- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Just Here with Doctor J, a production of
- 0:02Speaker 1: the Black Effect Podcast Network in iHeartRadio. What's up, everybody?
- 0:07Speaker 1: This is Doctor J. Barnett and this is Just Here
- 0:10Speaker 1: with Doctor J. Listen. I'm gonna be doing something different today.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I don't have a guest. This is my final episode
- 0:18Speaker 1: of season one. The guests. It's me. I'm gonna be talking.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I don't think I'm gonna ramble, but I do think
- 0:28Speaker 1: that I will sort of provide just an overview of
- 0:32Speaker 1: what this past season was. I'll share in depth on
- 0:37Speaker 1: some of my favorite episodes. I'll talk about what the
- 0:41Speaker 1: episodes meant to me. I'll also talk about my life
- 0:45Speaker 1: from last year. My first episode dropped April twenty second,
- 0:50Speaker 1: which is my birthday. Right, So last year I made
- 0:53Speaker 1: forty three on my birthday, drop Just Here with Doctor J.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It's not knowing where it was going joining the podcast
- 1:00Speaker 1: as in the world, don't have a clue, didn't want
- 1:02Speaker 1: to do it, but felt led to do it, And
- 1:04Speaker 1: so here I am a year later, forty four, a
- 1:08Speaker 1: little more gray, hair less worries, a lot leaner. I
- 1:15Speaker 1: feel really great right now. I love where I'm at.
- 1:18Speaker 1: This podcast journey has been a very good journey for
- 1:23Speaker 1: me to be on. It's challenged my consistency. Not that
- 1:29Speaker 1: I have an issue with being consistent, It's really challenged
- 1:33Speaker 1: me to continue to be consistent in the type of
- 1:36Speaker 1: guests that I bring before you, guys, the vetting process,
- 1:40Speaker 1: knowing that I can't tell everybody's story, but also picking
- 1:44Speaker 1: and choosing the stories that I want to tell the
- 1:46Speaker 1: people that I want to interview. But then also what
- 1:49Speaker 1: I learned about this process is just listening to my
- 1:53Speaker 1: spirit right being able to feel when I needed to
- 1:57Speaker 1: have a certain guest on I needed to talk about
- 2:01Speaker 1: a particular topic or subject. I didn't do any episodes
- 2:07Speaker 1: around current issues. I don't feel called to that. There
- 2:10Speaker 1: are a lot of mental health professionals who do content
- 2:14Speaker 1: around things that are going on around the world. My
- 2:17Speaker 1: focus is to bring conversations to you that are going
- 2:21Speaker 1: to impact you from the space of where you might
- 2:26Speaker 1: be on your journey. You haven't started your journey, you're
- 2:30Speaker 1: deciding to go to therapy, You've had an experience with divorce,
- 2:35Speaker 1: you had an experience with loss, losing a loved one,
- 2:39Speaker 1: a child, your job, talking about relationships, you know, talking
- 2:46Speaker 1: about sports and navigating the different terrains and life adjusting apples.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So it was so many different conversations and as I'm
- 2:58Speaker 1: thinking about I'm just like, for one, I can't believe
- 3:01Speaker 1: it's been a year. I wish I would have broken
- 3:04Speaker 1: up into several seasons where we do ten episodes season
- 3:08Speaker 1: one and so probably I'll be on season ten right now.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Because of the fifty two episodes. I don't think I'll
- 3:14Speaker 1: do fifty two episode again because it was really it
- 3:18Speaker 1: was work because I did a lot of episodes on
- 3:22Speaker 1: the road, We traveled to location. We had a very
- 3:26Speaker 1: good team, not a big production, but here's what we
- 3:31Speaker 1: did do. We were nominated for three podcasts awards BCI
- 3:38Speaker 1: Black Christian Influencer Award Podcasts of the Year, also the
- 3:43Speaker 1: iHeart Podcast Award. We were nominated in the self help
- 3:48Speaker 1: and Motivation and category and then last but not least,
- 3:52Speaker 1: the Ultimate and NAACP Image Award for Podcasts of the
- 3:59Speaker 1: Year Inspiration. Now, I didn't win any of those categories,
- 4:04Speaker 1: but in two of those categories I was included with
- 4:07Speaker 1: Michelle Obama, which was an honor to be, you know,
- 4:12Speaker 1: in the same category as the first and only Black
- 4:16Speaker 1: First Lady and to be recognized with other individuals you
- 4:22Speaker 1: know that had great podcasts. It was just humbling because
- 4:26Speaker 1: it's my first year at the Gate. And what I
- 4:28Speaker 1: realized is that people weren't just looking for another podcast.
- 4:35Speaker 1: They was looking for debt, they were looking for insight,
- 4:40Speaker 1: they were looking for substance, they were looking for real stories.
