- 2:29Speaker 3: talks about her relationship with running and how for her
- 2:32Speaker 3: leasing up and getting out there on the road is
- 2:35Speaker 3: her opportunity not to think at all, and man, that
- 2:39Speaker 3: is something I can really really relate to, especially relevant
- 2:43Speaker 3: to today's episode when things feel like they are going

- 3:58Speaker 3: waiting for with that.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Let's get to it. Let's get to a hurdling.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Today, I am sitting down with the one and only
- 4:17Speaker 3: Taysha Adams.
- 4:18Speaker 2: How are you doing, Tasha? I'm so good? How are you?
- 4:22Speaker 2: I'm so good.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I'm so happy that we were finally able to make
- 4:25Speaker 3: this happen.
- 4:26Speaker 1: You have nothing going on at all? None, I mean nothing.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I was actually waiting for this phone call forever now,
- 4:33Speaker 1: so thank you for finally calling. I've been waiting for you.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Oh my god, I literally died when you not only
- 4:41Speaker 3: hosted the MTV Movie and TV Awards and then like
- 4:45Speaker 3: it felt like within a snap, you were on a
- 4:48Speaker 3: rooftop in New York City doing a workout.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I mean, that's how life goes, right, But I'm not
- 4:54Speaker 1: gonna lie.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I swear.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I blinked off of that stage and the next thing
- 4:58Speaker 1: I was on top of a roache. I couldn't believe
- 5:00Speaker 1: I was in New York City. But hey, we're.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Whisked into a car, onto a plane, onto another car.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Like maybe you slept? Did you sleep? Was there sleep?
- 5:08Speaker 1: There is no sleep? Team, no sleep here, team, no sleep.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Well it is totally appropriate that that's what we started
- 5:15Speaker 3: off talking about today, because you and I are here
- 5:18Speaker 3: to chat about how you fit it all in when
- 5:21Speaker 3: it comes to your health and wellness. It's so important,
- 5:24Speaker 3: and if anybody knows a thing or two about how
- 5:26Speaker 3: to make it all work, it's you. We're also chatting
- 5:29Speaker 3: today shortly after your live Uplifted a six campaign comes out,
- 5:35Speaker 3: And honestly, the opening line in this is truly like
- 5:38Speaker 3: something I can totally relate to. You say, I actually
- 5:42Speaker 3: try not to think when I'm running, just slow down
- 5:45Speaker 3: and stay present. So kick us off a little bit.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Talk to me about your relationship with movement. How has
- 5:51Speaker 3: that evolved since you were little?
- 5:53Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Okay, Well, first of all, I was actually forced into
- 5:57Speaker 1: movement by my father.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I'm not gonna a lot.
- 6:01Speaker 1: It wasn't like being active was something I probably tried
- 6:04Speaker 1: to avoid at all cost. But my dad was adamant
- 6:07Speaker 1: about us all being into sports, and he really kind
- 6:10Speaker 1: of set a goal and precedence for us about being
- 6:13Speaker 1: active and saying, okay, you needed to at least jog
- 6:16Speaker 1: two laps around the block before like the end of
- 6:20Speaker 1: the day. And so we were so used to being
- 6:22Speaker 1: active at a very young age, but also my love
- 6:25Speaker 1: for running kind of really developed in high school when
- 6:29Speaker 1: again my father was like, you're joining the cross country
- 6:32Speaker 1: team and I said, you know what, I don't think
- 6:33Speaker 1: I really have.
- 6:34Speaker 2: To do that. He said, here you are, Yes, you're going.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And I'm so happy he did that, because I think
- 6:41Speaker 1: my body craves that type of movement, and it's really
- 6:45Speaker 1: just I'm my best self when I am actually actively moving.
- 6:49Speaker 1: It just helps all around, helps everything. Such an intricate
- 6:52Speaker 1: part to I think being successful, and I.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Love what you said there. It was just like two
- 6:58Speaker 3: laps around the block, right. I think that starting smaller,
- 7:01Speaker 3: like having some grace with yourself to the fact that
- 7:04Speaker 3: your everyday movement doesn't need to be going out and
- 7:07Speaker 3: running a marathon, is so integral.
- 7:09Speaker 2: O egoshit is because this is the thing. It seems.
