- 0:00Speaker 1: The Driver's Show, powered by in a midsoon Nano Taylor
- 0:03Speaker 1: to oil. Over a century of engineering excellence meets cutting
- 0:07Speaker 1: edge nanoscale technology.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Produced to live is here, by the way, Parvlay, I'm
- 0:17Speaker 2: here today producing. We're just talking off air and we're
- 0:20Speaker 2: talking about the Young Day. What do you call it?
- 0:22Speaker 2: That was off air for a reason. Yeah, what do
- 0:25Speaker 2: we call.
- 0:25Speaker 3: You wouldn't know, but it's actually pronounced Tucson.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yeah, the yun Day Tucson. So it hasn't come out yet.
- 0:35Speaker 2: We're here, we're doing this. Pavlay is there, you're on
- 0:38Speaker 2: the zoom. I can see your little collection of go
- 0:42Speaker 2: karting trophies showing them up.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Can I? Well, it's just given you. You you brought
- 0:48Speaker 4: it up.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Let me just pull one of these away, would you?
- 0:52Speaker 4: God?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Tubs what we do?
- 0:53Speaker 5: I would say, it's a bit hard to read. Philip Island,
- 0:56Speaker 5: December twenty twenty. First Place, Okay, and there is that
- 1:00Speaker 5: a go cutting wheel?
- 1:02Speaker 4: That's one over here?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Oh what's that? What's that plastic?
- 1:07Speaker 4: Another?
- 1:07Speaker 2: First place? Okay, that's a that's he's holding up a
- 1:10Speaker 2: go cutting trophy. Oh look, here we go. What's a
- 1:12Speaker 2: bag of cocaine?
- 1:13Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:13Speaker 2: That's a lovely shot of glass. It's a lovely piece
- 1:17Speaker 2: of perspects. Okay about yeah, please don't. That's not a
- 1:21Speaker 2: good angle for you tubs listen, I was going to say.
- 1:23Speaker 4: And also not great for audio. No, but no one
- 1:27Speaker 4: can see.
- 1:28Speaker 2: It's been a bloody hot minute, hasn't it.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Where have you been?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Where have you been?
- 1:33Speaker 4: Bitch?
- 1:33Speaker 2: I want to firstly, I want to send our deepest
- 1:38Speaker 2: apologies to our great sponsors in a midso making nano
- 1:43Speaker 2: tailored oils. Sorry for the wait, guys. I wasn't actually
- 1:47Speaker 2: going to mention this because I thought, fuck, here we go.
- 1:51Speaker 2: This will be laid on me and Pavlo will never
- 1:53Speaker 2: let me forget it. But your boy had cataract surgery.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Oh lovely. It looked just like every other ninety year old.
- 2:01Speaker 2: That's right. I didn't see that on the cars very well.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Explains why I'm taking the blue pills at thirty nine.
- 2:09Speaker 4: I don't get it, but I think I know what
- 2:11Speaker 4: it is.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Sure, So that's kind of went on. That required
- 2:19Speaker 2: a little bit of arrest and a few weeks off,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and then you went. You went traveling. God, you waste
- 2:27Speaker 2: some fucking money, like you really waste a lot of
- 2:30Speaker 2: time and a lot of money, just piss farting around
- 2:33Speaker 2: all over the world just looking at barely interesting cars.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Look, I'm like Greta Thunberg. I care for the environment,
- 2:43Speaker 5: but I fly everywhere on jets.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's right. The similarities between you and a
- 2:49Speaker 2: seventeen year old girl, You've probably got the same sized tits.
- 2:57Speaker 2: So what have you been? What have you been up to?
- 2:59Speaker 4: Well, before we talk about that, what just I'll show
- 3:02Speaker 4: a little bit of interest. How do they do your
- 3:04Speaker 4: eye thing? Like they've cut it or.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so things have been Oh my god, do you
- 3:10Speaker 2: know what? I knew things were going downhill when I
- 3:12Speaker 2: saw some of our reels and I was like, yeah,
- 3:14Speaker 2: I gotta wonder why I'm having fucking glass new glasses
- 3:18Speaker 2: every three months. And they looked properly like that man
- 3:21Speaker 2: is sight impaired. And that probably explains why half of
- 3:25Speaker 2: the cars I quite liked, because I could see them properly.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, yeah. It involves everyone's like, oh, do
- 3:32Speaker 2: you get lassic or something? Do you get Lassic made?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Do you get lassick which is something to do with
- 3:38Speaker 2: like laser eye surgery. It's basically the basic bitches get it,
- 3:42Speaker 2: and you can pretty much see within that afternoon. This
- 3:47Speaker 2: is they're cutting stuff out and they're sucking it up
- 3:51Speaker 2: with a little vacuum and they're putting new stuff in.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I basically got old man tit implants.
- 3:56Speaker 4: But for me, eyes, wow, that's that's crazy. So can
- 4:03Speaker 4: you actually see now?
- 4:04Speaker 2: You can see? Yeah, I can see you pretty damn well. Yeah, wow,
- 4:08Speaker 2: that's good.
- 4:08Speaker 4: We won't talk about don't go near any mirrors, I think,
- 4:12Speaker 4: just for the moment.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, So quickly fill me in. What's been going on
- 4:15Speaker 2: with your life? I'll pretend I care. Yeah, I've just.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Been What have I been doing? So?
- 4:22Speaker 5: I went to the Middle East for a forward event
- 4:24Speaker 5: to drive some raptors, and one of the journalists decided
- 4:28Speaker 5: to drive one of the raptors on the roof in
- 4:31Speaker 5: the sand dunes. So that was a short lived exercise
- 4:34Speaker 5: for him. So that was that was fun?
- 4:38Speaker 2: Was that one of your people? No?
- 4:40Speaker 5: No, I know to slow down when I approach a
- 4:43Speaker 5: giant june that has like no clear ending to it.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Then what else do I do? After that? Oh my god,
- 4:52Speaker 4: I've been I've been doing I don't actually know.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Well you, yeah, you went to you went to the
- 4:59Speaker 2: Middle East Africa. Yeah, you went to South Africa with
- 5:01Speaker 2: the EV.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Was the y.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Yes, the JCU J seven shs. What a mouthful. So yeah,
- 5:11Speaker 5: basically went.
- 5:12Speaker 2: To Caridtown live just wiped him out.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Yeah, so went to Cape Town and drove twelve hundred
- 5:21Speaker 5: k's in this It was like an economy challenge to
- 5:24Speaker 5: see whether we could do the basic twelve hundred kilometers.
- 5:28Speaker 4: With a full charge plus a sixty lead to take
- 5:31Speaker 4: a fuel.
- 5:32Speaker 5: And it was great until people started taking it a
- 5:35Speaker 5: little too seriously and there were some numpties from some
- 5:39Speaker 5: countries that basically because it was an international event that
- 5:43Speaker 5: we're doing like sixty k's an hour on motorways and
- 5:45Speaker 5: I'm like, well, that's just dumb.
- 5:47Speaker 4: So we just went whatever, we'll just do to the
- 5:49Speaker 4: speed limit.
- 5:50Speaker 5: So we lost that, but we got there at the
- 5:53Speaker 5: end and had to sit around and wait for everyone
- 5:55Speaker 5: every single day because they were just going so slow.
