  SPEAKER_00: We're moving into mutable earth energy as opposed to fixed fire,

  SPEAKER_00: which we've had so much of the past few weeks.

  SPEAKER_00: And it's the quintessential back-to-school energy.

  SPEAKER_00: It was traditionally organized around going back to school around the same time that
• 1:16
  SPEAKER_00: the sun moved into Virgo.
• 1:18
  SPEAKER_00: It's a highly appropriate time for that energetically.

  SPEAKER_00: And even though school years have changed in a lot of places
• 1:26
  SPEAKER_00: and not everyone goes back to school at this time of year anymore,

  SPEAKER_00: which is I wholeheartedly disagree with,
• 1:33
  SPEAKER_00: by the way, kids should never have to go back to school during Leo season.

  SPEAKER_00: I mean, let's get real, but I digress.

  SPEAKER_00: You know,
• 1:41
  SPEAKER_00: even though we don't do that anymore,

  SPEAKER_00: though, that is really the exact type of energy we are getting today.

  SPEAKER_00: talk about what Virgo energy is all about,

  SPEAKER_00: what makes this particular Virgo season a little different,

  SPEAKER_00: and then we'll walk through the major astrology happening between now and the time

  SPEAKER_00: that the Sun moves into Libra.

  SPEAKER_00: So it's a really good moon to look at for intention setting.

  SPEAKER_00: The Sun enters Virgo on August 22nd and I really think that we are going
• 3:15
  SPEAKER_00: to feel this shift right away because Virgo is just so different from Leo.

  SPEAKER_00: But, and there is somewhat of a but here because at least in the beginning...
• 3:28
  SPEAKER_00: This is going to feel a little different from some Virgo seasons
• 3:33
  SPEAKER_00: because we are entering it right in the middle of eclipse season.
• 3:40
  SPEAKER_00: This is very intense energy that we are in right now and that's going to last
• 3:46
  SPEAKER_00: for really that first week or so of the season.
• 3:50
  SPEAKER_00: We had a solar eclipse in Leo on August 12th and Less than a week after
• 3:57
  SPEAKER_00: the Sun enters Virgo, we'll have a lunar eclipse in Pisces.

  SPEAKER_00: This will be the last eclipse in Pisces for many years,
• 4:05
  SPEAKER_00: so it has kind of an exclamation point at the end of it,
• 4:09
  SPEAKER_00: plus it's square Uranus,
• 4:11
  SPEAKER_00: which is volatile, and we'll get into all of that in just a bit here.
• 4:15
  SPEAKER_00: But in terms of Virgo season overall,
• 4:19
  SPEAKER_00: quite a bit of the biggest astrology happens right near the beginning of the season,
• 4:25
  SPEAKER_00: and then we get to level out just a bit.
• 4:28
  SPEAKER_00: But before we get into what's happening this year, let's talk about Virgo itself.

  SPEAKER_00: What is Virgo energy?
• 4:36
  SPEAKER_00: Well, as I said, Virgo is the mutable earth sign.
• 4:40
  SPEAKER_00: Earth signs are generally concerned with the practical, tangible parts of life.
• 4:47
  SPEAKER_00: These are the things we need to manage, maintain, and take care of.
• 4:53
  SPEAKER_00: Earth signs are about our actual existence here in the world.
• 4:59
  SPEAKER_00: It's very grounded in day-to-day living as opposed to water,
• 5:03
  SPEAKER_00: which is based more on our emotions or our intuition, or air, which is about ideas.
• 5:09
  SPEAKER_00: Earth signs are grounded and like to deal with practical matters.
• 5:14
  SPEAKER_00: And then it's also a mutable sign.
• 5:16
  SPEAKER_00: And mutable signs are adaptable.
• 5:19
  SPEAKER_00: They occur at the end of seasons when one season is beginning to transition into another.
• 5:25
  SPEAKER_00: So they serve kind of like as a bridge between two worlds, the two ways of being.
• 5:31
  SPEAKER_00: And in this case, Virgo is a bridge between summer and autumn.
• 5:35
  SPEAKER_00: Now we put those things together.
• 5:37
  SPEAKER_00: And Virgo is very good at looking at the reality of a situation
• 5:42
  SPEAKER_00: and figuring out What's working and what's not working.
• 5:47
  SPEAKER_00: And with Virgo,
• 5:48
  SPEAKER_00: you know,
• 5:48
  SPEAKER_00: most especially they can almost automatically see what isn't working
• 5:52
  SPEAKER_00: or what isn't functioning as well as it could.
• 5:56
  SPEAKER_00: And then Virgo wants to know and figure out what could work better then, right?

