- 0:32Speaker 4: You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Taylor told me to push the phone number because we
- 0:38Speaker 1: haven't taken a call in months.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
- 0:43Speaker 5: What is Alan Albuquerque doing with himself?
- 0:47Speaker 1: Eight seven seven ninety nine On Fox? This is me
- 0:50Speaker 1: pushing the phone number eight seven seven ninety nine.
- 0:54Speaker 3: On Fox. Mikey A on the Zoom tailor in the
- 0:56Speaker 3: VIP room along with bord ot Ricardo.
- 0:59Speaker 1: He has to be so confused sometimes, born ut Ricardo.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Is he in studio with me? Just about everything?
- 1:04Speaker 3: All of it? Yes?
- 1:05Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We have Seth Davis is going to join us at
- 1:07Speaker 1: three thirty. We have Juju Smith Schuster going to join
- 1:11Speaker 1: us at four thirty.
- 1:13Speaker 3: We have no more.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Undefeated teams left in Major League Baseball. We will get
- 1:19Speaker 1: to the sound of Mike Francessa here in just a second.
- 1:22Speaker 3: We have some Tiger Woods news to get to as well.
- 1:25Speaker 3: But is he?
- 1:26Speaker 1: I kept asking, I kept asking our executive producer, our
- 1:30Speaker 1: fearless leader, Taylor, what do you want to talk about today?
- 1:36Speaker 1: And the response I kept getting from Taylor was, I
- 1:40Speaker 1: had a take on social media that went viral.
- 1:45Speaker 7: I feel like that word is getting used a little
- 1:47Speaker 7: loosely these days.
- 1:48Speaker 5: What does it mean to go viral? Your take to
- 1:50Speaker 5: go viral?
- 1:51Speaker 8: Taylor?
- 1:51Speaker 9: I don't know so right now it has two hundred
- 1:55Speaker 9: and twenty six thousand views on Twitter viral And is he?
- 1:59Speaker 9: It was because I was tweeting about the Tommy Lloyd
- 2:02Speaker 9: to Carolina. Potentially that market has been impacted by Calshi.
- 2:07Speaker 9: People are saying it's Billy Donovan, but it's people that
- 2:10Speaker 9: work for Calshie, and they're most likely just gonna dump
- 2:14Speaker 9: that and try to make a quick profit off that.
- 2:18Speaker 9: So I tweeted because I'm clicking on some people's profile
- 2:21Speaker 9: and it's like Carolina basketball, Alabama football, and I tweeted,
- 2:26Speaker 9: if your favorite college football team is different from your
- 2:29Speaker 9: favorite college basketball team.
- 2:31Speaker 8: Nobody respects you.
- 2:32Speaker 7: Oh man, what a take is it? I mean, it's incredible. Yes,
- 2:38Speaker 7: I've never really thought about this. Like I guess, it
- 2:41Speaker 7: wasn't until I got to college that I had an
- 2:44Speaker 7: official favorite college basketball team, because when I was growing up,
- 2:48Speaker 7: before I got to the University Florida, it was Duke
- 2:50Speaker 7: and North Carolina. Not necessarily that or I think I
- 2:52Speaker 7: was a North Carolina fan first, and then I became
- 2:55Speaker 7: a little bit of a Duke fan. But then when
- 2:56Speaker 7: I got to Florida, it was just all Florida, and
- 2:58Speaker 7: it was obviously Florida football too, right, But you can't
- 3:01Speaker 7: have one and then the other, especially if you went
- 3:04Speaker 7: to one of the schools and then have.
- 3:05Speaker 5: A favorite program or favorite sport from another.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Progress.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So you grew up down here in Miami, did you
- 3:10Speaker 1: root for the Hurricanes as your football team growing up?
- 3:13Speaker 5: I did, and you were edge football team and you
- 3:15Speaker 5: rooted it.
- 3:15Speaker 3: In terms of basketball, it was Carolina and Duke.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Okay, So can we put a.
- 3:19Speaker 7: Little caveat or little detail in there? Sure under eighteen
- 3:23Speaker 7: doesn't count.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Now, there should be caveats and there should be details
- 3:27Speaker 1: here because I agree with you, like you didn't have
- 3:28Speaker 1: a team to root for, and Miami growing up was
- 3:31Speaker 1: the best team in college football.
- 3:33Speaker 7: And they didn't have a college basketball team really to
- 3:35Speaker 7: speak up, So if they would have, probably would have
- 3:38Speaker 7: paired that.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So you go to Florida, Is there any part of
- 3:40Speaker 1: you still rooting for the University of Miami or Carolina
- 3:43Speaker 1: or Duke.
- 3:44Speaker 7: The second I walked on that campus, all favoritism I
- 3:47Speaker 7: had toward UM disappeared.
- 3:49Speaker 9: Okay, much like Izzy, I grew up both a USC
- 3:53Speaker 9: football fan and a UNC basketball fan.
- 3:56Speaker 8: Then I turned ten.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Yeah, you gotta make a choice at some point.
- 4:02Speaker 7: You know, that's probably about the time, because yeah, I
- 4:05Speaker 7: would say my fifteen sixteen years old, like I was
- 4:08Speaker 7: a UM basketball fan, but I definitely still had a split.
- 4:11Speaker 7: I'm sorry, un football fan, but I definitely had a
- 4:13Speaker 7: split with basketball. But I wasn't like a diehard. If
- 4:16Speaker 7: there was social media back then, I wouldn't say M's
- 4:19Speaker 7: my football team and Carolina's my basketball team.
- 4:21Speaker 5: I would just mention the football team.
- 4:24Speaker 3: So help me.
- 4:24Speaker 1: At least you weren't front running rooting for those two teams,
- 4:27Speaker 1: Carolina and Duke.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I mean, but help me out here. So once you
- 4:30Speaker 3: get what.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Kid is going to go for a bunch of losers.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You're right, Well, me and Mikey there you go, and
- 4:36Speaker 1: that's about it and all Jet fans. But help me
- 4:38Speaker 1: out here. So you're a UM fan, they give you
- 4:42Speaker 1: some great moments growing up. Do you blame a kid
- 4:45Speaker 1: if he's from Miami goes to the University of Florida
- 4:48Speaker 1: and still is a Miami Hurricane football fan?
- 4:50Speaker 5: I mean, like you.
- 4:51Speaker 7: Donnis Hasley, for example, famously went to the University of
- 4:54Speaker 7: Florida and remained the University of Miami fan.
- 4:57Speaker 5: No, I don't.
- 4:58Speaker 7: I don't hate that because, frankly, I mean he went
- 5:01Speaker 7: there to do a job. He went there to get
- 5:02Speaker 7: himself ready for the NBA. For me, yeah, no, I
- 5:06Speaker 7: don't blame people. I mean, your home is your home.
- 5:07Speaker 7: If that, you know, stays truer to who you are,
- 5:11Speaker 7: then yeah, you can keep cheering for me.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I see the wheels turning there, Mikeya, what are you thinking.
- 5:15Speaker 10: I'm just trying to think if I agree with it
- 5:17Speaker 10: or not, because I don't know that I have that.
- 5:21Speaker 10: I think I'm a fan of a different college basketball
- 5:24Speaker 10: team than I am a different Nobody respects a fall team.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but So here's the difference I want, but he
- 5:27Speaker 1: respects me anyway, Right, I went to Clark University. It's
- 5:30Speaker 1: a D three school, Like, there's no reason to root
- 5:32Speaker 1: for either of their teams. And so you guys are
- 5:35Speaker 1: saying when I'm at Clark University, I can't root for
- 5:38Speaker 1: the University of Miami football program and the Carolina basketball program.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Bill Taylor has to.
- 5:42Speaker 8: Rule here, well, correct, that is correct?
- 5:45Speaker 11: What do you mean that is correct?
- 5:46Speaker 3: That almost went to North Carolina.
- 5:48Speaker 9: So nobody is blaming you for going to Clark University.
- 5:52Speaker 9: If you want to go to Clark University and get
- 5:54Speaker 9: your degree, fine. If you're a Duke basketball fan, fine.
- 5:58Speaker 9: The problem is in the fall. I can't turn around
- 6:00Speaker 9: and be like, I'm a Texas longhorned football fan.
