3:17
good morning, welcome to the show, and happy Friday. Good morning,
3:22
how are you? I'm doing fine? Great to have your your cohort.
3:24
Angie Gillan Water was running around a building a little bit earlier. She
3:30
was on with Steve Stephen, Jenny and V one hundred. I think she
3:32
was on with Rob Reel and KWS and also on with Steve Animal on the
3:38
Mountain. So glad she's got a lot of her shots up to date.
3:40
If she's gonna hang out with Steve Animal, that's awesome. She is running
3:45
around like crazy every day this week, so she's definitely a leader for sure.
3:51
Well we got her out of here because you know, I know I
3:53
already had you schedule to be on anyway, and I knew that she,
3:55
you know, had a lot of stuff to do, as do you.
3:57
But I appreciate you being here. We're gonna get to our pet of the
4:00
Week coming up momentary, but I first want to talk about Texas and Tails
4:03
tomorrow night at six Capital Market. The big question is are there still tickets
4:08
available? Yes, so you can still. I believe we posted something maybe
4:13
like almost an hour ago that had the link to goes too straight to the
4:18
ticket. So if you are looking for a last minute ticket, definitely go
4:23
ahead and take today to go and get them. If you go to our
4:28
I think it's on our Facebook as well, as I believe you can go
4:30
to our website and get them from there as well. But if you go
4:32
to our Facebook, it's a direct link that will take you right to it.
4:36
So definitely go get them. We want to see everybody there. There's
4:40
going to be food, drinks, entertainment, animals, and there's even going
4:44
to be a puppy race, So definitely come on out all right, talk
4:46
about this puppy race. Yes, I believe it's just going to be uh.
4:51
We had a docs race last year, but this year instead of docs
4:57
and race. We're going to do just puppy race, So just puppies that
5:00
want to be included in the race will be able to race in the race.
5:04
Are you allowed to gamble on them? That? I don't think I'm
5:10
kidding. I'm kidding, Anna, how long have you known me? You
5:13
don't take anything I say seriously. You know that gambling. Gambling is is
5:17
frowned upon at the event tomorrow night. Of course it is Kentucky Derby Knight
5:20
too, right, so you got some things going on with that as well,
5:23
right, Yes, yeah, we do have. The whole event is
5:26
seemed Derby, So definitely bring your big old hats and your floral attire,
5:31
your pastel attire and come on out. And this thing has really, Hannah
5:38
turned into one of the five six biggest events in Charleston. Every year.
5:42
You have these big events, these signature events that everybody looks forward to,
5:46
and Texas and Tails is becoming one of those events. Yes, and we're
5:50
very really glad that it is. We've been doing it for a handful of
5:54
years now, but I've been included that for the past three years, so
5:57
it's definitely fun. I've had my experience with it. It's very very worth
6:01
it. I definitely would say get your ticket. It's the ticket price is
6:05
definitely worth what you're getting. Yeah, it's very very and I just think
6:10
that everybody should come out. The music is always going, so it's definitely
6:14
a good time. It is definitely a good time. But it's tomorrow night
6:15
at six Is that the start time? Yeah, six o'clock at Capitol Market.
6:19
To get information available on the Shelter social media and on their website as
6:25
well, So it's going to be a great night tomorrow night at Capitol Market.
6:28
All right, let's talk about Pip. Pip. Pip is our adopt
6:32
me please pet of the Week from the because All Charlest Newmain Association has always
6:35
picture posted on my social media, Dave Alan Radio and also the Dave Allan
6:40
Chill ONEX. Hannah tell us about Pip. All right, Well, Pip
6:46
is a male and he is around three years old. Again, we always
6:50
go by their guns and their teeth and lusty, we know for sure how
6:54
old they are and that gives us a good round about how like their age.
6:59
He is my riches. He is vaccinated, so he's definitely ready to
7:03
go on hikes, ready to go for runs, ready to go play in
7:06
a dog tark. He's considered a play group rock star at the shelter,
7:12
which typically just means that he gets along with pretty much every dog that we've
7:15
encountered him with and he loves them all. He likes to play. He's
7:21
bashful with people at first a little bit, or at least he was a
7:26
very very short period of time, though, he will warm up very quickly.
