- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Did they do something with the camera.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I don't know, just the camera for fixed. Sorry I'm
- 0:25Speaker 1: still a.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Hobbit, But that's okay for you Lord of the Rings fans.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Well, I'm sorry.
- 0:30Speaker 3: I think there are kids that just aren't playing as
- 0:32Speaker 3: many sports specializations.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I think it's video games. Kids are getting lazy.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I am, by no means of my own expert in
- 0:38Speaker 3: nil Like, this wasn't the thing when I was in
- 0:40Speaker 3: school from Twitter, I thought you were.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Would his hypothetical team be able to spend that much
- 0:44Speaker 2: each year and still stay in to the sour cap
- 0:46Speaker 2: by paying bonuses and spreading it out decades on the cap?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Please don't let Mike give a both sides equivocal answer
- 0:54Speaker 2: that is meaningless and contains no information.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Oh wow, I mean i'd need to know.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I was in little it's all the time. Never
- 1:01Speaker 4: saw a tick. Now it's like you walk through your
- 1:02Speaker 4: backyard and you brush the leaf and.
- 1:04Speaker 1: You're like, I got a tick. I just don't think
- 1:05Speaker 1: we've checked for him. I probably had. I I think
- 1:09Speaker 1: it's a spider. It's really hard. The hell is that
- 1:12Speaker 1: when I grew up we ate the This is Patriots Unfiltered,

- 1:24Speaker 2: It is Thursday here at Jillette Stadium in the places
- 1:28Speaker 2: a buzz because tonight or actually four o'clock this afternoon.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Big friendly, friendly. It's uh, France and Brazil in Brazil
- 1:39Speaker 2: so friendly?
- 1:40Speaker 4: Like is it like fighting allion we're competing right, yeah?
- 1:46Speaker 1: They but it somebody's gonna get thrown out. This was
- 1:49Speaker 1: supposed to be friendly, friendly.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Supposed to be being friendly right now.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You know, with Brazil being one of the Patriots home markets,
- 1:58Speaker 2: I assume think that we're going to root for Brazil tonight.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Yeah what no?
- 2:05Speaker 5: I kind of like the guys on France better.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Well, okay, we're getting too deep with that.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Yeah, but can any of you name it was single
- 2:13Speaker 5: player on either team?
- 2:16Speaker 1: I could tell you. I can't. One name is Hale?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Here you go, nailed it.
- 2:22Speaker 6: I think he's name.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Does he still play? Yeah? So that's a name that
- 2:28Speaker 1: he got one name might be for Brazil. This is.
- 2:33Speaker 7: Ronaldo retired from Brazil a long time ago, you know,
- 2:36Speaker 7: single name, not to be confused with the Portuguese Ronaldo.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Two different people.
- 2:42Speaker 2: So who is the big player on Brazil?
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard of that name.
- 2:48Speaker 7: There's also a Brazilian player in the news right now
- 2:50Speaker 7: because he told off Chapel Rowan.
- 2:53Speaker 6: I don't know if you guys know that drama.
- 2:55Speaker 3: The Jude Law's daughter. Yes, I do know. Are you
- 2:59Speaker 3: proud of me? I I'm aware.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I'm aware of this story.
- 3:02Speaker 5: If I said the name in Bape, that means nothing
- 3:04Speaker 5: to you.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I know I know that name. Okay, good, matter of
- 3:07Speaker 1: I believe he was in the news because they did
- 3:09Speaker 1: the wrong knee for him. It's get an MRI on
- 3:12Speaker 1: the wrong.
- 3:13Speaker 5: The Hanson song from the nineties, exactly. That's exactly exactly
- 3:18Speaker 5: the same thing. It's not Maybe the best soccer player
- 3:20Speaker 5: in the world.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Happened to him.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I think he had a knee and j and they
- 3:25Speaker 3: there's an MRI I for him on the wrong knee.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's fine. Probably like.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Two of the top five soccer teams in the world
- 3:34Speaker 5: playing here today, so that's pretty cool.
- 3:35Speaker 6: It is a big deal.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It's cool. It's a big deal. So, like I said, this.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Stadium is Massachusetts four o'clock tip off for that.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Ye, so very excite. It's going to be on TV
- 3:47Speaker 1: probably hope. So I think we don't know check. Yeah.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Anyway, in terms of the Patriots, what do we got?
- 3:55Speaker 2: I mean, I know that it's not it's some inside baseball.
- 3:59Speaker 2: But the coaches have moved over to the new facility,
- 4:02Speaker 2: so they're no longer here. They're now taking up residents
- 4:08Speaker 2: in their new digs.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So there'll be ESPN two and I'm excited.
- 4:16Speaker 6: University.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So yeah, so they're they're over in the new digs,
- 4:22Speaker 2: and you know, players are somewhere around, but they don't
- 4:25Speaker 2: have to be here until April twentieth.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I haven't been in there yet, but I was walking
- 4:28Speaker 4: by on my walk in this morning from Spooky World
- 4:31Speaker 4: and I noticed they have big screens in the entry
- 4:33Speaker 4: area and they were like.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I could see big Patriots highlights playing. It seems like
- 4:37Speaker 1: you'll be greeted.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It's gonna be a very multimedia It's it's it's a
- 4:43Speaker 2: nice place, it really is.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's it's pretty cool.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good, good thing for the for the
- 4:48Speaker 3: team in the organization, long overdue.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Yeah, we're gonna tour of it in a couple of weeks.
- 4:52Speaker 4: I think we'll go over and check it out. Yeah,
- 4:55Speaker 4: I forget who was.
- 4:57Speaker 2: One of the players was there, and uh, he's like,
- 4:59Speaker 2: I can can't believe this place. And somebody from PR said,
- 5:04Speaker 2: you know you came from Minnesota. Isn't that great, because well,
- 5:07Speaker 2: the chandeliers are better in Minnesota, but the other stuff here,
- 5:12Speaker 2: And he was talking about the lockers themselves, like this
- 5:15Speaker 2: is really cool and I don't want to spoil it,
- 5:17Speaker 2: but there's some really cool features of the lockers that
- 5:20Speaker 2: the players will be able to take advantage of it.
- 5:23Speaker 1: We'll get all that.
- 5:24Speaker 2: We'll have a virtual tour of the place nice down
- 5:28Speaker 2: the road so fans can see what's going on there.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Do you expect that the training camp will change it
- 5:34Speaker 4: all with that facility in the lower field or you know,
- 5:37Speaker 4: do you think that they'll still come up to the
- 5:39Speaker 4: top two fields where they've usually done.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I mean they have to, they just have the ninety guys.
- 5:45Speaker 1: They can't be on one field.
- 5:47Speaker 5: I would think maybe in season practice might be run
- 5:50Speaker 5: the lower field, but they switch it up because of
- 5:53Speaker 5: the grass and keeping the fields fresh and like the
- 5:56Speaker 5: you know, field crew might need to work on it
- 5:58Speaker 5: that week or whatever. So they that's why they constantly
- 6:01Speaker 5: are switching lower upper upper.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaking of grass, the grass looks great out here. Yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 1: so it's so interesting. First since two thousand and six
- 6:10Speaker 1: that they've had grass on this field, is that right, Well,
- 6:12Speaker 1: they've had it for soccer. They for that.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Okay, now it looks nice, smells nice, they cut it. Well,
- 6:20Speaker 4: we're noticing, you know, they do this designs and stuff.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm a simple man.
- 6:24Speaker 6: Ryan's crew does a good job and it looks nice
- 6:27Speaker 6: on TV.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And they do it while wearing brunt the work Yeah,
- 6:33Speaker 2: the official workware of the to Let Stadium field crew.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So you can get ten dollars off nice plug.
- 6:42Speaker 3: So you have seen the facility, Freddy, right, Yes, what
- 6:46Speaker 3: stood out to you is like like one of the
- 6:48Speaker 3: best features that you that you can remember.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I was, I was amazed.
- 6:53Speaker 2: The locker room is expansive, like when you go in
- 6:57Speaker 2: there compared to the locker room we've been.
- 6:59Speaker 3: So they won't any more need to have like the
- 7:01Speaker 3: temporary blue lockers in the middle during training.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Like I'm very interested to see how like open locker
- 7:10Speaker 5: room is gonna go with so much space because like,
- 7:14Speaker 5: you know, that's you could be on the other side
- 7:16Speaker 5: and the scrum starts on this side, and then it's
- 7:19Speaker 5: gonna be you know, all sorts of Yeah, it's gonna
- 7:22Speaker 5: but I like it.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I think it's good.
- 7:24Speaker 5: I think that it gets especially when you have, you know,
- 7:27Speaker 5: bigger media contingents, like towards last season when they're winning
- 7:30Speaker 5: and they're in playoff games and stuff, a lot of
- 7:33Speaker 5: people in.
- 7:33Speaker 1: There, you know.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah, so the locker rooms and the actual lockers themselves
- 7:38Speaker 2: are really cool. Uh, and then the dining is like
- 7:44Speaker 2: a food court.
- 7:45Speaker 1: It's huge. It's gonna be tough for Mike.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah, especially because, yeah, because you're gonna lose Evan, So
- 7:52Speaker 3: I on Evan is gonna be much more difficult for you. Right,
- 7:57Speaker 3: It's gonna be tough for Evan because when Fred ask
- 8:00Speaker 3: them what the mood is, well, I don't know.
- 8:02Speaker 1: The people I saw seemed to be in a good move,
- 8:04Speaker 1: but a lot of people I have no idea what
- 8:07Speaker 1: they were doing. I couldn't see them. Hey, go over there.
- 8:10Speaker 4: I think that'll be good though, because they'll be I
- 8:12Speaker 4: think everybody congregates to like one scrum now and maybe
- 8:15Speaker 4: they'll be you know, kind.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Of more separate multi scrum.
- 8:18Speaker 4: During playoffs, it did courting off a little bit, and
- 8:21Speaker 4: there were different groups going at at once.
- 8:23Speaker 5: That's because people that know nothing about the team would
- 8:25Speaker 5: come in and like they'd be interviewing somebody that didn't
- 8:28Speaker 5: help them.
- 8:40Speaker 6: Like frat guy that stands at the door for a
- 8:43Speaker 6: house party. Who do you know here?
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 8:45Speaker 6: Who invited?
- 8:47Speaker 5: Well I'm not to brag, but there were times last
- 8:50Speaker 5: year where like the players would be like, you know,
- 8:53Speaker 5: I won't talk to that guy, but I'll talk to you,
- 8:56Speaker 5: and like, you know, because they know us, like they don't.
- 8:59Speaker 5: He's the national people or the people that jumped on
- 9:02Speaker 5: the bandwagon late. There were some players that were kind
- 9:05Speaker 5: of spicy about it.
- 9:06Speaker 1: They were like, no, I don't think it cause the
- 9:08Speaker 1: media they jumped on the bear wagon, or they're just
- 9:09Speaker 1: covering the team.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I would find anyone who criticizes the media more than
- 9:15Speaker 3: I do, but Evan does.
- 9:17Speaker 5: If you were weren't there at four and thirteen, don't
- 9:19Speaker 5: show up at fourteen and three.
- 9:20Speaker 1: That's all I got sending people. They sent me here.
- 9:24Speaker 1: That's my job. They didn't choose to come here. They
- 9:27Speaker 1: told me I had to be here. Go someplace, elf,
- 9:31Speaker 1: tell your editor North. The North remembers.
- 9:39Speaker 6: I love Petty Evan.
- 9:40Speaker 1: All right, so there are another kind.
- 9:42Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 2: So no, no new news and free agency. You know,
- 9:48Speaker 2: I'm not going to bring up the receiver from the Eagles.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I'm not going to bring that up because there's nothing
- 9:53Speaker 2: new on that front. I know they're getting ready for
- 9:58Speaker 2: the draft. That's that's huge right now.
- 10:01Speaker 1: That's right.
- 10:02Speaker 5: We've had some spotted, you know, in the wild Elliot
- 10:06Speaker 5: Wolf at different pro days. I think he was at
- 10:09Speaker 5: Miami is alma Mater a couple of days ago. Then
- 10:12Speaker 5: he was at Auburn I believe two days ago. So
- 10:17Speaker 5: every every day now there's like, you know a picture
- 10:20Speaker 5: of poor Elliott walking through a college campus and it's
- 10:23Speaker 5: like spotted in a Patriots GM. So yeah, they're all
- 10:28Speaker 5: on the pro day tour right now, and then obviously
- 10:31Speaker 5: owners meetings will be this weekend, but right now they're
- 10:33Speaker 5: on the pro days.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, all right, what else? I got my pillow,
- 10:39Speaker 2: all right? I got it early. I got it a
- 10:42Speaker 2: day early, so I've had two nights on it. I
- 10:45Speaker 2: got it out of the box and I was like,
- 10:47Speaker 2: this isn't what I thought it was. I was ready
- 10:49Speaker 2: to return it because it didn't seem like as sturdy
- 10:53Speaker 2: as I thought it would be. But this is a
- 10:57Speaker 2: unique pillow. It's pretty cool. So I have to say
- 11:00Speaker 2: after two nights, all right, I'm impressed. I'm impressed, but
- 11:05Speaker 2: we'll see. I'm going to give it a month before arrested.
- 11:08Speaker 6: So far I did.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I kind of did a little bit.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you're a side sleeper friend exclusive side.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Do you go side to side or your side? Yeah?
- 11:20Speaker 1: I thrash thrash. That's why I hate the memory phone
- 11:24Speaker 1: because it's hard to thrash. Yeah, it's so much effort
- 11:26Speaker 1: to get over in memory phone. It like sucks you
- 11:28Speaker 1: and it's like quick stands. Yeah, so you got to
- 11:31Speaker 1: get a sturdier memory phone. Then that's a that's a
- 11:35Speaker 1: big expense, Paul, and my wife loves that we have.
- 11:38Speaker 3: I did spend more money on a mattress than I'm
- 11:41Speaker 3: comfortable with.
- 11:42Speaker 2: More to come on that, but some early scheduled talk
- 11:45Speaker 2: with the league Wednesday night. The league the season will
- 11:48Speaker 2: open in Australia. Yeah that's wild, but I guess if
- 11:53Speaker 2: you're going to play in Australia, that's the only time
- 11:55Speaker 2: you can do it.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You have all that time in front.
- 11:58Speaker 2: You play on Wednesday, and you have, yeah, you know,
- 12:01Speaker 2: over ten days until your next game, you know.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Yeah, So just to you have two different things going on.
- 12:08Speaker 3: The opener is actually the Wednesday in Seattle, is it not?
- 12:14Speaker 3: Isn't the second game the one in Australia?
- 12:16Speaker 1: I believe you'rerent?
- 12:17Speaker 7: Maybe maybe now is it Wednesday night here or Wednesday
- 12:20Speaker 7: in Australia.
- 12:21Speaker 1: No, the Wednesday Settle Seattle.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Opponent to TBD could be the Patriots, by the way,
- 12:29Speaker 3: could be the Patriots because the Patriots are Thurday night
- 12:32Speaker 3: Australia Thursday night locally eight thirty five in Australia, it's
- 12:38Speaker 3: like ten thirty in the morning, I think on Friday.
- 12:42Speaker 3: So it's a little confusing, but that's actually the second game.
- 12:45Speaker 3: The kickoff is still Seattle for defending champs, and the
- 12:48Speaker 3: Patriots are in play for that because they do travel.
- 12:51Speaker 5: They did used to do that for a period of
- 12:53Speaker 5: time or they have a rematch, but they kind of
- 12:54Speaker 5: stopped doing that.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Well they I think they realized they don't need to
- 12:58Speaker 3: have a marquee matchup to it's you're a you know,
- 13:01Speaker 3: huge rating. They're going to get a big number no
- 13:03Speaker 3: matter who Seattle.
- 13:04Speaker 5: So what's the Brazil game Friday night?
- 13:08Speaker 3: I do not believe there's a Friday night game. I
- 13:10Speaker 3: think it's it's Thursday.
- 13:12Speaker 1: There was last year. I read something. I don't know
- 13:15Speaker 1: if this was true, that only if we could look
- 13:17Speaker 1: it up, because it's starting a little bit later.
- 13:21Speaker 3: It goes into the window of you know, it's sort
- 13:25Speaker 3: of the monopoly, you know, the anti trust.
- 13:28Speaker 1: The high school football with the high school and whatnot.
- 13:32Speaker 5: There's a law that to preserve high school athletics, you
- 13:37Speaker 5: cannot play on Friday nights and from a certain time
- 13:41Speaker 5: to a certain time of the fall. I believe Saturday too,
- 13:44Speaker 5: right for college football, it's like they tried.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Yeah, now they've definitely pushed the envelope on on that stuff,
- 13:51Speaker 3: but I think those rules are still in play.
- 13:53Speaker 5: It is the high school one, for sure.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I didn't know that. I didn't know that they honored.
- 13:59Speaker 5: It's from my certain it's a window right from like
- 14:02Speaker 5: September to maybe like Thanksgiving that you can't play Friday
- 14:06Speaker 5: night professional football.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so you know a little early schedule stuff.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and the Australia game is set. It's the you know,
- 14:14Speaker 3: the Rams and the Niners. So that takes two potential
- 14:17Speaker 3: opponents away from Seattle.
