Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host. That's a Chope. Welcome into another
- 0:12Speaker 2: edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:13Speaker 1: The Seahawks get after the Arizona Cardinals at Loominfield, beating
- 0:17Speaker 1: him forty four to twenty two po and it was
- 0:19Speaker 1: not that.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Close, Nah, felt like fifty to zero.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Honestly, what this team is doing the last couple of
- 0:24Speaker 1: weeks is unreal. They are absolutely you know, some would say, okay,
- 0:28Speaker 1: Arizona is the team you should beat. Sure they have
- 0:31Speaker 1: not been blown out this season, and what happened on
- 0:34Speaker 1: Sunday was a beatdown of epic proportions. I say it
- 0:37Speaker 1: every week, and I'm gonna keep saying everybody, because this
- 0:39Speaker 1: is what we're seeing, a style of no one wants
- 0:41Speaker 1: to play through, not a round, but what I'm seeing
- 0:42Speaker 1: right now. The last three words, I've been saying that
- 0:44Speaker 1: mcmcdonald preaches decisive, relentless, shocking. That's what it was. Relentless.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Every play I've played on a couple of teams that
- 0:52Speaker 1: got blown out.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Bump Man, when you.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Find yourself in that thirty five zero you're sitting there like,
- 0:56Speaker 1: how did we get here?
- 0:57Speaker 4: Yeah, and you're literally because it's like then let up.
- 1:00Speaker 4: You're like, there's no way out. There's no way out.
- 1:02Speaker 4: We just gotta run the clock.
- 1:04Speaker 1: You're looking up there, you go, damn, there's twelve minutes
- 1:07Speaker 1: left in the second quarter.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Yeah, and the coaches are quiet on the sideline. The
- 1:11Speaker 4: vibe is all off, I've been I've been beat down.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no you get yet screamed out.
- 1:15Speaker 1: The first two drives come off, and then the next
- 1:17Speaker 1: three you're like, all right, bump, well.
- 1:18Speaker 3: You just accept it.
- 1:19Speaker 1: We gotta figure out that's what's going down. The Seahawks
- 1:22Speaker 1: absolutely taking down the Arizona Cardinals. Let's get right into it.
- 1:24Speaker 1: What had happened, See what happened was what had happened
- 1:29Speaker 1: at first was what had happened was on Hawke Talk,
- 1:33Speaker 1: Seahawks coming out on fire right from the jump. Essentially,
- 1:37Speaker 1: offense gets the ball first drive, seven plays, sixty five yards,
- 1:40Speaker 1: ending when the forty three yard touchdown to Jackson Smith
- 1:43Speaker 1: and Jigba another deep threat. We're gonna break that play
- 1:45Speaker 1: down later. That made the scroll seven to zero and bump.
- 1:49Speaker 1: The crazy thing is there is a time unbelievable to
- 1:51Speaker 1: think about it now, that the Seahawks could not score
- 1:54Speaker 1: on the opening drive, it was wow, unbelievable. Twenty two
- 1:57Speaker 1: straight games without an opening drive touchdown. Those days are gone.
- 2:00Speaker 1: The Seahawks broke that streak in Week two, but now
- 2:02Speaker 1: for this season, including the past two weeks, so it
- 2:05Speaker 1: is it's really refreshing to see because the Seahawks team
- 2:09Speaker 1: playing with the lead is really dangerous.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Yeah, it is dangerous. You feel good about what they
- 2:13Speaker 4: do when they have the lead. So they started the
- 2:15Speaker 4: game with the league. You mentioned the forty three yard
- 2:17Speaker 4: touchdown to Jackson Smith and jigbum and then swing drive
- 2:20Speaker 4: might be down down of a grave blitz got Tyree's
- 2:22Speaker 4: name hit Jakoby brissetid he fumbled. D Law picked that
- 2:25Speaker 4: thing up thirty four yards. It went even a sprint,
- 2:27Speaker 4: It was like a like asual like three quarter speed,
- 2:30Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying, gotten to that end zone.
- 2:32Speaker 4: That made the score fourteen's. They were going to break
- 2:33Speaker 4: that one down as well. The Seahawks defense got a
- 2:36Speaker 4: stop on the falling possession and we're picked up where
- 2:39Speaker 4: they left off. They went down the field nine plays
- 2:41Speaker 4: eighty one yards, ending with a George Hallani touchdown, not
- 2:44Speaker 4: to see him get the call. It was funny here
- 2:45Speaker 4: in this story. He's on the sideline. He said here, hey,
- 2:48Speaker 4: poor hey, you're in. He's like me, and he got
- 2:50Speaker 4: in that thing. He's not used to getting the ball
- 2:51Speaker 4: in that situation, but he did his thing score to
- 2:54Speaker 4: make the score twenty one to zero.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Love.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It's actually a second touchdown this year. If you guys
- 2:58Speaker 1: remember the kickoffs, Oh yeah, where he got that. But
- 3:00Speaker 1: this is his first rushing touchdown. So cool to see that.