- 5:58Speaker 4: But anyway, the car itself is quite nice.
- 6:00Speaker 5: So it's coming to Australia like very soon under fifty
- 6:04Speaker 5: thousand dollars drive away.
- 6:05Speaker 2: It's incredible.
- 6:06Speaker 5: These things are so cheap like it is. I just
- 6:08Speaker 5: don't understand how they make money. It's it's pretty pretty unreal.
- 6:12Speaker 2: So these are kind of like the bougie version of
- 6:15Speaker 2: the Cherry group, right, these are the if you're looking at, say,
- 6:18Speaker 2: say a Cherry Emota five. For a little bit more cash,
- 6:22Speaker 2: you could get the Jaku, which I've seen. They look
- 6:25Speaker 2: really nice. They obviously haven't driven one, but they look
- 6:29Speaker 2: great even even that's pre cataracts, by the way.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of like a weird one. They in
- 6:36Speaker 4: South Africa.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Cherry is the entry level, then a Moota is its
- 6:40Speaker 5: own brand, and so is Jacu. So Emoto Jacu are
- 6:44Speaker 5: kind of like their own separate thing, and then Cherry
- 6:47Speaker 5: is the entry level, so it is like the sort
- 6:50Speaker 5: of premium outfit. And yeah, look over there that the
- 6:54Speaker 5: market is so interesting over there. So basically any car
- 6:57Speaker 5: that isn't built in South Africa, because unlike Australia, they
- 7:00Speaker 5: actually still have a car industry that builds things, any
- 7:03Speaker 5: car that isn't built in South Africa has like a
- 7:05Speaker 5: thirty or thirty five percent tariff on it. So over there,
- 7:10Speaker 5: and a Mode of five is like a seventy thousand
- 7:12Speaker 5: dollar car, which is crazy. So and it competes with
- 7:17Speaker 5: like German cars it's such a strange, strange setup. So
- 7:21Speaker 5: the car market over there is really expensive, beautiful place.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Love Cape Town, love that sort of western cape. Spend
- 7:29Speaker 5: some time in Johannesburg as well, so yeah, it's a
- 7:32Speaker 5: pretty awesome country. So we'd love to go back there
- 7:35Speaker 5: and do some more sight seeing and stuff like that
- 7:37Speaker 5: that isn't work related.
- 7:39Speaker 2: What do you think about the JQU I mean, twelve
- 7:42Speaker 2: hundred k's is pretty bloody decent when you think about it, like, yeah,
- 7:46Speaker 2: look for a fifty thousand dollars car too.
- 7:49Speaker 4: It was good. I think.
- 7:50Speaker 5: The only downside is it has an immense amount of
- 7:53Speaker 5: power and talk, but it's front wheel drive, so it
- 7:56Speaker 5: talk steers like unbelievably, so it be a bit of
- 8:00Speaker 5: a handful. So yeah, it's it's one of those ones
- 8:04Speaker 5: that's that's a bit on edge a lot of the time.
- 8:06Speaker 5: But I think that's something they can improve with a
- 8:09Speaker 5: bit of software tweaking. They're also doing. They have a
- 8:14Speaker 5: Motor C nine, which is like a coupe style thing.
- 8:17Speaker 5: The plug in hybrid version of that car is like
- 8:20Speaker 5: a thousand meters of talk. It's a tri motor set up.
- 8:23Speaker 5: It's a really cool thing. Looks fantastic as well. So
- 8:26Speaker 5: I don't know if we're getting that in Australia. Hopefully
- 8:28Speaker 5: we do, but that would that would do some serious
- 8:31Speaker 5: damage to some sports cars in Australia, like it would
- 8:34Speaker 5: be very fast.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hey with the Raptors, I meant to
- 8:37Speaker 2: ask you about this. They didn't really they didn't. You
- 8:40Speaker 2: guys weren't driving like a facelift of one or anything
- 8:43Speaker 2: like that. It was fairly standard.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Yes, we drove Ranger Raptor, Bronco Raptor and F one
- 8:49Speaker 5: fifty Raptor. I've actually just today and by the time
- 8:53Speaker 5: this guy's live, it will have been released. Checked out
- 8:55Speaker 5: the range of super Duty, So that is something that
- 8:59Speaker 5: is that has come and that thing looks unreal like it's.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Basically it's a raptified wide super Duty.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Effectively, super Duty is the brand name they give vehicles
- 9:11Speaker 5: in the States under the F series that are basically
- 9:14Speaker 5: capable of doing crazy stuff. So Australia's super Duty will
- 9:17Speaker 5: have forty five hundred kilo towing capacity forty five hundred
- 9:21Speaker 5: kilo GVM eight thousand kilo gcm, like it is going
- 9:25Speaker 5: to be an absolute whopper of a thing. So I
- 9:28Speaker 5: think that it will. It'll do some serious damage to
- 9:31Speaker 5: seventy Series. Have gone to town on fitting the entire
- 9:33Speaker 5: range with all the safety equipment that fleets need. It'll
- 9:36Speaker 5: be powered exclusively by V six diesel.
- 9:39Speaker 4: So I love it.
- 9:40Speaker 5: It looks absolutely unreal. I think they're going to sell
- 9:42Speaker 5: a bucket load of them.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeahs that got the Raptor engine in it too.
- 9:46Speaker 5: No, so it'll just be V six diesel. And what
- 9:50Speaker 5: I can do so you guys can see what it
- 9:52Speaker 5: looks like. Actually, I don't know how I'm going to
- 9:55Speaker 5: do that. You say, if I can share my screen
- 10:01Speaker 5: just for your info?
- 10:04Speaker 2: Shit? Yeah? Cool. So this is the Super Duty yep.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Yeah, no facelift or anything for Ranger.
- 10:11Speaker 5: And if you look at the timeline of when Super
- 10:13Speaker 5: Duty is coming, it'll be twenty twenty six. And the
- 10:15Speaker 5: car that we saw and that has been released is
- 10:19Speaker 5: basically going to be the face of the car through
- 10:21Speaker 5: twenty twenty six, So it means we probably won't see
- 10:23Speaker 5: a facelift for Ranger until mid to late twenty six
- 10:27Speaker 5: twenty seven, which is interesting.
- 10:29Speaker 4: It's a weird strategy, but I guess it kind of
- 10:31Speaker 4: makes sense.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they're still selling well. So the super
- 10:36Speaker 2: Duty we don't know pricing and we don't know when
- 10:38Speaker 2: we can chuck orders down.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Yet, so orders are good to go.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Production they say will be in twenty twenty six. They
- 10:44Speaker 5: haven't said exactly when, but this will this will be expensive.
- 10:48Speaker 5: I think what they've said is the fleets they interviewed
- 10:51Speaker 5: will basically buy something like a seventy series will then
- 10:54Speaker 5: go and spend like fifteen twenty grand doing GVM upgrades.
- 10:58Speaker 5: So what they're looking to do is say, hey, you
- 11:00Speaker 5: can actually buy a complete product that's covered by warranty
- 11:03Speaker 5: and it'll be ready to go in your fleet.
- 11:06Speaker 4: You just chuck all your stuff on it and bops
- 11:08Speaker 4: your uncle.
