- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey guys, welcome back to Skin Care Anarchy.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is your host, Ecta, and I have such a phenomenal guest with me today.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: She is back for part two, and I'm very, very excited because this time she's going to tell us all about this amazing new launch that her company has released recently, and I've been in love with it.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: So I can't wait to learn about that.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: But I'm really, really honored and excited to introduce you guys to Angela Calia, who is the founder of her own brand.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the show.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Angela, I'm so honored to host you.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank you.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: It's an honor to be here.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Thank you for inviting me.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: We have some fun stuff to talk about today.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: A lot of science.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Yes, lots of science, and congratulations on the launch of the new serum.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: It's so magnificent.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I've been using it, I love it, and it just makes my skin literally like to sum it up.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: It I feel like it's like velvet every time I use it.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So I just really, really love the serum and I can't wait to learn about the science.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: But Angela, I know a lot of people may have not listened to our first episode together.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: If you could give us a little bit of a sneak peek into like your amazing career, you've worked with so many celebrities as an aesthetician.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: You've done such great work.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: So a little background on yourself, maybe just to get us started.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: So I've been an aesthetician now.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: I'm coming up to 30 years.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: I started when I was 23.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: And I mean my career is spanned.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: I've worked in New York.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: I actually have a bi-coastal gig where I go back and forth to New York.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: And here I um I work on some of the most incredible people, and a majority of those are some of the A-listers in the business.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: I can say who some of them are.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Barbara Streisand has been a client for 10 years.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Sting, Helena Christensen, and on and on and on.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: And I'm just so fortunate to have their ear and and become their friends for like an hour of a treatment and with their skin.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: And it's just such an honor and privilege to know these incredible people.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And I've always like been intrigued by your career, honestly, Angela.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Just like, you know, watching as you know, since I've known you, because I know you work with such high-profile clients.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: And it's like, but you're, you know, you're just like, I feel like there's so much like humility there in the brand because it's made for everybody, you know, like the products are so I remember the first time that we spoke, I was like raving about the souffle moisturizer because it was like game-changing for me.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Like when I tried it and I felt like it's like, you know, for everyone listening, when you try Angela's products, like you feel like you're the celebrity on her, you know, on her bench or on a chair, and you're getting the treatment and you're doing this at home for yourself.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what makes your brand just so unique to me.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: It's like it's bringing home that level of like luxury but efficacy, everything together.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm just so excited to to learn about the new serum.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And I that's really where I want to start is to learn about where this concept, you know, began for you and where the vision started to launch this.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, it's so interesting.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: You know, those celebrities and my clients are my test lab.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: So imagine how picky they are with their skin and the same way while working on them.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, they wouldn't be my clients.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: You know, you wouldn't last as being their aesthetician.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: So we we have that quality in common of excellence.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: So one of my passions is formulating skincare.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: That that is a passion.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I have a certificate in chemical formulation from UCLA, and it's just something I'm passionate about, and you know, the efficacy of the skincare.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I've always said, you know, like a few years ago, you may have heard me say, I would never charge$300 for a serum.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm gonna, you know, give you what I think, you know, is reasonable and fair, and discovered something so incredible.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: And it started, it has to do with the human mesenchymal stem cell.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: And this is our superhero cell of our body.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: And I discovered it when my mother was actually diagnosed with dementia a few years ago, and I was looking for regenerative medicine ideas for her because she was, you know, had a stroke and it was vascular, and she was, you know, pretty young to go through that.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And I crossed this incredible research lab.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: It's one of the top stem cell research labs in the country.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: It's in the middle of the country, it's not in California.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: And I just developed this relationship with the CEO, uh, the scientist.