7:30
He just kind of that initial moment is like wait a minute, who
7:32
are you? And then he's like, okay, wait, you can pet
7:34
me. So he's definitely a sweetie. I would feel like he would be
7:40
fine in a family setting to be like a family dog. Of course,
7:45
with any children around. I always advised caution, always teaches kids as well
7:49
as the dogs some training and some boundaries stuff that expectation with both parties.
7:57
But he did come in as a stray and I actually found him. He
8:01
was running around in my hometown and he had another guy with him and they
8:07
just kind of followed each other around. But they do not have to be
8:09
like adopted together like that. So Pip is definitely looking through a home and
8:16
he's very very sweet. He's very pretty now what he is. I'm not
8:20
entirely sure. He's like black and tan, so he kind of has like
8:24
turky ears, and he's maybe like honestly, I couldn't even tell you.
8:30
He looks like a mixture of a bunch of things. He's kind of like
8:33
the classic West Virginia brown dog as they called him. Is that right?
8:35
Yes? Yeah, that was a twist. Yeah, I mean he's a
8:39
beautiful dog. And again his pictures posted on my social media pages. Now,
8:43
you told me via text last night, Hannah that you were the one
8:46
that actually brought him in because you found him in clintdenn And uh. And
8:50
he was hanging out at the Family Dollar is that right? Yes? So
8:54
he was kind of hanging around there for like two or three months, and
8:58
well you can get everything a family Dollar, why not, you know,
9:01
right? Right? But he was getting said by the Family Dollar people because
9:05
he just kept coming back, and eventually they were like, all right,
9:07
well let's just get him some food. And they really really did take care
9:11
of him, they loved him. But one day I was just like,
9:15
you know what, we have, we have the space right now, let
9:18
me go ahead and grab him. And I grabbed him and he was definitely
9:20
very sweet. I'll grab the other one along with him and brought up with
9:24
the shelter. They're they're both very very sweet. The other one is just
9:26
a little bit more shy. Okay, Well, Pip's a beautiful dog and
9:30
again the classic Western India brown dog. If you're looking for a great pat
9:33
is as you said, he would be a fantastic But now he's a microchip
9:37
and vaccinated, but not fixed yet, but will be. Is that right
9:41
correct? Yeah, not fixed yet, but he will. All right,
9:43
beautiful beautiful dog. Get to get up there and h and get Pip all
9:46
right quickly because I know we've talked about several things and you've got a lot
9:50
of work to do to get ready for tuxes and tails tomorrow night. Talk
9:54
about anything else going on with this shelter. I noticed you it is cat
9:56
season up there. Yes, just it is season. But we also have
10:03
Thisisle Pet Foundation adoption special going on until the fifteenth. All adult dogs,
10:09
cats and kittens are included in this special. Now they're not fully sponsored.
10:13
We do have a handful of dogs that are fully sponsored just by like different
10:18
agencies or individuals, but this adoption special is I believe they're fifty for their
10:26
adoption. See, so definitely come on out. That is a definitely good
10:30
discounted price for all the animals there. Come and get them for the weekend.
10:35
And you can even foster if you are not sure if you want to
10:37
adopts first. We have plenty of dogs that could use a foster just to
10:41
see how they do a new home, how they do with your pets and
10:43
stuff like that. So come on out, all right handed, Texas and
10:48
Tails tomorrow night at six o'clock. If you not get yeah, not get
10:50
gotten your tickets, you need to make sure that you do so. And
10:54
again, this event or any of the other events that you folks do,
10:56
would not be possible without the community out all the sponsors that make it all
11:01
happen. I won't ask you to go over them all, they know who
11:03
they are, but I'll just give you the generic time to just thank them
11:07
all. Yes, yes, we are definitely very thankful and appreciative of all
11:11
the sponsors that help us get through all of this, that help fund and
11:16
really just are a big part of these events that we have. All right,
11:20
good luck with everything tomorrow night, Hannah, Tuxas and Tales and We've
11:24
got information available on your website, on your social media and online as well.
