- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:42weight loss hypnosis session with a bit of a difference.
- 0:46And I was working with a client that was very, very successful
- 0:51in their profession, which was in the medical industry.
- 0:54And they felt a little bit incongruent because they knew
- 0:59the consequences of eating snacks and processed food, the
- 1:03impact on their insulin, on their cholesterol, in terms of
- 1:07their overall health and well-being, and the possibility
- 1:11that it could lead to lifestyle diseases like heart disease and
- 1:15type 2 diabetes. And yet felt that it was almost
- 1:20a compulsion that there was some other part of them in control.
- 1:24They also knew that although it was giving them something that
- 1:28felt gratifying or satisfying in the short term, quite often the
- 1:32next day they would wake up with a sense of guilt or shame or
- 1:35regret. And that's a really big clue
- 1:39that they're not in integrity with their values.
- 1:43Because if you do something that perfectly aligns with your
- 1:47values, you don't regret it. You feel proud about it.
- 1:51If, however, it is linked to something that you feel shame or
- 1:57regret for, it's because your intuition is saying you're on
- 2:00the wrong path. And this client had that.
- 2:04So we use a few different things here.
- 2:06We use the hiking and nature analogy because this particular
- 2:11client, when they were at the weight that they felt the
- 2:14happiest, love to hike and they love to see waterfalls in
- 2:19nature. So that naturally is linked to a
- 2:22resource state, but then we've got this idea of two different
- 2:25timelines and they had an idea of where they were heading.
- 2:28If they continue to kind of eat takeaways late at night and
- 2:32snack late at night, they kind of knew that they're not going
- 2:36to lose as much weight as they want and they're not going to
- 2:38have the same level of confidence and they're not going
- 2:40to feel so comfortable in social situations.
- 2:43They also knew that once they make subtle changes, and by the
- 2:48way, these changes don't have to be easy.
- 2:50A lot of people are looking for easy ways to lose weight.
- 2:53But this person had got through medical school.
- 2:56They could do things that weren't easy but were
- 2:58worthwhile. And I primed that in this
- 3:01particular hypnosis session because actually you get a lot
- 3:05more pride if you do something challenging than if you do
- 3:08something that's really easy. And I would say those people who
- 3:11lose weight through liposuction aren't going to feel the same
- 3:15levels of personal pride as the same person that would lose
- 3:19weight through dietary choices and healthy habits.
- 3:22They're on different levels. The goal is not just the
- 3:25aesthetics, it's the person you become on that journey.
- 3:30And we get them to imagine that future of more confidence, more
- 3:33self esteem, better health and vitality.
- 3:36But also what was very emotive for them is that they wanted to
- 3:42feel more socially confident and they wanted to feel empowered to
- 3:48start dating again rather than just kind of living this kind of
- 3:51working and eating existence. And therefore we use that as the
- 3:55key pay off. And there's a great belief that
- 4:00I think is really useful in the world of dating, and that is
- 4:02that whatever qualities that you desire in your ideal partner,
- 4:07it's easier to find them if you have them in yourself.
- 4:10So if you want a really slim fit partner, better if you're slim
- 4:15and fit. If you want a very ambitious or
- 4:18driven partner, better if you're ambitious and driven and
- 4:22therefore that has a direct payoff because the more of the
- 4:26qualities that they wanted in their partner or these people
- 4:30that they'd be dating, the more that they could exude those in
- 4:33them self. And and I think that's a
- 4:35wonderful belief system to have. There's a lot going on here.
- 4:39It's more than just weight loss. It's a lot about the emotional
- 4:41resources and the framing of things.
- 4:44So if you've struggled to lose weight, you might get some value
- 4:46from this session. That said, it was calibrated to
- 4:49the individual that I'm working with and therefore it might be
- 4:53that you're not from a medical background.
- 4:55It might be that your goal isn't to date, but just to feel more
- 4:59energetic or sleep better. Your goal is the important
- 5:02thing. So if you do like the idea of a
- 5:05bespoke session, there will be a link in the show notes or the
- 5:08description. Or you can visit my website,
- 5:10adamcox.co.uk and you can book a free consultation call to
- 5:14discuss working with me and we'll have a chat.