- 3:03Speaker 1: And then it's like deja vu bump. This is something
- 3:05Speaker 1: I don't think anyone's seen because it's never happened.
- 3:07Speaker 2: From one. Mike McDonald dials up another great blitz.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Tyree Knight hits Jacoby Brissett, he fumbles to Marcus Lawrence,
- 3:13Speaker 1: picks it up, runs it back for a twenty two
- 3:14Speaker 1: yard touchdown that made the score twenty eight zero. And
- 3:19Speaker 1: no words for that. I mean McDonald came out, Tyre
- 3:22Speaker 1: Knight came out. The first two times they've died up
- 3:24Speaker 1: these blitzer this season, they were different, but same result.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And for the ball to just bounced that way, it
- 3:29Speaker 1: is hard for that to happen in stride and DeMarcus
- 3:32Speaker 1: Lawrence man just the way you handle the rock, because
- 3:34Speaker 1: a lot of times you got guys kicking it, it's
- 3:36Speaker 1: bouncing everywhere. No, he was smooth with it, picked it
- 3:38Speaker 1: up inside into the end zone. Defense gets another stop
- 3:41Speaker 1: on the falling possession, and the offense kept the pressure
- 3:43Speaker 1: going bump with another six play seventy six yard drive
- 3:46Speaker 1: ending with a six yard touchdown Zach Charbagney That made
- 3:49Speaker 1: the score thirty five zip.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And the route was on.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Yeah, Cooper Cup had a big play during that drive
- 3:54Speaker 4: to right sixty seven yards. Sam Donald looking down the
- 3:57Speaker 4: field finding this guy. Yeah, the route was on. The
- 4:00Speaker 4: game was It was pretty much over eight minutes and
- 4:02Speaker 4: thirty three seconds into the second quarter. I don't think
- 4:04Speaker 4: I felt this way in a long time. Watched the
- 4:07Speaker 4: Seahawks game. Well, I guess the Saints game. Maybe the
- 4:09Speaker 4: commander and how you look.
- 4:10Speaker 3: At it that feels like you're right.
- 4:12Speaker 4: But this one has felt different though, right because you
- 4:14Speaker 4: get two scores from that defense. You know, the offense
- 4:16Speaker 4: is like Sam went threw the ball twelve times right
- 4:18Speaker 4: twelve times.
- 4:20Speaker 3: That's nuts, man.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Now, the second half was a little sloppy to see
- 4:23Speaker 4: how he turned the ball over twice, allowing two score
- 4:25Speaker 4: and drive from the Cardinals. Some of that can be fixed,
- 4:27Speaker 4: the turnovers that it will be fixed this week. I
- 4:29Speaker 4: was on our show today and McDonald described it as
- 4:32Speaker 4: an operational.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Mistakes, you know, with the snap of all that good stuff.
- 4:36Speaker 3: But they'll be all right.
- 4:37Speaker 4: The Hawks would add two field goals in the fourth
- 4:39Speaker 4: quarter and hold on for forty four to twenty two
- 4:41Speaker 4: of victory.
- 4:42Speaker 3: The Hawks rush for a season high one ninety eight.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Should have been two to oh four, but those kneel
- 4:46Speaker 4: downs kind of jacked them up on forty six carries.
- 4:48Speaker 3: And yeah, it was a good overall day.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And if you guys were listening to Cooper Cups press conference,
- 4:52Speaker 1: he's poker fund and Drew Lock for going too far
- 4:55Speaker 1: back on those knees to try to get within two
- 4:57Speaker 1: hundred yards. But I love to see that because to
- 4:59Speaker 1: see see all have been trying to figure out the
- 5:01Speaker 1: running game all season and you're trying to get out
- 5:03Speaker 1: of that game. Obviously you don't need to throw the ball,
- 5:05Speaker 1: but to be able to still run the ball effectively
- 5:07Speaker 1: they did. That's great Hawks defense. Five sacks, ten QB
- 5:10Speaker 1: hits on Jacoby Brissett. This was a beatdown from the jump,
- 5:13Speaker 1: and we talked about domination. The last two weeks. The
- 5:15Speaker 1: Seahawks have outscored opponents sixty nine to fourteen in the
- 5:18Speaker 1: first half the last two weeks. This team is playing
- 5:21Speaker 1: some great football. Bump and jumping these next gen stats
- 5:24Speaker 1: man because it's given an extra layer of well the
- 5:26Speaker 1: Seahawks are playing.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:27Speaker 4: The Seahawks defense generated seven pressures in three sacks when
- 5:31Speaker 4: blitzing in their matchup with the Cardinals. The rookie linebacker
- 5:34Speaker 4: were not a rookie this second year. Tyree's Night recorded
- 5:37Speaker 4: two sacks on two blitz attempts. Officion DeMarcus Lawrence recorded
- 5:40Speaker 4: as two defensive touchdowns on blitzes. Despite Seattle only blitzing
- 5:44Speaker 4: twenty percent of drop backs, that's actually higher than their
- 5:47Speaker 4: league average two or their their yearly average in line
- 5:50Speaker 4: with their season average a little all right, little close close.
