- 37:24Speaker 2: Doggy all right, folks, we've got Rama on the line
- 37:36Speaker 2: with us right now.
- 37:37Speaker 29: How are you Rama, I'm doing great, Dammy, how are you?
- 37:42Speaker 2: I am looking forward to the show this Thursday right
- 37:45Speaker 2: here on the signal on Ruckus Avenue Radio. I love
- 37:48Speaker 2: it because I'm hearing it right before I turn on
- 37:51Speaker 2: my microphone at nine am. I'm literally, like you know,
- 37:54Speaker 2: just turning off the app in time so the mic
- 37:56Speaker 2: doesn't catch the end of your show man. I'm looking
- 37:59Speaker 2: forward to the what you guys got planned.
- 38:02Speaker 29: So this Thursday we have a very very silly and
- 38:07Speaker 29: it's a two part episode where the first half of
- 38:09Speaker 29: it is very silly, where we're talking about idioms, aphorisms
- 38:14Speaker 29: and just how interesting language is across the world. There's
- 38:19Speaker 29: a noise from parking my car. Basically, as we know,
- 38:23Speaker 29: language is a transmutable thing and some of our favorite
- 38:29Speaker 29: phrases we just don't even know where they come from.
- 38:31Speaker 29: But especially when you're looking at things in English for
- 38:33Speaker 29: things in Hindi, it's just rich, especially in phrases in
- 38:38Speaker 29: India versus Pakistan. So we delve into a little bit
- 38:42Speaker 29: of that before we get into a very in depth
- 38:44Speaker 29: discussion about the importance of showing up for the South
- 38:49Speaker 29: Asian community. So when movies come out or TV shows
- 38:53Speaker 29: that feature leads from our community, could be things like
- 38:57Speaker 29: Selli Boys and Nights, Indian Boy, India, Sweeps and Spices,
- 39:02Speaker 29: any of those movies. The importance of going to the
- 39:06Speaker 29: box office, and not just the red carpet, but going
- 39:09Speaker 29: to the box office, inviting your friends and your family
- 39:13Speaker 29: to actually support these works that we're all creating, because
- 39:18Speaker 29: it's the most important thing that we can do. You can't,
- 39:22Speaker 29: on one hand, scream about representation and opportunities and the
- 39:27Speaker 29: lack thereof, and then when they actually do show up,
- 39:32Speaker 29: it doesn't have to be right.
- 39:34Speaker 2: It doesn't have to be a.
- 39:35Speaker 29: Billion dollar box office type movie. It can be these
- 39:39Speaker 29: indie movies, these interesting movies that we want to see
- 39:43Speaker 29: for our community.
- 39:44Speaker 2: And it's really important coming for you three of you guys,
- 39:47Speaker 2: because you guys are all in the entertainment business and
- 39:49Speaker 2: probably see this quite often. I would assume we see.
- 39:53Speaker 29: It a lot and we're acknowledging it at the same
- 39:56Speaker 29: time that we can be equally guilty of it. Where
- 40:01Speaker 29: there's just not enough time in the day to watch
- 40:03Speaker 29: everything and engage with everything, but you can take that
- 40:08Speaker 29: time to go to a movie, you can take that
- 40:12Speaker 29: time to try to see things from India and the
- 40:15Speaker 29: ott culture. Some of the shows like Little Things were
- 40:20Speaker 29: small budget without major stars in it, but have such
- 40:24Speaker 29: amazing storytelling and acting in it. And that was a
- 40:27Speaker 29: Web best show. It wasn't one of these Dynastics shows
- 40:30Speaker 29: with huge stars. It's made stars. The writing is smart,
- 40:34Speaker 29: it's modern, and those are the kinds of shows like
- 40:37Speaker 29: that or Deli Boys. It's don Hulu, it's on Disney Plus.
- 40:42Speaker 29: Our friends are on it and it's gotten incredible reviews
- 40:45Speaker 29: and their second season is out and they're doing great.
