- 0:00Speaker 1: She was like, do you think that Beyonce like reads
- 0:02Speaker 1: her reviews? She's like, do you think that Beyonce like
- 0:04Speaker 1: listens to what the She's like? Do you think Beyonce
- 0:06Speaker 1: would like get out of her mansion and like argue
- 0:09Speaker 1: with someone who said something. Next, she was like, no,
- 0:11Speaker 1: you have to think like Beyonce. You have to think
- 0:13Speaker 1: like I am so above this right, I'm not. It
- 0:15Speaker 1: doesn't even like hit me.
- 0:19Speaker 2: M hm. Hi, guys, welcome back to another episode of
- 0:25Speaker 2: Clyde Confidential.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Today.
- 0:26Speaker 4: I have some very fun guests.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I have one of my very good girlfriend's tanks and
- 0:31Speaker 2: her lovely assistant, Lauren.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Thanks for having us, ladies. We we honestly we were
- 0:36Speaker 3: waiting for the call.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 0:39Speaker 3: We had talking multiple conversations. We said, we hope it's
- 0:43Speaker 3: gonna come, and we don't know. We're excited for it.
- 0:45Speaker 5: I didn't want to bug you for it, but you.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Also knew it was coming.
- 0:49Speaker 3: We're gagged to talk about saying text to me.
- 0:50Speaker 5: She goes, I got good news. We got the ask
- 0:53Speaker 5: to do the podcast.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Hell yeah, we've been pumped. We've been really.
- 0:58Speaker 2: God well, welcome find I mean, I wish that I
- 1:02Speaker 2: was responsible for this because you guys have such an
- 1:04Speaker 2: epic relationship and everyone wants to know.
- 1:07Speaker 4: So now we're going to talk about it.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I love it. Yeah, you're not really lucky.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yeah, so how how long have you been together?
- 1:14Speaker 5: Four and a half years?
- 1:15Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Yeah, right, I think this summer will be five.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Lauren's the first assistant that I hired, you know, and
- 1:23Speaker 1: I had a few I interviewed a lot of people,
- 1:27Speaker 1: but I was a baby influencer and I honestly needed
- 1:31Speaker 1: help doing little stuff, opening.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Packages and just I just I was like, oh, it'll
- 1:36Speaker 3: probably be really casual. You know. We can work from
- 1:38Speaker 3: home most days.
- 1:39Speaker 1: And now she's like my chief of staff and literally
- 1:41Speaker 1: like runs everything in the business.
- 1:43Speaker 3: So it's been quite quite a five years.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Oh my god. And how did you guys meet?
- 1:47Speaker 5: Initially we had a mutual friend set us up. I
- 1:52Speaker 5: had reached out to her. I've had like a recruiting job,
- 1:55Speaker 5: and I was like tings into an assistant, Like I
- 1:57Speaker 5: really wanted something different. And I was like I don't care,
- 2:01Speaker 5: like I will return packages, I will get coffees for her,
- 2:04Speaker 5: like I'll do whatever, it doesn't matter. I just like
- 2:06Speaker 5: wanted something different now and she was like, yeah, I'll
- 2:09Speaker 5: set you guys up. So we got a coffee. She's
- 2:11Speaker 5: like she's actually hiring now. It took like a month
- 2:13Speaker 5: or so, and then kind of the rest is history.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Yeah wow, and what stage? So this was back post
- 2:21Speaker 4: pandemic or pre pandemic.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It was twenty twenty one, okay, yeah, rights post pandemic.
- 2:25Speaker 3: But like still yeah, yeah a little bit.
- 2:27Speaker 4: So very early days, very early days. And now you've
- 2:31Speaker 4: become chief of staff. So what was that. I mean,
- 2:34Speaker 4: let's go back to the early days.
- 2:35Speaker 2: What was the beginning of the job like, and what
- 2:38Speaker 2: drew you to Tinks? Well?
- 2:41Speaker 5: I saw her online like everyone, and I was like, oh,
- 2:43Speaker 5: she's so cool and funny and I would love to
- 2:46Speaker 5: work for her, but I just wanted something different. Like
- 2:50Speaker 5: I had a recruiting job, but it was in the
- 2:53Speaker 5: entertainment space, but like I just didn't really see myself
- 2:55Speaker 5: doing that long term.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Tinks was just starting off like she was literally just
- 2:59Speaker 5: like influencing can tiktoks on Instagram and I was like,
- 3:02Speaker 5: I feel like you were on the up and up trajectory,
- 3:04Speaker 5: but we didn't we didn't even have the podcast yet,
- 3:07Speaker 5: no or the book or anything. But I feel like
- 3:11Speaker 5: I saw that potential in you, and I was like,
- 3:14Speaker 5: I didn't want just like a job being an assistant,
- 3:17Speaker 5: Like I did want a job where I knew I
- 3:18Speaker 5: could grow into another role that kept evolving. So that
- 3:22Speaker 5: was also my goal in working with Tanks, And I
- 3:25Speaker 5: feel like we kind of had that conversation pretty from
- 3:29Speaker 5: the beginning.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I know, I don't even remember those early days.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I mean, it was so early on and it was
- 3:36Speaker 1: it was really just little stuff. But I think when
- 3:38Speaker 1: you work alone and you are making content and you're
- 3:41Speaker 1: just kind of that job can be a little bit
- 3:44Speaker 1: isolating sometimes. So it was nice to have a buddy
- 3:47Speaker 1: in the early days. It just was nice to have
- 3:49Speaker 1: someone to go to my meetings with, or you know,
- 3:51Speaker 1: open the packages with, or just come over and help
- 3:53Speaker 1: me film content or whatever.
- 3:54Speaker 3: So it was just it was a simpler time. It
- 3:56Speaker 3: was so crazy.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I mean, I think the first week was like my
- 3:59Speaker 1: birthday party in Vegas and I was like, Okay, you
- 4:01Speaker 1: have to come, and it was like that was the
- 4:03Speaker 1: big fire and I was like this is crazy, yeah,
- 4:06Speaker 1: and then it was like the craziest birthday ever. But
- 4:09Speaker 1: but it was just so much simpler, and now it's like,
- 4:13Speaker 1: it's just so different, but it's good.
- 4:14Speaker 3: It's good now, it's good. Then, it's just so different
- 4:16Speaker 3: than when we first started working together.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Yeah, was Lauren your first hire before getting an agent
- 4:21Speaker 2: or a manager or did they What was the order
- 4:23Speaker 2: of operation there?
- 4:24Speaker 3: I had a manager and did I have an agent?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 4:28Speaker 5: You had agents.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I had a manager and I had agents. One thing
- 4:31Speaker 1: about me is like I like to be staffed up,
- 4:33Speaker 1: like I'm not. I know a lot of talent is like,
- 4:34Speaker 1: oh I can do it myself.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I don't need a manager.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Not me.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I like to hire absolutely everyone I can smart. That
- 4:41Speaker 3: is what I love it. So I had a manager,
- 4:44Speaker 3: I had agents, and I was like, yeah, I need help.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I like, I need help day to day.
- 4:47Speaker 1: It's like and I also, I'm genuinely so disorganized, like
- 4:51Speaker 1: I really am. I'm really good at what i'm good
- 4:53Speaker 1: at and I'm bad at what I'm bad at. And
- 4:55Speaker 1: I was like, I would love to find someone who
- 4:57Speaker 1: was good at the things that I'm bad at.
- 4:58Speaker 3: So that was a big part, yeah, of it.
- 5:01Speaker 2: And when she first came on, what was what made
- 5:05Speaker 2: you hire Lauren? What was your first impression of her
- 5:07Speaker 2: and when did you kind of have that moment of thinking, Okay,
- 5:11Speaker 2: that's my girl.
- 5:12Speaker 1: She's Lauren is a very even keeled person, and she
- 5:16Speaker 1: has a very calm like affect, which I really like
- 5:19Speaker 1: because I'm a very up and down person. I you know,
- 5:23Speaker 1: a text will like make my whole day, or like
- 5:25Speaker 1: I'll see something sad and I will like ruin my
- 5:27Speaker 1: Like I'm very up and down, and she's very very
- 5:30Speaker 1: even keeled, and that was my first impression. She just
- 5:33Speaker 1: seemed sensible and like very very like calm, and.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Like capable, like she had capable vibes.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And truthfully, a lot of the other girls that I interviewed,
- 5:43Speaker 1: they wanted to be influencers, which is fine and I
- 5:45Speaker 1: support them in that, but I wanted someone who was like,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I want a career to grow into being a producer
- 5:51Speaker 1: or chief of staff or something like that.
- 5:53Speaker 3: That's what I was looking for.
- 5:54Speaker 1: A lot of the girls were like, I want to
- 5:55Speaker 1: be an influencer, so I want to get experienced, which
- 5:57Speaker 1: is totally fine. It just wasn't right for my business
- 6:00Speaker 1: and what I need. And so when she was like, no,
- 6:03Speaker 1: I want to you know, do other things and grow
- 6:05Speaker 1: into it, I was like Okay, this is good.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of like a conflict of interest because
- 6:09Speaker 2: there's so many kids who come through our inbox who
- 6:11Speaker 2: say I want to become an actor, and I'm like,
- 6:13Speaker 2: I can't really put you with one of.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Our actor clients.
- 6:15Speaker 5: It's just weird, right, Totally.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but you saw Tank says the brand, So that
- 6:21Speaker 2: made you really motivated to you saw the bigger picture
- 6:23Speaker 2: and all the things that would come later.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Totally. Yeah. I mean we didn't know what it would
- 6:28Speaker 5: be or would come up, but I did see the
- 6:30Speaker 5: potential in it, and I was like, I mean I
- 6:32Speaker 5: think when you interviewed me too, you were like, I
- 6:34Speaker 5: want these are the things I'm that we have kind
- 6:37Speaker 5: of on the books right now, like that we're like
- 6:39Speaker 5: looking to do. And I was like, okay, great, Like
- 6:40Speaker 5: I want to take that and run with it. So,
- 6:43Speaker 5: and that's what it's just been for the past five years.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 6:46Speaker 4: That's a really good run.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Honestly, it's more than more than many I mean, it's
- 6:51Speaker 2: a great, great life span.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 2: So yeah, when you were selecting your team or I
- 6:58Speaker 2: guess what I think a lot of people are probably
- 7:00Speaker 2: curious about is when you step into the influencer space.
- 7:03Speaker 2: How do you know when you are ready to build
- 7:06Speaker 2: out a team and how do you even do that?
- 7:09Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 7:09Speaker 1: I mean I truly cannot explain enough how much I
- 7:15Speaker 1: didn't know what was going on. I remember I called
- 7:17Speaker 1: my friend and I was like, what is an agent
- 7:19Speaker 1: and what is a manager and what do they do?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Because someone from an agency had reached out to me
- 7:25Speaker 1: and he said, I really think you've got it, Like
- 7:28Speaker 1: you're going to get a lot of calls very soon.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I think you should get a manager, and I think
- 7:32Speaker 1: you should wait to get an agent for like a
- 7:35Speaker 1: little while. Just get a manager, get your feet on
- 7:37Speaker 1: the ground. And that was good advice.
- 7:39Speaker 3: So I got it.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I started in April of twenty twenty on TikTok by August.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I had a manager and then I that helped me
- 7:47Speaker 1: a lot because I didn't know what I was doing.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I had no plan at that point. I was just
- 7:51Speaker 1: kind of like flying by the seat of my pants.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And then after a while we got the agency, and
- 7:57Speaker 1: then after.
- 7:58Speaker 3: That PR and then I got Lauren.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I think it just depends on your personality and it
- 8:04Speaker 1: depends on your goals. Like I said, I really like
- 8:07Speaker 1: I don't like negotiating. I don't like any of that
- 8:11Speaker 1: tough stuff, like I like to have walls of protection
- 8:14Speaker 1: up and people who are in my best interests and
- 8:16Speaker 1: people who get the vision. So for me, you know,
- 8:20Speaker 1: I think I did it in the right order. Like
- 8:22Speaker 1: I think it was good timing that makes sense.