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: And, you know, having I have a touch experience with in my career because I've been doing this for 30 years.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: About 11 years ago, I was introduced to a product where it was derived from baby foreskin.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: It was a serum.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: And I didn't like the way it was derived, the human stem cell condition media from baby foreskin.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: So I knew the efficacy, but that that business went went out of business because I think it was kind of the strange way they were deriving it.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: But I do remember the efficacy of it.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: When I met with her years later, I I was like, wait, let's talk about something.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And she had basically, it's called conditioned media.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: So it's human mesenchymal stem cell conditioned media.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: And what that the conditioned media is, it's basically this little kind of like a broth or culture, if you will.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: And they take the stem cells and they put them in it and they duplicate and they drink and excrete.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: And what they drink and excrete are thousands of real growth factors, exosomes, cycotines, and proteins regenerate.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: So the real magic of the mesenchymal stem cell is what they excrete, not so much the stem cell.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: So there's no stem cells in my bottle.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: They would never penetrate your skin, and it is completely DNA-free, and it is uh derived from adipose tissue, so kind of your belly from a plastic surgeon from healthy, consenting 20 to 21-year-olds.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: And from that is where they duplicate in the lab.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: It takes about two months and it's all hand done.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: And we're able to get uh my lab has a patent on the human mesenchymal stem cell condition media, which is hard to get a patent on that.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: And the reason the reason they have the patent is because it's the best.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: It's able to duplicate from one million, you get around one million stem cells from uh a teaspoon from Yali, and we're able to duplicate 22 million stem cells.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: So that means there are over 10,000 growth factors, cycotines, and proteins in this product, which makes it so incredibly effective.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: And it's just truly remarkable.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: And I have it sent fresh frozen, because for efficacy, it needs to stay frozen, and it's sent to my chemist all the way here, and he keeps it frozen until he puts it in my formula to stabilize it.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: It's just so sci-fi and just incredible, and it costs a lot of money to do, so it's quite expensive.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: And you know, people may say, Angelo, that's an expensive price point for you.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: It's$395.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: Well, what I've done is I've created a new luxury collection where it's not just off-the-rack ingredients and I'm charging a lot of money like a lot of other brands.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: This is a very expensive and true medical grade product, if you think about it, because of where it's derived from.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: And there's also a research arm of my lab in the middle of the country that they do all of these clinical trials on the human mesenchymal stem cell.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: So they don't produce for skincare lines like me.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: It's really done for clinical trials on Alzheimer's, dementia.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: Uh long COVID studies are fabulous right now.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: The government just gave them a$5 million grant for traumatic brain injury.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: And the reason being is for the power of the human mesenchymal stem cell.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: And they inject them and they're able to go in and regenerate your brain and do all sorts of things.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Very medical.
- 7:35unknown: I know.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: I was gonna not to interrupt you, but I was gonna say, like, human stem cells are like, I don't think, and this is something that I've always been so curious about because as you know, Angela, like in our industry, like people love talking about stem cells, but they're talking about the wrong ones.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: You know, like plant ones, yeah.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: It's like that's not it.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like yeah, orchid, you know, Himalayan, whatever.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, no, that's not it.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Like you think it's a yeah, I know.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: And it's and they charge a lot of money.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: Rose, plant, stem cell.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: It's like that's great if you're a plant, you know.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: It's right.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: If I grow any petals tomorrow, that's gonna be great.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean, no, but the interesting part that I've always and I don't know why people have always shied away from this, is because you know, stem cells, like you were mentioning, you know, just from the science perspective that I know about from research and stuff, is that they're you're you know, obviously you're getting a lot of those cytokines, and cytokines are just like uh, you know, globulence, right?
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: And they're just like things that are gonna help other cells.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're they're gonna help other cells grow and they really feed other cells.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: That's why we love stem cells so much because when they're they're not secreting normal things, other grown-up cells are secreting, you know, because like a lot of times grown-up cells, like you know, mature cells, are secreting like you know, waste products and other stuff, right?