- 4:46Speaker 1: But then they were also looking for spaces where not
- 4:49Speaker 1: only that they not only did they see that the
- 4:52Speaker 1: guests felt safe, they themselves felt safe as they were
- 4:57Speaker 1: watching the number of testimony, the comments. I took a part.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I took a YouTube page that only had a thousand followers.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I think we're close to thirty thousand sub which is
- 5:10Speaker 1: okay with me. Like I'm about being effective, Like it's
- 5:14Speaker 1: not in the fifty thousand, it's not in one hundred
- 5:16Speaker 1: thousand yet, but it's about the effectiveness. It showed my
- 5:21Speaker 1: range of being able to go from the stage and
- 5:25Speaker 1: go to the podcast space, being able to go from
- 5:28Speaker 1: the classroom to teaching, but also to be able to
- 5:31Speaker 1: create a therapeutic experience for people in real time. It
- 5:36Speaker 1: wasn't therapy, but it felt like therapy for not only
- 5:40Speaker 1: my guests but those who were watching at the time.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And that blessed me, that encouraged me, and I'm truly
- 5:47Speaker 1: grateful for iHeart. I'm grateful for Charlemagne to God and
- 5:51Speaker 1: the Black Effect for believing in me. I have another year,
- 5:56Speaker 1: you know, with the network, so I'm excited about season
- 5:59Speaker 1: two and what we're going to bring this fall. The guests,
- 6:03Speaker 1: the conversation, the production, you know, the whole nine. I mean,
- 6:07Speaker 1: it's just it's been a great journey and I've grown
- 6:11Speaker 1: a lot as a creator. I've grown a lot as
- 6:17Speaker 1: a speaker. I've grown a lot even in my own
- 6:20Speaker 1: healing journey, because every conversation that I had allowed me
- 6:24Speaker 1: to see deeper into the lives of others and to
- 6:26Speaker 1: hear their stories, but also to feel their pain and
- 6:31Speaker 1: to sit with them in their moment, in their space,
- 6:35Speaker 1: and to know that healing means so many different things
- 6:40Speaker 1: for people. You know, the question that you hear is
- 6:43Speaker 1: what does healing mean for you? When I'm talking to
- 6:47Speaker 1: the guests, What healing means for me today is a
- 6:53Speaker 1: constant process of becoming. It's a constant process of becoming,
- 7:00Speaker 1: because that's what this journey has allowed me to do,
- 7:01Speaker 1: to continue to become, to continue to grow, because I've
- 7:04Speaker 1: learned to laugh more. I've learned to be open more.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I've learned to be vulnerable, I've learned to love. I mean,
- 7:11Speaker 1: this podcast opened me up in ways that I didn't
- 7:13Speaker 1: realize that I would be open, and so I'm excited
- 7:18Speaker 1: to just kind of talk about this and have some
- 7:20Speaker 1: of the conversations around some of my favorite episodes. And
- 7:27Speaker 1: the first part of the filming process, we did like
- 7:31Speaker 1: a four interviews in One Day Later's Whitfield from Dear
- 7:37Speaker 1: Future Wife. He my good friend Lawrence Ajib, Mike Leado,
- 7:42Speaker 1: talked about athlete's money, his journey, and then we decided
- 7:47Speaker 1: to do a sit down where I'm just talking to
- 7:50Speaker 1: the camera and this was probably the first time that
- 7:52Speaker 1: I've been that open about some parts or certain parts
- 7:57Speaker 1: of my story. He grabbed me by my neck and
- 8:02Speaker 1: choked me until I passed out in front of my sister,
- 8:06Speaker 1: and my sister that scared her because they didn't know
- 8:10Speaker 1: if I was dead or alive, because as they called it,
- 8:13Speaker 1: putting you to sleep. And I wake up and I'm
- 8:16Speaker 1: looking up at him and not knowing what happened. I
- 8:18Speaker 1: just remember him choking me, and I'm blacking out, and
- 8:22Speaker 1: I begin to talk about my aunt Bessie, who became
- 8:26Speaker 1: very popular on the Internet, and the things that people
- 8:30Speaker 1: said about Bessie Bear was just like you know, it was.
- 8:36Speaker 1: It was quite interesting because I didn't realize how many
- 8:41Speaker 1: people would relate to my story about colorism. And Bessie
- 8:46Speaker 1: did in like dark skinned kids. And my parents sent
- 8:53Speaker 1: me to the family reunion. They didn't go. They they
- 8:57Speaker 1: sent me with my aunt and uncle. Nobody defended from me,
- 9:03Speaker 1: and Bessie had a field day with my little black behind.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I was, as you to see, chocolate brother. So it
- 9:11Speaker 1: was a chocolate kid and growing up in Mississippi to
- 9:16Speaker 1: a fair skinned lady who hated dark skinned children. And
- 9:22Speaker 1: this stays with me because oftentimes people are like, oh
- 9:26Speaker 1: my god, you're so handsome, so beautiful, and you're hearing
- 9:29Speaker 1: it from me. I don't see what people see. I'm
- 9:33Speaker 1: just being honest. I just don't. And here's why. And
- 9:36Speaker 1: I shared this story with my godmother because I had
- 9:40Speaker 1: one encounter after another that will cause mental and emotional
- 9:46Speaker 1: pain that would scar you. Right, I'm a dark skinned man, right,
- 9:49Speaker 1: go figure? Right? Or should I say you know it's
- 9:53Speaker 1: the obvious, right, Being surrounded by a fair skinned aunt
- 10:00Speaker 1: who doesn't like dark skinned children. And in the story,
- 10:05Speaker 1: I opened up how I was at a family reunion
- 10:07Speaker 1: and I couldn't come in the house because I was
- 10:10Speaker 1: too dark. Bessie made me sit outside and eat with
- 10:13Speaker 1: a dog and you know, eat the pizza. And it
- 10:17Speaker 1: was one of those things. Man. Where As I was
- 10:19Speaker 1: talking about it in the episode and sharing, I didn't
- 10:23Speaker 1: know how that part of my life had really impacted
- 10:30Speaker 1: me until I went back and watched it. Cause sometimes
- 10:33Speaker 1: when you're talking and and you're in your story, like
- 10:36Speaker 1: you you don't you don't know what it's going to do.
- 10:38Speaker 1: You don't know how people are going to receive it.
- 10:41Speaker 1: You don't know how the producer is going to chop
- 10:45Speaker 1: it up. And the way the CJ edited, you know,
- 10:49Speaker 1: the way that he really hone in on me talking
- 10:53Speaker 1: about the pain and talking about what I had endured.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Cause I cause a lot of times I don't remember
- 11:00Speaker 1: or you know, when I'm in a moment sharing and man,
- 11:04Speaker 1: we put that thing out there and it just took off.
- 11:10Speaker 1: And the amount of people who DM me about their
- 11:13Speaker 1: own stories of colorism, men and women that was sharing
- 11:18Speaker 1: how they weren't you know, they were treated differently because
- 11:22Speaker 1: they were fair skinned, or they were treated differently because
- 11:24Speaker 1: their skin was darker, they were treated differently from friends,
- 11:28Speaker 1: from family members. It's just so on and so forth. Man,
- 11:31Speaker 1: I had no idea, and I think we went viral
- 11:36Speaker 1: on several platforms. I think we made it to World Star,
- 11:41Speaker 1: Like well, I would have never thought that that made
- 11:44Speaker 1: it to World Star. But what I realized is that
- 11:48Speaker 1: so many of us share similar pains, and we share
- 11:52Speaker 1: similar experiences, and we share similar groanings. That often rests
- 12:04Speaker 1: in the corner of our minds because who do we
- 12:07Speaker 1: share those things with? Who do you talk about them with?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Or two? And that day I decided to talk to
- 12:14Speaker 1: you the world, the audience, because people will see me
- 12:20Speaker 1: and like, oh my, you know you're a handsome guy.
