- 0:08There are rules to surviving a horror movie.
- 0:11Don't split up, don't investigate the noise, and never say, "I'll be right
- 0:17back." Here, three friends break down the scares, the kills, the monsters,
- 0:24and the terrible decisions that got everyone there in the first place.
- 0:28We rate the scares, we roast the victims, and we ask the important
- 0:33question, would we survive?
- 0:37So dim the lights, pour the drinks, and prepare for spoilers.
- 0:43This is the Scarier Things Club
- 0:49Hello.
- 0:50Welcome back.
- 0:51This is the Scarier Things Club.
- 0:52We're so excited that you're here.
- 0:54Today we are going to be talking about It Follows.
- 0:57That's our movie of, uh, I don't know, circumstance?
- 1:01I don't know.
- 1:01This one was a- This one was a choice.
- 1:04Um- Not our choice.
- 1:05Not our choice.
- 1:05It was randomly generated by the wheel.
- 1:07Which we'll get into it in a little bit.
- 1:09I just knocked over a water bottle.
- 1:11This movie is, like, one of the top 200 scary movies.
- 1:16Like, it was on a… It's on several list, and I just did not understand.
- 1:21But- We like to get ahead of ourselves.
- 1:24Before- … we get too much further so what I brought to the club today.
- 1:31So this movie reminds me of those chain texts that we used to get,
- 1:35like, when we were, like, in what?
- 1:36Mm-hmm.
- 1:36Middle school, junior high, where it would be like, "If you don't send this
- 1:42to seven of your friends, then you're gonna get got by this," you know?
- 1:46Yep.
- 1:46Whatever, whatever creature.
- 1:49And did you ever get those?
- 1:51Oh, all the time.
- 1:52First it was email, and then it would come through, like, Instant Messenger.
- 1:56We got them there too.
- 1:57You did IM?
- 1:57Oh, girl, obsessively.
- 1:59Did you really?
- 2:00What was your… I di- I never did that.
- 2:01Oh.
- 2:02What was your username?
- 2:02I was fully invested.
- 2:03So, like, I had AOL Messenger, and I also, but w- most of the
- 2:07time I spent was on MSN Messenger.
- 2:09Okay.
- 2:09And, um, my name on there, it was changing constantly because- Yeah … you would
- 2:13change it based on, like, what lyric was, what emo lyric- Oh, yeah … was
- 2:17hitting you really hard that week.
- 2:19And then, like, all of the squiggles and stars and- that kind of stuff.
- 2:22Yeah.
- 2:23I wa- that was fully immersed in that culture.
- 2:28Okay, perfect.
- 2:28Yeah.
- 2:29Okay.
- 2:29So now I've, I'm following now.
- 2:31So for me, it was email.
- 2:33Yeah.
- 2:33Yeah.
- 2:34The, that type of correspondence that would come and, you would get
- 2:37in and say, "Oh, you need to do this or you're gonna be cursed-" Yes.
- 2:39Yeah … kind of thing, if you don't forward it.
- 2:41Right.
- 2:42To however many people- Yeah, yeah … in an hour.
- 2:44But yeah, Instant Messenger- Yeah … that was, oh, man.
- 2:47Those were good times.
- 2:48I rocked so hard- Yahoo Messenger … in Instant Messenger.
- 2:51And ICQ, that's old school.
- 2:52ICQ?
- 2:53Oh, I don't know that one.
- 2:54I know Yahoo.
- 2:54I had AOL, Yahoo, and MSN.
- 2:57But even, like, still get to enjoy it today if you had, you know, if your
- 3:00work has instant messaging of some sort.
- 3:02Oh, yeah.
- 3:02They call it chat, excuse me.
- 3:04Yeah.
- 3:04I'm entering the chat.
- 3:05I tear up Microsoft Teams.
- 3:07I don't understand Microsoft Teams.
- 3:09I hate it.
- 3:10Oh, all day I'm on it.
- 3:11All day?
- 3:13Do you, but do you do, like, petty, do you send, like, petty messages through it too?
- 3:15It depends because the… I, you have to be really careful- … where I
- 3:19work because everyth- it's a state institution, so anything can be requested
- 3:26by the Freedom of Information Act.
- 3:27Oh.
- 3:27So, and anything that's related to anybody's name- Yeah … they can pull it.
- 3:32It doesn't matter.
- 3:33It, like… And so the digital stuff is really easy to get ahold of.
- 3:39And, um, but that's down to anything, like a note you write, like a
- 3:43Post-It Note with somebody's name.
- 3:44If you have that on hand, you're supposed to turn it over.
- 3:47Really?
- 3:48Like, even, like- Mm-hmm … a physical- So they're like- … little
- 3:49Post-It Note … do not keep anything.
- 3:51So what th- policy and risk management, their line is, "If you wouldn't
- 3:57want it splashed across the front of the newspaper, don't say it."
- 4:01Oh, man.
- 4:01Which is really a good rule of thumb for life.
- 4:03That is.
- 4:04However- It's not as fun, though … I will send a, a message that's like,
- 4:09it doesn't have somebody's name with it- Yeah … but I'll be like-
- 4:12Did you see that in the other chat?
- 4:14What the heck.
- 4:14Or- Oh, yeah … did you see that person's profile picture?
- 4:17Like, there was a person, her f- professional image- Yeah
- 4:24for the college as for our intranet, was her in a costume, like Halloween costume.
- 4:31Oh, nice.
- 4:32And I was like… We were on video- … when I saw it pop up.
- 4:36'Cause some people who are not on video, it just will show their picture.
- 4:39Yeah.
- 4:42I've gotten messages from a coworker that's like, "You're
- 4:44on camera, don't forget."
- 4:46Oh, no.
- 4:47Like, they're like, "Fix your face, girl." Yeah.
- 4:49She's like Beth." Cut it.
- 4:51Cut it out.
- 4:52And so I'll just like, boop, to come off of it 'cause I'm like, oh, my gosh.
- 4:56But yeah, so I, I rock hard with the instant messenger.
- 4:58It takes me back.
- 4:59Yeah.
- 5:00When I, like, was in middle school, junior high, the thing was Facebook.
- 5:05That was like- Okay.
- 5:06Yeah … I think, I think I secretly got a Facebook, which I think my dad, which
- 5:10is, this is funny, because he- … bless him, is quite technologically challenged,
- 5:16um, helped me make my Facebook.
- 5:19But it was like the chat, but it wasn't like Messenger.
- 5:21It was like whenever on the right-hand you could see who was on.
- 5:25Oh, yes.
- 5:26Yes.
- 5:26And, like, they were green or whatever, and so then it would pop up.
- 5:29Mm-hmm.
- 5:30And I remember, like, messaging my friend Liz.
- 5:32And I was like, "No one's supposed to know.
- 5:34Like, don't tell your mom.
- 5:35Don't tell your mom." Because, like, her mom was my mom's best
- 5:37friend, so I was like, "Please don't tell Miss Becky- Mm-hmm
- 5:38that I'm doing this, because she's gonna tell my mom, and
- 5:40then I'll get in trouble." Yeah.
- 5:42But that's that was my… But also, I had, like, five friends,
- 5:45so I feel like it's not as fun.
- 5:47Yeah.
- 5:48And that wasn't as bad, 'cause you usually actually knew those people on Facebook.
- 5:53Where you could really get into some trouble was MySpace.
- 5:57I don't know if you've ever had a MySpace.
- 5:58I didn't.
- 5:58'Cause you could find, somehow stumble upon people that you,
- 6:03you had never seen in real life.
- 6:04Yeah.
- 6:05Like, this is probably some 45-year-old man in his mom's basement.
- 6:08But- Right … it's your buddy Autumn now, and she's- … she's really cool.
- 6:13She likes the same music you do.
- 6:14Yeah.
- 6:15But, um, yeah, you could chat through there, too, just direct
- 6:19messaging or private messaging.
- 6:21Man, all those old school-
- 6:25social media platform.
- 6:26I say old school, I mean Facebook's still going.
- 6:28Yeah.
- 6:29It's- That one has, like, lasted the longest … similar but different
- 6:31than it w- I mean, 'cause I remember when the messaging was like that.
- 6:35But now it feels like it's completely something else.
- 6:36I guess because it's so, saturated with ads now- Oh, yeah … and content
- 6:42that's for profit- Yeah … that it looks- So different … so different.
- 6:46It's so, it's much more impersonal than it used- 'cause it used to be
- 6:49just the people that you were friends with, and that was like- Right.
- 6:52And now it- And it used to, you remember everybody used to be like like, "What
- 6:55are you doing?" And you'd be like, "Beth is da, da, da, da, da." Yes.
- 6:58Yes.
- 6:59Yeah.
- 7:00Yeah, I think a big, a big thing for me when I'm using Facebook
- 7:04is that my algorithm definitely knows that I like funny videos.
- 7:09Yeah.
- 7:10And so when I'm scrolling, y- um, that's what I'm looking for, you know?
- 7:14Yeah.
- 7:15I get on my phone and I'm like, "You know, I wanna be entertained. Show me
- 7:17something funny." And it's unfortunate because a lot of times that's what
- 7:20I wanna do, and if I come across someone's post that I know, because
- 7:26most of the time it's like video, video, video, and then someone I know posted
- 7:28something like a birthday or whatever.
- 7:30I'm like, "Nah, keep scrolling. I'm, I'm looking for videos," you know?
- 7:32And so.
- 7:33I haven't told somebody happy birthday in hot minute on there.
- 7:36Well, I still tell people happy birthday on there.
- 7:38I don't, 'cause they kinda hid the birthday notifications now.
- 7:41Oh, yeah.
- 7:41It's like in your Messenger, and I'm not gonna go look at that.
- 7:43No.
- 7:43I'm simply too busy.
- 7:44Unless- Mine are still in the main part.
- 7:46Oh.
- 7:49Okay.
- 7:49That's weird.
- 7:50It is.
- 7:50That is weird.
- 7:51Have you seen though, like, do you still, like, actually type
- 7:53out your happy birthday message?
- 7:55Hmm.
- 7:56Yeah.
- 7:56You do?
- 7:57Well, because- Yeah, I do … there's, like, options now where you can just,
- 8:00like, it's got, like, 10 different- Mm-hmm
- 8:02happy birthday messages- Oh, yeah, yeah … you can click on.
- 8:04Yeah, so I don't, I don't do that because I feel, I feel like me just saying happy
- 8:07birthday with one exclamation point is more personal than just clicking
- 8:11one of those automated- Yeah … ones.
- 8:13'Cause those other ones are not you.
- 8:14Right, right.
- 8:15And you can tell.
- 8:16And that's the thing, like, when people send me those and I know for sure it's
- 8:20one of those templates that they just boop, boop, boop, I'm like, "I kinda
- 8:23would've rather you just not." Yeah.
- 8:25You just clicked it and then you're done.
- 8:27Mark, I'm about to call you out right now.
- 8:29Okay.
- 8:29Go ahead.
- 8:30You, you be on Facebook, right?
- 8:32This is what you said.
- 8:32Yeah.
- 8:33You be on Facebook?
- 8:33I scroll.
- 8:34I ain't never seen you share one of our reels.
- 8:37Oh, I don't post.
- 8:39Why?
- 8:39He doesn't.
- 8:40Like, uh, like- Alek doesn't either- If, if you go look- … so I feel even better
- 8:43about it … if you look on my Facebook page, you'll see that I've never posted.
- 8:46Well, if you scroll back far enough, you'll see that I post- Posted
- 8:50that I made a post one time about I ordered a burger at Sonic.
- 8:56And I said, I think I said in the caption, "I guess I should have
- 9:00specified that I wanted the burger, or I wanted my bacon in the burger, not
- 9:04on the burger." And I had a picture.
- 9:06Because I opened the burger up and there was bacon literally on top of the bun.
- 9:09No way.
- 9:10Yeah.
- 9:10I remember that.
- 9:11I need to see that.
- 9:12Sonic, was that, you said that was Sonic?
- 9:14That was Sonic.
- 9:14They really… Was that Malvern Sonic?
- 9:16Malvern Sonic, yeah.
- 9:17Oh.
- 9:17They really have gotten us both because one time, This is completely unrelated.
- 9:23But I ordered, you know, they, I think they still have 'em, or they're
- 9:26back, the chili cheese Frito wraps.
- 9:29Oh, that sounds- You ever have one of those?
- 9:30No.
- 9:31I- Girl, it's a slice of heaven.
- 9:33Fast food chili freaks me out.
- 9:34I don't know if it's gonna have the beans- Oh … in it or not.
- 9:36If you need to get some stuff moving- I do, actually Sonic chili, okay?
- 9:43Or Taco Bell.
- 9:45I- Ooh … I've not really had that experience with Taco Bell, but
- 9:47there are two places that I can go that it's, like, guaranteed- Good
- 9:53that, and then, like, back home, Andy's.
- 9:55Not the s- the, Not the Custard?
- 9:57Not the Custard, but there's a burger place called Andy's back home.
- 9:59Oh, okay.
- 10:00Every time.
- 10:02Um- It's worth it.
- 10:02It's so worth it.
- 10:03It is worth it.
- 10:03It's a delicious burger.
- 10:04But- Highly recommend … I ordered that burrito, and when
- 10:08you get a burrito at Sonic, you know, it's wrapped in their foil.
- 10:11Yeah.
- 10:11I opened up the foil, and it was straight up, like, a scoop of the
- 10:17chili- … wrapped up in the foil.
- 10:19There was no wrap to it.
- 10:20Like, there was no tortilla.
- 10:21They just forgot the tortilla?
- 10:23I guess.
- 10:23That's number one in- literally number one ingredient.
- 10:26That's like the whole… Like, you- when you get a burrito blanket, it's- Yeah
- 10:29the tortilla.
- 10:30And when you get a wrap of any kind- It's got- … it's gotta be wrapped in
- 10:33something … it's wrapped in something.
- 10:33Not the foil.
- 10:34Yeah.
- 10:35Yeah.
- 10:35Or if it's not a wrap, it's just a pile.
- 10:37Yeah.
- 10:38You got a burrito pile.
- 10:39And so I was like, I mean, it was the spoon today.
- 10:40Oh, yeah.
- 10:41They- Did you eat it?
- 10:42Well, heck yeah, girl.
- 10:43T- the ins- the insides are delicious.
- 10:45This… I mean, same, same Sonic.
- 10:47I mean, they, they left… This is pre-Facebook, otherwise
- 10:49I would've posted about it.
- 10:51Um, they left the burger off of my hamburger one time.
- 10:54No way.
- 10:55Oh my gosh.
- 10:56Who's- Got home … who's back there- Got home … is like- Hang in … probably
- 10:59knew who was working at the Sonic.
- 11:01It's the children.
- 11:02And- The childrens.
- 11:02It's the children.
- 11:03Makes sense.
- 11:03Pulled the burger out of the foil wrap, and there was no meat on it.
- 11:06What did you do?
- 11:08Did you eat the bur- the bread?
- 11:09My mom graciously shared half of her burger with me.
- 11:12Aw, so sweet.
- 11:13This was a long time ago.
- 11:14A long time ago.
- 11:15All right.
- 11:15Can I make a confession?
- 11:16Yeah.
- 11:17Okay.
- 11:18So whenever I was in college, I worked at Jimmy John's, and I was a delivery driver,
- 11:23and I just think that, like, when you get to know me really well, that is funny
- 11:27because I am so directionally challenged, and that's, like, what you have to do
- 11:31when you delivery, make deliveries.
- 11:34And so, but also when you work at Jimmy John's, you have to work you
- 11:38can, you have to do drive-through or, like, make the sandwiches.
- 11:41And so to do that, you have to pass a test.