- 7:13Speaker 1: It's just like cleaning your house, Like, Okay, you know
- 7:15Speaker 1: your whole home is a mess, but like if you
- 7:18Speaker 1: just start in one small, little corner, like it feels
- 7:20Speaker 1: actually like you're very accomplished, you got done, and you're
- 7:23Speaker 1: almost kind of motivated to clean a little bit more
- 7:25Speaker 1: as opposed to being like, no, my house is terrible
- 7:28Speaker 1: and I can't start and it's overwhelming. Running is the
- 7:31Speaker 1: same way, or just being active is the same way.
- 7:33Speaker 1: It just five minutes, ten minutes, And I was actually
- 7:36Speaker 1: just saying this, the more you do that, it actually
- 7:40Speaker 1: is shocking, like how much more you can take on
- 7:44Speaker 1: and how much more you're excited to do a little
- 7:45Speaker 1: bit more, a little bit more. Next thing, you know,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you're running twenty thirty forty five minutes and you're like, yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 1: I just crushed six miles.
- 7:51Speaker 2: What's the next thing?
- 7:52Speaker 3: You know, you're signing up for a marathon. Did you
- 7:54Speaker 3: ever think that you would run a full marathon?
- 7:58Speaker 1: I mean, again, I love running, but yeah, no, no,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I never thought that. And the fact that I actually
- 8:05Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie mile twenty, I was like, I
- 8:09Speaker 1: don't know if I could do this, And then obviously
- 8:12Speaker 1: you always think about your why, and I was like, okay, fine,
- 8:14Speaker 1: let's let's freaking go six more miles.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I got this.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Six more miles is nothing when you're out there for
- 8:20Speaker 3: that long. So for you, what did running that marathon
- 8:24Speaker 3: teach you?
- 8:25Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it was the most emotional, gratifying, but
- 8:31Speaker 1: also painful experience I've ever been through. Truthfully, it taught
- 8:35Speaker 1: me so much about myself. It taught me that I'm
- 8:37Speaker 1: resilient and I can really do anything I put my
- 8:41Speaker 1: mind to. But also, my body is truly incredible. It
- 8:47Speaker 1: is truly incredible. My mind can tell me like, no,
- 8:51Speaker 1: you know, this is something worth being anxious about or
- 8:54Speaker 1: being upset about, or being angry about. But my body's
- 8:56Speaker 1: like now we're gonna keep going, like watch this, watch
- 8:58Speaker 1: this happen. And I think, just really relying on that
- 9:03Speaker 1: and really just trying to learn to be supportive of
- 9:07Speaker 1: this vessel that we are living in. I think it
- 9:10Speaker 1: could just make a world of a difference. And I
- 9:11Speaker 1: just I don't know, I just learned so much about myself.
- 9:14Speaker 1: It was really amazing.
- 9:15Speaker 3: We kickstarted this off talking about how important and great
- 9:19Speaker 3: it is to fit in time for well being and movement.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Talk to us a little bit about how you do
- 9:24Speaker 3: make it a priority with your busy schedule, aside from
- 9:27Speaker 3: being okay with handling it all in that smaller time increments.
- 9:32Speaker 1: First of all, I don't think if I worked out,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I could do all that I'm doing if it didn't
- 9:36Speaker 1: work out. I mean, it's such an it's a huge
- 9:40Speaker 1: part of my day. In fact, I don't skip it.
- 9:43Speaker 1: That's one thing that I really do not negotiate on
- 9:47Speaker 1: because it's what jump starts my mind. It's what jump
- 9:51Speaker 1: starts like my creativity, because it's so true. If I
- 9:54Speaker 1: didn't have an alarm clock and I didn't have something
- 9:56Speaker 1: to do this second I get out of bed, I
- 9:59Speaker 1: could lay there all day and there's nothing wrong with that.
- 10:01Speaker 1: In fact, they did that yesterday. It was a Sunday,
- 10:03Speaker 1: you know, that's my little rest day. But the first
- 10:06Speaker 1: thing I do is I roll out of bed, put
- 10:08Speaker 1: on those workout clothes, because you don't have an excuse
- 10:11Speaker 1: after that, drink your coffee and then go, because if
- 10:14Speaker 1: once you're dressed and you're ready, you have less of
- 10:17Speaker 1: an excuse to be like, well, you know, you almost
- 10:21Speaker 1: feel bad that it's already on, Like why not be active?