- 8:24Speaker 2: And it was just people reaching out to you being like,
- 8:27Speaker 2: you have something here, this is what I recommend, so
- 8:30Speaker 2: you did no outreach.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I didn't even know like what they were saying, Like
- 8:34Speaker 1: I didn't even know. They were like, oh, you can
- 8:36Speaker 1: make money, and I was like, I wasn't trying to
- 8:38Speaker 1: be an influencer.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I had no idea what was going on. I was
- 8:40Speaker 3: out of work before.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I couldn't believe when I first got a message from
- 8:45Speaker 1: a brand Viewory shout Out Vieory my first brain deal ever,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and they were like, we'll give you like six hundred
- 8:49Speaker 1: bucks if you like wear.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Our pants in your video. And I was like what,
- 8:53Speaker 3: Like I was the lord.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I was like I went from like just really not
- 8:58Speaker 1: like having anything going on. I was floored and I
- 9:02Speaker 1: just I don't know, I couldn't believe it. So I
- 9:04Speaker 1: really needed that help from my management, from my agents,
- 9:07Speaker 1: and they were like no, You're like, you're gonna be
- 9:09Speaker 1: a content creator, You're gonna be an influencer, and I
- 9:11Speaker 1: still couldn't believe it. So I really I really needed
- 9:14Speaker 1: that structure and that support from the team because I
- 9:17Speaker 1: had no idea what was going on.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that's nuts to think about. I mean, it was
- 9:21Speaker 4: only what.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Six years ago that you started, and I feel like
- 9:24Speaker 2: you were one of the first people to like really
- 9:26Speaker 2: get on TikTok and blow up.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 9:28Speaker 1: It was a different time. It was really like the
- 9:30Speaker 1: golden era of TikTok. It was a totally different app.
- 9:34Speaker 1: People were on their phones for eight hours a day,
- 9:36Speaker 1: so it was right place, right time, and it was
- 9:41Speaker 1: that like I think of them as like the graduating class,
- 9:44Speaker 1: like those content creators like us who came up in
- 9:47Speaker 1: the pandemic.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Like it was really a great time online. It was
- 9:51Speaker 3: so happy.
- 9:52Speaker 1: It just felt like there was so much opportunity and
- 9:55Speaker 1: we just got to go.
- 9:56Speaker 3: To so many things and it was just it was before.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It now feels very influencer heavy, Like it feels really
- 10:02Speaker 1: like influencers have quite a negative perception on them, and
- 10:07Speaker 1: I don't know, it feels quite hard to get your
- 10:08Speaker 1: voice through on TikTok and it was just.
- 10:11Speaker 3: A really great time on the internet. So it was fun.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I mean, it sounds fun, and I think what sets
- 10:17Speaker 2: you apart, which is why I'm so I'm so proud
- 10:20Speaker 2: as your friend obviously, but I also look up to
- 10:21Speaker 2: you from a business standpoint.
- 10:23Speaker 4: I think that what sets you.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Apart from other influences is what you've done with your
- 10:27Speaker 2: platform over the years. Like I feel like people can
- 10:30Speaker 2: really stick within the fashion stuff or the brand partnership stuff,
- 10:34Speaker 2: but you've quite literally become the big sister of Instagram
- 10:37Speaker 2: and TikTok and social media, and you've used your platform
- 10:40Speaker 2: to give young women confidence and really amazing advice.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And there's no expiration date on that.
- 10:47Speaker 2: That is content that is going to live forever and
- 10:49Speaker 2: ever and ever, and you've really found a niche like,
- 10:52Speaker 2: it's so cool to see.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 10:54Speaker 1: It's I think like once I realized how many doors
- 10:59Speaker 1: were opening because of that's when I sat down and
- 11:01Speaker 1: I was like, Wow, I could actually use this to
- 11:03Speaker 1: get the things that I've always wanted. I've always wanted
- 11:06Speaker 1: to write a book, I've always loved radio, and then
- 11:09Speaker 1: it started becoming a reality, and that's when I really
- 11:12Speaker 1: needed to rely on my team because then I kind
- 11:15Speaker 1: of snapped into focus and I was like, I have
- 11:17Speaker 1: to make hay while the sunshines because I don't know
- 11:20Speaker 1: how big this window is and I'm going to use it.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna squeeze it for all every drop that it's worth.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yeah, what has been your favorite part of it so far?
- 11:28Speaker 2: I guess working together on all the various projects in
- 11:31Speaker 2: Tinks's world.
- 11:32Speaker 4: I mean, radio is really fun.
- 11:34Speaker 5: Radio we have a lot of fun. I feel like
- 11:35Speaker 5: that's your baby.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I've yeah, and I'm We've had the show for four
- 11:39Speaker 1: years and I literally can't believe they gave me a
- 11:42Speaker 1: radio show. I never had any radio experience, and we
- 11:45Speaker 1: got we did the deal, and I remember going in
- 11:48Speaker 1: and I was like, I was like, oh my god,
- 11:50Speaker 1: like I had no idea what the hell I was doing.
- 11:54Speaker 3: And I remember Drew Barrymore was the first caller.
- 11:57Speaker 1: They call me We'll start small as the first caller,
- 12:01Speaker 1: and I was like, I just like remember being so nervous.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But sometimes you just really have to figure it out
- 12:07Speaker 1: as you go, Like men do it all the time.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Just say yes and figure it out. You'll figure it
- 12:12Speaker 1: out when you get there, and I think growing the show,
- 12:17Speaker 1: like especially in the past year, we've grown it and
- 12:19Speaker 1: like Lauren has started to be a producer and she
- 12:22Speaker 1: started to talk on the radio, and we've bringing in
- 12:24Speaker 1: all these new formats and like, I don't know, I
- 12:26Speaker 1: don't want to speak for you, but working on it
- 12:29Speaker 1: like as a team has honestly been one of the
- 12:31Speaker 1: happiest times of like my years. We've just strategized and
- 12:35Speaker 1: I think for a while I was just kind of like, oh,
- 12:37Speaker 1: I love this and I'm like floating by whatever, and
- 12:40Speaker 1: then I was like, wait, I feel like this show
- 12:41Speaker 1: has more potential, and our whole team got together and
- 12:43Speaker 1: Lauren really spearheaded that and we've put together strategies that
- 12:47Speaker 1: we're seeing work, and that's so satisfying.
- 12:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm sure.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I mean, I'm an avid listener and you guys just
- 12:53Speaker 2: sound like you're having so much fun.
- 12:55Speaker 4: We are, and you do it.
- 12:56Speaker 5: It's a blast. It's my favorite part of the job.
- 12:58Speaker 5: And I feel like we're always just like a group
- 13:00Speaker 5: text with our larger team, like our producers and video
- 13:03Speaker 5: people and everything, and we're just like constantly not even
- 13:07Speaker 5: just share sharing ideas, but like sending articles are sending
- 13:10Speaker 5: many things that it's just funny and like having a
- 13:12Speaker 5: joke about it, because it's like radio is just always
- 13:14Speaker 5: on the top of mind always, Yeah, but not in
- 13:16Speaker 5: a bad way. It's just like, oh, this would be
- 13:18Speaker 5: so funny for radio. It'll be a Saturday and I'll
- 13:20Speaker 5: see something or think of it and I'm like, oh,
- 13:21Speaker 5: I have to text this, and it's just like it
- 13:24Speaker 5: makes it so much more fun.
- 13:25Speaker 4: It's amazing, that's really fun.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'd say, just like all the random adventures we have
- 13:29Speaker 1: are really fun. Like we've just had so many like
- 13:32Speaker 1: side quests, and it's just sometimes it's just you.
- 13:35Speaker 3: And your assistant doing it.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Like we'll be at a random thing and I'll like
- 13:38Speaker 1: look at Laura and I'll be like where are.
- 13:40Speaker 3: We what are we doing? Like what are we going on?
- 13:42Speaker 3: Like how did we get here?
- 13:43Speaker 1: And it's just like those those random memories and adventures
- 13:46Speaker 1: we've had are so fun and it's just made the
- 13:49Speaker 1: job like all that more joyful.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I think when you consider a candidate who's about to
- 13:55Speaker 2: come work for, you do have to think about, Okay.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Can I go to a work event with them?
- 13:59Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 13:59Speaker 2: Can I bring them into a room and have those
- 14:01Speaker 2: moments and have someone who can hang but but no
- 14:05Speaker 2: a boundary and not be like too annoying, but can
- 14:07Speaker 2: like be in a car with me for a million
- 14:09Speaker 2: hours or on a flight and at an event.
- 14:11Speaker 4: It's really important.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It's so hard, and I honestly got so I feel
- 14:17Speaker 1: like so lucky with Lauren because to hang out with
- 14:20Speaker 1: someone every day, and like I said, like I'm up
- 14:22Speaker 1: and down. I'm a really moody person, Like I'm very affected,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I'm very sensitive.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Like to find someone that we.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Really get along very well and like we're able to
- 14:31Speaker 1: spend a lot of time with each other.
- 14:34Speaker 3: It's like hard.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I mean the thought of like if I had to
- 14:36Speaker 1: find someone now, I don't know how I would begin
- 14:39Speaker 1: to do that because like I just like I'm also
- 14:41Speaker 1: a person who gets like irritated by people if they're
- 14:44Speaker 1: like you know, if they have weird things about them,
- 14:45Speaker 1: I'm like I can't do it. So even if the
- 14:47Speaker 1: person was a hard worker, I would need someone to
- 14:48Speaker 1: be like the right affect.
- 14:51Speaker 3: And it's just kind of crazy.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I mean, you're perfect, You're real damn good.
- 14:57Speaker 5: I mean also, it just has taken time of like
- 14:59Speaker 5: just knowing you, and I like also know when you
- 15:02Speaker 5: need space own or like that just comes up, like
- 15:04Speaker 5: getting to know someone really well.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, great, And I.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Think that's why it was really easy for you to
- 15:09Speaker 2: transition into this new role on the show, because you
- 15:12Speaker 2: spent so many years just doing the PA side and
- 15:15Speaker 2: learning tanks, learning all things tanks and like really gaining
- 15:18Speaker 2: her trust by doing simpler tasks.
- 15:21Speaker 4: And then when you.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Maybe maybe I'm speaking for you, but maybe when you
- 15:24Speaker 2: felt like it was time to grow, she already knew
- 15:27Speaker 2: that you were so capable and trustworthy, so it was
- 15:29Speaker 2: such an easy segue.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Yeahah, yeah, yeah, And I think no, Lauren has grown
- 15:33Speaker 1: so much, like as a person and also professionally in
- 15:37Speaker 1: the past five years, and she just I would say,
- 15:41Speaker 1: probably about a year ago, I was like, whoa, Like
- 15:44Speaker 1: she's on fire, Like she I really noticed a big
- 15:47Speaker 1: shift and she just started doing things that were you
- 15:51Speaker 1: know how they always say, like do the thing before
- 15:54Speaker 1: you ask to do it, just act that way, and
- 15:56Speaker 1: she just started acting like a producer. She just started
- 16:00Speaker 1: managing things that she wasn't doing before. And I was like, oh, whow,
- 16:02Speaker 1: She's like leveling up, which was so great to see.
- 16:05Speaker 1: It's obviously so amazing when you don't have to ask
- 16:08Speaker 1: someone to level up, they just are a self starter.
- 16:11Speaker 1: And I feel like finding people who are truly self starters,
- 16:14Speaker 1: especially in this.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Industry, is kind of hard.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Who are actually going to be like, oh no, I
- 16:18Speaker 1: like already did that for you, I thought about that,
- 16:20Speaker 1: or like or she'll think like, oh, you would be
- 16:22Speaker 1: annoyed about that, So I'm going to fix it for
- 16:24Speaker 1: your do whatever it is. Like, just doing it and
- 16:27Speaker 1: just taking the initiative is really rare.
- 16:30Speaker 4: So totally thank you. It's super rare.
