- 0:00Welcome back to Project Unwind. My name
- 0:02is James. I'm your host. Today we have a
- 0:03super cool guest, Allan. For the
- 0:06audience who don't know who you are, can
- 0:07you give us a bit of a background on
- 0:09what you do and what makes Allen Allen?
- 0:13>> Well, uh, nice to meet everybody. So, I
- 0:18am actually a quality director for a
- 0:21pharmaceutical manufacturer.
- 0:23So, spent a lot of time dealing with,
- 0:25you know, making making a lot of drugs.
- 0:29So, I guess you can say I'm a legal drug
- 0:31dealer,
- 0:33>> but yeah,
- 0:35that's what I do. I've got a got a, you
- 0:38know, wife and one daughter. Great
- 0:39family. Uh, lot going on. Love fish,
- 0:43hunt, golf. I get out there and do all
- 0:45the normal things that that guys like to
- 0:47do.
- 0:49>> Have you ever gone elk hunting?
- 0:52>> No. No, I haven't. But my former boss
- 0:56about three times a year he would take
- 0:58about a week vacation and go to the
- 1:00northern states and and do a lot of elk
- 1:03hunting. He absolutely loved it. But
- 1:06apparently it's really difficult to get
- 1:07licensing and uh to get a permit to be
- 1:11able to do that. So he he was lucky to
- 1:13be able to do a lot of it.
- 1:16>> Yeah, that's been on my list. I've moved
- 1:18to Colorado this year and I've never
- 1:21gone hunting, but I'm an Eagle Scout, so
- 1:23I love all that outdoorsy stuff, so I've
- 1:27>> wanted I know elk is pretty difficult,
- 1:30so I want to work my way up, but I want
- 1:31to eventually get there one point.
- 1:34>> Yeah. No, that the biggest I've ever
- 1:36gone is deer. Uh
- 1:38>> yeah,
- 1:38>> never had the the chance to go hunt
- 1:40something as impressive as an elk,
- 1:42though. But yeah, it's uh the boy scout
- 1:45or the the scouting would would come in
- 1:48come in handy because from what I
- 1:49understand, you get out and there's a
- 1:51lot of just staking and camping and
- 1:53waiting outside in the outdoors. So,
- 1:55>> I'm sure that would come in handy.
- 1:59>> What is a quantity director? Uh I'm
- 2:03Christian. A quality
- 2:05>> quality director. Yeah.
- 2:08>> So, yeah, basically I make sure that the
- 2:11drugs we make don't do what they're
- 2:13supposed to do and don't end up hurting
- 2:15people.
- 2:17>> Great. Well, that's super important,
- 2:19right?
- 2:20>> Yeah.
- 2:23>> Well, for everyone who hops on this
- 2:25podcast, they usually have like a mental
- 2:27health journey that got them to meeting
- 2:29us or seeing my face on all the
- 2:32Instagram and Facebook posts. So, where
- 2:34does your mental health journey kind of
- 2:36start?
- 2:38So,
- 2:40I I guess what got me looking for
- 2:43something was probably about six months
- 2:46ago. Um,
- 2:48>> I would uh and I don't know what caused
- 2:50the onset of this, but I I would lay
- 2:54down. I'd go to bed, lay down, and then
- 2:57I would suddenly I start start having
- 2:59these I I guess I would call them panic
- 3:01attacks, but it was just this immense
- 3:05feeling of dread that would hit me. And
- 3:08to I would get up, I would walk around
- 3:10there. There was nothing I could do to
- 3:12get get rid of it. And and I mean, it
- 3:14was it's hard to describe. I know people
- 3:16that have had panic attacks will know
- 3:18what I'm talking about. people that have
- 3:20it probably won't, but it it's just a
- 3:23immense feeling of dread that um does
- 3:26not go away.