- 10:24Speaker 3: Are you set your workout clothes aside the night before
- 10:28Speaker 3: type of person?
- 10:29Speaker 1: Oh no, girl, that's way too much work. Now now
- 10:30Speaker 1: you're making it complicated. Okay, listen. I have all of
- 10:34Speaker 1: them in my drawers. They're all coupled up my sports,
- 10:38Speaker 1: but in the pan for matching sets. I love a
- 10:41Speaker 1: good matching set, and it basically depends on what color
- 10:44Speaker 1: I want for the day.
- 10:45Speaker 3: What you've done is actually make it easier for yourself
- 10:48Speaker 3: because you only keep workout clothes that you know that
- 10:50Speaker 3: you want to put on your body exactly. I would
- 10:52Speaker 3: say like paring down is probably a really helpful tip
- 10:56Speaker 3: to make sure that you're not standing there in this
- 10:58Speaker 3: indecisive molise.
- 11:00Speaker 1: No, it's true, because then you think too much, you
- 11:02Speaker 1: give it too much time, you give it too much
- 11:04Speaker 1: opportunity to be like, Okay, yeah, I'm not doing this anymore.
- 11:07Speaker 2: You wear really cute workout clothes.
- 11:08Speaker 1: That's half of it, actually, because you want to put
- 11:10Speaker 1: on your body, you want to feel good. It makes
- 11:12Speaker 1: you confident, and you want to go show it off,
- 11:14Speaker 1: Like why not.
- 11:15Speaker 3: There's actually a research study that found that people that
- 11:18Speaker 3: feel better about the clothing that they put on while
- 11:21Speaker 3: they're working out are more motivated to stay at it
- 11:24Speaker 3: for longer.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And I fully, fully believe that, and I'm part of that.
- 11:30Speaker 2: If you're listening to this, I'll link that study in
- 11:32Speaker 2: the show notes.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Okay, so beyond loving what you're wearing when you work
- 11:36Speaker 3: out and getting it done first thing in the morning,
- 11:38Speaker 3: have you shifted in the types of workouts that you're doing,
- 11:42Speaker 3: especially when you're kind of on the move all the time.
- 11:46Speaker 1: So the one thing that's really great about running is
- 11:49Speaker 1: that most hotels have treadmills. But also you don't need
- 11:52Speaker 1: a lot of a workout equipment. The other thing that
- 11:54Speaker 1: I do in addition to running is I love to
- 11:57Speaker 1: wait with In fact, I zoom and do those weightlift
- 12:01Speaker 1: workouts every Tuesday and Thursday, even if I'm on the road.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Those two things are imperative to me. I also love pilates.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Pilates is amazing, It's so good for you. But the
- 12:11Speaker 1: thing is my trainer is like Platatez doesn't build a button. Honey,
- 12:13Speaker 1: we're on the butt mission. So yeah, we have running,
- 12:16Speaker 1: we have plates, and we do weightlifting.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Beyond choosing a workout that excites you, I think that's
- 12:21Speaker 3: really helpful. Do you often involve other people in your
- 12:25Speaker 3: fitness or is this something that you're undergoing solo.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I think workout classes are great because it helps keep
- 12:30Speaker 1: you motivated and kind of like in check and with
- 12:33Speaker 1: weightlifting idevil I love to use a trainer, but I
- 12:36Speaker 1: am actually a girl that loves to run solo. I
- 12:40Speaker 1: don't like to talk. I don't like to think. I
- 12:43Speaker 1: will listen to music like as background music just because
- 12:46Speaker 1: like that kind of motivates me, like you to go
- 12:48Speaker 1: faster or slower, kind of would go with the beat.
- 12:50Speaker 1: But I'm really into a solo workout mission.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah, because that's like the time for you to give
- 12:56Speaker 2: back to you exactly.
- 12:58Speaker 1: And this is the thing. I I'm a people I
- 13:00Speaker 1: surround myself with people all the time. I'm constantly traveling.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I'm constantly here, constantly there. Sometimes you just want to
- 13:05Speaker 1: be alone, and I think that we forget that it's
- 13:08Speaker 1: okay to be alone and sit in a little bit
- 13:11Speaker 1: of quietness.
- 13:13Speaker 3: So oh yeah, yeah outside of moving your body, holse,
- 13:18Speaker 3: are you taking care of it? Mmmm?