- 6:03Speaker 8: You're a Duke football fan.
- 6:05Speaker 9: Why though, Well, get ready to learn football, buddy.
- 6:10Speaker 5: I think it's true.
- 6:11Speaker 7: You can't claim another team, like I'm not going to
- 6:14Speaker 7: put North Carolina basketball on my Twitter bio.
- 6:18Speaker 5: But if I'm just watching a game, who am I
- 6:21Speaker 5: pulling for?
- 6:21Speaker 6: You?
- 6:21Speaker 5: I can pull for North Carolina, but they're not quote
- 6:24Speaker 5: my team, right? Is that fair?
- 6:25Speaker 11: Taylor?
- 6:26Speaker 8: Yeah? I don't know fair.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I mean this is why I went viral? Honey, what if.
- 6:32Speaker 12: My fandom was born out of hatred for arrival? What
- 6:36Speaker 12: if I just hate Ohio State football and I just
- 6:39Speaker 12: hate Duke basketball.
- 6:42Speaker 9: You could hate those schools. I just don't think you're
- 6:44Speaker 9: a fan of BO teams.
- 6:46Speaker 1: What Taylor is saying is there's no limit limit to
- 6:49Speaker 1: your hatred, correct, But there is a limit to the
- 6:52Speaker 1: teams that you root for.
- 6:53Speaker 3: That's all you say.
- 6:54Speaker 12: But if I naturally hate Duke, then I naturally root
- 6:57Speaker 12: for North Carolina.
- 6:59Speaker 9: Because you root for Carolina, you're not a Carolina fan.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Though, Well, I mean, unless you're rooting for Carolina football
- 7:07Speaker 1: as well.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I don't.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I'm confused here because I grew up in an area
- 7:10Speaker 1: where college sports wasn't that big.
- 7:12Speaker 3: It just wasn't. I grew up in Long Island.
- 7:14Speaker 1: They didn't have Saint John's was good back in the eighties, right,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and we didn't have a football team.
- 7:19Speaker 7: So you don't claim a college football program and a
- 7:22Speaker 7: college basketball program as your teams.
- 7:24Speaker 3: It just is what it is.
- 7:25Speaker 5: You won't do either.
- 7:26Speaker 3: That doesn't seem fair. I mean, not that we're keeping
- 7:28Speaker 3: you from doing it, but you haven't done it right? Well, No,
- 7:31Speaker 3: I mean no, technically I have.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Not, so you remain respected.
- 7:35Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 9: The conundrum that I'm running into right now is the
- 7:39Speaker 9: people that are saying, what if I root for a
- 7:43Speaker 9: basketball school that doesn't have a football team, and they
- 7:46Speaker 9: kind of they kind of checkmate in me there, because
- 7:48Speaker 9: I don't really have that good of an answer. If
- 7:51Speaker 9: you're say a Gonzaga basketball fan or DePaul basketball fan,
- 7:55Speaker 9: and those schools don't have a football team, yes.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Yes, stick to the pro it's called a loop. Yes,
- 8:01Speaker 3: stick to the pros.
- 8:02Speaker 7: You don't have to have a college football team, just
- 8:04Speaker 7: you know, just whatever team tickles your fancy in any
- 8:07Speaker 7: given time. It actually gives you the chance to be
- 8:08Speaker 7: a fair weather fan. But again, you can't claim them
- 8:11Speaker 7: as your team. You can just enjoy them quietly.
- 8:15Speaker 12: Is this better or worse than those who are a
- 8:18Speaker 12: fan of one city's football team in the pros and
- 8:22Speaker 12: a different cities basketball, Especially so in Connecticut, I run
- 8:26Speaker 12: into this a lot. There are people who are Giants
- 8:28Speaker 12: fans and Celtics fans. You can't be New York and
- 8:31Speaker 12: Boston fans. You can't be those two things. They naturally
- 8:34Speaker 12: hate each other.
- 8:35Speaker 1: But that's split in half, right If you're in southern Connecticut,
- 8:38Speaker 1: chances are you're rooting for the Knicks.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Northern Connecticut, you're rooting for Boston. Right.
- 8:43Speaker 12: That's like saying all Long Islanders are either Mets or
- 8:46Speaker 12: Jets and Giants and Yankees. It doesn't really fit.
- 8:49Speaker 7: I think it depends on how you are raised as
- 8:51Speaker 7: a prof you're properly raised to not be a hater,
- 8:54Speaker 7: then you should be the fan of where you grew up. Like,
- 8:57Speaker 7: if you were properly raised not to be a hate
- 8:59Speaker 7: because that's what a lot of these young kids these days,
- 9:02Speaker 7: even like like my nephew of mine or.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Whatever, he hates Um, he grew up around.
- 9:06Speaker 7: Um, Um was wildly successful while he was growing up,
- 9:09Speaker 7: just hates them just because that's.
- 9:12Speaker 3: An odd team to hate. Man, that's a team he
- 9:14Speaker 3: should have gotten behind.
- 9:15Speaker 9: I mean, you tell it, pro sports, Mikey is a
- 9:18Speaker 9: lot trickier, and it's just waters I'm not prepared to
- 9:22Speaker 9: wade into right now with my takes. So that's why
- 9:25Speaker 9: I kind of planted my flag as the college guy.
- 9:28Speaker 9: Right where I have Yukon fans who are trying to
- 9:31Speaker 9: celebrate their Final four and being like, what do you
- 9:34Speaker 9: mean I can't root for Michigan football in the fall.
- 9:36Speaker 9: I'm like, nope, sorry, man, you're your best football player
- 9:39Speaker 9: at your school, Dan Orlovsky.
- 9:41Speaker 7: Yeah, especially if they went to Yukon. Like, I don't
- 9:46Speaker 7: care if Yukon has a poor football program. If you
- 9:49Speaker 7: went to Yukon, you cannot claim Ohio state. It's just
- 9:51Speaker 7: not possible.
- 9:52Speaker 12: I mean, is he that's that's I mean, if you
- 9:55Speaker 12: went to a school that has d one programs, like
- 9:58Speaker 12: all bets are off, you have to be a fan
- 10:00Speaker 12: of that school. I'm talking like for Stu Gotts, for
- 10:03Speaker 12: me who went to schools that don't really have programs.
- 10:06Speaker 7: Like what's the nearest, the nearest big program to your
- 10:08Speaker 7: respective schools?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Clark University, I don't know, probably holy Cross.
- 10:14Speaker 5: Just because it had holy in the title.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Does not make a baby BC Syracuse.
- 10:18Speaker 5: I mean, all right, you should have been a Syracuse fan.
- 10:20Speaker 6: No.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I was a Saint John's fan growing up. I mean,
- 10:23Speaker 3: that's not bad.
- 10:24Speaker 11: But St.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Johnson.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Does Saint John's have football?
- 10:27Speaker 11: No?
- 10:27Speaker 1: And then I went to Clark University and I played
- 10:30Speaker 1: lacrosse there and they barely had a lacrosse team. I mean,
- 10:34Speaker 1: for me, it was Rutgers, Dan Bayer that You're a
- 10:39Speaker 1: perfect person to ask here. You went to Wisconsin, you
- 10:42Speaker 1: love Ohio State. I am told, how.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Do you feel about Taylor's viral take?
- 10:46Speaker 13: I'll tell you touchy, you know, Mikey hitting where it hurts.
- 10:50Speaker 13: But I feel it's the longevity of it. So I like,
- 10:54Speaker 13: I grew up in the state of Wisconsin, but I've
- 10:57Speaker 13: been an Ohio State.
- 10:58Speaker 11: Fan since the mid nineteen eighties.
- 11:01Speaker 13: Keith Buyer's, Jim Carsados, those guys, And so if you're
- 11:04Speaker 13: there long enough as as a kid or whatever, I
- 11:08Speaker 13: have no problem with as long as you had the
- 11:10Speaker 13: longevity of it. I don't like the jumping ship of
- 11:14Speaker 13: I like this team for this time, then I like
- 11:15Speaker 13: that team. Now I like this team. So if you
- 11:17Speaker 13: have a long year, then.
