- 0:00Speaker 1: Ron Verb on News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good afternoon, 305. Welcome to Wednesday, September 23rd already. 71 degrees.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's pleasant out there. And so much to discuss here
- 0:15Speaker 2: this afternoon. Top secret number is always 330-729-9977. 330-729-9977. How
- 0:18Speaker 2: is it possible that I mean, you want to talk
- 0:30Speaker 2: about someone who should just resign their position and won't,
- 0:36Speaker 2: and won't but should, is the clerk of court. All right,
- 0:42Speaker 2: so let me just bring you up to speed. The
- 0:45Speaker 2: office of controversial Mahoning County clerk of courts, Michael Saccone,
- 0:54Speaker 2: failed to pay more than $ 20, 000 monthly electric and gas
- 0:58Speaker 2: bills at area county courts. Again, raising questions about his
- 1:04Speaker 2: ability to do even the most basic function in his job. Now,
- 1:11Speaker 2: Michael Saccone was elected when Trump was running for president.
- 1:21Speaker 2: And what happens in Mahoning County People went out and
- 1:26Speaker 2: voted a straight Republican ticket. Not a bad thing to do.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I mean, for years, people in my own county would
- 1:33Speaker 2: go out and vote a straight Democrat ticket. So let's
- 1:36Speaker 2: not sit back. Let's not have Democrats out there sit
- 1:39Speaker 2: back and say, well, there's your problem. You're voting a
- 1:42Speaker 2: straight ticket. Because for years, Democrats did the same damn
- 1:45Speaker 2: thing in this community. And we had years of public
- 1:49Speaker 2: corruption that was investigated. People went to jail. because they
- 1:54Speaker 2: could put their name on a ballot and people would
- 1:56Speaker 2: vote for him because they were voting for a Democrat
- 1:59Speaker 2: ticket all the way. So anyway, backing up here, if
- 2:02Speaker 2: you remember when Trump was running and people went out
- 2:06Speaker 2: and they voted straight Republican ticket, they weren't saying they would,
- 2:09Speaker 2: they voted for all the Republicans. Now they're not saying,
- 2:13Speaker 2: Hey boy, I can hardly wait to vote for Michael,
- 2:18Speaker 2: Michael Saccone to be the clerk of courts. No one
- 2:21Speaker 2: probably knew who he was. It's a pretty good bet
- 2:24Speaker 2: people didn't know a damn thing about this guy. But
- 2:29Speaker 2: he won. And you would sit back and say to yourself,
- 2:38Speaker 2: can you put more than just a half-assed effort into
- 2:41Speaker 2: learning the responsibilities that the citizens of this community put
- 2:45Speaker 2: you in? As I've said to you numerous times, and
- 2:47Speaker 2: I will say this to you again, for many of
- 2:50Speaker 2: these people that get elected to these positions, It is
- 2:53Speaker 2: the best job they've had. Now, it doesn't matter to
- 2:59Speaker 2: me if some of them are lawyers because some lawyers
- 3:02Speaker 2: don't make that much money. Some lawyers are successful, but
- 3:07Speaker 2: some aren't that successful. And if you're a lawyer, you're
- 3:10Speaker 2: kind of an independent business guy. You've got to have
- 3:14Speaker 2: an office. You've got to buy health care benefits. So
- 3:18Speaker 2: it's not that easy being a lawyer. So for a
- 3:23Speaker 2: lot of these guys, it's great when they can get
- 3:25Speaker 2: some county appointment or job to cover their health care
- 3:29Speaker 2: benefits or get them some additional income. That's one less
- 3:34Speaker 2: expense that they have. So all I say to you
- 3:39Speaker 2: is many of these people that are running for some
- 3:40Speaker 2: of these positions, it's the best job they've ever had
- 3:43Speaker 2: in their life. The highest paying job, the best benefits
- 3:46Speaker 2: they've ever had. It doesn't mean they're good at it
- 3:49Speaker 2: or they're even qualified for it. But wouldn't you think
- 3:55Speaker 2: that when you won that election and you went into
- 3:59Speaker 2: that office as a clerk of courts, that you would
- 4:04Speaker 2: put effort forth to learn that position? Wouldn't you say,
- 4:13Speaker 2: I'm going to go in, I'm going to meet with
- 4:14Speaker 2: the office holder who's currently there, see if I can
- 4:18Speaker 2: shadow them, they can mentor me, that we can have
- 4:21Speaker 2: a seamless transaction, transition, I should say, that we can
- 4:24Speaker 2: do all of this kind of stuff, review the staff,
- 4:27Speaker 2: make sure things continue to run smoothly for Mahoning County.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Wouldn't you think that's what you should do? Since obviously
- 4:37Speaker 2: you don't have a clue about what you're doing. Not
- 4:42Speaker 2: the first time this guy has shown his incompetence. So
- 4:48Speaker 2: let me give you an example. Let me back up
- 4:50Speaker 2: and give you an example. When Ralph Meacham ran for
- 4:54Speaker 2: county auditor, Mahoning County auditor, I don't know that there
- 4:58Speaker 2: was ever a more qualified person to run for that position.
- 5:03Speaker 2: When Ralph Meacham became the Mahoning County auditor, he came
- 5:06Speaker 2: out of the private sector, CPA position, Intelligent man. And
- 5:14Speaker 2: when he won the election to become a Mahoning County
- 5:18Speaker 2: auditor against an incumbent Democrat under a cloud of activities
- 5:24Speaker 2: he shouldn't be doing, I want you to think about
- 5:28Speaker 2: what Meacham did when he took that office over. Meacham
- 5:33Speaker 2: didn't play politics and say, I'm going to start firing
- 5:35Speaker 2: people because I'm a Republican and I won, and now
- 5:39Speaker 2: I'm going to start putting a bunch of cronies here.
- 5:43Speaker 2: He didn't do that. He came into that office and said,
- 5:49Speaker 2: if you're doing a good job and you're nonpolitical and
- 5:52Speaker 2: doing a good job, you'll stay. If you're competent, serving
- 5:57Speaker 2: the citizens. It wasn't a housecleaning. It was we're looking
- 6:02Speaker 2: for people that were good at their job. And yes,
- 6:05Speaker 2: he did fire a couple of people that were very
- 6:07Speaker 2: political and higher up positions in that office. That were
- 6:13Speaker 2: just far too political and hard to describe, but they
- 6:18Speaker 2: deserve to be fired. But he kept the vast majority
- 6:23Speaker 2: of people in that office so the office could run
- 6:25Speaker 2: competently and smoothly. And he had the background and knowledge
- 6:29Speaker 2: to step in that position. Probably the best county auditor
- 6:35Speaker 2: this community has ever had. That's Ralph Meacham. It wasn't
- 6:48Speaker 2: about politics with him. It was about running a competent office.
- 6:52Speaker 2: And that's what he's done over the years. I don't
- 6:58Speaker 2: know where this guy failed. But when I see Ralph
- 7:02Speaker 2: Meacham on my television talking about the basic duties of
- 7:07Speaker 2: this office, simply paying the electric bills, and the county's
- 7:11Speaker 2: got the money to pay him, and that's not getting done.
- 7:16Speaker 2: When Ralph Meacham sits there and he says, I mean,
- 7:20Speaker 2: the best thing for this guy to do is to resign.
- 7:25Speaker 2: That's a powerful statement to me and an accurate statement.
- 7:29Speaker 2: But this guy won't do that, and I'll tell you why.
- 7:31Speaker 2: It's the best job he's probably ever had. Best pay,
- 7:37Speaker 2: best benefits. I mean, he keeps screwing up. He's clearly incompetent.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I mean, he's clearly– where is the effort? Where is it?
- 7:52Speaker 2: So the reporter on 27 goes and stands in front
- 7:55Speaker 2: of the door and he doesn't meet or doesn't talk
- 8:00Speaker 2: about what's going on. He's nowhere to be found. This
- 8:04Speaker 2: is your public servants in your clerk of courts office.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Nowhere to be found. That alone is offensive. You didn't
- 8:17Speaker 2: have the guts to come out to that reporter and say,
- 8:20Speaker 2: this is what happens. This is what I'm doing about it.
- 8:24Speaker 2: This is where I dropped the ball. You didn't have
- 8:26Speaker 2: the guts to take personal responsibility for this screw up
- 8:31Speaker 2: in your office that you're responsible for. You didn't have
- 8:35Speaker 2: the guts to face that reporter and explain what happened
- 8:38Speaker 2: to the public. That says everything I need to know
- 8:42Speaker 2: as a voter when it comes to you. The credibility
- 8:50Speaker 2: of Ralph Meacham sitting there and saying, this guy should
- 8:54Speaker 2: resign and go is huge with me. He didn't have
- 8:58Speaker 2: to tell me that. I knew that before he said it.
- 9:01Speaker 2: It should have happened when they were trying to get
- 9:03Speaker 2: rid of him a while back. But these people are in.
- 9:12Speaker 2: They are sitting there saying, give me the paycheck. Give
- 9:14Speaker 2: me the benefits. Give me the benefits. But you're doing
- 9:17Speaker 2: a lousy job. You don't know what you're doing. It's
- 9:21Speaker 2: an embarrassment. You listen to Joe, excuse me, Judge Joe
- 9:29Speaker 2: Schiavone make perfect points about this entire situation. Then as
- 9:37Speaker 2: Meacham and company look into this further and you see this,
- 9:41Speaker 2: you sit back and you say, this is unreal. But
- 9:47Speaker 2: you don't even have the guts to come forth to
- 9:49Speaker 2: the reporter, the television reporter. You don't have the guts
- 9:54Speaker 2: to come forward and say, this is how it fell
- 9:57Speaker 2: through the cracks. This is what happened. This is what.
- 9:59Speaker 2: I'm doing about it it's your fault it's your office
- 10:07Speaker 2: you're to blame but you don't have the guts to
- 10:12Speaker 2: explain to the community that you represent as a clerk
- 10:15Speaker 2: of courts what the hell happened you hide in the
- 10:18Speaker 2: office You don't come see the reporter? And it's worse
- 10:25Speaker 2: than we thought? And it's costing the taxpayers of this
- 10:32Speaker 2: community additional money to have the utilities turned on, apparently?
- 10:38Speaker 2: You're to blame for this. And I've been around a
- 10:43Speaker 2: long time here, and I've watched offices run well and
- 10:48Speaker 2: not so well. I've been around long enough to see
- 10:51Speaker 2: the corruption and people actually go to jail. And you're
- 11:01Speaker 2: looking at this situation and you just shake your head.
- 11:09Speaker 2: It's just unreal to me. Let me get that off
- 11:13Speaker 2: my chest. And as I say, when Meacham speaks... I
- 11:19Speaker 2: don't know. It has a lot of credibility with me.
- 11:21Speaker 2: You're on air.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Ron, good afternoon, sir.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 11:27Speaker 3: You're talking about Mahoning County's biggest grifter, because that's all
- 11:31Speaker 3: that's about. There's only one reason he ran, and that's
- 11:34Speaker 3: for a paycheck.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know how to explain to these guys.
- 11:40Speaker 2: You were elected on Trump's coattails. I mean, this is
- 11:43Speaker 2: a reality. And you had a responsibility to go into
- 11:47Speaker 2: that office and learn it and perform well.
- 11:53Speaker 3: There's another one. Richard Scarcella. Richard Scarcella is the county recorder.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Apparently didn't know how to do the job because as
- 12:01Speaker 3: soon as he became recorder, what did he do? He
- 12:03Speaker 3: hired Palermo, who he beat in November two years ago.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Hired her to do the job, and I was just told...
- 12:10Speaker 3: He's going to hire another one from Trumbull County, another
- 12:13Speaker 3: from the Trumbull County Auditor's Office, because supposedly Palermo might retire.
- 12:18Speaker 3: So now you're paying his salary, and I don't know
- 12:20Speaker 3: what it is. But I bet the county recorder's knocking down,
- 12:23Speaker 3: you know, between $ 80, 000 and $ 100, 000 or more, especially when
- 12:26Speaker 3: you start putting all the benefits in. You know, the
- 12:29Speaker 3: county employees, most of them have pretty good benefits. Health
- 12:32Speaker 3: care alone is probably $ 30, 000- some- thousand a year for family plans.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I mean, so wouldn't you conclude... Listen, it would have
- 12:40Speaker 2: been better to just reelect Palermo and let her continue. Oh,
- 12:45Speaker 2: but she might have been a Democrat, but she knew
- 12:47Speaker 2: what she was doing.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Correct.
- 12:50Speaker 2: You know, in his defense, at least he was smart
- 12:52Speaker 2: enough to ask her to stay on and continue.
- 12:56Speaker 6: But.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Wouldn't it have been better for all of us to just,
- 13:00Speaker 2: instead of vote a straight ticket, say, okay, we're going
- 13:02Speaker 2: to put her back in office because she knows what
- 13:05Speaker 2: she's doing.
- 13:06Speaker 3: You know what I bet he didn't do, though, when
- 13:07Speaker 3: he hired her? And basically admitted he couldn't do the job.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I bet he didn't take a salary cut. I bet
- 13:13Speaker 3: he didn't say, you know what, I know I got elected,
- 13:14Speaker 3: but I'm not going to take the full salary. I'm
- 13:17Speaker 3: just going to take a third of it because I'm
- 13:20Speaker 3: not doing the job. This lady's doing the real job.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:24Speaker 3: They're all grifters.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I know.
- 13:27Speaker 3: He's still on the board of the Educational Service Center.
- 13:31Speaker 3: He's still a board member there, so he's wearing two hats.
- 13:34Speaker 3: He's running the recorder's office, and he's on the board
- 13:36Speaker 3: for that organization. These people get elected just to suck
- 13:42Speaker 3: at the public teats. That's all they care about.
- 13:45Speaker 7: Right.
- 13:46Speaker 2: It's the best job they ever have in many cases.
- 13:50Speaker 2: And I'm going to tell you, over the years, there's
- 13:52Speaker 2: been extremely competent people that we've had in these offices.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I mean, Tony Vivo, retired, did an excellent job. He
- 13:59Speaker 2: was just very, very good at his job over the years.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Just did a terrific job. Palermo, as you mentioned, did
- 14:07Speaker 2: a good job in that particular office.
- 14:10Speaker 3: But you've also had crooks. You had Phil Chan.
- 14:13Speaker 8: You had Phil Amina.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I'm the first to say we had plenty of drifters
- 14:17Speaker 2: and bad Democrats as well. But, you know, I can
- 14:20Speaker 2: sit back and I can say from my history here,
- 14:23Speaker 2: you've never had a better county engineer. than Pat Giannetti
- 14:26Speaker 2: you've never had a better county engineer you've never had
- 14:29Speaker 2: more roads done at a time when oil and asphalt
- 14:34Speaker 2: are costing a tremendous amount of money you've got roads
- 14:39Speaker 2: that have never been given attention to that are getting
- 14:42Speaker 2: attention and he could have done more if oil prices
- 14:45Speaker 2: stayed down so obviously he's affected by the market but
- 14:48Speaker 2: you've never ever had a better county engineer than that
- 14:51Speaker 2: guy that is doing more than what he's doing. So
- 14:57Speaker 2: there's a competent office holder that you have. I don't
- 15:00Speaker 2: think there's a guy that has better credibility than Ralph Meacham.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Would you agree with that?
- 15:06Speaker 3: There's three really good office holders. I think Ralph's a
- 15:09Speaker 3: great office holder. I think Jerry Green's a great office holder.
- 15:13Speaker 3: And I think Gennetti are your three county office holders
- 15:18Speaker 3: that are really, really good. The rest of them, I mean,
- 15:22Speaker 3: I'm not a fan of the commissioners blowing $ 60 million
- 15:25Speaker 3: on a new building they don't need when they could
- 15:27Speaker 3: buy the mall for probably $ 12 or $ 13 million.
- 15:31Speaker 2: It doesn't make any sense. Nope. But you're saying, isn't
- 15:36Speaker 2: it sad when you look around and you say, well,
- 15:37Speaker 2: there's about three. As I say, I look at Dave
- 15:41Speaker 2: Thomas from a state rep standpoint. He's the hardest working
- 15:44Speaker 2: state rep that I've ever seen in 41 years. I
- 15:47Speaker 2: wish I could vote for him. He's not on my
- 15:50Speaker 2: ballots because he's not my state rep. But I've never
- 15:53Speaker 2: seen a harder working guy than Dave Thomas. Period.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Tex Fisher's doing a good job.
- 15:59Speaker 2: I would agree with that.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Initially, I was a little hesitant, but Tex has come around.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Tex is doing a really good job. I would agree
- 16:05Speaker 2: with that. I would totally agree with that. But, like,
- 16:08Speaker 2: for example, when I hear that, geez, her name just
- 16:17Speaker 2: escaped me. She's running for commissioner at the Democrat site, McNally.
- 16:23Speaker 2: She has one of the worst attendance records as a
- 16:27Speaker 2: state rep. She's there for a paycheck, sir, not to serve.
- 16:33Speaker 2: So you're collecting a paycheck as a state rep. But
- 16:37Speaker 2: you're not going down there, and you've got one of
- 16:39Speaker 2: the worst records down there for showing up. You're getting
- 16:43Speaker 2: paid for a job. Stand by for a second. I've
- 16:47Speaker 2: got to get this all off my chest. Welcome to
- 16:49Speaker 2: a Wednesday. Ron Furb from the Kingdom of Mahoning, NewsRadio

- 17:21Speaker 2: what the wow is all about at Casual Carpets in
- 17:23Speaker 2: Austintown or Columbiana, or visit them at casualcarpetsinc.com.
- 17:27Speaker 1: 570 WKBN. Let me give you an example.
- 17:32Speaker 2: When I talk about Dave Thomas as a state rep,
- 17:35Speaker 2: you know, he's genuinely a public servant that has done
- 17:38Speaker 2: things that benefit everybody, whether you're Republican or Democrat when
- 17:42Speaker 2: it comes to property taxes. That's Dave Thomas. He has
- 17:46Speaker 2: done that. You meet the guy, he is a down-to-earth,
- 17:49Speaker 2: humble man, okay? He's not full of himself or anything
- 17:53Speaker 2: like that. He's just a normal guy trying to do
- 17:56Speaker 2: this kind of stuff. So it's what I admire about him.
- 18:01Speaker 2: But when you look at Lauren McNally, who's running to
- 18:04Speaker 2: be commissioner, who as a state rep has one of
- 18:07Speaker 2: the worst attendance records, well, wait a minute, you were
- 18:10Speaker 2: collecting his paycheck, but you weren't showing up to do
- 18:12Speaker 2: the job. What's the reason here?
- 18:16Speaker 3: All they care about is the paycheck. They don't care
- 18:18Speaker 3: about representing me.
- 18:20Speaker 2: And you and doing the job. But now she wants
- 18:22Speaker 2: to be commissioner.
- 18:23Speaker 3: They don't have to.
- 18:23Speaker 2: They're going to get paid here regardless. I'm a state rep,
- 18:27Speaker 2: and I had one of the worst attendance records, but
- 18:30Speaker 2: now I want to be your commissioner. Really?
- 18:33Speaker 3: Well, she probably turned out as state rep. She had
- 18:37Speaker 3: to find another grift.
- 18:39Speaker 2: It's just you were given this opportunity by the voters,
- 18:43Speaker 2: and you couldn't show up? You couldn't have a good
- 18:47Speaker 2: attendance record?
- 18:48Speaker 3: Ron, if iHeart was going to pay you every day,
- 18:54Speaker 3: whether you showed up to do your show or not,
- 18:57Speaker 3: What's the point of showing up? You might as well
- 18:58Speaker 3: not show up, right? Because you're still going to get paid.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Because it's called something called pride in what you do.
- 19:04Speaker 2: You were given an opportunity by the voters. It's not funny.
- 19:09Speaker 2: You were given the opportunity by the voters to do something.
- 19:11Speaker 2: You were a public servant. Fulfill those duties. We've had
- 19:15Speaker 2: it over the years. You see it with Meacham. You
- 19:18Speaker 2: saw it with Tony Vivo. You see it with Jerry Green.
- 19:24Speaker 2: You see it with.
- 19:26Speaker 2: The folks that you've mentioned.
- 19:28Speaker 7: He's a millennial.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Do you work with people in that generation?
- 19:31Speaker 2: I'm not going to attack.
- 19:32Speaker 7: They don't work.
- 19:32Speaker 2: No, I don't agree with that. I don't want to
- 19:34Speaker 2: attack an entire generation. That's not right. It's not fair.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I have children. They bust their ass. So don't cover
- 19:41Speaker 2: them all with one broad brush. That's not accurate to do.