- 13:21Speaker 1: Therapy, I love myself some therapy. Therapy has been such
- 13:26Speaker 1: a game changer for me. I really honed in on
- 13:31Speaker 1: that journey this past year and like I said, workouts
- 13:35Speaker 1: and that is something that's like probably a non negotiable.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I've never really moved it around. And if I do
- 13:40Speaker 1: move it around, it's like one of my first text
- 13:42Speaker 1: messages I said, I'm like, okay, I have to do
- 13:44Speaker 1: this meeting.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I'm texting a therapist, like we got to change it.
- 13:47Speaker 1: So it's that really and you'll relate to this In
- 13:53Speaker 1: New York. I love going to dinner or doing something
- 13:55Speaker 1: by myself outside. I love reading a book, going out
- 13:58Speaker 1: to a bench reading a book by myself. But to dinner,
- 14:01Speaker 1: buy myself, want and dine and treat myself. It's like
- 14:04Speaker 1: this really weird.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Thing.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I guess people don't don't normally do it New York.
- 14:11Speaker 1: It's very normal and it's so funny. I was just
- 14:14Speaker 1: recently orange kindting, like I to detererm by myself and
- 14:16Speaker 1: like everyone's staring at me because I don't know why,
- 14:18Speaker 1: but like, not a lot of people do it, but
- 14:20Speaker 1: it's such a freeing experience.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Are they staring at you because you're Tasha Adams or
- 14:26Speaker 3: are they.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Right? I never actually thought about that, nah, because I'm
- 14:33Speaker 1: by myself.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Come on, I got to dinner by myself all the time,
- 14:36Speaker 3: and I don't know if everybody's Shoot.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Okay, we never thought about that one.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 14:43Speaker 1: No.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I love that for you and I do it too,
- 14:45Speaker 3: And I think that the reason why so many people
- 14:47Speaker 3: don't take the initiative to do stuff like that is
- 14:50Speaker 3: because exactly what you're saying, It's like it's not seen
- 14:53Speaker 3: all the time, so doing it it can be a
- 14:56Speaker 3: little bit uncomfortable. But once you get over that hurdle,
- 14:59Speaker 3: so to speak, and get into this place where you're like,
- 15:01Speaker 3: this is something I am doing for myself, it's such
- 15:04Speaker 3: a beautiful opportunity.
- 15:05Speaker 2: No, it really is. It really is.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And once you like really learn to appreciate it, you
- 15:10Speaker 1: don't want to change it up, Like you actually tell
- 15:12Speaker 1: your girlfriend's like, no, I'm actually going to din it
- 15:14Speaker 1: by myself tonight, and it's something that you really.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Look forward to.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Taking a break from today's episode to give some love
- 15:25Speaker 3: to my sponsors. First up, I want to talk to
- 15:28Speaker 3: you about my new morning routine, and that morning routine
- 15:32Speaker 3: starts with OPEN. I don't know if you've tried breathwork yet,
- 15:36Speaker 3: but I started about a month ago now with some
- 15:40Speaker 3: help from OPEN, and I cannot get enough. I sleep better,
- 15:45Speaker 3: I stress less, I have more energy and focus throughout
- 15:49Speaker 3: the day. And that's all because I am dedicating between
- 15:52Speaker 3: let's say three and ten ish minutes to breath work.
- 15:56Speaker 2: First thing, I.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Literally walk out of my room, I sit down on
- 16:01Speaker 3: my couch, I open my laptop, I turn on and
- 16:05Speaker 3: open breathwork session and I get right to it. Once
- 16:09Speaker 3: I'm done, I journal and that's when good Morning really
- 16:13Speaker 3: really gets into high gear. Honestly open in my mind,
- 16:17Speaker 3: it's different from all the other mindfulness apps out there.
- 16:20Speaker 2: You have got to try it with me.
- 16:21Speaker 3: They've got classes that are under ten minutes, so it's
- 16:24Speaker 3: super easy to stick with.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Plus, there are other really.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Great offerings ranging from on demand meditation, yoga, pilates, and
- 16:33Speaker 3: so much more. And depending of your timing when you
- 16:37Speaker 3: want to get in on some of these classes, you
- 16:39Speaker 3: can even get into one that is live. That's right
- 16:43Speaker 3: and in class live stream. It's still on my bucket list,
- 16:46Speaker 3: but I'm gonna make it happen.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I'm gonna make it happen this week.
