- 2:01Speaker 2: Jasmine Hervy.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You look amazing. Yes all, I'm so happy to have
- 2:12Speaker 1: you here with us.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yes, your story is one that we're super excited to share.
- 2:18Speaker 1: You are always a light.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I've met you several times before at golf tournaments, and
- 2:23Speaker 2: every time I see you, you're always moving and shaken
- 2:27Speaker 2: you're always doing and just so kind and so I
- 2:31Speaker 2: am so excited to let the people hear who you
- 2:34Speaker 2: are tell your story. So I'm excited. I'm ready to go.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna add a little razzle drazzle dazzle. Let's rock lady. Okay,
- 2:53Speaker 1: We're going to start off by asking you to describe
- 2:57Speaker 1: what being born to the game is to you and
- 2:59Speaker 1: three words words? What three words which you choose.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Born to the game, What what does it mean to me?
- 3:04Speaker 3: It's privilege, exposure, and love.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Mm hmmm. So when you say exposure, what have you
- 3:15Speaker 1: been exposed to in this business?
- 3:17Speaker 3: I think that we have the We have the pleasure
- 3:20Speaker 3: and the gift of being able to be exposed to
- 3:23Speaker 3: a lot of things from birth, things that most of
- 3:26Speaker 3: our peers aren't able to see. We get to see
- 3:29Speaker 3: behind the scenes, we get to see how the sausage
- 3:31Speaker 3: is made. Yes, but we get to see people for
- 3:39Speaker 3: who they really are. I think that's one thing that
- 3:42Speaker 3: my dad always taught me, is to really see people.
- 3:44Speaker 3: And we have that opportunity to see people when they're
- 3:47Speaker 3: not putting up the celebrity kind of facade.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yes. Yes, So we're going to go into identity and influence,
- 3:57Speaker 1: just to segue off of that, and you said behind
- 4:00Speaker 1: the scenes.
- 4:00Speaker 2: You put me right into my next portion, So you
- 4:04Speaker 2: get this behind the scene look of being doctor Jay's daughter.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Growing up, we all know.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Who he is, so you had a point of view,
- 4:14Speaker 2: like you said, that no one else has seen.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So what was that like from early times?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Growing up in a household where such a great man
- 4:25Speaker 2: in stature, he's huge, I'm like, oh my god, and
- 4:31Speaker 2: just being on his.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Shoulders like that, what is that like?
- 4:35Speaker 3: You know?
- 4:35Speaker 4: I was asked this question when I was twelve years old.
- 4:38Speaker 3: My dad was speaking at a college in Pittsburgh and
- 4:41Speaker 3: somebody yelled out, I have a question for your daughter, and.
- 4:44Speaker 4: He said, how is it being doctor Ja's daughter?
- 4:47Speaker 3: And I said to me, He's just dad, And so
- 4:50Speaker 3: it just was you know, I knew he was a celebrity,
- 4:54Speaker 3: and I knew he was famous, but at home, he
- 4:57Speaker 3: was just dad.
- 4:58Speaker 4: So it was really cool.
- 4:59Speaker 3: That seeing that that other people admired him in a
- 5:03Speaker 3: different way. We would go out and people would stop
- 5:06Speaker 3: him for autographs and he was always like with my
- 5:08Speaker 3: family now, So it's he protected us in a way
- 5:12Speaker 3: that he made sure that he made time for us
- 5:14Speaker 3: and that we just got to know him as dad
- 5:17Speaker 3: and got to grow up with him his dad.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So as you were growing were you able to travel
- 5:21Speaker 2: with him or were you pretty much know where you were?
- 5:24Speaker 3: We? You know, it's funny, we actually used to come
- 5:26Speaker 3: here to Vegas, to this hotel. Well when we were younger,
- 5:33Speaker 3: it was a couple older hotels, but I mean we
- 5:36Speaker 3: we always made a family vacation. Our family vacation traditionally
- 5:39Speaker 3: was to Vegas because my dad liked to gamble a
- 5:42Speaker 3: little bit and there was plenty to do with the kids.
- 5:44Speaker 3: My mom would like shuffle us over to Circus Circus.
- 5:52Speaker 3: So when I woke up this morning and looked out,
- 5:54Speaker 3: I was like, right back at the beginning.
- 5:56Speaker 4: You know, we spent a lot of time here.
- 5:58Speaker 1: So at what point did you realize your dad is
- 6:02Speaker 1: the doctor? J Do you remember that time?
- 6:06Speaker 4: I remember when my daughter realized. I mean, I think
- 6:10Speaker 4: I always knew.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Okay, I always knew because we when I was young,
- 6:14Speaker 3: we were going to games and we would have run
- 6:16Speaker 3: around the spectrum and be in the bottom parts and
- 6:19Speaker 3: in the wives lounge. So it was something I always
- 6:22Speaker 3: knew and I was always aware of. But he he
- 6:25Speaker 3: taught me just to see people differently.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Right, So what kind of kid were you? So? When
- 6:29Speaker 1: you were you quiet? Were you more rambunctious?
- 6:31Speaker 4: I was a full time boy.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I had three brothers, so I wrestled and played football
- 6:37Speaker 3: with them and did sports and I was yes, basketball,
- 6:41Speaker 3: I was captain in my basketball my little Albert story.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Did you ever play dad one on one? Yeah?
- 6:49Speaker 4: Well we would play outside.
- 6:50Speaker 3: We've like had hoop it no, and my brothers would
- 6:55Speaker 3: not let me my dad.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Or my brothers.
- 6:57Speaker 3: The one time that we were in the South of
- 7:00Speaker 3: Ants and we had gone to find, you know, out
- 7:03Speaker 3: to the parks and we found my brothers found a
- 7:04Speaker 3: pickup game and so they you know, got a message
- 7:08Speaker 3: show us back at the hotel.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Hey, you guys need to come down here. We told
- 7:11Speaker 4: them we're playing five on five, you know.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And it's like my dad, my little brother and I
- 7:15Speaker 3: are at the hotel. So we're like, oh, you know,
- 7:17Speaker 3: all right. We get there and they're like, no, fare.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Only told me all ever played together.
- 7:28Speaker 1: That's fun. I love that. Did growing up in a
- 7:33Speaker 1: household with someone as famous as your father affect relationships
- 7:37Speaker 1: with friendships romantic relationships? How was that dynamic?
- 7:42Speaker 4: Oh? Absolutely? I mean, I think that it all of us.
- 7:45Speaker 3: It taught us to be like a little bit more guarded.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I think that, you know, like I said, my dad
- 7:50Speaker 3: taught me to see people. So I think that that
- 7:52Speaker 3: was such a good gift that he gave me as
- 7:54Speaker 3: a young person that I am able to kind of
- 7:57Speaker 3: filter people out.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Okay, can you dive into that, say you can see people?
- 8:01Speaker 1: What does that mean exactly? Like what are you looking for? Meanings?
- 8:04Speaker 3: To see if people are sincere or not, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 3: or what their motives are or kind of how they
- 8:09Speaker 3: see you.
- 8:10Speaker 4: You know. Anybody that came up to me was like,
- 8:11Speaker 4: so doctor j And I'm.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Like, if you're not calling him Julius or your dad
- 8:15Speaker 3: or mister Irving, I'm like you probably like fanning out. Yeah,
- 8:19Speaker 3: I'm kind of cool on you know, it gives me
- 8:21Speaker 3: a little bit of reserve.
