- 0:00Speaker 1: Somebody specials here. It's just one of those days. There
- 0:06Speaker 1: he is. Are you wearing your sweatshirt that looks like
- 0:10Speaker 1: it has stains, but that's part of the design. Yes,
- 0:14Speaker 1: that's a fling. Are you wearing a necklace made out
- 0:18Speaker 1: of candy? No, this necklace was given to me by
- 0:22Speaker 1: my friend. It's crystals that supposedly are good for your
- 0:25Speaker 1: soul and your heart. Um and um. You can make
- 0:29Speaker 1: fun of it, but I'm trying to see if it works.
- 0:32Speaker 1: So far, I don't notice anything. I wasn't. I wasn't
- 0:35Speaker 1: making fun of it. Hi, everybody, Hi Joelle, Hi Daniel,
- 0:39Speaker 1: Hi Donald, are you recording right, I've been recording. Let
- 0:43Speaker 1: me do a little test of our sound machine right there.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It is Everything's tank forever, Wu tang forever. Everything's working.
- 0:53Speaker 1: That is true though, Wu tang is forever. That's one
- 0:55Speaker 1: thing that is that is true. Donald's sent me a
- 1:00Speaker 1: meme the other day and I thought of it and
- 1:02Speaker 1: it said something like, why do all of US African
- 1:07Speaker 1: Americans do this? And it was the guy um putting
- 1:13Speaker 1: on a movie, hitting start and then turning around to
- 1:16Speaker 1: go to sleep. The other way. Yeah, an entire vibe
- 1:21Speaker 1: and I and I was doing that myself. I was
- 1:24Speaker 1: like putting on the TV that I knew I wasn't
- 1:26Speaker 1: going to watch and starting something and then getting all
- 1:28Speaker 1: cuddled up and turning the other way to fall asleep.
- 1:31Speaker 1: It wasn't that. It wasn't why do Africans? Why do
- 1:34Speaker 1: black people do it? Is? It was black people do this,
- 1:38Speaker 1: but it doesn't. Also, what it doesn't say is that
- 1:41Speaker 1: a lot of people that aren't black also do it
- 1:44Speaker 1: like white people do it. Do it like the washcloth
- 1:48Speaker 1: thing where it's a stereotypical black thing. No, I think
- 1:51Speaker 1: everybody turned on the TV. Come on, buddy, you know
- 1:56Speaker 1: you know, you know what my wife does it. You're right,
- 1:58Speaker 1: my wife's like, turn next shit off. Please. I'm like,
- 2:02Speaker 1: I'm going to bed and not turn the TV on.
- 2:05Speaker 1: That's just right. My sister just me. She had to
- 2:09Speaker 1: have it going all the time, but her like Home
- 2:11Speaker 1: Shopping Network. What an episode that doesn't make any sense
- 2:17Speaker 1: at all. Donald, I'm happy we have a guest today
- 2:20Speaker 1: to lighten things up a little bit. We are going
- 2:23Speaker 1: to do the show today with a friend of ours
- 2:24Speaker 1: named Brian Klugman, who's very fascinating guy. He well, let's
- 2:28Speaker 1: bring him in and then we'll talk about him and
- 2:30Speaker 1: um and uh, and then he's gonna help us make
- 2:33Speaker 1: this episode that was not that good even better? Right?
- 2:36Speaker 1: I like this episode? No, and I want to talk
- 2:38Speaker 1: to you about why you apparently did I'd laughed once,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I laughed more than once. When did you? Wait? Wait?
- 2:44Speaker 1: When did you laugh? I don't want to ruin it yet.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Let's bring in Brian. Brian is a big Scrubs fan,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and he is a big Scrubs podcast listener. There he
- 2:53Speaker 1: is thunderous, surprise, motherfucking there. He is that every time
- 3:04Speaker 1: I get on a call, every time Brian meet Daniel,
- 3:08Speaker 1: who's our engineer and video game expert, and um, what
- 3:12Speaker 1: else do you do? You edit? You provide fun and laughter.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I appreciate that little buffet lifestyle over here a little bit.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And Joel had to turn off for camera because she's
- 3:22Speaker 1: having some issues, but she's our producer and hello. I
- 3:27Speaker 1: wanted to bring Brian Klugman on because for so many reasons. One,
- 3:29Speaker 1: he's a fan of Scrubs, he's a fan of the podcast,
- 3:33Speaker 1: and he also is a very funny gentleman. I thought
- 3:37Speaker 1: he could help make this episode, which I didn't find
- 3:39Speaker 1: particularly funny, funnier as we discussed it. Although I'm just
- 3:42Speaker 1: learning now, Brian that Donald found it funny. I found
- 3:45Speaker 1: it funny. And the other thing about Brian is, Brian,
- 3:49Speaker 1: had you had such an You have such an interesting career,
- 3:51Speaker 1: unlike anybody else I know you. You not only act
- 3:56Speaker 1: and direct, didn't you? Weren't you Frasier's son? No? I
- 4:01Speaker 1: I was. I was the intern at the radio station
- 4:05Speaker 1: there for a while. I had a long run of
- 4:07Speaker 1: playing real, real dumb characters and one other one of
- 4:12Speaker 1: the what was that character's name on Frasier Kirby Kirby.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I never watched an episode of Frasier, so I wouldn't know,
- 4:18Speaker 1: but I think you had a big sort of jiufro
- 4:20Speaker 1: when you did it right, very very big. Yeah. I
- 4:22Speaker 1: had that for a while. And were you on any
- 4:26Speaker 1: other notable roles people might remember you from an can't
- 4:31Speaker 1: hardly Wait with our friend Donald over there? Yeah? I, um, yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 1: I mean I did a million different things. Uh was
- 4:39Speaker 1: on Felicity when that show started together around the same
- 4:44Speaker 1: time too, yep. And I was up until recently was
- 4:48Speaker 1: doing Bones as kind of one of the interns squinterns
- 4:52Speaker 1: whatever they call them, and had a great time with that.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Brian such an interesting career because not only do you
- 4:58Speaker 1: still act and you directed some films, but you're a
- 5:01Speaker 1: very funny writer. And I'm tom about to tie all
- 5:04Speaker 1: of this in is that Brian will Well. I'd love
- 5:07Speaker 1: you to tell the story of how it happened. But
- 5:10Speaker 1: Brian had a big change of life and became a
- 5:14Speaker 1: very very successful He's kind of Don Draper. And because
- 5:19Speaker 1: Brian loves Scrubs and because Brian loves us, he is
- 5:22Speaker 1: the reason that we landed the T Mobile the Super
- 5:26Speaker 1: Bowl commercial, and he's the one who wrote that fucking hilarious.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Oh I can't take I can't take all the credit
- 5:32Speaker 1: for writing it. I wrote it and created with Andrew Pinney,
- 5:36Speaker 1: who's my partner on this journey, who's an incredible producer.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And then the guys up at T Mobile, my Cats
- 5:43Speaker 1: and Peter de Luca, they're huge fans of you guys.
- 5:46Speaker 1: So it was like it was a kind of a
- 5:49Speaker 1: universal decision. Now, Brian before not to toot our own horns,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but if we can't toot our own horns on our
- 5:54Speaker 1: own podcast this, Yeah, if we can't toot our own horn,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I would say that in meetings, I'm like, not to brag,
- 6:02Speaker 1: but I'm trying to sell myself to you. So if
- 6:04Speaker 1: I can't brag in this meeting, what's the point? Um?
- 6:06Speaker 1: But but Brian, um is it? It's true in fact
- 6:10Speaker 1: that the that your creation and our genius talent um
- 6:14Speaker 1: made it the second most searched for ad after scholar Johansson.
- 6:18Speaker 1: It was it was. It was on fire people and
- 6:21Speaker 1: such universal I mean, it's what you do. I think
- 6:24Speaker 1: we all know when you put something out into the world,
- 6:27Speaker 1: especially in that kind of form, people love to hate,
- 6:31Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I thought, by putting something
- 6:34Speaker 1: out publicly is always a scary and arduous thing. But
- 6:39Speaker 1: you guys, it was so you guys were so universally
- 6:42Speaker 1: loved and it was so warm. I think it was
- 6:44Speaker 1: just incredible to see that reception. And you know, I know,
- 6:47Speaker 1: you guys we were talking after the game, like to
- 6:49Speaker 1: watch it just continue and to pick up steam. And
- 6:53Speaker 1: you know, there was no lead time on any of that.
- 6:57Speaker 1: You know, there was no lead time. We didn't like
- 6:59Speaker 1: pre release anything. It just it hit and it was
- 7:02Speaker 1: a nun We had so much fun that day, Brian,
- 7:05Speaker 1: because it truly is me and Donald's dream, Like if
- 7:08Speaker 1: we could fantasize, like in a Scrubs fantasy, it would
- 7:10Speaker 1: be that we live next door to each other and
- 7:12Speaker 1: sing pretty close. At one point we were pretty close,
- 7:16Speaker 1: we were I'm saying, like I I well, I think
- 7:18Speaker 1: I told the story in the podcast, but like, if
- 7:20Speaker 1: I had my dream, I would go on my front
- 7:21Speaker 1: porch and have my morning coffee and look over and
- 7:24Speaker 1: see Donald probably smoking a blunt and and just be
- 7:26Speaker 1: like morning hits. You want to us sing something from
- 7:31Speaker 1: sound to music or this is what I've this is
- 7:33Speaker 1: what I've learned. But this is what I've learned. Bong
- 7:36Speaker 1: hits are so much faster than smoking a blunt. It
- 7:40Speaker 1: took you forty eight years to realize that Brian has
- 7:44Speaker 1: a brand new baby. By the way, um, that is
- 7:46Speaker 1: very beautiful, and Brian, your life is so good. And
- 7:49Speaker 1: also I just want to say that you're a beautiful wife.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Beautiful wife, beautiful wife who's so cool and smart and
- 7:55Speaker 1: has as a singer, and and you're such a mensch
- 7:59Speaker 1: who If you don't know that expression, I believe it's
- 8:03Speaker 1: German for Man. Brian you would know, but it's it's Yiddish.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yiddish yeah, but it just means just a just a sweet,
- 8:12Speaker 1: really sweet human being. And I'm sorry to be sincere, audience,
- 8:15Speaker 1: but you really are just a lovely person and I'm
- 8:17Speaker 1: glad that we're friends. Wow that I feel exactly the
- 8:20Speaker 1: same way. It's funny you said the word mench when
- 8:22Speaker 1: I when I first moved out to la you know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: leaving my family, leaving so far. I said to my mom,
- 8:28Speaker 1: you know, I was getting to the plane and said,
- 8:30Speaker 1: anything you need to tell me. Last thing she says
- 8:32Speaker 1: is I get on. She goes, if you ever meet
- 8:34Speaker 1: Steven Spielberg, tell him he's a mench. That was Ian
- 8:39Speaker 1: had the opportunity yet not yet, not yet, but uh,
- 8:44Speaker 1: we can probably count into the show. We forgot to
- 8:45Speaker 1: do that about show we made never get around, yeato around.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Welcome to the show. So Brian, real quick before we
- 9:14Speaker 1: get into talking about the episode, which I thought was
- 9:16Speaker 1: really weird and I didn't laugh that much, but I'm
- 9:18Speaker 1: glad you you did, so you can set me straight.
