- 0:24Speaker 1: three KJR dot com. You could win one thousand dollars.
- 0:28Speaker 1: All right, Well, we've had the NFL schedule out for
- 0:30Speaker 1: less than a week, so we should already have betting
- 0:33Speaker 1: lines on it, right, I mean, the season's only four
- 0:35Speaker 1: months away, and since I am not the betting expert,
- 0:39Speaker 1: we thought we should bring in a betting expert to
- 0:41Speaker 1: kind of help us break down at least the NFC
- 0:43Speaker 1: West and take a look at what is expected to
- 0:46Speaker 1: go down in our conference. Jason Logan is the senior
- 0:50Speaker 1: industry analyst at covers dot com and host of the
- 0:53Speaker 1: Sharp six hundred podcast.
- 0:54Speaker 2: He joins us right now. Good morning, Jason, Hey.
- 0:57Speaker 3: How are you guys? It's afternoon for me, but yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 3: all right, I wish it was morning.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Well, good midday, how about that? Yes, yes, yes, okay.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So we are, of course Seahawks fans, so our main
- 1:09Speaker 1: focus here is the NFC West, and I'm gonna just
- 1:12Speaker 1: we're just gonna kind of throw some some things out
- 1:14Speaker 1: at you, Christopher Kidd, and I just in some of
- 1:16Speaker 1: the things I think that stood out to us. And
- 1:18Speaker 1: looking at these early point spreads for the Seahawks and
- 1:21Speaker 1: their opponents, it was.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Interesting to me that we are.
- 1:28Speaker 1: We are one and a half point favorites at home
- 1:30Speaker 1: against the Rams and two and a half point underdogs
- 1:33Speaker 1: on the road against the Rams, which really tells me
- 1:36Speaker 1: the Rams are basically favored in both of those matchups, right,
- 1:39Speaker 1: because as a home team, wouldn't you mostly like isn't
- 1:42Speaker 1: three points kind of the set standard there?
- 1:45Speaker 3: That well, that that's kind of what that's the public
- 1:48Speaker 3: reception to what home field is worth. Now, not all
- 1:51Speaker 3: home fields are worth the same. Playing a loupit field
- 1:54Speaker 3: is not the same as you know, playing in a
- 1:56Speaker 3: half empty stadium in Arizona in the middle of November. Fair,
- 2:00Speaker 3: but generally generally, like they've they've done a breakdown of
- 2:04Speaker 3: what home fields are worse and it's been kind of
- 2:06Speaker 3: less and less and less every year. But like I said,
- 2:08Speaker 3: there are certain places that I believe are worth the
- 2:11Speaker 3: two or you know, maybe flirting with the three points,
- 2:14Speaker 3: and Luman is one of those places. Yeah, So when
- 2:17Speaker 3: you're when you're looking at those Rams and and Seahawks matchups,
- 2:21Speaker 3: I think Seattle definitely has a great home field advantage.
- 2:25Speaker 3: And then you know inside Sofi Stadium, that's the stadium,
- 2:28Speaker 3: it's a destination. Generally you see a lot of the
- 2:31Speaker 3: other team's colors there and you don't have a strong
- 2:34Speaker 3: a home field. When you're looking at the Rams and
- 2:37Speaker 3: you know their fan base, you know, great following, but
- 2:41Speaker 3: oftentimes you see teams taking over.
- 2:43Speaker 4: So fine, what stands out to you more? Because I
- 2:48Speaker 4: mentioned what I mentioned, I sent you the list of
- 2:52Speaker 4: the line in the NFC West preview, and the Rams
- 2:54Speaker 4: are favored in sixteen games, dogs only one. The Seahawks
- 2:58Speaker 4: are favored in fourteen games and dogs and three. So
- 3:00Speaker 4: what stands out more to you hear the Arizona Cardinals
- 3:02Speaker 4: being underdogs in every game or the Seahawks being favored
- 3:06Speaker 4: in fourteen, finishing ahead of the Rams last season. Not
- 3:11Speaker 4: to mention they are not favored in both of those games.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And it all depends on where you're looking
- 3:16Speaker 3: at the line. Some places have I see Seattle at
- 3:19Speaker 3: the favorite and fifteen games. I think the big decider
- 3:21Speaker 3: between them and the Rams if you look, it's the
- 3:23Speaker 3: Eagles game. They both play the Eagles. Seattle is plus
- 3:28Speaker 3: one and a half at Philadelphia on a Saturday in
- 3:31Speaker 3: week fifteen. The Rams roll in where they they're at
- 3:35Speaker 3: Philly earlier in the year. Yeah, week four, Yeah, week four,
- 3:39Speaker 3: minus one and a half actually on the road at Philly.
- 3:42Speaker 3: So you know, there's that's basically like the margin. To me,
- 3:45Speaker 3: I see six, I see a sixteen to one win,
- 3:47Speaker 3: and co according to the ATS lines for the Rams,
- 3:50Speaker 3: I see fifteen to two. And that's that's really the
- 3:52Speaker 3: divider there is that they are a favorite earlier in
- 3:55Speaker 3: the season in Philadelphia, and that could be, you know,
- 3:57Speaker 3: it could be a cold weather thing. It could be
- 3:59Speaker 3: because it's a Sadaturday game, standalone Saturday game in Philadelphia,
- 4:03Speaker 3: and you know those Eagles fans are going to be well oiled.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and in a real low total for that
- 4:11Speaker 3: one too, like forty three and a half. That's going
- 4:13Speaker 3: to be a grinder of a game in week fifteen
- 4:14Speaker 3: where weather it's not going to be fantastic, and we've
- 4:17Speaker 3: seen some snow day games and rain and wind in
- 4:20Speaker 3: Philly that time of the year. And then I mean,
- 4:23Speaker 3: if you look at the Arizona Cardinals, I mean, man,
- 4:29Speaker 3: and I like every year I break down as I
- 4:31Speaker 3: get closer to kickoff, I break down all the spread
- 4:33Speaker 3: and I try to look at, like, what are some
- 4:34Speaker 3: spots where you can play on and play against them?
- 4:37Speaker 3: And just absolutely I don't think I ever remember seeing
- 4:41Speaker 3: a team one The schedule is just unbelievably hard, like
- 4:45Speaker 3: it didn't matter if Arizona was a good team or not,
- 4:47Speaker 3: Like this is an uphill climb. And then the schedule
- 4:50Speaker 3: makers did them a big favor with a Week fourteen
- 4:53Speaker 3: by like thanks for that. I think that just gives
- 4:56Speaker 3: them an extra week to plan their vacations, you know.