- 5:53Speaker 4: When sending for a fewer pass rushes, the Seahawks pressure
- 5:56Speaker 4: Cardinals quarterbacks on thirty seven point two percent of dropbacks,
- 5:59Speaker 4: accounting for sixteen of their twenty three total pressures and
- 6:02Speaker 4: two other five sacks. That's pretty good. That's a good
- 6:06Speaker 4: way to live. Great way to live healthy living right there.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I mean getting to the quarterback without bringing pressure, and
- 6:11Speaker 1: when you do, you hit home runs every time.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I love to see that.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And then we talked about the running game and running
- 6:17Speaker 1: the carry. In the game where the Seahawks led by
- 6:19Speaker 1: double digits for fifty five gay minutes, the Seahawks offense
- 6:22Speaker 1: called the run play on seventy eight percent of their plays,
- 6:25Speaker 1: the third highest rate in the Next Gen Stats era
- 6:28Speaker 1: since twenty sixteen. Obviously, that happens when you're beating down
- 6:31Speaker 1: a team like the Seahawks were, but still it's a
- 6:32Speaker 1: refreshing because they were still able to do things with that.
- 6:35Speaker 1: On the team's forty six carries across seven different ball carries,
- 6:37Speaker 1: the Seahawks ga one hundred and nine eight yards, six
- 6:39Speaker 1: explosive runs, thirteen combined miss tackles, be often sided by
- 6:43Speaker 1: Zach Sharbonne fourteen carries eighty three yards in a touchdown,
- 6:46Speaker 1: including a season high five miss tackles force.
- 6:49Speaker 2: It was all good.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It was all roses for the Seahawks bump. But when
- 6:52Speaker 1: you look at it in totality, what you learn from
- 6:54Speaker 1: this game.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Ah that the fast starts on a mistake.
- 7:00Speaker 4: If there's something in their preparation and the scripts if
- 7:04Speaker 4: you have one, I'm sure Kubiak has one, and the
- 7:06Speaker 4: focus to where starting off slow is no longer an
- 7:09Speaker 4: option and it's not who they are anymore. They are
- 7:12Speaker 4: gonna be a game or two where they start slow.
- 7:13Speaker 4: But you mentioned the streak twenty two weeks without having
- 7:17Speaker 4: a first drive score. That's over. It's gonna happen eventually again.
- 7:20Speaker 4: But the slow starts isn't who they are anymore.
- 7:23Speaker 3: And I like that.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Yeah, And for me, it's just consistency to do this
- 7:27Speaker 1: week in and week out. I don't care if you're
- 7:28Speaker 1: spot first of all, is the NFL ye for one.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And to do this to teams, yeah, you probably should
- 7:34Speaker 1: be the Commanders and the Cardinals. But to do it
- 7:36Speaker 1: as decisively as they did, that's when you see great
- 7:39Speaker 1: teams versus good teams. Right, good teams might eke out
- 7:41Speaker 1: a win seven points, play a little soppy. No, the
- 7:44Speaker 1: Seahawks Right now, I'm telling you, man, something special is
- 7:47Speaker 1: happening here. And there's tons of people on the field
- 7:49Speaker 1: making plays, playmakers, touching playmakers to them.
- 7:58Speaker 2: What time?
- 8:00Speaker 1: Oh wait, I won't talk about the second year guy
- 8:03Speaker 1: Tyree Knight at a UTEP. He was balling and I
- 8:07Speaker 1: love his story too because he came in he was
- 8:10Speaker 1: starting this year. Him and Drake Thomas have in battling
- 8:12Speaker 1: all the year for reps obviously when Ernest Jones is
- 8:14Speaker 1: healthy and Drake Thomas kind of took over that role
- 8:17Speaker 1: as in a starting way. But Tyree Snye has been
- 8:19Speaker 1: stayed locked in. He came in in the Commander's game,
- 8:21Speaker 1: had a great game. Let the team in tackles comes
- 8:23Speaker 1: back on Sunday. Eight tackles, two sacks, two QB hits two,
- 8:28Speaker 1: two forced fumbles and three tackles for loss. And just
- 8:31Speaker 1: the timing right. It's not a mistake. You got a
- 8:33Speaker 1: time blitzer up the right way and when you're getting
- 8:35Speaker 1: to the quarterback because you still got to secure the tackle.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I mean that's a bonus. The fumble and the returning
- 8:39Speaker 1: for a touchdown. But the way he hit Jacoby Brissette
- 8:41Speaker 1: before that arm was moving forward. Just love to see
- 8:43Speaker 1: him locked in. And I think what I saw the
- 8:46Speaker 1: most out of him was pulling the trigger and going
- 8:48Speaker 1: and being physical, and I think that's what his game lacked.
- 8:50Speaker 1: We saw it on Sunday. And when you're having all
- 8:53Speaker 1: these linebackers playing at that level. I'm telling you, the
- 8:55Speaker 1: depth on this team of playmakers is crazy on defense
- 8:58Speaker 1: right now.