- 8:23Speaker 2: So life skill it is to learn that that early
- 8:28Speaker 2: about the fielding.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I mean, adults don't know how to do that.
- 8:31Speaker 4: No, yeah, this is true.
- 8:34Speaker 1: So when you're in school and you you know, obviously
- 8:38Speaker 1: you were now walk us back a little bit when
- 8:42Speaker 1: your dad was playing while you were a child, right, Okay,
- 8:46Speaker 1: so everybody at school knows who you are how was that?
- 8:51Speaker 3: It was Actually again, it was a blessing. I went
- 8:53Speaker 3: to the same school from preschool to twelfth grade. Wow.
- 8:56Speaker 3: So I had lifelong friends, you know at that point
- 8:59Speaker 3: there it was he was playing when I started, so
- 9:03Speaker 3: and he was not playing when I finished.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Okay, okay.
- 9:06Speaker 3: But it was a small enough community that you know,
- 9:09Speaker 3: nobody really cared if anything. I was like the odd
- 9:12Speaker 3: black girl standing out, you know, not like the celebrities kid.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Wow.
- 9:17Speaker 3: So it was it was interesting, like just with my
- 9:20Speaker 3: group group friend days. But then outside of school, you know,
- 9:23Speaker 3: I would you would hear the rumors, you know, and
- 9:25Speaker 3: you would hear, you know, people looking at you kind
- 9:27Speaker 3: of funny likes it over there. When I went to college,
- 9:31Speaker 3: I remember I sharing a down experience. Within the first
- 9:37Speaker 3: week of school. There were eight guys that said they
- 9:40Speaker 3: had slept with me.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Wow. And they're like, I sip doctor Day's daughter, you know.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I was like just like And one of them actually
- 9:46Speaker 3: said to me when I was in the room, which
- 9:48Speaker 3: was hilarious, and I was like, so, what's her name?
- 9:50Speaker 3: You're like like hello, like And it was funny because
- 9:54Speaker 3: by I went to Spelman and we get paired up
- 9:57Speaker 3: with a Morehouse brother, and so my Morehouse brother was
- 9:59Speaker 3: like trying so hard not.
- 10:00Speaker 4: To laugh because this guy's like, yeah, you know I
- 10:03Speaker 4: saw yesterday and he was going on and we just
- 10:06Speaker 4: let him.
- 10:07Speaker 1: He said, we just have this call, keep going, keep going.
- 10:11Speaker 3: So, you know, you if you learn to kind of
- 10:14Speaker 3: ignore what other people are gonna say, you know what
- 10:16Speaker 3: other people have in mind of what your life is
- 10:19Speaker 3: like or your perception, and you just kind of hold
- 10:21Speaker 3: on to your true self. So they both of my
- 10:24Speaker 3: parents grounded me in that way.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Do you think it's giving me your tough skin?
- 10:28Speaker 4: Oh?
- 10:28Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, and then having three brothers growing up like
- 10:31Speaker 3: that'll do.
- 10:31Speaker 2: There is something to having I'm a I'm the only
- 10:34Speaker 2: girl too. There is something about having all brothers. You
- 10:37Speaker 2: really become this other like you have. You have to
- 10:40Speaker 2: have to skin or you're not gonna survive.
- 10:42Speaker 1: You'reverybody's gonna be gone.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Make sure foothna know you're gonna fall in the in
- 10:46Speaker 2: the toilet exactly exactly.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Yeah, we'relet exactly.
- 10:50Speaker 1: We just have compensation. All right. We are now at
- 10:54Speaker 1: the halftime segment of the show. We're going to be
- 10:56Speaker 1: playing two games with Jasmine. The first one is the
- 11:00Speaker 1: thirty second shot clock. We're gonna be asking her this
- 11:03Speaker 1: or that questions and then my favorite, the family feed
- 11:07Speaker 1: fast money because I'm not gonna lose. You're so competitive, right,
- 11:11Speaker 1: you really need I got that from my dad. Yeah,
- 11:13Speaker 1: that's true.
- 11:14Speaker 4: You get that and I did too.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You're competitive.
- 11:16Speaker 4: So again the brothers thing I did do.
- 11:17Speaker 3: The one thing you have, sweet kids, I'm coming for you.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It's gonna be a blood bath right here at the
- 11:24Speaker 2: way hotel.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Okay, okay, thank god you in the middle. Right, all right,
- 11:29Speaker 1: So let's start with the thirty second shot clock. So
- 11:31Speaker 1: again it's thirty seconds. I'm gonna ask you this or
- 11:34Speaker 1: that questions and you just keep trying to answer us
- 11:38Speaker 1: as many as you can. And I think got through
- 11:41Speaker 1: like he got through like ten.
- 11:46Speaker 4: So you're like yes or nose right, They're very quick. Okay,
- 11:49Speaker 4: so see if you can.
- 11:50Speaker 2: If you're competitive, I don't know I'm going going to
- 11:52Speaker 2: get through more going for it.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Let's zeke you not even here? Ze we well we
- 11:57Speaker 1: after you.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Okay, all right, ready, all right, gonna give you three

- 15:45Speaker 1: Only because only.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Because and you said this yesterday, because the right before bed.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Question you were like, people don't pray anymore pray, so
- 16:00Speaker 1: you went with one hundred eight points.

- 16:06Speaker 2: I want somebody to take her down, because you know
- 16:12Speaker 2: I've got brothers.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Yes, all right, so let's dive back into it. And
- 16:19Speaker 1: this is my favorite question. I want someone to ask
- 16:22Speaker 1: me this question. Okay, let me ask you. No, this
- 16:24Speaker 1: is about Jasmine. Okay, what's one part about being born
- 16:28Speaker 1: to the game that would surprise people or you can
- 16:30Speaker 1: break a stereotype or share something unexpected about the lifestyle.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I think it is when you actually meet the celebrity
- 16:40Speaker 3: you know, the celebrity people around you. It's surprising to
- 16:43Speaker 3: see who's nice and.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Wow, I bet you have some stories about that.
- 16:48Speaker 3: And I think I have some have some great stories.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I can't share all.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I mean some drop names.
- 16:55Speaker 4: I won't drop names.
- 16:56Speaker 3: But there was there was a player. When I was young,
- 16:59Speaker 3: I never believed in autographs. I just thought that they
- 17:01Speaker 3: were the silliest things in the world, like why and
- 17:04Speaker 3: my brothers would clamor to get autographs from people. And
- 17:07Speaker 3: there was a player that had come to Philly and
- 17:10Speaker 3: he wasn't playing, and my little brother was like, I
- 17:14Speaker 3: want to go over and ask him for an autograph.
- 17:16Speaker 3: This is during a game, and so my mom, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 3: nudged memes like take your little brother over there. And
- 17:22Speaker 3: we went over to him and it's like, you know,
- 17:25Speaker 3: my brother wants an autograph, and he's like you kids,
- 17:27Speaker 3: get away from me.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Oh.
- 17:29Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, I don't like him, and
- 17:33Speaker 3: so I went back and my mom was like pissed
- 17:35Speaker 3: off and she's like, well, I'm saying something to your dad.