11:26
Thanks a lot to see you tomorrow night. Thanks a lot. Thank
11:30
you and a gardener from the Gannala charlest Remaine Association with Pip this week's Adopt
11:35
Me Please Pet of the Week. Pip was found in Clint Dennon, hanging
11:39
out the family Dollar store there. Hannah herself brought Pip to the shelter.
11:43
Three years old, approximately male, micro chipped and vaccinated. Not fixed yet
11:48
but will be a little bashful at first. Could use some leash training,
11:52
but seems to be fine with kids once Pip gets over that initial shyness.
11:58
A very very great would be a great family pet, So go get Pipping
12:03
again. I've got pips picture posted on my social media Dayvland Radio and also

17:18
you're an animal. Kind of animals. You got now because I know
17:19
you are animals running around. Oh gosh, we have two Newfoundlands, a

All right. So, uh, you are Republican Delian District nineteen running

17:53
people they not know about you personally. I mean they know all the issue,
17:57
not all the issues you have, I don't mean, but they know
18:00
all the issues that you advocate for. But let's talk about let's talk about
18:06
Cathy hescrasts. Who are you? Well, like I said, like you
18:11
said, I've been a delegate now, I'm in my third year. I
18:14
was appointed and then elected. Contrary to popular belief of some, I have
18:18
a degree from West Virginia State University, actually two, I have an associate
18:22
and a bachelor's. They're in biology, with concentrations in micro and molecular biology.
18:29
My husband, Mark and I own a farm in Buffalo, and contrary
18:33
to popular belief, from there too, I have been there for twenty three
18:36
years and I am not moving, as it's been said, don't have my
18:41
farm for sale or anything. Not moving. I'm staying. I like having
18:45
my acreach and where we're at. We have five kids, just graduated,
18:49
my last one. My baby is eighteen, my oldest is thirty five.
18:56
And I've lived in West Virginia the most part. All my life's been about
19:00
a year in Florida right after high school. But other than that, I
19:04
was born and raised here in Charleston. Moved to Putnam County, like I
19:08
said, twenty three years ago, and I'll never leave. I did think
19:14
it was very interesting. And Kathy and I, you know, have known
19:17
each other for a long time and we don't necessarily agree on everything. But
19:21
I will say this, during the whole COVID thing, and there was all
19:26
these debates back and forth and you and they're still and they're still going on
19:29
to this day. But I always thought it was interesting when people would would
19:32
say, well, you know, getting your information online, which a lot
19:34
of people did, as you know, and a lot of it was erroneous
19:37
on both sides, and so on and so forth. People would say,
19:40
well, where's your degree in microbiology? You actually have a degree in microbody
19:45
I do, and there was a reason Kathy hes Krauss did not wear a
19:48
mask. That's you know, uh, and you were you were not a
19:52
COVID denier, but but but you had a different view on it. I
19:57
did. I did. I knew the mask were not doing what everybody said
20:03
they were going to do. And the one thing I did know that the
20:07
mask we're going to do was to make people sicker in the long run,
20:11
and they had and they have. People were more susceptible to other illnesses because
20:18
they hadn't had exposure to other viruses and the normal bacteria and viruses that you're
20:26
exposed to every day, and immune systems went down. So the mask caused
20:32
much more harm than good. And this just coming from a microbiologist. As
20:34
you are, all right, what's the most rewarding part of serving your district
20:38
for you? I love being able to help, no matter what it is,
20:45
who it is. I love that if somebody has an issue and I'm
20:51
able to either connect them with the right people or get things fixed so that
20:56
it helps them. So one of my biggest I just love helping people.
