- 0:12Speaker 2: The World's of Vigeonal podcast.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. People love the media on media stuff.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Hilarious.
- 0:29Speaker 5: Security. Was Jordan Schultz gonna physically fight?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Well, he didn't say that. He said we're going to
- 0:34Speaker 3: have a problem.
- 0:35Speaker 6: They were a Starbucks, so you can't actually have a
- 0:37Speaker 6: physical confrontation. They've got to go to dunks today.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Right The most that can happen at Starbucks you might
- 0:41Speaker 3: get a croissant from you, But at duncan you throw down?
- 0:45Speaker 3: You throw down. I think that some teams that are
- 0:48Speaker 3: really needing a quarterback might make an offer that McVeigh
- 0:52Speaker 3: can't refuse, and they've got Garoppolo and the winds.
- 0:55Speaker 6: The last part of that isn't meant to be serious,
- 0:57Speaker 6: is it?
- 0:58Speaker 3: Why? I hate to bring Paul's little all into this,
- 1:00Speaker 3: But if he could start another tally, that would be great.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Do you go over the underwear or.
- 1:05Speaker 6: Through the door.
- 1:06Speaker 3: See if I'm wearing tidy whitey or when I used
- 1:09Speaker 3: to wear those, I would I would not go through
- 1:12Speaker 3: the door.
- 1:12Speaker 6: He's one of your envelope guys, right, you should be happy.
- 1:14Speaker 3: No, he doesn't qualify as a back good. These are
- 1:18Speaker 3: guys that you dig a little deeper, dig a little deeper,
- 1:21Speaker 3: you do some mining, and you find those jewels in
- 1:25Speaker 3: the mind. But I haven't got my books yet, so
- 1:27Speaker 3: I can't really start.
- 1:28Speaker 7: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:32Speaker 3: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome
- 1:37Speaker 3: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here at ji Lets Stadium.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Evan's back, Deuce is back. It smells like Indy here
- 1:45Speaker 3: in the studio. I don't know what that smells like
- 1:49Speaker 3: inie smell, I said, INDI not Indy's anyway. Yeah, So
- 1:54Speaker 3: it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Deuced, It's Matt
- 1:57Speaker 3: and the booth. And got a lot to talk about.
- 1:59Speaker 3: We've got Combine wrap up, We've got free agency, We've
- 2:03Speaker 3: got draft talk. There's so much going on. Where do
- 2:07Speaker 3: we start? I guess we start with the combine. Sure, Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 3: you guys spent way too much time there. What what
- 2:15Speaker 3: are your takeaways? You know, what did you learn? What
- 2:18Speaker 3: should we know?
- 2:19Speaker 6: God?
- 2:19Speaker 3: Where do we start at?
- 2:20Speaker 5: I don't. I don't even know where to where to
- 2:21Speaker 5: jump off. How about this, I'll just jump off by
- 2:24Speaker 5: saying right now, as we sit here, feels a little
- 2:26Speaker 5: like the Patriots are a no man's land unless they
- 2:28Speaker 5: could get Travis Hunter. It feels a little bit like
- 2:30Speaker 5: they're a no man's land. Not great testing from Mason Graham,
- 2:34Speaker 5: you know, not great measurements from Will Campbell. I think
- 2:36Speaker 5: a lot of people are stocked down a little bit
- 2:39Speaker 5: on those two guys who are very popular draft picks.
- 2:42Speaker 5: And right now my mind is, what is the uh
- 2:46Speaker 5: like an overdraft that you can't miss on?
- 2:49Speaker 6: You?
- 2:50Speaker 5: You might have to overdraft?
- 2:51Speaker 3: Who's worth over guy?
- 2:53Speaker 5: Yeah, at least going you know, with the numbers going
- 2:55Speaker 5: into the raft, because we were talking yesterday with Paul
- 2:58Speaker 5: and the boys, and there's probably gonna be a player
- 3:02Speaker 5: five years from now that we look back that went
- 3:04Speaker 5: between five and twenty that you said that guy totally
- 3:07Speaker 5: would have been worth the fourth overall pick. As Paul
- 3:10Speaker 5: was the table who find that guy?
- 3:13Speaker 3: That guy?
- 3:13Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not easy. I'm not suggesting that these guys
- 3:16Speaker 6: should be fired if they don't come up with that guy.
- 3:18Speaker 6: It's not an easy test. This is not a great draft,
- 3:22Speaker 6: but there will be a handful of players that are
- 3:24Speaker 6: much better than the rest.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Talk about one to talk about the what was it
- 3:27Speaker 5: the twenties something drafted?
- 3:29Speaker 6: The twenty thirteen draft is a legendarily bad first round,
- 3:34Speaker 6: but Lane Johnson goes.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Four overall as the third tackle.
- 3:37Speaker 6: As the third tackle, it was Eric Fisher, Luke jogl
- 3:40Speaker 6: one to two and Lane Johnson four. You know, really
- 3:44Speaker 6: good player for a long time for the Eagles, and
- 3:47Speaker 6: DeAndre Hopkins went in the twenties. Obviously, anybody would consider
- 3:51Speaker 6: that a wild success. There's a whole lot of bad
- 3:55Speaker 6: to really bad in between. It's just a bad first round. Yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 6: you have to figure out twenty fifteen thirteen. Yeah, it
- 4:05Speaker 6: was on that. It's crazy. He was going, I don't know,
- 4:08Speaker 6: but yeah, I was rattling him off, and every one
- 4:11Speaker 6: of them, like some of them were like physically hurting it.
- 4:14Speaker 3: He was like, So it was twenty twenty, twenty twelve
- 4:16Speaker 3: the year where a lot of guys you know, went
- 4:19Speaker 3: as underclassman and it kind of diluted the pool for
- 4:23Speaker 3: twenty thirteen.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Or maybe they weren't a lot of underclassmen and that's
- 4:27Speaker 6: why it was a smaller class. I don't know, I
- 4:29Speaker 6: don't know. I don't know the answer, but it was
- 4:31Speaker 6: like a lot. First of all, anytime you get three
- 4:34Speaker 6: tackles in the first four picks, it's at the very
- 4:37Speaker 6: least it's an unsexy draft. Yeah, but you know, those
- 4:42Speaker 6: two guys that went one two were average to blow.
- 4:45Speaker 6: I mean think Luke Jogo was averaged like Taevon Austin
- 4:50Speaker 6: I think went number eight. E j Manuel was the
- 4:52Speaker 6: only quarterback in the first round. Obviously he didn't pan out.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Wow it was a bad draft.
- 4:57Speaker 8: Yep, yeah, I guess I'll go. Duce said yesterday, I
- 5:00Speaker 8: think guys had to talk me off the ledge a
- 5:02Speaker 8: little bit because I'm a little bit worried.
- 5:05Speaker 3: You're having trouble processing I have.
- 5:08Speaker 5: I'm still having me came in on Will Campbell, Evan,
- 5:11Speaker 5: you got to take a shoelaces days tough.
- 5:14Speaker 8: I mean, it's one of those drafts where we might
- 5:18Speaker 8: need to recalibrate in our heads what really is the
- 5:22Speaker 8: value of the fourth overall pick in this draft? Like
- 5:25Speaker 8: it's not last year. So you can't just sit here
- 5:28Speaker 8: and say, well, Will Campbell's not Joalt. No, there is
- 5:31Speaker 8: no jolt you know there is no uh, you know,
- 5:34Speaker 8: Marvin Harrison Junior and Molik neighbors in this draft. It's
- 5:37Speaker 8: a it's a down year. It's a down year at
- 5:40Speaker 8: the top of the draft, and that's a bummer to
- 5:42Speaker 8: be a team that's picking for overall in a year
- 5:44Speaker 8: like that. But the reality is is Abdul Carter and
- 5:47Speaker 8: Travis Hunter would be top prospects in any draft. But
- 5:51Speaker 8: there it. You know that that's it. So if you're
- 5:53Speaker 8: the Patriots, you got to hope that one of those
- 5:56Speaker 8: teams falls in love with with the quarterbacks. It sounds
- 5:58Speaker 8: like cam Ward is already for you. I think that
- 6:01Speaker 8: he's going to go top three. I think that's pretty
- 6:03Speaker 8: much really consensus at this point that he might even
- 6:07Speaker 8: go number one overall.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Now when did that change?
- 6:11Speaker 8: I would say that that's always been trending in that direction.
- 6:14Speaker 8: And then you know, at the combine, most people have
- 6:17Speaker 8: learned that, you know, cam Ward is is going to
- 6:20Speaker 8: go high, probably maybe even number one.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Was that a trickle down from Stafford signing with the
- 6:26Speaker 3: Rams or like, because I thought a lot of these teams,
- 6:29Speaker 3: you know, the speculation is a lot of these teams
- 6:32Speaker 3: might settle on the veteran.
- 6:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I think that maybe that's a possibility. I mean,
- 6:36Speaker 8: he's really talented quarterback. I don't think that he would
- 6:39Speaker 8: be a top three quarterback last year, but again, last
- 6:43Speaker 8: year was a special year for quarterbacks. So it sounds
- 6:46Speaker 8: like pretty much all three of those teams would be
- 6:49Speaker 8: happy with cam Ward right now. But the question is
- 6:53Speaker 8: is obviously shador and and can does a team fall
- 6:56Speaker 8: for him?
- 6:56Speaker 3: So then it sounds like the Patriots will have their
- 6:58Speaker 3: choice of Will Campbell or Mason Graham.
- 7:01Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I mean that's that's where we're at, and
- 7:03Speaker 8: I think that's what I'm trying to come to grips with.
- 7:08Speaker 6: You need to take his shoe.
- 7:09Speaker 9: Yeah, it's been a bad place because it just doesn't
- 7:12Speaker 9: feel like that player should be the fourth overall pick,
- 7:16Speaker 9: but in this year he's.
- 7:17Speaker 3: But there's only two that should be so right, right,
- 7:19Speaker 3: So that's the reality.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Yeah, it may be oversimplifying it. Of course, there's veteran
- 7:25Speaker 5: quarterback moves to happen. I know the Giants were supposedly
- 7:27Speaker 5: interested in Aaron Rodgers, but you know, what do the
- 7:29Speaker 5: Giants do at three? And you know, I know Brady
- 7:32Speaker 5: has a relationship with Shitter Sanders to the Raiders. Does
- 7:35Speaker 5: he love sugar that much?
- 7:37Speaker 3: Should? Should? I know, I'm just trying to make.
- 7:44Speaker 6: You mispronounce them. He pronounces them funny, there's different and.
- 7:47Speaker 5: Then we get in like a thing where we lose
- 7:49Speaker 5: the plot of what it actually is.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Uh.
- 7:52Speaker 5: But does Brady love Sanders that much? To come up?
- 7:55Speaker 5: And I think we have a relationship already.
- 7:57Speaker 6: You know, strictly from from a home horrific standpoint for
- 8:01Speaker 6: the Patriots. You keeping an eye on the veteran quarterback
- 8:06Speaker 6: market for those top three teams. Do any of those
- 8:08Speaker 6: three teams sign Sam Donald or Aaron Rodgers? You know,
- 8:13Speaker 6: one of those guys would be a killer, because if
- 8:16Speaker 6: you're hoping for someone to either take Sanders or trade
- 8:20Speaker 6: up to take Sanders, you need to have a reason
- 8:23Speaker 6: for it. And I think if if Donald were to
- 8:27Speaker 6: sign with somebody, which I think is a possibility, I
- 8:30Speaker 6: know Minnesota keeps saying how they're not going to franchise him,
- 8:33Speaker 6: but they want to resign them. I don't know how
- 8:35Speaker 6: you do that. I don't know how you give them
- 8:38Speaker 6: the money that he's gonna want and probably deserves based
- 8:41Speaker 6: on the.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Year he Yeah, you got to convince him that we're
- 8:44Speaker 3: going to make you the best offer. You're not going
- 8:46Speaker 3: to do better than us.
- 8:47Speaker 6: So if he you know, if Donald signs with the
- 8:50Speaker 6: Giants or Cleveland, you know why then like they want
- 8:56Speaker 6: to take Abdul Carter now or Travis Hunter. I don't
- 8:59Speaker 6: want to trade down. I have my quarterback that's a veteran.
- 9:02Speaker 6: I don't want to trade down. I want to take
- 9:05Speaker 6: the one or two sure things quote unquote that we
- 9:08Speaker 6: think are available. I think that lessens the trade market. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 6: you know, if you're the Raiders and you fall in
- 9:14Speaker 6: love with Shador Sanders, I don't see why you trade
- 9:19Speaker 6: just wait and pick them.
- 9:21Speaker 8: That seems to be if you don't not a big
- 9:24Speaker 8: fan of Shador, that's six with the Raiders seems to
- 9:27Speaker 8: be like his ceiling, Like that would be the first
- 9:30Speaker 8: that he could come off the board.
- 9:32Speaker 3: But at five, where are they the Patriots? No, the Raiders?
- 9:35Speaker 6: Six?
- 9:36Speaker 3: Six?
- 9:36Speaker 8: Yes, six to the Raiders would be what a lot
- 9:40Speaker 8: of people that aren't big fans of Shador would say,
- 9:43Speaker 8: is his the highest he could possibly go in the
- 9:46Speaker 8: first round. And some people think that he's not even
- 9:48Speaker 8: a first round pick at all, you know, so it's
- 9:50Speaker 8: it's really going to be the quarterback tax, and is
- 9:53Speaker 8: it enticing enough for a team to take them that high.
- 9:57Speaker 8: I know there's other reports out there that he rubs
- 9:59Speaker 8: some people the wrong way already in some of these interviews.
- 10:02Speaker 8: I think Tom McShay said that on his podcast, and
- 10:05Speaker 8: some of the teams that met with him at the
- 10:07Speaker 8: combine didn't feel like he was taking it seriously and
- 10:10Speaker 8: didn't didn't feel like he was he was really listening
- 10:13Speaker 8: in the room.
- 10:13Speaker 3: So here, Travis Hunter said, if if the team that
- 10:17Speaker 3: picks me doesn't want to change their culture, culture, I'm
- 10:20Speaker 3: not interested. That's shador Yeah. So at first I said,
- 10:26Speaker 3: that's that's pretty you know, arrogant of him to say,
- 10:29Speaker 3: what if the team already has a good culture and
- 10:31Speaker 3: is a winning team and they just pick you. But
- 10:33Speaker 3: chances are the team that picks him is a loser
- 10:37Speaker 3: and they don't have a good culture, And so I
- 10:39Speaker 3: get what he's saying, you know. So after I thought
- 10:41Speaker 3: about it a little bit, I was like, Okay, you know,
- 10:44Speaker 3: you're probably going to a team that desperately needs a quarterback,
- 10:47Speaker 3: and due to that you they don't have a good
- 10:49Speaker 3: record and they probably need a culture change.
- 10:52Speaker 5: He doesn't lack confidence at all. That was I mean,
- 10:54Speaker 5: he just he's clearly got a lot of confidence in
- 10:56Speaker 5: what he's gonna be able to bring. I just don't
- 10:58Speaker 5: know if it matches up with the play, and that's
- 11:00Speaker 5: what teams are going to have to reconcile. How do
- 11:02Speaker 5: you feel about this guy? I mean, yeah, you want
- 11:05Speaker 5: someone who's going to come in confident and believe that
- 11:07Speaker 5: they can do it. I mean it's like he's got
- 11:08Speaker 5: all his dad's confidence, but I'm not sure he has
- 11:10Speaker 5: all his dad's talent. And that's where it's you get
- 11:13Speaker 5: lost with.
- 11:14Speaker 8: It's a good way to put it.
- 11:15Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, And I wonder because I you know how
- 11:19Speaker 6: I always never really take anything at face value. I
- 11:23Speaker 6: just I wonder if it's intentional. Now. I do think
- 11:25Speaker 6: he's probably brash by nature. I mean, how can you
- 11:29Speaker 6: not be when you're d on sun, right, But I
- 11:32Speaker 6: wonder if it's intentional. And we've heard a lot, you.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Know, in order to knock him with himself down.
- 11:37Speaker 6: I don't want Yeah, I don't want to get taken
- 11:38Speaker 6: by Tennessee. I don't want to get taken by Cleveland
- 11:40Speaker 6: or whatever. I don't know which teams that he does
- 11:43Speaker 6: or doesn't want to be drafted by. But I wonder
- 11:45Speaker 6: if maybe he sort of intentionally shot a shot and
- 11:49Speaker 6: try to discourage some teams from taking them. I'm complete,
- 11:53Speaker 6: I don't have any inside knowledge of that, but.
- 11:56Speaker 8: I looked at it as kind of the opposite, because
- 11:58Speaker 8: if you're going to take a guy like him, it's
- 12:00Speaker 8: about it's about the intangibles. Like he doesn't have the
- 12:03Speaker 8: talent on.
- 12:03Speaker 6: Paper, that's what everyone says to be a top five pick.
- 12:06Speaker 8: But he's got the bravado, he's got the he's got
- 12:09Speaker 8: the juice, and so I think that in order to
- 12:11Speaker 8: show that, I think he went into the combine and
- 12:14Speaker 8: then acted like his dad, you know, and showed that
- 12:17Speaker 8: he's got that Sanders aura about him. And I think
- 12:20Speaker 8: that's what you're hoping for.
- 12:22Speaker 3: So we say that he doesn't really have the top
- 12:25Speaker 3: end talent as a quarterback, So why was he ever
- 12:28Speaker 3: mentioned as a top quarterback to begin with?
- 12:32Speaker 6: Name?
- 12:33Speaker 5: Just the name, like I mean, like light Year quarterbacks.
- 12:37Speaker 5: He's one that stands out at least with his personality,
- 12:40Speaker 5: so he draws a lot of attention. I mean, that's
- 12:42Speaker 5: I think that's that's a good fact.
- 12:43Speaker 3: So there's no chance that I know we had Travis
- 12:45Speaker 3: Hunter on his team, but there's no chance that his
- 12:48Speaker 3: play elevated Colorado to be better than.
- 12:51Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't want to undersell it too much, Like
- 12:54Speaker 8: I do think that there's some talent there. He doesn't
- 12:57Speaker 8: have high end arm talent, Like he's not one of
- 12:58Speaker 8: these guys that has you know, Drake may type of
- 13:01Speaker 8: arm that that can just flick it. But he's got
- 13:04Speaker 8: some intangible stuff. He's got some instincts for the position,
- 13:08Speaker 8: and he's mechanically sound, like you can tell that he
- 13:10Speaker 8: was he was well coached and that he is a
- 13:13Speaker 8: coach's son, and he's played the position and he's worked
- 13:16Speaker 8: with Tom Brady and probably every other quarterback guru under
- 13:18Speaker 8: the sun since he was in the seventh grade. And
- 13:21Speaker 8: so he's got a good feel and good natural mechanics
- 13:25Speaker 8: to throw the football. And he was behind a horrible
- 13:27Speaker 8: offensive line at Colorado and made it work. You know,
- 13:30Speaker 8: he'd ran around a little bit, he bought time, you know,
- 13:33Speaker 8: made some off platform throw.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Say he's better or the same or not as good
- 13:37Speaker 3: as Baker Mayfield.
- 13:39Speaker 8: Coming out, Yeah.
- 13:40Speaker 6: He didn't have a good a college career as Baker Mayfield. Anything.
- 13:45Speaker 3: You know in his conference that that's all he did
- 13:47Speaker 3: is score points. Baker Mayfield, Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 8: Yeah, I would say a little bit worse coming out,
- 13:53Speaker 8: Like I think that he talent wise, like he's in
- 13:55Speaker 8: probably a similar sphere as like Bo Nicks and you
- 13:58Speaker 8: know some of those quarterbacks that when you know in
- 14:00Speaker 8: the teens last year. You know, I if he was
- 14:04Speaker 8: in that JJ McCarthy, Michael Penix, bow Nick's tier of quarterbacks,
- 14:08Speaker 8: you know, I don't know if he where he would
- 14:10Speaker 8: be exactly, but he's probably in that cluster somewhere.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Okay, so he's.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Not I don't know who's.
- 14:17Speaker 7: No.
- 14:17Speaker 6: I don't think he's terribly. I think he's good. I
- 14:19Speaker 6: just don't think he's great and.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Could end up being a really good NFL quarter Yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 6: I think Michael Penix has far more skills than should Sanders.
- 14:26Speaker 8: He's got a better arm for him.
