- 0:00Speaker 1: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion

- 0:18Speaker 2: It's showtime, folks! Enjoy the show!
- 0:37Speaker 3: You're listening.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Are you listening to Movie Meltdown?
- 0:40Speaker 2: I'm Amanda Burse.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I hope so.
- 0:49Speaker 5: It's time for Sofa Theater. There he is, Alex Gardner,
- 0:55Speaker 5: when he was 19 years old.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I worked with him for a year and a half.
- 1:00Speaker 2: He was an authentic genius, this boy.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Exceptionally gifted. Telekinesis was only one of his talents. I
- 1:10Speaker 5: remember reading about him.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Caused quite a controversy at the time.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Then, in the middle of it, he disappeared.
- 1:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 5: He ran out on us.
- 1:21Speaker 7: After months of intensive parapsychological testing.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Didn't like being poked and prodded. Who dies?
- 1:30Speaker 3: He's perfect.
- 1:31Speaker 5: I want him.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Yes, you're right, of course.
- 1:34Speaker 5: He would be perfect.
- 1:35Speaker 8: If we can find him.
- 1:37Speaker 5: You leave that to me.
- 1:39Speaker 2: If he's alive, I'll find him.
- 2:06Speaker 9: Hey, hey, kids, rock and roll.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Nobody tells you where to go, baby.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Welcome to Movie Meltdown Sofa Theater. Once again, I am Brian.
- 2:20Speaker 5: This is Roger.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I'm Joni Still.
- 2:22Speaker 8: I'm Greg.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Marlena.
- 2:24Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:27Speaker 10: I wanted to do the rainbow thing, but I forget
- 2:30Speaker 10: this is a television show.
- 2:31Speaker 3: It's a radio show, so.
- 2:34Speaker 3: We're like, hi!
- 2:37Speaker 5: Way to get the mic waving at the microphone. You
- 2:39Speaker 5: guys can feel that, right?
- 2:41Speaker 9: This needs to be a visual.
- 2:42Speaker 5: As well as audio thing. Have you seen The Way
- 2:51Speaker 5: We Operate? Do you want to watch this?
- 2:53Speaker 3: I don't have.
- 2:53Speaker 11: Any makeup on today. Once again, think about what you
- 2:57Speaker 11: would have to look at. I mean, it's bad enough
- 2:59Speaker 11: we have to sit here and do this, but nobody
- 3:01Speaker 11: should have to witness this.
- 3:02Speaker 5: And no one will.
- 3:03Speaker 9: We'll lose viewers, listeners.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Just have to wear a lower cut shirt right I'll
- 3:09Speaker 3: just have.
- 3:09Speaker 11: To unzip yeah you might bring you might bring.
- 3:13Speaker 12: In geeks you're right yeah that would be like bringing
- 3:15Speaker 12: geeks make it all broadcast.
- 3:18Speaker 5: And we've already got you know more than most shows
- 3:20Speaker 5: so yeah it's like 50% at this point that's what.
- 3:23Speaker 9: I'm saying so 50% ladies if.
- 3:25Speaker 11: You guys want that you know we loser would show
- 3:28Speaker 11: up we don't hear from you much so if that's
- 3:31Speaker 11: what you want from us I guess you better get
- 3:32Speaker 11: a hold of.
- 3:33Speaker 9: Us yeah somehow let us know chime in.
- 3:38Speaker 11: All right, this week's Sofa Theater feature is Dreamscape, 1984,
- 3:41Speaker 11: director Joseph Rubin. The most simplified, actually, I had problems
- 3:47Speaker 11: with several of the IMDb plots, so I'm going with
- 3:50Speaker 11: the first half of the first sentence on one of them.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 3:54Speaker 5: And that's right. A government-funded project looks into using psychics
- 3:57Speaker 5: to enter people's dreams. If you stop there, it's not
- 4:00Speaker 5: wrong yet.
- 4:01Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 5: There's several others. What happens later?
- 4:03Speaker 9: Is there any way?
- 4:04Speaker 11: Well, the other one says, a man who can enter
- 4:07Speaker 11: and manipulate people's dreams is recruited by the government.
- 4:09Speaker 13: Okay, no.
- 4:10Speaker 5: No. He had no use of that before.
- 4:13Speaker 11: He's not recruited by the government specifically because of his
- 4:16Speaker 11: power to manipulate people.
- 4:18Speaker 5: No.
- 4:18Speaker 11: And then it is to help cure the president of
- 4:23Speaker 11: the United States. No, that's not what he was brought.
- 4:25Speaker 11: They didn't even know anything about that when they started
- 4:27Speaker 11: this project. So once again, wrong, wrong.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Massively wrong.
- 4:30Speaker 9: To end world peace.
- 4:32Speaker 12: I mean, wait.
- 4:32Speaker 5: You can't worry.
- 4:34Speaker 11: So, first off, giant spoiler alert, just to let you
- 4:39Speaker 11: know it's out there.
- 4:39Speaker 5: We're going to talk about Crazy Snake Man.
- 4:42Speaker 11: If you don't want to, I'll have that ruined for
- 4:44Speaker 11: you if you've been napping since 84 and you.
- 4:47Speaker 5: Haven't seen this one. Dreaming. Dreaming away. Go ahead and
- 4:51Speaker 5: go get yourself a copy. It's pretty much readily available.
- 4:54Speaker 5: It's on Netflix.
- 4:55Speaker 11: Watch instantly right now. So, yeah, it's easily accessible. Go
- 5:00Speaker 11: get yourself a version of it and watch it. Next up,
- 5:04Speaker 11: before we begin, I do want to officially add this
- 5:07Speaker 11: to the official Hall of Fame here as.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Video Boxes That Warped My Brain. Or in this case,
- 5:13Speaker 5: and the colors are a little off on this, by
- 5:15Speaker 5: the way. You guys were checking it out earlier. It
- 5:17Speaker 5: looks really bright.
- 5:17Speaker 9: It looks really beautiful.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a little different. I kind of like the original.
- 5:21Speaker 11: And I know what the original is because this, for
- 5:23Speaker 11: my purposes, falls under One Sheets That Warped My Brain.
- 5:26Speaker 11: Because I had this one sheet on my wall for years. Yeah,
- 5:32Speaker 11: for quite a while. I had probably the folded version
- 5:35Speaker 11: back when they came that way. And at some point,
- 5:38Speaker 11: probably a flea market somewhere, dorky kid that I was.
- 5:41Speaker 11: Went and tracked one down, and it hung on my
- 5:43Speaker 11: wall for a long time there. It was one of
- 5:46Speaker 11: those original ones back as a kid.
- 5:48Speaker 9: You should have laminated it.
- 5:50Speaker 5: God.
- 5:51Speaker 11: I'm sure I still have it. It's lost somewhere in
- 5:53Speaker 11: a box, but it's not like it left. God forbid
- 5:55Speaker 11: I get rid of anything. So when I come across
- 5:57Speaker 11: it again... you'll see it hanging on the wall.
- 5:59Speaker 5: More than likely. Nice.
- 6:01Speaker 11: So, yeah, I mean, it's one of the more awesome
- 6:05Speaker 11: visions ever. This is back when they actually made kick-ass
- 6:08Speaker 11: movie posters.
- 6:09Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 9: I think it is Drew Streisand, I think, who did
- 6:12Speaker 9: the art.
- 6:13Speaker 3: There hasn't been an art cover for a movie this
- 6:15Speaker 3: awesome since Adventures in Babysitter.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Which, once again, was very much like that.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 9: I think that was Drew Streason also.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:22Speaker 11: It's back when they really took the scope of the
- 6:25Speaker 11: entire movies and jammed it into one poster. And not
- 6:29Speaker 11: the way that the badly pieced together videotape covers. You
- 6:32Speaker 11: remember how horrible those were.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 6:35Speaker 5: When they would just slap.
- 6:36Speaker 11: Like, this one finds a way of working in damn
- 6:39Speaker 11: near everything that takes place in that movie in that
- 6:41Speaker 11: one image.
- 6:42Speaker 5: Yeah. And yet, it doesn't seem forced.
- 6:44Speaker 11: It doesn't seem hacked together out of, you know, just
- 6:47Speaker 11: still frames that they stole off the video.
- 6:49Speaker 5: It seems very Indiana Jones-esque.
- 6:51Speaker 11: Yeah, it's completely Indiana Jones. But it was one of those,
- 6:54Speaker 11: I went back watching it again, I'm like, no, it's
- 6:57Speaker 11: all in there. Even the cheesy torch is in there.