- 11:09Speaker 5: So I think that they're going to have a slightly
- 11:12Speaker 5: higher asking price and it'll be probably justified given what
- 11:15Speaker 5: it's capable of doing front rear dif locks, like it
- 11:18Speaker 5: is going to be a seriously chunky machine.
- 11:23Speaker 2: I actually got female cataract implants put in and so
- 11:27Speaker 2: now so.
- 11:28Speaker 4: You identify as a deaf blind woman.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I'm also going trans cultural, so I'm a proud black
- 11:39Speaker 2: American death blond woman. So my old man gets his
- 11:45Speaker 2: car stolen, but not in the traditional way. So a
- 11:50Speaker 2: fairly new Merk. I won't say exactly which model it was.
- 11:54Speaker 2: It was about twelve months old. He just really just
- 11:57Speaker 2: bought it without test driving this thing. Then he started
- 12:00Speaker 2: driving it, didn't like it, so he just kept it
- 12:02Speaker 2: in his garage. He just he does this from time
- 12:04Speaker 2: to time. But he's always loved Merks. He's always had
- 12:06Speaker 2: a Merk. And anyway, so twelve months went by, he
- 12:10Speaker 2: had this car in his garage, thought I'm just gonna
- 12:13Speaker 2: sell it. Put it on the market for eighty thousand.
- 12:16Speaker 2: These guys came around and one guy stayed in the car,
- 12:21Speaker 2: and the other guy came around, test drove it, said yeap,
- 12:25Speaker 2: I'll buy it, had a bit of a look around
- 12:28Speaker 2: and bought the car for eighty thousand. Dad looked in
- 12:33Speaker 2: his account on the phone, and the money on his
- 12:38Speaker 2: phone on his phone, on Dad's phone, and it went
- 12:43Speaker 2: in through combank. It went into his Combank cap it
- 12:46Speaker 2: wasn't pending, it had cleared. It was there and the
- 12:49Speaker 2: guy drove off with the with the car.
- 12:53Speaker 5: Solomn one more question. So when he checked his phone,
- 12:57Speaker 5: was that on the day or was that at a
- 12:58Speaker 5: later date?
- 12:59Speaker 2: No, no, no, that was the day Dad handed the
- 13:01Speaker 2: keys over because the money was cleared, it was immediate,
- 13:05Speaker 2: it was in there. He had something on his phone
- 13:08Speaker 2: to say, hey, you're eighty thousand dollars overdrawn. He's like what,
- 13:12Speaker 2: so then he goes yeah. So this time he goes
- 13:13Speaker 2: to his computer and he checks, he checks his bank details.
- 13:17Speaker 2: There eighty thousand out. So he calls the bank and
- 13:20Speaker 2: he's like, what's going on? Like his's worry was this
- 13:24Speaker 2: guy has taken not only the eighty thousand he paid,
- 13:28Speaker 2: but eighty thousand dollars out of his account. So not
- 13:31Speaker 2: the case. So basically, this guy had put the money
- 13:34Speaker 2: in somehow had managed to kind of go ooh, so
- 13:36Speaker 2: I made a mistake or whatever and withdrew the cash
- 13:39Speaker 2: later on or the money wasn't good. It bounced. So
- 13:42Speaker 2: even though in his app it said it was clear
- 13:45Speaker 2: on the computer, it was a different story. Combank never
- 13:48Speaker 2: picked up on it. And that was that. But here's
- 13:51Speaker 2: where it gets just full on. Immediately when he found
- 13:56Speaker 2: out that the car had gone missing, obviously, he called
- 14:00Speaker 2: our Victoria police detectives came around. In an instant. He
- 14:04Speaker 2: called Mercedes Benz because these cars have a tracking system
- 14:07Speaker 2: inside them. Right, so soon as the detectives found out
- 14:11Speaker 2: that this was a Mercedes and a fairly new one.
- 14:15Speaker 4: They just they decided to care.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah. They they immediately just kind of sighed and said,
- 14:22Speaker 2: this is going to be some work. They're traditionally not
- 14:25Speaker 2: great to deal with. So everyone calls Mercedes to find
- 14:30Speaker 2: out where this car is. Can you track it and
- 14:32Speaker 2: start tracking the car? Please find out what's going on.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Even these detectives from Victoria Police, even with their authority,
- 14:40Speaker 2: couldn't get Mercedes Benz to turn this GPS system on,
- 14:44Speaker 2: couldn't put the tracking department on. Emails were sent back
- 14:48Speaker 2: and forth. Phone calls were sent back and forth direct
- 14:51Speaker 2: from these detectives to Mercedes. My parents there, Everyone's like, yes, permission,
- 14:57Speaker 2: please just turn it on. This should have been a
- 14:59Speaker 2: five in a job. This should have been an immediate thing.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Two days later, they still wouldn't turn the thing on.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Victoria Police are just pulling their hair out with this.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Mercedes Benz were asking for emails, and I've seen the
- 15:12Speaker 2: emails and by the way, I may publish them because
- 15:15Speaker 2: they are pathetic and they're so far off where they
- 15:19Speaker 2: should be with this. There were automated replies in these emails.
- 15:23Speaker 2: They were cut and pace jobs. They were just getting
- 15:26Speaker 2: bounced around. It was absolute circus. So that's two days,
- 15:29Speaker 2: one week goes past, Mercedes Benz still haven't switched on
- 15:33Speaker 2: the tracking system.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 15:36Speaker 2: And I'm looking at these emails too, by the way,
- 15:38Speaker 2: from the detectives saying, as a matter of priority, turn
- 15:42Speaker 2: this thing on. It needs to go on. We're trying
- 15:45Speaker 2: to track this car. Mercedes Benz did everything they could
- 15:49Speaker 2: to not cooperate. Two weeks, two weeks go past, this
- 15:55Speaker 2: thing still wasn't on. And you're also at this point
- 15:58Speaker 2: you're also dealing with insurance companies because you can't find
- 16:01Speaker 2: the car, and because Mercedes Benz aren't coming to the
- 16:04Speaker 2: party with the tracking system. It's kind of like, is
- 16:08Speaker 2: this fraud? Is this theft? The police treated this as
- 16:11Speaker 2: a robbery the entire time, so there was that. But
- 16:16Speaker 2: eventually they got onto somebody who said, we can turn
- 16:19Speaker 2: this GPS on right now, you just need to download
- 16:22Speaker 2: the app.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Oh my god, so serious.
- 16:27Speaker 2: So then dad, who by the way, my dad is
- 16:31Speaker 2: seventy five years old. He's not good with this sort
- 16:33Speaker 2: of stuff and neither should he have to be right,
- 16:36Speaker 2: He's like, oh god, all right, fine, I'll download this app,
- 16:39Speaker 2: download this app. And then they're like, oh no, you
- 16:41Speaker 2: have to pay for it, you have to pay a membership.
- 16:43Speaker 2: He's fine, I'll pay the thirty five bucks. Then oh
- 16:50Speaker 2: my god, pays for that. Everything's good to go. This
- 16:53Speaker 2: is now by a separate it's by a tracking company.
- 16:57Speaker 2: It's by an app slash tracking company that works for
- 17:00Speaker 2: Mercedes Benz. I think they called Gauge three sixty, right.
