- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us here on a Monday Red River
- 0:03Rivalry week edition of The Craigway Show here on Sports
- 0:06Radio AM thirteen one hundred of the Zone, where you
- 0:08can always listen to us for free on the iHeartRadio app.
- 0:11My name is Craig Wait. Thanks very much for joining us,
- 0:14and so glad to be able to say this. The
- 0:18producer of this program is here in the studio with us.
- 0:23He is none other than Cameron D.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Parker.
- 0:27Speaker 1: The D on the birth certificate actually stands for Dallas,
- 0:31as as in his favorite football team that he refuses
- 0:36to watch on television that still provided thrills.
- 0:38Speaker 2: In a victory last night, the Dallas Cowboys.
- 0:41Speaker 1: No No, these past several days, the D has stood
- 0:44for disabled Cameron disabled Parker.
- 0:48Speaker 2: But he's abled again and he's back in the house.
- 0:51Speaker 3: How you feeling a lot better, Craig, A lot better
- 0:53than how I was feeling about the midweek mark of
- 0:57last week. Disabled is the correct term for where the
- 1:01shape I was in.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Now to take everybody back through this, actually start on
- 1:06Monday night a week ago, right, Tuesday, Tuesday day. All right,
- 1:09you tell everybody exactly what happened, because the thing I've
- 1:12been asked most by people.
- 1:13Speaker 2: A lot of people your weapons we care about since
- 1:16what exactly did he do?
- 1:18Speaker 1: And I said, well, it was had something to do
- 1:20with weightlifting, but I don't know all of details. So
- 1:24take everybody through exactly what you did or tried to
- 1:27do unsuccessfully and it led to the issues.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Tuesday, before work, tried to get in a little
- 1:33lift session at my gym, Crunch fitness suit a park,
- 1:36great spot back day. I was gonna do some deadlifting
- 1:40and I'm already you know at this point just probably
- 1:42should just go ahead and stop deadlifting. But barbell deadlift,
- 1:45second second set just felt lower back. But that muscle
- 1:49pull didn't didn't feel good. And I've had some like
- 1:52hip flexer, lower back. You know, it's all connected issues
- 1:55before in the past. Probably should learn how the stretch
- 1:57would be a good idea.
- 1:58Speaker 2: But came in.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I got an icy hot at HGB before coming into
- 2:02the studio, and you know, I was limping around, very
- 2:06gingerly moving around.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I remember one specific moment you want, Oh yeah, and
- 2:10it was tough for you to get back in the chair.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Yeah, there was.
- 2:12Speaker 3: There wasn't great sitting in this chair probably was not
- 2:15the best idea for the next three four hours, but
- 2:18the show ends. My only goal is just skid, just
- 2:20get home, get in bed, ice pack, and.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Then tell everybody what happened.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I was going to mention an inconceivable and then I
- 2:28got tied down. I didn't when you were still here
- 2:32and I was gone, and you went to the restroom.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Yeah, so leaving, getting ready to go home to the
- 2:38go to the bathroom, and my back just gave out
- 2:41and I just collapsed on the floor. For probably about
- 2:42ten fifteen minutes. You're just laying on the ground, could
- 2:46could not move. Called my dad to see where he
- 2:48was at. He wasn't anywhere nearby, and I knew there
- 2:52were some people stole in the office when I when
- 2:54I left, so I was able to finally get on
- 2:57my feet somehow, and I could hear alex Or, our
- 3:01sales manager here in the Austin office. I could hear
- 3:03her saying goodbye to someone else in the studio. I
- 3:05called her and was like, hey, you may need to
- 3:07take me to the hospital if you can. So she
- 3:09came and helped me. We tried to walk down the
- 3:11hallway here.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I didn't mention that she didn't actually have to go
- 3:14into the no.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I was able to crawl out at that point, crawl out,
- 3:17get up, and we were walking towards her car. She
- 3:20was gonna take me the hospital at that point and
- 3:23again back gave out, got me into a chair, and
- 3:26at some point my dad had called my uncle who
- 3:29lives up in Round Rock and he was on his
- 3:30way down actually to pick me up. Got me and
- 3:33got me into his car, and then how to get
- 3:37carried inside my house pretty much, and my dad brought
- 3:39down my mattress from upstairs, put it on the ground,
- 3:42and I was sleeping. I was in the mattress on
- 3:45the living room floor for probably about thirty six hours
- 3:47straight until about Thursday. But fortunately, through the help of
- 3:53modern day medicine, some steroid injections, muscle relaxers, anti inflammatories,
- 3:58I was able to once again walk again. So don't
- 4:01call me Lazarus, but uh we got and don't give
- 4:04you a peed test either. Yeah that as well. In
- 4:08no more deadlifting for Meah, okay, all right, well, I'm
- 4:11glad you're back.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Glad you and Camas with us this morning. Over're on
- 4:14campus for our Longhorns Monday presentation. As we brought you
- 4:19Steve Sarcasan's weekly news conference at Texas ou week Red
- 4:22River Rivalry, UH press conference. We brought that to you live.
