- 0:03Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
- 0:07Speaker 1: Lazar and Alex Bars and Lazarre.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Hello, everybody nailed it. Joined as always here is Evan
- 0:18Speaker 2: Lazar and Alex Bars. I don't know if these guys
- 0:21Speaker 2: are truly playmakers, like what I call this demo playmaker.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I think Formandre and dobbson the potential. So do you
- 0:28Speaker 2: think more so than Henderson?
- 0:29Speaker 1: I mean define playmakers a big play threat or like
- 0:32Speaker 1: consistent volume. You know that's the question, right, Like Henderson's
- 0:36Speaker 1: a big play threat, but he's not a consistent He's
- 0:39Speaker 1: not a guy that consistently makes plays.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Brought me a Dobs is.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Somebody I think could be in the you know, one
- 0:43Speaker 1: hundred catch range this year, so that's pretty consistently making plays.
- 0:47Speaker 2: But he's not somebody i'd consider like game breakers. And
- 0:50Speaker 2: I think you need both.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I think you can't only have guys that are chain
- 0:54Speaker 1: movers and guys that are consistent down to down but
- 0:58Speaker 1: not big play threats. I don't think you can and
- 1:00Speaker 1: you have big play threats either, Alex.
- 1:06Speaker 2: We've got a lot of comments on that discussion, happy
- 1:10Speaker 2: about that. That's why we do those exercises, is to
- 1:14Speaker 2: get people into the show and involved and fired up.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And that's the point. That's the point of having a
- 1:22Speaker 2: radio show is to get people involved in the conversation.
- 1:26Speaker 2: But I will say this, the one comment that I saw,
- 1:29Speaker 2: and it's Alex, it's Alex behind the glass, it's Evan
- 1:32Speaker 2: Lazarre Patriots catch twenty two. The one thing I will
- 1:36Speaker 2: say is that Drake May cannot count as the quarterback
- 1:40Speaker 2: and a playmaker. Yes, it is a separate thing. He
- 1:44Speaker 2: is a playmaker, but we already gave them the box
- 1:47Speaker 2: checked that quarterback. Because they have Drake May. He can't
- 1:50Speaker 2: count as both.
- 1:51Speaker 1: The idea is talent around him.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, I saw a lot of comments that were like, well,
- 1:56Speaker 2: Drake May is a playmaker, that's one, and it's like, no,
- 1:58Speaker 2: he's the quarterback. The playmakers are your wide receivers, your
- 2:02Speaker 2: tight ends, your running backs. We talked a little bit
- 2:04Speaker 2: about this yesterday on PU. I don't know if you
- 2:07Speaker 2: saw Bill Barnwell's list, but Bill Barnwell had the Patriots
- 2:10Speaker 2: with the tenth best skill group in the NFL, so
- 2:14Speaker 2: wide receivers, running backs, tight ends.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I think it was tenth best in the NFL. Weren't
- 2:18Speaker 1: they second in the AFC.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I didn't look at the list that way, but there
- 2:22Speaker 2: was one.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It was the Barnwell one. There was one I saw
- 2:24Speaker 1: where the Patriots ranked tenth but second in the AFC.
- 2:26Speaker 2: So they had the tenth best skill group in the NFL.
- 2:29Speaker 2: And I just thought it was interesting that it came
- 2:32Speaker 2: out right off the heels of us doing that exercise
- 2:34Speaker 2: last week. It was pretty notable as we were going
- 2:36Speaker 2: back and forth on the playmaker category. The one thing
- 2:40Speaker 2: that Barnwell well two things. If you look at where
- 2:44Speaker 2: they were the previous two years, I think it was
- 2:46Speaker 2: thirtieth and thirty first in his rankings, and then you
- 2:49Speaker 2: go it's all obviously Drake May's career so far, thirty first, thirtieth, tenth.
- 2:55Speaker 2: That just shows the roster improvement that they've had year
- 2:58Speaker 2: over year, which I think is impressive. And he also
- 3:01Speaker 2: just talked about how deep they are now at wide receiver,
- 3:04Speaker 2: and I think that's that's a good shout they've They've
- 3:07Speaker 2: really become one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in football.
- 3:11Speaker 2: We'll see if they maintain all that depth with Kishan
- 3:13Speaker 2: Booty and we'll get to that sort of stuff. But anyways,
- 3:17Speaker 2: I thought that was notable and we can continue that
- 3:19Speaker 2: discussion of you guys still have opinions on that as well.
- 3:23Speaker 2: But today for today's exercise. On today's show, I wanted
- 3:27Speaker 2: to do QB tiars. So I ranked all thirty two
- 3:32Speaker 2: starting quarterback situations. Because some teams have competitions uncertainty, who's
- 3:37Speaker 2: going to start? All thirty two? I put them into
- 3:40Speaker 2: my tiers. You know how I like to tiers things.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I don't like to rank things. I like to tier them.
- 3:45Speaker 2: So I have one, two, three, four, five, six tiers.
- 3:53Speaker 2: So starting I want to start from the bottom and
- 3:55Speaker 2: work our way up to build the suspense of where
- 3:59Speaker 2: I have. Drake may so I have the lowest one.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I have the lowest tier. Alex Is you need a
- 4:07Speaker 2: new quarterback, just you need a new quarterback, not the guy,
- 4:11Speaker 2: not the guy, not the long term answer. I then
- 4:14Speaker 2: have too soon, like these are rookies or second year
- 4:17Speaker 2: guys where it's just too soon to tell if they're
- 4:19Speaker 2: they're the guy or not. I have the fraud Watch category,
- 4:23Speaker 2: which is my personal favorite category. These are guys that
- 4:26Speaker 2: have had some success in the NFL but are on
- 4:28Speaker 2: fraud Watch. They might be for various reasons. I have
- 4:33Speaker 2: another category that I would say is like the middle
- 4:35Speaker 2: class and it's just yeah, sure, like I'm not. I'm
- 4:39Speaker 2: not blown away. I'm not. I have an elite franchise.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Quarter starting quack starting yes, sure that category.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Then we get into what I would call the great
- 4:50Speaker 2: have an argument for top ten category, and then the
- 4:52Speaker 2: elite category. So those are my categories for these quarterbacks.
- 4:57Speaker 2: We're also going to do some NFL over unders. We've
- 4:59Speaker 2: been going through the League of the AFC East, most
- 5:02Speaker 2: more specifically over the last couple of weeks, so I
- 5:05Speaker 2: pulled a bunch of win total over unders for the
- 5:09Speaker 2: teams in the AFC, not just the AFC East, but
- 5:11Speaker 2: also the other contenders, if you will, in the AFC.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I want to discuss with Alex if we think that
- 5:17Speaker 2: those teams are going to go over or under their
- 5:20Speaker 2: win totals. So that's the agenda for today. Your calls
- 5:22Speaker 2: and emails obviously as well at podcasts at Patriots dot
- 5:26Speaker 2: com and a five to five Pats five hundred. We
- 5:29Speaker 2: also had and we can maybe get into this in
- 5:31Speaker 2: the second hour. We had a very spirited Celtics discussion
- 5:35Speaker 2: just now with Paul and No Socks in the in
- 5:40Speaker 2: the green room if you will, you know, down the
- 5:43Speaker 2: hall here, very spirited discussion, good basketball talk where we
- 5:50Speaker 2: probably should have recorded that. I don't know. There's a
- 5:51Speaker 2: lot of yelling that might have been bad radio maybe.
- 5:55Speaker 2: But in the second hour of the show, if you
- 5:56Speaker 2: want to talk Celtics, you want to talk World Cup, USA,
- 6:01Speaker 2: Bozia Herskovina tonight, uh, then we can talk that as well.
- 6:05Speaker 2: If you want to go uh, you know, non football too.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But let's start with these QB tiers. So here's I
- 6:12Speaker 2: was started at the bottom and then work my way up.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So this is my you need a new quarterback tier.
- 6:18Speaker 2: These guys, in my opinion, are not the answer. So
- 6:21Speaker 2: Malik Willis in Miami, Gino Smith with the Jets, right,
- 6:25Speaker 2: those are not long term answers right by any means.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I wrote down to Shaun Watson for the Browns because
- 6:30Speaker 2: I think that they're actually gonna give him.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I think we could just say Browns whatever, whoever. Just
- 6:35Speaker 1: that's wild, but I think that is you should just
- 6:37Speaker 1: call it a category, the Cleveland Browns. This is this
- 6:40Speaker 1: is just the Cleveland Browns forever.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, Deshaun Watson slash shador slash whichever quarterback Cleveland starts.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I put Aaron Rodgers in this category. I think it's over.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I think that's I mean, look, they're gonna need a
- 6:56Speaker 1: new quarterback after the after the year, like what.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I think he's toast. I think even last year that
- 7:03Speaker 2: team barely made it to the playoffs. He didn't want
- 7:06Speaker 2: to get hit. He didn't really want to throw the
- 7:08Speaker 2: ball down the field. The ball was coming out so
- 7:10Speaker 2: quickly because he didn't actually want to stand in the pocket. Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I just feel as though that team, Oh, England love it.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Were they playing here?
- 7:21Speaker 2: The congo.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Oh, there's so much sports going on. We got Connley
- 7:28Speaker 1: early on, the il Celtics signing Mitche Robinson. NHL for
- 7:32Speaker 1: agency just opened.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I would love in England upset. That would be fair.
- 7:36Speaker 1: The World Cup. These games have been really good. I
- 7:40Speaker 1: love the penalty kicks. Did you see the thing where
- 7:42Speaker 1: the German guys didn't want to take a kick?
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:44Speaker 1: Wild.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So let's get back to what. Sorry, that was distracted
- 7:48Speaker 2: That German team needs new quarterbacks Germany. So Aaron Rodgers,
- 7:52Speaker 2: I think we're both in agreement. Maybe for one more
- 7:55Speaker 2: year he can be serviceable, but it's time. It's time.
- 7:59Speaker 1: So the question is are we doing like big picture
- 8:01Speaker 1: just for this year. I would give him serviceable for
- 8:03Speaker 1: this year, and he almost got him the playoffs last year.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Or get it he did, I should say. I mean
- 8:08Speaker 2: with one of the most anemic, like peace shooter offenses
- 8:11Speaker 2: in the league.
- 8:11Speaker 1: He got him there. It was bad, he got him there.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I call him serviceable. But if we're doing long term,
- 8:16Speaker 1: like they will need a new quarterback in twenty twenty.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Seven, Uh, the Atlanta Falcons, Penix in Tua right now?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Is that competition? I don't think either one of those
- 8:26Speaker 2: guys is the answer. I'm sorry to say. I'm Penix
- 8:29Speaker 2: who I was a believer in him too, Maybe not
- 8:31Speaker 2: as strongly as you, but I believed in him.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Well believe him sort of was my whole thing with him.
- 8:37Speaker 2: If he's healthy, yeah, well it hasn't just been. He
- 8:40Speaker 2: hasn't been great when he's been healthy either.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's I know, it's part of it. But time
- 8:44Speaker 1: to work.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Old friend. Jacoby Brissette the Arizona Cardinals, assuming he is
- 8:50Speaker 2: the starter in Arizona out, not not gonna do it.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Not gonna cut it. This last one I thought about
- 8:58Speaker 2: a little bit, but because I like to confirm our
- 9:00Speaker 2: priors Alex and dance On when we're right, Kyler and
- 9:03Speaker 2: JJ McCarthy in Minnesota. I just don't think that either
- 9:06Speaker 2: one of those guys is the long term answer there.
- 9:08Speaker 1: They also hate each other, which is gonna make that worse.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Some of the quotes that came out of Minnesota the spring.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we were all of It's bad.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I'll take my lumps on Panis. I was dead right,
- 9:19Speaker 1: yeah on JJ mcween.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Nailed that one. JJ McCarthy, Kyler Murray. So you have
- 9:24Speaker 2: just for a team perspective, which I think is maybe
- 9:26Speaker 2: easier for this tier teams that are going to probably
- 9:30Speaker 2: be quarterback teams in the twenty twenty seven offseason Dolphins, Jets, Browns, Steelers, Falcons, Cardinals, Vikings'
- 9:41Speaker 2: That's how I feel about that group.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to think off the top of my head.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I think that's so some of these guys are in
- 9:48Speaker 1: the fraud watch category.
- 9:49Speaker 2: We might get there, but I think as of today,
- 9:52Speaker 2: it's still good enough, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 9:56Speaker 2: So that's the group in.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Terms, I have one more team, two more teams that
- 10:01Speaker 1: might be quarterback teams in twenty seven, but I think
- 10:02Speaker 1: they don't belong in that tier.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:04Speaker 1: No, this is like your your quarterback is below replacement level.
- 10:08Speaker 1: This guy is bad at that. I think there might
- 10:11Speaker 1: be two more teams that find that out. So Aaron
- 10:13Speaker 1: Rodgers is the one guy that I went back and
- 10:15Speaker 1: forth with on yeah, because they think he's service you have,
- 10:18Speaker 1: like he was probably.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Like the twenty fourth or twenty fifth best quarterback in
- 10:22Speaker 2: the league last year and got the team to the playoffs.
- 10:25Speaker 2: We'll see. Okay, next category, next tier, too soon, just
- 10:31Speaker 2: young bucks, too soon, first or second year quarterbacks cam
- 10:34Speaker 2: Ward Fernando Mendoza, Jackson Dart, Tyler Schuck. I just don't
- 10:41Speaker 2: we don't have enough information on those guys yet. Yeah,
- 10:43Speaker 2: so I'm not gonna say positive or negative there right
- 10:46Speaker 2: in the in the middle of those two things. We'll see. Uh.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Next tier here is the frauds. The fraud watch Jalen Hurts.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I have Jalen Hurts in this category. I watched a
- 10:58Speaker 2: lot of Eagles tape when the Patriots acquired AJ Brown.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I have a lot of concerns about Jalen Hurts at
- 11:05Speaker 2: this stage of his career. I think the Eagles do
- 11:07Speaker 2: too both personality wise, and play wise really has one
- 11:12Speaker 2: trick and that's a thorough goball down the sideline, doesn't
- 11:15Speaker 2: really do much else extremely well. Isn't as mobile as
- 11:18Speaker 2: he once was, So Jalen Hurts on this list, I
- 11:21Speaker 2: think these two quarterbacks are kind of similar. Hurts one
- 11:23Speaker 2: of Super Bowl, so maybe a little bit better. But
- 11:25Speaker 2: c J. Stroud. I also think c J. Stroud's a
- 11:28Speaker 2: little bit on fraud watch, especially after that playoff performance
- 11:32Speaker 2: last year. The interceptions in the playoffs really started to
- 11:35Speaker 2: add up. If you're the Houston Texans, how great do
- 11:38Speaker 2: you feel right now about paying CJ's.
- 11:41Speaker 1: One of the more interesting situations in the NFL right now.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I'm actually fascinated to see how that plays out.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I just feel as though there's been some good football
- 11:49Speaker 2: with both those guys, Hurts and Stroud, but I got
- 11:51Speaker 2: my eye on them. I'm skeptical right now whether or
- 11:54Speaker 2: not those guys are are long term solutions at that position.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Next one here is similar, Bryce Young, same thing. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 2: has had some spurts, has had some flashes, has had
- 12:04Speaker 2: some good stretches of football, but still, to me, I'm
- 12:08Speaker 2: starting to really question whether or not he's the long
- 12:10Speaker 2: term guy. And then maybe the biggest in the fraud
- 12:13Speaker 2: watch category that I was tempted to move down was
- 12:15Speaker 2: Daniel Jones, who basically was good for eight weeks and
- 12:18Speaker 2: then got hurt and we have no idea if he's
- 12:22Speaker 2: good enough.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Jones was one of those guys where I could see
- 12:24Speaker 1: the Colts becoming a quarterback team at the end of
- 12:26Speaker 1: the year. I really don't get what's going to happen
- 12:28Speaker 1: with him, and they paid him. They're in a tough spot.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, So this the other way I kind of broke
- 12:35Speaker 2: this up too, because we get into the yeah sures.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I think the other way that is interesting here is
- 12:40Speaker 2: kind of like would you give these guys the big
- 12:43Speaker 2: contract or not? And I think that, you know, moving forward,
- 12:46Speaker 2: Stroud Young, I know Daniel Jones kind of signed that
- 12:49Speaker 2: big contract, but I think a lot of that was
- 12:51Speaker 2: was kind of fugazy in terms of the money in
- 12:55Speaker 2: the guarantees long term. I don't know if I would
- 12:58Speaker 2: give CJ. Stratton Bryce Young long term contract at this point,
- 13:01Speaker 2: and both those teams have decisions to make this offseason.
- 13:04Speaker 2: On both those guys.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I think that the Stroud one's a little more complicated.
- 13:09Speaker 1: He's seen the ceiling right and I feel pretty now
- 13:14Speaker 1: whether or not CJ. Stroud is the kind of guy
- 13:16Speaker 1: you pay. We used to talk about this when every
- 13:18Speaker 1: single quarterback was getting a record setting contract. Remember this
- 13:20Speaker 1: is during the Mac Jones era, and like, eventually one
- 13:23Speaker 1: of these guys, either a team's gonna have to move
- 13:25Speaker 1: on from a serviceable quarterback or somebody's gonna have to
- 13:27Speaker 1: get a non record breaking deal like Bryce Young fits
- 13:30Speaker 1: in there. To me, I think he's a legit starting quarterback.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I think he's a guy that you can win with.
- 13:34Speaker 1: But he's obviously not like you could do better. You've
- 13:37Speaker 1: seen the ceiling with Stroud, and that's what makes it
- 13:40Speaker 1: that much tougher because if he can get back to
- 13:43Speaker 1: that guy, it is a no brainer you pay him.
