Transcript
- 0:03There have been a handful of things that
- 0:06illustrate we are kicking off the twenty
- 0:09twenty six CrossFit game season.
- 0:12Let's talk next.
- 0:25I love the chase and the hunt,
- 0:26and I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:28I always take what I want,
- 0:29and I always give it one hundred.
- 0:31Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:32Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:34I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:35Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:37Now wake up!
- 0:38It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:40Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:42friend to me.
- 0:43It's not working out,
- 0:45maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:46It's time to break up so I can
- 0:48make a better me.
- 0:50Surprise, we got the cowboy here.
- 0:54And he's muted.
- 0:55There we go.
- 0:57How about now?
- 1:01Yeah, you're good.
- 1:03Sorry I'm late.
- 1:05Yeah.
- 1:07Like I said at the end of yesterday's
- 1:08show,
- 1:08I don't even know when the Cowboys come
- 1:10in.
- 1:10Right?
- 1:12So I thought, well...
- 1:14I got on today, didn't see Corey.
- 1:15I'm going to have to do this one
- 1:17on my own.
- 1:20Just run a little behind.
- 1:22And all of a sudden,
- 1:23I get the message.
- 1:23A guy named Corey just entered the studio.
- 1:27Some dude.
- 1:29Yeah.
- 1:30So, you're here.
- 1:33I am.
- 1:34This is not a reasonable facsimile
- 1:37thereof.
- 1:37It's actually me.
- 1:39Sean in Oregon says, giddy up.
- 1:43Got to ride, baby.
- 1:44Got to ride.
- 1:46So Mike DeVito says, missed the last few.
- 1:49My job is getting in the way of
- 1:50my passions.
- 1:51Got to do something about that, man.
- 1:53Yeah.
- 1:54Quit your job is what we recommend over
- 1:56here.
- 1:56Yeah.
- 1:58Same.
- 1:59Sean in Oregon.
- 2:00Same.
- 2:00I block off Friday mornings to at least
- 2:02get one live session in a week.
- 2:04Got to do what you got to do.
- 2:06I feel like Sean was here either yesterday
- 2:07or the day before.
- 2:10You know,
- 2:10I block off this lunch hour every single
- 2:13day.
- 2:15I hate when people are like, yeah,
- 2:16screw you.
- 2:17I'm going to schedule the meeting anyway.
- 2:22I had one of those meetings yesterday,
- 2:24man,
- 2:24that one o'clock meeting I had to get
- 2:25to scheduled for one hour.
- 2:29We went one hour and twelve minutes.
- 2:32Ain't got nothing done.
- 2:36do i'm at a point in my career
- 2:38where like i just don't want the stress
- 2:39of anything and i know the people i
- 2:41work with don't listen anyway so i just
- 2:44don't talk anymore like i just i sit
- 2:46there and i listen i wait for whatever's
- 2:49going on and then i just deal with
- 2:51it yesterday because i just couldn't take
- 2:55it anymore good for you i couldn't take
- 2:58it anymore
- 2:59Stay on your ground.
- 3:01I've been in these meetings for four
- 3:02months.
- 3:03I'm supposed to build a webpage for this
- 3:07other agency to use our job site where
- 3:11we do like a predetermined sorting of the
- 3:16jobs to their specific needs, right?
- 3:22The ball's been in their court for two
- 3:23months.
- 3:24All I need is a sign-off to start.
- 3:27Can't get the sign-off.
- 3:30Cannot get the sign off.
- 3:32And yesterday we talked for an hour and
- 3:34twelve minutes about the same subject.
- 3:38And none of it,
- 3:39none of it helped me get any closer
- 3:42to a sign off.
- 3:46Because we go one direction and they say,
- 3:48well, that doesn't meet this need.
- 3:50So then we come back to the direction
- 3:52of this need.
- 3:53Well, now we're not meeting this need.
- 3:55And I finally stood up and said,
- 3:56because these two needs are mutually
- 3:59exclusive.
- 4:00You can't meet both of the needs with
- 4:02what you want to do.
- 4:04So you've got to pick one.
- 4:06You have to pick one.
- 4:07Just one.
- 4:11And honestly,
- 4:12I really don't care which one it is.
- 4:13Just pick one.
- 4:13I just want to get started because every
- 4:17other week I meet with my boss and
- 4:18he's like, where are we at with that?
- 4:20We're in the exact same place we were
- 4:22four months ago because they will not sign
- 4:24off on this.
- 4:29Truly,
- 4:30truly what I've been trying to do for
- 4:32the last couple of years is just collect
- 4:34the check.
- 4:35But I get to this point where like
- 4:38riff boy comes out of my head and
- 4:41into my mouth and I just start talking.
- 4:45Well,
- 4:46especially as you get older and less prone
- 4:49to want to deal with bullshit.
- 4:51Yeah.
- 4:52especially when you've been in your job
- 4:53for a long time you know what you're
- 4:54doing you're established people respect
- 4:56you all that other stuff and it becomes
- 4:58a whole lot easier to just let it
- 5:01out and just be like y'all are a
- 5:03pack of idiots i don't know if y'all
- 5:05know this or not but i know i
- 5:09know how it feels
- 5:12So most of my career,
- 5:13I had different titles,
- 5:15but essentially I was the fixer.
- 5:17The unit that was in trouble,
- 5:18I got put over to come in and
- 5:22fix it up.
- 5:23And then I would get everybody pissed at
- 5:25me because I actually like set
- 5:27expectations and all of these types of
- 5:29things, right?
- 5:30And then I would get tons of grievances
- 5:32filed against me.
- 5:34And then my employer stopped backing me in
- 5:37those,
- 5:37even though they wanted me to come in
- 5:38and fix it.
- 5:39Then they don't back me when the people
- 5:42file grievances against me.
- 5:43Right.
- 5:45So then I just quit.
- 5:46I just quit.
- 5:47Like I don't give a shit anymore.
- 5:50I tell my mom every day,
- 5:51like that's some,
- 5:53that is somebody else's circus and they're
- 5:55monkeys.
- 5:56I don't need to deal with it.
- 5:57I don't care.
- 5:59Correct.
- 5:59And that's where I've gotten to in life.
- 6:02and but yesterday i just couldn't take it
- 6:04anymore i just could not take it it
- 6:08happens brother man it absolutely happened
- 6:11you just sit back and for you can
- 6:13only take it for so long like the
- 6:16level of incompetence or stupidity
- 6:19whatever you want to call it before you
- 6:21finally like okay i've had enough uh
- 6:24interesting that's where i'm at i'm happy
- 6:26collecting the check amen brother amen
- 6:32Before we dive into the CrossFit game
- 6:34stuff, which we have a lot of today,
- 6:37because the season's kicking off, dude.
- 6:40Like things are happening for the twenty
- 6:42twenty six season.
- 6:44We have officially flipped the page to the
- 6:47new season.
- 6:50Perfect demonstration.
- 6:51Thank you.
- 6:52It's your official page flip.
- 6:53Look, I'm here to help.
- 6:54Yeah.
- 7:03So I stayed up for that game last
- 7:04night.
- 7:06Oh, good on you.
- 7:06I did not.
- 7:09Four lead changes in the fourth quarter.
- 7:13Phenomenal game.
- 7:15Yeah, by all accounts,
- 7:16I've heard it was an awesome game to
- 7:18watch.
- 7:19So sad that it came down to a
- 7:24ref's call.
- 7:28You are preaching to the choir right now.
- 7:31Saints fan.
- 7:32Don't ever forget.
- 7:34So like there's this hard fought battle
- 7:37back and forth.
- 7:37Tons of lead changes.
- 7:40Kids are, I mean,
- 7:41Miami was dropping like flies in the
- 7:44fourth quarter on defense and the
- 7:47comebacks both ways.
- 7:49And then for it to end on a
- 7:51ref's call.
- 7:52And we bitch about this all the time
- 7:54in CrossFit.
- 7:55That is not, we don't own bad judging,
- 7:58bad reffing, bad whatever, right?
- 8:01It is everywhere.
- 8:03Everywhere.
