- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey guys, welcome to the Almost Samis podcast. Today we
- 0:08Speaker 2: have a guest and he's with me. Ben's not with me.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Ben is away on another who knows what trip. The
- 0:16Speaker 2: man is very important, Okay, he's literally always on a
- 0:19Speaker 2: business trip. But today we have Thomas Jacobs here to
- 0:24Speaker 2: tell us everything about what's going on in his life.
- 0:26Speaker 2: We haven't heard from you and Becca in quite some time,
- 0:29Speaker 2: so I feel like I was like, wait, what was
- 0:33Speaker 2: the last time you guys did an interview about baby
- 0:35Speaker 2: Benny or anything like that.
- 0:37Speaker 3: We did a brief interview talking about our new non
- 0:40Speaker 3: OUC company, Improv Beverages, and of course that immediately spun
- 0:44Speaker 3: into what's going on with Benson, how's fatherhood, how's everything
- 0:46Speaker 3: going in your life? When are you getting married? It's
- 0:48Speaker 3: like whoa. So it's been a while since we've had
- 0:51Speaker 3: a formal sit down, and I can't emphasize enough how
- 0:54Speaker 3: honored I am to be doing this with you and
- 0:57Speaker 3: not Ben Higgins, because I mean just getting Ben. We
- 1:01Speaker 3: miss you.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Ben is an integral part of your life because like
- 1:08Speaker 2: Becca and him went on tour together. So if you
- 1:11Speaker 2: go on tour with somebody, I feel like you're just
- 1:13Speaker 2: together for life, Like you don't have to even talk
- 1:16Speaker 2: for years, but you just know that when you get together,
- 1:20Speaker 2: you're gonna click immediately again, because you know, they just
- 1:25Speaker 2: they had so many meals together, they were at so
- 1:27Speaker 2: many hotels together.
- 1:29Speaker 3: All that maybe the sound weird.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I'm sorry, well, do you want to know? You want
- 1:33Speaker 2: to talk about weird? I got a d M yesterday.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I don't know how out of touch this person is,
- 1:39Speaker 2: but I sent it to Jared who's He's in Rhode
- 1:42Speaker 2: Island right now and I'm in Virginia and Ben in
- 1:45Speaker 2: a group message, and it was just like, this is
- 1:47Speaker 2: too funny. But this person goes like this.
- 1:49Speaker 3: While you're pulling that up another full circle moment to
- 1:52Speaker 3: put a nice ball on that. It's even more important
- 1:55Speaker 3: for Ben Higgins in this world because his wedding is
- 1:57Speaker 3: where I met you and Jared, So, I mean.
- 2:00Speaker 2: If so back part of your life.
- 2:03Speaker 3: This was meant to be. This was meant to be.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I remember Jared and I we were in the hallway
- 2:07Speaker 3: in front of the bathroom and co Check just geeking
- 2:09Speaker 3: out over who was the best rendition of Batman? And
- 2:12Speaker 3: we went deep down that rabble hole and it was just.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I remember that moment happening, and I was like, I
- 2:17Speaker 2: guess I'll excuse myself. So you saw me then where
- 2:20Speaker 2: I was very pregnant, and now here I am again.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I don't know how time flies so fast. But I
- 2:25Speaker 2: got a message yesterday from somebody. It was the first
- 2:27Speaker 2: message they ever sent me on Instagram, and it says Jared.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It was so weird because it was in response to,
- 2:36Speaker 2: like me talking about my door dash order. Jared is
- 2:42Speaker 2: shitty for you. I know you can do better. Please
- 2:46Speaker 2: marry Ben? What and then what? Underneath?
- 2:51Speaker 3: It?
- 2:51Speaker 2: Same into story she's responding to. And I do meal
- 2:56Speaker 2: planning at least a week in advance for grocery purpose
- 3:00Speaker 2: is so that I have items like bananas and avocado.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I think she was pitching you to sign up for
- 3:07Speaker 3: a new meal delivery subscription. Quite frankly, she seems like
- 3:10Speaker 3: a reputable, solid source you get your meals from. But
- 3:14Speaker 3: I say, you just did you respond? Did you say
- 3:16Speaker 3: anything to her? No?
- 3:17Speaker 2: No, no, no, But I had a good, good laugh.
- 3:19Speaker 3: What did you just doubled down and be like, oh
- 3:21Speaker 3: my gosh, I've been waiting for someone to say this.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Can I vent to you for a second? Ben and
- 3:26Speaker 3: I we have this whole charades. Justs is in on
- 3:29Speaker 3: it too. How do we get rid of?
- 3:35Speaker 2: So that brought up in our text message the three
- 3:38Speaker 2: of us the show wife Swap, which they did an
- 3:42Speaker 2: episode with Sean and Catherine and then they also didn't
- 3:45Speaker 2: and then they swapped lives with Jason and Molly. What
- 3:49Speaker 2: bachelor couple would you like to switch love just for
- 3:53Speaker 2: three days? I think that's what wive swap?
- 3:55Speaker 3: Is it?
- 3:55Speaker 2: Maybe a week?
- 3:56Speaker 3: Easy? I'd have an answer. I'll do it three days
- 3:58Speaker 3: a week a month of lifetime.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Give me Kenny and Maury, Kenny and Mary. So that
- 4:03Speaker 2: meant Mary is your wife for a week.
- 4:05Speaker 3: No, no, no, Kenny is my husband for a week.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Kenny and I were just going to go and we're
- 4:09Speaker 3: going to Gallavan and we're going to live our best lives.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Kenny Brush is one million percent my bachtfor Nation Crush.
