- 0:27Speaker 1: Go to UnleashProsperity.com. Steve Moore, how you doing?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Hi, Mark. I'm doing well. Thanks for having me.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Hey, President Trump, with all these deals around the world
- 0:39Speaker 1: and tariffs and all the things he's trying to get
- 0:41Speaker 1: business back, he says he can bring back $ 20 trillion
- 0:45Speaker 1: to the U.S. Is that possible?
- 0:48Speaker 2: That's a big number, isn't it? I think it's probably
- 0:51Speaker 2: an exaggeration. I know that Donald Trump exaggerates. Exaggerating by
- 0:56Speaker 2: Donald Trump. That never happens with Donald Trump. But the
- 0:59Speaker 2: numbers are very good. We've imported already about $ 2. 5 trillion
- 1:04Speaker 2: from the rest of the world, and that makes us
- 1:06Speaker 2: the magnet for capital. That's why when people say the U.S.
- 1:09Speaker 2: economy is weak, it's not weak. I mean, why would
- 1:12Speaker 2: everybody be investing here? if they didn't think this was
- 1:15Speaker 2: a great environment for business, great environment for workers, et cetera.
- 1:19Speaker 2: So these are big numbers, and you can almost judge
- 1:24Speaker 2: what countries are doing best economically by where, follow the money, right, Mark?
- 1:30Speaker 2: Where the money goes, that's where the investment is, that's
- 1:33Speaker 2: where the jobs are, that's where the opportunities are. So
- 1:35Speaker 2: it's a pretty amazing statistic, but probably not 20 trillion,
- 1:39Speaker 2: probably closer to two to five trillion, but that's still
- 1:42Speaker 2: a big number.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yeah. But as we lost the manufacturing of everything, cars, everything, medicine,
- 1:47Speaker 1: it all went overseas, tech products.
- 1:50Speaker 2: It's coming back. That's the amazing thing. A lot of
- 1:52Speaker 2: this is coming back. And we're seeing a manufacturing and
- 1:55Speaker 2: construction boom in the country right now, which is really encouraging.
- 2:00Speaker 2: So that's the mythology. Now, Trump has brought a lot
- 2:04Speaker 2: of the jobs back in the blue collar area. Now,
- 2:08Speaker 2: Trump would say that's because of the terrorists, but You know,
- 2:10Speaker 2: I think it's more a result, Mark, of the Trump big,
- 2:13Speaker 2: beautiful tax bill that allowed businesses to write off their taxes,
- 2:18Speaker 2: their expenditures for plant equipment, machinery, research and development. And
- 2:24Speaker 2: that's made the United States a much more financially attractive
- 2:28Speaker 2: place to invest in. I mean, we really are the
- 2:32Speaker 2: global envy of the world. You know, everybody's looking at
- 2:35Speaker 2: the United States and saying, you know, I want what
- 2:37Speaker 2: they have.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Steve Moore, they keep acting like the number one
- 2:41Speaker 1: issue is gas prices. The number one issue. Well, gas
- 2:46Speaker 1: prices going up. Well, that could cost somebody, you know,
- 2:48Speaker 1: an extra hundred dollars a month. But Democrats have raised
- 2:51Speaker 1: your electric bill an extra 200 a month. So isn't
- 2:54Speaker 1: that the bigger problem, your electric costs?
- 2:57Speaker 2: Well, that's a big problem. And it's true that the
- 3:01Speaker 2: that the blue states have much higher electric power costs.
- 3:04Speaker 2: You know, we. We use, in addition to gasoline, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 2: oil that we use in our tank for our cars,
- 3:13Speaker 2: you know, we are massive producers of natural gas. And
- 3:17Speaker 2: that's part of the great bounty from Trump's drill baby
- 3:22Speaker 2: drill policy. And natural gas is how we get most
- 3:25Speaker 2: of our electric power. A lot of people don't actually
- 3:27Speaker 2: even know where we get our electric power comes from.
- 3:29Speaker 2: A lot of it comes from natural gas and a
- 3:31Speaker 2: lot of it comes from good old-fashioned coal.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And so we.
- 3:35Speaker 2: are paying about half as much as Europe pays because
- 3:38Speaker 2: they went in all in for the green stuff, the
- 3:41Speaker 2: wind and solar, which is fine, but it's not scalable.