- 11:18Speaker 7: Properly raised in Wisconsin because they allowed him to be
- 11:21Speaker 7: Ohio State.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And I'm also wondering what Dan would do when Wisconsin
- 11:26Speaker 1: played Ohio State and football.
- 11:28Speaker 13: Did you want to fit in or did you fit out?
- 11:31Speaker 13: I went to two football games the entire time I
- 11:34Speaker 13: was there. One of them was the Ohio State game,
- 11:37Speaker 13: so I would because there would be some conflicts at
- 11:39Speaker 13: times when I was in junior in high school in
- 11:42Speaker 13: nineteen ninety three, all of my friends became Badger fans
- 11:45Speaker 13: because all of a sudden, Wisconsin was good. Barry Elvarez
- 11:47Speaker 13: turned this team around. Ohio State hadn't been to a
- 11:50Speaker 13: Rose Bowl in eight or nine years, and they were
- 11:52Speaker 13: both battling for it, and then Wisconsin ended up going,
- 11:55Speaker 13: which absolutely crushed me, which made me say, well, I'm
- 11:57Speaker 13: never going to cheer for them, even if I go
- 11:59Speaker 13: to school. There was a lot cheaper, by the way,
- 12:01Speaker 13: and it's a good school. So I just kept who
- 12:03Speaker 13: I was. Yes, all right.
- 12:04Speaker 9: The only follow up question I have Dan, Yeah, so
- 12:07Speaker 9: you root for Ohio State basketball and Ohio State football?
- 12:10Speaker 14: Yeah?
- 12:11Speaker 11: I watched both.
- 12:11Speaker 9: Yes, Yeah, then absolutely no problem. I don't think a
- 12:15Speaker 9: piece of paper tells you what school you should root for.
- 12:18Speaker 9: It's what teams you're fandom of. So I have no
- 12:20Speaker 9: problem with Dan bry I have no problem with Dan
- 12:23Speaker 9: Byer going to Wisconsin and being an Ohio State fan.
- 12:26Speaker 9: My problem would have been if he was like, I'm
- 12:29Speaker 9: a Wisconsin basketball fan and an Ohio State football fan.
- 12:32Speaker 8: But we don't have that here.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I mean, Dan's got some stones.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I would have showed up to those games wearing Wisconsin
- 12:37Speaker 1: Gears secretly rooting for Ohios.
- 12:39Speaker 7: You have to stay strong in these situations, like as
- 12:42Speaker 7: a Gator fan, we had our down moments and here
- 12:45Speaker 7: I am living in South Florida when UM is I
- 12:47Speaker 7: guess coming back, and you know, there's a lot of
- 12:49Speaker 7: people around me supporting them. My own family supports you.
- 12:52Speaker 7: M My sister went through their nursing program. And I'm
- 12:55Speaker 7: still sitting here supporting UF, hating.
- 12:57Speaker 5: On UM at all times.
- 12:59Speaker 7: Even though theres on to pick up that alliance allegiance,
- 13:03Speaker 7: I'm not going to do it right, going to do it?
- 13:05Speaker 1: You stuck with Ohio State. I mean that's that's a
- 13:07Speaker 1: good job, sticking with your team.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Yeah, turned down, thank you.
- 13:10Speaker 11: Yeah it did work out. I've worked that well for you.
- 13:13Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 13:13Speaker 13: Yeah, But nobody remembers. Nobody remembers like Liberty bawls against
- 13:16Speaker 13: Air Force. Well, you know, we're watching those games or
- 13:19Speaker 13: the Hall of Fame games that you'd have to play
- 13:20Speaker 13: against Syracuse or other schools when nothing was happening. But yeah,
- 13:24Speaker 13: it's been pretty good for the last thirty years.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Loved a good Liberty Bowl.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Yeah, who doesn't, right right BYU is always in it
- 13:31Speaker 1: right except when you lose the Air Force.
- 13:32Speaker 11: That's the only problem.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Is he much liked the seventy two Dolphins, who pop
- 13:39Speaker 1: open a bottle of champagne every time the last undefeated
- 13:42Speaker 1: team in the NFL finally loses a game. We have
- 13:46Speaker 1: to play some sound here because Taylor, entering last night's play,
- 13:50Speaker 1: how many teams were undefeated in Major League Baseball?
- 13:52Speaker 9: There were five teams undefeated in the MLB, the Dodgers,
- 13:56Speaker 9: the Yankees, the Brewers, the Blue Jays, and the Marlins. Yes,
- 14:02Speaker 9: the hot teams in baseball. But is he they all
- 14:06Speaker 9: went into yesterday undefeated.
- 14:08Speaker 1: They all lost yesterday, all right, So let's let's all
- 14:11Speaker 1: drink some champagne here. Courtesy of one Mike Francis to
- 14:14Speaker 1: the Pope teens.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Nick in New Jersey. What's up, Nick?
- 14:22Speaker 15: I think Mike, I was just wondering with the Yankees
- 14:27Speaker 15: and just baseball in general. Do you ever see a
- 14:30Speaker 15: team going undefeated in the regular season that being as
- 14:34Speaker 15: dominant as the Pats and the Dolphins where they.
- 14:36Speaker 16: Write one hundred and sixty two and zero.
- 14:40Speaker 15: Yeah, like a team being that dominant, Do you think
- 14:43Speaker 15: that could be back? Could happen in baseball?
- 14:46Speaker 4: You're not, seriously, no, like.
- 14:51Speaker 16: Have you seen anybody come close to one hundred and
- 14:54Speaker 16: sixty two?
- 14:54Speaker 15: And oh, well, then the Yankees.
- 14:56Speaker 16: A one year okay, wait, wait right, the Yankees didn't
- 15:01Speaker 16: win one hundred and twenty. They won one hundred and
- 15:03Speaker 16: eleven in the regular season.
- 15:05Speaker 15: But still only fifty games away.
- 15:08Speaker 16: Fifty not a game, fifty games away.
- 15:13Speaker 15: But they had one hundred and ten wins.
- 15:14Speaker 4: They were they were good, but.
- 15:16Speaker 7: They weren't as dominant as the Patriots or other teams whatever.
- 15:20Speaker 16: Wait, wait, so you think a team that you're comparing
- 15:23Speaker 16: winning sixteen games to winning one hundred and sixty.
- 15:26Speaker 15: Two, Well, obviously football has less games. They turn them
- 15:31Speaker 15: one more game they bought.
- 15:32Speaker 16: The football has won less games. Really, yeah, do you
- 15:36Speaker 16: think they have less games?
- 15:38Speaker 14: No?
- 15:39Speaker 16: Well, I know football they have sixteen sixteen, right, and
- 15:42Speaker 16: the others have one hundred and So you think a
- 15:44Speaker 16: team could go one hundred and sixty two and oh.
- 15:48Speaker 17: If they were that dominant?
- 15:49Speaker 8: Yeah you do? They have like harvy right, So you
- 15:52Speaker 8: think that's either time? Right?
- 15:53Speaker 16: Because the best team of now the best team of
- 15:56Speaker 16: all time? I don't know what team you considered the
- 15:58Speaker 16: best team of all time? What team do you consider
- 16:00Speaker 16: the best baseball team of full time.
- 16:03Speaker 15: Maybe that Murder's row Yankee team.
- 16:05Speaker 16: Okay, now what do you think now? That team played
- 16:07Speaker 16: one hundred and fifty four game schedule? How many games
- 16:10Speaker 16: do you.
- 16:10Speaker 8: Think they won?
- 16:12Speaker 16: Oh?
- 16:12Speaker 15: I don't know.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Maybe uh they lost though?
- 16:16Speaker 15: How many do you either think they lost?
- 16:17Speaker 11: Maybe?
- 16:19Speaker 15: Probably forty?
- 16:19Speaker 8: Right?
- 16:20Speaker 3: So how would you get from forty to zero?
- 16:23Speaker 15: Well, they would need to be a lot better obviously.
- 16:26Speaker 16: Let me know when it happens, okay, because I want
- 16:28Speaker 16: to like watch how what do you know? Okay, I'm
- 16:33Speaker 16: telling you folks, John and Breezy point?
- 16:36Speaker 3: What's up? John?
- 16:37Speaker 4: All right, Mike, what's happening?
- 16:39Speaker 15: What mental is silent?
- 16:40Speaker 11: I have no idea?