- 14:29Speaker 6: I forget who said this. I heard someone over the
- 14:31Speaker 6: weekend just talking about Sanders and they said, like, he
- 14:35Speaker 6: doesn't you know, to go like like the scouting jargon,
- 14:37Speaker 6: he doesn't have a plus anything from a physical standpoint.
- 14:40Speaker 6: He's not fast, he's not overly quick, he holds the
- 14:43Speaker 6: ball too long, he doesn't have a great arm. But
- 14:46Speaker 6: what he makes up for is the stuff that Evan
- 14:48Speaker 6: was talking about when we first started this, about his intangibles,
- 14:51Speaker 6: like his teammates love him. He's a good leader. You know,
- 14:55Speaker 6: He's got a really high level of competitiveness to him.
- 15:00Speaker 6: That's supposedly where he makes up for sort of an
- 15:04Speaker 6: average skill set. Now, he's not bad at those things.
- 15:07Speaker 6: I've watched him play many times.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Yeah, he seems to have a pretty good highlight reel.
- 15:11Speaker 6: He's not a stiff. Now they don't I mean the
- 15:14Speaker 6: whole win. They don't win. They didn't win very much
- 15:16Speaker 6: with him. They were sort of an average team the
- 15:18Speaker 6: two years that he was in Colorado, I mean one
- 15:22Speaker 6: of them they were. They were flat out bad team.
- 15:25Speaker 6: This year they were a little bit better. I'm intrigued
- 15:30Speaker 6: by him, but I just he's not overly big, he's
- 15:33Speaker 6: not overly fast, like I just I wonder about him.
- 15:38Speaker 6: But I say a lot of the same things about
- 15:39Speaker 6: Baker Mayfield. When he was coming out. I didn't understand it.
- 15:42Speaker 6: I didn't understand the first because he just wasn't to me,
- 15:45Speaker 6: a plus athlete. He looks like he's coming into his
- 15:48Speaker 6: own He's a pretty good player, you know, so I
- 15:51Speaker 6: don't know, I think he could do worse than Baker Mayfield.
- 15:53Speaker 5: Watch him at late I felt a little polarizing, Like
- 15:57Speaker 5: I can imagine people are like I don't like the
- 15:59Speaker 5: overcompence and just the cockiness that you know, he came
- 16:02Speaker 5: off with. But I think it might be enticing to
- 16:05Speaker 5: some of these teams who are so quarterback needy, and
- 16:08Speaker 5: can we afford to miss on this kid? Like clearly
- 16:10Speaker 5: he's got the pedigree and he believes in himself. I
- 16:12Speaker 5: just I could see some teams kind of getting talking.
- 16:16Speaker 6: Irrational confidence helps him, Yeah, like it does. I think
- 16:18Speaker 6: it definitely does. With Mayfield is.
- 16:20Speaker 3: The fact that his dad is Deon Sanders hurting him
- 16:23Speaker 3: at this point, like because you're taking.
- 16:26Speaker 6: You guys hearing it.
- 16:29Speaker 5: But I would just say, like, what's like I would
- 16:31Speaker 5: look at his his cockiness in a little different light
- 16:34Speaker 5: if he wasn't de On sanders son, you know, Like
- 16:36Speaker 5: it's almost you assume that he should be have this
- 16:39Speaker 5: overwhelming confidence because that's who his dad is, that's who
- 16:42Speaker 5: his coach has been.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I'm just thinking in terms of we take this guy
- 16:45Speaker 3: and we got to deal with the tweets or we
- 16:48Speaker 3: got to deal with him talking about us.
- 16:50Speaker 6: And I think that's I would wonder if if it's
- 16:52Speaker 6: not going well, like let's let's put the like the
- 16:54Speaker 6: Patriot situation last year with the lack of protection right right,
- 16:58Speaker 6: it dion in the middle of our toying, like what
- 17:01Speaker 6: are they doing? Right these guys even have any idea
- 17:03Speaker 6: what protection looks like?
- 17:05Speaker 8: I mean, you know, to ask him like Colorado, Yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 8: that's part.
- 17:14Speaker 6: That's part of the Sanders packages was they can't protect me?
- 17:18Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't know. I didn't. I Actually the question
- 17:22Speaker 8: that I heard more of it at the combine was
- 17:26Speaker 8: to people upstairs push some of these front offices to
- 17:29Speaker 8: consider Shador because of the marketing and because of the
- 17:32Speaker 8: interest in the team that Hey is going to bring
- 17:36Speaker 8: Cowboys to the Giants to Vegas. You know, some of
- 17:40Speaker 8: these teams that that could use a little bit. You know,
- 17:43Speaker 8: obviously Vegas is one of those teams that could desperately
- 17:46Speaker 8: use some eyeballs on that program for whatever reason.
- 17:51Speaker 3: So we're talking about Sanders because we're hoping that some
- 17:54Speaker 3: team takes him in the top three. Obviously the Patriots aren't.
- 17:58Speaker 3: But at the combine, was there any it does sound
- 18:00Speaker 3: like it. But was there anyone that you saw that
- 18:04Speaker 3: you didn't you weren't considering, as you know, to pick
- 18:08Speaker 3: it for that Maybe now you're like, you know what,
- 18:09Speaker 3: if they picked this guy, it wouldn't be the worst
- 18:12Speaker 3: thing in the world.
- 18:12Speaker 5: Georgia, Georgia on my mind, I have.
- 18:15Speaker 6: A guy that I okay, curious about them.
- 18:17Speaker 5: But I think I mean, I don't want to speak form,
- 18:19Speaker 5: but I think we're both I both think we were
- 18:21Speaker 5: both very impressed with Jalen Walker just had a presence
- 18:24Speaker 5: at the podium that like, this guy's already an NFL player.
- 18:27Speaker 5: And the guy that I just continue to watch and
- 18:30Speaker 5: be intrigued by is Michel Williams from Georgia, who I
- 18:33Speaker 5: just think is has the potential to be a foundational
- 18:35Speaker 5: defensive front player, you know, along the lines of kind
- 18:38Speaker 5: of William mcguinnis. You know, he's hurt last year, he's
- 18:41Speaker 5: still raw, he's still young. So it's definitely a projection.
- 18:44Speaker 5: But when I talked about are there gonna be guys
- 18:46Speaker 5: that go from five to twenty, and usually Williams is
- 18:49Speaker 5: about fifteen in that range, I could see him being
- 18:53Speaker 5: the kind of guy that blossoms into the player that shoot,
- 18:56Speaker 5: we should have taken him at four am. I'm intrigued
- 18:59Speaker 5: by him. I don't know if that's way too much
- 19:00Speaker 5: of a reach. Maybe that's insane, but that's my that's
- 19:03Speaker 5: my random take.
- 19:04Speaker 8: I think you're just putting a lot. I don't think
- 19:06Speaker 8: it's a reach because in this draft, I think you
- 19:07Speaker 8: can talk yourself into a lot of different guys guys,
- 19:10Speaker 8: but you're putting a lot of faith in Terrell Williams
- 19:13Speaker 8: and Mike Rabel to take this ball of clay and
- 19:16Speaker 8: develop him. And I think you would have to keep
- 19:18Speaker 8: in mind it's probably not going to be his rookie
- 19:21Speaker 8: year right like, it's probably not going to click for
- 19:23Speaker 8: him right away and might be year two, three, four
- 19:25Speaker 8: down the line. Just the one guy other than those
- 19:28Speaker 8: two Georgia guys is Armand Membu from Missouri, who is
- 19:33Speaker 8: just absolutely destroyed the combine. I mean, it was unbelievable
- 19:37Speaker 8: what he did. But he's a right tackle, you know,
- 19:40Speaker 8: he's he played right tackle at missoo you need one
- 19:43Speaker 8: of those two. But he's extremely athletic. It pops off
- 19:47Speaker 8: the film at you how explosive he is and how
- 19:50Speaker 8: much well he can move in space and you know,
- 19:52Speaker 8: pass protect on an island and all that kind of stuff.
- 19:55Speaker 8: So if you want to sign a left tackle and
- 19:58Speaker 8: free agency and then draft to right tackle and now
- 20:00Speaker 8: you feel like you've fixed your offensive line kind of
- 20:03Speaker 8: like what the Chargers did with joelt last year, you
- 20:06Speaker 8: can talk yourself into it. I wouldn't have considered him
- 20:10Speaker 8: at four until now because I think now he's going
- 20:12Speaker 8: to get a little bit more buzz, especially after Campbell's
- 20:16Speaker 8: arm length situation.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Well it's not just his armlike with Campbell, it's coming
- 20:20Speaker 3: in at two nineties instead of three twenties.
- 20:22Speaker 8: Right, I know, yeah, he.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I'm sorry that was.
- 20:28Speaker 5: I mean, that's the same kind of thing. And I
- 20:30Speaker 5: mean I would just say, like, I still really like
- 20:33Speaker 5: Will Campbell, like and it's it's too bad with the
- 20:35Speaker 5: arm link thing because I think he's still kind of
- 20:38Speaker 5: a generational cross with that the athleticism. So I know
- 20:41Speaker 5: we had the list of you know, there's only six
- 20:43Speaker 5: guys that have arms, Well there are people that have
- 20:45Speaker 5: there are six that I know, it's not overwhelming, but
- 20:48Speaker 5: you know, there's still part of me that says, Will
- 20:50Speaker 5: Campbell has the athleticism that you're looking for and He
- 20:53Speaker 5: also has that kind of swagger that I think mirrors
- 20:57Speaker 5: Rabel a little bit reminds me of Taylor Lawana a
- 20:59Speaker 5: little little bit, you know, has that cockiness, has that confidence.
- 21:02Speaker 5: I loved his answer at the combine when he said,
- 21:04Speaker 5: you know, I like scoring touchdowns. I don't care about
- 21:06Speaker 5: zone or gap schemes. I want to score touchdowns. I
- 21:09Speaker 5: like his attitude. I really like the kid. It's just
- 21:12Speaker 5: a question of overdrafting the right position. And I think
- 21:15Speaker 5: if you overdraft Membo a little bit as a right tackle, okay,
- 21:18Speaker 5: Like if you know for sure he's a right tackle
- 21:20Speaker 5: and he's going to be there for ten years, great.
- 21:22Speaker 5: I have less confidence if he's going to end up
- 21:24Speaker 5: a left guard.
- 21:24Speaker 3: I mean, I know we've heard that Dante Scarneki might
- 21:28Speaker 3: be doing something. He says no, but I would definitely
- 21:31Speaker 3: send him out maybe with you know, Morone, and do
- 21:36Speaker 3: a private workout with this guy, just to make sure
- 21:38Speaker 3: we're not missing something.
- 21:39Speaker 8: With Will Campbell, yeah, I mean, look that I think
- 21:42Speaker 8: that people misconstrue the like the arm lane thing with
- 21:47Speaker 8: the talent, Like there's no question that he's talented. Like
- 21:49Speaker 8: he's going to be a heck of an offensive lineman,
- 21:52Speaker 8: whether it's inside or outside for a very long time
- 21:54Speaker 8: in the league. But it comes back to positional value
- 21:58Speaker 8: and are you going to take a guard at for
- 22:00Speaker 8: overall and all that good stuff. I just I had
- 22:04Speaker 8: concerns a little bit about the arm length and how
- 22:06Speaker 8: it showed up on film, and then he came out
- 22:09Speaker 8: with not even just under threshold arms, but we're talking
- 22:12Speaker 8: about arms wingspan, like he's just not long enough to
- 22:17Speaker 8: play the position. So the list of six guys, yes,
- 22:21Speaker 8: there are six guys, but none of them are great.
- 22:24Speaker 8: Like there you know, Bernard Raymond with the Colts is
- 22:26Speaker 8: probably the best one out of the group, and he's
- 22:28Speaker 8: like a borderline pro bowler. Like if you're gonna take
- 22:31Speaker 8: a guy at four overall, then you want that guy
- 22:33Speaker 8: to be Lane Johnson, right, You don't want him to
- 22:36Speaker 8: be He's fine. So I think that's the problem that
- 22:40Speaker 8: I have with Will Campbell is if he plays tackle,
- 22:43Speaker 8: I think his ceiling is significantly lower.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Let me ask you.
- 22:47Speaker 5: Can I ask you a question though, because this is
- 22:48Speaker 5: like what I was thinking about, to any of those guys,
- 22:50Speaker 5: do you think have the level of athleticism that Will
- 22:52Speaker 5: Campbell has? Like Bernard Raymond I know he was rough
- 22:55Speaker 5: coming out from Germany and stuff. But you know, that's
- 22:57Speaker 5: the thing I find myself thinking, like, is he is
- 23:00Speaker 5: he more athletic than any of those six guys athletic
- 23:02Speaker 5: enough to overcome the lack of length. I just I
- 23:05Speaker 5: can't totally write him off.
- 23:06Speaker 6: Just I just would be stunned if he ends up
- 23:08Speaker 6: being a tackle based on those numbers. I don't know,
- 23:11Speaker 6: Like I've said this a million times. I'm not Dante,
- 23:14Speaker 6: so I can't tell you exactly why those arm lengths
- 23:19Speaker 6: and wingspan don't allow you to play tackle, but the
- 23:24Speaker 6: numbers no.
- 23:24Speaker 3: But I get I get the length. I get, you know,
- 23:27Speaker 3: being able to establish that first hit at a certain
- 23:30Speaker 3: distance so that you're not you know, getting off balance.
- 23:33Speaker 3: But we're talking about less than half an inch.
- 23:36Speaker 6: That's a lot. And this is the conversation I had
- 23:39Speaker 6: about that's a big difference, like two tenths of a second.
- 23:44Speaker 8: And we're also talking like thirty three is like the
- 23:47Speaker 8: new threshold. But it used to be thirty four. Oh really,
- 23:50Speaker 8: and then they moved and then Rashaan Slater reset it
- 23:52Speaker 8: to thirty three, and so now it's been reset to
- 23:55Speaker 8: thirty three. So now we're talking about like a real
- 23:57Speaker 8: bottom line, like it's got to be in the ballpark
- 24:00Speaker 8: at thirty three. I think with him, you know, with Campbell,
- 24:04Speaker 8: he just he has to be aggressive in his past
- 24:07Speaker 8: sets because he doesn't have the length to sit back
- 24:10Speaker 8: and wait. So he goes out and he jumps out there,
- 24:13Speaker 8: and then guys will just go inside, so they'll spin
- 24:15Speaker 8: move or they'll counter inside, and he opens up that
- 24:18Speaker 8: inside to the quarterback a lot. And you see that
- 24:21Speaker 8: happen quite a bit for him. So if he sits
- 24:23Speaker 8: back now he's gonna get people are gonna get into
- 24:26Speaker 8: his chest, and he's going to lose the leverage battles, right,
- 24:28Speaker 8: And so he's this powerful, great athlete that if he
- 24:33Speaker 8: played guard, he's probably an all pro guard. But again,
- 24:37Speaker 8: is that work the fourth overall pick? I don't think so.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Maybe it might be, you know, you might be able
- 24:42Speaker 6: to talk yourself. Is membo now like the number one tackle?
- 24:47Speaker 8: It's like the it's like the popular thing to say.
- 24:50Speaker 6: Right now, you know, right because he had similar kind
- 24:52Speaker 6: of raw scords, right yeah, yeah, no, both under under five.
- 25:01Speaker 8: He's extremely athletics.
- 25:02Speaker 6: Not that necessarily, I.
- 25:05Speaker 5: Just just the one feed of human strength life speed,
- 25:08Speaker 5: Like it's just impressive.
- 25:10Speaker 8: Yeah, he's only six three six four, So like when
- 25:13Speaker 8: I watched his tape, like he's he pitter patters a
- 25:16Speaker 8: little bit, like he's got short strides and so like
- 25:19Speaker 8: I don't I don't love those types of guys typically
- 25:21Speaker 8: because it takes them five steps to get where it
- 25:24Speaker 8: takes other guys three. That's one thing that Campbell has
- 25:26Speaker 8: working for him is he's you know, six five sixty six,
- 25:29Speaker 8: so he does have that that stride length, but he's
- 25:32Speaker 8: he's really athletic, he's really strong, and yeah, that that's
- 25:35Speaker 8: like becoming the new popular take, you know, the the
- 25:39Speaker 8: trendy take is that he's the best alignment in the draft.
- 25:43Speaker 5: So you don't know about Josh, like what Josh Simmons
- 25:45Speaker 5: would have done if he could have tested him in
- 25:47Speaker 5: part of it, like might he be the one who
- 25:49Speaker 5: shot up the draft boards?
- 25:50Speaker 8: Yeah, I think with Josh Simmons. Uh, I keep saying this,
- 25:54Speaker 8: but he didn't play anybody, and and so we're we're
- 25:57Speaker 8: really looking at five games at the beginning of Ohio
- 26:00Speaker 8: state schedule where he's dominant against not NFL caliber talent
- 26:05Speaker 8: mactim So like when he got to the College Football
- 26:08Speaker 8: Playoff and they were playing you know, all these teams
- 26:11Speaker 8: in you know, Oregon and Texas and whatever, like, you know,
- 26:15Speaker 8: would he have been just as good or would the
- 26:18Speaker 8: warts have started to show up when he went up
- 26:21Speaker 8: against the NFL caliber talent Like, we'll never know. So
- 26:24Speaker 8: you're basically picking him in the first round based off
- 26:26Speaker 8: of five games against like Western Kentucky in Michigan State,
- 26:30Speaker 8: who was like the worst team did Yeah, so he
- 26:34Speaker 8: and he measured with thirty three and charms on the notes.
- 26:36Speaker 5: So he's got all the measurables.
- 26:39Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he does.
- 26:41Speaker 3: All right. Like I said, I, I would want to
- 26:44Speaker 3: get Dante's input on this thing, you know, and if
- 26:47Speaker 3: he comes back and says, you know what, he can
- 26:49Speaker 3: play tackle.
- 26:49Speaker 6: I would only want that if Dante's coaching him. Yeah. Well,
- 26:54Speaker 6: I don't want someone that doesn't fit the prototype of
- 26:57Speaker 6: unless Dante's actually coaching him. I think he could figure
- 27:00Speaker 6: give it out. Yeah, fair enough, Okay, all right.
- 27:03Speaker 5: Which I think feeds into we Dante had a quote
- 27:05Speaker 5: like last month he wouldn't draft an offensive lineman that high,
- 27:07Speaker 5: and I was like, yeah, because you're coaching him, you're going
- 27:09Speaker 5: to be able to develop guys like some of us.
- 27:11Speaker 5: We just need to get talent that can't you know,
- 27:13Speaker 5: has some degree of safety to it.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Who was the Mike Mamula of this combine? Oh geez,
- 27:20Speaker 3: you don't know who. Mike guy.
- 27:23Speaker 5: Average guy who blew up the combine with their testing.
- 27:26Speaker 8: Average guy that blew up the combine.
- 27:29Speaker 5: I know the opposite of Mike Mamula was the tes
- 27:32Speaker 5: Tes tes walker. John guy from from Oregon, was going
- 27:39Speaker 5: to run fast five and fifty but it weighs.
- 27:42Speaker 6: About one hundred and twenty pounds and.
- 27:43Speaker 8: He ran four or five one. He redeemed himself. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 8: he ran a fantastic agilities three cone short shuttle. So
- 27:54Speaker 8: he's got he's quick, he's not fast, and he he tested,
- 27:58Speaker 8: you know, just to defend my guy a little bit,
- 28:00Speaker 8: he tested exactly like Tank Dell did, coming out like same,
- 28:04Speaker 8: almost exactly same forty. Tank Dell didn't do agilities at
- 28:07Speaker 8: the combine. But you think you can tell that that
- 28:09Speaker 8: guy's quick. So they're basically the same, the same athlete,
- 28:14Speaker 8: same size, same forty everything. So uh, that's test Johnson.
- 28:18Speaker 8: That's one and fifty's he has about ten pounds on him.
- 28:23Speaker 8: But I think you know, some of that's NFL strength
- 28:27Speaker 8: and conditioning all that good stuff. But yeah, I I
- 28:30Speaker 8: don't know your question.
- 28:32Speaker 5: I mean it might be Membo.
- 28:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean it might be the guy from Bembo
- 28:36Speaker 8: was already like a top ten, top fifteen guy, though.