21:02
It's something I've always done. I love being active and out in the community,
21:07
love advocating for the things I believe in, and I love being able
21:12
to stand up and do that. What are some of those things you believe
21:15
in? What are some of the core values if you will at Kathy hescrom
21:18
the core values pro life above and beyond all all life. All babies deserve
21:25
life, All life is worthy. Pro Second Amendment. I am pro jobs
21:30
in West Virginia. I want I want people to want to stay here.
21:37
We have a beautiful state. And like I said, I left for about
21:41
a year and I'm so happy I came back. And I want people to
21:45
have the jobs here that they can raise their families on. I want them
21:49
to be able to stay. I want their kids to be able to stay.
21:52
I want my kids to be able to stay, and the ones that
21:55
have left the state, I want them to come home. So I am
21:59
very pro jobs in West Virginia and bringing in businesses. And I'm pro less
22:04
government and keeping money in people's pockets. Talk with Della. Get to Kathy
22:10

22:36
Explain District nineteen. What areas were talking about here? So District nineteen
22:40
is it's the largest land district within Putnam County. All three of the main
22:45
districts within Putnam have the same amount of voters population in them, but District
22:52
nineteen has the largest land district. So I have everything on the north side
22:56
of the river. And then if we come across Nitro Saint Albans Bridge and
23:00
say we start about there, we go down to about Scary Creek, come
23:06
up Scary Creek and Hendrick Road to the thirty five sixty four split, come
23:11
down and follow sixty four when you hit Bill's Creek, you come down Bill's
23:15
Creek, then over Blue Lick back down to eight seventeen, down to the
23:21
Marina right before Winfield and then back up eight seventeen to the Nitro Saint albans
23:27
Bridge area, So that's there's a little bump over there on the south side
23:30
of the river, Partiscott Depot. What are you most proud of as far
23:36
as your legislative career goes, some of the things that you've worked on that
23:38
you're most proud of. The most proud vote that I made was my pro
23:48
life vote. That was one. It's something I have stood for since I
23:53
that I know of, since I was ten years old. I didn't know
23:56
anything about abortion before that time, really, and it was about that age
24:00
that I learned about it and I've been pro life ever since. And when
24:06
I was able to save thousands of babies lives in West Virginia, that was
24:15
the most proud moment I had. I knew that's what I was there for.
24:22
Talk about your rise in politics, because you were somebody I mean,
24:26
I don't know whether you were always interested in politics, but I mean you
24:30
were somebody that you know, kind of kind of just years ago, just
24:34
kind of not years ago, not a long time ago, but but but
24:37
just kind of what it was, I mean, just kind of came out
24:41
of out of nowhere for this rise in politics to be you know, one
24:44
of the one of the legislators under the dome that is often quoted because you
24:49
say quotable things from time to time. But but but let's talk about your
24:53
riots in politics. Oh okay, let's see. Well, I've always been
24:57
outspoken before I moved to Putnam County, I've always been one of the I
25:03
was always one of those kids that knew what was writing and fought for it.
25:11
But became a mom, stay at home mom, raising my kids,
25:17
And probably the turning point to where I got even more involved was when my
25:26
son there was an issue in his kindergarten class and I had audio taped that
25:33
classroom, and because I couldn't get the principal or the school system to do
25:38
anything, and it came out that the teacher and the aid were verbally abusing
25:42
the children all day long, and I ended up pulling them out about a
25:48
year later, finally gave up that the school wasn't going to do a school
25:52
system wasn't going to do anything, pulled them out to homeschool, and through
25:56
homeschooling, I started getting a little bit more involved. And then within that
26:03
I got involved with West Virginia Citizens, the Fence League, and they were
26:07
the ones that probably got me the most involved. We were at the Capitol.
26:12
We were always lobbying for Second Amendment rights, making, trying to get
26:18
constitutional carry past and everything. And the more I was down at the Capitol,
26:22
the more I felt at home that that was where I needed to be
26:25
and where I wanted to be. It was something I loved to do,
26:29
and I continued staying more involved. I started lobbying for other issues, homeschooling,
26:34
school choice, pro life, several things, just things that were close
26:40
to my heart. Nothing I was getting paid for anything. I was still
26:42
stay at home homeschooling mom. And the longer I was down there, the
26:48
more I kept asking myself, why am I asking these yahoo's to do it
26:52
and not doing it myself? Yahoo's Yahoo's even a very outspoken advocate, if
26:59
you will, of a parental choice. Some have tried to paint you as
27:04
somebody who's anti public school in my talking to you and having you on the
27:11
show in the past. That's not the case. No, it's not.