- 16:33Speaker 2: So I feel like a lot of people in your
- 16:36Speaker 2: shoes would be curious about the conversation that you had
- 16:39Speaker 2: with Tanks to be like, can I take on more
- 16:41Speaker 2: of this? Or was there a conversation around it when
- 16:43Speaker 2: you guys were developing the show and in those early
- 16:46Speaker 2: days or with certain other projects.
- 16:48Speaker 4: How does that go?
- 16:50Speaker 3: I can't remember if we talked about you being on
- 16:52Speaker 3: the radio.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I think it just sort of happened naturally and we
- 16:55Speaker 1: were like, well, like you should just chime in or whatever,
- 16:58Speaker 1: and then it just sort of.
- 17:00Speaker 5: I moved to New York. Well that's true, because like
- 17:02Speaker 5: I was started being moved for you.
- 17:05Speaker 1: For me, She didn't and I said I obviously was
- 17:07Speaker 1: like we can do long distance, like it's no problem.
- 17:10Speaker 1: But then she visited me and I was like, I
- 17:13Speaker 1: like kind of had a weird gut feeling it would
- 17:15Speaker 1: happen because she visited me and she was like, I
- 17:17Speaker 1: think I want to.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Move here, and I was like, you said it, not me.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Thing's never asked me to move. But I did move
- 17:23Speaker 5: with work in mind as well, because I wanted to
- 17:26Speaker 5: level up. And I was like, it's not it wasn't
- 17:28Speaker 5: going to happen. If I was sitting in LA, That's
- 17:30Speaker 5: very true. I would be doing errands for you, like
- 17:33Speaker 5: in your LA house. Like it would be like this
- 17:35Speaker 5: was the way to do it. And also I was
- 17:37Speaker 5: obsessed with New York and I had friends here and
- 17:39Speaker 5: it made sense to move.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I also think that living in New York at any
- 17:44Speaker 1: time in your life kind of teaches you how to
- 17:48Speaker 1: be a harder worker.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I mean, cancel me if if whatever.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I don't care, but like something about New York it
- 17:55Speaker 1: like kicks your ass into high gear because like you
- 17:58Speaker 1: have to do be it that.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Way or you left behind.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And I think just sometimes moving like all the times
- 18:03Speaker 1: I've lived here, I've been like whoa, Like even myself
- 18:06Speaker 1: moving to New York, for me, it made me.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Like more like it just really drove me.
- 18:11Speaker 1: So I think it just whether you live here for
- 18:13Speaker 1: a year, whether you have an internship in New York.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I do think there's a certain like hustle that it
- 18:18Speaker 1: that it really teaches you.
- 18:19Speaker 5: Yeah, people grind really hard here and they don't really
- 18:22Speaker 5: like we're talking about it now, but they don't talk
- 18:24Speaker 5: about it either, like it's just like part of the culture,
- 18:26Speaker 5: like you work hard than you go do your life.
- 18:29Speaker 4: I think here is just so different.
- 18:31Speaker 2: It is so different, and I love LA, but it's
- 18:34Speaker 2: a different it's a different candidate.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it is exactly.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just I mean I think like your job
- 18:40Speaker 1: for me is way more demanding here, and that's partially
- 18:43Speaker 1: because you know, you've been working for working for me
- 18:47Speaker 1: for longer. But I also think it's just like it's
- 18:49Speaker 1: just a more demanding It's yeah, it's just.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Like more intense here in LA. We were like, oh,
- 18:55Speaker 3: we'll go get a smoothie and then we'll go to
- 18:57Speaker 3: the studio.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Yeah, it's also it's a thirty minute drive to your
- 18:59Speaker 5: how from mine, Like it's just different now, it's just
- 19:02Speaker 5: like you hop on the subway, you're there. I can
- 19:03Speaker 5: be there in five minutes.
- 19:04Speaker 3: So we have this.
- 19:05Speaker 5: It's just like we do everything in person.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, when you were moving to New York, did you
- 19:08Speaker 2: consider living near tanks or did you?
- 19:11Speaker 4: Was that not really a factor?
- 19:12Speaker 5: No, it wasn't really a factor. I'm conveniently on a
- 19:16Speaker 5: subway that's really close to her, so but it was
- 19:18Speaker 5: that was a bonus.
- 19:19Speaker 1: But like in La she lived like thirty minutes plus
- 19:21Speaker 1: drive to me, So it was like, you know, now
- 19:24Speaker 1: she's like, oh, I just I'll pop down and we'll whatever.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Like yeah, you know for a meeting planning Yeah, and
- 19:29Speaker 3: so you know, yeah, it's it is convenient.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
- 19:33Speaker 4: What days are you guys going into the studio.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Monday and Wednesday?
- 19:38Speaker 1: And then I record once the I do radio twice
- 19:40Speaker 1: a week and then of solo from home.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Okay, and what's everyone's So there's another member of your
- 19:46Speaker 2: team that's also in.
- 19:47Speaker 5: The radio with you.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I don't know his name, Steve Steve, and then we
- 19:49Speaker 1: have Jesse and we have Chris who's with us sometimes.
- 19:52Speaker 4: It's amazing.
- 19:53Speaker 2: So between the three of you, what are the different
- 19:55Speaker 2: I know your role on radio. But how do you
- 19:57Speaker 2: and Steve support her during the lives besides filtering people?
- 20:02Speaker 5: Right, Steve, Well, Steve works for Serious so he's like
- 20:06Speaker 5: her main pat Serious X. I'm employee, Like he's been
- 20:09Speaker 5: with her help it doing her show. He does a
- 20:10Speaker 5: solo podcast. He's like the main guy. So he does
- 20:14Speaker 5: the calls.
- 20:15Speaker 1: And yeah, he screens the call screen the calls, and
- 20:18Speaker 1: people have so many theories.
- 20:20Speaker 3: They're like, Steve never lets me through.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I'm like, We've got to as many people as possible,
- 20:24Speaker 1: and people really don't get it. But there's like there's
- 20:27Speaker 1: like a phone bank and it's like six there's six blocks.
- 20:30Speaker 1: So if you're in the six calls, you're in the
- 20:33Speaker 1: waiting room. And if you can't even get through, that
- 20:36Speaker 1: means you're in before the six. And then we see
- 20:38Speaker 1: the six and then we take them from there.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Right, and they produce.
- 20:41Speaker 1: They'll like, they'll look and they'll say, so Steve will
- 20:44Speaker 1: answer and be and write a summary of what it is,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and then we'll try to have a good mix of things.
- 20:50Speaker 1: You know, if it's been like five sad calls in
- 20:52Speaker 1: a row, then he'll be like, all right, let's.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Take this short that's what a producer does, and so
- 20:58Speaker 3: you know that's his role.
- 20:59Speaker 1: But Lauren helps a lot in like pre in like
- 21:04Speaker 1: pre show, like helps with articles, or she'll pull stuff.
- 21:08Speaker 1: She'll be like okay this, or or I'll be like
- 21:09Speaker 1: I don't know what to do about solo and she'll
- 21:11Speaker 1: be like, oh, you mentioned this, like I think you
- 21:12Speaker 1: should talk about that.
- 21:13Speaker 3: So it's like really helping me a lot.
- 21:16Speaker 1: And it was I've loved every iteration of the show,
- 21:20Speaker 1: but like there before we.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Kind of switch things up and included them more.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Like it was like a really really heavy lift because
- 21:28Speaker 1: I was doing basically three hours a week completely alone, right,
- 21:31Speaker 1: And it's like some that's hard, And I think it's
- 21:33Speaker 1: more fun to have like an ensemble cast of like
- 21:36Speaker 1: different you know, people jumping in and it's just more
- 21:39Speaker 1: like varied now.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Yeah, different opinions.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Totally different life choice.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I mean Steve is like married with kids, and like
- 21:45Speaker 1: Jesse's super young with a girlfriend and Chris is single.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Like it's just nice to have like different perspectives.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sure.
- 21:52Speaker 2: And do you guys have a memorable episode that you
- 21:56Speaker 2: think about think back to or is there a certain
- 21:59Speaker 2: caller that kind of sticks with you sometimes.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Well, recently, we had this caller who had this situation
- 22:05Speaker 1: about her boyfriend eating her steak, and it was like yeah,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and we had like people coming up to us on
- 22:09Speaker 1: the street being like being like she he should have never.
- 22:12Speaker 5: Eaten the steak.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Steak, steak.
- 22:14Speaker 5: It.
- 22:15Speaker 1: This girl like went to dinner with her boyfriend to
- 22:18Speaker 1: celebrate his job, him getting a new job, and she
- 22:22Speaker 1: has like frequent tummy aches and when she got to
- 22:25Speaker 1: the restaurant, I've like turned on her, okay, like I
- 22:28Speaker 1: like it as a joke, but like I'm joking but not.
- 22:30Speaker 3: But like she called and she was like, yeah, like
- 22:32Speaker 3: my stomach always hurts.
- 22:33Speaker 1: So when we got there, I couldn't eat the food
- 22:36Speaker 1: and I was like in my head, I was like, oh,
- 22:37Speaker 1: you're you're a my tummy hurts girl, you know, which,
- 22:39Speaker 1: which is fine, but like I was like maybe anyway.
- 22:43Speaker 1: They go home and she's like taking out the leftovers
- 22:47Speaker 1: to eat them, and the boyfriend's like, don't eat those.
- 22:50Speaker 3: I want those for lunch tomorrow, and she was like
- 22:52Speaker 3: what the and he.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Was like you can have these two burned pieces, which
- 22:55Speaker 1: is so fucked up, like so fucked up. And then
- 22:58Speaker 1: she was like, are you kidding me? And he was
- 22:59Speaker 1: like yeah, and then she dumped him.
- 23:01Speaker 5: She was like, so should I break up with him?
- 23:03Speaker 5: Like must be going on?
- 23:05Speaker 1: Yeah, she was like I already broke up with him,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and I was like oh okay. And it was just
- 23:09Speaker 1: like this everybody was so divided, which is my favorite
- 23:12Speaker 1: type of call where people it takes on so many
- 23:16Speaker 1: different you know, like it just.
- 23:18Speaker 3: It's I love, I love.
- 23:20Speaker 1: That's why I love the radio is because it's just
- 23:22Speaker 1: like these funny stories and everybody, Like people would stop
- 23:25Speaker 1: me at a restaurant and be like, oh, steak Gate like
- 23:27Speaker 1: that girl, and.
- 23:27Speaker 3: I was like, oh my god.
- 23:29Speaker 5: A lot of like inside jokes where people get in
- 23:31Speaker 5: on it, Like Tanks had a running bit about how
- 23:33Speaker 5: she wanted to marry or date a divorced dad and
- 23:37Speaker 5: like rename his children. It was just like a joke.
- 23:40Speaker 5: But like our team takes everything so far and like
- 23:42Speaker 5: beats everything like a dead horse. And so like this
- 23:45Speaker 5: guy called in from like South Florida and he was
- 23:48Speaker 5: like I want to take you on a date, of course,
- 23:49Speaker 5: like steep and threw right away, And we had a
- 23:52Speaker 5: whole joke about like renaming the kid mama Mia, and
- 23:55Speaker 5: it was just I don't know, but like those are
- 23:57Speaker 5: the things we just I don't even think anyone else
- 23:59Speaker 5: is laughing as hard as we are.
- 24:00Speaker 2: But we were like, are the kids if you were
- 24:02Speaker 2: to rename them, are they like little?
- 24:04Speaker 1: I want them to know, I said, I wanted them
- 24:06Speaker 1: to be like like seven and six, like or like
- 24:09Speaker 1: seven and five. Like that's perfect ages for me and
- 24:12Speaker 1: the divorced dad fantasy that I have.
- 24:15Speaker 2: I mean, I'm also down for divorced dad, but I
- 24:17Speaker 2: would be so scared.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Of like the kid's mother.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, you know in the fantasy that I said, she
- 24:21Speaker 1: were friends and she's a lesbian now, so she's not
- 24:23Speaker 1: even like upset likely factored. Yeah.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Yeah, we did work and the kids are down to
- 24:28Speaker 5: have their names.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Yeah they want to.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm obsessed.
- 24:33Speaker 2: So with everything you guys have going on, what's on
- 24:35Speaker 2: deck next? I know your show is coming out soon.