- 14:20Speaker 2: You know just that that's too yeah, right, because they
- 14:26Speaker 2: you know, I think there's a chance.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I don't want to.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I mean, I don't want So what's been happening over
- 14:31Speaker 2: the last few years is these early games throughout the
- 14:34Speaker 2: league have been divisional games. But when you have the
- 14:36Speaker 2: Super Bowl champs, they like to bring in either their
- 14:41Speaker 2: AFC opponent, I mean, their conference opponent or in rematch of.
- 14:44Speaker 1: The Super in Week one.
- 14:45Speaker 3: You know you are in play in Week one, you
- 14:47Speaker 3: don't have to worry about the whole vision thing because
- 14:50Speaker 3: you have the whole time. You know, you'll have till
- 14:52Speaker 3: May to prepare for the opener. I think it's a
- 14:56Speaker 3: good time. Like I think that's a difficult game. I
- 14:59Speaker 3: think for the home team, the defending champ to play,
- 15:01Speaker 3: I think there's always a lot of emotion.
- 15:03Speaker 1: You know, generally they win. I'm not saying that they
- 15:07Speaker 1: you know, well, you know, the record is terrible in that,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but I do think that can.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Be a tricky game for the defending Would you like
- 15:14Speaker 3: the Patriots to play in that game?
- 15:16Speaker 1: They wouldn't they both really, I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I'd
- 15:19Speaker 1: like to.
- 15:20Speaker 4: I'd like to have a little time to develop Drake
- 15:23Speaker 4: and go into Seattle and feel like we have a
- 15:25Speaker 4: new addition, not like we're picking right up off the
- 15:27Speaker 4: Super Bowl ass kicking and we got to go right
- 15:29Speaker 4: back into there, and you know, there's not much chance
- 15:31Speaker 4: to let things gel.
- 15:32Speaker 1: And I mean, I see it. They're the super Bowl champs.
- 15:34Speaker 1: They're a great team. It's a really hard maybe they
- 15:36Speaker 1: have led.
- 15:37Speaker 4: They're a new team too now, but you know, Walker,
- 15:40Speaker 4: they still got the y.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I'm good with it. Let's get right. I think it's
- 15:48Speaker 1: a good time to play them.
- 15:50Speaker 4: You get the long so you could go out there,
- 15:53Speaker 4: you could play them, and then you're gonna have to
- 15:55Speaker 4: go back out to l a later in the season.
- 15:57Speaker 4: So I mean, I ideally they'd like but at least
- 15:59Speaker 4: that you get it out of the way this week
- 16:01Speaker 4: and then so I see the advantage of that.
- 16:03Speaker 1: But I'd like to.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I'd like to see that more in the middle of
- 16:05Speaker 4: the season and see, you know what the Patriots have got,
- 16:07Speaker 4: how the.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Teams get I get that.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Yeah, Now they handle some of the West Coast trips
- 16:15Speaker 5: because Bill would have a stay out there for a
- 16:18Speaker 5: week and play him back to back if he could.
- 16:20Speaker 5: I don't know how Mike Rabele's going to handle that.
- 16:23Speaker 5: You know, typically we'd also go out like on Friday,
- 16:26Speaker 5: we go a day early for the longer trips and
- 16:28Speaker 5: like all that kind of stuff. We didn't do that
- 16:31Speaker 5: for Denver, and I was a little surprised that we
- 16:33Speaker 5: didn't do that, and now they won anyways, So yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 5: but I'm interested to see how that is all handled
- 16:40Speaker 5: because in the past we would you make a trip
- 16:42Speaker 5: out of it, and you'd.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Well you have to you have to ask for that,
- 16:45Speaker 2: and then the schedule maker can either do it or
- 16:48Speaker 2: not do it.
- 16:49Speaker 5: Right. Yeah, yep, maybe we'll find out. It seems like
- 16:53Speaker 5: an owner's meetings question or topic.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Sounding like yoa there was no try you.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Know, schedule maker do or they don't do it?
- 17:01Speaker 2: Well no, I mean because sometimes they just can't. They can't,
- 17:06Speaker 2: you know, uh it's a concert.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, right, give me the Dolphins, like you know,
- 17:11Speaker 1: week one, give me start off. Well, they had the
- 17:17Speaker 1: Raiders last year and over there for you you need
- 17:22Speaker 1: a nice cupcakes over them. Yeah, it would be nice.
- 17:28Speaker 2: What do you think it's more likely of these two
- 17:30Speaker 2: homecoming they start fast and fade, or they start slow
- 17:35Speaker 2: and get.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Better B B. Yeah, that's more likely.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Yeah, huh yeah, I mean I think it does time
- 17:42Speaker 4: to opponents. Yeah, I have to say without seeing the start, Miami.
- 17:49Speaker 3: And I think they're going to be ready to go
- 17:51Speaker 3: at the beginning. I think they have a lot of motivation.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I think you lose the Super Bowl. I think that
- 17:55Speaker 3: the Super Bowl loser thing is real. Oh yeah, I
- 17:58Speaker 3: think that kind of where where is on you a
- 18:00Speaker 3: little bit as the season goes.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Now it's it's tough.
- 18:04Speaker 4: I mean, there was another little stat that came out
- 18:08Speaker 4: yesterday that I saw from Warren Sharp that was ranked
- 18:10Speaker 4: the teams how long each NFL team spent playing from
- 18:13Speaker 4: ahead last season. And it's another one where the Patriots
- 18:17Speaker 4: were the team that played from ahead the most of
- 18:20Speaker 4: anybody in the league. And you know, talking with the guys,
- 18:23Speaker 4: it's like, you don't want to bring up negative views
- 18:26Speaker 4: of last season, but look like they thread the needle
- 18:28Speaker 4: last year. They had an easy schedule, they had no injuries,
- 18:31Speaker 4: they played from a front more than anybody else. You know,
- 18:34Speaker 4: So I think this season is going to be about adversity,
- 18:36Speaker 4: and it's gonna be about it's gonna be more challenging.
- 18:39Speaker 4: There's gonna be more things I think they have to
- 18:40Speaker 4: deal with this year. It's not gonna all just break
- 18:42Speaker 4: their way.
- 18:42Speaker 3: See, I'm gonna assume they're gonna do the mic just
- 18:44Speaker 3: so open at the schedule.
- 18:45Speaker 1: We're gonna go Dolphins, Jets, Titans, like you know, and
- 18:49Speaker 1: then the Dolphins again. Here we go baby, right right.
- 18:52Speaker 1: And it's fun t see.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Funny that they played ahead in the league more than
- 18:58Speaker 2: any other team given that first drive problems that they
- 19:01Speaker 2: were having with the other team.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I mean, it made sense to me.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I mean, it's just an I think it's part of
- 19:07Speaker 4: the reason why the Super Bowl was so frustrating, because
- 19:09Speaker 4: they were like.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Down the whole time, but it was three.
- 19:13Speaker 3: But really it was only the Baltimore game that they
- 19:15Speaker 3: came from behind from right. That was why that game
- 19:17Speaker 3: stood out so much, because they hadn't really done.
- 19:20Speaker 5: It come from behind when fourth quarter drive.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Behind a little bit right to tie it up, didn't they.
- 19:28Speaker 5: The game in Buffalo?
- 19:30Speaker 3: In Buffalo, they were losing at one point in the
- 19:32Speaker 3: second half, but then they immediately went right back.
- 19:35Speaker 1: So really, well, it was Bills, Bills tied it late.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Bill's game was a game winning drive, yes, field goal,
- 19:42Speaker 5: but game winning drive. But in Baltimore, he first fourth
- 19:46Speaker 5: quarter comeback, first three hundred yard passing game, like it
- 19:50Speaker 5: would checked like all of the boxes that people were like, oh,
- 19:53Speaker 5: he hasn't done these things yet and needed them all
- 19:55Speaker 5: in Baltimore.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, So looking back on the season, was that was
- 20:02Speaker 2: that the inflection point? Was that the say okay, that
- 20:05Speaker 2: was the game where okay, we've got a good team Baltimore. Yeah, no, no, no,
- 20:09Speaker 2: the Buffalo.
- 20:09Speaker 1: The first Buffalo wins for me absolutely by far.
- 20:14Speaker 5: I think a lot of you know, talking to the
- 20:17Speaker 5: coaches like during the super Bowl week and stuff like that,
- 20:19Speaker 5: a lot of them felt like the Baltimore game was
- 20:22Speaker 5: when they knew they could go on a run. Like
- 20:25Speaker 5: maybe the Buffalo game is like kind of a proof
- 20:27Speaker 5: of concept kind of game for them, or they they
- 20:30Speaker 5: got some confidence, but they felt like, you know, primetime
- 20:33Speaker 5: game in Baltimore, you're down in the fourth quarter, you
- 20:36Speaker 5: come back and win the game. That that was sort
- 20:38Speaker 5: of when they were like, okay, this is this team
- 20:40Speaker 5: is different. You know, there's a real contendent.
- 20:42Speaker 2: So maybe Buffalo was more for Drake. Baltimore was more
- 20:46Speaker 2: for the team.
- 20:48Speaker 5: I felt like Buffalo was, okay, like we're a good team.
- 20:53Speaker 5: I think Baltimore was like, we might be a great team.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, okay, I guess.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I mean, I just go back to with playing from ahead.
- 21:03Speaker 4: How many times over the last few years before that
- 21:05Speaker 4: did we talk about they need to be in front,
- 21:07Speaker 4: like they need like there was such a requirement for
- 21:10Speaker 4: the less talented Patriots team and it was, you know,
- 21:12Speaker 4: this team I thought was a little more talented, but
- 21:13Speaker 4: it was, you know, still still a requirement. But I
- 21:16Speaker 4: don't know, I just I think the way this is
- 21:18Speaker 4: shaping them in my mind, and maybe they'll you know,
- 21:20Speaker 4: at AJ Brown or at another player that that you know,
- 21:23Speaker 4: continues to move the needle in the right direction. But
- 21:25Speaker 4: I think this is going to be a challenging season.
- 21:27Speaker 4: It's going to be, you know, one that wouldn't.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Have it any other way. No, let's test the let's
- 21:32Speaker 1: test our metal. Let's let's do it. But you need
- 21:35Speaker 1: to get up for all these games. I mean, the opponents,
- 21:37Speaker 1: it's it's.
- 21:37Speaker 2: They're going to have to do it without Josh Dobbs,
- 21:40Speaker 2: and everyone says that this clears the way for Tommy Cutlets. However,
- 21:45Speaker 2: there's another quarterback out there that could be a backup
- 21:49Speaker 2: and Tom Brader.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Patrick Brady, Oh yeah, I didn't know where you were
- 21:53Speaker 1: going with that. I knew I picked it up. But
- 21:55Speaker 1: how would that even happen?
- 21:57Speaker 2: Like maybe he was just you know, uh, you know,
- 22:01Speaker 2: baiting us. But if you were to come out of retirement,
- 22:05Speaker 2: could he play for any other team but the Raiders?
- 22:07Speaker 5: So I guess he inquired. That's what he claims, is
- 22:10Speaker 5: that he inquired of whether or not he'd have to
- 22:12Speaker 5: give up his stake in the Raiders to play, And
- 22:15Speaker 5: I guess the league said.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yes, okay, so he would He couldn't.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Right, I could be mistaken if he got a hand
- 22:22Speaker 3: to the league. They put their foot down, Brady, just
- 22:25Speaker 3: to whatever he wants.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Did is Mario Lemu play for the Penguins when he
- 22:28Speaker 5: had ownership in the Penguins?
- 22:30Speaker 1: I believe, Yeah, that is accurate.
- 22:33Speaker 5: So that was the only comparison I could think of, because, uh,
- 22:37Speaker 5: this topic has come up and he.
- 22:39Speaker 7: Has equity in his team in Miami.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Right, do I just remember Mario Lemu as a kid
- 22:46Speaker 5: playing and having some sort of whether it was managerial
- 22:50Speaker 5: or ownership or something like that in the Penguins.
- 22:53Speaker 7: Well, if I've taken your own team, I guess it's
- 22:54Speaker 7: a little different. Like Tom would have to I guess
- 22:57Speaker 7: be a Raiders quarterback.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I mean I know that for another team while he
- 23:04Speaker 2: owned one. It's like what are you even thinking?
- 23:06Speaker 6: Series where the inquiries like, yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 4: He'd be a great mentor for Fernando and Mendoza. Ye right,
- 23:11Speaker 4: Like you know you ease him in, like let Brady
- 23:13Speaker 4: go out there.
- 23:13Speaker 5: I don't know if Brady wants to get into a
- 23:15Speaker 5: training camp battle with Fernando Mendoza at forty eight years old, I.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Don't know related to he played that flag football game
- 23:22Speaker 4: and he was Jim Ruffalo.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, but I mean, you know, he throws a
- 23:27Speaker 2: touchdown in a flag football.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Game and now he's ready to I was saying, he's
- 23:30Speaker 4: like frustrated because they didn't they couldn't beat the flag team, and.
- 23:32Speaker 1: He's like, I have to go back to the NFL
- 23:34Speaker 1: and prove them just don't do it, you know. I
- 23:37Speaker 1: mean he did look good, you know, yeah they got killed.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Well, I mean it was a great I'm talking about
- 23:44Speaker 2: just him out there as a human being he looked
- 23:47Speaker 2: in shape.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Yeah, he looked good. Yeah he's still he's in good shape.
- 23:51Speaker 4: I mean, I I think as you get, especially in
- 23:54Speaker 4: your forties, as those hits that up.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's not as easy to bounce back,
- 23:58Speaker 1: but hey, if any but he can do it being
- 24:00Speaker 1: in your sixties. I wish that this wasn't a new Pillow.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I wish this wasn't the way that his post playing
- 24:06Speaker 5: career went.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Like I I wish that he the heel. I know,
- 24:11Speaker 1: I wish that it was different twelve. He's TV twelve.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That's like how I look at it.
- 24:16Speaker 2: It's just not going to movies and but you're a
- 24:19Speaker 2: patriot for life.
- 24:21Speaker 5: I just wasn't what I wanted. Yeah, I too, it's
- 24:25Speaker 5: too much.
- 24:26Speaker 1: The whole thing has been crazy.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Yeah all right, so yeah, so I guess Tommy Cutletz
- 24:33Speaker 2: is our backup, right.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Yeah for now.
- 24:34Speaker 4: When we talked a little bit about, you know, maybe
- 24:36Speaker 4: some draft options to bring some guys in, it's I think.
- 24:39Speaker 2: You draft somebody six round or what no Evan.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Evan pointed out, you know, do you want to draft
- 24:43Speaker 4: somebody who's going to be a backup, or do you
- 24:45Speaker 4: see somebody maybe that that you can develop. But I
- 24:48Speaker 4: like I've always said it, I think it's always good
- 24:50Speaker 4: business to draft quarterbacks and get a bunch of six
- 24:53Speaker 4: round picks.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Maybe throw on it at that and continue the pipeline.
- 24:57Speaker 1: You just you never know.
- 24:58Speaker 4: I'm also just curious how they felt about the Vito.
- 25:01Speaker 4: I mean, we'll kind of I mean, I thought he
- 25:02Speaker 4: was great in that preseason game before. I mean, remember
- 25:05Speaker 4: we watched him the preseason game but been playing the Patriots.
- 25:07Speaker 4: He looked pretty good, and it's like, man, they could
- 25:08Speaker 4: they could use somebody like this, and.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Then they ended up getting him.
- 25:11Speaker 4: I'd love to know what his development was like last
- 25:13Speaker 4: year behind the scenes, you know, within the system, and
- 25:16Speaker 4: how did he take to it. Did they really say, wow,
- 25:18Speaker 4: you know he's making great strides. We feel like we
- 25:20Speaker 4: can move on from Dobbs. Or was it just strictly
- 25:22Speaker 4: a money thing with Dobbs, where they're like, you know,
- 25:24Speaker 4: we don't really want to pay a backup this much.
- 25:26Speaker 4: We don't think we need him as much. But it's
- 25:29Speaker 4: interesting to see him. We see him get some.
- 25:30Speaker 5: Stupid things about de Vito behind the scenes last year,
- 25:33Speaker 5: like one of those guys that would you know, stay
- 25:37Speaker 5: late and throw with receivers that wanted it. He always
- 25:40Speaker 5: was out there early with Efton Chisholm. Sometimes both of
- 25:42Speaker 5: those guys were inactive and they go through workouts pre game,
- 25:46Speaker 5: like early early workouts and things like that.
- 25:49Speaker 1: And I think that he.
- 25:52Speaker 5: Kind of, you know, won some people over a little bit,
- 25:56Speaker 5: not that he needed to win people over, but you
- 25:57Speaker 5: know what I mean.
- 25:58Speaker 3: But I do wonder that dynamic for that position is
- 26:01Speaker 3: different than virtually all the other ones because only one
- 26:04Speaker 3: guy plays, and you assume that any backup is going
- 26:07Speaker 3: to want to play, He's going to want to be
- 26:10Speaker 3: a starter. But does he understand that he's not and
- 26:13Speaker 3: then instead of being on your island, you know, which
- 26:17Speaker 3: I think has been a periodic problem in the past.