- 13:45Speaker 1: He's not just a guy you can win with. He's
- 13:47Speaker 1: a guy you can win because of. But it's been
- 13:48Speaker 1: a couple of years since he's been that guy. So
- 13:50Speaker 1: what happens there.
- 13:51Speaker 2: One of the more perplexing career arcs that we've seen.
- 13:56Speaker 2: And usually when you're really really good as a rookie,
- 14:00Speaker 2: and I would say on the scale, you know, like
- 14:02Speaker 2: Mac Jones had a good rookie year, CJ. Stroud was
- 14:04Speaker 2: really really good as a rookie. Want a playoff game
- 14:06Speaker 2: as a rookie, was better than Mac Jones as a rookie.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It doesn't usually fall out from underneath you this quickly
- 14:13Speaker 2: as it has to Stroud. Some of that's probably to
- 14:16Speaker 2: do with the Texans. They've had some coaching changes, some
- 14:18Speaker 2: roster turnover, they have struggled to figure out the offensive line.
- 14:21Speaker 2: They've had injuries, a wide receiver, all those things, but
- 14:24Speaker 2: hurts Stroud young Daniel Jones fraud watch. I got my
- 14:28Speaker 2: eye on you. I want to see more. And uh,
- 14:31Speaker 2: I'm not sure if I'm hitching my wagon too, you
- 14:33Speaker 2: guys long term? Right now? The yeah, sure is the
- 14:36Speaker 2: good enough? We were over the Mason Dixon line now
- 14:39Speaker 2: right like where we were.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I don't know that that's when to that, but okay
- 14:43Speaker 1: that is south to north. This is okay, I get it. Yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 1: Caleb Williams, I'd say the Mendoza line.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Sure, the Mendoza A line. We're over the Mendoza line.
- 14:54Speaker 1: You know what the Mendoza line is, right, Yeah, it's
- 14:55Speaker 1: like two hundred or something. Yeah, to be good enough
- 14:57Speaker 1: to hit in baseball, to be in the lineup, all.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Right, Caleb Williams Yeah, Trevor Lawrence, Yeah, Sam Donald, brock Purty,
- 15:07Speaker 2: Baker Mayfield, and begrudgingly I put bow Knicks in this
- 15:10Speaker 2: tier as well. I mean you have to. I think
- 15:13Speaker 2: those guys are all good enough. Do I think that
- 15:15Speaker 2: they are all win because of Do I think that
- 15:19Speaker 2: they are driving buses? No?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Give me that list again.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Caleb yep, Trevor Lawrence, and Sam Donald, brock Purty, Baker Mayfield,
- 15:29Speaker 2: bow Knicks.
- 15:30Speaker 1: So I'm curious what your next. Maybe this is maybe
- 15:33Speaker 1: these two were tweeners. I feel like Caleb Williams and
- 15:36Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield are a step above the rest of that group.
- 15:39Speaker 2: So Baker half a step above. Now, maybe it was
- 15:42Speaker 2: injury related, but this happens with Baker. Baker was an
- 15:45Speaker 2: MVP candidate for the first month of the season last year,
- 15:48Speaker 2: and then him and the Bucks completely fell off a cliff.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Well, they lost a lot of talent, they lost some guys,
- 15:54Speaker 1: he was hurt, and they lost I would still I'd
- 15:56Speaker 1: still go with Baker Mayfield any day. Baker Mayfield can play.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Yeah, he's in my kit, you can play category. He's
- 16:02Speaker 2: not doing more ten quarterback in the NFL. He might be,
- 16:05Speaker 2: but that's what I mean. He might be ten, but
- 16:06Speaker 2: he might be Okay, Well, I think all these guys
- 16:08Speaker 2: that are in then this next tier better than him,
- 16:10Speaker 2: but I need.
- 16:11Speaker 1: To hear that maybe those two are. I think Caleb
- 16:13Speaker 1: Williams is a Baker mayfielder a step above those guys,
- 16:16Speaker 1: but they also might be a step below the next group.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You're gonna give they are. They're kind of Caleb. I
- 16:21Speaker 1: like a one A and one B here.
- 16:24Speaker 2: So Caleb, I will allow to say, has the most
- 16:28Speaker 2: likely outcome from this tier to go up. Okay, right,
- 16:31Speaker 2: like because he's young still, he's only going into his
- 16:33Speaker 2: third year. Caleb is at this point to me, is
- 16:37Speaker 2: in this category in terms of his play, but his
- 16:40Speaker 2: upside is much higher than this. His upside top ten
- 16:42Speaker 2: quarterback in the league, which is why he was a
- 16:44Speaker 2: number one pick in the draft a couple of years ago.
- 16:47Speaker 2: So these are there's actually eleven guys, but this is
- 16:50Speaker 2: like great, definitely has an argument to be a top
- 16:55Speaker 2: ten quarterback tier.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Yeah see, I would say Baker and Williams have no
- 17:00Speaker 1: argument to be top ten.
- 17:01Speaker 2: No Baker, Baker was not good last year.
- 17:06Speaker 1: After the first I like, I'm a Baker guy.
- 17:08Speaker 2: He's a gamer. Yeah, he's a gamer.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I value that, and I usually hate short quarterbacks. I'm
- 17:13Speaker 1: a sizistic quarterback. Baker's like the exception to Caleb.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I could hear that argument for Baker. I think you're
- 17:17Speaker 2: a little too high on I would actually make a
- 17:19Speaker 2: better argument for brock Purty over Baker.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I'm luke warm on brock Party.
- 17:24Speaker 2: He brock perty Is he's gotten a lot better.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Yeah, what happened? You hated brock Party.
- 17:29Speaker 2: He's gotten a lot better. He's improved a lot now
- 17:31Speaker 2: some of that, you know, you will never know if
- 17:34Speaker 2: his efficiency is dried by Kyle Shanahan or if it's
- 17:36Speaker 2: drive by brock Party. Like those two things go hand
- 17:39Speaker 2: in hand and we can't remove one from the other.
- 17:41Speaker 2: But he has gotten a lot better. I would say
- 17:44Speaker 2: in this tier right now, I'd probably say brock Perty
- 17:46Speaker 2: is the best quarterback in that tier. Uh So, top
- 17:50Speaker 2: ten argument guys justin Herbert Dak, Jordan Love, Jared Goff.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I think those guys are all made men. I think
- 17:59Speaker 2: they're all very good uarterback, saying Herbert Dak, Jordan Love, Jared.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Goff, I was waiting for Gough. Okay, Yes, made men
- 18:08Speaker 1: not elite. I'm not They're not in that category. They're
- 18:12Speaker 1: not Blue Chippers. But I feel like I would put Herbert.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I would put Baker, Caleb Williams in Love in a
- 18:20Speaker 1: category in between these two, okay, because Jordan loves the
- 18:24Speaker 1: opposite of Baker Mayfield, Like he's okay to start the season,
- 18:26Speaker 1: and then Toyota than starts and he goes on a dare.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Jordan Love, I I I was hesitant about putting in this.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I I almost had him like.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You did, like you did with my ranking the games.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Remember when we were trying to find what a coin
- 18:38Speaker 1: toss was. I'm gonna create my own categories. I'm gonna
- 18:41Speaker 1: create one in between these two. That's Baker, Caleb Williams,
- 18:44Speaker 1: Jordan Love.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I was pretty close to putting him in the ashers.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I think if you put him in the ashures, it
- 18:50Speaker 1: makes Baker and Caleb Williams's presence there make more sense.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Okay, that's fair. I just I think Jordan Love's peaks
- 18:57Speaker 2: are so high that I felt like he moved him up.
- 19:01Speaker 1: And I'd say the same thing about Baker, but his
- 19:03Speaker 1: peaks come later in the year, So I guess you
- 19:05Speaker 1: give some bonus for that.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, he's had better playoff performance.
- 19:08Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 19:08Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I would put the three of them, I consider three
- 19:12Speaker 1: that well. Caleb Williams is different because you're putting a
- 19:14Speaker 1: lot on projection. But I would put the three of
- 19:16Speaker 1: them in relatively same standing.
- 19:18Speaker 2: That's fair. I'll allow of that, all right. Elite, Now,
- 19:23Speaker 2: this is young elite category. I separated the elite the
- 19:26Speaker 2: tiers of the elite because I feel like there's the
- 19:28Speaker 2: young elite guys and then there's like the established elite guys. Okay,
- 19:32Speaker 2: so Drake May and Jade and Daniels are both the younger,
- 19:34Speaker 2: that's fair. They both had one MVP caliber season. We'll see,
- 19:39Speaker 2: you know, Jaden Daniels did not have a good year too.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Drake Mays year one for a lot of had to
- 19:45Speaker 2: do nothing to do with him in year one as
- 19:47Speaker 2: a rookie for Drake May. But at the end of
- 19:49Speaker 2: the day, he's done it once. Jaden Daniels has done
- 19:51Speaker 2: it once. We've seen both those guys be elite quarterbacks
- 19:54Speaker 2: in this league for one single season. So I wouldn't
- 19:57Speaker 2: put them in like the full on s tier elite
- 20:01Speaker 2: category just yet because I need to see it a
- 20:03Speaker 2: little bit more from both of them. So the full
- 20:05Speaker 2: on elite tier category for me, number one tier, Josh Allen,
- 20:10Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson. I still put Mahomes here, but I kind
- 20:14Speaker 2: of thought about it. He hasn't. I don't know if
- 20:15Speaker 2: he's been there. Yeah, recently, Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow that
- 20:20Speaker 2: that those to me are the my best quarterbacks in
- 20:23Speaker 2: the league. Alan Lamar, Mahomes, Stafford Burrow, and I think
- 20:27Speaker 2: that May and Daniels are are knocking on that door.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Whoever replicates their MVP caliber season first. Yeah, well I
- 20:35Speaker 2: would have there, but top five, Alan Lamar, Mahomes, Stafford Burrow,
- 20:40Speaker 2: I'd probably then go May, Daniels, Herbert Dak Love Golf.
- 20:44Speaker 2: That's eleven. So those are my tiers. I think that
- 20:48Speaker 2: you you brought up some interesting points about Jordan Love
- 20:51Speaker 2: and Baker and Caleb. Caleb I definitely give the most
- 20:53Speaker 2: I think. Okay, I already had six, so I was
- 20:57Speaker 2: trying not to make right. That's fair. But if you
- 21:00Speaker 2: have comments on those, we can take those as well.
- 21:04Speaker 2: If you think I'm very very wrong, which I'm sure
- 21:07Speaker 2: some people do, well, we'll take that feedback to I
- 21:10Speaker 2: want to do some over unders. Let's do some Yeah,
- 21:14Speaker 2: so we've we've done some AFC East around the AFC
- 21:18Speaker 2: East exercises, so let's start with the AFC East. We'll
- 21:21Speaker 2: do the Patriots last. Uh, the Patriots and the Bills.
- 21:24Speaker 2: When I checked this on DraftKings yesterday had the same
- 21:27Speaker 2: exact win total ten and a half. Bills are at
- 21:29Speaker 2: ten and a half right now on Draft Kings.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think that's fair.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Are they over or under though the Bills, Yeah, I'll
- 21:36Speaker 2: say over. I think they get to eleven eleven.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I've said eleven. I think I've said eleven every time
- 21:41Speaker 1: you've asked me, So I think it's a pretty good
- 21:43Speaker 1: line set. Is about right that it's there a ten
- 21:45Speaker 1: or eleven we're in. It's I think that's what I've said.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I'll go over just to surprise you, and I'll say over.
- 21:50Speaker 1: But I think it's a you're sweating that one out
- 21:53Speaker 1: till they play the Jets Week eighteam right.
- 21:55Speaker 2: They might play a meaningless game at the end of
- 21:58Speaker 2: their schedule. I'm gonna go over to shocker. I know,
- 22:01Speaker 2: I know I'm picking the over the Jets five and
- 22:04Speaker 2: a hay five and a half on the Jets over Runner, I'm.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Gonna go over. I think their defense will win them
- 22:12Speaker 1: some games.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna go over to. I really kind of like
- 22:15Speaker 2: what the Jets are doing.
- 22:16Speaker 1: They don't have a quarterbacks I have to quarterback, and
- 22:19Speaker 1: they don't head coach.
- 22:20Speaker 2: We have to mention that as well, Like I am
- 22:22Speaker 2: not sold on Aaron Glenn as the head coach, and
- 22:25Speaker 2: we already know the geno thing he was in my
- 22:27Speaker 2: you need a new quarterback category that's not gonna work.
- 22:30Speaker 2: But could they be like a frisky six and eleven team?
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I'm trying to think of the comparison from
- 22:37Speaker 1: last year. Could they be like the Saints who only
- 22:40Speaker 1: won six games but were tough out? Yeah, and the
- 22:42Speaker 1: Saints didn't war with offense than defense. But could they
- 22:44Speaker 1: be like one of they were like no. Five hundred
- 22:46Speaker 1: teams the NFL at year everbody was really good or
- 22:48Speaker 1: really bad.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah. I feel the same about the Jets. I really
- 22:52Speaker 2: I can see a vision with the Jets of what
- 22:54Speaker 2: they're building around the quarterback.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Now we've said that about the Jets in the past
- 22:58Speaker 2: when they drafted Garrett Wills in Sauce Gardner and Breeze
- 23:01Speaker 2: Hall and all these guys. It was always, oh, they
- 23:03Speaker 2: have a great roster, good defense, you know, good skill players,
- 23:07Speaker 2: but they don't have a quarterback. And Zach Wilson wasn't
- 23:09Speaker 2: their quarterback. And you know, going back to Sam Darnold,
- 23:12Speaker 2: he wasn't their quarterback. So we've been here before with
- 23:15Speaker 2: the Jets where they have a nice roster, but they
- 23:17Speaker 2: don't have a quarterback. So we'll see. I'm going over.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I think the Jets are a six win team, the
- 23:22Speaker 2: Dolphins four and a half. I'm going under.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I'm going under.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I think the Dolphins might be the worst team in football.
- 23:28Speaker 1: They're gonna be They're gonna be the running for it.
- 23:30Speaker 1: They're certainly gonna be in the running.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I think they're a three or four win team. Yeah,
- 23:35Speaker 2: probably number one pick.
- 23:36Speaker 1: And when you look at the schedule and all of that,
- 23:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the under on Miami, agreed.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Patriots ten and a half.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna go over. I think they're also probably ten
- 23:46Speaker 1: of Like just like Buffalo, you're such a homer you
- 23:49Speaker 1: going under.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Now, I'm going over. I think the Patriots are getting
- 23:53Speaker 2: there's too much market correction on the Patriots the other way,
- 23:56Speaker 2: like everybody is talking about the regression and how they
- 23:59Speaker 2: know they're everybody? Do you you were.
- 24:02Speaker 1: You were talking about that two weeks ago?
- 24:04Speaker 2: Too much, too much market correction there. I'm gonna say you, well,
- 24:08Speaker 2: what do you mean that was you?
- 24:09Speaker 1: When we did Bill's Patriots, that was you.
- 24:11Speaker 2: You're the one who did all that.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I said that I need to see it again, which
- 24:15Speaker 1: I do. I think they went. I think the Patriots
- 24:18Speaker 1: and Bills both win eleven games. You think they both
- 24:20Speaker 1: win eleven?
- 24:22Speaker 2: Who wins the division?
- 24:23Speaker 1: What's the tie I think they're gonna split their games.
- 24:25Speaker 1: What's the tiebreaker after?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Probably division record?
- 24:29Speaker 1: You know what? The Bills always screw up in Miami.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I think the Patriots win.
- 24:33Speaker 2: The Bills always screw them. The Patriots all don't have
- 24:35Speaker 2: a great record in Miami either.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but the Patriots get to play them in my
- 24:39Speaker 1: isn't that? Oh No, it's not the last game of
- 24:40Speaker 1: the year. Do the Bills play in Miami.
- 24:41Speaker 2: The Patriots played Miami in in like November.
- 24:44Speaker 1: In November, it's not too bad. The Bills play in
- 24:46Speaker 1: Miami January third. That's a trap game. That's it's coming
- 24:52Speaker 1: off the Broncos on Christmas.
- 24:54Speaker 2: I think it's that would make sense, right, it's overall record,
- 24:57Speaker 2: head to head record, division record, because it is for
- 24:59Speaker 2: the divisi, I.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Think, so I shouldn't know this. Two clubs heads ahead,
- 25:06Speaker 1: best one loss. Yeah, games within the division.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I got so. So you have the Patriots winning
- 25:10Speaker 2: the tiebreaker.
- 25:11Speaker 1: To win the division, winning the second tiebreaker.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Because the Bills inexcusably lose to the Dolphins late in
- 25:17Speaker 2: the season.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I agree, And then the tiebreaker after that
- 25:22Speaker 1: is common opponents, which I think the Patriots did have
- 25:24Speaker 1: that tiebreaker last year.
- 25:25Speaker 2: So I understand that. I why you came at me
- 25:29Speaker 2: for saying that I am talking about regression for the Patriots.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Winning eleven games is still three games worth of regression.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I describe to that take that everybody's given at this point,
- 25:39Speaker 1: which is better team worse record.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I subscribe to it too, But I think that there's
- 25:43Speaker 2: a middle ground there where you hear that and I
- 25:45Speaker 2: feel like people are thinking like a nine win team.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I still think eleven or twelve wins as possible for
- 25:51Speaker 2: this team, but that's regression. They won fourteen last year,
- 25:55Speaker 2: so by a letter of the law, that is regression.
- 25:57Speaker 2: But they need to prove it again, all right, A
- 26:00Speaker 2: couple more from the rest of the AFC. The Broncos.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I think this is too low nine and a half.