- 4:16Speaker 3: And if I had to wife swap with anybody, it
- 4:19Speaker 3: would be husband swap and Kenny and I would just
- 4:21Speaker 3: we were just right off into the sunset and it
- 4:23Speaker 3: would be phenomenal.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Well, Kenny is a good bachlorination crush to have.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I think he's the only Bachtnation crush to have, like
- 4:30Speaker 3: anyone who has any other answer, They're just subjective question.
- 4:34Speaker 3: He's the answer.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I feel like they're very underrated, like just beauty wise,
- 4:38Speaker 2: they're just so underrated, Like people need to talk about
- 4:40Speaker 2: them being so hot together more often. All right, let's
- 4:43Speaker 2: let's get to the important stuff, you being a dad,
- 4:45Speaker 2: you and beck At getting married, because as we established,
- 4:48Speaker 2: you haven't really done a very in depth interview about
- 4:52Speaker 2: all this stuff. So let's start with baby Benny, who
- 4:58Speaker 2: I cannot believe is about six months now.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, just about to be six months. Happened so fast.
- 5:04Speaker 2: This is such an awkward question, but I know you
- 5:06Speaker 2: guys were engaged when you conceived him. Were you trying
- 5:10Speaker 2: or was it just.
- 5:11Speaker 3: First try first? We could we can he was conceived.
- 5:15Speaker 3: We know the exact moment Christmas morning. Christmas morning, after
- 5:20Speaker 3: all the presents were unwrapped, after the sinmon rolls were
- 5:22Speaker 3: eating and everyone else was sleeping, We're like, hey, you
- 5:25Speaker 3: know that thing we talked about a couple of days ago,
- 5:28Speaker 3: and then like two and a half minutes later, Benny
- 5:30Speaker 3: was planned, and here we are. It's amazing.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, So you knew that she was fertile,
- 5:35Speaker 2: like that was our ovulation window.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, we were peeing on sticks. I kept telling
- 5:41Speaker 3: her from day one. I'm like, baby, I got some
- 5:42Speaker 3: really strong swimmers here. I mean, don't say you're ready
- 5:44Speaker 3: unless you're ready.
- 5:47Speaker 2: You were right, you knew. How did you know this?
- 5:50Speaker 3: Uh, there's a strong word in my life called manifestation.
- 5:54Speaker 3: And yeah, we had pep talks every night before bed.
- 5:57Speaker 3: We like, guys, daddy, daddy needs this, he wants this
- 6:00Speaker 3: so badly.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Come on spread affirmations.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yes, yes, put him on your mirror. But in all honesty,
- 6:07Speaker 3: it was just a huge blessing. I know, I know
- 6:09Speaker 3: fertility is a really hot topic for a lot of families.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Were so fortunate and so blessed to be able to
- 6:15Speaker 3: have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby, and it's
- 6:18Speaker 3: just life is so much better now with him. But
- 6:20Speaker 3: first track, right right after we started talking about it,
- 6:22Speaker 3: we had we had confirmation.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Oh that's sweet. So I know that you guys were
- 6:27Speaker 2: supposed to get married. You had a specific date in October,
- 6:31Speaker 2: but you ended up getting married a couple of days
- 6:33Speaker 2: after that planned date. But you did courthouse wedding. Did
- 6:37Speaker 2: you before you you know, before she found out she
- 6:41Speaker 2: was pregnant with him, were you planning more of a
- 6:43Speaker 2: formal wedding or were you always planning at doing courthouse.
- 6:47Speaker 3: No, we were planning. We still are planning. We wanted
- 6:50Speaker 3: to have a large celebration. Our favorite era is the
- 6:53Speaker 3: nineteen twenties prohibition gas besque, so our vision. We were
- 6:58Speaker 3: looking at all these venues. We were figuring out how
- 7:00Speaker 3: we're going to fit the live brass band, and we
- 7:02Speaker 3: were looking at where we could have aerial lists perform,
- 7:05Speaker 3: and where the champagne towers would go, and this whole
- 7:09Speaker 3: crazy display of like the nineteen twenties Gatsby Prohibition style party.
- 7:15Speaker 3: And then we had the best best champagne bottle pop
- 7:19Speaker 3: of all time and finding out we were pregnant, so
- 7:21Speaker 3: that came to a screeching halt. And now it's just
- 7:23Speaker 3: a matter of trying to pick up those pieces and
- 7:26Speaker 3: when we want to reschedule it.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Okay, so you're going to have the whole gas wee party.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Potentially we might dial it down a little bit. You
- 7:36Speaker 3: might be in the same boat, but like once you
- 7:38Speaker 3: have your baby, some of your financial choices become a
- 7:41Speaker 3: little more stringent. It's like, all right, do I really
- 7:45Speaker 3: want to spend all this on this big celebration or
- 7:48Speaker 3: should we go fund Benny's college account? Or I feel
- 7:51Speaker 3: a lot more responsible now, is about it. I feel
- 7:53Speaker 3: a lot less like hiring aerialists and more so interested
- 7:57Speaker 3: in hiring babysitters.
- 7:59Speaker 2: You can cut out the aerial ists, okay, but the
- 8:01Speaker 2: Champagne Towers are good.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I need the Champagne Towers air lists. Yeah, on
- 8:06Speaker 3: the shopping block.
- 8:09Speaker 2: What was that like? Was that disappointing for you guys?
- 8:13Speaker 2: There was nothing I feel just going off your vibe.