- 28:39Speaker 8: I think it just just helped him get into this
- 28:41Speaker 8: conversation of possibly being, uh, the fourth overall pick. I
- 28:45Speaker 8: would just say, like every single running back, like the
- 28:48Speaker 8: running back forty was like, I mean, you were, it
- 28:51Speaker 8: was incredible. They did run good for four four four
- 28:54Speaker 8: four four four four, Like everyone was a.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Big guy that ran down. So what I forget his name.
- 28:59Speaker 6: Now they're all blending in who's the guy that the bigger,
- 29:02Speaker 6: like two hundred and twenty five pound guy that.
- 29:06Speaker 8: I don't know. There were so many of them it'll
- 29:07Speaker 8: come to me. Yeah, I mean all those guys were
- 29:12Speaker 8: were impressive. I mean every like, take your pick at
- 29:15Speaker 8: running back, like you could probably get starting caliber running
- 29:18Speaker 8: backsit until the fifth round in this draft.
- 29:20Speaker 5: That was a big point. Evan and I talked yesterday.
- 29:22Speaker 5: The tight end group, the running back group. It's I
- 29:24Speaker 5: don't think that they're gonna I mean, we can't talk
- 29:26Speaker 5: about Tyler Warren is maybe an option to be like,
- 29:28Speaker 5: we got nobody else, let's pick him up top. But
- 29:31Speaker 5: I think both those positions, it's really that second third
- 29:34Speaker 5: round pick, you know, early day three, like in there
- 29:38Speaker 5: this quality running back, quality titles.
- 29:40Speaker 8: The guy was thinking this is like this is like
- 29:42Speaker 8: do saning Malik Nabbers.
- 29:44Speaker 9: He's he's a guy I couldn't remember.
- 29:48Speaker 6: Yeah, but like twenty one and he ran like a
- 29:52Speaker 6: four or five.
- 29:53Speaker 5: Yeah, him and the guy to run like him, and
- 29:55Speaker 5: the Ohio State guy is probably out of it for
- 29:57Speaker 5: the Patriots, I would guess. But I just what I
- 29:59Speaker 5: said to Evan yesterday, like I'm really trying to look
- 30:01Speaker 5: at those mid round running backs because I mean even
- 30:03Speaker 5: Daniel Jeremiah said it on the broadcast, like their starters
- 30:06Speaker 5: to be had into early day three at the running
- 30:08Speaker 5: back position. So I think it's a spot they got
- 30:11Speaker 5: to take a take a chance on.
- 30:12Speaker 6: See.
- 30:13Speaker 5: I just I don't know how Stevenson and Antonio Gibson
- 30:17Speaker 5: fit what Rabel wants to do. We don't know what
- 30:19Speaker 5: Rabel and Josh want to do. So I just think
- 30:22Speaker 5: that's a really appealing position. Grab one of those, you know,
- 30:24Speaker 5: running backs later and maybe prospering.
- 30:28Speaker 3: No, it's just like there's so many other things that
- 30:30Speaker 3: I think are.
- 30:32Speaker 5: Legit, like what is you know, good like? And that's why.
- 30:35Speaker 8: That's my take on the whole thing is like this
- 30:37Speaker 8: is a defensive line in running backs class, and so
- 30:40Speaker 8: what with free agency? Set yourself up to hit those
- 30:44Speaker 8: positions in the draft, like whatever if you have to
- 30:46Speaker 8: sign Cam Robinson or trade for a receiver, whatever the
- 30:50Speaker 8: case may be, Like, don't go into the draft with
- 30:53Speaker 8: with needing positions that the draft is.
- 30:55Speaker 6: They have burial holes in free agency that they can't
- 30:58Speaker 6: fill in the draft, like those two spots wide receiver
- 31:02Speaker 6: and so.
- 31:03Speaker 3: So, so let's talk about free agency. What's what's the
- 31:06Speaker 3: current status? The Bengals announced that they are going to
- 31:11Speaker 3: franchise T Higgins, So I guess that puts him out
- 31:16Speaker 3: of play for the Patriots. What are we thinking?
- 31:20Speaker 5: Yeah, we just we shot a free agency preview that
- 31:23Speaker 5: will air tomorrow talking dive into a lot of this stuff.
- 31:26Speaker 5: I think it's it's tough. I mean we also talked
- 31:28Speaker 5: about Ronnie Stanley, who you know, there's some clear bells
- 31:31Speaker 5: of the ball in free agency, but you're kind of
- 31:33Speaker 5: holding your breath this week that those guys like Higgins
- 31:36Speaker 5: probably going back to the Bengals. I think we all
- 31:38Speaker 5: assume Stanley's gonna go back. It's there's just not a
- 31:40Speaker 5: lot of easy answers at some of the biggest positions
- 31:43Speaker 5: in need. So I agree with what Evan said, plug
- 31:45Speaker 5: those holes now, but I think they're going to have
- 31:48Speaker 5: to be creative and they're gonna have to hit on
- 31:50Speaker 5: some guys that maybe when they sign him initially, you're
- 31:53Speaker 5: not like, all right, Ronnie Stanley, it's gonna be kind
- 31:55Speaker 5: of a B level guy maybe, you know.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Unfortunately, the Eagles released Darius yesterday. Do you think other
- 32:02Speaker 3: guys might come free like that?
- 32:04Speaker 5: You know, I think so, I mean specifically that, yeah,
- 32:07Speaker 5: but I think specific to the cornerback position has one
- 32:10Speaker 5: area that that is strong, you know, I would say
- 32:12Speaker 5: in free agency, and I think they're in position to
- 32:15Speaker 5: maybe change that position, group up a little bit, make
- 32:17Speaker 5: some additions. And I think the scuttle butt out of
- 32:19Speaker 5: Indy was there maybe trying to work something out with
- 32:21Speaker 5: Jonathan Jones, which I'd be fine with. Maybe is a
- 32:24Speaker 5: safety now though, I just I don't know if he
- 32:26Speaker 5: I think he's been miscast as an outside corner these
- 32:29Speaker 5: last few years.
- 32:30Speaker 6: I kind of agree with him, you.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Know, I mean, Jonathan Jones could be that free safety
- 32:34Speaker 3: that we're looking for, you know, yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 8: I mean it's becoming a lot more popular to play
- 32:39Speaker 8: like a nickel safety, where like he kind of blends
- 32:42Speaker 8: the positions between free safety and slot corner. And I
- 32:47Speaker 8: think that maybe that's a way that you could go
- 32:48Speaker 8: with Jonathan Jones. I do like Travarious Ward in free agency,
- 32:52Speaker 8: and I think, you know, all the reports coming out
- 32:55Speaker 8: of the Combiner that Milton Williams is like they're number
- 32:57Speaker 8: one target. I mean, everybody's saying that other than if
- 33:00Speaker 8: they can land a big fish at wide receiver, that
- 33:03Speaker 8: Milton Williams is their guy.
- 33:05Speaker 5: But I thought not to give anything around our free agency,
- 33:07Speaker 5: but I thought you had a really good take on him,
- 33:08Speaker 5: and it was, you know, Milton Williams was kind of
- 33:10Speaker 5: a I mean, he's forty eight percent snap guy. I mean, yes,
- 33:12Speaker 5: he's young, but with more of a rotational player. I mean,
- 33:15Speaker 5: he's a rotational player behind arguably two of the best
- 33:18Speaker 5: you know, defensive front guys in the in the league,
- 33:21Speaker 5: you know, in Jalen Carter. I don't know. I mean,
- 33:23Speaker 5: i I'm all for signing that position. I think they
- 33:26Speaker 5: need to remake that position. But I also think that
- 33:28Speaker 5: there's a little bit of buyer beware with Milt Williams
- 33:30Speaker 5: and is he going to be an every down player
- 33:32Speaker 5: for you? What are you going to pay him?
- 33:33Speaker 7: Like?
- 33:33Speaker 5: Is he gonna be able to deliver on that contract
- 33:36Speaker 5: or is he going to be somewhat redundant to what
- 33:38Speaker 5: Barmore was before Barmore really emerged two years ago as
- 33:41Speaker 5: an every down player.
- 33:43Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm always wary of the guys that were like
- 33:45Speaker 8: the guy getting all the single blocks because Jalen Carter's
- 33:48Speaker 8: got three guys on him and Milton Williams is just
- 33:51Speaker 8: one on one. It's like, yeah, that always wearies me
- 33:55Speaker 8: a little bit. And you come off the Super Bowl
- 33:57Speaker 8: like how motive? You just won a super Bowl? So like,
- 34:00Speaker 8: you just got won a super Bowl, it's gonna get paid,
- 34:02Speaker 8: just got paid. And now you're seeing double teams every
- 34:05Speaker 8: week because Jalen Carter is.
- 34:06Speaker 5: Not next to you.
- 34:08Speaker 8: You know, if barbar is next to you, then that's
- 34:09Speaker 8: a different story.
- 34:10Speaker 6: But we just also look at what Philadelphia does, you know,
- 34:14Speaker 6: who do they retain, who do they allow to go?
- 34:16Speaker 6: And then I would say what you guys are talking
- 34:19Speaker 6: about if they're just willing to let all the you know,
- 34:21Speaker 6: so it looks like they're letting the corners go. So
- 34:24Speaker 6: they drafted a terrific young one and Mitchell right. So
- 34:29Speaker 6: I think Bradbury was hurt last year. Slay obviously played
- 34:34Speaker 6: they already they released him once already last year and
- 34:38Speaker 6: they ended up bringing him back. If they just allow
- 34:41Speaker 6: Milton Williams to go and they don't really make a
- 34:43Speaker 6: big effort to resign them. Same with Bond. They're telling
- 34:46Speaker 6: you what they think. Shift they're part you know, they're
- 34:50Speaker 6: parts of the machine, but they're not the machine. We're
- 34:53Speaker 6: going to make sure that we hold on to Davis
- 34:55Speaker 6: and and uh, you know Cotter in the middle, and
- 34:59Speaker 6: we're gonna we're gonna go from there. So when we
- 35:03Speaker 6: did our free agent thing, I compared it to the
- 35:05Speaker 6: old Ravens kind of mentality that yeah, they made sure
- 35:09Speaker 6: that ray you know that ray Lewis State and you.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Know Sugs Nada and ray Lewis Suggs State.
- 35:14Speaker 6: And Plodi Nada State. But you know, if Daleis Thomas
- 35:18Speaker 6: wanted to go or you know Ladarius Web I think
- 35:21Speaker 6: is that the old corner that I'm thinking of. So, Ladarius,
- 35:26Speaker 6: I don't know why that's what. Yeah, it's it's just
- 35:30Speaker 6: sticking in my head. Those guys came and went, but
- 35:33Speaker 6: the cock, the key cogs stayed in place. So I
- 35:35Speaker 6: think you'll learn a lot because Philadelphia knows what they're
- 35:37Speaker 6: doing from a personnel standpoint.
- 35:39Speaker 5: Yeah. I think it's a great way to put it, too,
- 35:40Speaker 5: because really it just reduces the question to what key
- 35:43Speaker 5: cogs can the Patriots get in free agency, and not
- 35:46Speaker 5: just the need they need some not just guys who
- 35:49Speaker 5: profited off of team success, but guys who really were
- 35:51Speaker 5: making you know, the straws during the drink.
- 35:54Speaker 6: Like you can put you can cast a wide net
- 35:56Speaker 6: with you know, five six guys modest short term, you know,
- 36:02Speaker 6: modest contien right, But if you're gonna the big fish
- 36:08Speaker 6: is that you try to land, you have to make
- 36:10Speaker 6: sure that big fish is worthy of being that you
- 36:13Speaker 6: can't miss on Milton Williams or on Zurich. You know,
- 36:17Speaker 6: you have to make sure that if you're going to
- 36:18Speaker 6: invest in a guy that you hit it's just as
- 36:22Speaker 6: important last year they didn't.
- 36:24Speaker 5: Yeah, that's why dre Green laws appealing to me. I
- 36:26Speaker 5: just I feel like he's a guy reduced value a
- 36:29Speaker 5: little bit. And I mean, I know there's some speculation
- 36:32Speaker 5: maybe he would do a one year kind of prove
- 36:34Speaker 5: it deal, but why wait, you know, just sign that
- 36:37Speaker 5: guy up, pay him. I think I don't think you
- 36:39Speaker 5: would regret it with that kind of player.
- 36:42Speaker 8: I'm in this in that boat with Javon Holland. Like,
- 36:44Speaker 8: I just think Javon Holland makes a lot of sense,
- 36:47Speaker 8: Like he's probably going to be, if not the best
- 36:50Speaker 8: overall player in free agency, you know, in the top
- 36:52Speaker 8: two or three. And I just I still come back
- 36:55Speaker 8: to I just don't I never really loved Kyle Duggar
- 36:58Speaker 8: and Jabriel Peppers together. Like I thought that those were
- 37:01Speaker 8: two guys kind of both played the same position and
- 37:04Speaker 8: they were trying to make it work with them being
- 37:06Speaker 8: back there together. And if you get a guy like
- 37:08Speaker 8: Javon Holland, now you have that true free safety that
- 37:11Speaker 8: can play over the top.
- 37:12Speaker 6: And you were talking about Jonathan Jones and Scuttle But
- 37:16Speaker 6: one of the other things that I saw, everybody that
- 37:19Speaker 6: said that they want to bring him back also said
- 37:22Speaker 6: he knows he'd have to He's going to have to
- 37:23Speaker 6: take less. So That sort of tells me that if
- 37:27Speaker 6: they are interested, they've been talking to him already about safety,
- 37:29Speaker 6: because safeties don't make as much as corner. Yeah, so
- 37:32Speaker 6: if he's ready to make a transition, that would to
- 37:35Speaker 6: me make sense based on the reporting that came out
- 37:38Speaker 6: of a combine. Yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 5: One other thing Evan and I talked about at the combine,
- 37:41Speaker 5: just random off the cuffs, was just Isaiah Bolden. We
- 37:45Speaker 5: talked about trying to get bigger in the slot. Isaiah
- 37:48Speaker 5: Bolden was in the slot a lot, say, hard to
- 37:51Speaker 5: project him into a sizeable role, But if they did
- 37:54Speaker 5: want to move to a guy with size and speed
- 37:56Speaker 5: and a little bit different flair than playing Marcus Jones
- 37:59Speaker 5: or Jonathan Own in the slot, you know, maybe he's
- 38:01Speaker 5: an in house option to consider with competition.
- 38:03Speaker 6: He's a guy I want to watch a lot in
- 38:05Speaker 6: the spring to see if he can do that. Yeah,
- 38:07Speaker 6: because I mean that he definitely can run. I mean
- 38:11Speaker 6: he's got speeds unknown quantity. I don't know if he's
- 38:14Speaker 6: quick enough to play inside. We'll see. I haven't seen
- 38:18Speaker 6: enough of him.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Nope.
- 38:19Speaker 3: All right, let's get to some emails and calls podcasts
- 38:22Speaker 3: at Patriots dot com. Is the email address eight five
- 38:25Speaker 3: to five Pats five hundred is the Patriots unfiltered hotline.
- 38:29Speaker 3: After March first, Andrew is in Middleton, New Jersey, and
- 38:32Speaker 3: he quotes a Mike Giardi tweet says, over the last decade,
- 38:37Speaker 3: one hundred and eighteen offensive linemen were drafted in rounds
- 38:40Speaker 3: one and two. Twenty one of those one hundred and
- 38:42Speaker 3: eighteen had an arm length of thirty three inches or
- 38:45Speaker 3: shorter and a sub eighty inch wing span. Ten became guards,
- 38:49Speaker 3: ten centers one and only one is a tackle, Luke Goodeki.
- 38:55Speaker 8: So yeah, I was like what I was saying before.
- 38:57Speaker 8: He's on that list of six guys that I tweeted out,
- 39:00Speaker 8: and he's a fine players. He's not the fourth overall
- 39:05Speaker 8: pick in a draft, you know, like he's a NFL starter,
- 39:08Speaker 8: But it ends there. And that's not to pick on
- 39:11Speaker 8: good Decky. It's just if that's what you get out
- 39:13Speaker 8: of the fourth overall pick, we're all going to be disappointed.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Floyd and Redford, Michigan, He says, mister Floyd, please someone
- 39:20Speaker 3: defend Mason Graham. There was a Mason Graham tweet that
- 39:24Speaker 3: indicated he played at three hundred and fifteen pounds but
- 39:26Speaker 3: he trimmed down to test at the Combine. He apparently
- 39:29Speaker 3: bruised his heel, which is why he didn't work out.
- 39:33Speaker 8: Okay, so he lost twenty pounds since the season. Yeah,
- 39:37Speaker 8: I mean it's possible. I guess it.
- 39:39Speaker 6: Does they do?
- 39:40Speaker 10: You know that?
- 39:41Speaker 6: But who happens that time?
- 39:42Speaker 3: If someone told him to do that, that's bad because
- 39:45Speaker 3: you want to see him work out at his playing weight.
- 39:48Speaker 6: So I don't know. You guys can fill me in
- 39:51Speaker 6: because they're playing like Milton Williams. Let's get back to
- 39:54Speaker 6: Milton Williams. What do you think he weighs eight? He's
- 39:58Speaker 6: a smaller penetrating interior defensive lineman. So I'm not out
- 40:04Speaker 6: on Mason Graham because he weighed two ninety six or
- 40:07Speaker 6: whatever he did at the Combine, But is he that
- 40:09Speaker 6: kind of a player?
- 40:11Speaker 3: Right?
- 40:11Speaker 8: You know?
- 40:12Speaker 6: And I'm not saying Aaron Donald, but everybody understands what
- 40:15Speaker 6: we're talking about when you use the word Aaron and Donald.
- 40:19Speaker 6: He's an undersized freak of an athlete who plays on
- 40:22Speaker 6: the inside and dominates. Not suggesting that someone coming out
- 40:26Speaker 6: of the draft is going to do that. Special player,
- 40:29Speaker 6: But you don't have to be three twenty to play
- 40:31Speaker 6: defensive line in the NFL. There are a lot of examples,
- 40:34Speaker 6: but you need to be that kind of an athlete.
- 40:36Speaker 6: Is Mason Grant that kind But.
- 40:38Speaker 3: They were saying that's what made him special to me
- 40:41Speaker 3: is that he showed that kind of athleticism at three
- 40:44Speaker 3: hundred and twenty pounds, Mason Grant.
- 40:47Speaker 6: I don't see him being that big.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 6: I mean maybe I'm just sort of catching up and
- 40:52Speaker 6: you guys have been on this, you know, because you
- 40:54Speaker 6: guys do a lot more research on it than I do.
- 40:56Speaker 6: He doesn't. But he doesn't look that big. He didn't
- 40:58Speaker 6: look that big on tape. When I watch, he's one
- 41:00Speaker 6: of the guys that have already watched a little bit.
- 41:03Speaker 6: He's got to, you know, all the cliches. He's kind
- 41:06Speaker 6: of really high motor. He's very disruptive. He pushes the pocket.
- 41:10Speaker 6: But I don't see like this elite athleticism. Is that
- 41:13Speaker 6: what he is.
- 41:14Speaker 8: No, I think he's an elite technician. I think he
- 41:16Speaker 8: plays with great leverage, great hand technique. You know, I
- 41:20Speaker 8: think Dame Bruger called him a leverage king, Like he's
- 41:23Speaker 8: just he gets underneath you. He uses his low center
- 41:25Speaker 8: of gravity. He's really strong in his lower body, and
- 41:29Speaker 8: so you can just kind of get underneath guys and
- 41:31Speaker 8: just hold you know, win the pad level. You know,
- 41:35Speaker 8: just win be the lower man all the time. But
- 41:38Speaker 8: I don't see him as a stellar athlete, and like
- 41:41Speaker 8: maybe he did have an injury. If I was advising
- 41:44Speaker 8: Mason Graham, I would have told him to sit out
- 41:46Speaker 8: the combine because I don't think the combine is for
- 41:49Speaker 8: Mason Graham, Like don't. I don't think he was going
- 41:51Speaker 8: to put on a show at the combine, and I
- 41:53Speaker 8: think that only could have hurt his stock because he's
- 41:56Speaker 8: already tosting.
- 41:57Speaker 6: If Floyd, you know, Floyd has some inside knowledge there
- 41:59Speaker 6: being from Michigan, you know, if that's what his plan was,
- 42:03Speaker 6: was to go and really test well with the combine
- 42:05Speaker 6: and then he ultimately couldn't do it. And maybe he
- 42:09Speaker 6: is more of a three twenty kind of guy, but
- 42:11Speaker 6: I would wonder can he play every down at the size.