- 19:45Speaker 2: This is hers to own, is what I'm saying. But
- 19:48Speaker 2: this guy is... is sitting there and he's been incompetent
- 19:52Speaker 2: from day one. Why haven't you got off your ass, Saccone,
- 19:57Speaker 2: and learned the job and put a little effort and
- 20:00Speaker 2: pride into it and surround yourself with competent people? Why
- 20:04Speaker 2: haven't you done the least wrong? bit of effort to
- 20:07Speaker 2: do that, it goes without saying. Why are we here?
- 20:10Speaker 3: Look at his personal life.
- 20:12Speaker 7: He's the guy that's a disaster.
- 20:14Speaker 3: He should have never been elected to the office.
- 20:16Speaker 2: But he was.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Uninformed voters. You had completely and totally uninformed voters that
- 20:21Speaker 3: just voted straight R down the ticket.
- 20:23Speaker 7: I'm a Republican.
- 20:23Speaker 3: I'm a Republican precinct committeeman.
- 20:25Speaker 7: I don't vote.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Straight R down the ticket if I believe the other
- 20:28Speaker 3: side has a better candidate. I mean, you can't be
- 20:33Speaker 3: that partisan that you just go vote straight D or
- 20:35Speaker 3: straight R. If you do, you're an idiot.
- 20:37Speaker 6: And when you do.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Stuff like that, that's how you get a Chacon. That's
- 20:41Speaker 3: how you get a Scarcella. That's how you get these
- 20:44Speaker 3: people that are just getting elected for the paycheck and
- 20:47Speaker 3: not to do the work. Because that's all they're interested in.
- 20:51Speaker 3: They don't have the morals and the work ethic that
- 20:54Speaker 3: you have and that you put into your kids, that
- 20:57Speaker 3: I put into my kids. it's getting increasingly rare to
- 21:01Speaker 3: find that anymore. It's not all millennials, but I can
- 21:05Speaker 3: tell you right now, there's a good chunk in that
- 21:07Speaker 3: generation that they don't care. I mean, they look at
- 21:11Speaker 3: me and you and our generation, we were stupid for
- 21:15Speaker 3: showing up to work every day and doing it and
- 21:16Speaker 3: letting our employers, or, you know, our employers took advantage
- 21:19Speaker 3: of us. That's the way a lot of them in
- 21:21Speaker 3: that generation, a good chunk, look at it.
- 21:24Speaker 2: You just look at, like I give you an example,
- 21:26Speaker 2: Dave Thomas comes on the program on a regular basis
- 21:29Speaker 2: to say this is what's going on, this is what
- 21:31Speaker 2: I'm doing. He reports into his constituents on a regular basis, right?
- 21:36Speaker 10: Yep.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I have never, ever received a phone call from Warren
- 21:39Speaker 2: McNally during her entire tenure as a state rep, ever.
- 21:47Speaker 3: You have to vote Christine Oliver this November. I mean,
- 21:50Speaker 3: you don't have a choice. It's the only way you're
- 21:53Speaker 3: going to get somebody that at least is looking out
- 21:55Speaker 3: for your wallet for you.
- 21:57Speaker 2: And if she's put in that position, it's up to
- 22:01Speaker 2: her to get up to speed and be competent really
- 22:04Speaker 2: quick on the position and the opportunity.
- 22:08Speaker 3: She's done a good job at Canfield.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Right. And so you've got to get into that position.
- 22:12Speaker 2: You've got to hit the ground running and be good
- 22:16Speaker 2: at it. I mean, that's what people expect there. I mean,
- 22:20Speaker 2: it's just– you look at some of these people that
- 22:23Speaker 2: are running for some of these offices and– Some Republicans,
- 22:28Speaker 2: some Democrats, and they're clueless. I'm here to tell you.
- 22:31Speaker 2: They are absolutely clueless.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Laura McNally has never seen a public program that she
- 22:36Speaker 3: didn't think needed more money.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Stand by. Back in a minute after the headlines. Ron Verb,
- 22:40Speaker 2: NewsRadio 570. NewsRadio 570.
- 22:41Speaker 6: WKVN.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Bond is being set at $ 500, 000 for a man charged.
- 22:44Speaker 2: In a deadly shooting in New Philadelphia.
- 22:53Speaker 11: 26-year-old Paul Kinlaw is being accused of shooting 42-year-old Christopher
- 22:57Speaker 11: Damron Sunday afternoon at a home on 2nd Street Southwest.
- 23:01Speaker 11: Kinlaw is charged with murder. Police in Ashtabula County have
- 23:05Speaker 11: arrested a suspect accused of hitting a child with their
- 23:08Speaker 11: car and fleeing the scene. It happened Tuesday morning in Conneaut.
- 23:13Speaker 11: There's been no word on the extent of any injuries
- 23:15Speaker 11: suffered by the victim. Franklin County Municipal Court is closed
- 23:19Speaker 11: for the rest of this week while crews perform emergency
- 23:22Speaker 11: maintenance on the building's fire alarm system. In-person custody arraignment
- 23:26Speaker 11: hearings will be held on Saturday. All other hearings this
- 23:29Speaker 11: week will be rescheduled. Normal hours are expected to resume
- 23:33Speaker 11: next week. I'm Andy Betts.
- 23:36Speaker 12: Listen on the free iHeartRadio app for all your music, news, talk,
- 23:40Speaker 12: and sports radio.
- 23:41Speaker 8: Podcasts, too.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Download the app.
- 23:44Speaker 8: Free never sounded so good.
- 23:46Speaker 2: A to Z.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. All right.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Go ahead, Rich.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I mean, you just, people need to start paying attention.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I've said this a million times. Most of us aren't
- 24:03Speaker 3: that busy that you can't go to a city council meeting,
- 24:06Speaker 3: a school board meeting, a trustees meeting, all these, you know,
- 24:10Speaker 3: and I'm not saying you have to do it every month,
- 24:11Speaker 3: but once in a while, go. call up somebody and request,
- 24:15Speaker 3: you say, hey, what's the school treasurer's, what's the superintendent making?
- 24:20Speaker 3: If people started looking into the contracts that these public
- 24:23Speaker 3: officials are awarded by boards who, in my opinion, are
- 24:27Speaker 3: completely and totally absolved of any fiduciary duty to the
- 24:32Speaker 3: public because they award contracts. Like I said, when I
- 24:36Speaker 3: ran last year for the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio,
- 24:41Speaker 3: That superintendent out there, all in, in her last year
- 24:44Speaker 3: of her contract, is knocking down like $ 278, 000. I think
- 24:46Speaker 3: Whitaker at the MCBDD, we're looking into him right now.
- 24:49Speaker 3: I think he's all in, $ 160, 000, $ 170, 000. Healthcare plans the
- 24:51Speaker 3: likes of which none of your listeners who are not
- 24:52Speaker 3: public employees enjoy.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Today, you're lucky if.
- 25:08Speaker 3: You have an 80-20 plan. Most people are like a
- 25:10Speaker 3: 70-30 plan in network, and if you go out of network,
- 25:13Speaker 3: it's probably 60-40. These public employees, $ 350 deductibles. I did
- 25:19Speaker 3: a records request from MCBDD. $ 350 deductible.
- 25:24Speaker 7: That's it.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Nobody has a deductible like that anymore. Most people are $ 750, $ 1, 000.
- 25:30Speaker 4: $ 2, 000.
- 25:31Speaker 3: And they're not paying much. I think they're only paying 12%
- 25:34Speaker 3: of the cost of the plan. I think that the
- 25:37Speaker 3: cost of their family plan is like $ 33, 000, $ 34, 000 per employee.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Do the math on that. I pulled a plan. They're
- 25:46Speaker 3: taking care of, I think, 975 clients. They're spending not
- 25:52Speaker 3: just their money, federal money and state money. They also
- 25:55Speaker 3: oversee that. They get the money from the federal government
- 25:59Speaker 3: and state. Add to it their local match. I think
- 26:03Speaker 3: it was 975, and I forget what they call them,
- 26:06Speaker 3: not dependents or something, but basically clients that they serve.
- 26:09Speaker 3: They're spending almost $ 105 million. To put that into perspective,
- 26:16Speaker 3: they're spending as much on 975 people as what the
- 26:18Speaker 3: entire county budget is. Jerry Green's budget, I think, is
- 26:25Speaker 3: $ 35 million. If you add everything else up at the county,
- 26:27Speaker 3: you're at around $ 90, $ 95 million. They're spending $ 105 million
- 26:33Speaker 3: on 975 people. Now, it's not all local money. It
- 26:39Speaker 3: is federal and state.
- 26:40Speaker 2: It's all your tax dollars.
- 26:41Speaker 13: It's $ 107, 000 per person.
- 26:42Speaker 14: That they serve.
- 26:46Speaker 3: At what point do people not wake up and say,
- 26:49Speaker 3: enough of... I understand. I couldn't imagine having a special
- 26:52Speaker 3: needs individual in my family.
- 26:54Speaker 2: But $ 107, 000 per person?
- 26:56Speaker 13: $ 107, 000.
- 26:56Speaker 3: And they've got.
- 26:58Speaker 2: A big levy on the ballot coming up in November.
- 27:02Speaker 3: That has to be defeated. There has to be more
- 27:05Speaker 3: fiscal accountability to the taxpayer from these public organizations. The
- 27:10Speaker 3: schools blow our money. I've been talking about that for years.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Some places, I live in Beaver Township. I honestly think
- 27:19Speaker 3: my three Beaver Township trustees do a good job. They
- 27:22Speaker 3: are good stewards of my Beaver Township tax dollar. I
- 27:26Speaker 3: can't say that about my school system. In all honesty,
- 27:29Speaker 3: I don't think there's a school system in the state
- 27:31Speaker 3: of Ohio that is a good steward of the tax
- 27:33Speaker 3: dollars that they receive. Because the number of administrative positions
- 27:38Speaker 3: and all the stuff that they do with their money,
- 27:41Speaker 3: it's ridiculous what schools blow. And when you get into
- 27:43Speaker 3: the inner city schools, Youngstown, Columbus, Toledo, Cincy, you're looking
- 27:49Speaker 3: $ 30, 000 and up per student, and most of them can't
- 27:53Speaker 3: read past the fifth grade level. At what point does
- 27:57Speaker 3: this nonsense have to end? The Democrats always complain there's
- 28:01Speaker 3: not enough money in education. There's more than enough money.
- 28:04Speaker 3: The problem is it's going to teachers' benefits, it's going
- 28:07Speaker 3: to teachers' salary, and even worse than the teachers, the administrators,
- 28:11Speaker 3: the principals, superintendents, treasurers, the directors of every conceivable program
- 28:17Speaker 3: that they need to run. These people are all knocking
- 28:19Speaker 3: down six figures. It's crazy. I don't think people know,
- 28:23Speaker 3: the average principal in Mahoney County is probably knocking down
- 28:26Speaker 3: salary alone probably about $ 100, 000, $ 110, 000. Throw in benefits all in,
- 28:32Speaker 3: they're probably at $ 140, 000 for a principal. These people, and
- 28:38Speaker 3: I'm sorry, you know, they say they work 12 months
- 28:40Speaker 3: out of the year.
- 28:40Speaker 2: They don't.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Go there in the summer. They're not there after 11,
- 28:44Speaker 3: 12 o'clock in the morning. They may show up every day.
- 28:47Speaker 3: I mean, it's ridiculous. Basically, from June until school starts,
- 28:51Speaker 3: it's a part-time position. And nothing against principals.
- 28:56Speaker 14: You need them.
- 28:56Speaker 7: They do a good job.
- 28:57Speaker 3: But what we're paying a lot of these people compared
- 28:59Speaker 3: to what those of us who work in the private
- 29:01Speaker 3: sector have to earn and what we have to pay
- 29:04Speaker 3: for our benefits and other things, it's upside down. I mean,
- 29:08Speaker 3: for years, public employees had good benefits because their salaries
- 29:11Speaker 3: were low. That paradigm is gone. They're making more than
- 29:15Speaker 3: the people in the private sector are, and they still
- 29:18Speaker 3: have the gold-plated benefits. It's ridiculous. But nobody pays attention
- 29:22Speaker 3: to it. We're being fleeced, and nobody seems to care.
- 29:28Speaker 2: It is just, it's pathetic. I mean, when you listen
- 29:31Speaker 2: to Joe Schiavone on there talk about the court not
- 29:34Speaker 2: getting its bills paid, And you think this guy will
- 29:40Speaker 2: do the right thing and say, this office is over
- 29:42Speaker 2: my head, it's beyond me?
- 29:44Speaker 3: Not a chance. He's there until November two years from now.
- 29:48Speaker 3: November of 28, God willing, the people of Mahoney County
- 29:51Speaker 3: are smart enough to vote him out. Until then, unless
- 29:54Speaker 3: he's convicted of theft in office or a crime or something,
- 29:57Speaker 3: you are stuck with him. Scarcella, unless he decides to
- 30:00Speaker 3: resign or dies in office, he's in the recorder until then.
- 30:04Speaker 3: There's no accountability, which is why I've said, and I
- 30:07Speaker 3: actually went to the Mahoning County candidates' night. It was
- 30:11Speaker 3: a precinct committee, a central party committee last Thursday, and
- 30:15Speaker 3: I addressed everybody there and said, it's time to go
- 30:17Speaker 3: to a charter form of government because then these positions,
- 30:21Speaker 3: they are employees of the county. They're not elected.
- 30:24Speaker 15: So they're way easier to.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Get rid of. You can just fire them. But if
- 30:29Speaker 3: they're elected, it takes almost an act of Congress to
- 30:32Speaker 3: get rid of them. It's virtually impossible. Even if you
- 30:35Speaker 3: would get the petition started on Chacon, by the time
- 30:37Speaker 3: it wakes its way through the courts, his term is up.
- 30:40Speaker 3: In the meantime, he's probably gone off with $ 500, 000, $ 600, 000
- 30:45Speaker 3: in salaries and benefits.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Wouldn't you think the guy would be embarrassed to go
- 30:52Speaker 2: out knowing that he's so damn incompetent in his job?
- 30:56Speaker 3: Look at his personal life. He's not embarrassed about any
- 30:58Speaker 3: of it.
- 30:58Speaker 2: No, I'm just saying, where's your pride? Where's your personal pride?
- 31:02Speaker 2: You've been given an opportunity. I would say this to
- 31:05Speaker 2: him if he was sitting in a chair over there.
- 31:07Speaker 2: You've been given an opportunity. You got in the office.
- 31:10Speaker 2: No one voted for you. They voted for you. You
- 31:12Speaker 2: wrote on Trump's coattails. So don't act like people actually
- 31:16Speaker 2: voted for you and even knew who you are. You
- 31:18Speaker 2: were given this opportunity, and you've dropped the ball from
- 31:21Speaker 2: day one. Where's the effort? Why aren't you meeting with
- 31:29Speaker 2: the reporter to answer to the public that you supposedly
- 31:33Speaker 2: serve on how this screw-up happens? Why do they have
- 31:37Speaker 2: to go to Meacham and Meacham has to answer these
- 31:40Speaker 2: questions and Meacham with great credibility says, well, the guy
- 31:44Speaker 2: should really resign. I mean, you know, you've got Meacham,
- 31:48Speaker 2: who last time I checked is a Republican, saying this
- 31:50Speaker 2: guy's got to resign because Meacham's all about competence. Meacham
- 31:55Speaker 2: isn't a guy.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Tom McCabe, who's the Republican party chairman, will flat out
- 31:59Speaker 3: tell you this guy should resign. He should have never
- 32:00Speaker 3: been elected.
- 32:01Speaker 7: He's incompetent.
- 32:04Speaker 3: But you assume that people in these offices have character
- 32:08Speaker 3: and integrity.
- 32:09Speaker 14: Most of them don't.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Most of them are just grifters. They're there for a paycheck,
- 32:14Speaker 3: and that's all they care about, nothing else. They didn't
- 32:17Speaker 3: run to serve. They ran to be employed.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Well, when I hear about it, when I hear about it,
- 32:22Speaker 2: when I hear that, I'm thinking, well, you didn't show
- 32:31Speaker 2: up to do the job you were being paid for,
- 32:33Speaker 2: but now you want to make $ 100, 000 plus a year
- 32:35Speaker 2: and be commissioner. Well, wait a minute now. Are you
- 32:39Speaker 2: kidding me? Are you kidding me?
- 32:43Speaker 3: And it will be a razor-thin election. God willing, Christine
- 32:46Speaker 3: Oliver pulls it out.
- 32:48Speaker 2: All right. There you go.
- 32:50Speaker 16: Take care, Ron.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Thank you. I mean, these are interesting times. I've said
- 32:55Speaker 2: it to you guys a million times. I'll say it
- 32:57Speaker 2: to you again. You deserve better than this. You absolutely
- 33:03Speaker 2: deserve better than this. When you're looking at somebody running
- 33:11Speaker 2: for judge, they should have some experience in the court.
- 33:18Speaker 2: And in these courts. In private practice for years. That's
- 33:26Speaker 2: what you should want for them to sit in being
- 33:28Speaker 2: a judge. That's how you get competence, isn't it? You're
- 33:40Speaker 2: on the air.
- 33:43Speaker 10: Wow.
- 33:46Speaker 16: That was something.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Well, it's the reality of what's going on around here.
- 33:50Speaker 16: Yeah, you're right. And finally, the gentleman before me that
- 33:54Speaker 16: called and talked about how he... votes a split ticket
- 33:59Speaker 16: because he feels all the other persons would do a
- 34:01Speaker 16: better job.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 34:02Speaker 16: That's what we have to do.
- 34:05Speaker 2: You vote for competence. You vote for the person. If
- 34:08Speaker 2: you think that person is doing a good job and
- 34:11Speaker 2: knows what they're doing, then you keep them because they're
- 34:15Speaker 2: doing a good job. It doesn't matter to me if
- 34:19Speaker 2: Jerry Green's a Republican or Democrat. I could care less.
- 34:22Speaker 2: As sheriff, he's doing his job. You follow what I'm saying?
- 34:26Speaker 2: Doesn't matter to me if Dave Thomas is a Republican
- 34:28Speaker 2: or Democrat. He's doing an outstanding job.
- 34:32Speaker 16: That's what counts, don't it?
- 34:33Speaker 15: Yes.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Ralph Meacham. Doesn't matter to me if he's a Republican
- 34:36Speaker 2: or Democrat. He's probably the best auditor that we've had.
- 34:41Speaker 4: Period.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Pat Giannetti. Doesn't matter to me what parties he's at.
- 34:46Speaker 2: He's the best county engineer Mahoning County has ever had.
- 34:48Speaker 16: Man, when he came up with that, I'm thinking... Wow.
- 34:53Speaker 16: And then the guy that usually was on in the mornings,
- 34:55Speaker 16: he backed him, you backed him. And I'm thinking, well,
- 34:58Speaker 16: what about this guy? So look him up and see
- 35:01Speaker 16: what he's got to say. But what made my, if
- 35:03Speaker 16: I could have voted him in, it was because he said,
- 35:07Speaker 16: point blank, this is not going anywhere. This money is
- 35:12Speaker 16: going to go for what I'm telling you, to reconstruct
- 35:16Speaker 16: the roads in his county.
- 35:18Speaker 14: Right.
- 35:19Speaker 16: And I said, right on. If I could have voted
- 35:21Speaker 16: for him, I would have voted for him right then
- 35:23Speaker 16: and there.
- 35:24Speaker 2: And here's the thing about, you know, I can sit
- 35:27Speaker 2: here and I can bellyache on a regular basis about,
- 35:30Speaker 2: and there's plenty to bellyache about. But when you got
- 35:33Speaker 2: a guy like Giannetti that says, this is what, if
- 35:36Speaker 2: you give me a quarter percent sales tax, I will
- 35:39Speaker 2: pay these roads that haven't gotten attention in all the counties.
- 35:43Speaker 2: If you give it to me, I'm going to share
- 35:44Speaker 2: it with Boardman and Austintown and your local community so
- 35:47Speaker 2: that they get more paving dollars. And yeah, What a
- 35:51Speaker 2: huge difference it made for local communities. But also, I'm
- 35:54Speaker 2: going to do more stuff in the county. I'm not
- 35:57Speaker 2: going to use it for personnel raises or any of this.
- 36:00Speaker 2: You know, I've got to deal with bridges and culverts
- 36:02Speaker 2: and roads.
- 36:04Speaker 16: I've got to do something. That's right.
- 36:05Speaker 14: Right.