- 17:05Speaker 2: So Dad's on the phone to this woman from Gauge
- 17:09Speaker 2: three sixty, from the Gauge three sixty app, and she said, yeah, look.
- 17:16Speaker 2: This was twenty four hours later. Yeah, look, still can't
- 17:19Speaker 2: get Oh wait, yeah, it looks like you wouldn't believe it.
- 17:22Speaker 2: It's actually pinging. We've found the car. Do you know
- 17:26Speaker 2: where the car was? Where the car the GPS tracker
- 17:32Speaker 2: was going off at the Mercedes Benz dealership he bought
- 17:37Speaker 2: it from.
- 17:39Speaker 5: What hmmm.
- 17:42Speaker 2: What Yeah. So to this to this day as we
- 17:47Speaker 2: record this, the car still hasn't been found. The detectives
- 17:51Speaker 2: don't know if it's at that dealership. We don't know
- 17:53Speaker 2: if Mercedes put the tracking system in the car. We
- 17:56Speaker 2: don't know if it's where it is. It could be
- 17:58Speaker 2: in pieces in a shipping container. It's probably in another country.
- 18:03Speaker 2: It could be out of wreckers, who knows. But as
- 18:06Speaker 2: the detective said, Mercedes Benz have failed to cooperate in
- 18:11Speaker 2: every single way and it's to the point where they've
- 18:17Speaker 2: obstructed the course of justice. They're negligent and it's just
- 18:21Speaker 2: an absolute joke. It is an absolute joke Mercedes Benz have.
- 18:26Speaker 4: It is insane have let.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Them down in such a big way and no apology,
- 18:30Speaker 2: absolutely nothing. It's incredible. I tried to wring them myself
- 18:34Speaker 2: and it was just it was a brick wall. It
- 18:37Speaker 2: was incredible. It was absolutely incredible.
- 18:40Speaker 5: So's that's insane because what happens is when you buy
- 18:44Speaker 5: one of these cars, it comes with the app that
- 18:46Speaker 5: you activate through Mercedes Me or whatever the new system is,
- 18:50Speaker 5: and basically it's ready to go straight away.
- 18:52Speaker 4: You can't if you don't have the car.
- 18:54Speaker 5: You can't activate the app because it has to send
- 18:57Speaker 5: like a confirmation code to the car. So this whatever
- 19:00Speaker 5: this other thing is, it must be some third party
- 19:03Speaker 5: device that they fit to these cars or something. It's
- 19:07Speaker 5: that is so bizarre. So has anyone gone to that
- 19:10Speaker 5: dealership to go, hey, is this car here?
- 19:13Speaker 2: At this exact moment in time, we don't know where
- 19:15Speaker 2: the car is. Luckily Dad has kind of got his
- 19:18Speaker 2: money back from insurance and he's bought another car, not
- 19:21Speaker 2: a Mercedes. The guy is seventy five years old. He's
- 19:24Speaker 2: going through cancer treatment, not that that should matter, but
- 19:27Speaker 2: he shouldn't have to deal with the absolute shit storm
- 19:29Speaker 2: that has come out with this. It's it's so just
- 19:33Speaker 2: unfairmed lost.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I'm lost for words. That is insane.
- 19:38Speaker 5: So the guys that took the car, did he take
- 19:40Speaker 5: their license details or anything like that.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I believe so. They just are probably fake they
- 19:45Speaker 2: were Yeah, that exactly. They think it was a fake license.
- 19:48Speaker 2: In fact, they got there in a stolen car. The
- 19:50Speaker 2: car remained at the front of our house.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Ah, oh my god.
- 19:54Speaker 5: I I just don't have any words. That is insane.
- 19:58Speaker 5: That is incredible. You could imagine. I'm a member of
- 20:02Speaker 5: the Stolen Cars Facebook pages for all this content we've
- 20:05Speaker 5: been doing. There are so many Mercedes Benzes that are
- 20:08Speaker 5: getting stolen, so there must be some ability for these
- 20:13Speaker 5: thieves to take the cars or remotely disable.
- 20:16Speaker 4: These tracking systems.
- 20:19Speaker 5: It's alarming how many cars are getting stolen at the
- 20:22Speaker 5: moment by what looked to be not very smart people.
- 20:26Speaker 5: So if anyone can do it, you then wonder the
- 20:29Speaker 5: actual criminals, Like these guys probably sound like they're a
- 20:32Speaker 5: bit more sophisticated.
- 20:34Speaker 4: It just shows you how much of this would be
- 20:36Speaker 4: going on that isn't really reported.
- 20:38Speaker 2: And the detective said, like, straight up, this is you know,
- 20:42Speaker 2: the amount of time that they had to spend on
- 20:45Speaker 2: the phone and write emails is such a waste of
- 20:48Speaker 2: their time and resources. When people like these car companies
- 20:52Speaker 2: like Mercedes Benz just wouldn't cooperate, that is crazy.
- 20:56Speaker 4: I don't even know what to say. That's insane.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Anything fun that you've while we're chowing down on pizza,
- 21:03Speaker 2: anything fun that you've driven lately, anything that's kind of
- 21:06Speaker 2: tickled your ridiculously small Croatian pickle.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Yeah, to drove the new M five, Yeah, yeah, that was,
- 21:18Speaker 5: you know what. I spent quite a bit of time
- 21:22Speaker 5: in it the first five days or so. I really
- 21:25Speaker 5: disliked it, mainly because I drove it in and around
- 21:29Speaker 5: town and all that sort of stuff, and the whole
- 21:32Speaker 5: thing made no sense to me. They've increased the mass
- 21:35Speaker 5: by like five hundred kilos. It's slower than the old one,
- 21:39Speaker 5: it's got a plug in hybrid system for what reason
- 21:43Speaker 5: is beyond me, So instead of it actually sounding like anything,
- 21:47Speaker 5: the electric thing just runs the whole time. You have
- 21:51Speaker 5: to manually switch the engine on to get it to
- 21:53Speaker 5: do anything. And it's like, well, I would just buy
- 21:56Speaker 5: a fast electric car if I wanted a fast electric
- 21:58Speaker 5: I don't need this thing.
- 22:00Speaker 4: It's like a bit of both.
- 22:01Speaker 5: So my entire thought on it changed though, because we
- 22:06Speaker 5: went to do the filming at the proving ground and
- 22:08Speaker 5: when you actually have it set up in its sport mode,
- 22:12Speaker 5: it is one of the fastest cars I've ever driven.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Like it is phenomenally quick, one thousand meters.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Of talk, and it hides its mass really well, like
- 22:20Speaker 5: it weighs well over too.
- 22:23Speaker 4: I think it's like two and a half tons or something.
- 22:25Speaker 5: It is an enormous vehicle, but it doesn't feel that
- 22:28Speaker 5: heavy behind the wheel, and it is so fast, but
- 22:32Speaker 5: it just misses that raw emotion. It doesn't have a
- 22:35Speaker 5: very loud exhaust. From that point of view, it wasn't great.
- 22:39Speaker 5: But yeah, once you are up it is, it is
- 22:41Speaker 5: moving incredibly and then you can switch it to tool
- 22:43Speaker 5: drive mode as well, where you're basically getting all thousand
- 22:46Speaker 5: meters to the rear wheels, which I think is pretty incredible.