- 26:20Speaker 3: And I don't know what it was with Joshua Dobbs.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I'm not suggesting it was, but it was a little
- 26:24Speaker 3: bit of an issue with Brissette when they decided to
- 26:26Speaker 3: put Drake in the in the lineup in week five
- 26:30Speaker 3: or six or whatever it was. And clearly it was
- 26:33Speaker 3: an issue with Joe Milton, you know, with the guy
- 26:37Speaker 3: in that room who thought he should be, you know,
- 26:40Speaker 3: competing more for the starting job and Alex is right,
- 26:43Speaker 3: Bailey Zappy thought he was better than he probably was,
- 26:47Speaker 3: but he thought he was better than Mac Jones, and
- 26:49Speaker 3: that was an issue at the time. So the dynamics
- 26:52Speaker 3: in that room are a little bit different than they.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Both stink. Let's call it what it is.
- 26:58Speaker 5: I'm pretty good for the Fords last.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Ye because of your guy. I'll give you a guy credit.
- 27:01Speaker 5: Okay, both my guys, so you can give them both credit. Yeah,
- 27:05Speaker 5: I think that de Vito seems like you really liked
- 27:09Speaker 5: it here. I think it's, you know, he's a New
- 27:12Speaker 5: Jersey Northeast kind of guy. Yeah, you know, agents from
- 27:16Speaker 5: here in the North End, like every weekend. I felt like,
- 27:19Speaker 5: you know, So I think that they're they feel pretty
- 27:22Speaker 5: good about the way it went for him last year
- 27:25Speaker 5: here behind the scenes.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Can I jump on something real quick.
- 27:27Speaker 4: I was just thinking about you mentioned Kyle Shanahan. I
- 27:29Speaker 4: just I'm so fascinated by the NFC West this year
- 27:31Speaker 4: and like.
- 27:32Speaker 1: For so long.
- 27:32Speaker 4: I mean it's just the Rams and the forty nine
- 27:34Speaker 4: ers and those and now the Seahawks have won.
- 27:36Speaker 1: A Super Bowl.
- 27:37Speaker 4: I mean, what a great division that that is. I mean,
- 27:40Speaker 4: it's got to be the best division in the league.
- 27:41Speaker 4: I just don't remember a time where the North Division
- 27:44Speaker 4: had three really good teams that were all right there.
- 27:47Speaker 4: And yeah, you know it's and I mean, right now,
- 27:49Speaker 4: it feels weird to say that San Francisco feels like
- 27:52Speaker 4: the third team to me right now, you know, I mean,
- 27:55Speaker 4: I feel like they're a little behind. And that's you know,
- 27:57Speaker 4: hasn't really been the case.
- 27:58Speaker 5: Some of their their players are off was just starting
- 28:00Speaker 5: to age out a little bit, which is a big
- 28:02Speaker 5: part of it.
- 28:03Speaker 1: You know, George Kittle, Kittles, banged up.
- 28:06Speaker 5: Kyle used Check like, guys like that are starting to
- 28:09Speaker 5: get a little bit older. You know, they had they
- 28:11Speaker 5: were absolutely decimated by injuries last year.
- 28:14Speaker 1: If they if.
- 28:15Speaker 5: They had, and you know, then obviously whatever the heck
- 28:21Speaker 5: is going on with Brandon i U happens. And so
- 28:23Speaker 5: you know, there was a lot of like extenuating circumtance.
- 28:25Speaker 4: How long can Kyle Shanahan stay there with consistent third
- 28:28Speaker 4: place finishes and you know, in the division, like you know, good.
- 28:32Speaker 5: Luck finding a better coach.
- 28:35Speaker 3: So there's a difference between finishing at third place and
- 28:37Speaker 3: going twelve and five. Yeah, yeah, So it's you know,
- 28:40Speaker 3: like that's one of those that's a Felger fact right there, right,
- 28:43Speaker 3: you know, like they went, you can still make the
- 28:45Speaker 3: one and Evans right, there'd be few teams that you
- 28:48Speaker 3: could stack up lost more man games to injury than
- 28:51Speaker 3: the Niners didn't. I'm talking about significant players to injury.
- 28:56Speaker 3: And I don't even know, like they may have actually
- 28:59Speaker 3: were they hire seed than the Rams. I know they
- 29:01Speaker 3: both went twelve and five. I don't, I don't know.
- 29:04Speaker 7: It isn't that game against Seattle that they played the
- 29:06Speaker 7: second time for the division title and they lost.
- 29:09Speaker 1: They lost both time, So you lose.
- 29:10Speaker 7: The division to the super Bowl champion, like you got
- 29:13Speaker 7: to tip your card out.
- 29:14Speaker 3: So like you can say, well, they're a third place team.
- 29:16Speaker 3: They were also ran, but they won twelve games. It's like,
- 29:18Speaker 3: and I know, Evan, you started to say this, the
- 29:21Speaker 3: NFC North is a you know, it's a nightmare too.
- 29:24Speaker 3: And I would say it's an even better division because
- 29:27Speaker 3: I think all four teams are pretty good.
- 29:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and at least the West has the Cardinals to
- 29:32Speaker 5: be rope on every Yeah.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Right, so yeah, Chicago's sort of rise last year means
- 29:38Speaker 3: all four of those teams are formidable. We'll see what
- 29:40Speaker 3: happens with with Green Bay in Detroit, in Minnesota, you
- 29:44Speaker 3: know Minnesota again, you could say, well, last place team
- 29:47Speaker 3: they went nine and eight. You know, not all last
- 29:49Speaker 3: place teams are the Jets that go three and four team,
- 29:53Speaker 3: you know.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Yeah, you just wonder if the owners can be patient
- 29:55Speaker 4: through that, and you know, like, yeah, and it was
- 29:58Speaker 4: rams for the fifth seed.
- 29:59Speaker 1: The forty nine ers were with a sixth seed last year.
- 30:02Speaker 4: But you know, it's just it's one of those things
- 30:04Speaker 4: where you have a really stacked division and you never
- 30:07Speaker 4: like you need to continue to stay at top, and
- 30:10Speaker 4: it's hard to maintain your position. And that's why it's
- 30:13Speaker 4: like the forty nine ers have been kind of like
- 30:15Speaker 4: golden child for some you know, the offensive coordinators.
- 30:17Speaker 1: So yeah, it.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Reminds me a lot of Andy Reid and Philly right
- 30:21Speaker 5: or it's like.
- 30:23Speaker 4: The offensive Golden Boy and they have Mike McDonald's the
- 30:25Speaker 4: defensive golden boy.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:27Speaker 5: The second that if Kyle Shanahan never got let go
- 30:30Speaker 5: by the Niners because he can't get over the hub,
- 30:32Speaker 5: he's going to get that Kansas City it e goals
- 30:34Speaker 5: to Kansas City thing, just like Andy Reid did, and
- 30:37Speaker 5: he'll have another ten years of success someplace else. So
- 30:41Speaker 5: sometimes the message runs its course and you have to
- 30:44Speaker 5: make those difficult decisions. But I can't imagine that they
- 30:48Speaker 5: think that's coming anytime soon.
- 30:49Speaker 1: There's there's the Seahawks opponents. Who would you guys pick
- 30:51Speaker 1: for there? I'm just looking. I just see that Dallas
- 30:54Speaker 1: is on the west.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Question is should see in their opening night.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Dallas, Kansas City or the Chargers.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Maybe is Mahomes healthy because they yeah, see, I think
- 31:02Speaker 3: they won't do Kansas City because of you know, not
- 31:05Speaker 3: knowing Mahomes will be ready.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Kind of like the Chargers though, I mean, that's not
- 31:08Speaker 4: crazy travel and it's you know, a team that was
- 31:10Speaker 4: banged up and maybe could have been in the mix
- 31:12Speaker 4: last year in the AFC A little bit, not a
- 31:14Speaker 4: bad One's.
- 31:15Speaker 6: Get the eyeballs though, it does.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Chargers, Yeah, Joe.
- 31:22Speaker 2: So I hear the argument, let's wait, see what we
- 31:26Speaker 2: have for some and then let's get another, you know,
- 31:29Speaker 2: chance at them. I also can see the point of
- 31:32Speaker 2: let's let's get right back in.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Yeah, see what we got see if we if we yeah,
- 31:37Speaker 1: I mean, ultimately it doesn't really matter all that much.
- 31:39Speaker 1: It all comes out. You got a play in the
- 31:41Speaker 1: order they put it there, but you are record.
- 31:44Speaker 5: I just wonder how you know the the cyclical stuff
- 31:47Speaker 5: of this, like the Seattle defense, the way they play defense,
- 31:50Speaker 5: the way they structure it. That's the thing right now
- 31:53Speaker 5: in the league. And McDonald's running it. The Raven's new
- 31:57Speaker 5: head coach. I'm bugging on right, Jesse is running it
- 32:01Speaker 5: like that's that's the defense. And you know, guys like
- 32:04Speaker 5: Josh McDaniels are spending the entire offseason trying to figure
- 32:07Speaker 5: out how to how to attack that. You know, they
- 32:10Speaker 5: had Kyle Shanahan on the Super Bowl pregame and that
- 32:13Speaker 5: Seahawks defense shut the Niners offense almost completely out two
- 32:17Speaker 5: times at the end of the year, the one that
- 32:19Speaker 5: Alex was talking about for the division and then in
- 32:20Speaker 5: the playoff game too, and he said, like they kicked
- 32:23Speaker 5: my butt, Like I had no answers for this. And
- 32:27Speaker 5: if those types of guys are struggling against that kind
- 32:30Speaker 5: of defense, you know that they're in the lab trying
- 32:32Speaker 5: to figure out solutions.
- 32:33Speaker 1: It's it's made me more invested.
- 32:34Speaker 4: To me, and I know sometimes those games are later, but
- 32:36Speaker 4: to watch those teams because it is it's such a
- 32:38Speaker 4: fascinating chess matchup. Where you know you're playing them twice,
- 32:41Speaker 4: you know you're going to have to deal with that.
- 32:43Speaker 4: It's it's really interesting to me.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Yeah, at some point, you got to be able to
- 32:46Speaker 5: run the ball, Like if they're going to play with
- 32:48Speaker 5: light boxes and they're gonna play with the two high safeties, like,
- 32:50Speaker 5: you have to figure out ways to run the football
- 32:54Speaker 5: like and run them out of those looks. If you
- 32:56Speaker 5: can't do that, then you're getting in like the Patriots
- 32:59Speaker 5: were in the Super Bowl where you're in third and
- 33:00Speaker 5: long all the time, and then you know they're in
- 33:02Speaker 5: dime and they're blitzing, you know, guys from left and
- 33:05Speaker 5: right and it gets chaotic. So I think that that's
- 33:08Speaker 5: really you know, just from a math standpoint, like if
- 33:10Speaker 5: you only have six or seven guys in the box,
- 33:13Speaker 5: like you should be able to run the football and
- 33:14Speaker 5: have the advantage. But their's defensive line is just so
- 33:17Speaker 5: good that they can't run the ball against them. So
- 33:22Speaker 5: it's fun.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Eight five five Pats five hundred is the hotline podcast
- 33:28Speaker 2: at Patriots dot Com. Is the email address. Christian from
- 33:32Speaker 2: Virginia says, good afternoon, Fellas and Alex. The Eagles will
- 33:35Speaker 2: signed Elijah Moore one of AJ Brown's best friends from
- 33:39Speaker 2: his time at Old Miss. Seems like a push for
- 33:41Speaker 2: them to retain them. I think what the Eagles are
- 33:44Speaker 2: asking for him would be in overpay between the sneaky
- 33:47Speaker 2: offseason moves everyone going into their second year in McDaniel's system,
- 33:51Speaker 2: and hopefully a viable tight end. Addition, the Patriots offense
- 33:54Speaker 2: should improve. That being said, Denzel Boston is getting too
- 33:58Speaker 2: much hate and if you fall to thirty one, we
- 34:01Speaker 2: should definitely pick him. Also, Brazil only ever plays on
- 34:05Speaker 2: the right side.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Weird. That happens a lot in college though. Offense.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, how did it work? Go from Marvin Harrison
- 34:13Speaker 3: and Riggie Wayne?
- 34:14Speaker 1: I think it? Uh the Elijah More thing.
- 34:16Speaker 5: I think could go either way because they also signed
- 34:18Speaker 5: Hollywood Brown to a one year contract, so they have
- 34:22Speaker 5: two guys on one year deals and like, to me,
- 34:25Speaker 5: that signals like they might be trading AJ Brown.
- 34:27Speaker 1: I agree with Evan, Yeah, Like.
- 34:28Speaker 5: I understand that they have a relationship, but I just wonder,
- 34:32Speaker 5: like you think you can look at that both ways, Like,
- 34:34Speaker 5: you know, you can look at it the way the
- 34:35Speaker 5: emailer looked at it, or you could say they're kind
- 34:38Speaker 5: of loading up on like you know Bridge receivers one
- 34:41Speaker 5: year deals because maybe they're thinking of trading AJ Brown.
- 34:46Speaker 1: It just doesn't seem like a J Brown, like, oh
- 34:47Speaker 1: you saw my friend. Okay, I'm psyched, let's go.
- 34:51Speaker 3: It seems like too much is gone to put the
- 34:55Speaker 3: toothpaste back into two at this point. But yeah, I
- 34:57Speaker 3: mean the way the emailer described it absolutely could be
- 35:00Speaker 3: possible that if they have a really good relationships as
- 35:04Speaker 3: former teammates, maybe that entices him to stay.
- 35:07Speaker 1: I would I would think I would be dogeful if
- 35:09Speaker 1: you look at MaTx Crosby and I know that.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Was a weird situation, but he's back with the Raiders
- 35:14Speaker 2: and he'll be fine.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I don't want to.
- 35:17Speaker 4: I know people are probably sick of the AJ Brown thing,
- 35:19Speaker 4: but like, are we all still one hundred percent in on.
- 35:20Speaker 1: He's the guy and this is the right move for
- 35:22Speaker 1: the Patriots to make.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Well, it all depends on what you're giving up, you
- 35:25Speaker 3: know this, The emailer says what the Eagles are asking,
- 35:28Speaker 3: which I don't know what that is, but he claims
- 35:31Speaker 3: that's too much. He doesn't want to do it. Some
- 35:33Speaker 3: other people might say, well I would give up that,
- 35:36Speaker 3: you know.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Well, forget about the compensation. Is he the right player
- 35:39Speaker 2: for the Patriots?
- 35:40Speaker 5: I think it depends on what your expectations are.
- 35:44Speaker 2: My expectator would be he's a what your first wide
- 35:46Speaker 2: receiver that draws that other teams have to gain plan for.
- 35:49Speaker 5: Okay, So just I agree, But it was Digs that
- 35:53Speaker 5: to you, because I think they're in similar chapters.
- 35:57Speaker 2: You know, a J.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Brown to me, just watch him. I think he's kind
- 36:01Speaker 5: of lost half a step. That doesn't mean he's not effective, though,
- 36:04Speaker 5: And I think the same thing with Diggs, Like I
- 36:05Speaker 5: don't think Diggs was peak Diggs.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Would you consider Diggs the right player for the team
- 36:11Speaker 2: last year?
- 36:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think that you might get then you
- 36:14Speaker 1: think he is, Yeah, but I yes.
- 36:17Speaker 5: But I also would say, like if you're expecting to
- 36:19Speaker 5: get d aj Brown that was in Tennessee and then
- 36:23Speaker 5: the one that started to you know, in Philly, for
- 36:25Speaker 5: it was like an all Pro, first team, all Pro
- 36:27Speaker 5: caliber receiver like that, that's probably not who he is anymore. So,
- 36:33Speaker 5: like it's it's all about whether you think that that's okay,
- 36:37Speaker 5: Like he's going to be a thousand yard receiver, just
- 36:40Speaker 5: like Diggs was a thousand yard receiver. But it's not
- 36:42Speaker 5: going to be fifteen hundred.
- 36:44Speaker 2: How many receivers in the league would you say is
- 36:48Speaker 2: the team's number one and even when teams game plan
- 36:52Speaker 2: for them, they still are productive only a handful. I
- 36:55Speaker 2: was like, maybe sixteen. If that, oh that's if that
- 36:58Speaker 2: half the Yeah, if that half the teams have a
- 37:01Speaker 2: guy like that.
- 37:02Speaker 3: If that, I would say that, yeah, I mean a
- 37:06Speaker 3: little bit higher on some of these guys. Felger and
- 37:08Speaker 3: maz went through this a couple of weeks ago, and
- 37:11Speaker 3: you know, there's you know, guys that I would absolutely
- 37:13Speaker 3: consider that that. They said, no, he stinks like Ceedee
- 37:16Speaker 3: Lamb as an example, is a number one receiver productive?
- 37:23Speaker 1: I would say that, So.
- 37:25Speaker 5: I care too much about like they like because.
- 37:27Speaker 1: They see one play that that bothers them.