- 3:28>> And I thought it was just kind of a
- 3:31one-time thing, but it got to the point
- 3:33where um and I think a lot of it was
- 3:35mindset, too, as I would be fine
- 3:37throughout the day, and as soon as I got
- 3:41horizontal in the bed, it it would hit
- 3:44and I would have this attack. So, it got
- 3:46to the point where I would just sit up
- 3:49in the living room and sit and watch TV
- 3:53to the point where I was just so
- 3:54exhausted that uh either I would just
- 3:57fall asleep in the in the chair or the
- 3:59couch or I'd make set to bed and I would
- 4:01finally be able to sleep. And obviously,
- 4:04that's going to have a lot of impact
- 4:06when you're sleeping three hours of
- 4:08night. and and you know with with the
- 4:11the stress and the the my job that I've
- 4:14got uh you know there's a lot of
- 4:16important things that I deal with and it
- 4:18was making a lot of that really
- 4:20difficult. It it got to the point where
- 4:21I would say I was almost narcoleptic
- 4:24during the day because of my lack of
- 4:26sleep. So, um, I reached out. I I tried
- 4:30to get in touch with a few, uh,
- 4:32psychiatrists and and the first thing,
- 4:34you know, a lot of them automatically
- 4:36assume that, you know, you've got people
- 4:38looking for benzo or things like that.
- 4:40And I was like, no, that that's not I
- 4:42just want something to be able to lay
- 4:44down that I don't just get that immense
- 4:47sense of terror that hits me. Um, and
- 4:51the far the they were out three to six
- 4:54months before I could make an
- 4:55appointment for a lot of them. And I
- 4:58finally ended up I went to Tennessee and
- 5:01and got one and they prescribed me
- 5:03flavoxamine.
- 5:05>> Um, so I started taking the flavoxamine.
- 5:08Um,
- 5:10I didn't really see any help from that.
- 5:14I saw a heck of a lot of side effects
- 5:16from it. Mhm.
- 5:18>> Um but I probably took that for about
- 5:19two months um and decided, you know,
- 5:22this this isn't working. So,
- 5:25>> um scrolling through and and I came
- 5:27across your product on Instagram
- 5:31um just, you know, the the typical ads
- 5:32that popped up. So, uh, looked into it
- 5:36and and
- 5:38I would consider myself knowing
- 5:42a considerable bit about
- 5:46medicine, pharmaceuticals, things like
- 5:48that. I know there's a lot of fly by
- 5:49night that that do a lot of claims that
- 5:53they have absolutely no business
- 5:55purporting to make the claims, but you
- 5:57know, I checked into your product and um
- 6:00yeah, I liked what I saw. So, ordered
- 6:03it. I was like, heck, I'm just going to
- 6:04give this a shot.
- 6:06So, few days later, the product came and
- 6:10I took it. And first day I took it, you
- 6:13know, I was expecting some sort of
- 6:15immediate
- 6:17uh I guess my body to tell me that I
- 6:19took something. But there was nothing
- 6:22there. I didn't feel any buzz,
- 6:23lightadedness, dizziness. I felt
- 6:26nothing. But when
- 6:29that night, you know, I did my normal
- 6:31routine. I sat up and I and I noticed I
- 6:34wasn't getting those pains of what I
- 6:36thought would be those nocturnal attacks
- 6:39that they were going to hit me.
- 6:41So, I went and laid down and, you know,
- 6:43there was a minor one, but it was it was
- 6:45very manageable. I didn't get that total
- 6:47sense of dread like, you know, there's
- 6:48no way out of this, no escape. I'm
- 6:51doomed kind of uh feeling. Um, after
- 6:54about day three or four, I would lay
- 6:57down and I would think, you know, am I
- 6:59going to have a panic attack? Am I going
- 7:01to have a panic attack? And and it
- 7:02wouldn't happen.
- 7:04And after about a week of taking uh your
- 7:08product, it it got to the point where I
- 7:10I can lay down now and I don't think I'm
- 7:14going to have a panic attack. And I know
- 7:18there there's a lot of I don't I don't
- 7:21believe in uh I guess coincidences that
- 7:26this happened, you know, a week after I
- 7:29started taking your product when I had
- 7:30taken actual medications that didn't
- 7:32work.
- 7:34And uh so yeah, I've been on your
- 7:36project about I think I'm on my third
- 7:38month now and I can lay down at night
- 7:42and and nothing. I I don't have racing
- 7:45thoughts, you know, that that go through
- 7:47a lot of people's heads when you lay
- 7:49down because at night time is when you
- 7:51think that's when all the bad things you
- 7:52think about, you know, is something
- 7:54going to happen to my family? Is my
- 7:56daughter safe at school? Things like
- 7:58that. And and I don't have those running
- 8:00persistent thoughts. Mhm.