- 8:15Speaker 2: There wasn't anything disappointing about you guys having to scale back.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Why was it important for you to get married though?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Right around the time he was born.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Well, something was important to us to begin with and
- 8:30Speaker 3: to bring our family as whole and to be able
- 8:33Speaker 3: to have any be part of that moment so early.
- 8:37Speaker 3: It was just one of those things where we knew
- 8:39Speaker 3: we wanted to do it. We didn't know we were
- 8:41Speaker 3: go to a courthouse on the day that we did it.
- 8:43Speaker 3: We got married on Friday the thirteenth, and it was
- 8:46Speaker 3: almost somewhat jokingly at first, she was like, hey, it's Friday, thirteenth.
- 8:52Speaker 3: This Friday. I was like, hey, hold the courthouse information,
- 8:56Speaker 3: see if they have any open open appointments and this
- 8:58Speaker 3: like on a Wednesday, See if there's any open appointments
- 9:01Speaker 3: on Friday, And then there was one and we looked
- 9:03Speaker 3: at each other like getting are getting married on Friday? Yeah,
- 9:08Speaker 3: And then we ended up going down getting the documents.
- 9:11Speaker 3: We had our server at one of our favorite hotel
- 9:14Speaker 3: bars sign as our witness, and we just knocked it out.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It was right way, that's so cute.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was. It was funny. You brought
- 9:22Speaker 3: us the menu. I'm like, hey, so we'll get the champagne,
- 9:25Speaker 3: and do you mind im signing as our witness to
- 9:28Speaker 3: be legally wet right now? He was just like, no
- 9:31Speaker 3: one's ever asked me that. Yeah, of course, let's do it.
- 9:34Speaker 2: So did he have to be there in the room
- 9:35Speaker 2: with you guys?
- 9:36Speaker 3: Well, apparently like we just did it. You pick up
- 9:40Speaker 3: the documents from the courthouse, like they don't actually marry
- 9:42Speaker 3: you there unless you sign up for that one, which
- 9:44Speaker 3: is what I didn't know. They're like, oh, yeah, I
- 9:46Speaker 3: hear your documents. Bring them back in like forty eight
- 9:48Speaker 3: hours and they're like, oh, that's wrong. I love this.
- 9:50Speaker 3: This is romantic, it's storybook writing.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Isn't that the weirdest thing? Like I get so confused
- 9:55Speaker 2: about the whole marriage thing, even though technically, like we're married.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Like so sometimes I kind of joke with Jared and
- 10:01Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm scared that we're not actually married this
- 10:05Speaker 2: right because we picked up the forums at the courthouse
- 10:08Speaker 2: and just like you what you were saying, then they
- 10:11Speaker 2: were like, have your officiants sign it, and then have
- 10:13Speaker 2: one other random person that was there witnessing it sign it,
- 10:16Speaker 2: and then you bring it back all sign and that's it.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, So we had his dad bring our
- 10:22Speaker 2: signed documents back the they get the day after our wedding.
- 10:27Speaker 3: So you had no did he send you a picture?
- 10:29Speaker 3: Like are you certain he brought them in the right place?
- 10:32Speaker 2: He said that he walked into the Newport, Rhode Island
- 10:35Speaker 2: courthouse where we got it, and he gave it to them.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And then in Rhode Island, they don't give you any proof.
- 10:42Speaker 2: They don't send you the marriage certificate unless you send
- 10:44Speaker 2: it for you send in a request for it. So
- 10:47Speaker 2: that's why I joke that we might not actually be
- 10:50Speaker 2: married because like Fred may have just messed up. But
- 10:55Speaker 2: then like you know, the taxes and stuff, like, at
- 10:57Speaker 2: some point it would come to our attention that we
- 11:00Speaker 2: were not wed.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Right, all I know is there is a greater than
- 11:03Speaker 3: zero percent chance that you and Jared are actually not married,
- 11:07Speaker 3: which opens the door for you and Ben Higgins. Just like.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It all makes sense circle moment.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Friend was behind us the whole time.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Let's talk about being a dad. You guys are funny.
- 11:30Speaker 2: On social media, Becca posted something a few weeks ago
- 11:34Speaker 2: where she's like crying because she's so sleep deprived, and
- 11:38Speaker 2: she's like, I just need you to go. You're the
- 11:39Speaker 2: best thing it's ever happened to me. But please leave
- 11:42Speaker 2: the room.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Talking to about please please.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Definitely like a viral viral yeah, real, yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 3: It's it's just real. Like it's just I'm sure anyone
- 11:53Speaker 3: who's that baby's going to attest to that. You're just
- 11:55Speaker 3: like I am exhausted, I haven't showered and god knows
- 11:59Speaker 3: how long you're babies take a lot there. They need
- 12:03Speaker 3: a lot of attention. She was at a breaking point
- 12:05Speaker 3: for a while there, and moms, Ashley, I'm going to
- 12:09Speaker 3: hand it to you. I know for a fact that
- 12:11Speaker 3: Jared and I would not be able to do what
- 12:12Speaker 3: you and Becca do as moms. And for all the
- 12:14Speaker 3: moms out there, thank you. We are not worthy, we
- 12:17Speaker 3: are not deserving, and you all are incredible.