- 24:38Speaker 2: How does Lauren come into play there?
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yeah, we're working on the TV shows. I mean, I
- 24:43Speaker 1: had no idea how long it takes to make a
- 24:45Speaker 1: TV show. There is so many steps. Like I thought,
- 24:48Speaker 1: I thought, like as soon as they buy it, you're
- 24:49Speaker 1: like it just gets whisked away. And you just then
- 24:52Speaker 1: you have a TV show like three months later. But
- 24:55Speaker 1: it's just it's been a lot. I'm writing one of them,
- 24:58Speaker 1: and I'm co writing one of them rather and then
- 25:00Speaker 1: the other one. We have awesome writers on but it's
- 25:02Speaker 1: just like a lot of revisions and iterations. But so
- 25:05Speaker 1: we're working towards those. We're really focused on the show,
- 25:08Speaker 1: the radio show right now. We have lots of brand deals.
- 25:12Speaker 1: We're busy.
- 25:13Speaker 3: We have like this is our googu gaa time like
- 25:15Speaker 3: we have.
- 25:15Speaker 1: We had a chill first couple months of the year
- 25:18Speaker 1: we always do, and then it just hits and it's
- 25:20Speaker 1: like absolute chaos.
- 25:22Speaker 3: But it's fun. It's fun chaos.
- 25:24Speaker 2: I mean, I would have so much fun if I
- 25:27Speaker 2: was in either of your shoes working with each other.
- 25:29Speaker 4: It feels like a really I don't know, it doesn't.
- 25:32Speaker 5: Feel like work.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Obviously, you guys are so busy, but when you're with
- 25:35Speaker 2: someone like.
- 25:36Speaker 4: This, it feels like just fun.
- 25:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it works a lot of fun. I never dread
- 25:39Speaker 5: coming to work.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I mean that's true, Like it's always just like yeah, no,
- 25:43Speaker 1: we sometimes we say that we're like oh yes, glad,
- 25:46Speaker 1: this is our.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Job totally yeah, so fun.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, so what are I always love to ask this,
- 25:53Speaker 2: has there ever been like a crazy situation when you
- 25:55Speaker 2: guys are traveling, or like, what's the funniest thing that's
- 25:58Speaker 2: ever happened.
- 25:59Speaker 5: When you guys are working together?
- 26:00Speaker 1: Well, when Lauren turns on me and eventually writes a
- 26:04Speaker 1: memoir about how horrible I am. The reason that I'll
- 26:07Speaker 1: go to jail is. We were in Louisiana. We were
- 26:11Speaker 1: making the Tabasco. We were visiting Avery Island, for which
- 26:15Speaker 1: is where they make Tabasco.
- 26:17Speaker 2: And Avery Island sounds really scary.
- 26:20Speaker 1: It's if you haven't been around like gothic architecture, it
- 26:25Speaker 1: could be you know, Okay for me, like I didn't
- 26:27Speaker 1: grow up around Gothic architecture, so it like it did
- 26:29Speaker 1: scare me a little bit.
- 26:30Speaker 5: Okay, it's giving like Coven American horror story.
- 26:33Speaker 4: That's what the town was like.
- 26:35Speaker 3: So they kindly rented us in Airbnb.
- 26:38Speaker 1: But like I was really scared and like I'm already
- 26:41Speaker 1: afraid of the dark, Like I'm a big fraidy cat
- 26:44Speaker 1: about like everything.
- 26:45Speaker 3: And I made Lauren.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Sleep in the bed with me, and I made my
- 26:50Speaker 1: manager at the time, Saba, also sleep at like a
- 26:53Speaker 1: cot at the end of my bed and then I
- 26:55Speaker 1: like locked us all in and I like I barricaded
- 26:57Speaker 1: the chairs. I was like, you guys have to sleep
- 26:59Speaker 1: with me. Like that's that's HR, that's straight to HR.
- 27:03Speaker 3: But I was scared. It was on it.
- 27:06Speaker 5: No, it wasn't bad.
- 27:07Speaker 3: It wasn't bad, Lauren, it wasn't bad.
- 27:10Speaker 5: It was hilarious. I mean it was freaky. I wouldn't
- 27:12Speaker 5: have wanted to sleep alone there either.
- 27:14Speaker 4: She seems happy that you asked her to do that.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's fine. I'm trying to think about other crazy.
- 27:19Speaker 5: The flight's canceled. Like Harris liked travel stuff, that's inevitable.
- 27:27Speaker 5: I guess when you travel a lot.
- 27:28Speaker 3: I had some other really kooky times. I would say.
- 27:31Speaker 1: It's always like when we go to like a party
- 27:34Speaker 1: or it's like a set, it's on. We've had some
- 27:36Speaker 1: hard times too, Like I've had some really hard times
- 27:38Speaker 1: that Lauren's been there through. And it's like, I think
- 27:41Speaker 1: it's hard when it's just the two of you, when
- 27:43Speaker 1: someone is going through a hard time, it's always me
- 27:45Speaker 1: going through dog as.
- 27:46Speaker 3: I'm always going through something.
- 27:48Speaker 1: You know, it's it's hard, and it's like those are
- 27:50Speaker 1: some of the memories that stick out to me too,
- 27:52Speaker 1: because Lauren remains really calm and is like a constant
- 27:56Speaker 1: even when things are difficult.
- 27:57Speaker 3: So that's, you know, we've a lot of.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think the emotional aspect of it can be
- 28:03Speaker 2: really tough, because how can humans.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Possibly be one hundred percent every day?
- 28:08Speaker 2: And when you have an assistant who's used to coming
- 28:10Speaker 2: over to work with you Monday to Friday and you
- 28:13Speaker 2: have to like switch gears and be like hey, good morning,
- 28:16Speaker 2: and sometimes you just physically can't and it's really hard
- 28:19Speaker 2: to filter that. But you have to feel really safe
- 28:22Speaker 2: with your person so they can kind of understand like, Okay,
- 28:27Speaker 2: she's having a day, but like, how do I support her?
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Lauren is really respectful of my sensitivity,
- 28:36Speaker 1: and like I think when you spend so much time
- 28:38Speaker 1: on the internet, you like I've never had to explain
- 28:42Speaker 1: it to Lauren, like how my feelings can get her
- 28:45Speaker 1: or I can be really affected by things that I
- 28:48Speaker 1: people say about me online, or like I never had
- 28:51Speaker 1: to explain that to her, and I think that's something
- 28:52Speaker 1: that I.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Really really value. She always got.
- 28:55Speaker 1: It, like if something was going wrong or if like whatever,
- 28:58Speaker 1: She always like understood how much that affected me, And
- 29:02Speaker 1: that's like a really important thing to me, and I
- 29:04Speaker 1: really value that totally.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Well, I lived through it with you.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, she's lived through it. Yeah she's we've lived
- 29:12Speaker 1: through at all.
- 29:13Speaker 2: What do you think makes you so good with having
- 29:16Speaker 2: social cues because that's sort of a big miss with
- 29:18Speaker 2: assistant sometimes, like some assistants would walk in and be like, oh, hey,
- 29:22Speaker 2: good morning, like they wouldn't be able to read that
- 29:24Speaker 2: you're not, you know, your normal peppy self.
- 29:26Speaker 4: But what do you think how do you think you
- 29:28Speaker 4: learned that stuff? Did you grow up babysitting?
- 29:31Speaker 3: I did?
- 29:31Speaker 5: I mean probably just my parents. Honestly, I'm an only child,
- 29:35Speaker 5: so like I just don't get that at Oh thank you,
- 29:39Speaker 5: But I think I just would do everything with my
- 29:40Speaker 5: parents instead of like staying home with like siblings. I
- 29:43Speaker 5: would just like they would just bring me around to
- 29:45Speaker 5: any like adult thing, Like I would just go to
- 29:47Speaker 5: like adult dinners with them or anything. So I think
- 29:50Speaker 5: that's just how I grew up. I don't know that
- 29:55Speaker 5: was anything else that's.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Like the most shocking, Like I one thing, I'm only child, everybody,
- 30:01Speaker 1: and I'm like no, I literally have a brother and
- 30:03Speaker 1: everyone thinks Lauren has like a huge like family that
- 30:07Speaker 1: have made her so normal and nice and like easy going.
- 30:10Speaker 3: It's ridiculous.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Yeah, both of you are normal and lovely in our
- 30:14Speaker 4: own way.
- 30:17Speaker 2: So when you realize that your boss is maybe not
- 30:19Speaker 2: herself or having a down day, how do you, as
- 30:22Speaker 2: her assistant, really show up to support her.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Yeah. I feel like you're always pretty sometimes I can
- 30:30Speaker 5: just tell, but you're also like pretty honest. Like you'll
- 30:32Speaker 5: text me in the morning and being like I'm having
- 30:34Speaker 5: a tough day or whatever. But I like the calendar
- 30:38Speaker 5: management is like the main thing for you, and so
- 30:41Speaker 5: we'll like clear the schedule if we need to cancel things,
- 30:47Speaker 5: just be like, oh, you want to book a massage
- 30:49Speaker 5: or something.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Yeah, No, Lauren's good because she's also she's really kind
- 30:56Speaker 1: about that stuff. And if I'm like I'm really having
- 30:57Speaker 1: a melt down, like please cancel this meeting, She'll do it.
- 31:00Speaker 1: But she also sometimes I'm just being like bratty and
- 31:02Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, like I don't want to do this,
- 31:04Speaker 1: and she's.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Like, Okay, well we have to, And like that's really
- 31:07Speaker 3: helpful too.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Like she's very like matter of fact with me, and
- 31:10Speaker 1: like she doesn't like put up with my shit, which
- 31:13Speaker 1: is like also so important because otherwise I would literally
- 31:15Speaker 1: get nothing done.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 5: I'll also like call her managers like and not tell
- 31:19Speaker 5: you I'm doing this and yeah, listen, it's just not
- 31:21Speaker 5: going to get done today she's having a bad day,
- 31:23Speaker 5: Like can we please push this and just not make
- 31:24Speaker 5: a big deal of it, And like, I think that's
- 31:27Speaker 5: things I try to do that you're like not aware of, maybe,
- 31:30Speaker 5: but that's important.
- 31:31Speaker 2: I think that's super important to feel comfortable to go
- 31:34Speaker 2: to the greater team and just be like, listen without
- 31:35Speaker 2: giving you guys.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Any information, not gonna happen.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Yeah, if it's super urgent, we need to wait a
- 31:41Speaker 2: day to like figure it out on your end.
- 31:42Speaker 1: But yeah, another great thing that she does this is
- 31:46Speaker 1: just related is like now or in the past year,
- 31:49Speaker 1: when she's been like leveling up so much, if there's
- 31:52Speaker 1: like a call, like I literally hate meetings and I
- 31:55Speaker 1: hate calls, Like I literally think everything can be a text.
- 31:57Speaker 3: I like, I can't I spiral when I have a.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Meeting, stupid and like it hates So Lauren will do
- 32:03Speaker 1: it and she'll be like even if the person is like, oh,
- 32:05Speaker 1: I want to talk to Tanks. She'll be like, Okay,
- 32:07Speaker 1: well I'll call you first, because like I can bet
- 32:09Speaker 1: that that I can like distill this information in like
- 32:11Speaker 1: one second.
- 32:12Speaker 3: And like that kind of stuff spins me out. I'm
- 32:15Speaker 3: sound like literally psychotic brat, but.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Lauren will just do it and then she'll be like Okay,
- 32:20Speaker 1: they want to do this and this is this possible?
- 32:22Speaker 1: And then it's like, wow, you just completely took that
- 32:24Speaker 1: dumb half hour zoom off of my calendar and I'm
- 32:27Speaker 1: in a better mood because of it, and it took
- 32:28Speaker 1: you two seconds to do.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Yeah, they only want to talk to me for one
- 32:32Speaker 5: minute anyway, It's like it's easy, it's quick.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Do people ever get annoyed that it's not Tanks coming
- 32:37Speaker 2: on the phone and it's you, So like how do
- 32:39Speaker 2: you manage that?