27:14
You're just more for parental choice. Correct. Parents should be able to choose
27:18
what is best for their child. What is best for your child is different
27:25
than what's best for my child. Even within a family, what's best for
27:29
one child is different than what's best for another. And I think that parents
27:34
should have the choices out there available for them to be able to choose on
27:41
what makes that child successful academically and in life and will continue to love learning
27:48
even after they get out of school. Because I'm sorry, you know,
27:52
as well as I do, most of the things we learn in school we
27:56
don't remember now. It's something that you continue to do throughout your whole life.
28:03
And it's the things that you interest you and that you love that you
28:07
are more likely to learn and take in all that information for. And it's
28:11
something that we need to instill in kids the best way possible that they love
28:18
to learn and learn how to love that. And that's what I want.
28:23
I want kids to have that choice. I want parents to have that choice
28:27
on what is best for their child and what works for them and what will
28:32
make them a successful adult, productive members of society. How's the campaign been
28:40
so for them? It's what are you hearing out it? When you're out
28:41

28:47
type forums, it's all you wanted one at one the other day your opponent
28:51
was also there. So what overall has the campaign been. I think it's
28:55
been going great. I get wonderful feedback, whether it's knocking doors or way
29:00
being signs. You know, the occasional finger here and there, but you
29:04
know it goes with the territory. I guess, well, they don't know
29:08
about you. Is that you give it back? I'm kidding, I'm car.

34:20
All right, so May the fourth, May the fourth tomorrow things going
34:22
on all over the country literally, and the folks in the city of Hurricane
34:29
have got some big events going on tomorrow. I originally had Amanda Smith Raimi
34:32
from the City of Hurricane scheduled to be here. When some things came up,
34:36
she could not be here. As far as we know, that event
34:37
is still going on. I say that because there is rain in the forecast
34:40
for tomorrow. I've got in for I got a little poster posted about my
34:45
social media, So if you want any information about all the activities going on
34:47
with May the fourth and Hurricane, you can go check out my social media
34:52
for that. And again, I talked to Amanda earlier this morning. Unfortunately
34:54
she could not be with us this morning. But they'll have information out there
35:00
if it's postponed. Because Spencer and Brian and the folks tell me that there
35:04
is rain in the forecast tomorrow, so it'll be posted if it's postponed.
35:07
But as of right now, everything is continuing as scheduled. Coming up a
35:13
little bit later on. Hoppy Kerchieval is doing the show talk line from the
35:16
studio here and he is going to be joining us to talk about that a
35:21
little bit later on. I'm just fun to have Hoppy on, as I
35:23
guess also fun to have dealing to mcclamahan with us. How are you,
35:27
Talor, good morning. I'm doing wonderful. How are you. I'm doing
35:30
fine. Thanks for coming in being thrust it into the show. Jill Scarborough,
35:34
man, she's hard cool. She put me on the spot. She
35:36
put me on the spot for sure. I had Jill Risley scheduled and she
35:38
said, you know, something happened and she wanted to send you. So
35:43
he's a busy lady. I always love talking about cares, all right,
35:47
talking about it all right. So first of all, give me your background,
35:52
and because you've got a little bit more knowledge from what I understand talking
35:55
to Jill than what the average person does on this subject of autism and things
35:59
that nature. So so just kind of to just tell me about you.