- 9:19Speaker 1: The fuck what do you hold on? I have? I
- 9:23Speaker 1: have really because this had some pretty funny moments in it,
- 9:27Speaker 1: and to think that you didn't laugh at this shit,
- 9:30Speaker 1: So you know, sometimes it's your mood. I'm not in
- 9:32Speaker 1: a bad mood, but sometimes it is one's mood that
- 9:36Speaker 1: that affects how you watched the episode. Maybe maybe I'm
- 9:38Speaker 1: not in wasn't in a particularly giggly mood. Can I
- 9:42Speaker 1: go down to listen? Let's see if you laugh, you're
- 9:44Speaker 1: gonna you can't waste it. But I will tell you
- 9:45Speaker 1: the one thing I laughed at when kelsos as you
- 9:50Speaker 1: call Al Green because he forgot Skids tickets. It took you.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It took you all the way to the end of
- 9:57Speaker 1: the show to laugh. Dude, hold on, hey, no, no,
- 10:00Speaker 1: because you can't. We're gonna go through the show. You
- 10:02Speaker 1: can just list the things he's trying to start at
- 10:04Speaker 1: the beginning. I'm gonna start to get the cold open.
- 10:07Speaker 1: You didn't laugh at the fact that Ted has a
- 10:09Speaker 1: granny fetish. Yeah, but it's weirder than that. It's not
- 10:17Speaker 1: just a granny fetish. He's he's kind of into his mom. Yes,
- 10:21Speaker 1: it's a mom granny fetish. It's it's it's trippy. I
- 10:25Speaker 1: really liked it though, too. It took me completely by
- 10:28Speaker 1: surprise because it kind of a revealed itself like a
- 10:32Speaker 1: little bit at a time, you know. And at first
- 10:34Speaker 1: he's eyeing the granny. Yeah, okay, he won. And then
- 10:37Speaker 1: you're like is he why is he? And then he
- 10:38Speaker 1: kind of does a thing where he tries to touch her,
- 10:41Speaker 1: like like she's hot. He does a thing with his finger,
- 10:44Speaker 1: and then and then later he brags about having seen
- 10:47Speaker 1: his mom have sex. Yes with a man. Yes, yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 1: a man, Yes with the man. Okay, So let's just
- 10:57Speaker 1: start as a point of pride for for him and
- 10:59Speaker 1: the things with a man. The show is called Road
- 11:02Speaker 1: to Nowhere. It was written and directed by Mark Stegman.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Mark was a very funny writer on our show, and
- 11:07Speaker 1: I think this is the first time, other than Bill,
- 11:10Speaker 1: a writer on the show was given the privilege of
- 11:13Speaker 1: directing an episode. Um JD lives in a tent on
- 11:19Speaker 1: his half acre. Um that half acre, making it back
- 11:22Speaker 1: to this show half Acre's facts, and he still own
- 11:26Speaker 1: that shit. He still owns that ship. Yes, I bought
- 11:28Speaker 1: it with Manny Moore. I wonder if I bought her out.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I must have bought her out of her she ain't
- 11:32Speaker 1: around no more. He wants to split it, but um,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm stealing power from the next door neighbors. And you
- 11:39Speaker 1: didn't laugh at that. Well, I didn't laugh at the
- 11:41Speaker 1: fact that you were stealing power from the next door neighbor, didn't.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Yeah you did, Yeah you did. Party laughed that I
- 11:48Speaker 1: sounded that. It sounded like they were having sex like
- 11:50Speaker 1: a baboon and the guys like I wasn't home last night. Yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I mean I like that you brutalize him, and she
- 11:58Speaker 1: was like a stunt woman she was, Yeah, for sure.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I don't remember much about this episode except there are
- 12:03Speaker 1: a few key things, and I think I remember her
- 12:04Speaker 1: being like she was almost like an MMA fighter. She
- 12:07Speaker 1: was big. Why did she beat your ass? And and
- 12:11Speaker 1: for telling on? And why did he stand there and watch?
- 12:15Speaker 1: Why wasn't automatically Why wasn't it automatically? Baby? I don't
- 12:20Speaker 1: know what the heck fuck he's talking about. Why didn't
- 12:22Speaker 1: it go to their Why was it killing the messenger? Yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 1: I'm caught. I'm ana fuck him up for that. And
- 12:32Speaker 1: he stands there, and he stands there and watches, But
- 12:35Speaker 1: we don't know. They have a weird sex life. So
- 12:37Speaker 1: I don't mean to say weird. They have a unique
- 12:39Speaker 1: sex life. So they have their sex life. Yes, I
- 12:43Speaker 1: have to beat some PC these days, Brian. They have
- 12:45Speaker 1: their sex life, right, Joel, there's nothing odd about it.
- 12:48Speaker 1: They have their sex life. They have their choices, is
- 12:51Speaker 1: that right. Never we need to whenever we need to
- 12:54Speaker 1: say sex things correctly, we go to our verbal specialist, Joel.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It's not weird. It's just their choices. Yeah. Yeah. Also,
- 13:05Speaker 1: don't cheat on your spouse, you know, and you got
- 13:08Speaker 1: you gotta be like cooler than whatever she was trying
- 13:10Speaker 1: to pull off, because it was her that was doing
- 13:12Speaker 1: the cheating, right yeah, and she got caught and beat
- 13:16Speaker 1: up j D for it. Right, should have been like,
- 13:21Speaker 1: that's it, I'm out. I knew it all. I knew
- 13:23Speaker 1: it all along. He should have bounced. Okay, So this
- 13:27Speaker 1: is that he watched his wife beat the shit out
- 13:29Speaker 1: of another man. Maybe maybe that they may be. They
- 13:37Speaker 1: may be like our couple friends beyond on the show,
- 13:40Speaker 1: have some sort of arrangement. I don't think he likes it.
- 13:44Speaker 1: He didn't see. He didn't seem to like it. Think
- 13:46Speaker 1: he likes it. I know you you brutalized. Um as
- 13:53Speaker 1: we know. UM this is the RV episode. UM A
- 13:56Speaker 1: very weird thing, right, It's almost like I like the RV.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I liked the the idea of the RV. I was wondering,
- 14:04Speaker 1: what the fuck is Kelso? That was the first question
- 14:07Speaker 1: I asked, why is Kelso introducing his camper, like what
- 14:10Speaker 1: is the well? I love RVs. I want to mention
- 14:13Speaker 1: as a kid, we used to take r V trips
- 14:15Speaker 1: and my father always always would get ones that would
- 14:18Speaker 1: break down. He was always he wouldn't spring for a
- 14:23Speaker 1: good one and uh and they and it was so humiliating.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I remember, without fail, they would break down and we'd
- 14:30Speaker 1: always be in the shop, and for some reason he
- 14:33Speaker 1: would he would always go back to the same company.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I think he was. My father was a very loyal man.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And even though even though he would go to the
- 14:41Speaker 1: shop that would rent us piece of shit RVs that
- 14:43Speaker 1: would break down, he would go to the same one
- 14:45Speaker 1: every year. And I can remember be like stuck in
- 14:48Speaker 1: like a toll booth, like everyone honking, like I always
- 14:56Speaker 1: loved RVs. I always grew up and and to this day,
- 14:59Speaker 1: I even during the pandemic, like so many people, I
- 15:02Speaker 1: think after maybe Nomad Land inspired it or something. But
- 15:05Speaker 1: then I went down the wormhole of like tricked out
- 15:07Speaker 1: sprinter vans. Those things are insane to this day. My
- 15:12Speaker 1: Instagram is is like seventy percent tricked out couples who
- 15:17Speaker 1: have tricked out their sprinter vans and like live on
- 15:20Speaker 1: the road. I so cool. But these guys had a
- 15:24Speaker 1: freaking bus. Yeah, these guys had a monster RV. This
- 15:28Speaker 1: thing is huge in the back and it has a
- 15:33Speaker 1: rack of kimonos that are used for Kelso's masseuses. Yes, okay,
- 15:40Speaker 1: we need to discuss this because we kind of touched
- 15:43Speaker 1: on it before, but we didn't. Yo. There's a lot
- 15:47Speaker 1: of shit in this that's kind of like, I mean, nowadays,
- 15:49Speaker 1: it's kind of like, hmmm, a lot of questionable. Well.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Joelle mentioned that there is in the Asian community discussion
- 15:58Speaker 1: of being fetishized as right, the female um, female Asian
- 16:05Speaker 1: women's well, the Asian community as a whole, sick and
- 16:09Speaker 1: tired of it being a joke. And this was something
- 16:13Speaker 1: that was a recurring joke with Kelso. But at the
- 16:16Speaker 1: same time, and I'm not defending that at all, but
- 16:19Speaker 1: but but can't you Joel answered this for me. Can't
- 16:22Speaker 1: you also have a character that his thing is that
- 16:25Speaker 1: he's attracted to um Vietnamese Asian women. Yeah, I would
- 16:32Speaker 1: hope that, Like, I mean, it kimonos are not Vietnamese
- 16:35Speaker 1: or Japanese, so that's like iffy, And I think I
- 16:40Speaker 1: think it's okay as long as you're like that guy's
- 16:42Speaker 1: an effing asshole, and also as so long as it's
- 16:46Speaker 1: not like a prolonged joke like in um licorice Pizza,
- 16:51Speaker 1: which recently got a lot of flak from the Asian
- 16:53Speaker 1: community for having weird dialogue about that. It was a
- 16:57Speaker 1: very weird term, which is such a weird choice, like
- 17:00Speaker 1: like when did you write this eighty seven? Yeah? Yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 1: So I think, yeah, Kelso is firmly in that camp.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I think most people look down at Kelso. We've seen
- 17:11Speaker 1: him be a slack writer's job and it's not a
- 17:13Speaker 1: celebrated thing. And I it was offensive. I mean, did
- 17:16Speaker 1: you did you? Did you? Joel? I don't want to
- 17:19Speaker 1: it's hard for me to tip to around this because
- 17:21Speaker 1: I don't I can't speak for the Asian community. But
- 17:23Speaker 1: when we last week and we talked about the officer
- 17:26Speaker 1: and a gentleman thing that wasn't even in the Vietnamese,
- 17:29Speaker 1: that wasn't even Vietnamese. The song wasn't even sung in Vietnamese.