- 26:08Speaker 1: With that defense. It's because of the division. I would assume.
- 26:11Speaker 2: That's fair, but I feel like that now that's regression. People.
- 26:17Speaker 1: That would be fourteen wins to nine.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, people think that I am a Broncos hater because
- 26:21Speaker 2: of how much I make. I love it. I love
- 26:24Speaker 2: hating on the Broncos Bronc. I love hating on their quarterback.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I love hating on their stupid stadium and the Bronco
- 26:30Speaker 2: outside of it. At the airport, I so badly when
- 26:33Speaker 2: we were leaving. We know about that airport, right, Yeah,
- 26:36Speaker 2: I so badly wanted to put a Drake May jersey
- 26:39Speaker 2: on the on the on the Bronco while we were leaving. Uh,
- 26:44Speaker 2: but they no one wanted me to do.
- 26:46Speaker 1: You know what, you don't you know what we could
- 26:47Speaker 1: do now?
- 26:48Speaker 2: I wanted to stop the bus and put a Drake Maje.
- 26:50Speaker 1: If if the Patriots, because the Broncos come here, but
- 26:53Speaker 1: if the Patriots end up back during the playoffs, Yeah,
- 26:55Speaker 1: put a traffic cone on the Bronco.
- 26:57Speaker 2: There you go, shout out, shout out shout out sorry
- 26:59Speaker 2: about ending to the World Cup field.
- 27:01Speaker 1: That was unfortunate that that that second for Zill scored
- 27:04Speaker 1: that third goal.
- 27:05Speaker 2: I was like, we're gonna We're gonna get together soon though.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I think mister Craft's working on that. He's he's I've
- 27:11Speaker 2: seen that he's pressing.
- 27:12Speaker 1: So I did have because I tweeted out, there's four
- 27:14Speaker 1: stadiums in Scotland.
- 27:16Speaker 2: It's one of them in it's Glasgow.
- 27:17Speaker 1: It's three in Glascow, one in probably Edinburgh. I think
- 27:22Speaker 1: it's spelled Edinburgh. I think its pounce Edinburgh. So there's
- 27:25Speaker 1: four stadiums that can seat fifty plus thousand. The fifth
- 27:27Speaker 1: biggest is twenty thousand, So there's four stadiums. Realistically, you
- 27:30Speaker 1: could do this. I tweeted out, and I had some
- 27:32Speaker 1: Scottish followers kind of let me you know which stadiums, Hey,
- 27:35Speaker 1: this probably would work, This probably wouldn't work. The NFL
- 27:38Speaker 1: looked at Murrayfield Stadium, which is the big one, in
- 27:40Speaker 1: two thousand and eight. They obviously didn't end up going.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Based on the replies on Twitter, which way however you want? Uh,
- 27:46Speaker 1: it seemed like Hampden Park in Glasgow is the way
- 27:49Speaker 1: to go. That's the home of their national soccer team.
- 27:52Speaker 1: That's like there, Wembley. I'm in so I hope i'd go.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I would actually I would go. I would figure out
- 27:59Speaker 1: a way to go. That'd be a lot of fun.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Back to the Broncos. Yeah, the Broncos. I feel like
- 28:04Speaker 2: their offseason has kind of flown a little bit under
- 28:06Speaker 2: the radar. They were really quiet at first, and then
- 28:08Speaker 2: they make the big splash by trading for Jalen Waddle.
- 28:11Speaker 2: That's a big trade.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Adding Jalen Waddle to that that offense is a legit move.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Nine and a half feels a little bit low, and
- 28:19Speaker 2: I think you're right they are accounting for the division,
- 28:22Speaker 2: which we'll get to here in a few minutes, because
- 28:24Speaker 2: I think the Chiefs line is entirely too high, way
- 28:27Speaker 2: too much respect for Kansas City right now in Vegas.
- 28:30Speaker 2: So are we both over the Broncos nine and a half.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I'm over, But.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Just because it's a low line.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you. I think they're a double digit
- 28:40Speaker 2: win team.
- 28:40Speaker 1: They should win double digit.
- 28:41Speaker 2: They're gonna win fourteen games again, but they should win.
- 28:44Speaker 1: In less and less. There's more to that. Bonick's ankle
- 28:49Speaker 1: injury than's out there right now in Vegas knows something
- 28:51Speaker 1: we don't. That would be the one thing. And like
- 28:53Speaker 1: the relationship between Bonicks and Sean Payton seemed to test
- 28:57Speaker 1: your time since the end of Sea. That would be
- 28:59Speaker 1: the one thing to me, maybe because when you see
- 29:01Speaker 1: a number like that, like what does Vegas know that
- 29:03Speaker 1: we don't? That would be the one thing I go
- 29:06Speaker 1: to that Like, if bo Nicks can't move anymore, there
- 29:09Speaker 1: goes his game. He can't be a pocket passers, not
- 29:11Speaker 1: a thrower.
- 29:12Speaker 2: That's definitely part of big part of his game. That
- 29:14Speaker 2: would be it's not so much running but moving, moving mobility.
- 29:18Speaker 1: That would be the one thing to me that I'm like,
- 29:20Speaker 1: if you tell me bo Nix is now a statue, Yeah,
- 29:23Speaker 1: now you're probably looking at an eight or nine win team. Sure,
- 29:25Speaker 1: all right, but there's nothing out there right now that
- 29:27Speaker 1: says that's the case.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Moving to the AFC North, Yeah this what? Yeah, we don't.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Oh you want to keep with the West?
- 29:35Speaker 1: I thought we were going by the vision yeh, yeah,
- 29:36Speaker 1: that probably makes more sense on this line to me.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Way too much respect for the Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas
- 29:43Speaker 2: City ten and a half wins ten and a half.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm in that. I'm gonna go under. I think
- 29:48Speaker 1: the Chiefs would be okay, but since the last time
- 29:51Speaker 1: we saw Mahomes at full strength, and like even last year,
- 29:54Speaker 1: he didn't look right the whole year. Like the Broncos
- 29:56Speaker 1: are much better than they were two years ago, the
- 29:57Speaker 1: Chargers much better thany were two years ago.
- 29:59Speaker 2: We'll see what the raid. The Raiders are gonna be better.
- 30:01Speaker 1: There's no way they should be better, right, So I
- 30:04Speaker 1: actually think the Chiefs will be okay. I think they're
- 30:06Speaker 1: gonna be like in the mix that's that's too high though, I.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Think ten and a half his blasphemy. I really do, like,
- 30:13Speaker 2: what what roster are you looking at that has them
- 30:15Speaker 2: at ten and a half?
- 30:15Speaker 1: When Travis Kelsey's gonna get married and suddenly played like.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Taekwon Thornton and Travis Kelcey and Keishan Boody, Xavier Worthy.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I do like Xavier Worthy.
- 30:26Speaker 2: But maybe they say maybe they sign you know, sloop
- 30:29Speaker 2: In and signed Digs at some point, maybe they trade
- 30:32Speaker 2: for Kaishaon Boody. I guess, I mean, I don't know.
- 30:35Speaker 2: I don't see it. Like their off season acquisition was
- 30:37Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker good running back. But you know how I
- 30:40Speaker 2: feel about running backs moving the needle. For a team
- 30:43Speaker 2: they trade Trent McDuffie on defense, they get worse on defense.
- 30:46Speaker 2: They actually I think the Jettison Bolt are starting corners
- 30:49Speaker 2: on defense, do they not. I just don't get that
- 30:51Speaker 2: line at all. They won six games last year. Everybody
- 30:54Speaker 2: kind of is under the assumption that it was because
- 30:56Speaker 2: Mahomes got hurt. Mahomes didn't get hurt too late in
- 30:58Speaker 2: the season. They were already going downhill well before Mahomes
- 31:01Speaker 2: got hurt. I think ten and a half is crazy.
- 31:04Speaker 2: I think that's a seven or eight win team even
- 31:05Speaker 2: with the healthy Mahomes. I'm gonna go under. And you
- 31:07Speaker 2: also don't know when Mahomes is gonna be Mahomes. He
- 31:11Speaker 2: might play Week one. But remember Brady in nine was
- 31:15Speaker 2: it took him a little bit. He was not the
- 31:17Speaker 2: same guy right out of the shot with the ACL.
- 31:19Speaker 2: I think ten and a half is way too much
- 31:21Speaker 2: respect for Kansas City the Chargers nine and a half.
- 31:25Speaker 2: I like the over here, and I'm not a big
- 31:26Speaker 2: Chargers guy, as you know, but.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I like they always show up in the regular season.
- 31:30Speaker 1: They'll they'll win ten games, they'll get the top wild
- 31:32Speaker 1: card spot, and they'll get their doors blown off in
- 31:34Speaker 1: the first round of the playoffs, as is tradition.
- 31:36Speaker 2: They are a classic. That's exactly what they are. I
- 31:38Speaker 2: think they actually have a pretty good chance to win
- 31:40Speaker 2: that division. Yeah, but they might win that division and
- 31:43Speaker 2: then lose in the in the in the wildcard round
- 31:45Speaker 2: to a worse team that's just very Chargers. But I
- 31:48Speaker 2: think that that's a pretty good team, especially with getting
- 31:50Speaker 2: their tackles back. I think they're like an eleven or
- 31:52Speaker 2: twelve win team on paper in the regular season. I
- 31:55Speaker 2: have no expectations whatsoever for them in the playoffs. I
- 31:58Speaker 2: think they'll go someplace cold and fold like they always do. Yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 2: all right, Going back to the AFC North, I thought
- 32:05Speaker 2: this line was really really high too. Ravens eleven and
- 32:08Speaker 2: a half the highest one out of all these teams.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Right now, the Ravens are the favorites to win the A.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I love that roster. I really love that roster. I
- 32:18Speaker 1: think the new coach will help. Steelers might be bad,
- 32:24Speaker 1: Browns will be bad. Hell, Bengals might be bad.
- 32:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna go over. We're gonna go over.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna go over. I think for the regular season.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I think they're set up tremendously well. We'll do this
- 32:35Speaker 1: dance again when we get to January with the Ravens.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Is Lamar healthy, Is Derrick Henry healthy?
- 32:41Speaker 4: Like?
- 32:41Speaker 1: Are they kind of backing in? But I think that
- 32:44Speaker 1: they're set up incredibly well for the regular season.
- 32:46Speaker 2: They have a good roster Defensively. I don't know if
- 32:51Speaker 2: Matta Bik is playing. He remember he had the neck
- 32:53Speaker 2: injury last year. If he's healthy and he's back, that's
- 32:57Speaker 2: big for them. I do, like Jesse, I think that
- 33:00Speaker 2: that was the one thing that does worry me a
- 33:03Speaker 2: little bit though about them. And and Lamar has a
- 33:06Speaker 2: really good track record when they change offensive coordinators. His
- 33:10Speaker 2: first year with the offensive coordinators one MVP Bull times
- 33:12Speaker 2: Greg Roman And why am I blanking on the coach
- 33:16Speaker 2: of the Browns.
- 33:17Speaker 1: But it's irrelevant, it's Todd monktt.
- 33:22Speaker 2: I don't know why it took me that long. Decland
- 33:24Speaker 2: Doyle's are offensive coordinator now under Jesse Minter. Declan Doyle
- 33:29Speaker 2: has never been an offensive coordinator. He's never called plays
- 33:32Speaker 2: to my knowledge in the NFL. Yes, he's inheriting a
- 33:35Speaker 2: two time MVP, so that helps.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Well, there can be pressure that comes with that too.
- 33:39Speaker 2: But I I don't know if I'm totally sold on
- 33:42Speaker 2: the offense just yet. I have to see it to
- 33:44Speaker 2: believe it.
- 33:45Speaker 1: With that one, But Baltimore eleven and a half there,
- 33:48Speaker 1: I think that's a little high.
- 33:49Speaker 2: But I think they're probably an eleven or twelve win team.
- 33:52Speaker 2: That's why this is set here. I'm gonna go under.
- 33:55Speaker 2: I think they're an eleven win team. I think there's
- 33:56Speaker 2: some adjustment there. That's about right.
- 33:58Speaker 1: It's Mickey head coach the offense that they could go
- 34:01Speaker 1: six and oh in the division, so speaking, I know
- 34:05Speaker 1: it's tough to do in that division, but then they
- 34:07Speaker 1: got to get five other wins. Let me see you
- 34:09Speaker 1: else on their schedule real quick here. So who are
- 34:13Speaker 1: their non conference games? Colts Week one should be a win, Saints, Cowboys, Titans.
- 34:19Speaker 1: They have an easy schedule, Holy crap, Falcons, Browns, Bengals,
- 34:23Speaker 1: Bill's Jags.
- 34:24Speaker 2: They made the playoffs last year.
- 34:26Speaker 1: That's right, No, but this is easy. It gets a
- 34:28Speaker 1: little tough in the second half. Bill's Jags, Chargers, Panthers, Texans, Bucks, Steelers.
- 34:34Speaker 2: So they drew the NFC South, which is why they
- 34:36Speaker 2: haven't easier they.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Drew the NFC South and I think the AFC South.
- 34:40Speaker 1: So they drew with the Patriots drew last year.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Yeah, whoever drives the NFC South gets a gets a
- 34:46Speaker 2: break on their schedule. That's that's the new rule. So
- 34:49Speaker 2: Ravens eleven and a half. This one I thought was
- 34:52Speaker 2: really high too, just because you know how I feel
- 34:55Speaker 2: about Zach Taylor. Yeah, I really am flabberg acid that
- 34:58Speaker 2: the Bengals have held on to Taylor as long as
- 35:00Speaker 2: they have. This is really really counting on Joe Burrow
- 35:04Speaker 2: also being completely healthy for the entire season. Cincinnati ten
- 35:08Speaker 2: and a half right now. If Burrow's healthy, they can
- 35:12Speaker 2: do it. If everything breaks their way and Burrow's healthy
- 35:14Speaker 2: and the receivers are healthy, and YadA, YadA, YadA. Now
- 35:18Speaker 2: I'll give the Bengals this in our friend trags. They've
- 35:21Speaker 2: really improved their roster defensively. The Dexter Lawrence trade was
- 35:24Speaker 2: a really good trade. I don't think that they're a
- 35:26Speaker 2: top ten defense. I don't think they're an elite defense.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I think they can be serviceable on defense, which is
- 35:32Speaker 2: such a big improvement to what they were last year
- 35:35Speaker 2: and have been for the last couple with Joe Burrow.
- 35:38Speaker 2: If they're like the sixteenth best defense in the NFL
- 35:42Speaker 2: instead of the thirtieth best defense in the NFL, that's
- 35:45Speaker 2: a huge improvement at Burrow is healthy and everybody's everyone's healthy. Yea,
- 35:51Speaker 2: though eleven wins is a lot. I think it's under.
- 35:54Speaker 1: I think they're probably a ten win team. I'll go under,
- 35:56Speaker 1: but just under a texted Trags. We'll see what Trags
- 35:59Speaker 1: has to say.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Too much? Too much, uh counting on what? If? You know?
- 36:03Speaker 2: Is Burrow healthy the whole year? Is Chase healthy? Is
- 36:06Speaker 2: Higgins healthy? Is Zach Taylor a good coach? We don't know?
- 36:10Speaker 2: You know too much? Too many unknowns? All right? NFC South,
- 36:14Speaker 2: ANFC South? Sorry, had the NFC South on my mind.
- 36:17Speaker 2: AFC South, Do you put the Colts in this category
- 36:22Speaker 2: of contending for that division?
- 36:24Speaker 1: I think the Colts, sneaky, could end up contending for the.
- 36:26Speaker 2: First overall pick. So you don't put well, oh no,
- 36:29Speaker 2: that would be the Jets. So you don't put the
- 36:31Speaker 2: Colts in this.
- 36:33Speaker 1: They gave up all that capital and then paid Daniel Jones, yes,
- 36:38Speaker 1: and sauce gardener. Daniel Jones coming off a torn Achilles
- 36:41Speaker 1: who knows where he's going to be at who knows
- 36:42Speaker 1: where Sauce Gardner is going to be at. I like
- 36:45Speaker 1: their wide receiver, like I shouldn't say for a silver pick.
- 36:48Speaker 1: That's probably a little extreme. I mean they have some
- 36:50Speaker 1: other good pieces on offense. They have Alec Pearce, they
- 36:52Speaker 1: have Tyller Warren, they have Jonathan Taylor. But I don't
- 36:55Speaker 1: know if Daniel Jones isn't right. I mean, like, look,
- 36:57Speaker 1: he had a good set up in New York and
- 36:59Speaker 1: he still dragged them out. He had Saquan and dragged
- 37:03Speaker 1: him down.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I just.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Don't think so. I mean, I think they're the third
- 37:09Speaker 1: best team in that division.
- 37:10Speaker 2: I didn't even write them down when I when I
- 37:12Speaker 2: pulled all these because I just.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Don't, Oh, were we only going to do division leaders?
- 37:18Speaker 2: You want me to do the whole AFC.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I thought that was what we were doing.
- 37:20Speaker 2: No, I'm just looking at at the teams that have
- 37:23Speaker 2: you know, we can.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Skip the Colts on. I'm actually curious what they're at,
- 37:26Speaker 1: what their win total is now.
- 37:27Speaker 2: So right now, the Texans are favorite to win the division.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Colts are seven and a half. That's a I'd probably
- 37:33Speaker 1: go over, but that's about right.
- 37:36Speaker 2: They're projected to come in third. Then that's about right.