- 16:49Speaker 3: So you know what, why don't we take a class together.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Open is giving Hurdle listeners thirty days free when you
- 16:56Speaker 3: visit with Open dot com slash Hurdle again. You can
- 17:00Speaker 3: join me on open by going to with openw ithop
- 17:05Speaker 3: e n dot com slash Hurdle.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Let me know what you think and I'll see you
- 17:10Speaker 2: in class.
- 17:11Speaker 3: I also want to give some love to my dear
- 17:14Speaker 3: friends at Gooder, maker of sunglasses that are perfect for
- 17:18Speaker 3: everything from a long run to running to catch the subway,
- 17:23Speaker 3: to running errands on the weekend. Gooder sunglasses are no slip,
- 17:28Speaker 3: no bounce, and all polarized. And I love how they're
- 17:32Speaker 3: both stylish and functional. I mean I never have to
- 17:35Speaker 3: think about them falling or slipping. My favorite favorite style
- 17:40Speaker 3: the Operation Blackout, a sleek looking aviator that just looks
- 17:45Speaker 3: chef's kiss perfect. But also a big big fan of
- 17:49Speaker 3: their nine dollars pore over. And if you want to
- 17:52Speaker 3: get something a little fun for summer, this is a
- 17:55Speaker 3: funny name, Electric Dinotopia Carnival.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I'm Syria.
- 18:01Speaker 3: You have got to check out so many of their
- 18:03Speaker 3: styles on their website for yourself. It is the perfect
- 18:06Speaker 3: time to snag yourself a new pair of Sunnies.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Plus they start.
- 18:09Speaker 3: At just twenty five dollars, which makes it a no brainer.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Of course, I have a coupon code for you, a
- 18:15Speaker 3: discount for you if you head on over to Gooder
- 18:17Speaker 3: dot com. That's good r dot com slash hurdle. You
- 18:22Speaker 3: get fifteen percent off today. Again, that is Gooder dot
- 18:26Speaker 3: com slash hurdle.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Use code hurdle one.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Five to get fifteen percent off your Gooder purchase today.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I love what you.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Said about needing to make sure that prioritizing your therapy
- 18:46Speaker 3: appointment is like the first thing you do when you
- 18:48Speaker 3: figure out there's some sort of a schedule shift. I'm
- 18:50Speaker 3: certainly the same way. I love a therapist that texts
- 18:53Speaker 3: is on speed dial. Right with that said, I feel
- 18:57Speaker 3: as though this is a really good point when it
- 18:59Speaker 3: comes into you fitting in your workouts and your movement,
- 19:02Speaker 3: even when things feel like there's balls flying everywhere.
- 19:05Speaker 2: You have to treat it like an important meeting.
- 19:08Speaker 3: You have to treat it like something that you know
- 19:09Speaker 3: that if you miss, it's going to be detrimental to
- 19:12Speaker 3: everything else that you want to get done.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Well. I mean it is again, this is part of
- 19:17Speaker 1: the reason why I was obsessed with this a six
- 19:19Speaker 1: running campaign, because it's sound, sound body. It can't just
- 19:24Speaker 1: be just as sound mind like you have, like they
- 19:26Speaker 1: both work together, and you have to nurture both of them.
- 19:29Speaker 1: And when you do kind of like give a little
- 19:32Speaker 1: bit of leeway and kind of like cut one thing,
- 19:35Speaker 1: guarantee you the next week you're going to have another
- 19:38Speaker 1: opportunity to whereas one of these things can be canceled
- 19:41Speaker 1: again and you're going to cancel it because you really
- 19:43Speaker 1: did it once and you went forward with your life
- 19:46Speaker 1: and you know you didn't really see the big change.
- 19:48Speaker 1: But once you do that every single week, guarantee you're
- 19:51Speaker 1: going to miss two workouts, you're going to miss three workouts,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you're going to miss more therapy, and it just you'll
- 19:56Speaker 1: get out of the habit. You cannot allow yourself to
- 20:00Speaker 1: fall into that.
