yeah.
- 35:49>> Fatty Lumpkins: I really looked to make sure that's the actual turf.
- 35:51>> Skylar: I mean I left them in the. In the cabin, but they are
- 35:54here.
- 35:55>> Cameron: You know, be honest.
- 35:56>> Fatty Lumpkins: You bring your leotard?
- 35:57>> Skylar: I was just about to say I'm not really 100% sure
- 36:00why I brought it just comfortable.
- 36:03I like to sleep in it.
- 36:04>> Fatty Lumpkins: I'll tell you what. If I find an alligator, you and I can
- 36:07take turns wrestling it.
- 36:08>> Cameron: Oh, y. Yeah.
- 36:09>> Fatty Lumpkins: Me and my budgie shorts. You and your leotard. We'll see you can
- 36:12pin it soonest.
- 36:13>> Skylar: Hey.
- 36:14>> Cameron: All right.
- 36:14>> Skylar: You know, hey, I'm always done for a competition. So you're, like, an alligator
- 36:17expert? Yeah. That was, like, your home.
- 36:18>> Fatty Lumpkins: I'd say. I'm an enthusiast. I don't want to get too
- 36:21cocky and call myself an expert.
- 36:23>> Skylar: Okay, well, so there's
- 36:26actually alligators around here?
- 36:28>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah, the alligators are native to
- 36:31North Carolina.
- 36:32>> Skylar: We, like, on an island.
- 36:35>> Fatty Lumpkins: Alligators can swim. They're amphibious.
- 36:37>> Cameron: Okay.
- 36:38>> Fatty Lumpkins: Or reptilian, but.
- 36:39>> Cameron: Right.
- 36:39>> Skylar: I mean, I just wasn't sure, like, how far they
- 36:42swim. You know, I always thought they were, like, in lakes and
- 36:45rivers, but I also haven't studied, so. M. I'm
- 36:48way off. I'm way off.
- 36:49>> Cameron: You know what? This is your.
- 36:50>> Skylar: This is your area, not my area. My area is
- 36:53wrestling your areas.
- 36:54>> Cameron: Gators and stuff.
- 36:55>> Skylar: so, yeah, m. My apology.
- 36:56>> Cameron: My.
- 36:57>> Skylar: I'm not trying to say.
- 36:58>> Fatty Lumpkins: See where we were coming from from strictly, ecological
- 37:00standpoint, as there's not a lot of other bodies
- 37:03of water other than saltw water around thisah here
- 37:06island.
- 37:07>> Skylar: Do gators like saltater?
- 37:08>> Fatty Lumpkins: No, that's crocodiles.
- 37:10>> Skylar: Oh.
- 37:11>> Fatty Lumpkins: You know, the saltwater crocodile.
- 37:13>> Skylar: U. Oh, so you think there's crocodiles around here?
- 37:16>> Fatty Lumpkins: No, those are in Egypt.
- 37:18>> Skylar: Oh, interesting.
- 37:21>> Fatty Lumpkins: But if I found a crocodile, that'd be crazy. I'd
- 37:23be more famous than Steve.
- 37:27>> Skylar: Steve Irrin.
- 37:30>> Fatty Lumpkins: The crocodile haunter cry.
- 37:33>> Skylar: Oh, yeah, the thing you mentioned before.
- 37:34>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah, that guy. Sorry.
- 37:36>> Cameron: Int interest.
- 37:37>> Fatty Lumpkins: I. I just realize he's supposed to. You're supposed to be doing
- 37:40Australia now. I told you it was very bad. I got
- 37:42man. And that's about all I could handle. And I can'ad
- 37:45lib and come up with an accent at the same time.
- 37:48>> Skylar: well, good.
- 37:48>> Skylar: Good luck, finding this. This, on this gator hunt that you're
- 37:51doing. and with that, we kind of close things out with,
- 37:54Grieve Gershwin. After the first
- 37:57night, you guys, all head back to have
- 38:00dinner over at the mess hall. And Justin has been working at the
- 38:03mess hall. he's been getting the kitchen all cleaned up and ready, and
- 38:06he figured while he's there, he might as well make dinner. so he's
- 38:09putting plates and stuff in front of you, and he says, all right,
- 38:12so I don't know about you guys, but I Had this crazy cool
- 38:15idea. Hear me out. Okay, so we're
- 38:17here until Friday morning. Thursday
- 38:20night, we're pretty much gonna have all the work done. no big deal,
- 38:23right? Thursday. By Thursday, on
- 38:26Thursday night, we should totally have like a big
- 38:29bonfire. We can like, cook hot dogs
- 38:31and s'mores and
- 38:35tell scary stories. Just saying.