- 17:38Speaker 3: And after the game, we went into you know, back
- 17:41Speaker 3: into the undergrounds of the of the arena, and my
- 17:44Speaker 3: mom like pushed my dad to make sure that he
- 17:48Speaker 3: introduced us, and not so much so that we could
- 17:50Speaker 3: meet him, but more so to make him look like
- 17:52Speaker 3: an idiot.
- 17:54Speaker 4: And the guy was like, oh you jogs kids.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Oh that was gonna be my question.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Did he know who you were? He his whole tune change.
- 18:02Speaker 3: I think that goes back to me, like seeing people's
- 18:05Speaker 3: like so I didn't like him for a really long time.
- 18:07Speaker 4: No, I'm actually kind of cool with it.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Okay, I get I like him for years because I
- 18:12Speaker 3: saw that switch, Like, you know, you can't. You should
- 18:15Speaker 3: treat people the same whether they're affiliated.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Man, did you ever ever come up later earlier?
- 18:20Speaker 3: You did?
- 18:20Speaker 4: We had a conversation.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Did he apologize?
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and he was like yeah, I was new to
- 18:28Speaker 3: the game, you know, Like yeah, but you know it was.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Like it was a lesson for me more than anything.
- 18:32Speaker 1: And you know what, he could have been a lesson
- 18:33Speaker 1: for him too in that moment. Yeah, right, she just
- 18:37Speaker 1: doesn't matter who you are, just be kind. Yeah, kind
- 18:40Speaker 1: And hopefully he didn't brush off any more kids after
- 18:42Speaker 1: you guys.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Have I hope not. I hope it taught him something.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I will say, like I I do have
- 18:47Speaker 1: an experience not exact, but with players I've always had.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I when dad was working in New York, I worked
- 18:55Speaker 1: for Madison Square Garden, the Garden Dreams Foundation. Shout out
- 18:58Speaker 1: to you guys. It was such an amazing experience. I
- 19:02Speaker 1: worked with underprivileged kids and extremely sick kids like sick.
- 19:08Speaker 1: There was one time I had I was hosting a
- 19:11Speaker 1: kid for Christmas and I'll never forget. I was running around,
- 19:14Speaker 1: I got him this, this gift basket. You know, he
- 19:17Speaker 1: was finally going to be able to leave the hospital
- 19:19Speaker 1: to come to a Christmas game. Like, got everything ready
- 19:21Speaker 1: for him, and he passed away. Like it was. It
- 19:24Speaker 1: was extremely tough to to work through those moments knowing
- 19:28Speaker 1: that I may see this kid on Monday and he
- 19:31Speaker 1: may pass away, but like we were making their last
- 19:34Speaker 1: wishes come true. But I'm saying that to say some
- 19:37Speaker 1: people may not realize that our players are amazing with
- 19:42Speaker 1: our kids, but they're also very sensitive to that. So
- 19:45Speaker 1: I've actually had a lot of players on the NIXT team.
- 19:49Speaker 1: If I were to say to them, hey, can you,
- 19:51Speaker 1: you know, make this kid's you know, last dream come true,
- 19:55Speaker 1: some of them get really really nervous and sad that
- 20:00Speaker 1: seeing them. That's going to be their last thing that
- 20:02Speaker 1: they remember, and so you know, you see these big
- 20:06Speaker 1: macho athletes, but a lot of them actually variants. Yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 1: can be very vulnerable in times like that, so just
- 20:14Speaker 1: to piggyback off them. I know, I.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Remember when you worked that job, and it was I'm
- 20:19Speaker 2: so passionate about it.
- 20:21Speaker 1: It was really cool, and I really enjoy seeing our
- 20:24Speaker 1: players interact with the kids. But I do remember there
- 20:27Speaker 1: are some players who are like, now, how sick is he?
- 20:29Speaker 1: Like is he really really sick? And I'm like yeah,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and they're like, oh, you know, and they you know,
- 20:34Speaker 1: sometimes that would be hard, Like.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I love that you were kids too.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I always love it and love I miss it. Shout
- 20:44Speaker 1: out to Gardines.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I love that.
- 20:47Speaker 2: So hey, we we talked about your early days.
- 20:51Speaker 1: You were you had.
- 20:52Speaker 2: A pretty streamline you were there. I mean, that's really amazing.
- 20:55Speaker 2: You went from pre k to twelfth grade. That doesn't
- 20:57Speaker 2: happen a lot, especially in this family.
- 21:00Speaker 1: And community of the game. Family members that we have here.
- 21:07Speaker 2: It is and that's how we think of it as
- 21:09Speaker 2: a family, and so hearing everyone's stories, sometimes there's a
- 21:12Speaker 2: lot of similarities, but then there's also differences, which is great.
- 21:15Speaker 2: So that's the first time I've ever heard that you
- 21:17Speaker 2: were there. I've ever heard have you heard another guests.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Say they were there from pre k to twelfth grade?
- 21:21Speaker 1: It's not common common at all.
- 21:23Speaker 2: So yeah, so your early years were We're pretty you know,
- 21:27Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't want to say stable, but
- 21:29Speaker 2: just you know, stable, okay, considering.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Okay, absolutely, Okay, great, So Mama locked it down.
- 21:35Speaker 1: She said, look, yeah, I actually.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Had perfect attendance when I graduated, and I graduated from
- 21:41Speaker 3: eighth grade, like when transitioned from eightheen grade, I had
- 21:44Speaker 3: perfect attendance. My mom was like your my mom and
- 21:47Speaker 3: my dad they're like, your job is school, so that's
- 21:49Speaker 3: what you're gonna do.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Yeah, my parents they did a great job with that
- 21:51Speaker 1: as well.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah, well, since you brought her up, I'm gonna I'm
- 21:54Speaker 2: gonna take a second here. You brought her up, so
- 21:55Speaker 2: let's talk about your mom.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Person. Tell us about her, tell us about just growing
- 22:00Speaker 1: up as well.
- 22:01Speaker 3: My mom is she's from North Carolina, so she's that
- 22:04Speaker 3: good old southern, down down home girl that doesn't play,
- 22:08Speaker 3: that doesn't play. So she I mean, I love my mom.
- 22:11Speaker 3: She actually lives back in North Carolina. Now, she's a
- 22:14Speaker 3: wonderful woman. She just she gave us a lot of
- 22:16Speaker 3: foundation and taught us about family. She was a stay
- 22:20Speaker 3: at home mom, but her job was making us feel
- 22:25Speaker 3: like we were family. And I think that that's why
- 22:28Speaker 3: we always took our family vacations and why I always
- 22:31Speaker 3: felt like Dad was just dad, because she made sure
- 22:34Speaker 3: that there were no there was no showboating on the inside.
- 22:37Speaker 4: It was about doing.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Your chores and you know, and yes we had help,
- 22:42Speaker 3: but we still had to get up and make our bed,
- 22:44Speaker 3: and wash our laundry and things like that, and and
- 22:47Speaker 3: clean the kitchen, and you know, she she held us down.
- 22:50Speaker 3: So I think that when I was younger, I hated it,
- 22:53Speaker 3: as we all did.