- 20:01Speaker 3: I think also of importance is like having the grease
- 20:04Speaker 3: with yourself when you feel as though maybe you have
- 20:07Speaker 3: fallen into that rut, to allow yourself to get back
- 20:10Speaker 3: into movement in a way that might feel different than
- 20:13Speaker 3: a bit did before.
- 20:14Speaker 2: And that's okay, right, so true, so true.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Even if I am working out now two three times
- 20:20Speaker 1: a week, I like yesterday, I was like so toch
- 20:23Speaker 1: Nic yesterday two days it's Saturday. I was so tired,
- 20:26Speaker 1: and I'm like, why isn't this easy today? And your
- 20:28Speaker 1: body just it's ever evolving. It's it's tired, fatigued one days,
- 20:32Speaker 1: one day's gonna be ten times harder.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Doesn't mean you're out of.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Shape, or it doesn't mean that like you know, you
- 20:37Speaker 1: can't do it anymore. It's something you just have to
- 20:40Speaker 1: constantly work on. It's okay if you do fall off
- 20:42Speaker 1: the bandwagon, just again setting a small goal to get
- 20:45Speaker 1: back on. There is something you should highly praise yourself for.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Every day can be your day one.
- 20:51Speaker 3: And I'm interested to know when you started traveling more,
- 20:55Speaker 3: when life started to feel as though it was getting
- 20:57Speaker 3: a little bit hectic. Of course, like leading up to
- 20:59Speaker 3: even the filming of your season of the Bacherette, did
- 21:03Speaker 3: you go through a time period where you really related
- 21:06Speaker 3: to that idea, where maybe you weren't prioritizing your own
- 21:09Speaker 3: wellness as much.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Of course, of course, it's because you just think, like,
- 21:14Speaker 1: you know what, I can't do it all. I can't
- 21:15Speaker 1: do it all, and you get really stressed out and
- 21:18Speaker 1: you struggle and guess what's the first thing to go.
- 21:20Speaker 1: It's it's doing things for you. And I feel like
- 21:24Speaker 1: you're so busy about saying yes to everybody else, You're
- 21:28Speaker 1: so busy to making sure you're here, there, there, there,
- 21:30Speaker 1: and not worried about what's going to actually give you
- 21:33Speaker 1: or make you the best version of you and what
- 21:36Speaker 1: you actually need and putting yourself first even when you
- 21:38Speaker 1: are have a ton of obligations. I definitely fell.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Off that did you hit like a specific moment where
- 21:45Speaker 3: you had kind of like a come to Jesus with
- 21:48Speaker 3: yourself about it?
- 21:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I remember. You know, filming schedules are really hard,
- 21:53Speaker 1: just because especially during the pandemic, because you're kind of
- 21:56Speaker 1: in a bubble, not kind of, you're in a bubble
- 21:59Speaker 1: and you're in a very small type proximity. You can't
- 22:03Speaker 1: really go out and do things normally. And so I
- 22:07Speaker 1: think that was really getting to me, and I was
- 22:10Speaker 1: just coming super overwhelmed and I just couldn't I wasn't
- 22:14Speaker 1: even having fun anymore. And that's when I realized, like, Okay,
- 22:17Speaker 1: something's going on, because like I'm not even enjoying getting
- 22:20Speaker 1: dressed and going on film and doing the things that
- 22:22Speaker 1: I was so excited to do. And I really had
- 22:27Speaker 1: to sit down. And then I started talking to my
- 22:28Speaker 1: therapist and she was like, well, okay, what are you
- 22:31Speaker 1: doing for yourself? Are you working out? And I was like,
- 22:33Speaker 1: oh my god, like no, like I don't have enough
- 22:36Speaker 1: time for that, shak Tasha, but all of these things
- 22:38Speaker 1: are falling apart because you're not doing that. And it
- 22:42Speaker 1: was to the point where I had like told teleproducers,
- 22:43Speaker 1: I'm like listen, I need an hour every morning to
- 22:47Speaker 1: work out, and that's the one thing I'm asking. And
- 22:50Speaker 1: it happened, and they said, Okay, if that's what you
- 22:53Speaker 1: need to do in order to do your job, then
- 22:55Speaker 1: people prioritize that mental health and your health above all.
- 23:00Speaker 3: And I think that that's something that is great about
- 23:02Speaker 3: what we've had to navigate over the last couple of
- 23:05Speaker 3: years is that now, regardless of what industry you're in,
- 23:10Speaker 3: hopefully there is a little bit more acceptance in of
- 23:14Speaker 3: vulnerability and transparency when it comes to doing the things
- 23:17Speaker 3: that we need to do to take care of ourselves.