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: But like stem cells are creating things that help their environment flourish and thrive and grow.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: And that's why this is so groundbreaking that you're doing this.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: And you know, we were born as a ball of mesenchymal stem cells and a blood stem cell.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Those are the two.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: And the mesenchymal stem cell is the one that goes into repair when there's any damage.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: Like when you're five and you, you know, scrape your knee, it heals really fast.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: Well, our mesenchymal stem cell count declines around 25.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: So it starts to go down.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: So, you know, you hear about growth factors all the time.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: It's a great buzzword, growth factors.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: Most of them are man-made, bioidentical in the lab of most of the products, which is fine.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: But uh, growth factors are most bioactive when derived from human sources like adipose tissue, since they work with the growth factors normally present in a skin.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: So just the efficacy is just on, I mean, it's off the charts.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: And you know, I've been an estation for so many years, and I've always told people it's like, you know, you can't buy a product and it's not gonna take away any hyperpigmentation, any spots.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: You need to go to your germ, you need to get IPL, you need to get some uh, you know, concoction from them, but you're never gonna get anything over the counter.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Well, month three of using this product, and you think about there's factors that go in to regenerate.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: That's what this does.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: Literally, I had two spots, and I'm 52.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: There, I had two spots, dark spots, you know, by my ear right here, completely gone.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: My my face was just completely even, and it is like it literally took it away.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: And the best part about this regenerative, you know, skin-locky stem cell is that there's no downtime.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: There's no, you know, retinol disruptor to your barrier, there's no vitamin C irritation.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Your skin just feels and looks healthier.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: We've done all the clinical studies.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: It's just, I mean, it's revolutionary about time.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: Like we, you know, it's working for medicine and and I'm utilizing it for our skin, which is our largest organ.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, no absolute.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: And I love that you're actually bringing this to the forefront.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: I love it on so many layers, you know, when it comes to the this conversation, because we love talking about buzzwords in this industry, you know, from a marketing perspective.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: But let's just, you know, break through that for a second and really talk about biotech, because biotech is the future of skincare.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, that is just what it is.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: And, you know, when it you talk about biotech, people like like you were mentioning earlier, like, you know, you hear the words like growth factors, peptides, you know, etc.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: etc.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: But what do they do?
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: You don't know what they do, right?
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Because the general consumer isn't being given this knowledge.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: And what I really love, you know, the reason I'm saying this is because I love the approach you've taken here, where you're saying that listen, this is the these are the cells that are secreting the good stuff, okay?
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: And that stuff is actually relevant to your skin on the very top, you know what I mean?
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Because that's what it is, is when you have certain nutrients and certain growth factors that are compatible with the actual like like human beings have things that are like, you know, gonna determine whether something is compatible with us or not, you know, and if it's not compatible, that's when the immune system says, no, break this down, you know what I mean?
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: Get rid of it.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: No, the only approach to take is to use human tissue to derive these factors, you know what I mean?
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: So that's where it's like yeah, it's pretty so true.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: And we're puttings on that are, you know, irritating our barrier and yeah, to get there.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: It and it just never felt right to me.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: You know, being an aesthetician, people come in, I've seen so many faces that are so they think they're they're sensitive, they're skin, and they're not.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: They're sensitized by the products they're using and they're just not working.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: But they're being told you need all of these things.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: And let me tell you about the proprietary bio MSc that's in the formula.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and this is yeah, this is a whole new collection.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: So I've started, it's called the cellular collection.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: This is the first product.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: We have a whole pipeline coming.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: But this the bio MSc stands for biology, MSC for mesenchymal stem cell.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: So, what that is, is, and let me just quickly also say what's in terms of the growth factor and peptides, a lot of people don't know.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: Those are naturally occurring proteins.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: That's what they are.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: All right, collagen is our largest protein, and so much, it's all about proteins, and that is what stimulates cell renewal and the secret to repairing.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, with this mesenchymal stem cell, we've literally counted 10,000 proteins in it, and they think there might be more.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: So thousands of proteins.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: And I have, you know, this incredible, you know, nature to nature, like it makes sense.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: And then I then I, you know, as an aesthetician and kind of formulator, I'm like, you know, let's I want to make this the most potent serum in existence because I've been in the business 30 years.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: You know, I've I've listened to a lot of marketing BS, and it really is annoying to me.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, you know, I'm also gonna put in a clinically proven lab blend of man-made exosomes and peptides.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: So I have the real and I have the best that man can create.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: So I have that blend, which is the bio MSC.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: And then I've also no one can have this.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: Like this is this our blend, and it's a blend of both.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: And so we have the patented stem cell condition media, which has, you know, the thousands of proteins.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: And then I have this clinically proven blend of, you know, the man-made incredible exosomes and peptides and growth factors.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: And then I'm like, you know, I think hyaluronic acid has always been way too expensive, and you're just getting one benefit to hydrate.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: That's silly.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: So I wanted to make this a multitasker.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: So I added different levels of hyaluronic acid.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: I also added snow mushroom, which is 10 times more hydrating than hyaluronic acid.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: So I basically just covered my bases.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: If you listen to the way I positioned it, I think I did the real, I did the best of this, I did hyaluronic, and I did snow mushroom.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: So I just wanted to make the most powerful serum that really made a difference in your life, really, you know, making you feel younger and more beautiful.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: That's what that's what I do.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: I need to feel good.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Well, that's where I that's what I was like, honestly, like when I earlier when I was uh referencing your line, that's really what I mean.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: Like I just love that you have created and you continue to create products that are they're for everybody, you know what I mean?