- 6:59Speaker 5: It's like he works in everything.
- 7:01Speaker 8: So, I mean, it.
- 7:02Speaker 9: it's a very motorbike scene yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 5: There's no horses in here you.
- 7:06Speaker 11: Were lying well we already we already covered the horses
- 7:09Speaker 11: in our dreams that's a whole different thing but but
- 7:12Speaker 11: yeah i think it's an awesome uh video box slash
- 7:16Speaker 11: one sheet and yeah that's that's the way to go.
- 7:18Speaker 14: Really The cover, not that anyone can see this, but
- 7:21Speaker 14: the cover reminds me also, at least the artwork, of
- 7:24Speaker 14: Neverending Story.
- 7:26Speaker 5: I was thinking that, yeah. I'm pretty sure you did
- 7:28Speaker 5: that too.
- 7:28Speaker 11: Once again, classic, epic packaging back when they knew how
- 7:33Speaker 11: to do it.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Every once in a while now, somebody will turn out
- 7:35Speaker 5: a good one. The kid looks like a troll, though.
- 7:38Speaker 5: He's all creeped in the back.
- 7:39Speaker 4: He looks like Sean Astin a little bit.
- 7:42Speaker 5: We can get to him. He's got a fabulous tie-in, too.
- 7:45Speaker 10: Nice.
- 7:47Speaker 5: Alright, so we've thrown out the plot. Where would you
- 7:49Speaker 5: like to begin? This was definitely one of those movies
- 7:53Speaker 5: that I remember from when I was young. Warped your brain?
- 7:55Speaker 12: And I remember that the part with the snake man
- 8:00Speaker 12: in it actually scared the shit out of me when
- 8:01Speaker 12: I was a kid. And the fact where, like, you know,
- 8:04Speaker 12: he runs through the room and it's just like, yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 12: it's my father.
- 8:06Speaker 5: He won't help us. He's like, you little bastard.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Or whatever. And then, like. I knew that was going
- 8:11Speaker 5: to be your favorite line.
- 8:13Speaker 12: Well, as they leave and it's, like, got the shadow
- 8:16Speaker 12: and the sound effects of the snake man, like.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Eating his father and his father screaming. Like, that always, like,
- 8:21Speaker 5: disturbed me for some reason. Like how the little kid
- 8:22Speaker 5: didn't even care. He's like, good.
- 8:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 5: He's like, get out of here.
- 8:26Speaker 11: That little part always reminded me of The Clash of
- 8:29Speaker 11: the Titans, because you always got the shadow of Medusa,
- 8:31Speaker 11: and to me it was a pretty close kind of
- 8:34Speaker 11: running to that.
- 8:36Speaker 12: But, I mean, this is definitely one of those movies
- 8:38Speaker 12: that I remember seeing when I was way too young
- 8:40Speaker 12: probably to watch it, and loved it ever since, even
- 8:43Speaker 12: though it did terrify me to an extent.
- 8:45Speaker 11: Definitely.
- 8:46Speaker 5: As all the good ones really do. What's his name,
- 8:48Speaker 5: the bad guy? He's awesome. The real bad guy.
- 8:53Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, the one that's usually a bad guy
- 8:54Speaker 11: in most movies and isn't is Max von Sydow.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Yeah. Who is awesome. He was totally awesome. Who is
- 8:59Speaker 5: awesome in everything.
- 9:01Speaker 11: It's funny because I just, I was sitting there watching
- 9:04Speaker 11: earlier this week.
- 9:05Speaker 5: I was watching, no. James Brute.
- 9:07Speaker 3: There's one.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Why is he in there?
- 9:09Speaker 1: Strange Brute.
- 9:10Speaker 5: There's another one that, why is he in Strange Brew?
- 9:12Speaker 5: He's awesome. He's awesome.
- 9:14Speaker 11: It's an awesome movie, but that's such a weird choice
- 9:17Speaker 11: of projects for him.
- 9:18Speaker 3: I think Strange Brew is on Netflix on the instant queue.
- 9:21Speaker 5: I'm so excited. You're going to go home and watch it.
- 9:23Speaker 9: Oh, that's a great movie.
- 9:24Speaker 5: That's fun. But no, he's in.
- 9:27Speaker 11: shutter island and i'm sitting there i'm watching it and
- 9:31Speaker 11: it's it's kind of like this one i'm sitting there
- 9:32Speaker 11: watching twitter island going you got max von siddow and
- 9:34Speaker 11: you got um ben kingsley it's like you know even
- 9:37Speaker 11: if leonardo sucked look at these two yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 5: These two on screen are fucking awesome.
- 9:43Speaker 11: And then in this one we've got a max von
- 9:45Speaker 11: siddow and then bob blair is uh christopher plumber yeah
- 9:49Speaker 11: christopher plumber is badass in this movie yeah yeah He,
- 9:52Speaker 11: and it's funny, he said this is like the other movie.
- 9:54Speaker 11: He's remembered most of the time on the street. They
- 9:57Speaker 11: say people come up mad and talk to him about
- 9:59Speaker 11: two movies this one and the sound of music two
- 10:03Speaker 11: very opposite engines of the spectrum here yeah but it's
- 10:06Speaker 11: funny that this movie makes its impression on people as
- 10:09Speaker 11: sound of music wow yeah.
- 10:13Speaker 3: What year was Nightmare on Elm Street?
- 10:16Speaker 5: That's the one I was, yeah, a whole big area
- 10:19Speaker 5: I was going to get into. No, it's 84.
- 10:21Speaker 11: It's actually, this predates it, though. It's the same year,
- 10:25Speaker 11: but they were shooting this one before that because they
- 10:28Speaker 11: came to them when they were going to do the
- 10:30Speaker 11: makeup and stuff for Nightmare on Elm Street and said, hey, who.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Did you guys use?
- 10:35Speaker 11: And the effects guys were sort of like, oh we
- 10:37Speaker 11: went with this and we did so he kind of
- 10:38Speaker 11: helped them out and pointed them in the right direction
- 10:41Speaker 11: so you can definitely feel it yeah you can and some.
- 10:45Speaker 10: Of the dream sequences were very Nightmare on Elm Street
- 10:48Speaker 10: and the part where he's fingers became nails. And also,
- 10:53Speaker 10: that guy has a very Robert Englund kind of cheesy.
- 10:57Speaker 3: I mean, he's not as quippy, but he.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Definitely has that. He throws them out there.
- 11:02Speaker 9: He's awesome.
- 11:03Speaker 5: What's he say when he, well, again, spoiler, pulls the
- 11:07Speaker 5: heart out. Again, this was a thing that... Yeah, he
- 11:09Speaker 5: actually was quippy.
- 11:10Speaker 11: Yeah, he says to our main character, Alex, Alex, have
- 11:14Speaker 11: a heart, and then throws it at him. Yeah, very
- 11:17Speaker 11: very Freddy through but again it totally like the nails
- 11:22Speaker 11: on the hand I mean they're just blades that pop
- 11:24Speaker 11: out of his fingers that's Freddy before there was Freddy
- 11:27Speaker 11: I mean I guess Freddy was probably a script at
- 11:29Speaker 11: this point but still they beat him to the screen
- 11:32Speaker 11: doing that I'm sure they.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Were similar the same people working on both movies had
- 11:37Speaker 3: to have been I mean it's just too coincidental.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Especially the time period for what was available I mean
- 11:45Speaker 6: people wise you.
- 11:46Speaker 11: Know And it was just, it's a weird point in
- 11:48Speaker 11: time for us, I guess, as movie viewers, because we
- 11:52Speaker 11: had a lot of heart ripping out too. This was
- 11:55Speaker 11: also the same year Temple of Doom came out with
- 11:57Speaker 11: its nice big heart ripping scene. So there's a lot
- 12:00Speaker 11: of hearts being ripped out of people's chests, still beating
- 12:03Speaker 11: in these movies all of a sudden, which you probably
- 12:05Speaker 11: didn't get a lot of that, you know, back in
- 12:07Speaker 11: the day. So this was a turning point in there.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Let's play a little game. All right, it's your party.
- 12:14Speaker 7: Let's pretend that a man with a little help from science,
- 12:20Speaker 7: could psychically project himself inside the dream.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Of a sleeping person. Okay, let's pretend that.
- 12:29Speaker 15: Then pretend that once inside the dream, he could become
- 12:34Speaker 15: an active participant in it. He could actually be there,
- 12:39Speaker 15: right in the middle. He could feel the dream, experience it,
- 12:47Speaker 15: shape and alter the dream itself. What would you say
- 12:52Speaker 15: to a motion like that?