- 36:06Speaker 2: And you know what? Everything he said he was going
- 36:08Speaker 2: to do with that quarter percent, he's done. As a
- 36:13Speaker 2: matter of fact, I would be more than happy to say, okay,
- 36:19Speaker 2: like WRTA, as I say, they get a quarter percent
- 36:22Speaker 2: forever sales tax that you folks voted for. I did
- 36:25Speaker 2: not vote for it. I do not support a quarter
- 36:28Speaker 2: percent forever sales tax for WRTA. I say it to
- 36:31Speaker 2: you again. WRTA has more money than it knows what
- 36:33Speaker 2: to do with. You can ride the bus. They don't
- 36:35Speaker 2: even charge anymore. They don't even operate that sham. That's
- 36:38Speaker 2: how much money they have. They're ripping down the bus garage,
- 36:41Speaker 2: building a new one. Their biggest problem is figuring out
- 36:44Speaker 2: how to spend all of that money every year that's
- 36:46Speaker 2: coming in from the sales tax that you're paying. I'm
- 36:50Speaker 2: here to tell you I would rather that quarter percent.
- 36:54Speaker 2: go over to to uh genetti to pave even do
- 36:58Speaker 2: more with roads because the cost per mile keeps going
- 37:01Speaker 2: up with the cost of oil and asphalt i would
- 37:04Speaker 2: rather pat genetti get more money and be able to
- 37:06Speaker 2: pay more of these damn roads that needed in this
- 37:09Speaker 2: community but he's doing the best job ever but wrta
- 37:12Speaker 2: like i say they got all kinds of money and
- 37:15Speaker 2: they continue to just Figure out how to spend it.
- 37:18Speaker 2: And I say it again to you, again, the library
- 37:21Speaker 2: system on your property taxes has more money than they
- 37:24Speaker 2: know what to do with. They are personnel heavy. They
- 37:28Speaker 2: hire a bunch of people to insulate the head of
- 37:32Speaker 2: the library to not be receptive to what the public
- 37:35Speaker 2: has to say. I mean, you've got a library system
- 37:38Speaker 2: that's crapping on the people in Poland over their beautiful,
- 37:42Speaker 2: spectacular library there that hasn't been maintained over the years.
- 37:46Speaker 2: that needs to be maintained and should continue to be
- 37:51Speaker 2: the beautiful facility that it is. But they don't care.
- 37:56Speaker 2: They've hired all of these PR people to try to
- 38:00Speaker 2: justify this and muddy up everybody because we don't care
- 38:05Speaker 2: what the taxpayers say or what the voters say. We
- 38:08Speaker 2: got your money. Screw you. We're going to do what
- 38:10Speaker 2: we want.
- 38:11Speaker 7: Right?
- 38:12Speaker 2: And that's where we are, period, on this kind of stuff.
- 38:15Speaker 2: So what do you see going on in Poland? We're
- 38:18Speaker 2: not going to fix this spectacular library in the heart
- 38:20Speaker 2: of Poland. We're going to go build another one because
- 38:23Speaker 2: we got more money than we know what to do
- 38:24Speaker 2: with anyway. You follow me? So they're not receptive to
- 38:29Speaker 2: the citizens of a community. WRTA isn't. They got more
- 38:32Speaker 2: money than they know what to do with. I sit
- 38:34Speaker 2: here and I tell you on a regular basis, these
- 38:37Speaker 2: entities have all of this money. This levy for MRDD
- 38:43Speaker 2: is ridiculous how much money they're asking for. It's ridiculous.
- 38:48Speaker 2: I mean, it's absolutely ridiculous.
- 38:52Speaker 6: So....
- 38:54Speaker 16: Okay, take a chill pill. Well, it agitates anybody who's
- 39:01Speaker 16: willing to try to understand what you're saying. Like the
- 39:06Speaker 16: bus thing there in Youngstown.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Listen to the chimes.
- 39:08Speaker 16: The federal government gave them people and helped them get
- 39:12Speaker 16: the buses, even though they were electric and you're not
- 39:15Speaker 16: too hot on that. But you're right. Why did we
- 39:19Speaker 16: give them that 4%? How about that generator plant out
- 39:23Speaker 16: in Lordstown? All the money they received and our electric
- 39:28Speaker 16: rates are going up. 38.1 percent rise in electric costs
- 39:35Speaker 16: in trumbull county area.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Well that electric plan is private i mean that isn't
- 39:41Speaker 2: a taxpayer undertaking no sir Those are owned by private companies.
- 39:45Speaker 2: But let me back up and say, you know, they've
- 39:49Speaker 2: got a big problem here with the steam plants. And
- 39:51Speaker 2: a lot of buildings get their heat and– air conditioning
- 39:56Speaker 2: apparently from the steam plants. Well, you better figure out.
- 40:00Speaker 2: It's a pretty big problem. You better figure out what
- 40:03Speaker 2: to do as we're getting closer to October and November
- 40:07Speaker 2: to say, what options do we have here as a
- 40:11Speaker 2: county to see that we can solve this problem so
- 40:14Speaker 2: that these facilities have heat? And the pipes don't freeze.
- 40:19Speaker 2: I mean, this is a major problem. What's being done
- 40:22Speaker 2: about it? The steam plant has to be a high priority.
- 40:26Speaker 16: Well, I understand. I understand what you're saying. But then
- 40:30Speaker 16: we turn right around and we come in 10, 12
- 40:33Speaker 16: years later, and we give these big deductions on electric
- 40:36Speaker 16: prices to these centers. And then we got stuck with that,
- 40:41Speaker 16: and we got to suffer with that. And nobody realized
- 40:44Speaker 16: what was going on down in Columbus. And all of
- 40:46Speaker 16: a sudden, when, oh, my God, they're getting all this,
- 40:49Speaker 16: they're getting all that, we've got to do something about it.
- 40:52Speaker 16: And what have they done? They didn't tell, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 40:58Speaker 16: We've got to redo this contract. They just kept right
- 41:02Speaker 16: on letting them do what they're.
- 41:03Speaker 15: Going to do.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah, as I've explained the electric situation a million times.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Stand by.
- 41:09Speaker 5: Hang on.
- 41:10Speaker 2: I'm coming back to you. Ron Verp, 352 in the afternoon.
- 41:13Speaker 2: We're with you until 6. News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 41:15Speaker 13: 100 years ago in 1921, the law offices of Johnson &
- 41:24Speaker 13: Johnson opened our doors. One century later, we're still here
- 41:28Speaker 13: with our fourth generation proudly serving the legal needs of
- 41:31Speaker 13: the Mahoning Valley. So if you're in legal need of
- 41:34Speaker 13: solid legal counsel regarding business matters, estate planning, or oil
- 41:38Speaker 13: and gas law, call Johnson & Johnson today at 533-1921.
- 41:41Speaker 2: That's 533-1921.
- 41:47Speaker 13: Johnson & Johnson, since 1921. Legal counsel for the times
- 41:52Speaker 13: of your life.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Looking to upgrade your bathroom, high weather, and talk station? 570-WKBN.
- 42:00Speaker 2: All right, News Radio 570-WKBN. I say it to you
- 42:04Speaker 2: guys all the time, listen. You deserve, there's good, competent people,
- 42:09Speaker 2: but they're a minority. You deserve many more people in
- 42:13Speaker 2: all of these offices. to give you better attention and
- 42:18Speaker 2: better service than you're getting. And you're getting shortchanged by
- 42:23Speaker 2: a lot of these people. But anyway, go ahead.
- 42:27Speaker 16: Let me tell you a little story here that's true.
- 42:29Speaker 16: All right. When my kids were going to school sometime,
- 42:33Speaker 16: they're all millennials. All three of my children are. So
- 42:37Speaker 16: now the school district is, they're in a big fight
- 42:40Speaker 16: now over the contract. So it goes on two months
- 42:45Speaker 16: prior to school starting. They're not getting anywhere. They're fighting
- 42:48Speaker 16: back and forth. The school board's trying to get them
- 42:51Speaker 16: to take this contract. They don't want it. They want this.
- 42:54Speaker 16: So they had a big meeting there. And I mean,
- 42:57Speaker 16: they could have filled... They had people standing outside, but
- 43:00Speaker 16: luckily I got there sooner because I was involved in
- 43:04Speaker 16: all this stuff. I just didn't understand what the hell
- 43:06Speaker 16: the big deal was. So I stood up and I said.
- 43:11Speaker 16: You can't even tell us what the holdup is on
- 43:13Speaker 16: this contract. And the school board looked up at me
- 43:18Speaker 16: and looked. No, we can't. It's private. Oh, I don't
- 43:22Speaker 16: understand something here, I said. I am paying your newest
- 43:29Speaker 16: teacher their salaries and yours. So when they get a
- 43:33Speaker 16: pay increase, You and the school board are getting a
- 43:36Speaker 16: pay increase, and nobody knows what the hell is going
- 43:39Speaker 16: on here. That's why you've got so many people here
- 43:42Speaker 16: sitting down looking. Next thing I know, a few people
- 43:44Speaker 16: started saying, yeah, I started applauding. Two days later, the
- 43:47Speaker 16: contract was solved. That's what it took to stand up
- 43:51Speaker 16: for somebody just to say something of common sense that
- 43:58Speaker 16: would help everybody else out. Next thing I know, I got...
- 44:04Speaker 16: a phone call saying thank you, and I don't even
- 44:07Speaker 16: know who the hell the person was, to tell you
- 44:09Speaker 16: the truth. I really didn't care. My wife comes home
- 44:11Speaker 16: and says, they're talking about you, honey. There you go. So,
- 44:17Speaker 16: I mean, it's got to start, and Rich gets in there.
- 44:21Speaker 16: If I wasn't so goofed up the way I am physically,
- 44:23Speaker 16: I'd be involved myself trying to figure out who's right
- 44:26Speaker 16: and who's left and who's wrong and who's even half-assed right.
- 44:32Speaker 16: so that I could, you know, listen to what's going on.
- 44:35Speaker 16: Because I was involved in that stuff. Being a Republican,
- 44:38Speaker 16: I was involved in that stuff, even if I'd have
- 44:40Speaker 16: been a straightforward Democrat. But a lot of times you
- 44:43Speaker 16: get these people, like you said, that'll vote a straight ticket.
- 44:46Speaker 16: Rich come on and said, I vote a split, and
- 44:48Speaker 16: I'm going, amen, brother, I love you.
- 44:50Speaker 2: No, he votes for the best person. All right, you
- 44:54Speaker 2: got it.
- 44:54Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Thank you, old-timer. NewsRadio 570, Dodie Kuyen and Ron Verb,
- 44:59Speaker 2: 358 in the afternoon. You're on the air.
- 45:03Speaker 7: Hey, Ron, how are you doing?
- 45:05Speaker 2: It's Bubba Ganoush.
- 45:07Speaker 7: What's your main concern today?
- 45:11Speaker 2: Well, I got many main concerns. I mean, there's many
- 45:14Speaker 2: things that I'll talk about. By the way, I watched
- 45:17Speaker 2: that U.N. speech last night. Here's what I liked about it,
- 45:20Speaker 2: because you said you watched it yesterday and you asked
- 45:23Speaker 2: me what I thought. And I didn't see Trump's speech,
- 45:25Speaker 2: but I caught it last night. The first thing, let
- 45:29Speaker 2: me tell you what I liked about it after the break.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Stand by, all right? It's back with Bubba Ganoush after
- 45:32Speaker 2: the break at 4, NewsRadio 570, WKBN. And Ron Furb
- 45:36Speaker 2: from the Kingdom of Mahoney, an hour down, a couple
- 45:38Speaker 2: more to go. It's Wednesday, September 23rd at 71 degrees.
- 45:43Speaker 2: It's a glorious day out there. Wherever you are, whatever
- 45:45Speaker 2: you're doing, hope your day's going well. Back right after this.
- 45:48Speaker 12: 100 years as the Valley's trusted news, weather, and talk station.
- 45:54Speaker 8: 570 WKPN. Youngstown.
- 46:02Speaker 17: A camera controversy lands on Capitol Hill. Elisa Brady, Fox News.
- 46:07Speaker 18: It has amassed in a very short time frame a
- 46:10Speaker 18: surveillance network unlike any we've ever.
- 46:12Speaker 6: Seen in this country.
- 46:13Speaker 17: Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley leading a hearing on automatic
- 46:17Speaker 17: license plate readers made by the Flock Company.
- 46:20Speaker 18: What seems to make these networks unique is not just
- 46:23Speaker 18: the sheer number of cameras, it's the fact that they're
- 46:25Speaker 18: all linked together and powered and searchable by AI.
- 46:28Speaker 17: Police have said the cameras can be a key crime-fighting tool,
- 46:31Speaker 17: but some cities and states across the country are pausing
- 46:34Speaker 17: their use or installation as privacy concerns grow about what
- 46:38Speaker 17: data is.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Collected and who can access it.
- 46:40Speaker 17: The Flock CEO has defended the company but also acknowledges
- 46:43Speaker 17: concern about data retention and the need for accountability if
- 46:47Speaker 17: it's misused. AI executives are taking their recent warnings to
- 46:51Speaker 17: world leaders. just telling the U.N. Security Council that without intervention,
- 46:55Speaker 17: AI could be a risk to humanity as a whole.
- 46:59Speaker 17: President Trump has warned about the risks of losing the
- 47:02Speaker 17: AI race to China. He is set to welcome President
- 47:05Speaker 17: Xi for a White House summit.
- 47:06Speaker 19: The United States and China are probably the two most
- 47:09Speaker 19: powerful militaries in the world. The relationship between the United
- 47:12Speaker 19: States and China will define the 21st century.
- 47:14Speaker 17: Secretary of State Marco Rubio says there are strong points
- 47:18Speaker 17: of friction. Some Republicans want the president to press Xi online.
- 47:22Speaker 17: on reports of China giving Iran intelligence used to attack U.S.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Forces in the Middle East.
- 47:28Speaker 17: A former NFL star will accept a plea deal for
- 47:31Speaker 17: attempted murder. Antonio Brown's lawyer just confirming that with a
- 47:34Speaker 17: court appearance now set for next Wednesday. To finalize the deal,
- 47:38Speaker 17: the former wide receiver is accused of grabbing a security
- 47:41Speaker 17: officer's gun after a celebrity boxing match. In firing two
- 47:44Speaker 17: shots at a man he had had a fight with earlier,
- 47:46Speaker 17: Brown has said he was defending himself. He could face
- 47:49Speaker 17: up to 30 years in prison if convicted at trial,
- 47:51Speaker 17: but under the plea deal, expected to avoid prison. The
- 47:55Speaker 17: Dow down 351 at the bell. America's listening to Fox News.
- 48:01Speaker 14: Hello, everyone. This is Ainsley Earhart. Thank you for joining

- 49:00Speaker 1: A to Z dependable. Ron Verb on News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 49:04Speaker 2: All right, before I get back to the phone lines,
- 49:08Speaker 2: 405 here, Wednesday afternoon, 71 degrees. Ron Verb from the
- 49:13Speaker 2: Kingdom of Mahoning. I received this information. I want to
- 49:18Speaker 2: share it with you. So pay attention. The boss has
- 49:23Speaker 2: told me that the triumphant return of our podcast will
- 49:28Speaker 2: be back after tonight's show. Tonight's show will be the
- 49:33Speaker 2: triumphant return of our podcast on the iHeartRadio app. So
- 49:42Speaker 2: those of you that have emailed me, I appreciate your
- 49:45Speaker 2: patience as we try to work out a few snafus
- 49:48Speaker 2: that we had going on. I appreciate the fact that
- 49:50Speaker 2: you bring it to our attention, and I do appreciate that.
- 49:54Speaker 2: I appreciate the fact that you are looking for it,
- 49:57Speaker 2: but I'm here to say the triumphant return of our
- 50:00Speaker 2: podcast to the iHeartRadio app should happen after tonight's broadcast.
- 50:08Speaker 2: So tonight's broadcast should be the triumphant return post it
- 50:12Speaker 2: on the iHeart app. Okay? Couldn't be happier about it.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Couldn't be happier about it. So let's see. So anyway,
- 50:22Speaker 2: I was saying to Bubba Ganoush, he asked me yesterday,
- 50:26Speaker 2: he said, did you watch Trump's speech at the UN?
- 50:28Speaker 2: And I missed it. So I said to Bubba Ganoush,
- 50:31Speaker 2: I'm going to make sure I do that when I
- 50:32Speaker 2: go home.
- 50:33Speaker 7: Good.
- 50:34Speaker 2: And I fulfilled my pledge to Bubba Ganoush. And let
- 50:37Speaker 2: me tell you something. Here's what I loved about Trump's
- 50:41Speaker 2: speech at the U.N. It wasn't full of political BS
- 50:46Speaker 2: and the usual political speech, which is just a speech
- 50:50Speaker 2: which says a bunch of words, but doesn't doesn't really.
- 50:54Speaker 2: How do I put it? Says something but says nothing.
- 50:59Speaker 2: You follow me? That's what I know.
- 51:01Speaker 8: No, hang on.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Hang on.
- 51:02Speaker 6: Hang on.
- 51:03Speaker 2: I'm not done. That's what you would get in the past,
- 51:05Speaker 2: but not with Trump. I watched Trump's speech at the UN,
- 51:09Speaker 2: and Trump, he lays it right out. Trump laid it 100%
- 51:13Speaker 2: out with Iran, with Cuba, with everybody else. There's no soliloquies.
- 51:20Speaker 7: You know, Cuba left when he was talking.
- 51:22Speaker 6: Yep.
- 51:23Speaker 14: I saw it.
- 51:23Speaker 16: Yep.
- 51:26Speaker 7: Yes. Yes.
- 51:28Speaker 2: They walked out. Cuba walked out. But usually these speeches,
- 51:34Speaker 2: they say nothing and they mean nothing. But Trump has
- 51:39Speaker 2: the guts to say, this is where I'm at. This
- 51:43Speaker 2: is what I'm thinking. Iran, this is where we're heading. Hey,
- 51:49Speaker 2: over here, Cuba, this is what's happening. Hey, China. I mean,
- 51:57Speaker 2: he just he lays it all out so everybody can
- 52:01Speaker 2: understand what's going on and where he's at. I found
- 52:04Speaker 2: it refreshing.
- 52:06Speaker 14: I did, too.
- 52:08Speaker 2: I know you were the first one to report into
- 52:10Speaker 2: me that you said, did you see it? And you thought, okay.
- 52:16Speaker 2: I don't like the speeches that say nothing, that are
- 52:18Speaker 2: just full of, like, prose and this kind of stuff.
- 52:22Speaker 2: I just don't care for it. I like a guy talking.
- 52:25Speaker 7: I'm glad that he let the U.N. know what he's done.
- 52:31Speaker 7: You know, and how good our country is and everything
- 52:34Speaker 7: and what they should be doing, you know, with their
- 52:36Speaker 7: borders and everything else.
- 52:37Speaker 2: I mean, the deal with Greenland is a big deal.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Make no mistake. That is a win. That's a success.
- 52:44Speaker 2: It's huge for this country and the security of this country.
- 52:47Speaker 2: I mean, what he pulled off with Greenland without costing
- 52:50Speaker 2: taxpayers a dime is a substantial win for the United
- 52:54Speaker 2: States in our protection.
- 52:56Speaker 7: And also Venezuela without our taxpayer dollars.
- 52:59Speaker 2: I would agree with that. I would agree with that. Listen,
- 53:03Speaker 2: I'll be the first guy, and I'll say this to you.
- 53:05Speaker 2: I would be the first guy to say to you,
- 53:07Speaker 2: I would love for him to get this situation in
- 53:11Speaker 2: Iran resolved. First of all, let me back up with you,
- 53:14Speaker 2: and let me ask you this question. How pissed do
- 53:17Speaker 2: you think Trump is at Zelensky for not listening to him?
- 53:24Speaker 7: He wants to slap him upside his head so hard,
- 53:26Speaker 7: you won't believe it.
- 53:28Speaker 14: He told him, don't bomb any.
- 53:33Speaker 7: Diesel plants or anything. That's why the diesel's going up.
- 53:36Speaker 7: He's blowing up diesel plants over in Russia that supply
- 53:40Speaker 7: us our diesel.
- 53:42Speaker 6: Right.
- 53:43Speaker 2: I mean, so Trump says to Zelensky, don't do that.
- 53:47Speaker 2: I mean, Zelensky is escalating this.
- 53:50Speaker 7: Yeah, he needs to get smacked. This guy needs to
- 53:53Speaker 7: be put in handcuffs.
- 53:55Speaker 22: He's done.
- 53:56Speaker 2: I mean, Zelensky is really he disobeyed what Trump said.