- 4:59Speaker 3: And then they out of that and it gets a
- 5:01Speaker 3: little softer. You get the Jets in the Saints and
- 5:03Speaker 3: the Raiders. But I mean, if you're an underdog at
- 5:05Speaker 3: home to the Jets, and you're an underdog at home
- 5:07Speaker 3: to the Raiders in the back end of the season,
- 5:09Speaker 3: which I am, we don't know what that team is
- 5:11Speaker 3: going to look like in the back end of the
- 5:13Speaker 3: season after facing what is a gauntlet. I mean, it's
- 5:15Speaker 3: just the Chargers, Seattle, San Francisco, the Giants in a
- 5:19Speaker 3: one pm road game as well too, So you have
- 5:21Speaker 3: to travel to New York and improve team. They've got
- 5:23Speaker 3: a real nasty defense. You've got to wake up early
- 5:25Speaker 3: and play them. You've got Detroit, you have the Rams,
- 5:29Speaker 3: you have Denver, Dallas, Seattle like you just playoff team
- 5:32Speaker 3: after playoff team. And like the Kansas City's there Washington,
- 5:36Speaker 3: which was a team that played in the NFC Championship
- 5:38Speaker 3: two years ago. Like the Hits, just don't keep they
- 5:40Speaker 3: don't stop coming. For Arizona, I look at their team offensively,
- 5:44Speaker 3: they have a lot of a lot of weapons, but
- 5:46Speaker 3: it is just that quarterback position. I think that does
- 5:48Speaker 3: the men. But yeah, plus right now, you can there's
- 5:52Speaker 3: a prop out there. Will a team go winless? Yes,
- 5:56Speaker 3: plus nine hundred. The no is minus two thousand. To
- 6:00Speaker 3: look at kind of Arizona in this spot and say, okay,
- 6:01Speaker 3: but they're coming off a buye. They have the Jets
- 6:03Speaker 3: at home. That might be a certain spot where they
- 6:05Speaker 3: can pick up a win. They have Las Vegas may
- 6:08Speaker 3: be late in the year. Who knows what Las Vegas
- 6:11Speaker 3: is trotting out there at that time of the year
- 6:12Speaker 3: as well too. And then you know you've got San
- 6:15Speaker 3: Francisco in that last game, and if San Francisco has
- 6:18Speaker 3: has kind of punched their ticket to the postseason when
- 6:20Speaker 3: they know where they're going, that could be kind of
- 6:22Speaker 3: a mail in game as well too. So, but they
- 6:26Speaker 3: are plus two forty favorites to have the fewest wins,
- 6:30Speaker 3: and like you mentioned, they're not a favorite in any game.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Their win totals at four and a half. The under
- 6:35Speaker 3: is heavily juiced at minus one fifty. I just can't
- 6:38Speaker 3: remember seeing like seven times they're going to be a
- 6:40Speaker 3: double digit dog, and that's before the buyers, that's before
- 6:44Speaker 3: the bye way. I just don't remember seeing a team
- 6:46Speaker 3: just having this many points padding to spread. And as
- 6:50Speaker 3: someone who likes to bet on underdogs, I think there's
- 6:53Speaker 3: going to be opportunities where we do see teams that
- 6:56Speaker 3: are so bad that they actually come around and become
- 6:59Speaker 3: good bets because they're getting, you know, sixteen and a
- 7:02Speaker 3: half seventeen points on the spread.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Jason Logan is with us from Covers dot Com. Okay,
- 7:07Speaker 1: so you brought up the forty nine ers and mentioned
- 7:09Speaker 1: like if they've already punched their ticket to the playoffs.
- 7:11Speaker 1: This is a team that I can't figure out because
- 7:13Speaker 1: last year, I think their win total was said at
- 7:15Speaker 1: about nine games. I thought they were going to go under.
- 7:17Speaker 1: They surpassed that. I don't know how they keep doing it.
- 7:21Speaker 1: But once again they're favored in eleven games.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I don't get it, because it's it's like on paper,
- 7:28Speaker 3: when everyone's there, they're one of the better two way teams.
- 7:30Speaker 3: They're a fantastic like they're coaching is fantastic. I thought
- 7:33Speaker 3: Kyle Shanahan should have won Coach of the Year last
- 7:36Speaker 3: year just because you know, he had that team stuck
- 7:39Speaker 3: together with duct tape and good intentions and they you know,
- 7:42Speaker 3: they they rattled down the schedule but just kept winning
- 7:46Speaker 3: games and winning games. They got into the playoffs, and
- 7:48Speaker 3: you know they're on paper they're a good team. And
- 7:50Speaker 3: then they go and add a guy like Mike Evans
- 7:52Speaker 3: and get a weapon as well too, So you know,
- 7:56Speaker 3: if they're if they're healthy and they stay healthy, which
- 7:58Speaker 3: has been a problem for them, they're again a contender
- 8:01Speaker 3: favorites in twelve games. You know, there's seven spreads in
- 8:05Speaker 3: which they're laying more than a field goal. Their win
- 8:07Speaker 3: total at ten and a half. The under is a
- 8:09Speaker 3: little juice there. And but they I do find they
- 8:12Speaker 3: have a little tougher schedule than some of the other
- 8:14Speaker 3: teams in the division. They have to go for that
- 8:16Speaker 3: Australia game with the Rams, which.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Is weird, which is wrong.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I mean, I'm all for expanding the game, but like
- 8:24Speaker 3: give them a preseason game or something.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you shouldn't put a division game in another country,
- 8:29Speaker 1: that's right, draw the line.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and they and they definitely have they have a
- 8:34Speaker 3: chance to really kind of build some momentum early on,
- 8:36Speaker 3: like they have Miami, they have Arizona, have Denver at home,
- 8:39Speaker 3: Denver being a good team, but they get to play
- 8:41Speaker 3: them at home. So three straight home games after the
- 8:43Speaker 3: Australian thing, like the scheduled makers are trying to make
- 8:45Speaker 3: it up to them, and then they go to Seattle.
- 8:48Speaker 3: But then they have Washington at home and then Atlanta
- 8:50Speaker 3: and then a buye. So I mean that they could
- 8:52Speaker 3: technically get into that buy at one, two, three, four, five, five,
- 8:57Speaker 3: and two heading into the week eight, which is which
- 9:00Speaker 3: is pretty good shape. But then it really tightens up
- 9:03Speaker 3: in the back end of the schedule. If you look
- 9:04Speaker 3: at week thirteen through to week fifteen, they have to
- 9:08Speaker 3: go on the road to the Giants in a one
- 9:09Speaker 3: pm start, which could be cold weather. In week fifteen,
- 9:12Speaker 3: then they have to travel all the way back. They
- 9:14Speaker 3: play the Rams at home, they're home underdogs plus one
- 9:17Speaker 3: and a half, and then they have to travel again
- 9:19Speaker 3: to the Chargers and that's a Thursday game, So it's
- 9:23Speaker 3: a really short turnaround. They play three games against very
- 9:27Speaker 3: competitive teams in an eleven day window with two travel
- 9:29Speaker 3: spots there. So then you got Casey waiting at a
- 9:32Speaker 3: week sixteen right after.
- 9:34Speaker 2: That, and then how about Philly after that?
- 9:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and then Philly and then yeah, and then maybe
- 9:39Speaker 3: Arizona is your layup. But yeah, for me, when I
- 9:42Speaker 3: look at the schedules, I mean in terms of just
- 9:45Speaker 3: strengths of opponent and how out class they are, it's
- 9:47Speaker 3: tough to get by whatever Arizona has laying in front
- 9:50Speaker 3: of them. But in terms of like situational spots and
- 9:53Speaker 3: those little quirks, like they have to go to Mexico
- 9:54Speaker 3: City and play Minnesota. Yeah, they have two international.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Games this year they got the shaft there.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and you're playing at altitude. It's like going you know,
- 10:03Speaker 3: it's like going to Denver times too and having to
- 10:05Speaker 3: do that again. So for me, I mean, the San
- 10:09Speaker 3: Francisco forty nine ers has kind of the quirkiest schedule
- 10:11Speaker 3: and a lot of things working against the especially late
- 10:13Speaker 3: in the year when you're trying to get wins and
- 10:15Speaker 3: you're trying to get separation from the rest of the division,
- 10:17Speaker 3: which is looking pretty packed. If you look at the
- 10:19Speaker 3: odds for this, you know, San Francisco does have a
- 10:21Speaker 3: bit of an uphill climb towards the end of the year.