- 16:41Speaker 8: I have I have no idea.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Well, Taylor, it doesn't really.
- 16:46Speaker 7: I mean the college still has a point because right
- 16:48Speaker 7: now these teams only have one loss. So if they
- 16:50Speaker 7: win the rest of their games, they will have gotten close, Yes,
- 16:52Speaker 7: very close. What's I think we should celebrate when they
- 16:56Speaker 7: get tough about twenty losses?
- 16:58Speaker 1: And I'll be like, Okay, the sneaky part of that
- 17:00Speaker 1: call is the caller just sliding in.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Matt Harvey, I didn't even notice that.
- 17:09Speaker 9: That shows how long ago it was because Matt Harvey
- 17:11Speaker 9: hasn't been dominant in about twelve years.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
- 17:19Speaker 2: live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
- 17:23Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Final Four coming up this weekend. This man is college basketball.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of his work. He is Seth Davis. Seth,
- 17:34Speaker 1: thank you for joining us. We appreciate it. Taylor has
- 17:36Speaker 1: a take, our executive producer, a college sports related take
- 17:40Speaker 1: that has gone viral today and I want to get
- 17:42Speaker 1: your thoughts on it.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Taylor, take it away.
- 17:44Speaker 9: Yeah, I wish we didn't do this for Seth David
- 17:46Speaker 9: because the whole thing is be kind and this is
- 17:50Speaker 9: kind of going against the whole be kind notion. Yeah,
- 17:52Speaker 9: but Seth, my take was, if your favorite college football
- 17:55Speaker 9: team is different from your favorite college basketball team, nobody
- 17:59Speaker 9: respects you.
- 18:02Speaker 6: I think that is that is a very kind thing
- 18:05Speaker 6: to say. I think calling people out for their hypocrisy
- 18:08Speaker 6: is an act of kindness.
- 18:09Speaker 4: I am right with you, right with you.
- 18:13Speaker 3: How anyway, Seth, how do we view Dan Hurley here?
- 18:19Speaker 1: If he goes on to win a national championship, his
- 18:22Speaker 1: third national championship, where does he kind of fall in
- 18:25Speaker 1: the pecking order of all time great coaches because that
- 18:28Speaker 1: ties in with Jim Calhoun, puts the two behind coach
- 18:31Speaker 1: K list of three or more.
- 18:35Speaker 6: Right, there's Calhoun, there's k and there's Wooden. I think
- 18:40Speaker 6: Night only had two, right, Yes, So yeah, there's that's
- 18:47Speaker 6: one way to that's one way to measure greatness. I mean,
- 18:50Speaker 6: you know, this was not a team that I.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Really expected to get to the final four.
- 18:55Speaker 6: You know, they had kind of an up and down year,
- 18:57Speaker 6: but you know a lot of these teams had an
- 18:59Speaker 6: up and down year. They showed an incredible fight in
- 19:02Speaker 6: that game against Duke. They just never gave up. Uh
- 19:05Speaker 6: and his ability to impart his personality onto his team.
- 19:09Speaker 6: It's not like automatic, you know, so super impressive. He brings,
- 19:14Speaker 6: he checks every box. You know, people call him polarizing
- 19:18Speaker 6: or they don't like his sideline antics. I mean, there's
- 19:21Speaker 6: so many phonies in this world. Like we always say
- 19:25Speaker 6: we want people to be honest. We always say we
- 19:28Speaker 6: want people to be authentic, and then when they are,
- 19:30Speaker 6: we shred them for it. Hopefully you're not following this
- 19:33Speaker 6: ridiculousness of him putting his forehead on the referee Roger Ayres.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Chatted about it.
- 19:42Speaker 6: I'm sure you have with great kindness, and I'm sure
- 19:48Speaker 6: it doesn't require kindness, It just requires facts. The facts
- 19:52Speaker 6: are the rule says that you are not allowed to contact,
- 19:56Speaker 6: uh have contact with an official in a way that
- 19:59Speaker 6: is meant to intimidate or that is disrespectful. Those are
- 20:03Speaker 6: rules that are in the books. He did that right
- 20:06Speaker 6: when Braylan Mullins hit the shot at a crazy moment,
- 20:09Speaker 6: trying to intimidate the rep.
- 20:11Speaker 11: What is wrong with people?
- 20:13Speaker 4: It's not like it's just like what is wrong with people?
- 20:16Speaker 5: This is something we've never seen, so it was just
- 20:18Speaker 5: fun to talk about.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I mean, dissess point. There are different types of headbuts.
- 20:21Speaker 1: There's a friendly headbutt and there's a head butt that's
- 20:23Speaker 1: intending to hurt you.
- 20:25Speaker 6: Is he is he like context matters? Is he trying
- 20:28Speaker 6: to intimidate the rep? Is there anybody on the zoom
- 20:32Speaker 6: that that wants to argue that in that moment he's
- 20:35Speaker 6: trying to intimidate the official?
- 20:36Speaker 4: But that's what happened.
- 20:38Speaker 7: No, at worst, it was what was anybody could speak up?
- 20:41Speaker 4: What was Dan Hurley's motivation at that moment?
- 20:45Speaker 3: Not to get a technical that's for sure. I can
- 20:47Speaker 3: tell you that much. His motivation.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Why did he do it? He wanted to do it.
- 20:51Speaker 3: He was celebrating with the guy that was closest to him.
- 20:53Speaker 8: He excited.
- 20:56Speaker 7: Said that actually looked to me like he has a
- 20:58Speaker 7: decent relationship with.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Referee, so he knows he can do that. In that moment,
- 21:03Speaker 5: thank you.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Yeah is thank you.
- 21:05Speaker 6: And then you know, like I said, you know, this
- 21:07Speaker 6: to me looked like two buddies like Roger Air, like
- 21:09Speaker 6: that's what good officials do. You know. There was a
- 21:11Speaker 6: game probably about a month ago, maybe three weeks ago,
- 21:15Speaker 6: I'll say a month ago, and Houston was playing the
- 21:19Speaker 6: game and there was a really bad call that went
- 21:22Speaker 6: against Houston, and there was a ref who was standing
- 21:25Speaker 6: right in front of Kelvin Sampson and Kelvin was losing
- 21:29Speaker 6: his mind and really giving it to the ref and
- 21:32Speaker 6: the ref stood there and let him do it, and
- 21:35Speaker 6: then he moved on like that's what officiating is supposed
- 21:38Speaker 6: to be.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Anyway, I didn't mean to get on. I don't mean
- 21:39Speaker 4: to hijack the show. I'm your guest. Please ask your question.
- 21:42Speaker 1: But I think the friendly headbot may have cost the
- 21:44Speaker 1: referee a spot in the Final four because bullshit.
- 21:47Speaker 4: That's not true. It's not true. He did exactly what
- 21:51Speaker 4: he was supposed to do right in that situation.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yes, but he's there's really yes, but he's not refereeing
- 21:58Speaker 1: in the final four.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I mean he's like, oh, so.
- 22:00Speaker 6: We must be a terrible ref because only terrible refs
- 22:04Speaker 6: don't ref in the final four.
- 22:05Speaker 4: Like there's there's nine refs who are gonna be working
- 22:08Speaker 4: this weekend? Nine?
- 22:10Speaker 6: Okay, By the way, if he's such a terrible ref,
- 22:12Speaker 6: why is he working the elite e right and the
- 22:15Speaker 6: marquee game of the elite why did he ref He
- 22:18Speaker 6: probably did both do Carolina games. I know he's primarily
- 22:21Speaker 6: in agency. Roger ayres Is refereed a lot of final fours.
- 22:25Speaker 6: If you think that's the reason why he's not reffing
- 22:27Speaker 6: the Final four, I.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Can't help you. And I say that with all do kindness, Seth.
- 22:31Speaker 9: What do you make of the Carolina head coaching search
- 22:34Speaker 9: where it seems like they've gotten to the point their
- 22:37Speaker 9: contempt waiting for Dusty May Tommy Lloyd and just gonna
- 22:42Speaker 9: let that kind of play out.
- 22:43Speaker 8: And see if either of those coaches tell them no.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Well, part of.