- 22:48Speaker 5: So yeah, I kind of went away with it thinking,
- 22:51Speaker 5: you know, as a daily I don't love it, but
- 22:53Speaker 5: you can get around the annoying stuff by just forcing
- 22:56Speaker 5: it to be on every time you start it.
- 22:59Speaker 4: But you know, I'm in two minds.
- 23:00Speaker 5: You would just go buy a secondhand previous generation M
- 23:03Speaker 5: five that's cheaper and faster and insert every other reason here.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Basically, for me, BMW's have always had that dinosaur reputation
- 23:14Speaker 2: like you can't really properly engage and fill the road
- 23:17Speaker 2: until you get over one hundred k's in those things.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I do wonder what the point of having this in
- 23:21Speaker 2: a hybrid is. I mean, realistically, would that be a
- 23:25Speaker 2: like an admission? Are they trying to meet admissions targets
- 23:27Speaker 2: with their flight it's the.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Woe idiots in Europe that are forcing this kind of stuff,
- 23:32Speaker 5: And it's actually remarkable that BMW's M engineers have been
- 23:36Speaker 5: able to create such a sort of visceral fire breathing
- 23:40Speaker 5: machine out of this, because it has every right to
- 23:43Speaker 5: be a complete dud, but that they've done a good
- 23:45Speaker 5: job with it on a limit handling point of view,
- 23:48Speaker 5: So I think that from that point of view, it's great,
- 23:51Speaker 5: but that you know, these stupid laws are just forcing
- 23:55Speaker 5: manufacturers just make these stupid decisions. And the issue that
- 23:58Speaker 5: I've got is that surely with these laws, they don't
- 24:00Speaker 5: sell millions of M five's, So why can't you just
- 24:03Speaker 5: have a model line of sports cars that has just
- 24:08Speaker 5: a V eight engine without all the plug in hybrid malarkey, Like,
- 24:13Speaker 5: why can that just not be a thing. Why do
- 24:14Speaker 5: we have to just hybridize everything and electrify at all?
- 24:17Speaker 5: There was nothing wrong with the way that it was.
- 24:19Speaker 2: So I think these manufacturers have their hands tied behind
- 24:22Speaker 2: their backs, you know what I mean, Like they've they've
- 24:26Speaker 2: kind of got to do it. They're under the they're
- 24:29Speaker 2: under the constraints of meeting laws, so well the spinning
- 24:36Speaker 2: unless they were smart about their fleet, like you said,
- 24:38Speaker 2: I mean, they could have eighty percent of their fleet
- 24:42Speaker 2: hybrid or EV and then ten percent ice, twenty percent ice.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Yeah, So look, I think there could be a change
- 24:48Speaker 4: that in Australia.
- 24:49Speaker 5: So basically, the ENVEZ as it stands in Australia, the
- 24:55Speaker 5: New Vehicle Efficiency Standard is a big old pilot poop
- 24:59Speaker 5: that will end up costing consumers more for both new
- 25:02Speaker 5: cars and also for all the services that are being
- 25:07Speaker 5: delivered to you by people who have to buy these
- 25:10Speaker 5: cars that are now more expensive. The Liberal Party has
- 25:13Speaker 5: just come out and said that, Well, they haven't come
- 25:16Speaker 5: out and said this, but there is rumor that they
- 25:19Speaker 5: will basically do a U turn on Envez if they're elected,
- 25:22Speaker 5: and it'll mean that we can throw out this nonsense
- 25:25Speaker 5: stuff that they've got in place at the moment that
- 25:27Speaker 5: sees some of Australia's most popular cars already being slugged
- 25:31Speaker 5: with penalties which will end up costing everybody more when
- 25:35Speaker 5: it comes to buying new cars. It's far too soon
- 25:38Speaker 5: for Australia and there just has not been enough time
- 25:41Speaker 5: for manufacturers to actually develop technology that suits these crazy
- 25:46Speaker 5: mandates for cars that simply do not fit the requirements
- 25:50Speaker 5: of what they're asking of.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Now. I can see Peter Dutton ripping down to Geelong
- 25:54Speaker 2: in a cop car. There, cop car pulling out the
- 25:57Speaker 2: front of your house and be like, hey, marek you
- 26:00Speaker 2: little Pissa, jump on in baby. Why did I make Peter?
- 26:05Speaker 2: Why don't I make Peter Dutton sound like Trevor Long.
- 26:10Speaker 4: He's just carrying like a washing machine that he's reviewing
- 26:14Speaker 4: that week.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Trevor Long in politics. Can you imagine Trevor Long
- 26:18Speaker 2: in politics? Oh what do you mean? Diversity? I'm all
- 26:21Speaker 2: for the LGHT TV plus sixty one in Yeah, I'll
- 26:28Speaker 2: carry the rainbow flag for the LGHD TV plus, thanks
- 26:34Speaker 2: very much.
- 26:35Speaker 5: But anyway, so look, hopefully the right party wins and
- 26:38Speaker 5: we can get rid of this nonsense stuff.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Speaking of fun little drives, I drove a Landrover Defender
- 26:45Speaker 2: Sodona Reddy dish down. No, it did not break down.
- 26:48Speaker 2: They're stunning. God, they are fucking stunning.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Like they are. They're very nice.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Driving one of these is like the first time you
- 26:56Speaker 2: get into business class. Remember that? Can you remember that?
- 26:59Speaker 4: Like that?
- 27:00Speaker 2: Every first time? I know it's been many business class
- 27:03Speaker 2: troops for you.
- 27:04Speaker 4: But they all feel the same to me.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Can you remember that first time you went from
- 27:09Speaker 2: the back of the plane, which was probably when you
- 27:11Speaker 2: were migrating to the very when you got off the
- 27:18Speaker 2: little crate where all the chickens and the cows and
- 27:22Speaker 2: stuff were, and all that sort of stuff, and someone
- 27:26Speaker 2: feeding you like a bowl of bush, and you that
- 27:32Speaker 2: first time you got to the front of the plane.
- 27:35Speaker 2: That is what this car feels like, but the.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Plane got to the destination.
- 27:39Speaker 5: I've just heard some absolute horror stories with land Driver
- 27:44Speaker 5: and rain Driver products to the point where I just
- 27:47Speaker 5: cannot recommend them to anyone if you want to own
- 27:49Speaker 5: them outside of the warranty period.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think they're probably the most financially sensible decision,
- 27:56Speaker 2: but you don't buy ironically the Defender.
- 27:59Speaker 5: Actually, it's its value really well, so well it has
- 28:03Speaker 5: up until recently because they still had a lot of
- 28:05Speaker 5: production delays on them. But I don't know, they just
- 28:08Speaker 5: still have not managed to iron out electrical issues, engine problems.
- 28:13Speaker 5: I just hear way too many stories from people who
- 28:16Speaker 5: get in touch with problems that they have and I
- 28:20Speaker 5: don't know, first as good as they are, you look
- 28:24Speaker 5: at the purpose of a Defender to go to the
- 28:25Speaker 5: middle of nowhere, to towse something to the middle of nowhere.
- 28:28Speaker 5: There is no way I'd take one of those to
- 28:29Speaker 5: the middle of nowhere, Like I would just be too
- 28:32Speaker 5: concerned about it not coming back.