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Like they're for people.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: If you want beautiful, radiant skin, you have to go to people who know what they're doing.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: That's the bottom line.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: And then you cannot argue with, you know, that's an argument that cannot be like you can't go around it.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: And so you know what you're doing, you've seen the skin, you've seen so many people, you know, like as clients.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: And so it's like you have now combined science with that experience as well.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And that's where I think it's so unique, you know, what you're creating with this.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Good point, you know, it's like a chemist doesn't really touch skin or talk to women about their products.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Like I have such an advantage, advantage point working with my chemists, and that's the way it works.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: I have the top stem cell scientist, I have my the best chemist in the country, and then me, we all work together.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: In fact, my chemist calls me boss as a joke.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: But also, I want to let you know this serum has it sold out within a couple hours at Violet Gray when I launched exclusively with them in October, and that was just for the pre-sale to the VIPs.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: So we had to go and restock it, and we manually had we actually had to drive to their warehouse to give more for the real launch, which was supposed to be the next day, but they didn't have any stock.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: So we stocked it and it was two days later, and then they sold out within hours.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: So it's just the buzz is there.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: We won two awards already, which is unbelievable.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: This is one best growth factor serum uh from Birdie, and it won the L Beauty Award for the future of beauty.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: So within two months or three months of launching, it has won awards already, which is just not surprising.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And also, just because you know the business so well, uh the the normal repurchase rate on your website is 20 to 30 percent.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: If you're lucky, it's 35%, and that's an industry standard.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, we have a repurchase rate of 50% of this product, which means that half the people who buy it buy it again.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: Wow, that's phenomenal.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: And I mean it it makes sense though.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: It makes honestly, Angela, like from a science perspective, this like completely adds up to me because what something that's always irked me a lot.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, in skincare, especially, you know, since I started this podcast, you know, I've seen everything, like literally like every brand.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: And I always come down to the same conclusion.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: That is that you want to bathe, like, think of the top of your skin as like, you know, the very top layer is like a petri dish of cells.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: You want to be bathing them in like nourishing things, and that's where I really, you know, you want to put them in what we refer to as media, you know, in science.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Like you don't want to leave them out there dry without any, you know, expensive.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we don't live in a bubble.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: You have to have healthy skin.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: And and that's why this serum, your results that you're you're you know telling us about, this makes sense to me because you're now bait like if you're putting the serum on your skin first thing, right?
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Like you cleanse your skin.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: It's always first to skin, and then you use whatever after, but it's got to be first morning and night to see the results.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and you're because you're putting it directly on, so now you're bathing those skin cells in nothing but nourishing factors and proteins and things they need to like glow to be like, you know, you know, people say like hydrated skin looks plump, right?
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: No, what looks plump is cells that are like genuinely balanced.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: And I like to compare it to you'll like this, you know, like a tree with the leaves, they start to get dry and crackly.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: A lot of the products out there, they'll just coat the leaves.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Well, we go from the source of the tree to nourish and make them healthy and beautiful again.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: So it's an entirely different process.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: And that's why you have to be committed to applying it morning and night, and you will see a result.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Like within, I mean, some people see it in two days, they're texting me.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: Others, it's like they're in they're elated after a month.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: It just it's everyone is different, but the results are extraordinary.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: It's it's addictive.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: They're all saying, I'm buying a backup, I'm buying, you know, more, I want one by my other one.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: And also I want to talk about how it's different from other, because human-derived is you love this, is a new trend.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Human, you know, it's gonna get bigger and bigger.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: And there's different sources of human-derived media.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: So there's there's a blood platelet condition, which is different.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: And I can explain how the mesenchymal stem cell conditioned media is different from, say, a blood platelet brand or even a fiberblast conditioned media brand.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: How is that?