- 10:24Speaker 3: So if you look at the divisional odds, the Rams
- 10:26Speaker 3: are plus one thirty plus one thirty five favorite, the
- 10:30Speaker 3: Seahawks right behind them plus one sixty five, and then
- 10:32Speaker 3: San Francisco plus two sixty and then probably the less
- 10:34Speaker 3: we say about Arizona of the better.
- 10:36Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Jason Logan's senior industry analyst at covers dot com and
- 10:40Speaker 1: host of the Sharp six hundred podcast, joining Ashley Ryan
- 10:42Speaker 1: and Christopher Kidd in for Greg Bell.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Which NFC West Team. Jason, do you think the betting
- 10:49Speaker 4: market is most wrong about right now is the Seahawks,
- 10:53Speaker 4: the Niners, the Rams, or could it be the Cardinals.
- 10:59Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, no one's ever as bad as they look,
- 11:01Speaker 3: and it could be the Cardinals just because there's just
- 11:04Speaker 3: so many big, big spreads here. And you know, like
- 11:08Speaker 3: I said, eventually things will come around where if they
- 11:11Speaker 3: are that bad, you know, odds makers are going to
- 11:13Speaker 3: be begging for action on Arizona and they're going to
- 11:15Speaker 3: pile up the points. So I don't know if anyone's
- 11:18Speaker 3: that bad right now. And you, like I said, you
- 11:21Speaker 3: look at their skill pieces, great running backs, nice step there,
- 11:25Speaker 3: they get love in there, they get Tyler Algier who
- 11:27Speaker 3: was fantastic for the Falcons last year. McBride's there. You've
- 11:31Speaker 3: got a good, good, solid wide receiving core. It's just
- 11:34Speaker 3: that you've got Jacoby Brissett and Minshew and then another
- 11:37Speaker 3: rookie that is likely going to get thrown into the
- 11:40Speaker 3: fray here, hopefully after Week fourteen, after they played all
- 11:43Speaker 3: those horrible, horrible teams that they have to run into. Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 3: and then the Rams, like, how is Matt Stafford going
- 11:51Speaker 3: to be able to stay healthy for another year in
- 11:54Speaker 3: another deep run? And that's the other thing too, with
- 11:57Speaker 3: the durability of Matt Stafford, because if he goes down,
- 12:01Speaker 3: that changes a lot of things for the Rams. And
- 12:03Speaker 3: while their defense is good, you've got to be able
- 12:05Speaker 3: to punch back in this division because Seahawks put up points.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Like I said, Arizona, skilled players are there. They could
- 12:11Speaker 3: score some points in San Francisco with Kyle Shnhan is
- 12:13Speaker 3: always going to have a.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Dynamic offfin That's the crazy thing though, Jason, right, looking
- 12:17Speaker 1: at Matt Stafford, I remember last year, right, he has
- 12:20Speaker 1: the back issues and everyone thinks, oh, how's this season
- 12:22Speaker 1: going to go for him? He plays better than ever,
- 12:23Speaker 1: so I feel like, even with injuries, this guy's almost bionic.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it's well, it's kind of a point now where
- 12:31Speaker 3: you see where he's at in his career. They you know,
- 12:34Speaker 3: they have kind of a grueling season he's had that
- 12:36Speaker 3: you maybe expect a little regression, and they also play
- 12:41Speaker 3: some really tough defenses out of the gate. You've got
- 12:43Speaker 3: San Francisco. You've got the Giants who are just rich
- 12:46Speaker 3: at linebacker, going to throw a lot at you. It's
- 12:48Speaker 3: a new Harbaugh defense. It's going to be something they
- 12:51Speaker 3: haven't seen before. You've got Denver in elite defense maybe
- 12:54Speaker 3: the best defense you have Philly with Fangio, what's he
- 12:57Speaker 3: going to bring? You have no idea of Buffalo's defense
- 13:00Speaker 3: looking to be revamped as well too, So if he
- 13:02Speaker 3: escapes those first five weeks, I think you're playing with
- 13:06Speaker 3: house money at that point. But they're right out of
- 13:08Speaker 3: the gate. They're going to face some very good defenses
- 13:11Speaker 3: that would like to come after your quarterback. And if
- 13:14Speaker 3: they can keep Matt Stafford upright until you know Halloween,
- 13:16Speaker 3: then I think they're okay.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Do you think divisional familiar familiarity makes the NFC West
- 13:23Speaker 4: games more unpredictable against the spread compared to the NFC
- 13:27Speaker 4: Nor than other divisions?
- 13:30Speaker 3: I think. I mean, within any division you're going to get,
- 13:33Speaker 3: you know, you kind of have to treat those games
- 13:35Speaker 3: with a little respect. Even if Arizona is terrible, you
- 13:39Speaker 3: know they're going to have good intel. They're going to
- 13:41Speaker 3: want to come out to those divisional games, and you
- 13:45Speaker 3: know we do see most often, you know you will
- 13:47Speaker 3: see underdogs have a little more bite when it comes
- 13:50Speaker 3: to divisional matchups. I mean it's if you want to
- 13:54Speaker 3: measure this against the NFC North, I mean they're both very,
- 13:56Speaker 3: very tight divisions. I think the North is a little
- 13:59Speaker 3: better because I think League Minnesota is a much better
- 14:02Speaker 3: team than Arizona, especially if Kyler Murray can do what
- 14:06Speaker 3: he can do at least what we saw him his
- 14:08Speaker 3: first few years in Arizona and connect with Justin Jefferson.
- 14:11Speaker 3: So in terms of in terms of like competitive divisions,
- 14:15Speaker 3: I would say that the NFC North is probably one
- 14:18Speaker 3: A and then this NFC West probably one B.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Got it?
- 14:22Speaker 2: I should turn my microphone back on.
- 14:23Speaker 1: All right, Jason, thank you so much for joining us.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Just further proof, right because we've still got four months
- 14:28Speaker 1: and the schedule just came out, but with betting lines
- 14:30Speaker 1: already out, the NFL is always there lurking.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Yeah, tell me about it. I'm trying to get NBA
- 14:36Speaker 3: and WNBA out the door, and then the NFL's this
- 14:40Speaker 3: comes creeping in again.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Right, Yes, Okay, Actually, you know what you brought up, NBA,
- 14:43Speaker 1: So before I let you go, I just got to ask,
- 14:44Speaker 1: because us here in Seattle, obviously, where most of us
- 14:47Speaker 1: aren't rooting for the Oklahoma City Thunder, are the Spurs
- 14:51Speaker 1: going to pull this off and take them down in
- 14:53Speaker 1: the Western Conference Finals?
- 14:55Speaker 3: Hey, if there's the team that can do it. I
- 14:56Speaker 3: mean they had their number in the regular season when
- 14:59Speaker 3: Minyama is able to kind of counter their size inside.
- 15:02Speaker 3: You know, that's always been their biggest thing. With Hartstein
- 15:04Speaker 3: and chet Holmber. I'm like, you have two great seven
- 15:06Speaker 3: footers there, you know, Santoni is able to kind of
- 15:09Speaker 3: push them all to the perimeter. For me, at least
- 15:12Speaker 3: for bets. On tonight, I took Shay gildas Alexander over
- 15:16Speaker 3: twenty eight and a half. I think he was a
- 15:17Speaker 3: lot more aggressive in the second half of Game one.
- 15:20Speaker 3: He's going to have to be aggressive in this one.
- 15:21Speaker 3: No one's coming to his rescue here. He has to
- 15:24Speaker 3: be the guy that sets the tone for Oka. See.
- 15:26Speaker 3: So in a good Canadian kid and I'm Canadian, so
- 15:28Speaker 3: two time and repeat, let's go see Okay.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I do love Shay, but let's go Spurs.