- 8:59Speaker 4: And I was one of the who was surprised that
- 9:01Speaker 4: the Hawks didn't make a move at the trade deadline
- 9:03Speaker 4: to add depth to this position.
- 9:05Speaker 3: What does this tell me?
- 9:06Speaker 4: They know what the heck they're looking at when it
- 9:07Speaker 4: comes to evaluating these players.
- 9:09Speaker 3: They say, now we go with Tyree's night. Drake Thomas
- 9:11Speaker 3: is gonna be fine.
- 9:12Speaker 4: They'll hold it down to Ernest gets back, Ol'toole got
- 9:15Speaker 4: in the game as well. They're good at evaluating these guys.
- 9:17Speaker 4: DeMarcus Lawrence had himself a career day. Four tackles, a
- 9:20Speaker 4: half sacked, three quarterback hits, two fumble recoveries, two return
- 9:24Speaker 4: for touchdown, both of them things. D lost the fourth
- 9:26Speaker 4: player since nineteen twenty with multiple fumble returns in a game,
- 9:30Speaker 4: John al Nesser three in nineteen twenty for the Akron Pros,
- 9:35Speaker 4: Fred Adams to in nineteen forty eight for the Bears,
- 9:39Speaker 4: and Jeremy chen two and twenty twenty for the Panthers.
- 9:44Speaker 4: He says he's he's never had a game like this before,
- 9:47Speaker 4: and my man's a veteran, he's been around a long time.
- 9:50Speaker 2: It was just smooth man.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Just scoop and score nine in stride for the to
- 9:53Speaker 1: not break stride both times and be able to jog
- 9:55Speaker 1: the inZone. DeMarcus Lawrence, We've talked about him a lot
- 9:57Speaker 1: this year. You had a big when he missed the
- 9:59Speaker 1: game earlier this season that impacted this defense. He had
- 10:02Speaker 1: a great game against Jacksonville. He's a veteran, shows we
- 10:04Speaker 1: can do each and every week. So love to see
- 10:06Speaker 1: that there. The rookie Nicky Munuri Man, he is balling
- 10:09Speaker 1: as well. Nine tackles, half the sack is first partial
- 10:12Speaker 1: sack of his NFL career, four passes defended, one QB hit.
- 10:16Speaker 1: He's playing multiple positions on this defense, and when he's
- 10:19Speaker 1: out there at special man because he can lock down
- 10:21Speaker 1: tight ends, he can lock down in the slot. He's physical,
- 10:23Speaker 1: he can blitz kind of everything. They was advertised when
- 10:27Speaker 1: they drafted him in the second round. He probably had
- 10:29Speaker 1: a first round grade. And love what we're seeing from
- 10:31Speaker 1: the rookie man.
- 10:32Speaker 4: These are the first two picks in his draft of
- 10:34Speaker 4: balling this year, Man Sable and Nicki MURRII nice to
- 10:36Speaker 4: see him. Zach Charbonne fourteen carries for eighty three yards
- 10:40Speaker 4: and one touchdown. He just gets downhill. There's no games
- 10:44Speaker 4: with Zach Sharbone. Look, this is where the runs designed
- 10:47Speaker 4: to go. I'm gonna get there and if someone does
- 10:49Speaker 4: miss the block, you know I'm gonna hop over them
- 10:50Speaker 4: and get into the end zone and on his touchdown run.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I gotta show this kid some love, this man some
- 10:56Speaker 4: love because I've been critical of him.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Anthony Bradford.
- 11:00Speaker 4: It somebody of the double team bow lights the guy
- 11:02Speaker 4: out and then climbs to the second level, gets a
- 11:04Speaker 4: linebacker seventy five.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I see you, yeah, And Zach Charbonne, if you're on defense,
- 11:09Speaker 1: I hope you're strapped up, got your mouth piece in,
- 11:11Speaker 1: and you're going correct, because he will run you over
- 11:14Speaker 1: if not. Sam Donald usually lead off with him because
- 11:17Speaker 1: he has been putting video game numbers out there.
- 11:19Speaker 2: He's still fishing.
- 11:20Speaker 1: He's ten to twelve, one seventy eight, one touchdown, one
- 11:22Speaker 1: really unlucky interception. That's been the story of all his
- 11:25Speaker 1: interceptions this year. QB rating of one to eleven. Sam
- 11:28Speaker 1: Donald is the only player in NFL history to record
- 11:31Speaker 1: a passer rating of one hundred or higher and at
- 11:33Speaker 1: least six games of the players first nine with a
- 11:36Speaker 1: team multiple times.
- 11:37Speaker 2: He that last year with Minnesota as well.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So Sam Donald good as advertised, he's playing an MVP level,
- 11:42Speaker 1: and when you're beating someone down that much, you only
- 11:45Speaker 1: throw twelve times.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Twelve times, you have a good day, a great day.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Jayson had another great day. Five receptions for ninety three
- 11:52Speaker 4: yards on six targets. Man I wanted him to get
- 11:54Speaker 4: a hondo five games in a row would have been
- 11:56Speaker 4: one hundred yards, but it's okay.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He had one touchdown for forty three yards.