- 12:23Speaker 1: You know you got nice teeth, you got a head
- 12:25Speaker 1: full of hair in your forties, which is rare, and
- 12:28Speaker 1: you know, they have these different ideas and these different
- 12:30Speaker 1: thoughts about me, and not knowing that I was battling
- 12:33Speaker 1: with this insecurity of being dark skinned and then being
- 12:36Speaker 1: the darkest one in my family and having to manage
- 12:40Speaker 1: my own complexes that I had about myself because I
- 12:48Speaker 1: didn't look like everybody else in my family and my
- 12:51Speaker 1: dad's fair skinning, my sister is light skinning, my mom
- 12:55Speaker 1: is caramel and like my baby sister's caramel life. And
- 12:59Speaker 1: then here I am this dark skin and then hearing black,
- 13:03Speaker 1: sit your black ass down, sit your blackness, and get
- 13:07Speaker 1: your black hands off of me, Like that's all I
- 13:09Speaker 1: ever heard. And it didn't hit me until I watched
- 13:14Speaker 1: the play back and I said, Wow, that really shaped me.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And I don't think we realize what shapes us until
- 13:22Speaker 1: we looking at the shape, until you realize like, oh,
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'm made in this way because the figures often are
- 13:35Speaker 1: molded by words, by the hands of those who are
- 13:41Speaker 1: meant to care for us, and oftentimes they mishandle us
- 13:46Speaker 1: and they drop us because their words doesn't allow them
- 13:50Speaker 1: to hold us in the hands that should keep us,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and rather they're held in the hands that usually hurt us,
- 13:56Speaker 1: if that makes sense. And I'm just grateful that the
- 14:03Speaker 1: clip the episode just went crazy, you know, and I
- 14:08Speaker 1: thought at that time, like, wow, man, people are really
- 14:11Speaker 1: you know, rocking with this. And there were some people
- 14:15Speaker 1: that felt some people thought my hair was fake, like
- 14:18Speaker 1: you know, somebody was said in the comment, or this
- 14:21Speaker 1: dude up here talking about he was hated on as
- 14:24Speaker 1: a dark skinned child while he's wearing a unit. You know,
- 14:28Speaker 1: people say some crazy things, man, But what I realized
- 14:31Speaker 1: is that colorism is not only real, but also we're
- 14:37Speaker 1: all holding onto insecurities that are real, whether you are
- 14:41Speaker 1: dark skinned, brown skin, light skin, however you identify. And
- 14:46Speaker 1: what that episode did was it brought to light what
- 14:51Speaker 1: people often hide in the dark. I gotta go with
- 15:00Speaker 1: David Birds, Man. I gotta go with David birds on
- 15:04Speaker 1: why most relationships that that episode there, man was crazy.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And it was crazy man, because you know, I didn't like,
- 15:20Speaker 1: you know, you just you don't think that, you know,
- 15:24Speaker 1: certain conversations are going to be you know what they
- 15:28Speaker 1: are until the audience, you know, gets their eyes on it.
- 15:34Speaker 1: And at the time that I had that conversation with David, like,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest man, like I really was desiring
- 15:39Speaker 1: a relationship that they could sit in the space with
- 15:42Speaker 1: me so they don't feel, you know what I'm saying, like,
- 15:46Speaker 1: you know, left out.
- 15:47Speaker 2: And you become a murderer when you do that. And
- 15:50Speaker 2: the reason why is because if you're so big you
- 15:53Speaker 2: suffocate the people then aren't big enough to love you. You're
- 15:56Speaker 2: too big and it's your hearts sitting on they will
- 16:00Speaker 2: kill them. I want you to hear that you're too
- 16:05Speaker 2: big for little And why am I'm a big famous
- 16:09Speaker 2: I'm talking about big in the body, big in the kingdom,
- 16:14Speaker 2: big in Christ. And so you can't be with the
- 16:17Speaker 2: little woman. You will suffocate her.
- 16:20Speaker 1: And so when I sat down with David, I was like, Yo, man,
- 16:24Speaker 1: why am I single? Bro? Like, what the heck is
- 16:27Speaker 1: going on? You know what I'm saying. So I sit
- 16:30Speaker 1: down with David, who is a phenomenal guy, very insightful
- 16:36Speaker 1: and very wise in the space of relationships, and man,
- 16:41Speaker 1: he just beginning to peel back layers, and the layers
- 16:45Speaker 1: that he was peeling back was just like, you know,
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm like, man, it was like I feel like that,
- 16:54Speaker 1: but I just couldn't put it into words. You know,
- 16:57Speaker 1: when he started saying with JB. Man, you're different type
- 17:00Speaker 1: of man, and it's like, I know that I'm a
- 17:02Speaker 1: different type of man, but I don't get to say
- 17:03Speaker 1: that I'm a different type of man, because if you
- 17:05Speaker 1: say it is you're a different type of man today
- 17:07Speaker 1: it's like, oh, you're self absorbed or you know, he's
- 17:10Speaker 1: a narcissist. He wants everything to be about him. He's
- 17:12Speaker 1: blah blah blah. So that episode, when I tell you, it,
- 17:17Speaker 1: blessed my socks off because for the first time I
- 17:21Speaker 1: felt seen in what I felt, and my feelings were
- 17:26Speaker 1: validated by a brother who saw me and who could
- 17:33Speaker 1: articulate what I could not put into words, because I
- 17:38Speaker 1: was also worried about if I said like this, what
- 17:41Speaker 1: are they gonna think? So having him to speak for me, man,
- 17:45Speaker 1: it was just a phenomenal episode. And when he started
- 17:49Speaker 1: talking about how you know, being a heel man and
- 17:55Speaker 1: what that requires for the woman, because I often say
- 17:59Speaker 1: this to ladies, when a brother becomes here, a brother
- 18:02Speaker 1: is emotionally intelligent, a brother is aware, it's going to
- 18:06Speaker 1: challenge your perception, not of just of the brother, but
- 18:10Speaker 1: even the perception of yourself, because sometimes you've identified yourself
- 18:13Speaker 1: to be here, not because you're better, but sometimes in
- 18:19Speaker 1: some cases not. All women feel just because they are
- 18:24Speaker 1: more emotional, that they are more emotional intelligent, and that's
- 18:29Speaker 1: not the same thing. Now, you may be more emotional
- 18:32Speaker 1: because that's your primary function, but to have an understanding
- 18:36Speaker 1: of your emotions to regulate them is totally different, and
- 18:40Speaker 1: so to deal with a brother who may have advanced
- 18:44Speaker 1: in that area because he's sat with himself. He has
- 18:47Speaker 1: a sense of awareness, a sense of acuity that allows
- 18:51Speaker 1: him to sort of, you know, to see things that
- 18:55Speaker 1: are often overlooked, and particularly in a relationship space, because
- 19:00Speaker 1: you know, some women feel like, well, I'm the woman,
- 19:03Speaker 1: you know, I know more than you, I'm smarter than you.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And it's not that you. Women are smarter than men.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Women have been given more time to become so it
- 19:15Speaker 1: can make you more advanced emotionally and socially. So feeling
- 19:22Speaker 1: gets a pretty Oh man, God, my friend my dog
- 19:29Speaker 1: just talked to the other day too. She's on Broadway, August Wilson,
- 19:36Speaker 1: and it was crazy because man, you know, God is
- 19:41Speaker 1: so amazing. Everything just aligned that we were doing something
- 19:45Speaker 1: with Taraji that weekend in DC just so happened. We
- 19:49Speaker 1: got a crew together, we were able to feel it
- 19:52Speaker 1: in a hotel and also be able to bring this
- 19:54Speaker 1: to the audience. May it's mental health Awareness month and
- 19:59Speaker 1: she's just blacks. I saw socks off on that episode
- 20:01Speaker 1: because she was so open talking about dating, you know,
- 20:04Speaker 1: not dating a man that's not healed.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Now somebody's like you date. No, I'm not dealing with
- 20:09Speaker 3: nobody's unhealed son. Can I get an amen? Hallelu hallelujah.