- 32:40Speaker 4: If they're extra pushy and they're like, no, no, we have
- 32:42Speaker 4: to schedule.
- 32:43Speaker 5: This, I think I'm just like she's not available, Like sorry,
- 32:47Speaker 5: she hadn't got slammed and couldn't make it today, but
- 32:49Speaker 5: I'm going to cover for her and relay everything to
- 32:53Speaker 5: her and we'll like follow back up and like yeah,
- 32:54Speaker 5: it's usually like I imagine they get that a lot too, yeah,
- 32:58Speaker 5: I did that with someone with.
- 33:00Speaker 2: My old assistant who's now a corner at Clyde and
- 33:03Speaker 2: this client who I literally just told this story, this
- 33:05Speaker 2: client who wasn't important and I didn't even know what
- 33:08Speaker 2: she did email being like someone referred to you, can
- 33:11Speaker 2: you hop on? And I was traveling actually up to
- 33:13Speaker 2: San Francisco to meet you, and I didn't. I could
- 33:16Speaker 2: not hop on the phone. So I said, Grace from
- 33:17Speaker 2: my team will take the call. And they googled Grace
- 33:21Speaker 2: and found out that she had graduated two years ago
- 33:24Speaker 2: and referenced that, and they said, sorry, we're not going
- 33:26Speaker 2: to speak to a twenty three year old, and she
- 33:29Speaker 2: was so rude, wrote me.
- 33:30Speaker 4: A scathing email, and then I was like.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, but we will not be working with
- 33:34Speaker 2: you because if you don't want to do business with
- 33:36Speaker 2: someone like that anyway, Also if I'm sending you someone
- 33:39Speaker 2: who I trust, who's been with Grace has also been
- 33:41Speaker 2: with me since the beginning.
- 33:42Speaker 4: She was my old assistant. Now she's in the company.
- 33:45Speaker 2: But it's like that puts such a bad taste in
- 33:47Speaker 2: my mouth because clearly, you represent tanks so well and
- 33:50Speaker 2: you're more than capable. You've been with her since the beginning,
- 33:53Speaker 2: so you can take a call and you can take
- 33:55Speaker 2: notes and relay something and that just felt really good.
- 33:58Speaker 3: That feels so l Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think also how people treat assistants like
- 34:04Speaker 1: is also so telling, because assistants are the window to
- 34:08Speaker 1: the person, like they control everything, like they're so powerful.
- 34:11Speaker 3: So people are like dismissive.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I'm like, well, she's the boss, so you fucked up,
- 34:15Speaker 1: because yeah, it's like that that's this is the window
- 34:19Speaker 1: to everything, Like, this is how we're actually get stuff done.
- 34:21Speaker 1: So it's like, if you dismiss someone who works for me,
- 34:24Speaker 1: then I'm like going to dismiss you, because totally it's
- 34:27Speaker 1: so rude.
- 34:28Speaker 2: And I think like, as you know, assistant jobs are
- 34:32Speaker 2: not just running around and doing errand you're producing her life.
- 34:35Speaker 5: You're literally her right hand woman.
- 34:38Speaker 4: It's a big title.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 34:41Speaker 4: What are your what are your favorite parts of the job.
- 34:44Speaker 5: My favorite part of the job is that every day
- 34:47Speaker 5: is different and that you never know what's going to
- 34:50Speaker 5: come your way, and so we'll get like an email
- 34:51Speaker 5: one day and be like, oh, you have to fly
- 34:53Speaker 5: here the next day, you have to do this, and
- 34:55Speaker 5: like sometimes they can be like so overwhelming at first,
- 34:58Speaker 5: but I feel like it's been such a good experience
- 35:01Speaker 5: for me to be like put compartmentalize everything, and I
- 35:06Speaker 5: don't know, it just keeps things.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you never freak out.
- 35:09Speaker 1: You're even like the the only time you freaked out
- 35:12Speaker 1: is when you had.
- 35:13Speaker 3: To lace up that corset. Like that really stressed you out.
- 35:16Speaker 5: Okay, those my least favorite part of the job. Or
- 35:19Speaker 5: like those little trivial things like that. It's so so funny.
- 35:22Speaker 5: I get so overwhelmed by things like that.
- 35:24Speaker 1: She she literally would like, never freak out, Like I'll
- 35:26Speaker 1: be like, I'm literally Miranda Priestley's okay. For example, I
- 35:30Speaker 1: have another good story. So I was in sant Bart's
- 35:32Speaker 1: over over. You know, we were there and the.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Flow of the flights were canceled and it was literally like.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, how did you manage that day? I
- 35:40Speaker 4: felt so bad. I was texting you being like are
- 35:42Speaker 4: you okay?
- 35:42Speaker 1: I literally woke up it was like New Year's Day
- 35:45Speaker 1: or the day after, and I'm like and I'm like Lauren, like,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I literally was like Miranda Priestley, who's like when it's
- 35:50Speaker 1: the hurricane and She's like, what do you mean there's
- 35:52Speaker 1: no flights. I was like, Lauren, call everyone we know,
- 35:54Speaker 1: get a jet. I was like, book a jet, Lauren.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Book me a yacht.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Please just get me out of here. I'm having a
- 35:59Speaker 1: panic attack. Lauren is like on her own vacation. She's
- 36:02Speaker 1: like on Wi Fi with her computer. She's like, what's
- 36:03Speaker 1: going on?
- 36:04Speaker 3: What's going on. I was like, we can't get out.
- 36:05Speaker 3: We're trapped in save Barts. I'm gonna die here.
- 36:07Speaker 1: You have to get me out, like if we're freaking out,
- 36:09Speaker 1: But like that's not stuff that she freaks out on.
- 36:12Speaker 1: The only stuff times I've seen Lauren actually I have
- 36:14Speaker 1: my mental breakdown is I had a dress that had
- 36:17Speaker 1: four thousand hooks and she literally was like I've never
- 36:21Speaker 1: seen her spiral like this.
- 36:23Speaker 3: She was legit spiral and she.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Was like she's like I can't do it was like
- 36:26Speaker 1: a lace up thing and she was like I can't.
- 36:28Speaker 1: And I was like, oh my god, this is like
- 36:30Speaker 1: the thing that does you in Like that's so.
- 36:32Speaker 5: Random, so stressful, that's like so random.
- 36:34Speaker 1: But that's like that why we're our opposite personalities like
- 36:38Speaker 1: work well together, because like, yeah, I can't like book
- 36:41Speaker 1: book a flight, how do you even do that?
- 36:43Speaker 3: Like I'm an adult baby, like I can't do that.
- 36:45Speaker 3: But like that other stuff, I'm like, oh, who cares,
- 36:47Speaker 3: it doesn't matter.
- 36:48Speaker 5: I try to think of other little things. Yeah, it's
- 36:50Speaker 5: just like little things like that. I get flustered.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Yeah, there was one other one where you got flustered.
- 36:54Speaker 1: And it's like really tactical, like in the moment, like
- 36:57Speaker 1: stuff with outfits or like like stuff like that, or
- 37:00Speaker 1: like getting stock er, you know, I don't know, like.
- 37:02Speaker 5: Like driving, like oh, like when we're in LA and
- 37:05Speaker 5: I'm driving and we have to figure out parking or something,
- 37:08Speaker 5: I panic.
- 37:10Speaker 3: And that's just me. That's not like my job. That's
- 37:12Speaker 3: not the job.
- 37:13Speaker 5: That's just like that's my personal issues that have now become.
- 37:16Speaker 3: An issue in my job.
- 37:17Speaker 2: No, no, no, I kind of get that because as
- 37:20Speaker 2: an assistant, Like I used to drive my old boss,
- 37:23Speaker 2: not because it was my job, but because it was
- 37:25Speaker 2: more convenient. Yeah's just like okay, let's go, and it's
- 37:28Speaker 2: like this precious cargo and I'm like while I'm driving,
- 37:31Speaker 2: all I'm thinking about is like if I crash, I'm fucked.
- 37:35Speaker 5: Totally, you know. And I'll try to like look up
- 37:38Speaker 5: the map, like if we're going like a lot of
- 37:39Speaker 5: these like studios in la you know, they send you
- 37:41Speaker 5: like the parking, bread and everything, and it over complicates everything.
- 37:44Speaker 5: So I'll be like and I just know who I
- 37:46Speaker 5: am as a person, Like if I'm going to a
- 37:47Speaker 5: doctor's appointment, like I like get a little overwhelmed with
- 37:51Speaker 5: the parking and everything. That's just a personal thing. So
- 37:53Speaker 5: I'll like be studying this map being like I don't
- 37:55Speaker 5: want to like fuck up and like make things late
- 37:57Speaker 5: for this and like not that you ever would get
- 37:59Speaker 5: mad at anything for that, but like I just like.
- 38:01Speaker 2: You're always on time early, You're always early only because
- 38:04Speaker 2: of Lauren.
- 38:05Speaker 4: I'm always I'm like.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Like I'm so disorganized. No, it's so funny. It's so true.
- 38:11Speaker 1: And Lauren's a very like cautious driver, and like I'll
- 38:13Speaker 1: literally say three things. I'll be like, I'll be like
- 38:15Speaker 1: go faster, like because I drive Like I'm like, like,
- 38:19Speaker 1: do you want me.
- 38:19Speaker 5: To just drive?
- 38:21Speaker 1: I drive like I'm in the fast and furious like
- 38:22Speaker 1: and I don't That stuff doesn't overwhelm me at all.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I'm like I'll park on the fucking sidewalk, I'll parallel
- 38:27Speaker 1: park like I love that stuff, and I'm like whatever,
- 38:28Speaker 1: who cares. Or I'll just like literally leave my car
- 38:30Speaker 1: in the middle of the road. And that's the only
- 38:32Speaker 1: thing that that does.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Have you been in a car with tanks, It's scary, it's.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Scary, have I And I like it's like a lot
- 38:40Speaker 2: people say that they're scared to drive with me too.
- 38:43Speaker 4: My tour has called me a distracted driver.
- 38:45Speaker 1: I don't hear the worst. I'm like an aggressive driver.
- 38:48Speaker 1: I'm like, i have crazy road rage. I drive fast.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I'm very purposeful with my driving, so sometimes getting a
- 38:54Speaker 1: little distracted, sometimes a little distracted.
- 38:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but that that's Do.
- 38:58Speaker 4: You drive her in New York?
- 39:00Speaker 5: No, I've never driven in New York. I also don't
- 39:02Speaker 5: like always drive you around in LA It's just like
- 39:04Speaker 5: the times that I all.
- 39:05Speaker 2: That have to be patting emails, like and she has
- 39:07Speaker 2: a car or like that makes sense.
- 39:09Speaker 5: Her cars in the shop are like just there's there's
- 39:11Speaker 5: been lots of instance since where I have driven her.
- 39:14Speaker 3: That was the hardest.
- 39:15Speaker 1: One time I asked Lauren, I was like, what was
- 39:17Speaker 1: the worst time like in that you've ever worked? And
- 39:20Speaker 1: she was like, well, when you got canceled, Like I
- 39:21Speaker 1: was so sad for you, and like I was crying
- 39:23Speaker 1: for you. But then she was like, but the worst
- 39:24Speaker 1: time was actually when your car was totaled and you
- 39:27Speaker 1: didn't have a car, and someone in la like literally
- 39:31Speaker 1: totaled my car outside of my house like the up
- 39:33Speaker 1: a tree. But they like instead of giving me a
- 39:35Speaker 1: new car, they were like, we can repair it, but
- 39:37Speaker 1: it will take like two months.
- 39:38Speaker 3: And I was like okay, and I didn't like fuck
- 39:40Speaker 3: and I literally.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Like, I like was so I don't know why. It
- 39:45Speaker 1: was like coincided with the hard time in my life.