- 12:00Speaker 4: He's the excason with Jason is the eighth player in
- 12:02Speaker 4: franchise history with back to back one thousand yard seasons.
- 12:06Speaker 4: He became the twenty sixth player in the NFL history
- 12:07Speaker 4: to reach a thousand receiving yards in his first nine games.
- 12:10Speaker 4: He became the third player in the Super Bowl era
- 12:12Speaker 4: with at least seventy five receiving yards in each of
- 12:15Speaker 4: his first nine games of a season, joining Antonio Brown
- 12:19Speaker 4: and Michael Irvin. He is now top five for most
- 12:22Speaker 4: receiving yards by a player in his team's first nine
- 12:25Speaker 4: games of the season the Super Bowl era, with one
- 12:26Speaker 4: thousand and forty one and he got going quick. First
- 12:29Speaker 4: half he had eighty two, you know, and first drive
- 12:32Speaker 4: he re established himself and that was what was impressive
- 12:34Speaker 4: to me is that, you know, they want to get
- 12:37Speaker 4: him the football. Yeah, you would think defense is gonna
- 12:39Speaker 4: be like, listen, this is not gonna happen. We're gonna
- 12:41Speaker 4: make sure we're on top of him, maybe bracket him.
- 12:45Speaker 4: And what opened him up was actually Rashisha he's going
- 12:48Speaker 4: across the field. Maybu de Baker have to bite down
- 12:50Speaker 4: respect that speed over the top. They did a little
- 12:52Speaker 4: box out, caught the rock for his touchdown. Jason, this
- 12:56Speaker 4: is what he does.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Pretty good football player.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 1: The fact that he's almost had more receiving yards scene
- 13:03Speaker 1: did all of last season and it took him way
- 13:05Speaker 1: more receptions to get there.
- 13:06Speaker 2: That's the crazy thing about what he's doing.
- 13:08Speaker 1: He's just so incredibly efficient and there is not a
- 13:11Speaker 1: better I would love someone to show me the numbers
- 13:13Speaker 1: out there a better combination between quarterbacks to wide receiver
- 13:17Speaker 1: than what we're seeing because of the production, the targets,
- 13:20Speaker 1: how we're getting there, it's unreal. Right, We'll make sure
- 13:23Speaker 1: to have a nice e quick breakdown for that later
- 13:25Speaker 1: this week because they're playing at an MVP level, and I
- 13:27Speaker 1: love what we're seeing out of those two. And big
- 13:29Speaker 1: ups to twenty seven Reek Wooling, you know out not
- 13:32Speaker 1: us obviously, but outside of his building. I think he's
- 13:35Speaker 1: got a lot of heat. And Riek Wollan is playing
- 13:37Speaker 1: some really good football. He came back and some Commanders
- 13:39Speaker 1: played some really good ball. He's stacking wins. Like coach
- 13:42Speaker 1: McDonald's like to say, week after week, three tackles, two
- 13:45Speaker 1: passes offended. I thought he looked really good yesterday. And again,
- 13:48Speaker 1: the depth of this defense everywhere doesn't matter. Okay, you
- 13:51Speaker 1: didn't have Josh Job, you don't have Ernest Jones, you
- 13:53Speaker 1: don't have Julian Love, you don't have Jaron Reid. Okay,
- 13:56Speaker 1: the next man up. Still, there's so many dudes on
- 13:58Speaker 1: this defense. I love what we're seeing. Bump wide receiver,
- 14:01Speaker 1: round up.
- 14:02Speaker 4: All right, Jayson, Like we mentioned, ninety three yards one
- 14:04Speaker 4: touchdown along a forty three Cooper Cup had two receptions
- 14:07Speaker 4: for seventy four a long of sixty seven. Arroyo had
- 14:11Speaker 4: one catch, Rashid had one catch, Ken Walker had one,
- 14:14Speaker 4: and caller up had a target. I was hoping he picked,
- 14:16Speaker 4: he had his catch man. We interviewed him on Thursdays.
- 14:19Speaker 4: He seems like a good dude.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Now looking at this, you would assume that it was
- 14:24Speaker 1: a rough night for the Seahawks. It's completely opposite way
- 14:27Speaker 1: because of the defensive touchdowns. So good to see there.
- 14:29Speaker 1: That'll bring us we've kind of touched on in a
- 14:31Speaker 1: little bit. That'll bring us to our plays of the game.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Jayson has been a staple in this segment and he
- 14:36Speaker 1: will be for the remainder of the year because they
- 14:37Speaker 1: keep making plays. Sam Darnold finding Jackson Smith agiguar for
- 14:41Speaker 1: a forty three yard touchdown at.