- 37:39Speaker 2: The Texans are right now currently the favorites to win
- 37:42Speaker 2: the AFC South at nine and a half.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I'll go over. I think CJ. Stroud clutches up in
- 37:46Speaker 1: con what's essentially a contract year.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I think it's a twelve win team.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:51Speaker 2: I think that's the best defense in football, our second
- 37:53Speaker 2: best if you want to give that to Seattle. Obviously
- 37:55Speaker 2: it's a great defense.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I mean, as we were talking about, I.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Think that's a perfect regular season team. We have to
- 38:00Speaker 2: score seventeen points a game.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Right in the regular as we were talking about with Burrow,
- 38:04Speaker 1: like if you just get CJ. Stroud to be level, Yeah,
- 38:07Speaker 1: what is that team?
- 38:08Speaker 2: I think it's a good team.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll go over them.
- 38:11Speaker 2: They've they've made some changes on their offensive line, although
- 38:13Speaker 2: there's still hitch to the Trent Brown wagon, which I
- 38:17Speaker 2: can't understand he because when he's on, he's on man,
- 38:21Speaker 2: and look, I have nothing but love for twenty eighteen.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Trent Brown right got the Patriots left starting left tackle
- 38:29Speaker 2: play to win a Super Bowl. In Brady's Tom last ride,
- 38:33Speaker 2: good player, Dante Scartneck, Trent Brown, he might have taken
- 38:38Speaker 2: a few years off of Dante scarneck Is life barking
- 38:40Speaker 2: at him for eighteen straight weeks in twenty eighteen, but
- 38:43Speaker 2: it worked. Trent Brown, I've never seen anything like what
- 38:48Speaker 2: Trent Brown did in that playoff game last year. I
- 38:50Speaker 2: was up in the press box where I normally am
- 38:52Speaker 2: pre game watching Trent Brown go through a pregame workout,
- 38:55Speaker 2: and he was questionable coming into the game with an
- 38:57Speaker 2: ankle injury. For a playoff game, a Visional Round playoff game,
- 39:01Speaker 2: he's questionable going into the game. He works it out,
- 39:05Speaker 2: tests it out, moving around like Trent Brown like he's
- 39:07Speaker 2: not a you know, doesn't He's three hundred and ninety pounds.
- 39:10Speaker 2: He doesn't move well, you know, like he's he's an eclipse,
- 39:14Speaker 2: like you know, like it's that's what he is. Next thing,
- 39:17Speaker 2: I know, he's tapped out. He said, I'm not playing today.
- 39:20Speaker 2: The Texans had to completely reconfigure their entire offensive line
- 39:24Speaker 2: ninety minutes before kickoff the Divisional Round, and we all
- 39:27Speaker 2: know how it went for CJ. Stroud in that game.
- 39:29Speaker 2: He's under pressure the entire game. It was an absolute
- 39:32Speaker 2: disaster through what four picks in the first half, five total,
- 39:35Speaker 2: something like that. I can't believe that there's still that
- 39:39Speaker 2: Trent Brown is their only option, that Trent Brown is
- 39:42Speaker 2: their projected starting right tackle. That being said, they've made
- 39:45Speaker 2: some other moves hopefully, you know you can. Nico Collins
- 39:50Speaker 2: wasn't healthy for that playoff game. Nico Collins a really
- 39:53Speaker 2: good receiver, like arguably a top ten receiver in football
- 39:56Speaker 2: when he's healthy. Do they get anything from Tank Dell?
- 40:00Speaker 2: You know, I think that's a big question, but a
- 40:02Speaker 2: sneaky big addition for them. Alex and I just said,
- 40:04Speaker 2: I'm not normally a running back guy, but David Montgomery
- 40:07Speaker 2: in that backfield, maybe they can have some semd once
- 40:09Speaker 2: of a running game to take some pressure off a strowd.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I think that's a really good regular season team. They
- 40:14Speaker 2: don't like they scored twenty points, seventeen points a game.
- 40:17Speaker 2: They're winning ten games.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I mean the defense is just.
- 40:21Speaker 2: And that that works. You know, that travels for seventeen weeks.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Last one here Jaguars. A very patriot like season for
- 40:31Speaker 2: the Jaguars last year. Their their seasons really mirrored each
- 40:33Speaker 2: other in a lot of ways. Uh first time first
- 40:36Speaker 2: year head coach UH with uh Liam Cohne eight and
- 40:42Speaker 2: a half for the Jaguars. So I think a lot
- 40:44Speaker 2: of this is that the Jaguars he saw.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I was tempted to say under just because the
- 40:49Speaker 1: Jaguars generally don't have two good years in a row.
- 40:51Speaker 1: But under eight and a half is low.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they're nine. I think they're nine.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I still it's how the Jags operate.
- 40:57Speaker 2: I think the Jags have a good team. I think
- 40:59Speaker 2: they're pretty well equipped defensively. I really liked what a
- 41:02Speaker 2: lot of the scheme type of things that they were doing.
- 41:04Speaker 1: He trust me to figure out Brian Thomas, though, I
- 41:06Speaker 1: feel like he's really the key to on locking that that.
- 41:08Speaker 2: I don't know, do they need to figure him out
- 41:12Speaker 2: completely or can he just be sort of he's their
- 41:15Speaker 2: ex and you know the ball comes away as comes away.
- 41:18Speaker 1: But I'm talking about if they're gonna take this isn't
- 41:20Speaker 1: so much the win total. This is just like them
- 41:22Speaker 1: taking the next step, sure, because that's what he was
- 41:24Speaker 1: last year.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Because it's Jacoby Myers, Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Junior. Clearly,
- 41:30Speaker 2: Jacoby Myers and Bryan and Parker Washington are gonna get
- 41:33Speaker 2: the targets like they're gonna get the volume if Brian
- 41:35Speaker 2: Thomas Junior is a really good deep threat for them,
- 41:38Speaker 2: it's better than it's better than the alternative of not
- 41:40Speaker 2: having Brian Thomas Junior. Travis Hunters sounds like he's gonna
- 41:43Speaker 2: play defense most of the time, which I think makes
- 41:45Speaker 2: which is the right call. Yeah, so I have Jaguars
- 41:49Speaker 2: over I think the Jaguar. I think both those teams,
- 41:51Speaker 2: the Texans and the Jaguars, will be playoff teams.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Again, I'm gonna go under for the Jats just out
- 41:56Speaker 1: of habit That's sorry, Kendra, that.
- 41:59Speaker 2: That that that's fair. I think the most ridiculous line
- 42:02Speaker 2: out of all of these. And then we'll get your
- 42:04Speaker 2: thoughts on it is Chiefs ten and a half. I'm sorry.
- 42:07Speaker 1: That just sticks out to me. Predicting there's just such
- 42:09Speaker 1: an anknn but predicting.
- 42:10Speaker 2: That they're gonna win double digit games with that roster
- 42:13Speaker 2: after the way that team looked last year, I just
- 42:15Speaker 2: feel like there's this all this revisionist history of what
- 42:17Speaker 2: happened in Kansas City last year. Like when you talked
- 42:20Speaker 2: about the Chiefs last year, So Mahomes got hurt. Mahomes
- 42:23Speaker 2: got hurt in like December, that team was already going
- 42:26Speaker 2: nowhere before he got hurt. But I digress. All right.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Let's by the way, Trags has the over on the
- 42:31Speaker 1: Bengals over ten and a half. Yeah, Trags is usually
- 42:36Speaker 1: not overly optimistic.
- 42:38Speaker 2: A much better defensive roster for the Bengals. I'll give
- 42:41Speaker 2: you that they improved the defense quite a bit. All right,
- 42:44Speaker 2: let's take these calls and emails are coming in. Let's
- 42:47Speaker 2: get to the phones. Uh, Patty is an aguan. What's up, Patty?
- 42:52Speaker 5: What's up?
- 42:53Speaker 6: Guys?
- 42:53Speaker 7: How you doing today?
- 42:55Speaker 2: Good?
- 42:57Speaker 8: So?
- 42:57Speaker 7: Uh, I just wanted to say that I appreciate you guys.
- 43:02Speaker 7: I love everything that you do. I'm so glad that
- 43:04Speaker 7: Barth and Lazaar are on Patriots dot Com. I know
- 43:07Speaker 7: I say it at least once a year, so I
- 43:09Speaker 7: had to get that in. I'll be going to a
- 43:12Speaker 7: few training camp practices as I hope to see you
- 43:14Speaker 7: guys again. And I don't really have a question. I
- 43:17Speaker 7: just wanted to show my appreciation and for Marine Corpmette,
- 43:21Speaker 7: let's go baby to fifty. Let's do it.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Thanks for the calling, Braddy, and I appreciate all that,
- 43:27Speaker 2: and I we'll definitely see you at training camp. Alex
- 43:31Speaker 2: is a pretty big July fourth. Guy too, you like
- 43:33Speaker 2: you're you're a big fourth of July. Guys, I nobody
- 43:37Speaker 2: likes the July fourth better than our our own.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Well, and he's now picked up a very good summer
- 43:42Speaker 1: hobby too, I started golfing.
- 43:44Speaker 2: It's I guess it makes sense when you serve our
- 43:46Speaker 2: country like he did to be a big July four. Yeah, guy,
- 43:49Speaker 2: but you got there. I can't tell. Oh is that
- 43:52Speaker 2: a picture?
- 43:52Speaker 1: Is that Marines?
- 43:53Speaker 2: Yeah? Okay, nice? Yeah, he's America two fifty over there.
- 43:57Speaker 2: I'm surprised he's not wearing a T shirt or something
- 43:59Speaker 2: like that today. But we usually spend the fourth of
- 44:03Speaker 2: July together, Alex. I think we're gonna do that again
- 44:05Speaker 2: this year. Yeah, all right.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Have you have you seen Team America World Police? Oh?
- 44:11Speaker 2: Yeah, of course. I mean you can't be our age
- 44:14Speaker 2: and have not said America World Police. Probably the first
- 44:18Speaker 2: one of the first like really inappropriate movies I ever watched.
- 44:21Speaker 1: What was the first R rated movie you ever watched?
- 44:24Speaker 2: Euro Trip?
- 44:25Speaker 1: That's a good one. Yeah, that's a good one.
- 44:27Speaker 2: I mean, like, well, it depends like R rated movies,
- 44:30Speaker 2: like a gangster mob movie.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Or like just well in appropriate. That was your first response,
- 44:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with that.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think it was probably euro Trip and
- 44:38Speaker 2: funny story, I had a TV in my room growing yeah,
- 44:42Speaker 2: and it had.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Uh oh no, if you saw it on cable, it
- 44:44Speaker 1: doesn't count. Why isn't that an not count because that's
- 44:47Speaker 1: not really an R rated movie, I mean.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Like an art I was. I'm not done telling the.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Story, okay, okay, so.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Let them finish. Yeah, right, I had I had a
- 44:58Speaker 2: TV in my bedroom growing up because I spoil and
- 45:01Speaker 2: it had HBO on it, and as a teenager does,
- 45:06Speaker 2: euro Trip was on, and so I put euro Trip
- 45:08Speaker 2: on and I fell asleep with euro Trip on on
- 45:12Speaker 2: my TV. And the next morning, my dad came into
- 45:15Speaker 2: my room, closed my door and was like, look, I
- 45:17Speaker 2: don't care what you watch, but your mother walked in
- 45:21Speaker 2: last night and there was naked women on your TV
- 45:26Speaker 2: and we just can't we can't let your mother see you.
- 45:29Speaker 1: So it was on cable, but it wasn't sense No.
- 45:31Speaker 2: It was on HBO.
- 45:32Speaker 1: It was, and it was just like we just your
- 45:36Speaker 1: mother can't see that because you didn't really watch it.
- 45:38Speaker 2: That's what I said. I said, I fell asleep. It
- 45:40Speaker 2: wasn't like I was trying to, you know, do anything
- 45:43Speaker 2: scandalous is what it is.
- 45:45Speaker 1: We watched uh first is my friend's like twelve or
- 45:48Speaker 1: thirteenth birthday something like that. He had a sleepover and
- 45:50Speaker 1: we watched rat Race.
- 45:52Speaker 2: That's good too.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Has since been downgraded to a PG thirteen rating, which
- 45:56Speaker 1: kind of hurts the story. But time it was rated.
- 45:59Speaker 2: R, Yeah that feels. I mean there's a couple of
- 46:01Speaker 2: scenes I can think of that are definitely are yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 2: like when they're on the.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Highway and yeah, yeah, the language is probably not quite
- 46:07Speaker 1: as bad, there's some but I also I just love
- 46:10Speaker 1: rat right, it's a great movie.
- 46:11Speaker 2: It's a great movie. Euro Trip or.
- 46:12Speaker 1: At the awesome cast too.
- 46:14Speaker 2: The first R movie that I saw in theaters, like
- 46:17Speaker 2: when I was legally allowed to, like go, was The
- 46:19Speaker 2: Hangover Part one.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Oh, first R rated movie in theaters. I was never
- 46:23Speaker 1: a big going to the movies guy. It might have
- 46:25Speaker 1: been what came out first. Project X are super bad,
- 46:31Speaker 1: super bad?
- 46:31Speaker 2: Yeah, those are bad around the same time, aren't they?
- 46:34Speaker 1: So it was probably I didn't go to the movies
- 46:37Speaker 1: to see those kind of movies. Like if I went
- 46:39Speaker 1: to the movies, i'd go see like.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Batman, Right, you see the block bus.
- 46:42Speaker 1: I wasn't a big in the theater guy. Like super
- 46:44Speaker 1: Bad was something like I'd go to the store and
- 46:46Speaker 1: rent it because we're old now super oh yeah, super
- 46:49Speaker 1: Bad was two thousand and seven. It was probably super Bad.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Superbad is great.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Super Bad. I was on the other night. I watched
- 46:54Speaker 1: like second half.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Of it, Big Time Celtics.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Holds up, because not all those movies hold up. Super
- 46:59Speaker 1: Bad that holds up, still funny.
- 47:01Speaker 2: It's great, it's a great movie. I would say all
- 47:04Speaker 2: those movies super Bad, Project DECKX, rat Race, rat Race
- 47:08Speaker 2: was a little bit.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Rat Race is different.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Well, so here's euro Trip, like those were all like
- 47:12Speaker 2: the first of those types of.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Euro Trip, the wilder. What was the one accepted?
- 47:18Speaker 2: Accepted?
- 47:19Speaker 1: With Jonah Hill and Justin Long, Just Long, I had
- 47:23Speaker 1: this debate with somebody, is super Bad our generation's American Pie?
- 47:32Speaker 1: I argue, it's the same generation, so and I would
- 47:36Speaker 1: take American Pie over super Bad.
- 47:38Speaker 2: But American Pie was the nineties and I was not
- 47:43Speaker 2: old enough to watch American Pie when it came out.
- 47:47Speaker 2: I watched it later, whereas I watched super.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Bad when it came out.
- 47:51Speaker 2: That came there, So I think that's I think they
- 47:53Speaker 2: are different.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, they certainly are different. I just don't want
- 47:56Speaker 1: to feel I actually, I don't know. That's a really
- 48:00Speaker 1: hard one to super Bad. It is a good, tough one,
- 48:02Speaker 1: super Bad or American Pie. I like American Pie better,
- 48:06Speaker 1: but super Bad's up there.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Super Bads probably. I probably like The.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Cool thing about American Pie is the sequels aren't bad. Yeah,
- 48:13Speaker 1: because the direct sequels like not like Naked Mile and
- 48:16Speaker 1: Green Book or whatever.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I just feel like super Bad was it hit home
- 48:21Speaker 2: for me? Super Bad I was that because I was
- 48:24Speaker 2: those kids in high school.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Green Books a different movie.
- 48:25Speaker 2: I'm thinking of something else I was. I was those
- 48:28Speaker 2: kids in high school.
- 48:29Speaker 1: I was Jonah Hill and McLevin where I was just cool.
- 48:34Speaker 1: I was just cool.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Enough to like talk to the popular kids. But I
- 48:38Speaker 2: wasn't a popular kid, you know what I mean. Like
- 48:40Speaker 2: I wasn't so much user that they like really didn't
- 48:43Speaker 2: want anything to do with me. But I also wasn't
- 48:45Speaker 2: super popular either. In the middle.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Loved Project as I was, Like that was kind of
- 48:52Speaker 1: the same thing because it's like the dorky kid is like,
- 48:54Speaker 1: what if I was the man? Yeah, never threw that
- 48:56Speaker 1: kind of party though.
- 48:58Speaker 2: I didn't. I almost did, and I got saved. That's
- 49:00Speaker 2: a story from another.
- 49:01Speaker 1: That's probably well that that kidden it's based on like
- 49:04Speaker 1: some kid in Australia, right, who did?
- 49:05Speaker 2: Is that true?
- 49:06Speaker 1: Well there was a whole run after people try to
- 49:08Speaker 1: throw those parties. Yes, it became like a cultural phenomenon
- 49:12Speaker 1: underrate and the the I think it was first appearance
- 49:14Speaker 1: of Miles Teller.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Oh. Also, if we're gonna go down this straw, we
- 49:16Speaker 2: have to mention Borat too. Well, that's a different more
- 49:20Speaker 2: like the like the category. Yes and no, that's a
- 49:24Speaker 2: different kind of movie. It is, but it but it's
- 49:27Speaker 2: it's not in that wheel.
- 49:28Speaker 1: So this is all like what is it coming of age? Right? Yes, yeah, Bora,
- 49:31Speaker 1: it's not a coming of age. I love Borat, but
- 49:34Speaker 1: it's a different movie. Would be more like do you
- 49:37Speaker 1: remember like epic movie? No, oh, epic movie was good.
- 49:40Speaker 1: It was one of those like parody movies.
- 49:43Speaker 2: I love that. Spaceballs is a great classic. All right,
- 49:48Speaker 2: let's get back to the phones.