36:01
So I have three children, two of them have autism. One is just
36:07
Aubrey. But so my oldest son with autism is just about to turn fourteen,
36:15
and one is four, So I've gotten to experience this kind of decade
36:21
long span of how the world is changing and growing to be more inclusive and
36:25
accepting of children and individuals in general who have autism. And so when I
36:32
had sorry, I'm popping all over the place, but fine, there was
36:37
such a lack of resources. I felt like I was thrown into the ocean
36:42
without a life raft. My husband and I joke that we accidentally subscribed to
36:47
Parenting Plus because we had a lot of medical and educational things to navigate that
36:52
we weren't prepared for. And that eventually led me to say, well,
36:58
I want my career and what I do with my life to benefit families like
37:04
mine, and so now I am a family support specialist and advocate for Cares.
37:09
Now, a lot of parents in your particular situation could just take care
37:15
of your own, Just take care of your family, get them raised,
37:17
and do the things that you have to do, which would be completely understandable,
37:21
but you wanted to take it to a different level because you, as
37:23
you said, you wanted to help other families to talk about that. Yes,
37:28
absolutely, West Virginia is a what we call a service desert. There's
37:34
not on a national scale, we just are detrimental to our families when it
37:40
comes to support our education systems. We have lovely, beautiful, wonderful teachers
37:47
and para professionals, However, systematically they still struggle with having their own tools
37:55
to help support families. Same goes with the number one recommended treatment not cure.
38:02
Autism is not curable, and I do want to make that very clear.
38:07
But treatment making someone's life navigating the world with autism easier is ABA applied
38:13
behavioral analysis. However, in West Virginia, four percent of children with autism
38:20
have realistic access to ABA, leaving the other ninety six percent floundering. I
38:25
love West Virginia. This is my community. I've lived here my whole life,
38:30
and while I never really had the financial privilege to be able to move
38:35
out of state, I wouldn't want to anyway. I want my home and
38:38
my culture to be enjoyed by families just like mine who live with autism,
38:44
and so I take a lot of pride in being able to talk to parents
38:50
one on one and say I get how you're feeling. I understand so much
38:54
of your experience, and you're not alone, and let's walk through this together.
39:00
Talk about the way that society views children and adults with autism and how
39:07
it's changed over the years. Oh, it's again. What I really love
39:13
is that I have this kind of anecdotal experience of having children with autism ten
39:17
years apart. So when one example is when I was trying to get my
39:23
oldest son, Reese, just the diagnosis, figuring out, why isn't my
39:29
baby talking yet, Why doesn't my baby seem to respond to his name,
39:34
Why do socks seem to hurt my baby's feet? You know, really,
39:37
I was trying to get really practical answers, and the answer was your child
39:42
has autism. But what I got instead was a pediatrician telling me, well,
39:47
do you think you giving him apple juice? Is just giving him too
39:51
much sugar and he's acting a little different. And when I got my son
39:57
his autism diagnosis, finally, the only on further instructions I was given,
40:02
I was told, your child has autism, and then I was told,
40:05
here's where you pay for parking, so just I can flame. I don't
40:09
mean to laugh at that, but I mean, it's just kind of that
40:13
it's so absurd, it is funny, right, It's I definitely find humor
40:16
in the absurdity. And so it was. It was a fight I had
40:22
to and a big part of what led me to be this as a professional
40:25
is I had to learn, Okay, how what are my child's educational rights
40:31
in school? What are my child's medical rights? What kind of therapies do
40:37
I have realistic access to? It was, it was hard. It was
40:42
a constant battle, and I was so angry at the way the system was
40:46
making me kind of swim up current all the time that I did say I
40:52
I don't want this to happen to my peers and families. I don't want
40:54
it to be like this. And so a little bit before I had my
41:02
third child, who's my second son with autism, I discovered CARES, Community
41:07
Autism Resources and education systems. I was actually setting in a social work class
41:14
and Jill Scarborough, who has me speaking here today, came to our class
41:17
to discuss potential volunteers or internship opportunities for CARES, and she's described CARES.