- 4:27Mike card Bill Hart's joining me over there for that
- 4:29as well, So, uh, we'll have that and we had
- 4:33it in its entirety live obviously when it happened this morning. However,
- 4:37for those of you missed it, or if you just
- 4:39want to hear the recap of it again, we have
- 4:41it in our usual uh broken down into the Q
- 4:45and A portions of the SoundBite portions, and you'll have
- 4:48you'll hear that throughout the course of the program this afternoon.
- 4:53We do need to talk about two major developments of
- 4:57the weekend college football, which saw all kinds of chaos
- 5:04with five of the top eleven teams ranked in the
- 5:07country all losing. In fact, it was almost six Miami
- 5:11was down thirty five to ten. Unless you stayed up late,
- 5:13late late for acc after dark. Stayed up late Saturday?
- 5:18Did you do that, by the way, late Saturday?
- 5:20Speaker 2: Nine?
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:21Speaker 2: Did you?
- 5:22Speaker 1: And I was after the game one of the Dodgers
- 5:26Padres National League Division Series. I slipping back and forth
- 5:29between the Miami California game and the Texas Tech Arizona game,
- 5:37and Miami was down thirty five ten at the half,
- 5:41came back and won thirty nine thirty eight over col
- 5:44So they avoided being the number six team or the
- 5:49sixth of eleven ranked teams to the top eleven to lose.
- 5:53But number one Alabama obviously fell to Vanderbilt. You had
- 5:58number four Tennessee losing on the road to an unranked Arkansas.
- 6:03You had a number nine Missouri getting absolutely boat raced
- 6:12by Texas A and m. You had tenth rank Michigan
- 6:15falling at Washington and number eleven usc losing at Minnesota.
- 6:19All of those teams lost, All of those teams suffered
- 6:22for it in the polls regardless of So.
- 6:25Speaker 2: There's that to discuss. Then there was the NFL.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Crazy finishes in both games involving the state of Texas
- 6:34to NFL teams. The early window with the Texans and
- 6:39the Bills, and it looked for all the world as
- 6:41though the Texans were giving away their opportunity. They took
- 6:44on that it had to get through kind of a
- 6:49mindless grounding call penalty against C. J. Stroud and then
- 6:57following a great punt by the Texans to see Buffalo
- 7:03kind of go brain dead offensively and for three straight
- 7:05in completions from inside their own five yard line to
- 7:09punt it and give Houston field position enough where they
- 7:13were able to maneuver for Kayimi Fairbairn to knock home
- 7:17a fifty nine yarder at the gun, and the Texans
- 7:21are now four and one as they beat the Buffalo
- 7:23Bills in that contest.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Then you have last night. I know I don't even
- 7:30need to ask it, but you did not watch the
- 7:32game last night? Did you actually, Craig Way, Hey, we
- 7:36get some true confessions here. Did you watch the game?
- 7:40I watched the very final play? Okay, because I did not.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I was at ACL yesterday and I knew the game
- 7:46was delayed and got back to my friend's place, you know,
- 7:50getting a late night snack, and it's you know, it's
- 7:52almost midnight, and the ESPN Fantasy app, you know, they'll
- 7:55send you notifications when your players scores a touchdown. Right,
- 7:58I knew I knew how the game was going, but
- 8:01I got a notification saying, hey, Pat Friremuth just caught
- 8:04a seven six yard touchdown pass. It's like, man, it's
- 8:06almost midnight, but that means that Pittsburgh is winning this
- 8:09football game. And so I checked my phone and saw
- 8:12Dallas had the ball in the one yard line. It
- 8:14was second or third and goal. Put on Twitter. Saw
- 8:17Twitter was melting down because Dak Prescott almost had to
- 8:21jump on a fumble. Have been the third Cowboys turn
- 8:23over the red zone. Yeah, put it up on YouTube TV.
