- 4:54wanted to go for a walk, but then the sky's broke loose in Chauton
- 4:59and it's stole like raining now. So yeah, I couldn't get my walking
- 5:02challenge on today. So next tomorrow it's on double time. But I am
- 5:11so proud that you are here with me today. And y'all, she got
- 5:15a little jitter, so we're gonna be nice to her. But we're gonna
- 5:18talk about this book. Okay, yes, but first tell us about yourself.
- 5:27When I'm Carolyn, Hello, I am thirty three, and well i'll
- 5:33be thirty three in June. Gemini gang, and I'm from ban Rouge,
- 5:40Louisiana born and raised. So oh, I hear that accent. Everybody loves
- 5:46my accent. I'm like going at I don't hear, but yeah, I'm
- 5:53like, okay, but yeah. I've been writing for now going on three
- 5:59years. I started out as as a reader, like I was reading like
- 6:05over one hundred books a year, and my dream was to always write my
- 6:11own books. So one day I just picked up the laptop and I just
- 6:15started writing. And I didn't know the first thing about writing a book.
- 6:19I didn't know how you weren't at a book, how you do anything with
- 6:24a book. But I just started writing and putting stuff in chapters, and
- 6:28I reached out to my publisher who I have now, which is John Nasa
- 6:33Gray, and I was like, look, I just want you to read
- 6:36over this, and you tell me if you feel like this is something that
- 6:42I should, you know, continue on because if it's stupid, letting me
- 6:46know. I want the real And she wrote me back so fast, she
- 6:51was like, yeah, you need to finish this. You need to finish
- 6:55it. I'm my girl, are you serious? And from then it has
- 7:00been amazing. This whole journey has been amazing for me, and I have
- 7:04been loving every single step, like just everything about it. I didn't know
- 7:12within my first year it was going to take me places that it is taking
- 7:16me but I am ever grateful and I just thank God for putting me in
- 7:19position to be where I am now, and I see that is beautiful.
- 7:27That is beautiful. So reader to writer, was that a big or even
- 7:34a hard transition or was it like just smooth? It was really cool,
- 7:41which I thought it was gonna be kind of difficult. It's kind of difficult
- 7:46for me now because as much as I want to read, I can't because
- 7:51I'm always working on something. So it's like I do take breaks in between
- 7:57books and I will pick up, you know, a couple of books read
- 8:00and show my supports to other authors, and I'll even give their books to
- 8:03other people. You know. That's just my way of giving back and showing
- 8:07love. You know what I'm saying, because I can't And I get it
- 8:11now, you know what I'm saying. I just don't. I can't always
- 8:15read everybody's stuff, So I find ways to support them, whether it's you
- 8:20know, gifting the book, buying the book for myself, or you know,
- 8:26sharing it, whatever I can do to help the next person. That's
- 8:30just how I look at it. And that's great. And I love the
- 8:33fact that you are helping out the authors because I really feel that. Sometimes
- 8:39authors just feel like if I'm not talking about my book, I'm not talking
- 8:41about nothing. It's like, no, you know, we all in this
- 8:43together. Let's just you know, everybody can eat at the table as long
- 8:46as everybody's doing their part at the table. So I love the fact that
- 8:50you're doing that. But I'm gonna ask you this question. Okay, do
- 8:56you feel that reading all readers can turn into authors, or even all authors
- 9:07should be readers. I guess that's the two part questions. Let's take the
- 9:11first one. Do you feel that all readers can become authors. I'm a
- 9:16kind of answer that all in one. I feel like this. I feel
- 9:22like anybody can be an author as long as you can if you put it
- 9:30in your mind and say that I can do this, you got some tough
- 9:33skin, you can do it. You have to be passionate about what you're
- 9:39doing and you're not just thinking, oh, I'm just writing a book to
- 9:41get a check or just because sometimes people do that they be thinking money wise
- 9:46and they just putting anything out there. But I feel like anybody can write
- 9:50a book, whether you're a reader or you're an author. If you got
- 9:56the talent, go for it. That's just how I look at it,
- 10:00all right, all right, so I love that. Now let's flip it
- 10:01around. Do authors need to continue to be readers? Yeah? Okay,
- 10:11I feel like you shouldn't stop something that you were passionate about doing before you
- 10:16started actually writing. Everybody had to start off reading at some point. Whoa
- 10:24you look at you at your dropping nuggets, girl, That is true.