- 49:49Speaker 9: Here.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Nate's in Connecticut. What's up, Nate, Nate Y? What's up
- 49:56Speaker 2: n Nate? Nate? All right, call us back, Nate. Well,
- 49:58Speaker 2: we'll get you on shot is in Vancouver. What's up, Sean?
- 50:02Speaker 8: I can't believe we couldn't hear Nate. Happy Canada Day.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Oh right, oh yes, Happy Canaday to you too.
- 50:09Speaker 8: Thanks. It's kind of funny because the US is playing
- 50:14Speaker 8: Bosnia on Canada Day, Canada is playing Morocco on Independence Day,
- 50:21Speaker 8: so it's kind of a strange coincidence. And you know,
- 50:26Speaker 8: the World the World Cup, I think can really help
- 50:29Speaker 8: when you have host nations in it, like back in
- 50:32Speaker 8: two thousand and two, Japan and Korea where the hosts,
- 50:36Speaker 8: and they did well. They went to the round of sixteen.
- 50:40Speaker 8: I think Korea. South Korea won their match in the
- 50:44Speaker 8: round sixteen, moved to the quarterfinals and they were ranked
- 50:47Speaker 8: fortieth where Japan was twenty six, and you know, maybe
- 50:50Speaker 8: we could have It's going to take a while, like
- 50:52Speaker 8: that was twenty four years ago, but now Japan is
- 50:57Speaker 8: ranked eighteen, South Korea is twenty five, so they moved
- 50:59Speaker 8: up bit. And right now Mexico is fourteen, United States seventeen,
- 51:04Speaker 8: Canada is thirty, and they're all probably as long as
- 51:07Speaker 8: there's not a huge upset going to move to the
- 51:09Speaker 8: round sixteen, maybe this will be a huge bump for
- 51:14Speaker 8: association football or soccer for our teams as well in
- 51:18Speaker 8: North America, so we'll see about that. I do have
- 51:23Speaker 8: a question as well Patriots related. It's not that huge,
- 51:28Speaker 8: but there is a rookie free agent, undrafted free agent,
- 51:35Speaker 8: Travis Shaw, who I'm wondering if he could make the team,
- 51:39Speaker 8: maybe play a little bit of nose tackle in short
- 51:43Speaker 8: yard situations. And onto the movie thing. You guys mentioned this,
- 51:47Speaker 8: so I thought of that. My first R rated movie
- 51:50Speaker 8: was in Stove, Vermont. I was on a ski trip
- 51:53Speaker 8: with my dad and my brother, and my brother joked that, hey,
- 51:57Speaker 8: why don't we see Looking for Mister Goodbar. My dad
- 51:59Speaker 8: doesn't do it research, doesn't know about movies. It's like, yeah, sure,
- 52:02Speaker 8: he thought us about a chocolate bar. So he went
- 52:05Speaker 8: to see Looking for Mister Goodbar with Diane Keaton, which
- 52:08Speaker 8: was very disturbing. It's about ano maniac whop who was
- 52:12Speaker 8: murdered at the end. And two years later, again my
- 52:16Speaker 8: father knows nothing about movies, we see Caligula because my
- 52:20Speaker 8: father thought it'd be historical, you know, learning about Roman history,
- 52:23Speaker 8: and it was the unrated, uncensored version in Quebec, and
- 52:28Speaker 8: it was very disturbing. There was one part where around
- 52:31Speaker 8: a man is castrated and Caligula feeds that to his dog.
- 52:35Speaker 8: So yeah, I don't recommend that that movie for anyone
- 52:39Speaker 8: under eighteen. All right, I'll leave you on that.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Thanks for the call of Sean. Yeah I was. I
- 52:44Speaker 2: didn't see a lot of rated art movies like that.
- 52:46Speaker 1: Yeah, not not my kind of I'm also just more
- 52:49Speaker 1: like comedy, action comedy movie or action.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe like Silence of the Lambs at some point,
- 52:53Speaker 2: but I never.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Saw that like gangster like gangster movie. I get good
- 52:57Speaker 1: films isn't really like an action movie or that part
- 52:59Speaker 1: isn't really an action movie, but like that kind of mob. Yes,
- 53:02Speaker 1: like mo movie, action movie, comedy, I don't do. It's weird.
- 53:05Speaker 1: I really don't like horror movies, except for whatever reason,
- 53:09Speaker 1: the original Halloween. There's something about Michael Myers that just I.
- 53:14Speaker 2: Halloween scares me. I'm not gonna lie Michael Myers.
- 53:17Speaker 1: I totally I said, just for a long time, everybody
- 53:21Speaker 1: compares Tom Brady to Darth Vader, like that's their movie character.
- 53:24Speaker 1: Com for Tom Brady, I know, But the real if
- 53:28Speaker 1: we're gonna do the movie, the movie character that I
- 53:31Speaker 1: think best represents Tom Brady is Michael Myers, because every
- 53:35Speaker 1: single time they think they've killed Michael Myers, he comes back.
- 53:39Speaker 1: He's meaner, better than ever. Like there was a trailer
- 53:42Speaker 1: for one of the new ones where they.
- 53:44Speaker 2: They block him in the basement and they block them.
- 53:45Speaker 1: In the basement and like the house on fire, and
- 53:48Speaker 1: then they turn around and they run out and as
- 53:50Speaker 1: they look back in the rearview mirror, there's Michael Myers
- 53:53Speaker 1: with a chainsaw standing on the front porch. That's Tom Brady.
- 53:57Speaker 2: I'm very bad about his take. I can hear that.
- 54:01Speaker 2: That was when that that movie series jumped the shark
- 54:04Speaker 2: with me, because when they locked him in the basement
- 54:06Speaker 2: and then like literally lit the house on fire, and
- 54:09Speaker 2: I think they lit a bomb too. Yeah, it exploded,
- 54:12Speaker 2: and he's just fine.
- 54:13Speaker 1: That's Tom Brady, man, that's Tom Brady. Can you can
- 54:17Speaker 1: get up twenty eight three in the Super Bowl in
- 54:19Speaker 1: the second half.
- 54:21Speaker 2: You haven't killed him yet? Uh you have anything to
- 54:25Speaker 2: say about?
- 54:25Speaker 3: Uh?
- 54:26Speaker 2: Was Travis?
- 54:27Speaker 1: I like Travis Shaw No mayor of the mayor of
- 54:29Speaker 1: Mayor of ding Dong City. Was the the Old Red Sox.
- 54:32Speaker 1: That was a Jaredkrabs Nick day for the Old Red
- 54:34Speaker 1: Sox first baseman, but the Patriots have a different Travis
- 54:37Speaker 1: Shaw legit nose tackle size. Uh, I know he's three forty.
- 54:41Speaker 1: I think he's like six two six three, something like
- 54:43Speaker 1: six five sorry, six five three thirty four. Guy was
- 54:47Speaker 1: a top He was a five star recruit coming out
- 54:50Speaker 1: of college or coming out of high school and just
- 54:53Speaker 1: never really got it to click. I think he dealt
- 54:57Speaker 1: with some injuries. He was at North Carolina for a
- 54:59Speaker 1: few years and he was a text last year, played
- 55:01Speaker 1: a little more at Texas. There's a lot of untapped potential.
- 55:04Speaker 1: They need a true nose tackle. They've obviously done a
- 55:06Speaker 1: tremendous job in player development at this position. Look at
- 55:09Speaker 1: how far Leonard Taylor came, how far Corey Durden came,
- 55:11Speaker 1: How far far some of these guys came when the
- 55:13Speaker 1: god here. So you know, they have a lot of smaller,
- 55:15Speaker 1: more athletic kind of pass rushing defensive tackles. They don't
- 55:18Speaker 1: have that real space eater, noseguard run stopper. I think
- 55:24Speaker 1: Show could be that guy. I didn't have him on
- 55:26Speaker 1: my last roster projection, admittedly, but I want to see
- 55:31Speaker 1: him pop in camp because I think it would be
- 55:32Speaker 1: fun to see you make a roster pushing if they
- 55:34Speaker 1: can get him where he needs to be, I do
- 55:37Speaker 1: think he'd be a good addition to the roster.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he does seem like the one guy that might
- 55:41Speaker 2: have the body type to be like a true space
- 55:43Speaker 2: eating nose tackle. I don't know if Corey Durdin or
- 55:46Speaker 2: a Josh Farmer or a Leonard Taylor like they're not
- 55:50Speaker 2: built like those wide bodied type of guys. Travis Shaw is.
- 55:53Speaker 2: I think that they really developed that position well, I
- 55:57Speaker 2: wonder how much. And I know he wasn't as intimately
- 56:01Speaker 2: involved as they would like him to be last year
- 56:03Speaker 2: for his obvious reasons. But Trell Williams has this very
- 56:07Speaker 2: very good reputation for developing defensive linemen and being a
- 56:10Speaker 2: really good defensive line coach. So I think that that
- 56:13Speaker 2: might have something to do with the fact that they
- 56:16Speaker 2: did find some diamonds in the ref last year at
- 56:18Speaker 2: that position. So I wouldn't be surprised if a guy
- 56:21Speaker 2: like a Travis Shaw or someone like that or is
- 56:24Speaker 2: able to pop on that defensive line. But that's how
- 56:27Speaker 2: they feel. I said this the other day because we
- 56:30Speaker 2: had a call about their interior defensive line depth. I
- 56:34Speaker 2: feel like they're bullish on that group, and I think
- 56:36Speaker 2: they should be. Yeah, you know, obviously it's a lot
- 56:38Speaker 2: of it's Milton Williams and Christian Barmore, but they're very
- 56:41Speaker 2: high on Corey Dirden, and I think they're just very
- 56:43Speaker 2: high in general on their pipeline and so that abder
- 56:46Speaker 2: to develop those types of players.
- 56:48Speaker 1: That's what might be tough for Shaw. Like we talked
- 56:49Speaker 1: about this with some of the udf A receivers, like that,
- 56:52Speaker 1: they're not bad players, it's just they might be too buried.
- 56:55Speaker 1: There might not be a pipeline with Ross Spot, but
- 56:58Speaker 1: I like Shaw's tools. I'd like team hang around on
- 57:00Speaker 1: the practice squad at least. You want a little lot
- 57:02Speaker 1: of Boston sports breaking news.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Sure, the Bruins, Yes.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Have acquired forward Kal vasin In in a twenty twenty
- 57:10Speaker 1: eight fourth round pick from the New York Rangers in
- 57:12Speaker 1: exchange four goaltender Yonas Corpusolo.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Oh, they got rid of Corpusola's contract.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and they didn't have to keep any money.
- 57:20Speaker 2: They and they didn't have to attach any draft picks
- 57:22Speaker 2: to it either. They got a draft pick they got
- 57:24Speaker 2: they got rid of Yonas Corpusolo and they didn't have
- 57:27Speaker 2: to salary dump him.
- 57:28Speaker 1: Is what you're I'm not seeing anybody report salary retention.
- 57:32Speaker 2: Wow. So that's impressive.
- 57:35Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe that comes out later.
- 57:36Speaker 2: But so Dpatro their h not Matt doll says they
- 57:39Speaker 2: dumped the entire contract. Wow. So their HL goalie Dphro
- 57:43Speaker 2: won like the best goalie the era.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Yeah, they just drafted two goalies.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Yeah, so they they have a really good goalie im
- 57:48Speaker 2: providence and.
- 57:49Speaker 1: They they like we just talked about the Patriots defensive tackle,
- 57:52Speaker 1: their goalie development system as much as they've struggled developed bob.
- 57:56Speaker 2: Is like Dante Scarnekia of the Bruins kind of Yeah.
- 57:58Speaker 1: No, they just churn out goalie talent left and right.
- 58:01Speaker 2: It's incredible broach. So, yeah, that's a good trade for
- 58:04Speaker 2: them if they weren't didn't have to attach any picks
- 58:06Speaker 2: to Yonis Corpusolo. Uh so Yeah. The Bruins JJ Perterca
- 58:10Speaker 2: as well earlier this week.
- 58:12Speaker 1: Not bad they're doing okay, Yeah, all right, it's still
- 58:15Speaker 1: need to center.
- 58:16Speaker 2: Speeding skills what they needed and that's what he brings
- 58:18Speaker 2: to the table. We'll see if they kind of overpaid
- 58:20Speaker 2: for him a little bit, two first round.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Picks, but they didn't. They didn't if you listened to like.
- 58:24Speaker 2: The protection on the Florida pick makes the protection the
- 58:26Speaker 2: Florida pick and the first round pick this year, like
- 58:30Speaker 2: I could.
- 58:31Speaker 1: I love listening to people who know about the other
- 58:33Speaker 1: drafts talk about the other drafts to see how I sound. Yeah,
- 58:37Speaker 1: DJ Bean and Pete Blackburn, Ron Felgrin Maz talking about it.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I guess this year's NHL draft was like nobody wanted
- 58:43Speaker 1: anything to do with it. The pick that the Bruins
- 58:45Speaker 1: traded the Jazz then ended up trading for like a
- 58:49Speaker 1: backup goalie, the Mammoth.
- 58:50Speaker 2: You mean the Mammoth.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know why I did that, but that
- 58:54Speaker 1: pick really wasn't worth anything.
- 58:55Speaker 2: This was a bad draft, Yeah that I mean. I
- 58:57Speaker 2: wasn't worried about their pick this year. The Florida be
- 59:00Speaker 2: four to one.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Being protected definitely helps because if that ends up being
- 59:03Speaker 1: the thirty something if pick whatever, guys scores twenty.
- 59:06Speaker 2: Five goals a year. Yeah all right.
- 59:07Speaker 1: Oh, and the Burns might lose Victor Robertson.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Yes, I did see that, but they made the Perturca
- 59:13Speaker 2: move so I think that that was That's true, that
- 59:15Speaker 2: was their move. All right, we're gonna take a quick
- 59:17Speaker 2: break and then we'll be back and talk about some nonsense.

- 1:02:30Speaker 1: deep cuts, Okay. I got a Malcolm Mitchell one. I
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: know that's not as deep.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: We'll get deeper here into the Alabama or something like that. Georgia.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Malcolm Mitchell, Malcolm, I thought you said Malcolm Butler. Yeah,

- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Malcolm Mitchell, Georgia. Yeah.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: I got Trey Nixon, Tolly Bantacaine. I'm sorry, I can't

- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Douglas went?
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: Liberty yep?
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Current Patriot Mike Brown from Miami of Ohio. What what
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: super Bowl winning quarterback attended Miami, OHI job? Come on,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: because what's the tribute questions? Like, there's like five colleges
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: that have had a president and a Super Bowl winning

- 1:03:26Speaker 1: lot of good BC ones, Dan Copen, Mike Cloud, Patriots legend,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Mike Cloud. You love Mike Cloud, Brandon Spikes. There was
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: an ed Lee one in here.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Spikes was awesome. That old school like you want an
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: old school linebacker?
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Linebackers linebacker? Marty Moore is another one. Uh u r
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: s ed Lee? Got a Dalton can Kate, Dalton Keene, sorry,

- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Jeremy Gallon.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Where he went Michigan?
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Did he?
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Oh that's right.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Calvin Anderson? Where Calvin Anderson go to college? I don't
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: even know that.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Off the top of the head, I do, and I
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: can't think of it.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: I want to say Colorado, No Texas.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: I knew it was one of the big schools.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: You know Ben Coates? Can you give Ben Coates College? Livingstone? Livingstone,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: living Stone?
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Never would I think he's in Let me double check this.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Uh never mind, I thought he was in college football fan.
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: Uh?
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: What other good ones did I get here? Got a
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Chase Winovich, remember Ricky Jane Francois. Didn't he own like
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: a bunch of Dungan donuts? Isn't that the whole thing?
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: When he was here? A bunch of Oregon fans. Apparently
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: my mention, it's got a brock lampy shout out another
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Dan Copen and uh that's all the fun was. Yeah,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I owned a bunch of Drake Mays, a bunch of I.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Don't have a favorite college football team.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Isn't it USC?
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: I guess if I had to pick?
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: All right, So, who's your favorite ever patriot from USA?
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Favorite ever patriot from US? See?