- 12:20Speaker 2: It's just well, thank you, thank you. It is a lot,
- 12:24Speaker 2: I'll tell you that. For us, we've had more and
- 12:27Speaker 2: more fun as time goes on. Like two is so
- 12:33Speaker 2: fun Like their personality, Yeah, because a lot of people
- 12:36Speaker 2: are like savor and suck up every moment like they're
- 12:39Speaker 2: never going to be this small Like I totally agree,
- 12:41Speaker 2: I get it, but it's also just way cooler when
- 12:45Speaker 2: they're a little bit older.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Well, just what's your favorite thing that Dawson is now
- 12:49Speaker 3: that that's newer per se.
- 12:52Speaker 2: It's just like he loves to put on a show.
- 12:54Speaker 2: He's so entertaining and he just loves all eyeballs on him.
- 12:59Speaker 3: So you're saying, iss, Dawson could be an aerialist at
- 13:01Speaker 3: the wedding.
- 13:02Speaker 2: He could be. He'd be totally down, but he the
- 13:06Speaker 2: way he dances and sings, and he like basically won't
- 13:10Speaker 2: do it without holding a microphone up. He'll like take
- 13:13Speaker 2: like a makeup rush or anything that he can use
- 13:16Speaker 2: a doctor pepper bottle, he needs a microphone in his hand.
- 13:20Speaker 2: And then the way he dances like he uses his
- 13:22Speaker 2: lower body. He's got a groove that I'm honestly jealous of.
- 13:26Speaker 2: So it's my favorite. When he gets into entertainer mode,
- 13:30Speaker 2: he and he just knows he's funny and it's it's
- 13:33Speaker 2: just really, it's really great. I found the stage that
- 13:37Speaker 2: you're at about now to be the most challenging. That's yeah,
- 13:42Speaker 2: because they like are pretty awake to the world. You know,
- 13:46Speaker 2: they're cognizant, they're not napping as much, and they're at
- 13:50Speaker 2: least with Dawson, he got really finickyer on that age
- 13:53Speaker 2: because it was like, I can't really sit up very well.
- 13:58Speaker 2: But I'm also just like, I don't know what to do,
- 14:00Speaker 2: but I'm bored because what am I supposed to do?
- 14:02Speaker 2: Hanging in the swing all day?
- 14:04Speaker 3: He had that entertainer's energy just boiling through his body
- 14:08Speaker 3: and knowing to express it. So that makes sense, that
- 14:10Speaker 3: makes sense. He's he's incredible. I mean, I would say
- 14:15Speaker 3: that this is by far my favorite phase that we've
- 14:18Speaker 3: had so far.
- 14:19Speaker 2: I'm telling you, every month you'll get more, it'll get
- 14:21Speaker 2: more interesting, more fun.
- 14:23Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 14:24Speaker 2: But he wasn't like a major fuss phase.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Ah yeah, Betty, he's a good baby. He doesn't fuss much.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Oh he's not a fusser.
- 14:31Speaker 3: He's not a big fuss. He sits there and he
- 14:34Speaker 3: just he just wants to absorb more cosmic energy that
- 14:36Speaker 3: goes straight to his cheeks. That just keep growing and
- 14:39Speaker 3: growing and growing, and he's just he's just a fun baby.
- 14:42Speaker 3: It is at a point now, like he's at that
- 14:45Speaker 3: time where you walk into the room and he's able
- 14:47Speaker 3: to identify you and I'll start laughing and I'll.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Start yeah, that's always fun.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Because it's it's the greatest, it's the greatest. And he's
- 14:55Speaker 3: sleeping through the night again. So it's just it's to
- 14:57Speaker 3: the point where Beck even said she's like, well, maybe
- 14:59Speaker 3: I can't have another baby a little bit sooner. So
- 15:01Speaker 3: I've been cloud nine since since she dropped that bob
- 15:04Speaker 3: on me anytime soon. But she's more open to the
- 15:08Speaker 3: idea of having number two.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Sooner than Oh my, you guys are ahead of the
- 15:13Speaker 2: game because most people say that happens around two Like
- 15:16Speaker 2: Jared and I are now being delulu as they say
- 15:20Speaker 2: and are thinking like, okay, like we could think now
- 15:23Speaker 2: I get I'm being able to handle it because Dawson
- 15:25Speaker 2: is getting out of his fussies, Like he's always been
- 15:28Speaker 2: fussy and now he'll go this big stretches without crying
- 15:33Speaker 2: or getting fussy. It's really nice. But so you you're
- 15:38Speaker 2: like ready to go again, Well I.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Am, And I know that doesn't really that doesn't say
- 15:44Speaker 3: that doesn't that doesn't carry much way. But with the
- 15:48Speaker 3: way Benny's been and if he continues on this one,
- 15:52Speaker 3: I mean. We're also trying to plan our wedding again still,
- 15:54Speaker 3: and one of the big things for us is we
- 15:56Speaker 3: don't want to be pregnant for our wedding. So I'm
- 15:58Speaker 3: trying to where you got a couple of moving targets
- 16:01Speaker 3: and trying to figure out what that timeline looks like
- 16:04Speaker 3: in one relist who we can. But the big determining
- 16:07Speaker 3: factor for us is as much as we love tiny
- 16:10Speaker 3: human chic all over the house, once we put it away,
- 16:12Speaker 3: we don't want to bring it back out. So if
- 16:14Speaker 3: we're able just to keep it out for a short
- 16:16Speaker 3: amount of time and be like okay, here we go.
- 16:18Speaker 3: You guys have siblings, You guys have a best friend.
- 16:21Speaker 3: You guys have something who could relate to Daddy, could
- 16:23Speaker 3: still get baby cuddles again because I'm obsessed with them
- 16:25Speaker 3: I needed in my veins. Then it's like a it's
- 16:28Speaker 3: like a win win, assuming that number two is not
- 16:30Speaker 3: gonna be fussy and Benny doesn't wake up tomorrow and
- 16:33Speaker 3: she's violence.