- 8:02>> And u and I mentioned I did a review on
- 8:05your product on Google. I'd mentioned it
- 8:07got to the point that during the day I
- 8:09would go out to the truck and I would
- 8:11lay back and see to take a nap and they
- 8:13got to the point where they would start
- 8:14hitting me there during the day. Um, but
- 8:18now I haven't had a situation that has
- 8:22driven any sort of panic attack and and
- 8:25I've also noticed you know I I deal with
- 8:27a lot of clients and a lot of time not a
- 8:30lot of times but you know you will get
- 8:33clients that are not happy with you uh
- 8:36for something that you were supposed to
- 8:37deliver. I always dreaded those
- 8:40conversations
- 8:41and now I I really go into those and I'm
- 8:44a lot more killheaded even my or even
- 8:47headed and I I present myself I think a
- 8:51lot smoother and I don't have the the
- 8:54worry and the issues going into those
- 8:55conversations. So yeah, I took it for
- 8:58the panic attacks at night, the
- 9:00nocturnal attacks, but I'm seeing a lot
- 9:03of benefit overall just overall more
- 9:06level mood. um I don't get upset about
- 9:10things or I don't worry about things and
- 9:12I don't have those persistent, you know,
- 9:15thoughts that go through your head. So,
- 9:18yeah, long story short, I I I started
- 9:21taking your product. I've been on it
- 9:22three months and just I'm sleeping so
- 9:25much better. I'm better rested during
- 9:27the day, thinking better, more
- 9:29productive. Um and I'm pretty uh I'm not
- 9:34a real outgoing person, I guess. you
- 9:36know, this is not something I would have
- 9:38done ever uh when you invited me to do
- 9:41this, but um I find myself I I I'm, you
- 9:45know, a little more outgoing,
- 9:48not as introverted, I guess, is probably
- 9:49the best way to put it. So whether that
- 9:52is from your product, I don't know. But
- 9:56I I do know I for definite fact I can
- 9:59state that the nocturnal panic attacks
- 10:02uh going away is is attributed to the
- 10:05the unwind product.
- 10:09>> So a lot of talking there. Yeah.
- 10:11>> No, that's amazing. I wanted to kind of
- 10:15tug on like the symptoms when you say
- 10:18that you got that dread when you're
- 10:20trying to go into bed. Was it mostly
- 10:22inside the mind or did you also get like
- 10:25physical um like this this um chest
- 10:28squeezing the short of breath as well?
- 10:31Yeah,
- 10:31>> it was it was physical um man I I can't
- 10:36describe it but it was
- 10:38>> I actually went to the emergency room
- 10:40about the third or fourth one thinking I
- 10:42was having a heart attack. Uh and they
- 10:44checked me out and they were like no
- 10:46everything's fine. um gave me some
- 10:49proprenal, you know, to get the blood
- 10:51pressure down, but they said that that
- 10:54more likely was was panic attack. And of
- 10:57course, they gave me some uh I think
- 10:59highine or or some other medicine to
- 11:01take for that just short term until I
- 11:03could get uh a psychi psychiatrist to
- 11:08prescribe something long term. But yeah,
- 11:10dude, it was
- 11:12the whole body mind body experience. It
- 11:16it was God, it was horrible. Don't wish
- 11:19it on anybody.
- 11:21But I know there's people out there that
- 11:23probably have the the just from the
- 11:25regular panic attacks to the the
- 11:27nocturnal where it's, you know, every
- 11:28night when you lay down. So
- 11:31>> yeah, none none of that anymore. No
- 11:33physical symptoms, mental system
- 11:35symptoms,
- 11:37anything like that.
- 11:42The one thing about I guess it's just
- 11:44anything in general, whether it's a
- 11:45supplement, whether it's a med, it's
- 11:47just if two people have the exact same
- 11:49symptoms, it's totally normal for things
- 11:51to work for one person and not to work
- 11:53for another just because we're all
- 11:55different. with what after trying that
- 11:59one medication rather than going and
- 12:01trying to find another medication
- 12:04um what made you want to try the
- 12:08supplement route instead?
- 12:11>> I don't really like uh any of the SSRIs
- 12:15or um a a lot of those medications.
- 12:18there's a lot of uh issues that can
- 12:21cause with liver, kidneys. Um,
- 12:24>> and just
- 12:26to kind of add on to that, when I
- 12:29stopped taking the fluoxamine after only
- 12:31taking it for a few months, um, I had
- 12:35almost what was can to think maybe like
- 12:37serotonin syndrome. It was like I was
- 12:39having withdrawals from opiates or
- 12:41something. I was just sweating
- 12:43profusely. Um, wake up at night covered
- 12:46in sweat. uh during the day I could sit
- 12:49in a chair and get up and there would
- 12:50actually be a pool of sweat in the seat
- 12:53>> and that was from from taking the
- 12:55fluoxamine just the short time that I
- 12:57was and getting off of it.