- 10:28That's literally how I feel like. I feel like you shouldn't stop one thing
- 10:33because you made it for in that thing that you picked up. You know,
- 10:41I would never stop reading because oh I'm writing now, it's just the
- 10:45time thing. But I still find the time in between books or theories to
- 10:50pick up somebody else's book and read. Yes, I really feel that authors
- 10:54should still continue to be readers. Reason being is you want to stay in
- 10:58touch with everything. I mean, you might not be writing whatever the hot
- 11:01genre is at that point in time, but at least you are in touch
- 11:05and still in the community because you just can't drop that book and then go
- 11:11buy you an island and stay out there. You know what I'm saying.
- 11:13You need to visit because you need to eat, you need to communicate,
- 11:16you need to do all these things. So I love that. I love
- 11:18that. So, yes, you about to go to this book here all
- 11:26right? Now Romeo Romeo? Where art thou Romeo Romeo? So the subnopsis
- 11:35that I read, we'll do that game leader. We're not gonna do that
- 11:39game now, Tree, you gotta do that game leader? Who is Romeo?
- 11:46Like? What what means you want to name him? No? Romeo
- 11:52once? And why is streat king? Oh well, the correct pronunciation of
- 11:58his name is Romero Row, Mirror, Julie. I'll give you a little
- 12:07secret about me when it comes down to my books. All of my books
- 12:13have a piece of my life in me. So some of the characters are
- 12:20it's not so much as the person, but it's their personality. That's how
- 12:26I get my characters. I don't use the people. I use their personality.
- 12:33So it's people in my life but or somebody that's been in my life
- 12:37before. There's a gem in every book about Carolynd and what Caroland has dealt
- 12:45with. Yes, so Marrow, it is actually someone that I dated years
- 12:50ago, so I use his personality and that's how I created the character from
- 13:00maryl Now Passion it me. Passion is someone else, but it's their personality.
- 13:07I can't say because I'm still in contact with that person, So you
- 13:11know, I just use their personality. That's how I get my character is
- 13:16Really, I'll be sitting here and it's crazy because I'll be sitting thinking like,
- 13:20Okay, I'll get a name, and I'm like, how can I
- 13:24format this character? Like? And I'll think about somebody in my life and
- 13:28I'll be like, okay, what their personality is? Like it's so it
- 13:31matches that character. So do you ever give that person the book to read?
- 13:37Yeah, and they'd be like me, I'm like, but I'm like,
- 13:48it is but yes. Now some of the characters. Majority of the
- 13:52characters are made up because I have a wild imagination, but some of my
- 13:58main characters are are people I've either dealt with, still in contact with,
- 14:03or like I said, I just it is what I dreamed of you to
- 14:09be. So give me a little bit more of the background of the book,
- 14:18just a little bit, don't don't don't tell me much, just tease
- 14:20me a little bit. Just so, is really like Romeri, your typical
- 14:31street guy, you know what I'm saying, and he meets well, I
- 14:37can't even see how I can tell you without actually telling, I would have
- 14:46to tell you the book. I am ready to eat you gotta tell me.
- 14:50It's like that is so crazy. Let it mold fast. That's the
- 14:56thing. I will tell you that I love books like that. Yes,
- 15:01I realized that it was like that book move face. It did. I
- 15:05kind of typically liked to go slow burned into fast to kind of build the
- 15:09character. But for some reason, they were in my head like, so
- 15:13the more they were I was, yeah, and their whole relationship moved fast,
- 15:20like and I'm talking a couple of weeks span, not just oh I
- 15:26met you today, We get to know each other, you know, And
- 15:31it did kind of happened in one of my relationships like that, like we
- 15:35met and then in a couple of weeks we were together, and then a
- 15:37couple of weeks after that we were moved in together. So it was just
- 15:41like, you know, that's what I mean about using pieces of my life
- 15:43in my books. And I think that's what makes it so exciting for me,
- 15:50the life for me. Right, I made them move fast for a
- 15:58reason. So when you read, yeah, so in part two it breaks
- 16:04down everything. Yes, I had to break that book down. Okay,
- 16:12Yeah, so fright wo is coming soon. Actually, I'm thinking within next
- 16:18week. It should be. Okay, okay, okay, we're gonna take
- 16:25a break because my my feelings are hurt. But we're gonna take a break.
