- 0:01Speaker 1: Hi, Catherine, Hi, chelseall y, I'm good. I'm good. I
- 0:05Speaker 1: just read that book James by Perceval Prescott Persivoy, Percival Prescott.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Is that his name that has been everywhere?
- 0:13Speaker 1: Everett Percival Everett ef Yeah, James. It was very should
- 0:18Speaker 1: be required reading. It's an amazing book. You have to
- 0:20Speaker 1: read it, and it really shook me up for a
- 0:22Speaker 1: few days. I think I absorb sometimes I absorb things
- 0:26Speaker 1: so much, like I can't stop thinking about them, you know.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it is personal.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Ever, I just double checked and it's like a retelling
- 0:33Speaker 3: of the Huck Finn story right.
- 0:34Speaker 1: From his perspective, from the slave's perspective, so they have
- 0:38Speaker 1: like a guy.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Yeah. So it's great.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It takes you through like right before the war broke
- 0:43Speaker 1: out and on the Mississippi River and then kind of
- 0:46Speaker 1: he's trying to escape for his family and he's trying
- 0:49Speaker 1: to get back. It's just it's a saga. It's a
- 0:52Speaker 1: whole saga with Huck Fin involved in it. And it's
- 0:55Speaker 1: a nice retelling. It's beautiful but heartbreaking.
- 0:59Speaker 3: And you do love a retelling of a classic too,
- 1:01Speaker 3: like I know you love Cirrus and those other ones
- 1:03Speaker 3: like yeah. Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 1: And then I read those women that have that podcast
- 1:08Speaker 1: I've Had It, Those two funny women. I think they
- 1:11Speaker 1: have a great podcast called I've Had It Podcast, which
- 1:13Speaker 1: is there's these two women from Oklahoma, and they have
- 1:16Speaker 1: a new book called Life Is Just a Lazy Season
- 1:19Speaker 1: of Shit Sandwiches. That's a pretty funny book that I
- 1:22Speaker 1: also just read. I'm reading Elizabeth Gilbert's book All the
- 1:25Speaker 1: Way to the River and I'm almost done with that.
- 1:28Speaker 1: That is a beautiful book. Yes, I started reading Demon Copperhead,
- 1:33Speaker 1: but I haven't finished that.
- 1:34Speaker 2: That's kind of a hard reause it is.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I brought that to Whistler and I left it there
- 1:38Speaker 1: because I was halfway through and I'm like, Okay, I
- 1:40Speaker 1: don't want to not read this book, but I'm not
- 1:42Speaker 1: finishing this right now, and I had other books to
- 1:44Speaker 1: read for our podcast. So but everyone talks about that
- 1:47Speaker 1: book and it's been on the list for years and
- 1:48Speaker 1: years and years.
- 1:49Speaker 4: And then what about You.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I started out this year reading a bunch of books
- 1:56Speaker 3: that I did not like. I didn't like like the
- 1:57Speaker 3: first five books I read this year, and I realized
- 2:00Speaker 3: it was because they were all from book Talk and
- 2:01Speaker 3: all recommendations from book talk, so I stopped doing that.
- 2:04Speaker 4: But what's wrong with book talk?
- 2:05Speaker 2: You know?
- 2:06Speaker 3: I think it's just like people read a book and
- 2:08Speaker 3: they feel like they need to recommend it because it's
- 2:10Speaker 3: a thing that they read.
- 2:11Speaker 2: But I will say some books that I have really
- 2:14Speaker 2: really loved this year.
- 2:15Speaker 3: One is called The Reformatory and this is absolutely a
- 2:20Speaker 3: horror novel. But it's written by Tanana Reevedo, and it's
- 2:24Speaker 3: all about like Jim Crow South and a boy's reformatory, which,
- 2:29Speaker 3: of course, like all kinds of terrible things happen, but
- 2:32Speaker 3: she is a student of horror and weaves in all
- 2:36Speaker 3: these different elements like there are there's like a spiritual
- 2:40Speaker 3: aspect and a ghost aspect and like, you know, really
- 2:43Speaker 3: scary adults aspect. I mean, it is one of the
- 2:45Speaker 3: most beautiful books I've ever read. Probably not a great
- 2:48Speaker 3: beat reade, although that's where I read it, but I
- 2:50Speaker 3: loved it. And it was also when I couldn't stop
- 2:53Speaker 3: thinking about And then I just finished reading Lonesome Dove.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Do you remember that one went from the Yeah?