- 40:49Speaker 29: But we want them to be able to get a
- 40:50Speaker 29: third season where it's not a live or die kind
- 40:53Speaker 29: of thing of how many people are going to show
- 40:55Speaker 29: up determines whether they g hit another season. The same
- 41:00Speaker 29: energy that people have when they show up for project
- 41:03Speaker 29: that Mindy has, like Never Have I Ever, or Running
- 41:06Speaker 29: Point or the Mindi Project. We just want people to
- 41:09Speaker 29: try to bring that energy seeing other things, whether it's
- 41:12Speaker 29: art films or these big budget sayings. It's totally the
- 41:16Speaker 29: idea of there's so many of us in the world,
- 41:20Speaker 29: in India alone and Palkistan alone, in all the diaspora
- 41:24Speaker 29: and in banglades Nipal and everything that if we together
- 41:29Speaker 29: show up and see the things that we make, we
- 41:34Speaker 29: have a much better chance to.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Move the media. It would move them needly, they say completely.
- 41:39Speaker 29: Actay shares his dream that what he wants to see
- 41:43Speaker 29: for Basy culture is what we have been seeing coming
- 41:47Speaker 29: out of South Korea with the Boom, Demon Hunters and
- 41:51Speaker 29: all these shows. He wants to see that same kind
- 41:54Speaker 29: of global joy about Basy stories. But he was also
- 42:00Speaker 29: confronting the idea of well, people are showing up for them,
- 42:03Speaker 29: but we can't even show up for ourselves. So the
- 42:06Speaker 29: first step to getting our stories out there is and
- 42:08Speaker 29: making sure that we as people in the community actually
- 42:11Speaker 29: are showing up yeah, and not just complaining about it
- 42:15Speaker 29: when people don't.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 2: You know, the show itself. The three of you guys,
- 42:20Speaker 2: with your distinct backgrounds. You're in three different countries. For
- 42:25Speaker 2: the most part, You're in India with Ukshay, You're in
- 42:29Speaker 2: Pakistan with Mona, and here you are in the US
- 42:33Speaker 2: here in La there's this interesting discussion going on where
- 42:36Speaker 2: the three of you all have this kind of diaspora
- 42:39Speaker 2: background or you're very keyed into what's going on here,
- 42:43Speaker 2: and then this intimate knowledge of what's going on in
- 42:45Speaker 2: the subcontinent over there. And what I really love about
- 42:48Speaker 2: your show is, even though there is this kind of
- 42:51Speaker 2: each of these places have their way of doing things,
- 42:55Speaker 2: but because you're so kind of aware of how things
- 42:58Speaker 2: are here on the West or in certain elements, you know,
- 43:02Speaker 2: it gives you a little bit more of a footing
- 43:03Speaker 2: to discuss them pretty openly and have a pretty learned
- 43:07Speaker 2: discussion about whatever the specific issual issue may be, whether
- 43:11Speaker 2: it's entertainment or what. I really love some of the
- 43:13Speaker 2: social conversations that the three of you guys have amongst
- 43:16Speaker 2: each other. You know, I love that mix because we
- 43:19Speaker 2: can all relate to it.
- 43:21Speaker 29: Yeah, we surprise each other every time. And a big
- 43:23Speaker 29: thing that is to be noted. Blackshay grew up through
- 43:28Speaker 29: college in the US before going to India and becoming
- 43:31Speaker 29: the Bollywood star. Mona was born in Karachi, left when
- 43:35Speaker 29: she was a kid, but in New York and La
- 43:38Speaker 29: became this big successful stand up and then she went
- 43:42Speaker 29: back to Pakistan. Yeah, and in even more recent discussions
- 43:45Speaker 29: that we have in future episodes that are going to
- 43:47Speaker 29: come up, they both have acknowledged that they don't foresee
- 43:52Speaker 29: themselves moving back to the US.
- 43:53Speaker 5: Wow.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Wow.
- 43:54Speaker 29: They see themselves in India, in Pakistan or Singapore came up,
- 44:00Speaker 29: Portugal came up. There are other places that their eyes
- 44:04Speaker 29: have been open to where they still have their love
- 44:07Speaker 29: for the US, but the objectivity that they've gotten from
- 44:12Speaker 29: being outside of it, especially with recent political administrations and everything.
- 44:18Speaker 29: They love the people, but don't necessarily feel that they're
- 44:23Speaker 29: a part of this anymore. They feel like they're part
- 44:26Speaker 29: of the world and the global society more so than
- 44:30Speaker 29: an American citizen in many ways. And I think that
- 44:34Speaker 29: the healthy way to view our place in the world,
- 44:37Speaker 29: where we're not walking around with one singular flag waving
- 44:41Speaker 29: it around saying this is who I am, this is
- 44:43Speaker 29: my identity. All three of us and our guests, we
- 44:47Speaker 29: just wander through different communities, different societies, different countries, and
- 44:52Speaker 29: we keep inviting that curiosity. Is that Mark Twain said,
- 44:56Speaker 29: approximately the only cure for ignorance is travel.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Travel, right right, brother, So.