- 42:15Speaker 5: And that's I mean, at least with Milton Williams, you've
- 42:17Speaker 5: got tape on him, and you said the NFL two guys,
- 42:20Speaker 5: he's not an Everlay.
- 42:23Speaker 8: Had eight guys that they could rotate.
- 42:26Speaker 5: But I mean, I think with both. You're talking about
- 42:28Speaker 5: a little bit of a projection either way, you know.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Patrick and Otawa says, the way you're talking, you make
- 42:34Speaker 3: Schaudors Sanders sound like Tim Tebow.
- 42:36Speaker 6: No no, no, no, no, no. He's a good but Shedea,
- 42:39Speaker 6: Sanders is a good player. I'm just not sure he's
- 42:41Speaker 6: a great player. I'm not sure he has the chance
- 42:43Speaker 6: to be great. Yeah, but he's a good player. He
- 42:46Speaker 6: had success at Colorado. I don't he's a good player.
- 42:50Speaker 5: I just I draw a little bit of contrast to
- 42:51Speaker 5: I was impressed by Travis Hunter. I thought he handled
- 42:55Speaker 5: all of that pretty well in terms of the circus
- 42:57Speaker 5: around him of what position do you want to play?
- 43:00Speaker 5: You know, I just liked his attitude going into that
- 43:03Speaker 5: was what does the team want? And he seemed open
- 43:06Speaker 5: to that. I think a more sugar type approach would
- 43:10Speaker 5: have been, I'm playing both ways, don't drappy if you
- 43:12Speaker 5: don't want me to play both ways. But I think
- 43:15Speaker 5: he was open and no reserve quiet. He's another guy
- 43:18Speaker 5: at the combine, like the all podium team. I think
- 43:20Speaker 5: where I mean for good reason. I mean, obviously the
- 43:22Speaker 5: guy is insanely talented, but just had that confidence and
- 43:25Speaker 5: I think anytime a player wears like big glasses, you
- 43:28Speaker 5: know they're that They're like, all right, this guy he
- 43:30Speaker 5: knows he can play. He didn't even care. He's going
- 43:32Speaker 5: up there in coke Pola glasses like he gets fixated. No,
- 43:36Speaker 5: what's blanket on the Georgiica. From that went to Philly,
- 43:39Speaker 5: the Edge guy undersized Edge Smith, Nolan Smith, same thing,
- 43:42Speaker 5: like walks up there with these big glasses on and like,
- 43:45Speaker 5: oh dude, this guy knows, he complained.
- 43:46Speaker 8: Yeah, I was shocked by how many people have Travis
- 43:50Speaker 8: Hunter as a wide receiver. Like I thought I was
- 43:52Speaker 8: kind of on an island.
- 43:53Speaker 6: With that, but I seems to think.
- 43:55Speaker 8: I would say it's like at worse fifty to fifty
- 43:58Speaker 8: and might even be more tilting towards wide receiver. I
- 44:01Speaker 8: just think that it's just a more valuable position to teams,
- 44:03Speaker 8: and if he can be a number one wide receiver,
- 44:05Speaker 8: it's more valuable to us in him being a number
- 44:08Speaker 8: one corner.
- 44:08Speaker 3: Yeah, Bill and Vista, California. Any thoughts on the reported
- 44:12Speaker 3: rumors about the Patriots possibly training for Ayuk. There were
- 44:17Speaker 3: a fan X report in addition to Jordan Schultz saying
- 44:20Speaker 3: the Patriots were planning on being aggressive at attaining a
- 44:23Speaker 3: wide receiver. That and the forty nine ers are open
- 44:26Speaker 3: to training him where they're Where there is smoke, there
- 44:30Speaker 3: is usually fire. What would you say most would Yeah,
- 44:34Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 44:34Speaker 5: I just see someone who explain to me why, Like,
- 44:36Speaker 5: I mean, they just resigned Bran. I don't realize willing
- 44:39Speaker 5: to get rid of it.
- 44:39Speaker 6: I don't really understand the whole premise. But I have
- 44:41Speaker 6: seen the report that San Francisco is interested in trading,
- 44:43Speaker 6: are you? I have seen?
- 44:47Speaker 5: I mean that's what I mean, Like.
- 44:48Speaker 6: Like Deebo became a pain for them, Like I don't
- 44:51Speaker 6: think I maybe they they view Ayuk the same way.
- 44:54Speaker 6: But the other guy who sort of filled in early
- 44:58Speaker 6: in the year is a Jennings.
- 44:59Speaker 8: Yep, he's really good.
- 45:00Speaker 6: He's a free agent, right.
- 45:02Speaker 8: No, they signed him to a contract.
- 45:03Speaker 6: They did sign him, Okay, Otherwise.
- 45:05Speaker 8: If he was a free agent, I'd be like, I'm.
- 45:07Speaker 6: Wondering, like, who's going to be there receiving and it's
- 45:10Speaker 6: just it's it's just the one guy. Now, Yeah, I
- 45:13Speaker 6: would be surprised unless someone really knocks them over.
- 45:17Speaker 5: Like what went wrong though I haven't just haven't seen
- 45:19Speaker 5: it get hurt. And experience, but like, yeah, yeah, but
- 45:23Speaker 5: just signed steel right.
- 45:25Speaker 8: Like, yeah, he tours ACL in October. You know, Kendrick Bourne,
- 45:28Speaker 8: that's it.
- 45:29Speaker 3: We're out for it.
- 45:29Speaker 8: It's obviously different people healed differently, But Kendrick Bourne tours
- 45:32Speaker 8: ACL in October two years ago and missed a lot
- 45:35Speaker 8: of the season last year. Yeah, it really wasn't the
- 45:39Speaker 8: same guy for all of last year. So you're really
- 45:43Speaker 8: if you're trading for AUK, you're trading for twenty twenty six.
- 45:46Speaker 8: I would think, like thinking that he's going to get
- 45:47Speaker 8: it all the way back the year removed from the
- 45:50Speaker 8: A C L at most, like you're giving him one
- 45:54Speaker 8: of your third round picks, if you know, Like, why
- 45:56Speaker 8: would you do any more than that?
- 45:58Speaker 6: I don't be interested. I'd be interested in the move.
- 46:01Speaker 6: I'm not sure I understand why San Francisco wants to
- 46:04Speaker 6: trade them.
- 46:04Speaker 3: That's my question, that's all.
- 46:05Speaker 6: But I would be interested in trading.
- 46:07Speaker 10: For you, just like I was.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I would.
- 46:09Speaker 5: I mean, they have to find something creative. I mean,
- 46:12Speaker 5: I'd love to see something like this, a move out
- 46:14Speaker 5: of nowhere that you aren't expecting. Because we've talked about
- 46:17Speaker 5: the wide receiver class. It was so much focus on
- 46:19Speaker 5: T Higgins and I think we can all talk ourselves
- 46:22Speaker 5: into Godwin. But that's a little bit of a risk too.
- 46:25Speaker 10: You know.
- 46:25Speaker 5: It's just there's no easy answer at wide receiver and
- 46:27Speaker 5: just oh, we can remake the position and sign this
- 46:29Speaker 5: guy and it's going to change everything.
- 46:30Speaker 6: Is the reason those guys, you know, if they ultimately
- 46:33Speaker 6: are available, that's why.
- 46:34Speaker 5: Yeah, and I would say it one more than two
- 46:36Speaker 5: on the draft. Like as bad as the wide receiver classes,
- 46:39Speaker 5: I'm intrigued by a lot of the mid round wide receivers.
- 46:41Speaker 5: I think that there's some traits, some fun stuff to
- 46:43Speaker 5: play with, you know, when we get into the second
- 46:45Speaker 5: and third rounds, I don't know if it'll make sense
- 46:47Speaker 5: for the Patriots. But as much as we talk about
- 46:49Speaker 5: Tech McMillan and you know, this class in general not
- 46:52Speaker 5: being outstanding what it's been in years past, I think
- 46:55Speaker 5: that there are some guys out there that that intrigue me.
- 46:57Speaker 5: And I'm saying it all off season and into now
- 46:59Speaker 5: is speed. You know, I want speed. Get some young
- 47:01Speaker 5: guys with some speed, have some questions.
- 47:05Speaker 6: That's what I wanted to do.
- 47:06Speaker 8: I think that some of those Day two wide receivers
- 47:09Speaker 8: tested too well, which I was kind of a bummer
- 47:12Speaker 8: for me. Especially the Iowa State guys like Higgins and
- 47:15Speaker 8: Noel can both play football.
- 47:17Speaker 6: Which one's mine?
- 47:18Speaker 5: Uh?
- 47:19Speaker 8: Higgins Higgins Higgins Higgins is you could use T Higgins
- 47:23Speaker 8: as a confer Jaden Higgins from Iowa State.
- 47:26Speaker 11: Uh.
- 47:26Speaker 8: And he he had a great day at the combine,
- 47:29Speaker 8: like tested way better than I expected, ran in the
- 47:32Speaker 8: four fours at like six pounds, like he did really well.
- 47:36Speaker 8: And now you're him and Jalen Nowell, who's the guy
- 47:39Speaker 8: I like?
- 47:39Speaker 12: Is?
- 47:39Speaker 8: Now both those guys are going to be like top
- 47:41Speaker 8: fifty picks. So it's like, if you don't take one
- 47:43Speaker 8: of those guys at thirty eight, you're probably not getting
- 47:46Speaker 8: that guy.
- 47:47Speaker 5: Isaiah another one we both like and has some crazy speed.
- 47:51Speaker 5: I mean he said he might break the record and
- 47:53Speaker 5: he ran like a four to four, which is great,
- 47:54Speaker 5: but still.
- 47:54Speaker 6: It's now my other guy Golden he first round.
- 47:58Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, so he ran a four two nine, so
- 48:01Speaker 8: he he uh yeah, he can move. I don't know
- 48:04Speaker 8: if he plays to four to nine like that might
- 48:06Speaker 8: be some tracks.
- 48:07Speaker 6: He's a good he's a good player though, very I
- 48:09Speaker 6: like him.
- 48:09Speaker 8: Very good route runner, very good hands. He's a great player.
- 48:13Speaker 8: He'll he'll be a top twenty five pick.
- 48:15Speaker 5: My thing with him and I said, it's having at
- 48:17Speaker 5: the combine is like I don't know how sharp he is.
- 48:19Speaker 5: I question how sharp he is seems a little bit.
- 48:23Speaker 6: The Texas offense with and without him was night and day.
- 48:26Speaker 6: Like there was I want to say, the Stataboo game
- 48:29Speaker 6: he left the game the Arizona State one. Yeah, he
- 48:31Speaker 6: got and that's when Texas. Texas was doing whatever it
- 48:34Speaker 6: wanted for most of that game and he got hurt
- 48:37Speaker 6: and they couldn't move. Now, sometimes that happens when when
- 48:40Speaker 6: you're not when you're not planning on being without a guy,
- 48:43Speaker 6: it has a bigger impact on a on an offensive coordinator.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Yep, you know.
- 48:48Speaker 6: So sometimes that's but he's he's an impact player.
- 48:51Speaker 5: We had actually cooked real quick. We had a funny
- 48:53Speaker 5: Skataboo moment. We were sitting in one of the tables.
- 48:55Speaker 5: I think it was the last day we were both
- 48:57Speaker 5: writing and uh, and there's like a curtain right here,
- 49:00Speaker 5: you know, it separates the two sides, and it was
- 49:01Speaker 5: just all of a sudden, like the curtain parted and
- 49:03Speaker 5: Scataboo just like walks in and like looks right out here.
- 49:06Speaker 6: Thriller was here.
- 49:07Speaker 3: He likes he tests.
- 49:10Speaker 8: He only jumped and jumped well though.
- 49:12Speaker 6: He had a jump that made the rounds jump forty
- 49:16Speaker 6: two or I think.
- 49:17Speaker 8: It was in the high thirties, which is really good
- 49:19Speaker 8: for running back. And he, uh, you can see it.
- 49:22Speaker 8: I mean he walked by us and his thighs are
- 49:24Speaker 8: you know running back thighs. You know those are those
- 49:27Speaker 8: are what you're looking for.
- 49:28Speaker 5: It wasn't even me, because I definitely gave him like,
- 49:32Speaker 5: let's see what his lower half looks like.
- 49:34Speaker 3: I like him.
- 49:35Speaker 8: Fifth round, yeah, fourth, fifth round, Yeah, sounds about right.
- 49:38Speaker 6: Day three guy football really all right, good football play.
- 49:41Speaker 3: Love to have him on it.
- 49:42Speaker 6: He's a good football.
- 49:43Speaker 3: He'd be welcome on my team.
- 49:44Speaker 8: But sure enough, you.
- 49:45Speaker 6: Rolled your eyes at the thought of taking a Day
- 49:47Speaker 6: three running back when Mike brought it up earlier.
- 49:50Speaker 3: Day three, No, I guess that's what Mike.
- 49:52Speaker 6: Was saying, like, not not investing a second round pick.
- 49:55Speaker 6: You're talking about later.
- 49:57Speaker 3: Yeah, late, it's fine.
- 49:58Speaker 8: Day three started at their fourth round pick. Is when
- 50:02Speaker 8: you start talking about running backs.
- 50:03Speaker 3: All right, I'm going to start eating my food when
- 50:06Speaker 3: we come back. We'll open up the faue lines. See

- 51:16Speaker 14: Matt Smith alongside with Paul Parrillo, and we were pleased
- 51:19Speaker 14: to be joined by number ninety three on your scoreboard,
- 51:22Speaker 14: but number one in our hearts the great Patriot and
- 51:26Speaker 14: Pro Football Hall of Famer Richard Seymour.
- 51:28Speaker 6: Richard, good to see you kid.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Good to be seeing, Good to be seeing. Last time
- 51:32Speaker 2: I was here, I got a red jacket, and now
- 51:36Speaker 2: come from Canton and I got the gold jacket on.
- 51:38Speaker 6: Now, no disrespect.
- 51:39Speaker 3: You look good at red.
- 51:42Speaker 6: That looks really really cool, Richard.
- 51:45Speaker 14: I wonder how many people said this, because this is
- 51:47Speaker 14: what I what.
- 51:47Speaker 6: Really struck me. Your speech was terrific.
- 51:53Speaker 14: You could tell you spent some time writing it, rehearsing it,
- 51:58Speaker 14: and it came from the heart, like a lot of
- 52:01Speaker 14: people like is vermeials going, And I don't mean no
- 52:10Speaker 14: disrespect because he's a very passionate guy and you sort
- 52:12Speaker 14: of expect that out of him, you know. But I
- 52:15Speaker 14: was just I was really struck in the moment that day.
- 52:17Speaker 14: It was hot as blazers and everything like that, and
- 52:19Speaker 14: I'm going, Wow, I didn't like, didn't she hit it
- 52:23Speaker 14: out of the park?
- 52:24Speaker 2: No, thank you so much. I got a lot of
- 52:26Speaker 2: reserved Yeah, no, thank you so much. It meant a lot.
- 52:29Speaker 3: You know.
- 52:30Speaker 2: I think I was there because I wanted to deliver
- 52:34Speaker 2: because it's such a huge moment and you want to
- 52:36Speaker 2: thank so many and you got six minutes to deliver
- 52:41Speaker 2: you know, a lifetime of journeys and people that meant
- 52:44Speaker 2: so much to you. So but then also you want
- 52:46Speaker 2: to do it in a way where it's not dry
- 52:49Speaker 2: and boring. So I had to It took some time
- 52:53Speaker 2: to really pull it, pull it all together in terms
- 52:56Speaker 2: of how I wanted to get it done. But you know,
- 52:59Speaker 2: my wife and is listened to me enough and I
- 53:01Speaker 2: gotta know, no, that's not it until I, you know,
- 53:06Speaker 2: finally got it together and I knew I was heading
- 53:08Speaker 2: down the right path. And you know, I'm just glad
- 53:10Speaker 2: that you know, it came across the right way on
- 53:13Speaker 2: that Saturday and can.
- 53:15Speaker 6: So what's different for you now, like you know after
- 53:17Speaker 6: being in because there was a couple of years you
- 53:19Speaker 6: were right on the edge and then you know, you
- 53:21Speaker 6: get you go through the door. Is life to any different?
- 53:26Speaker 2: Well, I just think now for me, you know, it's
- 53:31Speaker 2: an honor where like when they say football heaven, like
- 53:35Speaker 2: it's a it's a place where you my grandkids can
- 53:41Speaker 2: always go and look at what I've done in the
- 53:44Speaker 2: National Football League, and you know, it's just a place
- 53:47Speaker 2: of so much history and respect. And that's I think
- 53:52Speaker 2: for me, that's what I respect the most. It's a
- 53:54Speaker 2: it's a it's what's the right word, Like it's you know,
- 53:58Speaker 2: the prestigious historic, you know, And I'm always I always
- 54:03Speaker 2: like to pay respect to the people that came before me.
- 54:05Speaker 2: So now you know, to stand alongside a lot of
- 54:08Speaker 2: the greats, like, it's just a tremendous honor.
- 54:11Speaker 14: You know, they in my opinion, my words, not yours,
- 54:14Speaker 14: they do run your ragged that induction weekend. They run
- 54:17Speaker 14: you ragged. But do you think without having the pressure
- 54:22Speaker 14: on you, because I do think there's a lot of
- 54:23Speaker 14: pressure on it.
- 54:24Speaker 3: You talked about it. You wanted to do a nice job.
- 54:26Speaker 3: You know that meant something.
- 54:26Speaker 14: That's your legacy right right when they invite you next
- 54:30Speaker 14: year or the do you want to go and like
- 54:32Speaker 14: experience what it's like to just sort of, Oh, Tip,
- 54:35Speaker 14: you want to play golf?
- 54:36Speaker 3: Oh Tip, you want to play you know thirty six today?
- 54:38Speaker 5: You know, like Tip's there, he's America's guest.
- 54:41Speaker 3: He's there every single year.
- 54:42Speaker 12: You know.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Well it's funny. So we were at some lunch and
- 54:45Speaker 2: and I hadn't gave him my speech yet. But but
- 54:49Speaker 2: tip is in and he's just talking to me relaxed
- 54:51Speaker 2: because he don't have, you know, the pressures of you know,
- 54:54Speaker 2: that Saturday coming, and I'm just kind of I'm talking
- 54:57Speaker 2: to him, but I'm kind of thinking about, well, no,
- 54:59Speaker 2: I should say this versus Dad. So like I could
- 55:02Speaker 2: just tell all the pressure was off of him and
- 55:04Speaker 2: for me, you know, he's just got a lot, a
- 55:07Speaker 2: lot of moving parts and a lot going on. But
- 55:10Speaker 2: like I said, I look forward to going and enjoying
- 55:15Speaker 2: everyone else's party on that Saturday and what you know.
- 55:19Speaker 2: So I just think, you know, personally, you know, it's
- 55:22Speaker 2: a tremendous honor, and you know, I'm glad to be
- 55:25Speaker 2: have this a red and a gold jacket.
- 55:28Speaker 14: The one thing that Tippet said, Sorry, Paul, just one thing.
- 55:31Speaker 14: The one thing that Tippet said. And I think this
- 55:32Speaker 14: seems like it's new, and I thought that this was cool.
- 55:35Speaker 14: Is that somehow, some way that there's some unwritten rule
- 55:39Speaker 14: that the guys who weren't inducted but are there, they
- 55:42Speaker 14: make it a point to go to everybody's party, whether
- 55:46Speaker 14: they're there for five minutes or an hour. But like
- 55:49Speaker 14: I saw Terrell Davis there, you know, I saw I
- 55:51Speaker 14: saw a bunch of guys that I'd say, well, I'm
- 55:53Speaker 14: surprised that they were. I mean, he's a Georgia guy,
- 55:56Speaker 14: so maybe a bad example, but that there were guys.
- 56:00Speaker 2: He came to the party.
- 56:01Speaker 14: An't know, but somebody said, no, that's their responsibility. It's
- 56:05Speaker 14: their responsibility to go and welcome these guys, like you
- 56:09Speaker 14: know what you are in the fraternity right and welcome
- 56:12Speaker 14: and it's a way of that sort of unique groups.