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I read it with my dad because he's like
- 3:00Speaker 3: a big cowboy guy, and I kept seeing it on
- 3:02Speaker 3: all these book tack lists, and that was one that
- 3:05Speaker 3: I can say is totally worth a read. Is It's
- 3:08Speaker 3: pretty long, but you just you are there with the characters.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It's beautifully written. It's so funny throughout and just like
- 3:17Speaker 3: very I mean, you just feel like you're there.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So I also read Bright Young Women, Oh My God
- 3:23Speaker 1: by Jessica Nole.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I read that last year and it's one of the
- 3:26Speaker 3: one of the best books I've ever read.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Remind me what.
- 3:29Speaker 1: That's about and refreshment memory because I'm looking at all
- 3:32Speaker 1: my pictures and I was like, okay, yes, this is
- 3:34Speaker 1: I read this in Whistler and I remind me yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Because I was like, you have to read this one.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I saw it around your house.
- 3:40Speaker 3: It is about, oh, yeah, you're the victims of the
- 3:43Speaker 3: serial of a certain serial killer who you do know,
- 3:46Speaker 3: but they don't ever name him in the book.
- 3:48Speaker 2: But he's a real serial killer.
- 3:50Speaker 3: And it is a telling of the stories of some
- 3:52Speaker 3: of his victims and other women who were impacted by
- 3:55Speaker 3: his murders.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Oh okay, yes, And then I did read here. I
- 3:58Speaker 4: read Beautiful World, Where Are You? By Sally Rudey.
- 4:01Speaker 2: That's a great Oh yeah, she's wonderful.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And then there's the other book I read, which isn't
- 4:05Speaker 1: for everyone. It's called hyper Focus, How to Work Less
- 4:07Speaker 1: and Achieve More by Chris Bailey. But that was kind
- 4:10Speaker 1: of just a that's not an escapist book. That's more
- 4:14Speaker 1: of like a functioning book. Yeah, you know, like how
- 4:17Speaker 1: to function. Yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like a like a self healthy sort of thing.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Isn't it amazing though, that you can read an entire
- 4:23Speaker 1: book and forget what the funk it's about.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I mean, it is amazing, and it's also very true.
- 4:28Speaker 2: It just it just happens. I'll tell you what.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I am sad that I spent nine hundred pages reading
- 4:34Speaker 3: Can we ever.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Talk about Cassandra at the Wedding by Dorothy Baker?
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yes we did, Yeah we did.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I did force myself to read The Mists of Avalon,
- 4:43Speaker 3: which is like way from the eighties, and it's like
- 4:45Speaker 3: a retelling of the Arthurian legends from the women's perspective.
- 4:49Speaker 4: And man Artherian legends.
- 4:51Speaker 2: What are the legends of Arthur?
- 4:53Speaker 4: Who is that arth King Arthur?
- 4:56Speaker 3: And it was it was so boring and nothing happen
- 5:00Speaker 3: in nine hundred pages and the end wasn't even satisfying.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And I feel about Demon Copperhead. It's just like, what
- 5:06Speaker 1: so depressing the subject matter. I hate when there's crystal
- 5:09Speaker 1: meth involved. Yeah, I don't like crystal. I mean there
- 5:12Speaker 1: may as well be. It's like the set. That's the setting,
- 5:14Speaker 1: you know, it's like a trailer park, and yeah, there's
- 5:17Speaker 1: like alcoholism and crystal math.
- 5:19Speaker 4: It's just like I hate that vibe.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It's like I want to be taken away on a journey.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Like the Elizabeth Gilbert book is so beautifully written because
- 5:29Speaker 1: it's about her lover and she finds this love of
- 5:32Speaker 1: her life and and then so she gets diagnosed with
- 5:35Speaker 1: cancer and it's about their last year together and they
- 5:39Speaker 1: had been friends for years, and it's this beautiful Syrian
- 5:41Speaker 1: woman and she's just is like this show. The book
- 5:45Speaker 1: is kind of like an homage to her love and
- 5:47Speaker 1: like how special and vibrant this woman was.