- 37:30Speaker 5: Because it's because Dallas doesn't win. So they get like
- 37:33Speaker 5: they put that on Ceedee Lamb that they always don't win.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Again, I do this way too often. We delve into
- 37:39Speaker 3: the like the psychology of my two boys. But Felger's
- 37:43Speaker 3: ideal receiver is not the you know, the flashy like
- 37:49Speaker 3: Jamar Chase or Justin Jefferson. He'll take those guys because
- 37:53Speaker 3: those guys are so good that he'll take them. But
- 37:55Speaker 3: he wants like the gritty guy that's catching is over
- 38:00Speaker 3: the middle and taking hits and and and you know, like, yeah,
- 38:05Speaker 3: that's that to me is the difference. He would have
- 38:08Speaker 3: taken Wes Welcome over Randy Moss every day of the
- 38:11Speaker 3: week and twice on Sunday, and he would insist that
- 38:14Speaker 3: he's right about it now.
- 38:15Speaker 5: Yeah, but like that Ceedee Lamb, like Ceedee Lamb is
- 38:18Speaker 5: a high volume receiver, Like that's not He's not Alf
- 38:21Speaker 5: Pearce that's catching fifty balls for a thousand yards, Like
- 38:24Speaker 5: he's you know, one hundred plus catch guy. Yeah, routinely.
- 38:28Speaker 5: I just I guess, like you know, probably putting years,
- 38:31Speaker 5: he's a top five receiver in the league.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I don't question it.
- 38:34Speaker 5: That's crazy to think anything other than that.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Yeah, And some of some of the team, like like
- 38:38Speaker 3: that one last year had two of those guys. Cincinnati
- 38:41Speaker 3: has two of those guys. If you ask me, you know,
- 38:44Speaker 3: so I think Fred, you know, would you say sixteen
- 38:48Speaker 3: probably you know.
- 38:49Speaker 1: You know, yeah, ten or twelve anyway, Yep.
- 38:52Speaker 4: I just I think it's we've been talking about it
- 38:54Speaker 4: so much and it's been hovering in the ether. For like,
- 38:57Speaker 4: it feels like five years now of AJ Brown to
- 38:59Speaker 4: the Patriots.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Nothing bothers Mike more than number one receiver talk. Well,
- 39:03Speaker 3: it takes away from his defense.
- 39:05Speaker 4: I want to make sure that he is number one
- 39:06Speaker 4: my receiver, and I don't want to like spend all
- 39:08Speaker 4: this time along back longing for a J.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Brown box and then he gets here and everybody's like
- 39:16Speaker 1: he's not enough anymore. That's it.
- 39:18Speaker 5: Well, you know, narrative, like anybody was saying that because.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Hatreds had gotten Calvin Ridley, would that have been a mistake?
- 39:27Speaker 1: No, I mean Brandon I would have been a mistake.
- 39:29Speaker 1: I was I was going to go to him and
- 39:30Speaker 1: get hurt. Yeah, yes he did. Yeah, Like I mean,
- 39:33Speaker 1: does he still get hurt like that?
- 39:35Speaker 4: That's but there's also things that have come out since
- 39:37Speaker 4: then that they could be Like I don't know if
- 39:38Speaker 4: I'd want to invest.
- 39:39Speaker 5: But he went off the reservation.
- 39:41Speaker 3: I think it's because of San Francisco whatever for whatever.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Maybe it's the station.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Yeah, the electric station.
- 39:47Speaker 6: Don't get me started on the EMS.
- 39:51Speaker 3: That's okay, there for thirty years, all of a sudden,
- 39:54Speaker 3: you know, I feel like.
- 39:55Speaker 7: The Niners had such good chemistry and they all love
- 39:58Speaker 7: like it seems like a really close knit team.
- 39:59Speaker 6: I I think it was like you, I think could he.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Could very.
- 40:04Speaker 5: Like that's not like anybody's fault.
- 40:06Speaker 3: But he may not have gone off the reservation if
- 40:08Speaker 3: he was in Foxborough. Maybe now he might have gone
- 40:11Speaker 3: off the reservation way before. He didn't see Francisco. Yeah,
- 40:14Speaker 3: like there's no way or knowing.
- 40:15Speaker 4: No, I just that that that's what my that's what
- 40:17Speaker 4: my worries that we're putting all these hopes and dreams
- 40:19Speaker 4: on AJ Brown and he's not really that guy anymore.
- 40:21Speaker 4: And a year and a half from now, we're going
- 40:23Speaker 4: to be sitting here saying we still got a draft
- 40:25Speaker 4: that number one guy, you know, and that it probably
- 40:28Speaker 4: will be and could we have been better served of,
- 40:30Speaker 4: you know, drafting somebody at thirty one and developing.
- 40:34Speaker 3: So I would just argue that if AJ Brown came
- 40:36Speaker 3: to the Patriots and hit it out of the park,
- 40:38Speaker 3: you'd still be looking for a number one receiver in
- 40:40Speaker 3: the draft.
- 40:40Speaker 1: In two years.
- 40:41Speaker 3: Yeah, agree, because at some point, like these guys, you know,
- 40:44Speaker 3: they only have so much.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Well, let me put it in terms, you love Paul,
- 40:47Speaker 4: because I was I've been watching a little ninety six
- 40:50Speaker 4: pats And you know, and I'm watching Drew Bledsoe with
- 40:52Speaker 4: his first round rookie Terry Glenn, who he loves and
- 40:55Speaker 4: Chuck in two.
- 40:55Speaker 1: He's got a great tight end in Ben Cots, and
- 40:57Speaker 1: he's got Curtis Martin.
- 40:58Speaker 4: He's and and and in that moment, you're saying, I've
- 41:01Speaker 4: got a rookie wide receiver could be a star.
- 41:03Speaker 1: I've got a third year quarterback who could be a star.
- 41:05Speaker 1: I've got to you know, it's this. I know it
- 41:07Speaker 1: didn't all work out that way, but I think that's
- 41:09Speaker 1: the best place.
- 41:10Speaker 5: You know, what is your what is your faith that
- 41:13Speaker 5: they can identify the receiver faith faith?
- 41:16Speaker 4: So then that faith is that you just you have
- 41:19Speaker 4: to keep doing it, like you know what I mean,
- 41:21Speaker 4: faith at all.
- 41:22Speaker 5: That's the issue is like it's it's all.
- 41:24Speaker 4: But is that real or is that just circumstantial that
- 41:26Speaker 4: you've had multiple different people picking guys and it's just it.
- 41:29Speaker 5: I mean, like Jalen Polk just happened two years ago,
- 41:34Speaker 5: you know, Kyle Williams, why I I think could like
- 41:36Speaker 5: I still holding that hole, but like the rookie year
- 41:39Speaker 5: was not exactly you know, right until they prove that
- 41:43Speaker 5: they can do it, and so that's I think the
- 41:45Speaker 5: part that that is the sticking point to me is
- 41:47Speaker 5: like I my confidence level that they are going to
- 41:51Speaker 5: draft develop identify the right receiver, I.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Have a question, is very low.
- 41:56Speaker 3: These random things that interestingly mean, who do you think
- 41:59Speaker 3: had a better rookie training camp? Jalen Polk?
- 42:03Speaker 1: O kyo wa Jalen Polk all day? Yeah? I think
- 42:06Speaker 1: Jalen Polk too, Yeah, all day he was all over that.
- 42:10Speaker 3: I didn't think either one of them was very good.
- 42:11Speaker 3: But I would say Polk had a better camp than Williams.
- 42:14Speaker 1: I mean, he was active, he called multiple balls in
- 42:16Speaker 1: every practice.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Now that's so that's unfair. I mean, I agree with
- 42:19Speaker 3: both of your assessments.
- 42:20Speaker 1: The one thing about an opportunity.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Polk is catching everything within ten yards of the line
- 42:25Speaker 3: of scrimmage, and Williams is going downfield almost every route
- 42:28Speaker 3: that he's been asked to run.
- 42:29Speaker 1: And Evan would have the average per target a.
- 42:32Speaker 7: Big one too, because Williams came in with a way
- 42:35Speaker 7: more crowded receiver room.
- 42:36Speaker 6: That was the big narrative, like who's going to get
- 42:38Speaker 6: pol right in there?
- 42:40Speaker 4: Is like we want you to got another good you know,
- 42:42Speaker 4: but I just like I can't believe that, Like Ryan
- 42:45Speaker 4: Cowden arrives in Foxborough and all of a sudden.
- 42:47Speaker 1: He's like a ROI receiver. What I don't know how
- 42:49Speaker 1: to draft him? You know, Like I just fet like
- 42:51Speaker 1: is there, like what is it? Like the Waters say
- 42:53Speaker 1: it like that.
- 42:57Speaker 4: It's a literal curse, Like didn't Elliott Wall draft some
- 42:59Speaker 4: good receive Green Bay?
- 43:01Speaker 1: I mean, like are we giving him credit for things
- 43:03Speaker 1: that his father did? Like?
- 43:05Speaker 4: But but no, he didn't keep the season in charge of.
- 43:09Speaker 1: So I don't know. I mean, it's some guys.
- 43:14Speaker 5: I'm trying to agree with you, but like.
- 43:17Speaker 1: You don't you don't have evidence.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't like dismiss a position because you haven't
- 43:22Speaker 3: had success.
- 43:23Speaker 1: No, absolutely not.
- 43:24Speaker 5: But like Kyle Williams, I think has one thing going
- 43:26Speaker 5: for him and that he has like a special trade.
- 43:28Speaker 5: His speed is like a special thing. I don't know
- 43:31Speaker 5: what ja Jail Polks was supposed to be his hands
- 43:33Speaker 5: and best hands in the league and that did not
- 43:35Speaker 5: go so well. So like maybe Kyle Williams has a way,
- 43:38Speaker 5: you know, a path because of his explosiveness and his
- 43:41Speaker 5: speed to at least have a role in the offense.
- 43:46Speaker 5: But I I just until they hit on a receiver,
- 43:49Speaker 5: it's gonna be hard to buy into the fact that
- 43:51Speaker 5: that's how it's gonna get done is by drafting a
- 43:53Speaker 5: guy and going that route, especially at thirty one. Like
- 43:56Speaker 5: if we were talking about them picking high again and
- 43:59Speaker 5: they were taking you know, a Jamar Chase or something
- 44:03Speaker 5: like that, then it would be like, okay, like you
- 44:05Speaker 5: can't miss miss.
- 44:06Speaker 1: On that, So maybe you give them some credit for that.
- 44:08Speaker 1: A lot of these.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Guys who are those elite bid receivers are just you're
- 44:11Speaker 4: in a top five pick that year and that guy
- 44:13Speaker 4: fell in your lap, and congratulations.
- 44:15Speaker 3: I would say, but I would say that that's happening Jefferson.
- 44:20Speaker 1: But if there's only like.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Sixteen of them, fred and Freddy would identify justin Jefferson,
- 44:25Speaker 3: how hard could it be?
- 44:27Speaker 5: I would say that, ith, that's happening less and less
- 44:30Speaker 5: because I think that.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I think the position is being valued more.
- 44:33Speaker 5: In positions getting valued more, Maybe they're getting a little
- 44:36Speaker 5: bit better at evaluating it. You know, out of the
- 44:38Speaker 5: draft there's a fewer like Terry mclaurin's right, like that
- 44:43Speaker 5: are making it. You know that I don't think that's
- 44:45Speaker 5: truly happening quite as much anymore because these guys just
- 44:48Speaker 5: fly off the board.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean.
- 44:53Speaker 3: There are always exceptions like Puka, But I think I
- 44:56Speaker 3: think that what you just touched on and I don't
- 44:58Speaker 3: have this is anecdotal. You know, a guy like Belichick
- 45:01Speaker 3: would always tell you, you know, most guys aren't that important.
- 45:04Speaker 3: And I think there are more evan tightepants, younger offensive
- 45:08Speaker 3: minded guys around the league that do think that that
- 45:10Speaker 3: position is really important. And that's why I think they're
- 45:14Speaker 3: starting to go a little bit earlier in the draft
- 45:16Speaker 3: than they than they once did. But Bill would have waited,
- 45:19Speaker 3: you can win with other guys. You don't need, you
- 45:21Speaker 3: don't need the shiny object. Now pretty much every one
- 45:23Speaker 3: of the teams that has, you know, like you know,
- 45:26Speaker 3: the Eagles had AJ.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Brown and Devonte Smith two years ago.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Obviously, the Seahawks had JSN Like it used to be,
- 45:33Speaker 3: like those guys don't win the title, you know again,
- 45:36Speaker 3: back to my boy Felger Randy Moss failure because you
- 45:38Speaker 3: didn't win the Super Bowl, you know, because they came
- 45:41Speaker 3: seventeen seconds away from going nineteen to zero with him
- 45:44Speaker 3: being a record setting wide.
- 45:46Speaker 5: Receivers for twenty years.
- 45:47Speaker 1: You can't win like that. Yeah, of course you could
- 45:50Speaker 1: win like that. They did.
- 45:52Speaker 3: You know, they went they lost the last game through
- 45:56Speaker 3: no fault of by the way, the guy who put
- 45:58Speaker 3: them ahead with the game with the go ahead.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Touchdown almost caught them. What would have been a mail.
- 46:03Speaker 5: Mary Crown talk about that.
- 46:04Speaker 3: But I mean it's just look in recent years now
- 46:07Speaker 3: the teams that are winning, and there's all different ways
- 46:10Speaker 3: to win, and it's cyclical. But you know you they
- 46:12Speaker 3: used to say, like, if you have one of those
- 46:13Speaker 3: number one DIVA receivers, you can't win. Well, teams have
- 46:17Speaker 3: found a way to win in recent years.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Well, do you feel that expectations are going to be
- 46:20Speaker 1: too high for a J? Brown though? If he comes here?
- 46:22Speaker 1: Like do you think that the fan base?
- 46:23Speaker 5: That's up to you, Mike, whatever you have, But I
- 46:25Speaker 5: think that the flame and what they trade for him,
- 46:27Speaker 5: Like if they trade their twenty twenty seven first round pick,
- 46:30Speaker 5: right then, yeah, But if they get a deal and
- 46:32Speaker 5: it's a second and a fourth, I mean I go
- 46:35Speaker 5: back to would you I would do that for Yeah,
- 46:38Speaker 5: it's the second and a fourth, Yeah, I consider it.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I consider it. I mean they still have Chisholm times
- 46:46Speaker 1: of hard bargain over there. I consider it.
- 46:48Speaker 3: It's probably going to cost you a first, but he
- 46:50Speaker 3: consider a second and a four.
- 46:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the first scares me. I mean, I
- 46:53Speaker 4: think that's what this all kind of boils down to.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Is it going to be worth the first.
- 46:57Speaker 4: And especially where you're looking at future ass that's as
- 47:00Speaker 4: Evan laid out last show. You know, I think this
- 47:03Speaker 4: is going to be a higher pick probably next year
- 47:05Speaker 4: in all likelihood.
- 47:06Speaker 1: So you're you know, that's a big that's a lot.
- 47:08Speaker 1: That's a lot to give up, and.
- 47:09Speaker 5: I think at twenty twenty seven first is a lot
- 47:11Speaker 5: to get.
- 47:12Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, till June and you would talking about twenty
- 47:17Speaker 3: seven picks, then I would go with the second round theory.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I agree with you.
- 47:21Speaker 5: Yes, I think it's really hard to commit to giving
- 47:24Speaker 5: up a twenty twenty seven first when you don't know
- 47:26Speaker 5: when that first that pick is going to be, Like
- 47:29Speaker 5: you're hoping it's low in the round, Drake may gets hurt.
- 47:33Speaker 5: It's not going to be low in the round, right, So,
- 47:35Speaker 5: like you know, I think that that's a it's a
- 47:38Speaker 5: it's a tough one that I think is bargaining for
- 47:41Speaker 5: Elliott Wolf to be like, well, if we had done
- 47:44Speaker 5: this before, you were getting the thirty first pick, we
- 47:47Speaker 5: felt comfortable with that.
- 47:49Speaker 1: We don't get feel common.
- 47:50Speaker 5: You can't put pick protections in an NFL trade like
- 47:52Speaker 5: you can in the NBA. So like you're we could
- 47:55Speaker 5: have the number one overall Pick're like for all we know? Right,
- 47:58Speaker 5: Like you know, anything's possible. That's what I would be saying.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Dustin writes in on podcasts at Patriots dot Com.
- 48:07Speaker 2: I'm sitting here at work taking a trip down memory
- 48:09Speaker 2: lane Drake May's rookie season. To be exact, Living in
- 48:14Speaker 2: Illinois is tough for a Patriots fan, as we never
- 48:16Speaker 2: really get to see our boys in action unless it's
- 48:18Speaker 2: a chance of a Bears home game every other year. Well,
- 48:21Speaker 2: I was lucky enough to be there November tenth of
- 48:23Speaker 2: the twenty four season. Watching the defense dominate poor Caleb
- 48:26Speaker 2: Williams was absolutely amazing, and I will never forget taking
- 48:30Speaker 2: that undefeated home streak of eight to zero away from
- 48:33Speaker 2: them with the poorest score of nineteen to three. It
- 48:36Speaker 2: was a great drive home and I can't wait to
- 48:38Speaker 2: see them dominate again this year.