- 56:15Speaker 5: And I thought that was really cool.
- 56:16Speaker 6: Richard.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it is, well, and it's not only cool
- 56:19Speaker 2: for us, but even also think about your family when
- 56:23Speaker 2: because EMMITTT Smith came to our party on Friday night,
- 56:26Speaker 2: Like a lot of my family grew up watching Emmitt
- 56:30Speaker 2: and for him to come in he had his goal
- 56:32Speaker 2: jacket on, you know, Warren Sapp, you know, Charles Woodson,
- 56:36Speaker 2: like all of these guys coming in. For your family
- 56:39Speaker 2: to see these guys and your granddad and or you
- 56:43Speaker 2: know whoever is there to also experience what that's like
- 56:47Speaker 2: and getting autographed and taking pictures, you know, it's just
- 56:50Speaker 2: a really special weekend. And what I will say is
- 56:54Speaker 2: all of the guys that are there the other Hall
- 56:56Speaker 2: of Famers, They do a really good job of welcoming
- 56:59Speaker 2: in the new class and making you feel like you
- 57:03Speaker 2: belong with them. And I think that's really the special
- 57:07Speaker 2: cool part. And they're asking you your opinions on you know,
- 57:11Speaker 2: what's next, and you haven't Mike, Mike Singletary talk to
- 57:15Speaker 2: you about YadA YadA, you know. So it's just a
- 57:17Speaker 2: really special, cool, unique moment, and you know, I'm excited
- 57:22Speaker 2: to get the ring here tonight.
- 57:24Speaker 6: Is there is there a players you know, you just
- 57:27Speaker 6: ran off a whole bunch of names and you said,
- 57:29Speaker 6: how you really, you know, you respected those that came
- 57:31Speaker 6: before you. Was there a guy or some players that
- 57:34Speaker 6: made you sort of step back and say, that's Mike Singletary. Yeah,
- 57:38Speaker 6: well I got it, kind of like stops in your tracks,
- 57:40Speaker 6: the way Matt and I would be just you know,
- 57:42Speaker 6: with all of you guys.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Yeah. No, Well, we were sitting in like they do
- 57:46Speaker 2: a luncheon where it's no media, it's no no one's
- 57:50Speaker 2: in there, it's just the Hall of Famers. I think
- 57:51Speaker 2: it's the Raydnichki luncheon. And we're sitting there and he's
- 57:56Speaker 2: a little older now, but Jim Brown came in. You know,
- 58:00Speaker 2: he was in a wheelchair, but he sat at the
- 58:02Speaker 2: table and even the respect that he garnered from the
- 58:06Speaker 2: other Hall of famers that were there, and for me
- 58:10Speaker 2: also personally, you know, being a defensive lineman when you're
- 58:16Speaker 2: there with obviously Tip, you're there with Lawrence Taylor. You know,
- 58:22Speaker 2: obviously he's passing going. But you know, you think about
- 58:24Speaker 2: Reggie White, what he meant, like all of these guys
- 58:27Speaker 2: are just, you know, phenomenal, world class players and you know,
- 58:33Speaker 2: just to sit and you know, share stories, you know
- 58:38Speaker 2: with a lot of those guys. I mean, it's just,
- 58:41Speaker 2: you know, it's a lifetime achievement award.
- 58:43Speaker 14: Honestly, we're sitting you're talking with Richard Seymour and our
- 58:46Speaker 14: Pats from the Past podcast.
- 58:47Speaker 7: And.
- 58:49Speaker 5: It seems like maybe that.
- 58:52Speaker 14: That aura or that euphoria, and it certainly helps by
- 58:55Speaker 14: the fact that you're being honored. You know, as you're
- 58:57Speaker 14: taping this tonight at halftime of the Bears game, it's
- 59:00Speaker 14: still sort of fresh. Is that fair to say that
- 59:03Speaker 14: feeling it?
- 59:04Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 59:04Speaker 2: Well, here's the other part, Like, I mean, we all
- 59:07Speaker 2: know how hard it is to get into the Pro
- 59:10Speaker 2: Football Hall of fame. But then when you think about it,
- 59:14Speaker 2: you know a lot of guys get in they're sixty, seventy,
- 59:18Speaker 2: you know, some eighty year old you know, and plus.
- 59:20Speaker 2: But you know, the blessing in it for me is
- 59:22Speaker 2: I get to have this gold jacket and you know,
- 59:25Speaker 2: absolutely forty two years old, and still you know, my
- 59:30Speaker 2: kids they understand what it means, and you know, so
- 59:34Speaker 2: I just think that's the that's the special part about
- 59:36Speaker 2: it is I get to experience and live with it.
- 59:39Speaker 2: And you know, it's no different than like when I
- 59:41Speaker 2: was younger. You know, I had a wife and kids,
- 59:45Speaker 2: but they were also able to experience my playing days.
- 59:48Speaker 2: So even now that they're older, like they've seen it.
- 59:51Speaker 2: They've been there. They were on the field pre game
- 59:53Speaker 2: or halftime or you know, whenever. So it's not like
- 59:56Speaker 2: I have to tell them about what their dad used
- 59:59Speaker 2: to do or what ever. You know that that you
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: it's a big part of who you are now. But
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: you know, for them to experience it themselves, I think,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: you know, it's an everlasting memory to.
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: Talk about some of those.
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: And now great moments in.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: History. That's good nachos. The steak, though at ordering one
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: pound hamburgers, and I.
- 1:00:23Speaker 10: Don't do that.
- 1:00:24Speaker 12: Fat, What are you doing?
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: It's not like here's what you don't even that.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: It's not like I asked them to make me a
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: one pound burger. It's on the menu.
- 1:00:31Speaker 10: Yeah, you don't have to order it.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: But the funny mean other people order or they wouldn't
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: have the menu.
- 1:00:36Speaker 10: The funny thing is, though this was the last day.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: One pound chicken, one pound hamburger, or a whole chicken, right.
- 1:00:42Speaker 10: The funny thing is this was the last day. So
- 1:00:44Speaker 10: we were starting to feel fat. So we had gone
- 1:00:46Speaker 10: to the gym.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: So when I could see YouTube ladies walking around in so.
- 1:00:49Speaker 10: It does my butt look bigger than you know when
- 1:00:52Speaker 10: you go out to eat and you stuffed yourself for
- 1:00:54Speaker 10: four days straight. So we started to go into the
- 1:00:57Speaker 10: So it was the last night and he's we're walking
- 1:00:59Speaker 10: and he's like, take it easy tonight, you.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Go because we had a seven o'clock flight and I'm like,
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: you know, I don't.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Want to have any explosions on a little airplane.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: And I had That's another great moment from.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Yes the great Andy Hart one pound burger.
- 1:01:17Speaker 6: Holy there, I just love like, all of a sudden,
- 1:01:22Speaker 6: it's read and I just one of the rare times
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: that I just sat it out let them go.
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: Were you with that combine?
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: I wasn't at that combine. Evidently there was a time
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: too that we sort of split it up, like one
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: group will go earlier in the week and we would
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: go later in the week. But sounds like I wasn't
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: that that.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: One that was two thousand and six.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: Yeah, they're all blind together.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: Yeah, Lawrence Maroney and Chad Jackson draft.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: All right, eight five five pasts five hundred. Is the
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: Patriots Unfiltered Hotline podcast at patriots dot com. Is the
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: email address. By the way, if you want to sign
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: up for the Patriots Unfiltered newsletter, you can do so
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: by going to Patriots dot com slash pu newsletter and
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: you can get the great newsletter that Alex Francisco edits
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: and we all contribute to.
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: Fred. I want to tell you that one of our
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: topics that made it into the newsletter last last week,
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: you know, our how'd you put it over the top
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: rope or through the gate through the front door.
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: Yeah, so.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: That was Thursday show. Thursday night. I had the opportunity
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: again to extend my library tour. Yeah, I spoke at
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: the North Reading Library.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: It was great. Where he's going.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: So they don't pay him, they don't pay him for
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: these things, but they give him a library card for life.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: So just if you can go to any library take
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: out a book. I was paid, You were paid paid,
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: So you're taking money from correct.
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: Correct.
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: So I had a gentleman come up to me after
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: the show and just said, hey, listen, I just wanted
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: to let you know Fred is not alone. I'm gonna
- 1:03:03Speaker 6: through the gate guy too.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Yeah. No, we've had a lot of emails. I didn't
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: want to get to it, you know, because we've got
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: the combine. If I start the show off talking about
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: how we go to the bathroom, I think some people
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: might object.
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: But but but he said, that's exactly when he goes
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: Fred's not alone. I'm gonna through the gate guy too.
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: And I just looked at it. I said, what are
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: you talking? And he goes from the show today, and
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: I was like, oh my god, Like I had no
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: idea what he was talking about.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: We get a lot of opinions on both sides of
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: the Ledger coming in on that. Maybe we'll get to
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: that Thursday.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: All right, we'll save my take for Thursday.
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: Well, yeah, I mean being someone that wasn't on the show,
- 1:03:37Speaker 8: and then reading that in the newsletter, I was like,
- 1:03:39Speaker 8: what were they talking about when we weren't there?
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: You know, everyone's like, I don't know. Today realized that
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: this mumble guy just ran like a like the combine.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: What are they doing? I'm trying to process these guys
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: and they're going to the bathroom.
- 1:03:53Speaker 6: The other revelation I had Freddie was Sunday night, you know,
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: sitting around watching some college basketball games, and I'm scrolling
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: through my phone and this is in the aftermath of
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: the The Unfortunate thirty two and five eighths arm leanth
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: and you know, my slack notifications come in and as
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: Evan Lazare take on Will Campbell and what it means
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: and let me read that. And I started reading it.
- 1:04:19Speaker 6: I'm like, oh my god, poor Evan.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I like I had like.
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: Visions of him just in a dark room by himself. Yes,
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: I can't, I can't talk now, I can't. I'm not ready.
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: I can't do this. I can't do this now. I'm
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: not ready.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: We had two thousand and seven Super Bowl. He's got
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: the Will Ramble army.
- 1:04:38Speaker 6: I was worried about Evan. I'm worried about I read
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: his recap of that and I didn't you know what,
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: I got like into it and I was like, I
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: can't even read this anymore. It's making me depressed. Yeah,
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: I had to stop.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: He said he might skip the first round. He might
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: not come in.
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: That's unprecedented. Even Eric never skipped the entirety of the
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: first round.
- 1:04:57Speaker 8: I might I suggest the clock right now, like, I mean,
- 1:05:00Speaker 8: we can default it next year.
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: That he's a picking and stick it guy. He's looking
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: to move down.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, eight five to five past five hundred
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: is the hotline. Let's go to Patty, who's been holding
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: on for quite a long time. What's up, Patty?
- 1:05:14Speaker 11: What's up, gentlemen? How you doing this afternoon?
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: Good?
- 1:05:19Speaker 11: So I got a big one. It's scenario for you guys,
- 1:05:23Speaker 11: and it's regarding the draft. So let's just say that
- 1:05:27Speaker 11: have duel. Carter and Travis Hunter are number one and two,
- 1:05:30Speaker 11: throwman whatever order you want on the Patriots board, and
- 1:05:34Speaker 11: one of them comes off the board first. With Tennessee
- 1:05:37Speaker 11: the giant they signed Donald, They signed like a Heinekey
- 1:05:41Speaker 11: or Jacoby Versett to back them up.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:05:44Speaker 11: They signed Donald with the attention of him starting. Now
- 1:05:47Speaker 11: we know Rabel spent last year in Cleveland, so we
- 1:05:49Speaker 11: know he's made some pretty good connections there, networks there.
- 1:05:53Speaker 11: Would it be crazy to think that we could package
- 1:05:55Speaker 11: maybe like our first third round pick, maybe a future asset,
- 1:06:00Speaker 11: move up to number two to get one of those guys.
- 1:06:02Speaker 11: And the last thing I'll say is, PAULI, I know
- 1:06:05Speaker 11: you like Dayden Higgins. I'm a nole guy, but if
- 1:06:09Speaker 11: we go wide receiver with the second pick, I'd be
- 1:06:11Speaker 11: happy with either one of those guys.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: Talk to you later, Okay, thanks. What do you think
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: about that moving up?
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: I mean, probably not gonna happen. I just I don't
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: think it's as crazy though. I mean, there's like just
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: a little part of me that's willing to entertain that
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: because I do think those two guys are so uniquely
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: talented and are so different after they're After they're gone,
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: the draft is going to kind of change.
- 1:06:31Speaker 6: And can you move from four to two for a
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: third round pick?
- 1:06:36Speaker 8: That's what you're buying.
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: No thanks for sale. Now, I will say, the way
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: this draft is being talked about, there are two guys,
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: so you might be able to make an argument that
- 1:06:51Speaker 6: you could get it for less because the draft is weak.
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: But if it's really only those two guys, right, why
- 1:06:56Speaker 6: am I maybe that drives the price out.
- 1:06:58Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm always wearing trading up for a non quarterback,
- 1:07:03Speaker 8: Like I don't. I don't really think that that players
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: tends to be worth all that. But I mean the
- 1:07:09Speaker 8: Texans did it a couple of years ago for for
- 1:07:12Speaker 8: the past Rusher. I'm breaking on his name right now. Yeah,
- 1:07:14Speaker 8: well Anderson, that worked out so well.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: I mean, listen, there's been a plenty of people taken
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: in the first round who would have been worth trading
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: up for you just at the time you didn't know it, right, Yeah,
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: you know that's the key. You knew beforehand, right you would.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Eddie's in l A, Hey, Eddie, Eddie. Eddie is gone.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: All right, We're gonna go to Providence. Randy's there, what's up? Randy?
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: Hey?
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: Guys.
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: So, I mean this draft class overall kind of all
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: the players have like one major flaw, right, and and
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: to that end, just thoughts on two players, and then
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: I want to get you guys' reaction. Uh, Number one,
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: Will Campbell, I think you guys are drafted understanding how
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: much of an outlier he is, not just his arm length,
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: but obviously contributes to that his wingspan and he's got
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: narrow shoulders. They said his wingspan is seventy seven and like,
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: I think it's a half or five eights. Hasn't been
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: seen since nineteen ninety nine, at least they just stopped
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: looking at that point. So he's a he's a wild
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: outlier of that aspect.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: This guy sounds deformed. And from the way everyone's talking
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: about him right now, yeah.
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and then Tetero and McMillan too. I've heard
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: a little bit of talk about him, the Patriots being
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: interested in him, and I mean, he sounds good. He's
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: six five thirteen hundred yards and I started looking into it,
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: and you realize thirty eight percent of those yards, five
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: hundred and six of them came in two games, one
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: against New Mexico one against West Virginia not exactly high
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: caliber pass defenses, and five of his eight touchdowns came
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: to those two same two games. The only time he
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: played an NFL caliber cornerback talent was called Roto Traviath Hunter.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: He has five receptions for thirty eight yards and no touchdowns.
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: So if you take out those two really good games,
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: you're talking about a receiver with ten games, eight and
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: thirteen yards, three touchdowns, and an average of twelve point
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: seven yards per reception for a six or five guy
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: in that league where he's not playing he's not in
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: the SEC.
- 1:09:22Speaker 6: You know, he's also the worst team in the league
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: a lot more than that.
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: But he's got a good quarterback and a good offensive
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: line in front of that quarterback. The worst part of
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: that team is that he's played with that quarterback since
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: high school.
- 1:09:33Speaker 6: Yeah, quarterbacks, Jonas, Yeah, I don't think they're very good.
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: I disagree. I don't like McMillan because he doesn't run
- 1:09:41Speaker 6: all that well. You guys know me. I'm a I'm
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: a speedist.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: I want elite athleticism, especially for outside guys. I don't
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: love him, but I don't like the whole take these
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: two games out thing, because I think if you look
- 1:09:54Speaker 6: at most teams, it's football is a short sample by nature,
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: it's only sixteen games. In college it's even less. So
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: stats are sort of driven by incredible performances in individual times, Like,
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: if you do that, you have to do that for everybody.
- 1:10:13Speaker 6: You have to take out the best and worst for
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: all all of the things.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: Well, not if the best is against the best teams.
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: But what I'm saying is not everybody averages one hundred
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: and ten yards per game, and they get actually one
- 1:10:24Speaker 6: hundred and ten yards every game. Some of them get
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: three hundred and one game and fifteen another. Like that's
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: the way it works.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: But you do have to look at who the competition.
- 1:10:32Speaker 6: I don't I think Randy's point on McMillan is is accurate.
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: I don't think he's quote unquote that good. And I
- 1:10:39Speaker 6: think that the league is telling you that they feel
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: the same way. They're intrigued by the size. But the
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: more you're hearing, the further down the first round, he
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: seems to be falling.
- 1:10:49Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I think we we said we understand
- 1:10:52Speaker 8: Will Campbell. I'm like depressed over here about it.
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: We're understating it.
- 1:10:56Speaker 8: They I don't know, and I agree with them. I've
- 1:10:59Speaker 8: been saying not about tech McMillan before the combine, and
- 1:11:02Speaker 8: we'll worry me about Tech macmillan even more is that
- 1:11:04Speaker 8: he was afraid to run at the combine, which tells
- 1:11:07Speaker 8: me that he probably runs.
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: Like one guy say that that means he's in the
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: four seventiesh Yeah, like if he.
- 1:11:12Speaker 8: Was going to run, well, he would have ran. So
- 1:11:14Speaker 8: now we're going to go to the stop watches at
- 1:11:16Speaker 8: his pro day and you know who hell knows.
- 1:11:18Speaker 6: If that's was my theory on Will Campbell's arms. Yeah,
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: you know, when we were talking last Thursday, I said
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: to Fred, you know, don't don't you think we'd know
- 1:11:25Speaker 6: that he has long enough arms. If he had long
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: enough arms, I don't think it would be this mystery
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: heading into the combine. We'd all know. Yeah.
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: I kind of feel with McMillan, guy like Genty, like
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: they're specific players for specific teams at specific times. Like
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: I don't know why Houston just popped into my mind,
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: but like, you know, a team that has some in
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: theory inside threats and Eco Collins, but you know, get
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: a guy like McMillan, ware, Look, he doesn't need to
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: stretch the field. We just need a big body guy
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: on the outside that can contribute to what we already have.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: You know, same thing with Genty, where I feel like,
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: you know, we got some pieces on offense, this guy
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: can put us over the top. Whereas a team like
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: the Patriots, where you're really trying to find those foundational pieces.
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: It's hard to take those ones that.
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: Are such specific, like Janty could have been a good
- 1:12:06Speaker 6: pick for like say Philadelphia if they didn't get Barkley
- 1:12:10Speaker 6: last year, Like you look at the impact like an improvement,
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: Like they obviously had a good offense with DeAndre Swift,
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: but Barkley's better than him, and it showed, and they
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: had a great offense with Barkley, you know, and I
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: think that would have made sense, you know, last year. Yeah,
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: for Genta.
- 1:12:28Speaker 8: If you want to sell yourself on TEP McMillan, his
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: game against Colorado and twenty twenty three is the game
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: that everybody props up. He had a decent game against
- 1:12:36Speaker 8: Travis Hunter, the one that he actually played this year.
- 1:12:39Speaker 8: Travis Hunter was hurt and he didn't play a lot
- 1:12:41Speaker 8: of defense in that game. I think he only played
- 1:12:43Speaker 8: like something like ten or fifteen snaps on defense. So
- 1:12:45Speaker 8: they actually didn't face each other a whole lot this
- 1:12:48Speaker 8: past year. So two years ago in twenty three, McMillan
- 1:12:52Speaker 8: made like a one handed catch in the end zone
- 1:12:53Speaker 8: on Travis Hunter. That is like the highlight of his
- 1:12:56Speaker 8: Arizona career.
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: That's the stuff that worries me about McMillan more. It's
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: that whole PTSD I have from Aaron Dobson, Like that's
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: what I see more often than not when McMillan's making plays.
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: It's that kind of it's not like, oh did you
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: see that that route that he just ran? You know,
- 1:13:11Speaker 6: he put his foot in the ground and stuck the
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: you know, the inside. You know, he's really he's he's
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: contested catches. Actually, he's find good contested like he's he's good. Yeah,
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: I just don't know if he's great.