- 12:54Speaker 5: That it's crazy.
- 12:57Speaker 11: This also is one of those movies, and again, I
- 13:00Speaker 11: don't think I realized it until I went back and
- 13:01Speaker 11: watched it this week, watching it today, and going back
- 13:06Speaker 11: and looking at some of the stuff going on in it.
- 13:09Speaker 11: I've discussed it many times before, how obsessed I was
- 13:11Speaker 11: with nuclear.
- 13:12Speaker 5: War as a child.
- 13:13Speaker 11: Mm-hmm.
- 13:15Speaker 5: You really see.
- 13:15Speaker 11: And I think it's just because it was so evident.
- 13:18Speaker 11: But I start to go back and look at things
- 13:20Speaker 11: that I liked a lot as a kid, like this movie,
- 13:23Speaker 11: and it's there.
- 13:24Speaker 5: And it's not.
- 13:24Speaker 9: It was in the Cold Wars when we grew up.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like.
- 13:27Speaker 11: It's not because of that. It just happens to be there,
- 13:30Speaker 11: you know? It's just sort of like that.
- 13:32Speaker 5: And I don't know.
- 13:33Speaker 11: I think that's how it worms its way into your consciousness.
- 13:36Speaker 11: Or at least at that point. Again, I think kids
- 13:38Speaker 11: now don't have that same feeling at all.
- 13:40Speaker 5: I think they.
- 13:41Speaker 11: It's probably equally as scary in a different way because
- 13:44Speaker 11: now you can just get blown up at any given moment.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Or shot.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:49Speaker 5: You're right.
- 13:49Speaker 14: When I was a kid, like you said, 83, 84,
- 13:52Speaker 14: that was the common theme when you were playing outside
- 13:55Speaker 14: with your buddies.
- 13:56Speaker 5: Oh, here comes the nuclear missiles. You know.
- 13:58Speaker 14: And actually, a kid, the next street over that I
- 14:01Speaker 14: played with him, they actually had a bomb shelter under
- 14:04Speaker 14: their house.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Which is awesome.
- 14:06Speaker 14: And we would play Rambo in there, you know, whatever.
- 14:10Speaker 14: And that was always the plot of we'd be down
- 14:12Speaker 14: inside and they had stocked canned goods. So you already
- 14:17Speaker 14: had everything there for your little war movie that you
- 14:20Speaker 14: were playing. Every day turned into Red Dawn for us.
- 14:24Speaker 5: Which is awesome, too. But, yeah, and I drove by
- 14:28Speaker 5: there not too long ago. It's still there.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Wow.
- 14:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Big mound in their backyard.
- 14:33Speaker 11: Would the current owners be upset if they just found
- 14:35Speaker 11: you playing? I'm having some sardines.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Come on out with me.
- 14:39Speaker 9: Wolverines.
- 14:40Speaker 14: We would crawl in there and play Axis and Allies,
- 14:43Speaker 14: the board game.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Yeah, nice. Bunk beds and everything. So, yeah, it was
- 14:47Speaker 5: just a game.
- 14:50Speaker 14: Part of life back then for me you know that's
- 14:52Speaker 14: it was gonna happen eventually yeah oh yeah there was
- 14:55Speaker 14: no like if it was just when.
- 14:57Speaker 11: That's and that's what we said before that i think
- 14:59Speaker 11: so shaped this entire generation of what i still say
- 15:03Speaker 11: are the reason most of us are slackers there's no
- 15:06Speaker 11: point in accomplishing anything because we're all gonna die i
- 15:10Speaker 11: think i think that factors in a lot more than
- 15:12Speaker 11: people realize i think i'd agree with that yeah yeah
- 15:14Speaker 11: i think it really sort of took and then finally
- 15:17Speaker 11: we got to that point where okay the cold war
- 15:19Speaker 11: is over shit.
- 15:21Speaker 5: I gotta get a real job right.
- 15:22Speaker 11: So you've got these people yeah you got these people
- 15:26Speaker 11: like 30 something scrambling to be like oh shit now
- 15:28Speaker 11: what do i do right so yeah i think it's
- 15:31Speaker 11: funny that yeah it to me has more of it
- 15:34Speaker 11: it's funny now looking back and seeing how much that
- 15:37Speaker 11: has affected just me in general but i think an
- 15:40Speaker 11: entire generation of kids and Again, it's not even like a.
- 15:44Speaker 5: Main theme in this movie. It's sort of the grand
- 15:47Speaker 5: scale of.
- 15:48Speaker 11: It's sort of what gets the entire end of the
- 15:50Speaker 11: movie happening and sort of leads us down the path
- 15:53Speaker 11: to the president.
- 15:54Speaker 2: But.
- 15:55Speaker 11: Yeah, not really the main focus of this movie, but
- 15:57Speaker 11: it's very overbearing.
- 16:02Speaker 14: What's funny, too, is the whole thought that, and you
- 16:05Speaker 14: just take it on face value, that the president, on
- 16:08Speaker 14: a whim, could disarm the United States. Not only push
- 16:12Speaker 14: one button to destroy everyone, but at the same time,
- 16:15Speaker 14: we could completely disarm ourselves.
- 16:17Speaker 5: I'm going to fly to Geneva, and it's over with.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 16:20Speaker 11: I mean, not like that. But, I mean, it is
- 16:23Speaker 11: one of those one person could put the system into play.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Right.
- 16:28Speaker 11: And that's what I thought this did really well is
- 16:30Speaker 11: I think it also, well, I mean, it starts off,
- 16:32Speaker 11: we can get back to the whole intro dream part because,
- 16:35Speaker 11: I mean, we haven't really gone into that.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:37Speaker 11: But, I mean, you get that first, like, 45 minutes
- 16:39Speaker 11: of movie that's just about the dream thing. You know,
- 16:42Speaker 11: entering people's dreams and we learn about all that. It
- 16:45Speaker 11: really doesn't bring in the president plot towards the end.
- 16:49Speaker 11: I mean, we touch on it in the beginning and
- 16:51Speaker 11: it does a really good job of setting it up,
- 16:52Speaker 11: which is kind of cool because it doesn't seem forced
- 16:55Speaker 11: in there.
- 16:56Speaker 5: It seems like they set it up really well. They
- 16:58Speaker 5: paste everything really nicely.
- 16:59Speaker 11: And by the time they bring it in, it doesn't
- 17:01Speaker 11: seem because I mean, if you work in a story
- 17:03Speaker 11: about a normal guy and then all of a sudden
- 17:05Speaker 11: he's dealing.
- 17:05Speaker 5: With the president, it could seem very ridiculous.
- 17:08Speaker 11: But they do a nice job of like slowly kind
- 17:10Speaker 11: of working us up to that point.
- 17:12Speaker 5: And it makes sense, you know, by the end of it.
- 17:14Speaker 11: I don't know it does a good job of sort
- 17:16Speaker 11: of taking the basic plot line of what's going on
- 17:19Speaker 11: with the dreams and then working in this this presidential
- 17:21Speaker 11: plot which on its own is almost a movie like
- 17:25Speaker 11: you could almost do right an entire movie whereas they're
- 17:27Speaker 11: they're using dreams to assassinate the president which is.
- 17:30Speaker 5: What they're doing people yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 11: Just to different well i mean and so that i
- 17:35Speaker 11: think that's the part that i think once again they
- 17:36Speaker 11: do a good job on is i think it's very
- 17:38Speaker 11: realistic in the way that Once again, anytime our government
- 17:41Speaker 11: gets a hold of something, what can we do to
- 17:43Speaker 11: use it as a weapon? Because initially, I'm sure they
- 17:47Speaker 11: wanted to use it on foreign leaders. Like he says, oh,
- 17:49Speaker 11: this guy, you know, this guy in whatever country, insert
- 17:52Speaker 11: your guy we've been trying to kill for the last,
- 17:54Speaker 11: you know, umpteen years now. And we can't get a
- 17:56Speaker 11: hold of him. Well, you send some guy over there,
- 17:58Speaker 11: put him in his dream, and take him out. And
- 18:01Speaker 11: you don't have to physically even come in contact with
- 18:04Speaker 11: him to kill him, which is what we really want.
- 18:06Speaker 14: But doesn't that seem almost extremely inefficient? Like, if you're
- 18:09Speaker 14: close enough to lay down and sleep next to the person,
- 18:13Speaker 14: just kill him. Why did you have to develop this
- 18:15Speaker 14: elaborate plot when they could have just walked in and
- 18:17Speaker 14: killed the president where they were?