- 22:54Speaker 4: I hated being the only girl.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Because I was like, what did they get to wear
- 22:57Speaker 3: what they want to wear and they get to do
- 22:58Speaker 3: what they want to do. But as I became an adult,
- 23:01Speaker 3: I realized that she built such a foundation into all
- 23:04Speaker 3: of us on how to be good people and how
- 23:07Speaker 3: to be responsible adults.
- 23:08Speaker 4: I love that. Yeah, thank you for sharing.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Mom, so you have a great support system. So
- 23:14Speaker 2: talk about the challenges and how important your support system was.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Just the challenges of being born to the game. It
- 23:21Speaker 2: can be early or even you know, just moving along
- 23:26Speaker 2: in life some of the bigger challenges you have to
- 23:28Speaker 2: face and how you overcame the challenges.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think that the biggest challenges is
- 23:34Speaker 3: other people's perceptions and knowing that I have to like
- 23:39Speaker 3: wanting to stay true to myself. I had a job
- 23:42Speaker 3: in college, right out of college or write in college.
- 23:46Speaker 4: I was working at RAF Laurin. I was like my
- 23:49Speaker 4: little college job was.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I wanted to be in.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Fashion so bad.
- 23:52Speaker 3: And I remember I was having a conversation with one
- 23:56Speaker 3: of my co workers because they had signed us up
- 23:58Speaker 3: for some like crazy schedule with inventory and so forth.
- 24:02Speaker 3: And it was a visiting manager was in town because
- 24:06Speaker 3: our manager was like on a two week vacation. And
- 24:09Speaker 3: so this guy, all he knew was that I was
- 24:11Speaker 3: doctor J's daughter, and he didn't know anything about me.
- 24:14Speaker 3: He didn't know anything about my work ethic or what
- 24:16Speaker 3: I stood for anything. And he overheard this conversation and
- 24:20Speaker 3: he's like, you know, not everybody's father is paying their
- 24:23Speaker 3: And it was like he said something to me that
- 24:25Speaker 3: was just so off cuff for not what I was
- 24:30Speaker 3: talking about or even knowing me. It was just like
- 24:33Speaker 3: an assumption that he had, and I went off with
- 24:35Speaker 3: the turquoise and meeting.
- 24:37Speaker 1: I was like that North Carolina, and.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I ended up having to curse him out. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 24:46Speaker 3: And I pulled a full Jerry Maguire job.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I love it.
- 24:54Speaker 3: And I waited until he went back to corporate and
- 24:57Speaker 3: our old manager came back in and told him what happened,
- 24:59Speaker 3: and he hired be right back. I was like, yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 3: there's some things I'm not dealing with. And I think that,
- 25:06Speaker 3: you know, we've been fortunate enough to be able to
- 25:08Speaker 3: have the advantage to walk away sometimes, but it is about,
- 25:12Speaker 3: you know, seeing how people react to you and and
- 25:15Speaker 3: and for me, that was that was always hard when
- 25:17Speaker 3: people made assumptions about who they thought I was or
- 25:20Speaker 3: what they thought I stood for without really getting to
- 25:23Speaker 3: know me.
- 25:23Speaker 2: And also like counting your money, don't count my money,
- 25:26Speaker 2: don't count my money, don't don't tell me what I
- 25:29Speaker 2: can cannot. Don't don't do.
- 25:30Speaker 1: That, right, that's yeah. So do you think that there
- 25:36Speaker 1: was this immense amount of pressure on you to fill
- 25:39Speaker 1: these shoes or try to live up to other people's expectations,
- 25:42Speaker 1: or to work harder because you naturally think that, Oh,
- 25:46Speaker 1: you know, I don't want people to think that I'm
- 25:48Speaker 1: only getting these jobs because of my father, So I
- 25:50Speaker 1: need to work ten times harder to prove myself. Did
- 25:53Speaker 1: that ever happen to you?
- 25:54Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 25:54Speaker 3: Absolutely, I mean I think it was My dad was
- 25:59Speaker 3: He was very much a basketball icon, but he wasn't
- 26:03Speaker 3: into a lot of other businesses.
- 26:05Speaker 4: And so as I.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Developed, you know, my career and where I wanted to be,
- 26:08Speaker 3: I always wanted to work with children, So you don't
- 26:11Speaker 3: get a lot of advantages working with kids just being
- 26:14Speaker 3: doctor Jaston. So it wasn't you know, I didn't have
- 26:18Speaker 3: a lot of jobs that I came into because of affiliation.
- 26:22Speaker 3: It was always because of the networking that I did
- 26:25Speaker 3: and kind of the drive, and a lot of them
- 26:27Speaker 3: were not high paying jobs, and so for me it
- 26:31Speaker 3: was it was it was about proving myself. But I
- 26:34Speaker 3: think in a way it was more like proving myself
- 26:37Speaker 3: to my family and proving myself to my peers that
- 26:42Speaker 3: I didn't have to take this high profile, celebrity kind
- 26:46Speaker 3: of job. That I could work you know with Boys
- 26:48Speaker 3: and Girls Club or you know, I could I could
- 26:51Speaker 3: work with Salvation Army and still feel really fulfilled without
- 26:55Speaker 3: having to have that high title, high paying position.
- 26:58Speaker 1: So that perfectly segue into our now and next segment.
- 27:02Speaker 4: So, and you.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Briefly touched on it. But where are you now? You
- 27:06Speaker 1: know as far as your business? You know what? What
- 27:08Speaker 1: are you passionate about? What is your calling in life?
- 27:11Speaker 1: You talked about children, So where did that love for
- 27:14Speaker 1: working with children come from? What are you working on now?
- 27:17Speaker 4: Well?
- 27:18Speaker 3: Now, I am I always have to pause before I
- 27:21Speaker 3: say it that I'm a crystal miner.
- 27:23Speaker 1: So you don't hear that crystal miner? Crystal miner?
- 27:27Speaker 3: Have you?
- 27:28Speaker 1: But can we can we say this is like this
- 27:30Speaker 1: so that you can segue into it. Yes, let's talk
- 27:33Speaker 1: about the history you you made, yes with your crystal mining.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Are you not the first black crystal miner?
- 27:41Speaker 3: Yes, the first black crystal mind owners in US? Okay,
- 27:44Speaker 3: Yes've been a lot of black crystal miners.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Okay, So let's let's repeat that.
- 27:49Speaker 3: So you are, so, we're my business partner and I
- 27:52Speaker 3: were the first black women to own a domestic crystal mind.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Wow.
- 27:56Speaker 3: And so we own a mine in Georgia. We're part
- 27:57Speaker 3: owners of a mine in Georgia. I'm a fist mine
- 28:00Speaker 3: and it came to be from doing a good deed.
- 28:04Speaker 3: We picked up a stranded driver while we were up.
- 28:08Speaker 1: In Carolina.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Wild and we were it was during the pandemic, and
- 28:15Speaker 3: we were driving along and we saw him waving his arms,
- 28:18Speaker 3: so we stopped to help him, and he hit a deer.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Had been stranded out there for hours with no cell reception,
- 28:26Speaker 3: and so we just knew it was the right thing
- 28:28Speaker 3: to do was to, you know, help him. We drove
- 28:29Speaker 3: him to get a call triple A, waited for him
- 28:32Speaker 3: for a triple A, and then drove him back to
- 28:35Speaker 3: the town, which was like a seven hour or deal.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Okay, did you have Lord's work? Because I was going
- 28:39Speaker 2: to say, did you have any like just fear because
- 28:44Speaker 2: nowadays I am not picking up anyone.