- 28:33Speaker 4: So yeah, I'm overreacting.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you are your little pussy bitch. This
- 28:38Speaker 2: is this is I loved it so Dona red side
- 28:42Speaker 2: storage box, you know, just everything in it. And had
- 28:46Speaker 2: to me how much was it?
- 28:49Speaker 4: And don't say any more than one hundred and ten thousand, twenty.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Two inch gloss black wheels. I'll keep going. The suede headliner.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Do we talk about the do we talk about the
- 28:58Speaker 2: windsor leather in this car?
- 29:00Speaker 4: Yeah? All right, go and hit me how much?
- 29:01Speaker 2: Did I talk about the Meridian sound system?
- 29:04Speaker 4: This is sounding very expensive?
- 29:05Speaker 2: I did say it's got the body colored spare wheel cover.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I mean, that is that's what you want. That's primo. Yeah,
- 29:13Speaker 2: that's what you're paying for. Really, they offered me a deal. Well,
- 29:19Speaker 2: this is the thing they were talking about around about
- 29:20Speaker 2: the one hundred and ninety thousand, which I was like,
- 29:23Speaker 2: how much?
- 29:24Speaker 4: But get far?
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah, not a chance, but I think these are higher.
- 29:30Speaker 4: No, which engine is it?
- 29:31Speaker 5: The V eight?
- 29:32Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 29:32Speaker 5: Okay that's super charged V eight Then okay, fair enough,
- 29:36Speaker 5: but that's no. I would just not be buying that.
- 29:39Speaker 2: But anyway, did I mention the blacked out wheel archers?
- 29:45Speaker 4: You've worked with it a Mitsu before at their launch event? Right?
- 29:48Speaker 2: I did? I did, mate. I went to their launch event.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I am seated. Actually, your boy, m seed. It hosted
- 29:53Speaker 2: the whole thing, very nice, delicious Japanese restaurant. But I'm
- 29:58Speaker 2: really impressed. I'm really impressed. These guys have been leaders
- 30:01Speaker 2: in oil innovation for over a century. You know, they're
- 30:04Speaker 2: the ones trusted by Toyota and Mazda to deliver precision
- 30:08Speaker 2: engineered oils straight from the factory, and now now they
- 30:13Speaker 2: are bringing the same expertise to ossie drivers. What stood
- 30:17Speaker 2: out to you the most, well, a lot did, actually, Pavlo,
- 30:20Speaker 2: thank you for asking that non prompted question, and it
- 30:24Speaker 2: was their nanotailored oil, which is why we're here, because
- 30:26Speaker 2: this stuff is next level. And now they don't just
- 30:29Speaker 2: make generic who ha products. No, no, not these guys.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Every formula is designed with purpose. For example, let me
- 30:36Speaker 2: tell you something. The IFG three, Oh, this stuff is
- 30:41Speaker 2: perfect for city driving. This is what you want for
- 30:44Speaker 2: city driving. This is your stop start traffic, the stuff
- 30:47Speaker 2: that puts stress on your engine. But then there's the
- 30:49Speaker 2: IFG seven This is the stuff for your beast. Pavlay
- 30:54Speaker 2: the high performance vehicles seven layers of protection. Seven I
- 30:58Speaker 2: sound a bit New Zealand siven layers of protection. Anyway,
- 31:02Speaker 2: they've got no cleansing tech. It stops oil breakdown and
- 31:06Speaker 2: it even just sorts it in the harshest conditions. So,
- 31:10Speaker 2: if you're driving a Japanese car, the IFG five, oh,
- 31:13Speaker 2: that stuff is build for precision engineered engines. It's offering
- 31:18Speaker 2: five layers of protection to keep your engine clean and
- 31:21Speaker 2: running smoothly.
- 31:22Speaker 4: So that sounds like a lot of attention to detail.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Oh so much detail, so much I nearly forgot it all.
- 31:29Speaker 2: But the I OFG seven isn't just oil. Just know that,
- 31:31Speaker 2: because it's like giving your engine a custom suit of armor,
- 31:35Speaker 2: like a little massage as well. It doesn't just protect
- 31:38Speaker 2: your engine, it optimizes performance. If you're into keeping your
- 31:42Speaker 2: car in its absolute best nick possible, this is the
- 31:46Speaker 2: oil you want.
- 31:47Speaker 4: And now it's easy to get too.
- 31:49Speaker 2: It is very easy. Are you ready for the longest
- 31:52Speaker 2: website I've ever had to read? Out?
- 31:53Speaker 4: Here?
- 31:54Speaker 2: We go au dot in AMTSU slash no no slash
- 31:57Speaker 2: tailored slashoil dot com. I said it emits you. I said, guys,
- 32:02Speaker 2: don't give me that. Let's just tell them that if
- 32:05Speaker 2: they search out it AMIDSU Australia on the Googles, they'll
- 32:08Speaker 2: find where they're going. You know what I'm saying. They'll
- 32:11Speaker 2: ship it straight to or no fast, top tier oil
- 32:14Speaker 2: wherever you are.
- 32:15Speaker 4: OK.
- 32:16Speaker 5: If it's good enough for manufacturers like Toyota and Mazda,
- 32:18Speaker 5: that it sounds.
- 32:19Speaker 4: Good enough for me.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Hmmmm exactly. You know, with it, AMIDSU, you're getting oil
- 32:25Speaker 2: that's designed to handle whatever you throw at it. They've
- 32:27Speaker 2: been trusted for the best part of over one hundred years.
- 32:32Speaker 5: Yeah, look it, Amitsu taking you beyond engine protection to
- 32:35Speaker 5: real driving excitement.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I think I could read that better. You ready it,
- 32:41Speaker 2: Omitsu taking you beyond engine protection to real driving excitement?
- 32:48Speaker 2: Was that good?
- 32:49Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 32:50Speaker 5: That'll do.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Hey, mg Z has hybrid plus, brand new shape, brand
- 32:56Speaker 2: new kind of bits and pieces, and I've been driving
- 33:00Speaker 2: it for a long time. It's my it's my long termer.
- 33:03Speaker 2: As they say in the it's good. It's actually really good.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I started this as a bit of a family run
- 33:10Speaker 2: about just doing the normal things, getting to work, picking
- 33:13Speaker 2: the kid up, all that sort of stuff, as a
- 33:16Speaker 2: as a run around jesuits. It works great. I will say.
- 33:20Speaker 2: The biggest plus in this entire car is the fuel consumption.
- 33:25Speaker 2: As Paul takes out his phone and couldn't care less.
- 33:29Speaker 4: I'd say the big just googling something.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah yourself. Yeah yeah, So I will say
- 33:38Speaker 2: the big plus in this is the is the fuel consumption.
- 33:40Speaker 2: I know it's a hybrid and I should expect it,
- 33:42Speaker 2: but Jesus, it's been so good. It's been really good.