- 8:04And, you know,
- 8:07the guy on the broadcast was like,
- 8:09the former ref was like, well,
- 8:10there was mutual combat.
- 8:12So we didn't blow the whistle.
- 8:15You will look at that play.
- 8:16The guy was not in a scrum for
- 8:18a Hail Mary.
- 8:19It was a one-on-one situation.
- 8:21He gets grabbed by the shoulder pad and
- 8:23pulled to the ground.
- 8:26That is pass interference.
- 8:29Every time.
- 8:30Or if you're on the streets of New
- 8:32York, that would be a mugging.
- 8:36Whichever way you want to look at it.
- 8:40Both ways.
- 8:42It's ridiculous.
- 8:44So while it started off with a bang
- 8:47and what a great game to watch,
- 8:49I just hate that it came down to
- 8:50that.
- 8:51And that wouldn't have won the game for
- 8:53Ole Miss.
- 8:53It just would have given them one more
- 8:54shot untimed down, right, from the twenty.
- 8:59Still a low percentage play for them.
- 9:01They may not have done it,
- 9:02but they should have been given the
- 9:04opportunity to try.
- 9:08When that gets taken away,
- 9:09that stings a lot more when you have
- 9:12an actual, like,
- 9:14I just want one more shot.
- 9:16And I deserve one more shot, right,
- 9:19because of the way the game's been going
- 9:20back and forth.
- 9:21That's a tough one to swallow, for sure.
- 9:25Yeah.
- 9:29So let's dive into some CrossFit news.
- 9:32First thing I have on the docket,
- 9:34and some of the things that are happening
- 9:35in the chat, I've got on my list.
- 9:37So just be patient with me.
- 9:40So first thing is, friend of the show,
- 9:43Bethany Flores had her baby yesterday.
- 9:46Congratulations to her and Randy.
- 9:50They had a baby boy named Baker Lee
- 9:51Flores.
- 9:53Awesome.
- 9:54I want to ask you,
- 9:55why do we always give the weight and
- 9:58the length of the baby?
- 10:01why why are we giving up the baby
- 10:03stats we're going to do that when you're
- 10:06when you're putting in the program of a
- 10:08football player right because that's
- 10:10matter but when you're a newborn baby what
- 10:14does it matter that they're under twenty
- 10:15inches or over twenty inches long or under
- 10:19eight pounds or over eight pounds like is
- 10:21there a newborn baby combine that we don't
- 10:24know about
- 10:28But for those of you that care, uh,
- 10:30seven pounds, ten ounces,
- 10:32nineteen and a half inches long.
- 10:37Still don't know what it signifies,
- 10:38what it means, but.
- 10:43Uh, yeah,
- 10:44my wife would tell you those numbers only
- 10:46matter if it's over ten pounds.
- 10:47I would agree.
- 10:49Yeah.
- 10:52Uh.
- 10:54Bill Cosby once did a joke,
- 10:56and I hate that you can't even really
- 10:58quote Bill Cosby anymore because of all
- 11:00the stuff he did,
- 11:02but it's like pushing a watermelon through
- 11:04a garden hose.
- 11:10Mm-hmm.
- 11:10Yeah.
- 11:10Shana, with the average baby size,
- 11:14Meredith,
- 11:15it matters if they're huge or they're
- 11:16super small.
- 11:19Like,
- 11:20if it comes out that they're in the
- 11:22NICU...
- 11:23Because they were like super premature or
- 11:25whatnot.
- 11:26And you want to talk about it then?
- 11:27Absolutely.
- 11:28Yes.
- 11:29Because it's medically relevant at that
- 11:31point.
- 11:32Correct.
- 11:33If we just had a normal,
- 11:34healthy baby boy,
- 11:35then why do we insist on doing that?
- 11:38It's the same.
- 11:40That falls along the same lines of me
- 11:41with, well, he's thirteen months old.
- 11:45No, he's not.
- 11:47He's a year old.
- 11:51Like I'm not,
- 11:51I'm forty eight fixing to be forty nine.
- 11:54At what point do you stop counting?
- 11:56Like I could do that math right quick.
- 11:57Like tell me how many months old I
- 11:59am.
- 12:00But nobody does that.
- 12:01Why?
- 12:01Because that would be batshit crazy.
- 12:05Mark Phillips,
- 12:05the percentiles on every pediatric visit
- 12:08is the same.
- 12:09Your kid's sixty seven percentile height,
- 12:11eighty percent weight.
- 12:12OK, he's five.
- 12:13This stuff changes.
- 12:15Yeah,
- 12:15I got told when my daughter like she
- 12:18was in like the ninety eighth percentile
- 12:19for height.
- 12:20She's going to be over six feet tall.
- 12:21No, she's not.
- 12:22Right.
- 12:24No, no.
- 12:25She's she's a nice, healthy five eight.
- 12:27But, you know.
- 12:28Thanks, Joseph.
- 12:34Meredith, thank you.
- 12:35Yep.
- 12:35Medically relevant.
- 12:36Good way to put it.
- 12:37If it's medically relevant,
- 12:39then you need to know.
- 12:41Correct.
- 12:42But if not, it doesn't really matter.
- 12:45Yeah.
- 12:45Joseph,
- 12:45you're five hundred and seventy nine
- 12:47months old, not counting leap years.
- 12:49I'm going to start referring to myself as
- 12:51that.
- 12:52That should that ought to be how the
- 12:54age groups work on the for the open.
- 12:58Meredith, math is hard.
- 13:01I don't want to start doing math when
- 13:02someone tells me their kid is twenty seven
- 13:04months old to your kid is two.
- 13:07I don't.
- 13:08If I hear that, if somebody's like, oh,
- 13:10they're twenty eight months old.
- 13:11No, they're not.
- 13:13They're two.
- 13:15They're two.
- 13:15Please stop saying that.
- 13:17Good.
- 13:19Yes.
- 13:22it reminds me of grown-ups and kevin james
- 13:25the kevin james character in grown-ups and
- 13:28their kids like five and they say it
- 13:30in months no you get like a calculator
- 13:37out yes jesus christ
- 13:40He's sixty five months old.
- 13:42Sixty five months old.
- 13:44No, he's not.
- 13:44He's five.
- 13:46Jesus Christ.
- 13:46He can tell you how old he is,
- 13:48especially on that one.
- 13:49If the kid can tell you how old
- 13:50they are,
- 13:51please stop referring to it in months.
- 13:53Yeah.
- 13:54Shannon, head size matters.
- 13:56We would check into that if the head
- 13:58was too small or too large.
- 13:59We base head size numbers also on size
- 14:01and height and weight.
- 14:03So if weight.
- 14:05Weight, twenty five, height,
- 14:06twenty five and head ninety nine,
- 14:08it may be a problem.
- 14:10I understand why the doctor would want to
- 14:12know those numbers.
- 14:14Yeah, like I get all that.
- 14:16Like you probably are checking everything
- 14:19out.
- 14:20But to publicly say, hey,
- 14:22had a baby girl today, six pounds,
- 14:24ten ounces, and eighteen inches long.
- 14:27And she's got a watermelon head.
- 14:29It was ginormous.
- 14:30Like we had to, it's phenomenal.
- 14:33I didn't go to med school.
- 14:35I leave that to Shanna to figure out.
- 14:37Correct.
- 14:38That's medically relevant, again.
- 14:40Right.
- 14:40For her, not me.
- 14:41No, not at all.
- 14:42Not some dude that lives down the street
- 14:45and is just hearing about the
- 14:46announcement.
- 14:47Yeah,
- 14:47so here's a shocking report for all you
- 14:51mothers out there who may be watching the
- 14:53show or are soon to be mothers,
- 14:54is that when you want to make an
- 14:56announcement like that,
- 14:57everybody on Instagram only cares that
- 15:00your baby is healthy.
- 15:01Yeah.
- 15:03That's it.
- 15:05That's it.
- 15:06Oh, again,
- 15:07unless she's comic book size and it's like
- 15:10this big and she's in the NICU and
- 15:11there's a problem.
- 15:13Right.