- 28:47Speaker 1: But that also is a testament to who you are. Yeah,
- 28:51Speaker 1: I mean, so was there a moment.
- 28:53Speaker 4: I grew up in Philly, so I keep a golf
- 28:54Speaker 4: club in my car so you take it when we
- 28:58Speaker 4: really need to. It was my best friend.
- 29:01Speaker 3: And I are kids and my godsister, so it was like,
- 29:04Speaker 3: you know, there's five of us, get him if we
- 29:08Speaker 3: need to. Yeah, but I think he was more scared
- 29:10Speaker 3: of us. I just remember he was in the back
- 29:14Speaker 3: of the car because well we you know, we finally
- 29:16Speaker 3: got to be like put a mask on because it's
- 29:17Speaker 3: like heighted pandemic. And he was in the back of
- 29:20Speaker 3: the car and he was rubbing his hands with purell
- 29:22Speaker 3: like this, and he looked terrified, like I think I've
- 29:25Speaker 3: been kidnapped.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I let's be for real. He probably felt the exact opposite,
- 29:33Speaker 1: being in a part you're gonna be well, yeah, he was.
- 29:39Speaker 3: A little nervous, but then we were like, we're black
- 29:41Speaker 3: mombing you, like we've got snacks, water, We're gonna take
- 29:45Speaker 3: care of you. But yeah, we we sat in the
- 29:47Speaker 3: woods and you know, it was kind of what are.
- 29:49Speaker 4: You doing in the middle of the woods, you.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Know, and trying to strike up conversation, and we mentioned
- 29:54Speaker 3: something about crystals and he said, I own crystal Minds
- 29:58Speaker 3: and we looked at him, like who does that? And
- 30:00Speaker 3: so we started showing us pictures and you know, long
- 30:03Speaker 3: story short, we stayed in touch with him, and he
- 30:05Speaker 3: invited us to come to his mind as a thank you,
- 30:08Speaker 3: and we went. It was about four months after meeting him.
- 30:12Speaker 3: We met him and his team up in northern Nevada.
- 30:15Speaker 3: We drove up this mountain to the top where there's
- 30:18Speaker 3: like smoky courts crystals everywhere, and my best friend and
- 30:22Speaker 3: I looked at each other it was like, I think
- 30:24Speaker 3: we're miners now, But at that moment, it was like immediately,
- 30:29Speaker 3: and so we the next day we came down and
- 30:31Speaker 3: you know, we're washing crystals in the sink in the
- 30:33Speaker 3: hotel room, and the idea for our company was born.
- 30:37Speaker 4: And so we called him the next day and we're.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Like, we're miners now, and he was like, but I
- 30:42Speaker 3: kind of invited you his friends.
- 30:44Speaker 4: We're like, can't take that.
- 30:48Speaker 3: So and now we are like we we are part
- 30:50Speaker 3: owners with him of the mine in Georgia, and his
- 30:53Speaker 3: whole team is like our whole team, and we go,
- 30:56Speaker 3: you know, several times a year and go mine as
- 30:58Speaker 3: a family. When we're in we actually all stay in
- 31:01Speaker 3: the house together, so it's like we all cook our.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Little mining meals together.
- 31:05Speaker 3: And they didn't know that they were gonna have two
- 31:07Speaker 3: like young black sisters.
- 31:08Speaker 4: And because it's like an old it's very much an old,
- 31:11Speaker 4: you know.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Our most of our partners are over sixty five. Yeah,
- 31:15Speaker 3: so they're like the little soul. I love that, and
- 31:21Speaker 3: it's just beautiful. It's it's it's the most fun. And
- 31:24Speaker 3: we get to do that, you know, several times a year.
- 31:27Speaker 3: And then we've turned it into a business where we
- 31:30Speaker 3: now teach kids about mineralogy. So we teach about a
- 31:32Speaker 3: thousand kids a month through.
- 31:35Speaker 1: And connect us with your your passion for child. Yeah,
- 31:38Speaker 1: it like brought me full circle.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Brought me full like absolutely full circle. When we started it,
- 31:43Speaker 3: we our concept is we leave the crystals dirty and
- 31:46Speaker 3: allow you to wash them yourself. And so we started
- 31:50Speaker 3: doing like little pop ups and you know, doing and
- 31:52Speaker 3: we have like a kit that we mail out. But
- 31:55Speaker 3: during the pop ups, we kept getting approached by teachers saying,
- 31:58Speaker 3: my kids.
- 31:58Speaker 4: Would love this, and so we you know.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Put a little plan together and started calling local schools
- 32:05Speaker 3: and a couple of them took us in, you know,
- 32:07Speaker 3: to test us out. And after we got the first few,
- 32:11Speaker 3: they just started rolling and rolling in.
- 32:13Speaker 1: And this is all in Georgia.
- 32:14Speaker 4: I know, this is in La.
- 32:15Speaker 1: I live in La.
- 32:16Speaker 4: So we do it all throughout La.
- 32:18Speaker 3: So three of the major school systems in LA we're
- 32:22Speaker 3: in and we work with after school programs like Boys
- 32:24Speaker 3: and Girls Club and y m c A.
- 32:27Speaker 1: And so we just like you just like that. I
- 32:30Speaker 1: wanted to do I always wanted to wash crystals. I
- 32:33Speaker 1: have never done it.
- 32:34Speaker 4: I brought some crystals, ladies, are.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I've never done it? You know what's crazy? I'm excited.
- 32:42Speaker 1: So Jazz then, and we didn't talk about this yet,
- 32:45Speaker 1: but you are an amazing golfer. We didn't talk about
- 32:49Speaker 1: So you didn't play basketball?
- 32:51Speaker 4: I did, Yeah, I did.
- 32:53Speaker 1: You did play, but you didn't pursue That's what I
- 32:57Speaker 1: meant to say.
- 32:57Speaker 4: You didn't pursue them and didn't have the best team.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Oh right, I love smmon.
- 33:02Speaker 1: You didn't pursue basketball, but you golf. Yeah, and you're
- 33:06Speaker 1: an amazing golfer. And we've worked with Jazz at our
- 33:10Speaker 1: golf tournaments and she's brought her crystals, and every time
- 33:15Speaker 1: I'm always too busy to do it, and so I'm working,
- 33:18Speaker 1: I'm running around, and so I just I can't today.
- 33:22Speaker 3: And make you some cool jewelry out of the pieces
- 33:24Speaker 3: that you guys watch.
- 33:25Speaker 1: So yeah, yay, Okay, let's do this. We have beautiful
- 33:31Speaker 1: crystals in front of us. This is my first time
- 33:35Speaker 1: having the opportunities clean and you know, make jewelry out
- 33:41Speaker 1: of your beautiful crystal. So can you just walk us
- 33:44Speaker 1: through jasmine, your company, how you got started, just the
- 33:49Speaker 1: whole process of crystal mining and crystal cleaning and what
- 33:53Speaker 1: we're going to be doing.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Well.