- 18:20Speaker 3: This is true.
- 18:21Speaker 5: They could have just gave him the sedative and went.
- 18:22Speaker 11: Like, especially with the president it's harder to do that
- 18:29Speaker 11: a regular person yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 5: You just go shoot the person i mean it happens
- 18:32Speaker 5: every day.
- 18:33Speaker 14: But even still the secret service were down the hall
- 18:35Speaker 14: nobody they were the worst looking secret service i've ever
- 18:42Speaker 14: seen too they seem very unofficial.
- 18:45Speaker 5: They didn't have the same outfits on.
- 18:47Speaker 9: Yeah, that's like Secret Service.
- 18:49Speaker 5: One was Burberry. You're fired. You wore the wrong color suit.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I've been lied to by the Secret Service before. I
- 18:56Speaker 3: have personal beef. You've been lied to by the Secret Service?
- 19:01Speaker 10: Yes. Before he was president, but before President Obama was president,
- 19:04Speaker 10: he came... To the street where I work and filmed
- 19:07Speaker 10: a commercial. And the Secret Service lady... And, of course,
- 19:12Speaker 10: the Secret Service people are kind of dicks.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Sorry. I hope I don't go to prison for saying that.
- 19:15Speaker 5: It's part of your job.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I respect it.
- 19:17Speaker 5: You will get audited.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Probably. But the Secret Service lady... Like, we had to
- 19:24Speaker 3: shut down for a whole day.
- 19:25Speaker 11: And.
- 19:26Speaker 10: It pissed me off because Obama's commercial was like, I
- 19:29Speaker 10: support small businesses.
- 19:30Speaker 3: I'm like, you're fucking shutting us down for a.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Day, dick.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Right?
- 19:34Speaker 5: Yes.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Fuck your mother. Didn't mean to call the president a dick.
- 19:38Speaker 11: Sorry.
- 19:38Speaker 5: I didn't mean it.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I didn't mean it.
- 19:40Speaker 5: I don't mean it.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I like the president.
- 19:42Speaker 5: If an accident befalls you, we know what happened.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I'm trying to not go to jail for the rest
- 19:49Speaker 3: of my life here. I'm not making any threats towards
- 19:51Speaker 3: the president.
- 19:52Speaker 5: I like our president.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I'm telling a story. And the Secret Service lady was like, hey,
- 19:57Speaker 3: since you all are standing around not doing anything, help
- 20:00Speaker 3: us put up these barricades. She's like, we'll get you
- 20:02Speaker 3: all some lunch. And half the guys in my kitchen
- 20:05Speaker 3: were like, okay. And I was like, what the fuck
- 20:07Speaker 3: are you guys doing? You don't work for him. You
- 20:09Speaker 3: work for me.
- 20:09Speaker 5: Get back here.
- 20:10Speaker 3: I was like yelling at them. And they never got
- 20:14Speaker 3: free lunch out of it.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Scammed by the president. Scammed by the government. Just that
- 20:21Speaker 5: Secret Service bitch. Still, this is his group of people
- 20:25Speaker 5: at work.
- 20:26Speaker 3: But, I mean, I was, of course, outside yelling like
- 20:29Speaker 3: a maniac. You didn't work for him.
- 20:31Speaker 5: You worked for me.
- 20:32Speaker 9: Get back here.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Once again, I wouldn't hold it against him. I would
- 20:35Speaker 5: have called them government whores.
- 20:37Speaker 11: I wouldn't hold it against him as long as he
- 20:39Speaker 11: shows up now and, like, buys him a Big Mac
- 20:41Speaker 11: or something.
- 20:42Speaker 5: Like, here you go, guys. Come on. You need to
- 20:43Speaker 5: write a letter to your congressman.
- 20:45Speaker 3: You shut down my business for a whole damn day.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Promise me lunch today.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Just send an angry email to the president. See how
- 20:52Speaker 5: that goes. Anyway.
- 20:55Speaker 3: It's a great idea.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Listen, you owe me lunch.
- 21:01Speaker 9: Lunch!
- 21:01Speaker 3: I just want some Jimmy John's now.
- 21:02Speaker 5: Apparently we just picked up a whole lot of militia listeners. Right?
- 21:08Speaker 5: In Michigan, weren't we talking about Michigan? Yeah, we were
- 21:10Speaker 5: talking about Michigan.
- 21:11Speaker 11: But no, I think that's what this does that it
- 21:13Speaker 11: does pretty well is it sets up that whole presidential
- 21:15Speaker 11: assassination plot that worked almost as its own storyline. And
- 21:20Speaker 11: then I think while we're on the whole realistic government,
- 21:23Speaker 11: I think that part is very realistic. The fact that
- 21:26Speaker 11: this man that's in power as presidents come and go
- 21:29Speaker 11: really does kind of run way more than people will
- 21:31Speaker 11: ever get. And it's how our government works way more
- 21:34Speaker 11: than people want to think about. But I think it's
- 21:37Speaker 11: also funny that when he sees something going on that
- 21:39Speaker 11: he doesn't like. this sinister bastard that he is like
- 21:42Speaker 11: he really would just take steps to for the again
- 21:46Speaker 11: he would yeah he would convince himself for the safety
- 21:49Speaker 11: of my country i'm taking this guy out even if
- 21:51Speaker 11: he's my friend and i've known him for years like
- 21:54Speaker 11: poor george.
- 21:54Speaker 5: Went okay we've taken a left.
- 21:58Speaker 11: Turn we got taken out poor eddie albert because he's
- 22:03Speaker 11: gonna screw him over but luckily we'll get to that
- 22:06Speaker 11: later Okay, but yeah, I think the presidential part was
- 22:09Speaker 11: kind of cool. And the fact that I think most
- 22:11Speaker 11: government agents, well, especially somebody on his level, would very
- 22:14Speaker 11: easily take someone out, even his own president, if he
- 22:17Speaker 11: thought it was going to keep us on the road
- 22:20Speaker 11: that we are. Everyone in politics has a very set
- 22:23Speaker 11: mind of where they think we need to be. Even now,
- 22:26Speaker 11: even people sitting at home right now will very gladly
- 22:29Speaker 11: bitch about.
- 22:29Speaker 5: The government, as, you know, sometimes we do when they
- 22:31Speaker 5: don't buy us lunch.
- 22:33Speaker 11: But, yeah, everybody's kind of got their mindset of how
- 22:36Speaker 11: our government needs to be running things, especially during the
- 22:38Speaker 11: Cold War. So something as major as, you know, disarmament
- 22:42Speaker 11: of our country, I could see people taking somebody out,
- 22:45Speaker 11: even a president, over something like that. So I think
- 22:47Speaker 11: that part was kind of cool, too, because it felt
- 22:50Speaker 11: kind of real, actually. I could see that going on
- 22:52Speaker 11: behind the scenes.
- 22:53Speaker 14: Plus, something like that had to be in the film,
- 22:58Speaker 14: because otherwise it could have just become a horror movie,
- 23:02Speaker 14: because it would have just been individually based, these are
- 23:04Speaker 14: these characters, and what's at stake for them? But when
- 23:07Speaker 14: you take it to a global scale, it becomes what's
- 23:09Speaker 14: at stake for everyone, and much less of a haunted
- 23:13Speaker 14: house horror movie, like Nightmare on Elm Street. That's the
- 23:16Speaker 14: way they differ. If you don't have the president, you
- 23:18Speaker 14: don't have the.
- 23:19Speaker 11: Movie that you have, a sci-fi... Yeah, it could have
- 23:23Speaker 11: changed things if they started with a different plot line
- 23:27Speaker 11: midway through and they just focused on something else.
- 23:29Speaker 5: It would definitely change the scope of it. It does
- 23:31Speaker 5: become a huge.
- 23:32Speaker 11: Thing that, like, he is saving the country, if not
- 23:35Speaker 11: the world, by helping this one guy. Whereas if it
- 23:38Speaker 11: was just more crazy sex dreams, you know, it would
- 23:41Speaker 11: go down a very different road.
- 23:44Speaker 9: Interesting, nonetheless, but different.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Definitely.
- 23:46Speaker 12: I don't know if they just met up with all
- 23:48Speaker 12: kinds of different psychics and, you know, in the back
- 23:50Speaker 12: they mentioned scanners. And how it would have been cool if,
- 23:52Speaker 12: you know, they teamed up and then had a big
- 23:55Speaker 12: dream war, like a dream rumble, where they all, like,
- 23:58Speaker 12: got together in one dude's head and just, like, fought
- 24:00Speaker 12: it out.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Oh, like Inception?