- 20:15Speaker 3: And you know, I'm even thinking about like the marriage thing,
- 20:19Speaker 3: like I don't even know if I need the stresses
- 20:22Speaker 3: of that in my life. A lot of lifetime partner
- 20:24Speaker 3: for sure, but at this big old age, I'm not
- 20:27Speaker 3: having kids, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to partner. I don't know if I
- 20:33Speaker 1: want the papers to go.
- 20:35Speaker 3: I don't I don't know if I want that.
- 20:37Speaker 1: You know. And she said she didn't want to be
- 20:39Speaker 1: dealing with nobody unhealed son and talking about how pretty
- 20:43Speaker 1: healing was and shared her journey and what her journey
- 20:48Speaker 1: has been like. That episode was so far man and
- 20:51Speaker 1: then it was also fired because I was able to
- 20:53Speaker 1: get an a one person you know what I'm saying.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And so now we were official, you know what I'm saying,
- 20:58Speaker 1: Because let me just be honest, y'all want ja until
- 21:01Speaker 1: we brought to Raji on. I'm just gonna be real,
- 21:04Speaker 1: you know, And that's okay because sometimes you need somebody
- 21:07Speaker 1: to come on and kind of bless you and kind
- 21:09Speaker 1: of you know, give you that credibility and just kind of,
- 21:12Speaker 1: you know, give you that sort of you know, Oprah effect.
- 21:16Speaker 1: And that's what he did. She came and blessed us.
- 21:19Speaker 1: And I'm telling you that the floodgates opening because now
- 21:22Speaker 1: everybody want to sit down and talk with your boy.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Everybody want to sit down and talk to the good doctor,
- 21:27Speaker 1: as my mama called me, the good doctor. Everybody wanted
- 21:30Speaker 1: to sit down and open up. And that opened up
- 21:34Speaker 1: the door for not just celebrities, but people who were
- 21:43Speaker 1: of a certain status could sit down and have a
- 21:46Speaker 1: conversation and say that guy knows what he's doing and
- 21:49Speaker 1: he's for real about it, you know, because to Rajia,
- 21:52Speaker 1: don't sit down with everybody and talk to you know, everybody,
- 21:57Speaker 1: and especially in the way that she sat down and
- 22:01Speaker 1: talk with me and open up. So it was it
- 22:03Speaker 1: was a phenomenal episode. I really, I really enjoyed that episode. Mister,
- 22:12Speaker 1: Oh god, how did you navigate on the performer and
- 22:17Speaker 1: the man?
- 22:18Speaker 4: Oh, when I get that right, I'll come back. When
- 22:22Speaker 4: I get that right, I'll come back.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 4: Oh no, I love it. Oh no, I don't know
- 22:27Speaker 4: if you ever it's because they're so intertwined, that said,
- 22:30Speaker 4: they are so much part of the DNA of who
- 22:33Speaker 4: you are, that that that when you are passionate and
- 22:38Speaker 4: committed to your craft, that you don't know a lot
- 22:43Speaker 4: of times when the lines are like you hear Denzel
- 22:46Speaker 4: talk about how it took months for him to get
- 22:49Speaker 4: the character of Malcolm X outside of his body because
- 22:52Speaker 4: he embodied that character so much. You hear how actors
- 22:55Speaker 4: transform themselves, but sometimes it drives them crazy because they
- 23:00Speaker 4: became so much of that. You hear about Heath Legendary
- 23:03Speaker 4: before he was brokefore he took his life. How when
- 23:05Speaker 4: he played the Joker, how playing that character almost took
- 23:10Speaker 4: him out. And I just think that it is very
- 23:13Speaker 4: difficult to want to be committed to a high level
- 23:17Speaker 4: of your craft and turned that off and on.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I tell you what's crazy, man. I went back and
- 23:23Speaker 1: watched Kirk's reels or shorts, and I think at the time,
- 23:29Speaker 1: even for us as a team, for me personally, Kirk
- 23:34Speaker 1: spoke to so much man. I mean I remember the clip.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I can see it now when he just started just
- 23:41Speaker 1: to try. How it costs to try, how it costs
- 23:46Speaker 1: to pursue your dream, it costs to go after your vision.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And I mean it was just Jim after gym after
- 23:54Speaker 1: gym and God again, God aligned it. I had just
- 23:59Speaker 1: felmed in August, then with the Kings, then of Kings
- 24:08Speaker 1: and we got blessed. While I was doing Din of Kings,
- 24:11Speaker 1: they was like, yo, Kirk, you need to do doctor
- 24:13Speaker 1: Jay's podcast. Kirk was like, yo, say less. And we
- 24:18Speaker 1: were in Dallas. Had did a few people, and Kirk
- 24:22Speaker 1: was like, Yo, I'm available. I'm pulling up. And man,
- 24:25Speaker 1: when he pulled up, their brother pulled up and I
- 24:27Speaker 1: mean he just dropping gym out the gym out the
- 24:29Speaker 1: gym out Jim. The Kirk episode is probably my top
- 24:33Speaker 1: five episode. I'm gonna say my number one. I'm gonna
- 24:36Speaker 1: say David gotta be David Birds number two. I'm gonna
- 24:43Speaker 1: say Taraji number two. I'm gonna say my mom's number three,
- 24:51Speaker 1: number three, number three, because my mom would never like
- 24:55Speaker 1: she's never been into and some of you probably gonna
- 24:57Speaker 1: be like, why is it your mom number one? Because
- 25:00Speaker 1: see mama isn't number one. Because David Bird like that
- 25:04Speaker 1: was personal, so I gotta put that in Taraji. That
- 25:08Speaker 1: was pivotal personal and pivotal. Number three with my mom
- 25:17Speaker 1: was profound, was very profound. Number four, I'm gonna give
- 25:24Speaker 1: that to Kirk and I'm gonna say that was purposeful.