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Oh, Willie, Yeah, that's a good one, will e Beginn
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: for sure. But they don't have a ton of Trojans. Honestly,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: no they don't. I'm gonna pull up the read. I'll
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: pull it up.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: I guess play here for a gimme, Willie. So I
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: saw Juju play live in college. Thought at USC that
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: was a really good Yeah he was in college. Yeah,
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: it was a really good team. Uh. So I shouted
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: out DraftKings earlier because that's where I pulled our over
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: unders from. So I'll give them a read here. Whether
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: you're in the game or betting on the game, you'll
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: need a game plan. DraftKings Sports Book, Divisial sports betting
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: partner of the New England Patriots, provides you with everything
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: you need to build your personal betting game plan so
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: you can get in on all the action while practicing
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: safe bets. Was it DraftKings dot com slash responsible dash
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: gaming to learn more about all the safe betting tools
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: DraftKings has to offer. I always think it's ironic that
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: I read that and they do not let me gamble
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: on the games. But you know what, so is what
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: it is.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: That's kind of surprising. Corner pro foot barferends. Only nineteen
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: USC players, Yeah, played for the Patriots.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: It's not a big one obviously, oh so early on
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: the biggest one.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: So there's one play will We played the second most
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: games of a UFC alum in New England.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: It was first Moisy to Tupu Moisy So to.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Tupoo McGuinness, Larry McGrew, who was another linebacker. I actually
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: don't know who that is. Uh, Sam Bam Cunningham is
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: a good one, yep. Pat Harlow had a stint here.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Junior Seo, Nelson Agalore, Matt Castle is not a bad poll.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Yeah, all those are good ones. I forgot about Junior Seo. Yeah,
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Junior said, and then that's kind of it. List drops
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: off after that. Junior say I would have been in
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: the running if the I mean WILLI is an all
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: time great Patriots A little different.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Junior sales up there, and I mean, we're too
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: young for Tatupu or Sam Cunningham or Larry.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: From what I from what I hear, I'm not in
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: these meetings, in these committees yet, but the Patriots Hall
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: of Fame Committee, Noisy to Tupou always gets brought up
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: as like the first one of the first real ambassadors
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: of the brand, you know, one of the first stars
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: that kind of grew the Patriots and made them a
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: relevant name in the area and that sort of thing.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: He was a big part of the brand expanding.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean nineteen seventy eight, so he was on
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: God here in ninety seventy eight, was on some good teams, right,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: would make sense, all right? His son played for the Seahawks.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Some emails we got from Don and Philly he was
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: going off the quarterback tiers. Okay. In a hypothetical, if
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Drake May goes one to one in the twenty twenty
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: four draft, are we taking Jane Daniels or Caleb Williams.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: I'm probably taking Caleb Williams. I my concern at the
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: time with Daniels was the injuries. Those have kind of
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: born out.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Like he has struggled to stay healthy a little bit.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I think Daniels has probably shown you more old like
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: shown you more. It's kind of like what we just
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: talked about with Shroud. I think Daniel's probably shown you
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: a little more of a ceiling. But I think some
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: of those injury concerns have come to be shown as legit.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: So I'll go Caleb Williams, but I don't think you'd
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: be wrong for taking Jade Daniels.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: So it's two very different types of quarterbacks. I feel
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: like Caleb Williams is a highlight reel quarterback. Jadan Daniels
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: is much more consistent. I would say that as a passer.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: You know, he's a He's a true, accurate pocket passer
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: type of quarterback, whereas Caleb has got these un incredible
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: big time throws and wow plays, but maybe doesn't have
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: that kind of consistency. I'll just stay consistent. I had
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: Caleb as the number one quarterback in that draft. Yeah,
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: I'll stay consistent with that and say Caleb, but if
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: I knew what I knew now, I do.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Knowing what you know now, knowing what I know now,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I think i'd still take Caleb Williams.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: He's been healthier, that's for sure. Yeah. I just think
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: that he's what three years younger, a couple of years
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: younger at least.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Yeah, So he's still got some more room because that
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: was the other thing with Jane Daniels.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: He was going to come in and have a high floor,
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: but he was what he was, what a twenty five
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: year old rookie something like that, Yeah, Jane Daniels.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so I think, Yeah, Jane Daniels is twenty five now,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: so he was twenty three when he got drafted, and
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: caleberiam was twenty four. He's only only a year younger.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: He needed three years of college. He must have done
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: a prep year.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: All right. Another question here on Christian Gonzalez. That's a
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: little bit of an interesting one. The question basically is,
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: would you guys prefer that the Gonza negotiations drag into
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: training camp or just give him a sweetener for twenty
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: twenty six and kick the can down the road. Uh, Like,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: let's say Gonzalez reports on July twenty four, if they
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: still don't have a new contract, you just give him
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: a raise for twenty twenty six and try to get him.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Out there, or that would worry me about the long term.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: If that's what they do, then I'm worried. So they
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: couldn't get a long term deal together. Is there a
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: chance they lose him like that would worry me?
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: I don't know if So signs that.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I also don't know if Gonzalz would do it.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: I don't think he does. So he has no long
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: term security.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Look, I'd rather have Gonzales than not. And if it's
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: that or him holding out into like August, then I
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: think you got to get him on the field. But
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: if it's a week, it can't not ideal. The long
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: term security should be the focus. I think the short
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: term thing is not worth because he's he can't not
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: play because then he doesn't get your service time.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think that that strategy tends to happen
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: with more veteran players that are more towards the end
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: of their careers instead of the beginning, where it makes
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: sense for the team to not commit long term to
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: that player. But the player is worth more than what
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: he's being paid, and so you just give him a
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: little bit more to market correct his contract and everybody's happy.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: I don't know of a lot of guys looking for
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: their rookie extensions or their second contracts in the NFL
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: that would take just a sweetener for one season. Yea,
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: you know, that doesn't really seem like that makes much
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: sense from the Gonzales side to do that still doesn't
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: have any long term security, right Yeah, this is a
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: question from Dave and Maine. He said a little off topic,
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: but Dimitrius crown Over at Patriots rookie Demetrious crown Over
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: played tight end in high school and he's wondering if
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: maybe the Patriots to replace Julian Hill could play some
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: six offensive line packages. I have no doubt that they might.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: I don't know if he'll be crown Over that gets there.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: It might be Lomu. But either way, I do think
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: that league wide, that's becoming more and more popular to
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: go to six offensive lineman. I'll give you know these
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: things ebbs and flow. So it's a little bit of everybody,
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: but Detroit. I would say it would probably be the
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: number one team that did this the most, with Dan
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Skipper and Ben Johnson playing six offensive lineman definitely has
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: made a comeback. The Patriots were really really efficient with
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: six offensive linemen on the field last year with ay
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Or Munford as a sixth offensive lineman. So to the
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: emailer's point, it doesn't necessarily need to be the most
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: talented six guy like they are. Munford was a the
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: squad guy, bounced around. Wasn't exactly you know, Orlando Pace
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: out there or anything like that. But I think that
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: that's going to be a big part of it of
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: their offense, especially I agree with the emailer's premise, especially
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: now that they don't have Julian Hill.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Yeah, they're going to do a lot of it. It's
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: that's going to be kind of an interesting battle in camp.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Is not really a battle, just kind of us observing.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: But low Mover's crown over for that third tight end role.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: I want to talk a little Celtics. Let's do it.
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: So.
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: The Celtics today signed Mitchell Robinson from the New York Knicks.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: I love that they poached him from the Knicks. That's
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: always a good thing to poach him for him arrival.
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: But what do you think of the move. I think
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: that they were going to lose use the mid level.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: I think at some point this offseason. The question that
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: I have, and I think the question that everybody should have,
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: is is there a move coming us a trading Jalen
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Brown to now get under the luxury attacks again?
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Now three?
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Right, So they could trade at Sam Hauser or you know,
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: something like that and get under it without losing a
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: big piece like Jalen Brown. But it does feel like
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: they want to be under the tax. This puts them
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: temporarily over the tax. So one would think that there's
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: a move coming to get back under the tax. But
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: just in terms of the player himself in a vacuum,
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: really in a nice upgrade over their center depth last year.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I Brad Stevens said it, So this isn't you
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: yelling at me for liking old school basketball. They needed
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: more of a presence at the rim. Yeah, Mitchell Robinson
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: absolutely protection rebounded Bob threat All. Yeah, so they've needed
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: an old school center for a long time. I think
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Kate is okay. But I mean, we saw what happened
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: in the playoffs even an upgrade there, and we saw
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Mitchell Robinson did in the playoffs against Joel Embiid and
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: against Wemby and some of these other guys. So if
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: they're keeping Jayalen Brown, I like it. I think he's
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: a really good piece to add to that group. I'd
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: still like to see him ad another guard. I don't
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: know how much Mike Connelly's given you a thirty nine
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: years old and maybe they trade Howser for a cheaper guard.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Maybe that's what ends up being. They have a trade
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: exception I think they can use. They do maybe the
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: don't want to burn the whole thing just bigger than that, So.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: If they use the trade exemption, they'd be hard capped
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: over the first apron.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Well you can use what I mean. I hate the
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: NBA cappy. It's very confusing, and Baseball's gonna use the
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: same one. And I'm already annoyed. But if they keep
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Jaylon Brown, I like to move. If they move on
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: from Jayalen Brown, I don't really care what they do,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna be annoyed.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: So I agree with you. I This move to me
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: feels like a move because Mitchell Robinson is not a
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: game changing signing, where like that's like a second star
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: next to Jason Tatum. Like, Mitchell Robinson's a really nice,
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: complimentary piece, and I do really like the fact that
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: him and Nimi Kita are pretty similar players, so they
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: kind of that overlap is going to allow them to
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: kind of replace each other and kind of split the
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: minutes up at that sound position. I don't know if
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: Mitchell Robinson is a guy that you want to play
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: thirty five minutes a game because you can't shoot, so
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: the hack image thing comes into the equation.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: They can each match huge free throws.
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: He doesn't stretch the floor at all. He doesn't really
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: have an offensive game beyond catching lobs and put back dunks, right,
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: So I don't know if he's truly that guy. You know,
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: I think that he's best cast behind the center like
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Carl Anthony Towns like he was on the Knicks, where
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: he's the second center. But if you put him and
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: Imi kid It together and kind of get one forty
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: eight minute center out of those two guys, I think
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: that that that's good. And you don't really have to
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: change your playing style too much because they're pretty redundant,
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: so you don't have to change the way that you
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: play when one's on the court ones off the court.
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: Mitchell Robinson's a really, really good defender, like an elite
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: NBA defender, and it can really guard all five positions.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: There's a couple possessions where you see him do that
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: in the NBA Finals where he guards all five guys
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: on the court like he's a really elite defensive player,
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: but he doesn't doesn't move the needle much offensively. So
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: if you're trading Jalen, then you still are replacing a
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: lot of the offense. Like you need to find that
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: thirty points a game someplace else. Right from Mitchell Robinson.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: So interesting time for the Celtics. I'll say it'll until
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: I'm blue in the face. I would not trade Jalen Brown.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: I would not chage jail In Brown. Nope, I would
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: not trade Jalen Brown. I am very, very interested to
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: see where this goes out in terms of Bill Chisholm,
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: the new ownership group and how their approach to the
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: salary structure in the NBA with the aprons and the
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: luxury tax, it makes some semblance of a sense I
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: can understand it to be out of the tax to
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: get rid of the repeater tax penalties by being out
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: of the tax two years in a row. So the
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: rubber really won't meet the road until next off season. Like,
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: if they don't spend over the tax again next off
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: season after resetting it, then we can start to really
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: be skeptical. But I think that this new world that
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: we live in in the NBA, with the aprons and
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: with the taxes and all that kind of stuff, really
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: it brings into question. If the Celtics have two guys
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: making sixty million dollars a year in Jalen Brown and
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: Jason Tatum, do you have if you don't want to
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: be a first Apron or second Apron team consistently, do
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: you have the salary cap space to build out a
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: roster that can win a title around basically, let's call
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: it one hundred and twenty to one hundred and thirty
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: million dollars tied up in two players. I think the
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: basketball people are telling you you don't. I don't know.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: I'm a little skeptical of that. I'm a little skeptical
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: of the whole thing. Like the basketball penalties. I've read
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: all of the don't man's plain it to me. I
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: read it all. I understand, I understand the penalties are
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: the aprons. To me, it still comes back to the
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: number one thing though, the penalty of being over the tax,
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: and then the Aprons is money. That's the penalty. Like
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: you want to tell me that they freeze your draft
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: picks seven years into the future and that you can't
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: add to the roster rather than like minimum guys and
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: draft picks. Well, guess what if you have the roster
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: that's over the apron, you should have a championship caliber roster.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: So do you why do you need to add players
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: to it? Like you you shouldn't need to add players
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: to a team that's built like the twenty twenty four
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Boss and Celtics. You should be a championship team. So
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: I just I would I'm very cautious about all that.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: I want to know more about why exactly they want
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: to trade Jalen Brown. Is that this relationship has run
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: its course? Or is that an APRONS thing? Is that
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: a tax thing?
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: Is that?
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: What'ney?
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: Kind of crazy? How we've gone from Jalen Brown is
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: gonna want out from the Celtics to the Celtics want
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: to be done with Jalen Brown. We might have had
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: the whole thing backwards from the beginning. It wasn't Jalen
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Brown that was done with the relationship. It was the
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: Celtics which would be wild. It would be what some
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: of the reporting was last night.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: It's interesting too, I would say from you know this
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: type of stuff. I know it's not an NBA show,
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: but this type of stuff is what fascinates us on
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: the football side of things, and this is that type
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: of show.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: If you think we only nerd out about like roster
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: building and all of that with football, and we maybe
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: go a little bit deeper with football, but fascinated by
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: all of it. I even I got a FIFA yesterday
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: was on sale.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: I saw that. I was like Trifia for a little
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: bit before the college.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: Game comes out. I don't I don't understand how the
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: roster building works in soccer. That's a whole other thing.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: So soccer's different.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Good trade for tis.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: Soccer is different because it's an open market, it's right,
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: So there's a transfer window and there's transfer fees. There
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: are there is trades every once in a while. Uh,
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: but it's not it's not set up at all the
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: same because the leagues are in different countries, right, so
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: it doesn't really work the same way.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: It's different leagues, yes, right, it's and they're equal. It's
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: not like the NFL in the U.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: Right, So back to the Celtics so quickly the point
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: I was making in terms of the roster building thing
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: of it. I do find it the impact of the
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: aprons to be fascinating because it feels to me like
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: this lack of Jaalen Brown market is stepping from You
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: have to be a lot more intelligent about where you're
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: putting thirty five percent of your cap, right, you can't
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: like handing out these supermax contracts like they were doing before.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: All this really kind of started and started to have
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: an impact. It was a lot easier for teams to
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: digest those contracts salary cap wise and tax wise than
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: it is now. So I think some of the reason
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: why Jalen Brown doesn't have as big of a market
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: as people thought he might have is because it's a
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: lot harder to fit sixty million dollars into your salary
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: cap than it was five years ago. So in some
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: ways I think that the NBA is going to see
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: a course correction where if you don't if you're not
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: like a top bona fide, top five player in the NBA,
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: you might not be worth the supermax anymore. Right, you
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: might not be worth the five thirty.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: I hated the concept of the max contract to begin
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: with because I think it bails out stupid teams, right,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: it forces you it, it prevents you from overpaying to
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: a certain extent to land a player. Yeah, like I
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: remember this with Gordon Hayward. I never thought Gordon Hayward
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: was worth like the maximum amount you'd pay an NBA player,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: but he was just good enough that a team was
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: going to pay him all the way up to that.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: So I've love see him get rid of the max contract.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: But that's another conversation.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: I just think it's fascinating how if we're going to
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: live in a world where basically you can't be over
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: the luxury tax for multiple years and there's just no
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: owners All thirty teams are in agreement that we're just
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: not going to do that, and that means that the
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: contracts at some point have to be adjusted and teams
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: have to be smarter about where they're spending their money.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: So players that are fringe, you know, second all NBA
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: in his best year, players you know, last year, Jalen
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: Brown was sixth in MVP voting, But he's not jokicch
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: or Sga or Wemby or even Tatum. In the hierarchy
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: of the NBA, you can't pay those guys that anymore.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: That's that might not be the going rate, but as
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: of right now, all those contracts have been grandfathered in
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: to this new system. Right So that was I think
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: where the NBA maybe did a little bit of a
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: misstep with the new salary cap system is that they
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: just did it overnight. There was no like easing into
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: the Apron era. Like all of a sudden, these restrictions
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: just hit and everybody that had signed a contract before
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: the aprons were a thing still existed, and so the paid.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: The Celtics were still on the hook for sixty million
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: dollars for Jalen Brown, but that was being given to
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: him in a different era of the NBA, And it
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: doesn't matter. It's a complicated system, though, and I've spent
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: way too much of money. It's a mess.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: It's it's a complete and total mess. The NFL systems complicated.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: I don't love the NFL system. I like the NHLs.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: You get paid six million a year, that means you
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: get paid six million a year and you count six
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: million against cap right period. I think there's like some
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: very small city, say the NHL.
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: But in American sports. I don't know enough about European
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: sports and the answer to this, but in American sports,
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: the NHL is the only hard cap, the.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: Only real well, the NFL kind of not really.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: The NFL does not have a hard cap. Our NFL
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: you can spend, you can pay to spend over the camp.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: There's a hard cap on salary. I guess there's technically
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: a hard cap, but it's not.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: There's a hard cap that can be circumvented. Yeah. Like
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: when I think of a soft cap, I think of
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: the NBA, where you can pay, you can literally most
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: a salary that exceeds.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: This same twenty five of the thirty teams.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I don't think in the NFL you can't have salary
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: that you can't tay cap. You can't. Now there's right,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: there's ways around that, a bonus and then you get
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: into the non guaranteed contracts and all that. I will
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: say there is one rule. I think it was Mount McCarthy.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: I was talking about this the other day. I guess
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: some soccer leagues have this because they do have sort
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: of a cap thing. But you get one uncapped player,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: that's the thing. In soccer, like you get one player
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: that doesn't impact the salary cap.
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: So in the MLS you get a DPA designated player
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: that can be I don't know exactly what the rules are.
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: This is just the MLS. I don't know about No,
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: I think this is in Europe. So I don't know
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: about that in Europe. But I the MLS has this
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: because they set it up this way.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: Maybe it's just the MLS because the one players of
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: Beckham might make more than the entire rest of the roster, right,
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: but they wanted to give players the opportunity to sign
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: a David Beckham, to sign Robin Libandowski I think signed
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: with Chicago recently to sign Who's the player that I'm
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: blanking on right now, that.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: Is Messi is in talks now about coming to the MLS.
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: Messi's in the MLS, but the MLS salary cap is
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: set way lower than like what Lionel Messi's salary is
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: with Miami, I believe. So that's the DP thing. I
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: think the revs are are interested in that in one
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: of those players. This offense.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: Oh no, here, this is the Premier League. This was
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: added like ten years ago, similar to the designated player
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: in the MLS, the player so designated, which the Premiership
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: calls excluded player, has to meet one of the following
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: through criteria, played at least two full seasons with the
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: club before his designation, played outside the Premiership before his designation,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: or included in some other thing.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: I don't know enough about how it works in the
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: European soccer leagues. I just know that in the MLS, Oh,
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: this is their rugby league, this is the I don't
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: think that that exists.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: In European soccer. But I could some an email or
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: caller who to follows it closer.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Anyway, That would be an interesting thing, especially for the
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: NBA to do, because it would allow you to keep
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: these superstars in place. Right if the Celtics could just say, hey,
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: Jason Tatum doesn't count against salary cap.