- 5:50Speaker 4: You know, she's so dynamic.
- 5:52Speaker 1: And complicated and complicated and she just like it and
- 5:55Speaker 1: lights up every room she walks into or tears it apart.
- 5:59Speaker 4: So I could relate to that.
- 6:00Speaker 3: One other book that I'll recommend to you and to
- 6:03Speaker 3: the listeners is called Tits Up and it is a
- 6:06Speaker 3: nonfiction book, but it's called Tits Up. What sex Workers,
- 6:10Speaker 3: milk bankers, plastic surgeons, broad designers and witches tell us
- 6:14Speaker 3: about breasts. And it's this woman, Sarah Thornton, and she
- 6:19Speaker 3: had to get a double misstectomy and kind of went
- 6:21Speaker 3: on this like journey to learn everything she cout about
- 6:24Speaker 3: breasts and socially, what the burden of breasts is and
- 6:29Speaker 3: physically and the good.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Things that they do.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I mean, it was really interesting. I used the book
- 6:35Speaker 3: on tape for that one. He's read by the author
- 6:37Speaker 3: and she was great. So that is one I think
- 6:40Speaker 3: our listeners would enjoy it too.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Okay, great, Well that was a good little book.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Book round up, Book round up. Well are you ready
- 6:50Speaker 2: for a follow up?
- 6:52Speaker 4: Yes?
- 6:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:54Speaker 3: This is from our Penis Toutcher episode Penis What Penis Toucher?
- 6:57Speaker 2: Remember our guy guy.
- 7:01Speaker 3: So I sent her a bunch of recommendations from listeners.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Most of would you tell it?
- 7:05Speaker 1: Also to get a shotgun so the next time he
- 7:07Speaker 1: touches his benis, you can just fucking shoot him.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Oh, I have a result that's even better than that.
- 7:11Speaker 3: So most of them were about getting different kinds of underwear,
- 7:14Speaker 3: which we talked about.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Janelle said, Duluth Trading Company.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I make special garments for men that have this issue
- 7:20Speaker 3: called bullpin, which I just think these names for these
- 7:22Speaker 3: are hilarious.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Dave said, as.
- 7:25Speaker 3: A decently well endowed gay man, I feel this is
- 7:27Speaker 3: my annual good deed for straight men. There are several
- 7:29Speaker 3: companies most popular among gay men that design underwear that
- 7:33Speaker 3: createle all the goodies in a way that keeps them
- 7:35Speaker 3: in a position to avoid the uncomfortable flop to the
- 7:37Speaker 3: wrong side or split down there.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Wait a second, I need these underwear. Where do you
- 7:41Speaker 1: have the brand? Can we forget it's again?
- 7:43Speaker 2: So he says. My favorite brand is called Andrew Christian.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Andrew Christian, Yes, he said, you'll see on their website
- 7:49Speaker 3: that is heavily marketed toward gay men. But I recommended
- 7:52Speaker 3: them to a bunch of my straight buddies, and not
- 7:54Speaker 3: only do they love them, but so do their partners.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Okay, I was at Wimbledon with a friend of mine,
- 7:58Speaker 1: an old friend of mine. His name is Max Eyes
- 8:00Speaker 1: Andbud he works at IMG. I think he runs all
- 8:02Speaker 1: of IMG, like tennis sports whatever. Anyway, he married this
- 8:06Speaker 1: girl that I went to high school with her name
- 8:07Speaker 1: is Farakats. She was the prettiest girl in high school.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Max Eisenbud landed her. He looks like mister potato head.
- 8:13Speaker 1: So the fact that he landed Fara CAATs is ridiculous.
- 8:15Speaker 1: So whenever I see him, I'm like, oh my god,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I can't believe she married you. You know, obviously he
- 8:20Speaker 1: does really well for a living she had. She's divorced.