- 13:00>> Um the when I went to the clinic to kind
- 13:03of get checked out to make sure it
- 13:04wasn't COVID or anything like that. They
- 13:07had um they were pretty sure that I was
- 13:09taking a uh narcotic and I was having
- 13:13withdrawals from that. But um no it was
- 13:16it was from taking the fluoxamine. So
- 13:20>> there are a lot of I think side effects
- 13:24with
- 13:26uh medication and coming from me that
- 13:29that's my life is making medication for
- 13:32people to take.
- 13:33>> Yeah. Um, yeah. And and I just I didn't
- 13:36want to I didn't want to deal with
- 13:38another one, getting another medicine
- 13:40prescribed that could have had more
- 13:43symptoms and more issues. And with
- 13:46>> um with the hemp your product,
- 13:49>> no side effects. I can stop taking it.
- 13:52Um whether the the panic attack has come
- 13:54back, I don't know if I would stop, but
- 13:56I'm just I'm just doing it as kind of a
- 13:59dose a daily dosing regimen
- 14:01>> uh right now. But yeah, that that's why
- 14:04I kind of went to your product as
- 14:05opposed to looking for more medications.
- 14:07I I didn't want to deal with the side
- 14:08effects.
- 14:10>> Yeah, I know. Definitely there's place
- 14:13in in the world for meds. And then like
- 14:16I know that SSRS has probably saved
- 14:19millions of life. Benzo has probably
- 14:21saved millions of life. But the my goal
- 14:24for this company is to be that middle
- 14:26step because right now the middle step
- 14:29with all the calming and anxiety
- 14:32supplements out there. For me
- 14:33personally, I just haven't had luck with
- 14:35them. So I wanted to create something
- 14:36that has worked for me. So I'm like I
- 14:40want
- 14:41>> if someone goes to the doctor office and
- 14:43says like, "Oh, I'm having difficulty
- 14:45sleeping at night. My mind is racing or
- 14:47I'm getting a bit of anxiety." I want
- 14:49the doctors to go like, "Hey, go to your
- 14:51local CVS and get grab a box of unwind."
- 14:55We're not at CVS yet, but hopefully
- 14:56maybe one day we'll be there, but I want
- 14:58to be that middle step.
- 15:00>> No. And that's Yeah. And I I totally get
- 15:03you. You don't want to give medical
- 15:05advice. And you're right. SSRIs and
- 15:07other medication have saved lots of
- 15:09lives. Yeah.
- 15:10>> Um but yeah, I would I would agree.
- 15:13definitely recommend if you kind of want
- 15:15to find a interim step to see if it
- 15:19works before you jump to um a a
- 15:23medication you have to take on a daily
- 15:24dosing regimen. I would totally
- 15:26recommend trying this.
- 15:29>> Um but yeah, obviously see a doctor, see
- 15:32a professional, but yeah, give this a
- 15:34try. It's I It helped me immensely. It
- 15:38actually helped me better than the the
- 15:39fluox did. So,
- 15:41>> yeah. Did you There's kind of like
- 15:45people create this imaginary war between
- 15:47supplements and meds. I see all of them
- 15:49as tools. Whatever tools work best for
- 15:52you, you go and grab the tools that work
- 15:55that you need. Um, but then people
- 15:57create this imaginary war like, oh,
- 15:59there's supplements versus meds and
- 16:00stuff like that. What were your thoughts
- 16:03on supplements um before you found us?
- 16:07I have um
- 16:11there's a lot of supplements
- 16:14uh that I know are for
- 16:19I guess lack of a better term are BS. Um
- 16:22>> okay,
- 16:23>> if if you think about it, a lot of the
- 16:24pharmaceuticals that we take today are
- 16:26derived from
- 16:28the the same materials that are used for
- 16:30supplements.
- 16:32>> Um it's just your starting point. And um
- 16:36and I think what kind of skewed me away
- 16:39from supplements is what were those
- 16:43uh
- 16:44I I forget what they were called, but I
- 16:47called my mom one of the mafia, but it
- 16:49was the uh nature.