- 16:33Speaker 2: But this is that's that's my stance Toeah, I'm not
- 16:38Speaker 2: the kind of person that's going to space it out
- 16:40Speaker 2: a number of yours if you know able. So, yes,
- 16:43Speaker 2: we were lucky that we were able to not space
- 16:46Speaker 2: and done. No, this is two and done.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Three.
- 16:50Speaker 3: It all depends we have a boy or girl next.
- 16:52Speaker 3: If we have a next like, I could be good.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I just I need an old baby girl so badly.
- 16:57Speaker 3: If we have another boy, we'll probably go for three.
- 16:59Speaker 2: So definitely wanted a girl this time, so did I.
- 17:03Speaker 2: But it was kind of funny how it switched because
- 17:05Speaker 2: the first time I was like freaking out if it
- 17:07Speaker 2: wasn't going to be a girl, and it wasn't, And
- 17:10Speaker 2: then after having Dawson, it was like not as big
- 17:12Speaker 2: of a deal not to have a girl.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Mom. Yeah, I watched your gender reveal again today and
- 17:16Speaker 3: it was just like how I was like, oh, I'm
- 17:19Speaker 3: about to sh my pants. Oh I think it's a
- 17:21Speaker 3: boy this time just off of today alone. Oh my god.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Yes, it was weird.
- 17:26Speaker 3: It's a boy. I was like this, this was this
- 17:28Speaker 3: was Dawson doesn't want to bite the cupcake Ashley's Ashley
- 17:30Speaker 3: is in the corner, squatting somewhere chairs it's like, I
- 17:33Speaker 3: don't want to look. I was like, this is this
- 17:35Speaker 3: is phenomenal, this is this is what we needed.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Before we got pregnant. I only like saying we got
- 17:43Speaker 2: pregnant because I got pregnant, because I got to go
- 17:46Speaker 2: through it.
- 17:46Speaker 3: But you carried all away in that group project. Yeah.
- 17:50Speaker 2: So before I got pregnant, I thought it was definitely
- 17:52Speaker 2: going to be a boy. I was just like, I
- 17:54Speaker 2: am already referring to our future child as him. And
- 17:57Speaker 2: then when I gott and it was a different type
- 18:02Speaker 2: of pregnancy, it just wasn't as bad. I was like, Okay,
- 18:06Speaker 2: well it's good, it's probably gonna be a girl, which
- 18:08Speaker 2: is like hormonal differences or whatnot. And then the day
- 18:11Speaker 2: of when my like when the nurse texted me like
- 18:13Speaker 2: we have the results, I was like, it's a boy,
- 18:17Speaker 2: you just knew. Yeah, all right, anyway, enough about me.
- 18:21Speaker 2: You guys have decided not to post Benny's face on
- 18:26Speaker 2: social media. What went into that decision? When was it made?
- 18:32Speaker 3: We made it early on in our pregnancy. It's just
- 18:35Speaker 3: so the world's a crazy place. You get a lot
- 18:38Speaker 3: of eyes on the content you're posting, and for us,
- 18:42Speaker 3: as first time parents, are just trying to figure out
- 18:44Speaker 3: the best way to protect our son, especially in an
- 18:47Speaker 3: Internet that's growing and changing on seemingly a daily basis.
- 18:52Speaker 3: We just decided, all he didn't consent to having this
- 18:56Speaker 3: massive digital footprint on him, and we want to wait
- 19:01Speaker 3: until he's a little bit older and more of an
- 19:04Speaker 3: understanding of what this world looks like. As crazy as
- 19:07Speaker 3: it sounds, I read these articles and Becky reads these
- 19:10Speaker 3: articles about the enhancement of AI. How they could take
- 19:13Speaker 3: these photos, and they could take sound bites, and they
- 19:15Speaker 3: could manipulate that into god knows whatever they want. And
- 19:20Speaker 3: for us, it was just the chance of something bad
- 19:22Speaker 3: happening is relatively very very low, but it's still greater
- 19:27Speaker 3: than zero. So for us, the best way to have
- 19:29Speaker 3: the peace of mind of knowing that we don't have
- 19:32Speaker 3: to deal with anything like that is just keeping them
- 19:34Speaker 3: private and keeping them keeping them close to us. So
- 19:37Speaker 3: there was a lot of back and forth on it.
- 19:40Speaker 3: BECO is very strong about it, and I support it entirely,
- 19:44Speaker 3: but at the same time, there are times where it's
- 19:46Speaker 3: hard because he is the greatest thing I'll ever do
- 19:49Speaker 3: in my entire life, and I have more joy and
- 19:51Speaker 3: pride in him than I have in anything that that
- 19:54Speaker 3: I've done, and I do want to be able to
- 19:55Speaker 3: share them with the world, But sadly we're in a
- 19:58Speaker 3: physician where I mean, you got that's your weird DM
- 20:01Speaker 3: that you read earlier today, and that's just the tip
- 20:03Speaker 3: of the iceberg of what some of these things are
- 20:06Speaker 3: being said to people on a daily basis, And it's
- 20:09Speaker 3: just I don't want to go to jail, so I
- 20:12Speaker 3: don't want to get any crazy dms that involved my son,
- 20:15Speaker 3: and then I had to go straight Liam Neeson and
- 20:17Speaker 3: disappear some people. So it's just it was just easier
- 20:20Speaker 3: just to keep them off the Internet and you still
- 20:22Speaker 3: get your naysage, to still get people telling them you know, X,
- 20:24Speaker 3: Y and Z. But for us, it was just it
- 20:27Speaker 3: was that risk reward, all right, do we want to
- 20:29Speaker 3: post them and have the shared experience with the world,
- 20:32Speaker 3: or do we just want to sort of keep them
- 20:35Speaker 3: to ourselves regardless what other people are going to say.