- 15:32Speaker 3: All right.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Well, thank you so much for joining us. We'll probably
- 15:35Speaker 1: be catching up with you again as the season years.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely happy to talk to Seahawks.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Awesome. Thank you.
- 15:41Speaker 1: That is Jason Logan from Covers dot Com, also the
- 15:44Speaker 1: host of the Sharp six hundred podcast. Senior industry analyst,
- 15:49Speaker 1: I should say at covers dot com. So he brought
- 15:51Speaker 1: up kid the international games and that the forty nine
- 15:54Speaker 1: ers are kind of getting hosed. I mean, I don't
- 15:56Speaker 1: feel bad for him, but two international games one is
- 15:59Speaker 1: bad enough. One to start the season against a divisional
- 16:02Speaker 1: opponent is bad enough because you're losing. You know, well,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I don't know that SOFI has a home field advantage,
- 16:09Speaker 1: but the forty nine ers running one. Yeah, yeah, and
- 16:12Speaker 1: so you're taking that away from one team.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I think that's so unfair. I don't think division games
- 16:16Speaker 2: should be.
- 16:16Speaker 1: On the table at all for an international game. They don't,
- 16:20Speaker 1: and they're proving they give less of a DAN than
- 16:22Speaker 1: they did before because now they're going to add two
- 16:24Speaker 1: international games.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Just wait until we have games on Tuesday next year.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Okay, So this is my question.
- 16:30Speaker 1: So I'm getting really annoyed with the international stuff because
- 16:33Speaker 1: you're now you're adding two games. You're saying teams can't
- 16:36Speaker 1: protect any games, so we just get to decide what
- 16:38Speaker 1: some of the best matchups are and put them internationally,
- 16:40Speaker 1: which I think is a diskservice to us NFL fans
- 16:42Speaker 1: who have been the NFL fans that have grown this
- 16:45Speaker 1: product and supported this product over the years. And so
- 16:49Speaker 1: and now you look at this schedule for this next season,
- 16:51Speaker 1: and you've got games on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Tuesday is the only day that is off limits for
- 16:59Speaker 1: the NFL right now. I don't think that's gonna last
- 17:01Speaker 1: very long. Nope, can the NFL we can have I
- 17:04Speaker 1: want to ask your your thoughts on this, but I
- 17:05Speaker 1: also want people to chime in on the Tacoma Dodge
- 17:07Speaker 1: text line four nine, four or five one.
- 17:09Speaker 2: This is our question of the day.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Can the NFL ever do something to drive you away,
- 17:15Speaker 1: to make you sick of their product? Can they do
- 17:17Speaker 1: too much to the point where you say, all right,
- 17:19Speaker 1: that's it. Not that I'm not going to be an
- 17:22Speaker 1: NFL fan anymore, but that's too much like our game
- 17:25Speaker 1: seven days a week.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Too much for you. So chime in on that, and kid,
- 17:28Speaker 2: what do you think?
- 17:30Speaker 5: That's a fun one. But the answer is no.
- 17:33Speaker 2: See and for me, they can.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I love that I anticipate Monday Night football, Thursday Night football,
- 17:40Speaker 1: that I look forward to Sunday's watching football all day.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I hate when it's so spread out that you have
- 17:45Speaker 1: red zone with like two games on at a time,
- 17:48Speaker 1: and then they both go into a commercial.
- 17:49Speaker 2: It's it's terrible. That's not what red zone is supposed
- 17:52Speaker 2: to be.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Scott Hansen should never have time to go to the bathroom,
- 17:55Speaker 1: and you're giving them all this time to go to
- 17:57Speaker 1: the bathroom during commercial breaks, which I'm sure you appreciates.
- 17:59Speaker 5: It's the only thing is Ashley, who's your favorite team?
- 18:01Speaker 2: Seahawks.
- 18:02Speaker 5: You're never gonna get tired of them?
- 18:04Speaker 2: No, I'm not.
- 18:04Speaker 4: I'll watch You'll oh to seventeen and you'll be like, god,
- 18:07Speaker 4: dangn I gotta see if they you're just that and
- 18:10Speaker 4: that's their bank. I might not watch every game, right,
- 18:13Speaker 4: you know the fan bases you will. You will watch
- 18:16Speaker 4: your local team. Yeah no, and I get that even
- 18:19Speaker 4: your worst of the worst. But Tennessee Titans last year
- 18:22Speaker 4: had eyes on them.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Well and they know too right that with fantasy football,
- 18:25Speaker 1: people are going to be tuning in to watch every game.
- 18:28Speaker 5: It would be very hard for the NFL to lose
- 18:30Speaker 5: an audience. They'd have to be. It had to get
- 18:33Speaker 5: real nasty out here.
- 18:35Speaker 4: No, I'm talking bad like players, just it would be
- 18:38Speaker 4: it had I don't I don't even know the words
- 18:40Speaker 4: of how bad it could be. Obviously, the injuries play
- 18:43Speaker 4: a role. And I know we did have a year
- 18:45Speaker 4: where I think like all the big time quarterbacks got
- 18:47Speaker 4: hurt and it was kind of rough for a few
- 18:49Speaker 4: weeks because they missed a lot.
- 18:51Speaker 5: I don't I don't remember what season it was. I
- 18:53Speaker 5: think it might have been eighteen or nineteen.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I can't remember off top, but I know just star
- 18:57Speaker 4: quarterbacks were dropping left and right, and it was like, well,
- 19:00Speaker 4: this Thursday night game was supposed to be great, but
- 19:02Speaker 4: here I am watching Jacoby Brissett versus you name a quarterback.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Yeah, that could become a thing.
- 19:08Speaker 4: But even then, there's other positions that stand out to you, like, oh,
- 19:11Speaker 4: the defense is really great, So I get to watch
- 19:13Speaker 4: the defense destroy this backup quarterback with an elite offense.
- 19:18Speaker 2: There just at least we won't have replacement refs.
- 19:20Speaker 4: The only thing is if like the NFL just had
- 19:22Speaker 4: no parody and all the bad teams just stayed bad forever,
- 19:26Speaker 4: which it feels like the Cleveland Browns and a couple
- 19:28Speaker 4: other teams have been.
- 19:30Speaker 5: But even then they get a star player, like, oh,
- 19:32Speaker 5: look look what they got.
- 19:33Speaker 1: You're pulled back in. I will say I do agree
- 19:36Speaker 1: with you. I don't think the NFL could ever do
- 19:38Speaker 1: anything to lose their audience. But I would get to
- 19:40Speaker 1: the point where I'm like, I don't need I don't
- 19:42Speaker 1: need NFL games since.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Day a week and fans there are probably a lot
- 19:46Speaker 4: of fans that feel that way and they'll just watch
- 19:47Speaker 4: their local teams. But the NFL's like, that's great, you're
- 19:49Speaker 4: helping us. You're still you're still feeding the machine. It
- 19:51Speaker 4: might not be nationally, but when your team plays on
- 19:54Speaker 4: a Thursday night game and they stink I either Dolphins,
- 19:58Speaker 4: You're going to watch.
- 19:59Speaker 5: That's eyes on.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Yes, of course you will. And that's more revenue, so
- 20:02Speaker 4: thank you. So yeah, it's it's a fun discussion. We'll
- 20:05Speaker 4: see how it all folds in forty years because guess
- 20:08Speaker 4: what's coming flag football. I know people would like, oh,
- 20:10Speaker 4: it's the stupidest thing ever, but there's eyes on it,
- 20:12Speaker 4: and people watch it and it's very entertaining because they
- 20:14Speaker 4: do what the score. A lot of points. Defense is
- 20:16Speaker 4: not being played. It's a definitely much more safer game
- 20:20Speaker 4: in terms of the contact. And as Americans, we love violence.