- 54:02Speaker 7: No, it's not even that. He's not even the president.
- 54:05Speaker 7: He won't have any elections, Ron.
- 54:07Speaker 6: Right.
- 54:07Speaker 2: I mean, this guy is, Zelensky's totally out of control.
- 54:10Speaker 2: He's making this situation worse. And I think he's in town.
- 54:16Speaker 2: I think Trump, in my opinion, it's my speculation, I
- 54:20Speaker 2: think Trump will do an ass-chewing of Zelensky. Would you
- 54:23Speaker 2: agree with that?
- 54:24Speaker 7: All day.
- 54:25Speaker 14: All day.
- 54:26Speaker 7: And you know what? Caroline Leavitt was on Hannity on
- 54:29Speaker 7: the podcast, and she said he doesn't hold back. He said, well,
- 54:33Speaker 7: we're in the room. We can't believe he's talking like
- 54:35Speaker 7: that to these people.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Well, it's it's about time, don't you think?
- 54:41Speaker 7: Yeah, I would be the same way, Ron. Let me
- 54:43Speaker 7: tell you something. This guy's got my phone tag because
- 54:46Speaker 7: every time I talk about something with people, he does it.
- 54:50Speaker 7: And I'm like, oh, my God, that was my idea.
- 54:52Speaker 7: You know, so anyhow, it's OK. Hey, I got this
- 54:55Speaker 7: idea I want to share with you, OK? Listen to
- 54:57Speaker 7: me closely. Now, I'm putting it all together, and I'm
- 55:01Speaker 7: giving it to the mayor of Youngstown, the mayor of Struthers,
- 55:04Speaker 7: the mayor of Camel. And what I'm doing, Ron, is
- 55:08Speaker 7: I'm finding all the issues that people have, you know,
- 55:11Speaker 7: negative issues, okay, about the AI. Oh, I'm sorry, SI, okay?
- 55:17Speaker 14: You know the data centers?
- 55:18Speaker 16: Yes.
- 55:20Speaker 7: Okay. And I'm telling them flat out, hold.
- 55:26Speaker 8: On, hold on.
- 55:28Speaker 2: What are you going to do? Are you going to
- 55:29Speaker 2: a drive-thru? Are you ordering food or something?
- 55:31Speaker 23: No, no.
- 55:32Speaker 14: Oh, no.
- 55:33Speaker 2: So he wants the audience. All of you folks listening,
- 55:36Speaker 2: just hold on. Bubba Ganoush is a little busy right now.
- 55:39Speaker 2: He's putting us all on hold. We're all on hold.
- 55:42Speaker 7: No, I'm not. No, I'm not. I'll explain.
- 55:45Speaker 2: All right. Go ahead. Go ahead.
- 55:50Speaker 7: All right. I'm done.
- 55:51Speaker 14: Okay, here we go.
- 55:53Speaker 8: All right.
- 55:54Speaker 7: I'm putting together. Let me speak. So I'm putting together
- 55:57Speaker 7: something that is a proposal to bring the AI down
- 56:02Speaker 7: where the steel mills used to be, down, you know,
- 56:04Speaker 7: you know how you go to Camel and Lowville and
- 56:06Speaker 7: all that? You know, that dirty land down there? Now,
- 56:10Speaker 7: we got the railroad tracks, we got power lines, and
- 56:13Speaker 7: we got the water from the Mahoning River, okay? Now,
- 56:18Speaker 7: the rule is that they got to create their power,
- 56:21Speaker 7: plug any extra back in the system, and anybody in
- 56:23Speaker 7: that area gets free electric, okay?
- 56:26Speaker 6: No.
- 56:26Speaker 7: That's near the AI center.
- 56:27Speaker 2: Okay, that's never going to work.
- 56:29Speaker 8: Hold on.
- 56:30Speaker 2: This is really a dumb idea.
- 56:32Speaker 7: No, that's the deal. 1731, buddy. That's the deal. They're
- 56:34Speaker 7: doing it with other people.
- 56:36Speaker 2: What are you doing now? What, are you going through
- 56:38Speaker 2: a drive-thru?
- 56:39Speaker 7: No, I'm just paying the bill.
- 56:41Speaker 2: What are you paying?
- 56:44Speaker 7: I'm paying the bill. Okay. So, anyhow, listen to what
- 56:46Speaker 7: I'm saying. So, they're doing this. I look throughout the country.
- 56:50Speaker 7: They're doing this. They're telling the AI people they've got
- 56:53Speaker 7: to create their own power. Purify the water better than
- 56:57Speaker 7: what they got it.
- 56:58Speaker 2: All right. Listen, Einstein, tap the brakes for a minute.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Did you see 60 Minutes Sunday?
- 57:06Speaker 10: No.
- 57:07Speaker 2: All right. So here's my problem, and I want you
- 57:11Speaker 2: to consider this.
- 57:12Speaker 7: I'm all ears.
- 57:13Speaker 18: All right.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Thank you. Did you get your bill paid?
- 57:17Speaker 7: All done.
- 57:18Speaker 2: What were you paying? What was the bill for?
- 57:21Speaker 7: Nothing. I just got some sodas.
- 57:22Speaker 5: That's all.
- 57:23Speaker 6: Oh, okay. Okay.
- 57:25Speaker 2: You could say that. I mean, it's always this top secret.
- 57:27Speaker 2: What drive-thru did you go through? McDonald's?
- 57:30Speaker 7: No, no, no, no. My special place.
- 57:32Speaker 2: What's your special place?
- 57:33Speaker 7: On the up bar.
- 57:35Speaker 2: What's your special place? Where do you go get your sodas?
- 57:39Speaker 7: I go get them at an Iranian store.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Now, let me tell you something. Now, if you're talking,
- 57:46Speaker 2: here's what I... Just as a side note, and I'm
- 57:48Speaker 2: going to get to these AI centers momentarily, but.
- 57:52Speaker 2: It seems to me that if you want like a
- 57:55Speaker 2: really good soda, as you call it, I call it pop.
- 57:58Speaker 2: You always got to go through the McDonald's drive through
- 58:01Speaker 2: and get a standard Coke. There's something about McDonald's and
- 58:06Speaker 2: their Coke that is like second to none. I mean, yeah,
- 58:10Speaker 2: it's like, I don't know if it's their formula or
- 58:13Speaker 2: the fizz or what they have. It's a game changer.
- 58:18Speaker 2: It's an absolute game changer. Now, get a load of this. Now, I,
- 58:21Speaker 2: of course, have for the most part given up pop. See,
- 58:25Speaker 2: I'm drinking all of this Milo's unsweetened tea.
- 58:28Speaker 7: No, I drink water. I drink mostly water.
- 58:30Speaker 2: All right.
- 58:31Speaker 7: I get the sodas when I watch the.
- 58:34Speaker 2: Listen to me.
- 58:35Speaker 7: I have one soda.
- 58:36Speaker 2: Okay. Right. I understand you can get a craving for
- 58:38Speaker 2: a soda. But here's what I'm doing at Verb Manor, okay?
- 58:42Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 58:43Speaker 14: All right.
- 58:44Speaker 2: So I gave you the first tip. And I learned
- 58:47Speaker 2: this really from my wife. First and foremost, if you
- 58:52Speaker 2: want a really good standard Coke– You go through the
- 58:56Speaker 2: McDonald's drive-thru and you get the ice and the Coke.
- 59:00Speaker 2: It's the carbonation. It's the fizz, whatever. It's just really good.
- 59:05Speaker 2: It's always been one of the best that they have
- 59:07Speaker 2: at McDonald's. But now when it comes to, guess what
- 59:12Speaker 2: I've been doing. So if you go to Home Depot,
- 59:15Speaker 2: are you listening to me, Bubba Ganoush?
- 59:16Speaker 15: Go ahead.
- 59:17Speaker 14: I'm all ears, actually.
- 59:18Speaker 2: All right. They are carrying what's called Mexican Coke. And no,
- 59:22Speaker 2: that's not the kind you put up your nose. They're
- 59:24Speaker 2: carrying what's called Mexican Coke. Now, I never knew what
- 59:27Speaker 2: Mexican Coke was. My wife explained this to me. All right,
- 59:30Speaker 2: so it comes in a bottle. It comes in a
- 59:33Speaker 2: Coca-Cola bottle, and it is made the old-fashioned way with
- 59:39Speaker 2: real cane sugar. It doesn't have corn syrup or anything
- 59:42Speaker 2: like that in it. So you get the bottles the
- 59:45Speaker 2: size of a can, okay?
- 59:46Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 59:46Speaker 2: Now, you get 24 bottles for like $ 37 or $ 38.
- 59:48Speaker 2: So they're about less than $ 2 a bottle, but it's
- 59:52Speaker 2: not inexpensive.
- 59:52Speaker 6: Okay.
- 59:59Speaker 2: But it doesn't have all of the crap that you
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: get if you go buy a can of Coke at
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: the store. You follow me? The corn syrup and that
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: kind of stuff. So I was turned on to this
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: by a friend of mine. My wife first told me
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: about Mexican Coke. And then I ran into a friend
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: who said he just got a case of it at
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Home Depot. I said, Home Depot?
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: No.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: So they went to Home Depot and I bought a
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: case and it has– it doesn't have all the chemicals
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: in it. So go to Home Depot and buy yourself
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: a case of Mexican Coke and I think you'll really
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: enjoy it. Put it in a Bubba Ganoush refrigerator. Make
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: sure it's chilled properly. And next time you want a good–
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Coke outside of that and you're out driving, go through
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: the McDonald's drive-thru. I've given you all of my soda advice, okay?
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Did you write it down?
- 1:00:55Speaker 14: Yep.
- 1:00:55Speaker 7: Now back to the AI.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Okay, now I'm going to AI. I was talking about
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: 60 Minutes Sunday. This really, really chaps my hide. So
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: the guy, they were interviewing a guy that says, and
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: it was Amazon, right? Amazon wanted to buy all this
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: farmland in this guy's county and put an AI center there.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: They wanted, listen to me, Bubba Ganoush, they wanted a 90%
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: tax abatement for 30 years.
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: No, no tax abatement.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: Right, tap the brakes. So imagine, Amazon, one of the
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: richest guys around on the planet, and quite frankly, one
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: of the wealthiest companies, AWS and Amazon, they wanted a 30-year, 90%
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: tax abatement. So the guy in that county.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Had the guts to say, absolutely not. We are not
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: going to do that. And guess what Amazon did? They
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: went to the next county over where those spineless saps
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: in the next county over gave them a 30-year, 90%
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: tax abatement. Because, you know, that center won't even be
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: open 30 years from now, just based on technology. But
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: the county over, the next county over, gave Amazon a 30-year, 90%
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: tax abatement.
- 1:02:22Speaker 7: What state is this?
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: Texas.
- 1:02:26Speaker 7: Okay, Texas.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: All right, now, so let me go one step further.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: I am not opposed to these AI centers. These people
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: that are putting these moratoriums out there and all this
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: kind of stuff, you're fear-mongering on this kind of stuff.
- 1:02:40Speaker 7: Yeah, I heard they did that in McDonald, Ron.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: Okay, well, just hear me out. They're fear-mongering. Listen to me, folks.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: I am all for the following conditions. If you want
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: to build an AI center.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: In this area, you must provide your own power.
- 1:03:00Speaker 14: That's correct.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: All right. You're not going to shift the burden onto
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: our grid and raise our electric bills because of your
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: demand for electricity for your AI center. So that's number one.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: You have to provide your own power. Number two, you
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: have to show us the water consumption that you're going
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: to need to how the water is, how it's treated.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: We've got to know everything about the water.
- 1:03:25Speaker 7: That's part of my proposal.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Hang on. Some of them are using more water than
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: they initially said they would be using.
- 1:03:33Speaker 15: We want to know... Hang on.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: I'm not done, Bubba Ganoush. I'm not done. We want
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: to know exactly how much water you're going to use
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: And are you polluting it or not? We need to
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: know this stuff, okay? So that's number two. How much water?
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: What's the effect? And we're going to follow up on
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: this to make sure it's not polluted and our water
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: system isn't destroyed. We've got a lot of water around
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: here because of the steel mills. So we want to
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: know that you generate your own power. We have the water.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: We're a great spot for these AI centers. And absolutely
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: zero tax abatement, period. So if you build an AI center, folks,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: listen to me. I got a cough. If you build
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: an AI center, the levies, your property tax levies, your
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: fixed levies, not your inside millage, can only generate so
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: much money. So if that big AI center, you shift
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: the property taxes, you take a look at that center,
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: it has to pay property taxes. It should lower the
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: property taxes homeowners pay Because of the amount of property
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: taxes that AI centers should pay. That only works if
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: you have politicians that say absolutely zero tax abatement. The
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: state must say zero tax abatement and your local community
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: must say zero tax abatement because they need to be here.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: We have the best weather. It's not too hot. It's
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: not too cold. We have the best weather for AI centers.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: We have the water because of the steel mills. And
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: we don't have to kiss our arse on anything. No
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: tax abatement. We're going to want to know how much
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: water you're going to use, what the condition of it is,
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: how it's being treated. And we want to make sure
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: that you generate your own power so it doesn't raise
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: our electric bills. And potentially, like you said, you could
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: put power back in the grid. And then you should
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: embrace them. You shouldn't put moratoriums on this kind of stuff.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: You should embrace them because it can lower your property
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: taxes because we're all going to be using AI. Go ahead. Okay.
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: So that's part of my proposal, what you just said. Now,
- 1:05:41Speaker 7: on the aspect of power.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: That should be your whole proposal. That should be your
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: entire proposal.
- 1:05:46Speaker 8: Wait a minute.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Stand by. Let me do my break. That should be
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: your entire proposal. I don't know what else you could
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: add to it. I'm going to find out and get
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: to more calls right after this. Casual carpets is veteran owned.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: It's a WKBN and Ron from the kingdom of Mahoney.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: As I said, the big boss told me today that
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: for all the folks concerned about the podcast, it appears
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: everything should be good to go for, uh, today's program
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: to be podcast on the I heart app later today.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: So it should, our, our episode should return to the
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: I heart app. They've, they've been being posted, uh, on, uh, Facebook. Um,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: But not on the iHeart app. So they should return
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: to the iHeart app. That should happen two nights. News
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Radio 570, WKBN, and Ron Ferb. So what do you
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: have to add after I gave you those three things?
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: What possibly... Okay, listen. Yeah.
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: On the aspect of power, okay, they have generators that
- 1:06:50Speaker 7: can create their own power.
- 1:06:51Speaker 14: You're right.
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: Now.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Those are backup generators. Those are backup generators. They've got
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: to create their own power.
- 1:06:57Speaker 7: No, no, no, no. Listen.
- 1:06:58Speaker 18: Listen.
- 1:06:58Speaker 7: They're building them down in South Carolina. Now, listen to me.
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: Just let me talk.
- 1:07:02Speaker 10: Okay.
- 1:07:03Speaker 7: So, now, they've got to create to empower. Okay.
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: Using gas.
- 1:07:06Speaker 7: Okay. Now, the area that they put it in has
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: to be like in an old industrial site. You know, like,
- 1:07:13Speaker 7: I don't know what you call that ground. I forget. Brownfield.
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: That's where they build it. Now, perfect location, Ron.
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: Think of this.
- 1:07:22Speaker 7: You ever go down, not Wilson Avenue, but, yeah, Wilson Avenue.
- 1:07:28Speaker 7: You know how you go straight down there and it
- 1:07:29Speaker 7: takes you into Camel and then eventually into Lowville? You
- 1:07:33Speaker 7: know all that land there? Now, you're down low, so
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: the sound won't bother anybody. You've got a river there.
- 1:07:41Speaker 7: You've got power lines there. You've got substations to tap into.
- 1:07:47Speaker 7: It's all set up. I mean, we can have, like,
- 1:07:50Speaker 7: four or five different data centers in that area.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: I'm not opposed to putting them in those areas as
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: opposed to destroying great farmland. I'm not opposed to.
- 1:07:59Speaker 14: That at all.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: All right, so I'll give you that.
- 1:08:03Speaker 7: The electricity that they make. Now, I didn't make up
- 1:08:07Speaker 7: this idea. I got this idea from a guy that's
- 1:08:09Speaker 7: running for governor of a bank. The energy that's being
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: generated is going to go back into the grid extra.
- 1:08:17Speaker 7: And all the people in the surrounding area of that
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: data center get free electricity.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: Well, that's not going to happen. All right, enough. Thank you,
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Bubba Ganoush. No, that's it. I can't take it anymore.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: We're not going to be giving free electricity to people.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: I mean, any electricity that they produce that's beyond what
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: they use should go back into the system because we
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: need more electricity to lower our electric bills. So I'm
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: with you on that kind of stuff. All right. You're
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: on here. Oh, it's JJ, the Trumpster.
- 1:08:57Speaker 23: You know, I'm still in on that check.
- 1:08:59Speaker 7: I have to go.
- 1:08:59Speaker 23: I'm going my way back up to put clothes in
- 1:09:01Speaker 23: the dryer now.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: When I drive by, folks, this is where I'm at
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: in my life. When I go by the laundromats in
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: the Cornersburg area, I almost want to go in and
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: see if JJ's in there washing his skivvies. I mean, because.
- 1:09:15Speaker 23: Right now I've been doing this and I've been between
- 1:09:17Speaker 23: cutting the grass and taking care of the food.
- 1:09:21Speaker 8: Why are you washing?
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Why are you washing clothes every day? Don't you go
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: up every few days? Seems like you're.
- 1:09:28Speaker 7: Listen, you ought to know better.
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: I have a wife.
- 1:09:31Speaker 7: OK, that's first and foremost.
- 1:09:33Speaker 23: I have a wife and I have a an eight
- 1:09:35Speaker 23: year old. So, I mean, that's that's where all the
- 1:09:39Speaker 23: clothes are coming from. So I I need to get
- 1:09:42Speaker 23: that five grand. So I don't know what you need
- 1:09:44Speaker 23: to do to pull some strings here, my friend, but
- 1:09:48Speaker 23: that check I got is a paperweight right now.
- 1:09:51Speaker 7: So I don't know.
- 1:09:52Speaker 23: If I'm being messed with or what, but.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: I want to understand something, though.
- 1:09:56Speaker 23: I'm passing the construction over here, and I'm seeing gates,
- 1:10:01Speaker 23: and I'm seeing.
- 1:10:01Speaker 24: Oh, yeah, I see.
- 1:10:02Speaker 7: You, pal.
- 1:10:03Speaker 23: You know, I'm... This is ridiculous. I'm coming to rule today, man.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: Okay, so wait a minute. You're going too fast. J.J.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: the Trumpster just passed the new Sheetz location that's being
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: built right there in Cornersburg. And what, a construction worker?
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: You said same to you, pal?
- 1:10:26Speaker 23: He knows me because I came up here and I
- 1:10:27Speaker 23: have a sign around my neck saying, you know, anti-sheets.
- 1:10:30Speaker 23: And he's always throwing me the finger. So I'm throwing
- 1:10:33Speaker 23: him the one.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: You want to take.
- 1:10:36Speaker 24: Me up the street.
- 1:10:36Speaker 7: What the hell, man?
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: You want sheets. You want sheets there.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: Get away, man.
- 1:10:41Speaker 23: Get away from me.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: Jeez, oh, man.
- 1:10:44Speaker 7: This is crazy, man.
- 1:10:45Speaker 23: Jeez, I can't even live in this. So anyway, this
- 1:10:48Speaker 23: is what I'm dealing with. You know, I've got a
- 1:10:50Speaker 23: $ 5, 000 paperweight sitting at home, and now I've got this guy.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: He's ready to.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Okay, so you're going to the laundromat is what you're saying. Again,
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: stand by. I'm going to get back to you. J.J.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: the Trumpster, his life is falling apart. I'll be right
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: back with him.
- 1:11:08Speaker 8: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 1:11:15Speaker 25: The attorney for the man charged in the stabbing of
- 1:11:16Speaker 25: Gibsonburg police officer Maria Kisha is withdrawing his client's request
- 1:11:21Speaker 25: for a competency hearing.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Scott Dodd Jr.