- 11:42So they make you, they give you, like, three weeks that you have to study
- 11:46the menu and learn each sandwich.
- 11:48And I was really nervous about it, and I took the test and
- 11:51passed it, so that's great.
- 11:53So then when I passed it- It's gone.
- 11:55Bing, it's gone … because I hardly ever had to do that.
- 11:59And so one day I had to get on the line, and I was, like, the last person, I
- 12:02think, to, like, put meats and there is a sandwich where it is just bread and
- 12:08cheese, and I think it's on the kids menu.
- 12:10But anyway and so I made the sandwich and then took it to its delivery,
- 12:16and it was, like, some dude, and, um, I get back to the store, and by the
- 12:19time I'm getting back, he's on the phone- … with the store because he's
- 12:23like, "There was no meat on my sandwich."
- 12:26And I was like- I don't think I put meat on that sandwich.
- 12:32But when they asked me, "Shannon, did you put meat on that sandwich?" I was
- 12:34like - Of course … "Yeah, why would I not do that?" And so then they were
- 12:39like- They made me drive back to this man to get the sandwich to bring it back
- 12:46to the store so they could remake it.
- 12:47What?
- 12:48And by- Why didn't they just send you with- Yeah, send another
- 12:50one … a newly made sandwich?
- 12:51You can't take the old one back anyway.
- 12:54So when I got there, the guy was like, "Well, I ate it."
- 12:59So it may have had the meat on it.
- 13:01You never know.
- 13:01I think they got bamboozled.
- 13:03I- He, it may have had the meat on there and he was just
- 13:05trying to get a free sandwich.
- 13:05Yeah.
- 13:06No.
- 13:06I, I genuinely think that I screwed the pooch on that one.
- 13:10Yeah.
- 13:11But then I got away with it.
- 13:12But they got a new sandwich out of it.
- 13:13No, he didn't get a new sandwich.
- 13:14Because he didn't return the old sandwich?
- 13:16Yes.
- 13:17That is insane.
- 13:18Isn't that?
- 13:19'Cause any food place, like if they give you somebody else's order, they'll be
- 13:23like, "Oh, I can't take it back anyway.
- 13:25Just keep it." No.
- 13:26I, and I don't know what they were going to do with the sandwich.
- 13:29I don't know if they were gonna inspect it.
- 13:31Thank God, because- But who's to say he didn't just take the
- 13:34meat off, throw it in the trash?
- 13:35Who's to say?
- 13:36Or eat the meat.
- 13:38You're right.
- 13:38It's like a charcuterie board.
- 13:40Yes.
- 13:41So that's my…
- 13:42I have another Jimmy John's story, but I c- I'll save that for another day.
- 13:45Okay.
- 13:45Unless you're interested.
- 13:46I mean, I am intrigued.
- 13:48Okay.
- 13:49So, - I, again, I had a delivery, and it was for like a sweet tea and a chocolate
- 13:54chip cookie, okay, which is really weird.
- 13:56Jimmy John's is also really expensive- It is expensive
- 13:58and you're paying a delivery fee and a tip.
- 14:01So it was like at the Aloft Hotel in Rogers, and I couldn't find it.
- 14:06Like, I could not, I was- … it's, it's right there on the interstate-
- 14:09Uh-huh … and I couldn't find it, so that tells you a lot.
- 14:11And, um, so I, um, I pulled over.
- 14:13I b- and they time you.
- 14:14Like, when you do deliveries, like they time you to see how long you're gone.
- 14:17Yeah.
- 14:18And so I was like, "Oh my gosh, I've been gone for so long. Like, I'm gonna
- 14:21get in trouble. I've gotta figure this out." So I was pulled over trying to find
- 14:25this place, and when I finally realized like where I was needing to go, I had
- 14:30put the drink… I didn't, my car at the time did not have a cup holder up front.
- 14:33It was like just this shallow little compartment.
- 14:36Yeah.
- 14:36And so I set the drink down, realized where I was going, sped
- 14:41off, and the drink topples over into my passenger seat floorboard.
- 14:47And I was like, "Oh my God. Like, what am I gonna do?" 'Cause I couldn't
- 14:52go back to the store- No, you just- … because I'd been gone for so long.
- 14:55So then I remembered, I remembered I have bottles of water in
- 15:01the back of my car, okay?
- 15:03So what I did was I scooped the ice back into the cup - No … got a water
- 15:08bottle, and poured it in the cup.
- 15:11And I was gonna give this to that person, okay?
- 15:13But they got a tea.
- 15:15You're right.
- 15:16They, yep, they sure did.
- 15:17Right.
- 15:17So they ordered a tea, they didn't get a tea.
- 15:20So I- … I get to the hotel and I'm, like, sweating bullets, and I'm like,
- 15:24"As soon as I give this man that drink, I have got to haul booty to get out of
- 15:29there." Before he says, "This isn't tea"?
- 15:31Correct.
- 15:32Yeah.
- 15:32And so I go up there and I knock, knock on this hotel door.
- 15:35Knock, knock, knock, no one shows up.
- 15:37Knock knock, no one's answering.
- 15:38I try to call, no answer.
- 15:40So I went down to the front desk and I was like, "Hey, I've got this delivery.
- 15:44He's not answering. Like, I don't know, can you call up there?" So the guy at
- 15:47the front calls, and he never answered.
- 15:50And so he said, "I mean, it's already paid for." And I was like, "Yeah."
- 15:54And he goes, "Okay, well, I mean, I'll take it." And I said, "All right, cool.
- 15:59Do not drink that tea."
- 16:02Did it even look like tea at that point?
- 16:04No.
- 16:05But also, I mean, it was, it had, like, fuzz and, like, dirt and stuff all in it.
- 16:09'Cause it was in my floorboard.
- 16:11You didn't… Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 16:14Wait, wait.
- 16:16Wait.
- 16:17You- So what were you gonna…
- 16:18Were you just gonna, were you gonna, were you, were you gonna give it to him?
- 16:21I was gonna give- Did you not have, you had more wa- how many
- 16:23water bottles did you have?
- 16:25I mean, like, a couple.
- 16:26So you could've rinsed off the ice.
- 16:27You could've at least gotten the debris out of there.
- 16:32You're right, I could have.
- 16:34I could have but I didn't.
- 16:35Too bad.
- 16:35You're not made for a life of crime.
- 16:37I would, I mean, I would've, I would've, like, stopped at, I don't know, was
- 16:41there, like, a McDonald's close by?
- 16:42Yeah.
- 16:42I'd order, order a- no, not even there … order that un- or a sweet tea from there
- 16:46and just dumped it in the, the cup.
- 16:48No, listen.
- 16:49Okay, first of all, I was proud of myself for thinking so quickly on my feet.
- 16:53It wasn't a good plan, but it was a plan.
- 16:57Okay?
- 16:58I mean, but I mean, it was, was, you ordered a tea- I mean, you
- 17:01delivered- … and it was water with- Oh, gee … water with fuzz.
- 17:06That's the, that's the, that's the title of this episode-
- 17:08Yes … A Water with Fuzz.
- 17:09Water with Fuzz.
- 17:11Well, okay, but it ended up working out because- It did
- 17:14no one got it.
- 17:15Okay.
- 17:15No one drank it.
- 17:16So when you got back to the store- Yeah … and they were like, "Shannon,
- 17:20it's been three hours," what then?
- 17:24Um, well, they, they asked me, 'cause I had called them and I
- 17:27said, "Hey, this is the problem. Like, what should I do?" Because
- 17:30again, I mean, I was young and dumb.
- 17:32Yeah.
- 17:33And obvi- and, you know, not making the best decisions anyway, and they were like,
- 17:36"Just bring it back and throw it away."
- 17:38So I didn't have to tell anybody.
- 17:39Okay.
- 17:40How, I just am curious, how did you exit that job?
- 17:44Was it by choice?
- 17:46N- uh, okay.
- 17:46So the first time I left is because I had to go to school.
- 17:50Okay.
- 17:50And so that worked out.
- 17:52Okay.
- 17:52But then I did, I worked there over Christmas break, and I also popped
- 17:58a car ti- like, a tire one day making deliveries for Jimmy John's.
- 18:02And then I was making another delivery when I was back for Christmas break
- 18:07and my car overheated, so then I was like, "I don't have a car." Okay.
- 18:11"I can't come into work." I didn't get fired.
- 18:13I've never been fired from a job.
- 18:14That's great.
- 18:15I don't know if that's what you thought was gonna happen.
- 18:17That's what I was wondering.
- 18:18I'm not that lucky, can tell you that.
- 18:21The Lord has been kind to me.
- 18:23Yeah.
- 18:24I'll pay for it one day.
- 18:26Yeah, 'cause the, the FBI definitely heard about your
- 18:29embezzlement and they're coming.
- 18:31But we said it wasn't embezzlement, so it's- It was.
- 18:34What?
- 18:35No, no.
- 18:36Oh, my God.
- 18:37It's a stipend.
- 18:37It's been a stipend however you want.
- 18:40Did you g- You're good … Ed, did you ever go and ask people at work-
- 18:42She said, "What?" "Huh?" No, I just wanted to see what you would do.
- 18:46You gotta shut it down.
- 18:46The podcast is over.
- 18:47And this is gonna be the last episode of the podcast.
- 18:50Sorry, Aaron.
- 18:51Shannon is mysteriously gone the next time.
- 18:54Yeah, she was by the park.
- 18:56I know.
- 18:56You could have Luna sitting here.
- 18:58Baskin-Robbins always finds out.
- 19:00We would come… We could come visit you.
- 19:01We could do it at the visitation- I would have survived- … place
- 19:03through the glass … prison.
- 19:05They would take one look at me- Well, same … and be like, "She's
- 19:07just a girl." She- I'm just a girl.
- 19:09Okay.
- 19:10Let's, uh- Where are we?
- 19:12What movie did we even watch?
- 19:13It Follows.
- 19:14Oh.
- 19:14I'm on our train of thought.
- 19:15Um- You're right.
- 19:17Okay.
- 19:17So really quick, this text string in, that's also what kind
- 19:20of started this conversation.
- 19:21Oh, yeah.
- 19:22This was… I wanted to go back in time and try to find, like, my most
- 19:26memorable ones that really freaked me out, and so I was able to find it.
- 19:30And this is a story about Carmen Winstead.
- 19:33Okay, so here we go.
- 19:35And this would've been a text that I w- some jerk would've
- 19:37sent me to try and kill me.
- 19:40About six years ago in Indiana, Carmen Winstead was pushed down a sewer
- 19:44opening by five girls at her school.
- 19:46They were trying to embarrass her in front of the school during a fire drill.
- 19:50When Carmen didn't come back up, the police were called.
- 19:53They went down into the sewer and brought up the body of
- 19:5617-year-old Carmen Winstead.
- 19:58Her neck had been broken after she hit a ladder and then
- 20:01the concrete at the bottom.
- 20:03The girls told everyone that Carmen had fallen.
- 20:06Everyone believed them.
- 20:07Two months later, a 16-year-old boy named David read this post but didn't repost it.
- 20:13When he went to take a shower, he heard laughter coming from a shower drain.
- 20:17He became frightened and ran to his computer to repost this message.
- 20:21He said goodnight to his mom and went to sleep.
- 20:24Five hours later, his mom woke up in the middle of the night
- 20:26because she heard a noise.
- 20:28David was gone.
- 20:29A few hours later, police found him in a sewer.
- 20:32His neck was broken and the skin on his face had been peeled off.
- 20:36If you don't repost this saying, "She was pushed," or, "They pushed her
- 20:39down a sewer," Carmen will get you.
- 20:42She will come from a sewer, the toilet, or the shower.
- 20:46Or when you go to sleep, you'll wake up in the sewer in the dark,
- 20:49then Carmen will come and kill you.
- 20:53I never got that one but that is the- Terrifying … yeah.
- 20:58Ugh.
- 20:58Mm-hmm.
- 20:59And I'm like, "What butthole sent that to me?" Okay, fair point, and we
- 21:02can … This will come up later, but why are my friends sending me that?
- 21:06I had the same thought too.
- 21:07'Cause it's like- Like, are we really friends?
- 21:08… send this to 12 friends.
- 21:09I'm like, "Why do I wanna curse my friends?" Exactly, and I was
- 21:12like, "I'm cooked," because I had maybe, like- … three friends.
- 21:16I don't have 10 friends.
- 21:17And I can't send this to my sister.
- 21:19That's when you gotta start making some buddies on MySpace.
- 21:22You're right.
- 21:23So that one really freaked me out.
- 21:24And then I had gotten, like, a Slender Man one, and that really freaked me out too.
- 21:28Ooh, I saw him in real life.
- 21:30I can't.
- 21:31What do you mean?
- 21:32I did.
- 21:33I saw him when I was in college, and my friend Michale was with me.
- 21:37Did she see it too?
- 21:38Sure did.
- 21:38Get her on the phone.
- 21:40What do you mean you saw Slender Man?
- 21:41No.
- 21:41I saw him.
- 21:42Yes, I did.
- 21:43No.
- 21:43And I've shown you a photo.
- 21:44I took a picture of him.
- 21:44And, and I don't believe the photo.
- 21:45Let's see the picture.
- 21:46I don't have it.
- 21:47Like, it's deep somewhere.
- 21:48That's really convenient, isn't it, Mark?
- 21:49Like once a year- Well, but I've- No ma'am.
- 21:50No ma'am … I saw it, and I- I don't- … I'm not a believer … uh-uh.
- 21:52So I did see it.
- 21:53What I'm saying is- I can't confirm that.
- 21:54I do disagree.
- 21:55What I'm saying is I don't have it on hand.
- 21:57I can't just produce it.
- 21:58Once a year it comes up in my Facebook memories 'cause I've posted it before
- 22:03to be like, "See? We did see him." And so when I come across it, when
- 22:08it appears to me again- Mm … I'll save it in my important folder because
- 22:11this is twice in the last, like, week that nobody has believed me.
- 22:15Oh, but that he's come up?
- 22:17Yeah, because it- Oh, my God … okay, once you watch the videos … Did
- 22:20you ever watch the YouTube videos?
- 22:21No.
- 22:22Yes.
- 22:22Okay, the Marble Hornets YouTube series where the, where Slender Man shows up
- 22:27there They get, like, followed by him, and also they will start seeing the symbol.
- 22:34You know the symbol I'm talking about?
- 22:36It's like a- No, I don't wanna know.
- 22:36I don't wanna know.
- 22:37It's a circle.
- 22:38I don't wanna know.
- 22:38It's a c- I'ma tell you anyway.
- 22:40It's a circle with an X through it.
- 22:43Mm. And- That could be anything.
- 22:45Very creative.
- 22:45Isn't it, like, a railroad crossing or something?
- 22:48Yes.
- 22:48But let me tell you where I saw it.
- 22:50Okay.
- 22:50Okay.
- 22:51So I watched those in college, and then I saw it when I was at my job at the bank.
- 23:00I moved one day the this jar of paperclips, and it was
- 23:03underneath there drawn on… Why?
- 23:06Why on the desk at a bank- Maybe some- … was that drawn?
- 23:10Maybe someone was like, "We need to drill a hole here," and they marked it.
- 23:13I don't think so.
- 23:14And then the s- the second time that I saw it was when I went to do
- 23:19my teaching internship, and we…
- 23:22it was on one of the cafeteria tables.
- 23:26And- Hold on.
- 23:26Hold on.
- 23:26Hold on … why, why was that the one I happened to walk by?
- 23:29Yeah, 'cause, 'cause a student- Because he knows- A student
- 23:30absolutely- And then I saw it … would not do something like that.
- 23:33They wouldn't draw that on there.
- 23:33They're a student.
- 23:34Those kids didn't know.