- 20:38Speaker 2: So, how do you feel about me who has their
- 20:40Speaker 2: kid all over my social media and so many of
- 20:42Speaker 2: your other fellow bachelor alump, I have no.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Problem with that at all. I mean, every parent's going
- 20:48Speaker 3: to make their own decisions. And like I said, I
- 20:50Speaker 3: I initially Beco's the one who first voiced that concern
- 20:54Speaker 3: in the opinion, like that was never something that crossed
- 20:56Speaker 3: my mind a single time until she brought it up.
- 20:59Speaker 3: But as a support of husband and a supporting father, like,
- 21:02Speaker 3: that's something that I wanted to hear her out and
- 21:04Speaker 3: really understand what that route was. And once once we
- 21:08Speaker 3: did that, it was like, yeah, okay, because I'm It's
- 21:12Speaker 3: one of those things, is what it is. Like, I
- 21:15Speaker 3: have no problem. I love seeing pictures of everyone else's
- 21:17Speaker 3: kids and like my close friends, it's nothing but my son,
- 21:20Speaker 3: because I do want to share with the people who
- 21:22Speaker 3: are close to us. But it was just a decision
- 21:24Speaker 3: we made to keep it, keep it within the family.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Per se.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's totally respectable. I completely understand now that we're
- 21:42Speaker 2: on we're on serious topics. I got to ask about
- 21:46Speaker 2: how the departure from Happy Hour one. Was that almost
- 21:49Speaker 2: a year ago?
- 21:50Speaker 3: Rebecca, Yeah, it's been a while, and not to get
- 21:55Speaker 3: too deep in since it's not entirely my my business
- 21:58Speaker 3: on it. The way that it was handled, well, there
- 22:02Speaker 3: was a lot of things up in the air. There
- 22:03Speaker 3: was a lot of changes going on with the franchise
- 22:05Speaker 3: as a whole, a lot of turnover and leadership, and
- 22:09Speaker 3: in that timeline while they were figuring everything out, BECO
- 22:13Speaker 3: was sort of just pulled to hold the front. Just
- 22:17Speaker 3: status quose stay that amount of time just kept stretching
- 22:21Speaker 3: of and we're not sure what's going on. Just keep
- 22:23Speaker 3: doing what you're doing. Everything's fine, we'll let you know
- 22:25Speaker 3: what we do. Three four months go on, and they
- 22:29Speaker 3: just keep dangling on, dangling on, and then it finally
- 22:32Speaker 3: went to we're shutting down the podcast. New team came in,
- 22:37Speaker 3: we're shutting down the podcast. Like I'm sorry, this is
- 22:41Speaker 3: what it is, and that's understandable. Like change happens. The
- 22:43Speaker 3: franchisees asked many of podcasts in the past, there'll be
- 22:47Speaker 3: more in the future. It's like, okay, I can understand.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Thank you for the time. Can I reach out and
- 22:53Speaker 3: address all of our followers, all the people who have
- 22:57Speaker 3: been a part of this over the years, I can
- 22:59Speaker 3: I say something? And I was like, no, well, let's
- 23:02Speaker 3: just not say anything. So my frustrations were, you have
- 23:06Speaker 3: someone who puts so much energy, so much time, so
- 23:09Speaker 3: much commitment into essentially being the focal point of a
- 23:15Speaker 3: talking piece for the franchise when they went through one
- 23:18Speaker 3: of their hardest scandals and hardest stretches of times for
- 23:21Speaker 3: about three years, where she poured it into like through
- 23:25Speaker 3: some tough like through some of the worst things that
- 23:28Speaker 3: have happened in this franchise, and then too then string
- 23:33Speaker 3: her along and then pull the rug under that, Oh
- 23:36Speaker 3: they're not canceling the podcast, they're bringing in new people,
- 23:40Speaker 3: and they weren't even the ones to tell you that
- 23:41Speaker 3: they were doing that. Like that's just where I was like,
- 23:44Speaker 3: that's just wrong. You don't you don't do that to
- 23:46Speaker 3: someone who has carried the torch for you, thick and
- 23:50Speaker 3: thin for this long. And that's that's not even j
- 23:52Speaker 3: just Rebecca. That's like if I was married to someone
- 23:56Speaker 3: who did something else their career and their company treated
- 23:58Speaker 3: them like that, I'd be like that is that's it's
- 24:00Speaker 3: just not right.
- 24:02Speaker 2: How How how did she find out that it was
- 24:06Speaker 2: going to continue with Serena and Joe.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Joe texted her, Yeah, Joe reached out. That's one of
- 24:13Speaker 3: the things, like, I love Joan Serena so much. I'm
- 24:15Speaker 3: not going to respect for Joe and Serena. Before before
- 24:19Speaker 3: they they even took that position, Joe wanted to talk
- 24:23Speaker 3: to Becca and be like, Hey, this is what's going on.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I respect you, I respect our relationship. Let me know
- 24:30Speaker 3: how you want me to proceed. And it was something like,
- 24:32Speaker 3: of course, Becaus. She's grace, she's gracious to Joe, she's
- 24:36Speaker 3: gracious to the podcast, she's gracious to the franchise. I mean,
- 24:40Speaker 3: we wouldn't be sitting here with our son without the franchise.