- 14:43Speaker 6: The Arizona forty three opening drive by the Seahawks. Playfake
- 14:47Speaker 6: and Donald's gonna roll left hasttime, gonna let it fly,
- 14:50Speaker 6: got a man deep reaching.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Up touchdown jay Hawks and guess who Jackson fifth and
- 14:59Speaker 5: Jacob with the touchdown reception tightly covered but dropping that
- 15:04Speaker 5: baby in the bucket.
- 15:06Speaker 6: Sam Donald from forty three out the wall top six offer.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Yeah, So you're in a balance formation right now. You
- 15:13Speaker 4: have Sam Donald under center, two tight ends on the wings,
- 15:16Speaker 4: and two receivers Jason Leafia Rashid.
- 15:19Speaker 3: To the right and K nine in the backfield.
- 15:22Speaker 4: So what this does is that motion is similar right
- 15:25Speaker 4: when a lot of times when the Hawks do that motion,
- 15:28Speaker 4: it's gonna be a run. You're gonna take care of
- 15:29Speaker 4: the n and you're gonna hand the full ball off.
- 15:31Speaker 4: They have some great actors on this team. That's exactly
- 15:34Speaker 4: what happens. You fake the handoff, the tight end takes
- 15:36Speaker 4: care of the n right there. It's a perfect call
- 15:38Speaker 4: for what the defense is trying to do as well. Right,
- 15:40Speaker 4: you got your linebacker on the blitz and then the
- 15:43Speaker 4: other linebacker has to fill that area. So now you
- 15:46Speaker 4: got the middle of the field wide open. So essentially
- 15:48Speaker 4: the Arizona Cardinals are playing four deep. Right, you got
- 15:51Speaker 4: four guys dropping back in the coverage. The rule for
- 15:53Speaker 4: the Cardinals is the safety to the far side has
- 15:57Speaker 4: to take the deep crosser if it's coming your side.
- 15:59Speaker 4: That's exactly what happens with booter Baker. He drops down.
- 16:01Speaker 4: You see Rashid one of the fastest guys in the game.
- 16:03Speaker 4: You have to drop on him. So now let's focus
- 16:05Speaker 4: on JSN. JSN widens his corner right at the numbers,
- 16:09Speaker 4: who creates some space? Get him away from that safety
- 16:11Speaker 4: buys himself some time. Now he gets vertical. Sam Donald
- 16:15Speaker 4: rolls out that thing, fakes the handoff. K nine picks
- 16:18Speaker 4: up the block and now he sees one on one.
- 16:20Speaker 4: I'm gonna let this thing fly to my receiver. JSN
- 16:23Speaker 4: tracking the football boxes the dB out catches it right
- 16:27Speaker 4: before the safety gets there, and the rest is history.
- 16:30Speaker 4: If you look at the offensive line, it's just the
- 16:32Speaker 4: action in the flow. Everything that the line is doing says, look,
- 16:35Speaker 4: this is going to be a zone right type of Look.
- 16:36Speaker 4: That's what I mean when I say these guys are
- 16:38Speaker 4: great actors. You get the line, step into the right,
- 16:41Speaker 4: you have your tied and taking care of the edge.
- 16:43Speaker 4: This looks like a split zone. But you fake the handoff,
- 16:46Speaker 4: you all around, you flip the hips, you let it go.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Strike up the band, JSN with another touchdown.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I mean, again, we don't have enough words to talk
- 16:54Speaker 1: about how good JSN has been. But for me, it's
- 16:56Speaker 1: his ability to track the football, stay calm with the
- 16:59Speaker 1: balls in the air, control his body.
- 17:01Speaker 2: It's elite.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And then but he's just smoothed with it right and
- 17:04Speaker 1: then the subtle box out right there, because again he's
- 17:06Speaker 1: never gonna do He's never gonna be a guy that's
- 17:08Speaker 1: gonna eat called for offensive passing. Apperances is the way
- 17:10Speaker 1: his body moves there, and honestly, the corner plays pretty
- 17:14Speaker 1: well until it's time to make a play. And that's
- 17:16Speaker 1: right there. Like I said, that subtle box out and
- 17:18Speaker 1: again you just watch his body movement.
- 17:20Speaker 2: It's all smooth, you know.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Sometimes I feel like lesser players balls in the air,
- 17:25Speaker 1: it gets kind of frantic, right with their arms, with
- 17:27Speaker 1: their movements. No, Jason is smooth. And then he gets
- 17:30Speaker 1: a perfect throw from Sam Darnold. Safety's late getting over.
- 17:33Speaker 1: It's a wrap touchdown. Jason.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Stop me if you've seen.
- 17:36Speaker 1: That before, because it is over and over again, and
- 17:38Speaker 1: those guys are playing at an incredibly high level. But
- 17:41Speaker 1: it's time to show some loves to the defense man.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Tyree Sny We talked about it. Him and DeMarcus Lawrence
- 17:46Speaker 1: were involved in two huge plays. We're gonna take a
- 17:48Speaker 1: look at the first one at Jacoby Brissett sacked by
- 17:51Speaker 1: Tyree Knight, fumbled, DeMarcus Lawrence picks it up and he
- 17:53Speaker 1: does the rest.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Oman Waurie Bryant all in the secondary. Bryan looks like
- 17:59Speaker 3: he wants to blitz.