  SPEAKER_00: How do we make things work better?
• 6:06
  SPEAKER_00: How can we fix this and have it be more functional or be something that people can really use?

  SPEAKER_00: So it's really great at optimization, right?
• 6:16
  SPEAKER_00: This is one of the reasons that Virgo gets associated with things like organization
• 6:22
  SPEAKER_00: and Daily or weekly routines,
• 6:24
  SPEAKER_00: our work,
• 6:26
  SPEAKER_00: our health,
• 6:27
  SPEAKER_00: hygiene,
• 6:28
  SPEAKER_00: practical skills,
• 6:29
  SPEAKER_00: being of service,
• 6:31
  SPEAKER_00: productivity and getting things done,
• 6:33
  SPEAKER_00: checking off all the items on the to-do list,
• 6:36
  SPEAKER_00: and above all else, attention to detail.
• 6:40
  SPEAKER_00: This is a sign that notices the little things,
• 6:44
  SPEAKER_00: sometimes the most minute things, and it really cares about them.
• 6:49
  SPEAKER_00: So it can be really good at developing a skill or a craft in addition
• 6:55
  SPEAKER_00: to getting all those things done because real artistry or expertise often comes
• 7:00
  SPEAKER_00: from mastering all those little details and getting them just right.
• 7:05
  SPEAKER_00: Virgo wants things to function well.
• 7:08
  SPEAKER_00: It notices the little things.
• 7:09
  SPEAKER_00: It sees what it is that could be adjusted or edited, improved, cleaned up, made better.

  SPEAKER_00: And so, you know,
• 7:17
  SPEAKER_00: I think the best word, the word that always comes to mind with Virgo is discernment.
• 7:23
  SPEAKER_00: Discernment is just the ability to distinguish between things, right?
• 7:28
  SPEAKER_00: Like it can distinguish what's useful and what's not useful,
• 7:31
  SPEAKER_00: what's important and what's just a distraction from the things that are important.
• 7:36
  SPEAKER_00: And of course, every sign has its less constructive expressions, shadow expressions.
• 7:43
  SPEAKER_00: So Virgo's ability to see what could be better can become perfectionism.
• 7:49
  SPEAKER_00: It can become worry or overthinking, even anxiety.
• 7:54
  SPEAKER_00: It can become criticism.
• 7:57
  SPEAKER_00: Virgo energy can be stereotypically hypercritical, both of themselves and of other people.

  SPEAKER_00: Or circumstances, right?
• 8:08
  SPEAKER_00: Sometimes Virgo can become so focused on what's missing or what needs to be fixed
• 8:15
  SPEAKER_00: or what could be better that it can lose sight
• 8:18
  SPEAKER_00: of everything that's actually working really well.
• 8:22
  SPEAKER_00: It can be hard for Virgo energy to feel at peace truly because there's always more to fix.
• 8:28
  SPEAKER_00: The work is never done.
• 8:31
  SPEAKER_00: So when we're working with Virgo energy,
• 8:33
  SPEAKER_00: as we will be over these next few weeks,
• 8:35
  SPEAKER_00: we want to be really careful to remember that the goal isn't supposed
• 8:39
  SPEAKER_00: to be perfection.
• 8:41
  SPEAKER_00: It's improvement.
• 8:42
  SPEAKER_00: Just improvement.
• 8:44
  SPEAKER_00: Just making things a little bit better than they were.
• 8:48
  SPEAKER_00: While remembering that perfection doesn't actually exist.

  SPEAKER_00: That's not a real thing, right?
• 8:54
  SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, we can all end up chasing our tails.
• 8:57
  SPEAKER_00: Remembering this can make things feel much more manageable.