- 16:52It was like the drops people would in
- 16:54the diffusers. They would come rub on
- 16:56the feet and the FDA actually got on
- 16:58them because they were making claims
- 17:00that weren't being uh they couldn't
- 17:02substantiate.
- 17:04Um, but yeah, that kind of soured me on
- 17:07supplements. And then a lot of times
- 17:09you'll see the ads for they're making
- 17:12claims that they have no uh basis to
- 17:16make. Um, so it's just
- 17:19>> do you when when you see a commercial
- 17:22for a supplement, obviously do your
- 17:24research. Um, you know, I looked into
- 17:26your product and I I felt comfortable
- 17:28ordering your product, but yeah, there
- 17:31are a lot of supplement uh ads on
- 17:35Instagram or whatever platform you're on
- 17:38that are it's just a bunch of malarkey
- 17:41and
- 17:43it's Yeah. So, I'm I have kind of a very
- 17:47um soured opinion of supplements in
- 17:51general,
- 17:52>> just the way that they are marketed.
- 17:55>> I get if that makes sense.
- 17:58>> But no, a lot of the supplements are
- 18:00effective. A lot of supplements do work.
- 18:02And again, a lot of the supplements are
- 18:04the same starting materials that are
- 18:06used for pharmaceuticals.
- 18:09>> I didn't know that. as in can you give
- 18:11me like an example of like the starting
- 18:13material? Um how a supplement and a
- 18:16medication will have the same starting
- 18:18material?
- 18:19>> Uh
- 18:20you going to put me on the spot right
- 18:22here. Let me if something pops up I I'll
- 18:26come back to you on that.
- 18:28>> Okay.
- 18:30Okay.
- 18:30>> But yeah, it's Yeah, a lot of like the
- 18:34natural ingredients, you know, the flour
- 18:36extracts or things like that. um they'll
- 18:40take them and they'll further drift or
- 18:42whatever and get into actual
- 18:45make actual medication.
- 18:47>> Um
- 18:48>> okay, that one I actually I have an
- 18:51example myself. It's like how aspirin is
- 18:54derived from the bark of a willow tree.
- 18:56Uh but then it's just you
- 19:00um I think not aspirin a set of
- 19:03menophine is derived from a bark of a
- 19:05willow tree. That's where the origins
- 19:07are from. That's what I've read. But
- 19:09maybe I'm wrong. So if you're listening
- 19:10and I'm completely wrong, just let me
- 19:12know in the comments.
- 19:16>> Yeah.
- 19:16>> Yeah. It's um No, it's right. I mean, a
- 19:18lot of the flowers I mean for example,
- 19:20if you look at uh
- 19:23>> poppy seeds, I mean poppy plant that a
- 19:26lot of the opiates are derived from
- 19:27poppies.
- 19:29>> Uh
- 19:30but yeah, it's a lot of them are are
- 19:32plant derived origin. They can
- 19:34synthesize a lot now. Like a lot of the
- 19:36C dimensional now is synthesized
- 19:38material.
- 19:39>> But yeah, most of it's plant origin or
- 19:41it used to be all plant
- 19:43>> origin.
- 19:45>> And so we've got one product that's a
- 19:46root. Um it's a sugar derived product
- 19:49from a root that's used for skin
- 19:51conditions.
- 19:53>> Uh that could easily be a a supplement.
- 19:55Could be sold as a supplement, but we
- 19:58put it in a pharmaceutical grade
- 20:00product.
- 20:01M
- 20:04if you're allowed to share what are the
- 20:07top products that you manufacture?
- 20:09>> I can't. Sorry.
- 20:11>> Okay, no worries. I was just curious.
- 20:14>> We we do make a lot of pet medicated pet
- 20:18products and a lot of human health
- 20:20products, but a lot of your standard
- 20:22cough and cold things like that. And
- 20:24there's there's a few more that are um
- 20:28I guess more
- 20:31uh
- 20:32specific I guess to certain other
- 20:35problems. But yeah, I can't I can't get
- 20:38into a lot of the
- 20:39>> No,
- 20:40>> it's nothing huge. Trade secrets are
- 20:42like that. We just have NDAs with all
- 20:44our clients and I can't discuss those
- 20:47products.
- 20:49>> Got it.
- 20:50>> Yeah.
- 20:51When when you said you visited our
- 20:54website, something about you made you
- 20:56think like, "Oh, I'm willing to give
- 20:58this a try." Do you recall what that
- 21:01was?