- 20:24Speaker 4: That's just it is what it is. You watch Sunday
- 20:26Speaker 4: because you want to see the big hits. You want
- 20:27Speaker 4: to see grown men smashing into each other for sixty minutes.
- 20:30Speaker 1: So well, and I will say as far as these
- 20:32Speaker 1: games go on, you know, on Wednesday, we've got two
- 20:35Speaker 1: games to start the season, and on the night before Thanksgiving, right,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I know, I think that I don't think that the
- 20:42Speaker 1: Super Bowl champions should be starting on a Wednesday.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Est to go.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but at least we're at home and not in Australia,
- 20:48Speaker 1: so I guess you can't complain there. And you've got
- 20:50Speaker 1: a Wednesday game, the night before Thanksgiving, you've got a
- 20:52Speaker 1: Black Friday game, You've got a Chris You've got a
- 20:54Speaker 1: Christmas Friday game.
- 20:56Speaker 2: So I mean, you've got these. It's not like they're.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Putting them every day of the week every week, but
- 21:01Speaker 1: I do think they're not far away from that, like
- 21:04Speaker 1: figuring out a way to make sure that that's a
- 21:05Speaker 1: more common thing.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And that's what I don't want. Use them on special days.
- 21:08Speaker 5: That's okay, screw you, Ashley.
- 21:10Speaker 4: I know they're giving us money. So you know what,
- 21:13Speaker 4: when you see your first Tuesday night game, guess what
- 21:15Speaker 4: we'll all be doing. We'll be sitting there watching. Hell,
- 21:18Speaker 4: we got people watching the Hall of Fame game.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Oh that is terrible. Nobody should watch that Celvil service.
- 21:24Speaker 5: I'm guilty. I end up watching like a quarter and
- 21:26Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, the as the new Guys.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And then you're like, why am I doing this to myself?
- 21:28Speaker 5: Exactly? I go do something else. Maybe you go do
- 21:31Speaker 5: the dishes, Chris, Yeah, that.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Would be more entertaining. I do laundry rather than watch
- 21:34Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame game, and I hate laundry. All right,
- 21:37Speaker 1: what are we even talking about?
- 21:38Speaker 3: Next?
- 21:38Speaker 2: Oh, we got text that's right, it's the question of
- 21:40Speaker 2: the day. So we did ask you.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I could the NFL, I'll ever do too much to
- 21:42Speaker 1: drive you crazy. We also ask you about Mariners. I mean,
- 21:46Speaker 1: we are your therapy line, so just let us know
- 21:47Speaker 1: what you're thinking, how you're feeling. Has your fandom or
- 21:50Speaker 1: your thoughts, optimism negativity changed on the Mariners since the
- 21:54Speaker 1: start of the season. Four nine four five. One is
- 21:56Speaker 1: the Tacoma Dodge text line. We will get to those next.
- 21:58Speaker 1: It's Sports Radio ninety three three JRFM. Sports Radio ninety
- 22:08Speaker 1: three to three KJRFM. It's Ashley Ryan Christopher Kidd in
- 22:11Speaker 1: for Greg Bell. I was just watching a video on
- 22:13Speaker 1: X from the Seahawks. Kid did you see this with
- 22:15Speaker 1: Mina chimes and the spelling bee with.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Blitz, I did not.
- 22:18Speaker 5: I'll have to check that out now.
- 22:20Speaker 1: She asks Blitz to spell offensive as in the offensive
- 22:24Speaker 1: Player of the Year as Jack's and he spells it
- 22:28Speaker 1: defensive and then o ef It's very funny. I liked it.
- 22:33Speaker 2: That was good work by the Seahawks. A little trolling
- 22:34Speaker 2: by the Seahawks.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Good job on the Seahawks.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Yes, yes, very entertaining. All right, this is the time
- 22:39Speaker 1: for us to take your text. As we said, consider
- 22:41Speaker 1: this Mariner's therapy. If you are frustrated, I want to
- 22:44Speaker 1: know how your feelings have changed from the beginning of
- 22:46Speaker 1: the season to the point we are at now. And
- 22:49Speaker 1: also we asked some questions about the NFL. Could they
- 22:51Speaker 1: ever do too much to drive you away or make
- 22:54Speaker 1: you sick of the product? The international games annoy me,
- 22:57Speaker 1: But that is I got my I got that off
- 23:00Speaker 1: my chest already, so we're good. And the Seahawks don't
- 23:02Speaker 1: have any international games, so I really shouldn't be complaining
- 23:05Speaker 1: about that this season. Now, talk to me next season
- 23:08Speaker 1: when they screw us over like they did the forty
- 23:10Speaker 1: nine ers, and we'll have a different story.
- 23:12Speaker 5: If the mayor. If the Seahawks repeat, maybe they won't
- 23:14Speaker 5: get screwed over nofully.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Hopefully that's the goal. So the COVI Dons text line
- 23:19Speaker 1: four nine four or five one.
- 23:20Speaker 2: You can chime in there.
- 23:21Speaker 1: You can also chime in on the YouTube chat. I'm
- 23:23Speaker 1: gonna go to Richard. The four two five started as
- 23:27Speaker 1: world Series or bust. Now I just hope we make
- 23:29Speaker 1: the playoffs and don't take a huge step backwards.
- 23:34Speaker 4: From the two oho six Seattle Mariners twenty twenty six
- 23:37Speaker 4: slogan we can't get out of our own way.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Kyle from ken Moore. Fair enough, fair enough.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Alex the three six O Alexander, Hi everyone, my name
- 23:48Speaker 1: is Alex and I'm a Mariner's addict.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I relapsed again yesterday. That's accurate.
- 23:53Speaker 1: See, and here's the problem, Alex is you're gonna go
- 23:56Speaker 1: they're gonna get a win today, and you're gonna grab
- 23:58Speaker 1: onto that, and then they're gonna diso and then they're
- 24:00Speaker 1: going to surprise you, and then they're going to disappoint you.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And we're all on this roller coaster together.
- 24:05Speaker 5: From the three six.
- 24:06Speaker 4: So when I heard that lineup last night, I said
- 24:09Speaker 4: to myself, two runs tops that's all we're getting.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And what do you know two runs would have sent
- 24:16Speaker 1: us into extra innings. I'm just saying, just saying, the
- 24:21Speaker 1: two six silly me. Very excited for a strong run
- 24:24Speaker 1: this year. I somehow forgot how fifty years of mostly
- 24:27Speaker 1: sucking will probably continue. Dan is completely out of his depth.
- 24:31Speaker 1: The whole pitcher management last night showed he's lost. Didn't
- 24:35Speaker 1: know he couldn't make two consecutive trips to the mound. Really,
- 24:38Speaker 1: all those baseball people in the dugout and nobody knew.
- 24:42Speaker 2: That's a valid question.
- 24:44Speaker 4: From the four two five, I got an idea new
- 24:47Speaker 4: T shirts instead of fifty four percent?
- 24:50Speaker 5: How about stick to the plan?
- 24:52Speaker 1: Stick to the plan while they're doing that. If they
- 24:54Speaker 1: put that on T shirt, I'd get real mad. From
- 24:57Speaker 1: the two six, my confidence is fading fast. This right left,
- 25:01Speaker 1: the left right thing. These guys are professional, Oh that
- 25:03Speaker 1: just went away. There we go professional pitchers. Let them
- 25:06Speaker 1: pitch the strike zones the same, no matter what side
- 25:08Speaker 1: they're standing on the plate. And another thing, you can't
- 25:11Speaker 1: just have a game plan and stick to that plan.