- 38:38Come on. Great idea. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
- 38:40O.
- 38:41>> Cameron: Well, sounds like a grand idea.
- 38:43>> Cameron: That's two yeses.
- 38:45>> Skylar: Anyone else?
- 38:46>> Cameron: I came out here for the camp experience, so
- 38:48let's have it.
- 38:49>> Skylar: Hazel. Hazel's like, I don't know. Okay, that's, U
- 38:52that you shut up.
- 38:53>> Fatty Lumpkins: Not enough.
- 38:54>> Skylar: That's tonic mil,
- 38:56Ophelia. I said call me
- 38:59Onyx. Oh, sorry, Onyx. what about
- 39:02you? If I don't hear something that terrifies
- 39:05me to my absolute soul, I will
- 39:07probably lose it. So I'm in.
- 39:09>> Cameron: All right.
- 39:10>> Skylar: Sweet. Okay, Braydn. Brayden. Come on, my
- 39:13man. I don't really care what you do,
- 39:16as long as it doesn't bother me.
- 39:18Okay, that's again, not a know. What about you over here? dude
- 39:21with the shorts.
- 39:23>> Fatty Lumpkins: Count me and mate.
- 39:26>> Cameron: O. I didn't know we had an Aussie with us.
- 39:30>> Fatty Lumpkins: It comes and goes, comes and goes.
- 39:32>> Skylar: It just kind of pops in her long. How long you
- 39:35lived in Australia?
- 39:37>> Fatty Lumpkins: Never buunt, never lived there. I was
- 39:40on a three week mission trip there for O.
- 39:42>> Cameron: Is that where you got that fancy bandana
- 39:45from?
- 39:46>> Fatty Lumpkins: That's where.
- 39:47>> Cameron: Oh, that's nice. You know, your outfit kind
- 39:50of reminds me of the late great Steve Irwin.
- 39:53Finally somebody recognize you.
- 39:56>> Skylar: You see Brayn just roll his eyes.
- 39:58>> Cameron: Like this guy again.
- 39:59>> Fatty Lumpkins: Oh my gosh.
- 40:00>> Skylar: And then you just see, you see Aphelia and Hazel kind of look over and. And
- 40:03they're like, who are they talking about? And he's like, it's just some old guy
- 40:06for same show.
- 40:08>> Cameron: I'm currently, like, beinning my arm, like
- 40:11doing wrestling maneuvers, and I'm like, oh, he knew
- 40:14how to tussle with them gators, didn't he? That's
- 40:17horrible form. You're gonna hurt yourself is what Steve
- 40:20Irwin did. He would wrestle them
- 40:22gators.
- 40:23>> Fatty Lumpkins: He was a bete.
- 40:26>> Cameron: I thought the gators were the butte.
- 40:28>> Fatty Lumpkins: He and they were a butte. No, a beau
- 40:31to society.
- 40:32>> Cameron: Oh, I believe it.
- 40:38>> Skylar: You guys come to the end of her first day. You sleep. Next
- 40:41morning you wake up, so on and so forth
- 40:43until you hit that Thursday night that
- 40:46Justin had been so excited for. It's Thursday is
- 40:49your last full day.
- 40:50>> Fatty Lumpkins: No more of us talking with any other NPCs?
- 40:53>> Skylar: I assume that you guys probably talked to him a little here on there
- 40:56Bonfire O true ye. Yeah, the
- 40:59bonfires whereever everything comes out. Mr. Willy
- 41:02will be returning on Friday morning to take you all back
- 41:05to the mainland and potentially hire on two of
- 41:08you more full time. you guys all see
- 41:10the large fire pit at the center of the camp
- 41:13and have one final cookout, which
- 41:16is going to be your send off per sev. you finish up
- 41:19your work Thursday afternoon, you spot braiden bringing in a
- 41:22few big o logs, to the fire pit, setting them
- 41:25inside, you head off to go clean up at your cabin
- 41:27just as it's starting to get dark. And so then by the time you
- 41:30get done at your respected cabin, you head back over, the
- 41:33flames are already started, the
- 41:36bonfire is up and running, it's roaring. And
- 41:39you sit down on one of the half log benches and you start
- 41:42cooking a, hot dog or a s'more or whatever it is that you want. as far
- 41:45as, like, camp food goes and over the heat,
- 41:48as everyone kind of nestles in, you've all gotten to
- 41:51know at least a little bit about each other over the course of your time
- 41:54here, and now's an opportunity to find out
- 41:56more. But before you guys can just kind of start
- 41:59getting into casual conversation about each other's lives.