- 23:35Those little podunk kids where I was at, no, they didn't know that.
- 23:39And, but, like, that was after I had seen him in the flesh.
- 23:44No, you didn't.
- 23:44Well, I guess you're still alive, so- … what's the secret?
- 23:46I mean, I guess now that we all know about it, how do we live?
- 23:49We don't be afraid of him?
- 23:50I mean, that's not the thing, like…
- 23:52I don't know.
- 23:53I'm just telling you I saw him.
- 23:54Where did you see him?
- 23:55We were eating, I hate this.
- 23:59We were eating- I'm so mad … ice cream at a Shake's in Jonesboro,
- 24:03'cause I went to Arkansas State.
- 24:05And so we were sitting there in the car just eating some custard or whatever,
- 24:10and we looked across the highway.
- 24:13At the other side, there was a hotel.
- 24:17And in, like, the one of the top floors, I said… I'm getting
- 24:22chills just thinking about it.
- 24:23I'm so- For real … mad at this.
- 24:25I was like, "Michale"- You should be … "Michale, look at that top window.
- 24:31It's Slenderman." And she was like, "Stop." And so we drove across to the
- 24:38thing and were able to take a pi- Dumb decision … I took a pic- Well, yeah.
- 24:40So we took a picture from across the way, which I think is where I saw.
- 24:43And so then I tried to, like, zoom in, and then we tried to
- 24:45go, like, investigate further.
- 24:48I would definitely die in a horror movie, because we went into the
- 24:50parking lot, tried to get closer.
- 24:52We're like, "Well, let's go look," 'cause if he's there- Was he
- 24:55standing there looking at you?
- 24:56He was looking out the window.
- 24:58I don't know if he was looking at me.
- 24:59Was it a hotel you said?
- 25:01Couldn't have been just somebody standing in a hotel room?
- 25:03It wasn't a person.
- 25:05It was, he was slender.
- 25:06Why?
- 25:06Because did he have many arms?
- 25:08Well, I don't know.
- 25:10I wish I could tell you.
- 25:12It was Slenderman.
- 25:15It looked like him.
- 25:16We're not listening- The look on her face says it all When the when
- 25:19the picture comes up- I'm gonna send it to you You better send it.
- 25:22We'll put it on socials and like- Okay.
- 25:24We'll let, yeah, so we'll let the pe- the people decide Okay.
- 25:26I'm less scared now.
- 25:27I'm less scared now.
- 25:29'Cause he really freaked me out because it's definitely like, you know, if
- 25:32you like give it power in your mind.
- 25:35And I was like I, again, I'm cooked because I'm afraid of him.
- 25:39Yeah.
- 25:41Anyway, it was real.
- 25:42But you're still alive, so- … that's good.
- 25:44Okay, so wow, what an intro.
- 25:48It- 30-minute intro … it follows.
- 25:50I hope, if you're still here, we'll see.
- 25:52Um, so It Follows.
- 25:55Have y'all ever… did you ever watch or like read The Diary of an Wimpy Kid?
- 25:59No.
- 26:00No.
- 26:00Okay, well, in that story there's this thing called the cheese touch,
- 26:03and that's what I have like called like this curse is the cheese touch.
- 26:08Okay.
- 26:09So there was like a smelly piece of like Swiss cheese that had like been melted on
- 26:14top, like on their playground in The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and it like was smelly,
- 26:18and if you touched it you got the cheese touch, and then it's like a game of tag.
- 26:21So it's like, "I'm gonna tag you.
- 26:23Now you have the cheese touch." But it's not
- 26:26"Ew!" Yeah Like, "That has the cheese touch." And so in this movie you don't
- 26:30wanna get the cheese touch, and that comes from- … sleeping with somebody
- 26:35who's infected with- Yeah … this curse.
- 26:38And- With the cheese touch.
- 26:39With the cheese touch.
- 26:39Yeah.
- 26:40That- Let's not.
- 26:42You don't like that?
- 26:43I don't like- I say that multiple times in here.
- 26:46There's just… There's a, an uncomfortable imagery to me when
- 26:48we're talking about nighttime wrestling and equating it with like
- 26:53a cheese- Oh … moving around.
- 26:55Like, there's just a… I'm a little uncomfortable with this.
- 26:58Just something a little distasteful about it to me.
- 27:04I need to like do like the find to see how many times in here I wrote-
- 27:08Cheese touch … cheese touch.
- 27:09It's excessive.
- 27:10It's probably like 10 times.
- 27:12'Cause even when you just talk about it in the context of that book, the kids' book,
- 27:17it's like, "Oh, you got the cheese touch, the…" There's something a little- Okay
- 27:21like, my head's kinda just turned to the side a little bit.
- 27:24Yeah, okay.
- 27:25Well, I respect it.
- 27:25But I mean, no, I'm saying you can keep saying it.
- 27:28You can keep saying it.
- 27:29I just- It's doing something to you.
- 27:31It's not weird to anybody else?
- 27:33Mark?
- 27:33No, I think it's funny.
- 27:34Thank you.
- 27:34Okay, so it's the cheese touch.
- 27:38Did you expect that was gonna be a topic of tonight's discussion?
- 27:41No.
- 27:43Excellent.
- 27:43Never.
- 27:44Okay.
- 27:45So I wrote this little line in like the, the words of Kevin Malone when
- 27:51he's like, "Why say a lot where one fewer do, Trick?" Boy sleep with girl.
- 27:55Girl gets cursed.
- 27:56Girl has to sleep with someone else to pass on curse, and that's the movie.
- 28:01It is.
- 28:02In a nutshell.
- 28:04The- And I think I had high expectations for this, because I
- 28:08think it is like deemed as a good scary movie Like by who though?
- 28:15I do not know.
- 28:17So let's crack into it.
- 28:19All right.
- 28:20Um, I did like the, the vibes of the movie, like the muted-
- 28:26Mm-hmm … you know, what's it called?
- 28:29Cinematography.
- 28:30Yeah, sure.
- 28:31That.
- 28:31And the music was cool.
- 28:33Yeah.
- 28:34But the ac- like how the plot played out I just could not get on board
- 28:43with, like, any of these people Right.
- 28:45I did not like a single character And there was really no reason.
- 28:48I can't explain to you why I did not care even a little bit about the
- 28:52main girl, 'cause you're supposed to.
- 28:54She didn't really do anything.
- 28:56I mean, she was dumb.
- 28:57Exactly, yeah.
- 28:58But- She was dumb, and I think she just didn't do a good job acting.
- 29:01Maybe.
- 29:01I think she's a terrible actor Everything was just very dull.
- 29:05Like, she had no- Ex- yes … charisma.
- 29:07Right There was nothing that drew me to her.
- 29:11Yeah.
- 29:12Like, I didn't root for her at all.
- 29:13No.
- 29:14I was… I didn't have any attachment to her at all.
- 29:16Mm-mm.
- 29:17Yeah, and I think, just, just to piggyback off of what you
- 29:19said about the cinematography.
- 29:21For me, the way that they… and it's so unfortunate, because I do have problems
- 29:27with the movie, and just the way they filmed it, the… even down to the set
- 29:33pieces, the retro… You know, they had cars, houses, TVs, all that stuff, and
- 29:40then of course the '80s synth music.
- 29:42That just hit this nostalgic chord with me- Yeah
- 29:46that it was… it really felt like I was watching, you know, a horror
- 29:50movie from the '80s or whatever.
- 29:53And that, to me, was awesome.
- 29:56I loved the look and feel of it.
- 29:59But yeah, the, the actual vehicle upon which this thing gets passed
- 30:05was- Mm … unnecessary, I think.
- 30:08I mean, I, I personally, I do think… I liked the entity.
- 30:11I like, I like how… See, that reminds me of Michael Myers.
- 30:15Have you ever watched- Yeah … the Halloween 197- the 1978?
- 30:18It's been a while, but yeah.
- 30:19So, like, he never runs.
- 30:21He's always just walking.
- 30:23Yeah.
- 30:23And, but he's gonna… He is going to get you e- sooner or later, just from walking.
- 30:27He's that determined.
- 30:29He will get you.
- 30:30And so I think with this thing, it's really creepy that, all
- 30:34right, so you have this… it's just slowly walking towards you.
- 30:37You can see it.
- 30:38Yeah.
- 30:38And it's coming.
- 30:39But then, okay, well, I'm gonna get in my car.
- 30:42I'm gonna drive off and put some distance.
- 30:44Well, now it's even worse, 'cause you know it's still coming.
- 30:48Yeah.
- 30:48But now you don't know when.
- 30:50Is it gonna be- get there when you're asleep?
- 30:52And plus, you can't have anybody looking out for it, 'cause nobody
- 30:56else can see it if they haven't been infected with the cheese touch.
- 31:00Yeah.
- 31:01For me, that, that was great.
- 31:03Mm. Like, I love- Yeah … I love that aspect of it.
- 31:05I think the entity was great.
- 31:07But yeah, there w- there was just- I feel like there, there are some
- 31:11things that sometimes get added to these movies that don't really
- 31:16lend to the movie being more scary.
- 31:21Yeah.
- 31:21I agree with that.
- 31:22And so I think that's where it kinda falls off for me, is that you had something that
- 31:27was really good, you had something that was really creepy, but then there's these
- 31:30other components, and I don't know when we wanna bring up- Maybe a little later.
- 31:34A little later.
- 31:35I know what you're talking about.
- 31:35Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:35It, it just- You gotta build us to it … yeah.
- 31:37Uh, so yeah, that, that to me, sometimes shock val- value or shock
- 31:43factor is not really necessarily make it more horrific or more scary.
- 31:49Yeah.
- 31:49It just has… It just leaves me sitting back, "Why'd you do that?
- 31:51I didn't wanna see that." Right.
- 31:52Yeah.
- 31:52I think they had a concept- Yeah … and then it just didn't
- 31:58come to life in a rewarding way.
- 32:00But I mean, a lot of people, like you say, really like this movie, but
- 32:03I feel the same way about stuff like Hereditary and Midsommar that are,
- 32:07like, at the top of a lot of rated, like, horror movies, and I'm like, "No."
- 32:14Like, Midsommar, I called that one within, like- Mm … five to 10
- 32:16minutes of like, "Oh, well this is what's gonna happen"- Oh, yeah … and
- 32:19that's exactly what happened.
- 32:20And then, like, Hereditary was just kinda, like, weird for the
- 32:23sake of being weird, I felt like.
- 32:24Yeah.
- 32:25You know?
- 32:25I mean, I think sometimes the real super, like, artsy ones,
- 32:30people are like, "Oh, this was a thought-provoking film," or whatever.
- 32:33Yeah.
- 32:33And I c- and maybe because they're using this as a, you know- A
- 32:41comparison to, I don't know.
- 32:44Like, I mean, it is like an STD essentially.
- 32:47Like, you pass it on and, and like, a, as, as with a lot of them, you're
- 32:53never getting rid of it, like, I, I get the correlation- Yeah … but I
- 32:56don't think that it came to life and was fully, like, fleshed out in the way
- 33:03that was in a, like in a meaningful way.
- 33:06Yeah.
- 33:07Yeah.
- 33:07And I didn't, I didn't l- how it's, the entity itself is…
- 33:13Okay, so it, it's invisible.
- 33:15Yeah.
- 33:16So if you haven't been infected, you can't see it.
- 33:19But it apparently is still there.
- 33:21Like, it's an actual physical entity because, you know, he
- 33:24threw the blanket over it.
- 33:25They were able to shoot it with a gun.
- 33:27Yeah.
- 33:28And so, but you can't kill it.
- 33:31You know?
- 33:31It, it just, to me it would've been a lot scarier if it had been, like,
- 33:35maybe a demon, where it's truly like you, you know, you can't see it unless
- 33:38you're infected, but then also there is nothing you can do to it physically.
- 33:43Yeah.
- 33:43I think that would've been a lot worse or a lot scarier.
- 33:45Yeah.
- 33:46Yeah.
- 33:46But that's also the, kind of its weakness, I guess, right, is that
- 33:50it has to get that close to you.
- 33:52With, like, a demon, and it has all these powers, like a demon could
- 33:55be, like, in the room and manipulate objects and hurt you from afar.
- 34:01But with that one, like, when she was sitting in the, on the beach, and it got
- 34:06her and it, like, lifted up her hair, like- Yeah It had to get that close.
- 34:11You have at least that much- That's a good point … you can put some
- 34:15distance between it and you, and that's another thing of, like, it's not fast.
- 34:19So, like- … you could just keep driving, and that's kinda what the guy said.
- 34:24Like, that- Yeah … that dude set her up for success.
- 34:28Okay.
- 34:28Because he needed her to succeed- Right
- 34:30because he didn't want it to come after him, and then she just acted
- 34:35like nobody- A fool … gave her tips.
- 34:37Yeah, okay, I had issues with that whole thing.
- 34:40Okay.
- 34:41Obviously, you know, it's like, okay, well, okay, because they go to the movies,
- 34:46and then he sees his cheese touch, right?
- 34:49And so then- Uh-huh … they have to leave, but then it's like why
- 34:53did he feel like he had to drug her?
- 34:55She obvi- 'cause, like, they're making out in, all, like, out in the woods
- 34:59by the lake- Mm-hmm … and then they get in the car, and it's obvious that
- 35:02they've, like, already done the deed.
- 35:04For sure.
- 35:05So it's like, okay, and then he drugs her?
- 35:07So he could tie her up into a chair.
- 35:09To show her the entity?
- 35:11So, so I think- Yes
- 35:12to prove that it was real to her.
- 35:13Yeah.
- 35:13'Cause if he was like, "Oh, you got it now," and I think it was so he
- 35:18could show her, "This is what it is.
- 35:20This is what it looks like." And then he got her away from it.
- 35:23Yeah.
- 35:24Um, but all that was, I think, self-preservation.
- 35:27None of that had anything- Yeah, I think so … to do with her.
- 35:28Makes sense.
- 35:28Right, right, right.
- 35:29Yeah.
- 35:29Um, but then sh- honestly she wasted it.
- 35:34Yeah.
- 35:34Because she immediately just went and did, like, everything he told her not to do.
- 35:39Yeah.
- 35:42I really, like, watching this, I was like, first of all, what
- 35:45was the budget for this film?
- 35:47Because you could tell it was severely low.
- 35:50But I guess it actually did okay.
- 35:51The budget was, like, 1.3 million, and it grossed over 23 million.
- 35:55So I feel like… And this also came out in 2014.
- 35:57I don't know if you said that.
- 35:58So I think this was, like, 2014's version of Obsession.
- 36:03Where it was, like, an indie film that just blew up.
- 36:05But I just felt like just the directing was so poor.
- 36:10And also, I really just couldn't get over, so the friend that, like, so obviously
- 36:14was, like, in love with her- Yeah … I hate I thought he was the worst.
- 36:18But also, he is, like, the main character in, um, Atypical, which I think is…
- 36:23It's a show on Netflix where he has autism, and so the whole time, that's,
- 36:28like, all I could see was, like, the- Mm
- 36:30his autistic character playing this.
- 36:33But I just thought, like, man, you're, like, so, just,
- 36:36like, you're a sad puppy dog.
- 36:38Yeah.
- 36:38Like, you obviously like this girl.
- 36:39She's not into you.
- 36:40You're so pouty the whole time.
- 36:43Mm-hmm.
- 36:43I did not like him at all.
- 36:45He, he was kind of reminiscent of Bear from Obsession.
- 36:48He was.
- 36:49And- I said the same thing … what I don't understand, and this, I mean, it
- 36:53happened a little bit later in the movie, but happened twice in the movie, where
- 36:56guys are offering, "Give it to me." Yeah.
- 37:00What in the heck?