- 15:13You say, had a baby, preemie, two pounds,
- 15:16one ounce.
- 15:17You're like, damn, prayer's going up.
- 15:20Prayer's going up.
- 15:21A hundred percent.
- 15:22Right.
- 15:22But nobody's saying, oh, yeah, no,
- 15:27the baby was eight pounds,
- 15:29six ounces and twenty-two inches long or
- 15:31whatnot.
- 15:32Oh, prayer's going up.
- 15:33you're gonna have to feed him at some
- 15:35point and that sounds like he's gonna be
- 15:37hungry that's insane moving right along
- 15:40yeah that being said all four of my
- 15:42kids have ninety-fifth percentile heads
- 15:47you should get that crocheted onto a a
- 15:49doily to hang on the wall four separate
- 15:56ones
- 15:57Oh, having said that,
- 15:59congratulations to the Floreses on the
- 16:02arrival of their new baby.
- 16:06Yeah.
- 16:06All right.
- 16:08Next thing up.
- 16:10This one's a simple one.
- 16:11So we'll go this one next.
- 16:13Mayhem sent out their invites for the
- 16:17Mayhem Classic.
- 16:19And it is so small.
- 16:21I love when people use small font on
- 16:23Instagram.
- 16:24It's the best thing ever.
- 16:27So here are the women invitees to the
- 16:29Mayhem Classic.
- 16:31Laura Horvath, Danielle Brandon,
- 16:32Ariel Loewen, Tia Claire Toomey-Orr,
- 16:36Alex Kazan, Gabriella Magawa, Emma Lawson,
- 16:40Alexis Raptus, Maddie Sturt, Emily Rolfe,
- 16:42Lucy Campbell, Olivia Kerstetter,
- 16:44Emma Tall, Danny Spiegel, and Amy Kringle.
- 16:48These names may look familiar because if
- 16:51you watch the Mayhem podcast,
- 16:52they use the Rogue leaderboard.
- 16:55So it should look like the lineup of
- 16:57Rogue.
- 16:59Now.
- 17:02One,
- 17:03do we know if Laura's doing the CrossFit
- 17:04game season?
- 17:05We don't.
- 17:07So they can decline these.
- 17:09They said this is round one of the
- 17:11release.
- 17:13You also have Tia Claire Toomey,
- 17:14or who is pregnant.
- 17:16She's probably going to decline this.
- 17:18I would assume.
- 17:22But everybody else,
- 17:24you could see that if they're doing the
- 17:25game season.
- 17:26So it'll be like the first indication.
- 17:29On the men's side, you have Jeffrey Adler,
- 17:32Ricky Garrard, Justin Medeiros,
- 17:34Roman Krennikoff, Jason Hopper,
- 17:36Jay Crouch, Patrick Vellner,
- 17:38Dallin Pepper, James Sprague, Yona Koski,
- 17:40Austin Hatfield, BKG, Sam Quant,
- 17:43Chandler Smith, Colton Mertens.
- 17:45Again,
- 17:46Chandler Smith I don't think is doing the
- 17:47CrossFit Games season.
- 17:49Samuel Quant is coming back from a severe
- 17:52Achilles tear.
- 17:53Probably not going to be available for
- 17:55this one.
- 17:56But again, it's round one.
- 17:57Wherever they get to the declines,
- 17:59they'll add to a list of second round
- 18:02invitees.
- 18:04Patty V may or may not be.
- 18:06When is the classic?
- 18:11It is the first semifinal.
- 18:12It's like the very first weekend in April.
- 18:15April.
- 18:16very first weekend in April.
- 18:17So depending on, uh,
- 18:20Vellner's recovery status,
- 18:21he may or may not, uh,
- 18:24jump in as well.
- 18:25Right.
- 18:26And if you, Oh, shoot.
- 18:30Something there.
- 18:31There you go.
- 18:34Let's get back.
- 18:35Um, this is round one of the invites.
- 18:38It is sent and must be accepted by
- 18:40Saturday one, uh, at twelve p.m.
- 18:46Laughing at Hiller's comment.
- 18:49So it's mid-April.
- 18:52April seventeenth.
- 18:53Thank you.
- 18:54April seventeenth through nineteenth.
- 18:56It's a great day to have it.
- 18:57Just throwing that out there.
- 18:59Because April seventeenth is the Cowboys
- 19:01birthday.
- 19:03Correct.
- 19:05Celebrate my birthday by going to the
- 19:07Mayhem Classic and competing.
- 19:10So a lot of the talk in the
- 19:12chat has been that now these invites have
- 19:15gone out to these athletes and we haven't
- 19:17even had the open yet.
- 19:19Is it too early for this?
- 19:22Yes.
- 19:26Bottom line, dude,
- 19:28you can't even sign up for the open
- 19:30yet.
- 19:32Right.
- 19:33Much less it has much less has it
- 19:35started.
- 19:36You can't even sign up until what next
- 19:38week.
- 19:39Yeah.
- 19:40It's like five days.
- 19:42I think it's like next Wednesday,
- 19:44if I'm not mistaken.
- 19:45Bring up, or here, I'll get it.
- 19:48I actually have.
- 19:49That one.
- 19:52So, Tristan, right here, hot take.
- 19:54If you did not do the game season,
- 19:56you should not get an automatic invite to
- 19:58a semifinal.
- 20:02I mean, we hammered that hard last season.
- 20:06I hated that.
- 20:07I hated that Elisa Fuliano won or podiumed
- 20:11in two events and just messed up the
- 20:13leaderboard for those trying to get to the
- 20:14games.
- 20:15I think there should be a clear separation
- 20:17of game season and other events.
- 20:22Big time.
- 20:24If all your other invites are out,
- 20:27people who are actually trying to get to
- 20:29the games and you literally can't get
- 20:30anybody else to go,
- 20:31then that might be one thing.
- 20:33That's a highly unlikely scenario, FYI,
- 20:36because the list of people trying to make
- 20:38the games is very, very,
- 20:40very long at the elite level, right?
- 20:44Or the semi-elite level,
- 20:45whatever you want to call it.
- 20:47But the people that are going to be
- 20:48affecting that kind of stuff by being
- 20:51there who are not actually participating
- 20:53in the game season is fantastic.
- 20:56It's mind-boggling, right?
- 20:58So, no, I'll – one hundred percent,
- 21:00Tristan, absolutely.
- 21:02If you didn't do the game season,
- 21:04why are you even going?
- 21:07Jenny says they should have at least –
- 21:09they should at least have to do the
- 21:11Open.
- 21:12But people –
- 21:14I think they have to finish in the
- 21:15top two thousand.
- 21:17You have to be eligible to make the
- 21:19games.
- 21:20If not,
- 21:20you shouldn't be competing with people
- 21:22trying to get to the games because you
- 21:24can affect the leaderboard in ways that
- 21:27you wouldn't even predict at this point,
- 21:29right?
- 21:30Just winning one event throws off the
- 21:33scoring enough that it could affect who
- 21:36makes it and who doesn't make it to
- 21:38the games.
- 21:39People who are not eligible to go to
- 21:41the game should not be
- 21:43affecting the leaderboard for those who
- 21:45are.
- 21:47And here's the thing.
- 21:47With those invites that are going out,
- 21:49Tia Clare is a perfect example.
- 21:51She's pregnant.
- 21:53Ninety-nine percent chance she's not
- 21:54going.
- 21:55So that's already a spot,
- 21:56and you're not backfilling at this point.
- 22:00Right?
- 22:00So, yeah, the invites went out.
- 22:03Ninety-nine percent chance she's going to
- 22:05say no.
- 22:06Mr. Smith is another example.
- 22:10Ninety-nine percent chance he's probably
- 22:12not doing it.
- 22:14So now you're already – you set those
- 22:15invites out for what?
- 22:18I understand.
- 22:20Brings up a great example.
- 22:21Gee's score at Mayhem last year could have
- 22:22affected people trying to go to the games,
- 22:24and it probably did.
- 22:26A hundred percent.
- 22:28I mean,
- 22:28this is a project maybe we can put
- 22:30Holly on where you pull like Gee's score
- 22:33and see if it changes who got the
- 22:35invite.