- 24:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 9: I really want.
- 24:05Speaker 5: To see that. That's what led us to this movie.
- 24:08Speaker 5: This is our version of Inception.
- 24:10Speaker 14: Which, you know, a lot of things were, I'm not
- 24:13Speaker 14: going to talk about Inception, but there were some things
- 24:15Speaker 14: that were pulled from Inception that had to have been.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Yeah. Nolan watching it as a younger gentleman, or I
- 24:20Speaker 5: guess kid at that point. Older kid, I think. Yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 5: I'm sure many times he saw this on cable, as
- 24:26Speaker 5: all of us did.
- 24:27Speaker 14: He used this, I'm sure you say, inspiration for the show,
- 24:30Speaker 14: inspiration for the movie. I'm sure he used it.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know how you could make a movie
- 24:35Speaker 5: about dreams and not. I mean, assuming you grew up
- 24:39Speaker 5: in this country.
- 24:39Speaker 11: Because once again, this isn't something that nobody ever saw.
- 24:43Speaker 11: It didn't do well at the box office, I'll tell
- 24:45Speaker 11: you that. But by the time it hit VHS, by
- 24:48Speaker 11: the time it hit cable, it ran on cable constantly. So...
- 24:53Speaker 11: It is one, and even now. I mean, it was
- 24:54Speaker 11: on earlier this week on Showtime. It's on Netflix right now.
- 24:59Speaker 11: I mean, it's not like this movie has not wormed
- 25:02Speaker 11: its way into people's consciousnesses in many, many forms over
- 25:05Speaker 11: the years.
- 25:05Speaker 5: So it's, yeah, definitely I'm sure it had to tie
- 25:08Speaker 5: in a little bit with that. All right, do you
- 25:10Speaker 5: want to go into Norm now?
- 25:12Speaker 11: Norm!
- 25:13Speaker 6: Norm!
- 25:14Speaker 11: Norm!
- 25:14Speaker 5: I did yell that. We do meet him in a
- 25:17Speaker 5: bar for the first time. Right, yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 14: Yeah, he wasn't believable as a writer to me, but
- 25:23Speaker 14: I'm not going to get.
- 25:24Speaker 5: He just didn't seem... I don't know if he was.
- 25:27Speaker 14: Just a plot device to, hey, we've got to get
- 25:30Speaker 14: this guy some information, but it just didn't fit in
- 25:35Speaker 14: the movie. I remember thinking he runs out to meet
- 25:37Speaker 14: him outside of the.
- 25:40Speaker 14: The facility i'm thinking why how did he get there
- 25:43Speaker 14: how did they know to contact each other how did
- 25:45Speaker 14: he all of a sudden show up it just it um.
- 25:48Speaker 11: Happened what was really funny is when he's standing there
- 25:51Speaker 11: outside there and you're like how did he get there
- 25:53Speaker 11: there's also a bike leaning up against i was like
- 25:55Speaker 11: okay george went did not ride that bike i'm sorry
- 25:58Speaker 11: i've seen george went he ain't riding no bike around.
- 26:01Speaker 14: Well then they start they start running from him it's
- 26:03Speaker 14: like I'm sure Dennis Quaid would be way ahead of
- 26:06Speaker 14: him at that point.
- 26:08Speaker 5: He's trying to drag him along.
- 26:10Speaker 11: I mean, no offense, Norm, but you're not a track star,
- 26:13Speaker 11: neither am I.
- 26:14Speaker 5: No.
- 26:16Speaker 11: It's one of those, it's weird, and this wasn't their
- 26:19Speaker 11: fault in this movie, because when they shot this, he
- 26:21Speaker 11: wasn't Norm, he was.
- 26:23Speaker 5: on cheers but basically.
- 26:24Speaker 11: Nobody was watching it i think it was the first
- 26:26Speaker 11: season when really nobody cared about it back when you
- 26:29Speaker 11: could have a show that would run a season or
- 26:31Speaker 11: two and nobody cared about it you don't get that
- 26:33Speaker 11: it didn't get canceled in the first year yeah instantly
- 26:35Speaker 11: you get six shows now six episodes and if you're
- 26:38Speaker 11: not making tons of viewers would come you know to
- 26:41Speaker 11: them every week you're canceled so yeah that was back
- 26:44Speaker 11: when you could ride it out for a couple of
- 26:45Speaker 11: years and This network would actually get behind you.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Imagine that.
- 26:49Speaker 11: But no, at that point, he was still kind of
- 26:52Speaker 11: an unknown actor. So when they cast him, he was
- 26:54Speaker 11: just a guy and they cast him. But by the
- 26:56Speaker 11: time you watch it now, like when he came on screen,
- 26:59Speaker 11: I yelled out Norm. So yeah, it does sort of,
- 27:04Speaker 11: I mean, it's one of those that does sort of hurt.
- 27:07Speaker 11: It definitely did with him. It sort of hurt his career.
- 27:09Speaker 11: Because he became that character. He really, I mean, he
- 27:12Speaker 11: didn't have a ton of movies after Cheers started. So
- 27:16Speaker 11: it's a good thing that Cheers was successful. But at
- 27:18Speaker 11: the same time, yeah, it totally killed his whole career.
- 27:22Speaker 5: And John Razenberry. I mean, short of, you know, Woody.
- 27:25Speaker 5: We didn't really get anybody that salvaged. He gets to
- 27:29Speaker 5: be in every Pixar movie.
- 27:33Speaker 11: He's got a fun voice, but you don't have to
- 27:35Speaker 11: worry about his visual.
- 27:38Speaker 5: He'll always be Cliff Clavin. Yeah, he's Cliff Clavin forever.
- 27:41Speaker 5: He has a show on the Travel Channel or.
- 27:44Speaker 3: The Food Network. The Made in America.
- 27:48Speaker 5: He's done some stuff.
- 27:49Speaker 11: He actually was in an independent movie a couple years ago.
- 27:52Speaker 3: You know what I really hate?
- 27:55Speaker 5: I don't think so. That was Dave Thomas.
- 27:57Speaker 11: Oh, yeah!
- 28:01Speaker 5: Very close. I'm not sure how he got that job. Oh, wait,
- 28:05Speaker 5: he created Wendy's.
- 28:06Speaker 14: Oh, wait.
- 28:06Speaker 5: He was Wendy's.
- 28:07Speaker 11: Oh, shit.
- 28:14Speaker 3: It was worth a try, guys.
- 28:17Speaker 10: Shelley Long had a long and illustrious career after Cheers,
- 28:21Speaker 10: or maybe it was before or during.
- 28:23Speaker 5: No, it was sort of around the time.
- 28:25Speaker 14: She left it to become the big movie. And then
- 28:28Speaker 14: she sort of tanked after that.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Troop Beverly Hills was my favorite movie as a child.
- 28:32Speaker 5: It was another failed movie. I don't know if that
- 28:34Speaker 5: was enough to save her. I think everything after she
- 28:37Speaker 5: left Cheers kind of went downhill.
- 28:38Speaker 1: It was.
- 28:38Speaker 10: The one where she was supposed to, hello again, where
- 28:41Speaker 10: she was supposed to be dead.
- 28:42Speaker 5: She reincarnated.
- 28:43Speaker 3: My mom loves that movie. Loves it.
- 28:45Speaker 5: I've watched all those movies.
- 28:47Speaker 11: I'm not going to say they're good, but yeah, I've
- 28:49Speaker 11: probably seen damn near every one. But yeah, so it
- 28:52Speaker 11: just being on something that popular does sort of hurt
- 28:55Speaker 11: your credibility when coming into a serious project because idiots
- 28:58Speaker 11: are going to yell at Norm like me.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 29:00Speaker 11: But it's also funny what, I mean, I think it
- 29:02Speaker 11: was just a big plot device, but it's funny. He is, um,
- 29:07Speaker 11: Charlie Prince, um, which was not even a veiled version
- 29:12Speaker 11: of Stephen King.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:13Speaker 5: I mean, even the creators come out and.
- 29:15Speaker 11: Said, yeah, this was just our little alternate world version of,
- 29:18Speaker 11: he's basically playing a Stephen King character. So he was like,
- 29:22Speaker 11: and even the book, when he pulls it out, looks
- 29:24Speaker 11: like his used to, like that 80s run of books
- 29:27Speaker 11: looked exactly like.