- 17:32Speaker 1: It wasn't no what was it Sunging. I don't know,
- 17:35Speaker 1: but somebody DM ME was like, yo, that wasn't Vietnamese. Yeah,
- 17:41Speaker 1: that was like the Mandarin conversation from it was the
- 17:45Speaker 1: Moon Night. That's happening too. We gotta do better by
- 17:48Speaker 1: the Asian community as a whole. Oh, I didn't know that.
- 17:51Speaker 1: That's horrible that it wasn't even in Vietnamese. They probably
- 17:54Speaker 1: just found an Asian version of the song and played it,
- 17:58Speaker 1: lapped it in there, yeah, and played it. It's horrible. Well,
- 18:03Speaker 1: it's not our fault. We didn't create the damn thing.
- 18:05Speaker 1: We just acted it. Um Anyway, it is a true
- 18:08Speaker 1: fact that Kelso is attracted to Asian women. Whether that's
- 18:11Speaker 1: um appropriate or not these days, Uh, we we're just
- 18:15Speaker 1: we're reviewing an old show. It is funny when everyone
- 18:19Speaker 1: is wearing them for warmths later, right, I like that.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I like a couple of the runners on the show.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I kind of like the idea of changing like the
- 18:28Speaker 1: word wrong to Dorian right at the beginning. I think
- 18:30Speaker 1: there's I think there's fun I had a desire at
- 18:33Speaker 1: one point to try to get the word Sigourney weaver
- 18:36Speaker 1: to be like an expression like Sigourney weaver. That's good coffee,
- 18:39Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So, so I like replacing
- 18:46Speaker 1: words with words that we choose. I think there's something
- 18:49Speaker 1: fun about how about JD chetches on right away? And
- 18:51Speaker 1: yeah it's kind of surprised, and how did that catch
- 18:55Speaker 1: on so quickly? And and something else jumped out at me,
- 18:58Speaker 1: like when you guys, I love I love the Michael
- 19:02Speaker 1: Knight beata. It was fucking hilarious. Yeah, I don't know.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I've spoken a lot about our love for night Riders,
- 19:09Speaker 1: so the Little night Rider Fantasy wasn't. But then then,
- 19:14Speaker 1: but Kit, the version of Kit the Computer and our
- 19:17Speaker 1: show tried to kind of like hook up with got
- 19:20Speaker 1: a little dirty dirty, which I think is funny. And
- 19:23Speaker 1: I liked they got you in the leather jacket and
- 19:26Speaker 1: everything in that little fantasy sequence. I was I was
- 19:28Speaker 1: all in on that man, because that was That's really
- 19:31Speaker 1: true about that though, hold on, hold on now, brag wow, wow,
- 19:37Speaker 1: that really went different. That's true though. Think about it.
- 19:41Speaker 1: When Kit would get beat up, Kit would be like,
- 19:44Speaker 1: oh that shit hurts. Oh fuck, I'm hurt. He would well,
- 19:48Speaker 1: you know, it would be like Michael no, yeah, you
- 19:51Speaker 1: know that was always sad. Yeah, got hurt. So how
- 19:57Speaker 1: come when Kit got touched in a nice way, holcome,
- 20:00Speaker 1: Kit couldn't be like, oh shit, Michael. He was. He
- 20:03Speaker 1: was like that, Michael. Why didn't that? Why didn't why
- 20:08Speaker 1: didn't that happen? That would be we didn't bring something
- 20:13Speaker 1: that wasn't programmed into Kit in the foundation of law, Governor.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Maybe I wasn't hitting the right spot. I should have
- 20:18Speaker 1: been yanking on the tailpipe. That could be it. I'm
- 20:21Speaker 1: gonna fall with the banana and the tailpipe, not gonna
- 20:23Speaker 1: fall for the banana. The tail um. Take these here,
- 20:26Speaker 1: Take these bananas. Take these bananasana, Go ahead, the buffet.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I have peaches plums. One of the reasons I love
- 20:39Speaker 1: hanging out with Brian is he will You can name
- 20:41Speaker 1: any movie reference and it He'll pick it up and
- 20:43Speaker 1: start running with it. Um. All right, listen, let's make
- 20:48Speaker 1: try so we The RVs introduced Kim's having an ultrasound.
- 20:54Speaker 1: For those of you haven't watched the episode of Road
- 20:56Speaker 1: to Nowhere, Jad's missed so so so is what in
- 21:00Speaker 1: Jordan's happening also having an ultrasound. And they decide they're
- 21:04Speaker 1: gonna take They're gonna steal Kelsel's RV they're gonna bring
- 21:07Speaker 1: rowdy and they're gonna do a road trip to Tacoma.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Cox sabotagees Turk because Turk told Jordan that Cox told
- 21:19Speaker 1: him that they liked to cuddle, right, want anyone to
- 21:23Speaker 1: know that she likes to cuddle. She got livid. So
- 21:25Speaker 1: Cox screwed over Turk, and Carlo said, I'm going on
- 21:29Speaker 1: the road trip right instead makes it so Carlo's like,
- 21:32Speaker 1: I gotta get give the baby to Turk. I'm going
- 21:34Speaker 1: on the d I mean I didn't, I thought, I thought,
- 21:37Speaker 1: I thought. I know that obviously the writers wanted to
- 21:39Speaker 1: give Cox and Turk's storyline together, but I think the
- 21:43Speaker 1: road trip would have been funnier to have Turk on
- 21:45Speaker 1: the road trip, absolutely. I mean Turks and a kimono
- 21:49Speaker 1: on the on the on the on the dancer pole
- 21:51Speaker 1: was a missed opportunity. Well, I learned another thing about
- 21:55Speaker 1: Turk and Carlo. Though they do some freaky shit. I mean,
- 21:58Speaker 1: she's got she's from one, very very flexible and very
- 22:02Speaker 1: very bendy. Yeah, and j knows the name of the
- 22:05Speaker 1: of the of the day because that was funny. So
- 22:12Speaker 1: you know that you know that Turk is like yo
- 22:14Speaker 1: can we practice some of these moves that you seem
- 22:16Speaker 1: to know from back in the day. Did you ever
- 22:19Speaker 1: question that Carla wasn't naughty in bed? Carla feels like
- 22:22Speaker 1: she's naughty in bed. I feel like Turk appreciates the
- 22:25Speaker 1: naughtiness that Carla is in bed. Yeah, I don't. I
- 22:27Speaker 1: never thought that Carla the character was just um oh no, no, no,
- 22:32Speaker 1: there's no way. Nobody's just one thing. Zach, Yes, but
- 22:36Speaker 1: I think Carla, in my estimation, is probably fun in bed.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I bet you Turk is too, though. Yeah, but we
- 22:45Speaker 1: learned that Turk falls asleep right after he finishes. It
- 22:48Speaker 1: doesn't matter. None of these none of these things tracked.
- 22:51Speaker 1: None of the stuff tracks. None of none of the
- 22:54Speaker 1: none of these storylines track. They're all jokes, kind of
- 22:56Speaker 1: like Family Guy in a lot of ways, where it's
- 22:58Speaker 1: funny at the moment and then the next you know,
- 23:00Speaker 1: it's it's something different. By the way, Donald, I know
- 23:04Speaker 1: you don't watch TV that's not Star Wars. But Brian,
- 23:06Speaker 1: are you watching um the Great at all? With uh?
- 23:10Speaker 1: I watched the first season and I want to watch
- 23:12Speaker 1: more and it it is so good. It's so late
- 23:15Speaker 1: to the party on the show me too. I'm way behind.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I'll tell your wife because she'll love it. She likes
- 23:23Speaker 1: TV shows that aren't about star wars um and Joelle, Joelle,
- 23:26Speaker 1: you love it. Yes, Imagine if like Season one of
- 23:31Speaker 1: Bridgerton was more focused on like a power couple, and
- 23:36Speaker 1: that power couple hated each other. It's that sort of
- 23:39Speaker 1: vibe like sometimes it's kind of steamy, it's I also
- 23:43Speaker 1: love that it's sop thing. Yeah, it's so it's so edgy.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I think and like X and and and and it's
- 23:50Speaker 1: so so falling asleep right now this Okay, T give
- 23:59Speaker 1: a system tank forever, wo tank forever. All right, he's back,
- 24:04Speaker 1: he's back, all I go on, all right, anyway, I
- 24:08Speaker 1: recommend you all. It's on Hulu and Nicholas Holds, who
- 24:11Speaker 1: the hell knew? He was so funny. He's fucking hilarious.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Yeah you should get a hussah as a drop, I think, yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 1: drop for you, ok yeah, um, okay, So they steal
- 24:23Speaker 1: counsel's RV. Ted comes back to talk to them while
- 24:26Speaker 1: he's supposed to be driving. I thought that was that
- 24:28Speaker 1: was very funny. Who's driving the RV? Oh my bad?
- 24:34Speaker 1: That was funny. Okay, Elliott is confiding in someone, and
- 24:37Speaker 1: then we that her father Um did hug her in fact,
- 24:40Speaker 1: but not with his arms, with his mind. Yes, And
- 24:44Speaker 1: we learned and we revealed that she's confiding that in Rowdy,
- 24:49Speaker 1: we revealed, as we said, we learned that Ted has
- 24:51Speaker 1: watched his mom have sex. Then the janitor were has
- 24:56Speaker 1: been a sewere and he steps out of the RV,
- 25:00Speaker 1: not knowing it's moving, and when he falls out, he
- 25:04Speaker 1: hurts his head and doesn't remember that he has. You
- 25:08Speaker 1: guys didn't check the back into RV to see if
- 25:11Speaker 1: anybody was in there. So we were, but we were
- 25:13Speaker 1: in the first of all, this RV is not that big.