- 25:13Speaker 1: If the game goes completely sideways, you have to be
- 25:15Speaker 1: able to adjust. Well, that's the key you have to
- 25:18Speaker 1: be able to adjust.
- 25:19Speaker 4: This is from the four to two five been out
- 25:22Speaker 4: in Lake Stevens. If they fired Dan Wilson, they will
- 25:25Speaker 4: just replace him with another yes man who will do
- 25:28Speaker 4: what the front office wants him to do. We have
- 25:31Speaker 4: seen this platoon stuff all year and we continue to
- 25:35Speaker 4: do it rather than let guys hit every day and
- 25:38Speaker 4: see guys pitch both right and left headed consistently. Front
- 25:41Speaker 4: office doesn't have the sense to admit that they should
- 25:44Speaker 4: have done a better job of managing the game to
- 25:48Speaker 4: the manager, and that's why the manners are third rate organization.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Shikes, hmmm, out harsh words. But hey again, this is
- 25:55Speaker 1: your therapy line. You gotta say what you gotta say. Yeah,
- 25:58Speaker 1: from the two five three. I watch the Mariners almost
- 26:00Speaker 1: every night. How badly do you think Goldsmith wants to
- 26:02Speaker 1: just yell.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Hit the effing ball? Probably really bad. I would like
- 26:07Speaker 2: him to.
- 26:07Speaker 5: Yell that kid, question mark. The bases were loaded and
- 26:11Speaker 5: they brought one run in. But yeah, needs to be
- 26:14Speaker 5: a lot better, I hear you.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yeah, as I said, that was my note in the
- 26:21Speaker 1: first sitting. Is this going to come back to haunt us?
- 26:23Speaker 3: What do you know?
- 26:24Speaker 1: It came back not I mean I feel very haunted,
- 26:27Speaker 1: very very haunted from the two five to three. Yeah,
- 26:33Speaker 1: the game's on almost every day.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Of the week is too much.
- 26:35Speaker 1: It's been eleven years since me and my wife got together,
- 26:37Speaker 1: and she's learned. On Sundays, I'm watching football all day.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And then if my favorite team is playing on a
- 26:41Speaker 1: Monday or a Thursday, I can watch those as well.
- 26:44Speaker 1: But I can't justify spending all day Sunday, Monday night,
- 26:47Speaker 1: Thursday night, Wednesday night watching football.
- 26:49Speaker 2: That's a lot agreed from a two oh six.
- 26:52Speaker 4: The NFL can go to pay per view, pay for view,
- 26:57Speaker 4: that would drive me away, almost doing it now with
- 26:59Speaker 4: some of the streaming games, Okay, that makes sense. I know. Yeah,
- 27:03Speaker 4: a lot of people we just have cable and you're
- 27:04Speaker 4: talking about Amazon, Hulu and all these streaming service.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yet Amazon, Hulu, Prime, Netflix.
- 27:09Speaker 4: But the only issue is the younger folks, not saying
- 27:13Speaker 4: you're old whoever this is, but the younger generation they
- 27:15Speaker 4: all have the streaming.
- 27:16Speaker 5: I mean, look at myself, I have everything.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Yeah we have, we can watch every single NFL game,
- 27:21Speaker 1: But like Chuck will say, I'm not ever, I'm not
- 27:23Speaker 1: getting Amazon Prime, I'm not downloading these apps so that
- 27:26Speaker 1: I can watch it.
- 27:26Speaker 5: I believe Chuck. Yes, I too.
- 27:28Speaker 2: So he's kind of a guy who sticks to the
- 27:31Speaker 2: things he says. He's a stickler in his ways. Let's
- 27:34Speaker 2: see we.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Did get from the two five three. NFL doesn't care
- 27:38Speaker 1: about the game. They only care about the business. Well,
- 27:41Speaker 1: they definitely see the money that the game produces. I'd
- 27:43Speaker 1: say they care about the game. I don't think they
- 27:46Speaker 1: care about the fans or the have concern about the fans,
- 27:49Speaker 1: because if they did, we wouldn't be having international games
- 27:53Speaker 1: at six am on a Sunday morning if they cared
- 27:55Speaker 1: about the fans.
- 27:56Speaker 5: I remember the Seahawks played the Bucks and I want
- 27:58Speaker 5: to say it was is in? Was it in London?
- 28:03Speaker 5: Where was that game? Was on? Grassic playing Germany? Germany? Yeah,
- 28:06Speaker 5: six am? I was. I was not too happy about
- 28:08Speaker 5: at five thirty and.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Trying to Yeah.
- 28:11Speaker 1: And the games are always underwhelming too. You never turn
- 28:13Speaker 1: on an international game and think like, oh my god,
- 28:15Speaker 1: that was just the best game I've ever watched. There's
- 28:16Speaker 1: something weird about it, the way it looks field something
- 28:19Speaker 1: it always it doesn't feel like the same game.
- 28:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:22Speaker 4: From the two five three, no one should have ever
- 28:24Speaker 4: supported international games.
- 28:26Speaker 5: Think about it. Do you ever see Real Madrid and
- 28:29Speaker 5: Man City play regular season games?
- 28:31Speaker 2: No, it's always an exhibition.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Yeah, always an exhibition, because I've gone to a Real
- 28:35Speaker 1: Madrid exhibition game when David Beckham was playing for them.
- 28:39Speaker 4: I got a funny one from the two five to three.
- 28:42Speaker 4: I watched the Mariners almost every night. How bad you
- 28:44Speaker 4: read it?
- 28:45Speaker 5: Again? It was good?
- 28:47Speaker 1: Well, Chris and Ashley the n This is from the
- 28:49Speaker 1: four two five. The n C two A managed to
- 28:51Speaker 1: kill my enthusiasm. So it's possible the NFL could do it,
- 28:54Speaker 1: but it would take a lot of village idiots to
- 28:56Speaker 1: devise the plan.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Speaking of plans, from the two five to three, Dan Wilson,
- 29:04Speaker 4: Dan Wilson, Dan Wilson, freak. I'm so frustrated with the Mariners.
- 29:08Speaker 4: I love this team, but freak. I like the usage
- 29:12Speaker 4: of freak there. Yeah, proud of you.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Fudge would have also worked, all right, Well, thank you.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I feel like reading those texts gave me some therapy.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, more three.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Just sell them.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Lol.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Well that's been the mantra forever, hasn't it. It's not
- 29:31Speaker 2: gonna happen. It's definitely not gonna happen.
- 29:33Speaker 1: We are gonna be joined by the mayor coming up,
- 29:35Speaker 1: because I feel like he's probably got some irritations that
- 29:38Speaker 1: he would like to share about the Mariners last night
- 29:41Speaker 1: as well.
- 29:42Speaker 2: And uh, you know what, he gets a.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Little bit more bitter than me, and I want him
- 29:46Speaker 1: to drive the bitter bus for this last segment. It's
- 29:48Speaker 1: Sports Radio ninety three to three kJ r FM. Sports
- 29:59Speaker 1: Radio ninety three to three kJ r FM. It is
- 30:02Speaker 1: Ashley Ryan Christopher Kidd in for Greg Bell, and we
- 30:05Speaker 1: are now joined by the mayor of Mabel Valley one,
- 30:07Speaker 1: Ian Furness, and Ian, I'm gonna start off with a
- 30:10Speaker 1: question for you. This is a question that Jake Wittenberg
- 30:13Speaker 1: put out this morning. All right from King five.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Okay, he said, how do you feel today? Mariners fans
- 30:19Speaker 2: feel great? Yeah, you feel good? Feel like nothing. Now
- 30:23Speaker 2: you need to get off your chest.