- 29:28Speaker 5: That when he pulled out.
- 29:29Speaker 11: So it's, yeah, they're just using, and again, it's something
- 29:31Speaker 11: that was really huge at that time. I mean, Stephen
- 29:34Speaker 11: King as a writer then probably even more than now, was,
- 29:38Speaker 11: you could.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Get no bigger. He was massive at that point.
- 29:42Speaker 14: Put out anything and people would buy it.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, everything he did went crazy. I mean,
- 29:48Speaker 3: turned into a movie, everything.
- 29:50Speaker 5: He was huge.
- 29:51Speaker 11: So it's kind of, yeah, I mean, it's definitely all
- 29:53Speaker 11: these little tie-ins that were tie-ins sort of because of
- 29:56Speaker 11: the time they were. Now, I don't know, I guess
- 29:59Speaker 11: it'd have to be like J.K. Rowling or somebody.
- 30:01Speaker 5: Stephanie Meyer.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Yikes. Do you want to share some throw up? Back
- 30:08Speaker 3: to Dennis Quaid.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Okay, would you like to go into Dennis Quaid?
- 30:12Speaker 14: Was it in his contract to have.
- 30:15Speaker 5: His shirt off at least like 20% of this movie?
- 30:18Speaker 3: I hope so.
- 30:19Speaker 5: It was off all the time. He took like four
- 30:21Speaker 5: showers in the movie.
- 30:23Speaker 3: He was the cleanest, well-groomed Dennis Quaid ever.
- 30:27Speaker 5: This was back, yeah, back when they were making use
- 30:29Speaker 5: of him.
- 30:29Speaker 11: Because I actually do mention, like, the shot where he
- 30:31Speaker 11: gets up out of bed and walks by in his underwear.
- 30:33Speaker 11: The director or the writer, one of them specifically put
- 30:36Speaker 11: that in. They were like, okay, you're in shape.
- 30:38Speaker 5: We're going to use it. So here, you're going to
- 30:40Speaker 5: do this.
- 30:41Speaker 11: So he made him wear that, which is pretty much nothing.
- 30:44Speaker 5: And shoot that. Yeah, work that one in.
- 30:47Speaker 1: All right.
- 30:48Speaker 3: They were like the colored frilly looms. There was like
- 30:51Speaker 3: zero female nudity. I know. Or suggestive anything. Well, there
- 30:55Speaker 3: was a little bit of suggestive in her dream.
- 30:58Speaker 5: Which I was okay with. Oh, they kissed and they
- 31:00Speaker 5: hugged violently. That was it. Violent hugging.
- 31:04Speaker 11: It's one of those, it's a very, it's funny because
- 31:06Speaker 11: it is like a very girly dream. Like it is
- 31:08Speaker 11: one of those, it suddenly becomes a Harlequin romance novel scene.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:11Speaker 11: Everything's very like smoky and they're both wearing white i
- 31:15Speaker 11: mean it definitely has a very like.
- 31:18Speaker 5: Girly feel about it yeah.
- 31:20Speaker 11: That was like but it's funny looking at all the
- 31:23Speaker 11: other dreams about it i.
- 31:25Speaker 14: Think i would get seasick from being on the train
- 31:28Speaker 14: it was she was like convulsing.
- 31:30Speaker 10: Sitting on the fucking train but that'd be awesome imagine
- 31:34Speaker 10: how awesome it would be to Make sweet love in
- 31:36Speaker 10: a train.
- 31:37Speaker 9: Make sweet, sweet love in a train.
- 31:39Speaker 5: They didn't make love. They kissed and they hugged. They
- 31:43Speaker 5: jumped around a little bit with their clothes or her
- 31:45Speaker 5: clothes on. Well, I mean, it wasn't going to happen.
- 31:48Speaker 5: I mean.
- 31:50Speaker 3: She was pretty upset after it happened the first time.
- 31:52Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Remember, we all yelled, dream rape.
- 31:54Speaker 11: Dream rape.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Dream rape.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Dream rape. She needs a dream rape whistle.
- 32:00Speaker 5: That is pretty creepy.
- 32:03Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 32:03Speaker 5: You know, if it was the.
- 32:05Speaker 6: Other kid doing it, I'd be like, ooh, that's creepy.
- 32:06Speaker 6: But it's just Quaid doing it. So I was like, okay,
- 32:09Speaker 6: I'm okay with this.
- 32:10Speaker 5: Yeah. This does not go against my morality at all.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 3: She was like, how dare you? But I kind of
- 32:15Speaker 3: liked it.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:17Speaker 5: You would just wake up and be like, quit wasting
- 32:19Speaker 5: your time with a dream. Get the hell over here.
- 32:21Speaker 6: Right.
- 32:22Speaker 5: I'm winning. Not what you would do, Rod.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Oh, my bad.
- 32:29Speaker 6: I just got this really weird image of you and
- 32:32Speaker 6: young Dennis Quaid.
- 32:33Speaker 3: She liked it.
- 32:34Speaker 5: This is not you and Randy Quaid. Oh, there it is.
- 32:39Speaker 5: The other brother. He just pulled a beer out of
- 32:42Speaker 5: his back pocket. That's the thing.
- 32:44Speaker 3: I could get into.
- 32:45Speaker 11: That, too.
- 32:46Speaker 5: You do have odd taste in you.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Shut up.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Not that odd.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Jesus Christ. While playing Lenny from A Mice and Men.
- 32:54Speaker 5: I do hear she likes them special. Are you talking about.
- 33:01Speaker 9: I just like guys who are jerks.
- 33:05Speaker 3: I don't like guys who are retards.
- 33:07Speaker 5: I was just doing the callback.
- 33:09Speaker 11: Sometimes.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Sometimes they are both, I guess.
- 33:12Speaker 11: But that is funny. That was something I was thinking. Well,
- 33:15Speaker 11: number one, I was thinking about the young version of
- 33:17Speaker 11: It Is Quaid. I'll get to that in a minute.
- 33:19Speaker 11: But it then reminded me. Young version of Dennis Quaid
- 33:22Speaker 11: was studly back in the day. There was never a young,
- 33:24Speaker 11: hot version of Randy Quaid.
- 33:27Speaker 5: No, he always looked like that. He always looked like that.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Poor bastard.
- 33:32Speaker 11: Yeah, you got to feel a little bad because they're
- 33:34Speaker 11: from the same gene pool. You know, he had to
- 33:36Speaker 11: grow up and be like, mother.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Fuck, look at that bastard. He's like, how did, how did,
- 33:41Speaker 3: what the hell?
- 33:42Speaker 5: Mom, he's my real dad. I'm going to work at it.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Doesn't just come easy. Why would he become an actor?
- 33:48Speaker 5: That's what I want to know. Why would you even
- 33:49Speaker 5: want to do that?
- 33:50Speaker 11: He's not a bad actor. He just always looked like that,
- 33:54Speaker 11: the poor bastard. So what are you going to do?
- 33:56Speaker 5: I would have been an attorney. But it is funny.
- 33:59Speaker 11: That that reminded me of the difference with the Dennis Quaid.
- 34:02Speaker 11: Because you're looking at Dennis Quaid was kind of like
- 34:04Speaker 11: he plays it very different. Like if you gave this
- 34:06Speaker 11: to somebody else, which if Misty were here, she would
- 34:10Speaker 11: be thrilled to find out who the other casting choice.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Their first.
- 34:14Speaker 11: person that they were trying to get on this is
- 34:16Speaker 11: john snyder so beau duke would have been this lead
- 34:20Speaker 11: had they gotten their way i guess that i think
- 34:22Speaker 11: he was working on something else so they.
- 34:24Speaker 5: Just kind of their other bear their other version.
- 34:27Speaker 11: How is greg evigan and it's sad that i know
- 34:29Speaker 11: that so bj and the bear the movie when are
- 34:34Speaker 11: they gonna bring that out.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Oh god we need to write letters.
- 34:39Speaker 11: Nothing like a man and his monkey so but yeah
- 34:42Speaker 11: there was I mean they bring in Dennis Quaid was
- 34:44Speaker 11: their other big choice that they wanted and so but
- 34:48Speaker 11: he plays it very differently than I think he would
- 34:50Speaker 11: have given it to most other like leading men at
- 34:52Speaker 11: this time and I think it's just because that's the
- 34:54Speaker 11: way he was if you go back and watch anything
- 34:56Speaker 11: and because he was like king of the 80s like
- 34:59Speaker 11: I saw so many things with him and like a
- 35:01Speaker 11: lot of my favorite movies at that point were with
- 35:03Speaker 11: Dennis Quaid so it's like I thought he was awesome
- 35:06Speaker 11: then and I go back and watch it now and
- 35:07Speaker 11: he's so like he's kind of like Everything is sort
- 35:11Speaker 11: of smirky with him. He's got the very jokey thing.
