- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time to break free and wake up to your potential.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Download Mindset Daily Motivation today and start taking control of
- 0:08Speaker 1: your life.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Why do I think people are drawn to advice telling
- 0:14Speaker 2: them to do hard things? Because I think any person,
- 0:20Speaker 2: any human realizes that if you want some kind of
- 0:23Speaker 2: a good outcome, you're going to have to work hard
- 0:25Speaker 2: for it. And if you don't work hard for something,
- 0:30Speaker 2: you're not going to get an outcome that's really worth much.
- 0:34Speaker 3: One day that thing's going to come up.
- 0:36Speaker 4: And if you're not constantly performing without purpose, you're not
- 0:40Speaker 4: going to be ready when the time comes. It's this
- 0:43Speaker 4: magical thing, purpose, that we're all looking for. But we
- 0:46Speaker 4: don't take a second to realize the purpose never leaves
- 0:50Speaker 4: us because the very purpose is you.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You are always the purpose.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Motivation is a feeling that comes and goes and it
- 0:59Speaker 2: doesn't matter whether it's there or not. Discipline is infinitely
- 1:02Speaker 2: more important. So no matter how you feel, get up
- 1:05Speaker 2: and do what you're supposed to do.
- 1:07Speaker 1: That's it. And that's discipline. That's not motivation.
- 1:09Speaker 2: If you only did what you were supposed to do
- 1:12Speaker 2: when you were motivated to do it, that's leaving it
- 1:14Speaker 2: to chance.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But if you're disciplined, you go do what you're supposed
- 1:17Speaker 1: to do. That's the way it works.
- 1:20Speaker 5: When I realized that I can learn through hard work,
- 1:24Speaker 5: And I can beat the valedictorian in school, but I
- 1:27Speaker 5: got put in 10 hours more.
- 1:29Speaker 3: A day than he does.
- 1:30Speaker 4: You know what kind of strength comes from that?
- 1:34Speaker 5: When you're sitting down and that valedictorian's waiting for an hour,
- 1:37Speaker 5: and you know I caught you.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I caught you.
- 1:41Speaker 5: And I am dumb. But I have the work ethic
- 1:45Speaker 5: to catch you.
- 1:46Speaker 6: That's where David Gaga's got really invented.
- 1:49Speaker 3: You know, what's the future? It's tomorrow. The future is, oh,
- 1:53Speaker 3: the weekend. That's the future.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You don't realize, oh, you can actually set yourself up.
- 1:57Speaker 2: What you're doing today is connected to the future. This
- 2:01Speaker 2: isn't working. The way you are doing this is not working.
- 2:04Speaker 2: And I told you this and I told you that
- 2:05Speaker 2: and I told you the other thing. And what I'm
- 2:07Speaker 2: trying to say is that you need to change this
- 2:10Speaker 2: part of your game.
- 2:15Speaker 7: I've been hearing Goggins stories about his three times through.
- 2:20Speaker 7: I mean, he was not due to quitting, right? I mean,
- 2:23Speaker 7: his mentality was prepared to take him further than his
- 2:26Speaker 7: body was twice. You are ready to do the thing
- 2:30Speaker 7: and you may have done everything perfectly. And there's something
- 2:35Speaker 7: outside of your control in your physiology that said, no,
- 2:40Speaker 7: you don't get to do this.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Yeah. The SEAL training is not fair at all. It's
- 2:45Speaker 1: not fair at all.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And I'm sure there's good guys that don't make it
- 2:52Speaker 2: because they just physically can't handle it.
- 2:55Speaker 1: For the most part, if you don't make it, it's
- 2:58Speaker 1: because you didn't make it.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Listen, it's not what I want.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I'm back down. I don't have a problem with that.
- 3:04Speaker 3: It's just the way it is.
- 3:06Speaker 7: There's way more people that ring the bell than have
- 3:08Speaker 7: blown out knees.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It's probably 85-90% that ring out.
- 3:14Speaker 4: I spent so much time, people always like, why do
- 3:17Speaker 4: you run so much? You know, you try to get
- 3:18Speaker 4: in shape. No, the things I do in life, most
- 3:22Speaker 4: of life, you're alone. You may have a whole support
- 3:26Speaker 4: crew around you, but up here, you're alone. Most of
- 3:31Speaker 4: the stuff I do, I'm training for that one, those moments,
- 3:35Speaker 4: those moments when I was at mile.