- 16:30And y'all know the game that I like to play, that's the character.
- 16:34I need to give that this game a real title. I'm gonna think
- 16:37about that next week. But we're gonna take a break. You guys,
- 16:41we're coming back. Come back with us. Turn off the legs, light
- 17:08a candle, tonightlemen a metant. Let's take a shower, shower together.
- 17:30I was abandoned. You was not mad and somewhat wealthy, and say jays,
- 17:52turn off the come to girl. I want to care of you.
- 18:03What special treat You're so sweet? Turn all right, you guys, we
- 18:15are back. We are back. So this section of the show, I
- 18:23don't send these questions to you because I want you to think of your head.
- 18:27Okay, but it's all concerning your characters. Okay. So if Passion
- 18:36was a rap artist, we're gonna do rap and then we'll do R and
- 18:40B. But if a Passion was a rap artist, who would she be?
- 18:45Now I'm seeing Remy Ma, the one who was in love of pathy.
- 18:52Yeah, that definitely her. Yeah, okay, okay, R and
- 18:57B. Why I was thinking Monica, Yeah, not even heard. I
- 19:10was just about maybe the old Keisha Cole okay, the one vibe. Yeah,
- 19:17so we talk about I rather cheata Keisha Cool or were talking about sing
- 19:21from Heaven Kisha Cool a mixture because she showed she shows up. Yeah,
- 19:29ool, that's scary. Yeah, that's scary. That that's that's the Keisha
- 19:33Cole miss the Eliott And I can't remember that song title, but that's the
- 19:40mixture that I'm getting. Mm hmm. You with that one though, because
- 19:48when I was reading the synopsis and I was like, the first thing,
- 19:52can my mom is really mod? Like yeah, I could see her doing
- 19:55this character. I could see her plainness. But then I started thinking king
- 20:02uh Joscelyn. But then I heard her voice in my head and I'm like,
- 20:07no, that's not that chill the whole character. Maybe one of her
- 20:10friends is a Jocelyn. Oh god, why definitely not a Jocelin. She
- 20:18is more. I would even give her an I would even give her a
- 20:23Monica or mm hmm, okay, you know what I'm saying Yeah, she
- 20:32seems like the type of chick like I'm gonna hold you down, but don't
- 20:34play with me because you'll get your feelings hurt. Period. That's definitely like
- 20:41who she is. She she was definitely like that. And you know,
- 20:45I actually love passion character. I really did. It was a joy even
- 20:51writing about her. I shocked myself because I was going one way with her
- 20:57character and then I double began was like, don't even make her like a
- 21:03little fought but then I'm gonna make her like, all right, I'm gonna
- 21:07show you you can't play with me. See that's the type of books I
- 21:11like. I mean, I don't have no problem when she falls in love
- 21:15and then she becomes almoss. She in she she falls apart, but I
- 21:19need her to build herself back up. Like that's some of the things that
- 21:23I listening. It's funny that you say that because me and my publisher had
- 21:29that conversation when I told her about this book. I told her I was
- 21:33like, look, I don't want to make her the weak one thing.
- 21:37You know what I'm saying. I kind of want to make her the I'm
- 21:44She's been through some things in life, but it made her who she is
- 21:48today one of those I know my work. Take none of your crap either.
- 21:56Once I planned up, I'm not gonna be baked out. Oh character,
- 22:03oh see see. Okay, okay, now let's say this name again.