- 25:32Speaker 1: That was purposeful. And number five pretty v because that
- 25:39Speaker 1: was prophetic when people are.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Like pouring into you and telling you like, yes, you're dope,
- 25:44Speaker 3: You're great. And you see yourself in that space too,
- 25:46Speaker 3: I know you do, you know, but see it because
- 25:49Speaker 3: you're so where God is going to take you. It's
- 25:52Speaker 3: going to be amazing. But you have to see it
- 25:54Speaker 3: for you too, Like you need to know that I
- 25:57Speaker 3: am doctor J. Barnett and I am who God's called
- 26:00Speaker 3: to be and everything else is just noise. Everything else.
- 26:03Speaker 3: There's no more residue, there's no more things that I
- 26:05Speaker 3: have to deal with, not even from this. Not like
- 26:08Speaker 3: you are going to excel in everything that you do.
- 26:11Speaker 3: But the decisions that you're gonna make is gonna one
- 26:15Speaker 3: have to be that you want it, not for nobody else.
- 26:17Speaker 3: And it pleases God to in the midst of it,
- 26:20Speaker 3: nothing else outside of it, because He's gonna take you big,
- 26:24Speaker 3: You're gonna take you higher, and the things that you
- 26:26Speaker 3: so desire from a child, it's gonna be that.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I'm just saying I have to I have to release that.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna call you this episode like.
- 26:36Speaker 3: What you desire? You know what I'm saying, what you desire,
- 26:40Speaker 3: It's gonna come, but it's gonna take a little bit
- 26:43Speaker 3: more of you and him. And it's just a decipher
- 26:48Speaker 3: what that looks like, you know, because everybody else gonna
- 26:51Speaker 3: make the decision, they gonna say whatever.
- 26:53Speaker 1: But it's like you.
- 26:54Speaker 3: She's like, okay, you what is.
- 26:57Speaker 1: What do you want?
- 26:58Speaker 3: And you want your You see yourself around those tables,
- 27:02Speaker 3: around those conversations and around those moments. You know that's
- 27:05Speaker 3: gonna make you that billionaire. And not just because it
- 27:08Speaker 3: sound good. No, it's gonna be things that the schooling
- 27:11Speaker 3: whatever you want to open for these men, you know,
- 27:15Speaker 3: these mental like whatever it is. I mean, of course
- 27:18Speaker 3: I know you don't you know, close something, but whatever
- 27:20Speaker 3: it is.
- 27:21Speaker 1: He's gonna do it.
- 27:23Speaker 4: You're doing i'mderstand.
- 27:24Speaker 5: I just have to say that because you always be
- 27:26Speaker 5: pouring to me, you know, and you always you know,
- 27:29Speaker 5: And I told God allow people around me to be
- 27:31Speaker 5: able to see me, because some people just see funny,
- 27:35Speaker 5: you know, you know what I'm saying.
- 27:36Speaker 3: People just see funny and pretty and all that stuff.
- 27:38Speaker 3: But like do you actually see a friend like I
- 27:41Speaker 3: see and I understand you. Your eyes say it so.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I see appreciate it that I mean, dude, it was
- 27:50Speaker 1: just like, Man, that's I'm reflecting back. Man. God, you
- 27:55Speaker 1: have Sarah too, Pasta Sarah? Oh yeah, past Sarah was
- 28:00Speaker 1: yeah yeah yeah the divorce. Man, I forgot about pastor Sara.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Man that episode godh yeah, man, Pasta Sara. I'll tell you.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Another episode that I really love CJ was Josh Paell.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Episode was really good, major episode. The second one like it.
- 28:29Speaker 1: We made up for it, but the first one I
- 28:32Speaker 1: felt like. The first one was like was was killer,
- 28:34Speaker 1: but you know, h out of some some way we
- 28:38Speaker 1: lost the file and so we had to do it again.
- 28:41Speaker 1: But it made up for The episode with Glenn was
- 28:43Speaker 1: really good. Was was really good. Little Real episode was good.
- 28:50Speaker 1: The episode with Joel was good. Rico Love was good.
- 28:59Speaker 1: The episod so with my sister that was definitely a
- 29:03Speaker 1: healing Yeah. We never well, well no, we well we
- 29:09Speaker 1: never put the episode where my sister is interviewing me out.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Yeah yeah we put yeah yeah, we didn't coming to
- 29:20Speaker 1: yeah becoming Ja. Yeah, but you know what though, Man,
- 29:24Speaker 1: where I'm at today? I couldn't put that episode out.
- 29:27Speaker 1: It wouldn't fit where I'm at in life. I think
- 29:31Speaker 1: it needed to be done at that time because I
- 29:34Speaker 1: was able to release some things. And it also gave
- 29:37Speaker 1: my sister a deeper understanding about me, because I'll say this,
- 29:42Speaker 1: when you growing up in a family, I'm the only boy.
- 29:45Speaker 1: I'm the oldest. So not only did I have responsibility,
- 29:50Speaker 1: I've also had to be reserved in the things that
- 29:54Speaker 1: I dealt with. So I couldn't really be vocal about
- 29:59Speaker 1: what I felt because I was being a surrogate excuse me,
- 30:03Speaker 1: I was being a surrogate father to my sisters, but
- 30:06Speaker 1: then also a standing husband to my mother. So I
- 30:11Speaker 1: was operating as a man at the age of thirteen.
- 30:14Speaker 1: And I say this often. I just recently said this
- 30:16Speaker 1: in a message. I've been a man a lot longer
- 30:19Speaker 1: than I've been a son. So that episode with my
- 30:24Speaker 1: sister like me talking about the suicide attempts and open like,
- 30:28Speaker 1: I mean, we I really open up, and you know,
- 30:30Speaker 1: I may drop that one day, but man, you know,
- 30:32Speaker 1: when I look at it now, I'm like, oh my god, man,
- 30:34Speaker 1: it's just so sad, you know, And not that it's sad,
- 30:37Speaker 1: but the information that I'm sharing, like is very heavy.