- 33:54Speaker 3: We were called because I Rock, and our tagline is
- 33:57Speaker 3: a new Way to Crystal because we're doing something a
- 33:59Speaker 3: little differ. We want to get back to people the
- 34:02Speaker 3: same experience that we got the first time that we
- 34:04Speaker 3: went mining, is like really falling in love with the
- 34:07Speaker 3: natural stone. So what we do is we mind them,
- 34:10Speaker 3: but we leave the dirt on them. So the crystals
- 34:12Speaker 3: that you have in front of you are ten twenty
- 34:15Speaker 3: fifty million years old and they are still covered in
- 34:18Speaker 3: that original mud. And so when we go to schools,
- 34:22Speaker 3: we talk to them about like the science behind it
- 34:25Speaker 3: and the mineralogy. When we go into adult venues, we
- 34:29Speaker 3: talk about the spiritual connection and the chakras that they're
- 34:33Speaker 3: aligned to and the vibration that they give. But regardless
- 34:38Speaker 3: of the forum that we're in, it's all about the
- 34:40Speaker 3: discovery of it, because it's like you get to unearth
- 34:42Speaker 3: this ten million year old gym. So that's what we
- 34:46Speaker 3: have for you today is some bowls with.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Some crystals in it.
- 34:49Speaker 3: I brought some amethysts from our mind in Georgia, and
- 34:52Speaker 3: we brought some smoky courts from northern Nevada, and some
- 34:56Speaker 3: parado from Arizona, and some citr from northern California.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Okay, so let's walk us through back.
- 35:02Speaker 3: So what so that one is the amethystuh, those are
- 35:06Speaker 3: from Those are.
- 35:07Speaker 1: From Georgia, Okay.
- 35:09Speaker 3: And the next in the green is the paradig.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Wow.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I don't want to like drop it down, but.
- 35:21Speaker 4: It's all good because they're rocks.
- 35:22Speaker 3: If they fall, it's okay. The city in northern California.
- 35:27Speaker 1: These are from northern cal Okay, beautiful.
- 35:31Speaker 3: And the smoky courts from northern Nevada.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Wow.
- 35:36Speaker 1: So it's like we're giving birth.
- 35:38Speaker 3: That's what we call it unearthing, or we say, you
- 35:40Speaker 3: say to people like you're giving it, you're giving it birth.
- 35:42Speaker 3: We're like Doula's like a crystal doula.
- 35:46Speaker 1: I never knew that was the thing until now. Amazing.
- 35:49Speaker 3: So the experience that you get is you have just
- 35:52Speaker 3: you have some stones already that you guys picked in
- 35:53Speaker 3: your balls, and I want you put a little bit
- 35:55Speaker 3: of water in each of your balls. And you can
- 35:56Speaker 3: do this at home because we do kit we sell
- 35:58Speaker 3: kits online and we also do them as like live
- 36:01Speaker 3: live demonstrations.
- 36:02Speaker 1: So where can people get this online? And how much
- 36:04Speaker 1: water just.
- 36:05Speaker 4: So you can just cover the rocks just enough to
- 36:07Speaker 4: cover your rock?
- 36:07Speaker 1: Oh, to cover the rocks completely? Okay, got to cover
- 36:09Speaker 1: them completely? Okay? More okay? And how can we get
- 36:13Speaker 1: a kid?
- 36:13Speaker 3: And because I rock dot com okay, and we also
- 36:17Speaker 3: sell them on Amazon, so just look us up on Amazon.
- 36:20Speaker 1: We're picking our crystals. How do you like lag are
- 36:24Speaker 1: we supposed to be feeling? What's the art behind?
- 36:26Speaker 4: Yes?
- 36:27Speaker 1: And our crystal?
- 36:28Speaker 3: Our motto is this rock chose you? Okay, because we
- 36:31Speaker 3: feel like this life chows us.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Wow.
- 36:34Speaker 3: So the the I always say that they wink at you,
- 36:37Speaker 3: Like the ones that want to go home with you
- 36:39Speaker 3: are looking at you right now.
- 36:40Speaker 4: They're like, hey, this is the one. This is good.
- 36:42Speaker 3: I know when you guys were selecting them while we
- 36:44Speaker 3: were doing this, you looked over today went this one.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's the one that was calling you. So yeah.
- 36:49Speaker 3: I think that the rocks kind of find their way
- 36:51Speaker 3: to the right people, just like the life found its
- 36:53Speaker 3: way to us.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I love that.
- 36:55Speaker 4: All right.
- 36:55Speaker 3: So you've got your water in there, and I want
- 36:57Speaker 3: you to pick up the little bottle that says shine, right,
- 37:00Speaker 3: the other one is this shine. Oh, and we're gonna
- 37:02Speaker 3: put a little draw I mean, it's just clean. I'm sorry,
- 37:04Speaker 3: I got to clean clean. We don't need shin, not
- 37:07Speaker 3: shine yet. Clean first, and we're gonna put a couple
- 37:10Speaker 3: drops and just want to get it nice and sudsy.
- 37:13Speaker 4: You can squeeze it in there you put there.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Yeah, and we're going to pick up our crystals with
- 37:19Speaker 3: our left hand and our brush with our right hand
- 37:22Speaker 3: and just brush it like your brush on your teeth.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Okay, cool? Now is there science behind the left in
- 37:26Speaker 1: the right hand?
- 37:27Speaker 3: No, just most people are right handed. If you're if
- 37:29Speaker 3: you're left handed, then do it the other way.
- 37:31Speaker 2: So when you're going to different places, like you said
- 37:33Speaker 2: Nevada and California, is the soil different do you find
- 37:37Speaker 2: or what is that like?
- 37:38Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 37:38Speaker 3: Each environment is completely different. So like our our Georgia
- 37:41Speaker 3: mine is actually under a lake. Oh wow, and they
- 37:44Speaker 3: clean off pretty easy. So once you see the the
- 37:47Speaker 3: dirt come off, you can put it on your paper
- 37:49Speaker 3: towel and pick up your next one. So the yeah,
- 37:51Speaker 3: the Georgia mine is under a lake, so we drain
- 37:53Speaker 3: the water out of there twice a year and get
- 37:55Speaker 3: down in the bedrock and mine in the dirt, where
- 37:58Speaker 3: like the Nevada one is at the top of a mountain,
- 38:00Speaker 3: so you're in a real dry kind of mud dirt
- 38:03Speaker 3: rather than the mud that we get to in Georgia.
- 38:05Speaker 1: And did you say there was a certain time of
- 38:07Speaker 1: year that you do this.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Yes, we are a small mining operation and it's quite
- 38:13Speaker 3: expensive to mine every day because we use full equipment,
- 38:17Speaker 3: so we only open the mines for about six to
- 38:19Speaker 3: four to six weeks twice a year, and we do
- 38:22Speaker 3: it in seasons that are that are more more pleasant.
- 38:28Speaker 1: What are those?
- 38:28Speaker 3: So in Georgia we go in the late spring because
- 38:31Speaker 3: summertime is awful, and then we go like early fall. Okay,
- 38:35Speaker 3: so we avoid that winter the winter months in the
- 38:37Speaker 3: summer months and then same thing in Nevada. We do
- 38:39Speaker 3: a little shift to season. But in the summer it's
- 38:42Speaker 3: way too hot and in the dead of winter it's
- 38:44Speaker 3: under ten feet of snow. Wow, So we have to
- 38:46Speaker 3: kind of go around that.