- 1:11:24Speaker 25: Reportedly stabbed Kisha on August 26th as she tried to
- 1:11:27Speaker 25: remove him from a Union Bank branch where he was
- 1:11:30Speaker 25: allegedly trespassing. Dodd is charged with felonious assault and has
- 1:11:34Speaker 25: pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Dodd's attorney says
- 1:11:37Speaker 25: he believes his client is competent to stand trial. And
- 1:11:40Speaker 25: a Lionel Richie concert in Columbus is now canceled for
- 1:11:43Speaker 25: the second time this year. A spokesperson for the four-time
- 1:11:45Speaker 25: Grammy winner says the October 2nd performance at the Shonstein
- 1:11:48Speaker 25: Center is not happening. due to Richie's health complications. The
- 1:11:52Speaker 25: 77-year-old singer is taking time after undergoing a procedure for
- 1:11:56Speaker 25: atrial fibrillation, according to USA Today. The October concert in
- 1:12:00Speaker 25: Columbus was a make-up date scheduled after a June show
- 1:12:03Speaker 25: was canceled as well. I'm Brady Hopkins.
- 1:12:20Speaker 8: On News Radio 570, WKBN.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: I tell you, man, that 60-minute show, though, on Sunday
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: was just, how stupid is it to give Amazon, as
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: they did in Texas, that county, a 30-year 90% tax abatement?
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: Because that AI center isn't going to be around 30
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: years from now. I mean, it's just it's so stupid
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: and disrespectful to the property tax owners in those communities.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: And they're building them in Texas on this virgin, beautiful farmland.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: And kudos. I mean, it seems to me that which
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: I got to talk to Dave Thomas about this. The
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: state of Ohio should forbid any tax abatements for any
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: AI center. And I go back to say, we are
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: the sweet spot for them because we got the right weather.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: Isn't too hot, isn't too cold. We have the water here.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Everything's here. But under no circumstances should they ever get
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: any tax abatement, period. Or any tax break at all. Zero.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: We're in the driver's seat here. So you show us
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: how you can generate your power so it doesn't raise...
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: our rates. You show us how much water you need
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: in the process so that we can verify that the
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: water's good when you're done with it. And you pay
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: your taxes and your property taxes and we shift a
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: lot of the burden of fixed levy cost onto those
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: facilities and ease that burden on our homeowners. That's why
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: I'm against moratoriums on AI centers. You're cutting your own throat.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: They're going to go somewhere because it's going to happen.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: It's going to happen. So don't cut your throat about
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: the future. Take advantage of it. Embrace it. Get something
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: from it. Don't let others get it. You're on the air.
- 1:14:27Speaker 7: Mr.
- 1:14:27Speaker 10: Ver, how you been?
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: I am well. I am well.
- 1:14:31Speaker 10: You're about 40 years late to the party. That's what
- 1:14:35Speaker 10: I've been trying to tell you since I've been calling
- 1:14:38Speaker 10: you on the phone. Eisenhower said it well. Beware of
- 1:14:43Speaker 10: the military-industrial complex. It's upon you, my friend. It's upon you.
- 1:14:49Speaker 10: All of these places, how many AI centers does Ohio
- 1:14:54Speaker 10: have right now? Do you have any?
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: Oh, I have no idea. There's a bunch of them.
- 1:15:01Speaker 10: I heard there was 200. I don't know if that's
- 1:15:04Speaker 10: true or not.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: I don't know, but there's a lot of them. But
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: here's my rub on this.
- 1:15:09Speaker 10: Oh, no, I understand it perfectly.
- 1:15:11Speaker 15: You know what?
- 1:15:12Speaker 10: It's not going to happen because big business is going
- 1:15:16Speaker 10: to run out every time. So your tax abatements, you
- 1:15:21Speaker 10: can forget about that.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: Oh, bull crap.
- 1:15:24Speaker 10: No, forget about it. Because they'll just go to another county.
- 1:15:29Speaker 10: And whoever's running that county, if they want that business
- 1:15:32Speaker 10: bad enough, they're going to take it. You're talking too
- 1:15:35Speaker 10: much like a Democrat now. That's what I've been trying
- 1:15:39Speaker 10: to preach to you for the last 10 years that
- 1:15:42Speaker 10: I've been calling you.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: You've got to lower your volume on your phone.
- 1:15:46Speaker 10: So you really do. All right, now, listen. Okay, I'm listening.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: I am going to... After the election, I am going
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: to have an on-air meeting with Dave Thomas, state rep.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: And I'm positive already that he's on the same page,
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: that he's against any tax abatements going to AI centers.
- 1:16:09Speaker 10: It will happen. It will happen. That's why you're paying
- 1:16:13Speaker 10: a lot more. It's not just AI. It's been all
- 1:16:17Speaker 10: the businesses that have moved into Ohio or wherever in
- 1:16:22Speaker 10: the country.
- 1:16:23Speaker 15: You're right about that.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: I am against tax abatements, period. Okay, so you've outed me.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: I am against tax abatements, period. I think it's bullcrap.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: I think it's absolute bullcrap to give anybody a tax abatement.
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: If you want to build a business here or you
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: want to build an AI center here, you pay your
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: damn property taxes instead of shifting more burden to the homeowner. Period.
- 1:16:50Speaker 10: Ain't going to happen. Ain't going to happen. The businesses
- 1:16:53Speaker 10: hold the states hostage. You want my business? I get
- 1:16:58Speaker 10: 30-year tax abatement or whatever, 10-year. And you flip the bill.
- 1:17:04Speaker 10: You do. That's why we have such high property tax.
- 1:17:09Speaker 10: It's not– you don't have to be a Philly lawyer
- 1:17:13Speaker 10: to figure it out.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: And listen, I'm just....
- 1:17:21Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: I'm just trying to tell you.
- 1:17:24Speaker 10: That's exactly why we're in the position we're in. I've
- 1:17:28Speaker 10: read you article after article after article out of the paper,
- 1:17:32Speaker 10: but you don't pay attention. You're not paying attention. You think, oh, you... Anyway. Oh,
- 1:17:38Speaker 10: I get so pissed.
- 1:17:40Speaker 7: Off at you.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Why are you getting so pissed off at me? I
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: am trying to.
- 1:17:45Speaker 8: Listen.
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: Listen.
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: This is exactly what I've.
- 1:17:49Speaker 10: Been talking about for a long time. It didn't used
- 1:17:56Speaker 10: to be that way and you know it. When the
- 1:17:58Speaker 10: steel mills were in here, they paid their fair share.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: I'm the last guy you should get upset with.
- 1:18:05Speaker 10: I know, but I'm upset with you because you keep
- 1:18:07Speaker 10: talking about those stupid Coca-Colas that you keep.
- 1:18:11Speaker 14: Drinking all the time.
- 1:18:12Speaker 7: No, I don't.
- 1:18:12Speaker 10: You're going over to the Mexican Coke.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: No, I'm going to. I'll explain that momentarily. Wait a minute.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: I'm trying.
- 1:18:18Speaker 15: I heard it.
- 1:18:19Speaker 10: I know all about it.
- 1:18:20Speaker 15: It doesn't have the chemicals in it. I've got to
- 1:18:23Speaker 15: do something.
- 1:18:23Speaker 10: It's probably twice the price.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: I'm going to find out something. You know what I mean?
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: Because you just got to bear with me here, because
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: this is how I got to do stuff. I mean,
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: just how it is. I want to see if I can.
- 1:18:36Speaker 10: You sound like Bubba Galoosh now.
- 1:18:37Speaker 14: We got to wait for you.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: Yes. What are you doing? I'm trying to make a
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: phone call.
- 1:18:42Speaker 15: Okay. I'm making a phone call.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 1:18:46Speaker 10: Okay.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: I was trying to make a phone call off the
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: air to Dave Thomas. Because here's the difference between you
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: and me.
- 1:18:56Speaker 14: What?
- 1:18:57Speaker 10: About 12 years.
- 1:18:58Speaker 16: Go ahead.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: Oh, you had to go there. Here's the difference between
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: you and me.
- 1:19:03Speaker 14: Yeah, I'm about 5'7.
- 1:19:04Speaker 10: I think I'm 5'8.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: Okay. So here's what's going on. I am saying to you,
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: talk is cheap, deeds are precious. When it comes to
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: AI centers, I believe, and I wanted to verify, that
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Dave Thomas, state rep, is on the same page as
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: I am with absolutely zero tax abatements for AI centers.
- 1:19:30Speaker 10: Don't make that phone call. Dave Thomas can bang his
- 1:19:33Speaker 10: head against the wall. He can tell you.
- 1:19:35Speaker 15: Anything he wants.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: So listen to you.
- 1:19:37Speaker 10: The powers to be, the powers to be are not
- 1:19:41Speaker 10: going to let, it's not going to happen.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: So you know what? All you do is discourage us
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: from fighting.
- 1:19:48Speaker 10: We're not trying to discourage you.
- 1:19:49Speaker 14: Yes, you are.
- 1:19:50Speaker 10: I want you to face reality.
- 1:19:51Speaker 8: No, you're telling me right now.
- 1:19:52Speaker 10: I told you a long time ago.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: You're telling me right now. Don't waste your time. Don't
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: waste your effort. I'm telling you, I will waste my
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: time and effort to go through this process with Dave
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Thomas and Tex Fisher and these guys to say we've
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: got to make sure that under no circumstances any AI
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: center gets any property tax abatement. I believe Dave Thomas
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: is on the page. I just wanted to verify it.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: And so I'm trying to make sure that happens. And
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: you're telling me, don't waste your time. Well, I'm going
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: to waste my time because I think that is a
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: reality that can happen. I'm not going to get discouraged
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: and give up like you want me to do.
- 1:20:31Speaker 10: I don't want you to give up anything.
- 1:20:34Speaker 15: Yes, you are.
- 1:20:35Speaker 10: I want you to fight the good fight.
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: You're telling me to throw in the towel.
- 1:20:39Speaker 10: Because what you're talking about is the reality that it
- 1:20:43Speaker 10: should happen that way. What you're saying is, yes, that's
- 1:20:46Speaker 10: what everybody wants. That's going to happen.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:20:50Speaker 10: I'm not trying to be discouraging.
- 1:20:53Speaker 15: I'm just telling you.
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: I've told you and I've said to you, not just AI,
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: I want you to hear this loud and clear. I
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: am opposed to any property tax abatement to any business
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: at all. And I still see it going on by
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: my elected officials. I am against any tax abatements because
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: it's not right for existing homeowners paying these outrageous taxes.
- 1:21:20Speaker 10: I agree 1,000%.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: And I'm against any of them. If you want to
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: build a business here, you pay the property taxes because
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: you're using those services just as everyone else is. You
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: should not be exempt for it. And as a matter
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: of fact, I've got to make a diligent effort for
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: as long as I'm around to report back to you
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: when these people are getting tax abatements, which is wrong.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: But I'm against them 100%. Now, I put that to rest. Now,
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: I want you to hear this. Now, you have to listen, okay?
- 1:21:48Speaker 16: Okay.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Are you listening? So Baba Ganoush says about buying Coke,
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: I said to him, the best Coke you'll get is
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: when you go through the McDonald's drive-thru, buy a standard Coke.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: It's got the good fizz and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: I was giving him advice on where he can get
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: a good Coke. Now, I want you to understand, my
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: wife has said that for years, and I don't drink
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: nearly For the longest time, I didn't drink any pop
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: at all, and I will have an occasional one very infrequently.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: Listen to me. I'm listening. Okay, I'll have one very
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: infrequently that I will have one. But so I'm not
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: drinking them every day. Now, my wife says and she's smart.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: She says, I never knew about Mexican Coke.
- 1:22:41Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: And Mexican Coke.
- 1:22:43Speaker 10: You've got to get out a little bit more because
- 1:22:44Speaker 10: it's been around for quite a while.
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: I understand that. But I didn't pay attention to it.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: That's why I got a wife.
- 1:22:49Speaker 10: There you go. Not paying attention.
- 1:22:51Speaker 16: OK.
- 1:22:51Speaker 15: I have a wife.
- 1:22:51Speaker 10: She paid attention.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: She says, so anyway, I buy this 24-pack. It comes
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: in bottles at Home Depot.
- 1:23:03Speaker 10: I heard the whole thing.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: Okay, a Mexican Coke.
- 1:23:05Speaker 10: I've had it before. I know exactly what it is.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: And it's in the refrigerator. I don't drink it every day.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: My wife will have one occasionally. I'll have one occasionally. And–
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: It's the size of one can of pop, but it's
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: in a bottle, and it's real sugar. It doesn't have
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: all the course.
- 1:23:22Speaker 7: It's a cane sugar.
- 1:23:23Speaker 14: Yes.
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: It's a cane sugar.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: I got to watch my sugar content so I don't drink.
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: A lot of it.
- 1:23:29Speaker 10: It's still sugar.
- 1:23:31Speaker 8: Yeah, but you're disappointed.
- 1:23:33Speaker 10: Do you have to do the job every day or not?
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: Do I have to do what?
- 1:23:38Speaker 10: The job every day.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: No, I don't do that.
- 1:23:41Speaker 10: Do you have diabetes?
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: No, I do not have diabetes. I'm just watching.
- 1:23:44Speaker 10: You've been talking about this Coke and this for quite
- 1:23:47Speaker 10: a while.
- 1:23:48Speaker 15: I do not have.
- 1:23:48Speaker 10: It sounds like you have to watch your sugar intake.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: I don't have diabetes. I'm just watching.
- 1:23:54Speaker 10: But you have to watch your sugar intake.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: I'm trying to have less sugar intake. Yes, that's a.
- 1:24:00Speaker 10: Good thing for your health.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: I don't have diabetes.
- 1:24:02Speaker 10: Here's a novel idea. Don't buy it.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: No, I want to have it occasionally. Part of life
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: is enjoying some things in your life. Do you occasionally
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: have a pop? Yes or no?
- 1:24:14Speaker 7: A pop?
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:24:15Speaker 10: Oh, nearly.
- 1:24:16Speaker 8: Okay, but you do.
- 1:24:17Speaker 10: I have a granddaughter that comes over once in a while,
- 1:24:21Speaker 10: and she likes to have a Coke, and my son
- 1:24:24Speaker 10: yells at me because I give her a Coke.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: All right, but do you.
- 1:24:27Speaker 10: But I might have something in the house here once
- 1:24:32Speaker 10: in a while.
- 1:24:32Speaker 8: Exactly.
- 1:24:33Speaker 10: I'm not saying that, but I'm just... The way you
- 1:24:35Speaker 10: talk about it, it sounds like that you have a
- 1:24:38Speaker 10: problem with this sugar situation. I think your wife is
- 1:24:42Speaker 10: all new about it. And you're not really paying attention.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: I am paying attention to it. I go get my physicals.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: They take the blood. And I am not a diabetic.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: My sugar is higher than it should be. My doctor
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: would like it to be lower. So I started taking
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: what's called metformin that lowers your sugar. And I haven't
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: been drinking a lot of pop at all. is what
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: I'm saying to you. If I have an occasional one,
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: my wife thinks you're much better off having, my wife
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: does not, has never been a believer in margarine. She
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: thinks the real thing is better. Butter's better than margarine.
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: And for example, if I have a Coke or she
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: has a Coke, she would rather have a Coke that
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: has cane sugar in it, not corn syrup and that
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: kind of stuff. So it's not like we're slugging them
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: down every day. Now, and I don't drink a lot
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: of beer. Occasionally I'll have a beer and I'll have
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: this Michelob Ultra, which has less carbs in it.
- 1:25:45Speaker 7: I thought you.
- 1:25:46Speaker 10: Were to be a yingling guy.
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: No, I know. I am not. So it's this Michelob
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: Ultra that has less carbs, and it's a good beer.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: And she is basically, when she brings beer to the house,
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: because she's in charge of supplies, she brings that in,
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: and it's very good. So I'm on the right path here, okay?
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: A guy like you, though, is raising my blood pressure
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: because you're... I'm.
- 1:26:14Speaker 10: Not trying to do that.
- 1:26:15Speaker 8: Yes, you are.
- 1:26:17Speaker 24: I am.
- 1:26:18Speaker 10: I am elated. I'm just elated that you hit the
- 1:26:23Speaker 10: nail right on the head, finally. You're talking about something
- 1:26:27Speaker 10: that I've been pushing for the past 10 years. That's
- 1:26:30Speaker 10: why our taxes are sky high. These people are paying
- 1:26:33Speaker 10: their fair share.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: Right. I'm on it, okay? Your phone is distorted. You've
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: got to turn down the.
- 1:26:41Speaker 10: I've got a speakerphone here.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: All right. I've got to go. All right. Because I've
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: had enough of you.
- 1:26:49Speaker 10: Okay, goodbye.
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: Goodbye. You think this is easy? I'm on the verge
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: of a nervous breakdown. You're on the air.
- 1:27:00Speaker 14: Yeah, run.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: How about down to Steel Mill State?
- 1:27:04Speaker 23: Give them that land to build the AI zone.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: I'm not forgiving them anything. I mean, if it's the
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: right amount of land and works out, I'm not opposed
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: to it.
- 1:27:16Speaker 6: Oh, that's his voice.
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: They're going down there in the Mahoney River.
- 1:27:19Speaker 14: It's right there.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not opposed to it.
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: I just thought... All right, you're doing.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: Too much thinking. You're on the air.
- 1:27:27Speaker 14: Ron, how you doing?
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: Good.
- 1:27:30Speaker 14: Hey, you know what?
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: Here's my opinion. I hate to be derogative or whatever, but...
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: I think the AI centers are going to pay off
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: all the criminals that are involved in our government around
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: this area and buy them all off and screw the
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: taxpayers because they're going to get paid under the table.
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: We ain't going to know nothing about it. We ain't
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: going to have no say so about it. And the
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: taxpayer is going to get screwed as usual. That's what
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: I think is going to happen with these AI centers.
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but look at all of it. Before you make
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: an assumption like that, look at all the input you
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: had on this new $ 60 million project to buy Eastern
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: Gateway and rip it down and build the new governments. Oh,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: wait a minute. You didn't have any input on that
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: at all. No, I didn't either. As a matter of fact,
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: they didn't ask you anything other than you're going to
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: get the bill and you're going to get the debt.
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: You might be right about that.
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: I think I'm dead right about it, because if they
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: did that to that, what do you think they're going
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: to do with the AI centers?
- 1:28:25Speaker 7: That's my point.
- 1:28:26Speaker 16: Right.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: I mean, these people do stuff like the county commissioners decide, oh,
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: we're going to do this. It's a lousy location. There's
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: no parking. But we're going to put your county in
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: debt and stick you with the tab, even if we
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: vote you out of office. office we're going to do
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: all of that because we know what's best for you
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: this is the arrogance of of those people so you're
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: saying that they'll have the same arrogance and doing this
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: stuff and screw me as well.
- 1:28:51Speaker 7: Yeah, they're all a bunch of crooks.
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: They're all in there for the paychecks, and they get
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: bribed and paid off, and they screw the taxpayers. That's
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: my point on the whole thing, Rob. We're always going
- 1:29:03Speaker 5: to get screwed because we don't have that many honest
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: people that look out for the taxpayer people.
- 1:29:08Speaker 7: That's what I'm talking about.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: Well, you got Dave Thomas doing it from his estate rep,
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: I'm telling you.
- 1:29:13Speaker 5: Well, yes, I agree with that.
- 1:29:15Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: All right, we'll be right back.
- 1:29:22Speaker 8: You don't pay for iHeartRadio. Our advertisers do.
- 1:29:25Speaker 21: That's why it's always been and always will be 100% free.
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: Radio, music, podcasts. Download the iHeartRadio app now.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Weather and talk station 570 WKBN.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: And from News Radio 570 WKBN and Ron Verb, your
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: fearless leader from the kingdom. of Mahoney here on a
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: day where we have 70 degrees, a pleasant Wednesday afternoon.
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: So the podcast issue looks like it has been solved.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: I just want to make that announcement. The big boss
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: said to me today. I'll read it. After several weeks,
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: this has been restored. We are populating past episodes now,
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: and they should all be up this evening. Many have
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: already landed. All right. So when it comes to our podcast,
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: some of them, we were having some technical problems. I'm
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: just going to be straightforward with you. And some of
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: them would appear on our Facebook page.
- 1:30:19Speaker 13: Okay.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: You could always access them on our Facebook page, but
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: they weren't landing on the iHeart app. because of some
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: equipment changes. And now I'm told the past episodes will
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: be posted and the new ones will be posted on
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: the iHeart app. And I want to thank those people,
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: all of them, who took.
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: I mean, so your voices are heard. We appreciate you listening.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: I appreciate you listening to the live broadcast. And I
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: appreciate those of you that have to listen to the podcast.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: I genuinely appreciate it. Listen, I'm working my best for you.
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: And I sit here and I say this on a
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: regular basis. I want the best for all of you.