- 33:46Speaker 2: The white sort of faux leather. It feels a little
- 33:48Speaker 2: bit fancy. It feels almost like a Janus but just
- 33:55Speaker 2: a little less Korean. But yeah, it's been Goodish, I
- 34:01Speaker 2: tell you what. I tell you one thing, like, it's
- 34:03Speaker 2: got a lot of pluses with this car. Thirty three
- 34:06Speaker 2: K drive away. What's that? Yeah, exactly, not just in
- 34:09Speaker 2: the name, good pun, thirty three K drive away. It's economical,
- 34:15Speaker 2: it's zippy, it's punchy, it's a bit like me, and
- 34:19Speaker 2: it feels nice. But I tell you what. I did
- 34:21Speaker 2: do a road trip in this, and I texted you
- 34:24Speaker 2: about this, and I was like, what's the deal with
- 34:28Speaker 2: the random revving at like eighty ninety k's It'll just
- 34:33Speaker 2: start revving the four thousand like h and it's only
- 34:37Speaker 2: got a tiny little one point five in it, and
- 34:39Speaker 2: it's just like and then it'll stop. So look, that's apparently,
- 34:45Speaker 2: according to the manufacturer. That's to charge the battery a
- 34:48Speaker 2: little bit, the hybrid battery.
- 34:50Speaker 5: But it's basically they had to roll out a fix
- 34:52Speaker 5: because the issue they were having is it has quite
- 34:55Speaker 5: explosive acceleration, like it is pretty quick for what it is.
- 34:58Speaker 5: The problem is you can drain this battery quite fast
- 35:01Speaker 5: and you end up in a situation where it doesn't
- 35:03Speaker 5: have sufficient talque filled to get moving. So they engineered
- 35:07Speaker 5: a fix for it where it will intermittently charge the
- 35:09Speaker 5: battery and top it up so that you do have
- 35:11Speaker 5: that available capacity. So it's a fix to the problem,
- 35:15Speaker 5: but it ends up resulting in those random noises out
- 35:18Speaker 5: of nowhere which are a little intrusive into the cabin.
- 35:20Speaker 4: So I think there's probably a little bit of work
- 35:22Speaker 4: that they can still do to that.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, it was a small car. It was
- 35:26Speaker 2: a small minus to a lot of pluses. I think
- 35:30Speaker 2: for a family run around, it's economical and yeah, it
- 35:33Speaker 2: puts a family in a brand new car at thirty
- 35:35Speaker 2: three k so far, I'm loving it.
- 35:37Speaker 5: I think that's probably the thing for me, Like you
- 35:39Speaker 5: cannot buy anything these days for under fifty grand, like
- 35:43Speaker 5: that you could use in theory as a family car
- 35:46Speaker 5: and new That is so to me. I think the
- 35:49Speaker 5: pricing on these and the other sort of brands in
- 35:52Speaker 5: this segment just show you how much value there is
- 35:56Speaker 5: to be had. They now do I think a ten
- 35:57Speaker 5: year warranty as well? Yeah, don't find new cars with
- 36:02Speaker 5: a ten year warranty. I still find it hilarious that
- 36:04Speaker 5: Porsche still only has a three year warranty. It's like,
- 36:07Speaker 5: do you not believe in your cars at all? How
- 36:10Speaker 5: can these guys do a ten you warranty? You guys
- 36:12Speaker 5: do a three year warranties? Like, what is what am
- 36:15Speaker 5: I missing you?
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah? It's crazy, but yeah, so far, so good, So far,
- 36:20Speaker 2: so good. I was having a look at your your
- 36:23Speaker 2: little website. I can't remember the name of it. I
- 36:25Speaker 2: think it's on MySpace, but but I was having a
- 36:30Speaker 2: look at all the cars coming out this year. There
- 36:32Speaker 2: is we've still got what are we into April? We've
- 36:35Speaker 2: got still a fair bit coming. Alpha Romeo. Well it's
- 36:38Speaker 2: now called the Junior because it was it was originally
- 36:40Speaker 2: called the Milana, but the people of Milano crack the shits,
- 36:44Speaker 2: They're like no, no, no, with the not one is
- 36:48Speaker 2: a ship named after us Aston Martin DBX looks nice.
- 36:54Speaker 5: There are a lot of cars coming. There's heaps of
- 36:56Speaker 5: Chinese cars most people have never heard of. Yeah, there's
- 36:59Speaker 5: so many new brands, it's unbelievable.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Yeah, Actually, lots about he is coming out, Jesus. Yeah, one,
- 37:05Speaker 2: the Q two, the Q six e, tron A five,
- 37:09Speaker 2: RS three update, Q five, Q five Sports Back. Oh
- 37:13Speaker 2: you know what I'm excited for. Cadillac are bringing out
- 37:16Speaker 2: the is it the lyric?
- 37:19Speaker 5: I honestly don't understand what they're doing. It's like the
- 37:22Speaker 5: cars we actually want have an engine and all they're
- 37:25Speaker 5: doing is this electric stuff.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 5: No one that thinks of Cadillac thinks enormous electric suv.
- 37:31Speaker 5: They think Escalade or cts. Yeah, none of which are coming.
- 37:35Speaker 5: Like why would you not launch the Escalade? That would
- 37:37Speaker 5: be unreal, just some electric thing.
- 37:39Speaker 2: And also in Australia, people don't get that Cadillac over
- 37:43Speaker 2: in the US is kind of like a real premium
- 37:45Speaker 2: car too, Like it's what the Kardashians geting around him
- 37:47Speaker 2: is all right, that's correct. The last time I was there,
- 37:50Speaker 2: and that's what you were there? Yeah you got picktures
- 37:53Speaker 2: that show?
- 37:54Speaker 4: Yeah, sure you did.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Jeez.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Wow, if that's the case. How the mightier faller I
- 38:00Speaker 2: like to diversify. Yeah, she found me on the street.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I had a tin can and I was I was
- 38:07Speaker 2: selling pens outside the I g A. She s there's
- 38:11Speaker 2: a lot of Tigos coming out this year, isn't there. Yeah,
- 38:14Speaker 2: a lot of TI guys.
- 38:17Speaker 4: Hey, fun one for you.
- 38:19Speaker 5: So after the last by D CONTROVERSI we have the
- 38:26Speaker 5: car back again, the by D shark. I was trying
- 38:28Speaker 5: to call you today in the Apple Car play stockworking
- 38:31Speaker 5: I didn't actually make any calls.
- 38:33Speaker 2: That doesn't sound like a shark to me. We'll cut
- 38:35Speaker 2: that bit out.
- 38:36Speaker 4: Yeah, So yeah, we we.
- 38:41Speaker 5: Went and redid all the tests, so our hill climb,
- 38:44Speaker 5: on our little hills and our trailer dine test.
- 38:48Speaker 4: So yeah, watch this space.
- 38:52Speaker 5: This car has all the production firmware, so as far
- 38:56Speaker 5: as I can tell, it should have no excuse to
- 38:58Speaker 5: not have made it up.
- 38:59Speaker 2: This is car I was so excited for at one point,
- 39:02Speaker 2: and even now jumping on the owners group on Facebook,
- 39:05Speaker 2: which is massive. I think there's a lot of owners
- 39:10Speaker 2: and I'm starting to see a lot of these on
- 39:11Speaker 2: the road now, so they're really well and truly kind
- 39:13Speaker 2: of integrating in there's a lot of owners that are
- 39:17Speaker 2: just putting their hands up and going yeah, we yeah,
- 39:22Speaker 2: it's not going to take a heell. Some guy posted, hey,
- 39:25Speaker 2: check it out my cup. My shark can get up
- 39:27Speaker 2: my driveway like go you yeah, yeay, little steps, baby steps,
- 39:37Speaker 2: you're doing great.
