- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn French with Fexingo! I'm Lucas, and with me is Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! I'm so ready for today. I've been wanting to go to the movies in French. Lucas: Oh, great idea. Movies are a perfect way to practice. So today we're learning how to buy tickets and talk about films. Luna: Yes! I always get nervous at the ticket counter. Let's start with an easy one: 'I would like two tickets.' Lucas: Exactly. In French, that's 'Je voudrais deux billets.' Let me say it slowly: Je voudrais deux billets. Luna: Je voudrais deux billets. Lucas: Perfect. 'Je voudrais' means 'I would like.' 'Deux' is 'two,' and 'billets' are tickets. Luna: So if I want two tickets for a movie, I say 'Je voudrais deux billets.' Lucas: Right. Now, the cashier might ask you 'Quel film joue?' meaning 'Which movie is playing?' Luna: Quel film joue? So that's 'which film plays' literally. Lucas: Exactly. You can answer with the title, like 'Le film d'animation' or whatever. Luna: Got it. And then I need to know the time. How do I ask 'What time is it at?' Lucas: That's 'C'est à quelle heure?' C'est à quelle heure? Luna: C'est à quelle heure? So if the movie starts at seven, they'd say 'C'est à sept heures.' Lucas: Yes. And you might also ask 'C'est combien?' for 'How much is it?' Luna: C'est combien? That's easy. Like 'C'est combien pour deux billets?' Lucas: Perfect. Now, what if the showing is sold out? They might say 'La séance est complète.' Luna: La séance est complète. 'Séance' is showing, 'complète' is full. That's good to know. Lucas: Yes. And finally, once you're inside, you can say 'J'aime ce film' — 'I like this movie.' Luna: J'aime ce film. Simple. So let's practice a mini scene. I walk up and say 'Je voudrais deux billets.' Lucas: Great. And I'm the cashier. I ask 'Quel film joue?' Luna: Uh... 'Le film d'action.' And then I ask 'C'est à quelle heure?' Lucas: I say 'À vingt heures.' Then you ask 'C'est combien?' Luna: C'est combien? You say 'Douze euros.' I pay and say 'Merci!' Lucas: Excellent! You just did a whole transaction. And if the cashier says 'La séance est complète,' you know to try another time. Luna: Right. Or I can ask for a different movie. By the way, if Fexingo's been helping you make progress with French, we have a small request. Lucas: Yeah. If you've enjoyed these episodes and want to support us keeping them ad-free, you can buy us a coffee. Luna: It's at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Every little bit helps us keep making content. Lucas: And now back to the cinema. Let's practice 'J'aime ce film' — say it with me: J'aime ce film. Luna: J'aime ce film. I'll use that after I watch a good one. Lucas: Perfect. So today we learned: Je voudrais deux billets, Quel film joue, C'est à quelle heure, C'est combien, La séance est complète, and J'aime ce film. Luna: That's six phrases. Not bad for a quick trip to the movies. Lucas: Practice them out loud. Imagine you're at the cinema in Paris. Thanks for listening, and we'll see you next time. Luna: À bientôt!