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: Or at least maybe maybe you get like a partial break.
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: It's got to count.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: See, it puts the onus on the owner.
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: So this I think, you know, to relate it to
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: the football, because I'm sure some people are rolling their
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: eyes that we're talking about basketball so much. There have
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: been conversations in the league about doing this with quarterback right,
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: the quarterback cap and having the quarterback only count sixty
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: five seventy five, eighty five percent of their salary count
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: against the cap because the quarterbacks are going to be
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: making seventy million icy good ones.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Where the quarterback salary there's a separate salary quarter back
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: salary cap, which is basically you have to decide if
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: you're going to have a quarterback make like the maximum,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: and there is no max, but you basically have to
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: have any other quarterbacks on a rookie deal. You couldn't, so,
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: for instance, the Patriots could not keep Drake May and
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: Tommy DeVito to the extension they just sign him to.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: So I think that that's too complicated to me. I
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: would just make it. I actually can see the premise
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: of this, because the quarterbacks deserve to make what the
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: market value is of them. But it's obviously if you're
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: going to be paying a quarterback seventy million dollars a year,
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: that's just such a large percentage of the cap. And
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: it's it's not even just that it's a large percentage
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: of the CAB. It's so much larger than any other position.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: It's just like so out of whack. I like the
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: idea of maybe only partially counting the quarterback.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: That could make sense to remember.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: So let's say your quarterback only counts eighty percent against
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: the salary cap versus everybody else counts one hundred, you know,
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: so you get a little bit of a tax break
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: essentially for paying a franchise quarterback seventy million dollars a year.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: I think that would make sense.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: It just seems like that's simpler than a different cap
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: and like having different rules completely for the quarterback. This
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: is just very simple, all right, Let's get back to
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: it's gonna hate that the edge rushers. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: that's the problem is that those other positions, but a.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: Good edge rusher opens up more money for the rest
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: of them.
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: A good edge rusher like Miles Garrett's is the top
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: of the market at forty right somewhere around there. That's
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: almost half of what the Drake may is gonna make
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: in two years, you know, So it is different. Eldred
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: is in North Carolina. What's up, Eldred? Hey?
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: Tell us how y'all doing good?
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: Hey?
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: I got a question for you.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: I know I'm a selfish fan too, Evan, don't tread Jalen.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: I mean, we lose on any end.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: I don't care what these make gun though, okay, gun
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: contract and quota Nick. If the Patris go to this
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: route where they stand him, give a little bump for
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: this year and then put him on the franchise or whatever,
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: and then into my two years because make contract gonna
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: come up. You got to pay him seventy then they
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: trade Gunzo. That'd be the dumbest mistake I ever heard of.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Anybody make their comment, so what do you think?
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: And I'd take it off the air, thank you, thanks
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: for the college.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: So basically they're saying, take Gonzo year to year, so
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: you have to pay may then trade Gonzo.
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a bad idea. It's a bad idea. But
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: I can't sit here and totally rule it out, not
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: because I have any inside information, it's just what happens.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: You can rule it out because I think if you
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: get to the point where you're tagging Gonzo, he's not
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: gonna play well.
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: I also think, you know, so if you're tagging Gonzo,
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: then you're trading him on the tag yeah, which means
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: you're not gonna get the value, Like you don't get
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: the same value as trading him if he's under and.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: That would be you'd have what three more years of
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: them because he's going into his year.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: You'd have yeah, three more years, Yeah, this year, the
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: fifty two more of them. Well, you're trading on you.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: There's no way he'd play on the tag. There's no
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: way he'd play on the tag. I mean, and I
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: guess he gonna do sit out the whole year. Maybe
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: it's still thirty million dollars that is is it worth
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: or something like?
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: Is it worth that for him? Is it?
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: Would it be worth that for the Patriots to keep
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: him around when he's holding out collective fines and then
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: lose him for nothing? Or would at that point you'd
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: have to trade him? No, they should be trying to
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: get don't You don't dink around with player like this.
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: I'm not as concerned about it, but just looking at that,
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: just we were talking about them earlier, like look at
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: Kansas City. Kansas City has done has made all sorts
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: of moves since they've paid Patrick Mahomes to not pay
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: the second guy. They've traded Tyreek Hill, They've now traded
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Trent McDuffie. They kind of just aren't paying. You know,
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: Chris Jones got paid. I guess, but that's interior defensive
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: lineman money. Travis Kelcey was probably getting paid at some
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: point at the top of the tight end market, but
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: that again, that's tight end, which is one of the
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: least valuable positions in the league in terms of you know,
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: top end salary. So paying a number one corner and
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: a franchise quarterback is going to be a lot of money.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: But my guess is that they are going to make
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: that work elsewhere. Like I don't you know, we're talking
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: a lot about these two guys getting paid together. Christian
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: Gonzalez is going into his fourth year. If they give
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: him an extension this offseason, then that extension kicks in
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: in twenty twenty seven. Drake May will then be signed
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: in twenty twenty seven and not kicking until twenty eight.
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: So you have, I say this all the time, you
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: have two full years until you're paying both May and Gonzales.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: At the same time, you have this season coming up
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: in twenty twenty six, and you have the twenty twenty
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: seven season, so it's not till twenty twenty eight that
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: they're both going to be making top of the market money.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: So you still have two more seasons to worry about this.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: So that's like where I come from with it, is
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: like this is not everybody makes this out to be,
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: like this is an immediate problem facing them right now.
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: They have to plan for it, don't get me wrong.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: And Elliott Wolf, I'm sure is thinking about things two
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: to three years down the line just like this. But
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: they don't have to pay both those guys top of
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: the market until twenty twenty eight. So we're we're still
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: have a couple of this year window here. Let's remember
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: the reason why I bring that window up. Let's remember
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: in twenty twenty eight, is Christian Barmar still going to
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: be under that big contract?
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: Probably not.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: Milton Williams still gonna be under that big contract. Is
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: AJ Brown still going to be under that big contract?
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: Is that the year that AJ Brown's do like fifty
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: million in dead They're gonna three work his deal.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: Right, But like so all of these guys that they're
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: paying now right at the top of the market, Milton Williams,
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: AJ Brown, Carlton, David who else, By twenty twenty eight,
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: all those guys are coming off rights.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: They're paying Hunter Henry will be off the books at
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: eleven million. Win will be off the books at seventeen
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: and a half million, right Byered at nine million, and
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: that's two years before. That's in twenty seven, pending free
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: agents after twenty seven. Morgan Moses at ten million, splaying
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: at thirteen, Land at eighteen and a half, Carlton Davis
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: at twenty two. So now here's the thing. You're not
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: necessarily going to replace twenty two million dollar Carlton Davis
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: with a twenty two million dollar cornerback, right right, So
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: this is is where they have to start hitting on
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: draft picks.
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: So Melton Williams that'll be the final year of his
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: contract at thirty one, will be the twenty twenty eight season.
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: Christian Barmore's final year will be twenty four point six
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: and twenty twenty eight. Yeah, both those guys will be
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: going into the final year of their contract.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: I don't know how much guaranteed moneys left at that point. Right.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: So, and you talk about Mike onn Wnu, Hunter, Henry,
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: some of these other guys that you're bringing up, Alex,
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: those are guys that you need to draft and replace.
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Right, That's where you're looking at Eli Rarerian Right when
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: it comes to Carlton Davis. That's probably drafting a corner,
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: drafting somebody drafting a guard. Next year with Morgan Moses,
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: you're talking about Kleb Loomu. So you know I named
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: a couple of linebackers in there. They got that started
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: this year with Obizor.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: So to me, that's where the money comes from. Yeah,
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: the money not, in my opinion, doesn't need to come
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: for Drake, from Drake May or Christian Gonzales. It's gonna
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: come from these veteran players that are going to age
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: out of the Patriots roster by that.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: You you had basically two years with this core you
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: had last year, in this year, and then starting at
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: twenty twenty eight, there'll be some more roster overhall because
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: they're maximizing this for May's rookie contract.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: That's where we're at right now.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: This is but that it's only a short window.
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so they're gonna need to just like a lot
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: of teams that run into this issue, eventually, they're gonna
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: need to draft and replace these guys. Robert Splaine, Hunter,
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: Henry Carlton Davis, Harold Landry. Those players are going to
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: have to be replaced with cheaper younger players, right, because
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: you're not gonna be able to spend money on all
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: of it if you're up. Yeah, exactly, all right, Dave
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: is in Connecticut. What's up, Dave?
- 1:33:55Speaker 6: Hey?
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: What's up?
- 1:33:55Speaker 6: Guys?
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: Late Amy? Yes, okay, I've been out following you guys
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: since way before Catch twenty two. Awesome, love you guys
- 1:34:07Speaker 5: for a very long time. Just wanted to say that
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: real quick.
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: I apologize if I ask anything that you guys have
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: talked about because I'm not really listening now. I listen
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: to you later on usually. So I have two things
- 1:34:19Speaker 5: for you. One is a question that I've been waiting
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: for the off season to ask because a couple of
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: friends of mine and myself I've talked about it, and
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: it has to do with quarterback armstring. So, for example,
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: not to pick on Matt Jones. He has quote unquote
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: a weak arm, but if he was to stand next
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: to Drake Me, he doesn't look any smaller than him.
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: Or even take someone like Jaden Daniels, then there's a
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: rail but has plenty of arm strengths. So is that
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: really about how strong they are? Is that more mechanics thing?
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: Is that maybe he's more accurate, throwing it slower or
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: something like that. And the second thing I have for
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: you is I've been thinking about the Super Bowl and
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: how they're saying that that loss was probably the best
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: thing for Drake May and I remember thinking throughout last
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: season I wish he had a little bit more of
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: that maniacal gradius, I want to kill you type of mentality.
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: So what do you think about that first game against Seattle?
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: If they were to win that game, would that be
- 1:35:24Speaker 5: better for them from a confidence perspective or would it
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: be better for them if they're going to lose any games,
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: for them to lose that game and make them more
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: wanting of, you know, firing them up more so to speak.
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: And I'll leave you with that, guys to discuss. Thanks
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: for everything you guys do.
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: Love you.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: Thanks say appreciated As I lose the mouse here as
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: the second part.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: First, it's always better to win the game if they
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: need that, if they need that motivation to compete for
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: a Super Bowl, they were never getting far anyway, It's
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: always better to win the game. They should be plenty
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: motivated enough.
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: So I would like to think that it was the
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: best thing that happened for Drake May. But if we're
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: just being honest, winning the game probably would have been better.
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: The history of quarterbacks losing a Super Bowl and coming
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: back and winning the Super Bowl is not very good.
- 1:36:14Speaker 6: Ye.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: Now, most of them don't get there as young as
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: he did.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: So recent example does help. Jalen Hurts, Yeah, lost his
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: first time, won the second time. Besides Jalen Hurts, do
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: you know the last quarterback to do that was Elway
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: in the early and made it in the eighties and
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: then made it in one in the nineties, So there
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: was a what he made in the mid eighties, right,
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: like I want to say, like eighty four, eighty five
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: like that, and then didn't win again until like ninety
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: six ninety seven, right, So there's a huge gap between
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: those two super bowls. But he Elway Hurts, and I
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: think there's two others that have done it. Four quarterbacks
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: I think in the history of the NFL have lost
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: the Super Bowl and then come back and won the
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: Super Bowl. Yeah, not a very good track round now, No,
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: it's not. But winning the super Bowl would have been
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: more better. Yeah, always better to win the game. The
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: first question is a good cashway to you question. I
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: think that there's always a percentage of things like that
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: that is physically God given. Yeah, arm strength is definitely
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: one of those things. That being said, there are margins
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: that you can play with mechanic.
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: Mechanically, like how much torque can you create? I think
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: actually both can probably be answered the same way in
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: terms of the physical side of it and the mechanics
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: side of it. You look, and I'm staying next to
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: each other, and I think a lot of people look
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: from the waist up. Yeah, it's just like a picture.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: It's lower body, right, You're you're planting and pushing off
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: your legs. Like every time somebody talked to people and
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: like the first time they saw Tom Brady, person's like,
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: I don't realize how big he is is, how big
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: his legs are. Right, So it's it's that tall, dude,
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: it's that lower driving than tall and arm length than right.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: It's it's physics, it's how much how much torque can
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: you generate? It's like the Trevishey effect. Right, you have
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: longer arms, You're gonna be able to throw the ball
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: harder because you're creating more And we could get into
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: physics terms. I don't understand, but you get what I'm saying, Like, so.
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: There's a mechanical chain, and I think that when you
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: talk to quarterbacks coaches, especially guys that train quarterbacks, not
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: necessarily NFL quarterback coaches, but you know guys that actually
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: do this, like your Tom Houses and things like that,
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: they talk a lot about the mechanical chain. It starts
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: with your feet. Yeah, so there's really like four points
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: I would say of action. There's your feet, There's your hips,
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: which is why you see Dak Prescott doing it. Hips
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: are really important. So that's the snap and the hips
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: thing that he does. Pregame.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: That was the thing that Joe Milton as much as
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: they talk about lower body, and I probably should have
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: finished that thought, Like part of what made Joe Milton
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: so crazy is he would make these seventy yard throws
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: off platforms, so he would have his legs. If you
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: go back, you watch Joe Milton really let the ball go.
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: Watch his hips. He flips his body so fast, so
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: violently that he creates all that torque and it helps
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: make up for what he's having his base.
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: Yeah, they talk a lot about like turning around the
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: axis of your body right and really torquing your core
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: and your hips and then your shoulders. So if you
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: watch Tom Brady throw, who has the most picture perfect
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: mechanics beautiful. One of the big things that Tom Brady
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: is very big on, I know, is having everything kind
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: of uncoil when it shows. Yeah, so your feet come,
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: then your hips come, then your shoulder comes, then your
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: arm comes. When you start breaking that chain and things
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: start to go fire before they're supposed to fire. Like
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: if you're firing your shoulders before your hips or your
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: arm goes first, that's when you're starting to break that
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: mechanical chain. So I was always of the and maybe
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: a little bit too much, but I was always of
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: the school that mac Jones could go to like Tom
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: House school for an offseason. And no, he was not
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: going to go from having Rex Ryan's peace shooter to
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: having the best arm in the league, but he could
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: marginally improve his arm strength enough to be an NFL.
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: Mac Jones was not always tied together right, but.
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: He faded away a lot, which was I think the
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: biggest thing is that he's taking fadeaway jumping and then he.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: Didn't have the rest of the natural strength to make
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: up for that, like a guy like Drake May or
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: Joe Milton has.
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so Drake May I think has really good mechanics
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: for the most part. I think his release could be
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: a little bit tighter. I know Greg mcdard's big.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: On that, Yeah, but I don't think that has to
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: do with arm strength. That's more accuracy thing. The longer
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: you elongate your motion, the more error you're creating in
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: your accuracy because it's a longer wind up. So the
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: shorter and more compact the motion is, the more accurate
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: the quarterback is. I would say that's what makes Jade
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: and Daniels so good and so accurate is that he
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: has a very very good release, compact to the point,
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: no nonsense release, and that allows him to replicate his
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: accuracy over and over again, whereas Drake May, who has
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: very good accuracy as well, has had to work with
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: his arm motion and how long his arm motion is
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: so uh that that's like quarterback mechanics.
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: I don't know if you. Brady's probably the best sort
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: of example of rapidly improving your arm strength from a
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: young player to the player that he became. But I
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: also think that it was a combination of Brady having
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: his physicals tools undersold a little bit coming out of college.
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: But I would also say, uh, you know his body,
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: he transformed his body.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: Well that's where that's where the pliability comes in. Yeah,
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: because the flex is not your strength, it's flexibility.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: He literally.
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: Right, watch his arm go.
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: It's elastic. Yeah.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: When he throws the ball, especially later in his career,
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: his arm looks like a rubber band.
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, if you have to teach quarterback mechanics,
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: nothing against Drake May. Drake May just has so much
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: physical ability that he's kind of like Mahomes. He doesn't
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: necessarily have to have picture perfect mechanics.
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: The guy that has picture perfect mechanics all the time
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: is is Tom Brady, And it's all that mechanics change.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: You know that that the jump shooting robot goes around
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: on Twitter, that's Tom Brady thrown f He also does
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: that thing with the with the arm. So he he
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: believes in keeping that the.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: Front boat tucked.
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: Yeah. So you see he used to have a towel
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: that he would put under the front arm and he'd
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: tuck the elbow and if the towel would fall, that
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: means the elbow is coming away from the arm, right,
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: So he have to keep the arm tucked. Not every
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: quarnerback does the arm tuck, but Brady did.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: There's a uh.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: And if you did it, then I think you should
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: probably look well, no, there's so.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: I've seen golfers do a similar thing because you're supposed
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: to kind of.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: Keep your elbows together.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so they get a ball and they put a
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: ball between their arms when they swing, and especially in
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: the back swing, if your elbow comes flying out right,
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: if the ball drops and you didn't keep your arms
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: tight enough and your swing, yeah, it's a it's a
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: cool nifty if if Marine Matt's still back there was
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: that tip helped me.
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: It's a cool uh. It's a cool conversation about mechanics.