- 48:40Speaker 5: That was a fun game that was one of the
- 48:42Speaker 5: few five turn over some what'd they have? It was
- 48:44Speaker 5: a stacked in the nine nine sacks. Carl's favorite package,
- 48:48Speaker 5: the Longhorn package with Brendan Skull schoolers worked around.
- 48:53Speaker 1: No, that was that was.
- 48:56Speaker 5: I know, the Cincinnati game in Week one kind of
- 48:59Speaker 5: gets propped up a little bit. But that Bears game
- 49:01Speaker 5: was a fun game that they They played well that
- 49:05Speaker 5: day at least defense.
- 49:06Speaker 1: There weren't a lot of wins, but yeah, it's a
- 49:08Speaker 1: good one.
- 49:08Speaker 3: I don't really understand the whole undefeated thing though, Like
- 49:11Speaker 3: Chicago stunk that they lost like the lot you know,
- 49:16Speaker 3: they lost that Hail Mary game in Washington. Then they
- 49:18Speaker 3: didn't win again like until I think they maybe won
- 49:20Speaker 3: the last game of the year.
- 49:21Speaker 1: But that was a tough year for Chicago.
- 49:24Speaker 2: All right, A five to five Pats five hundred. We
- 49:28Speaker 2: mentioned the word wide receiver or the position, and Eldred
- 49:32Speaker 2: is on the phone.
- 49:32Speaker 1: What's up? Eldred? The bat signal?
- 49:35Speaker 9: Yeah, what's up? Yeah? I wish I was doing blewing
- 49:40Speaker 9: my home again, but I've been off for a minute.
- 49:43Speaker 9: But hey, I got a question for you for the panel.
- 49:47Speaker 9: Who came from Nick Cattle's from Locked on Patriots, and
- 49:52Speaker 9: he got it from Greg Bernard that they don't want
- 49:54Speaker 9: to do the A. J. Brown, so you think they
- 49:56Speaker 9: don't need him. But he also heard it in the office,
- 50:00Speaker 9: which is uh, I guess to come out to the
- 50:01Speaker 9: coach's office. They think they find it wide receiver what
- 50:04Speaker 9: they have now and how do you feel about that?
- 50:08Speaker 9: And Evan, I loved to show yesterday, but I got
- 50:14Speaker 9: a bone to pick with youre bro Brods got better
- 50:16Speaker 9: hands than Boston and he didn't run that because he
- 50:20Speaker 9: were running full six five at the combine, so that's
- 50:23Speaker 9: why he didn't run it. And no, give me brows
- 50:26Speaker 9: at thirty one. And I'm just like you. I'll flip
- 50:28Speaker 9: a flip a wig and go by the jersey at
- 50:30Speaker 9: the same minute as soon as they get him. But uh,
- 50:34Speaker 9: A J. Brown next year they want a first in
- 50:36Speaker 9: a second, I guarantee you, because if they got a first,
- 50:40Speaker 9: suck it in a thirty for Water or fourth. They
- 50:42Speaker 9: gonna want the thing for him, even though Water is
- 50:44Speaker 9: youngle and I think it's too high. Get your receiver,
- 50:47Speaker 9: And I agree with Evans. I'm afraid of them drafting
- 50:50Speaker 9: one because they ain't showed yet. And I take it
- 50:52Speaker 9: off the air.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Thank you, all right, thanks Eldred.
- 50:57Speaker 5: What was probably the one thing Boston's better at his hands.
- 51:01Speaker 5: He's got probably the best set of hands in this
- 51:03Speaker 5: class at that position.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I like him.
- 51:05Speaker 5: I like just everything I know.
- 51:06Speaker 4: I know, I feel like I'm I'm gonna take a
- 51:09Speaker 4: lot of crap for that one, but I feel like
- 51:11Speaker 4: I just like that kid. I mean, it's just reliable guy.
- 51:14Speaker 4: Do we get too obsessed with speed?
- 51:16Speaker 10: You know?
- 51:17Speaker 4: Is it kind of guy who can be his outlet
- 51:19Speaker 4: and you know, pick up that those short to intermediate
- 51:22Speaker 4: routes and you know, third downs and just it seems
- 51:25Speaker 4: to me and I've evolved, like I used to be
- 51:28Speaker 4: looking at all those slot receivers, it doesn't seem like
- 51:30Speaker 4: that's Drake's jam.
- 51:31Speaker 1: I want, you know, bigger possession guys. But at what
- 51:34Speaker 1: cost the speed? That's the trade off with those guys.
- 51:37Speaker 5: I quit the Denzel Boston's after nik Kill Harry I said,
- 51:42Speaker 5: I've never I've never fallen for the banana and the tails.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Who went to Jalen Polk school. You know, it's not
- 51:48Speaker 1: never great. It's not like pointing in the right direction,
- 51:50Speaker 1: But I just I like how we plays. I have Alex,
- 51:54Speaker 1: I can still talk about regular stuff.
- 51:55Speaker 5: With great hands, great body control, great contested catchability, hands
- 52:01Speaker 5: catching translates like guys that catch the ball away from
- 52:04Speaker 5: their bodies and have catch radiuses. And you know, that's
- 52:07Speaker 5: what all the best receivers in football do. Like everybody
- 52:10Speaker 5: has to deal with contact and coverage the NFL, like
- 52:13Speaker 5: Christian Gonzal is gonna be in your hip pocket. Yeah right,
- 52:15Speaker 5: that's that's gonna happen. So you know what I like
- 52:18Speaker 5: about Denzel Boston is that Drake May has the accuracy
- 52:22Speaker 5: down the field to throw him open. So when he's
- 52:24Speaker 5: sitting on a corner and he sees, okay, I can
- 52:26Speaker 5: throw the back shoulder here, I could throw it up
- 52:29Speaker 5: to him like he's going to be able to throw it,
- 52:31Speaker 5: you know, through the keyhole and put it right where
- 52:34Speaker 5: Denzel Boston's gonna be able to catch it. And Boston's
- 52:36Speaker 5: got great hands, great body control to do that.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Brad's in Ohio. What's up, Brad?
- 52:42Speaker 8: Hello, Krew?
- 52:43Speaker 11: How's it going this afternoon?
- 52:45Speaker 1: Okay?
- 52:46Speaker 11: Good, good to see you got a little free times.
- 52:49Speaker 11: So I just wanted to reiterate them things and forgive me,
- 52:54Speaker 11: I don't have to rest the drone. But i'mat some
- 52:57Speaker 11: things from the last show where I called, and uh,
- 53:01Speaker 11: Evan wasn't there and Deuce wasn't there, and I know
- 53:04Speaker 11: they know about the draft, so.
- 53:06Speaker 8: Uh, first of all.
- 53:07Speaker 11: I want to first, do you guys ever get to
- 53:10Speaker 11: ask questions to like the Scalps, people that actually choose
- 53:15Speaker 11: the players.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Yeah, all the time they come to us.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Now I wish well, I mean, you know, no, they
- 53:22Speaker 2: don't make them available to the present.
- 53:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:26Speaker 11: Well, I was wondered about because you know, we had
- 53:28Speaker 11: talked about. I heard Evan when I got a chance
- 53:31Speaker 11: to see the you know, yesterday's show. Uh, he was
- 53:35Speaker 11: talking about Marlon Klein, and I'm a Michigan guy. I remember,
- 53:38Speaker 11: I you know, I know these players. And Marlin Klein
- 53:43Speaker 11: is a good receiving hands, tight end, good receiver for
- 53:48Speaker 11: a big guy. Though one of the things he struggled
- 53:50Speaker 11: with is inline blocking.
- 53:52Speaker 9: So he's good at slot blocking.
- 53:54Speaker 11: He could have probably blocked that guy from Seattle that
- 53:57Speaker 11: we played against in the slot.
- 53:58Speaker 9: But if he put him.
- 53:59Speaker 11: On the end against the defensive end, not all that strong,
- 54:04Speaker 11: So okay.
- 54:06Speaker 5: Let's not draft him that. But is he not that strong?
- 54:08Speaker 5: Brad or I mean he Marlon Klein uh is from Germany. Uh,
- 54:13Speaker 5: he's a German born prospect. He's very very late to
- 54:17Speaker 5: American football. So like I thanks Brad. I think he's
- 54:22Speaker 5: a pretty strong kid. I think he just needs technique
- 54:26Speaker 5: work because he's new to the sport. Like he literally
- 54:29Speaker 5: just hasn't been playing the sport for that long. H
- 54:31Speaker 5: So you know he's to college Michigan, Michigan, but he's
- 54:35Speaker 5: German born. I I meant to run that tell maybe
- 54:38Speaker 5: we should. I meant to tell our people about that.
- 54:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I would be curious to just volmar about him
- 54:46Speaker 3: the way the way he talked about him. You know,
- 54:48Speaker 3: like you know in line, you know struggle, so you're
- 54:51Speaker 3: talking about he would struggle to block a defensive end
- 54:55Speaker 3: in past protection or you're trying to get the run
- 54:58Speaker 3: game going, he can't block. Yeah, it's a end. Like
- 55:00Speaker 3: to me, those are two very different.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Run game stuff.
- 55:03Speaker 2: You know.
- 55:04Speaker 5: I think that he's raw because he's just late to
- 55:07Speaker 5: the sport. He I think he probably moved here in
- 55:09Speaker 5: high school maybe, and you know, like he hasn't. He's
- 55:12Speaker 5: not one of these guys that was playing Pop Warner
- 55:14Speaker 5: you know at nine years old. Right, So he's just
- 55:17Speaker 5: got a little bit of ways to go from a
- 55:19Speaker 5: technique standpoint, but he's you know, six four two fifty
- 55:23Speaker 5: ran a four to six and the forty yard dash.
- 55:25Speaker 5: Can you can see the receiving skills. He's a fun
- 55:28Speaker 5: Day three guy that you know because of his upside,
- 55:32Speaker 5: and we'll see, you know, if they can develop him
- 55:34Speaker 5: technique wise.

- 1:00:30Speaker 16: from Patriots touchdown.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: It's amazing what they've been able to do in New England.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: Locked the BA right its coron like Kyle.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Lambs speaks to get White simon your zone.
- 1:00:39Speaker 16: Touchdown this man, they can't cover us. That's a hard
- 1:00:47Speaker 16: grows open God touched down the hat trick for Henderson.
- 1:00:52Speaker 16: Black girl will go on and he thought up he's
- 1:00:55Speaker 16: a Bok six yourkest Jones.
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: Patriots are gonna get their ten win.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I mean this is a complete team. They're playing great
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: special team.
- 1:01:03Speaker 16: Dude House touchdown, Patriots blots.
- 1:01:08Speaker 20: Dart's gonna go and get Pops, get gets your time.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: And this is different around here. I mean he is
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: a different head coach.
- 1:01:20Speaker 16: Tell Us I appreciate you, man.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: You took the message and you were willing.
- 1:01:23Speaker 21: To go and be a champion from front.
- 1:01:25Speaker 22: Hey, I love the brotherhood in here and all right
- 1:01:27Speaker 22: with any of y'all any day, all right, So I
- 1:01:29Speaker 22: love you guys.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: I appreciate you, guys.
- 1:01:31Speaker 16: Hey pass out three watching three guys.
- 1:01:42Speaker 20: Why first night of Point in Baltimore, Maryland, thirty three degree.
- 1:02:04Speaker 20: It's at M and G Fakes Stadium, Oh with a
- 1:02:08Speaker 20: two times super Bowl champion Baltimore for ratedness.
- 1:02:12Speaker 23: Is Drake made ready for a super Bowl run.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: We're gonna know a lot more after this one.
- 1:02:16Speaker 21: We talked about everything we gotta do, and everything we
- 1:02:19Speaker 21: need is all right here, right. We got the talent, man,
- 1:02:23Speaker 21: we got the resolve. Right, they're gonna hit a player two.
- 1:02:26Speaker 21: We got the dissolve in here, all right. Everything you've
- 1:02:30Speaker 21: got sixty minutes for each other and there's nothing else.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: You're never out of the play. The play is never over.
- 1:02:37Speaker 21: Okay.
- 1:02:37Speaker 18: I understand, fellows. You're gonna need some technique along the way.
- 1:02:40Speaker 18: It's a street fighting. We're not walking into the quit.
- 1:02:42Speaker 18: You need some technique and fundamental of them all the way.
- 1:02:45Speaker 18: Figure out some details to help you do your job
- 1:02:47Speaker 18: and as always, make great decisions, the one that are
- 1:02:50Speaker 18: gonna help us win. Stick together no matter what happens.
- 1:02:53Speaker 18: But have a belief that as this thing goes, you're
- 1:02:55Speaker 18: gonna make.
- 1:02:56Speaker 21: The play whenever.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Every sure part these games are important.
- 1:02:58Speaker 20: The Buffalo game, there is a let you the second
- 1:03:00Speaker 20: up this game against a Baltimore team that needs to
- 1:03:03Speaker 20: really big test on their way.
- 1:03:05Speaker 21: Hopefully to the players.
- 1:03:07Speaker 24: When you come off back to back seasons where you
- 1:03:09Speaker 24: totaled eight wins and now to be sitting here saying, hey,
- 1:03:13Speaker 24: we control our role into winning our division and hosting
- 1:03:17Speaker 24: a playoff game. I think that's where anybody would have
- 1:03:20Speaker 24: signed up for, you know, dating back to August. So
- 1:03:23Speaker 24: I think for the Patriots, it's all about how do
- 1:03:25Speaker 24: we play our best in those big moments. That's what
- 1:03:27Speaker 24: they'll have to learn how to do, and you know
- 1:03:29Speaker 24: you they'll get great practice, I think leading off these
- 1:03:31Speaker 24: last three games. So if you treat them like playoff
- 1:03:34Speaker 24: games getting into the playoffs, you just keep that same
- 1:03:37Speaker 24: mentality and keep it rolling.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: We still got home, bro, we still got tom. I
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: like these type of dame. Find out what you made
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: of Thanks.
- 1:03:48Speaker 19: Joy put Indiana, let's go really bad.
- 1:03:55Speaker 25: A touchdown.
- 1:03:58Speaker 16: Game on that bultimate.
- 1:04:06Speaker 12: Hey aldah, we kind of dig deep.
- 1:04:08Speaker 16: Now come to handle the time, man, booo react book
- 1:04:12Speaker 16: burriac hey, finde away, he's out, come home fine away
- 1:04:17Speaker 16: you a promise ship, come.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: On any steam it to eet in second.
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: Pray steep me to.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: Still.
- 1:04:30Speaker 21: Don't do England.
- 1:04:33Speaker 20: New England has erased a double digit deficity.
- 1:04:36Speaker 21: You do that right out a great come on, come
- 1:04:41Speaker 21: on mo come mama. I thought you're right. I thought
- 1:04:45Speaker 21: you go that.
- 1:04:46Speaker 22: No, you're lighting a stop. That's all we gotta do.
- 1:04:50Speaker 22: So we gotta do get a stop? What are you
- 1:04:53Speaker 22: talking about in a two minutes? Right, Hey, it's your time.
- 1:04:56Speaker 22: Let's go look at Wow.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: That's son.
- 1:05:05Speaker 20: You can't.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Tell God you enough? Man, I tell you, Man, I
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: tell you many.
- 1:05:18Speaker 22: Oh man, I'll find your rolley.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: Bro.
- 1:05:22Speaker 23: Some teams desperately need a win. Maybe the Patriots needed
- 1:05:26Speaker 23: a loss. Just had to wonder how much did they
- 1:05:29Speaker 23: learn from that experience in Buffalo or against the Bills
- 1:05:34Speaker 23: that have helped them here in this one to night.
- 1:05:36Speaker 23: It's a young team, they're growing, they're learning. Mike Brabel
- 1:05:39Speaker 23: didn't go crazy on him. He's like, let's just learn
- 1:05:42Speaker 23: from it, and I think.
- 1:05:43Speaker 20: They have and Mike Rabel's first year leading the Pets
- 1:05:47Speaker 20: New England well be a part of the tournament.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: But Patriots put a playoff.
- 1:05:52Speaker 10: Ward gay fell for the next five hours and let's
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: call it fifteen minutes, Okay, for the next five hours
- 1:06:05Speaker 10: and fifteen minutes.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I need your best.
- 1:06:07Speaker 16: Okay, the team needs.
- 1:06:09Speaker 10: Your best because we can make this schedule this week
- 1:06:11Speaker 10: work and you guys can enjoy Christmas Eve, you can
- 1:06:14Speaker 10: enjoy Christmas Day. I think that you've earned that. But
- 1:06:17Speaker 10: we've got to get the next two days and starting
- 1:06:19Speaker 10: with the next five hours, we've got to get this
- 1:06:22Speaker 10: nailed out.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: And now great moments in history.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: Week four matchup with the Carolina Panthers. It's Evan Paul, myself,
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: Duce Alex is here because it's picks day and she
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: needs her flowers. I was gone, she needs her flowers
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Every Thursday.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: You have to play with the stick. It's a it's
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: a yeah, it's a bit. Yeah, it's a bit. She
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: has some company at the this week, though, does she
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: We'll find that out later in the show.