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: Because this is all the yeah, it's it's so cool.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: Basically, the the blood platelet conditioned media, you know, they make blood, therefore they produce factors, growth factors.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: I'll just call them factors.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: They produce factors related to blood.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: Okay, it's a blood platelet.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: So skin is not blood, you know.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: And I know a lot of people are saying that, you know, the the they're saying the factors would be beneficial to the skin, but you know, that's still a stretch.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: The mesenchyl stem cells can become skin.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Therefore, they secrete factors that are totally related, which is most important.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: So ones that regenerate, that calm inflammation, that go in and work with the hyperpigmentation to rep, you know, basically repair the skin.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: There's even more exciting talk.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: Uh, there's a lot of studies.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: You can Google, you know, if you're curious and if you're listening, Google mesenchymal stem cell condition media.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: It there's so many studies out there.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: It was first discovered for wound healing, and and now there's studies how it's preventative.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: So meaning that 25-year-old should start using it now as her stem cells are declining because it's there are studies that say that it helps with photoaging in a preventative way.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: And that is out there, and able, you can read that as well.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: It's it's it's super fascinating.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: So it's preventative and it's also regenerative for someone who's like my age, you know, 40 and up, and that 25-year-old, it's gonna help prevent all of this stuff.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: No, I think that makes a lot of sense, and I I'm glad that you explained that because you know, with what you were saying, I was just thinking, I'm like, yeah, because no one talks about embryology, you know what I mean?
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: We're not talking like embryology is where this all makes sense.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: You know, when you're developing as you know, a fetus, all of these, you're there are multiple organs of the same type of tissue.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: That's why, like, when we're talking about like the mesotyme tissue, yeah, that's giving rise to even the human brain.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: So that's why a lot of times they'll say things like there's a skin and brain axis.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there is because they all exactly.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: So yeah, the mesencrable stem cell becomes your heart, your hair, your bones, your skin, everything.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: And it's able to do that.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: And that's what makes it so magical and a superhero.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: So it's able to go in and regenerate and repair and do all these incredible things.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, it's just such an odd, oh, and also by the way, I'm I'm giving 1% of all the proceeds to the stem cell research lab in honor of my mother for dementia and Alzheimer's research because it's in a medical purpose, it's all about regenerative medicine is the future as well.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're giving back.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: And you know, as a brand, I've always been told, you know, you should give back pause marketing and I I've always believed in that, but always said, listen, it's gotta be authentic and it's gotta be real.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: I I had tears in my eye when I looked and and and was at the lab and and told you know, the CEO of the stem cell we.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: I'm like, this is it.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be giving, you know, proceeds of this product to research to help people like my mother who eventually passed from dementia at a very young age.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: So it it it this is to honor well, to to give back and it feels good.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: It feels really that is you know what?
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: I really truly hats off to you for doing that in such an authentic way because I think that's something as well.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: I've noticed, you know, um, we often fall into these like, you know, oh well, everyone else is donating to something, so I have to donate.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: And that's the kind of crap.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like you're putting on a show, you know what I mean?
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but like I know you're doing this from a genuine place, and really like you've had this experience.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: You watched your mother go through something that a lot of people are going through.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Like, that is I'm so sorry you went through that, but I'm so happy to see that you're you're putting this like help you know, you're offering something from your success.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: That's beautiful.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: That's wonderful.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: Now I want to I wanna ask Angela because I know people are gonna be curious, and I know you have some amazing products in the line.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: So even though this is the first product in this brand new line, what are some other products that people can use in addition to the serum for like a full routine?
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: And the best part is every one of my products have won awards, which is so exciting.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, I mean the souffle moisturizer, I mean, this is like probably my hero.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: People, I mean, there's so many celebrities that order it from my website, it's unbelievable as well as the stem cell.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: But you would apply this after.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: So there's no silicones, it has goat milk to help calm redness.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: There's no fragrance, there's no essential oils, and a little bit of vitamin C.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: And it's just this yummy souffle-like texture that melts into your skin.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: And it's just, it's a beautiful product, and people just freak out about it.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: So that is what I I tell everyone that you know, you want to definitely use the serum with that.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: And then I have a beautiful oil, which is all organic, and I call it the Daily Botanical Serum, but it's a lightweight oil and it has, you know, sea buckthorn, lang lang, frankincense, rose hip, and it just smells like a spa.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: And you just put it on your skin and it just is so radiant, it just radiates.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: So that's always the last step.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: The oil's always the last because it's always thinnest to thickest.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: And um, my Kyle just won the Allure Beauty Award for best cleansing oil, and that's a beautiful all or something.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: I love that product.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, good, you have it.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, I love it.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: It's it's it's it's unique because it emulsifies with water.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: So it's not like you're using a heavy oil on your skin because that's counterintuitive.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: And it's so lightweight, it has uh neuroli and it's so like it's just soft and feels silk-like, and it has marula and moringa, and you just massage it in, and then you add water with your fingertips, massage, and it gets a little milky, and then you remove with a wet washcloth, and and you're set.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: It's it's beautiful from a makeup.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: I love that scene.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: And I honestly, like I swear by that cleansing oil.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: I literally think it's the best one in our industry, honestly.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: So huge fan over here.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: No, honestly, it is, and I think you know, with this line, I'm I'm really excited to see they're you're doing this as you know, someone in your position, right?