- 18:00Speaker 6: He does Brissette hits his back, but he gets hit
- 18:03Speaker 6: as he throws the balls picked up.
- 18:06Speaker 2: It's going the other way. It's DeMarcus Lawrence. He's gonna
- 18:09Speaker 2: walk in touchdown Seahawks.
- 18:11Speaker 6: If it stands, Arizona is gonna argue that Brissette's arm
- 18:16Speaker 6: was going forward. It's now called a touchdown. Seahawks thirty
- 18:21Speaker 6: two yards. D Long pitch it up and takes it in.
- 18:27Speaker 6: They'll replay, They'll look, let's see if it stands getting
- 18:32Speaker 6: there before the arm was coming forward. That was tyres
- 18:37Speaker 6: Knight on the blitz.
- 18:39Speaker 4: We talk about dialing up the perfect blitz at the
- 18:42Speaker 4: right time. This is exactly what happens when we mentioned
- 18:44Speaker 4: that that Mike MacDonald doesn't blitz a lot bottom four
- 18:47Speaker 4: or five when it comes to blitzing and sending guys.
- 18:49Speaker 4: But you overwhelm the left side of this offensive line. Now,
- 18:53Speaker 4: the Arizona Cardinals checking an eligible big man. He's a
- 18:56Speaker 4: guy to the left of the formation for the Cardinals
- 18:59Speaker 4: on the wing. They motioned him. They should have just
- 19:01Speaker 4: kept him there.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:02Speaker 4: If I were Jacoby Brisset, I don't know if he
- 19:04Speaker 4: has a freedom to do this, I would have been like,
- 19:06Speaker 4: look hot, hot, hot, yoga, yo yoga, whatever you gotta
- 19:09Speaker 4: say to say. Look, you stay right there because the
- 19:11Speaker 4: Hawks are clearly showing blitz from that side. You got
- 19:13Speaker 4: Nicki Muroriy who's going to creep down. So what happens
- 19:16Speaker 4: is they just overwhelmed the left side of the line.
- 19:19Speaker 4: If we're talking from the Arizona Cardinals perspective, right, you
- 19:22Speaker 4: have Nick and Mariori blitzing off the end. If you
- 19:24Speaker 4: just count the numbers, you have the center, the guard,
- 19:28Speaker 4: and the tackle plus the wing guy. That's four guys
- 19:31Speaker 4: over there. You factor in the running back into the situation,
- 19:34Speaker 4: you have five. But you know what, you got that
- 19:37Speaker 4: wing guy who motions Zulvery's taking care of that side,
- 19:39Speaker 4: and your cinner is taking care by our occupied by
- 19:42Speaker 4: I believe that is Murphy over there. So you send
- 19:44Speaker 4: Nick Muroriy off the edge, he cuts back into the middle.
- 19:47Speaker 4: The running back has to take care of him, and
- 19:49Speaker 4: then Tyres just does the rest. It's just overwhelming that
- 19:53Speaker 4: left side of the line. And then you know what
- 19:55Speaker 4: happens when you run to the football and ass you
- 19:57Speaker 4: might just get a gift. And that's what happened with d.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Long thousand percent. I have written down here too. Overwhelmed.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That's what happened. You overwhelm the protection you bring more
- 20:04Speaker 1: than they can block. I thought it was a great
- 20:06Speaker 1: point if you would have kept the big man over there.
- 20:08Speaker 2: You don't.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And then Kobe Bryant coming off the edge, em and
- 20:10Speaker 1: Warrior over there, DeMarcus Lawrence getting inside, and a couple
- 20:14Speaker 1: of things for one obviously great play by Tyre nine.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Can't say that enough.