- 1:13:24Speaker 8: I actually think that he can run routes pretty well
- 1:13:27Speaker 8: at the second level, Like his start stopability at his
- 1:13:30Speaker 8: size is probably like my favorite trade of his, uh
- 1:13:33Speaker 8: you know, come back or stop routes in cuts like
- 1:13:37Speaker 8: but mostly at like that intermediate level. Like he's a
- 1:13:39Speaker 8: big possession receiver.
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: If you've heard a lot of people talk about Drake
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: London with him, if that's what he is, that's a
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: that's a good NFL player. Now I don't know that
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: Drake London was worthy of of a top ten pick, yeah,
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: but he's a good player. And if McMillan turns out
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: to be that I think the team that drafts them
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: will be happy Wills in Kentucky.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: Hey Will, all right, Hello, Yes, yes, I was gonna
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: ask you about what's going on over there? Who Andre Thornton?
- 1:14:15Speaker 8: Oh yeah really fast? Okay, fast guys? Draft fast?
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: Draft fast guys?
- 1:14:21Speaker 8: Yeah fast that fast? And whose barth likes to say, Okay.
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: What if you want strong guys? Bred?
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: Draft strong, don't draft week guys?
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: Interesting?
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: All right, so we'll we'll we have some drop. I
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: don't know what's going on. Yeah, the squeaky wheel.
- 1:14:38Speaker 8: I know you we all like speed. He's one of
- 1:14:42Speaker 8: those guys that you start asking yourself, like, what else
- 1:14:45Speaker 8: is he good at?
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:14:46Speaker 6: Yeah, I speed just for the sake of speed, you can.
- 1:14:49Speaker 8: Clearly run, you know. That's he's you know, had a
- 1:14:52Speaker 8: great combine.
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: But I mean, from my perspective, when I say I
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: want speed, I don't mind if it comes at the
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: price of like you know, that's I'm okay. The guy
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: like Isaiah Bond, you know, a little smaller, like I
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: just need somebody with some juice.
- 1:15:07Speaker 8: Well, what I like about Isaiah bon is that he's compact,
- 1:15:10Speaker 8: like he's not Thornton small, where he's tall and in
- 1:15:13Speaker 8: length that he's he's more like Jayleen Wattle, you know,
- 1:15:18Speaker 8: like where he's like a compact smaller. He's big, beads slot.
- 1:15:23Speaker 6: But I would say that's that's a good off. Like
- 1:15:26Speaker 6: Jaylen Waddle, he's big enough.
- 1:15:27Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:15:28Speaker 6: I go back to like my couple of guys, Christian
- 1:15:31Speaker 6: Kirk and Brandon Cooks. I liked both of those guys
- 1:15:34Speaker 6: a lot coming out of college. Smaller guys that could
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: really run, but they had some thickness.
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: Yeah, can take some time.
- 1:15:42Speaker 8: That's how I would say.
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: Bond is yeah, James is not.
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: And fifty pounds North Carolina?
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: What's up, Jimmy? All right?
- 1:15:54Speaker 7: So I had an outside thought for you. Is there
- 1:16:00Speaker 7: anybody that you could think that we could take off
- 1:16:03Speaker 7: the board and use immediately as an asset to trade away.
- 1:16:09Speaker 7: As an example, take Jant and and not that you
- 1:16:13Speaker 7: would get them for this price, but take Jant because
- 1:16:17Speaker 7: you know the Cowboys won them, and trade that off
- 1:16:20Speaker 7: for in a package for CD.
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: For who CD lamb.
- 1:16:26Speaker 6: No, you couldn't do that.
- 1:16:28Speaker 7: No, not specifically CD.
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: That's just an example, but nothing of any comparable value.
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: You're not going to trade a rookie that you took
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: in the draft for an established star.
- 1:16:41Speaker 7: I get that because somebody that you know a team
- 1:16:44Speaker 7: is targeting a particular piece you know they need.
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: Well, if you were doing to do that, why I
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: just want to, you know, defend James a little bit.
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: Why is it so incredible? Like, so you take a player,
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: let's just say you take Will Campbell and there's somebody
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: else on another team that you know didn't have an
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: option to pick them because they're lower in the draft,
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: but they have a player you like, and.
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: Oh, well that's different.
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: Yeah, a player I like.
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I can listen to that. It's like trading I'm
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: going to trade Micah Parsons for a first round pick, right,
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: But that's that's like I don't want Micah Parsons anymore,
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: so I'm trading him for a first round pick. Ceedee
- 1:17:25Speaker 6: Lamb is like the centerpiece of the Cowboys offense, right,
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: and they just signed him to a long term extension.
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: But it's going to cost you more than the fourth
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: pick of the draft, is my point.
- 1:17:34Speaker 8: But you're selling. You're selling the pick though, right like
- 1:17:36Speaker 8: you wouldn't, Yes, you wouldn't draft the player and then
- 1:17:40Speaker 8: trade the player. The Cowboys would call and say we
- 1:17:43Speaker 8: want the fourth overall pick, so we can draft Jess.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: So instead of a pick swap and something else you're drafting,
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: you're trading for a player.
- 1:17:50Speaker 8: Right, So the Patriots would say, Okay, we don't actually
- 1:17:53Speaker 8: want I think they're at twelve. We don't actually want
- 1:17:55Speaker 8: your pick. We want Micah Parsons. Now, I'm not saying
- 1:17:58Speaker 8: that's going to happen.
- 1:17:58Speaker 6: I'm just and I get what you just saying. Now.
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: I thought you meant at first specifically ce d Lamb,
- 1:18:03Speaker 6: but you're just talking about a trade. Yeah, yeah, And
- 1:18:06Speaker 6: I think you do trade establish players for draft picks
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: at times, but players that you don't want or that
- 1:18:11Speaker 6: you can't sign, Yeah, like ye, And that's you know,
- 1:18:15Speaker 6: my whole theory on free agents that you let go
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: generally guys that you're comfortable letting go.
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: All right, thanks James not you know. I like the
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: out of the box thinking. Yeah, yeah, it was different,
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: uh Reno and Knoxville Tennessee rights. And I really wish
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: they'd get rid of the fat franchise tag. The only
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: people who like it are owners and gms. I think
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: it ruins free agency. Been saying it for years before
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: anyone gets snarky. I hated when the Patriots use the
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: tag as well. Players hate it and fans hate it.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: Do you think they'll ever get rid of it?
- 1:18:47Speaker 6: No, I'm one with him, though I agree totally with
- 1:18:51Speaker 6: the emailer. I think it's another and a long line
- 1:18:55Speaker 6: of how the players get completely abused by the owner.
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: But there's been some players who like Wasn't and Kirk
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Cousins the king of the franchise tag.
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: Higgins is benefiting from it right now.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I mean, you gotta remember the elements
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: of the franchise tag were negotiated between the league and
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: the players Association.
- 1:19:15Speaker 8: Yeah, but the Players Association loses those negotiations every time. Yeah.
- 1:19:19Speaker 8: I just think that the franchise tag to if you're
- 1:19:23Speaker 8: the pitch to the owners, if I was the players,
- 1:19:26Speaker 8: was if you want our free agency to truly be
- 1:19:30Speaker 8: like the NBA or the MLB, where it's like a
- 1:19:32Speaker 8: hot stove and there's actually real movement that they you
- 1:19:37Speaker 8: could make. They make it into a spectacle anyways, but
- 1:19:40Speaker 8: it would be a real spectacle if everybody hits free
- 1:19:43Speaker 8: agency and you you know, T Higgins was going to
- 1:19:45Speaker 8: be a free agent and Tray Smith was going to
- 1:19:47Speaker 8: be a free agent, and Ronnie Stanley was going to
- 1:19:49Speaker 8: be a free agent, and like right on down the line.
- 1:19:51Speaker 8: Now you're actually having some real players move.
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: But see, the thing is, we're looking at this right
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: now from the current Patriots perspective. The fact that right
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: now the salary cap going up allows teams to re
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: sign more of their players. I think, isn't that a
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: good thing? Like, isn't it good if you're a fan
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: of a team and your team's doing well and you
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: have to keep those players to keep that, you know,
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: continuity with your fandom and the players on the team.
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: You know, we'll we hate it now because we don't
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: have those players. But if we were, you know, the
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: Eagles are one of these teams at the top, we'd
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: be like, great, you know, now we can re sign
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: more of our guys and keep the band together.
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:20:31Speaker 8: But I would just say that on the flip side
- 1:20:33Speaker 8: of that is like the NBA, which right now is
- 1:20:35Speaker 8: the king of player movement. Sure, and they're they're the
- 1:20:38Speaker 8: number one story super Bowl Week because Luka Doncics just
- 1:20:41Speaker 8: got traded from the match to the Lakers.
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: Oh, I get it, and stuff like that.
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: It's always excited, but the players don't like it. Yeah,
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: I mean that's pretty simple.
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: The players don't like the franchise tag, right.
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: You know, and the the NBA to use evans. The
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: the comp is the bird rights. So the player has
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: the choice. I can take more to stay with my
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: team if I want to, but I still have the
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: ability to be a free agent if I want to leave. Yeah,
- 1:21:07Speaker 6: that's player power. Now, you could argue that the NBA
- 1:21:11Speaker 6: players have too much. You know, so many guys make
- 1:21:15Speaker 6: so much money in that league that, in my opinion,
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: can't play in the end of The NFL was filled
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: with really, really good players that would kill for an
- 1:21:23Speaker 6: NBA salary.
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: It's gonna be one of the biggest bargaining chips that
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: the NFL PA would go after trying to get to
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: eighteen games. I mean, like if they try to get
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: it into the negotiation, it's.
- 1:21:32Speaker 6: I think they worry so much about things that don't matter,
- 1:21:35Speaker 6: like you know, ota practices and stuff like that. You
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: know that ends up kind of not big nothing burgers.
- 1:21:42Speaker 6: They're like the epitome of the Seinfeld episode with Jackie Childs,
- 1:21:46Speaker 6: and it's like, you know, we're gonna get this, We're
- 1:21:48Speaker 6: gonna get this. We're gonna get this. You know, we're
- 1:21:49Speaker 6: gonna give you a free coffee. That's the NBA players
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: in the NFL players.
- 1:21:56Speaker 8: I just feel like it's disappointing for fans. And maybe
- 1:21:58Speaker 8: Friend's right, Maybe some of it's because we're in the
- 1:22:01Speaker 8: position that we're in here, but it's disappointed to fans
- 1:22:03Speaker 8: when you get to free agency and like Cam Robinson
- 1:22:07Speaker 8: is like the best tackle available and there's really no
- 1:22:10Speaker 8: receivers available, and there's it's just not as fun, Like
- 1:22:13Speaker 8: it would be way more fun if this was like
- 1:22:15Speaker 8: an actual time where you could sign, you know, in
- 1:22:18Speaker 8: the NBA every offseason, some you know, megastar is moving
- 1:22:22Speaker 8: teams like that is more exciting.
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: I see both sides. Jeremiah writes in and I don't
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: know if this is true or not, but he said
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: Davante Adams just got released.
- 1:22:31Speaker 6: By that it's true.
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: He said, how would you rank him among the current
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: wide receivers in the league that are available. I don't know,
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: he question.
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: I'd probably say somewhere in the like seven, eight, nine
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: to twelve territory somewhere there.
- 1:22:50Speaker 6: Maybe I was gonna say I was going to say
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: top twenty, but.
- 1:22:53Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I mean, he's not what he was a
- 1:22:56Speaker 8: couple of years ago, but he.
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: He still had a pretty good year even though that
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: they were so dysfunctional with the Jets.
- 1:23:03Speaker 5: Do you think he's still on the Aaron Rodgers train? Like,
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: that's my question is does he really want to stick
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: with Aaron Rodgers or would he be open to something?
- 1:23:09Speaker 6: I think I think there's probably a good chance that
- 1:23:12Speaker 6: he sticks with Aaron Rodgers wherever he goes if Rogers plays,
- 1:23:14Speaker 6: because I think that's still in doubt.
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: What do you know about his relationship with Josh mc Yeah,
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: I think that's the one thing.
- 1:23:20Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I read today that there's no problems with
- 1:23:23Speaker 6: that relationship. I read in the Boston Sports Journal that
- 1:23:27Speaker 6: was more of a problem with the quarterbacks, according to
- 1:23:29Speaker 6: Greg Madaro.
- 1:23:31Speaker 8: Okay, car So, but you do wonder, just not people,
- 1:23:35Speaker 8: You do kind of wonder, you know, did he like Josh?
- 1:23:38Speaker 8: Is that you know? Do you like the offense? Doesn't
- 1:23:41Speaker 8: seem like it. Some of the public comments were a little.
- 1:23:43Speaker 6: Didn't seem like he was in love with that offense. Yeah,
- 1:23:45Speaker 6: I'd be very surprised if he chose the Patriots if
- 1:23:48Speaker 6: he had options.
- 1:23:50Speaker 8: Yeah, I do think the Patriots will be interested.
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: They should be They should Yeah, don't you guys think, yeah, yeah, yes, yes,
- 1:23:55Speaker 6: they should be interested. I still they can bring in Adams,
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: That's that's an upgrade.
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: I still can't forget watching him in those in the
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: joint practices out in Vegas few years ago, and I
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: was just man among boys, well watching you know, watching
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: the Patriots over that time period, and you know, there
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: was never really a number one. I haven't really seen
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: a number one receiver in camp. And then to see
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: him going drills, I mean that was just one rep
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: that always stands out to me against Janeen Mills, Jayalen Mills,
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: they were even, and then they weren't even. You know,
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: it was just this gear where he even boom hammered down.
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, but just big moves.
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: Really well, I mean, I mean I'd be I'd be thrilled.
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: My son just sent me a text, you know, DeVante
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: Adams of the Pats question.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: It's funny face have like like all these side conversations
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: with family members about.
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: This, so you know, we're in the middle of a show.
- 1:24:40Speaker 6: I just go wait to see that, and he goes,
- 1:24:42Speaker 6: I didn't. I was just wondering. You think they'd sign him.
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: He's not listening.
- 1:24:45Speaker 8: He had eighty five catches, one sixty three yards and
- 1:24:51Speaker 8: eight touchdowns last year between the two teams. There's still,
- 1:24:54Speaker 8: you know, still a thousand yard receivers.
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: I'm saying he's still he's still productive.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: Need a movie.
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: And that's like, you know, some of the speculation of
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: like bringing Jacobe Myers back. Like I love Jacoby Myers,
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: but like we need somebody who can get outside.
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: And I know from a broken record, and I know
- 1:25:08Speaker 6: it's a me problem, and I understand. I just I
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: think the offense works so well the way that they
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: situated with the little slot receivers and the chain movers,
- 1:25:18Speaker 6: because Tom Brady was just perfection. I think that offense
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: needs perfection to succeed. I want playmakers that I don't
- 1:25:26Speaker 6: have to rely on completing nine passes in a row
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: to get eight first downs. You know, like.
- 1:25:33Speaker 8: DeVante Adams is one of the guys that said that,
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: and he said that about this offense that it's more
- 1:25:37Speaker 8: of like a dink and dunk, you know, maticulated down
- 1:25:40Speaker 8: the field type of mist.
- 1:25:41Speaker 6: So hard to do that with just anybody. Yeah, Brady,
- 1:25:45Speaker 6: it wasn't so hard for him because he had the
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: answers to the tests, as he famously told.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: Us Ellen Wisconsin's is Mike, I don't understand why you
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: think the Patriots are in no man's land. Didn't you
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: want to not be saddled with the number one?
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: Overall?
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: You should be thrilled?
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: Yeah, Mike, No, that's I think that's a good criticism
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: for Mel.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: I think she's it is.
- 1:26:05Speaker 6: Because because those of us that were like, it's not
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: that big a deal, it looks like a big.
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: Deal now, we were kind of wrong, right, I mean, well,
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: I thought I was talking to Evanon and I think
- 1:26:15Speaker 5: we were walking out yesterday.
- 1:26:17Speaker 6: It's it's you did you thought it was a big
- 1:26:19Speaker 6: deal at the time, Evan. I'll give your credit.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: There's an alternate reality.
- 1:26:22Speaker 6: I'm not being sarcastic. Mike and I were like, oh,
- 1:26:25Speaker 6: what's a big deal.
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: Now there's an alternate reality where we're actually spending the
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: next two months just debating Carter or Hunter and that's
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: pretty much all we're talking about for the last two months.
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: And I, yeah, you're right out. I kind of wish
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: we were there now.
- 1:26:36Speaker 8: It's the one advantage not always obnoxious about being a
- 1:26:40Speaker 8: draft nerd is like I was already into this in
- 1:26:42Speaker 8: like November, so I knew what they were giving up
- 1:26:45Speaker 8: by winning that game.
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: And guys like, two guys, you're outside the top two.
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: Jackie and Abba. Who's our Michigan correspondent says, take to
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: understanding Mason Graham is that he was a great high
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: school wrestler and he brings his wrestling techniques playing defensive tackle.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: Mason Graham does not have elite measurables, but he does
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: have elite balance, and his elite balance enables him to
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: play low more effectively than other defensive tackles. To appreciate
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: Mason Graham, one must watch his video. He's stone the
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: best offensive lineman from USC, Ohio State and Alabama. He
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: is a great defensive tackle and whatever team drafts him
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: is going to get a guy who will be a
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: star defensive tackle for a decade.
- 1:27:26Speaker 8: So I agree with ninety nine percent of the email
- 1:27:30Speaker 8: except one word star. I don't know if he's going
- 1:27:33Speaker 8: to be a star. I think he's going to be
- 1:27:35Speaker 8: a really good defensive tackle in the league for ten years.
- 1:27:38Speaker 8: I don't know if he's going to be elite. That's
- 1:27:41Speaker 8: the problem because he said it like he doesn't have
- 1:27:44Speaker 8: that athleticism. He doesn't have the size, he doesn't have
- 1:27:46Speaker 8: the measurables, so he's going to have to make up
- 1:27:49Speaker 8: for all of that with wrestling background.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: I would just say it's a good background to have.
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: Yeah, No, the wrestling thing is huge. I talk to
- 1:27:58Speaker 6: a million people about that and TJ you know, started wrestling.
- 1:28:01Speaker 6: I asked a lot of people about it from a
- 1:28:03Speaker 6: football perspective, from a lineman.
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: But we still have a single.
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: He does not have a singlet. Matter of fact, he
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: never had a singlet.
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: They wore shirts, shirts and uniform.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not how you wrestle.
- 1:28:13Speaker 6: It's not the required too much to grab on time.
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: They were like those you can't toy.
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: But you end up with those shorts on your knees.
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: If you wrestle in shorts, singlets go down to you
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: your knee, but they don't come apart. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: You can pull those shorts down.
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: Well that didn't happen.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: Yeah anyway, that's why you wear a singlet to piece,
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: you know, to.
- 1:28:38Speaker 6: Back Evan the star part of it, like the star
- 1:28:40Speaker 6: interior defense in lineman. That that's Chris Jones, that's Aaron Donald.
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: Like do you think he has that. I'm not saying
- 1:28:46Speaker 6: that he doesn't have that potential, but is that what
- 1:28:49Speaker 6: Jack is suggesting? Star? Because that's what a star means
- 1:28:52Speaker 6: to me, like Christian Barmore, love them meaning not a star.
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: Christian Barmore has not been a star, not your patriot,
- 1:29:00Speaker 6: not yet, not yet. Okay, my guess is at this
- 1:29:03Speaker 6: point it's not going to be a star, Like you
- 1:29:06Speaker 6: don't become star generally in year five.
- 1:29:09Speaker 7: No, but.
- 1:29:12Speaker 6: If that's what you think Mason Graham can be a star,
- 1:29:17Speaker 6: then you gotta think long and hard about taking him
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: at four.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29:20Speaker 6: I don't see that.
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: Yeah, me too.
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: I know I texted you guys, but No Socks reaction
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: to Mason Graham at the podium was was one of
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: the highlights of the whole common one of.
- 1:29:28Speaker 8: The best, and the fact that he was in Josina
- 1:29:30Speaker 8: Anderson's video reacting to.
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: Me, I don't know if I said to you so well,
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: I guess first the story was like we're it's all
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: gathered around Mason Graham, you know, No Socks is just
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: sitting there watching it, and uh, like the second he
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: walks down, the things like nope, I'm out. And so
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: I was kind of taking back. I was like, well,
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: you know, have you have you watched him play much?
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: Not a lick.