- 5:17Because it might be that I end up being your hypnotherapist
- 5:19rather than just a podcast that you listen to.
- 5:22So if that's of interest, check that out.
- 5:24For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 5:27won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:44Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 5:52resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 5:58And as you exhale, feel a wonderful feeling of relief and
- 6:04release. And on the next outward breath,
- 6:08just allow your eyelids to close completely.
- 6:12That's it. And if you need to position your
- 6:16body in such a way to feel more comfortable, allow yourself to
- 6:20do that now. That's it.
- 6:25Breathing in relaxation and exhaling tension.
- 6:33Each breath takes you deeper and deeper.
- 6:42Relaxed. I want you to focus.
- 6:48Focus on the point directly behind your eyeballs.
- 6:55As you focus on that sensation, take a breath deeper in than you
- 7:01normally would, and as you exhale, exhale for longer and
- 7:08just release any tension around your eyes and just feel yourself
- 7:14sinking into that place of pure relaxation.
- 7:22That's it. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 7:26relaxed you feel. And the more relaxed you feel
- 7:32the deeper you breathe. Each breath takes you deeper and
- 7:40deeper, relaxed. And as your body relaxes, your
- 7:46imagination awakens. And I want you to imagine.
- 7:52I want you to imagine seeing a photograph of yourself in your
- 8:01future with the exact body shape that you desire.
- 8:10I want you to see yourself looking strong, healthy, slim,
- 8:20and I want you to see in that photo clues of your emotional
- 8:26state, your confidence, your self esteem, your energy levels.
- 8:38And if you could imagine what it would be like in your future to
- 8:44have that body, but also that discipline and habits that align
- 8:53with your ideal self. Let me know by nodding your
- 8:56head. And then I want you to create a
- 9:01background of that image. I want you to imagine a National
- 9:07Park with a mountain and waterfalls, and then imagine
- 9:15that version of you there in that location, wearing whatever
- 9:23you would wear to be hiking and walking around waterfalls and
- 9:28mountains. And then imagine how good it
- 9:33would feel to float into the photo, into the scene, and
- 9:40imagine being there in that nature.
- 9:48I want you to imagine the waterfalls cascade down into a
- 9:55pool that then turns into a river or a stream.
- 9:59And I want you to imagine how good it would feel to swim in
- 10:08that pool of water with that body of your ideal self.
- 10:18Feel a sense of refreshing rejuvenation.
- 10:26I want you to get a feeling that when you are connected with your
- 10:32ideal shape, good emotions flow constantly.
- 10:41I want you to connect with that feeling and then imagine drying
- 10:44off and wearing the clothes that would be ideal for a hike.
- 10:51And I want you to see a mountain, a kind of mountain.
- 10:56It would take several hours to ascend to the top and just
- 11:02imagine walking up that gradient.
- 11:07But imagine walking up feeling light, feeling strong, filling
- 11:12with energy, capability, and confidence.
- 11:18And I want you to come to the conclusion that whatever you're
- 11:23doing doesn't have to be easy in order for it to be accomplished.
- 11:32It just has to be rewarding. And rewarding just means it
- 11:38rewards you in a particular way because these snacks and foods
- 11:46that you've been eating has been giving you short term rewards.
- 11:54The reward of a taste, a texture.
- 12:00Some people call it gratification, but what if the
- 12:07price of self esteem? Confidence, personal pride, and
- 12:18feelings of high self worth is simply the cost of turning down
- 12:29those things that are temporary in the short term and tend to
- 12:36sting you with shame and guilt anyway.
- 12:43The mountain to represent a journey that you're on now.
- 12:48A transformational journey that will change how you perceive
- 12:54yourself and how the world evaluates you.
- 13:03Because people are busy. They put people in boxes.
- 13:08They make false assumptions based on things that aren't true
- 13:13but seem true. And I want you to think of the
- 13:19evaluations you've made when you see someone at a similar age to
- 13:26you that seems to be athletic or sporty or slim or healthy.
- 13:35And if you're making those evaluations about that person
- 13:42close to your age, doesn't it make sense that other people
- 13:47would be making similar evaluations about you now?