- 25:16Speaker 1: We were back there doing the pole dancing. Right, there's
- 25:22Speaker 1: not multiple bedrooms in this RV. He could have been
- 25:25Speaker 1: sleeping under the bed I mean there's a lot of
- 25:29Speaker 1: He's a very large man. Neil Flynn, I don't know
- 25:31Speaker 1: where the geography of where he was that he missed
- 25:34Speaker 1: us back there pole dancing, I don't know or that
- 25:38Speaker 1: you missed him. Anyway, he walks out, he hits his head,
- 25:42Speaker 1: and then he we stopped and he forgets that he
- 25:47Speaker 1: knows that he knows any of them, right, But also,
- 25:51Speaker 1: for the first time in the show's history, he's kind
- 25:54Speaker 1: to JD. Not only is he kind to j D,
- 25:57Speaker 1: he's very passionate about JD's quest that wants to join
- 26:01Speaker 1: him on it, and at the act break the JD
- 26:08Speaker 1: thinks he can make it through a tunnel. I remember
- 26:10Speaker 1: when we shot this that it was you didn't laugh
- 26:14Speaker 1: at this, You didn't I could totally make it into
- 26:19Speaker 1: the black. Yeah, that was funny. I remember that we
- 26:25Speaker 1: didn't do it green screen because we did a rear
- 26:27Speaker 1: projection and and it actually looks better than I think
- 26:30Speaker 1: green screen would have because green screen and cars still
- 26:33Speaker 1: to this day does not look good for some bizarre reason.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I also like the choice that it was not big
- 26:41Speaker 1: enough with wise as opposed to height wise, which is
- 26:45Speaker 1: kind of like the obvious choice, Like you know, you
- 26:47Speaker 1: get the RVA haircutt and all of a sudden, No,
- 26:50Speaker 1: I like that you took the side. Yeah, I thought
- 26:53Speaker 1: that was funny. I thought that was a funny choice.
- 26:55Speaker 1: They bought V I remember, I remember that they bought
- 26:58Speaker 1: the RV because they had to destroy it. He just
- 27:00Speaker 1: bought like a really like the cheapest RV you could
- 27:02Speaker 1: buy um and then ripped the side off of it.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Do you remember you weren't there? You weren't there. But anyway,
- 27:11Speaker 1: for those of you film geeks, it's it's not green screen,
- 27:14Speaker 1: it's rear projection. They're projecting the road onto screens the
- 27:18Speaker 1: old school style away and I didn't take a look
- 27:20Speaker 1: that bad for what it's worth. So then then we're
- 27:23Speaker 1: all wearing kimonos to stay warm. Now I want to
- 27:29Speaker 1: talk a bit about what's happening back at the hospital. So, uh,
- 27:32Speaker 1: there's a scary um thing with with Jordan's ultrasound. Yeah, no, no,
- 27:38Speaker 1: but Cox, why does he want you in the room?
- 27:41Speaker 1: He doesn't, He doesn't seem to because he's not allowed.
- 27:44Speaker 1: He's not allowed in the room because he's family. Even
- 27:46Speaker 1: though he works at the hospital, he's not allowed in
- 27:48Speaker 1: the room. But he wants Turk in the room to
- 27:51Speaker 1: make sure that everything goes well with the surgery. As
- 27:56Speaker 1: far as his wife is concerned. He's already made up
- 27:59Speaker 1: his mind, seems like that, oh, this means the baby's
- 28:02Speaker 1: going to have problems, now, you know what I mean?
- 28:05Speaker 1: Right and so, But but he's never really respected you
- 28:08Speaker 1: as a surgeon. And even though audience, yeah, you think
- 28:14Speaker 1: he's just being a dick. Yeah, I think you know,
- 28:16Speaker 1: I think, well, I think this is telling about that.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I think he does. I mean, this is the most
- 28:21Speaker 1: intimate kind of thing. And he's like, I want you
- 28:23Speaker 1: in there. And that's about as hard truth as there
- 28:26Speaker 1: is right there, right, because he could ask doctor, when
- 28:29Speaker 1: he could ask so many other people to be in there, right,
- 28:32Speaker 1: instead he asks he does hell ask Beard for say,
- 28:36Speaker 1: to turn his foot at the right angle so he
- 28:38Speaker 1: can bowl your cell phone down. Though you didn't like that,
- 28:41Speaker 1: you didn't like that cell phone toss off the foot,
- 28:45Speaker 1: she was hilarious. Yeah, and then you didn't like the
- 28:47Speaker 1: mickhead coming down the hallway with the cell phone. Mickhead
- 28:51Speaker 1: tried to steal your phone, right, But then you're summing around,
- 28:55Speaker 1: You're coming around. You guys are convincing me was funny
- 28:57Speaker 1: than it was. But do you remember when I like,
- 28:59Speaker 1: I did like and you go, um, oh, really do
- 29:02Speaker 1: you have do you have Carlo on your phone? He's like,
- 29:03Speaker 1: uh yeah, you're like, oh I haveond I got Tyra Banks,
- 29:07Speaker 1: Tyra Banks, Star Banks. Before Beyonce, it was Tarra Banks.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Halie Berry is still up in there, though Hallie Berry
- 29:13Speaker 1: is still up in there. Were you able to um
- 29:19Speaker 1: to pick which beautiful woman um Donald or was it
- 29:22Speaker 1: written into the script that it was Tyra Banks? Tyra,
- 29:24Speaker 1: I mean Tyra Banks after Chris Rock said her name
- 29:28Speaker 1: as little Penny Tara Banks. It's probably the funniest name
- 29:34Speaker 1: to say. And so just so if you mean, because
- 29:39Speaker 1: it's a unique name and she's so beautiful. It was
- 29:42Speaker 1: a good punchline. Absolutely, And it's got the it's got
- 29:46Speaker 1: the classic, it's got the hard see the hardy comedy
- 29:49Speaker 1: writers like like Plugman love a hard k sound. Yeah,
- 29:54Speaker 1: you know, tom tomatoes not funny, Banks, Chicken funny. Chicken's funny.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Tomato's not funny. Everybody, you're getting out right, those of
- 30:02Speaker 1: you write comedy, aspiring comedy writers. You're from one of
- 30:05Speaker 1: the top uh advertising creatives in the country. Right now
- 30:09Speaker 1: you're getting a secret Tomato not funny. But don't don't
- 30:14Speaker 1: let that out. Don't let it out. Okay, now it's out, Bunny.
- 30:17Speaker 1: You know everybody knows an now you're ruined. Everybody case
- 30:22Speaker 1: sound it's funny. A little bit of trivia for you. Brian.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I hope I can reveal this, Brian. If not, we'll
- 30:27Speaker 1: cut it. But Brian is the voice of of T Mobile.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Whenever you hear all of those T Mobile ads, it's Brian,
- 30:34Speaker 1: A lot of them, a lot of them. Yeah, I
- 30:37Speaker 1: hear you all the time when my TV's on. I
- 30:39Speaker 1: hear you like T Mobile, and I hope it brings
- 30:42Speaker 1: comfort to you. It does a lot of you know what,
- 30:46Speaker 1: we should bring this up too, so you know everybody
- 30:48Speaker 1: loves to talk about my uh Neil Diamond, and yes, yes,
- 30:54Speaker 1: bring this up. Brian's Neil Diamond impersonation is twenty times
- 31:00Speaker 1: like if you want to talk about another level, his
- 31:03Speaker 1: level is like, it's like twenty levels above my Neil Diamond.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Don't know. Let me just give, Let me just give.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I would give them my Neil Diamond. Do the same sentence,
- 31:11Speaker 1: Do the same sentence. What are we going with? Can
- 31:14Speaker 1: we sing the Transformers? Oh? You want to do a
- 31:17Speaker 1: non Neil Diamond song as Neil Diamond, Donald, you go first,
- 31:20Speaker 1: because everyone's heard this the Transformers more than meets the eye.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Here we go, same sentence. Whatever you want to do
- 31:34Speaker 1: Transformers more than meets the eye. I'm a little stuffy today,
- 31:47Speaker 1: you're a little reover rusty. But Brian, we briefly tell
- 31:49Speaker 1: the audience, um that you. Brian is so in the
- 31:53Speaker 1: Neil Diamond that he as a hobby, not as a
- 31:57Speaker 1: money making venture, puts on full well Neil Diamond concerts
- 32:03Speaker 1: And I'm my biggest fear of my whole life has
- 32:08Speaker 1: been to sing in front of an audience. Right. And
- 32:12Speaker 1: about fifteen years back, a friend of mine says, when
- 32:16Speaker 1: you sing, you sound like Neil Diamond, and I said,
- 32:19Speaker 1: I know. My whole life, I've been told that. And
- 32:22Speaker 1: he says, you should do a show. And I said, okay, great,
- 32:24Speaker 1: you put a band together and I'll do a show,
- 32:26Speaker 1: because who the hell is going to put a band together?
- 32:29Speaker 1: You know what I mean. Next day he calls me,
- 32:31Speaker 1: he says, We're booked a hotel cafe. I've got a
- 32:34Speaker 1: huge I got a huge band for you. And I
- 32:37Speaker 1: was like, oh well, I said I was going to
- 32:38Speaker 1: do it. And I was so nervous that I actually
- 32:41Speaker 1: peed in my pants on the night of the show.