- 3:37Speaker 5: 70 and I had 30 more miles to go and
- 3:38Speaker 5: I had, I crapped up my back and peed blood
- 3:41Speaker 5: down my leg at 30 miles to go.
- 3:44Speaker 1: There's only so much someone cheering can do for you.
- 3:47Speaker 5: When you start to dive back in the cellar of
- 3:49Speaker 5: your mind and you're pulling out all these tactics, all
- 3:55Speaker 5: these mental tactics to get through this 30.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Miles when you're in the worst shape of your life
- 3:59Speaker 4: and no one's coming to save you and you get
- 4:02Speaker 4: through that. I want to go back there.
- 4:07Speaker 6: When I got done with that race, I laid in
- 4:09Speaker 6: the tub and my ex-wife helped me get up the stairs.
- 4:12Speaker 4: And I'm laying in this tub And Coca-Cola's coming out
- 4:16Speaker 4: of me. Just looks like dirt. And she's a nurse.
- 4:20Speaker 5: And she's like, she's freaking out. And she puts the
- 4:23Speaker 5: shower on me. And I'm looking at her. And all
- 4:26Speaker 5: I want to do is call the race director of
- 4:28Speaker 5: Badwater and say, I qualify for the race. And she's thinking,
- 4:32Speaker 5: we got to go to the hospital. So she's calling
- 4:34Speaker 5: my mom. And my mom has a doctor friend of
- 4:36Speaker 5: hers who's over.
- 4:38Speaker 4: And they're freaking out.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And I said, everybody, just shut up.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Wow. Shut up.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I'm in the worst pain in my entire life. And
- 4:45Speaker 5: no one would ever understand this.
- 4:46Speaker 6: No one.
- 4:47Speaker 5: When you've gone that deep inside yourself and all those
- 4:51Speaker 5: feelings of pain that I had, I was in the
- 4:53Speaker 5: worst pain of my life ever.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And some of you think, man, you're just crazy.
- 5:00Speaker 6: No.
- 5:01Speaker 5: When you've done that and you've figured out so much
- 5:06Speaker 5: on your own and all that pain and discomfort I
- 5:10Speaker 5: had in that tub laying there Passing out everything was
- 5:14Speaker 5: confirmation of what I just figured out. I just figured
- 5:17Speaker 5: out the code.
- 5:21Speaker 4: You have to be willing to go there.
- 5:24Speaker 1: You have to be willing to really go there. Not surface.
- 5:27Speaker 5: I don't live on the surface of anything. Surface is
- 5:30Speaker 5: what got me where I was at. It got me
- 5:32Speaker 5: from 175 pounds to 300 pounds. Telling everybody I'm good.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I don't give a damn.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I'm good.
- 5:39Speaker 1: No, they're hollow words. A lot of us speak in
- 5:43Speaker 1: hollow words. I used to speak in hollow words. I
- 5:47Speaker 1: don't do it anymore.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Everything that comes out of my mouth has substance.
- 5:52Speaker 3: It's real.
- 5:55Speaker 1: We all have these feelings in our bodies, in our minds,
- 5:57Speaker 1: in our souls.
- 5:59Speaker 4: I act on mine.
- 6:00Speaker 5: A lot of us who are afraid of something, we
- 6:02Speaker 5: allow our minds to choose the path that leads resistance
- 6:05Speaker 5: so we.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Go a different route.
- 6:07Speaker 4: I'm afraid of something that's telling me you.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Must do this thing.
- 6:10Speaker 1: You must do that.
- 6:11Speaker 4: You have to go that way. And most of us
- 6:15Speaker 4: don't understand that mentality.
- 6:17Speaker 2: So I think there's some inherent characteristic of a person
- 6:20Speaker 2: that your environment plays a role, but it can be
- 6:26Speaker 2: overcome by determination. And I think you probably have a
- 6:28Speaker 2: lot more control over what you do in your life
- 6:30Speaker 2: than your background does.