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: You're fishing for compliments right now.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Wow, I like it. Okay, I didn't go the way
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Fred dot But you know, for me, it's no big thing.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: All right back here and Patriots have filtered a five
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: to five past five hundred podcasts at patriots dot com

- 1:07:27Speaker 2: to the PU newsletter, which comes out tomorrow by going
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: to patriots dot com slash PU Newsletter.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: So easy to do. I think she's to sign up
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: over the great moment.
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: I puting because there's never any flowers here for me.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: The flowers are verbal.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: You you young kids don't figure getting your flowers verbally?
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: What the kids say?

- 1:07:56Speaker 7: Yeah, well, I like some flowers for future flowers on
- 1:08:00Speaker 7: flowers noted hydrangers pianist.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Oh okay, yeah you're talking to the right person. Yeah,

- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Who are these flowers for?
- 1:08:16Speaker 9: Right?
- 1:08:19Speaker 21: Oh?
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, your wife's calling the HR department.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Quick story.
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: I left out today my anniversary my nineteenth wedding anniversaries
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: on Tuesday, and I like, got my wife this like
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: pretty cool thing. I thought I had to over order
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: it from overseas though nothing nothing big, like we always
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: just you know, each anniversary has like paper copper, it's
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: like a material, so we just do something cheap within
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: that range, not necessarily cheap, but I found her a
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: great thing.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: But it was like stuck in like customs for like
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: two weeks, just sitting there and like it's Tuesday, I
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: still don't have it.
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: Thanks, And then finally today I got the email that
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: it's somehow went through Jamaica, but now it's it was Ukraine.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: I know, it's like it's in key. If you come
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: like that's that's not good. But it's going to be
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: here Saturday, so I hope it is okay. I don't
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: want to ruin I don't want to ruin the president.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: I was gonna have to go out to like Walmart
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: and get something like at least some chocolates in a
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: card to like supple and be like it'll be here sometime.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: I think as soon as the war. And you don't celebrate.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: We celebrate them, but we usually just go out to dinner.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: That's what very small.
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: I mean ours just like fifty bucks, like you get
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: a little like piece of jewelry or you know, something
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: like that with them.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: I'm already I'm already being told ideas for our one
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: year anniversary, and I were still months away from it,
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: and I'm like, you've got this on your mind already July.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, yeah, what's your what's the first year? I
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: wonder what let's look? Yeah, I don't for me, congratulate, sir.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: That's a good one, good number five random things.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Speaking of random things, I was I was just thinking
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: of you knows the letter W. Shouldn't it be called
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: double v?
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Oh? That's definitely Stephen Wright's rendive.
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: It's rounded. Oh okay, I get what came first print? Cursive?
- 1:10:02Speaker 9: Right right?
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: So it's rounded?
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, did you learn cursive? You guys?
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: I think, but we, like I think we were the cutoff.
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: We were probably the last the Mohicans.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Could you write a cursive queue right now?
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: No?
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I could write my name and cursive because I.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Had a hard time doing a queue period. It's like
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: a backwards it's a weird it's a weird one.
- 1:10:22Speaker 24: I know.
- 1:10:24Speaker 6: I still write in cursive, honestly.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Like half when when we had writing, you know, we
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: did it in pencil back then, and you have the
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: yellow paper with the lines. And since I'm a lefty,
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: I get lead all over your hand.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Me too fair for you guys, did you have like
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: you got to use the one desk that was the
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: left handed desk? Did you have those? The world set
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: up for a righty there was no accommodations. Maybe that
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: both you guys are left handed.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: I mean I'm so old that when I was in
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: grade school the desks had ink wells that hold to
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: put the inking?
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, did.
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: Like do you eat with your left hand? Like like
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: you're always bumping people at the.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Table because because idiot for tennis left.
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: My sister is a lefty too, and like so we'd
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: always put her at like the end of the table
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: because she's always.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: Be Everybody always would say that up at the end
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: because you're lefty. Never really, did you ever have any
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: issues with that? I've never had.
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: My step mom has the issue that all the time,
- 1:11:26Speaker 6: Like half of it is.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Just teaser being left when you how would you cut up?
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Let me see how you would hold what hand would
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: you hold a fork? And what hand would you hold
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: the night?
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: I hold the fork with my right hand and I
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: cut with my left hand.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: So that's why it's never been an issue with me.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: I guess I cut my I used to cut the
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: knife in the right hand. I think, yeah, but we're righty.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: That makes sense. Yeah, I'm lefty, all right, So you're
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: the word one.
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: They say lefties are more creative.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: They do say that, really, they do say that because
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: me and my sister are the opposite.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: She's like the book smart, you know, school smart person,
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: and I'm the writer.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: So I think that your.
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: Creative compared to my sister.
- 1:12:05Speaker 21: Yeah, I was joking.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: My sister is like marketing. I have concepts, I break
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: down there's actually someone.
- 1:12:17Speaker 7: This is and O's are kind of really analytical too,
- 1:12:19Speaker 7: Like the nature of your writing, how creative is it?
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: I mean, like I was probably supposed to be an accountant,
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: if we're being honest, and like I just like do
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: I just do like sports. It's just in like a
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: different it's repackaged in a different way.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Sports average target sports. Okay, right, that's the that's the phrase, right,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: I know that, But little a little lesson. I'm not
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: talking right now. I'm talking to the ball man zone
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: beater on the front side, but on the backside of
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: man beers robber Robert. Wow, It's like, what are we doing?
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: I'm the one that started it with the w that's
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: but that's true. It's it's like two v's.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I guess cursive w is round it? Yeah,
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: cursive sure is like when not now when I write, like,
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: it's a mix. Yeah, me too, you know it's a
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: mix of cursive.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: And and what do they call it printing? Print?
- 1:13:21Speaker 7: Yea, even with ease Like some I'll write a sentence
- 1:13:25Speaker 7: that has multiple e's, there will be some ease that
- 1:13:27Speaker 7: are printed and some that are It depends on the
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: letter that's before it.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: It's so weird all that work and now it's.
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: Just yeah, I know, it's kind of sad, is it.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Did you really do a lot of work to learn cursive?
- 1:13:40Speaker 21: Well?
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: I mean I remember I spend a lot of time
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: in school.
- 1:13:44Speaker 6: Yeah, they were like you need to learn this, but
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: else you're not going to be.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: Told that you needed to learn like algebra that are useless,
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: not basic finances though, yeah.
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: Right, like that would have been helpful, but instead I
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: was learning calculus I took that high school I took
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: in my senior year was like a like basics to
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: like life, you know, like what's a mortgage, what's this,
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: what's the you know that type of stuff?
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: What's interest that's a good credit that how to you know,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: avoid credit card?
- 1:14:16Speaker 7: I don't want you to learn that could have taken
- 1:14:19Speaker 7: student loans.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Maybe I get more than three hours sleep.
- 1:14:25Speaker 6: People are concerned. I've had a lot of people reaching people.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: People have been all over.
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: Reached out to me after the last night.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: But basically because you know they're they're right to be concerned.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: Yeah, people people wanted another option in the polling, uh
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: when it was talking about your health, because I think
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: it was just a yes no answer and they wanted
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: to be able to write.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: So I missed. I missed the poll. Yeah, I didn't
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: realize that.
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: Paul's questions about sleep, Are you concerned.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: About what the I don't know what.
- 1:15:00Speaker 7: We'll find out today, we'll find out tomorrow.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: There, I missed the poll.
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: I think it's funny that that's what, like, what keeps
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: me up at night is.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: Even more useless than cover three. Yeah, this is useless.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: This is real. It's like I wonder.
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: Where my Paul's deal with some real life stuff.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: Mine paycheck to paycheck.
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: I'm trying to think of player comps right for like
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: the wide receivers.
- 1:15:26Speaker 6: And the crap.
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: Last night, I'm like trying to think of, like, all right, who,
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: Like I'm going through the names and I'm just like, oh, man,
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: Like I can't like it's I feel like I can
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: see it, but I can't get the name. And so
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: then I had to get my phone out because I
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: really was bugging the crap out of.
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: The newsletter question this week.
- 1:15:45Speaker 7: We won't spoil it, but like, what's the biggest problem
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: you're dealing with in your life right now?
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: Different trying to keep Cayden and Caleb Procter.
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: No, that was I swear last night because I was,
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: you know, I like to put I like to comps.
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: I think it's good. And I was trying to think
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: of a comp for Jordan Tyson and like I can
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: see it in my head, you know, like I know
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: how he plays and who he I think he is,
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: and I'm just like, who is this guy? And so
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: I literally took my phone out at like twelve thirty.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: I was looking at some stuff yesterday and I forget
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: who the guy was. I think it was one of
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: the linebackers, and there was you know, like you sometimes
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: you go on the various sites like draft Buzz or
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: NFL dot com and they'll have the little Scott Reports,
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: and some of them will have like an NFL comparison
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: the guy that this guy was compared to. I had
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: never heard that name in my life, and I couldn't
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: even give it back. It was so unfamiliar to me.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: I couldn't even remember what it is.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Now. I'll have to go and see if I can
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: find it worth.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: The point of a comp is time, and I get
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: it because they are tough because inevitably you're comparing him
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: to a guy that everybody knows, and you're like, oh,
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: he's like, that's not what they're saying, you know, like
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: wide receiver is comparison is justin Jefferson, whoa they got.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Just no, like they're just staying there, just size his traits,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: you know, it doesn't mean he's going to be his
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: productive Yeah, it's an undrafted justice.
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: It's the hardest part because like you're you're comping that.
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: It's a stylistic comparison. It's not a career. And so like,
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: you know, the one that's been driving me nuts in
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: particular is Brazzle because like the guy that he looks like.
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: I said, I would never compare anybody to Randy Moss, right,
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: But when you watch him play like he's this six
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: foot four long, striding, vertical threat receiver and it's like, okay, well,
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: like who else is really like that that people would know?
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: You know, but you can't do that.
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: Like I saw Denzel Boston, somebody camped him to Puka
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: and I'm like, I mean, okay, Like he's just going
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: to be the best receiver in football.
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: That's a perfect example, you know, because he has sort
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: of size and physicality or whatever. That's why someone's making
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: that compare. That doesn't mean they think he's going to
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: be Pooka, but that's what happens when you do this stuff,
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: and when you you know, you do the comparisons, people
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: get excited because you're thinking, oh, you're saying he's the
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: next Pooka.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: No, it's only one of those. He's like a first
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: round Pooka.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: Yeah, David Main writes him, I mean he's going to
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: be better exactly David Maine. Random question for the panel.
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: How many of the players on the team would you
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: say live in New England full time? When I hear
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: about players going home for the summer, it always seemed
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: weird to me. If I had a job that paid
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: a million dollars a year. I think I would move
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: my whole family there full time, even if I had
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: a little job security. Can you name any players that
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: now call Boston home.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: Hunter, Henry Hunter, Henry current current players.
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: I think Draken and Michael stay up here a lot. Yeah,
- 1:18:51Speaker 7: David Andrews made this as well. I'm going to say
- 1:18:54Speaker 7: tough because in the off season they do a lot
- 1:18:56Speaker 7: of training, so it's like you go to Florida or
- 1:18:59Speaker 7: Arizona and well also they wanted they spend so much
- 1:19:02Speaker 7: time away from their families and stuff.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: But think about it, like if you do have a
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: family and you're in sports, like you may only be
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: there at that team for two years, so do you
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: really want to sell your house buy a new house.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: And the players, like, you know, especially the younger ones,
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: they may not be married, so like their family you
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: know is basically their parents or their siblings, so they
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: would want to go, Like they're not going to bring
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: all of them to New England.
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: It's it's different for like Morgan Moses signed here last year.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: You know, maybe he brought his whole family and he
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: lives here. You know, I'm just saying as an example,
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: like to a friend's point who's been on four or
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: five different teams throughout his career.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: You know, some people move everywhere, you.
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: Know, and I know a lot of people like Logan
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: Mankins is another one, like David Andrews who ended up staying.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: He did so because he thought the education system was
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: so good in this area. That's why he had Uh
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: he's and he's not. He's going to go back to
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: California as soon as his youngest kid is done with school.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: I think he has a daughter that's still at a
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: local high school. And I think there's probably different factors
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: like that that come into play too.
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, I think it's just family and age related.
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: A lot of the young guys think they don't have
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: any roots here there.
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: I feel like, twenty three year old kid and you
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: don't have any reason to stay in New England by yourself.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: Yeah, but you've got a young wife and you sign
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: here on four years deal and you're gonna start a finishing.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: And let's also face it, like they have so much
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: money they didn't want to be in this weather like
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: and they can go anywhere.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Let's face it, in New England, like the better players
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: don't usually come from New England. So historically our best
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: players when they were done playing, they were out of
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: here Florida, you know, like Bled, So he was gone
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: and I mean he didn't end here. But they usually
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: don't stick around.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: They go home.
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: Yeah, but there's also opportunity here, like for a guy
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: like Scott Solak, who's a career backup.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: And puts down roots and all of a sudden guy
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: and he seems to have, you know, made a home here.
- 1:21:18Speaker 6: Hoyer kept his kids in school here.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: Will Will Fork stayed here for a long time. Yeah.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: Let's face it, if you do a f you are
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: growing a family. The education here is great, healthcare is
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: here is great, So why not stay?
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 1:21:33Speaker 6: That's such like a little little B word.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Truth.
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: But like I had that kind of money, I would
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: have a house on the beach anywhere, Alex, you would
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: stay here.
- 1:21:47Speaker 6: If I had unlimited money, I would never not have
- 1:21:50Speaker 6: at least a house in New England. I think the
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: New England coast is just.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: I would agree best. I would agree. I would. I
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: would probably stay here in the summers, yeah, I would.
- 1:21:59Speaker 6: He can extend that to the fall and the like
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: some of the spring to spring, Yeah, I wouldn't leave.
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: Till November, Paul, like when it's one hundred and two.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: I love spring has just been fantastic, My god, cold,
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: thirty two degrees.
- 1:22:15Speaker 7: I would probably have like a house in San Diego
- 1:22:17Speaker 7: and the cape somewhere nice.
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: I love, maybe a condo and palm beach.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: I wish that I were talking in San Diego. San
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Diego was always one of my favorite trips.
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: I love San Diego.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: It also is the site of the famous Fred Kirsh
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: defeating Andy Hart different sports right.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: At the University of Tory Pines Tory Pines.
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: That's right, Ethan says along the same lines of cursive.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: I definitely thought I'd spend more time on fire and
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: quicksand talking about useless things learned growing up, remember the
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: dropping how to get out of quicksand how to put
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: yourself I.
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: Don't remember anything about quicksand.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: Now I remember being like, very how was how to
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: put yourself out?
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: Well, just in general, like fire prevention, but smoky, that's
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: like something they should be teaching.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: That's relevant.
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: But I understand what he's saying, though, I spent an
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: inordinate amount of time thinking about quicksand like, what do
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: I do you know.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: I'm just it was on my mind, like Quick.
- 1:23:28Speaker 5: It's a it's a tough way to go where you
- 1:23:30Speaker 5: slowly thinkand no idea.
- 1:23:33Speaker 6: But it was like this prevailing fear that you're supposed
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: to have.
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: Many times were a little squirrely guitar pits on.
- 1:23:42Speaker 5: Like a Star Wars planet, like where are you going
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: to find Quick?
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: That's the whole point.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: I don't know, but it was like something that was
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: always talks about is a threat like quicksands out there
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: and if you get in, like you gotta spread out
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: and you know you can't try to If you try
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: to walk, you're just going to get yourself going in deep.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Like somebody google where is Quick? What about like teaching
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: kids about like Jones, it's not impa.
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: Island coast like.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: And said, we're going to talk about quicksand that's the
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: whole point, Evan, it's stupid into it.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: This is more general. You can find quicksand in the marshes,
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: in the bodies. That's the thing about quicksand it's everywhere.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: You just don't know.
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: United Kingdom, frank Florida, the Carolina, Florida, Australia and speed and.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: Wants to kill you in Australia, So Southeast Florida is
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: the only one that's well any problems to make You've.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: Probably seen it.
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: Swiss Family Robinson was like one of my favorite Disney
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: movies growing up, and there's you know, there's a quicksand
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: scene in that they pull a zebra there. So it's
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: just a lot of quicksand growing up not so much anymore,
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: not a lot on TikTok a quicksand, for the life.
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: Of me, can't understand why that would be neither.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Can I be real? I don't know.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: Adam from Louisiana, says Fred. Your thoughts on the letter
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: W or something I've thought about often. I remember high
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: school Spanish. I learned Spanish for W is double V
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: or double V.
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: French two dub.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: With some of the French fans.
- 1:25:10Speaker 7: Yeah, I know, I have a seventh grade exploratory level
- 1:25:15Speaker 7: of French and I could get by with the Brazilians too.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: No shout out my son.
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: He was inducted into the uh FREN National and National
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: Honor Society Foreign Lanuage.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: For French a couple of nights ago. Wow, awesome, French kid,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: there is such a thing.