- 30:42Speaker 1: And even when I go and watch the clip, my
- 30:45Speaker 1: face looks heavy, my body language looks heavy, and it's
- 30:49Speaker 1: like I was still carrying some residue. And like when
- 30:54Speaker 1: I look at myself now in the mirror and I
- 30:56Speaker 1: look at some of that episode in particularly, like, it's
- 30:59Speaker 1: just like, man, that was heavy. And believe it or not,
- 31:07Speaker 1: you carry the weight of your issues in your body. Here.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I'm a firm believe in that. This is why, like
- 31:16Speaker 1: lymphatic drainage, it's so important for you to flush that
- 31:22Speaker 1: because we hold trauma in our stomach, we hold trauma
- 31:26Speaker 1: in our hips, we hold trauma in our neck, we
- 31:30Speaker 1: hold trauma in our back. And I just gave you
- 31:33Speaker 1: four main areas where we hold our trauma. Stomach, hips, neck,
- 31:39Speaker 1: and back and a lot of times the aches and
- 31:43Speaker 1: pains and all of this sort of chronic issues that
- 31:47Speaker 1: we have in our body. It's from holding on to trauma.
- 31:50Speaker 1: It's from holding on to unprocessed pain. And when I
- 31:54Speaker 1: look at my face and I look at myself, man,
- 31:56Speaker 1: I was just like ooh, man, because what had happened
- 32:00Speaker 1: was I went on this fitness journey, was doing well
- 32:04Speaker 1: taking care of myself. And then all of a sudden, man,
- 32:06Speaker 1: I started to do a dip because I think what
- 32:08Speaker 1: was happening was I was kind of wearing myself then.
- 32:12Speaker 1: And it was interesting because as I was on this
- 32:16Speaker 1: podcast journ I was also trying to date to you know,
- 32:18Speaker 1: and be honest about that. I was trying to talk
- 32:20Speaker 1: to people and trying to get to know people. And
- 32:25Speaker 1: let me tell you, man, it was it was not
- 32:31Speaker 1: a great idea because when you're building something that's special,
- 32:38Speaker 1: it's very important that you are discerning of who you
- 32:47Speaker 1: bring into your life because whoever gets close to the
- 32:50Speaker 1: builder impacts how he builds or how she builds. Whoever
- 32:56Speaker 1: get close to the builder has the greatest power or
- 33:00Speaker 1: to disrupt what you are building, which is why you
- 33:05Speaker 1: have to be so intentional about how you allow people
- 33:08Speaker 1: into your space. Because once people get into your space,
- 33:14Speaker 1: it gives them accessibility into your spirit, into your mind,
- 33:19Speaker 1: and into your into your your your your clothes, you know.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Quarters you have to be very intentional who gets into
- 33:27Speaker 1: your yard. That's why you can't lay everybody in your yard,
- 33:30Speaker 1: because they get in your yard, they got they can
- 33:33Speaker 1: get on your porch and if you get in your porch.
- 33:35Speaker 1: They gonna get in your house.
- 33:37Speaker 5: Uh.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Bush and Borders often talk to me about there are
- 33:40Speaker 1: some people you gotta talk to over the fence. They
- 33:44Speaker 1: don't get in your yard. So I learned so much
- 33:49Speaker 1: about myself. Man. So I have a new book coming
- 33:52Speaker 1: out next year by Penguin Random House, Pursuing Pace, phenomenal book.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Do you hear me? They? Matter of fact, the publishing
- 34:05Speaker 1: company just emailed me back the other day, So you
- 34:07Speaker 1: should be very proud. Phenomenal book The Fords written by Taraji,
- 34:13Speaker 1: phenomenal book now. And I'm not just saying, but pursuing
- 34:19Speaker 1: pace is really about finding rhythm, finding flow. And while
- 34:23Speaker 1: I was writing Pursuing Pace, I was also in the
- 34:27Speaker 1: midst of identifying what pace would look like, for what
- 34:30Speaker 1: it would look like for me in this season because
- 34:32Speaker 1: my speaking didn't slow down. My speaking, in fact picked
- 34:36Speaker 1: up while I'm filming podcasts, trying to squeeze three episodes
- 34:41Speaker 1: in here, trying to squeeze four episodes in there. So
- 34:46Speaker 1: it was a lot of adjusting, and it was a
- 34:49Speaker 1: lot of pivoting. It was a lot of understanding that
- 34:55Speaker 1: I may have to be agile in some areas to
- 34:59Speaker 1: get it and sometimes that you know, that was the
- 35:03Speaker 1: only thing that I could focus on was getting it
- 35:06Speaker 1: done and finding flow and finding pace. You have to
- 35:12Speaker 1: identify the rhythm of your body first, what is the
- 35:18Speaker 1: rhythm within your body? Because you can be saying go here,
- 35:22Speaker 1: but your body is saying no. You could be saying
- 35:25Speaker 1: go in your head, but your body is saying I
- 35:29Speaker 1: gotta slow down. And so if you're not on the
- 35:32Speaker 1: same frequency with your mind and with your body, you
- 35:35Speaker 1: can't find pace. In fact, you won't be able to
- 35:38Speaker 1: identify what it looks like because you're off beat. And
- 35:42Speaker 1: if you're all beat, you're not on rhythm. So everything
- 35:45Speaker 1: in life needs a rhythm, and everything has a rhythm
- 35:48Speaker 1: to it. When you look at how the world moves
- 35:51Speaker 1: through the season, there's a rhythm and how the seasons changed.
- 35:57Speaker 1: When you see the fall, when we're coming out of
- 35:59Speaker 1: summer and you're enter into the fall, you see the
- 36:02Speaker 1: leaves beginning to shift and change colors. They become beautiful.