- 35:15Speaker 11: I think just because he's got that grin and he
- 35:16Speaker 11: likes to work it into the movies as much as possible.
- 35:19Speaker 11: But then it's like you fast forward. Look at him
- 35:21Speaker 11: at stuff now. He can't really pull that off now.
- 35:24Speaker 11: We watched him in Legion last year. He just did
- 35:28Speaker 11: the I'm kind of a pissed off old man role.
- 35:31Speaker 5: He's just moved into... What was the space thing he
- 35:35Speaker 5: was in? Space King?
- 35:38Speaker 11: That was Kate Capshaw. We're on the right road. No,
- 35:42Speaker 11: the one that just came out this year, Pandora. Did
- 35:45Speaker 11: you see that?
- 35:46Speaker 14: That was about visually as dark of a movie as
- 35:50Speaker 14: I've ever seen. I don't even know what the fuck
- 35:51Speaker 14: was going on.
- 35:53Speaker 5: I can't hardly see anything.
- 35:56Speaker 11: But yeah, that's what I said on the Legion episode.
- 35:59Speaker 11: I was like, suddenly he's in everything again. He was
- 36:01Speaker 11: in one movie a year for a long time, and
- 36:03Speaker 11: this last two years, he's been in five movies a year.
- 36:06Speaker 5: All of a sudden, he's back. I can't think of
- 36:08Speaker 5: one besides Pandorum. Pandorum.
- 36:11Speaker 8: What else?
- 36:11Speaker 5: He was in Legion. He was in.
- 36:14Speaker 11: G.I.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Joe.
- 36:15Speaker 3: G.I.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Joe. There you go. Oh, that's right. He was in G.I.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Joe.
- 36:17Speaker 11: Yeah, so it's like he was in all these semi-big
- 36:20Speaker 11: properties of me.
- 36:21Speaker 5: All together.
- 36:23Speaker 11: But now it's like he doesn't play it that way.
- 36:25Speaker 11: He's really changed as a person, I guess, or at
- 36:29Speaker 11: least as an actor.
- 36:30Speaker 5: Maybe he's just more pissed off now. He can't pull
- 36:32Speaker 5: that off anymore.
- 36:32Speaker 11: He can't be the smirky young kid anymore that he
- 36:35Speaker 11: played in all those movies for that 20-year span there.
- 36:40Speaker 11: He kind of pulled it off longer than most people
- 36:42Speaker 11: could have gotten away with it, but... I don't know
- 36:44Speaker 11: if he just came to terms with the fact that
- 36:45Speaker 11: he's an old man now, or somebody finally directed him
- 36:48Speaker 11: in a different direction, but he's very different now.
- 36:51Speaker 6: I think if I could go back in time, I
- 36:53Speaker 6: would prefer to see him as Indiana Jones.
- 36:57Speaker 3: I'm not going to lie.
- 36:58Speaker 5: And I love Harrison Ford. Wow. That's crushing.
- 37:00Speaker 6: I love Harrison Ford. But I would just want to
- 37:03Speaker 6: see it, just to see... The different shape.
- 37:06Speaker 5: It's better than Tom Selleck, I'll give you that.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Oh, God, yes.
- 37:09Speaker 5: That was the original casting.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:11Speaker 5: Really?
- 37:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:12Speaker 5: That's awesome. That was who they originally wanted.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I could have gone both ways with that movie.
- 37:17Speaker 6: No.
- 37:17Speaker 2: God.
- 37:18Speaker 5: That would have been horrible. He's got the wrong kind
- 37:21Speaker 5: of charisma. Yeah.
- 37:22Speaker 9: I love Tom Selleck.
- 37:23Speaker 5: I don't hate Tom Selleck.
- 37:24Speaker 11: But I think, yeah, he's a very different performer, and
- 37:27Speaker 11: you would not have gotten Indiana Jones out of him.
- 37:30Speaker 11: We would have gotten one movie, not three or four,
- 37:32Speaker 11: if you count that one. So, yeah, I don't think
- 37:34Speaker 11: you would have had the success of Indiana Jones. You
- 37:37Speaker 11: would have had Raiders that would have gone horrible, and
- 37:39Speaker 11: nobody would have.
- 37:40Speaker 5: Gone to see it. Now, Quigley Down Under, on the
- 37:42Speaker 5: other hand, was awesome.
- 37:44Speaker 11: But he's one of those that his movie career never
- 37:47Speaker 11: really took off. Like, he's in a lot of movies.
- 37:50Speaker 11: None of them were ever really big. Like, you know,
- 37:52Speaker 11: at that point, he was making, like, High Road to China.
- 37:55Speaker 11: Who likes that movie?
- 37:56Speaker 5: Nobody. Who saw that movie in the theater? Nobody.
- 37:59Speaker 10: So.
- 38:00Speaker 5: It's not like it.
- 38:01Speaker 11: Again, I think Raiders of the Lost Ark probably would
- 38:04Speaker 11: have just become another one of those. It would have
- 38:05Speaker 11: been your High Road to China of that year.
- 38:08Speaker 5: And it would have totally tanked. And, yeah. So, Spielberg,
- 38:12Speaker 5: at least you got something right.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Until you hit four. Yeah. But, speaking of things he got,
- 38:17Speaker 5: Kate Capshaw. So, this is what led to that, actually.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:21Speaker 11: She was... in dealing with the casting, I think after
- 38:25Speaker 11: they saw her in this, or it was the same
- 38:27Speaker 11: year that she got cast. Actually, I think they said
- 38:29Speaker 11: she got cast, like she got the official word. She
- 38:32Speaker 11: was cast in temple of doom during the shoot of this.
- 38:36Speaker 11: She got it while she was on set shooting this.
- 38:37Speaker 11: So this led to her becoming, cause really she wasn't
- 38:40Speaker 11: a very big star at this point.
- 38:42Speaker 5: She'd done like one other.
- 38:43Speaker 11: Movie before this, which is odd because she's really good
- 38:46Speaker 11: at it. Like I think she plays it. She's another
- 38:49Speaker 11: one of those. I noticed there's a lot of nonverbal stuff.
- 38:52Speaker 11: that little like look that she gets when he reads
- 38:54Speaker 11: her mind is fucking awesome. Like it said everything she
- 38:59Speaker 11: could have said in that one little look. And then
- 39:01Speaker 11: like the look she gets when she wakes up and
- 39:03Speaker 11: we all dream rape.
- 39:05Speaker 5: Right.
- 39:05Speaker 11: It's like amazing because she didn't have to say a
- 39:08Speaker 11: goddamn thing.
- 39:09Speaker 5: She looked at him with that look and stormed out
- 39:10Speaker 5: of the room and you were like, oh shit, he's screwed.
- 39:13Speaker 5: We're bound.
- 39:14Speaker 11: So yeah, she did a lot of really cool stuff
- 39:17Speaker 11: in this for, you know, not being a lead role. She,
- 39:19Speaker 11: she actually kind of pulls off a pretty decent performance.
- 39:23Speaker 5: And then to the.
- 39:24Speaker 11: Table this led her to temple of doom which she's
- 39:27Speaker 11: really annoying him but you know now she's got more
- 39:29Speaker 11: money than god because because of that movie she married
- 39:32Speaker 11: steven spielberg so.
- 39:34Speaker 5: Yeah, she can do whatever the hell she wants. I
- 39:36Speaker 5: want sleeping with Steven Spielberg's like.
- 39:38Speaker 8: No, I don't.
- 39:39Speaker 11: Cha-ching, cha-ching.
- 39:41Speaker 5: Oh, wait.
- 39:43Speaker 10: Can you imagine what it would be like to sleep
- 39:45Speaker 10: with a director that probably like.
- 39:46Speaker 3: A little to the left.
- 39:47Speaker 5: Right?
- 39:48Speaker 3: Cut!
- 39:49Speaker 5: Hold on, this lighting's off.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Take two.
- 39:50Speaker 5: Let me move this lamp over here. Can we get
- 39:52Speaker 5: a gaffer in here? Stunt double. Finish this out for me.
- 39:56Speaker 3: I got some shit to do.
- 39:58Speaker 11: Fluffers.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Oh, he can get fluffers. Don't you?