- 22:47Speaker 6: What's going on is they moved back the opening day
- 22:51Speaker 6: of the transfer portal last year, and previously it started
- 22:57Speaker 6: the Monday of Sweet sixteen week. So if you were
- 23:00Speaker 6: coaching in the Sweet sixteen, you had to be in
- 23:02Speaker 6: the transfer portal, recruiting out of the transfer portal. And
- 23:06Speaker 6: so also if you are looking for a coach, you
- 23:10Speaker 6: know you're taking a risk by not having a coach
- 23:13Speaker 6: during the first two weeks of the transfer portal. So
- 23:15Speaker 6: the fact that it doesn't start open until April seventh,
- 23:18Speaker 6: and by the way, you know what else happens in.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Early April is the NBA season ends.
- 23:23Speaker 6: And so now you can have that conversation with Billy Donovan, who,
- 23:26Speaker 6: from his public comments, has not closed the door. I've
- 23:30Speaker 6: seen some reporting that Brad Stevens has privately closed the door.
- 23:35Speaker 4: I'll still believe that when I see it.
- 23:36Speaker 6: Now, the Celtics are in second place in the East
- 23:38Speaker 6: and the Bulls aren't going to the playoffs, and there's
- 23:40Speaker 6: chat of that maybe Billy Donovan leaves anyway. So look,
- 23:43Speaker 6: it's North Carolina. You want to you got to have
- 23:46Speaker 6: that conversation. The problem becomes the math on these buyouts.
- 23:50Speaker 6: I think Tommy Lloyd's buyout at Arizona is like eleven
- 23:54Speaker 6: million dollars. So you've got to pay Hubert Davis five
- 23:57Speaker 6: million dollars to buy him out. Now you've got to
- 23:59Speaker 6: pay Tommy Lloyd's buy out eleven million dollars.
- 24:03Speaker 4: That's before you've paid him a penny and salary.
- 24:06Speaker 6: And you know, he's got to be pretty much, if
- 24:07Speaker 6: not the highest paid coach in the sport, certainly close
- 24:11Speaker 6: to it. And then, by the way, you've got to
- 24:14Speaker 6: come up with, you know, probably eight figures for your roster,
- 24:17Speaker 6: So that's a lot of money. I think that's much
- 24:22Speaker 6: more of an issue than anything else for them moving forward.
- 24:25Speaker 6: That's that's probably why they probably end up, you know,
- 24:28Speaker 6: aside from Billy Donovan, obviously there's no buyout in that situation, right,
- 24:32Speaker 6: you probably end up with. If I had to give
- 24:33Speaker 6: you a name, I would say Mark Byington from Vanderbilt,
- 24:36Speaker 6: who's a really good coach.
- 24:38Speaker 4: I think you do a really good job.
- 24:39Speaker 6: But if you're a Carolina fan, like, does that like
- 24:42Speaker 6: light your world on fire?
- 24:43Speaker 4: Probably should, but it probably doesn't.
- 24:45Speaker 7: Seth Going into this tournament, a lot of people were
- 24:47Speaker 7: looking at some of the bigger named players the Darren
- 24:50Speaker 7: Peterson's the cam Boozers agent debonsa see how they would perform.
- 24:53Speaker 5: But of the.
- 24:54Speaker 7: Teams that are remaining, is there a player that has
- 24:57Speaker 7: shown the best for him in these first four games?
- 25:00Speaker 7: Because I love every time I watched Lindenberg play for Michigan.
- 25:04Speaker 7: I'm like, that guy looks like he is everything the
- 25:07Speaker 7: NBA wants everything.
- 25:09Speaker 6: That's exactly where I was going to go. Is bro
- 25:11Speaker 6: Is is an interesting story too, because he was a
- 25:15Speaker 6: late bloomer and kind of not a whole lot of
- 25:18Speaker 6: direction when he was younger. How about this, he played
- 25:21Speaker 6: eleven varsity games in high school. Think about that for
- 25:24Speaker 6: a second. Eleven varsity games in high school. He's bounced around,
- 25:27Speaker 6: went to a ton of different schools, then had this
- 25:29Speaker 6: great season at UAB and now he's probably making two
- 25:33Speaker 6: million a year nil money for Michigan. It's the best
- 25:36Speaker 6: player in the final four, probably gonna end up being
- 25:38Speaker 6: if I had to guess your most outstanding player, because
- 25:41Speaker 6: I think Michigan's gonna win the thing.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Wow.
- 25:43Speaker 6: And if they do, that means he's been great and
- 25:45Speaker 6: he'll be a lottery pick in the NBA. So ain't
- 25:48Speaker 6: that America? I mean good on him. Great on Dusty
- 25:51Speaker 6: for the way that he's made you know, I if
- 25:53Speaker 6: I can name drop you see behind me the hoopsaghe Q.
- 25:55Speaker 6: We talked to Andy Katz and I interviewed Dusty May
- 25:58Speaker 6: this morning for Hoops age Q show Nice and I
- 26:01Speaker 6: asked Dusty about, as someone like me, I've studying leadership
- 26:07Speaker 6: and team building and team ethos and all of that,
- 26:11Speaker 6: it's such a fascinating time, like why did this roster work?
- 26:14Speaker 4: And that one didn't? You know?
- 26:16Speaker 6: And there's there's almost not always a great answer, and
- 26:19Speaker 6: I Dusty's now two for two.
- 26:21Speaker 4: It's two years in a row.
- 26:22Speaker 6: He's basically had to turn over his entire roster, most
- 26:24Speaker 6: of it, and it's really really worked. And so I
- 26:28Speaker 6: asked him that question and he talked about like how
- 26:31Speaker 6: everybody shares the ball and getting everybody involved, and he said,
- 26:34Speaker 6: you know, we could call more plays for yoxall and
- 26:38Speaker 6: probably score more from yoxall, but we intentionally design our
- 26:45Speaker 6: offense so everybody's involved and everybody scores and everybody touches
- 26:49Speaker 6: the ball. So it really is like in every second,
- 26:51Speaker 6: everyday decision as.
- 26:54Speaker 4: Far as making that go. But the most.
- 26:55Speaker 6: Important piece is that you're a great player, has to
- 26:59Speaker 6: buy into that, and you can just tell the body
- 27:01Speaker 6: like I don't know if you guys have seen like
- 27:02Speaker 6: the little post game things they do, like Maris Johnson
- 27:05Speaker 6: stands behind them, like like the guard at Buckingham Palace.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Is not allowed to smile, right, he does.
- 27:10Speaker 6: That and towels and they just look like they're having
- 27:13Speaker 6: a good time. Another really games winning, winning by thirty
- 27:16Speaker 6: in the eight that fun, breaking breaking news.
- 27:20Speaker 7: I'm glad you said you think Michigan's gonna win it
- 27:22Speaker 7: because obviously they play Arizona. Stucatts and I were under
- 27:25Speaker 7: the impression that Arizona might be the greatest basketball team
- 27:27Speaker 7: that's ever played.
- 27:28Speaker 5: But that's only because we've only seen them play once,
- 27:30Speaker 5: and that within the Sweet.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Sixty Fairness, it was the morning after the Sweet sixteen game,
- 27:34Speaker 1: and it's the first time.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Both of us watched in the entire season.
- 27:38Speaker 6: You mean you don't live in You're not immersing this
- 27:41Speaker 6: sport twelve months a year like the nerd that you're talking, Well,
- 27:46Speaker 6: you know, so what, But then I assume.
- 27:48Speaker 4: You watch Michigan against Tennessee.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Yes, yes, yes, fair all to your opinion of the
- 27:54Speaker 6: greatest teams in the history of college basketball.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Michigan second place.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Second, I think those two teams played ten times each
- 28:01Speaker 1: win's five.
- 28:02Speaker 3: How about that?
- 28:02Speaker 6: Huh yeah, that's that's fair. Well, here's what I would say,
- 28:06Speaker 6: and I'm somebody I pick Arizona at the start of
- 28:09Speaker 6: the tournament. You know, my second Kelvin Sampson reference. Forgive me,
- 28:14Speaker 6: but he's got this great expression. I caught a lot
- 28:16Speaker 6: when he's talking about players. He'll say, you know that kid,
- 28:19Speaker 6: he can get to that top shelf.