- 36:06Speaker 1: They turn you know, burnt orange, and you know they
- 36:10Speaker 1: turn this this burgundy. You know, all of these different colors,
- 36:15Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, it's preparing the trees for
- 36:20Speaker 1: coming out of the summer. But then you're getting ready
- 36:22Speaker 1: to go into a dead season. So it's like, God,
- 36:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you this last of this little beauty,
- 36:30Speaker 1: and then I'm getting ready to kill everything, right, because
- 36:34Speaker 1: everything is dead in the winter, and everybody migrates, animals, humans,
- 36:39Speaker 1: We all our body change. You. I don't care what
- 36:42Speaker 1: type of diet you're on. In the winter. Your body
- 36:44Speaker 1: is going to hold water. Your body is gonna hold
- 36:47Speaker 1: weight because your your your your body is reserving because
- 36:52Speaker 1: the winter time is colder, so your body has to
- 36:56Speaker 1: sort of incubate itself, right, or so I say, say
- 37:00Speaker 1: insulate itself. So you're gonna hold more weight in the winter. Now,
- 37:06Speaker 1: notice this the rhythm of coming out of the winter
- 37:11Speaker 1: and enter into the spring. In March, you start to
- 37:16Speaker 1: see a little greenery, You get a little more rain.
- 37:20Speaker 1: We often hear April shower, Bring April showers, bring mayflowers.
- 37:26Speaker 1: You started to see the trees started to budding and
- 37:29Speaker 1: all those different things. Particularly you know, we were up
- 37:33Speaker 1: in Napa in the early part of the year, and
- 37:37Speaker 1: most of the buddings takes place July and August and September,
- 37:46Speaker 1: think late August September, they start harvesting, you know, getting
- 37:50Speaker 1: ready for the wine. And so just think there's either
- 37:55Speaker 1: the rhythm to how they harvest the grapes to go
- 37:59Speaker 1: into the pros says of being crushed to make why
- 38:03Speaker 1: the trees has a rhythm, the season has a rhythm.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Everything has a rhythm in life. Why don't you? And
- 38:11Speaker 1: you can't have rhythm till you understand what pace is.
- 38:15Speaker 1: And pace has nothing to do with speed. It has
- 38:17Speaker 1: everything to do with flow and frequency. It's not about
- 38:21Speaker 1: how fast you can go. It's about cadence. And so
- 38:27Speaker 1: I spent the majority of the year not only writing
- 38:31Speaker 1: the book, but finding my cadence, my flow, my breathing,
- 38:35Speaker 1: because your breathing changes, you know, And if you don't,
- 38:41Speaker 1: and if you don't take the time to identify what
- 38:46Speaker 1: your flow is, you'll always be out pace, and you'll
- 38:52Speaker 1: find yourself out of breath. You'll find yourself overwhelmed, You'll
- 38:55Speaker 1: find yourself over work, you'll find yourself overdoing. You want
- 39:00Speaker 1: to get into the rhythm because the rhythm I always
- 39:03Speaker 1: allow you to be present and where you are. And
- 39:06Speaker 1: I like to say this, and I'm believe it, it's
- 39:08Speaker 1: truly from the bottom of my heart. Always be where
- 39:10Speaker 1: your feet are planted. Always be where your feet are planted.
- 39:17Speaker 1: What has love taught me in this last season? Man?
- 39:30Speaker 1: What has love taught me in this last season? Love has?
- 39:42Speaker 1: Love has given me man such a different perspective man
- 39:45Speaker 1: on life in this season, Man, Love has taught me
- 39:51Speaker 1: what it's like to feel. I think oftentimes when it
- 39:55Speaker 1: comes to us as man, we have such a difficult
- 39:57Speaker 1: time feeling. And I'm not talking about touching things. I'm
- 40:01Speaker 1: talking about being able to behold something, being able to
- 40:08Speaker 1: behold the essence of not just the person, but the
- 40:11Speaker 1: essence of their spirit, the essence of their being. And
- 40:17Speaker 1: love has taught me what it's like to live again,
- 40:21Speaker 1: what it's like to just be. I spent the majority
- 40:26Speaker 1: of my life just existing, and love has taught me
- 40:30Speaker 1: how to live alive. Love has taught me how to
- 40:38Speaker 1: appreciate man, how to see life in such a different
- 40:44Speaker 1: because when you think about it, bro, we were made
- 40:47Speaker 1: in love. God gave us his son and love. Love
- 40:54Speaker 1: has taught me how to give differently. I often gave
- 40:59Speaker 1: because I was like, I want to be a good person.
- 41:02Speaker 1: You know you should give because God says you should give.
- 41:08Speaker 1: But love taught me where to give from? You know
- 41:15Speaker 1: where you're giving from? What is that place? What is
- 41:18Speaker 1: your posture when you give? You know what I mean.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Love has taught me how to see myself as I am,
- 41:28Speaker 1: and also how to and also how to see myself
- 41:31Speaker 1: as I wish to become. Love has taught me how
- 41:37Speaker 1: to just accept what is now, you know. Love has
- 41:45Speaker 1: taught me how to be present. Love has taught me
- 41:48Speaker 1: how to see beyond the cracks and the crevices, and
- 41:54Speaker 1: to see beyond the imperfections, to see beyond all of
- 42:02Speaker 1: the issues that we normally place uh as a feller,
- 42:12Speaker 1: and we'll use those fellers to not receive love, and
- 42:15Speaker 1: then we'll say, well, we don't need it. But I
- 42:17Speaker 1: can tell you this, man, if you don't have love,
- 42:21Speaker 1: you don't have nothing. And I'm not just talking about
- 42:23Speaker 1: it from a romantic place, but if you don't even
- 42:25Speaker 1: have love for yourself, what do you have? Love has
- 42:29Speaker 1: taught me so much, man, And I'm grateful for the
- 42:37Speaker 1: person that really showed me what that looks like. You know,
- 42:40Speaker 1: and y'all know me. I don't talk about love. I
- 42:44Speaker 1: don't talk about it man, like I'm I It's like
- 42:46Speaker 1: even now I'm like, oh my god, what are you doing?
- 42:49Speaker 1: But if I'm honest, that's the next phase for me,
- 42:54Speaker 1: because what good is it? What good is it? If
- 42:57Speaker 1: I do all of this healing and I never love,
- 43:03Speaker 1: what was it for? And I think I want people
- 43:08Speaker 1: to realize is that I'm not. You don't just heal
- 43:10Speaker 1: just to say oh I'm healed. You heal to love better.