- 38:48Speaker 1: And you turn these into beautiful jewelry.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Yes, so you're wearing I'm wearing some now with our jewelry.
- 38:55Speaker 4: We partnered with a jewel jewelry partner.
- 38:58Speaker 3: About three years ago, we met Hurt an event and
- 39:00Speaker 3: she came over and said, I want to buy some
- 39:02Speaker 3: stones from you. We said you can't, but we can
- 39:04Speaker 3: do a partnership. She actually used to do all the
- 39:07Speaker 3: jewelry for The Bachelor. So she's been around a long time, okay,
- 39:13Speaker 3: and has a beautiful collection. But now she does an
- 39:15Speaker 3: exclusive collection for us. She's become like our third sister.
- 39:19Speaker 3: So what we do at events is we allow people
- 39:21Speaker 3: to wash crystals and then after they wash them, Oh,
- 39:23Speaker 3: that one came out beautifully. After they wash them, we
- 39:29Speaker 3: give you the opportunity to turn it into a custom piece.
- 39:32Speaker 4: So it takes about four to six weeks to get.
- 39:34Speaker 3: It back to you, but it allows you to design something,
- 39:37Speaker 3: so you really go from birthing it to creating somebody
- 39:40Speaker 3: that you can wear all the time.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Why don't you show the camera your pieces that you
- 39:44Speaker 1: have that you're wearing. Oh yeah, I'm black, Mommy my crystals.
- 39:48Speaker 1: You guys. I'm like, it's funny.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Some people take two seconds and some people can stay
- 39:56Speaker 3: there for hours.
- 39:57Speaker 1: You know, there's something therapeutic about that kind of sitting here.
- 40:01Speaker 4: Until you do it.
- 40:02Speaker 3: You don't get it, but when you're doing it, you
- 40:04Speaker 3: realize it's very calming and and then you're the first
- 40:09Speaker 3: human to see what these look like.
- 40:11Speaker 2: So like there's like different spots, So how do you
- 40:13Speaker 2: know if it's like dirt or if it's going to
- 40:15Speaker 2: like stay part.
- 40:16Speaker 3: So a lot of the smell like the smoky courts,
- 40:18Speaker 3: there has some natural iron deposits in it. In the
- 40:22Speaker 3: in the business, what we use is something called iron out.
- 40:26Speaker 3: It's like an acid type acid type substance that will
- 40:30Speaker 3: get all those iron deposits off. That's something else that
- 40:33Speaker 3: we do different is we only use natural soap to
- 40:36Speaker 3: clean our crystals, so it's we don't use any chemicals
- 40:39Speaker 3: on them. So that way you're still keeping that kind
- 40:42Speaker 3: of natural substance that will.
- 40:43Speaker 4: Teach you how to do it at home.
- 40:44Speaker 3: If you want to take it at home and clean it.
- 40:49Speaker 3: People won't have a crystal that hasn't been cleaned with acid.
- 40:53Speaker 3: So this is like been as natural as it gets.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Haw's your dad done this?
- 40:57Speaker 3: I actually had them to come down to the mine
- 40:58Speaker 3: in Georgia. Yeah, he came dressed very improperly. I'm like
- 41:03Speaker 3: any white seekers I do.
- 41:06Speaker 1: You're like, bro they're gonna get.
- 41:07Speaker 3: Dirty, dude, Like I told you to something, you get dirty.
- 41:10Speaker 3: And he's like, I am not getting in the mud.
- 41:12Speaker 4: But he was fascinating.
- 41:14Speaker 1: What about your daughter?
- 41:15Speaker 3: She so our minds are eighteen and up. Oh, okay,
- 41:18Speaker 3: so she's seventeen, so she's not there yet. Year and
- 41:23Speaker 3: we normally we like to go and stay in Tahoe
- 41:25Speaker 3: when we go to the Nevada mine, okay, And it's
- 41:27Speaker 3: always around her birthday, so we always have to like
- 41:29Speaker 3: go around her birthday, and then mom takes the day
- 41:31Speaker 3: off to go mining, and she stays with Auntie, and
- 41:34Speaker 3: then Auntie takes the day off to go mining, and
- 41:36Speaker 3: we still make a Tahoe vacation out of it.
- 41:38Speaker 4: So the next year we're going to actually take her
- 41:40Speaker 4: up with us.
- 41:41Speaker 1: So where do you see yourself with this in about
- 41:43Speaker 1: five years? Five to ten years?
- 41:45Speaker 4: What? Oh I see us taking it nationwide? You know?
- 41:48Speaker 3: Right now we're working on taking our our classes that
- 41:53Speaker 3: we're teaching and turning it into a tool that we
- 41:55Speaker 3: can send to do remotely. So we can so we figured,
- 42:00Speaker 3: like the dissecting frog kits that you buy for science,
- 42:03Speaker 3: like buy the crystal kits for your mineralogy class. So
- 42:07Speaker 3: we see we see ourselves doing that, and then we
- 42:09Speaker 3: see ourselves franchising the business out and we have something
- 42:11Speaker 3: really cool called the Crystal Caboose that we drive around
- 42:14Speaker 3: la In.
- 42:17Speaker 4: And we dished crystals out of it.
- 42:19Speaker 3: So we see building up a couple more of those
- 42:22Speaker 3: and then taking those to other cities. So yeah, we
- 42:25Speaker 3: just wrote a children's book, so a little activity book
- 42:29Speaker 3: right there that it's like all different crystal activities for
- 42:32Speaker 3: the kids. So I really see like taking this giving back,
- 42:38Speaker 3: you know, giving back with the kids with it. And
- 42:39Speaker 3: we have a little young Miners club, so we were
- 42:43Speaker 3: working on planning trips for some of the younger kids
- 42:46Speaker 3: to go to our tailings field. So it's like they're
- 42:49Speaker 3: not in the dangerous part. They're just in the part
- 42:51Speaker 3: where they can kind of sift through stuff. What makes
- 42:53Speaker 3: it dangerous, it's I mean you're out there with heavy equipment,
- 42:56Speaker 3: so it's yeah, it's you know, we're fully regulated by OSHA.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Still told Boots full Ppe you gotta have your best
- 43:05Speaker 3: helmet and make sure that you're stepping in the right places.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Oh the citron, yes, gorgeous.
- 43:13Speaker 1: M hm, that's so beautiful. So like how do you
- 43:18Speaker 1: know what to turn it into? So if you see
- 43:20Speaker 1: a crystal like this, you turn it into a ring,
- 43:23Speaker 1: a necklace? Like, how does that?
- 43:25Speaker 3: So our jeweler is she's is a visionary, so we
- 43:30Speaker 3: just give her bags of crystals and let her play,
- 43:33Speaker 3: and then she makes a whole bunch of samples for us,
- 43:35Speaker 3: like some of the ones that you can see here,
- 43:37Speaker 3: and we have those on display at events where people
- 43:42Speaker 3: will look at them and say, I want something that
- 43:43Speaker 3: looks like that. So it helps us because I'm like,
- 43:46Speaker 3: we can help you once you give us an idea.