- 32:44Speaker 1: I was really I thought people just did that in
- 32:46Speaker 1: the movies. They really know. It was crazy. I never
- 32:48Speaker 1: thought it would happen, and it happened. And how wait,
- 32:52Speaker 1: how did people spot like in the movies? No, No,
- 32:55Speaker 1: it's before right, before I went on, and I changed
- 32:58Speaker 1: my pants before I went on, but they were still tight,
- 33:00Speaker 1: like Neil Diamond's very very like a second skin. And
- 33:03Speaker 1: then I went out there and I did it, and
- 33:05Speaker 1: now I've done it. I did it like every five years,
- 33:08Speaker 1: and I have a huge band and incredible group, and
- 33:12Speaker 1: it's it's like a weird cross between I don't know,
- 33:15Speaker 1: it's a kind of like a performance art or something,
- 33:18Speaker 1: and but do you sing? But you do sing well
- 33:21Speaker 1: as Neil Diamonds, so it's kind of like a Neil Diamond. Yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, it's weird. It's like somehow a cross
- 33:28Speaker 1: between performance art and a real show. But everyone seems
- 33:30Speaker 1: to have a really good time. They've all been sold out,
- 33:33Speaker 1: and like, I mean, it's so bizarre. I know you're
- 33:37Speaker 1: very busy with your career and your new baby, but
- 33:39Speaker 1: why haven't I been able to see well to go
- 33:42Speaker 1: to the next one? Got up? Can Donald come up
- 33:45Speaker 1: with the next one and do Transformers? I don't want
- 33:47Speaker 1: to do transform but I'm want to do love on
- 33:49Speaker 1: the Racks. I'll tell you what. I want to come
- 33:52Speaker 1: up and do Wickhount and do America. And then it
- 33:56Speaker 1: sounds like I don't have to do anything, which is great.
- 33:58Speaker 1: I want to do a duet, Donald, but can you
- 34:04Speaker 1: you and I could do you don't bring me flowers
- 34:06Speaker 1: and we both diamond singing to each other. Who sings
- 34:09Speaker 1: the female part? Streisan? But you could take her down?
- 34:12Speaker 1: I can't. Yeah, no, you do it as diamond, Papa.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Can you hear me? It's oh no, no no. But
- 34:20Speaker 1: that's another idea. Another idea would be to do a
- 34:22Speaker 1: Yental cover. Yeah, I was gonna say a Knight of
- 34:25Speaker 1: Yental a night Oh my god, Brian, will you help
- 34:29Speaker 1: me produce? Can we call it a night of a
- 34:33Speaker 1: thousand Yentals? Oh my god, Donald, if you and I
- 34:36Speaker 1: did a Knight of Yental, we would sell the fuck out.
- 34:40Speaker 1: We wouldn't need we didn't need a hotel cafe. We'd
- 34:42Speaker 1: need we'd need the what do you call the Hollywood Bowl.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Oh my god, people are clamoring for this. I can
- 34:47Speaker 1: you know, Oh boy, oh boy, coming, it's coming. Yental
- 34:51Speaker 1: was such a like my father's wet dream. It was
- 34:55Speaker 1: like it was so Jewish, and it was Barbara streisand
- 34:59Speaker 1: and it was a mute was the goal, and it
- 35:00Speaker 1: was about a rabbi. It was about someone whose desire
- 35:03Speaker 1: to be a rabbi was so strong that she had
- 35:05Speaker 1: to hide her sex to be to be to be
- 35:08Speaker 1: a rabbi. And my father was like, this is the
- 35:10Speaker 1: greatest movie you ever ever made. It's got everything anything
- 35:13Speaker 1: I could ever want. The last time you've watched gentle guys,
- 35:16Speaker 1: I don't know, but my father made us watch it
- 35:18Speaker 1: four thousand times. Can you hear me? By the way,
- 35:21Speaker 1: brilliant Manny Patinkin, Mandy Petenkin, that's right, amazing. Watch it.
- 35:25Speaker 1: That's how a Yental watch party. That's what we should do. Sure,
- 35:29Speaker 1: movies like that that people have forgotten about. What such
- 35:32Speaker 1: you stars never watch Gental? I don't know. I think
- 35:37Speaker 1: you should. Well, you're gonna need to watch it when
- 35:39Speaker 1: you prepare for the show. I would imagine for your
- 35:41Speaker 1: Yental extravaganza. So yeah, at the Hollywood Bowl. I would
- 35:45Speaker 1: love it if the Hollywood Bowl, If anyone works for
- 35:47Speaker 1: the Hollywood Bowl and wants the host, Donald and I
- 35:49Speaker 1: perform Yental and we do all the parts. I see
- 35:54Speaker 1: that as something that's gonna happen, not just something we're talking.
- 35:58Speaker 1: And what do you think we should do? The running
- 36:00Speaker 1: out of episodes we're running out of episodes of Scrubs. Um,
- 36:03Speaker 1: what do you do when you run out of episodes?
- 36:05Speaker 1: We have, but we have a very large fan base
- 36:07Speaker 1: all over the world, and you're a very creative guy.
- 36:09Speaker 1: There's been I think you guys are really good at
- 36:12Speaker 1: analyzing films and all kinds of content. Why wouldn't you
- 36:17Speaker 1: just say, Hey, today we're gonna pick we're gonna talk
- 36:21Speaker 1: about Today, we're gonna talk about Gentle Yeah, exactly. So
- 36:25Speaker 1: that would be so great to talk about movies like that. Yeah,
- 36:28Speaker 1: you know what I mean, like to talk about movies
- 36:30Speaker 1: that you know, maybe lot a lot of people haven't seen.
- 36:33Speaker 1: We have a very young audience also to introduce them
- 36:35Speaker 1: to we could bring that. We could surely get someone
- 36:39Speaker 1: relevant to the film to come on. Stan would totally
- 36:46Speaker 1: do the Like if we do Beverly Hill's Cop. We
- 36:48Speaker 1: might not get Eddie, but we might get Rosewood Met
- 36:56Speaker 1: the Past. I think so. I think so. I think
- 36:59Speaker 1: so could probably get Rosewood. Maybe we could get Searge
- 37:02Speaker 1: Bronson Pinchow. If we get Rosewood, we could also ask
- 37:05Speaker 1: him about the Phoebe Kates um most glorious moment in
- 37:08Speaker 1: cinema history. So there you go. That's clearly a way
- 37:11Speaker 1: you could keep. And you could also do a version
- 37:13Speaker 1: where you pick a movie preef beforehand and Donald picks
- 37:16Speaker 1: a movie and then you're like, okay, Ferres Peeler's Day Off?
- 37:20Speaker 1: All right, what is Everybody's seen that movie? I know?
- 37:23Speaker 1: But do you want to do movies? You know? I
- 37:26Speaker 1: think we'll do an occasional obscure one like Gentle and
- 37:29Speaker 1: introduce our fans to the Majesty. You don't have to
- 37:31Speaker 1: figure you don't have to figure it out right now though,
- 37:33Speaker 1: how I figure it out? Back to the show. Should
- 37:35Speaker 1: we take a break? Joel back? Wait, Wait, we're gonna
- 37:39Speaker 1: take a break. We're gonna talk about what a beach
- 37:41Speaker 1: Kim is. When we come back, We'll be right back
- 37:50Speaker 1: back Bay. I mean, Kim is the worst person in
- 37:59Speaker 1: the world. She may be mad. She made me mad. No,
- 38:00Speaker 1: I don't remember hating her. I don't remember hating the
- 38:03Speaker 1: character as much. But this is fucking sinister evil. Yeah.
- 38:06Speaker 1: She even they even go and have conversations about you know,
- 38:10Speaker 1: what it would have been like if they were together
- 38:13Speaker 1: and you know, a pizza. Yeah, yeah, all I mean
- 38:20Speaker 1: she's a sociopath. Yeah, that's that's really I mean, I
- 38:24Speaker 1: wrote down when I was watching, I was like, that's
- 38:26Speaker 1: pretty dark twist at the end there, like I didn't
- 38:31Speaker 1: see it coming at all. I'm like, whoa what I mean?
- 38:34Speaker 1: How could no human being who's not evil or as
- 38:39Speaker 1: a sociopath with no conscience could do this? I think
- 38:44Speaker 1: just a little yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, okay. So I
- 38:50Speaker 1: get what Kim is trying to do in that She's like,
- 38:54Speaker 1: I don't want this person to be with me out
- 38:56Speaker 1: of obligation. I want you to be here for I love.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Where it becomes misguided is g D is like show
- 39:04Speaker 1: genuinely showing up because he wants to be there, right,
- 39:07Speaker 1: he wants to get to know this kid, right, but
- 39:10Speaker 1: not enough to like move to another city this quickly,
- 39:13Speaker 1: because at the end of the conversation, they're basically like,
- 39:16Speaker 1: how but how do you put somebody in that situation?
- 39:21Speaker 1: Right then? And there also it's like, all right, look,
- 39:24Speaker 1: we're not going to have this baby. Maybe in two weeks,
- 39:27Speaker 1: you maybe in a week or something. You discuss it,
- 39:29Speaker 1: but you don't say, okay, so these are the things
- 39:32Speaker 1: I didn't tell you. We're not going to have this baby.
- 39:34Speaker 1: They offered me the job. I'm gonna stay Do you
- 39:37Speaker 1: want to stay with me? How the fuck is he
- 39:39Speaker 1: supposed to say yes to that? Shits? And you don't
- 39:43Speaker 1: have to lie, you don't have to lie. You can
- 39:45Speaker 1: say I'm not sure how this gonna work out? What
- 39:47Speaker 1: is her plan for the rest of eternity. It's a
- 39:51Speaker 1: terrible mistake. I'm sorry I ever disagree with you because
- 39:57Speaker 1: you are a queen. But there's no defense, no defense.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I you know, I don't. I don't understand it. That's
- 40:07Speaker 1: the thing. I just don't understand the miscarriage. Yeah, it's twisted.
- 40:13Speaker 1: So happy and excited and and and they sit on
- 40:17Speaker 1: that bench, and and the actor who played GD was
- 40:20Speaker 1: really good in the scene, and he was amazing, and
- 40:23Speaker 1: he saw how heartbroken he was. Yeah, and that woman
- 40:27Speaker 1: had the audacity did not just do like a quick lie,
- 40:30Speaker 1: a full night's worth of lying. No, it was a lie, lie.
- 40:34Speaker 1: It was like it was a full on. It was
- 40:36Speaker 1: a full on. You know. At some point during that
- 40:40Speaker 1: night her story had to get a little freaking twisted,
- 40:44Speaker 1: and she found a way to bring it back to
- 40:47Speaker 1: make him believe, like, there's no way you can hold
- 40:50Speaker 1: up a lie for twelve hours talking about you know
- 40:54Speaker 1: what I mean, she's gonna have to hold it up
- 40:57Speaker 1: for the rest of her life. Well literally, well it
- 41:00Speaker 1: all comes back. It spoilers. But this song at the end, Now, Brian,
- 41:04Speaker 1: we recently learned we're allowed to play thirty seconds of
- 41:07Speaker 1: a song if we talk, if we analyze it. Okay,
- 41:10Speaker 1: we used to think we weren't allowed to ever play anything.