- 43:16Speaker 1: You heal to love better. Man, to love you better,
- 43:19Speaker 1: to love others better, to love your spouse, your wife,
- 43:23Speaker 1: your children. You heal to love better. And that's what
- 43:26Speaker 1: I've really learned, and I'm excited about what the future holds. Man.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I desire marriage, I desire family, and i'm'a tell y'all,
- 43:36Speaker 1: I would be the first to tell you I was
- 43:37Speaker 1: ready to heal this world and never have any of
- 43:40Speaker 1: those things. And one day God checked me, and God
- 43:46Speaker 1: checked me and says, why aren't you loving yourself in
- 43:50Speaker 1: the way that I see you? And I said, I
- 43:56Speaker 1: didn't think I deserved it. That's what it was. It
- 43:59Speaker 1: was a lack of worthiness. A lot of us are
- 44:02Speaker 1: not open to love. And I'm not just talking about
- 44:04Speaker 1: love in a relationship way, because we'll quickly talk about
- 44:07Speaker 1: erotic love there's a god paid love, that's aarrow's love.
- 44:11Speaker 1: But when you just think about man, a lot of
- 44:13Speaker 1: us just don't have self love because if you were
- 44:18Speaker 1: not love well, you don't know how to appreciate yourself.
- 44:22Speaker 1: If you were not love well, you don't know how
- 44:24Speaker 1: to see yourself, And so that makes it very difficult
- 44:27Speaker 1: for you to see others. And then you will see
- 44:30Speaker 1: others through the eyes of your pain and through the
- 44:32Speaker 1: eyes of your trauma, and then you would hear through
- 44:38Speaker 1: the ear drums and the processing of how you were handled.
- 44:44Speaker 1: And for most of us, we were not handle well.
- 44:47Speaker 1: We were mishandled, so it's hard for us to handle
- 44:49Speaker 1: others with care. So my shirt as I'm closing out
- 44:57Speaker 1: this season fifty two like healing. This journey started with healing,
- 45:03Speaker 1: is gonna end with healing. I truly want us to
- 45:08Speaker 1: begin loving ourselves in the way that God sees us,
- 45:12Speaker 1: because I'm telling you, man, like it has changed my life.
- 45:17Speaker 1: I would be the first to tell you I was
- 45:19Speaker 1: ready to love, but I was not ready to receive love.
- 45:24Speaker 1: And here's the part. Here's the other part of that.
- 45:26Speaker 1: I was ready to give in a way to provide.
- 45:31Speaker 1: But I think even that would have been short changed
- 45:35Speaker 1: for the individual because it's like, well, how do you
- 45:37Speaker 1: do that if you're not gonna provide emotionally Like, that's
- 45:42Speaker 1: great that you can work hard and pay a bill
- 45:44Speaker 1: and you can pay some trips and this and that,
- 45:45Speaker 1: because I can work hard. But then God was like,
- 45:48Speaker 1: why won't you open your heart? So everybody, season, what
- 46:01Speaker 1: I would you like to say to your vi mm
- 46:08Speaker 1: as I'm closing Season one, fifty two episodes, fifty two
- 46:13Speaker 1: cars and a deck. Healing is a journey. It's ugly,
- 46:25Speaker 1: it's frustrating, it's painful. Sometime you gonna laugh. The majority
- 46:34Speaker 1: of the time you gonna cry. Healing can be very
- 46:39Speaker 1: agitating because I don't care what a therapist tell you.
- 46:48Speaker 1: There's no real map on how they heal properly, because
- 46:58Speaker 1: true healing is all going to challenge you to let
- 47:01Speaker 1: go of the story that you are holding on to.
- 47:04Speaker 1: In fact, healing is going to challenge you to give
- 47:08Speaker 1: that story back and to pick up a new story.
- 47:13Speaker 1: And it's hard because sometimes we hold onto our stories
- 47:16Speaker 1: because they validate us in some way. You'd be surprised
- 47:21Speaker 1: that the people who would rather hold on to a
- 47:24Speaker 1: familiar story than to choose an unfamiliar story, even if
- 47:28Speaker 1: it's healthier, because they know the familiar, which is why
- 47:32Speaker 1: it's so difficult for people to leave relationships where they're
- 47:36Speaker 1: being abused, or they're not being treated right, or being disrespectful.
- 47:39Speaker 1: It's the devil they know. We often hear people talk
- 47:42Speaker 1: about they could deal with the devil they know. But
- 47:45Speaker 1: when I started this journey and my first day in therapy,
- 47:50Speaker 1: when a guy asked me, will you come back? I
- 47:52Speaker 1: say yes? He said why. I said, I'm interested in
- 47:57Speaker 1: who I can become if I keep coming back. So
- 48:01Speaker 1: I want you to be interested in who you can
- 48:04Speaker 1: become if you keep doing the work, and hopefully you
- 48:09Speaker 1: keep doing the work with watching just here with doctor
- 48:12Speaker 1: J because healing is a journey, baby, and wholeness is
- 48:16Speaker 1: a destination. I'm grateful, I'm I'm happy, I'm I'm all
- 48:24Speaker 1: the things. I'm beyond excited that you lend me your
- 48:29Speaker 1: ear every Tuesday. I'm beyond excited that you repost the

- 48:39Speaker 1: your sister, your mom, your girlfriends. You know. I'm I'm
- 48:43Speaker 1: just excited that you decide to share what God has
- 48:46Speaker 1: placed in me, because you know what my goal is
- 48:49Speaker 1: is to be a better instrument to fit into God's hands,
- 48:53Speaker 1: to be used by him. Listen, guys, today episode is
- 48:56Speaker 1: our final episode of season one. This is number fifty two.
- 49:02Speaker 1: I'm just talking talking about some of my favorite clips,
- 49:05Speaker 1: favorite episode, favorite moments, and also just sharing the journey
- 49:09Speaker 1: of a year, fifty two episodes, fifty two weeks that
- 49:15Speaker 1: I brought to you healing conversations, conversations that were impactful,
- 49:18Speaker 1: conversations that were powerful conversation that allowed others to be
- 49:22Speaker 1: vulnerable but also allowed them to experience healing in real time.
- 49:27Speaker 1: From the likes of the David Burrs, Taraji, Kurt Franklin,
- 49:33Speaker 1: Jason Mitchell, Gosh, I can listen, go on, my mother,
- 49:39Speaker 1: my sister, Joel, like just so many different individuals that
- 49:44Speaker 1: I got to sit down with that were so powerful
- 49:47Speaker 1: that really changed my life in the midst of it,
- 49:49Speaker 1: because every conversation allowed me to look deeper into my
- 49:53Speaker 1: own healing journey. I hope to continue to bring more
- 49:56Speaker 1: episodes where you feel connected, you feel encouraged, and you
- 50:00Speaker 1: feel inspired to take the steps to begin your healing journey.