- 42:02Justin stands up with a villainous grin across
- 42:05his face. Well, I have to admit,
- 42:08it's been, a great week working
- 42:10alongside all of you. some more than others.
- 42:14but I digress. We are the first
- 42:16people to get to enjoy Camp Roanoke. And that's pretty
- 42:19cool if you think about it. In my opinion, at least. So I
- 42:22think it's only fair that we leave something
- 42:25for the future campers.
- 42:28What did you have in mind? Ophelia asked
- 42:31skeptically. This.
- 42:33Justin withdraws his hand from behind his back and
- 42:36reveals a wooden totem that you guys
- 42:39recognize from one of the glass cases
- 42:42stashed in the museum wing of the mess hall.
- 42:45I don't think we're supposed to take those
- 42:48cases.
- 42:49>> Cameron: Wa. Hey, you're not supposed to have that.
- 42:51That's an artifact of the history area.
- 42:54>> Skylar: Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, I'm probably not supposed to have it, but here's the
- 42:57thing. It's a special night. And I'm not gonna tell
- 43:00Willie if you guys don't tell Will.
- 43:02>> Cameron: What are youna do, Will?
- 43:04>> Skylar: All right, here. Here's what I'm thinking. So we each
- 43:07tell a scary story, right? We talked about this before,
- 43:10right? Scariest one that you know. And we'll
- 43:13pass the totem around. So then whoever has the totem,
- 43:16they get to tell their story. No interruptions,
- 43:19no comments from anybody. Nothing. That always ruins it.
- 43:22You know what I mean? We're justnna sit here quietly and let them
- 43:25finish the story. Okay, that's, that's going toa be our
- 43:28cool tradition that we're going toa start here at the camp
- 43:31and then it's going to get passed on, as whoever
- 43:34you know, comes here to the camp and like does their whole thing right. So if
- 43:37any of us, whatever, two of us get hired, you guys, you guys
- 43:39are responsible. Her pat in this onng
- 43:42u who wants to go first? And he holds out the totem to
- 43:45all of you.
- 43:47>> Fatty Lumpkins: Greieve we'take the tot.
- 43:48>> Skylar: All right. Shorts is taking the totem. Also, by the way, I've
- 43:51been meaning to ask. How many pairs does I
- 43:54like this.
- 43:54>> Cameron: Name is just short'a love. They calling a name Shortarts for now.
- 43:57>> Skylar: I don't even care what his name is. He's short.
- 43:59>> Fatty Lumpkins: Never the nickname I watchlt.
- 44:02Short.
- 44:03>> Cameron: Why you complain that you just got like one of the funniest
- 44:06nicknames?
- 44:08>> Fatty Lumpkins: It's just never the bigame. I expect it to be. I expect
- 44:10everything to be shortened. But it's. But
- 44:13Greed was short enough.
- 44:15>> Skylar: It is pretty short.
- 44:16>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah, but Shorts.
- 44:17>> Skylar: But so short.
- 44:20All right, so you have the totem. U tell
- 44:23us your scary story.
- 44:29>> Fatty Lumpkins: Alright folks. You've heard about things that
- 44:31stalk the land. Things that were once men. Like ghosts
- 44:34and wedding ding goes. Now let me tell you
- 44:37about something that belongs to the water. Something
- 44:40older. They call it the Gatoraur.
- 44:44Now I have spent my life around gaters. Respect
- 44:47them, understand them. Love em mostly.
- 44:50But the gatoraur, that's something else
- 44:53entirely. More than just a big gator, the
- 44:56legends of it extend all around the world. And they go back
- 44:58generations. Whispers among the old
- 45:01fishermen. Tales told in hushed tones around
- 45:04crackling fires much like this wall.
- 45:07They speak like a beast that
- 45:09dwarfs any normal alligator. A relic from
- 45:12a time when giants walk the earth. They say it
- 45:15has scales like iron, teeth like
- 45:18daggers, and an intelligence. An awareness
- 45:21that chills you to the bone. Maybe there's
- 45:23multiple of them. Or maybe it's just this one I've been
- 45:26hunting. That currently exists. Who knows.