41:29
When she was describing CARES, she was describing my family. Many families in
41:32
West Virginia are either socially excluded, meaning you get a lot of stares,
41:38
you get a lot of unwanted comments. You get a lot of social perceptions
41:43
that you, as a parent are doing something wrong simply by having a child
41:46
with a disability, and that makes you want to stay inside, and that
41:51
leads to self isolation where you choose I will stay in this bubble I call
41:55
home because the world is too cruel, and CARES was a bubble out in
42:01
this world I perceived as so cruel, where I was seeing so many children
42:09
like my son that might need a little bit of extra help in understanding what
42:15
he's communicating, or he might have some behaviors that appear odd but are certainly
42:20
not harmful, and those can be looked past to see a joyful child.
42:24
And I just fell in love. We have not missed a monthly CARES event
42:30
since and that was years ago. And we get some events going on like
42:34
tomorrow, right, yes, yes, all right, let's hit that before
42:37
we let you go. So tomorrow is our awesome family fun day. It
42:42
is all about celebrating that we belong in public spaces. We deserve for our
42:49
families to have family experiences, for our children to have childhoods. It's I
42:55
think we're well passed autism awareness. We're aware autism out there, but now
43:01
it's about autism inclusion and acceptance. So our awesome family Fun day tomorrow is
43:07
a perfect, perfect example. Or it's going to be held at Valley Park.
43:12
It is a hurricane. Yeah, in hurricane it is a rain or
43:14
shine event. So we've got some fun planned in the conference center. If
43:17
we do get those thunderstorms we're talking about, we're not going to let it
43:22
rain on our parade. Yes, and what time does the start it?
43:24
We kick off at twelve and the event goes until three. Let me I
43:29
have a question here for you. Somebody want to be able to ask you
43:30
before we let you go. According to your guest or, can you ask
43:34
her? What percentage of kids are born with autism? So that is constantly
43:38
changing. I believe, I hate I don't have that percentage right now.
43:44
It's something around one in eighty eight. There is a higher prevalency in boys,
43:50
but that may be because it's a little bit just harder to catch on
43:52
girls. Can I go ahead and share the CARES resource number? Wait?
43:57
Please do go ahead, So if families would like to text or call three
44:01
oh four nine three five four one oh. I am so happy to help

47:04
to project the spring, please shop locally. They're also hiring stop by any
47:07
location for details as a General hardware WV dot com hobby Kirschwille coming up a
47:12
talk line at ten oh six. Matter of fact, he's here. Good
47:15
morning. How are you, sir. I'm great to flattered and honored to
47:17
be on the Dave Allen Show. You're an institution here in Charleston. I
47:22
am, or I'm in an institution. It's I meant to say that.
47:24
Yeah, yeah, exactly. You know, I've been on your show,
47:27
but you've never been on mine. I never have. I want to get
47:30
it. I don't get invited. You know, well, you're always invited.
47:32
It's it's kind of weird, I think, hoppy for one of us
47:36
to be interviewed. I know I'm on from Weekly, I've been on your
47:38
show and on Dave Wilson on with Weekly. It's kind of weird to be
47:40
on the other side, isn't it. It really is. I'd rather ask
47:44
the questions than answer them, and they get tongue tied. Like you ask
47:45
me some provocative question, I'll start to get tongue tied about it. So
47:49
in fact, I had Mike Stewart on the other day, you know,
47:52
of course, candidate for attorney general, and he he was very animated.
47:55
He started turning in around on me and asking me questions. He's good,
48:00
yeah, and I said, come on, Mike, let me do that.
48:01
Let me do the questioning here. He's done the same thing to me.
48:05
We love you, Mike. All right, you're in town because the
48:08
three guys before the game, you're going to be doing some sort of a
48:12
taping day. There's an event. I don't think they're taping up, and
48:15
there's events with the boy I should know where we're going. Tony works all
48:19
these things out. It's with the CPA CPAs. Yes, yeah, it's
48:24
it's what the CPA organizations. You know more about it than I do.
48:28
You should show up. I saw it on the Twitter's on Twitter. That's
48:31
fat. Yeah, with the CPAs today. So Brandon Tony are coming down.