- 39:46Speaker 1: And I was literally a monster without a car. And
- 39:49Speaker 1: it was just like stressful for Lauren because she would
- 39:51Speaker 1: she would nicely drive me around in the day and
- 39:53Speaker 1: I'd be like, I have to do all my errands
- 39:55Speaker 1: while you're here, and like I tried to get a
- 39:56Speaker 1: rental car, and it was just like that was the
- 39:58Speaker 1: hardest time, you know, in the entire five years is
- 40:02Speaker 1: when I didn't have a car.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Like that's when I was freaking out.
- 40:05Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I think that if that's the stuff
- 40:07Speaker 2: that stresses.
- 40:08Speaker 3: You out, you're doing pretty good.
- 40:09Speaker 5: Yeah, you know. And that's the thing, it's always the
- 40:12Speaker 5: tiny little thing. Yeah, we're really insignificant. Yeah, ah, in all,
- 40:16Speaker 5: it's good.
- 40:16Speaker 4: That's hysterical.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Just wait till she has kids and you're asked to
- 40:19Speaker 2: drive around the kids, and then you're really going to
- 40:20Speaker 2: be like, oh my god, I cannot do this.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Well, I do have two cats, and like we truly
- 40:25Speaker 1: truly coparently, yeah, it's like they're like Lauren was there,
- 40:28Speaker 1: Lauren came to get VCHA with me from the house
- 40:31Speaker 1: we adopted from, like and then like we truly like
- 40:34Speaker 1: I don't think I could ever have an assistant who
- 40:36Speaker 1: wasn't an animal person of course, and like Lauren loves
- 40:39Speaker 1: the cats as much as I do, and like Vicha
- 40:41Speaker 1: actually likes Lauren more than me, and that's okay because
- 40:43Speaker 1: it's like we you know, we each have one who
- 40:45Speaker 1: likes us more. Yeah, and that is like such a
- 40:48Speaker 1: great part about our job as well, and like working
- 40:51Speaker 1: together as well is like I know in my heart
- 40:53Speaker 1: she loves them so much and we do anything for them.
- 40:55Speaker 1: And like true, not to be dark, but like Lauren
- 40:59Speaker 1: was visiting when the fires happened in la and there
- 41:02Speaker 1: was like like a half hour period where like the
- 41:06Speaker 1: cat the person watching the cats had like gone home
- 41:09Speaker 1: to get her animals, and like there it was there
- 41:13Speaker 1: was a fire starting around Runyon or like in the
- 41:15Speaker 1: Hollywood Hills, and like there was they were saying like, oh,
- 41:18Speaker 1: if it goes down, like it could go like this
- 41:20Speaker 1: and and are like the person watching our cats couldn't
- 41:23Speaker 1: come back, like they were trapped and like like it
- 41:26Speaker 1: was genuinely not to diminish like all of the horrors
- 41:29Speaker 1: that happened, but like in that moment, I was playing
- 41:32Speaker 1: it out like my cats are there and they're alone,
- 41:34Speaker 1: and like they're not going to get out if the
- 41:35Speaker 1: fire goes down the hill. And like Lauren was there
- 41:37Speaker 1: with me and we were both just like crying, and
- 41:39Speaker 1: like she was so calm in that situation, and she
- 41:41Speaker 1: was like calling everyone like figured out how to get
- 41:44Speaker 1: them out of my house, like and I just like
- 41:48Speaker 1: don't know what would have happened if we had been together,
- 41:50Speaker 1: And she was so calm in that situation, and it
- 41:52Speaker 1: was just like the darkest moment, and like she was
- 41:55Speaker 1: just like no, I'm going to fix this, like we
- 41:57Speaker 1: got this, Like they're getting out and like thank god
- 41:59Speaker 1: they were okay.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Wow. I mean I think in moments like that, when
- 42:02Speaker 2: it's stuff that's so personal to you, those are the
- 42:05Speaker 2: moments where you obviously proved yourself to.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Be like indispensable and like the way you handle things.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Really, I'm sure after that moment you were like, oh,
- 42:13Speaker 2: this girl is like I'm holding on to her, like
- 42:16Speaker 2: for dear life, like to have someone who can really
- 42:20Speaker 2: handle everything from like your cats to you know.
- 42:23Speaker 4: You're driving to your show, to all the other to
- 42:26Speaker 4: your brand deals.
- 42:27Speaker 5: Like yeah, you've seen.
- 42:28Speaker 2: It all, you do it all, but like the way
- 42:29Speaker 2: you handle yourself in all these situations is so universal.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's very cool.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Because you guys are so close, I guess is it
- 42:37Speaker 2: challenging sometimes, like to be that close working together.
- 42:41Speaker 5: Now that you've developed a friendship, I feel like we
- 42:44Speaker 5: have boundaries.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I think we figured it out, like I think we
- 42:50Speaker 1: you know, I think we've grown to be friends, and
- 42:53Speaker 1: I would I would never like, I think that's the
- 42:55Speaker 1: way to do it, right, is you want to grow
- 42:57Speaker 1: to be friends.
- 42:58Speaker 3: You don't want to start friends and then whatever, right.
- 43:00Speaker 1: And I think we've worked out a really good we
- 43:03Speaker 1: have our boundaries now, and it took them figuring out.
- 43:07Speaker 1: You know, Like when I when we first started, I
- 43:11Speaker 1: was felt so I mean, I wasn't young but I
- 43:14Speaker 1: feel that I was young now and I didn't know
- 43:16Speaker 1: how to manage anybody, and I didn't know what the
- 43:18Speaker 1: boundary should be. And it was also like a faster
- 43:22Speaker 1: paced time in my life where it was like it
- 43:24Speaker 1: truly did for the first like two and a half
- 43:26Speaker 1: years feel like entourage, Like especially with my management that
- 43:30Speaker 1: I had then, Like it felt like we were always
- 43:32Speaker 1: doing the craziest shit and we were.
- 43:33Speaker 3: It was just we were making so much money and
- 43:36Speaker 3: we were.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Having all these brand deals and having it just was
- 43:38Speaker 1: like a wild time and it was a really fast
- 43:41Speaker 1: paced couple of years. And you know, I think the
- 43:44Speaker 1: boundaries were more blurred in that time. And then you know,
- 43:47Speaker 1: we change, we evolved, we the business changed, and we
- 43:51Speaker 1: kind of you know, took on the show and we
- 43:53Speaker 1: wrote the books and we did all this stuff and
- 43:55Speaker 1: it it I don't know. I think I think we
- 43:58Speaker 1: figured it out along the way. It was just like
- 44:00Speaker 1: for a while, it was it was so crazy, Like
- 44:02Speaker 1: we used to like call it entourage because it was
- 44:05Speaker 1: just like so nuts, Like the things we would do
- 44:08Speaker 1: would get a call and say, oh, you need to
- 44:10Speaker 1: drive to the valley and filmed with these TikTokers Today
- 44:13Speaker 1: and we would show up at their house and it
- 44:14Speaker 1: was just like this wyandom shit and it was just like,
- 44:17Speaker 1: I don't even know what we did.
- 44:18Speaker 3: It's all a blur. It's all a fantastic, funny blur.
- 44:20Speaker 1: But I think during that time it was like we
- 44:23Speaker 1: had no boundaries and then we kind of figured it out.
- 44:26Speaker 5: Yeah, just like unspoken boundaries too. I was never like
- 44:29Speaker 5: a big sit down or anything. Oh, just like, yeah,
- 44:32Speaker 5: we just figured it out.
- 44:33Speaker 4: What do you think has changed the most about Tanks
- 44:35Speaker 4: since you started working with her? And then vice versa.
- 44:37Speaker 2: What do you think has changed the most about Laurence
- 44:39Speaker 2: since you start working question for me?
- 44:41Speaker 5: For you, like you kind of were just saying this,
- 44:44Speaker 5: but like you just now see yourself and your company
- 44:49Speaker 5: as a business and you run it that way, you
- 44:51Speaker 5: carry yourself that way, And like when I first started
- 44:54Speaker 5: working for you, you were very much in your like funky,
- 44:57Speaker 5: fun like influencer mode and you would be like you
- 45:01Speaker 5: still like love to party and you'll be hungover whatever,
- 45:03Speaker 5: make a joke about it, and you're like still really
- 45:05Speaker 5: lighthearted in that sense, but like you wouldn't like show
- 45:08Speaker 5: up to a meeting and be like make a joke
- 45:10Speaker 5: about that anymore. You carry yourself very professionally and you
- 45:14Speaker 5: care a lot about your business, and you're like fully
- 45:16Speaker 5: running your business. You're not just letting your like team
- 45:18Speaker 5: run your business for you. You're running like you run
- 45:22Speaker 5: every meeting. We'd hop on like Tanks is the first
- 45:25Speaker 5: to like start this meeting, and that wasn't always like that,
- 45:28Speaker 5: Like you're just really.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I don't know, a more businesswoman now. Yeah, us, I know,
- 45:33Speaker 1: I think we both just grew up. I would say
- 45:35Speaker 1: for Lauren, she just takes the initiative. Like I think
- 45:38Speaker 1: she's just become more professional. She's always a hard worker,
- 45:42Speaker 1: but I think now she's just like so goal oriented
- 45:45Speaker 1: and like she's got her eyes on the prize and
- 45:47Speaker 1: she's just like very very self starty and just like
- 45:50Speaker 1: completely takes the initiative. And yeah, I mean in a
- 45:54Speaker 1: way it's like similar. I think we've both just gotten
- 45:56Speaker 1: more professional. We've both grown up and like the business
- 45:59Speaker 1: has changed. There was a time when we would literally
- 46:03Speaker 1: our day would be like we would both be in
- 46:05Speaker 1: like workout sets and we would go to Craigs and
- 46:08Speaker 1: we would make an ice cream Sunday like that was
- 46:10Speaker 1: our day, you know, and we would film it and
- 46:12Speaker 1: we were doing tiktoks all day, like that was the
- 46:14Speaker 1: whole shtick for a while. And now it's like this
- 46:18Speaker 1: crazy like multi arm thing, which is so amazing, and like,
- 46:22Speaker 1: I love every iteration of the business we've grown. But
- 46:25Speaker 1: when I think back to those early days, it was
- 46:27Speaker 1: just like it was wild.
- 46:29Speaker 3: It was so wild.
- 46:29Speaker 1: It would be like, oh, you guys need to be
- 46:31Speaker 1: in Malibu to like film with this brand, and we
- 46:33Speaker 1: just drive there and then we I don't know, it
- 46:35Speaker 1: was fun and it was wild and it was crazy.
- 46:37Speaker 3: And now and now we're like business women.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Yeah, a little more structure.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Now, a little bit more structure.
- 46:44Speaker 4: I mean, your empire just keeps on growing and growing.
- 46:47Speaker 2: So it must be cool to have been there from
- 46:49Speaker 2: the beginning and just watching all the you know, yeah, all.
- 46:52Speaker 1: The change, but we still keep the goofiness. I think
- 46:55Speaker 1: that's another thing that I really value, is like, like
- 46:58Speaker 1: I need levity and I need people who are like
- 47:01Speaker 1: down for the bit. And Lauren has always been like that,
- 47:04Speaker 1: and I think she knows, like without me asking her
- 47:07Speaker 1: like or telling her that I really value that stuff
- 47:10Speaker 1: because it makes you know sometimes like like okay, this week,
- 47:14Speaker 1: she she she scheduled like sig zooms and she was like,
- 47:16Speaker 1: you're gonna hate me.
- 47:17Speaker 3: I put six zooms because you didn't do any last week.
- 47:20Speaker 3: And I said okay.
- 47:20Speaker 1: But then like she was joking with me about my
- 47:23Speaker 1: coffee machine and like Christina's cafe and like she will
- 47:26Speaker 1: fully commit to the bit and like that really I
- 47:28Speaker 1: know it sounds stupid, but like that really fuels me
- 47:32Speaker 1: when I have to do like six zooms, like to
- 47:34Speaker 1: have a gag and to have a joke.
- 47:35Speaker 4: Right, we gotta, yeah, you gotta.
- 47:37Speaker 3: You gotta keeps be too serious. No no, no, no, we're not.
- 47:40Speaker 1: We're not hard surgeons. So I like that too, and
- 47:43Speaker 1: we have so many we laugh a lot.