- 1:25:29Speaker 22: I know.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: I didn't know any job Spanish, Latin and uh yeah
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: and Chinese.
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: This is Tyson or Campbell?
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: Tyson? Yeah, I just assumed a certificate.
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: I just called him Tyson Campbell because I forget which
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: one is with.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: He's the corner. Yeah.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: Back to the hotline, eight five five past five hundred,
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: Matts in Iowa.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Hey, Matt, Hey, I just did.
- 1:25:52Speaker 8: A quick thought. So the Patriots don't want to give
- 1:25:56Speaker 8: up their twenty twenty seven first round draft pick, right?
- 1:26:00Speaker 8: Is there a world where we would potentially draft like
- 1:26:04Speaker 8: Denzel Boston and then go and trade him after drafting
- 1:26:10Speaker 8: him for a J Brown in some sort of package
- 1:26:13Speaker 8: or is that not a possibility?
- 1:26:15Speaker 5: If the Eagles wanted Denzel Boston, like what, why wouldn't
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: they just take the thirty first pick and pick Denzel Boston.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: Well, if we had a handshake day, they can get
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: two guys they like. No, But I think what Matt
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: is suggesting.
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: Matt, correct me if I'm wrong, if I'm mischaracterizing you,
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: But I think he's saying if they had to wait
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: till June first, could they make a deal where Philadelphia
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: is like that like they do in the NBA. Philadelphia
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: is actually telling the Patriots who they want them, the
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: Patriots to take a thirty one and then they make
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: the trade in June.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Okay, you know what I mean, because they can't trade
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: now the cat purposes. But can they do that? And
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: I don't don'tifications. I don't know exactly. I think you can.
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: I mean you could probably, I don't see the I
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: guess I don't really see why Philly would want to
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: do that.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: But that's just no.
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: But if Philly would do the trade for the thirty
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: first pick, yeah, let's let's let's operate under the hypothetical
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: that Philly is interested thirty one for a j Brown.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: Yes, but they can't do it now because of the cap. No,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying.
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: But could Philly, you know, potentially say Okay, this is
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: who we want you to pick at thirty one for us,
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: and then we'll make the trade in June.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: This is interesting.
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: I wonder about Denzel Boston, like what's he going through
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: for the two months the or the month that he has.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: To be here. Well, this is definitely my guess is
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: they would tell them this.
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: Is definitely not above board, like you can't do that,
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: like like that, this would be like a but I
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: see how it could make sense though. I mean, I
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: just think the thirty first pick in the draft, like
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: it's more valuable to Philly to just have the pick
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: to do whatever they want with it, whether that is
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: to move it draft whoever. Like you know, now you're
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: pigeonholing yourself to your draft. You have what you can
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: you know, this is the one player.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: One option.
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: Oh no, no, Like you wouldn't necessarily tell the Patriots
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: before the draft you're taken, Denzel Boston, You're telling the
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: Patriots we're going to make the pick for you, like
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: when you come up.
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely, you know, like it doesn't feel like that
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: would be very kosher.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they would have a hard time with
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: something like that. And I did hear, you know, Fred
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: was talking. I think on Tuesday you were talking about
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: Adam Schefter had that little report where he's sort of
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: summarizing everything and it didn't really like I actually heard
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: it that day when I was it doesn't jive at all,
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: Like I don't see anything correlating the Patriots and the
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: Eagles having sort of a handshake kind of deal. There's
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: nothing off board about that, Like we got to wait
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: till June because of the cap. Now, if I'm the Patriots,
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: and I've heard Adam Jones and Rich Keith say this
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: a lot, like those are your cap problems, they're not
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: our problems. We're either going to make the trader, We're not, Like,
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: I don't have to wait till June to do this. Yeah,
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: so you you might force their hand, but like, there's
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: nothing and I don't I don't really see anything wrong
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: with that. If if the teams, I mean, what's the
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: difference between that and what all the trades that get
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: agreed upon before the start of.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: The league year? Right right right now, no one calls
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: anybody out for that. Just a rookie cott in the middle,
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: that's all. I don't know. I'm talking about. Thanks, just
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: the regular trade for aj Brown, not this the handshake
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: thing you mean?
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: Yeah, like keeps saying the Patriots wouldn't do that because
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: they've had their issues in the past.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I don't think there's anything You don't think there's anything
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: untoor yeah, I.
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: Don't think a comparable to like Spygate and you know,
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: agreeing to a trade two months before you make it.
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: I'm not going to sit here and pretend to know
- 1:29:38Speaker 5: all the language of the CBA, but like these types
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: of things are are frowned upon, like there's there's no
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: this is why there's no pick protections in the NFL,
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: like these things, Like I think that there he could
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: be saying that jefter is my point because technically that's
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: against the rules, And so he was kind of saying like, well,
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: not the Patriots and Eagles wouldn' ever break the rules.
- 1:30:01Speaker 10: You know what?
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: But I would just say, what's the difference between that
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: and you know, the Raiders and the Ravens agreeing to
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: the Max Crosby trade a week and a half before
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: the start of the league year.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I did.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: The league doesn't come down on any I mean, you
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: know this, leave me. They come down for the Ravens
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: for pretty much everything else because they're the only team
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: in trouble more than the Patriots. The Ravens break all
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: the rules, right, I don't know they oh they've lost
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: draft picks and all kinds of stuff for their OTA violations,
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: stuff that kind of stuff that's cheating.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: Yes, I'm very consistent. That's I call out other teams.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: I call out our team, Like when you do things wrong,
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: you should get punished for him, and he and the
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: Ravens have gotten punished for it more than most.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: Okay, Ellen, Wisconsin.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: The reason everyone was scared of Quicksand is because the
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: scene in Indiana Jones and let's face it, everyone wanted
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: to be Indie. Actually, for me, my first introduction of
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: quick in in the movies a long time ago. So
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: this is probably in the sixties. There was a western movie.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: It was a comedy and at one point in the
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: movie all these people going west hit quicksand and like
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: the covered wagons were going down and quicksand and everything.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: I forget the name of the movie. It was a
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: Western comedy about Western settlers.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: And not Blazing Saddles.
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: No, it was before Blazing Saddles. Oh, before Blazing Saddles.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: I think it might have been oh.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Geez, that's oh geez, before blazing said the sixties, Blazing
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: saddles like the seventies.
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: Maybe it was Blazing Saddles, not like but was there
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: a scene in Blazing Saddles where they got it caught
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: in quicksand?
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: Could be?
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: Yes, okay, maybe that was a good, good, good Alex.
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: I don't remember the Indiana Quicksand, Thanks gott it I
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: pride myself on knowing Raiders the Lost Ark inside and out,
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: and I don't know that there was.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: Probably be it for you. I don't recall. That's your
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: quick sit your I don't remember quicksand.
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: You remember Quicksand in Indiana, Joe, it didn't have to
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: be in that one, didn't say it was, Well, there.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Is some in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull according
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: to my Google. Maybe that's what was that shy above.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: But that's two thousand and eight that it was like
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: that didn't that didn't impact my youth, right, Sam got
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: I mean, maybe I'm just misremembering.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Maybe it was a couple of doom I don't. I
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: mean I saw all three of those.
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: The first one, the newer one was okay, Like, I mean,
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: it was fine. I watched on the plane, like I'm
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: not like, I didn't spend real time.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: Now you a big are you a big India guy?
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: I loved Indiana? The first one it was Crystal Skull.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: What the quick sand scene was in Crystal Skull? Yeah, okay,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: so that didn't impact my my youth. Yeah, this is
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: too old. That was too old.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: Let's see, Brian says, with all the talk of winning
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: with a number one receiver in my football watching starting
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: in nineteen eighty. Here my off the top of my head,
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: dynasties from that that all had true number one receivers
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: San Francisco, Dallas, Denver, Patriots first and three did not?
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: Patriots second and three did? In Kansas City?
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: Who did Denver have that was a true number one
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: for which team?
- 1:33:13Speaker 24: Here is?
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: Well, they only had two Super Bowls. The nineties team
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: was Damarus Thomas. And he's going back to nineteen eighty. No, No,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: he's going back to the nineties.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: So Rod Smith would have been I was gonna say Sharp, right,
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: Shannon Sharp, Shannon Sharp.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: But he was a tight end.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's still a number one guy, especially Hims Davis.
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: He's talking about the number one I.
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: Was assuming because he said the second Patriots he did.
- 1:33:40Speaker 5: I'm assuming he's talking about Gronk. So then maybe he's
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: talking about Shannon Sharp with the Broncos.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: I don't think that's fair.
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: That's totally fair.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: That's not what we're talking We're talking about receivers.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And I think you know a guy, I
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: don't care if you're a tight end or receiver. If
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: you have a number one like Travis Kelsey is the
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: number one receiver that was leading the way for Kansas City.
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: Okay, and coverage matchups, game plans.
- 1:34:02Speaker 12: Uh.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: Claire says, uh, hello, everybody dominating.
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: She says, there's also the horse and never ending story
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: that gets pulled into the quick sand and dies.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: A great call by Claire that that's a good one.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I never saw that movie.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: I have never once in my life been afraid of
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: quicksand where this comes.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: Welcome to the club. I'm not no walk. You're watching
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: where you walk? You are always in doors? Look out
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: it's quick sand.
- 1:34:28Speaker 6: Yeah, Evan didn't go outside enough.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: Probably fair. He's watching film.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: Yes, working, there's no fear of quicksand while I'm breaking
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: down film in my lab.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: It's perfect. It's true. Uh, never ending story. Never saw it.
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: I don't think I saw it. If I did, it
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: didn't make an impression on me. Pats in Pennsylvania, what's up, Pat?
- 1:34:49Speaker 26: Yeah, never ending story depressing his help anyway. I wanted
- 1:34:53Speaker 26: to ask about Zach Kore with last year kind of
- 1:34:56Speaker 26: being an interim emergency decordinator. I assume we just were
- 1:35:00Speaker 26: bro Williams scheme with Zak now being the named decoordinator.
- 1:35:04Speaker 26: Are we expecting any major ships, like whether that be
- 1:35:07Speaker 26: blitz rate, man's own whatever. I'm sure douce and to
- 1:35:11Speaker 26: get into the minutia there, but especially with like key
- 1:35:13Speaker 26: contributors like Chase On and Savii and Hawkins all gone now,
- 1:35:17Speaker 26: I just don't know if there's like a big shift
- 1:35:19Speaker 26: in what we see in twenty six.
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think so. I don't think so. I
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: think they would have seen it last year.
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: Well they did in the playoffs, and I think that's
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: the question is, you know, are they going to call
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: the defense the way they did as aggressively as they
- 1:35:32Speaker 5: did in the playoffs all season or you know, I
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: think last year during the regular season, they played a
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: lot of bad offenses and bad quarterbacks and they didn't
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: really need to go into deep into the bag, you know,
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: of tricks. And then we got to the playoffs and
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: their blitz rate increased by like fifteen to twenty percent.
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: Their man coverage rate increased significantly, So, you know, is
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: that the defense that they're going to play. I mean,
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: they were over forty percent blitz rate in their playoff run.
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: I don't know if that's sustainable. You know, first seventeen
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: eighteen games.
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: You know, you hope you get an edge rusher that
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: they can get pressure with four, and they don't, you know,
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: that they can pull back on that stuff. I mean,
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: I think some of it is you know that Landry
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: was banged up. You know, you're kind of relying on
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: Chase Onto, so some of it personnel circumstantial, I feel.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: Like, but yeah, yeah, we'll see. I mean, I think
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: they're gonna be argressive generally, you know, widely.
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: Different between the regular season and the playoffs. But I
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: don't know if that is just circumstantial. It's a small
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: sample size in the playoffs. Obviously you're playing better teams,
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: you know, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: But I mean, kind of crappy quarterbacks too in the
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: playoffs that they were lighting up. You know, the one
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: good quarterback had no protection at all.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: Right, Well, Darnold's pretty good.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, okay, yeah, yeah.
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: There are a couple of times though in that game
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: in the super Bowl, and like that's a zero blits
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: coming right now, you can't just see it coming and there.
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that you know, Rabel said it the
- 1:36:50Speaker 5: combine that he wants to hear new ideas and you know,
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: that's what he's the onus he's putting on the coaches
- 1:36:56Speaker 5: is to come with fresh ideas and new things. And
- 1:36:59Speaker 5: you know, I think a lot of us have talked about,
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: you know, dime defense and playing with more six defensive
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: backs on the field is potentially something they could do
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: a little bit more of compared to what they did
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: last year.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: What comes first, the personnel or the ideas.
- 1:37:12Speaker 5: It's a good question, I would say when it comes
- 1:37:17Speaker 5: to things like, you know, actual personnel groupings like dime.
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: Like if you're gonna run dime, you have to have
- 1:37:23Speaker 5: certain players that fit into those roles. You know, you
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: can't just run a big nickel or big dime package
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: without like a nicknam and Worry type that can, you know,
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: do some of the things that bigger safeties do. So
- 1:37:36Speaker 5: probably in that case they would have to draft somebody
- 1:37:38Speaker 5: or identify somebody that could do some of those different
- 1:37:42Speaker 5: things like playing over the slot or in the box
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: and that kind of stuff.
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: I'd imagine sometimes, you know, you get a guy that
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: it's like, now we can do this right, And.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: That's why the draft could be interesting.
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: With some of the safeties, you know, or even some
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: of the linebackers like we talked about today that you
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: know they draft a certain guy.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: You're like, well, that's a little bit outside of the box,
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: like this might signal something different becoming. They really did.
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: They cooked up pass rush last year, you know, especially
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: down the stretch with Blitzeres and line games and you know,
- 1:38:07Speaker 5: all sorts of different things and uh maybe deuces right
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: that they did that out of necessity because they didn't
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: really have like a true sack artist that could you know,
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: clean up sacks. But they they were pretty Uh I think.
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: That's stay aggressive. I mean, I just think you might
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: want to pull back on the blitzer right a little bit.
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: I mean, in a perfect world, I think that's we
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: saw with Seattle. You know, that's the ideal situation.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: But you're here's a little trivia.
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna name a type of position and you tell
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: me the Patriot that from your your recollection you associate
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: it with.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: I'll try Ginnis, right, Big Nickel, Victor Green.
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: Victor I think you're gonna say to Bucky Jones.
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: No, No, he was a regular starter when they went
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: three safeties in the Big Nickel. It was Victor Green
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: in O two.
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: Okay, good, that's all. I didn't, by the way, didn't work.
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: It did not work.
- 1:39:04Speaker 5: My big nickel lawyer.
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: I talked a lawyer about that a lot. Pat Chung.
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: Patcha yeah, because they put harmon on the field and
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: they have mccordy and Harmon playing over the top and
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: Pap Chung would be playing down by the line.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: Uh jacket and abba. My introduction to quicksand was a
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: scene in Lawrence of Arabia in which one of Sir
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: Lawrence's companions stepped into quicksand unexpectedly as he was running
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: down a sand dune in the Iraq desert. It's a
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: terrifying scene.
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: You can get a lot of quicksand walking about.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh it's so true. I mean, it's just like
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: you're saying it. I'm like, God, that's way too much.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: You'll be the one you talk five hours of sleep tonight,
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: bro things living rent free.
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: In my head, I'm like, quicksand was there from my
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: uns that were just like higher risk that you could
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: have been worried.
- 1:39:52Speaker 22: I know.
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: That's what's crazy about it. Especially living in this area.
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: It was like kidnapping too, like that mine In the
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: eighties as a kid, everyone was terrified at kidnapping.
- 1:39:59Speaker 21: Now.
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: I was like, now, they don't care kidnapping.
- 1:40:02Speaker 6: I think I had a dream a nightmare last night.
- 1:40:05Speaker 7: My recurring nightmare is that I'm getting chased to be
- 1:40:08Speaker 7: kidnapped or I'm already kidnapped and I can't escape.
- 1:40:12Speaker 6: You guys don't have to worry about this as much,
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: like there's nothing I could really do.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: No, I never had I never had that growing up.
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: I never wanted a moment, especially with what was the
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: guy who did? Uh John his son got kidnapped and
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: he did a Fox show that's like John Walsh.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: Adam Walsh was his son, and they made a movie
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: Adam about him. Like, I don't know. That was very
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: much like just kidnappings in the eighties was a.
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: Big Elizabeth Smart Girl went Missing. Oh yeah, that was
- 1:40:41Speaker 7: like core memory for me.
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: Yeah she started. Yeah, it's really good. I watched it
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: pretty recently.
- 1:40:47Speaker 5: I was like, I sometimes when I was a kid,
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: I get worried somebody can break into our house, like
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: in the middle of the night or something, but never
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: that I was going to get kidnapped.
- 1:40:54Speaker 7: Well, my stepmom's best friend is Molly Bush's older sister.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: Oh remember that story.
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: That was just so close to home from me that
- 1:41:04Speaker 6: I don't know and Elizabeth Smart.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: That's much more understandable if it was like it's a
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: kid though, Evan, didn't you fantasize about NFL films breaking
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: into your house and kidnapped.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: Analytics?