- 6:33Speaker 7: The fact that you get to forge whatever the path
- 6:37Speaker 7: is that you want to go forward. Like that to
- 6:38Speaker 7: me is, especially as someone that, like I say, Maybe
- 6:41Speaker 7: you grew up feeling a little bit helpless. The fact
- 6:44Speaker 7: that you realize, hang on, if I put this amount
- 6:47Speaker 7: of work in and I dedicate myself and I'm committed
- 6:50Speaker 7: and so on and so forth, the fact that you
- 6:52Speaker 7: can come out the other side of that and realize
- 6:54Speaker 7: that it has real world returns to you is phenomenal.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that kind of recognition is what allows people to
- 7:01Speaker 2: move on in life and take control of their life
- 7:03Speaker 2: and make things happen.
- 7:05Speaker 4: That is why if people can make up a mission statement,
- 7:09Speaker 4: an ethos in which they want to live by. And
- 7:12Speaker 4: every morning you wake up, you hold yourself accountable to
- 7:15Speaker 4: that mission. Not a company, it's your own. Make up
- 7:19Speaker 4: your own mission statement. What do you want to be
- 7:22Speaker 4: in life? And once you do that, now you can
- 7:25Speaker 4: work with somebody to get better. You can work with yourself.
- 7:27Speaker 3: To get better.
- 7:28Speaker 4: But until you know what you want to stand for,
- 7:32Speaker 4: you will always just be sitting down.
- 7:34Speaker 1: You'll never stand for anything. The world's too noisy.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Your mind needs quiet.
- 7:41Speaker 1: For you to find who you are. People ask, what's
- 7:43Speaker 1: my purpose? Why am I here?
- 7:46Speaker 5: You're not going to find it nowadays unless you lock
- 7:48Speaker 5: yourself in a quiet room in your mind. And when
- 7:52Speaker 5: you are constantly reflecting on who you are, where you've been,
- 7:56Speaker 5: the journey you've gone through, the journey you're going to
- 7:58Speaker 5: continue going through, the feeling's always there.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You don't allow the world to.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Pull you so fast that you forget that You don't
- 8:08Speaker 5: allow yourself to pull you so fast that you forget.
- 8:10Speaker 4: It's not about staying in that moment.
- 8:13Speaker 5: It's about you want to get to the point where
- 8:15Speaker 5: that feeling follows you like breathing. Because it's part of
- 8:21Speaker 5: your life, part of your DNA. But it's made. Like
- 8:24Speaker 5: these calluses on my hands right now, they're made.
- 8:27Speaker 3: They are now on my brain.
- 8:29Speaker 1: This is now a.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Part of me. So you have to detach from your
- 8:35Speaker 3: emotions constantly.
- 8:36Speaker 2: You have to get control of them and you have
- 8:37Speaker 2: to make sure that you lead your men in the
- 8:39Speaker 2: right direction so they don't do something that is not
- 8:43Speaker 2: the right thing to do. And for me, like the
- 8:46Speaker 2: minute I feel some sort of anger, some sort of jealousy,
- 8:51Speaker 2: some sort of frustration, most.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Of the time I go, oh, you're getting mad. That's
- 8:56Speaker 3: your ego. That's your, that's, you're getting emotional about this.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Take a step back and listen to what the other
- 9:02Speaker 3: person is saying. Take a step back. and try and
- 9:04Speaker 3: see it from their perspective.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Take a step back and try and understand what they're
- 9:09Speaker 2: trying to say.
- 9:12Speaker 4: What's amazing about the human mind is that it becomes
- 9:16Speaker 4: your new norm. Like, to think that I can run
- 9:20Speaker 4: 200 miles, 240 miles, and that becomes.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Like running 50.
- 9:24Speaker 4: I never thought that was possible. This is why I'm
- 9:28Speaker 4: always pushing that limit because I know that within pushing
- 9:32Speaker 4: these limits, there's always more.
- 9:36Speaker 2: There's going to be things in your life that you
- 9:37Speaker 2: don't have control over. Or much of the time people say,
- 9:42Speaker 2: that's not my fault. There's nothing I can do about that. When,
- 9:45Speaker 2: when there's something that's not right, when there's something going wrong,
- 9:50Speaker 2: it's something that I, it's a mistake that I made.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I did something wrong because I can just about guarantee
- 9:55Speaker 2: that everything.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Is my fault.