- 43:49Speaker 3: But she's the visionary behind how they lay. The thing
- 43:51Speaker 3: that I love about what she does is she doesn't
- 43:53Speaker 3: cut or polish anything.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Okay, so she uses a.
- 43:56Speaker 3: Technique called electro plating, which paints around on the stone.
- 44:01Speaker 3: So it really is the stone makes the style. So
- 44:04Speaker 3: whether you want a ring or a necklace or so forth,
- 44:07Speaker 3: that's you still have that natural stone showing through. But
- 44:10Speaker 3: the stone itself like these are similar styles, but the
- 44:15Speaker 3: stone itself show does the.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Style around it beautiful.
- 44:18Speaker 3: And highlights the stone like we nature did the work,
- 44:21Speaker 3: so we're just trying to highlight.
- 44:27Speaker 4: For hours.
- 44:28Speaker 1: I was going to say, like this really helped, Like
- 44:30Speaker 1: someone like myself, I'm very anxious, so common.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it is say like you can't get high in
- 44:39Speaker 3: your own supply, but you.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Sit out there for like we'll have meetings and we're like,
- 44:45Speaker 4: we're just going to do a crystal washing.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been just sit there and kind of go
- 44:49Speaker 3: because it does. It soothes you in a way that
- 44:51Speaker 3: you know, you wouldn't think that it would.
- 44:53Speaker 1: So I can see how this is great for adults,
- 44:56Speaker 1: but even definitely kids. Yeah, everybody can.
- 44:59Speaker 4: Really, it's no age.
- 45:01Speaker 1: So once we're done cleaning, we shine.
- 45:03Speaker 4: And then we're gonna put a little bit of the
- 45:04Speaker 4: shine on there on.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Top of the crystal directly. How much do we use?
- 45:09Speaker 4: You can just soak it on on in there, and
- 45:12Speaker 4: then we're gonna use your paper towel.
- 45:14Speaker 1: So I can do it on the paper towel like this, and.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Then we'll use the second paper towel to just blot
- 45:18Speaker 4: it off. There's one food mhm.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Time to if you could pass listen, I'm always zenned out.
- 45:30Speaker 3: You have to pick your favorites and make you guys
- 45:33Speaker 3: some some necklaces, rings, whichever you that's gonna be ever
- 45:36Speaker 3: you decide.
- 45:36Speaker 1: My Lexi is gonna be so jealous. She loves jewelers,
- 45:40Speaker 1: so I don't just drop it.
- 45:42Speaker 4: I don't have there and then you can use the
- 45:43Speaker 4: paper towel to rub it.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Rabbit.
- 45:46Speaker 3: This is and you'll see the difference. Shine is just
- 45:50Speaker 3: like food grade mineral oil. Because again, since we have
- 45:53Speaker 3: a lot of kids, we only want to use all
- 45:54Speaker 3: natural stuff, keep it safe. For this, we put the
- 45:58Speaker 3: lotion on the baby exactly. If you don't want ashy
- 46:01Speaker 3: chrystal crystals around.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Here, this is. These are Yeah, that one gorgeous. These
- 46:12Speaker 1: are beautiful. One's gorgeous too. There's a reason why I
- 46:15Speaker 1: wasn't able to do this while I was working.
- 46:17Speaker 3: You needed to.
- 46:18Speaker 1: I would not be working like she's watching still watching
- 46:23Speaker 1: her crystal be like not right now, guys, I'm in
- 46:28Speaker 1: my zen moment with my crystals. These are beautiful.
- 46:32Speaker 3: So you get a little bit of everything from your
- 46:34Speaker 3: root chakra up to your crown chakra.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Okay, keep you balanced for the day.
- 46:40Speaker 1: I love it well, Jassie. That was amazing. Can't wait
- 46:44Speaker 1: to see our jewelry. Yes, from the crystals that we pick,
- 46:49Speaker 1: thank you. These are beautiful as we rock because we
- 46:52Speaker 1: rock and Instagram. Let's shout it out real quick, the.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Same thing because I rock, because underscore, I underscore rock perfect.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Thank you yaya. All right, so let's clean up quickly
- 47:04Speaker 1: and then we will do the last segment. That was
- 47:09Speaker 1: so much. I feel so good, my anxiety needed that.
- 47:15Speaker 4: Yes, goal achieved.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Thank you so much for that so much.
- 47:20Speaker 2: So you've talked about your dad, and you've talked about
- 47:23Speaker 2: your mom, and.
- 47:25Speaker 1: You're also a mom. So let's just talk about miss
- 47:28Speaker 1: London for a minute. Would you'd like to if she
- 47:31Speaker 1: were sitting right here? Yes, what would you say to
- 47:34Speaker 1: her right now?
- 47:34Speaker 3: Oh?
- 47:35Speaker 4: I would tell her that she is a gift. She's
- 47:40Speaker 4: taught me to be.
- 47:41Speaker 3: A warrior mom. My daughter has special needs, so she's
- 47:45Speaker 3: a has down syndrome, and she taught me that that
- 47:49Speaker 3: doesn't define who you are and is the strongest person
- 47:53Speaker 3: that I know. So like, I get teary just singing
- 47:56Speaker 3: about her because she's she's a She's a war like
- 48:00Speaker 3: that one right there, and I look at she's a
- 48:03Speaker 3: queen and I tell her that all the time, that
- 48:08Speaker 3: she's unstoppable.
- 48:09Speaker 2: I've seen her on your Instagram and I can tell
- 48:12Speaker 2: that she runs the place and runs the house. I
- 48:14Speaker 2: can tell that she gets that that feistiness, that warrior
- 48:18Speaker 2: mentality from her grandfather.
- 48:20Speaker 1: And her mother. And she's funny and she's fascial.
- 48:22Speaker 2: She is very pacile, very fashionable, beautiful. So if there
- 48:27Speaker 2: was one sentence or one question or one not question,
- 48:30Speaker 2: one sentence or something you could say to your dad,
- 48:33Speaker 2: m what would that be?
- 48:36Speaker 4: Thank you? You know, like thank you for.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Giving me the foundation and the.
- 48:45Speaker 4: Strength to know who I am.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a girls need their dads, they do, and
- 48:52Speaker 3: I think that when their dad's believe in them, it
- 48:55Speaker 3: helps you to believe in yourself, you know.
- 48:57Speaker 4: So thank you, Thank you, daddy.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Three daddy's girls up here. Oh god, it's dangerous. I'm
- 49:04Speaker 1: sure my dad scratches his head all the time. I
- 49:07Speaker 1: wish I had a son. No, I doubt that's serious.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Boys are hard, believe me.
- 49:12Speaker 1: I just feel like dads and daughters. I know I
- 49:15Speaker 1: have such a daddy's girl, but I'm sure there's times
- 49:17Speaker 1: where my dad when we were growing up, was like,
- 49:21Speaker 1: probably have more money if I had sons, but it
- 49:24Speaker 1: wouldn't be that daughter is. Yeah, I love it the
- 49:30Speaker 1: way you talk about your dad, and our families love
- 49:33Speaker 1: each other. My dad loves your dad and vice versa. So, yes,
- 49:38Speaker 1: this is a family unit. And just to see all