- 24:43Speaker 3: So when Shoe had an opportunity to no brainer, Joe,
- 24:45Speaker 3: you need to take that. Serena, you need to take that.
- 24:48Speaker 3: We wish you the best luck, dominate, do amazing things.
- 24:51Speaker 3: But it's just it's from the from the decision making
- 24:56Speaker 3: people in that in that process to not be the
- 24:59Speaker 3: one to come straightforth and talk to back about it,
- 25:02Speaker 3: or give her a chance to say goodbye or apologize
- 25:06Speaker 3: for stringing on through those times and just like not
- 25:09Speaker 3: not looking her in the face while and you're going
- 25:11Speaker 3: to do something like business decisions happen. That is what
- 25:14Speaker 3: it is. That's the way that you handle yourselves in
- 25:17Speaker 3: those decisions where I had a problem.
- 25:20Speaker 2: How do you balance those feelings now? Like she was
- 25:23Speaker 2: so involved with the franchise. She did three shows. All
- 25:27Speaker 2: three of her appearances were like big you know, she
- 25:30Speaker 2: wasn't ever forgettable. And then she went on tour with
- 25:35Speaker 2: Happy Hour, she went on tour with The Bachelor Live,
- 25:38Speaker 2: and then she was the Happy Our co host for
- 25:41Speaker 2: quite some time. And you guys are a bachelor couple.
- 25:47Speaker 2: You wouldn't have been here, you wouldn't be married, you
- 25:49Speaker 2: wouldn't have your kid if it weren't for the show,
- 25:50Speaker 2: So you have to be It must be like a
- 25:53Speaker 2: lot of confusing feelings, being like, well, we have to
- 25:56Speaker 2: be forever grateful for this show, but also we feel
- 25:58Speaker 2: kind of screwed by it.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I would say screwed and again reiterating I will always
- 26:05Speaker 3: be grateful and I'll always have such a huge part
- 26:08Speaker 3: of my heart dedicated to the opportunity that franchise gave us,
- 26:12Speaker 3: because like you said I would not have my son,
- 26:14Speaker 3: I would add my wife. I would not have the
- 26:17Speaker 3: greatest joy in my life if it weren't for the franchise.
- 26:20Speaker 3: And I am so grateful for that, and I will
- 26:22Speaker 3: never talk down on it because they've given me the
- 26:25Speaker 3: greatest gift possible. It's just in that occurrence, it's just
- 26:29Speaker 3: things could have been handled different. Like I have no
- 26:31Speaker 3: bad blood towards anyone over there, it's just I just
- 26:36Speaker 3: personally not speak for Becca anyway. I don't want to
- 26:38Speaker 3: be involved or really associated or pushing myself out there
- 26:43Speaker 3: for them until the simple amends are made. And that
- 26:49Speaker 3: could even be as simple as as someone reaching out
- 26:51Speaker 3: and apologized. So if I feel and if Beca receives
- 26:56Speaker 3: like some sort of actual like we fut up, I'm sorry,
- 27:03Speaker 3: that's that's it. I'm good with that. People make mistakes,
- 27:06Speaker 3: that nothing's perfect, but it's just that hasn't happened yet,
- 27:11Speaker 3: and that's that's a very minimal thing to ask for,
- 27:14Speaker 3: in my opinion. It's just it's one of those things.
- 27:17Speaker 3: It is what it is, and how do we move on?
- 27:19Speaker 3: You have you have a new purpose in your life.
- 27:21Speaker 3: You become a mother, you become a father and all
- 27:24Speaker 3: those little things they don't matter. So it's just where
- 27:28Speaker 3: we're just living our life.
- 27:30Speaker 2: One part where it felt like what the heck happened
- 27:35Speaker 2: was at the end of Paradise this season, they had
- 27:38Speaker 2: a recap of all the people who have ended up
- 27:41Speaker 2: together from Paradise and then you and Becca, having just
- 27:46Speaker 2: that fall and gotten married and have had a baby.
- 27:50Speaker 2: You weren't present in this recap, and it was just sad.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Where why was that.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Simple? They have to get permission to include any images
- 28:04Speaker 3: that they'd know longer on the name, image, and likeness
- 28:07Speaker 3: of and for us that point, going off of what
- 28:10Speaker 3: I just explained, we're just like, thank you, but no
- 28:13Speaker 3: thank you.
- 28:14Speaker 2: So okay, So that was your decision?
- 28:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that was our decision. They did reach out asking
- 28:19Speaker 3: asking if they could use our name, image and likeness
- 28:21Speaker 3: and if we would submit a photo, and it was
- 28:23Speaker 3: just saying I appreciate that, thank you, but no thank you.
- 28:27Speaker 2: That makes us feel better, That makes me feel better
- 28:29Speaker 2: that it was your decision and it wasn't just like
- 28:31Speaker 2: they decided to leave you out of it because of
- 28:34Speaker 2: awkwardness or whatever was going on.
- 28:36Speaker 3: I don't see them as a massive deceitful, evil, wrongdoing,
- 28:42Speaker 3: villainous organization. I think they went through a lot of
- 28:44Speaker 3: change and certain things got lost in the wash, and
- 28:49Speaker 3: unfortunately my wife was one of them. And I, like
- 28:52Speaker 3: my rational mind can look at and be like, I
- 28:55Speaker 3: see how this could have happened and how this could
- 28:57Speaker 3: have could have played out the way that it did.