- 9:57Speaker 2: As far as, as like, as a individual person, there's
- 10:02Speaker 2: going to be things in your life that you don't
- 10:03Speaker 2: have control over. You know, one of the, one of
- 10:05Speaker 2: the early questions that I got asked about this, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 2: like for instance, someone gets a terrible disease and, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 2: or their kids gets, gets a terrible disease, a random
- 10:18Speaker 2: disease that's, through no fault of anyone, the kid gets
- 10:22Speaker 2: sick or the person gets sick. And no, there's nothing
- 10:25Speaker 2: you can do about that. What you can take ownership
- 10:26Speaker 2: though is how you respond to that situation. And so
- 10:29Speaker 2: that's what you have to do.
- 10:30Speaker 1: There's things that you can control. There's things you can't control.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Now I will tell you that human beings can control
- 10:36Speaker 2: a lot more than they think they can. And oftentimes
- 10:40Speaker 2: it's pretty easy just to say, Oh, that's not me.
- 10:42Speaker 1: That's not on me.
- 10:43Speaker 2: And I think that's, that's the whole Genesis of the
- 10:46Speaker 2: idea of extreme ownership is most of the time Or
- 10:49Speaker 2: much of the time, people say, that's not my fault.
- 10:52Speaker 2: There's nothing I can do about that. And more often
- 10:55Speaker 2: than people think, there is something you can do about it.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And it is your fault.
- 11:01Speaker 3: What was the greatest lesson your mom taught you growing up?
- 11:05Speaker 5: She doesn't know how much she taught me because she
- 11:09Speaker 5: wasn't much in the teaching mode.
- 11:11Speaker 1: My dad took her soul.
- 11:13Speaker 5: But what I did as a young kid is I
- 11:15Speaker 5: observed everybody. I wasn't really smart in the books, but
- 11:20Speaker 5: I was real smart when it came to life. And
- 11:24Speaker 5: I was able to sit back and watch her mistakes.
- 11:26Speaker 5: I was able to see how she struggled through life
- 11:29Speaker 5: and how I don't want to struggle through life. She
- 11:34Speaker 5: never picked me up. The biggest thing she did for me,
- 11:36Speaker 5: and this is honest to God truth, and she doesn't
- 11:38Speaker 5: even know she did it.
- 11:40Speaker 4: When I would bust my ass and I would fail,
- 11:43Speaker 4: and I was at the bottom of the sewer, she.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Never picked me up.
- 11:48Speaker 5: She never gave me that cookie and said, hey, son,
- 11:49Speaker 5: you know, it's going to be okay.
- 11:52Speaker 1: She didn't have time for that.
- 11:55Speaker 5: And sometimes she gets upset when I talk about my
- 11:57Speaker 5: past because it paints her out to be not the
- 12:00Speaker 5: best mom.
- 12:01Speaker 4: If I had any kind of mom in that kind
- 12:03Speaker 4: of environment, I would have never made it.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Because she forced me for every reason.
- 12:09Speaker 5: She forced me to better figure this out or you're
- 12:14Speaker 5: going to be a statistic.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Wow.
- 12:16Speaker 5: And this is something that she didn't sit down and
- 12:17Speaker 5: tell me. I realized this. This is the world that
- 12:21Speaker 5: is in front of me. And what most people do
- 12:24Speaker 5: is they see this world and they look at it
- 12:27Speaker 5: as an excuse to get out of it. I started
- 12:30Speaker 5: looking at it as this is the ultimate training ground
- 12:36Speaker 5: for the rest of my life.
- 12:38Speaker 6: I have all these valuable lessons because if you look
- 12:41Speaker 6: out in the world right now today, it's not a
- 12:43Speaker 6: nice place. But I'm very prepared for it. I'm prepared
- 12:47Speaker 6: for it. I'm prepared for all the failure.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Coming my way.
- 12:50Speaker 2: And what I realized was that the guys that were
- 12:53Speaker 2: working harder, for the most part, were good SEALs.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Now, look, there's just some people that are just way talented.
- 13:00Speaker 3: They'd show up, you know.
- 13:02Speaker 2: three minutes before a run or three minutes before we
- 13:05Speaker 2: do a shooting competition and they.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Could just walk through it no problem right and
- 13:09Speaker 2: That's great for them it wasn't me i wasn't i'm
- 13:12Speaker 2: not that great at anything but i saw other guys
- 13:15Speaker 2: that might not be a great at anything either but
- 13:16Speaker 2: they worked hard they showed up to work early they
- 13:20Speaker 2: did the drills that they were supposed to do they
- 13:22Speaker 2: had discipline