- 37:02I don't care how… For one, Greg didn't even know her that well.
- 37:06Yeah.
- 37:06But, like, and maybe you're b- you're desperate by that point
- 37:09to get it to somebody else.
- 37:12Yeah.
- 37:13But, like, you could give it to a random person.
- 37:16Well, she did do that.
- 37:16Sh- straight up murdered some guys on a, or at least a guy on a boat.
- 37:20We can infer that.
- 37:21Did she kill them?
- 37:21Well- I mean- It, you can, like okay- It's implied.
- 37:25She- She went to the beach, and then she started to swim out there, and
- 37:27then she's, like, driving home crying Well, she took her clothes off.
- 37:30Yeah.
- 37:30And then she- Oh … started going out towards that boat, and the
- 37:32next thing you see, yeah, it's her.
- 37:33And then the next morning it's back on her roof because- Oh, she
- 37:37didn't tell- She didn't tell him.
- 37:38Oh.
- 37:39It doesn't matter if you pass it on to somebody if you leave him in the cold.
- 37:42You're right.
- 37:43You're not helping yourself.
- 37:44You're right.
- 37:45But she had already had the blueprint, 'cause the what's-his-name did it for her.
- 37:48Yeah.
- 37:49I don't understand why she didn't just try and put as many people between
- 37:53her and the thing- And it, yeah … as possible, and then encourage that person
- 37:57to pass it on, encourage that person to pass it on, and then that person.
- 38:01Yeah.
- 38:01And then that way you got at least some time.
- 38:03A good buffer.
- 38:05Yeah.
- 38:05And then you can just always spend your life just, like-
- 38:08Yeah, 'cause you can always see it … you know, waiting to see.
- 38:10Yeah.
- 38:10You'll just know if it's coming for you or watching for somebody else.
- 38:12I wanna know how I guess because whenever they confront the guy
- 38:18that ga- what was his name?
- 38:19The guy that, like, gave it to her?
- 38:20Anyway.
- 38:20Oh yeah, at his house?
- 38:22Yeah, and then they're sitting outside.
- 38:23But- Oh … I was wondering how, 'cause like he said that some
- 38:26random girl gave it to him at a bar.
- 38:28So I wonder if, like, she had told him about it.
- 38:33I'm like, how did this guy figure it out?
- 38:34And I guess maybe- Maybe … maybe that girl told him.
- 38:38And I wonder if he knew, 'cause I wa- I was thinking- was maybe, 'cause he said
- 38:45he had given it to some- 'cause he knew obviously that if you give it to somebody
- 38:49and they die, then it comes back to you.
- 38:52So the girl at the very beginning, I think her name was, like, Annie.
- 38:55Yeah.
- 38:55So I wondered if that was his last person, and then it was back to
- 38:58him, and he had to give it to- Ooh, I don't know … this girl.
- 39:01Okay.
- 39:01I, 'cause I was like, whenever she, like, is running out of the house and,
- 39:05like, freaking out, and then it shows you, like, her legs on the beach- Ooh,
- 39:08yeah … I was like, dang, that's rough.
- 39:11Yeah, and so I was like, okay, this is set up for something creepy,
- 39:16and there were some creepy parts to it, but- Yeah, I think I … it
- 39:20didn't pay off like the beginning.
- 39:21Also, her dad was not concerned enough.
- 39:24No.
- 39:24No.
- 39:25At all.
- 39:26"Annie, what are you doing?" And then she runs in, she's
- 39:29running out on the lawn- Mm-hmm
- 39:31out into the street.
- 39:33She, for some reason, makes a big, huge circle, which I now know she's probably
- 39:37running, like, wide around the thing, but, like, runs back into her house,
- 39:42and then you can hear him be like, "What's going on?" Da, da, da, da.
- 39:46And then she runs back, gets in the car, drives off.
- 39:49They don't follow her.
- 39:49She's clearly in distress.
- 39:51Yeah, you're right.
- 39:52And then by the nighttime- I wonder if I had any … she's sitting on
- 39:56the beach, calling them, clearly, like- I- … last goodbyes.
- 40:00Yeah.
- 40:01And they don't say anything.
- 40:03Not like a, "Hey, you sound like you're about to do something really permanent,
- 40:07and I wish you wouldn't." Like- Yeah
- 40:10no response.
- 40:11Did, were they even looking, or what?
- 40:13Like, there's no urgency.
- 40:15This girl what was her name, Jamie?
- 40:17I think it's- Jay?
- 40:18I think it was Jay.
- 40:19Jay, yeah.
- 40:20She, um, her mom, we saw her one time sitting at the kitchen table talking
- 40:24to her friend, and then, um, obviously Greg's mom, that was a whole thing.
- 40:31But like but, like, the adults and the people at the school, when they
- 40:36went to the school and just let a bunch of random, like, college-age
- 40:41people walk into their s- high school hallways, and then, "Yeah, sure.
- 40:46I'll help you look through this yearbook to find this random
- 40:50person that you clearly don't know, and I'll give you their name.
- 40:52Hey, while we're at it, you want their home address?" Yeah.
- 40:56'Cause how did they find his house?
- 40:58And then it was, it's, like, all worn down.
- 41:01Yeah.
- 41:01There's like- Oh, that was the place he was staying- Yeah … by himself, yes.
- 41:07Oh, you're talking about, like, his actual house.
- 41:08When they went to f- and his mom was there.
- 41:10Mm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
- 41:10And they went to find, like, his home home 'cause I guess after he
- 41:13passed it off, maybe he went home.
- 41:14Yeah.
- 41:15But I'm like, the adults around here have questionable judgment.
- 41:20In any horror movie.
- 41:22Right, but at, like, at least in some, they act like they
- 41:26are invested- Yeah … at all.
- 41:28Yeah.
- 41:29Like, when your kid is like- deathly afraid, running from something, and
- 41:35you're not even asking q- good questions.
- 41:36You're not stopping her.
- 41:37I don't know.
- 41:38I just, I feel like there were some holes- Yes … that- Absolutely … we
- 41:43could'a, we could'a tied up a little bit.
- 41:45Yeah.
- 41:45Made this at least a little bit more- More pretty … engaging.
- 41:48Nobody cared enough about anything.
- 41:50She didn't care about those little boys creeping on her while she was in the pool.
- 41:53Right.
- 41:53I was like- I see you over there." Uh, yeah, I was like- "I'm in the pool" … I
- 41:57also was like, she's in the pool, but everybody else i- is out here in jackets.
- 42:00What are we doing?
- 42:01Yes.
- 42:01It was like, it was like- Le- leaves on the ground.
- 42:02Yes.
- 42:04Leaves on the ground.
- 42:05It was fall time.
- 42:06Girl, what are you doing?
- 42:07I have no clue.
- 42:08I was confused about what time of year this was.
- 42:10There was no direction.
- 42:11So there, there's a, a, an interesting point, and I wonder if
- 42:13it's kinda this, a similar thing.
- 42:16If you notice a lot of, a lot of the movie looks like it's maybe
- 42:20in the '80s- Yeah … or whatever.
- 42:22But then you have that girl that has, like, a touchscreen device.
- 42:25Looks like a little- Yeah, it looked like a little, uh, Little Mermaid toy, 'cause
- 42:28it was- Yeah, yeah … seashell shaped.
- 42:29And then it was- Oh, yeah … like, a Kindle or something with
- 42:32a screen in the middle.
- 42:33Oh, yes.
- 42:33So I- Yeah.
- 42:34So weird … so to me, I mean, I'm sitting here watching it.
- 42:36I hear the '80s synth music.
- 42:38I see the, the scenery.
- 42:39It looks straight-up '80s.
- 42:40And, and I, I'm like, "Okay, I'm gonna g- I have to go Google this,
- 42:43'cause I gotta know why is, this appear to be the '80s, but she has
- 42:47this touchscreen device?" Supposedly, the director did that on purpose to
- 42:55make it feel more like a nightmare.
- 42:57So that it was- Oh … more outside of time, so that you couldn't really
- 43:01pinpoint what era this movie is- Oh
- 43:04actually taking place in.
- 43:05Okay.
- 43:06And so, which I, it's ki- it's kind of a neat thing.
- 43:08So maybe it's a- That is kind of cool … maybe it's a similar thing.
- 43:10Maybe.
- 43:10Yeah.
- 43:11So in that universe, weather is not a reality?
- 43:15Well, like I said, if it's like a nightmare, then, like, things
- 43:16in a nightmare don't make sense.
- 43:17Just don't make sense, yeah.
- 43:18I guess.
- 43:19And so maybe- Nothing makes sense … maybe that's- Not a single
- 43:21thing … maybe that's just, yeah.
- 43:21That ugly puka shell necklace she wore t- on that date did not make sense.
- 43:30Oh my gosh … while she went to dinner after he's clearly seeing things that
- 43:34are not there, but then you still go.
- 43:36You still, okay, I got-
- 43:39Laid out … the, the boy, you're just talking, you're
- 43:43having a fine time, whatever.
- 43:45He sees somebody that's clearly not there, then he starts acting sketchy.
- 43:48Yeah.
- 43:49And is like, "We gotta go."
- 43:50You don't even get to watch- The movie?
- 43:51… the movie.
- 43:52Mm-hmm.
- 43:52And then, "Okay, yeah, let's go get a burger." And then furthermore, you
- 44:00are going to go out to them, some abandoned area with this young man
- 44:07who is clearly have some mental issues
- 44:12And I understand, look, things get to thinging and you
- 44:16like- But why were you there?
- 44:19Because- Yeah … he was clearly not right.
- 44:22W- oh- That was just a bad if he were a completely normal, there were no
- 44:25red flags before that, I could be like, "I see how that happened." Yeah.
- 44:29You know?
- 44:29Yeah.
- 44:30I see how you got to the car and that happened.
- 44:32Yeah.
- 44:32But girl- Yeah … you're an adult.
- 44:35She's, like, in college.
- 44:37You should know that.
- 44:39I guess if you're desperate- I guess … really desperate, I don't know.
- 44:43But she wasn't that desperate, right?
- 44:44'Cause they had been out a couple of times.
- 44:46Yeah.
- 44:47And they, she was like, it was her sister I guess said, "Have you guys yet?" Mm.
- 44:52And she said, "No, I think he wants to." Mm. So yeah, he definitely did want to,
- 44:57and that also would be, that would mess you up so hard to realize that dude
- 45:04went out with you multiple times- Yeah
- 45:06just so he could pass on this terrible thing to you.
- 45:09He's grooming her.
- 45:10Yeah.
- 45:10Yeah.
- 45:10Yeah.
- 45:11That would be so psychologically upsetting.
- 45:14It would.
- 45:15I would have a hard time trusting anybody after that.
- 45:17And she should have a hard time.
- 45:19Yeah.
- 45:20Um, also it's like, okay, if he is so worried about this thing following him,
- 45:26like, it was just interesting to me this, the cheese touch was at the theater- Yeah
- 45:31and then he was not concerned about it getting to the restaurant.
- 45:35I mean, that probably would've been, like, a, a, a 30-minute, a 30-minute walk, yeah.
- 45:39Like, his urgency, like, was there, but then it wasn't, but then it was
- 45:43there- Mm … but then it wasn't, and that made no sense to me.
- 45:45Well, and seating yourself, you know this thing's after you, and you seat
- 45:50yourself in a movie theater, a dark place where you can't see behind you.
- 45:57Like, you have, like, that's not good tactical skills.
- 46:02And then to leave, at least at the diner maybe he could see
- 46:05out the windows and around.
- 46:07Like, you have a better chance of seeing it.
- 46:09Yeah.
- 46:09But I don't know.
- 46:10I mean, it does seem And a- okay, this thing is not smart because if
- 46:16it were trying, at least halfway, it could've gotten her so many times.
- 46:20That girl fell asleep outside on the hood of her car all night.
- 46:26Yeah.
- 46:27And nothing touched her.
- 46:28This I'm convinced it is lazy.
- 46:31Like, you're not even trying.
- 46:34It's no Michael Myers.
- 46:35It is not.
- 46:35Make no mistake.
- 46:36No.
- 46:37That's hilarious.
- 46:38I forgot that.
- 46:39It's been a while since I have watched this movie, and I
- 46:41thought about re-watching it, but I just didn't have time- No
- 46:44so I forgot that she fell asleep on the hood of her car.
- 46:45Don't do that to yourself.
- 46:47Yeah, and I just feel like-
- 46:51The, um, I didn't get the explanations I was hoping for, right?
- 46:54So like why, where did this thing begin?
- 46:56What are the origins?
- 46:57Like, yeah, I wanna know that too.
- 46:58Why are you transmitting it in this way?
- 47:01I had questions, and it never… It's just like, "This is the thing." And you're
- 47:05watching this one person deal with it.
- 47:07You get no answers- Yeah … no backstory, no nothing.
- 47:11And then really there's not a good resolution- No … either.
- 47:15I did like how it ended.
- 47:18You did?
- 47:19I kinda did.
- 47:20I also liked the- 'Cause that hacked me off
- 47:21I liked how it ended.
- 47:22I mean- For real?
- 47:23… 'cause it's just like- Yeah.
- 47:23I, I thought it was cool that it had that thing in the background … see,
- 47:26it's like you don't know if it's did they successfully pass it off, or do they-
- 47:30Oh … still have it, and that someone who is like is in she's touch phone.
- 47:35It's that, that's one of the creepy things about it too, is, you know, like,
- 47:38you don't know at any given time is it just somebody walking towards you, or
- 47:43is it that thing coming to kill you?
- 47:45Yeah.
- 47:45Yeah.
- 47:45When they were sitting on the grass and he's like, "Do you
- 47:47see that girl hiding?" Yeah.
- 47:49It's just a random girl.
- 47:50And they're like, "Yeah." And she, like, he waited until it was
- 47:53right up on them, so she heard it.
- 47:55Yeah.
- 47:55It was so weird.
- 47:56Like- I would've been so- You could've asked- … uncomfortable
- 47:57… when she was 50 yards away.
- 48:00You're so right.
- 48:01I need to talk about this darn pool scene because- Oh, okay … I'm like,
- 48:07they go from, like- Well, but is this also after… I think this is
- 48:12also after- That's like- … the big event … the climax of the… Yeah.
- 48:16Are we- So- Are we ready to discuss that?
- 48:17Yeah, we… Okay, firstly- Well, so the peach- Can we run it back even before…
- 48:20Yeah.
- 48:21Sure.
- 48:21So even before that.
- 48:22Okay.
- 48:22Okay.
- 48:23The first time she saw it in her home- Mm-hmm … the girl that got
- 48:26into her house that first night.
- 48:28Oh.
- 48:29Why was it peeing?
- 48:31Yeah.
- 48:31Yeah, that don't… I didn't get that.
- 48:33Wasn't it also naked?
- 48:33Yeah, so, like, they're all in some state of undress basically.
- 48:37So sometimes they're, like, completely naked.
- 48:38Sometimes they have, like, just the top off or whatever.
- 48:41Ugh.
- 48:41So she was, like, partially unclothed.
- 48:45She's peeing everywhere.
- 48:47I say that, but nobody else can see it, so is it real?
- 48:50Is it r- is there- Real pee?
- 48:51… is there water on the ground just following her?
- 48:53Do other people see that?
- 48:54'Cause when you throw the blanket over the dad at the end, when it's
- 48:58taken the form of her dad, like, it covered him, so- Well, and I think
- 49:03you could see its blood when they shot it in the pool or something.
- 49:05Yeah.
- 49:06Maybe.
- 49:06So, like, you can see its bodily fluid at that point- I believe- … but not-
- 49:09So hacked off … just some random pee Well, we don't, we don't know if… Like,
- 49:12so the blood that we saw in the pool, we don't know if that's- From- Like,
- 49:16if you're infected, can you see that?