- 8:26Saw them call like three timeouts in a row, and
- 8:28finally saw Dak Prescott did gilln Tolbert to win the game.
- 8:33Speaker 2: So you saw it.
- 8:34Speaker 1: You actually watched it live the game the very last play,
- 8:38last last play.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Did not did not see live of Ceedee Lamb calling
- 8:43Dak Prescott's interception a subpar throw. Did not see the
- 8:47two previous turnovers in the red zone. I didn't see
- 8:50Brandon Aubrey's getting his field gold block. Didn't get to
- 8:53watch Kyle Allen play.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Thank god.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I can't believe you actually still playing NFL football. He
- 8:58was in college of ten years ago. So but I
- 9:00did watch the final play. Okay, and I'll tell you what, Craig,
- 9:04I did.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It brought you back? Has it brought you back now?
- 9:06Speaker 3: Not even close? But I did feel happy for Dak
- 9:08Prescott that moment. Because Twitter was not very nice.
- 9:11Speaker 1: All ever, carving him up left and right and the
- 9:14early ripping and all that. And there were a few
- 9:16people I knew that were doing it, so I went
- 9:18back in. They're like, what was he thinking of that?
- 9:20I texted or I responded to a couple of social
- 9:24media as well. He was actually thinking he was going
- 9:26to lead them downfield completing four or five pass or
- 9:29it was five of seven passes for forty eight yards
- 9:31on the game winning drive, that kind of thing. And
- 9:34that's listen, that's how it's going to be with Dak.
- 9:37You're gonna have to take the bad with the good
- 9:39and stop bringing up the sixty million a year. You're
- 9:43not paying it. Jerry's paid. I know you say, ultimately
- 9:46it comes out of the ticket prices. Are you really
- 9:48going that much anyway? Are you a Cowboys season ticket older?
- 9:51If not, stop it with the two hundred and forty million,
- 9:54it's going to be what the market bears, what what
- 9:58pro football teams are willing to pay their quarterbacks. And
- 10:03he believes in Dak, and so he's gonna pay him
- 10:05the sixty million. So just deal with that and understand
- 10:09that sixty million is doesn't.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Buy you what it used to buy.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It's not going to buy you an infallible quarterback.
- 10:18Speaker 2: It isn't.
- 10:20Speaker 1: But with along some of the bad moments like you
- 10:22saw early in the game, you get some of what
- 10:24you saw at the tail end when he was calm
- 10:26and directed and let his guys down it and hopped
- 10:28on the fumble that Rico Daldole had knocked out of
- 10:30his hands. With that flying through the air hit from Pittsburgh, Dak, listen,
- 10:37he put him in a bad spot.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Absolutely, I'm with you. He also saved the day.
- 10:42Speaker 1: And you if you're going to rip him when he's
- 10:44not doing well, if you're going to torch him, and
- 10:47it's certainly understandable, you have to also.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Give credit where credit is due.
- 10:51Speaker 1: You have to swallow hard and say, okay, yeah, but
- 10:53he did come through, But why does it have to
- 10:54get to that. That's understandable, it's understandable, but you have
- 10:58to give credit as well as the blame.
- 11:00Speaker 3: And if you're a Steelers fan, you probably wish you
- 11:02had Dak Prescott because last night, if they had a
- 11:04capable quarterback, they won that game. And then look at
- 11:07Lamar Jackson, Craig, I mean, he had a mind blowing
- 11:10turnover and overtime, and fortunately for Ravens fans and the Ravens,
- 11:14McPherson misses his field goal Justin Tucker makes his, but
- 11:18just a brain dead play from probably the MVP front runner.
- 11:22And then Josh Allen yesterday, who was MVP two weeks ago.
- 11:25He didn't look good against Houston. So none of these
- 11:28quarterbacks have looked I don't think super impressive.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Now. I watched Matthew Stafford miss two open receivers, one
- 11:34that was incomplete, another that was intercepted, and they lost
- 11:37another game they should have won. So they're not infallible.
- 11:41They're going to make mistakes. Understand that, and the sooner
- 11:45you understand it accept it, the better off you arm.
- 11:48All right, coming up, we're gonna hear from Long Worn's
- 11:50head coach Steve Sarkishan. We'll do that when we continue
- 11:52on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the zone of the
- 11:54iHeartRadio app.