- 45:30For years it was just folklore. Scary stories
- 45:33to keep kids away from the deep Wada. But lately
- 45:36the disappearances started subtly. A fishing boat
- 45:38here. A small skip stop there. Lost at sea,
- 45:41they said. Storms come quick. But
- 45:44the locals, they knew better. They felt it in the
- 45:47one a primal unease. I
- 45:50heard tale of a whale washing up on shores with a
- 45:53big o chunk of flesh bitten out of it. Now
- 45:56you tell me what a thing like
- 45:58that to the largest creature on this dang o
- 46:01planet. Then came the sightings.
- 46:04Not just glimpses into the murky depths.
- 46:06Fishermen swore they saw something fast and dark
- 46:09moving beneath the surface. Something that made their
- 46:12boats rock violently even in calm
- 46:15waters. One old salt, a
- 46:17man who'd wrestled gate as his whole life claimed he
- 46:20salt breach said it was the size of a small
- 46:23cot, its jaws lined with rows
- 46:26upon rows of teeth. You could lose a lem in its
- 46:29eyes. They set itlow with a malevolent
- 46:32green light. More boats vanished.
- 46:35Not wrecked, not overturned, just
- 46:38gone. Days later, debris
- 46:41would wash ashore. Splintered wood, torn
- 46:44nets. And sometimes other things.
- 46:46Things I won't describe in detail.
- 46:49Things that told of a hunger that knew no
- 46:52bounds. That's what drew me
- 46:55here. The legends, the recent spike in
- 46:58disappearances. I had to see for
- 47:00myself. Is it just a monster of myth?
- 47:03Or is there something truly lurking in these
- 47:06waters? Mr. Willie was kind enough to let
- 47:09me stay, help out with the camp in exchange for the
- 47:12chance to explore the sounds and inlets around the
- 47:14island. And let me tell you, the water
- 47:17here feels different. Heavy.
- 47:20Like something is always watching from below.
- 47:22Ive seen the unnatural wake, the sudden
- 47:25violent disturbances that can't be explained by
- 47:28currents. I haven't seen it yet,
- 47:31but I feel it in my bones. You don't spend
- 47:34as much time around gaiators as I have and not
- 47:36notice these subconscious signs,
- 47:39much like you. Hazy. I've always been
- 47:42curious about the watery depths and what lies beneath
- 47:45them. But things like this make you wader
- 47:48what's truly looking beneath the surf, waiting for
- 47:51its next meal.
- 47:59>> Skylar: And with that, you hand back the totem over to
- 48:02Justin, who says, well, geez, you could have
- 48:05told me that before I did work on the beach.
- 48:08Geez, I don't want to go anywhere near the waters
- 48:10now. Big
- 48:13gators.
- 48:14>> Elizabeth: Who would a guess who's next?
- 48:17>> Cameron: Well, was that the story of Big Al? You
- 48:20didn't mention Big Al's name once in there. You kept
- 48:23call at the gosaur.
- 48:25>> Fatty Lumpkins: I thought it was just assumed that a big
- 48:28gator obviously big it
- 48:31fe.
- 48:32>> Cameron: And I look out for Big O around these parts.
- 48:34>> Skylar: Everyone knows that, obviously gatoraur is
- 48:37like his Latin name.
- 48:41>> Cameron: Sorry, I don't speak Italian.
- 48:43>> Cameron: All right, who's next?
- 48:44>> Skylar: Who's telling the Next scary story question.
- 48:47>> Fatty Lumpkins: Are they ever going toa tell a story?
- 48:49>> Skylar: No.
- 48:49>> Fatty Lumpkins: So it's just gonna be a stir.
- 48:50>> Skylar: Right?
- 48:51>> Cameron: Okay. I'm fine. Right.
- 48:52>> Fatty Lumpkins: Reading the next one since you said Connors is the best one anyways. Well,
- 48:55always save the best for a August for sure.
- 48:57>> Cameron: It's the longest.
- 48:58>> Skylar: Justin. Justin leans over at hands. Martin Fresh
- 49:01the o. I think I.
- 49:02>> Cameron: M try to turn it one of these spooky stories
- 49:06so remman doesn't have any big alligators in
- 49:09it. let me think.
- 49:11Scary stories. Oh, this one
- 49:14time,
- 49:21I was hangering for some cereal
- 49:24and I went over to the fridge and I opened it up
- 49:27and I opened the milk and it smells something
- 49:29sour.
