Transcript
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Welcome to another episode of 5 Minute Parenting.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Today I'm going to do something a little different.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I'm actually going to share about my new kids devotional that just released today, and I'm going to talk a little bit about why I wrote it.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Fingerprint devotions, 40 devotions to help you realize you are a kid uniquely created by God for a purpose.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: It's geared for ages 8 to 12, and it's published by Ambassador International Publishers.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I wrote it because today the world's influence on our children begins so much earlier than most of us experienced in our lives.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: We live in a society where even young children are bombarded daily with media advertisements on TV, social media, magazines, and so forth that portray success as external beauty, popularity, sexiness, etc.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: The earlier we begin in a child's life to build that foundation of truth, the earlier they will be equipped to stand against an ungodly worldview that permeates our current culture.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: We also face an extreme culture of wokeness that is currently invading the culture, much of which is targeting our children at a very young age.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Even our schools, libraries, bookstores, children's organizations, etc., are spewing out lies about gender identification, critical race theory, trying to erase our basic history as a nation, and mocking God as the creator and sustainer of life.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: By the time children reach their tween and teen years, many of these harmful lies about who they are, their value as a person, and their purpose in life has already caused much harm psychologically, emotionally, and physically.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I believe Christian writers have a great opportunity to reach the current generation through picture books, devotionals, middle grade school books.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: I believe God birthed this idea for my devotional in my heart and spirit, even before I started writing.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I was discovering some interesting facts about fingerprints, and I just kept kind of going down that rabbit trail, researching fingerprints, and then I believe God said, write down some of those.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: So I wrote them down with the reference, and then he gave me the idea to pair them with a devotional and a scripture and a prayer.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: So I did this, and I believe he has more books he wants Christian authors to write.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: So this devotional, 40 devotions to help you realize you're a kid uniquely created by God for a purpose, helps kids understand that they were created by God and that they have a purpose and plan for their life.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: It pairs fun scientific facts about the uniqueness of each person's fingerprints with scripture, a short devotional, a prayer, and a question or activity to journal.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: It has four sections with topics about each person's creation and uniqueness, their identity in Christ, accepting Christ, developing the fruit of the Spirit in their lives, and discovering the gifts and talents that God has given them to serve others and live a purposeful life.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: My goals for this devotional were one, to help help children know that God created them, chose them, loves them, and has a purpose for their lives.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Number two, to help children be grounded in the truth of who they are in God, to be able to withstand our current culture of wokeness and the lies about who they are.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Just as Satan sought to destroy the generation of children at Moses' birth and later at Jesus' birth, he still was trying to destroy our generation of children with his lies.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: I want this devotional to not only reach children in Christian homes, but children who are not being raised in a Christian setting or who don't attend church.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And I'm excited to announce my partnership with Seven Homes, a North Carolina-based Christian foster and adoption agency, who would love to put this devotional into their care bags that they give to children who have to be taken out of their homes sometimes suddenly and placed in foster care.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: They will also use these books for Christmas gifts and for gifts at their camps that they run throughout the year.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: These children need to know that God loves them and that they are important and have a purpose for their lives.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Many have gone through traumatic experiences.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And my heart is that this book would show them how much God loves them and cares for them.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: I'm donating some books myself.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: I'm asking those who purchase a book for their own child or grandchild to consider purchasing an extra paperback copy for$11.99 to donate to Seven Homes.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: You can actually send the book directly to Seven Homes office through a link that's been created on Amazon to purchase this book.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: And I'm thankful for what He's given me to share.