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: It doesn't matter whether you agree or disagree with me.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: I think we're all getting shortchanged in many ways. And
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: I talk about this on a regular basis to all
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: of you. I think you deserve better public servants. I
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: think many of these people are in it for a paycheck,
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: in it for notoriety or their ego or whatever it is.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: They're not public servants. And it's few and far between
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: that I can find over my 41 years on this
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: radio station of people that fall into that category. Ralph Meacham,
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: I believe, is a public servant. Dave Thomas is a
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: public servant. I mean, there are few, and Pat Giannetti's
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: a public servant. I think there are few and far
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: between that you find people that go beyond your expectations.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: And it's refreshing that you always leave people out. But
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: there's very few of them that fall into that category.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: And I understand why you get frustrated. Believe me, I
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: do as well. You deserve better than this. And that's
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: why I say, I'm against all tax abatements for any
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: business coming here. Pay your fair share. You're using our services.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: Don't stick it on the homeowners. AI centers should come
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: here with ramifications that I gave you because I want
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: to see your tax bill lowered, not increased. And I
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: want to see electric bills go down. That's why I
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: try to explain to you what's going on as far
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: as electricity is concerned. Anyway, we'll come back with more.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: After the break at 5 with another hour straight ahead.
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: In Canfield, it's where you go for lumber. It's where
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: you go for decking. It's where you go for Anderson
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: windows with the Great Window Warehouse. It's where you go
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: for Silver Creek Kitchen cabinets. Hey, I'm telling you, it's
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: all full of terrific products and great savings. It's a
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: stop you got to make. Let's talk a little bit, Mike,
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: about decking these days. What do you have for me?
- 1:33:03Speaker 6: Well, if you're working on a decking project, we have
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: treated lumber.
- 1:33:06Speaker 26: We have 4x4s. We have treated decking. We have composite decking.
- 1:33:11Speaker 26: We have Trex, some colors in stock, and we have
- 1:33:14Speaker 26: a few big piles of closeout decking.
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: A lot of colors to choose from. It's worth a visit.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: Absolutely. Folks, I can tell you personally, I bought some
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: of that closedout decking, and it's terrific. Saved a bundle
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: on so much at Bernard Daniels 250 Railroad Streets in Canfield.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: What are the hours, Mike?
- 1:33:31Speaker 6: We're here Monday through Friday, 730 to 5, Saturday, 8
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: to noon.
- 1:33:35Speaker 12: Celebrating 100 years as the Valley's trusted news, weather, and
- 1:33:40Speaker 12: talk station, 570 WKBN, Youngstown.
- 1:33:51Speaker 17: A walkout at the U.N. Melissa Brady, Fox News.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: The U.S.
- 1:33:55Speaker 17: Delegation leaving as Iran's president accused the U.S. of being
- 1:33:58Speaker 17: terrorists and said Iran has only defended itself during his
- 1:34:02Speaker 17: speech to the U.N.
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: General Assembly.
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: Must be understood by Mr.
- 1:34:07Speaker 26: Trump and those who seek to bully us that we
- 1:34:09Speaker 26: are ready for dialogue and diplomacy and negotiations without accepting
- 1:34:14Speaker 26: the language of force.
- 1:34:15Speaker 17: President Pozeshkin also saying peace will not come on the
- 1:34:18Speaker 17: field of battle.
- 1:34:19Speaker 19: Every American president and frankly every country in the world
- 1:34:22Speaker 19: for the most part agrees that Iran can never have
- 1:34:25Speaker 19: a nuclear weapon. But ultimately, no one ever does anything
- 1:34:28Speaker 19: about it. And he's going to do something about it.
- 1:34:30Speaker 17: Secretary of State Marco Rubio says President Trump has also
- 1:34:33Speaker 17: made clear Iran is not a political issue for him.
- 1:34:36Speaker 17: But Iran is part of the affordability concern heading into
- 1:34:39Speaker 17: the midterms.
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: Michigan families are struggling with the price of everyday life.
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: Groceries cost too much.
- 1:34:44Speaker 8: We have to bring prices down.
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: The war with Iran needs to end, and end quickly.
- 1:34:50Speaker 17: That's a new ad from Republican Mike Rogers facing progressive
- 1:34:53Speaker 17: Democrat Abdullah Syed in the Michigan Senate race. House Republican
- 1:34:57Speaker 17: conference chair Lisa McClain tells Fox there's agreement on ending
- 1:35:00Speaker 17: the conflict as soon as possible.
- 1:35:02Speaker 27: I shop at the same grocery stores and fill my
- 1:35:04Speaker 27: tank up at the same gas stations everyone else does.
- 1:35:07Speaker 27: But what we also have to make sure is the
- 1:35:09Speaker 27: number one sponsor of terror does not have a nuclear weapon.
- 1:35:13Speaker 27: And they also that Iran does not hold the world's energy.
- 1:35:18Speaker 7: Hostage.
- 1:35:18Speaker 17: No word of any breakthroughs after several hours of indirect
- 1:35:21Speaker 17: talks between U.S.
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: And Iranian officials yesterday.
- 1:35:24Speaker 17: President Trump giving a lavish welcome to China's President Xi,
- 1:35:28Speaker 17: who begins a White House visit tonight.
- 1:35:30Speaker 21: Trade and AI will dominate the talks.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: Not everyone is excited about the visit.
- 1:35:34Speaker 21: China has been accused of sharing targeting information with Iran
- 1:35:38Speaker 21: to kill American troops.
- 1:35:39Speaker 17: Fox's Lucas Tomlinson at the White House. America is listening
- 1:35:44Speaker 17: to Fox News.
- 1:35:50Speaker 20: History isn't just in textbooks.
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: It's the story of us, the United States.
- 1:35:54Speaker 20: 2026 marks 250 years of America. And throughout the year,
- 1:35:59Speaker 20: Bill Hammer takes listeners on a journey through the 250
- 1:36:02Speaker 20: most impactful moments in American history. From the spark of
- 1:36:05Speaker 20: revolution to the battles for freedom. The ideas, inventions, and
- 1:36:09Speaker 20: decisions that changed the world. The 250 most impactful moments
- 1:36:14Speaker 20: in American history podcast.
- 1:36:16Speaker 8: Listen and follow now at foxnewspodcast.com.
- 1:36:20Speaker 12: You never know who might be taking the quiz.
- 1:36:24Speaker 8: Hi, everyone. It's Candace Cameron-Buray.
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: Hey, everyone.
- 1:36:27Speaker 8: It's Phil Simms. It's Dolores Catania. Hey, everyone. I'm Kix Brooks.
- 1:36:31Speaker 8: It's Candace Bushnell. I'm Rob Paulson.
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: I'm Ryan Serhant.
- 1:36:34Speaker 8: Hey, everyone. I'm Nicole Polizzi.
- 1:36:36Speaker 14: Hey, everybody.
- 1:36:37Speaker 8: It's Kevin Nealon. What's up, guys?
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: It's Nia Su, and it's time to take the quiz.
- 1:36:41Speaker 22: Five questions in less than five minutes every day.
- 1:36:45Speaker 8: Listen and follow at thequiz.fox. From the A to Z.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: I was just sitting here during the break. 505, incidentally.
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: Ron Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoning on this Wednesday,
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: September 23rd. 70 degrees. A pleasant Wednesday out there for
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: a change. It isn't raining for a change. That's kind
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: of nice. And let's see. On Saturday, September 26th. That's
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: three days from today. this radio station turns 100 years old.
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: That's the birthday of WKBN Radio. It's officially 100 years
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: old on Saturday, which is quite an impressive accomplishment. It
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: really is. So on Friday, I.
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: Think.
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: I was talking to a buddy, Tim, who's worked at
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: the station. He should join me to talk a little
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: bit about our history. And I got to think about,
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: I'd love to, I don't know if.
- 1:38:07Speaker 23: J.D.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: Williamson's going to be in town on Friday or not.
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: One of the founding family members of this great radio station,
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: his father, His father and then his brother Bud and J.D.,
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: the Williamson's family. As this radio station turns 100 on Sunday.
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: which is a hell of an accomplishment. And I'm honored
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: to say that I've been here for 41 on the
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: air of this radio station for 41 years of the 100.
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: And that's been an honor for me. Through the Williamson's
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: owned it, then it was J.Core bought it, then Clear
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: Channel and iHeart. So it's been through numerous owners over
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: the period of time. And things have changed and technology
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: has changed and times have changed. But over the period
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: of time, I will tell you that this radio station
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: and its great signal has always had a huge listening audience.
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: And for that, we are so thankful to each and
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: every one of you. And each and every one of
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: those people that were stewards of it during that hundred years,
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: each and every one of them, that had a genuine
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: love for radio and for broadcasting and for everything that
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: this station can be. Now, and I'll get into some
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: of this on Friday when I'll talk about it more. But,
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: I mean, basically the talk format on this radio station
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: started because of Pete Gabriel, God rest his soul. It
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: was the vision of Pete Gabriel. And I tell this
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: story often. I tell it Friday. Pete Gabriel worked with
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: Rush Limbaugh when Rush Limbaugh was a disc jockey in
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: Kansas City. So Pete Gabriel knew Rush Limbaugh before the
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: country knew Rush Limbaugh and before Rush Limbaugh became a
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: talk show host. Which I think is kind of... That
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: alone to me is very interesting. You know, I find that...
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: I find that... Really kind of cool. But Pete Gabriel
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: really put this format together in.
- 1:40:21Speaker 6: I'd.
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: Have to think about it. I think in 84. I
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: have to think about when I started. 41 years ago,
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: he put it together. And– Hell of a program director.
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: Hell of a guy that was visionary for this radio,
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: for what he put together on this radio station over
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: the years. So I'll get into all of this on
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: Friday and how he put it all together. And really,
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: it's with a lot of love that I can talk
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: about Pete and his legacy. And so many of the
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: great stewards over that time. And I'll get into them
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: and their names. And who knows? Maybe they'll come to
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: Come and show up and contribute to our program. That'll
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: be Friday. I'd like to see, you know, see if
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: Dan Rivers stops by. Obviously, that's an open invitation to
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: him if he's not busy golfing. But, you know, Dan's
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: been here a long time. He was on here a
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: long time here. And so, anyway, that's kind of my
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: plans for Friday because it's– cue you in on a
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: lot of the history of the radio station. And let
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: you know some of the stuff that maybe you don't know.
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: Some of the inside stories over the years of this
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: great radio station. As we celebrate 100 years on Saturday officially,
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: but I'm going to hold my own little party here
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: in the studio on Friday. And you're cordially invited. You
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: should bring a gift, incidentally. All right. You're on the air.
- 1:42:07Speaker 14: Hello.
- 1:42:09Speaker 9: Ron, I disagree with you from part of your earlier
- 1:42:12Speaker 9: statement about some of these data centers. I don't think
- 1:42:16Speaker 9: it's economically feasible for some of these major companies to
- 1:42:21Speaker 9: not get these tax abatements. And I'm talking about like
- 1:42:24Speaker 9: the Amazon, Facebook, Google. It sounds funny to say, but
- 1:42:30Speaker 9: they have a fiduciary obligation to their shareholders. So they
- 1:42:35Speaker 9: need to build these data centers for as cheap as
- 1:42:38Speaker 9: they possibly can with forward guidance of future earnings being
- 1:42:43Speaker 9: as much as they possibly can to get their stock
- 1:42:45Speaker 9: price up. And they're all racing to win AI. And
- 1:42:50Speaker 9: it sounds crazy to say these trillion-dollar companies can't economically
- 1:42:53Speaker 9: do it, but I think this is such a hyper-competitive
- 1:42:58Speaker 9: field that they are squeezing to the margins to the
- 1:43:01Speaker 9: 10th degree that The average listener, I don't think we
- 1:43:05Speaker 9: even really comprehend what they're doing on the back end here.
- 1:43:08Speaker 9: And I think that the tax abatements versus where the
- 1:43:12Speaker 9: energy is, I get where some of the callers are
- 1:43:15Speaker 9: coming from and saying, you know, they'll just move wherever
- 1:43:18Speaker 9: they can get the best price.
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: What happened? Okay, there you are. I'm still here.
- 1:43:29Speaker 14: I don't think we should give the farm away.
- 1:43:30Speaker 9: I don't think we should have these abatements. But I
- 1:43:33Speaker 9: think time is going to tell which plan is the
- 1:43:35Speaker 9: best one. Is it better to get them here and
- 1:43:37Speaker 9: get them built to get whatever jobs that we can't
- 1:43:39Speaker 9: get out of them?
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: No, pause for just a second. I go back to say,
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: I say it to you again. We are a great
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: location for it because of our weather and because of
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: our water as a result of the steel mills. Let's
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: not give it away. I mean, why is it that
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: we should sell AWS and Amazon, one of the richest
- 1:44:04Speaker 2: guys on the planet, and company? You need locations. You
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: come here. You can pay. It's not going to be
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: that many jobs. I mean, construction jobs, yes, but jobs
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: that operate on a regular basis once it's built is
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: going to be like a huge number. But it's better
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: than nothing. But I want to say this to you.
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: Why shouldn't they pay for the services, the fire department,
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: the police departments, the school system, in the community in
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: which they're located, the entire time as a homeowner has
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: to do? And if they can't do that?
- 1:44:39Speaker 9: I'm not disagreeing with you one bit.
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: And what I'm saying to you is what I want
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: to talk to Dave Thomas about, and I'll verify it,
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: is there shouldn't be a tax abatement anywhere in the
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: state of Ohio. Anywhere in the state of Ohio because
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: it is wrong. What I'm trying to do is say
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: you pay your property taxes and guess what? Alex, homeowner
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: taxes will be reduced because on fixed levies that can
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: only generate so much, which is a majority of your
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: property tax, they will absorb a lot of that burden
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: and your amount should go down. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: And if they want tax abatements, then screw you. I'm
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: not interested in them. I am not interested what they
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: did in Texas. Now, I'm going to ask you, in
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: 60 minutes, 30 years, 90% tax abatement. You think that's
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: even going to be around 30 years from now when
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: they potentially could pay property taxes? I doubt it.
- 1:45:33Speaker 14: Reclaiming my time. Reclaiming my time.
- 1:45:35Speaker 7: Yes, sir.
- 1:45:36Speaker 9: Yeah, Ron, 30 years from now, will the same GPUs
- 1:45:41Speaker 9: be running in that huge building? Probably not. But are
- 1:45:45Speaker 9: they going to replace them?
- 1:45:46Speaker 14: Yes.
- 1:45:49Speaker 9: The AI data to them and.
- 1:45:54Speaker 9: Memory is like water, oil, and air.
- 1:45:58Speaker 14: To us all combined, okay?
- 1:45:59Speaker 9: We think there's an oil shortage. We think there's a
- 1:46:01Speaker 9: water shortage and an air shortage. The AIs need that
- 1:46:04Speaker 9: more than anything.
- 1:46:05Speaker 14: These are going to be plentiful.
- 1:46:07Speaker 9: It's not like they're going to build 10 of these
- 1:46:09Speaker 9: and be done.
- 1:46:10Speaker 14: There are going to be so many data centers throughout
- 1:46:13Speaker 14: the whole country.
- 1:46:14Speaker 9: I don't even think we necessarily need to argue about it.
- 1:46:16Speaker 9: I think this is going to be a case of
- 1:46:18Speaker 9: the second mouse gets the cheese, meaning the Let's see
- 1:46:21Speaker 9: what happens first.
- 1:46:22Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 1:46:23Speaker 9: Like I said, if you give it away, can we
- 1:46:26Speaker 9: look back five years from now and say, man, if
- 1:46:28Speaker 9: we would have gained.
- 1:46:29Speaker 14: The tax, we would have gotten a lot of jobs.
- 1:46:30Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:46:31Speaker 9: I don't have a crystal ball.
- 1:46:32Speaker 14: I can't see that.
- 1:46:33Speaker 9: I'm just trying to place both sides of the coin here.
- 1:46:36Speaker 9: What I'd like to know from Dave Thomas is, what
- 1:46:38Speaker 9: is going on with Stargate and out at Lordstown? I
- 1:46:41Speaker 9: haven't heard anything about that.
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 1:46:45Speaker 9: What's going on there? Are they doing anything? Where are
- 1:46:47Speaker 9: they at with everything?
- 1:46:48Speaker 8: Are they practicing?
- 1:46:49Speaker 9: Are they even running anything there? I would like to
- 1:46:51Speaker 9: know where it's at. I would like to also see
- 1:46:54Speaker 9: if you can reach out to Dane Davis and see
- 1:46:56Speaker 9: what's going on there, just from his point of view
- 1:46:58Speaker 9: with everything. I think he's always got a wonderful insight.
- 1:47:00Speaker 9: I know it's hard to get ahold of him, but
- 1:47:02Speaker 9: I think he would be another great one to talk
- 1:47:04Speaker 9: to and see what's going on from an economic standpoint.
- 1:47:07Speaker 9: I think both people are great to talk to and
- 1:47:09Speaker 9: see what's going on, but I just don't know if
- 1:47:13Speaker 9: we understand from an economic business perspective of these companies.
- 1:47:18Speaker 9: Because again, all of the stock prices keep going up
- 1:47:22Speaker 9: for all these companies like dot parabolic but they never
- 1:47:26Speaker 9: put any of these billions of dollar data centers on
- 1:47:29Speaker 9: any other balance sheets because they're not the one taking
- 1:47:32Speaker 9: the loan that these people are either trillion dollar companies
- 1:47:35Speaker 9: for a reason they didn't get lucky with what they're
- 1:47:37Speaker 9: doing they know what they're doing they go out of
- 1:47:39Speaker 9: play the game we hope there are politicians are wise
- 1:47:42Speaker 9: enough to take care of the citizens that you know
- 1:47:44Speaker 9: are both them in the office but at the same
- 1:47:47Speaker 9: time do you let these things go Do you hope
- 1:47:50Speaker 9: that more data centers come down the road?
- 1:47:52Speaker 14: The best case scenario would be we hold our ground.
- 1:47:55Speaker 9: We don't take any of these 30-year tax abatements. And then, sure,
- 1:47:59Speaker 9: maybe five years from now when the data centers are
- 1:48:01Speaker 9: already built up everywhere else and they need to build more,
- 1:48:04Speaker 9: maybe we have better cards in our hand. And we
- 1:48:07Speaker 9: could say, yeah, you could build them down on the
- 1:48:09Speaker 9: Mahoning River. You're not getting any tax abatements. And anybody
- 1:48:12Speaker 9: who lives in the Mahoning County doesn't pay an energy bill.
- 1:48:15Speaker 9: I have no clue. But I just think there's so
- 1:48:17Speaker 9: much more to the story that we're not really talking about.
- 1:48:20Speaker 16: About.
- 1:48:20Speaker 9: Will there still be the data center in 30 years?
- 1:48:23Speaker 9: Unless the world ends, there's going to be way more
- 1:48:26Speaker 9: of them. Now, I don't know if Elon Musk will
- 1:48:28Speaker 9: be building them in space at that time, and the
- 1:48:31Speaker 9: ones on Earth will be obsolete. I can't really think
- 1:48:33Speaker 9: that far in advance, and that doesn't really concern me
- 1:48:36Speaker 9: at this point in time.
- 1:48:38Speaker 7: All right.
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: I was just trying to research. A guy was telling
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: me over the weekend that Amazon built a big facility
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: somewhere around Lodi and abandoned it. And you know what
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: that building is today?
- 1:49:00Speaker 14: What's that?
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: It's empty. So let me just put it this way.
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: The guy that was telling me this is an engineer.
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: So I don't know the specifics of it. But he
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: was saying, and he's a smart dude, he was basically saying,
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: as technology goes on and you build these gigantic facilities
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: for these AI centers, and when they're done with them,
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: the building almost becomes useless because it's too big for
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: anything else. It's too big for someone else to move
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: into it. So now what happens with all of these facilities?
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: So there's that possibility. I'm just putting it out there.
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: But the reality is they should pay their– if you
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: want here, what is wrong with me to say in
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: the state of Ohio, you know how pissed I got
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: when I heard DeWine waive the sales tax for AI
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: centers so that they could go buy their stuff and
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: they don't pay sales tax? But if you add on
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: to your garage, you got to pay a sales tax.
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: That's bullcrap. That is absolute bullcrap.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: I completely understand.
- 1:50:09Speaker 8: These are the richest companies.
- 1:50:11Speaker 7: Okay, hold on, Ron. Hold on.
- 1:50:12Speaker 9: Let's say, okay, let's say you're DeWine, and you say, okay, yep,
- 1:50:15Speaker 9: you get this tax abatement. If you're the governor of
- 1:50:19Speaker 9: the state, any state, all you have to do is
- 1:50:22Speaker 9: find one state that will tell you, we'll give you
- 1:50:24Speaker 9: the tax abatement, and then you move somewhere else. Again,
- 1:50:27Speaker 9: I'm not saying that it's right or wrong.