- 49:34>> Skylar: Everybody just stares at you blankly.
- 49:37>> Cameron: It was exp. Expired.
- 49:42No, not good enough.
- 49:44>> Skylar: Okay,
- 49:44>> Cameron: Oh, one time I was shopping at the grocery store
- 49:47and I had a whole shopping cart full of
- 49:50groceries and knicknags and doodads and
- 49:53I runung them up to the counter and she did the order
- 49:56273 and IL.
- 49:59Well, thank goodness I got my. Oh,
- 50:01no, I left my coupon book
- 50:04at home.
- 50:10>> Skylar: What's a coupon?
- 50:11>> Cameron: Okay, still nothing. Jeez.
- 50:13>> Fatty Lumpkins: I thought the scary part was just.
- 50:15>> Cameron: How expensive the groceries.
- 50:17>> Skylar: 200. Yeah, that's true.
- 50:18>> Cameron: That is a pretty scary reality we are living
- 50:21in. I've got an even scarier
- 50:24story.
- 50:28So the other day I was sitting there
- 50:31looking at my calendar and I got an alert
- 50:34that came up April
- 50:3710th. I thought, oh, no, I
- 50:40haven't done my taxes.
- 50:47Still nothing. Oh my word. You got. What
- 50:50kind of scary stories do you want? These are
- 50:52terrifying. Well, Junior, just oneraid
- 50:55different reasons I will say.
- 50:57>> Skylar: my parents do my Texas, so I don't really get it.
- 51:00>> Cameron: Okay, well, these adults can get it
- 51:0327 your stories.
- 51:05>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 51:06>> Cameron: And you prob. Okay, stories are really targeted.
- 51:09Okay, what kind? One that could scare all of
- 51:11us.
- 51:12>> Cameron: What. What prey tell is in a scary story
- 51:15that would scare all of you.
- 51:17>> Cameron: You know, like, you know, ah, a.
- 51:18>> Skylar: Spooky monster in the forest or something like that. Like
- 51:21who.
- 51:22>> Cameron: Where we're at.
- 51:23>> Cameron: Well, that reminds me. you see,
- 51:30I was out, in a cabin I own out in the
- 51:33woods. You know, I go out there every so
- 51:36often on the weekend to get away from a. The little
- 51:39while from the hustle and bustle of life. You know, I'm
- 51:42a. I'm an outdoorsman at heart. But I still like my
- 51:45cabin life, you know. So I went out to
- 51:48my cabin. A man needs his soul as don't you know,
- 51:51and anywho, I was stoking at the fire.
- 51:54Well, ham was u. cooking
- 51:57away above it. I also had a thing of green beans
- 52:00and rice and a cooking pot beside the fire
- 52:03as well. So I'm stoking away and that's when I
- 52:06hear this burbling sound from outside.
- 52:09So, being the inquisitive swordt I am,
- 52:12I go to see what's making that sound. So I go to
- 52:15the door and open it to take a peek
- 52:18outside. On the edge of the tugly wood,
- 52:21there it stood. A giant
- 52:24beast standing in its oofish
- 52:26way. Its large figure standing on
- 52:29trunks of muscle with long extending
- 52:32claws tapping the ground where it
- 52:34stood, claws ready to catch whatever it may
- 52:37be. It stood there in its gyre and
- 52:40gimbal in a weebble. As my eyes moved
- 52:43from its lower to its upper, I saw its
- 52:46jaw. A large jaw it be it was snapping at
- 52:49the air nineaw at the air which it
- 52:52breathed. Oh, ah, those jaws that bite the
- 52:55cold, the fumes. Oh, and the
- 52:57pho'cascading from the sides of its crooked
- 53:00grin. In that moment, truly all
- 53:02minsy were begroved. I tell you, I
- 53:05looked eyes with that beast and its inner stair
- 53:08grew overtaking me. The eyes,
- 53:11engulfed in flame, consumed my presence as I
- 53:14stood there on the precipice between what I had known
- 53:17and what I didn't believe. Oh, the
- 53:19mum wrps outgrave me in that moment.
- 53:23Then I heard a timer from behind me.
- 53:26I went, oh. Realized my hand was done and I went back
- 53:29inside the check on it. As I did, I heard the beast
- 53:32shuffle way back in the woods. So anywho,
- 53:35that's how I met the scru strongest though it could have been a
- 53:38rabid bear for all I know. But I still call it Scrunggus.