- 49:18Or if you're not infected, can you still see it?
- 49:20Oh, we don't know.
- 49:20Or is that- Yeah … is it still invisible?
- 49:22That, that's- I mean, that's true … yeah, we, so we, we don't know.
- 49:23'Cause it was through her eyes at that point.
- 49:24Right.
- 49:25Right.
- 49:25Yeah.
- 49:26So I don't know.
- 49:27That was weird.
- 49:29Yeah, that, I don't… I'm sure there's probably some kind of symbolic…
- 49:33I mean, I'm sure there's probably some kind of meaning behind it.
- 49:35Probably so.
- 49:36It, it went way over my head.
- 49:37Yeah.
- 49:37I'll admit, so.
- 49:37And I did not care to go deep into it.
- 49:40Same.
- 49:40Same.
- 49:41Yeah.
- 49:41Yeah.
- 49:41But there are probably… if somebody's a big fan of it and is very intellectual
- 49:44and whatnot- You cannot be slow … they might be listening to this and be
- 49:47like, "These idiots, they don't understand"- And you're right, we don't
- 49:50how to interpret great art.
- 49:51And you're right.
- 49:52And I don't care to.
- 49:53Oh, yeah.
- 49:53Yeah.
- 49:54I don't either.
- 49:54I'm a simple country- I can't interpret … bumpkin, I guess.
- 49:57Look, I watch scary movies not for the depth.
- 50:00I just like the good scares, you know?
- 50:02I usually- Yeah.
- 50:02Yeah.
- 50:02Yeah.
- 50:03So there was that girl in the beginning.
- 50:05And then I think the next big one was- Greg's mom probably- Was
- 50:09that before or after the beach?
- 50:09I think that was af- No, okay, that was after the
- 50:11beach … that was after the beach.
- 50:12After.
- 50:12So there's the beach.
- 50:13The beach, the part that I wanna talk about on the beach is
- 50:16the… My goodness, I don't know.
- 50:19I may talk about this in the, uh, dumb decisions, actually.
- 50:22Mm-hmm.
- 50:22I feel like we can revisit a few things there.
- 50:24Yeah, I mean, just the whole, you know, she, she tries to shoot it,
- 50:28you know- Yeah … and just walks out there and is basically just like, "So
- 50:32I just started blasting," you know?
- 50:34Essentially.
- 50:34You know?
- 50:34And poor, uh- Greg … Greg.
- 50:38Yeah.
- 50:38Yeah, I can't even remember all their names.
- 50:39He's out there clearly on the beach, clearly in the line of sight-
- 50:42Mm-hmm … and she's just firing away.
- 50:46Well, that's what Paul did, too.
- 50:47Yeah, at- In the pool … at the pool And shot that little girl in the leg.
- 50:51It's yeah, let's just keep- Pew, pew, pew, pew, pew.
- 50:55This is insane.
- 50:56Yeah.
- 50:57You, at this point he can't even see it.
- 50:59At least Jay could see the thing in front of her.
- 51:02And I could see how you'd be like, "All right. There's a physical thing in
- 51:05front of me. I'm shooting at it." Yeah.
- 51:07He is wildly shooting at nothing.
- 51:09And his friends are over there.
- 51:11Yeah.
- 51:11And I'm c- convinced.
- 51:13Here's the deal.
- 51:14We've talked about this before.
- 51:16People in the South don't be doing that stuff.
- 51:19Gun safety is a more probably well-understood concept.
- 51:25Even if you don't own guns or shoot guns you understand that
- 51:29on the other end of this barrel you don't want a person you like.
- 51:33Bad things.
- 51:33You don't even want them close.
- 51:36Yeah.
- 51:37But no, let's just bing, bang, bing, ba-boom.
- 51:39Like- Bing, ba, boom.
- 51:42What are you even doing, Paul?
- 51:45Yeah.
- 51:46I… Well, and that's like how did they go from, like, that whole
- 51:50fiasco at the beach- Mm … where they're like… Then they get,
- 51:53like, trapped in that shed with it.
- 51:55Yeah, and she- And then she- … ran off and left them.
- 51:58Yes.
- 51:58And- And then wrecked the car … then wrecks the car.
- 52:01I mean, like- Yes … a second after you get in it.
- 52:03Can I ask you how hitting a mailbox and some corn knocked you out?
- 52:08Yeah.
- 52:08This girl is weak.
- 52:10What kind of corn is this?
- 52:12I mean, that's cement corn, girl.
- 52:16I do not know.
- 52:17Right.
- 52:18Seriously, just the lack of direction, How
- 52:21Did I miss it?
- 52:21Or like when did they come up with this plan to go to the pool and electro- and
- 52:27like put all of these electric things- Mm … in the water with Jay also in the water?
- 52:33He also had- So I think the plan- … the idea … Yeah, go ahead.
- 52:34Yeah, the plan was for her to get out, and then they were gonna start
- 52:37just putting these electronics in the water or appliances in the
- 52:41water and to- 'Cause It's slow.
- 52:42They wanted her to be in the middle.
- 52:44The idea was for it to try and just, you know, w- you know, singular-mindedly
- 52:50like go after her, go into the water.
- 52:52But that boy, Hugh, he was like, "It's not dumb." Yeah.
- 52:56So It started being like, "Oh, I'm gonna pick up this toaster and throw it in there
- 53:00with you." Like, I'll electrocute- Oh
- 53:02you first." That's why that stuff started throw- getting thrown in, 'cause the
- 53:05thing was throwing it in- Oh … instead of getting in like they thought.
- 53:09Yeah, so it can actually … This actually I'm just now realizing.
- 53:13Mm-hmm.
- 53:13This thing can think.
- 53:15Yeah.
- 53:16I don't know why that, that just dawned on me until now- I think he told her that
- 53:19'cause … Yeah, yeah.
- 53:20He said, "It's slow, but it's not dumb." Yeah.
- 53:21Right, 'cause he stopped, 'cause they, they were like, "Okay, I'm
- 53:23in the pool." "Oh, no, there it is," and she's pointing it out.
- 53:26And it's … No, no, he's, he's not moving.
- 53:28He just stopped And then it started picking up those appliances and
- 53:31throwing them in the water with her.
- 53:33Yeah.
- 53:33Oh, okay.
- 53:34That makes sense.
- 53:34I wonder if I just missed… But they didn't talk about the plan, or, like, they
- 53:38didn't come to him and- No, he just, he just said- … we just have to figure out-
- 53:40That's what they're about to do … yeah.
- 53:42Mm. He just said, "Do you trust me?" And then they go to the pool and
- 53:44start plugging in appliances, and- And like, "No, Paul, I don't trust you."
- 53:48Yeah.
- 53:49"You're a little weasel man." He is.
- 53:52And- He's just such a sad puppy.
- 53:53Yeah.
- 53:54And I don't understand also, this thing walks very slowly.
- 53:58But all of a sudden it becomes Michael Phelps when it comes into the water.
- 54:03It's true.
- 54:04It's a water bender.
- 54:05I guess so.
- 54:07Like, what are you doing?
- 54:08I guess.
- 54:09It was so fast.
- 54:10Yeah.
- 54:11It, she was out in the middle of this huge pool, and just boom, I got your leg.
- 54:16What?
- 54:18See, I don't… That, that also is something that doesn't sit right with
- 54:21me, because if it can swim, and it can swim well, why doesn't it run?
- 54:26Yeah.
- 54:26And to me it would've been, it would make more sense and it would be more
- 54:30creepy and, and more in line with, or more consistent if it would have
- 54:35just wandered out into the pool.
- 54:37'Cause it's, it… I don't know, it's almost, to me, scarier if it's, like, this
- 54:40mindless thing that just doesn't stop.
- 54:42Right.
- 54:43Yeah.
- 54:43And it also kinda teleported when she was at class, and it s- she saw it.
- 54:47She was sitting there, and she saw it out the window.
- 54:49Oh, yeah, and it was- And it was walking toward her, and I was like, okay, she's
- 54:52in the building, so if she just keeps eyes on it, she's in the building.
- 54:55But she's walking down the hallway, and it was walking straight toward her
- 54:57to the classroom, and she had made, like, a couple stops, and then she
- 55:00just looks around behind her in the hallway, and it's all of a sudden there.
- 55:04It's like- And so it just kind of appeared there, but you
- 55:04can just drive away from it.
- 55:05Why can't it just poof into the car with you if it can- Oh … pop up
- 55:09wherever?
- 55:09Yeah, and, but also, like, why
- 55:13was it on the roof?
- 55:14That, that also- Just standing there- I don't know … on the roof.
- 55:18Yeah.
- 55:19That didn't make any sense.
- 55:19No, it didn't.
- 55:20Well, the first night, I couldn't tell if that was it or if it was
- 55:25Paul, 'cause he was such a little creeper- … outside her window.
- 55:29It was, um, like, she woke up or she went to sleep or something that first night.
- 55:33It must've been it, but it was, like, crouched up next
- 55:37to the house under her window.
- 55:40Did you see that?
- 55:41I did not see that.
- 55:42Yeah, it was, like, right at the beginning.
- 55:44Huh.
- 55:44And it was fully clothed, so I couldn't tell, but it could have
- 55:47also taken the shape of Paul.
- 55:50Yeah.
- 55:50So I assumed it was just, like, kinda waiting there.
- 55:52Mm. And I'm like, "Why didn't you just get in?" Ah, man.
- 55:55Yeah.
- 55:55It's so… All right.
- 55:56So again, this is all kinda just coming into my head now.
- 55:58It can get on the roof- Mm-hmm … but it can't get through a door?
- 56:04Yeah.
- 56:04It always has to bust the window and go through the window.
- 56:07Ooh-wee, that, when, uh, her little friend was…
- 56:11And they, you know, she at first- In the doorway … opened the
- 56:13door for after she saw the peeing girl, and then she closed it.
- 56:18Her sister and Paul came up, and then the, uh, the, um, li-
- 56:21Yes … little mermaid girl came up.
- 56:24And she was like, "It's me. There's nobody out here." And they opened it,
- 56:26and it was, like, that big, tall thing.
- 56:27That tall man.
- 56:29That scared me.
- 56:29That was creepy.
- 56:30Yeah, no, that was creepy.
- 56:31That absolutely- That was creepy … got me.
- 56:31I did like that.
- 56:32Yeah.
- 56:32And they got me with another jump scare when they were at what's
- 56:35his name's abandoned house.
- 56:37Uh-huh.
- 56:37And the sister the closet wall popped open, and it she was
- 56:41there through the other side.
- 56:42Oh, yeah.
- 56:43And it was just an accident.
- 56:43It was, like, a funny little thing, but- Yeah … that, I
- 56:46kinda, they got me on that one.
- 56:48Yeah, some, some things did get me.
- 56:50Yeah.
- 56:52All right, are you r- ready to talk about the- I think so.
- 56:56Yeah.
- 56:57I just wanna know why.
- 56:59Yes.
- 56:59Like, why?
- 57:00Yes.
- 57:00Yeah.
- 57:00There was absolutely no reason.
- 57:00We, we didn't have to do that.
- 57:02I feel like this is, like, my issue with Saw, with, like, the Saw movies.
- 57:06Okay.
- 57:06Is, like, it just, it was just added for shock factor and, like, because they
- 57:12can get away with, with doing something like that, 'cause that was wrong.
- 57:15So for those of you who have not watched this movie, and I feel like we
- 57:20do a good job really of, like, talking about it, and you could probably
- 57:24listen to this episode and not watch it and have a good idea what happens.
- 57:29So- What was his name?
- 57:31Greg?
- 57:32Yeah.
- 57:32Yeah.
- 57:32J gives Greg the cheese touch, and Greg's, like, super chill about it,
- 57:38and he's, like, acting like nothing's happened, no big deal, after seeing all
- 57:42of this, like, weird stuff at the beach.
- 57:45And then one night she wakes up, 'cause I think she hears something
- 57:49across the street, and she looks over across the street because her and Greg
- 57:52are next door, like, they- they're, like, neighbors, and she sees a woman.
- 57:57I don't think at this point we know who this woman is.
- 57:59I mean, we know it's the entity, but, like, who it is we don't know
- 58:02the identity that it's taking over.
- 58:05Anyway, so she's, like, trying to, I think, get its attention,
- 58:08and it breaks- Well, 'cause she thought it was him, 'cause it
- 58:10looked like him when it was outside.
- 58:11Yeah, it looked like a man when it was outside.
- 58:12Oh.
- 58:13I think it w- it was him, like, in pajamas.
- 58:16Oh, okay.
- 58:16And she was, like, trying to knock.
- 58:17She was like hey, hey." And then I think she realized it wasn't him
- 58:21when it couldn't get in the house.
- 58:23Yeah.
- 58:23Oh, okay.
- 58:24And it tried to get in that way.
- 58:24Yeah, it broke the window and crawled in.
- 58:25Yeah.
- 58:26So then she follows it- … and goes into the house, and then we learn this
- 58:33entity is Greg's mother, and she is, like, pounding on Greg's door pounding, and he
- 58:39opens the door and he's like, "What the heck, Mom?" And then she attacks him.
- 58:45And does unspeakable things- … to her son.
- 58:51And just, they could have honestly not shown, they could have,
- 58:56like, not acted that out and you would've- Yeah … had an idea.
- 59:01But you see exactly what's happening.
- 59:05Yeah.
- 59:05And it's awful.
- 59:07Uh, yeah.
- 59:07There's- It changed me … no reason for that … for the worst.
- 59:11It changed me.
- 59:11Yeah.
- 59:11That, I don't even know how… 'Cause we watched this, I think back in 2014.
- 59:16Probably.
- 59:16Shortly after it came out.
- 59:17Yeah.
- 59:18I did not remember that at all, so I don't know if I just- Blocked it out.
- 59:21I guess so.
- 59:22Is it that bad?
- 59:22'Cause and you didn't remember either.
- 59:23Honestly, it may not have been in a theatrical release.
- 59:25It's that- Maybe not.
- 59:27I don't know … weird.
- 59:28I, I don't remember that at all.
- 59:30Really?
- 59:31And when- That's weird that you don't remember.
- 59:33Yeah.
- 59:33I feel like I would've recalled that.
- 59:34'Cause that to me is like… All right.
- 59:37So have you seen the movie Barbarian?
- 59:41N- yes, it was on.
- 59:43I put it on, but then it was when Taylor Swift tickets were on sale.
- 59:47And so I got into the queue and I was laser focused on that.
- 59:51Okay.
- 59:51So I need to rewatch it.
- 59:52Yeah.
- 59:53So you don't remember anything shocking there?
- 59:54Put that, put that on the wheel.
- 59:55Not really.
- 59:55I think it might- I'll check it.
- 59:57'Cause if- Yeah, definitely put that on the wheel if it's not there.
- 1:00:00Um- It's on.
- 1:00:01No, it's not, it's not on the level of what we're talking about with this,
- 1:00:06but it's definitely something that when you see this scene, you're, it's
- 1:00:10very unlikely you will forget it.
- 1:00:11Let me put it that way.
- 1:00:12Yeah.
- 1:00:12So that's the thing, I don't… yeah, I don't know if maybe it just wasn't
- 1:00:15in the version that we watched or- I'm wondering if we saw, like, a director's
- 1:00:18cut or an extended cut or- I don't know … uh- 'Cause I do not remember that-
- 1:00:22… differently rated- … at all … version.
- 1:00:25Yeah, I don't remember that at all.
- 1:00:28Um- So then maybe, maybe it was left out.
- 1:00:30There was literally no reason.
- 1:00:33No.
- 1:00:34Yeah.