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: Because a lot of times we see dermatologists or we see like these super medical heavy grade like lines come out that just very hard to relate to.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, like marketing is important in some degree, like in the sense of like you have to be able to relate.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: And I think when I look at like who I personally buy products from, right?
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Like the brands that I really purchase are usually like a lot of them are esthetician-led, or there are a lot of them are people who have worked with like celebrities and they they know you know this is how you tackle a skin concern fast, you know what I mean?
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: Like that kind of thing.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: And I'm always looking for that as a consumer.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: So like I would love to get some like advice from you for everyone listening out there, you know, um, what is a good way to find like the right fit for you when it comes to, you know, who you can trust for your skincare?
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: You know, you work with so many people, so like if anyone's looking for like a new esthetician or anything, any words of wisdom you have.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: I always recommend, you know, wherever you are, because I get a lot of DMs of a lot of uh people on Instagram who live all over, and they're asking me, How can I find a good aesthetician?
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: You know, I wish you were here, you're not here.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: I tell them to kind of put something in their their their search bar on their computer, like, you know, best aesthetician in New Orleans or something like that.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: And then things will pop up because if you're good in your industry, you know, you you somehow get a little recognition somewhere, or if you can't find anyone that way, depending if you're in a small town or not, you just call around and you look for someone who has at least 10 years experience.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: I think that's really important to have under your belt and and also to know even these large spas that maybe have a big name on the the door of the large spas, they're not paying their aestheticians very much.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: And it that they may have only been working two years.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: So it doesn't mean you're gonna get that experience when you go to that person.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: So you have to just make sure the aesthetician working on you has, I mean, I could say five years, at least five years, preferably 10 years experience.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: That's interesting.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be I'm gonna make sure I look for that now because honestly, like I've done that.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: What you what you were saying, like I fall in into that, you know, trap of just like it's a good name, like the company or like wherever you're going, like the the place, but then you don't know anything about the person.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: So that's really interesting.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: And also, you know, I I get alerted on like my LinkedIn because you know, I'm an aesthetician and it tells me job openings.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: So I like to look I like to look and see what they pay.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: And these are like big spas that you know the brands, and they pay these these amazing girls.
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: It's just it says fresh out of school, you know, and it'll say, like, you know, one year experience, we'll pay you$25 an hour and benefits.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: It's like they're not even making very much money, but they want the you know, to learn from the big spa.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: So I get that, but they're not very experienced.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: So I would rather you go to someone who has a place in the back of her house who's been doing it for like 10 years, that's you know, passionate and and really good at what she does and knows how to analyze skin because it takes years.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: And that's why I say five years at least, because it it took me that it takes everyone that long.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: You've got to see tons of faces to understand different skin conditions.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: You're not gonna learn that in a book.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for for letting us know and letting the audience know because these are always like the kind of tips and tricks I'm looking for as a consumer.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: You know, honestly, we we don't know, you know, there's a lot of like misinformation out here.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: So, but no, I I really, really love this serum, Angela, and your whole line is beautiful.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: And I I'm just so excited to see this whole collection that you've started, you know, come together.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: It's such a cool endeavor, and I I cannot applaud you enough for like putting biotech in such a spotlight, you know.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm gonna say that again because I really believe that.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, if you're somebody that has a skincare line or you know, you're thinking about starting one, please understand that you can't skimp on science.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: Like exactly you can't do that.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: So well, thank you so much.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: It's been such a pleasure.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, likewise.