- 53:43>> Skylar: You look over and you see Hazel is furiously
- 53:45flipping through a dictionary trying to find all the
- 53:48obscure words that you had mentioned throughout your story and find out what they
- 53:51mean. Or o crows. Oh, there it is.
- 53:55>> Cameron: Why Throwing the Cheshire Cat
- 53:57lyrics.
- 53:58>> Cameron: What are you talking about?
- 54:00>> Cameron: You know was brilling in the
- 54:03slimy toes and guy and gimbal in the waves. All
- 54:06minzy where the moro groves and the mole rats outgray.
- 54:09>> Cameron: Well, that's just how I felt in the moment he
- 54:12felt the chesher cat. I don't know. What? No
- 54:14schishire cat is old guy.
- 54:17>> Skylar: That's Alice in Wonderland, actually.
- 54:19>> Cameron: Oh, I remember that story. The Disney
- 54:21guy made it.
- 54:24I know all about him.
- 54:26>> Skylar: I think I get it. Like, you go out into the woods for,
- 54:29like, solace and it works on your poetry and stuff like that.
- 54:32>> Cameron: Poetry?
- 54:33>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 54:34>> Cameron: What are you talking about? What are you I'm talking
- 54:37about when the scrungest disrupting my
- 54:39habrewing.
- 54:42>> Skylar: Justin le for he starts taking the.
- 54:45The. The totem. He says, I was that good enough.
- 54:48yeah. The scrungest. Okay. Yeah.
- 54:50>> Cameron: Well, I'll keep our eyes out there. Scrungus is
- 54:53probably as real as big L. Probably
- 54:56not. It probably was just a rabid bear, to be
- 54:59honest. What?
- 55:00>> Skylar: Well, u let's hope it was neither. Okay. U Anyone
- 55:03else for a scary story?
- 55:05>> Cameron: I guess I'm up.
- 55:06>> Skylar: Oh, okay.
- 55:07>> Skylar: U yeah, go for it. U So be Joe. Yeah.
- 55:09>> Cameron: Yeah. So u as you know, I've told you guys, I'm
- 55:12a YouTuber. None of you guys have checked out my channel, though I've
- 55:15noticed at they gain
- 55:17subscribers.
- 55:18>> Cameron: Yeah, the bad signal out here.
- 55:21>> Cameron: There's like no signal. Must be that. But, you know, I
- 55:24I m. I told you guys I made a viral video a couple years ago.
- 55:27>> Skylar: This.
- 55:27>> Cameron: So this is the story of that viral video that I
- 55:30made that got me.
- 55:32>> Cameron: Did you make that m Neon. Neon
- 55:34cat video?
- 55:35>> Skylar: The rules. You're breaking the rules.
- 55:37>> Cameron: What rule?
- 55:38>> Skylar: He's got the totem.
- 55:39>> Cameron: Well, I, have questions. Can see one us these he said
- 55:41viral video.
- 55:42>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 55:43>> Cameron: Were you the one that bit David's finger?
- 55:45>> Cameron: No, that was Charlie, though.
- 55:48>> Skylar: Charlie bit the finger. All right, no more interruptions.
- 55:51All right. So.
- 55:59>> Cameron: I know we haven't known each other that long, but you know, the main thing you
- 56:02guys should know about me? You should know about it. You should know this
- 56:05about me. Yet by this point, I'm all into the weird stuff, right?
- 56:08Know cryptozoology, unexplained
- 56:11phenomena.
- 56:12>> Skylar: Bigfoot.
- 56:14>> Cameron: yeah, I'm a believer. Always have been. Even more
- 56:17so now because a few months back, a few years back,
- 56:20I finally got a crew together. Three other hardcore
- 56:23squatch heads and we were headed up to the Redwood
- 56:25National Park. And we were determined to find proof.
- 56:28Not some blurry photo that was taken
- 56:31like with a potato. Proof
- 56:34of Bigfoot. So we spent the day out there
- 56:37hiking through the giant trees that kind of make you
- 56:40feel tiny. We had some pretty old, pretty solid
- 56:42equipment, which is pretty dope, honestly. Thermal cameras and
- 56:45all that. We were even setting a bait, you know. So the whole nine
- 56:48yards, we heard things.
- 56:50>> Fatty Lumpkins: Sure.