- 22:36Yeah, we should do that.
- 22:40It's just math.
- 22:42I'm willing to bet Holly Holly can
- 22:43probably do that if she hasn't already.
- 22:52And so on top of that,
- 22:54go ahead and read that one.
- 22:54Yeah.
- 22:55David Reed, everyone,
- 22:56every athlete who skipped last year should
- 22:58be on the back of the line for
- 22:59the invites.
- 23:00I disagree with that.
- 23:02I disagree with that.
- 23:03I will say this, though.
- 23:05Can we wait to send them out until
- 23:07after we see who's actually signed up for
- 23:08the open come next week?
- 23:13Yeah.
- 23:13The reason I is Emma Lawson says she
- 23:17hurt her back.
- 23:17Yeah.
- 23:19Right.
- 23:20But we don't know that that's a fact.
- 23:22So now you're now it's left to your
- 23:24discretion to determine,
- 23:26did they tell us the truth on the
- 23:28why or not?
- 23:29And that,
- 23:30that gets kind of into this gray area
- 23:33of who do the season because of injury,
- 23:35who didn't do the season because they were
- 23:38protesting something.
- 23:39We don't know that for a fact.
- 23:42There's people like Gabby who were
- 23:43legitimately rehabbing.
- 23:48I didn't use that as an example because
- 23:50we all saw the injury.
- 23:51We know what she went through.
- 23:53Emma Lawson,
- 23:54we don't know that for a fact.
- 23:56She just said, hey,
- 23:57I'm sitting out the game season and
- 23:59focusing on WFP because my back is hurt.
- 24:01Correct.
- 24:03I'm not calling her a liar.
- 24:04I'm just saying we didn't see the back
- 24:06injury.
- 24:07You can't see the back injury, right?
- 24:19Mark Phillips,
- 24:20I'm a game for a January open in
- 24:22twenty seven.
- 24:23I kind of like the open where it
- 24:24is.
- 24:26I just think that the signup should be
- 24:27January one.
- 24:31Yeah.
- 24:34We should have a rule book on the
- 24:36same day that at the very least on
- 24:38the same day that open signups are
- 24:40available.
- 24:42That should all be coincided.
- 24:43I'm going to have it before.
- 24:44That's fine.
- 24:45But if you're going to have it before,
- 24:46let's have the rule book.
- 24:47And then next week, hey,
- 24:48read the rule book.
- 24:49And then you got a week to decide
- 24:51because we're opening signups for the open
- 24:54a week later.
- 24:55Something along those lines,
- 24:56because that way you can read it and
- 24:57go, oh, yeah, I'm not doing that.
- 24:59Not doing that.
- 24:59Not doing that.
- 25:00OK, whatever.
- 25:00Moving on.
- 25:01I'm not signing up for the open because
- 25:03now you have a rule book to look
- 25:04at and kind of decide.
- 25:08uh andrew stan it um he says does
- 25:11the crossfit rulebook say you have to do
- 25:14the open to do a semi it does
- 25:16not but it does say you cannot qualify
- 25:18for the games unless you finish in the
- 25:21top two thousand yeah of the open where
- 25:29is you see what uh
- 25:34what Lita was talking about I didn't I
- 25:37got it I had it is it the
- 25:44French though that one yeah it's really
- 25:49annoying there's only ten women at the
- 25:51French throwdown in my age group and five
- 25:53of those spots are open to anyone through
- 25:55the qualifiers as if it wasn't hard enough
- 25:57to get us into a semi
- 26:00So what she was talking about is that
- 26:02for us, masters athletes,
- 26:03and I know you and I have had
- 26:04this conversation before,
- 26:05like what I'm trying to do is like,
- 26:08it's what she's trying to do as well
- 26:09is finish quarterfinals high enough.
- 26:13Well,
- 26:14the French throwdown qualifiers are going
- 26:15to be open to any masters athlete and
- 26:18you can get us,
- 26:19you can get an invite just by doing
- 26:20the qualifiers.
- 26:21Well,
- 26:21that just takes away spots from people
- 26:23who,
- 26:25are trying to qualify the opposite way
- 26:28because there's a qualifier for it,
- 26:29or you can get an invite through the
- 26:31open or through the two quarterfinals or
- 26:34whatnot.
- 26:34I just,
- 26:35I hate going down both paths of the
- 26:37elite and the masters at the same time,
- 26:39because it is, it is different.
- 26:42And then we get confusion as to what
- 26:44the rules are for each one.
- 26:47So I'd rather talk about that separately
- 26:49than from the elite and
- 26:52the elite games because with,
- 26:56with a different thing.
- 26:57Right.
- 26:59And so we,
- 27:00we talked about how CrossFit hasn't talked
- 27:02about the open much, but they,
- 27:03they have started finally.
- 27:08Like they're, they are making posts.
- 27:11When you realize the twenty twenty six
- 27:13CrossFit open registration begins in eight
- 27:15days.
- 27:17They are doing some.
- 27:19some promotion of that uh there is the
- 27:22open is coming there are this is what
- 27:29the open is about the only thing i
- 27:32would say is like this video showing the
- 27:34community okay i i've been around a long
- 27:38time i've seen these videos there are no
- 27:40details in the in the description as to
- 27:45how you sign up for the open what
- 27:47the open it like
- 27:51Yeah.
- 27:52Seven days away.
- 27:53Okay.
- 27:53What, how do I, what does that mean?
- 27:56How do I sign up?
- 27:57What do I,
- 27:59it's like they keep leaving out the action
- 28:01item.
- 28:03Yeah.
- 28:05That's a,
- 28:05that's a bananas type deal right there.
- 28:09So it really, really is not, not, Hey,
- 28:12like, I mean,
- 28:16this guy doing like a couple of reps,
- 28:19uh,
- 28:20where people don't really understand
- 28:21what's going on and then some high fives
- 28:23or putting a compilation of like
- 28:26celebrations with the community and an
- 28:29athlete.
- 28:29I don't know.
- 28:34Take a cue from any one of these
- 28:36content creators that are out there that
- 28:39are people who are trying to sell people's
- 28:40stuff that they'll make a post like that.
- 28:43Hey, this starts in blah, blah,
- 28:45blah amount of days.
- 28:46Link to sign up is in my bio.
- 28:50Yeah.
- 28:52Here's one with the open is five days
- 28:53away to register.
- 28:55Sign up at games dot CrossFit dot com.
- 28:58OK, now we're moving somewhere.
- 29:01Now we're starting to cook with guests.
- 29:02Now I know where to go.
- 29:05Hey,
- 29:06maybe when they post that onto their
- 29:09story.
- 29:11They can also put a link to it
- 29:13on their story.
- 29:14I know how to do that.
- 29:15And I am not super good at social
- 29:17media.
- 29:19These are their posts.
- 29:20And I will say Instagram is horrible about
- 29:23letting you put links on posts.
- 29:26It only really is,
- 29:27is easy on a story or in your
- 29:29bio.
- 29:32But yeah.
- 29:35anyway they are working at it getting a
- 29:37little bit better about promoting the open
- 29:40um they're putting out all the semi-final
- 29:42events um and their information here's
- 29:45norcal's qualifier here's mayhem's invites
- 29:50um french throwdown stuff is on here i
- 29:53think this is french um yeah french
- 29:55throwdown we we
- 30:01so they are they are starting to like
- 30:04promote it a little bit on the social
- 30:06media front so let me ask you that
- 30:10as far as so like mayhem's doing their
- 30:13thing right now norcal qualifiers or now
- 30:16live etc right there's a whole lot of
- 30:19stuff going on is are we going to
- 30:22have another
- 30:24season like we did last year and like
- 30:26we did i think it was when they
- 30:27first did the uh the sanctional events
- 30:31where people are going to qualify and are
- 30:33not real sure exactly how they got there
- 30:35just because of the order that it's being
- 30:37done in all i can think of is
- 30:40is the one of the the documentaries
- 30:45watching pat they asked pat velner how he
- 30:47qualified for the games and he wasn't
- 30:50exactly real sure
- 30:53Yeah,
- 30:53I think nineteen was the was the extreme
- 30:57level of not realizing how you qualified.
