  And on this episode, we're going to be talking about the dart

  Mission. We're going to be talking a

  little bit about hls. It's a more SpaceX news so let's
• 0:16
  first go over kind of what's going on with this Dart Mission
• 0:19
  its capital, D, a r t. It's going to be happening
• 0:23
  Tuesday and this is a really important mission.
• 0:27
  This is for Asteroid Defense, Celestial body defense.
• 0:32
  Anything to do with moving a Celestial body.
• 0:34
  That's what DART is kind of going after here, but this will
• 0:37
  be the first time in human history that people will be
• 0:41
  trying to move something in space.
• 0:45
  A Celestial body this asteroid with something that we built
• 0:48
  here on Earth. So something that doesn't belong
• 0:51
  to us. We've never touched and we're
• 0:53
  going to crash something into it.
• 0:56
  And we're going to try to move it a little bit is going to move
• 0:58
  the orbit of this thing. It'll move the the asteroid into
• 1:03
  a slightly different orbit. And you know what the trajectory
• 1:08
  of this thing for the first time ever, how cool is that?

  So this mission is for future Earth, future people, if you
• 1:16
  will, and this will be kind of deflecting celestial bodies from
• 1:21
  Earth, but I'll be protecting the, our precious home planet
• 1:25
  from celestial. Is the me want to crash into it
• 1:28
  and cause another Extinction event.
• 1:30
  So Dart is our first chance to actually test these theories of
• 1:36
  what will happen if you smash something into an asteroid or
• 1:39
  another Celestial body kind of bounce off it.

  And push it a little bit. The size of the dart mission is
• 1:46
  about the size of a golf cart pretty small for a spacecraft,
• 1:52
  but also it's going to be destroyed.
• 1:54
  But it's crashing into Dy Morpheus which is 525, feet,
• 2:01
  estimated, they don't really know the exact shape of the
• 2:03
  moonlit, but they do know the precise size of it 525 feet.

  So it's going to be crashing into this thing.

  It's fifty nine feet wide. Dart is an eight point, five
• 2:14
  feet high, the dart Mission will launch on top of a falcon 9
• 2:18
  block 5 from Vandenberg space Force Base.

  At about, 10:20 1 p.m. Pacific time though, it will be
• 2:26
  launching on Tuesday. It's not going to reach the
• 2:30
  objective until next fall. So it's going to orbit the sun
• 2:34
  on a collision course that will give it some time to catch up to
• 2:39
  it. It's going to smash into it and
• 2:40
  hopefully if all goes, well, It'll move it into a little bit
• 2:44
  of a different orbit. Different place in space and no
• 2:48
  threat to humanity, no threat to Earth and it about an hour
• 2:51
  before it crashes into this thing.

  It's going to take over by itself.
• 2:56
  The computers going to take over, let's get a spot.
• 2:59
  This little moonlit die morphus. And then it's going to attempt
• 3:03
  to crash into it. The spacecraft is 1200 pounds.

  It's going to be crashing into this thing at 15,000.

  Miles per hour. So hopefully it either makes
• 3:15
  like, a big chunk, out of this thing.

  Takes a big chunk out of this thing or actually moves.

  It will see what happens there, and they don't want to smash it
• 3:22
  though. They want to keep it intact
• 3:25
  because if they smash it it gets unruly.

  It gets kind of crazy things, go everywhere, and then it's
• 3:31
  unpredictable. So, it could house giant pieces
• 3:35
  of metal. And those pieces of metal could
• 3:38
  come into Earth's orbit. Makes it super dangerous, so
• 3:42
  nudging. Little bit is okay, but smashing
• 3:45
  it into a bunch of pieces, not, okay.
• 3:47
  So they're going to try to push it, and that's about it.

  So let's talk about dear moon for a little bit.

  If you're not familiar. Dear moon is SpaceX and mzs
• 3:59
  private. Spaceflight long-duration, space
• 4:02
  flight around the Moon and back, this may happen in 2023. 2024

  somewhere around there, SpaceX has to do a long-duration
• 4:11
  spaceflight. A test of a Starship for the hls
• 4:15
  program. So this could possibly be that
• 4:18
  mission. We're could be adjacent to that
• 4:20
  mission. Could be near that mission.

  So they need to do this empty already paid for it.

  So there has been some talk about the hls program.

  Hls is the human Landing system which will be sending people
• 7:55
  down to the Moon via a Starship. A SpaceX Starship and Toby lie

  on Twitter. Says Toby's very reliable source

  from NASA. NASA officials are meeting with
• 8:07
  SpaceX and two weeks to resume the hls, Starship development
• 8:11
  after a seven-month pause due to lawsuit by Blue origin.

  Blue origin, put a wrench in things instead of just standing
• 8:21
  back and saying, okay, this is school, you guys won.

  They took it to court, seven months later, they lost SpaceX
• 8:31
  and NASA are resuming talks about the hls program.

  Now SpaceX is, of course, still building Starship down in Boca,

  Chica, Texas, they're doing their orbital flight test,

  possibly early next year, January February, March.

  contractors are talking about here, over a hundred thousand

  dollars, I think it was a couple hundred thousand dollars in

  lobbying fees so just so you know that and I posted that the

  other day too. So, Elon Musk said, tragically.

  It is not clear that the defense contractors can get to the moon

  for any amount of money. More than 200 billion has been
• 10:06
  spent on development of new u.s. crude space Transport Systems
• 10:10
  over Over the past 40 years, but only the dragon is flying
• 10:16
  development cost to NASA was less than 2 billion.

  So crew Dragon cargo Dragon. Both flying 200 billion from the
• 10:26
  defense contractors. Can't get this done but under 2
• 10:30
  billion from SpaceX can get it done.

  Yeah. It's a lot less money 200

  billion to two billion, two hundred dollars could read a $2,

  you can see the difference. It's a huge amount of a

  difference there, so he'll on just making his voice heard,

  letting people know what's going on with the money. 40 years to

  get us back to space. Ilan, did it with crew dragon,

  and we were hitching rides with the Russians for a while there.

  But now we're back with crew, dragon and Falcon 9 with the

  Through missions with NASA but also getting us back to the Moon

  with hls with SpaceX and also with the space launch system in

  the Artemis program, it's happening, people, it's

  happening. It's all going to be happening

  soon to, hopefully Starship launches early next year.

  Quarter one or two of next year and SLS.

  Hopefully early next year as well.

  So it's going to be a really exciting time for space flight