- 22:14Romero Romero. Mm hmmm. I'm getting the vibe of okay, well,
- 22:22I'm looking at the if I'm going to movies now or TV. I'm
- 22:29getting I'm getting meat from bmth. I have a meech in there. Kay,
- 22:45okay, all right, and his character name in the book is okay,
- 22:56all right, so right now my ask me of he's one of them
- 23:03guys so well, like on the outside he's he's this, this, this,
- 23:10h but on the in side he's a frosty that baby like if I
- 23:15love you, I'm gonna submit to you kind of. But I wouldn't show
- 23:22that to the street. Okay, So okay, okay. So I'm trying
- 23:29to get the carricter in my head. I can't find somebody that's a thug
- 23:34but has said the soft side. Oh, I think you might have me
- 23:41stump. Oh Nelly, yeah, yeah, Nelly for shype, And you
- 23:52know what that's kind of like, except for he didn't well, you didn't
- 24:00really say, their relationship kind of resemble Nelly, not as much of what
- 24:07Nelly did, but the kind of the how they are now. So okay,
- 24:17okay, so okay, okay, because they do have a beautiful love
- 24:22story. Even jerk, Nellie, you were jerk. You knew you were.
- 24:27He will know. I don't like how he you know, and everybody
- 24:32got their own they do. But the fact that y'all can't, y'all you
- 24:38could truly see. I saw a meme that had him with someone else he
- 24:44was dating, and him with a shanty and he showed all thirty two teeth
- 24:49and then not yes, every time he break that out of him. That's
- 24:55who he truly loves, no matter what they've been through. That's who he's
- 25:00always wanted to be. Whenning, sometimes you end up having to spend the
- 25:07block, but hey, yeah, none make sure block is worth spending these
- 25:19days. Okay, So now let's go. If he was an r B
- 25:30person, I would give him uh tyrese and only because of the characters that
- 25:44he would be when he plays his movies. He plays thugged out characters.
- 25:49But you gotta sitting on the back of the bus say in every movie,
- 25:55never noticed it but I do get what you're saying though. Ludacris. Ludacris
- 26:08is a number one. Oh my goodness, yes, I can see that.
- 26:15I can see that all right. See look at this, y'all.
- 26:19A virgin stole my heart. I'm telling you guys, go grab it.
- 26:26It was released on Valentine's Day, yes, and it does not have that
- 26:32Valentine's Day read Thank you Jesus. Well, tell us how can we follow
- 26:41you on social media? Because we want to be there for part two?
- 26:45Okay, so can you give us all your social media contacts and everything and
- 26:49how you know readers can contact you if they would like to. Sure,
- 26:55and you can hit me up on Facebook at Carolyn journ again or Arthur's Carolyn

- 27:25really want to get in touch with me, hear me up on Facebook.
- 27:30Well, I got this on my tribut re head list. I mean,
- 27:33look, you got me book two. You're gonna have to come back Yeah,
- 27:41to come back, and we're gonna have to do a book discussion because
- 27:45yeah, I got that. I already know what part two. I'm gonna
- 27:49have a ton of questions. I already know because I shocked myself when it
- 27:56comes down to my writing, Like I would plan a book to go one
- 28:00way, and once I'm typing, it goes because howib in the beginning is
- 28:10not. I have to go back and redo it every time. Because I
- 28:17always tell authors this is a big tip for you guys. Okay, do
- 28:23not write your subsnopsis until the end of the book, and that is why
- 28:32your characters will take you in a whole separate direction. I have known ployee
- 28:38of people say I wanted the book to go this way and they turn up
- 28:41going that way. Like that's how it goes. You know, you have
- 28:48to wait to the very end to write that synopsis and then that gives you
- 28:55that that icing on the cake. That's that's the icing on the cake.
- 28:59Yeah, thank you for being here with us tonight. I greatly appreciate you.
- 29:07Ready, I'm going to promote your book. We're gonna get you back
- 29:11on here again because see, if I have to fight you because the part

- 29:21favorites. Don't do none of that. And please don't get nobody. Oh
- 29:26man, see she killed somebody. See they're gonna have to really talk with
- 29:34Part two is released. I'm telling you should be next week though. I
- 29:40we're gonna have to really come back. Yes, I know, gonna be