- 41:13Speaker 1: But this song at the end by Ron Sexsmith called
- 41:16Speaker 1: Hands of Time. I thought it was very great, is
- 41:28Speaker 1: very very sweet. Yeah, you know, Donald, I don't know
- 41:37Speaker 1: what the song is about. I can't. I can barely
- 41:40Speaker 1: hear it, but it sounds very melancholic. All right, we
- 41:44Speaker 1: analyzed it. It's a pretty song. Check it out Ron Sexsmith,
- 41:47Speaker 1: Hands of Time. Um, that's the song that ends the episode.
- 41:51Speaker 1: So before we go into the Caller and everything like that,
- 41:53Speaker 1: I do want to talk about the Kelso situation and
- 41:55Speaker 1: all of this, you know, with him talking about Al
- 41:57Speaker 1: Green and Turk knowing who Al Green is because he's black,
- 42:02Speaker 1: and the whole Asian fetish thing. Uh, you know, I
- 42:07Speaker 1: think they're trying to tell us that this is a
- 42:10Speaker 1: bad guy, you know what I mean, for all of
- 42:13Speaker 1: these even though he's part of that Algreen thing that
- 42:16Speaker 1: he goes she has calcoma? Is that is the is
- 42:19Speaker 1: the implication that you're gonna sing is Algreen? Yes? Yes, terrible.
- 42:28Speaker 1: He's a terrible. He's a terrible, terrible, terrible person. Yes,
- 42:31Speaker 1: I think Donald's right there. I'm not gonna lie, though.
- 42:34Speaker 1: I laugh at some of this shit, man, Like a
- 42:36Speaker 1: lot of this shit. I laugh at a lot of this.
- 42:37Speaker 1: A lot of his racism fucking makes me laugh. Man,
- 42:40Speaker 1: I'm not gonna Archie Bunker. It's like Archie Bunker. I mean,
- 42:44Speaker 1: isn't it. You're you're you're you're laughing at someone who's
- 42:47Speaker 1: so delusional and old and often an asshole. Yeah, I
- 42:52Speaker 1: mean like yeah, but I don't know, man, there's humor.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I don't know there's humor in it. Like he bought
- 42:59Speaker 1: that RV to take Edith. He was like, oh, me
- 43:03Speaker 1: and Edith, they're gonna like retire in this and they're like, oh,
- 43:05Speaker 1: is it will she accessible? He's like, well, no, she's
- 43:06Speaker 1: gonna be dead in three years. And if she's not,
- 43:08Speaker 1: I'll come to that bridge. What I like. Horrible human
- 43:12Speaker 1: be terrible. The Comodo closet in the RV and Edith
- 43:19Speaker 1: has au coma and he didn't get al Green tickets,
- 43:22Speaker 1: so he's gonna have a green. Yeah. Man, it's a
- 43:28Speaker 1: mess your al Green impression. I don't. My al Green
- 43:31Speaker 1: impression is horrible. Okay, I also have an al Green show.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I do once every time. It all right, we'll be
- 43:39Speaker 1: right back with a collar and all right, Joel, bring
- 43:48Speaker 1: in this collar. I can't wait to see what you've
- 43:51Speaker 1: brought us. Joel always brings us wonderful callers. Everybody, we
- 43:54Speaker 1: got a call, you know, like a bottle maybe talking
- 44:05Speaker 1: about the episode. So come on, ladies and gentlemen, give
- 44:13Speaker 1: it up for mcla. Hello, Belcolm, he's still going, um, MICHAELA.
- 44:31Speaker 1: That's our friend Brian. He's joining us for the show.
- 44:33Speaker 1: And you know, of course the legendary DJ Daniel who
- 44:38Speaker 1: is often twitching the new show a new game, Elden ring.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Is that how you say it? You nailed it? And
- 44:45Speaker 1: I put him on a put him on a text
- 44:47Speaker 1: chain with my nephew who now they can geek out.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Did you connect with Henry? Oh my god, we talked
- 44:52Speaker 1: for like a solid two hours straight about video games.
- 44:54Speaker 1: It was really were you like, do you would you
- 44:56Speaker 1: tell him which spelled to use on which feature? He's
- 45:00Speaker 1: telling me he's farther. He's way farther than I am.
- 45:02Speaker 1: He's so much better. I think I made a real
- 45:04Speaker 1: nice bromance there, and there's our Queen Joel is it?
- 45:08Speaker 1: And yes, hello to say hello to the queen. Oh, hello,
- 45:12Speaker 1: Queen Joel mar Yes, Casey's not here, but if she were,
- 45:17Speaker 1: she'd say this, Yes, Donald, what is it? Shut the
- 45:20Speaker 1: fuck up? Um? Daniel? Um? Yes, Daniel. Is it like
- 45:24Speaker 1: Red Dead Redemption too? But with wands and swords? No? No, no,
- 45:28Speaker 1: it's it's closer to Zelda. Wow. That that was a
- 45:34Speaker 1: long pause in between. Well, all I know is both
- 45:39Speaker 1: DJ Daniel and my nephew Henry love throwing. What do
- 45:43Speaker 1: you call um spells? Kids? You like to cast a
- 45:48Speaker 1: spell on a on a on a What do you
- 45:50Speaker 1: call the guy at the end of the at the
- 45:52Speaker 1: end of the level? Boss? There you go, Daniel. Daniel's
- 45:57Speaker 1: idea of a dream day is beating a boss with
- 45:59Speaker 1: a spell ell yet perfect, perfect Sunday. That sounds awesome.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Were talking about I really need to get into video
- 46:09Speaker 1: games one day. Alright, MICHAELA, tell us about why Joel
- 46:13Speaker 1: chose you? Why you're here. Um, it's hard to get
- 46:16Speaker 1: past our bouncer, Joel. Somehow you did? What what's your story?
- 46:20Speaker 1: Your story must be great. Well, it's pretty exciting. But
- 46:25Speaker 1: um I tag Joel in a post that I made
- 46:29Speaker 1: on Instagram last week. Um, as I was about to
- 46:32Speaker 1: go into surgery. Um. Because last November, you guys did
- 46:37Speaker 1: a podcast with a guest who talked about how she
- 46:39Speaker 1: donated her kidney. And because of that episode, I immediately
- 46:44Speaker 1: took the quiz on the National Donor Registry, and last
- 46:48Speaker 1: week I donated my kidney. Oh my whoa, I just
- 46:53Speaker 1: got every piece of my body. Oh my god. I
- 46:59Speaker 1: want you guys to know that, like you have saved
- 47:02Speaker 1: a life. Like I know you've you know, you've made
- 47:04Speaker 1: a difference in a lot of people's life. But like,
- 47:06Speaker 1: because of your podcast, I was able to help someone
- 47:09Speaker 1: save a life and it was only because of you. So,
- 47:12Speaker 1: oh my god, I'm speechless. Jo I literally have goosebumps
- 47:17Speaker 1: on every cell of my body. You're incredible. So so
- 47:22Speaker 1: for those who do who missed that episode, MICHAELA, let's
- 47:25Speaker 1: go through it. Um. We had someone on who said
- 47:29Speaker 1: they they looked at the registry and um, Joel you'll
- 47:33Speaker 1: look up tell me I want to reference it again
- 47:36Speaker 1: with the registrates. But you and you can see if
- 47:40Speaker 1: you're a candidate for this, right and if they're looking
- 47:42Speaker 1: for someone. How does it? How does it work? I
- 47:43Speaker 1: don't know why I'm trying to figure out, MICHAELA. How
- 47:45Speaker 1: does it work? Sure, there's a on like the National
- 47:48Speaker 1: Kidney website. There's a potential donor survey that you basically
- 47:53Speaker 1: go on and fill out. It took me about an hour.
- 47:55Speaker 1: It was kind of expensive but kind of about your
- 47:57Speaker 1: lifestyle things like that. And from there, we don't want
- 48:01Speaker 1: people to take bong hits some with their one morning coffee.
- 48:04Speaker 1: I'm imagining. So you're not a really candidate. Wait, hold up,
- 48:08Speaker 1: we'd effects the kidney No, yeah, I didn't think so Okay,
- 48:13Speaker 1: I mean I don't think you can be like a
- 48:15Speaker 1: serious like user like maybe every day might count. I don't.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I don't, I don't. I don't use it, Okay, I
- 48:23Speaker 1: smoked smoke. Okay, all right, So I don't use it.
- 48:30Speaker 1: So you took like an outlook, it takes you about
- 48:32Speaker 1: an hour to fill out the paperwork and then then
- 48:33Speaker 1: what happens? Yeah, from THERETT really snowballed kind of quickly. Um.
- 48:38Speaker 1: They a center in my state contacted me and they
- 48:43Speaker 1: set up just a bunch of tests. I started doing
- 48:45Speaker 1: blood tests and from there I did some urine screens
- 48:49Speaker 1: and they took me in and did a full day appointment,
- 48:53Speaker 1: like a head to toe medical screen. UM, a bunch
- 48:56Speaker 1: of scans and stuff. I spoke with surgeons and nephrologists,
- 49:01Speaker 1: kidney doctors and all these people, and they determined that
- 49:04Speaker 1: I was a good candidate. And uh, you can say
- 49:07Speaker 1: no at any step in the process. Um, but I
- 49:11Speaker 1: kind of I kind of just felt like it was
- 49:12Speaker 1: meant for me. So that's incredible. No, no, no, have
- 49:16Speaker 1: you how long ago did you have the surgery? A
- 49:18Speaker 1: week ago? She said? Yeah, last Friday? Jesus? But you
- 49:22Speaker 1: look are you okay? You look perfectly like like you're not?
- 49:26Speaker 1: I mean to me, you look like you could do
- 49:28Speaker 1: you feel okay? You look great? Chewie says, you look
- 49:31Speaker 1: strong enough to pull the ears off a gun. Darn understand. Sorry, No,
- 49:39Speaker 1: I'm doing pretty well. Um. I was in the hospital
- 49:41Speaker 1: for about three days. Um, and then now I'm at home.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I mean, I'm living on this reclining um chair. But
- 49:50Speaker 1: they say, a couple of weeks and I should be
- 49:52Speaker 1: up and back to doing things like normal. I'm taking
- 49:55Speaker 1: three weeks off of work, but other than that, I'm
- 49:58Speaker 1: starting I'm starting to get an appetite back. I'm feeling
- 50:00Speaker 1: a lot more like myself. So can you save someone's life?