- 1:00:34I couldn't tell you.
- 1:00:35Yeah, 'cause that goes back to what I was saying earlier, like,
- 1:00:38I… If it doesn't make the movie more frightening- Then why do it?
- 1:00:46Yeah.
- 1:00:47Yeah.
- 1:00:47Because for me, it, it certainly did not make it more scary.
- 1:00:51It was just unnecessary.
- 1:00:53Yeah.
- 1:00:54And just made, just made me, it made me feel uncomfortable.
- 1:00:57I mean, I'll be- Oh, absolutely.
- 1:00:58And it doesn't- For sure, but I don't, that's not why-
- 1:01:00Yeah … I watch a horror movie.
- 1:01:02I don't watch it to … just 'cause I wanna feel uncomfortable.
- 1:01:05It's 'cause I like to watch scary movies.
- 1:01:07Right.
- 1:01:07Right.
- 1:01:07Yeah.
- 1:01:07And sometimes there's a shocking thing that happens in a movie or a TV show
- 1:01:11that advances the plot, or it- Right
- 1:01:13makes you have a different understanding of the situation at hand.
- 1:01:16That's not the case here.
- 1:01:17No, yeah.
- 1:01:18Yeah.
- 1:01:19. I think, and maybe they could, like, I think maybe would it have been
- 1:01:24different for y'all if it wasn't his mom?
- 1:01:27Y- yeah, it definitely, I mean, it would've been like, "Why?" But
- 1:01:31it also, yeah, I mean, it being his mom, there's a diff- there's
- 1:01:35a different level of- Sickness
- 1:01:37WTF.
- 1:01:38Yeah, 'cause I mean, it's, it, you could sit here and realize that, all right,
- 1:01:43so the truth of it is it's not his mom.
- 1:01:45Yeah.
- 1:01:45It's, it's the entity.
- 1:01:46But it's, it's still the visual representation- Yeah … of his mom,
- 1:01:51and so that's what makes it just icky.
- 1:01:53Icky, yeah.
- 1:01:54And yeah, just that to me just completely, I mean, it
- 1:01:58basically ruins the movie for me.
- 1:02:00I kind of, I agree with that.
- 1:02:01And I don't think she, she did, she didn't tell anybody at all, did she?
- 1:02:05She didn't talk to her friends or her sister about that?
- 1:02:09I don't remember if she did or not.
- 1:02:10I don't think she does.
- 1:02:10They don't show it.
- 1:02:11If she did, I'm like I would be needing to, um- Debrief.
- 1:02:14Yeah.
- 1:02:14I would need, like a, a se- a session.
- 1:02:17Yeah.
- 1:02:17Yeah.
- 1:02:19But then we see, like, what happens to you whenever, like, it gets you, so I thought,
- 1:02:23"Okay, well, then that little detail was important for the plot," but overall,
- 1:02:26like, we did not need- No … all of that.
- 1:02:28He could've been mangled like that girl at the beginning, and
- 1:02:31that probably would've been more visually impactful than what we saw.
- 1:02:35Yes.
- 1:02:36So that, yeah not the best decision.
- 1:02:39Yeah.
- 1:02:39Speaking of decisions- Shall we talk about the dumbest ones?
- 1:02:44The dumbest- We shall … decisions.
- 1:02:45Okay.
- 1:02:46I mean, I kinda have gone through kinda my tops.
- 1:02:49I've got, I've got a few that we haven't mentioned yet- Okay.
- 1:02:51How about that?
- 1:02:53… I don't think we've touched on yet.
- 1:02:53So, uh, first one, when they went to, I think it may have been the, the
- 1:02:59lake house where… or Greg's family's lake house- Yeah … or whatever.
- 1:03:02Was that the one where they were hanging up the noise makers over the windows?
- 1:03:06There was the rope with- Mm … the little rattly things on them.
- 1:03:08I think that was the house that Hugh had been staying at.
- 1:03:11They found them at his house, and then I think… I can't remember if
- 1:03:16they hung those up there or when she, when they went back home to her house.
- 1:03:20There was a scene- And they were all gonna stay.
- 1:03:22There was one where they were hanging them up.
- 1:03:23Yeah.
- 1:03:23And they're hanging them up- I can't remember if it was there or at her house
- 1:03:25in front of the window.
- 1:03:26Yeah.
- 1:03:26Because when someone breaks the glass- Thank goodness.
- 1:03:31Thank goodness we put something there to rattle so that I
- 1:03:35don't hear the window breaking.
- 1:03:38The, the glass shattering?
- 1:03:41No, as soon as I saw that, I- I was like, this is the Signs episode all over again
- 1:03:44because that did not occur to me at all.
- 1:03:46I know.
- 1:03:46I was like- I know … oh, he hung those up so he could hear it coming.
- 1:03:50No, I saw that- Yeah … and I was like, "That's dumb." Okay.
- 1:03:54What are you doing?
- 1:03:55Do you- When you say it, when you put it like that- Right … it makes sense.
- 1:03:58No, I really do appreciate that about you guys because I literally watched that
- 1:04:03and had zero thoughts, zero thoughts.
- 1:04:06So whenever you, like, watch a movie or watch a show, are you like, "Well,
- 1:04:09that's not realistic. That's not realistic. That wouldn't happen." Yeah.
- 1:04:12"This is dumb." Do you do that a lot?
- 1:04:14Beth can, uh- Alek does it to you.
- 1:04:16She can vouch for that.
- 1:04:17Alek does it to you, and sometimes I'm like, "Oh, my God, if you
- 1:04:19say one more freaking thing- Yes
- 1:04:21I'm gonna kick you out of here." It's movie magic.
- 1:04:24Movie magic, Alek.
- 1:04:25But- Yeah there's a- How many times have I told you?
- 1:04:27It's called willing suspension of disbelief.
- 1:04:30Like that is what it is.
- 1:04:31I don't, one- That's a lot of words … one that stands out, it's the
- 1:04:34opening scene, scene two, or one of the opening scenes of, uh, Walking Dead.
- 1:04:38I can't remember which, which… or not, not the opening scene, but it's
- 1:04:42in the first episode where they're aiming a gun 'cause they're, there's,
- 1:04:47like, somebody dropped- Oh, my goodness … they got a- It's always guns with
- 1:04:50him … anyway they, he's, he's holding- This might- … he's holding a Glock.
- 1:04:52Yeah.
- 1:04:52And he looks at him.
- 1:04:52He goes, "Oh, your safety's on." And he does this thing with his thumb, and
- 1:04:55I looked over at Beth and I was like, "Glocks don't have safeties." Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:59And so, you know.
- 1:04:59Alek would've done the same thing.
- 1:05:01Yeah.
- 1:05:01Yeah, so I mean, it's stuff like that where if I see- Right … stuff in a movie
- 1:05:04and I'm like, "Oh, that wouldn't work."
- 1:05:04You just have to point it out.
- 1:05:05Yeah, like, that's, that's dumb.
- 1:05:07Well, no one- Or if there's- … no one would do that … bad form, like a police
- 1:05:09officer or a military person and they're, like, not holding the gun correctly.
- 1:05:13Mm-hmm.
- 1:05:13He's like, "They would've been trained better than that."
- 1:05:15Alek does the same thing.
- 1:05:16Is it like a, it's like you're twitching.
- 1:05:18You're like, "Don't say it.
- 1:05:19Don't say it." And you're like, "I just gotta say it." I gotta say it.
- 1:05:22Some- sometimes, yeah.
- 1:05:22I mean, it's, if it's, if it's really blatant, like, it's something stupid.
- 1:05:26You know, like- Yeah … I mean, like, if it's, if it's a police
- 1:05:28officer and they, they're holding a gun in an unsafe manner- Right
- 1:05:32or, like, finger on the trigger and pointing it at somebody they're
- 1:05:34not meaning to shoot- Mm … then that's where you're like, "Oh, okay,
- 1:05:36that's… What are you doing?" Yeah.
- 1:05:37"Did anybody advise this?" Yeah.
- 1:05:39But yeah, so there was that one.
- 1:05:41That's fantastic.
- 1:05:41And of course more, more gun safety.
- 1:05:44Well, I say gun safety.
- 1:05:45Really, the stupid thing here was, so on the beach when she, the thing
- 1:05:50is attacking, and they're like, "Oh, okay, I gotta get the gun."
- 1:05:54She runs into this little building.
- 1:05:57She takes the box down from the shelf, opens the box up,
- 1:06:00starts retrieving the gun.
- 1:06:01Why didn't you just grab the box and run out of the room?
- 1:06:05We know this thing walks.
- 1:06:06Yeah.
- 1:06:06We know it doesn't run.
- 1:06:07We know you can get away from it.
- 1:06:08Go get the gun, get out of the room, the little trap you just put yourself into.
- 1:06:13Go- With only one exit, right?
- 1:06:15Right.
- 1:06:15Yeah.
- 1:06:15Well, we, we found out it had that other, with that side sliding door- Yeah, that's
- 1:06:18true … after it busted the first door.
- 1:06:19But it's like why did you do that- Yeah, it was so- … at all?
- 1:06:23Like she's like, "Okay, let me open the box and get the gun out and do…" Like,
- 1:06:26no, just grab it and go somewhere else.
- 1:06:29Yeah.
- 1:06:29I, I don't know.
- 1:06:30This girl- That's, that's, that's the kinda stuff that
- 1:06:31sticks out to me with this movie.
- 1:06:33You would survive in after movie.
- 1:06:33Made one bad decision after the other.
- 1:06:34Yeah.
- 1:06:35Actually- I would not … well, more, more on that later.
- 1:06:37I would survive this movie, but- More on that- I think I would
- 1:06:39too … more on that later.
- 1:06:41Okay.
- 1:06:41I, I do have some thoughts on that.
- 1:06:42Okay.
- 1:06:42Oh.
- 1:06:43The other one, dumb decisions, again the, I thought the throwing
- 1:06:47electrical appliances into the pool or having that set up where,
- 1:06:51like, you're literally sitting in a pool and you have all these- Yeah
- 1:06:53electrical appliances just sitting there.
- 1:06:56Yeah.
- 1:06:57And I, but then it didn't work even a little bit.
- 1:06:59No, it didn't, and- Well- … which didn't make sense Uh-uh … not to me.
- 1:07:02Were they plugged in?
- 1:07:03They were, and then they were like, "Why is it not working?" And I had the
- 1:07:07same question, to be honest with you.
- 1:07:08Yeah, I- 'Cause, uh, the lights are on in the pool, so it's not
- 1:07:10like the electricity was out.
- 1:07:11And they had them all plugged into those, um, like surge protectors.
- 1:07:15So, so I don't know, and this may be a science thing that
- 1:07:17maybe, maybe, I don't know.
- 1:07:18I've not researched this, but, there's probably, maybe they, their goal was
- 1:07:23to push them all in, like, quickly and push to get- Yeah … more electricity.
- 1:07:28I, I don't know if you can just throw one electric appliance-
- 1:07:30Oh … into a big pool.
- 1:07:32Yes And it's like diluted with all the water.
- 1:07:33I think that is true because I think that's probably the case.
- 1:07:37Because when I was growing up, we had a family member who had
- 1:07:41a pool, and it, you know, like sometimes there'll be lights- Yeah
- 1:07:44in the sides of a pool, like an in-ground pool.
- 1:07:48And for years, I would go, and when I would kick off of one side,
- 1:07:52I could feel, like, something.
- 1:07:55And I, and I was like, "I feel like there's some electricity
- 1:07:59in the water." You guys, yeah.
- 1:07:59But I, for years, just was like, "Well, I guess I won't touch that wall."
- 1:08:03And I just, carefree, was just…
- 1:08:05And then I told, like, my mom, and she was like, "No, no, no." And I said
- 1:08:10something around Chris, our cousin.
- 1:08:12He was like I don't know." And then some weeks later, he was like,
- 1:08:15"Yeah, I'm glad you said something.
- 1:08:17There was definitely a current there." Oh my God.
- 1:08:20But I think just because it wasn't, like, strong.
- 1:08:22Like there's not a lot of voltage probably- Yeah … in the one TV or
- 1:08:26the one whatever compared to this huge, like, Olympic-sized swimming pool.
- 1:08:29Right.
- 1:08:30So maybe if they were able to put them all in, you could feel some kind of buzz,
- 1:08:33but I don't think it would've killed it.
- 1:08:35Yeah, I mean, and so that's really all I had for…
- 1:08:38I mean, I had, you know, any time a gun was used m- you know, there was
- 1:08:43there was complete disregard for what was on the other end of the barrel.
- 1:08:46Uh, but other than that, that's, that's all I got for dumb decisions on this one.
- 1:08:49Okay.
- 1:08:49Well, mine were pretty obvious.
- 1:08:51Poor Jay just- Trying to be with this man.
- 1:08:57I don't know.
- 1:08:58Poor girl.
- 1:08:58That w- I mean- Yeah … you know, the whole thing could've been
- 1:09:01avoided if she would've just not, Yeah, just put up better boundaries,
- 1:09:05friend … if she would've just stopped- Mm … when he went crazy.
- 1:09:08Save yourself for marriage.
- 1:09:08I mean, that, this is, like- What a boundary … the poster what a great
- 1:09:13advertisement for- For saving yourself-
- 1:09:15for marriage.
- 1:09:16I know.
- 1:09:17Yeah, because if you dated somebody long enough to get married to them,
- 1:09:19you would know if they were being chased by an entity by that point.
- 1:09:22Surely.
- 1:09:22Yeah.
- 1:09:23Yeah.
- 1:09:23You know?
- 1:09:23And they're probably not gonna marry you just so they can pass off this
- 1:09:26thing to you, to their spouse now.
- 1:09:28Well- Fellas are cool with that.
- 1:09:29Yeah, playing the, playing the long game.
- 1:09:30But, but what's-his-name and- Some people would … those little weirdos
- 1:09:32stayed together at the end, Jay and Paul.
- 1:09:36Yeah.
- 1:09:36They were, I guess they were just like, "Well, it'll get both of us. Paul, it'll
- 1:09:40get you first, then me." I did think it was funny, like the whole scene,
- 1:09:44because I guess she does give it to Paul.
- 1:09:46Yeah.
- 1:09:46And then you see him, like, driving his car, and you see those two
- 1:09:48hookers on the side of the road.
- 1:09:49Yeah.
- 1:09:50And I was like, "My goodness gracious, he's gonna give it to those poor hookers."
- 1:09:54But then I was like, "Why didn't you?" That actually wouldn't be a bad idea.
- 1:09:56Because then, yeah, 'cause they're gonna give it to who even knows?
- 1:10:02A lot of people, and then that person is g- Like, here's the deal.
- 1:10:07Smart.
- 1:10:07This is not, I'm not saying this in a judgy way.
- 1:10:10It's just a matter of fact.
- 1:10:12Yeah.
- 1:10:12Folks who are soliciting that probably are not that choosy, so they're probably-
- 1:10:21Mm … in and about with a lot of people.
- 1:10:24Yeah.
- 1:10:24So you can multiply the amount-
- 1:10:27of folks between you- I had a thought … and the thing.
- 1:10:29I had a thought earlier.
- 1:10:31The entity is an excellent MLM
- 1:10:38Hey, girl.
- 1:10:39Haven't seen you in a while.
- 1:10:40I know, yeah.
- 1:10:42You wanna try my plexus?
- 1:10:45And then I forgot to say that, and then you said, like,
- 1:10:49"It's just multiplying." Yeah.
- 1:10:50It's a pyramid scheme.
- 1:10:51It's, it's not a pyramid.
- 1:10:53It's a triangle.
- 1:10:56You start with, you have one friend- … and then that one friend
- 1:10:59makes two other friends, and then each of their friends makes two friends.