- 20:18Speaker 1: But what I love about d law again, it seems
- 20:21Speaker 1: so simple because he made it look so easy, because
- 20:23Speaker 1: he picks the ball up in stride. Shout out to
- 20:25Speaker 1: my former high school coach, Coach Stewart and Bill Hummel
- 20:28Speaker 1: down there and met it at the time, and you'd
- 20:30Speaker 1: practice it when you're doing your turnover circuit. All this
- 20:32Speaker 1: stuff city versus country. This is a d real we
- 20:34Speaker 1: did every day, right. If the balls on the ground,
- 20:37Speaker 1: if it's in the city, that means there's a ton
- 20:39Speaker 1: of people around you, you just fall on it. If
- 20:40Speaker 1: it's in the country, you picked that thing up and
- 20:42Speaker 1: run it back and it's just smooth. Yes, he gets
- 20:44Speaker 1: a good bounce but does not break stride in the
- 20:46Speaker 1: end zone. Love what they did there and again when
- 20:51Speaker 1: you dial stuff up and you hit. It's amazing too
- 20:53Speaker 1: because you have more stuff on film now John McVay
- 20:56Speaker 1: and then Los Angeles rams are looking at game film
- 20:58Speaker 1: and there's more stuff that they have to diagnos just
- 21:00Speaker 1: because of that, right, and you look at it. Brisett's
- 21:02Speaker 1: trying to hit Trey McBride. I think that's where he
- 21:04Speaker 1: was going to and mcride a little delayed Stayson and
- 21:08Speaker 1: their blocos there. But again, when you when you blitz
- 21:11Speaker 1: like that, you to bring that kind of pressure. You
- 21:12Speaker 1: got to get home. The Seahawks trying to keep everything
- 21:14Speaker 1: in front of the secondary. So great play level, we said,
- 21:17Speaker 1: overwhelmed the protection, that's all she wrote. And Jacoby Brisett, man,
- 21:20Speaker 1: that's tough man. He's played the Seahawks couple times and
- 21:22Speaker 1: he's been abused on the second time. Back when he's
- 21:24Speaker 1: playing with the Colts, they got whooped on the Sunday
- 21:26Speaker 1: night football like forty something to twelve. Last year in
- 21:30Speaker 1: New England, he got shacked a bunch of times. So yeah,
- 21:33Speaker 1: the Seahawks have his number. They got it done, and
- 21:37Speaker 1: again that sets up the best formation in football, victory formation.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Here comes the Seahawks offense on to the field and
- 21:44Speaker 6: the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that one meal
- 21:49Speaker 6: down and the Seahawks are gonna wine the clock down
- 21:53Speaker 6: and win this one.
- 21:54Speaker 2: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk domination.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Second week in a row. The Seahawks jump out to
- 21:59Speaker 1: a thirty five year lead. And second quarter, but this
- 22:02Speaker 1: is National Football League. You're not supposed to be up
- 22:04Speaker 1: thirty five this year. And the second quarter, Man, this
- 22:06Speaker 1: was the high school me in running clock. Yeah, that's
- 22:09Speaker 1: what was going down big. Thanks Tyree s nine. DeMarcus
- 22:12Speaker 1: Lawrence responsible for fourteen points two touchdowns on defense, and
- 22:16Speaker 1: this unit is playing well.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I used to love a running clock in high school game.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Be over by like nine o'clock.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Out of there. Man, Hey, like you said, Tyree's night.
- 22:24Speaker 4: DeMarcus lown is doing their thing. Fourteen points in the war,
- 22:26Speaker 4: Sam Darnal only threw it twelve times. Because of the
- 22:30Speaker 4: contributions from everybody. The running game got going, got a
- 22:33Speaker 4: buck nine day on forty six carries. Now they also
- 22:36Speaker 4: outscored opponents sixty nine to fourteen in the first half
- 22:39Speaker 4: the last two weeks. You do that, you're probably going
- 22:42Speaker 4: to win those contests.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and then who's dominating Number eleven, Jackson, Smith and
- 22:47Speaker 1: Jag but breaking almost every single season record the Seahawks
- 22:50Speaker 1: have in the in the history books, and he's gonna
- 22:53Speaker 1: continue to do that as the season goes on. The
- 22:55Speaker 1: Seahawks have won nine in a row against Arizona ten
- 22:58Speaker 1: in the last eleven.
- 22:59Speaker 2: It has been ownership now at this point.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Yeah, they're they're playing at a different level, and they
- 23:03Speaker 4: were missing some dudes. Jay Love wasn't there, Jay Ree
- 23:06Speaker 4: wasn't there, Ernest wasn't there. Ernest wasn't there, and his
- 23:08Speaker 4: replacement had a career day.
- 23:10Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 23:11Speaker 4: The backos are doing more than this, backing of their
- 23:14Speaker 4: contributing man a. The table is set for a big one.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Now.
- 23:17Speaker 4: We didn't want to talk about it last week, same
- 23:20Speaker 4: focus on the Cardinals and the guys at exactly that.
- 23:23Speaker 4: But now come on seven and two versus seven and two,
- 23:26Speaker 4: you got the Rams.
- 23:26Speaker 1: We can as a Seahawks fan, as a football fan,
- 23:29Speaker 1: there's nothing else that you could ask for then a
- 23:30Speaker 1: matchup like this, top of the division, both teams seven
- 23:33Speaker 1: and two, a huge matchup down at SOFI Stadium. Michael
- 23:37Speaker 1: Bumpas and I are going to have you covered with
- 23:38Speaker 1: all the matchups, we get ready for that this weekend.
- 23:41Speaker 2: It's gonna be fun.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Bumped and this is this is what it's about, and
- 23:45Speaker 1: the Seahawks have a huge opportunity to really show the
- 23:47Speaker 1: rest of the nation they're for real against a good
- 23:49Speaker 1: football team. Seahawks beat down the Cardinals forty four to
- 23:52Speaker 1: twenty two. He's Michael bumpas on Nasachoby. This has been
- 23:56Speaker 1: Hawk Talk.
- 24:00Speaker 6: Do all I