- 23:19Speaker 1: You know what, I think there is a lot more
- 23:21Speaker 1: acceptance because, you know what, this is the thing that
- 23:23Speaker 1: we all felt, every single one. Nobody was exempt, nobody
- 23:26Speaker 1: was exempt. We all kind of felt a little lost
- 23:29Speaker 1: or a little down, or a little confused or or
- 23:33Speaker 1: a lot of confused, like you know what I mean.
- 23:34Speaker 1: So I think everyone has kind of realized, like, hold
- 23:37Speaker 1: on a second, like I even need a minute, Like
- 23:39Speaker 1: no one says like nope, just keep going, keep moving
- 23:41Speaker 1: through it. I think everyone has a little bit of
- 23:43Speaker 1: a little bit more grace, thank God, Like because of
- 23:45Speaker 1: all of this, and I loved.
- 23:47Speaker 3: I was going back and like looking at the posts
- 23:50Speaker 3: that you put up leading up to the marathon, and
- 23:52Speaker 3: I love how you were so transparent saying that draining
- 23:56Speaker 3: for the marathon, beyond being tough, was like far from
- 23:59Speaker 3: what you have imagine, and that you were.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Cool with showing up when you could.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Again, it goes back to that idea of just having
- 24:06Speaker 3: grace with yourself. But for you, showing up when you
- 24:09Speaker 3: could was actually pretty impressive considering of all the things
- 24:13Speaker 3: that you had on your plate. So do you lean
- 24:15Speaker 3: into mantras or just like, do you do any visualization,
- 24:20Speaker 3: like what helps you get on that sports bra and
- 24:24Speaker 3: get out the door when it does feel like you're
- 24:25Speaker 3: about to climb Mount Everest?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. You know, there are.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Little things that really moving. It really helps, like having
- 24:39Speaker 1: a really support like good support system around you. Honestly,
- 24:42Speaker 1: people that like know that even when you do not
- 24:45Speaker 1: want don't want to do things, or they're noticing that
- 24:47Speaker 1: you're kind of like retracting and pulling away and they
- 24:50Speaker 1: just check on you, like, hey, you get over there,
- 24:52Speaker 1: like you do your little you do your little routine today.
- 24:56Speaker 1: And my friends did that, especially with being on the
- 24:59Speaker 1: road and for me myself, it can be Again, we
- 25:03Speaker 1: just talked about this, it can be just difficult. You
- 25:04Speaker 1: just get so consumed with everything else that you just
- 25:07Speaker 1: forget about it. And I think for me, I think
- 25:11Speaker 1: it's the smallest things of just constantly waking up and
- 25:14Speaker 1: just putting all my workout clothes. It's kind of like
- 25:16Speaker 1: the one thing that really helps.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Yeah, how do you work on your inner dialogue so
- 25:21Speaker 3: that you're speaking kindly to yourself?
- 25:23Speaker 2: I feel like that's a part of this too.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Oh well, that's that's that we are always working on that.
- 25:30Speaker 1: We're always working on that. I'm my toughest critic and
- 25:36Speaker 1: I'm relentless unfortunately so and it's actually really hard for
- 25:42Speaker 1: me personally to see the good in any of my
- 25:46Speaker 1: accomplishments and and really give myself praise. So journaling has
- 25:50Speaker 1: really helped with that. But also at the same time,
- 25:54Speaker 1: I do have about six ol things that I like
- 25:57Speaker 1: to like pray to myself and pray to God morning.
- 26:00Speaker 1: In fact, I wake up every single day, look at
- 26:02Speaker 1: my eyes or open my eyes, I look up to
- 26:04Speaker 1: the ceiling and say hello God, Hello Universe, and I
- 26:06Speaker 1: just kind of like say six things I want today
- 26:10Speaker 1: I want you to put like good people in my
- 26:13Speaker 1: life today. I want you to give me opportunities to
- 26:14Speaker 1: smile today. I want you know thankful that I have
- 26:17Speaker 1: a bed to sleep, and I just give gratitude and
- 26:19Speaker 1: I also put out there what I want to happen.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And it's really just given me a lot of motivation
- 26:27Speaker 1: to just be happy for what comes throughout the day,
- 26:30Speaker 1: but also look forward to what comes through the day
- 26:33Speaker 1: and also just to get through the day.