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: That wasn't atas No, we need you to log the
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: entire nineteen eighty eight season.
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: No, we're just no. Yeah I did.
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: That's a dream.
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: I was never worried about like them taking me, Yeah,
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: but I was always worried about people breaking into the house.
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: Jason Voorhees too, scared of him, had had it, had
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: had a little knife that I slept under my pillow
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: with because I was like my room was in the basement,
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: had a knight.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: Yeah, what are you getting into it with? Jason? I
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: had it in your mind? It I hadn't No, it
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: was it was a dull knife, but it looked cool.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: But I had like a dream.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: I have very vivid dream and like I used to
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: like my friend was obsessed with horror movies and like
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: and I would like make my little sister watch them
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: with me. So she's like I'm like ten, she's like
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: seven and watching Friday Thirteenth Part four, which is the
- 1:42:03Speaker 4: best one.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: By the way. But I had a dream that like
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: Jason coming into my room like to machete me, and
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: so it was in my head, so you know, it
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: been good, Like I don't know, man, I don't tell me.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: I do remember the original Friday the thirteenth.
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: I watched it in the middle of the day, three
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: houses down from my house, Richie Rocco's house, in case
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: you're wondering, like, and it gets madly Richie rocos house.
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: Greg Batto there too, and so we watched it and.
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: It freaked me.
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: It freaked me out so much. When I left and
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: I literally it's the same street and it's like three
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: houses down. I sprint it as fast as I possibly
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: broad daylight, middle of the day, maybe four houses.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: Because that one's Missus Vorhees, Missus Vorhees's.
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: When he jumps out of the water at the end,
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: I lost my ever loving poop.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: You think she's safe, she's floating down the river in
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: a canoe. And I did not see it. And this
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: was like the talk. You never saw many of the
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: Friday the thirteenth, So this is nowadays.
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: Everybody would know that was coming, like because you know
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: on you know, the Internet, and there will be spoilers
- 1:43:21Speaker 3: and all kinds of stuff. None of us had any idea,
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: no one had seen it, no one had heard about it.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: I just don't really understand why you would purposely watch
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: a movie to scare yourself.
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: Do that and then put all the lights on in
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: the house.
- 1:43:37Speaker 6: Why you are so bad too.
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: It's like it just doesn't do it for me. And
- 1:43:42Speaker 5: it's not because like I just don't that feeling of
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: being scared while watching something. It just doesn't like, Yeah,
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: it's not my I think.
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: I think, I think there's something to that.
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: I have friends who obsessed with it. I mean, I
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: have a friend who's like a horror movie direct. We
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: have a guy that we work with who's obsessed with that.
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: Tom Tom, Yeah that was a good one. Yeah. Well,
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: my son's like he's dabbling right now. He's interested.
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: And I was like, and they're watching like the modern
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: horror movies, and I'm like, go watch the original Texas
- 1:44:11Speaker 4: Chainsaw Horror.
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: Well, I remember that was.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: The most disturbing movie you've ever watched. Disturbing, disturbing.
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: Think about that one for a second. I don't know, Well,
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: it depends on what you.
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: Like something that made you like queasy and stayed with
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: you afterwards.
- 1:44:28Speaker 6: Amityville Horror maybe like.
- 1:44:31Speaker 5: The first paranormal activity.
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: Yeah, that one was so the way it was shot
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: and all that was like when I was.
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: Growing up, that was like it was very very popular
- 1:44:41Speaker 5: and they made like, yeah the first one though, you
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: had to see it. Everybody in school was seeing it,
- 1:44:47Speaker 5: Like you had to see it, and it was it
- 1:44:50Speaker 5: was really good.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: No, my friend who's a horror director, he showed me
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: that one night.
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: He had like he'd gotten a copy of it, and
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: we watched it and I remember driving home still being
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: freaked out.
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but that was a good one. Blair Witch Project
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: that that was pretty good like that. I think that
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: was absolutely awful. Yeah, I watched that. It's like, what's
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: the buzz about? I didn't get it.
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it was so like people were trying to make
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: it out to be that it was real and it
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: was just so Yeah. I thought it was very corny. Yeah,
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: and I'm scared of everything, like I like, and it's
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: probably because of this. It's probably based you know, watching
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: that movie and it freaked out about it. I don't
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: like I don't like horror movies. I don't like intentions.
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: Which one is the one with Michael Myers Halloween.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that one's that's pretty good. I mean that's not
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: even that gory like the first one. Slasher movies.
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: So two movies that really affected me, I think more
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: psychologically than anything else was Sin City, remember the original
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: Sin City with Bruce Willis, And yeah, I didn't see it,
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: but some moments in that that were just disturbing I
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: thought interesting.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: And then Silence of the Lambs. Yeah, you know, so
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: I was going to bring this up.
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: I saw there's a movie called Red Dragon, which was
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: another book by Thomas Harris in that series and same
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: thing with Paul. I watched with my friend and Frank French,
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: and we watched it and he was like, and he
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: lived across the street, and say, well, you just watch
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: while I run home, because he wanted me to make
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: sure while he ran across.
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: Red Dragon is really scared. MS didn't do that.
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: Like Signs to the Lambs to me, is more like
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: a thriller than it is, like, yeah, psychological, like I
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: was when I watched that for the first time. I
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: wasn't like afraid of my own shadow for a week,
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: like because it's like more of like a twisted thriller
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: type of movie than it is like a boo he.
- 1:46:30Speaker 6: Wouldn't be trying to turn you into a skin suit.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, like they were like I wasn't worried that.
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: I don't care, Buffalo Bill was gonna come get.
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: So there's this movie that it was a French movie
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: called Frontiers and it starts out like zombie invasion and
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: these group of teenagers are running away from the zombies
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: and they find you know, refuse, not refuse, but refuge
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: refuge in this house. But it turns out it's a
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: bunch of neo Nazi cannibals.
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: That's all so really disturbing. Problems just keep getting worse, which.
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: Brings me to the most disturbing movie I've ever seen,
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: what Deliverance Delivery Oh oh yeah, also.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: Like pall like Extorcist like movies.
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: At the time, No, I mean that was like those
- 1:47:21Speaker 5: when you started involving like religion and stuff like that,
- 1:47:24Speaker 5: and then the Exorcist was really yeah, you get like
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: the things going.
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, thanks, scary movies. Tell Tom to listen
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: in good stuff. He probably laughs, oh yeah, he finds
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: them all very I.
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: Don't understand people laugh at them like that also like
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: makes me worried for you, like there's.
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: Something wrong with you beating cats? Yeah, yeah, Like I know,
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: my my friend Adam Green's made a whole career of it.
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: He made a movie called Hatchet, and he made it
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: Hatchet Too, which was totally an homage to eighty Slasher,
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: someone that he loved. And that's like that friend group
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: is why I got sucked into like watching all the
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: Friday the thirteenths and you know, all the Halloweens and.
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: All that stuff.
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: So sorry for you. The chainsaw a scene in Scarface
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: was pretty that was bad.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: I actually immediately thought of that when you said something
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: that made you queasy? Yeah, you know, yeah that that
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: scene was bad.
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: Yep, John and Wilbraham says talking about taking a left
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: turn with the signing of Gilliam, that obviously moves Lampey
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: to the backup full back role and what they need
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: at tight end.
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: Can Lampy help fill that need? No?
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: I think those guys are you know, Lampy is like
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: might built like a bowling ball. You know, he doesn't
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: have like the length and the height and the sheer
- 1:48:44Speaker 5: kind of just size to play tight end, different types
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: of body.
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: Tough for him, toughier to get injured. I mean he
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: might really had an opportunity last year going to the back.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: Yeah right, he No, he did. That was so I
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: was wondering when they got Gilliam, what happens with him? Yeah, well,
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: I mean I think the bigger question is west Over.
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: You know, he well played that position. Is west Over
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: potentially one of those? But I don't know, if you know,
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: I would think that they're looking top grade.
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: I think that they just kind of saw an opportunity
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: with a lot of really good veteran full backs available
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: in free agency for card and the Guy and the Chargers.
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: Now I'm blanking on his name. I think they just
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: just saw a good opportunity to like really solidify that position.
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: I actually just wrote about it.
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: Full more Quicksand emails Mike and Boca Rattan. As an
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: old person, my first encounter of Quicksand was an old
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: black and white Western in the early sixties. The Rifleman
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: starring Boss the Celtic Chuck Connors got trapped in Quicksand.
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: My memory was he got left there at the end
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: of the show and didn't escape until the following week's show,
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: Yeah coming back sandhanger, Yeah, Robin writes in Greeting from
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: Southern Utah. We actually had a quicksand warning not too
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: far from here at Lake Powell.
- 1:50:00Speaker 24: Uh.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: Too bad.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: I never learned about quicksand safety during my time in
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: New England schools.
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: I think it was like it was only the spread
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: upper crust suburbans, right. Yeah, you know, I ever didn't
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: waste any time.
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: That the heart scrabbled streets of of every He.
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: Had no sand, so there was no need to worry
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: about quicksand it was all concrete, right.
- 1:50:19Speaker 4: It was also in that game Pitfall, remember that that
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: was like one of the first You had to go
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: over the quicksands everywhere.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: Everyone used to have to jump over the logs, but
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: you could go through them, but you would lose points.
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: My brother would pretend he was Earl Campbell would just
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: run through the that's glogs.
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: Speaking of movies, Ethan says Mysterious Skin is in the
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: same category as Deliverance.
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: Jeez, I mean it sounds like to stay away from
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: those titles.
- 1:50:45Speaker 27: Yeah, so I never saw Deliverance like the full movie,
- 1:50:50Speaker 27: but you know what it is, Oh, I saw the
- 1:50:51Speaker 27: parts yeah, like Burt Reynolds on display.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: I mean he's like, look, I can't even to look
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: at you got to watch it. Yeah, kick some ass
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: in that movie.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's the thing when like that came out
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: when I was a kid. You heard about the ned
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: baby part, but what you got, what they didn't talk
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: about is like he comes back and lays.
- 1:51:15Speaker 25: Waist all yeah, you know he gets well spoiler, I
- 1:51:25Speaker 25: think it's been long.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: You haven't seen it by now.
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: That kid in the beginning that plays like the Little
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: Mandolin or whatever, he's missing a couple of chromosomes.
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: Yea if I correct me if I'm wrong, But that
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: kid was real, Like he's not an actor. He really
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: does play the bad job.
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: You look like Jason at the end of I wonder
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: how he found about that. They don't know better.
- 1:51:51Speaker 6: You look so asked up that we're gonna.
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: I don't care painting play.
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: I mean there's still people up in the appellations a lot.
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, sure, Like how do you sell that
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: we're looking at a uh, you know, unattractive, overweight woman
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: for this role.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: We think you'd be perfect, Like, how do you sell that?
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: We probably don't tell them that part of it.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: I think it's kind of.
- 1:52:15Speaker 6: Well, if that's your to be an actor, yep, dude.
- 1:52:19Speaker 5: You got to do yeah, get out of that being
- 1:52:22Speaker 5: play the role uber driver bartenders want to be typecast.
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard thing. We'll being an actor.
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: You can be a great actor, but until you're like
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: if they're looking for a fat woman like you're a
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: skinny dude, you're not going to get the part.
- 1:52:33Speaker 20: You know.
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: It's it's tough write a great script. It's a great
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: script no matter what. But endeavors creative endeavors.
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: Let's see Mike in Middletown, Middletown, Connecticut, went down a
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: bit of a rabbit hole and IMDb the other day
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: and came across an unexpected piece of Patriots trivia. Maybe
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: it's common knowledge for the crew, but if not, this
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: might be a good one.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: Here goes.
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: Henry Thomas played Elliott in eighty two's e T the Extraterrestrial.
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: Did you know that? Yeah?
- 1:53:06Speaker 21: Uh?
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: It was his third acting role. His second was as
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: the Kid in the TV movie based on the classic
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: Mean Joe Green Coca Cola commercial, Thanks Me, the Steeler
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: and the Pittsburgh Kid. What Patriot legend.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Co starred Patriot Legend co starred in what.
- 1:53:27Speaker 9: In that?
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: In the Steeler in the Pittsburgh Kid. I did not
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: know that what Patriot Legend co starred in that. I
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: did not know there was a commercial? Was co star cameo?
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: But was in it? I don't know. I would never
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: have known this. Dante Scarnekia was the coach. Really, I
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: did not know that and I've never seen it.
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: So now the next time we see Dante, that will
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: be brought up.
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: Send actor Alex, send Mike Duffy a T shirt for that.
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: Where is he? Hey? He got it? He got the email.
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: It came in on Wednesday, real quick.
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: Speaking of trivia, last night, we were at our at
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: our drinks and some trivia came up on the screen
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: and it was who was the only person to play
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: assistant coach and head coach in a Super Bowl? And
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: so we're watching it narrow down and the things that
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: Bill Belichick.
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: Belichick never played. He's yelling, I know it was wrong.
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: I don't know. I think it was was the answer? Yeah,
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: who was the assistant coach?
- 1:54:31Speaker 21: Though?
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: That's I didn't think he was an assistant in Dallas
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: for some of those teams that went to the super Bowl.
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: Obviously he played in the Super Bowl and then he
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: coached the Bears. But Belichick never played. I mean that's fact, right,
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: he played in college. Yeah, but that's not what you know.
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: This is assuming.
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: A lot of people always say, like, you know, all
- 1:54:49Speaker 5: these like big timers that are like, like, you didn't
- 1:54:52Speaker 5: play in the league. I was like, neither did Bill Belichick. Dude,
- 1:54:54Speaker 5: like the greatest coach of all time, Mike McDaniel play
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: on a much higher level than Bill Belichick.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: Playing at Yale.
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: You're trying to like act like you know, like you
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: could only know if you if you played.
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: And it's like again, I go back to like a
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: lot of players, they have no idea about the playbook.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: They know what they have to do and they that's it.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: Story he told me, never ask a football player about football.
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: They only know what they have to do. Well, there's
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: a big you know.
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: Dan Orlovsky has gotten himself into into some messages lately
- 1:55:29Speaker 5: about Ty Simpson.
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: And this is like he says he's the best quarterback.
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: Yeah, better than Mendoza.
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: And I've noticed this trend with like the former quarterbacks
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: that like the fundamentally sound like pro ready polished quarterback
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: that comes out in the draft, they all like swoon
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: over because they look at it through the prism of
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: like a quarterbacks coach, like how much work does this
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: kid need to get to level? Whereas like draft people
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: look at the two and look at the ceiling of
- 1:56:01Speaker 5: the player and all that kind of stuff. And this
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: is why, like when Drake was coming out, did a
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: lot of these like quarterback gurus like we're really low
- 1:56:08Speaker 5: on him. Is because his footwork and this that the
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: other thing, And for some reason they make the same
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: mistake every every draft season.
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: Ted in Vegas, lets us know that on Chuck Connor's
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: tombstone there's a Celtics logo.
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: Okay, didn't know that win last night.
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: Cameron Dallas Paul on Tuesday, you mentioned how Kobe would
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: be a better athlete if he played soccer. I don't
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: know if that's what you said. I said he'd be
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: a great soccer player. Kobe did play soccer, that's what
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: he's saying.
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: Great with those if they wanted to like specialize in soccer,
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: these are some of the greatest athletes on the planet.
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: I don't think we talked about Kobe because I would
- 1:56:46Speaker 5: Kobe lived in Italy, his father was lived in Italy
- 1:56:48Speaker 5: for a while.
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: His dad played overseas.
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: I don't know who this person is, laughton Ibrahimovic on
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: Ibrahimovitch even said.
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: It costs too much for kids to play in the US.
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, there's a lot of time played in the
- 1:57:03Speaker 5: MLS for a little bit while with the Galaxy, I
- 1:57:06Speaker 5: want to say, and then yeah, obviously, great European player.
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: And then he wants to know if anyone's going to
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: be watching Brazil and France, who are raked fifth and
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: third in the world respectively.
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: I know the answer to my left is no, but
- 1:57:21Speaker 5: it's the answer to my right, yes, no, I'll probably
- 1:57:23Speaker 5: watch the Red Sox.
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, there's no way you're watching it. I
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: knew you wouldn't watch it.
- 1:57:27Speaker 6: Gotten tickets. I would have gone, like, if we had.
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: I would like to go to one of the World
- 1:57:30Speaker 5: Cup games. But you know, the tickets are twelve million dollars. Yeah,
- 1:57:34Speaker 5: good luck.
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: But all right, well let's can't before anybody wants to ask.
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: All right, that's going to be it for this edition
- 1:57:43Speaker 2: of free Form Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: It's a good week. Yeah, just.
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: You know, have a good weekend, enjoy yourself, but just
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: be careful of the quicksand all right, just be just
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: be aware of while you're walking.
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: I don't want anyone for quick sand of the pitfalls.
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: Draft that thing going on this weekend. The Duce and
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: I are going to be on the draft preview party.
- 1:58:06Speaker 5: If you're coming, you're older, we'll see you there.
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: Damien Harris, Okay, who else is going to be there?
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: Damian Harris, Brian Hoyer, Jenny Dus and Jenny Jenny Dell hosting.