  SPEAKER_00: OK, we're not perfecting.
• 9:03
  SPEAKER_00: We are just improving.
• 9:05
  SPEAKER_00: Now, let's talk about the planetary ruler of Virgo.
• 9:08
  SPEAKER_00: Virgo is ruled by Mercury.
• 9:11
  SPEAKER_00: And Mercury is a really interesting planet because it rules two signs.
• 9:15
  SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, most of the planets rule two signs except the sun and the moon.
• 9:19
  SPEAKER_00: But Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo.
• 9:23
  SPEAKER_00: Mercury is the planet associated with the mind and with information.
• 9:28
  SPEAKER_00: It describes very cerebral things like thinking and learning,
• 9:34
  SPEAKER_00: communication,
• 9:35
  SPEAKER_00: speaking,
• 9:36
  SPEAKER_00: writing,
• 9:37
  SPEAKER_00: observing,
• 9:38
  SPEAKER_00: processing information,
• 9:40
  SPEAKER_00: using data, making connections, categorizing things, systematizing things.
• 9:47
  SPEAKER_00: But When we look at these two signs, Gemini and Virgo, we see different sides of Mercury.
• 9:53
  SPEAKER_00: It's still ruled by the same planet.
• 9:55
  SPEAKER_00: They're still ruled by the same planet, but they use the planetary energy kind of differently.

  SPEAKER_00: This is what always happens, you know, with these planets that rule two sides in Gemini.

  SPEAKER_00: Mercury is really curious and it likes to explore new things and network with lots
• 10:13
  SPEAKER_00: of people and gather lots and lots of information, right?
• 10:17
  SPEAKER_00: It's like gathering up all the raw data, scooping up all the info.

  SPEAKER_00: It likes to ask a lot of questions, again,
• 10:24
  SPEAKER_00: talks to a lot of people,
• 10:26
  SPEAKER_00: learns a bunch of new stuff,
• 10:28
  SPEAKER_00: explores different ideas,
• 10:30
  SPEAKER_00: and likes to make connections between one thing and another thing,
• 10:34
  SPEAKER_00: this idea with that idea.
• 10:35
  SPEAKER_00: And then it likes to share a lot of these ideas that it's learning about.
• 10:39
  SPEAKER_00: Virgo does something a little different with Mercury.
• 10:44
  SPEAKER_00: Virgo wants to actually kind of make sense of all the information that And then use it, right?
• 10:52
  SPEAKER_00: Like, how is this information actually helpful for people?
• 10:56
  SPEAKER_00: What good is it to have information anyway, unless we can figure out how it helps us somehow?

  SPEAKER_00: What are we going to do with all this?
• 11:04
  SPEAKER_00: What parts of all the things that we now know can we use?
• 11:07
  SPEAKER_00: What parts of it are accurate?
• 11:09
  SPEAKER_00: Are there things in here that aren't accurate or that we want to toss out?
• 11:13
  SPEAKER_00: So it's a what am I going to do with what I've learned kind of energy.
• 11:18
  SPEAKER_00: And, um, You know, again, these are two complementary sides of the same planet.
• 11:25
  SPEAKER_00: And Mercury is really strong in Virgo.
• 11:28
  SPEAKER_00: Let's make no bones about this.
• 11:29
  SPEAKER_00: When Mercury is in Virgo,
• 11:31
  SPEAKER_00: it's both in domicile,
• 11:33
  SPEAKER_00: meaning it's one of the signs that Mercury rules,
• 11:36
  SPEAKER_00: and it's exalted in this sign as well.
• 11:39
  SPEAKER_00: This is actually the only planet that has ever been In both domicile and exalted in
• 11:44
  SPEAKER_00: the exact same sign.
• 11:46
  SPEAKER_00: No other planet or sign combo does that.
• 11:48
  SPEAKER_00: So you can extrapolate from that just how much Mercury likes being in Virgo
• 11:53
  SPEAKER_00: and how strongly it performs here.
• 11:57
  SPEAKER_00: Because Mercury really does have a lot of resources available to it in the sign of Virgo.

  SPEAKER_00: Now, if you have your natal Mercury in Virgo or,

  SPEAKER_00: you know, when transit Mercury is in Virgo, which it will be soon...

  SPEAKER_00: During this season,
• 12:13
  SPEAKER_00: this can be a really good placement for things like planning and organizing
• 12:18
  SPEAKER_00: and studying,
• 12:18
  SPEAKER_00: writing, editing, solving problems, working through the details, right?

  SPEAKER_00: This is when you're going to really want to try and buckle down
• 12:27
  SPEAKER_00: and get your work done, people, okay?
• 12:30
  SPEAKER_00: Mercury actually enters Virgo on August 25th.
• 12:34
  SPEAKER_00: And so everything's going to become quite active intellectually, like almost immediately.
• 12:40
  SPEAKER_00: You'll feel it.
• 12:41
  SPEAKER_00: Trust me.
• 12:42
  SPEAKER_00: So let's talk now about this particular Virgo season,
• 12:47
  SPEAKER_00: because there really are some things that stand out here.
• 12:50
  SPEAKER_00: First, as I mentioned earlier, we're starting Virgo season during eclipse season.
• 12:55
  SPEAKER_00: We already had that Leo solar eclipse,
• 12:58
  SPEAKER_00: and very early in Virgo season, we'll have a lunar eclipse in Pisces.