- 50:03Speaker 1: I'm in awe. I'm in awe. I feel very, very
- 50:05Speaker 1: fortunate to be able to be someone's life. I mean,
- 50:08Speaker 1: you get to live with that, mitzvah, your entire life.
- 50:11Speaker 1: My god, Now, are there any I think the answer
- 50:15Speaker 1: is no, But are there any restrictions that you now
- 50:19Speaker 1: have to live by only having one kidney? The only
- 50:23Speaker 1: thing is I have to make sure I drink a
- 50:24Speaker 1: lot of water, more than I would normally drink, probably
- 50:28Speaker 1: like up to like eighty ounces a day. But it's
- 50:31Speaker 1: not terrible, Like I drink a good amount of water.
- 50:33Speaker 1: And then you just have to make sure you can't
- 50:34Speaker 1: take a lot of medications that are processed in the kidney,
- 50:37Speaker 1: like advil or astron or things like that, or like
- 50:41Speaker 1: antibiotics either than really huh, like an antibiotic could kind
- 50:45Speaker 1: of fuck you up? Huh. Yeah, I'm certain pain meds
- 50:48Speaker 1: and stuff like that, like they had to be for
- 50:50Speaker 1: particular pain meds that I was given in the hospital
- 50:52Speaker 1: and things like that. But for the most part, within
- 50:56Speaker 1: a couple months, I can go back to living my
- 50:57Speaker 1: life like normal. And I'm pretty young and healthy and
- 51:00Speaker 1: so I don't think it'll have too much of an
- 51:02Speaker 1: impact on my life. Did they tell you or is
- 51:05Speaker 1: it secret who you saved? Well, this is actually pretty cool. Um.
- 51:09Speaker 1: It was anonymous. UM, so I gave anonymously. But they
- 51:12Speaker 1: did tell me that the person that got my kidney
- 51:14Speaker 1: happened to be at that same hospital, which is pretty rare.
- 51:18Speaker 1: And they said that the person that wanted to donate
- 51:21Speaker 1: to them couldn't. They weren't a match. So that person
- 51:24Speaker 1: donated to someone else and I donated to them. So
- 51:27Speaker 1: it was a bit of a chain that you were
- 51:31Speaker 1: the piece of a puzzle that needed to be put
- 51:34Speaker 1: into place for two people to get kidneys. So did
- 51:39Speaker 1: they I know you didn't do that. I know you
- 51:41Speaker 1: did this for totally philanthropic reasons. But did they give
- 51:44Speaker 1: you any financial help with work or compensation at all? Um?
- 51:48Speaker 1: There's a fund um that can reimburse up to four
- 51:51Speaker 1: weeks of lost wages, which is awesome. UM, and I
- 51:54Speaker 1: live in a state where there is a transplant center.
- 51:56Speaker 1: But they can also reimburse you for traveling expenses if
- 51:59Speaker 1: you have to travel for an appointment or something. So
- 52:02Speaker 1: they're paying me my lost wages for a three weeks,
- 52:04Speaker 1: which is great, um and incredible human Brian, I don't
- 52:11Speaker 1: know what that person. I mean. I can't, I really can't. Brian,
- 52:15Speaker 1: you were a fascinating guest until MC. You're just gonna
- 52:18Speaker 1: put it out there. I'm just gonna put it out
- 52:20Speaker 1: there stage. You're just a funny writer. Wow. Wow you guys.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Well I I love that you say that, and and
- 52:31Speaker 1: it makes me very moved. I I I really have
- 52:34Speaker 1: to from to be totally sincere the idea that gosh,
- 52:38Speaker 1: you know, we we we hear all the time at
- 52:41Speaker 1: this show and we see the numbers that a lot
- 52:43Speaker 1: of people are listening, and we can't believe it, but
- 52:45Speaker 1: we um, we we just think. We hope, we hope
- 52:47Speaker 1: we're brightening people's day, you know, just being ourselves and
- 52:51Speaker 1: hopefully you know that's all we all, all me and
- 52:53Speaker 1: Donald can do. And what Brian does is is is
- 52:55Speaker 1: hopefully make someone giggle. Um, that idea that our guest
- 52:59Speaker 1: would would and do inspire you, and that could, for
- 53:02Speaker 1: all we host inspire somebody else. I mean, that is
- 53:05Speaker 1: just so moving to me. I mean you and you
- 53:08Speaker 1: get to live with the with the honor that you
- 53:11Speaker 1: saved somebody's life. I just think that's incredible. And I'm
- 53:16Speaker 1: so impressed by you. I'm so impressed by you. And
- 53:18Speaker 1: you're a young woman and you So what do you do?
- 53:20Speaker 1: What do you do? I'm a microbiologists Like she's like,
- 53:24Speaker 1: I'm an assassin. Really balances out CIA and I can't
- 53:32Speaker 1: discuss anything further. Um, well, sorry, what do you do? Um?
- 53:42Speaker 1: I'm a microbiosologist at a hospital here, so I right
- 53:47Speaker 1: now I do a lot of COVID testing. For about
- 53:49Speaker 1: the last two years, I've done a lot of codes.
- 53:51Speaker 1: There's a lot of work in that, I hear, um
- 53:54Speaker 1: and um always busy. Wow, my goodness. I assume you
- 54:00Speaker 1: liked the show because you wouldn't have been listening to
- 54:03Speaker 1: this darn thing. You didn't do you do you have
- 54:04Speaker 1: any I feel bad moving on, but you're here. Do
- 54:07Speaker 1: you have any questions for us? Do you have anything
- 54:09Speaker 1: you want to ask? We can we fix your life,
- 54:11Speaker 1: like in any possible way? Sure? Well, one of the
- 54:14Speaker 1: questions I've always had for you and Donald is just
- 54:17Speaker 1: kind of how you guys maintain such a good friendship,
- 54:20Speaker 1: you know, through all of life ups and down, through
- 54:23Speaker 1: marriages and moving and being on different sides of the country.
- 54:28Speaker 1: You know, I have a best friend who I'm really
- 54:30Speaker 1: close with, but I feel like every time we go
- 54:32Speaker 1: through major life changes, it's so hard to figure out
- 54:35Speaker 1: a new balance or stay close. And I love your friendship.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I think that's the biggest reason why I love the
- 54:42Speaker 1: show and this show. So I'm curious what you guys
- 54:44Speaker 1: do to make it work. I say, can I be
- 54:47Speaker 1: honest with you wife? My wife is a strong, a
- 54:50Speaker 1: strong part of it. But in all honestly, we have
- 54:54Speaker 1: this we have we have even though we grew up
- 54:58Speaker 1: in different parts of the like he grew up in
- 55:01Speaker 1: Jersey and I grew up in New York. It's very
- 55:03Speaker 1: close and similar, but we have kind of the same upbringing.
- 55:07Speaker 1: We did kind of the same things as kids. Uh.
- 55:12Speaker 1: And when you find somebody who's a lot like you know,
- 55:16Speaker 1: it's Hollywood and you meet a lot of people that
- 55:17Speaker 1: are very similar in that way. But a lot of
- 55:20Speaker 1: the things that we did as youths are very very
- 55:24Speaker 1: similar and it's really weird, you know what I mean,
- 55:26Speaker 1: Like he has he has things that he did, Like
- 55:29Speaker 1: I don't want to bring up the forum, but like
- 55:31Speaker 1: that's something that you know, you know, there are a
- 55:34Speaker 1: lot of things that id a lot ideologies that we
- 55:37Speaker 1: have that are similar as well. And so he can
- 55:40Speaker 1: put up with he can put up with who I am,
- 55:43Speaker 1: and I can put up with who with who he is.
- 55:45Speaker 1: And we could say that shit to each other and
- 55:47Speaker 1: it and and uh and know that after this we're
- 55:51Speaker 1: gonna drop this shit and we're still going to be
- 55:54Speaker 1: friends like now. And also we had a very unique
- 55:56Speaker 1: experience that that that who else would ever really have
- 56:00Speaker 1: have UM, and that is that we spent ten years
- 56:04Speaker 1: um not you know, we had breaks through the year,
- 56:08Speaker 1: but for ten years every day together, every weekday together
- 56:12Speaker 1: making each other laugh. And our our job was like
- 56:15Speaker 1: crack each other up. Our job was like say these
- 56:18Speaker 1: lines and then also come up with new lines to
- 56:21Speaker 1: make to be funny. And we just bonded and we
- 56:24Speaker 1: have UM. I've seen, we've we've seen each other through.
- 56:27Speaker 1: We've been with each other through thick and thin, and
- 56:30Speaker 1: we do get in fights and it's often Casey who
- 56:33Speaker 1: helps us make up. Um, she's our she's our our
- 56:38Speaker 1: couples therapists and um and um and sometimes you know,
- 56:44Speaker 1: by the way, we wouldn't this podcast has been wonderful
- 56:47Speaker 1: for our friendship because we wouldn't. We wouldn't talk every
- 56:51Speaker 1: week necessarily this much. So it's kind of like you
- 56:54Speaker 1: and your your friend, if you if you, if you
- 56:57Speaker 1: promised and you had a hard commitment that every you know, Thursday,
- 57:01Speaker 1: at one o'clock, you were gonna do an hour and
- 57:03Speaker 1: a half FaceTime catchup. Um, we've done that. We've committed
- 57:07Speaker 1: to that and UM, and so that keeps us in
- 57:10Speaker 1: really good touch and UM. And I just love him
- 57:13Speaker 1: When I see his face, I just smile. I really do.
- 57:17Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I really I you know, like
- 57:22Speaker 1: your dad, your mom, my mom, Like you know, I
- 57:27Speaker 1: would say my dad, you know, be he's a bit
- 57:31Speaker 1: of a loaner. But like even when they met each other,
- 57:34Speaker 1: it was it's it's I feel like it's the same thing.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Like I feel like there's some form of family that
- 57:39Speaker 1: we have. It's also interesting too that are both of
- 57:41Speaker 1: the sets of our parents, well not my mom, but
- 57:44Speaker 1: your parents and my dad were both fairing in the theater,
- 57:46Speaker 1: and they were just very similar, even though Donald lived
- 57:50Speaker 1: in the city and I was out in the suburbs.