- 1:50:29Speaker 14: No, you are.
- 1:50:30Speaker 24: But if you are the CEO.
- 1:50:32Speaker 9: of a trillion-dollar company, and your job is to make
- 1:50:36Speaker 9: as much money as possible to win the AI race,
- 1:50:40Speaker 9: what are you supposed to do? Are you supposed to
- 1:50:42Speaker 9: pay the taxpayers in that community their fair share, or
- 1:50:46Speaker 9: are you supposed to do what you're supposed to do
- 1:50:48Speaker 9: as the CEO of a trillion-dollar company?
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: I am here worried about this community and our taxpayers here.
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: And if some other community wants to be stupid and
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: give AI centers tax abatements, then go ahead and be stupid.
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: This Mahoning, the area in which I reside in this
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: area in which we broadcast should never, ever do that.
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: They should never.
- 1:51:16Speaker 14: We have to do as a community.
- 1:51:18Speaker 9: We have to understand that we are not going to
- 1:51:21Speaker 9: get them then. And I'm not saying ever.
- 1:51:23Speaker 14: I'm saying right now.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: I don't agree with that. And here's why I don't
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: agree with that.
- 1:51:27Speaker 9: They're not going to build them here then.
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: No, I don't agree with that at all. They will
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: build them here for the following reasons. The weather, once again.
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: The infrastructure that we have. The weather and the infrastructure
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: as far as the energy lines that are needed. That's
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: why Lordstown is a sweet spot. So the energy lines,
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: the weather... The water, which we have as a result
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: of the steel mills, a lot of places don't have
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: what we have. They don't have the water. The aquifers
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: can't support it. You want to give all this away.
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: They do not have what we have as a result
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: of the steel mills and the lakes that are around here.
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: The weather that's around here. We don't have to give
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: them tax abatements. You want to come here and build here?
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: We know it's a good location. Pay your property taxes
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: and come here and generate your own electric so we
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: don't have to subsidize you. And tell me how much
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: water you need. Some of these places.
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: There are no.
- 1:52:24Speaker 9: There are no solutions.
- 1:52:25Speaker 14: There are just tradeoffs.
- 1:52:27Speaker 9: And I'm not saying that we should give it away.
- 1:52:29Speaker 9: What I'm saying is it's not going to come here
- 1:52:32Speaker 9: because they're going to build these other places so that
- 1:52:35Speaker 9: they can tell their shareholders and it could be on
- 1:52:38Speaker 9: their report.
- 1:52:38Speaker 2: I'm not going to give in to it. Okay. So
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: then you want us to be as big a horse
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: as those other places. So we should grant them a 30-year, 90%
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: tax abatement as they did in Texas.
- 1:52:49Speaker 14: No, no, no.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: I'm not about to do that. If that's your argument,
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: you are saying that. Yes, you are. No.
- 1:52:56Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: Yes, you are.
- 1:52:58Speaker 9: Reclaiming my time.
- 1:52:59Speaker 14: Yes.
- 1:53:00Speaker 18: Go ahead.
- 1:53:00Speaker 14: I'm not saying that.
- 1:53:01Speaker 9: I'm saying we have to be with the understanding if
- 1:53:05Speaker 9: we're not going to succumb to their demand, they're not
- 1:53:08Speaker 9: going to come here.
- 1:53:10Speaker 16: Right.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: I am not succumbing to their demands, and they will
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: still come here. I'm telling you.
- 1:53:14Speaker 14: Now.
- 1:53:15Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:53:16Speaker 5: Quickly.
- 1:53:16Speaker 14: It's the day after the midterms.
- 1:53:19Speaker 9: What happens the day after?
- 1:53:21Speaker 14: Give me both scenarios.
- 1:53:22Speaker 9: If the Democrats take the House and Senate or if
- 1:53:25Speaker 9: the Republicans keep it.
- 1:53:27Speaker 14: And I'll listen to your response.
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: I'll do it tomorrow. Call me with that tomorrow. Let
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: me think.
- 1:53:32Speaker 25: All right.
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: Hello.
- 1:53:35Speaker 14: Yeah, I think I understand what Alec is saying.

- 1:54:46Speaker 25: I'm Dr. Cheryl Figliano.
- 1:54:47Speaker 8: KBN.
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: All right, News Radio 570 WKBN. And Ron Verb, all right,
- 1:54:53Speaker 2: it's G2.
- 1:54:54Speaker 14: So I think there are a few concerns. You made
- 1:54:59Speaker 14: a point a minute ago. that these data centers need
- 1:55:01Speaker 14: to locate where there's water, power, and land that could
- 1:55:04Speaker 14: be used. And that makes that Lordstown site an absolute gem.
- 1:55:10Speaker 14: The cost of property taxes and sales taxes in the
- 1:55:13Speaker 14: overall scheme of the cost of a data center and
- 1:55:15Speaker 14: the operating cost of a data center is not material.
- 1:55:18Speaker 14: So they're coming out to these communities and asking for
- 1:55:21Speaker 14: tax abatements just because they could get them. If a
- 1:55:25Speaker 14: company's making a decision on whether or not to invest
- 1:55:27Speaker 14: based on the existence or lack of of abatements, and
- 1:55:30Speaker 14: that's affecting the economics so significantly that the project can't
- 1:55:34Speaker 14: go forward, then the project shouldn't go forward because it's
- 1:55:37Speaker 14: not economic. But you touched on this decommissioning slash cleanup,
- 1:55:43Speaker 14: if you will, right? This restoration of the land. These things,
- 1:55:48Speaker 14: you mentioned size, which is important. I think also configuration,
- 1:55:51Speaker 14: the amount of power and cooling going into these buildings,
- 1:55:53Speaker 14: I believe is going to make them so unique that
- 1:55:56Speaker 14: they will never be able to use for other sites.
- 1:55:58Speaker 14: So when they are obsolete and decommissioned, someone's going to
- 1:56:01Speaker 14: get stuck with the albatross. You know, there were millions
- 1:56:04Speaker 14: of square feet of industrial buildings in Detroit that companies
- 1:56:08Speaker 14: had abandoned and left behind. The government or real estate
- 1:56:13Speaker 14: developers following up had to go in and recover all that.
- 1:56:17Speaker 14: They had to go in and tear those buildings down,
- 1:56:18Speaker 14: remediate the environmentalists. You can't set yourself up for that
- 1:56:22Speaker 14: with these data centers. And this issue of competing for them, Look,
- 1:56:28Speaker 14: they're going everywhere. These people are building data centers so
- 1:56:31Speaker 14: fast that they're going everywhere. And I'm telling you, if
- 1:56:34Speaker 14: you charged a premium for water, power, and property taxes,
- 1:56:37Speaker 14: they would still want to build one in Lordstown as
- 1:56:40Speaker 14: long as the funding holds. Alec made a critical point
- 1:56:44Speaker 14: on this.
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: Just as a side note, when my daughter moved to Florida,
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: I went up to her bedroom, I opened the door,
- 1:56:50Speaker 2: a data center had moved into her old bedroom.
- 1:56:55Speaker 15: They're like that.
- 1:56:55Speaker 14: It's like 10 years ago, migrants in Germany where the
- 1:56:58Speaker 14: state would just take over your room and put someone
- 1:57:00Speaker 14: in it.
- 1:57:00Speaker 16: You didn't know.
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: There's a data center. I thought there might be a
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: dollar general there, but there's a data center in a bedroom.
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: No.
- 1:57:07Speaker 14: And I'll tell you, if you've got power, I mean,
- 1:57:09Speaker 14: they're tearing up farmland across the country as fast as
- 1:57:11Speaker 14: they can destroy it. If that farmland happens to be
- 1:57:16Speaker 14: near a power supply or is where a power line
- 1:57:19Speaker 14: should be routed to get to one of these data centers.
- 1:57:22Speaker 14: I mean, these things are being given... Super priority. So
- 1:57:25Speaker 14: they overrun your rights, property rights are set aside. I mean,
- 1:57:29Speaker 14: we're going full communist China on these things. But here's
- 1:57:32Speaker 14: the thing. Alex made the point that these companies don't
- 1:57:35Speaker 14: have the assets on their balance sheet. I think that's
- 1:57:38Speaker 14: going to be very often true. They also don't have
- 1:57:41Speaker 14: the debt on their balance sheet. So they've raised hundreds
- 1:57:44Speaker 14: of billions of dollars of debt for these. And much
- 1:57:47Speaker 14: of it is what you might call off balance sheet
- 1:57:50Speaker 14: because it's actually attached to the data center. The thing
- 1:57:53Speaker 14: that makes that important is not only are these companies
- 1:57:56Speaker 14: not showing the debt, they're not showing the assets, but
- 1:57:59Speaker 14: they also don't actually own them. So you set up
- 1:58:02Speaker 14: a data center in a small company. The data center
- 1:58:04Speaker 14: has a usage agreement with Google, and Google pays them
- 1:58:08Speaker 14: every month. Well, what happens when they don't need that
- 1:58:11Speaker 14: data center anymore and Google cuts it off? That data
- 1:58:14Speaker 14: center has no other customer. It's simply out of business. Well,
- 1:58:17Speaker 14: now who's going to clean up the mess? Because right now,
- 1:58:21Speaker 14: just even now, with just the hundreds of billions they've
- 1:58:23Speaker 14: already raised in debt, they've affected the credit markets, they've
- 1:58:26Speaker 14: driven up returns, and they can't service the debt. Something
- 1:58:30Speaker 14: in the neighborhood of half of the debt associated with
- 1:58:34Speaker 14: data centers is being paid by issuing new debt, just
- 1:58:37Speaker 14: like the government pays for our expenses and our debt
- 1:58:40Speaker 14: by issuing new debt, right? They don't have the cash
- 1:58:44Speaker 14: flow to service the debt they've got now, and they're
- 1:58:47Speaker 14: building at a breakneck pace. This thing is not, they've
- 1:58:51Speaker 14: never demonstrated the use case, the financial viability, the economics,
- 1:58:55Speaker 14: the need for any.
- 1:58:56Speaker 15: Of these any of these abatements.
- 1:59:00Speaker 14: And look, I use AI every day. I also know
- 1:59:03Speaker 14: what some of the capabilities are that they're building into
- 1:59:06Speaker 14: these things, and they're terrifying. Whenever you ask a question,
- 1:59:09Speaker 14: they just say, China, and that's supposed to be the
- 1:59:11Speaker 14: one-word answer that solves it. So you're not allowed to
- 1:59:13Speaker 14: ask any more questions. I'm telling you, we need to
- 1:59:16Speaker 14: understand exactly what these things are doing to the power supply,
- 1:59:20Speaker 14: how they are paying higher rates than we are so
- 1:59:24Speaker 14: that we don't have to subsidize them. and the utilities
- 1:59:27Speaker 14: have the money to build more capacity. But think about this.
- 1:59:30Speaker 14: They need 24-hour uninterruptible power. That means they take priority
- 1:59:37Speaker 14: over all of us. But because the volume of power
- 1:59:39Speaker 14: they get, they're going to expect to buy power at
- 1:59:41Speaker 14: a lower rate than you pay for your house.
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: Stand by.
- 1:59:44Speaker 15: I'm singing.
- 1:59:45Speaker 2: Stand by. Keep that thought. I've got to pause for
- 1:59:46Speaker 2: my headlines at 5.30. In other words, they'll cut my
- 1:59:50Speaker 2: power off before they can cut theirs off. Stand by.
- 1:59:52Speaker 2: We'll pick up with that thought in a minute. G2 Newsradio,

- 2:01:46Speaker 1: until 6 o'clock tonight, it's on NewsRadio 570, WKBN, from
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: the Kingdom of Mahoning. All right, pick it up with
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: where you were, G2.
- 2:01:53Speaker 14: Well, just to kind of pull it all together, right,
- 2:01:55Speaker 14: there are some things that are really important here. And
- 2:01:57Speaker 14: one is that they have not demonstrated a demand model
- 2:02:00Speaker 14: that shows these working. They have not demonstrated an ability
- 2:02:03Speaker 14: to service their current debt or cover their operating costs.
- 2:02:07Speaker 14: Right now, it's looking like the rollout of AI into
- 2:02:11Speaker 14: corporations isn't always yielding the kind of incredible gains they want.
- 2:02:16Speaker 14: So you're finding that, for example, Ford fired 350 engineers,
- 2:02:20Speaker 14: replaced them with AI, and then had to hire them
- 2:02:21Speaker 14: all back because AI is not quite as good as
- 2:02:24Speaker 14: we think it is. Now, I understand everybody says it's
- 2:02:26Speaker 14: going to get better. It'll be much better than humans. Basically,
- 2:02:29Speaker 14: we've got to believe everything's better than humans or Americans, right?
- 2:02:33Speaker 14: But they haven't demonstrated a demand model. They don't have
- 2:02:37Speaker 14: the ability to cover their current debt in these on
- 2:02:41Speaker 14: and off balance sheet debts that they've taken on for these.
- 2:02:44Speaker 14: And so they've got to show, first of all, these
- 2:02:47Speaker 14: things are needed and how they're going to be used.
- 2:02:50Speaker 14: They have to show that they're going to be able
- 2:02:52Speaker 14: to cover the operating costs and not leave these giant
- 2:02:56Speaker 14: buildings in your neighborhood having cost a whole bunch of
- 2:02:58Speaker 14: money to the community. There should never be a tax
- 2:03:01Speaker 14: abatement of any kind, period, because they're building them everywhere.
- 2:03:06Speaker 14: And it's more important that you get access to water, land,
- 2:03:08Speaker 14: and power than anything else. So if you can get
- 2:03:11Speaker 14: one-sided there, charge them a premium for water, land, and
- 2:03:14Speaker 14: power to offset the demand that they're bringing to the
- 2:03:17Speaker 14: community so you can then rebuild your infrastructure around water
- 2:03:21Speaker 14: and power. Then you have to make sure that not
- 2:03:24Speaker 14: only can they cover their operating costs, but this thing
- 2:03:27Speaker 14: called Moore's Law, where... You know, if you think about
- 2:03:31Speaker 14: your phones, they last longer now, but there was a
- 2:03:33Speaker 14: time when they would be obsolete, I don't know, in 12,
- 2:03:36Speaker 14: 18 months maybe. Now they go a few more years.
- 2:03:38Speaker 14: But think about the form factor for computers. What you
- 2:03:42Speaker 14: used to buy that was maybe a desktop or a
- 2:03:44Speaker 14: tower that was two feet high and, you know, eight
- 2:03:48Speaker 14: inches across or 12 inches across is now the size
- 2:03:51Speaker 14: of a VHS tape or something like that. That constant
- 2:03:55Speaker 14: reduction in size, that constant increase in power that came
- 2:03:59Speaker 14: with a reduction in size, is going to hit this industry.
- 2:04:02Speaker 14: So when they implement and start up an AI data center,
- 2:04:08Speaker 14: it will be obsolete the day it is constructed. It's
- 2:04:11Speaker 14: already going to be obsolete. So they're going to have
- 2:04:13Speaker 14: to have a program to constantly upgrade it, even to
- 2:04:15Speaker 14: keep it going. Let's say you go 36 months, and
- 2:04:19Speaker 14: the chip advancement, the cooling system improvements, and so on,
- 2:04:23Speaker 14: make it even more obsolete. Well, now what do you
- 2:04:26Speaker 14: end up with? Again, if it's not owned by OpenAI
- 2:04:30Speaker 14: or Microsoft.
- 2:04:33Speaker 2: What was that? Hello?
- 2:04:36Speaker 14: Joe's local data center, right? Well, what's the financing for
- 2:04:42Speaker 14: the little LLC that owns this thing? And can they
- 2:04:45Speaker 14: service their debt without the contract with Microsoft? And the
- 2:04:49Speaker 14: answer is typically, probably not. So if Microsoft or OpenAI
- 2:04:54Speaker 14: or one of these people can simply cancel their supply
- 2:04:57Speaker 14: agreement with that data center... and walk away, that thing's done.
- 2:05:02Speaker 14: It's bankrupt.
- 2:05:04Speaker 2: So basically, like this 60 Minutes deal, when they said
- 2:05:09Speaker 2: it was, they come, first of all, they don't even
- 2:05:11Speaker 2: announce who, it was interesting on 60 Minutes, who the
- 2:05:14Speaker 2: person is that wants to buy all this land and
- 2:05:16Speaker 2: build this data center. If you saw 60 Minutes, they
- 2:05:20Speaker 2: had to find out that it was actually Amazon. Or AWS,
- 2:05:24Speaker 2: I guess, would be proper. That's behind it. But Amazon
- 2:05:29Speaker 2: basically will have a separate division where they lease the
- 2:05:32Speaker 2: building from that particular separate entity for their AI center.
- 2:05:38Speaker 2: And then when they're done with it or it's obsolete...
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: they'll declare bankruptcy and walk away from it. Interesting that
- 2:05:47Speaker 2: you're saying this because I was talking to a smart guy,
- 2:05:49Speaker 2: an engineering guy over the weekend that was talking about
- 2:05:53Speaker 2: some of this. He said, there's a lot of large
- 2:05:55Speaker 2: Amazon facilities, warehouses that are sitting empty in the country that,
- 2:06:00Speaker 2: that basically don't have a use. They're so, they're so large,
- 2:06:04Speaker 2: you can't do anything with them. And you're saying the
- 2:06:06Speaker 2: same thing will potentially happen with these AI centers and
- 2:06:10Speaker 2: who's going to be responsible for tearing them down. Other
- 2:06:14Speaker 2: than the taxpayer. Correct? Did I lose him? I might
- 2:06:23Speaker 2: have lost him. His satellite phone dropped out there for
- 2:06:27Speaker 2: a second. All right, come back. Are you hearing me?
- 2:06:30Speaker 2: I don't know what happened to him.
- 2:06:34Speaker 14: There we go.
- 2:06:35Speaker 2: Sorry. All right. Yeah, there was interference on your satellite
- 2:06:39Speaker 2: connection there for just a little bit. But you see,
- 2:06:41Speaker 2: I mean, so this engineer is making the same argument
- 2:06:43Speaker 2: you're making, saying, hey, it's going to be a bunch
- 2:06:46Speaker 2: of empty places. But, I mean, you know they want
- 2:06:51Speaker 2: to be here. By the way, in one of them
- 2:06:53Speaker 2: I was reading where they said the amount of water
- 2:06:55Speaker 2: being used, they said it would be like one million
- 2:06:57Speaker 2: and something gallons, is way off how much they ended
- 2:07:00Speaker 2: up actually needing, which was significantly more than that.
- 2:07:04Speaker 14: Oh, yeah. It's... A lot of these estimates are not
- 2:07:08Speaker 14: showing up to be correct. And so you're really just
- 2:07:12Speaker 14: getting trapped. You're getting trapped where you're going to have
- 2:07:15Speaker 14: this giant white elephant that the community is going to
- 2:07:18Speaker 14: have to shoulder.
- 2:07:19Speaker 15: The burden for. Of course, they'll have all.
- 2:07:21Speaker 14: The tax abatements that they can wring.
- 2:07:23Speaker 15: Out of a community because we owe that to the trillionaires.
- 2:07:26Speaker 14: And then it's not just size, but it's also going
- 2:07:30Speaker 14: to be designed like a hospital facility. You just can't
- 2:07:33Speaker 14: take a hospital and repurpose it as a warehouse. Hospitals
- 2:07:37Speaker 14: are custom-made.
- 2:07:39Speaker 15: You can't even.
- 2:07:39Speaker 14: Repurpose them now as hospitals because they can't meet modern
- 2:07:42Speaker 14: requirements for running oxygen lines in any way that's going
- 2:07:54Speaker 14: to be efficient in an old hospital building.
- 2:07:57Speaker 15: So they have to build hospitals from scratch. But you're
- 2:08:00Speaker 15: not going to repurpose it into a hotel. It's going
- 2:08:02Speaker 15: to be like that.
- 2:08:04Speaker 14: So decommissioning and reclamation of the property is going to
- 2:08:08Speaker 14: be a major expense that has.
- 2:08:09Speaker 15: To be pre-financed. They have to have that money in advance.
- 2:08:13Speaker 14: And if it is, in fact, structure you just described,
- 2:08:16Speaker 14: which ends up being a little single-purpose company that just
- 2:08:20Speaker 14: owns that data center but may have $ 6.
- 2:08:22Speaker 15: Billion of debt, and it's going to go bankrupt.