- 47:45Speaker 5: That's like how our text will go. It'll be like
- 47:48Speaker 5: a work thing and I'll be like, well it will
- 47:49Speaker 5: be more serious and then it'll be like a joke
- 47:51Speaker 5: or like sending a stupid TikTok or like or Tinks
- 47:54Speaker 5: will just send me a photo of mis like I'll
- 47:56Speaker 5: be like can you do this, like you need to
- 47:57Speaker 5: do this for the brand. I'll just get like a
- 47:59Speaker 5: picture of me so I'm like yeah, cute, yeah yeah,
- 48:03Speaker 5: or like yeah that's so true.
- 48:04Speaker 4: Like I'm not responding to this. But here's because no, and.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Lauren will say that Laura goes when takes us a
- 48:09Speaker 1: respond it's not because she can't hear you.
- 48:11Speaker 3: She just doesn't water.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Yeah, besides laughing and you know, being light throughout the day,
- 48:22Speaker 2: which can often be very serious. How or what do
- 48:25Speaker 2: you think is the key to a long lasting relationship.
- 48:28Speaker 1: I think we can always be I mean, Lauren knows this,
- 48:33Speaker 1: and like, I'm not good at managing people and I'm
- 48:35Speaker 1: not good at having difficult conversations, but I do we
- 48:38Speaker 1: do do them sometimes because that's you.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Sometimes you have to. Sometimes you can't have a gag.
- 48:43Speaker 3: Sometimes you have to.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Like but remember in our recent conversation, like I was
- 48:47Speaker 1: even still making jokes because like I have to.
- 48:49Speaker 3: I can't ever have like a fully serious conversation.
- 48:52Speaker 5: You were like laying down on the couch and you're like, okay, like.
- 48:56Speaker 1: I'm in therapist, Like I'm literally our gear check in
- 48:58Speaker 1: and I was like, I was like, okay, welcome to
- 49:00Speaker 1: our office. Like but no, I think I think communication
- 49:04Speaker 1: and I think I do think boundaries like like have
- 49:08Speaker 1: really helped us. Honestly, I think it it occurred naturally,
- 49:13Speaker 1: But I don't think we could have kept going the
- 49:14Speaker 1: way we were going.
- 49:15Speaker 3: We were going out together.
- 49:17Speaker 1: I mean, I think this is interesting and like we
- 49:18Speaker 1: can share this because it is it is relevant to
- 49:21Speaker 1: like the assistant job. It's like we would we were
- 49:23Speaker 1: traveling a lot at the time, and we would also
- 49:25Speaker 1: just go out together all the time. And like, I
- 49:27Speaker 1: think it's hard when you're when you're like your entire
- 49:31Speaker 1: life and work blend. And I don't think that's good
- 49:34Speaker 1: for me or Lauren, like and I wanted. I think
- 49:37Speaker 1: it was good that we had that we eventually grew
- 49:40Speaker 1: out of that because it was like we were all
- 49:42Speaker 1: hanging out with my wider team twenty four to seven.
- 49:45Speaker 1: And I do think that that can sometimes be a
- 49:48Speaker 1: recipe of or a disaster. Luckily with us it wasn't.
- 49:51Speaker 1: But I could see, you know, if we didn't grow
- 49:53Speaker 1: out of.
- 49:54Speaker 3: It, that that would be kind of a problem.
- 49:55Speaker 1: And now, like, look, once in a while, we'll have
- 49:57Speaker 1: a drink together, if we're at a work party, we'll
- 49:59Speaker 1: you know, go out and whatever. But I think that
- 50:02Speaker 1: having separation and having you know, a difference, like is
- 50:05Speaker 1: actually really crucial. But like when we first started working together,
- 50:10Speaker 1: it's so fun to have someone who you do everything with,
- 50:13Speaker 1: and it's like, like what I was saying at the beginning,
- 50:15Speaker 1: it's so fun to have someone who knows everything about you.
- 50:17Speaker 1: You're like, of course I want to party with you too.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Of course we should meld our friends groups like whatever
- 50:21Speaker 1: like that, But like, I don't think that that can
- 50:24Speaker 1: last forever. I think I agree, so that that's that's
- 50:27Speaker 1: kind of yeah, That's why.
- 50:28Speaker 2: I think finding that balance, especially when you're let's say
- 50:30Speaker 2: you're at Paris Fashion Week. Of course you're gonna go
- 50:32Speaker 2: out to dinner and have a lot of time with
- 50:34Speaker 2: each other, but it's actually way healthier to come back
- 50:37Speaker 2: to New York and like be separate totally but also
- 50:39Speaker 2: occasionally like mix it in.
- 50:41Speaker 4: But I think that's actually why a lot of.
- 50:43Speaker 2: These assistant boss relationships end up failing, because it's either
- 50:47Speaker 2: like the boss thinks to themselves, oh I feel weird
- 50:50Speaker 2: asking you to go get me a coffee now, or.
- 50:52Speaker 4: Print out these You just get too close.
- 50:55Speaker 2: And I think it's amazing when people when assistant come
- 51:00Speaker 2: in and they have full lives and they have their
- 51:02Speaker 2: friends and they have things that.
- 51:03Speaker 4: They can look forward to. When my team's over and it's.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Five o'clock, Like, guys, get out of here, Like, yeah,
- 51:07Speaker 2: we're not saving the world here. I know you're working,
- 51:10Speaker 2: but I don't want to. I don't want you at
- 51:12Speaker 2: my house on a Friday. And I know that you
- 51:14Speaker 2: have friends, so go hang out with that.
- 51:16Speaker 4: You know, it's just better in the long run. I agree, Yeah,
- 51:18Speaker 4: but it's nice to sprinkle it in.
- 51:20Speaker 3: I mean, of course, yeah we did.
- 51:22Speaker 4: Like how lucky are you guys that you can do that?
- 51:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's great. No, it's it's a good mix.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Now. Yeah, okay, I have some questions that both of
- 51:29Speaker 2: you can respond to.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Big brand partnership or small brand you love.
- 51:33Speaker 1: I think we've had some, you know, I think we've
- 51:36Speaker 1: done both that we love. Like, I think the one
- 51:40Speaker 1: that I'm most proud of is probably Tabasco. Like when
- 51:43Speaker 1: I think a big brand partnership, like that's was literally
- 51:45Speaker 1: my dream, Like my dream come true?
- 51:48Speaker 2: How did that even come to surface? How do you
- 51:50Speaker 2: manifest having your favorite brand getting a partnership with Well.
- 51:55Speaker 1: I always used to say that I have hot sauce dressing,
- 51:58Speaker 1: Like I would use hot sauces dressing.
- 52:00Speaker 5: Yeah, and.
- 52:03Speaker 1: My old manager, it was his idea. I'll give him
- 52:05Speaker 1: the credit. He was like, we should do a hot
- 52:07Speaker 1: sauce dressing. You always you put hot sauce on your salad,
- 52:10Speaker 1: which is weird. We should make a hot sauce dressing.
- 52:12Speaker 1: And I was like, that's yeah, we should one hundred
- 52:15Speaker 1: percent do that. And I mean my entire team worked
- 52:20Speaker 1: on that, and you know, my agency was incredible. They cout,
- 52:23Speaker 1: you know, one of my agents really quarterback this deal,
- 52:26Speaker 1: and I was just like, I'm so proud of that partnership.
- 52:30Speaker 1: And it was so fun, Like we got to go
- 52:31Speaker 1: to Louisiana and we got to like see how it.
- 52:33Speaker 4: Was made shared best situation.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Yeah, we shared, but it was like, I mean it
- 52:39Speaker 1: was so cool because they've they've always made Tabasco to
- 52:42Speaker 1: Avery Island and like we got to meet the actual Tabasco.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Family and it was just like that. So that's like
- 52:47Speaker 3: a big partnership.
- 52:48Speaker 1: And then I'm trying to think of like a little
- 52:49Speaker 1: one that's like that's like fun that we've done, that's
- 52:53Speaker 1: like kind of off the cuff.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Like.
- 52:57Speaker 3: I mean doing the lube.
- 52:58Speaker 1: I mean, Saint Jane is obviously like a well known brand,
- 53:02Speaker 1: but it was like kind of a smaller partnership because
- 53:04Speaker 1: it was just like this small thing and.
- 53:06Speaker 3: We was, you know, kind of an interesting one. They're
- 53:09Speaker 3: all good. It's fun to have a mix.
- 53:11Speaker 1: It's fun to just do like, you know, if you're
- 53:14Speaker 1: lucky enough to work on the brands, work with the
- 53:16Speaker 1: brands you care about, on the products you care about,
- 53:18Speaker 1: that's the best.
- 53:19Speaker 5: Yeah. And I think that's the thing about Tanks is
- 53:21Speaker 5: like all the brands that she works with, they're all
- 53:23Speaker 5: like organic brands, like there are people, there are brands
- 53:26Speaker 5: that she's already posting about or using anyway. So it
- 53:29Speaker 5: doesn't really make a difference if it's like short term
- 53:31Speaker 5: or long term. Obviously long term is amazing, But like Ita,
- 53:34Speaker 5: it's kind of the same level of like authenticity between
- 53:38Speaker 5: the two.
- 53:38Speaker 4: Very cool. Hire a team early or stay scrappy longer.
- 53:44Speaker 3: I'd say hire a team. I like advice, like I
- 53:48Speaker 3: rely on people.
- 53:49Speaker 1: I really don't like negotiating, like I really don't like
- 53:53Speaker 1: doing what I don't like, And I think for me
- 53:55Speaker 1: that's what's best. I think it depends on your personality.
- 53:59Speaker 3: But I like to be staffed up.
- 54:01Speaker 4: I'm with you.
- 54:01Speaker 2: I think if you have the resources to do it,
- 54:03Speaker 2: why not, Because you only get really one shot to
- 54:06Speaker 2: build your company and build your brand from the window
- 54:10Speaker 2: that you're given and one opportunity to like really nail down. Okay,
- 54:14Speaker 2: I want to be organized. I don't want to to
- 54:17Speaker 2: have people who are smarter than you in those areas.
- 54:19Speaker 2: I completely agree. Yeah, hire for your weaknesses, totally rebrand
- 54:25Speaker 2: or double down on what works.
- 54:27Speaker 5: How did you actually so equally important?
- 54:29Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 54:29Speaker 2: How did you shift from just doing like regular influencer
- 54:33Speaker 2: stuff to radio and what you're doing now?
- 54:35Speaker 4: I guess kind of ties in.
- 54:37Speaker 3: I mean, once I realized like, oh I can actually.
- 54:41Speaker 4: Use this and by the way, both of course.
- 54:43Speaker 1: But yeah, I was like I was like, oh, I'm
- 54:45Speaker 1: going to try to do everything that I want to do,
- 54:47Speaker 1: like based off of this moment.
- 54:50Speaker 3: But I think it's okay to like, I think it's
- 54:52Speaker 3: okay to rebrand. I think it's okay. Like I'll give
- 54:54Speaker 3: you an.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Example with our show, like we I did interviews for
- 54:59Speaker 1: a year.
- 55:00Speaker 3: I'd called it office hours.
- 55:02Speaker 1: It wasn't right for me at this time, like I
- 55:04Speaker 1: was it was a really heavy lift. Like I think
- 55:07Speaker 1: interviewing people is way harder than people think. And I'm
- 55:11Speaker 1: not at a point in my career where I can
- 55:15Speaker 1: a have the time to like research people and do
- 55:18Speaker 1: the give the questions that I want and be like,
- 55:21Speaker 1: I don't know, I think I'm not confident.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Enough or I don't know.
- 55:26Speaker 1: I'm I just feel like maybe in ten years I'll
- 55:28Speaker 1: do that, but right now I'm growing the show. My
- 55:31Speaker 1: passion is radio, and we were like, okay, yeah, well
- 55:35Speaker 1: we're gonna pivot. We're gonna do more radio instead. And
- 55:37Speaker 1: it was the best decision.
- 55:39Speaker 3: So I think it's okay to be like, oh no,
- 55:41Speaker 3: that that actually didn't work.