- 1:11:02Yeah.
- 1:11:03I mean, that's what I don't understand.
- 1:11:05He could have- Yeah … he could have passed it on.
- 1:11:08But okay, so but did he?
- 1:11:09I don't, w- we don't- I don't think he- We don't know if he did … did.
- 1:11:12I guess we don't know because you can… I think he didn't because- Because of
- 1:11:15where it is … if we're to believe that the thing behind them at the end was
- 1:11:19the cheese touch, it was following them.
- 1:11:22So it really only follows you- Yeah … if you're the one on focus.
- 1:11:26So I assumed he was where it had ended.
- 1:11:28So now that they're a couple, they're an item.
- 1:11:31Yeah.
- 1:11:32And do they just pass it back and forth?
- 1:11:34Is that how that works?
- 1:11:36Oh, I don't know.
- 1:11:38You know what I mean?
- 1:11:38So then it's like, h- how do you even know who- Who's-
- 1:11:41who's it?
- 1:11:41… number one?
- 1:11:42Yeah.
- 1:11:42You know?
- 1:11:43It's like playing tag, but with blindfolds.
- 1:11:45Yeah.
- 1:11:46Oh, wow.
- 1:11:47I did not think about that.
- 1:11:48Tag with no tag backs.
- 1:11:49Yeah.
- 1:11:49That's such an interesting concept.
- 1:11:52I don't know.
- 1:11:53Maybe we'll find out in the sequel.
- 1:11:55Can you believe- They, the se- They're making a sequel … oh yeah.
- 1:11:57It's coming out next year.
- 1:11:58It's called They Follow.
- 1:11:59Oh my God.
- 1:12:00Is it the same people at least?
- 1:12:01It's the same girl.
- 1:12:03Same people- She's like, I'm good now … same director, same all, everything.
- 1:12:05Oh, so she's gone to acting school.
- 1:12:08Well, she's had 12 years.
- 1:12:09Yeah.
- 1:12:10That- 12, 12 years to… That'd be interesting to see how, how she's
- 1:12:13handled this for the last 12 years.
- 1:12:15Yeah.
- 1:12:15I mean- I just- … I think she did well … I just wanna know, kinda like
- 1:12:19what you guys were saying earlier, what, what are, you know, like,
- 1:12:23what's the origin of this thing?
- 1:12:24Yeah.
- 1:12:24How does it work?
- 1:12:25What, like, I just wanna know more about the, the thing.
- 1:12:27I'm not super pumped about this movie, but- there's a part of me that's curious
- 1:12:31about- They Follow … like, what, if they show any more as far as, like, what is
- 1:12:36this entity and how do they deal with it?
- 1:12:37I feel like you have to.
- 1:12:38You, I don't think what they did could sustain itself for another whole
- 1:12:41film, just of like, oh, one person.
- 1:12:45Well, but see, it's They Follow, so maybe it's more than one that's following.
- 1:12:49I guess that's true.
- 1:12:50Mm. Now they're getting followed by multiple.
- 1:12:53I don't know if that's what it is.
- 1:12:54I haven't even- I don't know … I, I halfway watched the trailer.
- 1:12:56Uh, so- I didn't even see the trailer … club rules.
- 1:12:59Yeah.
- 1:12:59Um, for me, I'm gonna go with, uh, keep it in your pants.
- 1:13:03Yep.
- 1:13:03No ringy, no dingy.
- 1:13:04Period.
- 1:13:09I could not have predicted a single word that was gonna come out of your mouth.
- 1:13:12Just that no ringy, no dingy.
- 1:13:15Yeah.
- 1:13:15And then you- You never heard that?
- 1:13:17No.
- 1:13:17Oh.
- 1:13:19No, that's hilarious, though.
- 1:13:20Have you never heard that?
- 1:13:21Where'd you get that from?
- 1:13:22I have never heard that, but I'm glad I did tonight.
- 1:13:23I thought it was a common saying.
- 1:13:26How about that?
- 1:13:27So and then, you know, point your guns in a safe direction.
- 1:13:30Yeah.
- 1:13:31And finally, invest in bars on your windows.
- 1:13:34Huh?
- 1:13:36Yeah?
- 1:13:37You think that would've stopped it?
- 1:13:37Maybe.
- 1:13:37I mean, so they can't… 'Cause they can't just open a door.
- 1:13:41It's got problems with doors.
- 1:13:41Yeah, it can't open a door.
- 1:13:42It can bust a window and go through.
- 1:13:44It can climb on the roof.
- 1:13:45But- What is it with these creatures not being able to go through a door?
- 1:13:49I know.
- 1:13:49It is kinda like the thing in the pantry.
- 1:13:51Yeah.
- 1:13:53So yeah.
- 1:13:53Hmm.
- 1:13:54Yeah, I just had don't do the deed.
- 1:13:56Yeah.
- 1:13:59I mean, it just, I- that's pretty much the rules.
- 1:14:03Man, you know what, though- I mean, he gave her the rules once you
- 1:14:05have it, once you've gotten it.
- 1:14:08Yeah.
- 1:14:08Don't, you know, like, don't go in a room that doesn't have-
- 1:14:12Only one exit … another exit.
- 1:14:14He said a couple of things, but I'm like he gave you the roadmap to survival.
- 1:14:19He did, yeah.
- 1:14:19'Cause he need you to survive- Yeah … so that he can survive.
- 1:14:23And I don't understand why she did not just- Oh … pass it along.
- 1:14:27I wonder, it's like, he thinks that she's loose, loosey-goosey, 'cause
- 1:14:31he was like, "Oh, she'll pass it on." But my question is, like, she m- she
- 1:14:37made him wait more than one date.
- 1:14:39So w- is that the person you wanna pass it on to?
- 1:14:43You know she's a slower mover than you want to be.
- 1:14:47That's a good point.
- 1:14:48Wouldn't you think you w- like, there are a lot of people out there-
- 1:14:52who treat that like- It's no big deal … sharing some McDonald's fries.
- 1:14:58Like, it is no big deal.
- 1:14:59You're right.
- 1:15:00Find that person.
- 1:15:01Right.
- 1:15:01They can't be- 'cause there are folks out there who are a desperate-
- 1:15:04Yeah … and will with anybody.
- 1:15:07Yeah, you're right.
- 1:15:11He could've gotten on Craigslist.
- 1:15:11Look for those people.
- 1:15:13I don't, this is not related- Craigslist
- 1:15:14to a dumb decision, but when Greg got it, and then it showed that,
- 1:15:19um, that clip of him at, like, the cafeteria with that girl, and you,
- 1:15:24like, assumed he was, like, putting the moves on her so he could- Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:28He was close talking to her with a mouth full of burger.
- 1:15:33Mm. Like, just chomping on a burger and he was- Being too casual
- 1:15:35right in her ear.
- 1:15:36I'm like, "You're, that is not, that's not hot. Get out." That's
- 1:15:41not, you're not, you're not getting what you want like that.
- 1:15:44Hey, speaking, speaking of Greg- Yeah … I told you this, but-
- 1:15:47Mm-hmm … did you watch, is it, what is it called, Woman of the Hour?
- 1:15:50Yes, with Anna Kendrick.
- 1:15:51Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:52I did actually.
- 1:15:52He was the, uh- The guy … dating sh- dating game.
- 1:15:55What do they call it?
- 1:15:56Dating game killer?
- 1:15:57Yep.
- 1:15:57Something like that.
- 1:15:58Dating show.
- 1:15:59Dating show killer.
- 1:15:59Was he really?
- 1:16:00Yeah.
- 1:16:00That was the same actor.
- 1:16:02He was in that movie.
- 1:16:04Was he the main guy?
- 1:16:05Mm-hmm.
- 1:16:05He was the evil guy?
- 1:16:06Yep.
- 1:16:06And so, like, after he said it, I could see it.
- 1:16:09Oh.
- 1:16:09And I was like, oh, yeah, he was getting s- Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 1:16:12Yeah.
- 1:16:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:13Anyway, just found that.
- 1:16:14That movie was good.
- 1:16:15That was a good movie.
- 1:16:15Yeah, really enjoyed that one.
- 1:16:16That story is insane.
- 1:16:18Anna Kendrick did a great job.
- 1:16:19Yeah.
- 1:16:19Yeah.
- 1:16:20The anxiety I got watching that when she's, like, walking through the
- 1:16:22parking lot after she, like- Yes
- 1:16:23says, like, "I'm not going anywhere with you," and he's like, "I'm
- 1:16:25gonna bash your freaking head in." Oh my gosh, that's- Tense … yeah.
- 1:16:29Um, no, what I thought you were gonna say was that Hugh was
- 1:16:33the bully in the Fred movies.
- 1:16:36Did you ever watch Fred?
- 1:16:37You probably didn't.
- 1:16:38I never watched the Fred movies.
- 1:16:38Fred, like the annoying little guy on- Yeah
- 1:16:40YouTube Fred.
- 1:16:41Yes.
- 1:16:41I never watched those movies.
- 1:16:42I'm gonna be honest with you, I've, I've never even heard of it.
- 1:16:44Oh, you're not- Oh, you would hate it … you're not your niche … it's
- 1:16:45not your kind of humor at all.
- 1:16:47It is kind of funny, though.
- 1:16:48I mean, I thought it was funny at the time.
- 1:16:50Anyway so would you survive?
- 1:16:54I think I definitely would.
- 1:16:56I was a prude.
- 1:16:57Yeah.
- 1:16:58Yeah.
- 1:16:58So I think there are two ways to approach this.
- 1:17:01Okay.
- 1:17:01One, I think we can all safely say that, yes, we would survive.
- 1:17:07Yeah.
- 1:17:07Right.
- 1:17:07It's just not a position we would be in- … by nature of the way we live our lives.
- 1:17:12But if we flip the coin and we say, okay, parallel universe- Mm-hmm
- 1:17:19let's say that we did get caught in this predicament- … and this entity
- 1:17:22is after you, would you survive?
- 1:17:25And what would you do to try and deal with it?
- 1:17:28I would not survive.
- 1:17:28So at that point, I think you have to… Uh, I don't know if I could,
- 1:17:35but you have to consider of like, okay, the same… We talk about these
- 1:17:39people like they're terrible, right?
- 1:17:40People who have some sort of communicable disease, and they purposefully give
- 1:17:45it to other people 'cause they're mad that they have it, right?
- 1:17:47It's kind of like that when… 'Cause I was terrified of going to the movies.
- 1:17:52I don't know if y'all heard this.
- 1:17:53Like, I was so scared of going to the movies as a kid or, like, young
- 1:17:58teen because I heard of people who had HIV putting needles in the movie
- 1:18:05seats, contaminated with their blood-
- 1:18:09knowing that they had it so they would give it to other people.
- 1:18:12No, I've never- And you're like, gosh, that takes a special kind of evil.
- 1:18:14You don't even know this person, and you're just, like, trying to
- 1:18:16pass it on 'cause you're, you're angry and upset 'cause you have it.
- 1:18:20And so I've always, like, thought of those people, like,
- 1:18:23what a monster you have to be.
- 1:18:25But- I think that's a myth though, right?
- 1:18:26… in that situation… I don't know.
- 1:18:28Yeah, I think that's a myth.
- 1:18:29I don't know if it's an urban legend or if it's true.
- 1:18:30Yeah, it's urban.
- 1:18:31It's, I'm pretty sure it's an urban… I'll, I'll check later, but I'm
- 1:18:33pretty sure it's an urban legend.
- 1:18:34But I used to feel around every movie theater seat- Mm
- 1:18:39very carefully before I sat down.
- 1:18:40Mm. Um, and so in that situation, it's not like passing it on cures you.
- 1:18:48You know, in this one- Right, right … at least you get some kind of relief if
- 1:18:51you pa- It's not like, oh, I'm cured of insert STD here once I give it to you.
- 1:18:58It's, that's not how it works.
- 1:19:00That's not how science goes.
- 1:19:01But, like, in this situation, you would have to just become okay
- 1:19:04with I've doomed somebody else.
- 1:19:08Yeah, someone else is gonna die.
- 1:19:09Yeah.
- 1:19:10I have a hard time killing, like, an ant.
- 1:19:12So I don't think I'd… Yeah, I'd be, I'd be cooked.
- 1:19:16Yeah, I think, and especially after coming to the realization that this thing
- 1:19:20can actually think- because at first my plan to deal with it was to walk it
- 1:19:26into a jail cell and then lock it up.
- 1:19:28Oh, that's really smart.
- 1:19:30But- You are s- your mind is insane.
- 1:19:33But here's the thing, though.
- 1:19:34They tried to get it to go into the pool and it wouldn't, and so now I'm
- 1:19:37thinking- Yeah … it would probably see the- It's like a problem solve
- 1:19:39the jail cell and be like, "Nah, I'm not going in there. I know what you're
- 1:19:42trying to do." Mm. And so on that note, I would say no, it wouldn't survive.
- 1:19:47I think- 'Cause you could not smart it … I think I could, I think I could
- 1:19:50buy time, but you'd always be on the run.
- 1:19:52I think you would have to, you'd have to meticulously ma- map out, like,
- 1:19:55okay, well, how long does it take to walk from, say, California to New York?
- 1:19:59And then just- Yeah … go back and forth between the two
- 1:20:01places, but then how do you live?
- 1:20:03You could drive.
- 1:20:04You could drive, but then- You could drive away from it … but then also, you
- 1:20:07know, you have to have a… Yeah, you'd pretty much have to live in your car.
- 1:20:09Yeah.
- 1:20:10'Cause you can… You know, unless you had- Well, clearly you can sleep- Money
- 1:20:13on top of it and you're fine.
- 1:20:14Yeah.
- 1:20:15Well, if you drive far enough away, yeah.
- 1:20:16If you drive far enough that it can't get you and that, that- She was, like,
- 1:20:18a couple blocks away in the forest and just woke up the next morning
- 1:20:23like it was a regular degular day.
- 1:20:25Well, he was living in the city- Mm-hmm … like, that she was in.
- 1:20:28It was, like- Yeah … taking his time to date this, to date her.
- 1:20:32Yeah, so I don't, I don't know.
- 1:20:33I think, I think I would… The reason I put that I would
- 1:20:35not survive is I think I would eventually just get tired of running.
- 1:20:38Yeah.
- 1:20:39Yeah.
- 1:20:39And then- No … you know, 'cause if there, if there truly is no way
- 1:20:42to either trap it or kill it or do anything and you're just always on
- 1:20:47the run, then it's just like, oh.
- 1:20:49'Cause you wouldn't pass it along?
- 1:20:50No.
- 1:20:52I wonder if eventually it would, like, die out.
- 1:20:55Like, if it- Oh, if enough people- … tracked- Well, yeah, 'cause you don't
- 1:20:59know how far back it goes, though.
- 1:21:00Yeah.
- 1:21:00That's the thing we don't know.
- 1:21:00Like, it could be- Those people could already have died … thousands of people.
- 1:21:03Well, yeah.
- 1:21:03Yeah.
- 1:21:03Yeah.
- 1:21:04'Cause if everybody who's alive, it gets them.
- 1:21:07What happens then?
- 1:21:08You'd have to have a lot of people agree to just take one for the team.
- 1:21:15To figure that out.
- 1:21:16Yikes.
- 1:21:18Hmm.
- 1:21:18That's an interesting way to think about it, Mark.
- 1:21:22So one way I would survive, and then the other way, no, I wouldn't- Why?
- 1:21:24'cause I wouldn't be able to pass it on.
- 1:21:26I think I'd feel too guilty for my whole life.
- 1:21:28Well, no, what's- you'd still see it.
- 1:21:30Yeah, and the anxiety of like never being able to fully rest because it's not like
- 1:21:34you're gonna keep up with those people.