  SPEAKER_00: That'll be on the 27th or 28th, depending on where you are.
• 13:07
  SPEAKER_00: On the west coast of the U.S., I think it will be later in the evening.
• 13:11
  SPEAKER_00: On the 27th, if you're east coast, most of us will be sleeping already.
• 13:17
  SPEAKER_00: And our friends internationally will fall on either side of that,
• 13:20
  SPEAKER_00: depending on where in the world you are.
• 13:23
  SPEAKER_00: I'll be doing a separate episode specifically about that eclipse,

  SPEAKER_00: so we're not going to go into all the stuff around it today,
• 13:31
  SPEAKER_00: but I will cover some of it here in a bit because this really is going
• 13:34
  SPEAKER_00: to be significant for a lot of people.

  SPEAKER_00: We'll discuss the basics.
• 13:39
  SPEAKER_00: The second thing I want to point out is that a lot of the most significant astrology
• 13:44
  SPEAKER_00: of Virgo season actually happens very early in the season.
• 13:48
  SPEAKER_00: Not that nothing is happening later.
• 13:50
  SPEAKER_00: Of course, there are always things happening in the sky.
• 13:52
  SPEAKER_00: But this first week or so is particularly active and a little more intense,
• 13:56
  SPEAKER_00: I think, than the rest of the month.

  SPEAKER_00: We have the Sun and Mercury interacting with the South Node.
• 14:04
  SPEAKER_00: Mercury enters Virgo and becomes Kazemi.
• 14:08
  SPEAKER_00: Then we have the Pisces lunar eclipse, which is square Uranus.

  SPEAKER_00: Mercury is also squaring Uranus then.
• 14:15
  SPEAKER_00: And a few days later, Jupiter trine Saturn, followed very closely by Mars squaring Saturn.

  SPEAKER_00: I know I'm going through this really fast.
• 14:23
  SPEAKER_00: I'm covering it all again.
• 14:24
  SPEAKER_00: Don't worry if you're missing some of this.
• 14:26
  SPEAKER_00: But there's just a lot happening in a relatively short period of time.

  SPEAKER_00: And third here,
• 14:32
  SPEAKER_00: Mercury itself is particularly important this month,
• 14:36
  SPEAKER_00: not just because it rules Virgo, right?
• 14:39
  SPEAKER_00: I mean, it does.
• 14:39
  SPEAKER_00: So we're always going to pay attention to Mercury during Virgo season.
• 14:43
  SPEAKER_00: But this year, Mercury is in Virgo for much of the season, where again, it is very strong.

  SPEAKER_00: And it's also involved in some of the most interesting aspects that are going
• 14:54
  SPEAKER_00: to be happening around the eclipse and beyond.
• 14:57
  SPEAKER_00: So we're going to be talking a lot about Mercury here.
• 15:01
  SPEAKER_00: So what does all of this mean?
• 15:03
  SPEAKER_00: What is all going to mean for the overall vibe of Virgo season?
• 15:08
  SPEAKER_00: You know, I would describe the beginning of the month as busy and kind
• 15:15
  SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I want to say volatile.
• 15:17
  SPEAKER_00: It could be volatile with the eclipses, but maybe changeable, right?
• 15:20
  SPEAKER_00: I think this is a time to get adaptable.
• 15:23
  SPEAKER_00: You know, again, we're working with mutable energy and there are eclipses.
• 15:26
  SPEAKER_00: So we should be nothing if not adaptable.
• 15:29
  SPEAKER_00: And that's going to make this season much more comfortable if we can do that.
• 15:35
  SPEAKER_00: Now, as usual,
• 15:36
  SPEAKER_00: Virgo may be encouraging us to get organized,
• 15:39
  SPEAKER_00: get back into our routines after the summer,
• 15:43
  SPEAKER_00: make some real plans and start figuring out what needs our attention.

  SPEAKER_00: You know, like,
• 15:48
  SPEAKER_00: have you ever had that experience where you kind of let some things go or you relax
• 15:53
  SPEAKER_00: on some things over the summer and then comes fall and you now feel like,
• 15:56
  SPEAKER_00: oh, my gosh, there's so much that I need to tend to.
• 15:59
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 15:59
  SPEAKER_00: So there's going to be that kind of a vibe.