- 21:03>> Um,
- 21:04honestly,
- 21:06it started with the reviews
- 21:08and a lot of it was
- 21:13your I guess I could say your engagement
- 21:15with your customers. I was going through
- 21:18looking at a lot of the videos and um I
- 21:21I could tell one you had a commitment to
- 21:25what you wanted to be a good product.
- 21:27Two, you actually care about the people
- 21:30taking your product. Um and then yeah,
- 21:34three, then I kind of did my own
- 21:35research on it. And you're not using
- 21:38you're not doing anything new. It's not
- 21:40a groundbreaking product, but you know,
- 21:42you're making you're using good starting
- 21:44material.
- 21:45uh you're making it right, making it,
- 21:48you know, semiafordable
- 21:50and and it it works for me at least, and
- 21:55that's important. But yeah, a lot of it
- 21:57was your engagement with your your
- 21:58clientele is kind of what made me look
- 22:01more into it. I could tell that you as a
- 22:04person uh are not in this to just do a
- 22:07quick get-rich quick scheme and walk
- 22:10away from it.
- 22:15Definitely not. I'm in this for the long
- 22:17run. So, and I wanted my goal is just to
- 22:20>> I want to be big enough where we can
- 22:22make our and get like the fancy
- 22:25equipment that your company probably has
- 22:27to bring down the production cost so
- 22:29that we can bring the price down and
- 22:31make it more accessible for for just um
- 22:35everyone. That's that's my goal. And go
- 22:37global if
- 22:39>> Yeah. No, I can understand that. I mean,
- 22:42if I can ever help you out, let me know.
- 22:44I mean, I chemist for 30 years of my
- 22:47life and
- 22:49>> and pharma manufacturing. So, yeah, if
- 22:51you ever need any input on anything or
- 22:53have any questions, let me know. I can
- 22:55point you toward equipment and people
- 22:57and
- 22:58>> yeah,
- 22:59>> kind of things that you would need.
- 23:01>> I appreciate it.
- 23:04If you had to paint a picture just on
- 23:07like so we understand like how the
- 23:09nighttime was but then when you can't
- 23:11get good sleep that affects every other
- 23:14aspect of your life the way maybe it's
- 23:16harder to regulate emotions you snap a
- 23:18little bit more and stuff like that. So
- 23:21>> how has your dayto-day changed from the
- 23:24few months before finding us when you
- 23:27were having those panic attacks to how
- 23:30it is now a few months after finding us?
- 23:34uh more productive one, more level. Um
- 23:38>> uh there's a lot more focus on what I'm
- 23:40doing. I can think better. Um I I'll
- 23:44tell you there were days that when I was
- 23:45having those panic attacks and getting
- 23:47two to three hours of sleep, I barely
- 23:50remember the days. And you know, it's
- 23:52possible I was making decisions that I
- 23:55had no business making or I wasn't
- 23:58looking at something that you know, one
- 24:01of my people gave me. is like, hey, is
- 24:02this something we can release? Um, maybe
- 24:06I wasn't as focused on it, things like
- 24:08that. But yeah, going from that to now,
- 24:12it's there there is a lot more focus.
- 24:14I'm obviously better rested, so more
- 24:18productive,
- 24:20uh, more attentive to, you know,
- 24:22documents I'm reviewing, projects that
- 24:25I'm working on. It's just Yeah.
- 24:29And and that's, you know, that's I don't
- 24:31I don't attribute that to your product
- 24:33making me
- 24:36more productive in that way. I I
- 24:38contribute that to making me a better
- 24:40well-rested, more overall kill,
- 24:44>> levelheaded person. You know, anxiety
- 24:47factors gone, better sleep, more
- 24:50productive.
- 24:54>> I guess that's the best way to put it.
- 24:58Sleep is the foundation of everything.
- 25:00With bad sleep, everything goes down.
- 25:02Yeah. So,
- 25:04>> you're sicker more often.
- 25:06>> Yeah.
- 25:07>> Yeah. So, yeah. Overall, man, that's a
- 25:11lot better. A lot better state just
- 25:13physically, mentally,
- 25:15>> you know, in the past few months. And I
- 25:16I do attribute a lot of that to the
- 25:19product, you know, helping me get past
- 25:21those nocturnal panic attacks and and
- 25:24getting the better sleep.