- 56:50>> Cameron: Like branches snapping, like weird howls that echoed
- 56:53through the forest, but nothing really concrete. We were starting to
- 56:56get a little discouraged, to be honest. but then that
- 56:59evening, Just as the sun was starting
- 57:02to dip below the tree line, we
- 57:04saw it moving through the trees, Like a
- 57:07hundred yards away from us. It's huge, Covered in dark
- 57:10fur. Smelled like an old tuna
- 57:13cannon.
- 57:14>> Skylar: Feet.
- 57:14>> Cameron: We knew this was bigfoot.
- 57:17My buddy mark, he had the good camera. So we started
- 57:19filming. His hand was shaking so bad. We could see it was all
- 57:22jerky, but you could see it clear as day.
- 57:25The huge ape like creature Walking through the
- 57:28forest like it owned the place. It glanced our way for a
- 57:31split second, and I swear, his eyes, they.
- 57:33>> Elizabeth: Didn'T just see us.
- 57:34>> Cameron: It was like you could see the thoughts shooting through
- 57:37his brain, like there was intellect there,
- 57:40Human intelligence. He just stood there,
- 57:43analyzing us, Watching us, I guess, Trying to decide
- 57:46what to do next. Anyways, needless to say, we
- 57:49were ecstatic. We had done it. We'd
- 57:52finally found proof of bigfoot.
- 57:54Everything in our power, we were doing it not to burst
- 57:57out Just like ecstatically. And then the
- 58:00creature just stood there. Its gaze was fixed on our
- 58:03little group. And then it let out this sound. Not like a roar.
- 58:06It was
- 58:10not even a howl. It was like a lament. A
- 58:12deep, guttural sound that vibrated in your chest.
- 58:16Really made the hairs on my arms stand on. And it
- 58:18sounded almost like it was in pain. And
- 58:21we start to hear movement in the trees all around us.
- 58:24Not just branches snapping. It was heavy
- 58:27footsteps, Things rustling in the
- 58:30undergrowth. We had no idea what it was, but
- 58:33it was big. And there were many of them,
- 58:36probably more bigfoots, Big feats,
- 58:39Sasquatches, whatever. There was
- 58:42something coming at us, and that's all we knew. We
- 58:45tried to get out of there, but it was like we were surrounded.
- 58:48The fog started to roll in super thick and fast,
- 58:51and we ended up getting separated. I'm huffing and
- 58:54puffing, Just trying to keep moving and telling my heart and
- 58:57lungs that you just gotta keep up. I run a mile
- 59:00before I start to slow down. And I didn't even stop moving. Every
- 59:03time I exhaled, I was calling out for mark,
- 59:05Sarah, or dale. But the only answer I got Was
- 59:08that sound echoing through the trees. And
- 59:11I managed to stumble my way out of the woods Just as the sun
- 59:14was starting to rise, Half starved and terrified.
- 59:17But I can't describe how much. My calves were on fire,
- 59:20too. I drove back to the motel in the town
- 59:23nearby. I locked every lock in the door and
- 59:25barricaded it with the extra bed. I couldn't even shower
- 59:28without the Door being open, and even then I had to hop out every time
- 59:31I heard a noise. Eventually, curiosity got the
- 59:34best of me, and when Mark had panicked back in the forest,
- 59:37he dropped the camera. I'not really sure what compelled
- 59:40me to do this, but I grabbed it before I ran off.
- 59:43And some kind of desire to torture myself further
- 59:46pushed me to open up the files. The footage
- 59:49was incredible. The camera's internal shake
- 59:52absorption really cleared things up. And Mark got
- 59:55himself a top of the lineion piece when he bought it.
- 59:58My stomach sank, though, as I heard that sound again, that low
- 1:00:01bellow that the Bigfoot let out. I felt
- 1:00:03nauseous, but I plugged through the hopes of catching a
- 1:00:06glimpse of anything that could offer some hint of where the
- 1:00:09others went and what happened to them. But it was pretty much
- 1:00:12just footage of me picking up the camera and rushing
- 1:00:15around before it. Tapping the record button and editing the video.
- 1:00:18I decided to upload it. You might have seen it. that's
- 1:00:21my viral video. The one where Bigfoot looks right at the
- 1:00:24camera. It went viral and people said it was the
- 1:00:27best Bigfoot footage they'd ever seen. That
- 1:00:30was us. That was my team. I guess it was mainly
- 1:00:33Mark. I figured there's no need for the footage to go to
- 1:00:35waste, you know, since people went missing trying to get
- 1:00:38it. As far as I know, Mark, Sarah and old Dale
- 1:00:41never came out of those woods. They just
- 1:00:44vanished. No trace. Park rangers searched
- 1:00:47for weeks, but they found nothing. Sometimes, late at night
- 1:00:49when a wind howls through the trees, I can hear that sound
- 1:00:53again, that deep cry. And I can't
- 1:00:55help but wonder, what did we stumble into out there?