- 29:00Speaker 3: But I also see whoever's in charge, And I feel
- 29:03Speaker 3: like that's an easier conversation because you weren't the ones
- 29:05Speaker 3: who were doing X, Y and Z. It's like, hey,
- 29:08Speaker 3: I understand this is what happened. We've got on sock
- 29:11Speaker 3: and it's just like, okay, I guess it was like
- 29:14Speaker 3: I could respect that.
- 29:18Speaker 2: All right. Well, switching gears, what is a day in
- 29:22Speaker 2: your life? Look like? The two the three of you,
- 29:25Speaker 2: three of us, like right now, the balance, the parental
- 29:29Speaker 2: you know, shifting all that, it's.
- 29:32Speaker 3: It's it's every day is a little bit different, which
- 29:34Speaker 3: is that comes in parenthood and it's Benny wakes up
- 29:39Speaker 3: anywhere from well with new daylight saving times, we're adjusting
- 29:43Speaker 3: to that that kind of that kind of is not fun.
- 29:45Speaker 3: But he wakes up around six. We'll take turns on
- 29:48Speaker 3: who takes the morning shifts. Whenever it's my days. We
- 29:51Speaker 3: wake up, we go on a walk, we look at
- 29:54Speaker 3: whatever recipes back I sent over on Pinterest over the
- 29:57Speaker 3: last couple of days, and go to the grocery store
- 29:59Speaker 3: and we'll we'll make mom a big meal during the
- 30:02Speaker 3: day so when she wakes up she'll have something, something
- 30:05Speaker 3: exciting to eat and look forward to. And then he
- 30:08Speaker 3: goes down for it's Oh, it's led to some great
- 30:11Speaker 3: recipes too. So whenever Becka sends stuff over on Pinch
- 30:14Speaker 3: or something, go okay. I love to cook, so it's
- 30:16Speaker 3: just it's perfect. And then when we get back of down,
- 30:20Speaker 3: we have we have. We've been fortunate enough to have
- 30:24Speaker 3: assistance of a nanny who comes and helps during the
- 30:26Speaker 3: days during the week, so we're able to continue to work.
- 30:29Speaker 3: I still have my real estate brokerage, I still have
- 30:31Speaker 3: my development projects. I still have all my entrepreneurial projects
- 30:35Speaker 3: that are going on at any given point. Becca Saw
- 30:37Speaker 3: is a full plate. So to have that extra set
- 30:40Speaker 3: of hands to help with Benny and to help keep
- 30:43Speaker 3: him well rounded and safe and secured and feel loved
- 30:46Speaker 3: while mom and Dad are able to work and check
- 30:49Speaker 3: in and play with them and then go back to
- 30:51Speaker 3: what they're doing. It's been it's been incredible. And then
- 30:54Speaker 3: we're at that point too where we're not longing doing
- 30:56Speaker 3: dream feed. So when he goes down around seven seven thirty,
- 30:59Speaker 3: he's until the next morning, and then you sort of
- 31:01Speaker 3: get your relationship back, because I mean, when the baby
- 31:05Speaker 3: can sleep, mom and dad could have mom and dad time,
- 31:07Speaker 3: which means binging love is blind and playing games and
- 31:11Speaker 3: just catching up over some wine and just loving on
- 31:13Speaker 3: each other. So it's been every day. It's the days
- 31:17Speaker 3: are the days are long, but the weeks are short,
- 31:19Speaker 3: and the fact that he's almost six months now is
- 31:22Speaker 3: just somewhat mind blowing.
- 31:24Speaker 2: So it really is. And that's coming from me who's
- 31:28Speaker 2: not part of your life but does following you on
- 31:30Speaker 2: social media and like, what six months.
- 31:34Speaker 3: I don't know how else to say this, but I
- 31:37Speaker 3: feel like I have Ashley level emotions like coursing through
- 31:41Speaker 3: my body when he's sleeping on my chest and I'm
- 31:44Speaker 3: looking down at pictures when he was a baby sleeping
- 31:47Speaker 3: on my chest, I have flashbacks to like insert me mere,
- 31:52Speaker 3: It's just like it's wild. It happens, it happens too fast,
- 31:56Speaker 3: it happens way too fast.
- 32:00Speaker 2: It does well. All right, Thomas, this was so fun.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Thank you so much for filling us in on like
- 32:05Speaker 2: what's been going on with you. You guys are great. We
- 32:08Speaker 2: love watching you and it's been just like a joy
- 32:11Speaker 2: to watch both of you fall in love and expand
- 32:14Speaker 2: your family.
- 32:16Speaker 3: I appreciate that, and likewise, you guys, we can't wait
- 32:18Speaker 3: to see number two join you guys. Dowson any great
- 32:21Speaker 3: big brother, and especially if he's entering the way that
- 32:24Speaker 3: he is.
- 32:26Speaker 2: He's so cute. We were on an airplane two days
- 32:28Speaker 2: ago and he decided that he would show the baby
- 32:31Speaker 2: to the people around him. He literally lifted up my
- 32:35Speaker 2: shirt and it was like baby, a baby in there,
- 32:38Speaker 2: and he kisses the baby and he gives the baby
- 32:41Speaker 2: hugs and it's just too cute. Transfer that energy and
- 32:45Speaker 2: love over to like when he's here in the real
- 32:47Speaker 2: world and maybe getting a little bit more of your attention.
- 32:51Speaker 2: It'll be good, the attention that you usually get.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Oh yeah, gosh, yeah, then you're gonna have When when