- 31:00I think here you're gonna eat.
- 31:03I think you're gonna have to pick your
- 31:04spots and
- 31:08And because they take whatever the first
- 31:10qualification is and then you're done,
- 31:13I think the only time we're going to
- 31:14run into that is like at NorCal or
- 31:18some of those later events.
- 31:22And my guess is only if the prize
- 31:26money is really good are people going to
- 31:27continue on and do it again.
- 31:30I think once you qualify,
- 31:32if I'm a big athlete,
- 31:33I'm going to be done with my semifinal
- 31:35season the minute I qualify.
- 31:40um so it may get confusing at times
- 31:44i think we're in the most confusing part
- 31:46now because all these third-party events
- 31:49are allowed to do their qualification
- 31:52process however they want which is
- 31:59I understand they're trying to get it done
- 32:00early.
- 32:01Like the people, you know, like,
- 32:02like NorCal is trying to get in or
- 32:05get their qualified done early and may him
- 32:06sending out stuff early, you know,
- 32:09et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
- 32:09But like the other people who aren't.
- 32:14Yeah.
- 32:15And even with NorCal,
- 32:17like I listened to Ben and Blair this
- 32:18morning.
- 32:19So there are multiple ways you can just
- 32:22get to NorCal.
- 32:23It's through the qualifier.
- 32:25It could be just a wild card invite.
- 32:27It could be that you won Crash or
- 32:30you won their event last year.
- 32:33So there are three different ways already
- 32:35on how to get to NorCal.
- 32:38Alone, just NorCal.
- 32:40Just NorCal.
- 32:43I missed that part this morning.
- 32:45We're allowing these people to do their
- 32:49events however they wish.
- 32:52It's making it confusing.
- 32:54Mayhem's using the Rogue leaderboard.
- 32:58Delmar is using, or I mean,
- 33:00Magic City is using the quarterfinal
- 33:02leaderboard.
- 33:05Like,
- 33:06it's just all over the map trying to
- 33:08figure out where the qualifications are.
- 33:11Del Mar is using the quarterfinal
- 33:13leaderboard plus some invites that they
- 33:19have set aside.
- 33:20For Masters, anyway.
- 33:21I don't know how they're doing for elites.
- 33:26It's a lot of shit going on, dude.
- 33:28It is.
- 33:29It's a whole lot of stuff going on.
- 33:33I guess it keeps us busy because we
- 33:35try to learn it all and try to
- 33:36explain it all.
- 33:38And try to make sense of it all.
- 33:41But it's hard for me to like gear
- 33:46up.
- 33:46Here's the other thing.
- 33:48Oh, absolutely.
- 33:48Here's the other thing.
- 33:49Like how many people are going to get
- 33:52invites?
- 33:53So there are NorCal qualifiers right now,
- 33:56right?
- 33:56So people who are going to do multiple
- 33:58qualifiers are going to get an invite,
- 34:01possibly qualify.
- 34:02And then are you going to be de-invited
- 34:04then?
- 34:04Yeah.
- 34:05if you qualify before you have a chance
- 34:08to qualify at the one you were going
- 34:09to?
- 34:12Is that making sense?
- 34:14No.
- 34:15So Colton, perfect example.
- 34:19Colton's going to do as many of these
- 34:21things as he can, right?
- 34:22That's what he did last year.
- 34:24He's here, he's there, he's everywhere,
- 34:25he's making money, he enjoys competing.
- 34:29If he qualifies,
- 34:30so he's got an invite to mayhem.
- 34:33If he qualifies for mayhem,
- 34:34he's probably doing the NorCal qualifiers
- 34:37and he gets an invite to NorCal.
- 34:39And then he qualifies that mayhem because
- 34:41that's before NorCal.
- 34:42Now,
- 34:42as he gets disinvited to NorCal and
- 34:44somebody else takes his, takes his spot.
- 34:45I don't think he gets disinvited from
- 34:47NorCal because NorCal isn't playing that
- 34:49by that rule.
- 34:50The only semi-final I know that plays by
- 34:53that rule is syndicate crown.
- 34:55Gotcha.
- 34:57Syndicate crown is if you've already
- 34:58qualified, you are not.
- 35:00Good on Wilson.
- 35:02Good on Wilson for that.
- 35:03That's how it should be.
- 35:06That is how it should be.
- 35:09So, uh,
- 35:10CrossFit says we need to whiteboard this
- 35:12out.
- 35:14I got to understand it better before I
- 35:16start whiteboarding.
- 35:17Put pins and red paint, red yarn.
- 35:21And yeah.
- 35:26Um,
- 35:31Mark Phillips most masters are taking
- 35:33leaderboard plus if you email that you're
- 35:37local and interested or something like
- 35:39that.
- 35:41I don't know what he means by if
- 35:42you email that you're local and
- 35:43interesting.
- 35:45Yeah.
- 35:49And the other thing that came out is
- 35:51nor cows workouts.
- 35:54don't have to go through them individually
- 35:56we'll probably do that sunday night um but
- 36:00they are all out on the norcal instagram
- 36:02page so these are the qualifiers um here's
- 36:07wad six here's wad five
- 36:17Here's WOD three.
- 36:17I'll blow this up a little bit.
- 36:19No, I can't fast forward it.
- 36:21Shoot.
- 36:24I screwed myself.
- 36:25There we go.
- 36:26There is WOD two.
- 36:29That one looks fun.
- 36:33And WOD one.
- 36:36This one looks fun to me, but man,
- 36:39I, you know,
- 36:40those purpose in the middle are going to
- 36:41suck.
- 36:43Yeah.
- 36:45Ooh.
- 36:47So, yeah, where was Bushwhacker?
- 36:50I love Bushwhacker.
- 36:53I don't even care what the movements are.
- 36:56But the fact that, like,
- 36:57it just takes me back to my wrestling
- 36:59fandom days of the Bushwhackers walking
- 37:03into the arena.
- 37:08But I do kind of like that that
- 37:11dumbbell movement, like,
- 37:12does mute the hips because you're holding
- 37:15the dumbbell in your other hand.
- 37:18And one,
- 37:18you can't rest your hand on any part
- 37:20of your body because you have to hold
- 37:21the other dumbbell.
- 37:23Two,
- 37:24you've got to pop that up and you
- 37:25can't really thrust it with the hips
- 37:28because the other dumbbell kind of stops
- 37:30that from happening.
- 37:32It's an interesting movement.
- 37:33And that's one thing you have to give
- 37:35Ben and Blair is they are very creative
- 37:37with some of the movements they look into.
- 37:40It ain't never boring.
- 37:43They ain't never born.
- 37:45I don't think any of the stuff they've
- 37:47done that I've seen anyway,
- 37:48you look at it and go, oh,
- 37:50that's just going to be miserable,
- 37:52boring type shit.
- 37:53Like, no, not at all.
- 37:57What I thought was really interesting with
- 37:59them is they put out what the fitness.
- 38:04It was a little online competition where
- 38:06they would put out workouts.
- 38:07And if you won,
- 38:08you would win a thousand dollars.
- 38:11but it was their way of testing new
- 38:13movements and to see how they played out
- 38:16in a competition.
- 38:18It's WTF,
- 38:20but they call it what the fitness.
- 38:22And I didn't even know this.
- 38:23And she's one of my co-hosts,
- 38:24Carolyn Prevo won one of those.
- 38:27That's unsurprising.
- 38:28Uh, Emily Rolfe won one.
- 38:31Um,
- 38:32And so it's crazy.
- 38:35One,
- 38:35it's a crazy cool idea and way to
- 38:37test out events and to leak out clues
- 38:41for people who may be doing NorCal who
- 38:43want to say, oh,
- 38:44now I have something to look at.
- 38:46What crazy thing could be coming?
- 38:49Yeah.
- 38:52That's actually very,
- 38:53very clever of them to be able to
- 38:55get a way to get high-level athletes to
- 38:57test out their stuff without telling them
- 38:59that they're actually testing out their
- 39:00stuff.