- 1:00:58And what price to my friends pay for that
- 1:01:01discovery?
- 1:01:02>> Fatty Lumpkins: You sound awfully nonchalant about watching your
- 1:01:05friends die.
- 1:01:06>> Cameron: We don't know if they died. I am holding out hope
- 1:01:09that they'still out there.
- 1:01:11>> Skylar: As you're saying this, you suddenly feel
- 1:01:14the totem in your hands start to kind of
- 1:01:17vibrate almost and shake. And you watch
- 1:01:20as it starts to glow like a light literally starts
- 1:01:23to come off of it. And in the
- 1:01:26distance towards the forest, you
- 1:01:28swear you hear that same
- 1:01:31lonesome moan erupt
- 1:01:34from above the trees. And you all turn
- 1:01:37to look, because you all hear it. And standing
- 1:01:40about 100 yards away from you
- 1:01:43is the scrungest.
- 1:01:48And with that, we will close out the first episod
- 1:01:51###e
- 1:01:55September
- 1:01:585,
- 1:02:01Anno.
- 1:02:02>> Elizabeth: Domini 1585
- 1:02:06Elizabeth my patient. Love
- 1:02:09the folly of these so called leaders. Here
- 1:02:12is enough to curdle the very milk in a
- 1:02:15bab'mouth we are now settled on
- 1:02:18this Robooke Island, a patch of land,
- 1:02:21wind swept and teeming with little more than trees
- 1:02:24and buzzing insects.
- 1:02:26And what foresight did our esteemed sir, Richard Grenville possess
- 1:02:29in bringing us here? Precious little, it
- 1:02:32seems. The stores are
- 1:02:35dwindling faster than ale at a tavern on market
- 1:02:38day. One would think a man entrusted with such
- 1:02:41a venture would have the sen to ensure we were
- 1:02:43adequately provisioned.
- 1:02:45>> Skylar: But no.
- 1:02:46>> Elizabeth: Now the great sir, Richard, in his infinite wisdom,
- 1:02:49or utter lack thereof, has decided the only course
- 1:02:52of action is to return to England for more supplies.
- 1:02:55To England, Elizabeth. Leaving us
- 1:02:58here, a handful of souls in this wild,
- 1:03:01untamed land, vulnerable to God knows
- 1:03:04what. He
- 1:03:07speaks of a swift return. But I tell you, the man is an
- 1:03:10utter fool. He struts about
- 1:03:13like a peacock one moment and then abandons us like
- 1:03:15unwanted pups the next. Does
- 1:03:18he not see the risk he places us in?
- 1:03:21The natives, though seemingly docile now,
- 1:03:24surely harbour resentment after his
- 1:03:27handling of the silver got affair.
- 1:03:31We are sitting ducks. And his
- 1:03:34reasoning? To sail all the way back across the
- 1:03:36treacherous ocean, risking storms and Spanish
- 1:03:39dogs, when the solution lies practically at our
- 1:03:42feet. These locals.
- 1:03:45These locals, they have their own
- 1:03:48stores, their own ways of sustaining themselves.
- 1:03:51Why not simply take what we need? They
- 1:03:54are but savages, Elizabeth. What right have they
- 1:03:57to hoard resources while Englishmen starve?
- 1:04:01But no, Grenville, in his misplaced
- 1:04:04sense of honor, or perhaps just plain
- 1:04:06cowardice, forbids such a sensible
- 1:04:09action. He pratters on about
- 1:04:11diplomacy and peaceful coexistence. the
- 1:04:14man is an utter simpleton. He has placed
- 1:04:17us all in grave peril with his incompetence and his
- 1:04:20lily livid approach. May God have mercy on
- 1:04:23us, for Grenville certainly will not.
- 1:04:27I can only pray that his abseinence is brief,
- 1:04:30though I hold little hope. We
- 1:04:32must fend for ourselves as best we can in his monumental
- 1:04:35oversight. Write to me as soon as a ship
- 1:04:38makes its way back to these forsaken shores.
- 1:04:41Yours in growing frustration and concern,
- 1:04:44Richard.