- 39:39Speaker 4: Funny, that's a.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Shame because I look, I saw I saw one driving
- 39:42Speaker 2: in Actually, as you know, they've got a bit of
- 39:45Speaker 2: fantastic they look great on the road, They've got a
- 39:47Speaker 2: real presence to them, and they it's kind of weird
- 39:50Speaker 2: seeing them because obviously I was in them driving, but
- 39:53Speaker 2: seeing them as somebody else, I guess looking out it's
- 39:58Speaker 2: they've got a good stance about him, got a really
- 40:00Speaker 2: good presence on the road. As a yeah, they look fantastic.
- 40:03Speaker 2: As a throw about daily it's great. But I mean,
- 40:06Speaker 2: surely you'd want to get this thing on the beach
- 40:08Speaker 2: or something. Yeah.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Look, I think people have had them on the beach,
- 40:12Speaker 4: you know, with varying degrees of success. But yeah, I
- 40:16Speaker 4: don't know.
- 40:16Speaker 5: It's just one of those things that I think they're
- 40:18Speaker 5: going to have to go back to the drawing board
- 40:19Speaker 5: and just fix some of the stuff that you know,
- 40:22Speaker 5: has gone wrong with it, and then it should be
- 40:24Speaker 5: quite a competent vehicle. But we've also just tested the
- 40:27Speaker 5: Cannon Alpha plug in hybrid, which is just a completely
- 40:31Speaker 5: different operation, Like it actually has a proper a drive
- 40:34Speaker 5: line with an electric motor sandwiched in a much bigger
- 40:37Speaker 5: battery and like, yeah, I don't know. You'll have to
- 40:42Speaker 5: keep an eye out for the content when it goes live.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Questions off the ground, what have we got there?
- 40:49Speaker 3: The main one was what's Paul going to wear now
- 40:52Speaker 3: that Rivers has closed Paul?
- 40:55Speaker 4: Firstly, that's news to me. I didn't know Rivers had
- 40:58Speaker 4: closed can Leaves.
- 41:01Speaker 2: He's been propping up that joint for years.
- 41:03Speaker 4: So I am wondering what I'm going to do with
- 41:06Speaker 4: my frequent bio points. Secondly, not an issue.
- 41:09Speaker 5: I have quite a comprehensive Rivers wardrobe at home that
- 41:14Speaker 5: will last me through to at least another ten or
- 41:16Speaker 5: fifteen years.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Also, as I told that, as I told that person, yeah,
- 41:21Speaker 2: I pre ordered Paul twenty of the famous eight pocket shirts.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Oh that's that's a whole in triple extra large. Obviously
- 41:28Speaker 2: he's not going to run out. What else you got
- 41:33Speaker 2: a right one of them coming through?
- 41:35Speaker 3: It says why do high end manufacturers not tell you
- 41:38Speaker 3: how to release their E braks in emergency situations with
- 41:42Speaker 3: BMW and brackets?
- 41:44Speaker 4: Oh that's a good question.
- 41:46Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, it's one of those funny ones where a
- 41:50Speaker 5: lot of these cars will now just automatically apply these
- 41:53Speaker 5: E breaks and they'll hide like the release somewhere completely
- 41:58Speaker 5: out of sight and unless you actually go looking for
- 42:00Speaker 5: it and know where it is, like, you're never going
- 42:02Speaker 5: to be able to find it.
- 42:04Speaker 4: But that is a really good point.
- 42:06Speaker 5: And I'm actually thinking to some of the neuroelectric cars
- 42:09Speaker 5: and stuff that have electronic shifters, Like I don't even
- 42:12Speaker 5: know how you would change some of those cars out
- 42:14Speaker 5: of gear, like if the battery goes flat, like it's
- 42:17Speaker 5: to get it out of park. So yeah, I mean
- 42:19Speaker 5: all of this stuff that's advanced, like a Tesla with
- 42:22Speaker 5: the Model three with the rooftop gearshift.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Thing, but do you get that into drive or into neutral?
- 42:28Speaker 2: Well, there's only one way to find out. Let's break
- 42:30Speaker 2: down and past it.
- 42:32Speaker 3: The other question was canon alpha or a bid, which
- 42:35Speaker 3: we kind of skimmed on.
- 42:36Speaker 2: We have to wait for Watch this Space.
- 42:38Speaker 4: Yes, watch Watch this Space.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Last one, but who owns the proving ground now?
- 42:42Speaker 5: Still VinFast, the Vietnamese manufacturer. They still haven't sold it.
- 42:46Speaker 5: It's still up for sale though, so if you want
- 42:48Speaker 5: to pass a hat around.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Fun fact, when I was in Vietnam, i stayed in
- 42:52Speaker 2: the I noticed a lot of who.
- 42:58Speaker 4: He was. One of the.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Greatest is that he was grades cataracts, so spacious, so spacious,
- 43:04Speaker 2: big boot.
- 43:07Speaker 5: No.
- 43:07Speaker 2: So when I was in Vietnam, I noticed a lot
- 43:10Speaker 2: of vin Fasts at the resort I was staying at,
- 43:13Speaker 2: and they looked quite cool. They had kind of scoops
- 43:15Speaker 2: on the bondo and I was like, ah, vin Fast
- 43:17Speaker 2: all right, And one of the security guards was just
- 43:20Speaker 2: chatting to me about it, and he's like, yeah, they
- 43:22Speaker 2: were really fast, blah blah blah blah blah. And he said,
- 43:24Speaker 2: the owner of vin Fast is the guy who owns
- 43:27Speaker 2: this resort, and he goes, you'll probably stacey quite a bit.
- 43:30Speaker 2: It's his little l little hideaway. You'll probably see him
- 43:33Speaker 2: rolling around.
- 43:34Speaker 4: Yeah, so he is the I think the wealthiest guy
- 43:36Speaker 4: in in Vietnam.
- 43:38Speaker 5: But they actually bought X five and five series platforms
- 43:43Speaker 5: and put LS three engines in them. It was just
- 43:46Speaker 5: these really weird little setup. So yeah, they still ow
- 43:50Speaker 5: the proven going so fun story. They were actually filming
- 43:52Speaker 5: a movie there a couple of weeks ago, so.
- 43:55Speaker 4: They had all it was my movie, it was my
- 43:57Speaker 4: uporn channel, and yeah it was very short. Yeah, yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 2: I was entering in the short film Cans Film Festival
- 44:07Speaker 2: and they wouldn't accept films under two minutes. I'm like,
- 44:11Speaker 2: well that session I was a bit of a slow coach,
- 44:14Speaker 2: but all right, we should end. Let's go, let's get
- 44:18Speaker 2: out of here. I've got pizza, deway Paul's got some.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Clothes to pick, trophies to shine.
- 44:24Speaker 2: That's not a trophy, he's buffing.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Hey, thanks for tuning in to the Driver's Show, proudly
- 44:30Speaker 1: sponsored by a MIDSU Nano Taylor Oil experienced the power
- 44:34Speaker 1: of precision and over one hundred years of engineering expertise.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I want to know more, So it Amitsu Nano Taylor