- 3:46Speaker 2: It's very expensive to produce and it's not reliable. So
- 3:49Speaker 2: we have a big advantage when it comes to energy. Now,
- 3:52Speaker 2: on the gas prices, yes, they are up. But one
- 3:55Speaker 2: of the things we point out in our hotline yesterday
- 3:58Speaker 2: was that guess what states, Mark, have the highest gas prices?
- 4:04Speaker 1: Uh, wild guess blue States.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Guess which one?
- 4:08Speaker 1: Uh, California, New York. Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I was just in Los Angeles, uh, about a week
- 4:14Speaker 2: ago and it was like six 49 a gallon there.
- 4:17Speaker 2: It's like a dollar to a dollar 50 higher than other,
- 4:21Speaker 2: other States. So, you know, I don't get the logic.
- 4:24Speaker 2: If you're angry about gas prices, I am, I hate,
- 4:27Speaker 2: you know, paying $ 80 to fill up my tank. But,
- 4:30Speaker 2: you know, you pay the highest gas prices in the
- 4:32Speaker 2: states that are run by Democrats. So do you think
- 4:33Speaker 2: they're going to lower the price when they get into power?
- 4:36Speaker 2: I doubt it.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah. But here in New York, Kathy Ogle blocking the
- 4:40Speaker 1: natural gas, Cuomo shutting down Indian Point, that quadrupled everybody's
- 4:44Speaker 1: electric bill. So what is the actual opposition to natural gas?
- 4:49Speaker 1: It's as clean as can be. Yeah.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Do you remember that famous incident when Nancy Pelosi says, well,
- 4:55Speaker 2: I'm against fossil fuels, but I like natural gas? Somebody
- 4:59Speaker 2: had to point out to the Speaker of the House
- 5:01Speaker 2: that natural gas is a fossil fuel. But natural gas
- 5:04Speaker 2: is clean. It's efficient.
- 5:06Speaker 1: It's abundant.
- 5:06Speaker 2: It's made in America. It should be the fuel of
- 5:10Speaker 2: choice for America. And we are producing a lot of it.
- 5:14Speaker 2: We are now the number one producer of natural gas,
- 5:16Speaker 2: and we're the number one producer of oil today. So
- 5:20Speaker 2: this drill baby drill policy is working. The problem is
- 5:23Speaker 2: we got all these problems overseas in Russia and in
- 5:26Speaker 2: the Middle East that are raising the gas price. It's
- 5:28Speaker 2: not like there's a shortage of gas. Now, Trump, you
- 5:31Speaker 2: may have seen he's taking a lot of flack for saying, well,
- 5:33Speaker 2: this benefits the United States, the fact that oil prices
- 5:36Speaker 2: are high. I would not have put it like that.
- 5:38Speaker 2: But it is true that, you know, when you and
- 5:40Speaker 2: I were kids, we were, remember, we're importing all this
- 5:43Speaker 2: oil from Saudi Arabia and the OPEC countries, and they
- 5:46Speaker 2: had a stranglehold on the U.S. economy. And the good
- 5:48Speaker 2: news is now that we're the number one producer, you
- 5:51Speaker 2: can't have a cartel if you don't have the number
- 5:53Speaker 2: one producer in your cartel. So we've really defanged OPEC
- 5:57Speaker 2: in a very positive way by just producing more oil
- 5:59Speaker 2: and gas here at home in Texas and Oklahoma and
- 6:02Speaker 2: New Mexico. And by the way, one of the states, Mark,
- 6:06Speaker 2: that has the most oil is California. And yet they
- 6:10Speaker 2: refuse to go after it. And then it'd be like
- 6:14Speaker 2: Alaska running out of ice.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah. So- Our economy, forget the gas prices, our economy
- 6:20Speaker 1: otherwise is doing very well. Is that the case all
- 6:24Speaker 1: over the world? Is everybody else doing very well with
- 6:26Speaker 1: their economy? Not Europe. Not Europe.