- 30:24Speaker 6: You're gonna lose. Just give us something to talk about.
- 30:26Speaker 6: So and they did.
- 30:27Speaker 2: That is the truth.
- 30:29Speaker 1: This one I liked from one of the responses to
- 30:31Speaker 1: his question from Fritz. Fritz not great, pessimistic, frustrated, disappointed,
- 30:37Speaker 1: really questioning whether Dan Wilson is the guy or not
- 30:40Speaker 1: just another hump D and m's fanland.
- 30:42Speaker 2: How about you.
- 30:42Speaker 6: Well, it's exactly the Dan Wilson questions through eight innings.
- 30:51Speaker 6: Pretty good, m. Yeah, and then we got to the ninth.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Then we got to the ninth.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Okay, so let's start there though, the piggyback. Would you
- 30:58Speaker 1: be up for that again?
- 30:59Speaker 3: Sure? Yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I feel like it worked, aside from CEO going back
- 31:03Speaker 2: and then, I.
- 31:03Speaker 6: Mean, I just think they get in their own way. Yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 6: I just it feels like they get in their own way.
- 31:08Speaker 6: They're trying to be the smartest guys in the room sometimes, yes,
- 31:11Speaker 6: and when you do that, you're usually not. And I
- 31:13Speaker 6: think that's what happened in that situation, is that they
- 31:17Speaker 6: the I mean I thought they took Miller out too.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Soon, agreed. I thought he was pleading his case too
- 31:23Speaker 2: to stay.
- 31:23Speaker 6: In, and those guys know, like he knows, he knows
- 31:27Speaker 6: his own body, he knows what he's and his velocity
- 31:29Speaker 6: was fine. Yeah, So I thought they took him out
- 31:31Speaker 6: too early. So then you burn forrair yep, Munyo's if
- 31:35Speaker 6: you're not going to start the ninth. I mean it's
- 31:38Speaker 6: not like they were battering the rock around, no, like
- 31:40Speaker 6: a couple you know. The bleeder and all just he
- 31:45Speaker 6: performed well he did, and I thought you got for him,
- 31:49Speaker 6: you got about eighty percent of what you wanted to
- 31:51Speaker 6: get accomplished. Accomplished you got. He kind of found himself again.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Let him finish, yeah, and feel feel good.
- 31:58Speaker 6: But if you're not going to do that, then Munyo's art.
- 32:00Speaker 6: The Knights right in the city put Munyos in with
- 32:03Speaker 6: no margin of error, like none, right, And I know
- 32:06Speaker 6: he's the closer and he's sort of used to that,
- 32:08Speaker 6: but I mean, I think you got to look at
- 32:10Speaker 6: like from a mental standpoint, what's he thinking down the ball?
- 32:14Speaker 6: Like they got him up quick, like he wasn't even
- 32:17Speaker 6: warming up to start there. He was in with his
- 32:19Speaker 6: hands in his pockets, and then all of a sudden,
- 32:21Speaker 6: Runner gets on and he kind of gets up and
- 32:24Speaker 6: then and then all hell breaks loose, and then we
- 32:27Speaker 6: have the situation where Dan doesn't know the rules, and
- 32:31Speaker 6: they send Pete Woodworth out there to to delay install
- 32:34Speaker 6: and give Munos more time. But Munyos was rush getting ready,
- 32:37Speaker 6: and I just you know, they just can't get out
- 32:40Speaker 6: of their own way. No, But then we go back
- 32:42Speaker 6: to the other part of it, and they had one
- 32:44Speaker 6: hit for the second time in three games.
- 32:45Speaker 1: You're right, and that is the thing that keeps kind
- 32:47Speaker 1: of I would say it's overlooked, but it is. Everybody's
- 32:49Speaker 1: so frustrated with the other stuff. It's like, yeah, but
- 32:51Speaker 1: you get more than one hit in the game against.
- 32:54Speaker 6: You against it well, and I mean k threw thirty pitches,
- 32:58Speaker 6: thirty four pitches the first city count up high, couldn't
- 33:01Speaker 6: throw a strike and you get one run.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Yeah, bases loaded. We were talking we started the show.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I was reading my notes that I'd taken throughout the game,
- 33:09Speaker 1: so I heard that.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:10Speaker 2: The first thing was is this going to come back
- 33:12Speaker 2: to haunt us? And it came back to haunt us?
- 33:14Speaker 6: And it did. Yeah, totally did.
- 33:15Speaker 1: And you say like they try to be the smartest
- 33:17Speaker 1: person in the room. I described it the other day
- 33:19Speaker 1: to check as It's like everyone's playing checkers, but we've
- 33:21Speaker 1: decided we're smarter than that. We're going to come in
- 33:23Speaker 1: and play chess. Yeah, well, base ball is a game
- 33:26Speaker 1: of checkers. Just play checkers.
- 33:27Speaker 6: They just double hot. Yeah, bounced it right.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Yeah, they did, just play the game.
- 33:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I just I.
- 33:34Speaker 6: You know, I'm going to go through the first segment.
- 33:35Speaker 6: I mean there it's interesting looking at the last five
- 33:38Speaker 6: years of where they've been. At this point, they're fifty
- 33:40Speaker 6: games in now, this is game fifty one tonight are today,
- 33:43Speaker 6: and you know it's they've bounced back before, but this
- 33:48Speaker 6: is their worst start in a while.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:50Speaker 6: And I know they've had injuries, but they've had injury.
- 33:53Speaker 6: Here's the thing. They've had injuries before, it's just different injuries.
- 33:56Speaker 6: Like before, the injuries were pitching staff injuries. This time
- 34:00Speaker 6: it's because I don't think you really count Bryce because
- 34:03Speaker 6: Hamcock's been so good. They've had five healthy starters. They've
- 34:06Speaker 6: been fine there. Munos has been healthy right now. I
- 34:10Speaker 6: know leverage guys haven't been but Forrere has been a revelation.
- 34:12Speaker 6: He's been fine. Yeah. So so I don't use the
- 34:15Speaker 6: injuries as an excuse because everybody has those. And and
- 34:17Speaker 6: again kind of based on the past few years, they've
- 34:20Speaker 6: had other injuries. It's not like Cal is helping you.
- 34:23Speaker 2: No, No, you can't blame you can't blame this on
- 34:25Speaker 2: Cal being out.
- 34:26Speaker 6: The Cal injury is not as a non factor because
- 34:28Speaker 6: Cal Cal in the lineup was a non factor well.
- 34:30Speaker 1: And yeah, and Brendan Donovan in the lineup helped, but
- 34:33Speaker 1: they weren't winning, so him being out really isn't and
- 34:35Speaker 1: he has.
- 34:35Speaker 6: Been in and out the whole year. So yeah, I
- 34:38Speaker 6: think they got They just have. They have a lot
- 34:39Speaker 6: of issues. By the way, I've got can I can
- 34:41Speaker 6: I switch something up?
- 34:42Speaker 1: Oh?
- 34:42Speaker 6: Yes, I've got it. I got a bone to pick
- 34:45Speaker 6: with me. Yes, did you say I think I'm paraphrase?
- 34:49Speaker 6: Did you say Sga is fun to watch? What was
- 34:53Speaker 6: it you said about him those comments?
- 34:55Speaker 3: Oh?
- 34:55Speaker 2: Because I watched him on the Starting Five on Netflix.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Okay, and so I really liked him, like he seems
- 35:03Speaker 1: like a good guy and he was fun to watch
- 35:04Speaker 1: on that show.