- 39:03That's slick.
- 39:05Tristan, man, he's on fire today.
- 39:08Someone must have put some steroids in his
- 39:11Wheaties.
- 39:12I have a question from a coaching
- 39:14perspective because the Bushwhacker forces
- 39:16a muted hip.
- 39:17Isn't that not really what most CrossFit
- 39:20movements go for?
- 39:22Core to extremity and all?
- 39:23Just a thought.
- 39:26It's almost an isometric, like,
- 39:28not isometric,
- 39:28but like an isolation type deal because...
- 39:32You can't really... Okay,
- 39:33but you've taken your L-I, right?
- 39:36Oh, yeah.
- 39:37Are there any restrictions to the
- 39:38movement?
- 39:40Oh, no, not at all.
- 39:41I think what he's saying is that... So,
- 39:44and it's... Again, this is not a class.
- 39:47This is a competition,
- 39:49which is a big defining line there.
- 39:52That's two different things as far as
- 39:53that's concerned.
- 39:53So...
- 39:55yes i would say technically if you were
- 39:58dude you wouldn't program it for a class
- 40:00by any stretch of the imagination right
- 40:03but it's probably going to be fun it's
- 40:05going to fun fun to see how people
- 40:07end up working it to try to make
- 40:09it started it as a class workout really
- 40:13i missed that part this morning yeah jesus
- 40:16christ well yeah because you got to test
- 40:17it some sort of way are we like
- 40:21I don't think in my world of CrossFit
- 40:25that we should restrict a movement.
- 40:29It's supposed to be the unknown and the
- 40:31unknowable and preparing for all of that
- 40:33stuff.
- 40:35In life,
- 40:36is there going to be a time where
- 40:37you may have to hold on to something
- 40:38and lift something else above your head?
- 40:41There could be, right?
- 40:42Sure.
- 40:43Why shouldn't we prepare for that?
- 40:44Isn't that what CrossFit is truly about?
- 40:49It is a functional movement.
- 40:53Well,
- 40:53much more so than some of the other
- 40:55stuff that I have done in a class
- 40:57setting or seen done in a class setting.
- 40:59Yeah, I would say so.
- 41:01I think that was the most interesting,
- 41:02interesting part of the interview that
- 41:04Savant did with,
- 41:06with Ben and Blair is they are trying
- 41:08to maintain the OG CrossFit mentalities
- 41:14where it's anything can pop up, right?
- 41:19When I first started CrossFit,
- 41:20we were launching med balls over our head
- 41:23to thrust the hip.
- 41:25We don't do that anymore in a gym.
- 41:28We don't do tire flips like we used
- 41:32to.
- 41:33We don't do a lot of the things.
- 41:35We did sledgehammers on tires.
- 41:40None of that stuff ever happens anymore.
- 41:43It's like we've put rules around this
- 41:46thing that never had rules.
- 41:50Our old tires are behind the building,
- 41:54but the four or five sledgehammers that we
- 41:56have are still on the weightlifting side,
- 41:59just tucked up against the wall.
- 42:00Somebody uses them if they need a hammer.
- 42:04Fun fact.
- 42:05So I've been doing CrossFit since two
- 42:06thousand and eighteen,
- 42:07and the only time I've actually ever
- 42:09flipped a tire was doing an obstacle
- 42:11course race.
- 42:13In twenty nineteen or so,
- 42:16something like that.
- 42:19Never done it.
- 42:19Still,
- 42:20that's the only time I've ever done it.
- 42:28Yeah.
- 42:31So, yeah,
- 42:33I don't have a problem with it.
- 42:33I think there were a lot of movements
- 42:35that I really enjoyed early on in my
- 42:37CrossFit world that we don't see anymore.
- 42:41And a lot of that was probably because
- 42:42we were such a small gym and we
- 42:43didn't have a lot of equipment that you
- 42:46just,
- 42:46you had to kind of make shit up
- 42:48to, to work different things.
- 42:51Right.
- 42:52Yeah.
- 42:55Um, so yeah.
- 42:56Right.
- 42:57It's evolution.
- 43:04And, and I like that if,
- 43:07if you're signing up for NorCal,
- 43:08you know what you're getting into.
- 43:11Like they are not hiding who they are.
- 43:14No.
- 43:15If you're signing up for NorCal,
- 43:17you do not have any illusions about what's
- 43:19going on.
- 43:20It would take you five minutes on YouTube
- 43:22or Instagram to go back and search their
- 43:24history and be like, oh, okay,
- 43:27we're doing that.
- 43:28Cool.
- 43:29Got it.
- 43:30And then you decide whether or not you
- 43:32want to or not.
- 43:33It's not that easy.
- 43:34Or it's not that hard.
- 43:35Excuse me.
- 43:38Uh, Jody.
- 43:39Yeah.
- 43:39We used to lift stones and do a
- 43:41lot more strong man.
- 43:42When I first joined in.
- 43:42Same.
- 43:43We have stones that we have stones at
- 43:46our place too, that nobody ever uses.
- 43:49Well, I take that back.
- 43:50Some of the guys that do tactical games,
- 43:52stuff to tactical games, training,
- 43:53use them from time to time,
- 43:56putting them over the,
- 43:57the yoke that we have.
- 44:00Uh, tire flips were big in in,
- 44:02but yeah, I don't see them much anymore,
- 44:05but they still pop up in programming.
- 44:08I've never done one in a class setting.
- 44:11At Polaris, we had a pig.
- 44:13We had one of the game's pigs,
- 44:15and it laid on its side,
- 44:16and that's where people sat to rest after
- 44:18a workout.
- 44:19That's what everybody's reverse hyper was
- 44:23for the longest time.
- 44:24We had a reverse hyper that was straight
- 44:27up a table.
- 44:28Yep.
- 44:28That's where everybody put their drinks to
- 44:31grab.
- 44:35Jody says for Corey to pick one up
- 44:36and start a trend.
- 44:39They get used just not maybe once a,
- 44:42maybe once a month or once every other
- 44:44month.
- 44:44I'm not doing tax.
- 44:48I don't need to pick them up.
- 44:49Sean says,
- 44:49what do you guys think of Savant's new
- 44:51CrossFit YouTube channel?
- 44:53Um,
- 44:55I think it's a smart move on his
- 44:56part.
- 44:57I think he,
- 44:58he has two different shows that he was
- 44:59trying to cram into one and he's probably
- 45:03right.
- 45:03The algorithm was.
- 45:06flipping out on where to point viewers to.
- 45:11So I think splitting it off is smart.
- 45:14But yeah, but it's going to be like,
- 45:19the thing that sucks for him is the
- 45:21new CrossFit channel has to go through all
- 45:24of the redos to get monetized,
- 45:27to do all that kind of stuff.
- 45:28So it's a big step back for him
- 45:30to do all that.
- 45:32but they've already met the subscriber
- 45:34quotient for monetization.
- 45:37They just have to get the watch hours
- 45:38in.
- 45:39And I have noticed, too,
- 45:42that it's a tamer discussion group on the
- 45:52CrossFit channel,
- 45:53and they're going to leave the big
- 45:55feelings for the other show or for the
- 45:58other channel.
- 45:59Well, because the other shows,
- 46:01when it's all on one, it was...
- 46:04if he'd have,
- 46:05like yesterday when he had Rich on,
- 46:07if he had Rich on,
- 46:07we'd have Rich on for an hour,
- 46:09hour and a half,
- 46:09whatever the case may be,
- 46:11then they would get off and there would
- 46:12be a little bit of transition time and
- 46:14then it's unhinged rant time.
- 46:16Like everybody knew that,
- 46:17that's not a secret, right?
- 46:19So now he can just do his unhinged
- 46:21rants on the original channel and talk to
- 46:24whoever he wants to talk to,
- 46:26whatever the case is,
- 46:27whether he's doing his political stuff or
- 46:29he's talking to a fighter or whoever,
- 46:31it really doesn't matter at that point.