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: And so then later in the day jose and Anderson
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: puts out a tweet of like, you know, here's the
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: reaction to Mason Graham and it's literally like star framed
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: on no socks and then pans up. It was literally
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: the moment that was like, nope, no for me.
- 1:30:08Speaker 8: So Devanta Adams apparently wants to play on the West
- 1:30:11Speaker 8: coast all right, So that I just now like, I just.
- 1:30:16Speaker 6: Can't imagine he would say Patriots if he had options.
- 1:30:21Speaker 8: Chargers is a good call. That woudn't make a lot
- 1:30:23Speaker 8: of sense.
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: Chargers could see that Travis in West Virginia. I'm not
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: trying to make fun, but I'm perplexed by the way
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: Evan pronounces words like important, Curtin ritten, Milton Thornton. Uh,
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: that's how you say it. I've also noticed Alex f
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: doing the same thing, so I thought it was something
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: the younger generation does, but Bob Soci does it too.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: Is it a New England thing Bob does?
- 1:30:47Speaker 6: So used to say Cam Newton, Cam Newton, it's Cam Newton,
- 1:30:53Speaker 6: It's Cam Newton.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:30:55Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't notice it.
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: Obviously, I never noticed it with you and Alex. I
- 1:31:00Speaker 6: have to be honest.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: Certain certain, yeah, certain, certain, Certain you don't pronounce the t.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: You you don't pronounce the t.
- 1:31:10Speaker 6: But certain does anybody really well?
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: But some people that you can notice it more? And
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: I would say Evan, Bob Soci, I would put in
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: that group. I have an ear for voice and articulation
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: and diction that you do Los Angeles, well, I went
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: to Emerson, So everybody has to take that. Yeah, uh
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: spiin Fresno writes in if you pick a guy at
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: four who's not really a number four pick, is the
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: disappointment more about the missed opportunity when picking high you
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: didn't get the talent you hoped for, or about now
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: being saddled with an overdrafted player you're stuck with the guy.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: I'm sure it's both, but I guess it's more about
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: the missed opportunity, given that access to high picks is limited,
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: for instance, what's strange The missed opportunity to pick a
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: more valuable player seems more annoying than the seeming obligation
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: to give Strange a roster spot. Because he's affordable on
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: a rookie contract.
- 1:32:10Speaker 6: I think it's a not B.
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: I like how he's thinking, though, and I'd go back
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: to just the point of there will be a guy
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: in this draft that should have gone forth overall, and
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: it puts more pressure on the front office staff to
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: find him. But to me, the question is what position
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: is worth overdrafting? You know, is if Will Campbell ends
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: up a left guard, is it worth it? You know,
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: if Membo ends up your right tackle for ten years?
- 1:32:34Speaker 5: Is it worth it? If you know, if Tyler Warren
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: ends up being a plus tight end for the next
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: ten years.
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: Bring it up. We haven't talked about him.
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: Is Ashton genty If he holds up for ten years
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: and is an all round, dynamic, home run hitting back,
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: is he worth it at fourth overall? You know those
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: are or will Will like Johnson the cornerback.
- 1:32:53Speaker 6: Let's go back to that that twenty thirteen draft. And
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: this is why I say it's a not B. It's
- 1:32:59Speaker 6: not like stuck with this this guy. If the guy's
- 1:33:01Speaker 6: not good, then he's not good. You get rid of
- 1:33:03Speaker 6: them whatever. There's no ramifications of that other than it
- 1:33:08Speaker 6: blew a pick like that stinks like you don't want
- 1:33:10Speaker 6: to do that. But in twenty thirteen, yes, there's gonna
- 1:33:15Speaker 6: be someone that should have been taken forth overall that
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: would have been worthy of that pick. But there's a
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: difference between if you pick somebody at four who turns
- 1:33:22Speaker 6: out to be a bust and then the sixth pick
- 1:33:25Speaker 6: ends up being an All pro that you gonna that's
- 1:33:28Speaker 6: gonna haunt you. I missed him. If it's like twenty
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: thirteen and the next good player is like twenty seven
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: at DeAndre Hopkins, well, like the whole league didn't look
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: at him that way either, you know, And I wouldn't
- 1:33:42Speaker 6: look at that any differently than like, well you could
- 1:33:45Speaker 6: have had Terry McLaurin instead of Nikhil Harry, Like yeah,
- 1:33:49Speaker 6: two rounds later, no one else thought McLaurin was going
- 1:33:52Speaker 6: to be as good as he is either. You know,
- 1:33:55Speaker 6: it's the guys that were taken, you know, it's cold strange.
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: Instead of Trent McDuffie. That's a missed opportunity. You trade
- 1:34:00Speaker 6: it out of a spot with an all pro caliber
- 1:34:03Speaker 6: cornerback got taken and you needed a corner and you
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: didn't take them. That you lament. But if there's just
- 1:34:09Speaker 6: no good players in the first round. I think that's
- 1:34:11Speaker 6: easier to stomach.
- 1:34:13Speaker 8: In a weird way, I'd like to do to rattle
- 1:34:16Speaker 8: it off those players, Like I feel like it's a
- 1:34:18Speaker 8: question of would you rather just hit it down the
- 1:34:21Speaker 8: fairway with like a high floor player that you know,
- 1:34:24Speaker 8: this guy's going to play in the league. I don't
- 1:34:26Speaker 8: know if it's going to be a star level, but
- 1:34:28Speaker 8: you know, Tyler Warren is going to be a good
- 1:34:30Speaker 8: tight end in the NFL. Is he going to be
- 1:34:32Speaker 8: Rob Gronkowski? Probably not, but he's going to be a
- 1:34:34Speaker 8: good tight end in the NFL. Or would you rather
- 1:34:37Speaker 8: take a chance on the one of the trades guys
- 1:34:39Speaker 8: like mikel Williams, you know, like a Shamar Stewart, you know,
- 1:34:43Speaker 8: one of these pass rushers that have all the raw
- 1:34:45Speaker 8: measurables but don't necessarily have the production in college. And like,
- 1:34:49Speaker 8: you know, that's the debate that that to me is
- 1:34:52Speaker 8: this draft right now for the Patriots and I don't
- 1:34:55Speaker 8: envy the position that would you rather? I would probably
- 1:34:59Speaker 8: for the Patriots right now, I would probably take the
- 1:35:02Speaker 8: safer pick, yep, Because yeah.
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: I think I'm the same thing that's got to be
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: right now you're not in the position to be like, hey,
- 1:35:08Speaker 5: let's take a swing. If it doesn't work out, oh well,
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: we've got other talented guys like and that's what that's
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: what's appealing to me. I think you take a guy
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: like that. If Tyler Warren ends up being your tight
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: end for ten years and no, he's not Gronk, but
- 1:35:18Speaker 5: he's a really good is anyone gonna me and then
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: you're right, though, Paul, I like your point of On
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: one hand, yes, if he's placed for ten years and
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: he solid no one's gonna say what a bust you
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: missed on the fourth overall pick. But if a guy
- 1:35:29Speaker 5: goes two picks later, who's an All World you know,
- 1:35:32Speaker 5: transcendental defensive lineman, you're oh my god, we needed that
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: piece and we missed on it.
- 1:35:37Speaker 6: Yeah, and I would be able. I'd be okay with
- 1:35:40Speaker 6: it as long as I got a really good player,
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: Like if Will Campbell's an All Pro guard and you
- 1:35:44Speaker 6: took him four, and then at six your Georgia guy
- 1:35:49Speaker 6: goes and he turns out.
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: To being car Or two point out right, Hey.
- 1:35:53Speaker 6: Yeah, I miss I missed that opportunity, but I got
- 1:35:55Speaker 6: an All Pro player I picked a really good player.
- 1:35:57Speaker 6: It's when you go in the safe kid and it
- 1:36:01Speaker 6: ends up being not all that safe.
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: Right, Well, then that's when I get into the positional
- 1:36:05Speaker 5: thing and is it you know, is a is a
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: left guard? Is that good enough?
- 1:36:08Speaker 7: You know?
- 1:36:08Speaker 5: Is that impactful enough? And I think, Hannah, some people
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: could make the case like Drake May, Like, if you're
- 1:36:13Speaker 5: gonna protect Drake May up the middle, He's gonna be smart,
- 1:36:16Speaker 5: he's gonna be tough. We saw so many free rushers
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: coming right up the middle last year. He's got attitude,
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: he plays with some grit. You know, there's a lot
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: to love. But still, is he gonna impact the game?
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: Is he gonna do enough for Drake May to make
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: enough of a difference?
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: Uh Ford in Savannah, I loved Travis Hunter for this
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: team for a while. According to the Internet, which is
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: always accurate, Mike Rabel has said they put Hunter as
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: the top receiver and cornerback on the board.
- 1:36:41Speaker 8: Did he say that that was a report from I
- 1:36:45Speaker 8: believe mass lives a little round up of the time.
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: This makes me think that they really want ab Dul Carter.
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: Am I just used to Bill's mind games? Or do
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: you guys see some truth in this. So they're saying
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: all that, but they prefer a Carter.
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: I mean, we asked, asked, I mean now, then I
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: asked Elliot Wolf directly about Travis Hunter, and I don't
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: know if everybody saw the clip, but he told us
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: that Macro wrote up two separate scouting reports on him.
- 1:37:09Speaker 5: Just the vibe I think we've gotten from them is
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: that they they like Travis Hunter.
- 1:37:13Speaker 8: I think they're pretty infatuated by it, like from like
- 1:37:17Speaker 8: a scouting nerdom standpoint, just like talk like that's such
- 1:37:22Speaker 8: a unique player to just talk about, Like even if
- 1:37:25Speaker 8: you're you draft him or not, it's you know, how
- 1:37:28Speaker 8: which position is he better at? How do you what's
- 1:37:30Speaker 8: the plan to play them both ways? Like it's just
- 1:37:33Speaker 8: a fun thing to talk about that you don't get
- 1:37:35Speaker 8: to talk about all the time.
- 1:37:36Speaker 6: You know, I can't remember ever happening. I mean I
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: remember guys who played both ways in college, but not
- 1:37:42Speaker 6: whether there was a true debate as to which side
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: of the ball he was going to play on in
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: the NFL.
- 1:37:47Speaker 8: Because when you when you talk to people about Travis Hunter,
- 1:37:50Speaker 8: you know one of his superpowers is that he can
- 1:37:52Speaker 8: play both ways at such a high level, and so
- 1:37:55Speaker 8: a lot of people feel like if you don't play
- 1:37:57Speaker 8: them both ways, and you're not going to get the
- 1:37:59Speaker 8: most value.
- 1:38:00Speaker 6: PA ask yourself, do you think you'd be the Heisman
- 1:38:02Speaker 6: Trophy winner if you only played corner?
- 1:38:03Speaker 8: Probably not.
- 1:38:04Speaker 6: No same with wide receiver, you probably wouldn't be. So
- 1:38:10Speaker 6: what your superpower theory is probably accurate. That's what makes
- 1:38:14Speaker 6: him so super special is that he played both at
- 1:38:17Speaker 6: an extremely high level.
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: Mike Gerkin writes in the Pairaman better a long time
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: says written in but some things I hope you find
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: interesting that I wanted to share. Let's see, should the
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: NFL be worried? What I mean by this is that
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: with the salary cap ever expanding, teams have the ability
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: to keep whoever they want from a free agent standpoint,
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: teams however, are still required to spend to a certain
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: threshold each year, so potentially having to throw good money
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: at bad players. To compound the problem even further, we
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: are seeing a lack of talent at certain positions when
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: it comes to the draft. This begs the question, as
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: we move forward and the options each year become less
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: and less, how the teams that need to rebuild get
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: better is this just a doomsday scenario in my own head.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: Where has the league seen its best version of itself already?
- 1:39:06Speaker 8: I don't know if I would go that far, but
- 1:39:07Speaker 8: I do think it's an interesting conversation about there's a
- 1:39:11Speaker 8: lot of teams that have a lot of cap space,
- 1:39:13Speaker 8: and there probably aren't a lot of free agents that
- 1:39:15Speaker 8: are worth the cap space.
- 1:39:18Speaker 6: And I think this is that's a good point.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:39:21Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: Also, my player is Sunny Weaver junior post it note
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: note player in this draft got draft is Jalen Knowell out.
- 1:39:29Speaker 8: Of is U.
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: Hopefully you guys understand the reference.
- 1:39:32Speaker 8: Yeah, well I understand the reference. But welcome, Yes, we're
- 1:39:36Speaker 8: all welcoming. Anybody to the fan club is welcome. At
- 1:39:40Speaker 8: some point where you have to cut it off though,
- 1:39:42Speaker 8: like you a week before the draft, either're on the
- 1:39:44Speaker 8: bandwagon or you're off.
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: But for now, it's I mean, it's it's kind of funny.
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: I feel like we're really three of us have talked
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: a lot about this now over the last couple of weeks,
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: and I think we're all kind of in very close
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: lockstep on a lot of these guys, like you know.
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: There's not a lot of like you know, haven't been
- 1:39:59Speaker 6: in an argument weeks.
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: I know, like one of us can't one of us
- 1:40:01Speaker 5: love Mason jam or one of us love Ted McMillan,
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: or you know, one of us be out on Travis Hunter.
- 1:40:06Speaker 6: I really hate it. Yeah, back to the thing about
- 1:40:10Speaker 6: the Rabel piece. You know they have Hunter one wide
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: receiver in corner. That sort of tells me that they
- 1:40:18Speaker 6: must be pretty confident that there's no chance that he's available,
- 1:40:23Speaker 6: assuming that there's any degree of validity to that that
- 1:40:27Speaker 6: they must think. You know, like remember when the year
- 1:40:30Speaker 6: that Bill talked about Robert Gallery coming out of that draft,
- 1:40:32Speaker 6: and they yeah, because you know, we're picking in the
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: you know whatever, probably thirty two, and I can talk
- 1:40:39Speaker 6: about Robert Gallery as a generational offensive line prospect coming
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: out because there's no possible way that I can get
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: him in that draft. Remember, Yeah, that's the way I
- 1:40:51Speaker 6: look at this. If he's talking in very specifics about
- 1:40:54Speaker 6: a player, he must know that he's not going to
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: be available.
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: Do you think is there any other reason why he
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: would that other than.
- 1:41:00Speaker 6: Just smoke screen would be the other one that the
- 1:41:04Speaker 6: email emissions.
- 1:41:05Speaker 8: I don't know. I think he generally like that just Bill.
- 1:41:11Speaker 6: Wanted to marry Robert. He loved to the point where
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: he flamed out with the Raiders, and he brought him
- 1:41:17Speaker 6: here like he loved Robert Gallery. But I just felt
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: like he knew. The reason why he was telling us
- 1:41:23Speaker 6: how much he loved him is because he knew he
- 1:41:25Speaker 6: couldn't get him.
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: Sea Bass and Mass writes in began big welcome back
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: to Deuce and a Lane. You know that he's calling
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: you a lane from Seinfeld. You were like the annoying
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: cast character that I took great offense to people liked
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: or something like that. But he says it out of love.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: He says, I loved the lane on Seinfeld and used
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: the name of Jess much love for Lazarre. But anyway,
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: great coverage from the combine, the draft countdown intro music
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: is the best of the bunch. Seeing how is how
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: Evans I'll change his name back. Latest mock draft had
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: Hunter at four. I wanted to share my opinion on
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: how best to deploy him. We must eventually he must
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: eventually play both ways, if during camp or preseason it's
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: overwhelming for him as a rookie. I see the case
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: for limiting his scope, but I think you need to
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: attempt a dual role from the start. Specifically, as a
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: passing specialist. On offense, he should specialize in three wide
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: receiver sets on the outside. This limits him to around
- 1:42:24Speaker 3: sixty percent of the snaps and limits some of the
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: wear and risks that comes from run blocking. As a
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: wide receiver on defense, he should specialize on third down
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: and obviously passing down coverage fifteen to twenty plays round
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: thirty percent of snaps. That should again limit how much
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: he needs to play against the run, which should hopefully
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: keep him fresh. Thoughts.
- 1:42:46Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm not like, I don't know. I'm not too
- 1:42:50Speaker 8: worried about how he's used in and the number of
- 1:42:55Speaker 8: snaps on each side of the football and all that
- 1:42:57Speaker 8: kind of stuff. I think you should play receiver full time.
- 1:43:01Speaker 8: I've thought that from the jump. I think that that's
- 1:43:04Speaker 8: the position that he's the most valuable at. I think
- 1:43:07Speaker 8: that's the position he's best at in terms of just
- 1:43:10Speaker 8: overall talent. I think Andrew Barry from Cleveland said it perfectly.
- 1:43:14Speaker 8: You know, when you have a guy that has that
- 1:43:16Speaker 8: kind of play speed in ball skills, like how did
- 1:43:19Speaker 8: you don't want him to touch the ball ten times
- 1:43:20Speaker 8: a game? You want him to touch it maybe once.
- 1:43:22Speaker 8: If he picks some you know, picks a pass off
- 1:43:24Speaker 8: or something like that on.
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: Defense, six seventeen picks, it doesn't.
- 1:43:27Speaker 8: Really make much sense.
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: So I.
- 1:43:30Speaker 8: How much he plays corner I think is more about, Okay,
- 1:43:35Speaker 8: we've established that you can that you're at your receiver,
- 1:43:38Speaker 8: you're you're good at receiver. If we add corner, you know,
- 1:43:43Speaker 8: how realistic is it for us to play you ten
- 1:43:46Speaker 8: to fifteen snaps on defense? You know, maybe it's third down. Yeah,
- 1:43:49Speaker 8: I got what.
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: I love when I have someone to saint Paul Can
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: like telling he's no. Something I was thinking about on
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: my own, and I know the answer of what's probably easier, harder,
- 1:43:58Speaker 5: But do you what are the different challenges between teaching
- 1:44:01Speaker 5: a cornerback to play wide receiver or a wide receiver
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: to play cornerback. From like a coaching perspective, It's something
- 1:44:06Speaker 5: I was kind of thinking about, Like, I mean, I
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: would say it's probably easier to teach a wide receiver
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: to play cornerback. I think, like with Troy Brown kind
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: of thing, But ed, I don't know what's the interesting
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: kind of challenges you never see really cornerback.
- 1:44:19Speaker 6: I think that's the biggest thing that no one everybody.
- 1:44:22Speaker 6: The injury thing, the durability thing is very, very real,
- 1:44:26Speaker 6: and it has to be an important If you're going
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: to take this guy one or two overall and you're
- 1:44:31Speaker 6: going to play him every play, your chances are you're
- 1:44:34Speaker 6: not going to get a long career out of him.
- 1:44:35Speaker 6: I think that's a real fear. But wouldn't you worry
- 1:44:39Speaker 6: more about the mental ability of a guy to how
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: do you understand the systems both sides of the ball,
- 1:44:46Speaker 6: the game plans every week, How are you spreading his
- 1:44:48Speaker 6: time at meetings? Mentally? How do you know? I think
- 1:44:52Speaker 6: that's hard. Now again, if you want to do it
- 1:44:54Speaker 6: the way the emailer said that you have a package
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: of plays that he has to know on offense and defense.
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: Smaller thing that's Marcus Jones right, Like, you can do that,
- 1:45:03Speaker 6: but I'm talking about full time. That's a lot.
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: I would just.
- 1:45:08Speaker 8: Worry about if we do something fancy like what the
- 1:45:11Speaker 8: emailer said. I'm worried that he's not going to be
- 1:45:14Speaker 8: impactful on either side of the ball because he's not
- 1:45:16Speaker 8: going to be playing him enough on either side of
- 1:45:18Speaker 8: the ball right to make a real impact. So I'd
- 1:45:21Speaker 8: much rather him play wide receiver full time, kind of
- 1:45:25Speaker 8: like Marcus Jones, and then like Moonlight on defense, where
- 1:45:29Speaker 8: you know, if you just say to him, hey, Travis,
- 1:45:31Speaker 8: we can't stop this guy, so why don't you go
- 1:45:34Speaker 8: take Jamar Chase for a series and let's see if
- 1:45:36Speaker 8: you can do it, then I'd feel a lot better
- 1:45:39Speaker 8: about that.