- 1:21:36Mm-hmm.
- 1:21:37You know?
- 1:21:37Mm-hmm.
- 1:21:37Like, you're gonna wanna try to like get awa- like, as far away as possible.
- 1:21:40Yeah.
- 1:21:41And maybe that's why people give it to people in their town, 'cause I'm thinking
- 1:21:44also, what if you fly to… Like say, what if you have it and you just go to Vegas
- 1:21:50or somewhere where people are just out and about all the time, and you just, boop,
- 1:21:54pass it on, and then try and get them to pass it, and then you go back home.
- 1:21:58It's far away from you.
- 1:21:59Like, all we ever saw was people who were, like geographically close.
- 1:22:03So it's physically nearby and you see it following other people,
- 1:22:08but it- are you the only ones?
- 1:22:10Are there multiple versions of this in different cities?
- 1:22:12Oh.
- 1:22:12Or is it the only one?
- 1:22:14Yeah.
- 1:22:15Maybe we'll get that answer in They Follow.
- 1:22:17Maybe we will.
- 1:22:18Okay, so, a fun segment.
- 1:22:22Monster Smash or Pass.
- 1:22:23And as we've been talking about this, I actually had
- 1:22:26another one that came to mind.
- 1:22:27Okay.
- 1:22:27So, you know, I always try to do, like, a little bit of both.
- 1:22:33So if you were to smash, you might get super fit being in this relationship
- 1:22:39from the constant running away
- 1:22:44But- I'm a stress eater though, so I mean- Well, all, I mean, it would be
- 1:22:49like I would run- You can eat, run
- 1:22:50run three miles- Yeah … and then eat a Big Mac to calm myself down maybe.
- 1:22:54I don't know.
- 1:22:54Oh, yeah.
- 1:22:55But the problem is if you opt for smash, if it gets close to you, it kills you.
- 1:23:03If it gets within- Oh … reach of you.
- 1:23:05Yeah, that's true.
- 1:23:06So the, the- There is- … smashing is the problem.
- 1:23:08Yeah.
- 1:23:08That is true.
- 1:23:08So there really is no smash for this.
- 1:23:10I think you, it's pass or- It's alwa- it's just pass.
- 1:23:12Die.
- 1:23:13Yeah.
- 1:23:14Huh.
- 1:23:14Pass or die.
- 1:23:15The thought that I also had was, like, you would rack up some serious travel points.
- 1:23:19You would.
- 1:23:20Oh, yeah.
- 1:23:21Or a lot of miles on your car.
- 1:23:23Yeah.
- 1:23:23Which is- No, that's, that's a great point … also bad.
- 1:23:26Flying and getting extra points.
- 1:23:28Yeah.
- 1:23:28You would get so many points.
- 1:23:29So many points.
- 1:23:30Eventually you could- You would probably- … go first class.
- 1:23:32Yeah.
- 1:23:32Probably, yeah.
- 1:23:33And I mean, like, you know, you could fly from, like, California to
- 1:23:36New York City probably by yourself.
- 1:23:39Double points too.
- 1:23:39Double, double points.
- 1:23:40I would, I would pa- go ahead and pay the extra few bucks for double points.
- 1:23:42Yeah.
- 1:23:43Rack 'em up.
- 1:23:44And then just back and forth, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing.
- 1:23:46Yeah.
- 1:23:47It's not like it could, I mean, unless it can, like you said- However-
- 1:23:49… teleport onto the airplane, then- If it gets on the plane, then you're
- 1:23:52in trouble … then you're screwed.
- 1:23:53Yeah.
- 1:23:53Oh, yeah, you're in a lot of trouble then.
- 1:23:54Oh, my god.
- 1:23:55That would not- You're, you're gonna join the Mile High club
- 1:23:56could you imagine?
- 1:23:57Been to where- Could you imagine?
- 1:23:57In a way.
- 1:23:58You're just trying, you're with your family, you're
- 1:24:00trying to fly to Hawaii, right?
- 1:24:02With your kids, and all of a sudden- And that scene where, yeah, and
- 1:24:07what happens to Greg happens to somebody in, seat, A- … three.
- 1:24:11Like, what?
- 1:24:11And then what happens, like, when they're dead, like, does,
- 1:24:14you'd, don't see the entity- Right
- 1:24:16but then it just poof.
- 1:24:18Oh, I guess that's true.
- 1:24:18And then you would, like- You wouldn't see what happened … am I next?
- 1:24:21What's gonna happen to me?
- 1:24:23And then your kids have seen that, and you're just trying to go to Hawaii.
- 1:24:27Terrible.
- 1:24:28Wow.
- 1:24:29Yeah, that would ruin the vacation- That would ru- … for sure.
- 1:24:32Yeah, you come back just, like, you're just like…
- 1:24:36But you would probably just think somebody, like, had a
- 1:24:39medical event on the plane.
- 1:24:42Contortionist went wrong.
- 1:24:43Well, yeah, if it gets, like, that little girl at the beginning and
- 1:24:46their leg just, like, pops off in the wrong direction, that'd be bad.
- 1:24:49But Greg- Oh, he never- … he probably just looked like he had a seizure.
- 1:24:54I thought it, like, also mutilated him.
- 1:24:56Did it?
- 1:24:56Yeah, let's see if we can find that.
- 1:24:57I was quite distracted by the other things that were happening-
- 1:24:59Yeah … so it definitely could have.
- 1:25:01Yeah, let's see if I can quickly find it
- 1:25:04Can I please?
- 1:25:11You know what happened?
- 1:25:14Yeah?
- 1:25:14I don't even- I'm not gonna help you find it … I was so thrown off by what
- 1:25:24Is this your notes, your, your- No.
- 1:25:27You know how we're saying that the, they're always listening, right?
- 1:25:33That's a thing that people say.
- 1:25:34You know, like the- Oh … the, uh, the devices are always listening.
- 1:25:37They do.
- 1:25:38So I have, um, Google pulled up, and I have the whole time we've been
- 1:25:44talking- Yeah … just in case I need to look up something real quickly.
- 1:25:48So I was gonna look up, I type in, started to type in, "Did Greg get
- 1:25:51mutilated in It Follows?" I got to, "Did Greg get," and please tell me why the
- 1:25:57first search choice, like auto-complete, is, "Did Greg get the cheese touch?"
- 1:26:04I'm not lying to you
- 1:26:06That, I wonder if Greg is a character in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid
- 1:26:12Okay.
- 1:26:12That would make so much- That, okay … sense That would make, that would make me
- 1:26:15feel a lot better I would've freaked out.
- 1:26:17That's crazy.
- 1:26:20Yes, Greg Heffley is- Oh, okay … the main character and narrator of The
- 1:26:24Diary of a- Okay … Wimpy Kid.
- 1:26:25Okay.
- 1:26:26Okay.
- 1:26:26'Cause I als- I would've crapped my pants- … right here.
- 1:26:32Yeah, I was about let's shut it all, turn it all off.
- 1:26:34Yeah, it's done.
- 1:26:35We're done.
- 1:26:35It's done.
- 1:26:35The podcast is over.
- 1:26:37Slender Man is real.
- 1:26:39Okay.
- 1:26:41Wowee.
- 1:26:41He got that cheese touch.
- 1:26:43That is, that was freaky.
- 1:26:45The coincidence though is insane.
- 1:26:46Yeah, for real.
- 1:26:48Okay, well- Synchronicities Well, that mystery is solved, well, I think what's
- 1:26:51also been solved is that the director and writer, whoever it was, definitely
- 1:26:56watched Dia- Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
- 1:26:57Oh, yeah, I think they're a big fan probably.
- 1:26:59That's where he got the idea.
- 1:27:00'Cause cheese touch, it's definitely similar.
- 1:27:03Was- His name is Greg His name is Greg.
- 1:27:05Yeah.
- 1:27:05It's, that's enough for me.
- 1:27:07I'm Old Gregg.
- 1:27:11Didn't you say you had to like explain like who that was to
- 1:27:13somebody at work the other day?
- 1:27:14Yes, my coworker, firstly, my Gen X coworker had never seen it.
- 1:27:18Which that doesn't surprise me.
- 1:27:20My Gen, what, what's the one under us?
- 1:27:24Z?
- 1:27:24Z?
- 1:27:25I don't even know.
- 1:27:27Or she might be like a young, young millennial, like maybe the, the back
- 1:27:31end of millennial dates, but like she had never seen it either, and she was
- 1:27:38like, "Beth, what the heck is that?"
- 1:27:42And, um, she said, "Oh, yeah, I should've figured it," I think
- 1:27:45she called it a millennial thing.
- 1:27:46She said, "I should've figured it would be a millennial thing." That's rude.
- 1:27:50And I was like- That's rude … "Wow." Is that how it feels when people
- 1:27:54like when like how boomers feel when we're like, "Okay, boomer"?
- 1:27:58Maybe.
- 1:27:58Do you ever say that?
- 1:27:59Yeah, I have before.
- 1:28:00I said that the other day walking outside of work, and I instantly
- 1:28:04regretted it because there definitely was someone who would've definitely
- 1:28:07been a boomer like walking in front of me- … and I was like, "I'm so
- 1:28:11sorry." Well, I usually have said it, Mark is kind of a papaw sometimes.
- 1:28:15I thought you were about to say, "Well, Mark's a boomer." No,
- 1:28:17but he acts like one sometimes.
- 1:28:18Some- well, sometimes I act like a boomer, yes.
- 1:28:19And so like- For sure … if there's somebody who's clearly not a boomer, but
- 1:28:22they're acting- … like super stodgy or whatever, I'm like, "Okay, boomer,"
- 1:28:27or like they'll say something that's they have no knowledge of technology
- 1:28:31or whatever, but like I've only said it like maybe twice, but I don't know
- 1:28:35why people react to it like you really just cut somebody deep, like, "Ooh."
- 1:28:41Like, what?
- 1:28:41That's not even that big a deal.
- 1:28:44Like you could say that to me if I did something old lady like.
- 1:28:47I have mamaw tendencies.
- 1:28:49Yeah.
- 1:28:50And I wouldn't get like super- Would you be like, "You're right"?
- 1:28:53… upset.
- 1:28:53I'd be like, "Yeah, absolutely. Give me my crochet." Absolutely.
- 1:28:58Breaking my hip.
- 1:28:59Listen, I wouldn't put it past myself.
- 1:29:03I'm a clumsy girl.
- 1:29:04Oh, man.
- 1:29:05I love it.
- 1:29:06Okay.
- 1:29:07All right, so does it join the club?
- 1:29:11Yeah, I could- I- … I could do without it … hated this movie.
- 1:29:14I did not get the hype.
- 1:29:16Yeah, I'm, I'm gonna have to say no as well which- Wow,
- 1:29:19this has not happened yet.
- 1:29:21It's the first.
- 1:29:21I mean, it's, it's our fifth episode- Yeah, it is … but like-
- 1:29:23It's the first, it's the first one that we've, we've all dec- Yeah
- 1:29:25unanimously decided- No … I mean, we've all, we've all agreed on all
- 1:29:28of them so far that they do belong.
- 1:29:30Not particularly, no.
- 1:29:31We did not all agree on Alien.
- 1:29:32Beth was the outlier.
- 1:29:33Oh, I thought we won her, won her over.
- 1:29:34You won me over.
- 1:29:35I agreed that it was a classic and how somebody would want it on the- Yeah.
- 1:29:39Okay.
- 1:29:40Yeah.
- 1:29:40All right.
- 1:29:40All r- I'll give you that.
- 1:29:41All right.
- 1:29:42Yeah, this one I feel like there is a lot of potential.
- 1:29:44I will say this, if they can pull an Insidious II on this, on the sequel,
- 1:29:51perhaps they could win me over.
- 1:29:53But I don't know.
- 1:29:54We'll see.
- 1:29:54Pull an Insidious II.
- 1:29:56That one scene definitely, that one scene definitely takes a
- 1:29:58lot away from me, so- For sure
- 1:30:01you know, I, I don't know if I'll ever be able to come to grips with that, but- Yeah
- 1:30:05… no, so Insidious II, like, if you take Insi- I've… You've seen those, right?
- 1:30:08Uh, it's been a long time.
- 1:30:10Oh.
- 1:30:11So- They're so good … yeah, and so- I think those are on the list … Insidious
- 1:30:13I was really good, but then when in s- in my opinion, when Insidious
- 1:30:16II came out and it was, like, kinda weaving in and out of the scenes
- 1:30:21from- Oh, I see what you're saying
- 1:30:22Insidious I, and made Insidious I even better- Oh … because then
- 1:30:27you could see this other side of what was going on during that time.
- 1:30:31Yeah.
- 1:30:31So I was just thinking, with this movie, you know, maybe if they explain the
- 1:30:35people that they saw, for example, in this one, if they made that make sense.
- 1:30:39Yeah.
- 1:30:39Maybe if there was something to that, maybe that would be something.
- 1:30:42I doubt they will.
- 1:30:44Mm. I'm not… My hopes are not high on this one.
- 1:30:46Yeah.
- 1:30:47But that would be the one, the one thing they could do is try to make
- 1:30:50sense of a lot of what happened, so.
- 1:30:53Yeah.
- 1:30:54I guess we'll find out.
- 1:30:55Yeah.
- 1:30:57All right.
- 1:30:57This was a fun episode.
- 1:30:58Oh, I did wanna add, this currently sits at number 31 on Rotten
- 1:31:02Tomatoes top 200 best horror movies.
- 1:31:05Yeah, it had a good score.
- 1:31:07Like nine, like 90s.
- 1:31:08Yeah.
- 1:31:09But so did, um… We watched something not long ago that had a really good score And
- 1:31:14I don't think it was for the podcasting.
- 1:31:16It was just personal stuff, and it was, like, in the '90s, and
- 1:31:18I was like- … who rated this?
- 1:31:20One person, and they enjoyed it?
- 1:31:22I don't know, 'cause I can't imagine a lot of people were giving it good reviews.
- 1:31:26Yeah.
- 1:31:26I can almost see it and I actually did not finish it.
- 1:31:29You finished it.
- 1:31:30Oh, yeah.
- 1:31:31'Cause I was like- That's right … this is so bad, and
- 1:31:34I went and did something else.
- 1:31:35Yeah, I can't remember what it was, but I'm- Yeah, it was bad … I've
- 1:31:37gotten to where I don't trust the Rotten Tomatoes scores.
- 1:31:40Yeah.
- 1:31:41At all.
- 1:31:42Um, anyway, all right, so last part, we will do the spinny wheel of death to
- 1:31:47figure out what we are watching next time, and this one landed on, oh, Session 9,
- 1:31:57question mark?
- 1:31:58Okay.
- 1:31:58I have, I have- Why do I feel like I know that movie?
- 1:32:00… I've seen that one before.
- 1:32:01Why do I feel like it's, like, a found tapes?
- 1:32:05I don't know.
- 1:32:05It does sound like maybe… What's, there's, like, a- There's a Case 39.
- 1:32:10Okay.
- 1:32:11A Case something movie.
- 1:32:11Maybe that's it, I'm thinking.
- 1:32:14But I don't know.
- 1:32:15All right, well- We'll see
- 1:32:16I think it came out in, like, 2001.
- 1:32:19Okay.
- 1:32:20Ooh.
- 1:32:20So we'll have to see, like, where it can be streamed.
- 1:32:24But we'll put that on our social medias if we find it- Yes,
- 1:32:27yes … where you can watch it.
- 1:32:28Yes.
- 1:32:29Okay, well, thanks for joining.
- 1:32:30We hope that you guys enjoyed this episode.

- 1:32:40it, and we're having a really fun time.