- 26:35Speaker 2: So thank you for sharing that with us.
- 26:37Speaker 3: I think that it's always challenging, whether you have that
- 26:42Speaker 3: millions of eyes on you or no eyes on you,
- 26:45Speaker 3: to navigate what can be that little voice in the
- 26:48Speaker 3: back of your head. But when you are able to
- 26:51Speaker 3: flip the script and talk to yourself like you would
- 26:54Speaker 3: a loved one, then there's opportunity in that, right there's
- 26:57Speaker 3: opportunity to go take on the day and go after
- 27:00Speaker 3: all those things that you lay in your bed and
- 27:02Speaker 3: you say that you want.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Mm hmm, absolutely absolutely, you just had to start.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it, that's it.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Well for you right now? What excites you? What is
- 27:14Speaker 3: the thing that lights a fire? Wow?
- 27:20Speaker 1: Right now, honestly, it's just being here in the city
- 27:22Speaker 1: I think it's like a really new adventure for me
- 27:24Speaker 1: and really fun. Thing that I love to do in
- 27:27Speaker 1: the morning is because I do wake up early to
- 27:30Speaker 1: go work out, do whatever, and go grab my coffee
- 27:32Speaker 1: with no one Else's like walking around like the area
- 27:36Speaker 1: and you just kind of explore and you find new
- 27:38Speaker 1: little places that you want to go to dinner at,
- 27:41Speaker 1: or go eat at with your friends, whatever it may be.
- 27:44Speaker 1: And next thing you know, you realize you just walk
- 27:46Speaker 1: like three miles all around like the neighborhood, and you're like,
- 27:48Speaker 1: first of all, I just got a little work out,
- 27:49Speaker 1: and second of all, ill just take out my coffee. Third
- 27:51Speaker 1: of all, I know where I'm going to dinner tonight.
- 27:52Speaker 1: It's just like it's fun, it's cute, it's I love exploring.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I love that. I love that. For you.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Someone looks at your social media, they see someone again
- 28:01Speaker 3: with all the followers in the world, the biggest, most
- 28:04Speaker 3: beautiful smile, passionate about what she does. When you look
- 28:07Speaker 3: in the mirror, What is it that you see looking
- 28:09Speaker 3: back at you.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, my eyes, my smile, I guess my
- 28:16Speaker 1: oh't know, I see a child of God.
- 28:17Speaker 2: That's just me. I just want to see. I just
- 28:20Speaker 2: want to be a light.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I just want to be a light to people, and
- 28:22Speaker 1: so that's what I try to look back at and
- 28:25Speaker 1: try to reflect.
- 28:25Speaker 3: So right now, you have an opportunity to offer someone
- 28:29Speaker 3: who just feels like they can't make the time for
- 28:31Speaker 3: themselves a piece of advice to get out the door
- 28:35Speaker 3: and do just that.
- 28:36Speaker 2: What is it that you tell them, Tasha.
- 28:38Speaker 1: You'll never regret it. You'll never regret walking for five minutes,
- 28:42Speaker 1: walking for ten minutes, getting outside and doing something for you.
- 28:45Speaker 1: It'll never hurt you, and you'll never regret putting a
- 28:47Speaker 1: little bit of time into you.
- 28:49Speaker 3: I love that, Tasha. I'm so appreciated of your time.
- 28:52Speaker 3: I wish we had so much more, but thank you
- 28:54Speaker 3: for it. If they don't yet, how do the hurdlers
- 28:57Speaker 3: follow along with you?
- 28:58Speaker 2: How do they keep up with you? Give us all
- 28:59Speaker 2: your details?
- 29:00Speaker 1: Well, Like can find me on Instagram My handle is
- 29:03Speaker 1: Taysha t a y s h I A follow me
- 29:07Speaker 1: there or on Twitter, which is also Taysha TikTok, which
- 29:11Speaker 1: I'm guess I'm gonna start trying to do a little
- 29:12Speaker 1: bit more. Maybe we'll do some like run club things.
- 29:15Speaker 1: That's it, girl, hopefully on.
- 29:17Speaker 2: TV again soon. I'll see y'all soon.