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:45:40Speaker 8: It's like and remember the Titans when he goes over
- 1:45:41Speaker 8: to PD and he's like, can you just go cover
- 1:45:43Speaker 8: forty two because he's been killing us all night? Like that,
- 1:45:46Speaker 8: that's like what I would do with him on defense,
- 1:45:49Speaker 8: where just go play man to man against this dude titanence, right, Yeah,
- 1:45:55Speaker 8: like you know, and that's it, Like you don't have
- 1:45:57Speaker 8: to worry about man's own you don't have to worry
- 1:45:59Speaker 8: about what the rules are run with this do what
- 1:46:02Speaker 8: you do draft, And that's how I would approach it.
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: Apparently, so just crop dusted the ninety eight point five studio,
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: looks it.
- 1:46:11Speaker 8: He just sits there, the buss the plane.
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: Again, you're getting a lot of criticism, Yeah, Ryan and
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: Colorado for the prime fraud. I love how dude said
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: a couple of months ago that he didn't want a
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: top two pick and that he preferred to be fourth
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: or fifth. Now he opens the show today saying, we're
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: at four and in no man's land.
- 1:46:31Speaker 5: I'm not a fraud because I didn't you know that.
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: You didn't know the draftings for guys.
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: I didn't know the draft as well.
- 1:46:36Speaker 6: So everybody else did.
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: Everyone else knew exactly who the two guys were.
- 1:46:40Speaker 6: I'm certainly guilty of that. I didn't realize that there's
- 1:46:42Speaker 6: only going to be two players worth rafting.
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: Would have thought.
- 1:46:44Speaker 8: I tried to tell you.
- 1:46:47Speaker 6: How many times I got to say you were right.
- 1:46:48Speaker 8: I don't want to, you know, not even that.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: I just, you know, just Dylan writes in probably my
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: worst take that I can remember is Nikhil Harry. I
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: thought he was going to come in as a thousand
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: yard receiver as a rookie, have a Mike Evans type
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: of career. Maybe my best take is thinking that Justin
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: Jefferson would be the best wide receiver in the NFL,
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: But I guess that's up for debate. I also feel
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: the same way about Brian Thomas Junior, though, so maybe
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: I just like LSU wide receivers. So let's here everyone's
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: worst and best take they've had. It doesn't have to
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: be about the Patriots or about a player in the draft.
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: It can be a free agent signing or trade, or
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: even a coaching change. But a take that you had
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: that you nailed in something you look back at and
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: laugh how wrong you were.
- 1:47:32Speaker 5: I've said this one before, but I didn't want Dante
- 1:47:35Speaker 5: high Tower because I thought he was too much like
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: Brandon Spikes. That that was a bad news take for sure.
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: In what way?
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: Well, we got a big, physical inside linebacker, you know,
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: I didn't realize, like, no, not like.
- 1:47:45Speaker 6: Fred likes Brandon Spikes.
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: Do you like Spikes?
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: What's that you?
- 1:47:50Speaker 5: Brandon Spikes?
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: Oh he was a good guy.
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: Yeah, he liked photos surfacing on the Internet of Brandon Spikes. Well,
- 1:47:56Speaker 6: it was a video makes you feel further proving that
- 1:47:59Speaker 6: I never saw.
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: Now you'd be questioning your manhood for the rest of
- 1:48:03Speaker 5: I had.
- 1:48:04Speaker 6: I had two guys coming out of drafts that I
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: really really liked, and they both sucked, Vernon Goldston and
- 1:48:11Speaker 6: Aaron Mabon. I really liked both of those guys, and
- 1:48:15Speaker 6: ironically or coincidentally, I guess they went to AFC East
- 1:48:19Speaker 6: teams and were colossal buss.
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: I guess I guess the worst take I've had was
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: Matt Patricia would be fine as an offensive cord.
- 1:48:29Speaker 6: And I'm still going to give you slack for that.
- 1:48:31Speaker 6: Why because I don't think you really believed it.
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: No I did.
- 1:48:34Speaker 12: No.
- 1:48:34Speaker 6: I honestly just talked yourself into No.
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: I honestly did no.
- 1:48:37Speaker 6: I I thought Richard Seymour, I wanted to I wanted
- 1:48:41Speaker 6: David Terrell. So I famously said I was going to
- 1:48:44Speaker 6: resign when they after Richard Seamo.
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: I was also over twelve win seasons.
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: That was That was a bad take. Yeah, my good
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: takes too long to list.
- 1:48:55Speaker 6: Justin Jefferson would be one of yours, just one McConkie. Now,
- 1:48:59Speaker 6: there were a lot of guys that really I.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: Mean, I was on Robbie Gould before anyone was on
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: Robbie Gould.
- 1:49:06Speaker 6: There were a lot of guys that get drafted that
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: you know, I've liked over the years and they turn
- 1:49:10Speaker 6: out to be really good players. But that's boring. It's
- 1:49:12Speaker 6: more fun to talk about the guys like Vernon Goldston. Yeah,
- 1:49:14Speaker 6: like I was all in on Vernon.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: The list of guys is too long, But I know
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: you want to get a slack, but I don't know why.
- 1:49:22Speaker 6: I honestly believe I really don't think that you did well.
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: I'm telling you I did.
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: But I think you're being magnanimous.
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: No, I'm not. I was wrong. I was wrong. I
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: was wrong.
- 1:49:33Speaker 8: I would say the worst. I was a big Trey
- 1:49:35Speaker 8: Lance guy, big Trey Lance guy. That one was bad.
- 1:49:41Speaker 8: I still kind of believe a little bit in Trey Lance.
- 1:49:43Speaker 8: I'm not gonna lie. Still.
- 1:49:44Speaker 6: I have that a little bit with justin fields.
- 1:49:46Speaker 8: Yeah, I just like you never get a chance three games.
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: In the last ten years.
- 1:49:52Speaker 6: I would agree with you with Lance, He's never really
- 1:49:54Speaker 6: got a chance to play these fields.
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: I'll give you another one. This is non football. But
- 1:49:59Speaker 3: I was probably the last guy in the planet who
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: thought that Lance Armstrong was clean.
- 1:50:05Speaker 6: Oh yes, Andy used to torture Fred about that.
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: Really, It's like, there's no way all the cancer stuff
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: he does is no way he would do that. I
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: was the last guy.
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: Guy.
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: Well, yeah, in fairness, and in fairness, Indy and Paul
- 1:50:24Speaker 6: doubt everybody.
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: So yeah, that's we had to be right.
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: Once in a while.
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: There was a guy here who was a big guy,
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: and he sat next to Andy's cube, and like Andy
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: would torture him, you know, go to stir of the steroids,
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: and finally the guy snapped out at him, like what
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: did he say? And he shut that f up.
- 1:50:42Speaker 6: They didn't talk for a long time.
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Andy and Andy shut up.
- 1:50:45Speaker 6: Yeah, guy was twice aside of Yeah, that was.
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: Funny that day. There was a lot and he would
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: sit at the like the way the cubes were. Andy
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: was like at a crossroads, so like there was an
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: aisle here in an aisle there, like a t there
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: was a lot of traffic and you know, he sat
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: right at the end there. The chatter that would come
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: out of just his cube all day long. He never
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: shut up. He never shut up.
- 1:51:15Speaker 6: And was a He's a born troublemaker.
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah, he's what my great aunt would say,
- 1:51:21Speaker 3: an imp. He's an MP.
- 1:51:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not sure familiar with that thing for me.
- 1:51:28Speaker 8: Yeah, that's what I thought.
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: Kelly and salt Lake right saying, is Travis Hunter on
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: the same level as Gonzo being a corner. If he's
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: not a wide receiver, If Gonzo can't slow down a
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: top receiver, the Patriots aren't stopping them.
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: It's a little, well not that much smaller, really, I.
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: Think I think I think Gonzo is a good technician
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: and a graceful corner. I think that Travis Hunter has
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: has that Darrell Reeves, Deon Sanders type of thing in
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: him with, you know, just that ability to make up
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: space instincts, you know, vision of the field, knowing way
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: to when to come off his receiver. He's got that.
- 1:52:13Speaker 8: I would say that I love Gonzo.
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: Everyone knows that.
- 1:52:15Speaker 8: Yeah, Travis Hunter is definitely a better cornerback prospect than
- 1:52:19Speaker 8: Gonzo was. Just a natural ability his ball howking skills
- 1:52:24Speaker 8: playmaker watch more of a playmaker special?
- 1:52:27Speaker 5: Oh yeah, special athletes just fun to watch and even
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: just move like how smooth they are and graceful. But
- 1:52:34Speaker 5: I totally that's exactly what I was going to say.
- 1:52:36Speaker 8: Ball skills Travis Hunter is uh, you know, I always
- 1:52:40Speaker 8: hate using the word generational, but like he's he's special.
- 1:52:43Speaker 8: Every five years, maybe you have a prospect like Travis
- 1:52:47Speaker 8: Hunter at corner you know he's really really good.
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and but we don't talk about him really that
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: way at wide receivers. So I don't understand why some
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: people are saying he's a better wide receiver than he
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: is a cornerback.
- 1:52:57Speaker 8: Well, because his ball skills and the way he plays
- 1:53:00Speaker 8: the football in the air is just so good that
- 1:53:02Speaker 8: he makes a lot of contested catches the size that
- 1:53:05Speaker 8: you wouldn't expect, So his hands are just magnets.
- 1:53:08Speaker 6: And maybe people are looking at it like Andrew Berry said,
- 1:53:11Speaker 6: like why wouldn't you want to get the ball in
- 1:53:12Speaker 6: the guy's hands ten times? And maybe he's not as
- 1:53:15Speaker 6: good a wide receiver as he as a cornerback, but
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: wide receivers are more valuable.
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yep, it's true. I don't know that that might
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: be why I'm just uh Longino from Jersey writes in
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: I just want to say to Evan if you heard
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: the things being said about him last week, but I'm
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: I'm team boneless. I don't mind eating wings, but boneless
- 1:53:38Speaker 3: is just easier to eat, and it's just as flavorable. Evan.
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: They said to stop talking non football takes, and your
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: takes are bad, but I disagree. You're they're unexpected and
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: love the bicker between you and Paul, So continue voicing
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: your opinion. Don't let them silence you. It's not It's
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: not a matter of boneless wings not tasting good. They're
- 1:53:58Speaker 3: not boneless wings. They're chicken. Nugget.
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: Then they don't taste as good as chicken wings. Well
- 1:54:02Speaker 6: they don't.
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: They have a different taste. It's a different They taste great,
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: but it's different.
- 1:54:06Speaker 8: I didn't realize that this was so polarizing something.
- 1:54:09Speaker 6: The pain thing is, this didn't come up last week.
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: It was about your take Colin the old Canseco field House.
- 1:54:15Speaker 6: What's it called out game Bridge. Oh yeah, you called
- 1:54:18Speaker 6: that the barn. And it's not called the not the bar.
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: But we had somebody who, yes, somebody who said it's Butler,
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: but it's it's Minnesota.
- 1:54:29Speaker 6: And I said, when someone said Butler last week that
- 1:54:32Speaker 6: I've been to Hincklefield House and I don't remember anybody
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: calling at the barn.
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:54:36Speaker 8: I'm so sorry. I'm not familiar with university.
- 1:54:40Speaker 6: We call hockeys. He adds to the that's a great
- 1:54:44Speaker 6: that's a great barn bar, great barn bar.
- 1:54:47Speaker 8: I all I know is I a lot of last week.
- 1:54:50Speaker 6: Apparently you did catch a lot.
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: Of some defenders. Though I watched the clip they clipped
- 1:54:53Speaker 5: off one that I didn't.
- 1:54:54Speaker 8: I didn't appreciate some of the things in that clip.
- 1:54:56Speaker 6: Oh I did. I was I was tossing kerosene on it.
- 1:54:59Speaker 8: Well there, I have enough time for me.
- 1:55:03Speaker 6: But boneless do not taste the same. They taste fine.
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: That's you know, it's a perfectly good substitute.
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: Would just graduate the boneless eating experience a little more.
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: I don't like getting the grist and get around it.
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: And I always feel like I didn't get enough meat
- 1:55:16Speaker 5: off the bone. You know, it's I'm leaving too much.
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: It's a different experience and it doesn't taste the same.
- 1:55:21Speaker 5: No, And I'm willing to just you know, I just
- 1:55:24Speaker 5: want to deliver the buffalo and blue cheese.
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: But I'm a flat skuy when it comes to bone in.
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: I like the flats better than the drumstick. It's like
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: I think the meat is better.
- 1:55:33Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I like them both equally.
- 1:55:35Speaker 5: You just do the old like suck it right off
- 1:55:37Speaker 5: and just what's that? Well, there are people that pull buffalo,
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: you know, the flats. You can just all that's left
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: is like two bones and the and the and the
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: and the cartilage around it, and like, well, you know what,
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: it addresses my thing, and I'll feeling like I get
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: all the meat.
- 1:55:51Speaker 6: You never hate it like that, did you?
- 1:55:53Speaker 7: No?
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: I would never even attempt that. That's too like that,
- 1:55:57Speaker 5: just pull it right out right and then they just pop,
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: you know, and then it's like a boneless tender.
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: We'll lend the show with a child, I know, we'll
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: lend the show with another. Will Campbell arm length email?
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: This is from Ron. Wait a minute, I got to
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: go to Eldred. He's been holding on. I'm sorry, sorry, Aldred,
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: let me get to you. What's up, Eldred?
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: Oh my bad?
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: He didn't hold on?
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: My bad?
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: Pulled over.
- 1:56:23Speaker 6: You did say you're going to end the show?
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: Ron and Conway, New Hampshire. In short, I say I
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: was destroyed about Campbell's arm length. That's an understatement, however,
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: being that I work in a machine shop every day
- 1:56:36Speaker 3: and use every measuring device known when I'm not giving
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: uh giving with my band, I don't know what that means.
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: Maybe he's in a band to measure with. I literally
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: measured the undersized measurements of Campbell. The difference of the
- 1:56:50Speaker 3: League standards of thirty three inches and Campbell's length is
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: literally the thickness of a pencil erasure plus to mension thickness. Wow.
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: I to believe that he's now undervalued or has lack
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: of talent to do the job at left tackle. In
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: my opinion, that's freaking crazy as far as value. I'm
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: not an economics major, but Jesus, he's valued just fine.
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: I wish everyone would stop the negative nitpicking of him
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: and draft him, no matter if it's drafting for a
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: need or not. We need to face the facts that
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: free agents aren't coming here for various reasons until we
- 1:57:25Speaker 3: start winning again. Just my opinion, and I'm a nobody.
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: Thanks for listening. Welcome back, Evan induced You guys were
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: great during the combine.
- 1:57:32Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: I don't mean to, but so it is the needs
- 1:57:36Speaker 3: so great that you overlooked us the four rights of
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: an inch and you take I.
- 1:57:41Speaker 6: Don't understand why people. If you think it's not an issue,
- 1:57:45Speaker 6: then draft him. That's fine. But I don't understand why
- 1:57:48Speaker 6: people can't figure this out. The league thinks it's an issue.
- 1:57:53Speaker 6: The league get large. There's six guys out of how
- 1:57:55Speaker 6: many even there your tweet, sixty sixty seven guys have
- 1:57:59Speaker 6: played a certain on a snap. Five six have arms
- 1:58:03Speaker 6: that are shorter than thirty three inches. Am I to
- 1:58:07Speaker 6: believe that that's not an issue when it's that kind
- 1:58:10Speaker 6: of a ratio, When fewer than ten percent of the
- 1:58:13Speaker 6: players that played five hundred snaps have arms that I
- 1:58:16Speaker 6: have to and out of those, Campbell's arms are on
- 1:58:18Speaker 6: the short side.
- 1:58:19Speaker 7: I know.
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: But of those six people, do they have what Campbell
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: has in terms of his athleticism and all that?
- 1:58:25Speaker 6: Why not?
- 1:58:25Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:58:26Speaker 8: It's a fair question.
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: I don't know who they are.
- 1:58:27Speaker 6: But like, athleticism isn't the number one thing I'd look
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: for for an off.
- 1:58:31Speaker 3: Can he make up for the fact that his arms
- 1:58:33Speaker 3: are shorter?
- 1:58:34Speaker 6: And my guess is the NFL is telling you no,
- 1:58:37Speaker 6: I don't know. That's my guess based on the reaction
- 1:58:40Speaker 6: that came from Sunday afternoon. My guess is you can
- 1:58:43Speaker 6: cross him off the tackle list. Okay, Now, if someone
- 1:58:46Speaker 6: takes him and he plays tackle, good for you you
- 1:58:50Speaker 6: you were bold enough to do it. I don't know
- 1:58:51Speaker 6: that the pagerot's in a position to make that dice roll.
- 1:58:54Speaker 3: That's why we need Dante.
- 1:58:56Speaker 8: That's why, like whether it's.
- 1:58:57Speaker 6: Fills a neither or not, it would scare the crap
- 1:58:59Speaker 6: out of me that I'm going to take a guy
- 1:59:01Speaker 6: who might not be able to play the position I'm
- 1:59:03Speaker 6: taking him for.
- 1:59:04Speaker 8: That's what it comes down to, is are you the
- 1:59:06Speaker 8: team that can afford the gamble?
- 1:59:08Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:59:08Speaker 8: And I think you know if you're a different position,
- 1:59:11Speaker 8: if you're a team that you know happens to have
- 1:59:13Speaker 8: a top ten pick but had a great record last year,
- 1:59:15Speaker 8: and you feel comfortable with the rest of your roster,
- 1:59:17Speaker 8: and you're just grabbing the talent like that's one thing, right.
- 1:59:22Speaker 8: He needs to be a cornerstone franchise left tackle for
- 1:59:25Speaker 8: the page.
- 1:59:26Speaker 6: And again, I just want to state, because I don't
- 1:59:27Speaker 6: want this to come back and bite me someday. This
- 1:59:29Speaker 6: is not my take. This is the NFL's take, right.
- 1:59:33Speaker 6: I don't know enough about offensive line play to know
- 1:59:35Speaker 6: that that eraser size makes a difference, but evidently those
- 1:59:39Speaker 6: that do know this stuff believe it does.
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: Dana, Virginia and Michigan. Of all the odd things that
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: Fred and Paul have argued about, this almost argument, with
- 1:59:50Speaker 3: Paul saying Fred was right and Fred adamant that he
- 1:59:52Speaker 3: was wrong, it is perhaps the most unexpected.
- 1:59:54Speaker 6: It's unsettling. I still think you're being mad, you know,
- 1:59:59Speaker 6: I'm you wanted to You played the role as you
- 2:00:02Speaker 6: often do on this show of the Beacon of Hope.
- 2:00:05Speaker 3: I know, but I was dead serious. It came back
- 2:00:07Speaker 3: and I was dead serious, and I was wrong. I
- 2:00:09Speaker 3: can admit when I'm wrong. All Right, that's gonna be
- 2:00:11Speaker 3: it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back
- 2:00:15Speaker 3: on Thursday, when is Catch twenty two this tomorrow and
- 2:00:19Speaker 3: Barth is back.
- 2:00:19Speaker 8: Barth is back. I don't know if they make him
- 2:00:23Speaker 8: walk back. I don't know if he's alive. No, I
- 2:00:25Speaker 8: know he's alive.
- 2:00:26Speaker 3: So that's going to be a big show tomorrow. The
- 2:00:27Speaker 3: two of you wrap combine, wrap up the combine. Oh
- 2:00:30Speaker 3: my god.
- 2:00:31Speaker 8: We haven't really talked about free agency a whole lot
- 2:00:33Speaker 8: because we've just been all draft. So we'll have some
- 2:00:35Speaker 8: free agency takes as well.
- 2:00:37Speaker 3: What's Boss War's take?
- 2:00:38Speaker 8: Ever, I don't know, there's too many.
- 2:00:43Speaker 6: Wow, Buffalo was done. I heard Josh Allen.
- 2:00:46Speaker 8: I would say Josh again, Yeah he was.
- 2:00:49Speaker 6: Josh Allen stinks is a lot of people, a lot
- 2:00:51Speaker 6: of people, and that's one of that's one of that
- 2:00:54Speaker 6: I would put on the positive side that I was
- 2:00:57Speaker 6: on board the Josh Josh Allen or lamar Ja.
- 2:01:01Speaker 8: Yeah. It wasn't big on either one of those guys.
- 2:01:03Speaker 3: And you know, I tried to tell them okay, all right, Well,
- 2:01:06Speaker 3: we'll look forward to Catch twenty two on tomorrow and
- 2:01:10Speaker 3: we will see you on Patriots Unfiltered on Thursday.