- 28:20Speaker 4: In the pantry, you know.
- 28:22Speaker 6: And I feel like Michigan can get to a shelf
- 28:25Speaker 6: in the pantry that the other three can't get to.
- 28:27Speaker 6: Like when like peak, Michigan is super scary. I was
- 28:33Speaker 6: in San Jose covering the West Regional, so I did
- 28:36Speaker 6: see Arizona in person twice. I saw them in person
- 28:41Speaker 6: at the beginning of the season when they played in
- 28:43Speaker 6: Las Vegas. And there's a lot to like there. I mean,
- 28:47Speaker 6: they're just so physically. The thing about Arizona is they
- 28:49Speaker 6: physically wear teams out. They crush you in the paint
- 28:53Speaker 6: and they crush you on the offensive glass. They're one
- 28:55Speaker 6: of those rare teams who actually shoots a pretty good
- 28:57Speaker 6: percentage from three. They have good three point shooters on
- 29:02Speaker 6: their team. But there's only two teams in the whole
- 29:05Speaker 6: country that this season shot three pointers at a lower
- 29:08Speaker 6: rate than Arizona. So a lot of times you see
- 29:11Speaker 6: the opposite, like you see a team that shoots a
- 29:14Speaker 6: high volume of threes, but maybe not a great percentage.
- 29:16Speaker 6: So like Alabama, they're gonna shoot their thirty five threes.
- 29:21Speaker 6: If they go in, they're gonna beat you. They don't
- 29:22Speaker 6: go into. Arizona wants to really beat in the paint.
- 29:25Speaker 6: I don't think that's gonna work. With Michigan, they're so
- 29:27Speaker 6: big up front. They got you know, Adaimarra is seven
- 29:30Speaker 6: foot three, whereas Johnson is six.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Foot ten and super strong.
- 29:35Speaker 6: And then you got Yoxel at the three, who's the six'
- 29:38Speaker 6: nine and loves to play, defense loves the challenge up
- 29:42Speaker 6: so you figure he matches up With, coopete it's gonna
- 29:46Speaker 6: bet it's gonna be. Great how about this final, four,
- 29:48Speaker 6: MAN i, know, yeah AND i know everyone's heartbroken about, that.
- 29:52Speaker 3: RIGHT i love. It, well we Got yukon who?
- 29:54Speaker 5: CARES i, Mean illinois my? Favorite, yeah, Yeah.
- 29:58Speaker 6: Settle For, Yukon, yeah and you, know And. Illinois so
- 30:03Speaker 6: it's a, great, great, great great. Final college basketball is
- 30:06Speaker 6: very blessed with these.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Fourteen it's been a great. Tournament it's going to be
- 30:09Speaker 1: a great final. Four But illinois is the TEAM i
- 30:10Speaker 1: feel badly. For we're not going to talk about. Them
- 30:12Speaker 1: we're not going to talk about their. Coach we're going
- 30:14Speaker 1: to talk about the other three. Schools Jay billis told
- 30:16Speaker 1: us last week there's a big difference of being able
- 30:18Speaker 1: to make it to The final four and winning a national.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Championship SO i asked you, this Can illinois win the national?
- 30:24Speaker 6: Championship, well they certainly, can't DON'T i, mean don't fool, yourself.
- 30:29Speaker 4: But They'll they're the least likely two of the. Four
- 30:34Speaker 4: they're playing well, though.
- 30:35Speaker 6: You, KNOW i, mean part of what happens, is you know,
- 30:38Speaker 6: what obviously you have to be good to get to
- 30:41Speaker 6: a final four or even A sweet sixteen or second
- 30:44Speaker 6: round in the. Tournament like those teams aren't just good.
- 30:47Speaker 6: Teams they're playing, well and oftentimes what, happens like With,
- 30:51Speaker 6: illinois like a lot of, teams they went through some
- 30:54Speaker 6: ups and downs because of. Injuries you, know they had
- 30:56Speaker 6: a lot of stuff going on in the, preseason Like Andrea,
- 30:59Speaker 6: stojakovic basically they didn't have a. Summer first time he
- 31:02Speaker 6: practiced with the team was like right before their first.
- 31:04Speaker 6: Game it takes him a while to get into. It
- 31:06Speaker 6: and then they had some guys shuffle in and, out
- 31:07Speaker 6: and Then kyle And boswell injures his hand and he's
- 31:11Speaker 6: out for three. Weeks So Keith woggler becomes a huge usage.
- 31:14Speaker 6: Guy he goes he scored over forty one game and
- 31:17Speaker 6: he was going. Nuts Now boswell comes back and you
- 31:19Speaker 6: got to kind of go through that. Again so that's
- 31:22Speaker 6: why they kind of lose games and people, like, well
- 31:24Speaker 6: they're not as good based on their, season but there's
- 31:26Speaker 6: reasons inside the.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Season they're.
- 31:28Speaker 6: Healthy now i mean they BEAT i mean they to
- 31:31Speaker 6: Defend houston And MaTx houston's defensive toughness the way they.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Did and then the same thing With. Iowa Now, iowa you,
- 31:39Speaker 4: know they were playing well.
- 31:40Speaker 6: Physically physically matched up With, florida which has the best
- 31:44Speaker 6: front court in the, country which was really not what
- 31:46Speaker 6: they had done over the.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Season so they were riding.
- 31:49Speaker 6: High so For illinois to go Through houston And iowa
- 31:52Speaker 6: to get to the final. FOUR i mean they can
- 31:55Speaker 6: win this, thing but WOULD i would? PROBABLY i might
- 31:59Speaker 6: put and third ahead Of. YUKON i don't know that that's.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Close that's. Close Remember yukon was down nineteen And yukon
- 32:06Speaker 4: has has. LOST i Mean.
- 32:07Speaker 6: Yukon yukon two weeks ago lost by twenty To Saint JOHN'S.
- 32:10Speaker 3: I, know, Right so second time they lost To Saint john's, too? Right, yeah, YEAH.
- 32:16Speaker 6: I don't know how many how many PICKS i have
- 32:17Speaker 6: to get wrong before people.
- 32:18Speaker 4: Stop asking you WHAT.
- 32:21Speaker 6: I?
- 32:21Speaker 3: GOT i got?
- 32:21Speaker 4: THREE i got three to.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Go, yeah but that's what march is all. About you know?
- 32:24Speaker 3: That go, Ahead. Taylor final, question.
- 32:26Speaker 9: What do you make of The Will wade situation AT
- 32:29Speaker 9: Nc state AND, lsu because it feels like a lot
- 32:32Speaker 9: OF Nc state fans are surprised That Will wade will waded.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Them that's a phenomenal way to Put you could use.
- 32:41Speaker 3: It you feel, free it's? Yours, Yes SO i have.
- 32:45Speaker 6: Not fully done the reporting on, THIS i will be
- 32:49Speaker 6: frank AND i. HAVEN'T i have not talked To will about.
- 32:51Speaker 6: It based on the comments From Bu, corrigan WHO'S i
- 32:56Speaker 6: know a long time dad was the longtime commission of
- 32:59Speaker 6: the A.
- 32:59Speaker 4: SEC.
- 33:02Speaker 6: I have a very wide latitude for people who need
- 33:06Speaker 6: to do what's in their best, interest, Right like you,
- 33:10Speaker 6: Know ben McCollum was the head coach At drake for
- 33:13Speaker 6: one year and got an opportunity to go To iowa
- 33:16Speaker 6: and did. That Brad underwood's coach in the final. Four
- 33:19Speaker 6: he was the head coach Of Oklahoma state for one,
- 33:22Speaker 6: year left to go To. Illinois SO i don't necessarily
- 33:26Speaker 6: have a problem with. That that's its business and they
- 33:29Speaker 6: got to do its. Best from everything That i've, Heard
- 33:32Speaker 6: Will wade was so deceptive about the, situation according To Bluch,
- 33:37Speaker 6: corrigan against public.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Comments he went right To will and.
- 33:41Speaker 6: Said Is first of, All Will wade was asked about
- 33:43Speaker 6: this at a press. CONFERENCE i don't know if it
- 33:45Speaker 6: was after THE acc or after THE ncaa tournament when it.