  SPEAKER_00: With Virgo season, as there always is.
• 16:05
  SPEAKER_00: But again, eclipses.
• 16:07
  SPEAKER_00: And eclipses can coincide with periods where circumstances are changing,
• 16:12
  SPEAKER_00: sometimes drastically and quickly, and sometimes more subtly.
• 16:18
  SPEAKER_00: But certainly for many people,
• 16:19
  SPEAKER_00: things are becoming clearer or developments are happening
• 16:23
  SPEAKER_00: that we didn't necessarily anticipate.
• 16:25
  SPEAKER_00: They could also be ones you do anticipate, right?
• 16:28
  SPEAKER_00: But there's just a lot of change in the air.
• 16:31
  SPEAKER_00: So I wouldn't approach this particular Virgo season with the idea
• 16:35
  SPEAKER_00: that we're just going to make the perfect plan and then follow it to the letter,
• 16:40
  SPEAKER_00: which of course probably vexes Virgo energy immensely.
• 16:44
  SPEAKER_00: But there may need to be some adjusting.
• 16:47
  SPEAKER_00: And that's something Virgo is pretty good at, too.
• 16:50
  SPEAKER_00: Remember, it's a mutable sign.
• 16:52
  SPEAKER_00: It notices what's happening.
• 16:54
  SPEAKER_00: It can be realistic.
• 16:55
  SPEAKER_00: It can be practical and make the right corrections.
• 16:58
  SPEAKER_00: So there is plenty of very supportive Virgo energy available
• 17:03
  SPEAKER_00: for just sorting things out,
• 17:05
  SPEAKER_00: dealing with the details that come up and getting practical around the improvements
• 17:12
  SPEAKER_00: that you're going to make.
• 17:14
  SPEAKER_00: But we just may need to be flexible about exactly what those improvements are going
• 17:18
  SPEAKER_00: to look like because it's eclipse season, right?
• 17:20
  SPEAKER_00: And things are going to keep changing.
• 17:24
  SPEAKER_00: Now, after the very busy opening of the season, things will settle down a little, somewhat.
• 17:32
  SPEAKER_00: And then around September 10th, we'll start to feel another shift.
• 17:35
  SPEAKER_00: Mercury will leave Virgo and enter Libra, while Venus leaves Libra and enters Scorpio.
• 17:41
  SPEAKER_00: So we have some sign changes, some ingresses.
• 17:44
  SPEAKER_00: And you know, Venus is eventually going to retrograde in Scorpio in early October.
• 17:50
  SPEAKER_00: So some of the Venus related things
• 17:52
  SPEAKER_00: that begin appearing around this time may become more important come Libra season.
• 17:58
  SPEAKER_00: We'll talk about that much more next month.

  SPEAKER_00: But for now, let's start at the beginning and walk through the astrology of Virgo season.

  SPEAKER_00: And we'll just kind of go in chronological order.

  SPEAKER_00: Virgo season begins on August 22nd.

  SPEAKER_00: But just before the Sun enters Virgo,
• 18:14
  SPEAKER_00: I'm starting just a little before here,
• 18:17
  SPEAKER_00: a little rewind,
• 18:18
  SPEAKER_00: because it makes an exact conjunction with the South Node at 29 degrees of Leo.
• 18:25
  SPEAKER_00: And the South Node is typically associated with release,
• 18:29
  SPEAKER_00: completion, the past, or things that have become familiar to us, right?
• 18:35
  SPEAKER_00: It's also associated with putting things out into the world like a culmination.
• 18:40
  SPEAKER_00: There's something so interesting about the beginning of
• 18:43
  SPEAKER_00: a new astrological season coming immediately after the sun touches the south node,
• 18:49
  SPEAKER_00: right?
• 18:50
  SPEAKER_00: Before we move forward, there may be just something we're finishing, right?
• 18:57
  SPEAKER_00: Something we're deciding to lay down or leave behind and not take with us on
• 19:03
  SPEAKER_00: the next step of our journey.
• 19:04
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 19:05
  SPEAKER_00: Or maybe simply recognizing that there's something we've outgrown.
• 19:09
  SPEAKER_00: OK, so that is happening right before the sun enters Virgo.
• 19:14
  SPEAKER_00: And then later that evening, the sun enters Virgo.
• 19:18
  SPEAKER_00: And that's where our attention begins to shift
• 19:21
  SPEAKER_00: towards those Virgo themes we've already talked about.