48:34
So we're going to do an event over there today. But also I'll
48:37
do my show here live in your studios today. Talk about the popularity of
48:39
three guys. You know, three guys is become a kind of a phenomenon,
48:45
and I guess it's because it's three guys that are pretty recognizable in the
48:51
state talking about sports, particularly WVU sports, and having fun doing it.
48:55
And what we the feedback we get is that people enjoy like, hey,
48:59
this is fun. You got are having a good time, You're busting on
49:00
each other, and it's everybody's sort of in on the joke. So it's
49:05
just it's a fun thing to do. And sometimes we're serious about real information.
49:07
Sometimes we're just goofing on each other. So it's a it's a fun
49:10
thing we have a good time doing. I think if we're having a good
49:13
time doing it, then people listening have fun with it. And how many
49:15
episodes now, oh, gosh, five something five or something five hundred and
49:21
some Did you think it would be this big when you started? No,
49:24
but sure of anything we do it is business, right, But you know
49:27
the key is and there are a lot of podcasts, you know what the
49:30
key is is consistency is to keep doing it. I say that even though
49:32
I'm not there some of the time, but the key is consisting. A
49:35
lot of people start podcasts with great enthusiasm and it's like, well, I'm
49:37
not going to do one this week, right, but you got to be
49:40
there. You got to keep doing it. And so we do two a
49:43
week during seasons football and basketball. There in the summer, maybe it slows
49:46
down to one or two a week, but we're always uh but it's always
49:50
going to be there, And I think that's a big thing. What's coming
49:52
up on talk line today West Virginia Poles can be West Virginia Poul the Metro
49:55
News West Virginia pol We're going to release a ten oh six on the race
49:58
for the Republican Omation governor. We have new numbers on that, and it's
50:01
going to be I'll just say this, I don't want to blow the lead
50:05
here. It's going to be provocative, provocative. It's going to be provocative,
50:09
and there's going to be a lot of discussion about it. Our poster
50:13
rex Repass is going to be on and I think but I can tell you
50:16
this, Dave, what's going to show without giving you the specific numbers still
50:21
ten oh six. It will and a story will be posted by Brad mackliny
50:23
at wv metronews dot com. What it will show is what you've been talking
50:27
about in your show. This is a close race. This is a close
50:30
race. You've talked to the candidates, you've covered this race. It's close.
50:34
And I don't think any of the candidates can say, oh, I
50:37
got this thing wrapped up. You know it's and and there's still some movement
50:39
that can and will occur between now and the fourteenth. So that's what I
50:45
think that that poll. People will focus in on the specific numbers, but
50:49
the bottom line will be, Hey, this thing could go any number of
50:53
directions. I got a text for you, okay, for Hoppy. Do
50:58
you know where to find the highlights the video of Pat why to Pat mcavee
51:01
played at the spring game. Would love to see it. I don't.
51:07
We're working on it. Effort, all right, efforting. Let me ask
51:09
you before we go. Yeah, I brought this up on the show I
51:12
saw. I've been doing the show for four years, been radio for a
51:14
long long time. Are you surprised at the amount? And I love my
51:19
listeners, don't give me long and I listen to your show every day,
51:21
But are you surprised at the amount of for lack of a better term,
51:24
venom that's out there, and how people just can't seem to agree to disagree
51:29
anymore. There's a lot of venom out there, and I think it's reflective.
51:31
It's not just here. I think it's reflective of the culture. I
51:34
think there's been a coartioning of the culture. But I also think that for
51:37
the for the angst and anger and venom that is out there. I think
51:43
there is a large crowd of folks that just aren't doing that right, you
51:47
know that just are listening to you and maybe they won't participate and just are
51:52
going about their daily lives and they're really not into the anger thing. But
51:54
there's no question and you know this, there is a lot of anger out
51:58
there, no question about it. It on Steam release. That's okay,
52:02
gotta have again, Dave, you know that, all right, I'll be
52:06
couracs. I don't coming up in a matter of Moment's talk about at ten
52:08
o six. Thank you, sir, Thank you, You're always welcome here.
52:10