- 46:33can all be over there and then it
- 46:35was smart like having jenny put her first
- 46:38show on there because that's straight up
- 46:40crossfit no other question about it no
- 46:43nothing and then like uh who do you
- 46:46have on uh nicole christiansen and then
- 46:49rich and then like that's all straight up
- 46:52crossfit so like curating it from the
- 46:55get-go with
- 46:58you know the biggest names as it were
- 47:00and just straight up crossfit content is
- 47:02it's it's it's a lot well and i
- 47:05think move i think you're gonna see his
- 47:08engagement is gonna go way up yeah right
- 47:12um on both channels because people will be
- 47:15tuning in just for that subject type stuff
- 47:18right and so they'll be ready to discuss
- 47:21that so the engagement with it will go
- 47:23way up
- 47:25So I think it was a smart move.
- 47:27I mean, come on,
- 47:28Sousa is a pretty smart guy.
- 47:31He knows what he's doing.
- 47:33Matt Sousa is extremely intelligent,
- 47:35does not get the credit that he deserves,
- 47:37I believe.
- 47:39So, yeah, it was the right move.
- 47:41So back on the equipment.
- 47:44Mike DeVito,
- 47:45sometimes I'll drop into a gym and see
- 47:47this really cool piece of equipment I wish
- 47:49I had,
- 47:49like a pig or a traverse bar,
- 47:51then get gutted when you learn they use
- 47:55it for their coats.
- 47:58That's a fact.
- 47:58So when I was at players, right?
- 48:00Christie got a lot of stuff that from
- 48:04being a games athlete, right?
- 48:06From sponsors, from being at the games,
- 48:08from whatever, right?
- 48:10We had a shipping container outside of the
- 48:12gym that housed all this like weird odd
- 48:17object stuff, right?
- 48:18because it only gets used like in games
- 48:21training yeah so it really sits in that
- 48:23shipping it would sit in that shipping
- 48:24container for like eight nine months of
- 48:27the year and then the three months leading
- 48:29up to the games oh let's crack this
- 48:31baby open let's pull out all the the
- 48:34weird right let's see what's in here most
- 48:39year it was just tucked away in that
- 48:41shipping container absolutely that's fun
- 48:44stuff
- 48:46So except for the pig,
- 48:47I don't think they could get the pig
- 48:49into the shipping container.
- 48:50So it just laid on the floor at
- 48:53the end of the rig.
- 48:54You would need like a team of people
- 48:57to pick it up and try to carry
- 48:58it in.
- 48:59It's probably too long to flip into the
- 49:02shipping container.
- 49:03And then once it's there,
- 49:04it's just wherever you left it.
- 49:07And then getting it back out would
- 49:08probably be a nightmare.
- 49:11I wish I'd run across one.
- 49:12I want to flip one so bad.
- 49:13Like ever since I first saw it,
- 49:14I was like, that looks like fun.
- 49:17Yeah.
- 49:18It's, it's,
- 49:20it's a lot harder than like a tire
- 49:22is.
- 49:22Oh, I bet.
- 49:24It's the length.
- 49:25Like it's getting, and especially like,
- 49:27I don't, I'm not dogging on you, dude,
- 49:29but like I'm five, eleven.
- 49:31You're not.
- 49:34And then get down under it to get
- 49:37the leverage to push it up.
- 49:39It is, it is really hard.
- 49:41And this is,
- 49:41this was a woman's pig and I was
- 49:43struggling.
- 49:45The lever of it is really hard to
- 49:48figure out because a tire,
- 49:50I could do a heavy tire,
- 49:51but I'm only lifting it to my waist
- 49:53and then I can flip it and like
- 49:55flip my hands over and push with the
- 49:58pig.
- 49:58It's hard to get it.
- 49:59You have to get it up higher before
- 50:01you can get under it to then.
- 50:04Right.
- 50:07Yeah.
- 50:09Drag out the alpaca.
- 50:10Yeah.
- 50:11I don't know.
- 50:12I don't think,
- 50:13I don't think she had an alpaca.
- 50:15That would have been cool.
- 50:17Yeah.
- 50:18Yeah.
- 50:18My best friend and I would do sled
- 50:20stuff like every Saturday, like drags,
- 50:23pulls, pushes.
- 50:27I used to do a lot.
- 50:27We used to do a lot more, uh,
- 50:29cause it was actually programmed.
- 50:30Yoke carries me and Bernard day when I
- 50:32was still following cop trains,
- 50:34like extra programming.
- 50:35That's fun, dude.
- 50:36I like that.
- 50:37Just heavy weight up on the shoulder,
- 50:39get it going.
- 50:42Yeah, Jenny, Sousa is the man.
- 50:45He knows his shit.
- 50:46He knows what he's doing.
- 50:49He's highly intelligent,
- 50:50and he comes at stuff from a very
- 50:52common sense perspective.
- 50:54And he's very,
- 50:55very articulate at explaining it.
- 50:59And that's a rare combination of things.
- 51:02You know what I admire most about Sousa
- 51:03is he never has to raise his voice
- 51:07for you to want to hear what he
- 51:08has to say.
- 51:09Yeah.
- 51:11You know,
- 51:11like that's a special kind of smart that
- 51:16when people understand that and you don't
- 51:19have to talk loud for people to hear
- 51:20you.
- 51:22You just start talking and all of a
- 51:23sudden everybody,
- 51:24it's the old EF Hutton commercial, right?
- 51:26Sousa starts talking and everybody shuts
- 51:28up because they want to hear what he
- 51:29has to say.
- 51:32It even happened with Rich yesterday on
- 51:34the show.
- 51:35Like Rich would go to say something,
- 51:36Sousa would go to say something,
- 51:37and Rich would say, oh, oh, no, no.
- 51:38I'm going to let you go.
- 51:43Right.
- 51:44It just shows so much respect for what
- 51:46he has to say.
- 51:48And some of his ideas about the future
- 51:49of CrossFit, I wish he had the money.
- 51:53I just wish he had the money.
- 51:56If somebody bought it,
- 51:57if I had the money to buy it
- 51:59tomorrow...
- 52:01If I won the Powerball over the weekend,
- 52:03got a check in Tuesday,
- 52:05got it in my financial advisor's hands and
- 52:07we could buy CrossFit by Friday,
- 52:11I would be ringing Sousa's phone.
- 52:15Straight up.
- 52:16No question about it.
- 52:19No looking around.
- 52:20They don't want you to find anybody else.
- 52:22He should be running the entire thing
- 52:24because his ideas make sense.
- 52:27one thing that i found fascinating and
- 52:29this is kind of combining other stuff we
- 52:31talked about with susa and that is his
- 52:33like he had ai create a crossfit hq
- 52:37and in that was an outdoor stadium for
- 52:39to hold the games at and you know
- 52:42ben and blair were talking this morning
- 52:44that like the game the games were meant
- 52:45to be outside like the elements are part
- 52:49of like what we're dealing with right
- 52:51Absolutely.
- 52:52And why was the attendance so high in
- 52:54Madison?
- 52:55Because there was an outdoor playground
- 52:57where people could gather around and watch
- 52:59people do the outdoor stuff.
- 53:04A long time ago,
- 53:05John Woolley had done a thing where he
- 53:07said, you know,
- 53:08CrossFit should look at doing stuff at
- 53:11high school football stadiums.
- 53:14And I've thought about that a long time.
- 53:16And I think that that is really the
- 53:17avenue to go.
- 53:18I think it'd be a lot cheaper than
- 53:19trying to find these arenas for the
- 53:23semifinal events.
- 53:24And you do it outdoors at a football
- 53:26stadium.
- 53:27You have the track, you have the field.
- 53:30You can put up the rig on like
- 53:32what would be the sidelines of the
- 53:33football field.
- 53:35Granite Games did that at the Vikings
- 53:37practice facility on the outdoor stadium
- 53:41floor.
- 53:42It can be done.
- 53:42It's been shown to be done.
- 53:44And then you add the element of the
- 53:46track around the outside to do running
- 53:48events.
- 53:51I think it just makes sense economically
- 53:54to be a place to do semifinal events.