- 8:23Speaker 1: He's divorced, so they came together and they raised their
- 8:25Speaker 1: kids together. And he's a good husband. I probably probably
- 8:28Speaker 1: not great, but anyway, I was with him during Wimbledon
- 8:32Speaker 1: a lot at the IMG House and I would come
- 8:34Speaker 1: there and when one morning it was very alarming because
- 8:36Speaker 1: he was sitting he posts up in this corner because
- 8:38Speaker 1: he's like the king.
- 8:39Speaker 4: He acts like a king, and his.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Legs are spread open, and I'm like, oh my god,
- 8:44Speaker 1: your fucking balls are cumongous and spread out.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Max. I'm like, this is so revolting.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'm like, what are you wearing a skirt underneath your pants?
- 8:54Speaker 4: Like what are you doing to.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Contain your balls? Yeah?
- 8:57Speaker 4: And he's like, I don't know, just a really big balls.
- 8:59Speaker 4: I'm like, but you need to contain them.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Like I'm like whatever you're doing, you need to get
- 9:03Speaker 1: a pair of underwear that embrace them, that wrap them
- 9:07Speaker 1: up and split them so that one is on one
- 9:09Speaker 1: side and one is on the other side, and that
- 9:11Speaker 1: none of them are shooting down like a barrel.
- 9:13Speaker 2: No, you shouldn't be seeing that. I don't understand.
- 9:15Speaker 4: And boxer shorts are not. That's not underwear.
- 9:17Speaker 1: That is not As you get older, you need to
- 9:19Speaker 1: reel them in and you need to contain them. You
- 9:22Speaker 1: can't just let them go. Yeah, I mean, what is
- 9:24Speaker 1: the point of boxer shorts. I don't understand. They're not
- 9:26Speaker 1: doing anything.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Keep you away from your jeans, I guess.
- 9:29Speaker 4: And the man not for the outsiders.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we need something for the outsiders, people who are
- 9:34Speaker 1: viewing you. If you're gonna sit there with your legs
- 9:36Speaker 1: wide open, then you need to contain your balls in
- 9:38Speaker 1: some sort of net situation.
- 9:40Speaker 4: So can you please forward the company to Karen so
- 9:43Speaker 4: she can order Max Eyes and Bud. Let me tell Karen, right.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's Andrew Christian and he says one of the
- 9:48Speaker 3: collections is called Trophy Boy, So that is what we'll
- 9:51Speaker 3: buy for Max Eies and Bud.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Hold on, let me just send Karen a voice memo Karen,
- 9:56Speaker 1: Catherine sending you a link for these underpants. Can you
- 9:59Speaker 1: get like a pack for max eies and budd at
- 10:01Speaker 1: a IMG and send them to him from Chelsea. Make
- 10:04Speaker 1: sure there are like six or seven of pairs, like
- 10:06Speaker 1: a variety pack.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Thank you a week Day of the Week pack.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:10Speaker 3: And so I sent these along to Janet, who's Bill's wife,
- 10:13Speaker 3: and she said, Hi, Catherine, I'm humbled by this advice
- 10:17Speaker 3: and wonderful community.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Thanks for forwarding the advice. FYI.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Whenever Bill adjusts himself and doesn't realize it, my code
- 10:24Speaker 3: word for him now is Chelsea.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Oh that's that's really heartwarming.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that. I thought that was great.
- 10:32Speaker 4: I love entering marriages like in a confrontational way. I'm
- 10:37Speaker 4: also keeping marriages together. Yeah you know, yeah, I mean
- 10:40Speaker 4: that we're helping them.
- 10:41Speaker 3: We split people up when they should be split up,
- 10:42Speaker 3: and then we be getting together when they.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Should be well, wrapping up. This is us wrapping up
- 10:47Speaker 4: by guys. We'll see you like.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Oh.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I added a second show in West Hampton August twenty first.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Now I'm performing in West Hampton and August twenty second,
- 10:53Speaker 1: I'm performing in West Hampton. So go to Chelseahandler dot

- 11:02Speaker 5: just because I felt like we need a little bit
- 11:04Speaker 5: more laughter and a little bit more.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Medicine for the end of the year.
- 11:08Speaker 5: And I was wrapping things up, but I thought, maybe