- 33:48Speaker 6: ENDED a reporter, said there's some chatter ABOUT lsu And
- 33:51Speaker 6: Will wade.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Stabbed he, said, well they have a coach, there, right
- 33:54Speaker 4: is it? Open? Okay so he was very condescending to the.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Reporter and it.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Was a good question because the athletic director who hired
- 34:01Speaker 6: him at McNeese is now AT, lsu is like a
- 34:04Speaker 6: senior ASSOCIATE ad and there's someone in the, administration same
- 34:08Speaker 6: thing coming from.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Mcneiss it is a good and.
- 34:10Speaker 6: The fact that they're about to get rid of McMahon
- 34:13Speaker 6: was pretty well, known and so according to Bouchor, agan
- 34:15Speaker 6: he goes to Will wade and is there something to?
- 34:17Speaker 6: This and Will wade swears to him there's, not and
- 34:19Speaker 6: they try to have these conversations And Boue corrigan found
- 34:24Speaker 6: out about it from an email from Will wade's. Agent
- 34:28Speaker 6: if you're not man enough to pick up the telephone
- 34:32Speaker 6: and call Bou corgan and, say here's what's going. On
- 34:35Speaker 6: here's What i'm. DOING i, Know i'm, sorry you're, disappointed
- 34:38Speaker 6: but here's What i'm. Doing here's why to have that.
- 34:40Speaker 6: Courtesy it's just. Bad but that's you know, AGAIN i,
- 34:46Speaker 6: mean this is kind of who's been and he embraces
- 34:48Speaker 6: the whole villain black hat thing like, OH i invented,
- 34:51Speaker 6: Anil like so, yeah it's, wrong it's wrong to do.
- 34:57Speaker 6: It it's like When Lane kiffin to leave it team
- 35:01Speaker 6: and old myth that has a. CHANCE i think you're
- 35:03Speaker 6: in the, playoff like there's certain things you just don't.
- 35:05Speaker 6: Do but those guys got to live with.
- 35:07Speaker 4: It what CAN i tell, You Seth.

- 35:37Speaker 1: told me to push the phone numbers today eight seven
- 35:39Speaker 1: seven ninety nine On. Fox that is eight seven seven
- 35:42Speaker 1: ninety nine On. Fox let's go out To rich who
- 35:46Speaker 1: was In florida. Today, rich go, ahead you're On Fox Sports.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Radio good enough to.
- 35:49Speaker 18: DO i just, say, HEY i love the. SHOW i
- 35:52Speaker 18: wanted to touch on a couple of things On taylor's.
- 35:54Speaker 18: Topic i'm From, Bloomington. INDIANA i grew up ON iu,
- 35:57Speaker 18: basketball so you. COULDN'T i, MEAN i had the football
- 36:00Speaker 18: team to root, for but there wasn't much going. On full,
- 36:03Speaker 18: Circle NOW i got something to root. For i'm happy about.
- 36:05Speaker 18: It but that also ties into you guys are talking
- 36:08Speaker 18: To Seth davis about championship. Coaches bobby did have, three
- 36:13Speaker 18: one of them being the last UNDEFEATED ncaa team thirty
- 36:17Speaker 18: two and.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Zero, right So night did have. THREE i think how
- 36:21Speaker 1: many Does bill self? Have do you Know, taylor BECAUSE
- 36:24Speaker 1: i think he's also a two or. Three i'm just
- 36:27Speaker 1: Like Danny hurley the fact that he's going to Catch
- 36:29Speaker 1: Jim calhoun if he wins a national championship year in
- 36:32Speaker 1: terms Of yukon, History Danny hurley is putting himself in
- 36:35Speaker 1: a steamed company right.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Now he really has.
- 36:37Speaker 14: Too.
- 36:38Speaker 9: Yeah but much to my point with What rich said
- 36:41Speaker 9: About indiana, football how easy would it be for An
- 36:44Speaker 9: indiana basketball fan to not support the football team for
- 36:48Speaker 9: all those?
- 36:48Speaker 8: Years?
- 36:49Speaker 9: Right they could have very easily been A Notre dame
- 36:51Speaker 9: football fan for for how close those two schools. Are
- 36:55Speaker 9: but there's something about sticking with your team and sticking
- 36:59Speaker 9: with your through some terrible years so that when you
- 37:03Speaker 9: do get, It, signetti when you do get, It Fernando,
- 37:06Speaker 9: mendoza you're with them at the. Mountaintop, YEAH i.
- 37:08Speaker 11: Will tell you.
- 37:09Speaker 1: This if you went To indiana prior to two years,
- 37:12Speaker 1: ago even a year, ago and you only rooted for
- 37:15Speaker 1: the basketball team and rooted for a different football.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Team i'm good with.
- 37:18Speaker 11: It like that's how bad they were.
- 37:22Speaker 9: TERRIBLE i, Mean i'm, Green Tevin, coleman you missed out
- 37:26Speaker 9: on some ballers.
- 37:27Speaker 7: You missed out, on just like Like taylor was, saying
- 37:30Speaker 7: sort of the rags to riches. Story when you feel
- 37:33Speaker 7: like you were a part of that the whole, time
- 37:35Speaker 7: it feels even greater when they come out on. TOP
- 37:37Speaker 7: i am a kid who grew up a fan of
- 37:40Speaker 7: an EXPANSION nba. Team talk about going from nothing to.
- 37:43Speaker 7: Something That Miami heat team went from nothing to three time.
- 37:46Speaker 7: Champion it feels good when you were there from day.
- 37:48Speaker 1: ONE i, mean why would you be a fan of
- 37:50Speaker 1: the worst college football program in.
- 37:51Speaker 11: The history of the. Sports that's your. School you went,
- 37:54Speaker 11: there that wear your.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Colors there's pride. There they're trying to get out of the.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Mud so you want that and the fans to display
- 38:01Speaker 1: the type of pride the football team itself was not.
- 38:03Speaker 5: Displaying who shows up to these, games somebody has to.
- 38:07Speaker 5: Right they have to Be indiana football.
- 38:09Speaker 7: Fans before they Became indiana a really, good you, know
- 38:11Speaker 7: the dominant team in.
- 38:13Speaker 11: All of college.
- 38:13Speaker 7: Football but, yes somebody shows up to these games that
- 38:16Speaker 7: should be these.
- 38:17Speaker 9: People isy you mentioned wanting rags to. Riches Stu gott
- 38:20Speaker 9: just wants the.
- 38:20Speaker 8: Richest, YEAH i.
- 38:21Speaker 5: Do, yeah you're. Right, NO i want you to be.
- 38:23Speaker 3: FAIR i, mean you went To North. Carolina that's not.
- 38:27Speaker 8: Fair that's not.
- 38:28Speaker 11: Fair.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Tailor he is A met and A jet.
- 38:31Speaker 8: Fan he does not just want, riches that's.
- 38:33Speaker 3: RIGHT i would have.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Changed my allegiances to The yankees And giants years, again decades.
- 38:37Speaker 8: Ago how dare YOU i went To.
- 38:40Speaker 9: Carolina, YES i was rewarded with a great basketball. Team
- 38:44Speaker 9: you know, What i'm also rewarded With Bill belichick as
- 38:48Speaker 9: my football coach who can't even get to five. Hundred,
- 38:51Speaker 9: yes it would be easier for me to just, say
- 38:53Speaker 9: you know, What i'm A Mario Cristobal miami. FAN i
- 38:56Speaker 9: live In. Miami i'm gonna get Behind Carson beck And Malachi.
- 38:59Speaker 9: Tony that would be the easy thing to. Do but,
- 39:02Speaker 9: No i'm sticking with my. GUYS i don't know who
- 39:04Speaker 9: our quarterback is in the transfer. PORTAL i know he
- 39:07Speaker 9: is terrible From Marylyn Billy. Edwards, actually you, know.
- 39:09Speaker 5: It's not an easy thing to. Do having a. Viral.
- 39:12Speaker 7: Take the reason it's viral is not because it was
- 39:15Speaker 7: clearly one sided and he had this great idea. Opinion
- 39:19Speaker 7: it's because it's, divisive.
- 39:20Speaker 1: AND i Think taylor had a great, one, yes and
- 39:23Speaker 1: he used it on his, account not.