- 35:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I tell you. Watch him on the floor, Well,
- 35:07Speaker 6: flops around like a FIFA soccer.
- 35:09Speaker 1: As I've said in I said this last year. If
- 35:12Speaker 1: I didn't hate Oklahoma City, I would probably enjoy watching them,
- 35:15Speaker 1: But I hate them so much. I get no enjoyment
- 35:17Speaker 1: out of watching.
- 35:17Speaker 6: I can't watch him play.
- 35:19Speaker 2: I just fair head.
- 35:21Speaker 6: They like soccer, yes, but Canadians don't flop. They don't flop.
- 35:27Speaker 6: You don't see hockey, Pollo.
- 35:28Speaker 2: No, I saw you flopping around the office the other day.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I know I do.
- 35:30Speaker 6: I just every now that just walk out, I got me.
- 35:34Speaker 6: I mean he's so talented. Yes, O, my god, Chris,
- 35:37Speaker 6: do you agree, Like, like, can we just stop with
- 35:40Speaker 6: the flopping.
- 35:42Speaker 4: It's an interesting one because he is playing smart basketball.
- 35:48Speaker 4: He is able to deceive the officials. Yeah, it allows
- 35:52Speaker 4: he has he has worked the system pretty well. Yes,
- 35:56Speaker 4: and that was something Joel Embiid has done in his career.
- 35:59Speaker 4: A seven foot that gets the foul line twelve times
- 36:02Speaker 4: a game. Yeah, gets his points efficiently. He's not doing
- 36:05Speaker 4: it the wrong way right right, He's playing within the
- 36:07Speaker 4: means of the game. He just happens to deceive.
- 36:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 4: And if you're a fan of the NBA game in itself,
- 36:12Speaker 4: where you you get to the foul line, but you're
- 36:14Speaker 4: not out here deceiving like Kobe, he didn't really deceive you.
- 36:17Speaker 5: He just had a couple of moves and to get fouled, right.
- 36:19Speaker 6: Well, Kobe just yeah, shop, let's go, yeah exactly where.
- 36:23Speaker 5: Now you have a guy who was limber, skinnier.
- 36:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and he's really good, but he's also found a
- 36:28Speaker 4: way to you know what, ends efficiating me. And I'm
- 36:31Speaker 4: gonna make sure he sees this guy grabbing me. Yeah,
- 36:33Speaker 4: and you can't ignore that Nora. Well, it's like the
- 36:37Speaker 4: head snapping back and all that stuff. I guess it's
- 36:40Speaker 4: just anything having to do with them. I don't like
- 36:42Speaker 4: so No, that's fair. It's it's flopping. Everyone could average
- 36:45Speaker 4: thirty efficiently. The sad part is no, not everybody can.
- 36:48Speaker 6: The hard thing, guys, is it is it? They've signed
- 36:49Speaker 6: all those guys like they're all under contract.
- 36:52Speaker 5: It's gonna be a while. It's not like.
- 36:53Speaker 6: It's not like the last the last iteration of them
- 36:57Speaker 6: where they lost everybody. They all left that dustbel they
- 37:00Speaker 6: all going to continue. They're all there. It's the worst
- 37:03Speaker 6: part about it. Come on, Hey, could be a big
- 37:07Speaker 6: one tonight, though. San Antonio wins, that's a big one.
- 37:10Speaker 6: Like all of a sudden you're down two, oh, losing
- 37:11Speaker 6: two at home, that's yeah, that's a that's a different deal.
- 37:15Speaker 5: So we'll see what coach adjustments he makes tonight. I'm curious.
- 37:18Speaker 6: I don't think they're gonna lose too in a row
- 37:19Speaker 6: at home. But to dream, yes, that's right there. To dream.
- 37:23Speaker 2: And before we let you go, what's coming up on
- 37:26Speaker 2: your show?
- 37:27Speaker 6: Ken John kens Awys gonna join us coming up at one.
- 37:29Speaker 6: A lot to talk about in college athletics, changing landscape.
- 37:34Speaker 6: What's going on there is crazy and uh so we'll talk.
- 37:37Speaker 6: But also what's going on in Portland. I brought this
- 37:39Speaker 6: up yesterday. I the Tom Dundon Portland Trailblazer stuff. Is
- 37:44Speaker 6: it's just almost to a to a tee is out
- 37:47Speaker 6: of the Clayton Bennett, Yeah, two thousand and six Clayton
- 37:50Speaker 6: Bennett playbook.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Le's see how cheap we can be with the team
- 37:52Speaker 2: we just bought.
- 37:52Speaker 6: And why Yeah, like the answer the question is why,
- 37:56Speaker 6: maybe he's just cheap or maybe there's you know, like
- 37:59Speaker 6: the Clayton Bennett playbook, which again, this is what this
- 38:01Speaker 6: guy's doing in a lot of different ways. And oh,
- 38:04Speaker 6: by the way, the lease is in terms of terms
- 38:06Speaker 6: of the lease left on the lease exactly the same
- 38:09Speaker 6: three years I remember we got they bought out the
- 38:12Speaker 6: final year here. But what's what's his endgame? I just,
- 38:18Speaker 6: in a day and age in which we're trying to
- 38:19Speaker 6: get the NBA back, I asked myself, what's the NBA doing? Like,
- 38:22Speaker 6: what are they doing? They let this guy in the club.
- 38:24Speaker 6: Everyone in the NHL knew he was a just take
- 38:27Speaker 6: the on ice success away. And people will bring this
- 38:32Speaker 6: up oh, well, you know, look he you know, he
- 38:34Speaker 6: said yesterday or a podcast recently, I want to spend
- 38:37Speaker 6: money on winning, right, you know when we do that
- 38:39Speaker 6: in Carolina. Well, everyone in the NHL spends effectively to
- 38:42Speaker 6: the cap. There's a basement and there's a floor, and
- 38:45Speaker 6: there's a cap, and the cap in the NHL is
- 38:47Speaker 6: hard and all that. So you can't use the NHL
- 38:50Speaker 6: salary cap, which is more similar to the NFL salary
- 38:53Speaker 6: cap than it is to NBA because the nbasically the
- 38:57Speaker 6: luxury tax and all that stuff, and the NHL has
- 38:59Speaker 6: a little lee way with injured reserve and things, but
- 39:01Speaker 6: that's mostly considered cheating Vegas talking to you, So like
- 39:05Speaker 6: you can't use that as like, hey, you know he'll
- 39:07Speaker 6: spend money there to win. No, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 39:09Speaker 6: it's not the same thing. So my question is, like,
- 39:12Speaker 6: if they let this guy in the league, what are
- 39:13Speaker 6: they gonna do here? I mean, I think Sam Holloway
- 39:16Speaker 6: and her group would be it's the one that makes sense,
- 39:19Speaker 6: But God, could they let somebody else in here that
- 39:21Speaker 6: would just be an awful owner. They could a new franchise.
- 39:25Speaker 6: That worries me. Yeah, totally worries me, so old time
- 39:27Speaker 6: comes out about that in college all things college sports
- 39:29Speaker 6: as well, come right. But at one o'clock today Todd
- 39:32Speaker 6: will preview the Mariner game coming up in the first seging,
- 39:34Speaker 6: first hour of the show or so.
- 39:35Speaker 2: And in a way we go, all right, Cole Young
- 39:37Speaker 2: leading off for the Mariners today.
- 39:38Speaker 6: There you go, see that?
- 39:39Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, that is coming up with the mayor
- 39:41Speaker 2: of Maple Valley. I in forness. Next, did Sports Radio
- 39:43Speaker 2: ninety three three KJRFM