- 25:30has when you were just when you were
- 25:34going into these nightly panic attacks,
- 25:37you can't sleep, you're going to the
- 25:38sofa. Did your family notice that you
- 25:42were going through this?
- 25:44Uh
- 25:46the wife did eventually
- 25:50um cuz I had made
- 25:54she had made a comment about hey I don't
- 25:56really know what is how we could make
- 25:58this stop and I had kind of made a very
- 26:01off color comment that I should have
- 26:03never made. Um,
- 26:06>> and it would it would it would have been
- 26:07a comment that I guess somebody in a
- 26:09very depressed
- 26:10uh state with not really a lot of future
- 26:14outlook would make if you kind of get
- 26:16what I'm the drift that I'm saying.
- 26:18>> Yeah.
- 26:18>> And and uh
- 26:21that kind of really set her off that I
- 26:22would say something like that.
- 26:25>> Um so yeah, she after that she was aware
- 26:30and she would do what she would can at
- 26:32night. you know, we've got one of those
- 26:34beds that allow you to sit up and she
- 26:37was like, "Hey, you can turn the TV on
- 26:39in the bedroom. I'll just put a night
- 26:40mask on and you can sit up in here and
- 26:42watch TV. Maybe that'll help." So, where
- 26:46she was able, she changed a lot of her
- 26:48life to kind of help me get through that
- 26:52point. And you know in the long term it
- 26:54would have if it would have impacted her
- 26:56too because I know me and there watching
- 26:58TV at night, light blaring from the TV.
- 27:01I know that impacted her her sleep as
- 27:03well.
- 27:04>> But I got a great wife. She you know
- 27:06she'll do that for me. So
- 27:08>> yeah.
- 27:09>> And she likes her sleep.
- 27:14>> Did you did you tell her, oh this scoop
- 27:17is it helped helped me out? Does she
- 27:19know about Unwind?
- 27:21>> Yeah, she does. So, when it first came
- 27:23in, I showed it to her. I was like,
- 27:24"Hey, this we're going to give this a
- 27:26try and see how it works." And
- 27:28>> yeah.
- 27:28>> Um, yeah. Few days in and it works.
- 27:33>> Fantastic.
- 27:35>> Oh, Alan, I always like to wrap these
- 27:37podcasts up with three speedrun
- 27:39questions just to throw you some curve
- 27:40balls before I let you go about your
- 27:42way. Are you ready?
- 27:43>> Yeah.
- 27:45If you and your wife can be had two
- 27:49weeks off and you can go anywhere in the
- 27:51world right now, where would you be?
- 27:54>> Ireland.
- 27:55>> Ireland. Okay.
- 27:59>> If What's the worst thing that you have
- 28:02worst and dumbest thing you've ever
- 28:04spent your money on?
- 28:07>> Oh my god.
- 28:09Um,
- 28:15God, man, that's a tough one.
- 28:20I
- 28:24It's I was not the best with money for a
- 28:26long time just for buying a lot of
- 28:27stupid things.
- 28:29I, you know, I don't know an answer to
- 28:33that. I'm trying to think of a big
- 28:35purchase where
- 28:38Yeah. I don't know, James. That's That's
- 28:40a
- 28:43That's a good I know. When I was
- 28:44younger, probably just Yeah. I don't
- 28:47know. I don't know.
- 28:49I don't have an answer for you on that
- 28:51one.
- 28:52>> Okay. No worries.
- 28:54>> If you can go back in time and speak
- 28:58with younger Allen and just give him one
- 29:00life advice that you had to learn the
- 29:02hard way, what how old is younger Allen
- 29:05and what's the message?
- 29:08Um, it would probably be
- 29:13uh the worst things that I've had issues
- 29:15with was you know what
- 29:1819year-old Allan started smoking and
- 29:22stopping smoking was it it was pretty
- 29:24difficult and you know I know the other
- 29:26people trying to get off a lot harder
- 29:28things but I would go back to that guys
- 29:30like dude
- 29:31don't try to be cool smoking with your
- 29:34boys. Yeah, don't ever start that.
- 29:38But yeah, it's no, I'm I'm happy with
- 29:40what I've done in life with my school,
- 29:42my career choice,
- 29:44>> uh my family, the person I've met. It's
- 29:46it's just Yeah, that's that's one thing
- 29:48that I've always hated that I started
- 29:50doing was
- 29:51>> was uh smoking and and getting off that
- 29:54was brutal just from
- 29:58I mean, it wasn't like getting off, you
- 30:00know, something illegal. some of those
- 30:03controlled substances that people may be
- 30:05taking, but stop. Yeah, that was I was I
- 30:07was a grumpy iate man for several weeks
- 30:12>> and it took a lot. You took a toll on
- 30:14the health. So, yeah, getting over all
- 30:16that finally.