- 39:24Speaker 3: MINE i mean it's, odd, right correct me If i'm.
- 39:28Speaker 12: Wrong this guy sitting here judging everybody all high and
- 39:31Speaker 12: mighty about their. Allegiances isn't this the guy that changes
- 39:34Speaker 12: his FAVORITE nfl team season to. Season didn't he say
- 39:37Speaker 12: he was A jet, fan but he Wore patriots stuff every?
- 39:41Speaker 3: Day?
- 39:41Speaker 8: Yeah but in Again Super? Bowl, NO i am very
- 39:45Speaker 8: out About.
- 39:46Speaker 3: MIKEY i got. HIM i got.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Him he also claims to root For northwestern women's lacrosse
- 39:51Speaker 1: When North carolina is the defending national.
- 39:53Speaker 3: CHAMPIONS i mean it.
- 39:55Speaker 7: Over you know, what bros, First bros and siss, first.
- 40:02Speaker 5: We have a game we're playing?
- 40:03Speaker 8: Here or Just dan?
- 40:03Speaker 5: WAIT i Think Dan byer had something to.
- 40:05Speaker 11: Add you know this caller that called in, like think about.
- 40:08Speaker 13: This think if you were An indiana football fan of
- 40:11Speaker 13: the past thirty years and you got to go to,
- 40:14Speaker 13: games traffic was never an. Issue tickets were, cheap it
- 40:19Speaker 13: was part of your life for so long because it
- 40:21Speaker 13: never was that. Big now everyone's jumping on the, bandwagon
- 40:25Speaker 13: stealing your love of your team that you dealt with
- 40:28Speaker 13: with the last thirty. Years parking is now doubled or
- 40:31Speaker 13: tripled on. Campus it takes forever to get to your
- 40:34Speaker 13: seats and all that. Stuff, LIKE i am sure there
- 40:36Speaker 13: is a portion of The indiana mean maybe very, small
- 40:39Speaker 13: that almost resents the team being national champions because of
- 40:42Speaker 13: all of the people who have now jumped on the
- 40:43Speaker 13: bandwagon or now following the.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Team why weren't you good WHEN i was? There, yeah
- 40:48Speaker 1: same thing happening To Saint. John's but we need.
- 40:50Speaker 7: People to establish their fandom on these, Teams like if
- 40:54Speaker 7: you were An indiana fan ten years, ago you need
- 40:57Speaker 7: to have some kind of bona fides that show that
- 41:00Speaker 7: you were and therefore they'll like keep a good parking
- 41:03Speaker 7: spot for, you or keep the ticket prices down for.
- 41:06Speaker 7: You in, particular your grandfathered in to these things For indiana.
- 41:09Speaker 3: FOOTBALL i Mean Rick.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Petino no one was a fan Of Saint john's Until
- 41:13Speaker 1: Rick patino took. Over they beat you con, twice they
- 41:16Speaker 1: took him to The elite. Eight it's been decades since
- 41:18Speaker 1: they've been. GOOD a bunch Of Saint johnny's come. LATELY i,
- 41:20Speaker 1: mean how about that.
- 41:23Speaker 11: Nice?
- 41:23Speaker 3: Word, uh thank? You what is the game hand?
- 41:28Speaker 1: Up before we get to, It, mikey thank you for
- 41:31Speaker 1: rushing to my. Defense, Iowa, SAM i want That Aaron glenn.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Sound this is the.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Team that we chose to root for as.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Kids had never wavered and never changed even While Phil
- 41:42Speaker 1: simms and The giants were Winning Super bowls and we
- 41:45Speaker 1: had to sit there and watch go ahead play.
- 41:46Speaker 7: It, YEAH i just feel like like he's the guy
- 41:48Speaker 7: who's gonna lead us to the, promise and that he's
- 41:50Speaker 7: the guy who doesn't touch the ball more.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Than anybody else on.
- 41:52Speaker 7: Offense and, LISTEN i know he had his, struggles AND
- 41:55Speaker 7: i think a lot of, quarterbacks you, know they have their.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Struggles if you look at five, years the guy has
- 42:01Speaker 1: been on the most.
- 42:02Speaker 3: INTERCEPTION i, mean the top guys are up. THERE i
- 42:05Speaker 3: should imagine he was talking About Geno.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Smith nobody can hear anything you're. Saying, mikey you're muted.
- 42:15Speaker 3: The life of A jets. FAN i unmuted the wrong.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Thing i'm not doing.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Anything, yeah that's.
- 42:22Speaker 12: Anything he's absolutely. Right Gino smith is going to lead
- 42:27Speaker 12: The jets to the Promised. Land the promised land is
- 42:29Speaker 12: A manning on.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Right if his definition of the Promised land is Arch,
- 42:34Speaker 1: manning then, yes that's exactly hopefully where he's going to lead.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Us but you know it's not going to go that
- 42:38Speaker 3: well for.
- 42:38Speaker 7: Us Aaron glenn is getting very close to looking like
- 42:41Speaker 7: a professional.
- 42:42Speaker 3: Magician he should talk. Less every time he.
- 42:46Speaker 9: Talks it's, like, yeah every time he, talks it's, like,
- 42:48Speaker 9: MAN i could deal with like seventy five percent less
- 42:52Speaker 9: talking from.
- 42:52Speaker 1: All, right let's get to hand up, here eight seven
- 42:58Speaker 1: seven ninety out on five only Because taylor told me
- 43:01Speaker 1: to push the phone.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Number, today So i'll push it.
- 43:04Speaker 1: It it's been pushed eight seven seven ninety nine off.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Fox i'll tell you going first.
- 43:09Speaker 9: Here, YEAH i could start it all, right hand. UP
- 43:14Speaker 9: i was dead wrong about not needing THE abs system in, Baseball,
- 43:18Speaker 9: yeah BECAUSE i thought it would kind of slow the game.
- 43:21Speaker 9: Down but Yesterday i'm Watching Yankees. Mariners The yankees go
- 43:25Speaker 9: five for five ON abs challenge systems likes, it And
- 43:28Speaker 9: Aaron boone is just screaming at the.
- 43:30Speaker 8: Ump figure it, out figure it, out figure it.
- 43:33Speaker 9: Out And i'm watching this And i'm, like, man this
- 43:36Speaker 9: is exactly what baseball.
- 43:38Speaker 3: NEEDED i, mean is he.
- 43:40Speaker 7: Just addicted to arguing with umpires because you don't have
- 43:43Speaker 7: to say. Anything the challenge and the subsequent overturn is
- 43:47Speaker 7: embarrassing enough for the report for the.
- 43:49Speaker 5: Umpire but yet you've Got Aaron boone over.
- 43:51Speaker 8: There figure it.
- 43:52Speaker 5: Out THE abs system will figure it. Out, Man it's,
- 43:55Speaker 5: okay you don't have to argue with the. UMPIRE i
- 43:57Speaker 5: don't like.
- 43:57Speaker 9: That, yeah but THE ulpus wrongs so many times in
- 44:01Speaker 9: the right. SPOT i do Get Aaron boone's, point being, like,
- 44:04Speaker 9: hey stop being, wrong stop making under use the challenge
- 44:08Speaker 9: a just your.
- 44:09Speaker 7: ZONE i would just, say, hey When i'm from in the,
- 44:11Speaker 7: dugout If I'm Aaron, Boone i'm just. Yelling that's all
- 44:14Speaker 7: for five and then just let the facts just.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Sit, YES i am told by the way That taylor
- 44:19Speaker 3: has a.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Friendship he classified it as a friendship With Aaron boone
- 44:23Speaker 1: so friendly that he won't get him on this show
- 44:25Speaker 1: because he doesn't want to introduce his friends to his
- 44:28Speaker 1: other friends being me.
- 44:29Speaker 3: AND i understand. THAT i get. IT i. DO i
- 44:32Speaker 3: have tons of. FRIENDS i never wanted to introduce the.
- 44:34Speaker 5: Levantar there's no chance you're friends With Aaron.

- 44:49Speaker 1: said this is no Longer aaron's, number and SO i
- 44:52Speaker 1: would lie AND i thought then AND i still think

- 44:55Speaker 18: Me i'll.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Verify, Okay So i'm coming, there come grab my, phone