- 45:02Speaker 29: Opening up your perspectives and challenging what you think to
- 45:05Speaker 29: be known. There are points where I'll say, we'll speak
- 45:09Speaker 29: about how things are done here in the US and
- 45:14Speaker 29: in more glowing terms talk about how things are being
- 45:16Speaker 29: done in India, where we can, on the opposite side say,
- 45:19Speaker 29: hey man, you haven't actually worked over here in the
- 45:23Speaker 29: same way that we have like Mona and I have
- 45:26Speaker 29: in recent years. So there are great things happening. There
- 45:30Speaker 29: is a lot of positive momentum in many ways, but
- 45:33Speaker 29: we're also realistic about where the shortfalls are within the industry,
- 45:38Speaker 29: within the community, and we just challenge ourselves to learn
- 45:42Speaker 29: more and invite everybody else to learn along with us.
- 45:47Speaker 2: We can't wait. Rama. Thank you very much for joining
- 45:51Speaker 2: us here this morning. I think for us the Ist
- 45:55Speaker 2: Show has been just such an exciting addition to Ruckus
- 45:58Speaker 2: Avenue Radio, just for all the things that we just
- 46:02Speaker 2: spoke about here, and for all of you folks that
- 46:05Speaker 2: have not heard this show yet, do yourself for favor,
- 46:09Speaker 2: tune in a little bit earlier than you do here
- 46:11Speaker 2: for us on the bridge at nine am. If you
- 46:13Speaker 2: were checking us out on PST, just tune in at
- 46:16Speaker 2: eight am and you can get to hear those three
- 46:19Speaker 2: guys just or two guys in the goal rather put
- 46:21Speaker 2: on a great show. I s t really looking forward.
- 46:24Speaker 29: And it'll repeat at night at eight o'clock at night.
- 46:27Speaker 29: There you go, an adult available on iHeartRadio, brocketthabnue dot
- 46:32Speaker 29: com and wherever fine podcasts are downloaded.
- 46:35Speaker 2: There you go, brother, Thanks so much, Rama, thank you
- 46:39Speaker 2: all right, Rama, here's the next song.

- 49:24Speaker 2: and it gives me the opportunity to give a shout
- 49:27Speaker 2: out to Jazzy B. I'll tell you why. The gentleman
- 49:31Speaker 2: has been doing a fabulous job of collaborating with a
- 49:36Speaker 2: lot of the artists out there to reinvent his positioning.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Done a great job. Now let's bringing Doaa to the show.
- 49:43Speaker 36: Thanks Sammy. Hey everyone, this is your Rukasavna radio music
- 49:48Speaker 36: Curs Bunning back with some fun thoughts about your favorite
- 49:50Speaker 36: artists Misprica, Hit Bano and Dan Witzman who returns to
- 49:53Speaker 36: hits like dil Bar and Vemas, has been redefining Bollywood
- 49:57Speaker 36: music with this modern shanra blending style. But he's just
- 50:00Speaker 36: not about the remixes. This guy knows how to create
- 50:03Speaker 36: magic with original compositions too. And speaking of magic, his
- 50:06Speaker 36: latest release Wrung from the movie Sky Force is making waves.
- 50:10Speaker 36: This collaboration with the soulful set. Then there's Rdach and
- 50:13Speaker 36: Zara as Khan perfectly showcases his ability to fuse contemporary
- 50:16Speaker 36: beats with heartfelt melodies, the words like the if, a
- 50:20Speaker 36: for but and an act for delivering back to back kids.
- 50:23Speaker 36: Stanish Bucchi has cemented himself as a true game changer
- 50:27Speaker 36: in the music industry.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Well that's all for me.
- 50:29Speaker 36: Now back to you, Sammy, thank.
- 50:31Speaker 2: You, Deita, thank you very much for that. Now I'm
- 50:34Speaker 2: going to play a song. The song is called bess
- 50:38Speaker 2: A Lao okay, and it is a play off of
- 50:43Speaker 2: the old classic Bela Chow, bela Chow, bela chi chow.
- 50:47Speaker 2: So you may like this or you may think this
- 50:50Speaker 2: is corny. Let's decide together. Here's Danish budgie.