- 13:55But also, when you change, I want you to get a feeling that
- 14:03you don't need discipline and self-control as much as you
- 14:10think you do. Discipline can help in those
- 14:21moments of struggle, but I want you to get a sense that what
- 14:26really pulls you through is duty and vision.
- 14:33As you imagine hiking up this mountain, I want you to think
- 14:39about all the study you needed to do to have the career you now
- 14:45have. It would have been more
- 14:50gratifying for you to do something easier, to just listen
- 14:58to music, to just read some fiction, read a comic book even.
- 15:07But back then, you didn't. Because what was more important
- 15:13than gratification was a sense of you becoming who you wanted
- 15:23to be. And it didn't need to be easy,
- 15:30it just needed to be worth it. And you did that.
- 15:37And I want you to awaken that belief system that something
- 15:43doesn't have to be easy in order to be doable.
- 15:49It simply has to be important enough to you.
- 15:53And I want you to start thinking as you continue to climb that
- 16:00mountain of two different futures, consider it like a game
- 16:09show with two doors. You can only choose one and the
- 16:17first doorway takes you to a future one year from now where
- 16:24things carry on on their current trajectory as you imagine that
- 16:33future. Imagine seeing yourself like
- 16:35you're someone else, continuing to order lots of take out food
- 16:42on apps, see yourself in the evenings eating chocolate or
- 16:50biscuits, refine carbohydrates or snacks.
- 16:58And I want you to see how useful that would be to increase your
- 17:05self esteem, how useful that strategy would be to lower your
- 17:15cholesterol, to increase your insulin sensitivity, see
- 17:26yourself day after day doing simpler things to what you have
- 17:31been doing. Is it useful to boost your
- 17:37energy levels? Is it useful to lower your body
- 17:42fat? Is it useful to give you more
- 17:48feelings of capability and confidence?
- 17:54No good or bad, no right or wrong.
- 17:59Just is it useful? Is it useful if by doing that
- 18:06you get more guilt and shame and less pride and satisfaction?
- 18:13But imagine that carrying on for a year from now.
- 18:18And just imagine what kind of body shape or what kind of blood
- 18:25test results you could expect a year from now if you continue on
- 18:36that same pathway. And I want you to get a sense
- 18:43that in the same way it wouldn't have been useful for your career
- 18:50to read comic books or watch music videos, it was necessary
- 18:58for you to do certain things to create A cause and effect
- 19:04probability of taking your life in a particular direction.
- 19:09And I want you to feel that now is no different.
- 19:18And I want you to imagine, considering the second door a
- 19:22different timeline. But I want you to imagine that
- 19:29version of you uses emotions like a compass.
- 19:38If when you do things it gives you a feeling of pride,
- 19:42confidence, satisfaction, a sense of high self worth, then
- 19:51your intuition is saying do this more often.
- 19:56But if what you do gives you feelings of regret, guilt and
- 20:00shame, it's saying this is sending you in a different
- 20:07direction to where you really want to go.
- 20:15That's in breathing in, breathing out and allow your
- 20:20unconscious to reveal. Those subtle changes that would
- 20:25be necessary to take you to that future of being slim, healthy,
- 20:34energetic and confidence. I want you to see that version
- 20:41of you could choose to eat late into the night, but doesn't want
- 20:48to. That version of you gets a real
- 20:56sense of pride and motivation whenever they go to bed hungry,
- 21:07knowing that human biology will make the adaptations necessary
- 21:13while they're sleeping. Maybe that version of you is
- 21:19having more real food, single ingredient foods, more foods
- 21:26with protein and fibre, or perhaps water.
- 21:33Most fruit and vegetables are high amounts of micronutrients
- 21:39and water. I want you to see there is one
- 21:44thing missing from this future that takes you in the direction
- 21:48that you want to go, and that is processed foods and refined
- 21:58carbohydrates. I want you to see that that
- 22:00version of you knows that you can have sugar and flour and all
- 22:08of those processed things, but also acknowledges that it's not
- 22:14useful. I want you to imagine floating
- 22:19up above that version of you, seeing the winds, the victories,
- 22:25the milestones over that year. What are you doing differently?