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: I think because a quarnerback like Drake probably doesn't need
- 1:42:59Speaker 2: to be a master of this craft, it probably would help,
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: like it wouldn't with anybody. A quarterback like mac Jones.
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: That was where his margins were. He was going to
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: have to perfect these types of things. He was gonna
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: have to win with his mind. He was gonna have
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: to win with perfect mechanics all those types of things.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: And that's hard. That's hard to do. That takes a
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: lot of practice and a lot of repetition, and a
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: lot of drive and a lot of you know, just
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: time in the gym, just figuring it out, working on it.
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: So it's tough. Brian is in New York. What's up, Brian?
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: Brian New York now has sent an email in, so
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: he must have had to drop off the call. So
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: here's his question, A quick question regarding Pop Douglas. I
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: feel last year all we heard from people was Pop
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: was open on this play or that play and Drake
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: just did not throw him the ball. Do you believe
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: that he could do to height and Drake not seeing him.
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: If so, how do they fix that problem? So I
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: do think that's part of it. And I think that
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: there moves this offseason. Aj Brown, Romeo Dobbs, Eli Rearden
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: in the draft at tight end with a huge wingspan.
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: Does kind of spell or suggest that Drake may would
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: like to throw to bigger receivers, have a little bit
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: more margin, freer, probably a little bit more comfort. He
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: talked about it that he always threw to his brothers,
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: who are all giants. You know, that might have something
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: to do with it. So I do think that that's
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: an element of it. I also think there's an element.
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: You know, some of those times that Pop was opened
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: deep in the Super Bowl, I you know, could he
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: have gotten them the ball? Could he not have gotten
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: the ball? There's other factors, you know, they're context pass rushers,
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: you know, things that are happening outside of the play
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: that aren't just oh he's We're watching the all twenty
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: two from the bird's eye view and he's open, right.
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: So there's always that kind of stuff. But I am
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: a subscriber, Alex. I don't know if you are to
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: the Drake May big receiver thing. I think that's a
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: I don't think it's a real thing.
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: But the chemistry with him and Pop Douglas did look
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: and proved this spring, So maybe that was one of
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: his folks is this offseason was moving on from that,
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: getting over that.
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: It is interesting because I feel like every time we
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: bring this up, the instantaneous his pushback is that he
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: played with Josh Downs in college right at North Carolina.
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: Now taking it out that it was the ACC and
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: it was a college game. I would also just add
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: with Josh Downs, Josh Downs was their best receiver. He
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: kind of didn't have a choice. Yeah, you know, he
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: kind of had to make it work. I think if
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: you get to this level and you can pick between
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: do you want an aj Brown six foot one, two
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: twenty five with you know, great hands, great body control
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: versus five eight Pop Douglas, you have that option. At
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: this level, North Carolina didn't have the option to say
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: that Josh Downs was too small for our quarterback. He
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: was by far and away Drake May's best receiver, so
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: you kind of had to make it work. Wrapping up
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: the show here in a few minutes, I got to
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: ask Sir Alex if he's got any thoughts on the
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: game tonight.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: They should win this one. I know the pass gets
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: a lot harder after this, but they should win this one,
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: and I just hope that. Look, I get it, all right,
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: I get it. The game is Turkey didn't really mean anything.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: Didn't count there playing backups. It's there's still a momentum thing.
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: It's like, and I know it counted, but remember like
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: when the Patriots lost to Miami at the end of
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: the year in nineteen and we're like, that doesn't really
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: mean anything, right. They didn't really need that game anyway,
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: but but they just it was a tough way to
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: lose a game and you hope that doesn't hang on them.
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: So again, I think they should beat Bosnia. Sounds like
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: Polisic is also finally healthy, Yeah, which is obviously huge.
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: I think I saw the report. Yes, he couldn't play
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: wire to wire. Hopefully he hasn't played Wired to wire
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: in a game in a long time. But maybe they
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: don't need him to, you know, if if they put
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: out two or three goals, maybe they won't need to him.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: But gins the game, get this one and then we
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: will see.
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: So a couple of things. This is I would say
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: that it's a fair comparison. Twenty nineteen was a little
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: bit different because they were playing for the number one.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: They had to play an extra game because of it.
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so that was a little bit different. This
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: is like you're locked into your seed. Yeah, and it's
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: week eighteen in the NFL and the Patriots decided not
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: to play Drake May in week eighteen. That's what the
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: equivalent of what the US.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: Yes, it's still it's a little more knack because they
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: were playing some of.
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: Their some of their guys, so they did like a
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: rotation and mostly it was to just like not have
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: any rust right going into the knockouts. So it's a
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: little bit different because there's less games obviously, Like you're
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: only talking about a three game group stage versus a
- 1:47:21Speaker 2: seventeen game NFL season. It's yeah, that element of it's
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: you know, different. But I would say the one thing
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: about this game that that worries me just a teeny
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: tiny bit. Bosnia is going to park the bus like
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: they're gonna play. They want to win this game in
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: PKS right right, like they want to win exactly how
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: Paraguay do.
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: Just I'll tell you this, I'd better not see one
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: player from the US say no when ask take a
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: penalty kick.
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: Well, that's how they Bosnia is going to try to
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: win this game that way, Like that's how they they
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: played normally. I didn't watch their game again. I think
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: it was against Italy in the qualifier, but apparently they
- 1:47:57Speaker 2: did exactly what Paraguay did to Germany to advance to
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: the World Cup, to get out of the qualifiers. So
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: they're going to try everything in their power to make
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: this either a one to nothing game or zero zero
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: one one going into PKS Like that's where Bosnia wants
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: this game. If the US can score early I think
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: that they're in really good shape. That that's not Bosia
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: just can't chase the game. They can't be down right,
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: So all you gotta do is score a first half
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: goal and put them down one another easy right, and
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: it's over. Now. Here's a little bit of a of
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: a take for you, though, because I've already given you
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: this take off the air, it doesn't mean anything to
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: me until they win around a sixteen game, doesn't I'm
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: not going to be impressed.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: It should be Bosi.
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: I think I'm not going to be impressed who they're playing.
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: Got they gotta get out of the round of sixteen.
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: I was alive in two thousand and two, but I
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: was not a big time soccer fan. Nor was I
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: that old. Okay, I was ten in two thousand and two.
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: I have never as a US soccer fan. I have
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: never really seen them win a knockout game before.
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: So does this The lgimate Senegal are both good, though I.
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: Don't know if this counts. Though this doesn't, this feels,
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: This feels a little I used Harry Kane, Yeah, they
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: noted Patriots fan har Harry Kane scored twice in the
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: second half, scored both goals for England and they're gonna survive.
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: So that's a bummer. Uh the I use this comparison
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: with you yesterday. Winning the round of thirty two is
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: a little bit like winning the wild card round in
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: the MLB, right, like you're you, yeah, you made the
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: it may it means you made the playoffs, you know,
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: it doesn't mean you want to playoffs.
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: Well what if they were playing like a more legit
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: team in this round.
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: Well if they if they like got a bad draw,
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: then short. Yeah, but I need to see them get
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: to the quarterfinals. That's. Anything beyond getting to the quarterfinals
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: is gravy. That's icing on the cake. But this team
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: should be good up, they're on home soil. They should
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: be good enough to make the quarterfinals. So I'm holding
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: them to that. If they don't make the quarterfinals're gonna
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: be disappointing.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: While Gillette for the last game here is going to
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: get a great draw. It's probably gonna be France against
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: either Canada or Morocco, so they it's pretty good they
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: have the quarterfinal game, right, they don't have a.
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: Round of sixteen, That's what I'm saying.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: So the last game here is going to be a
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: quarter final, quarterfinal, and there's the two teams playing again
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: in that are Paraguay and France. France will probably win that,
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: and that's a great track because you get in Boppe here,
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: France is gonna win the World Cup. And then you
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: either get Morocco, who's also pretty good, and Morocco France
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: would be a good match, or you get Canada and
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: you get like a Canad' is gonna travel very well
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: for that coming down here. So yeah, that in canadon France.
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: That's that's it's got to be a rivalry, right.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: Canada France now I think so, well, just because like
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: because they speak friends.
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Canada French, I guess so.
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: But the Canada is not really a relevant soccer nation.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: But still we're not a relevant soccer.
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: I guess Mexico looked pretty good last night. That was annoying.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you you were not impressed with Mexico, and then
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: they did that.
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: They looked really good.
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: Mexico England actually will be the next Uh, that'll be fun.
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: This is exactly what this happened.
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: Brazil did the same thing the other day to Japan,
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: where first half Japan scored a goal. It looked like
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: the brazil is on upset alert and then they just
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: dominated the.
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: Second A give me more of those penalty kicks, man.
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: I if the US goes the penalty kicks tonight, I
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: might I might not be able to watch. That's like
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: the thre the finger.
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: Well, that's what what's his name? Ryan Ree was saying,
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: like when he had to take a penalty kick in
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: the World Copy, his dad left. Yeah, that dad didn't
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: want to watch.
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: So one of my one of my friends growing up,
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: he was our goalie. Yeah, and in hockey. I didn't
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: play hockey, but he was our our hockey goalie and
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: his dad couldn't watch. He would he would pace around
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: the rink and he couldn't sit and watch it because
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: he's gonna throw up. I want to hear a very
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: optimistic Patriots email. So oh first, he says, oh man
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: Noray moves on to the round of sixteen. I'm not
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: a big second team guy, you know that, Like I
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: have one team. I don't really roof for a second team.
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: If I had to pick one, though, I might go normally.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: I love I love the roof chance and.
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: Dynamite. He's tremendous and Victor Holland won the other day.
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: He's just so good. That guy is so good. I mean,
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: and Bape is obviously amazing too, but Holland is just
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: so much fun to watch.
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52:26Speaker 2: Okay, so here are some really lofty stat predictions here
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: from our friend Dustin Drake May five thousand yards. Okay,
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: no quarterback through for five thousand last year. I keep
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: bringing that up with a couple of years, right, yeah,
- 1:52:38Speaker 2: people keep bringing up five thousand yards, and I'm like,
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: that doesn't.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: Have any era of quarters.
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: Forty five touchdowns and eight picks. Is that's like a
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: Tom Brady, That's like the Tom Brady s easy, Yeah,
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: that'd be a lot.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: Ramandre Stevenson. Yeah, twelve hundred rushing yards and twelve touchdowns.
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: And what does he have for Henderson He doesn't Okay,
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: just from on still, so that's twelve hundred yards from scrimmage.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Maybe that's sixty two hundred yard season.
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: Oh, in terms of what Drake and Rimandre have Yeah.
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, the NFL record by the Saints is
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: just over seven thousand.
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: We're talking we're talking verify there. If their offense is
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: putting up these kinds of numbers. Wait, till I get
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: the A. J. Brown prediction.
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: Okay, keep going A J.
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: Brown.
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: Well, I would assume all of AJ Brown's passing hours
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: are coming from Drake.
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: May thirteen hundred yards and ten touchdowns. I don't think
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: that one is as good as he was.
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: Probably a little high, but I don't think that's unrealistic.
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: He has them going fifteen and two with their losses
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: to Kansas City and Green Bay and winning the Super Bowl.
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: So if you wind me up, if you want some
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: Patriots dot Com optimism, that there it is for you.
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: All Right, We're gonna let Mark wrap up the show
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: for us with our last call. Here. Mark's in Connecticut.
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: What's that? Mark?
- 1:53:59Speaker 6: They haven't long time? You been budd good?
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: How are you not too bad?
- 1:54:03Speaker 6: I wanted to call in so bad yesterday when you
- 1:54:05Speaker 6: were on with Paul Yes, I wanted to get your guys' take.
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: How is the national media not thinking that the Patriots
- 1:54:15Speaker 6: have a top five receiver group in the role. I mean,
- 1:54:19Speaker 6: this is just nuts. I mean you got A J. Brown,
- 1:54:22Speaker 6: you got Romeo Dobs, you got Mack Hollins, you got
- 1:54:25Speaker 6: Kishan BOUDI I mean we have the deepest and I
- 1:54:28Speaker 6: believe one of the best wide receiver crew. I cannot
- 1:54:30Speaker 6: wait for training camp to see what Josh McDaniels seams up.
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: I mean, you can't take anybody away because then we
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: have a great fullback, we got good running backs. We
- 1:54:40Speaker 6: still got you know, Hunter Henry. This is just gonna
- 1:54:43Speaker 6: be nuts. I'm so excited for this.
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: I love it, Mark, I love the excitement. I'm excited
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: for it to And I think a lot of what
- 1:54:49Speaker 2: Mark said there about the answers Alex, they do have
- 1:54:53Speaker 2: a lot of answers. Yeah, they can play big. They
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: can run the football, they can go under center and
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: run the football. They can put the full back the backfield,
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: they can put multiple tight ends on the field. They
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: can go you know, they can spread you out. They
- 1:55:06Speaker 2: can go all the three receivers, spread you the field,
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: spread you out. Put Drake May in the shotgun. They
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: can do a lot of different things. I think the question,
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: you know, the point of houses not one of the best.
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: I think it's one of the deepest, and Bill Barnwell
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: said as much. So it's not just a homer take.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: He said that it's one of the deepest rims in
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: the league. Do they have the top end talent that
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: some of the other teams do. A Cincinnati that has
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: Higgins and Jamar Chase Dallas with Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens,
- 1:55:33Speaker 2: Like do they have I don't know if A J.
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: Brown and Romeo Dobbs are quite doubt type of one
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: to two punch. It's good.
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: It's good.
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: It's not chasing Higgins, you know, Adams and Puka.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: Where would you put it with Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Yeah,
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: I think Jefferson is the best player. Jefferson probably just
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: on his own rais as the ceiling of that.
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: Yeah, But like those are the you know, those are
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: the best, right the Rams, you know, teams like the Bengals,
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: those are those are the teams that know Dallas that
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: that's the best. I don't know if they're quite there,
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: but they're good. Yeah, and they're deep, and it'll certainly
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: be exciting to see how Josh McDaniels mixes and matches
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: all these different personnel groupings and styles of play. Like,
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: I think that's the most thing I'm most excited about
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: is that they can play so many different styles. I
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: think that's really important.
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: Going a different answer, it's gonna let Josh McDaniels do
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: what Josh McDaniels does best, which is hunt matchups and
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: be situational and game planning, game plan, game plan offense.
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: Maybe all right, so a little show scheduling up the
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: hang out.
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: We gotta do one more thing. Okay, we gotta do
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: twenty now.
- 1:56:43Speaker 2: We don't have time for that.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: We are three minutes, real quick, real quick, all right,
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: real quick. Sixteen to twenty sixteen to twenty Brady Brady.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: I think we've done twenty seventeen Brady every time. And
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna click the right place on twenty one to
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: twenty five offense.
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: I'm still going digs here, Okay. I think dis is
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: their best offensive player in that period.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: I mean thousand yard receiver.
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: I feel like Mandre would be the only other one.
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: Woh, ninety three to ninety.
- 1:57:11Speaker 2: Eight Ben Coates or Curtis Martin.
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: So it's ninety five Curse Martin at fifteen hundred yards
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: and fourteen touchdowns in ninety five Curtis Martin. I think
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: we go Curtis Martin here because we also sell Gronk. Yeah,
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: eleven to fifteen Gronk. That would be twenty eleven Gronk.
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: The best gronk.
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Yeah, ninety nine to five. We could add Corey Dillon.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: As a flex, Corey Dylan as a flex or.
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: We have ninety nine Terry Glenn oh one Troy Brown
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: at twelve hundred yards and five touchdowns going, Corey Dyllan
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: as a clock killing Corey Dillan. I mean that's a
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: nice thunder and light. Now we gotta see if we
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: can get and six to ten so we can get
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: Randy Moss there you go, all right, good start, because
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: ninety nine to five defense cross the board.
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: Richard Seymour, not Willie, not Willy. Shout out Willy though.
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: Uh where Seymour? I feel like defensive tackles tough? You
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: want to go Seymour, Seymour, All right, we'll go Seymour dt.
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: Twenty one to twenty five.
- 1:58:15Speaker 2: This is where we always get tripped out right.
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: We do have fifteen and a half sacked jude On.
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: We could put it, yeah, I guess yeah, third jude On.
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: In the flex.
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: I mean we're gonna have a pretty good pass rush here.
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: Sixteen to twenty sixteen Gilmore Gilmore On. It's a player
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: of the year Gilmore, Yeah, twenty nineteen, Steph Gilmore yep,
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: oh nine or sorry, ninety nine to five?
- 1:58:38Speaker 2: Oh again, So we need like linebackers now though, right, yeah,
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: corners we have pass rush.
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but like Willie counts as a well, we only
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: had nine sacks though in his best year. Here, we
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: can't do Thailand now, right, we go Teddy Bruski. Uh,
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: we can't do tilet. We could go Rodney Harrison.
- 1:58:55Speaker 2: Okay, let's go Rodney.
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: Oh three, Rodney Harrison is stage. Now we need a
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: linebacker and an edge rusher. And we got eleven to
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: fifteen Chandler Jones twelve and a half sack, chand Let
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: me make sure I get Chandler Jones. Yeah, yeah, not
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: Chris Jones last week? Did I got Chandler Jones at edge?
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: And now we need a linebacker. Eleven to fifteen, so
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: we got ten sack Andre Carter. We got one hundred
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: and forty one tackles. Rod Mayo, we don't have High Tower.
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: We've got Mark Anderson whereas High I guess, I guess
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: we got twenty fourteen High to Actually this is pretty good.
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: Mayo has the the pure number on the tackles, but
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: High Tower has sacked. So we're trying to go for
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: twenty eight tackles for lost. All right, we'll go Dante
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: High Tower in the middle. That's pretty good, twenty and
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: oh we got finally we did it. Excited, finally we
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: did it.