- 53:57Much cheaper than renting an arena.
- 53:59Yeah.
- 54:00Yeah.
- 54:01Yeah, could it be hot?
- 54:03There was a day at the Granite Games
- 54:04when I was there where athletes were being
- 54:08carried off the field because it was so
- 54:10freaking hot.
- 54:12But that's part of the unknown and the
- 54:14unknowable, right?
- 54:15And part of the beauty of what we're
- 54:17doing.
- 54:20So just combining the three conversations
- 54:22of Sousa, Ben and Blair,
- 54:24and then something Wooley said a long time
- 54:25ago, I just, I think that makes sense.
- 54:31And the one nice thing about a football
- 54:32field is you don't have like the uneven
- 54:35ground where people are going to roll
- 54:37ankles and do all that kind of stuff.
- 54:39You have like a stadium.
- 54:41Sled pushes are much easier on a turf
- 54:43field.
- 54:46You can do sprints.
- 54:47You can do all kinds of stuff on
- 54:49that field.
- 54:50I mean,
- 54:52remember the stuff they did outside.
- 54:55Seating is built in.
- 54:56Right.
- 54:59You want VIP or whatever you want to
- 55:02call it,
- 55:03you can put stuff on either end zone
- 55:06if there's not already stuff there.
- 55:08It's tailor-made to watch stuff right
- 55:12there.
- 55:14And when I saw Sousa's IA-generated HQ and
- 55:18it had that style of a stadium,
- 55:21I was like, yes,
- 55:22that's the money right there, right?
- 55:27then you're not paying like an sap center
- 55:29or for like in wilson's case like this
- 55:33big arena in knoxville every year well and
- 55:38then it eliminates the where are the games
- 55:41going uh they're going to be at hq
- 55:43same place they always are yeah
- 55:47Every single year.
- 55:48So that takes an element out of it.
- 55:50Oh, okay, well,
- 55:51this place is in wherever they ended up
- 55:54building.
- 55:54So you know what the weather's going to
- 55:55be like every year, more or less.
- 55:58Freak events, notwithstanding.
- 56:01It's going to be in the same place.
- 56:02There's a stadium there.
- 56:04All the equipment is there.
- 56:07Rogue comes in and maybe does maintenance
- 56:09on stuff.
- 56:11change out plates brings new barbells in
- 56:13if they need new barbells stuff like that
- 56:15but other than that the rig is there
- 56:17it's set up the events are going to
- 56:19change if it's going to be different but
- 56:22as far as the games are concerned
- 56:24everything you need is already right here
- 56:28I mean and you get to use it
- 56:30all for your media for filming for all
- 56:32that kind of stuff uh to put out
- 56:34content it just
- 56:38Yeah, let's hit the lotto this weekend,
- 56:39give Sousa the money to buy CrossFit and
- 56:42move forward.
- 56:42I'd be more than happy to.
- 56:46All right, dude, it is.
- 56:47We're hitting the hour mark.
- 56:50If I don't have a meeting, man,
- 56:51we go long every day.
- 56:53You know that.
- 56:54It's not hard to do.
- 56:57But what we know officially is the
- 56:59CrossFit game season has kicked off.
- 57:04Crosby game season is here.
- 57:06It is upon us next week.
- 57:07You can sign up for the open.
- 57:09I encourage everybody to go do that.
- 57:13It's the one time you get to support
- 57:15this thing that we do this thing that
- 57:17we love.
- 57:18It's twenty dollars.
- 57:21I know that people put in super chats
- 57:23sometimes and things like that.
- 57:25This is a way to like throw some
- 57:26money at this thing that we love and
- 57:28this thing that we do and to support
- 57:31a great,
- 57:32great institution that has saved so many
- 57:36lives.
- 57:38Be a part of your box.
- 57:42be a part of your box,
- 57:43be a part of your community,
- 57:44your community at your box,
- 57:45your community that's worldwide, right?
- 57:47You know,
- 57:48if you see a CrossFitter in the wild,
- 57:50you're at the airport.
- 57:51One of the first things I'm doing is
- 57:52looking at people's shirts and looking at
- 57:54people's shoes.
- 57:56If I see somebody running around with a
- 57:57pair of Metcons or a pair of freaking,
- 57:59you know, whatever kind of,
- 58:03especially like the specialty,
- 58:04like the ones I wear,
- 58:05the strike movements and whatnot,
- 58:08that's a CrossFitter.
- 58:09I could probably go up and start talking
- 58:11to that person about whatever.
- 58:14Jason Bourne is doing twenty six point
- 58:16three in Miami at Wadapalooza.
- 58:17That is really cool.
- 58:19That's outstanding.
- 58:22But be a part of your community.
- 58:24It's twenty dollars.
- 58:25You're going to spend that on God only
- 58:27knows what some ridiculous thing to begin
- 58:29with.
- 58:29So.
- 58:31Be a part of it.
- 58:32Test your fitness.
- 58:33Test yourself.
- 58:35How hard is that?
- 58:37It should be very hard.
- 58:40And once you sign up for the open,
- 58:41make sure you go to thirdsy.com backslash
- 58:43Jazzy to get some good recovery.
- 58:47Thirdsy to help you sleep at night,
- 58:48recover,
- 58:49get those muscles all rested up for each
- 58:52week of the open.
- 58:53Because you want to go in rested and
- 58:55ready to go each and every week.
- 58:58And hopefully you hit that top twenty five
- 59:00percent and you get to go on and
- 59:02fight in quarterfinals.
- 59:05Which is an awesome goal for so many
- 59:07people.
- 59:09I'm glad it's back.
- 59:10I'm not glad I have to do it,
- 59:11but I am glad it's back.
- 59:13Sean in Oregon says, I do that too,
- 59:15Corey.
- 59:16I give them the hey, what's up nod.
- 59:18Every time.
- 59:20Every time.
- 59:22With that,
- 59:23thank you everybody for being here.
- 59:25It's been awesome.
- 59:26It's been an awesome week.
- 59:27I got Bears playoff this weekend.
- 59:29My insides are jumping out of my skin
- 59:32because I don't get to go and watch
- 59:35these things very often.
- 59:37So tomorrow night,
- 59:38I will be a basket case as the
- 59:41Bears take on the arch rival Green Bay
- 59:43Packers.
- 59:46Dude,
- 59:47Common did a hype video for the Bears.
- 59:51Oh, I didn't realize he was from Chicago.
- 59:54That's great.
- 59:55he's on the sidelines occasionally,
- 59:57but I don't even know if he's from
- 59:58there.
- 1:00:00But, you know,
- 1:00:00the coach has been doing this good,
- 1:00:02better, best thing after every game.
- 1:00:05And he did this whole narration of good
- 1:00:08when you turn five into eleven,
- 1:00:10meaning the wins they had last year to
- 1:00:12this year.
- 1:00:13And then he goes through a list of
- 1:00:14things.
- 1:00:14And then better.
- 1:00:15And he lists the next things.
- 1:00:17And then best,
- 1:00:17like the best is yet to come.
- 1:00:20Bears and earned playoffs.
- 1:00:21Let's go.
- 1:00:22And I am ready to jump through my
- 1:00:24skin.
- 1:00:28Well,
- 1:00:28I don't have any skin in the game
- 1:00:30because obviously the Saints did not make
- 1:00:33it.
- 1:00:34But being a South Tyson Baygent is a
- 1:00:36crossfitter and on the Bears,
- 1:00:38I hope the Bears win.
- 1:00:40Mike DeVito, great.
- 1:00:42Always great content.
- 1:00:42Glad I made this one.
- 1:00:44Thanks, Mike.
- 1:00:45Thanks for being here.
- 1:00:47That being said, go birds and Napoleon,
- 1:00:51go pack, go.
- 1:00:52I'll give you,
- 1:00:53I give you airtime as well,
- 1:00:56even though you're going to lose Saturday
- 1:00:57night.
- 1:00:58All right.
- 1:00:59With that being said,
- 1:01:00have a great weekend, everybody.
- 1:01:02We will see you next time on lunch
- 1:01:04with the Clydesdale.