- 2:08:25Speaker 14: Well, that's going to come back on us. Because the
- 2:08:27Speaker 14: banks aren't eating that.
- 2:08:29Speaker 7: We are.
- 2:08:30Speaker 14: Credit markets will be in very, very great distress if
- 2:08:33Speaker 14: that happens. So these deals have to be structured where
- 2:08:37Speaker 14: the asset can be decommissioned and the debt isn't isolated
- 2:08:40Speaker 14: to what.
- 2:08:40Speaker 15: Will soon be an obsolete.
- 2:08:43Speaker 14: Technical asset that that no longer serves its purpose. And
- 2:08:48Speaker 14: it's just a halt on the horizon. It's not so easy.
- 2:08:52Speaker 14: And every time we rush like this, and nobody answers
- 2:08:56Speaker 14: any questions but for saying things like China, we end
- 2:08:59Speaker 14: up in trouble.
- 2:09:00Speaker 2: And that's what they say. Well, we can't drop the ball.
- 2:09:04Speaker 2: It's China. It's China. China's going to beat us to
- 2:09:06Speaker 2: the game. And they're going to... Whoever somehow gets there first.
- 2:09:13Speaker 2: Dominates the globe, I guess is what they're saying.
- 2:09:16Speaker 14: Right, but we're building these hyperscale centers in places where
- 2:09:19Speaker 14: it's clear they don't have the water. Do you know
- 2:09:21Speaker 14: what that means? That means they're going to take all
- 2:09:23Speaker 14: the water and the citizens are going to have to move.
- 2:09:27Speaker 2: Or it means they're going to use a lot of
- 2:09:29Speaker 2: the water and the citizens are going to pay, as
- 2:09:32Speaker 2: we've seen in some of these areas. What happens? Their
- 2:09:35Speaker 2: electric bills go through the roof and their water bills
- 2:09:37Speaker 2: go through the roof.
- 2:09:39Speaker 14: And that would be more the scene for Lordstown, where
- 2:09:42Speaker 14: they're looking at that meander reservoir and saying, hey, if
- 2:09:44Speaker 14: we could hook a pipe into that thing, we're going
- 2:09:47Speaker 14: to have excellent water supply. And if we could buy
- 2:09:49Speaker 14: it at industrial rates, we're probably going to pay less
- 2:09:51Speaker 14: than the lady in the trailer park across the street.
- 2:09:54Speaker 2: As long as you would have to verify what are
- 2:09:57Speaker 2: you using the water for, and when you're done with it,
- 2:10:00Speaker 2: what condition is the water in?
- 2:10:03Speaker 14: Right, yeah, they'll have to be all of those normal things,
- 2:10:06Speaker 14: but they're consuming so much, and a lot of it's
- 2:10:07Speaker 14: going to end up evaporating if they've got evaporation cooling.
- 2:10:12Speaker 14: So I think this is fraught with peril, and it's
- 2:10:17Speaker 14: not like we can stop the technology, but we have
- 2:10:19Speaker 14: to be thoughtful. And, of course, now the open AIs
- 2:10:23Speaker 14: and the Palantirs and all these guys are.
- 2:10:25Speaker 15: Saying, hey, listen, this stuff's out of control.
- 2:10:28Speaker 14: We need regulations. protected and the government have to get
- 2:10:32Speaker 14: involved in fact the palantir guy is calling for nationalization
- 2:10:36Speaker 14: of the a i company you know why because they
- 2:10:39Speaker 14: can't service their debts they can cover their operating costs
- 2:10:43Speaker 14: already without the just where they are today and they
- 2:10:46Speaker 14: want regulatory uh... protections to keep them from being competed
- 2:10:50Speaker 14: with in other words they want at this current in
- 2:10:53Speaker 14: our in our economy they want to transition From a
- 2:10:56Speaker 14: free market, build what you want, take the risks, to
- 2:10:59Speaker 14: you build it, we'll protect you because we're the taxpayer
- 2:11:03Speaker 14: and we'll pay anything we gotta pay to make sure
- 2:11:06Speaker 14: you're all right. You know, remember, Amazon would have never
- 2:11:08Speaker 14: survived without the service agreements from the CIA and other
- 2:11:11Speaker 14: government agencies. It wasn't privately financed entirely. When it had
- 2:11:16Speaker 14: no ability to cover its operating costs and it was
- 2:11:19Speaker 14: eating up the competition, it couldn't raise prices and keep
- 2:11:22Speaker 14: eating the competition. So they created Amazon Web Services, and
- 2:11:26Speaker 14: the government, like the CIA and others, got huge, multibillion-dollar
- 2:11:30Speaker 14: contracts in there. And that's what kept Amazon alive as
- 2:11:34Speaker 14: Main Street got devoured. So they're looking at that model,
- 2:11:38Speaker 14: and they're saying, hey, we need that, too. We need
- 2:11:41Speaker 14: a moat around these businesses, a regulatory moat. We need
- 2:11:44Speaker 14: financial protections because we can't service the debt. And we
- 2:11:48Speaker 14: want to make sure that we don't have– we want
- 2:11:51Speaker 14: to get to this too-big-to-fail position. Because the numbers don't work.
- 2:11:56Speaker 14: There's no model with a valuation of these companies at
- 2:12:00Speaker 14: $ 800 billion or trillion. These valuations are unsupportable by any
- 2:12:03Speaker 14: model anyone can see at this point.
- 2:12:07Speaker 2: It's going to be interesting. Interesting days ahead, to say
- 2:12:10Speaker 2: the least. Yes, it is.
- 2:12:12Speaker 14: It's going to be fascinating to watch this unfold. And then,
- 2:12:15Speaker 14: of course, there's the issue of what are these things
- 2:12:17Speaker 14: actually for? Because the collection of data... that, say, Google's
- 2:12:23Speaker 14: been doing now for, what is it, 20 years, that
- 2:12:26Speaker 14: they monetize through advertising, they sell to governments, they sell
- 2:12:29Speaker 14: to corporations, that is going to now take on an
- 2:12:32Speaker 14: entirely different nature. Because, obviously, these data centers are going
- 2:12:38Speaker 14: to have the capability to create what we call the
- 2:12:41Speaker 14: digital control grid in a way that we've never seen
- 2:12:45Speaker 14: in this country, in a way that Nikolai Ceausescu, Shakira Tate,
- 2:12:48Speaker 14: could only dream of.
- 2:12:50Speaker 6: I mean.
- 2:12:52Speaker 14: It's going to be... There's a very serious freedom issue
- 2:12:57Speaker 14: here as well.
- 2:12:58Speaker 2: You think Zelensky's getting an ass-chewing from Trump?
- 2:13:03Speaker 14: As long as Ursula von der Leyen and all the
- 2:13:07Speaker 14: warmongers are protecting him, he doesn't yet care what Trump thinks. Right?
- 2:13:12Speaker 16: I mean.
- 2:13:13Speaker 14: Well, we've been telling him.
- 2:13:14Speaker 2: I mean, he disobeyed him when it came to knocking
- 2:13:17Speaker 2: out the energy infrastructure in Russia. Zelensky's escalating this situation.
- 2:13:24Speaker 14: Yeah, but remember, Zelensky can't do any of that on
- 2:13:26Speaker 14: his own. That's NATO, and it's Ursula von der Leyen,
- 2:13:30Speaker 14: and it's Macron, it's all these Europeans that are captured
- 2:13:34Speaker 14: by the globalists who want to get us into that
- 2:13:38Speaker 14: physical war with Russia. If I was Russia... When they,
- 2:13:42Speaker 14: after they attack the energy infrastructure, I would have just
- 2:13:44Speaker 14: simply removed Kib from the planet. I would have just
- 2:13:47Speaker 14: finished the war. I would have taken it out. Russia's
- 2:13:49Speaker 14: not doing that because they know that NATO, which is
- 2:13:52Speaker 14: supposed to be our thing, isn't. They know that NATO
- 2:13:56Speaker 14: is standing by waiting to come in. They want to
- 2:13:58Speaker 14: get the United States to commit forces because they cannot
- 2:14:01Speaker 14: get Germans and Frenchmen to go fight Russians. So, you know,
- 2:14:07Speaker 14: Zelensky doesn't care what Trump says as long as the
- 2:14:09Speaker 14: globalists are standing behind him, feeding him money, and making
- 2:14:14Speaker 14: sure that NATO is providing him with all the support
- 2:14:16Speaker 14: he needs to destroy Russian infrastructure. I mean, this is
- 2:14:20Speaker 14: power and energy infrastructure. At the time that the Strait
- 2:14:23Speaker 14: is closed and diesel fuel is in tight supply, jet
- 2:14:27Speaker 14: fuel is in tight supply, and gasoline is in tight supply,
- 2:14:30Speaker 14: doing that has been an economic disaster for the world.
- 2:14:34Speaker 14: And yet they did it. And they did the same
- 2:14:36Speaker 14: thing with the gas line. You know, this was really,
- 2:14:40Speaker 14: really stupid. But I guess it depends on your perspective.
- 2:14:44Speaker 14: If your goal is to undermine Western society and conquer
- 2:14:46Speaker 14: Russia in the process, and you want to get the
- 2:14:49Speaker 14: United States to be your idiot that runs in and
- 2:14:52Speaker 14: fights everybody, you know, we're just a club that they
- 2:14:55Speaker 14: drag in and make us beat everybody, then this makes
- 2:14:59Speaker 14: total sense.
- 2:15:02Speaker 2: So the midterms are... are a ways off. Everybody talks
- 2:15:05Speaker 2: about it. It's a ways off yet. Do you think
- 2:15:08Speaker 2: the Republicans keep both houses?
- 2:15:11Speaker 14: No. No, I don't think there's a chance of that
- 2:15:13Speaker 14: at this point.
- 2:15:13Speaker 2: Then that's a disaster.
- 2:15:17Speaker 14: Oh, yeah, I think the nation's in deep distress. We're
- 2:15:19Speaker 14: in real trouble here. I mean, it's so funny to watch.
- 2:15:21Speaker 2: Is that not what you said at the very beginning
- 2:15:24Speaker 2: of this situation? Did you not say on this very
- 2:15:27Speaker 2: broadcast that obviously you were opposed to the war from
- 2:15:30Speaker 2: the very beginning? And did you not say it can
- 2:15:33Speaker 2: take away from the American agenda and lead us to
- 2:15:35Speaker 2: this situation where his two years are just wasted now
- 2:15:43Speaker 2: because of the Democrats running the show?
- 2:15:46Speaker 14: Oh, I did say that. And if you go even
- 2:15:47Speaker 14: further back to January 25, when Congress took its first recess,
- 2:15:51Speaker 14: and I said, wait a minute, we're in the first
- 2:15:53Speaker 14: hundred days. They should be taking every executive order and
- 2:15:56Speaker 14: writing a bill at the top and submitting it to
- 2:15:58Speaker 14: Congress and getting it passed through both chambers.
- 2:16:01Speaker 2: Not done.
- 2:16:02Speaker 14: And they didn't. They went on vacation. They're on vacation now.
- 2:16:05Speaker 14: You know, the Republicans in Congress laid the groundwork for
- 2:16:08Speaker 14: losing the midterms beginning in January 25th. The Warren Iran
- 2:16:12Speaker 14: and the Epstein files are the other two big fractures
- 2:16:16Speaker 14: that have done irreparable harm to the coalition that got
- 2:16:19Speaker 14: Trump elected. And, you know, the fact of the matter is,
- 2:16:24Speaker 14: as much as we aren't happy about gasoline, if you
- 2:16:26Speaker 14: go to California, it's... It's 15, 619 right now.
- 2:16:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but even if you forget gasoline, do you want
- 2:16:33Speaker 2: to go back to the sexual agenda? Do you want
- 2:16:36Speaker 2: to go back to the open borders? Do you want
- 2:16:38Speaker 2: to go back to the– they hate energy. They hate
- 2:16:41Speaker 2: fossil fuels. They've said it. Do you want to go
- 2:16:44Speaker 2: back to everything that existed that Trump at least fixed
- 2:16:47Speaker 2: a lot of it? Do you want to go back
- 2:16:49Speaker 2: and throw– fuel on that fire? Oh, God.
- 2:16:53Speaker 14: Well, exactly. I mean, think about this. If Trump had won,
- 2:16:57Speaker 14: if Harris would have been put in place, and they
- 2:17:01Speaker 14: went forward with the same agenda they had under Biden,
- 2:17:06Speaker 14: gas is 619 right now in California. What would it
- 2:17:10Speaker 14: have been across the country? They would have finished draining
- 2:17:13Speaker 14: the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. They would have had policies in
- 2:17:16Speaker 14: place that would have made it outrageous to electricity costs
- 2:17:19Speaker 14: would be substantially higher because they would have continued to
- 2:17:22Speaker 14: tear out power plants. And, I mean, it would have
- 2:17:26Speaker 14: been a disaster across the board. But people forget that
- 2:17:29Speaker 14: because they go to the pump every week and see,
- 2:17:31Speaker 14: what is it, $ 3. 99 to $ 4. 59, and they're just losing
- 2:17:34Speaker 14: their minds. And I understand that. You know, it's hard
- 2:17:39Speaker 14: to keep that and, you know, to ignore that.
- 2:17:41Speaker 2: But don't forget about what the Democrats stand for. Don't
- 2:17:46Speaker 2: forget about it.
- 2:17:47Speaker 14: Oh, they'll be chasing your kids around real soon. I mean,
- 2:17:50Speaker 14: they never gave up on the woke agenda. They just
- 2:17:52Speaker 14: stopped being able to execute it. All right.
- 2:17:56Speaker 2: I'll let you go. I've got to take a few
- 2:17:58Speaker 2: calls that have been on hold before I wrap it up.
- 2:18:01Speaker 16: Thanks.
- 2:18:01Speaker 2: All right, G2. Bye-bye. NewsRadio 570, WKBN. Callers online, stand by.
- 2:18:05Speaker 2: We'll get you on right after the break. We're here
- 2:18:07Speaker 2: until 6, so we're going to move quickly. But if
- 2:18:09Speaker 2: you've been on hold, I'll make sure I get to
- 2:18:11Speaker 2: you and get your two cents in. Ron Furp from
- 2:18:14Speaker 2: the Kingdom of Mahoney on this Wednesday evening, September 23rd,
- 2:18:17Speaker 2: 68 degrees. Cool days and cool nights here in the
- 2:18:20Speaker 2: Kingdom of Mahoney. I heart radio.
- 2:18:29Speaker 1: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN. Move along
- 2:18:35Speaker 1: quickly here.
- 2:18:35Speaker 2: You're on air. Hello.
- 2:18:38Speaker 7: Hey, Ron, it's Nick.
- 2:18:39Speaker 5: It's Nick.
- 2:18:40Speaker 3: Good.
- 2:18:40Speaker 13: Go ahead.
- 2:18:41Speaker 15: I just wanted to call.
- 2:18:43Speaker 24: I don't call in that much anymore because I get
- 2:18:45Speaker 24: so frustrated listening to you guys. You know, but I
- 2:18:48Speaker 24: just wanted to say that JJ, who the last six,
- 2:18:52Speaker 24: seven times I've.
- 2:18:53Speaker 7: Heard him, has directly made a....
- 2:18:58Speaker 24: Suffering from NDS, Nick Derangement Syndrome.
- 2:19:03Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 2:19:03Speaker 24: No matter how much he judges, he's not a Trumper.
- 2:19:06Speaker 24: If he's a Trumper, I'm voting, I'm going to try
- 2:19:08Speaker 24: to get Harris elected if he's a Trump supporter. I
- 2:19:12Speaker 24: don't want him, nothing to do with Trump, okay? Guy's
- 2:19:15Speaker 24: a mental midget.
- 2:19:16Speaker 7: You pacify him, you coddle him. He drives me nuts. Okay?
- 2:19:20Speaker 24: Tell him to get over the TDS. I don't want
- 2:19:22Speaker 24: to live rent-free in his head, 365, 724. I'll bring
- 2:19:25Speaker 24: it up. It seems I'm doing now.
- 2:19:28Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:19:29Speaker 14: He can't go on. Okay?
- 2:19:30Speaker 24: The anti-Semite Frank from Florida, this guy calls and reads
- 2:19:34Speaker 24: to you. I can't stand to.
- 2:19:35Speaker 3: Listen to him.
- 2:19:36Speaker 24: All he does is read articles to you. He can't just...
- 2:19:40Speaker 24: you know, pronounce them, and that's him himself, he's got
- 2:19:43Speaker 24: to read them.
- 2:19:44Speaker 6: Okay.
- 2:19:44Speaker 24: And the guy on Fifth Avenue drives me nuts. He
- 2:19:47Speaker 24: thinks he's part of a Democratic Party. It's 50, 60
- 2:19:50Speaker 24: years ago. He better look at what the party is
- 2:19:53Speaker 24: right now. It's the Islamists and the Communists. That's the
- 2:19:58Speaker 24: Democratic Party. And I'm going to say one more thing.
- 2:20:02Speaker 24: Everybody said, oh, Nick, you're crazy. But, you know, you
- 2:20:05Speaker 24: say yourself repeatedly, daily, all Iran has to do is survive.
- 2:20:11Speaker 24: That's all they have to do to win is survive.
- 2:20:14Speaker 24: And if they would have did what I wanted to do,
- 2:20:16Speaker 24: they wouldn't have survived. And we'd be on our way
- 2:20:19Speaker 24: to winning the House and the Senate and not worried
- 2:20:22Speaker 24: about a thing, about the communists.
- 2:20:24Speaker 3: Taking over our country.
- 2:20:25Speaker 10: Okay?
- 2:20:25Speaker 24: Everybody thought it was crazy. We have a nuclear weapon
- 2:20:28Speaker 24: that would have destroyed that country in 24 hours. Destroyed it.
- 2:20:33Speaker 7: And we didn't use it.
- 2:20:34Speaker 3: We're sitting on it.
- 2:20:35Speaker 24: We didn't use it. And that's the biggest mistake that
- 2:20:38Speaker 24: Trump made. Because those people don't even deserve to live
- 2:20:41Speaker 24: on this planet. The things that they did to the
- 2:20:44Speaker 24: Jewish people on October 7th, the proxies they support, they
- 2:20:49Speaker 24: are nothing but trouble. It's like a cancer, and you
- 2:20:52Speaker 24: have to end it.
- 2:20:52Speaker 2: Thank you, Nick. Appreciate it. You're on the air.
- 2:20:56Speaker 4: Ron, God bless talk radio. I used to listen to
- 2:20:59Speaker 4: you back in Salem before you were on WKBN, and
- 2:21:04Speaker 4: I miss being able to call Pete Gabriel, Dan Ryan,
- 2:21:08Speaker 4: Dan Rivers, and I pine for the day when I'm
- 2:21:11Speaker 4: not going to be able to call you anymore. But
- 2:21:14Speaker 4: we need to keep that going. There's an interview Dan
- 2:21:16Speaker 4: Ryan did with Mr. Williamson, talked about Mr. Cole Penny
- 2:21:21Speaker 4: and them sitting in a building somewhere in Youngstown when
- 2:21:24Speaker 4: they broadcast First Signal. God bless. But with the data centers,
- 2:21:31Speaker 4: we need to make them come to us and beg
- 2:21:34Speaker 4: us for what they want.
- 2:21:35Speaker 16: Amen.
- 2:21:36Speaker 2: Thank you. You're on air.
- 2:21:38Speaker 24: Ron, I just changed over the fiber optic today.
- 2:21:41Speaker 14: Yeah, it's so much clearer.
- 2:21:42Speaker 7: It pops. It's a staccato.
- 2:21:45Speaker 5: Great.
- 2:21:45Speaker 2: Call me tomorrow. You're on the air. Hello. You're on
- 2:21:52Speaker 2: the air.
- 2:21:54Speaker 7: All right.
- 2:21:55Speaker 2: There you go.
- 2:21:56Speaker 8: All right.
- 2:21:57Speaker 2: We make way for it. I think they're coming up next.
- 2:21:59Speaker 2: Let me see.
- 2:21:59Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 2:22:03Speaker 2: Well, we shall see. Coming up, Guardians and more on
- 2:22:10Speaker 2: NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So stay tuned for that. I think
- 2:22:14Speaker 2: that's going to be around 630. All right. Ron Verp
- 2:22:16Speaker 2: from the Kingdom of Mahoning on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. All
- 2:22:20Speaker 2: the previous shows, and this one should be up on
- 2:22:22Speaker 2: the iHeart app. The podcast situation should be resolved. Have
- 2:22:27Speaker 2: a good night. We'll see you tomorrow.