- 22:35What are you eating more of? What are you eating less of?
- 22:40When's your first meal of the day and when's your last meal of
- 22:43the day? Do you have snacks in your
- 22:47cupboards or not? I want you to see that there is
- 22:53a combination of variables that makes it inevitable that a year
- 23:00from now you have that slim body with high energy, brimming with
- 23:08health and vitality and a whole new level of confidence.
- 23:18And I want you to imagine getting to the top of that
- 23:20mountain and almost seeing your life as if it's a big long
- 23:27timeline. And I want you to see that there
- 23:32are two different futures. One year from now.
- 23:38You know what the status quo will give you, but I want you to
- 23:42observe that version of you with the highest self esteem you've
- 23:48had in decades, with more energy levels, more hobbies of hiking
- 23:56and walking. But all of those changes mainly
- 24:04changed how you saw yourself and you spring in your step that
- 24:14feeling of being the version of you you want to be.
- 24:19And I want you to see that version of you looking slim,
- 24:24dressing well, going on dates. And not just any dates, the kind
- 24:33of dates that would give you a feeling of excitement and
- 24:41passion. I want you to get a feeling.
- 24:47Then quite often like attracts like.
- 24:53The confident version of you will go on dates with confident
- 24:57people. The slim version of you will go
- 25:01on dates with slim partners. The version of you brimming with
- 25:09high self esteem is going on dates with other people brimming
- 25:17with high levels of self esteem. Some people believe that you
- 25:23attract what you are, and I want you to see a future where those
- 25:29choices enabled you to be who you were always meant to be.
- 25:40And all you needed to do is to do less of the things that were
- 25:46giving you guilt and shame and regret anyway.
- 25:52Because all of that guilt and shame has always been your
- 25:59unconscious trying to steer you in a different direction.
- 26:06And every time you ignored it and repeated that unuseful
- 26:10thing, you were telling your body and your future that you're
- 26:19not worthy. And yet your unconscious and
- 26:23your intuition refused to accept that.
- 26:29That's why the guilt and the shame has been there.
- 26:33Not to punish you, but to guide you, to help you navigate to the
- 26:40future that you were always meant to arrive at.
- 26:48And there is a part of you that never wanted to sabotage you,
- 26:54never wanted to lower your confidence and self esteem.
- 26:59It was just using food as a substitute for real connection
- 27:06and real happiness. But that future version of you
- 27:12gets more happiness and connection from real progress,
- 27:19real momentum and decisions that guide you towards that future
- 27:25version of you that you've always meant to experience if
- 27:35your unconscious agrees. But it's a small price to pay to
- 27:41have less guilt, less shame, less regret and more confidence,
- 27:46self esteem, and to enable your intuition to be like a sat NAV
- 27:54guiding you in the right direction.
- 27:57Let me know by nodding your head.
- 28:03I want you to imagine floating into that future version of you
- 28:07and just imagine it's a first date you're about to go on.
- 28:15Imagine looking yourself in a full length mirror, and by the
- 28:20full length mirror there's all these snacks that you have been
- 28:26eating in the past. Chocolate, biscuits, processed
- 28:31foods. I want you to feel that you've
- 28:36got a choice. You can decide that you could
- 28:41eat the snacks but not want them, or you could eat the
- 28:48snacks and not go on the date. Whatever your unconscious is
- 28:57telling you is telling you what you value more.
- 29:03Real connection, real joy, real experiences, or just a synthetic
- 29:11substitute that will only give you shame and blame, guilt and
- 29:20regret. And if you feel that it's easy
- 29:24to turn those foods down because you want something much more
- 29:32valuable, let me know about nodding your head.
- 29:38That's it. You've now clearly communicated
- 29:43to your unconscious, and your unconscious has communicated to
- 29:46you what is really important and what you really desire, and
- 29:52these snacks just won't cut it. So it's time to float back all
- 29:58the way back to the here and the now.
- 30:02Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 30:07nose. Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your
- 30:10toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 30:14here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 30:20you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 30:26456 more alert. 7-8. Open your eyes, open your eyes,
- 30:33910 wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