- 55:42Speaker 5: It's okay, totally right. And in a way, radio is
- 55:44Speaker 5: still double downing on what you do, like you're getting AMA.
- 55:47Speaker 5: That's where it all started, so like people writing in
- 55:50Speaker 5: AMA questions and then it just turned into radio and radios, Yeah,
- 55:54Speaker 5: constantly evolving and changing, but it still is a form
- 55:57Speaker 5: of what you originally.
- 56:00Speaker 2: It's such like a natural pivot for you because you
- 56:02Speaker 2: literally do that on your social media.
- 56:04Speaker 4: Platforms and then you're like, I'm gonna just take this
- 56:05Speaker 4: into a show.
- 56:06Speaker 1: I've done AM, Monday and Thursday every single week since
- 56:11Speaker 1: I started influencing Wow, And I just I don't know
- 56:14Speaker 1: why what made me do that, But I was like
- 56:16Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I'm going to interact with these people, like,
- 56:18Speaker 1: I think this is so interesting to talk to them,
- 56:20Speaker 1: and then Lauren's right, that's how it evolved into the radio.
- 56:22Speaker 4: It's such hard work.
- 56:23Speaker 2: I mean I just started doing that on the client
- 56:25Speaker 2: account because yeah, what some feedback I got from people
- 56:28Speaker 2: was you need to engage.
- 56:29Speaker 4: More with yeah, with your followers.
- 56:31Speaker 2: I'm like, I am so passionate about doing this, but
- 56:33Speaker 2: it's so not my personality too, you.
- 56:35Speaker 4: Know me, Like, it's not.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Not my versonality, but I want to offer that same
- 56:40Speaker 2: mentorship about career stuff jobs.
- 56:42Speaker 4: So I'm trying to get more comfortable.
- 56:44Speaker 2: You know.
- 56:45Speaker 3: That's good. No, it's a good idea. I think that's
- 56:47Speaker 3: I think you should do that.
- 56:48Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll see. But yeah, it's I respect you so much.
- 56:51Speaker 2: I mean obviously you know that, but so much more
- 56:55Speaker 2: like because I know how much work it is.
- 56:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's rewarding, but it's yeah.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, this, I guess we kind of touched on
- 57:04Speaker 2: this work with friends or strictly professional.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Grow grow into friends, Yeah, you know, hybrid. I would
- 57:11Speaker 3: like never this has.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Randomly becoming up up a lot on AM lately, but like,
- 57:16Speaker 1: I would never work with a friend like oh. We
- 57:18Speaker 1: had a question on AM and they were like, oh, like,
- 57:21Speaker 1: my friend's a realtor and I don't want to use her.
- 57:23Speaker 1: And I was like, that's I would never use my
- 57:25Speaker 1: friend for a job like that because it would stress
- 57:27Speaker 1: me out so much if something goes wrong or you
- 57:30Speaker 1: don't you don't, you know, you're not you can't give
- 57:32Speaker 1: them feedback, like it's so difficult.
- 57:33Speaker 3: So I think grow to be friends with the people
- 57:36Speaker 3: that you work with.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Absolutely, you go in as a friendly professional, not a
- 57:41Speaker 2: professional friend.
- 57:42Speaker 4: That's what I always say.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Oh I like yeah, yeah, well side, I.
- 57:45Speaker 2: Like that, thank you, clap back or stay silent, which
- 57:51Speaker 2: I guess is kind of relevant and stuff happening now
- 57:53Speaker 2: with people online, but.
- 57:57Speaker 3: You know, it is best to stay silent.
- 58:00Speaker 1: And I have had some absolutely wild conversations in the
- 58:05Speaker 1: DM with people.
- 58:06Speaker 3: Sometimes it will just hit me.
- 58:08Speaker 1: I mean, lately I've been really way better, but I've
- 58:11Speaker 1: had some absolutely diabolical conversation because sometimes someone says something
- 58:15Speaker 1: and you're just like, I'm not going to let you
- 58:17Speaker 1: speak to me like that, and I'll fire off.
- 58:19Speaker 3: I've never had a satisfying one though. That's what I.
- 58:22Speaker 1: Always tell myself is like I literally have never had
- 58:26Speaker 1: a satisfying like clap back or like screaming at someone
- 58:29Speaker 1: in the DM like you have to learn to like
- 58:33Speaker 1: Or my friend who's also an influencer, she's like, I
- 58:37Speaker 1: was like calling her an event one time and she
- 58:39Speaker 1: was like, she was like, do you think that Beyonce
- 58:41Speaker 1: like reads her reviews? She's like, do you think that
- 58:44Speaker 1: Beyonce like listens to what the She's like? Do you
- 58:46Speaker 1: think Beyonce would like get out of her mansion and
- 58:49Speaker 1: like argue with someone who said something. Next, she was like, no,
- 58:51Speaker 1: you have to think like Beyonce. You have to think
- 58:53Speaker 1: like I am so above this.
- 58:56Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 58:56Speaker 1: It doesn't even like hit me. So I have been
- 58:59Speaker 1: bad better in the past year. I would say staying
- 59:03Speaker 1: silent is better. You never It's never what you think
- 59:06Speaker 1: it's going to be.
- 59:07Speaker 2: It's cooler to be silent, it's cooler if you respond,
- 59:10Speaker 2: you're just feeding into these people and giving them what
- 59:12Speaker 2: they want. Yeah. I will say I did clap back
- 59:18Speaker 2: at someone once from Tate's account.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Oh that's good.
- 59:21Speaker 2: One account posted something about jen and I actually clapped
- 59:25Speaker 2: back at them on Tate's account because.
- 59:27Speaker 5: I was hiding behind the account.
- 59:29Speaker 2: But it was such a mean thing, and I was
- 59:31Speaker 2: so defensive and I just shot back at them. I
- 59:33Speaker 2: was like, you have to delete this, like blah blah blah,
- 59:36Speaker 2: and then they deleted it. There's a time and place
- 59:39Speaker 2: for it, yes, but I feel like I would never
- 59:42Speaker 2: do it for my own like, yeah.
- 59:43Speaker 5: I'm just And it also wasn't defending yourself. It was
- 59:46Speaker 5: for someone else that you were feeling.
- 59:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like the one time I clapped back
- 59:50Speaker 2: from my French Bulldogs account.
- 59:51Speaker 1: Yeah, my friend Adam will sometimes like if someone says
- 59:54Speaker 1: something you mean about me, he'll he'll like fight back
- 59:56Speaker 1: in the TikTok of makes.
- 59:57Speaker 5: Sense, Like I can see him doing that, yeah friend
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: for this protective.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Yeah, brand deal or organic posts that goes viral.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I mean, I know, I know I sound crazy, but
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: like influencing in its purest form is like the best
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: feeling in the world. Like obviously it's great to make money,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: like I love brand deals, but when I like think
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: back to my first viral videos of influencing, I didn't
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: make a cent off of any of them.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I just it was it was like God himself is
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: beaming through me.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like a foot soldier of capitalism like I
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: and I know that, but I'm just my mom always
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: said when I was little, she was like, you should
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: be on QBC and I was like, that is what
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: an influencer is today, and like I I have no
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: shame in being an influencer.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: I fucking love influencing people to do stuff.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: You're also very.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Good at it, thank you, and very good at it,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: like when I financial like, I'll give you an example.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I was at a wedding last year in Italy and
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: I found this steamer in the hotel, best fucking steamer
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: I've ever used in my life. And I made this
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: video and I was like, guys, I need to tell
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: you about this steamer.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: And it was you know, obviously no brandy or whatever.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: That is like honestly like the best feeling for me
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: because I actually found a product that's going to improve
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: people's lives that I feel is so well made and
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: well designed, and it just it was the best feeling.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: So yeah, I still think your best video to date
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: is the Whipped Pajamas, the recent one.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: I actually texted her. I was like, this is your
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: best word.
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: I'm crying.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: It was thank you as my friends, funny as fun.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: Like your boss is funny, really.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: Passionate about your descriptions of things like the whipped.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: So many people sent me that too, being like that's
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: really funny.
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: I hope that you yeah good.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: I hope that brand sent you a million pairs of
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: whip pajamas.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: Honestly, no, they didn't, but that's okay.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Sometimes it's like like, again, obviously I love all my
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: brand deals, but.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Like sometimes it makes you.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: It changes it, you know what I mean, Like it
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: it changes the vibe. Or they'll be like, oh, we
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: saw you love this, let me send you some of this,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: and you're like, no, I don't like that thing. I
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: like the thing that I talked about, or like like
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the Hanes tank top was also a really like it
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: all in its purest form and it was just the best.
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: Epic And it's fun to see like all the girls
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: tag you, you know once, just like you were constantly
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: reposting girls like.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it was so taking photos in the yeah tank.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: I love to see like how they styled it, and
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: like I love I would like see girls all around
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: the city and they'd be wearing one and they'd be
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: like that and it was so fun.
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: And you ended up working with that. Yeah, it was
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: an ongoing bit for like a long really who summer
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: before before you got a brand deal and then we.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Did do a brand deal. That's my ideal situation.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: It must be the best feeling, an organic post that
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: brings the community together, that we can have like a
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: little bit about like me and the girls, and then
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: at the end there's a brand deal. And then all
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: the girls are so happy for me when I got
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: that brand deal because they were like, you've been talking
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: about Haynes tank tops all summer and like now you
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: get to work with them.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Like so that's the ideal.
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: So to close out, what piece of advice would you
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: give someone who is looking to follow in your footsteps
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: or become a Lauren?
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: I think first of all, you have to be really
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: passionate about what you want to do and work really
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: hard in your job and show up every single day.
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: And I think also you can't you have to like
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: leave your ego at the door for a lot of
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: it too, Like you can you have to be willing
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: to do some of the unglamorous jobs.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Yeah, well said yeah, no, ego coffee runs until you're
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: you know, much older. I still I will still grab
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: anyone coffee by the way, Like that is, if I'm driving,
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: I'm like, do you guys want anything?
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: Like, I think that's important.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: No, ego is really important.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Yeah, because even though Lauren's so past that, sometimes she
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: still does get coffee if.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: We're you know whatever, and it's like, yeah, well now
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: we have the cafe, it's different.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: Yeah, but I'll make the coffee.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: She's a trained Brasta at Christina's Cafe too, so.
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: Amazing and tinks.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: What advice would you give someone who's looking a young
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: college girl who or guy who's looking to become a
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: you and grow up in dominate the influencer space and
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: have a brand.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I think now more than ever, it's so important to
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: be a good storyteller. I think I think you know,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: because I was gonna say, oh, find something to be different,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: but like everything's the same.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: Now you walk out in the West Village, everybody's wearing
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: the same outfit.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: And that's not we don't need to place like good
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: and bad morality on that. But like, it's going to
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: be very hard for you to have like a unique
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: personal style unless you're like a fucking genius, because everybody's
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: wearing the same jeans, and T shirt. I would say storytelling,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Like you look at someone like Alex Earl, like why
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: did she break through? Because she's so captivating, even if
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: she's just doing her makeup and telling a story about
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: like going to a party, like how she started in college.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: She's a storyteller.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: And I think that that is actually in this next era,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: what's going to allow people to cut through, because I mean,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: everything is just so homogeneous now, all the fashion, all
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: the beauty, like you have to find something that's unique
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: and you have to be a captivating storyteller and don't
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: give up, just keep going to take years to pop off,
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: but it's okay.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Yes, I think that right there is something that people,
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: I hope realizes that if you're twenty two, you don't
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: need to rush into popping off or focus on popping
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: off in that moment. You have so many years to
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: figure it out and learn and make mistakes and try
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: different jobs.
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: I didn't know what I wanted to do until I
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: was thirty. I'm thirty three, Like I am much older.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Than all the kids who are graduating who are so stressed,
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: and there's no need to be so stressed, but just
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: work hard and meet people and do the coffee runs yeah.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: And storytell, work hard, it'd be nice to people. Is
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: the fact that old adage is so true, like just
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: do it.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you glad.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: This is so much al right, see you guys next time.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: M h m hmmm