- 57:52Speaker 1: You know, we've said this before. We just we just
- 57:54Speaker 1: we just had the same sense of humor. And it
- 57:56Speaker 1: all began when I saw him at the at the
- 57:58Speaker 1: table read for Scrubs and he was early at the
- 58:01Speaker 1: bar getting a drink at Bill's in Christa's house, remember,
- 58:06Speaker 1: and he turned around, Hey, and You're like, hey, I
- 58:12Speaker 1: was like a famous guy, He's famous, And then we talked.
- 58:16Speaker 1: I remember, I just remember being like, I can't wait
- 58:18Speaker 1: for the table read to see how he's gonna do this,
- 58:21Speaker 1: and everybody left. You didn't think I could bring it.
- 58:25Speaker 1: We're using I was so nervous, dude. Look I bought
- 58:29Speaker 1: a lot of money riding on this fucking guy. Dude,
- 58:31Speaker 1: think about it. You had every line in the fucking
- 58:34Speaker 1: script pretty much. And I remember thinking, I have no
- 58:38Speaker 1: idea who this guy is. He has zero from my
- 58:42Speaker 1: from from my point of view, he has zero credentials
- 58:46Speaker 1: to be able to pull this off. Let's see what
- 58:49Speaker 1: he within Within two within two minutes of the table read,
- 58:54Speaker 1: he had won not only myself but everybody in the
- 58:57Speaker 1: room over everybody walking out of that ship was like,
- 59:01Speaker 1: I feel good about where we are with this, Like, yeah,
- 59:05Speaker 1: it was, it was. It was a great we know
- 59:07Speaker 1: that we'd go well the show would go nine years
- 59:11Speaker 1: or eight? Um, you have another question or a fix
- 59:23Speaker 1: your life for us? Um. So a bunch of TV
- 59:28Speaker 1: shows will do like crossover episodes like you know in
- 59:31Speaker 1: the Arrowbirth or one of my favorites is a New
- 59:34Speaker 1: Girl in Brooklyn My nine by those, I knew you
- 59:38Speaker 1: were going to say that, yes Tomorrow, Legends of Tomorrow. Yes,
- 59:43Speaker 1: I was wondering if you were going to bring that
- 59:44Speaker 1: up with the crossover episode of Legends of Tomorrow. I'm sorry,
- 59:49Speaker 1: I just want to talk about it. Pick the show
- 59:52Speaker 1: off CW Okay, sorry MICHAELA go ahead, Well you kind
- 59:56Speaker 1: of answer, but I'm cerious if the Scrubs characters were
- 59:58Speaker 1: to do a crossover with another TV show, which would
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: you have wanted to do? But I think the fans,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: I think the fans would want to see us in
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Psyched together. Yeah, that's with that type of crossover. I
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: have to admit I've never seen an episode of Psych.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: I've never watched one episode of Psych, but I love funny.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: It's really it's funny. It's yeah, it's well. I don't
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: know if it's because I have a little mild resentment
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: that they took our shack and ran with it, but um,
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: and then they took Sarah Chalk, who had the fucking
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: down on Sarah the fucking trader and trader fucking trader
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: was a trader and she was on how I Met
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: your mother making out with Josh Radner hussy, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: That Yeah, there's your answer, MICHAELA. I'm I'm speechless. But um,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: I do want to talk about one more thing before
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: we end the show, and that is Brian. Brian wrote
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: a beautiful Brian as a new Baby, and Brian is
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: an incredible writer, and Brian and Brian that book is amazing.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: But you wrote a beautiful, so beautiful, beautiful children's book,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: and I want to talk about and I hope that
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: you'll tell us all about it, called you are you
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: tell us just about the which you can get on Amazon,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: you can get anywhere. It's it's not one of those
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: self published things. It's it's Simon and Schuster, as I believe,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: so it's really everywhere. Tell us about the impetus and
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: I imagine having a new baby. Tell us about it, Brian.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: You know, I've always been interested in children's books, but
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: especially a certain kind, the kind that kind of spoke
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: to adult as well as like younger. You know, someone
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: gives you all the places you'll go when you graduate,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: you know, high school, or they give you the giving tree,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: some kind of adult themes. When I was growing up,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: they didn't have a word for it, but I was
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: undiagnosed bipolar, right, and that's been a journey for me
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: of like self acceptance, of self love, and you kind
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: of go through these hard fought lessons, and I wanted
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: to see if I could kind of take those thoughts
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: and make them kind of elementally boiled down to like
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: that elemental level where you could speak to a children,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: speak to children of all ages. So this book really
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: was my attempt to be like I wish someone had
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: handed me this book when I was a kid, something
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: about something about loving yourself in this way, and you
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: know also kind of you know, all these things you
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: might want to change about yourself can actually be like
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: your greatest strengths and putting that into there. So I
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: wrote the book. All the proceeds from me are going
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: to mind Up, which is an incredible nonprofit association that
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: really teaches tools to children so they can adopt and
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: cope with stress. And mental health for children really is
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: where this book lives. But I hope it's something that
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: can talk to like emotion, feel like it talks to
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: every everybody really, you know, I feel like I feel
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: like you know, when reading it, I was just like
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: you said, I wish somebody had talked to me this
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: way when I was young, because you know, we all
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: have our insecurities. I wrote, I wrote down that the
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: book is very uh it's it's a confidence booster and children.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: If children could hear what you're saying to them in
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: this book every day, just imagine how confident they could
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: feel going out in the world, being comfortable with just
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: being themselves. Yeah, I mean, And I think The Giving
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Tree is a great example in that your child is
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: going to appreciate it on one level and you, the
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: adult reading it, are going to appreciate it on a
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: whole other level. And I think it's very hard to
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: write like that. The book is is very simply written,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: So your child will, I imagine it will. It will
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: start a dialogue with your with your child too as
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: reading into them because it's so inspirational. But I had
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: like tears in my eyes when I was reading it.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: And I also have to say the illustrations were amazing.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Who who did those? Oh, Brian, It's done by a
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: guy named Alex Stephen Martin, And I just read him
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: with him because you could you could pick anybody because
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: you're you. I you know, I just randomly was connected
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: with him and I looked at some of his art
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: and I was like, this is very whimsical and kind
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: of has that feel that I wanted. And you know,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: we were talking about the shel Silverstein stuff. I love
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: those line drawings, those simple elegant drawings, maybe a little
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: bit of watercolor, and he just brought that vibe and
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I just fell in love with it. Yeah. I love
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: that everything in the book is characters too, like just
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: different types of characters. Yeah, Becau. Isn't there like a
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: cactus at one point? That's right? Yeahoint like my my
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: super cactus. Yeah yeah, really really sweet drawings. Brian. For real,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: it was such a great joy to read. Oh, thank
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: you so much. It's something, you know, it's like something
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: that I'm so proud of that. I really, I really
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: hope can some of those books that you were talking about,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: like they made a difference to me. And I hope,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: you know, not just about raising the money for mental health,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: but like drawing some awareness to that in the space
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: for children. I think it would be an incredible thing
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: to be a part of. I really hope people buy
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: the book and buy this book. It's you are you,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: and it's putting put up by Simon and Schusters, So
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: you know, it's no bs, It's not one of those
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: our friend wrote a book. It's it's um, it's I
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: actually think it will come out the day this is
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: right now, there you go, it's coming out today, and um,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Amazon or any imagine we'll be in bookstores for real,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: because yes, correct and get it. Because not only are
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: you supporting a good cause, um, all the all Brian's
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: proceeds go to mind up a friend of mine. Uh
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: these are by the way, hearing you guys talk about
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: it and saying that stuff and feeling how heartfelt it
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: is very very touching to me, to be honest, this
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: is something I've been working on a long time. So
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: now that it's coming out into the world and hearing
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: the response. It's really touching. A friend of mine gave
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: it to his kid the other day who's seven years old,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: and the kid read it with his dad and he said,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: this book makes me feel calm, and I think, yeah.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: And when he said that, I said, that's the only
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: blurb I want on the book. You know what I mean, like,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: this book makes me feel calm, seven year old. Mind
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: up dot org is the website if you're curious. I'm
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Brian just mentioned it's Goldie Hawn's charity. If you're curious
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: about that. All of the proceeds from Brian go to
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: mind up dot org and just get it because it's
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: a beautiful story to read your kids and make them
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: feel confident. MICHAELA. I sorry that Brian tried to steal
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: your limelight. I really didn't. I'm in awe. It's like
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: a battle. It's like a battle today. Man, It's like
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: having MICHAELA upstage Brian and then Briankael was I go, yeah, well,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: I raise you a kidney. Brian was yeah, well, I hell,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: I'm donating my proceeds from the book and both of
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: my kidneys. You don't want to do both, right, I'm
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: sure As a fake doctor. I advise you not to
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: do both. Don't do both, all right, that's our show, guys, MICHAELA.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: I I'm speechless. You are such an inspiration and um,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: and I think you're an incredible human being. And if
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: you are ever down and having a shitty moment, as
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: we humans are, I want you to remind yourself that
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: you saved someone's life and maybe put that on a
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: giant whiteboard in your in your house, because I write
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: inspirational things on whiteboards all around my house and uh, yours,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: yours trumps any of mine life. Um, and then remind people,
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: um where to go if they want to do a
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: similar thing. What's the website, MICHAELA? Do you went to? Um?
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: I grew a National Kidney Registry and I think that'll
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: pretty much take you there. There's a button that says
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: donate and they can tell you all about it. Okay,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: if you are a saint on earth like MICHAELA, go
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: to the National Kidney Registry or searched for that on
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: the interwebs and you will find it. That's our show, Donald,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: anything else you want to say, what a great show.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: It was a great show. Two really awesome guests. Yeah,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: thank you for having Brian Brian I am. I want
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: to thank you for uh you know, mentioning Zach and
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: I for this whole team Mobile thing, because that's probably
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: one of the coolest moments of my life. To you
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: were in the super Bowl. Super Bowl. I feel like
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: we played in the game. I feel I feel like
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: we won. I feel like Spectacus even though she came
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: in one for most search. She's the biggest movie star
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: in the world, so we need she's the black widow.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: I get it. Yeah, down's biggest movie star in the world.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: And then technically we won. We won. That makes you
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: the second biggest movie star in the world. Guys, congratulations,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: yeah yeah, so take that, okay, right, We love you all,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Thank you for tuning in, and uh we see you
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: next time. Five, six, seven, eight. Stories about show we