- 30:20>> This
- 30:23is not part of the questions, but um
- 30:26questions, but I just wanted to have
- 30:28squeezing a fourth. What is one of the
- 30:31most important decisions you've made in
- 30:34your life that you can contribute to
- 30:38getting you to where you are right now
- 30:40with like being happy with where you
- 30:42are, happy wife and just
- 30:46feeling very
- 30:49like very sat like h I guess satisfied
- 30:52with where you are in life because I
- 30:54feel like so many people are always like
- 30:56unsatisfied with life.
- 30:58>> Yeah. Um
- 31:00I I guess probably the one thing that um
- 31:04and and I tell my daughter this too,
- 31:07there's only
- 31:10you you have to not worry about the
- 31:14noise other people, you know, take care
- 31:17of yourself. I've got a few people that,
- 31:20you know, being my family obviously that
- 31:23their opinion of me matters, you know,
- 31:26wife, daughter, my mom, dad, things like
- 31:29that. Um,
- 31:32but I think if I had to put so much
- 31:34focus on what people think about me, um,
- 31:38if trying to please others,
- 31:41um, doing all that as I was growing up,
- 31:45uh, I think that would have helped a lot
- 31:47if I would have put more focus on
- 31:49myself, you know, do what I want to do.
- 31:52Um, if I've got a stupid hobby that
- 31:55everybody else thinks is ignorant, go
- 31:57out and do it. Who cares?
- 31:58>> Yeah. you know, do what makes you happy.
- 32:02Um, you know, just only worry about your
- 32:05family. You, you know, the the people
- 32:08that matter to you are the people that
- 32:11you need to work at pleasing and and get
- 32:14along with. Everybody else is just just
- 32:16noise,
- 32:19>> you know?
- 32:19>> Yeah. I guess that that's kind of over
- 32:22the past couple of years something that
- 32:24I've really
- 32:26uh I guess kind of my mindset has gone
- 32:29to and I've uh kind of really impressed
- 32:31that on my daughter especially when she
- 32:33was getting through high school going
- 32:35into college and you would you would
- 32:37have the the high school drama um
- 32:40>> you know I would tell her I was like hey
- 32:42that what are they going to matter to
- 32:44you in five years you know is anything
- 32:47in your life gonna be different because
- 32:50uh
- 32:51Jane said this about you or didn't like
- 32:54you or Jane doesn't like you. It it it
- 32:57doesn't matter. Focus on you. Focus on
- 33:00the people that are important to you and
- 33:02and be done with it. You you'll be a lot
- 33:04happier when you stop worrying about
- 33:06everybody else.
- 33:08if you're making everybody else happy.
- 33:14>> I love that one because that was one of
- 33:16the first lessons I had to learn when I
- 33:19was coming out of my own depression and
- 33:21anxiety. It was through a book, The Soul
- 33:24Art to Not [ __ ] Yourself. And then
- 33:26that's exactly the message that the book
- 33:29tries to portray.
- 33:30>> So, I love that. Yeah.
- 33:34>> Yeah. It makes a lot of difference.
- 33:36>> Yeah. makes a lot of difference.
- 33:38>> Yeah. Um it was a subtle art of not
- 33:41giving a [ __ ] And I'm gonna I don't
- 33:43think I need to bleep it out. It's 18
- 33:45bucks. But yeah,
- 33:47but yeah, Al and I truly appreciate you
- 33:51for hopping on and sharing your story.
- 33:54Our goal is
- 33:56>> to hopefully this reaches one more
- 33:58person in dark place and we can pull
- 33:59them out and help them out.
- 34:02>> Yeah, I I agree. If anybody out there is
- 34:05having a panic attack issue, give this a
- 34:08try at least. Obviously, see your
- 34:10doctor, but give it a try.
- 34:13>> Yeah,
- 34:14>> it it it definitely helped me.
- 34:18>> Well, I thank you all for listening. If
- 34:21you guys have any questions, make sure
- 34:22to leave a comment down below. And Allan
- 34:25and everyone listening, I wish you all a
- 34:28healthy and happy day. Peace.