- 6:31Speaker 2: And by the way, China's actually been in a kind
- 6:34Speaker 2: of a mini depression themselves. Their stock market's been flat,
- 6:37Speaker 2: whereas ours keeps going up and up and up. But
- 6:39Speaker 2: the big problem is socialist Europe. Look what's happening in France, Italy, Germany, U.K.,
- 6:46Speaker 2: real problems in those countries and uh and they they
- 6:49Speaker 2: are uh more socialist so why would we want to
- 6:53Speaker 2: be more like them when our economy is doing so
- 6:55Speaker 2: much better i don't understand these democrat socialists who say
- 6:58Speaker 2: oh let's be more like you know germany and germany
- 7:01Speaker 2: practically has de-industrialized their economy with all of the socialism
- 7:05Speaker 2: and the green energy stuff so we should not use
- 7:08Speaker 2: europe as a model europe is now a model of
- 7:11Speaker 2: what not to do oh.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Hey this whole um free everything, free buses, free the,
- 7:19Speaker 1: it's just, welfare system, sometimes it's great, but sometimes can
- 7:24Speaker 1: be abused. What does this do to our economy, these expenses?
- 7:31Speaker 2: Well, I always like to go back to one of
- 7:32Speaker 2: my heroes, Ronald Reagan, who used to say, you know,
- 7:35Speaker 2: economy that's big enough, you know, I mean, a government
- 7:38Speaker 2: that's big enough to give you everything you want is
- 7:40Speaker 2: big enough to take everything you've got. And so, yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 2: we can have all this free stuff, but, you know,
- 7:44Speaker 2: who's going to pay for the free stuff? You know,
- 7:47Speaker 2: you and I are going to raise our taxes through
- 7:49Speaker 2: the roof, and that's not a very good formula for
- 7:53Speaker 2: economic success. I mean, you should, you know, why do
- 7:56Speaker 2: people work? They work so they can get an income
- 7:58Speaker 2: so they can buy things. If you give everything to
- 8:00Speaker 2: people for free, free health care, free daycare, free food,
- 8:04Speaker 2: free housing, free this, free that, you think people are
- 8:06Speaker 2: going to go out and work? Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Medicare, too. Now they're pushing this Medicare for all. Has
- 8:11Speaker 1: this ever worked anywhere, this kind of government health care
- 8:13Speaker 1: for all?
- 8:15Speaker 2: Well, I hope people will go to our website at
- 8:17Speaker 2: UnleashPosperity.com and look at our new ad that shows that
- 8:21Speaker 2: Medicare for all, it's basically Democrats are going to destroy
- 8:25Speaker 2: Medicare because Medicare for all means nobody's going to get Medicare.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I mean, it's already in shaky finances. They want to
- 8:32Speaker 2: add 100 million more people to it. I mean, that's
- 8:35Speaker 2: going to bankrupt Medicare. So seniors should be very nervous
- 8:38Speaker 2: about this. This is a terrible idea. It's a Bernie
- 8:40Speaker 2: Sanders idea. Put everybody on Medicare. Everybody gets free health care.
- 8:45Speaker 2: You know, I don't know what that health care is
- 8:46Speaker 2: going to look like, but I don't think it should
- 8:47Speaker 2: be very good quality care. And seniors who depend on
- 8:51Speaker 2: Medicare are going to lose the quality care that they
- 8:55Speaker 2: get right now from Medicare. So it's a really terrible idea.
- 8:59Speaker 2: It puts Medicare in danger. And seniors should really think
- 9:02Speaker 2: about whether that's what you want because a majority of
- 9:05Speaker 2: the Democrats in Congress support Bernie Sanders' bill, Medicare for All.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah. And why is that? I mean, it doesn't work.
- 9:14Speaker 1: It's never worked. It always stinks. Is there unions involved?
- 9:18Speaker 1: Is there some reason these congressmen and women want to
- 9:21Speaker 1: do this?
- 9:23Speaker 2: They think that this is the way to lower the
- 9:26Speaker 2: prices for health care.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Now, look.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I'm not a big fan of the health insurance companies.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I do think we pay way too much for health care.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I think most people would agree with that. But it's
- 9:36Speaker 2: because we have too much government, not too little. If
- 9:38Speaker 2: we had a free market in health care, if we
- 9:40Speaker 2: paid for health care the way we pay for everything else,
- 9:42Speaker 2: I think it could cut health care costs significantly. But
- 9:46Speaker 2: it's because the government, you know, you've seen those charts, Mark.
- 9:49Speaker 2: What are the two industries over the last 50 years
- 9:51Speaker 2: that have had the highest increase in prices? Education and
- 9:54Speaker 2: health care, both run by government. Yeah.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Wow. Well, interesting stuff. That's why you should get the hotline.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's the best daily briefing every day. It's free. Absolutely free.