- 40:02Speaker 11: Oh, yuck.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Wow.
- 40:03Speaker 11: The whole.
- 40:05Speaker 10: idea of a fluffer is just weird weird.
- 40:08Speaker 11: Hey it's an occupational hazard what do you want.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Yes so i thought you were singing a.
- 40:16Speaker 5: Song i thought you were doing the right.
- 40:18Speaker 16: Stuff You know, New Kids on the Block is the
- 40:30Speaker 16: sound of pain to me.
- 40:31Speaker 5: That's true.
- 40:33Speaker 10: I do equate New Kids on the Block and KOTB
- 40:36Speaker 10: with pain.
- 40:37Speaker 5: I won't argue that, actually.
- 40:40Speaker 10: Unless you're Donnie, and then I associate you now only
- 40:45Speaker 10: with Tom Selleck, which is just purely awesome.
- 40:47Speaker 3: What?
- 40:48Speaker 5: What just happened? You've been out for a while.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Tom Selleck.
- 40:53Speaker 5: What were your dreams like?
- 40:53Speaker 3: New TV show.
- 40:54Speaker 5: What? Yes.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Wow.
- 40:57Speaker 10: Yes.
- 40:57Speaker 9: I don't know what that is.
- 40:59Speaker 6: I loved him in Band of Brothers, so I'm okay
- 41:00Speaker 6: with this, because my dad kind of looks like Tom
- 41:02Speaker 6: Selleck as well. Well, my dad circa 1985, 6, looked
- 41:06Speaker 6: like Tom Selleck.
- 41:07Speaker 5: That's kind of awesome. Are you going to call him
- 41:08Speaker 5: fat now? Yeah.
- 41:09Speaker 14: No, now my dad looks like Eric Carpenter. Sigourney Weaver
- 41:12Speaker 14: and Tom Selleck.
- 41:13Speaker 5: That's awesome. This is a nice setup you got going.
- 41:15Speaker 5: That's what this would look like.
- 41:18Speaker 9: And Tom Selleck.
- 41:22Speaker 6: For those of you at home, you can't know that yet.
- 41:25Speaker 5: There's not a picture from the site. But she doesn't
- 41:27Speaker 5: have a huge mustache.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I do.
- 41:28Speaker 3: I do. She just shaved this morning. Look at this. Lord, lord, lord.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Oh, lord.
- 41:39Speaker 11: That's, yeah, that's the most of our cast there. We've
- 41:41Speaker 11: gone through the four main ones. We can go into
- 41:44Speaker 11: the kid just a little bit. The Danny Bonaduce ripoff?
- 41:48Speaker 5: Although he wasn't a bad actor. No, he wasn't a
- 41:51Speaker 5: bad actor.
- 41:51Speaker 11: He did a decent job, actually. Because I saw him
- 41:52Speaker 11: and I had that same reaction of, ugh. Because he
- 41:55Speaker 11: is not an attractive child.
- 41:56Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 41:56Speaker 3: He's the scariest ginger child I've seen.
- 41:58Speaker 5: In a while.
- 41:59Speaker 11: He actually comes from a family of unattractive children. First
- 42:03Speaker 11: of all, his name, his quotation name, and I always
- 42:06Speaker 11: love quotation names in movies as it's running by on
- 42:09Speaker 11: the screen. You're like, this is Corey Bumper, air quotes.
- 42:14Speaker 11: How do you get the name Bumper? Was he, like, pinball?
- 42:17Speaker 5: Where do you get that?
- 42:19Speaker 11: But I'll finish the last name, and it's sad that
- 42:21Speaker 11: this was my first thought, and it turned out to
- 42:23Speaker 11: be true.
- 42:23Speaker 5: Corey Bumper Yothers. And I went, is that Tina's brother?
- 42:28Speaker 11: Yep.
- 42:28Speaker 10: Wow.
- 42:28Speaker 11: Tina Yothers, star of Family Ties. Also another very unattractive child, actually.
- 42:33Speaker 11: She had a lot of awkward moments. Yeah, and the
- 42:36Speaker 11: thing is, she grew out of it. Like, I don't
- 42:38Speaker 11: think she's unattractive now. When she had her rock band,
- 42:41Speaker 11: which went nowhere. Sorry about that, Tina, but it did. Yeah,
- 42:45Speaker 11: she grew up and became a normal looking woman. But yeah,
- 42:48Speaker 11: as a child, oh my God, she was not attractive.
- 42:51Speaker 5: I'm like, what went wrong in that family?
- 42:53Speaker 11: She was the Randy Quaid of that family. Michael J. Fox,
- 42:57Speaker 11: Justine Bateman, and you?
- 42:59Speaker 3: Come on.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 43:00Speaker 5: How do you get two? Well, I guess if you
- 43:02Speaker 5: get two right, you've got to have one going wrong.
- 43:05Speaker 5: All you've got is the leftover bad genes. That's right.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Me and my little brother are decent looking people, but
- 43:11Speaker 6: my older brother looks like an escaped monkey.
- 43:14Speaker 10: You've been so nice describing your family today.
- 43:19Speaker 5: That's true. Tom Selleck, Simone Weaver, and a monkey. And
- 43:25Speaker 5: a monkey. I don't need to go to my other
- 43:28Speaker 5: session this week, though. When we post your picture, can
- 43:31Speaker 5: we just have a family photo? Yeah, right.
- 43:35Speaker 6: I'm going to bring in a picture of my parents
- 43:37Speaker 6: and you're going to look at them and go, holy shit,
- 43:39Speaker 6: it's Tom Selleck and Sigourney Weaver.
- 43:41Speaker 5: I want you guys at a barbecue. Fucking Ripley making
- 43:45Speaker 5: a hot dog and a monkey jumping around in the background.
- 43:48Speaker 5: Magnum waxing the car. This is what I want to see.
- 43:57Speaker 9: Magnum wax.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Could you get her.
- 44:01Speaker 5: A paper bag?
- 44:02Speaker 3: Once again, we've killed Joanie.
- 44:23Speaker 5: This is the meltdown portion of the movie.
- 44:26Speaker 11: We do have one every episode it seems.
- 44:30Speaker 3: She's been moved to tears.
- 44:36Speaker 5: You back? Man, we're back.
- 44:42Speaker 9: You play music with this thing?
- 44:44Speaker 5: That's a matter of opinion. Who the hell are you?
- 44:47Speaker 3: Tommy Ray Blattman.
- 44:49Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Paul told me about you. You're the Neil
- 44:54Speaker 5: Armstrong of dreamwinking, right?
- 44:56Speaker 2: Right.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Just like walking on the moon.
- 44:59Speaker 5: Yeah? Listen, I'm gonna put on some clothes. Wanna go
- 45:03Speaker 5: down and have a couple of beers?
- 45:04Speaker 10: Why?
- 45:06Speaker 5: I don't know. I just thought maybe.
- 45:07Speaker 3: I know what you want.
- 45:07Speaker 7: I knew it the second I saw you.
- 45:12Speaker 5: You want my secrets.
- 45:14Speaker 2: No, I don't.
- 45:14Speaker 5: I just want some advice.
- 45:17Speaker 9: I don't give advice. I'm in this with me, myself,
- 45:21Speaker 9: and I.
- 45:22Speaker 5: That's it.
- 45:23Speaker 11: Sorry.
- 45:25Speaker 5: Novotny gives me free reign, know why? Must be your
- 45:28Speaker 5: sparkling personality. Because I'm the only guy, Alex.
- 45:33Speaker 11: I'm the only guy who.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Can do it.
- 45:36Speaker 5: What about Edward Sims? They had to carry him away
- 45:39Speaker 5: in a basket. Yeah, well, Novotny seems to think I'll
- 45:44Speaker 5: be able to do it. I'll order your basket.
- 45:48Speaker 11: Now, we did just touch on the other main character,
- 45:52Speaker 11: who would be Tommy Ray Glattman. Now, is there more
- 45:55Speaker 11: of a, like, assassin name ever I mean that really
- 45:59Speaker 11: is gonna be somebody you're seeing on the news as
- 46:01Speaker 11: they haul away assassinating somebody so it's it's not you
- 46:04Speaker 11: know it's not Tommy Ray yeah his name's Tommy Ray
- 46:07Speaker 11: for God's sakes he is a gunman if ever I
- 46:09Speaker 11: saw one he's just in.
- 46:10Speaker 3: His dream Tommy Ray.
- 46:11Speaker 11: Gun Tommy Ray Gunman not Blackman he knew Kung Fu
- 46:18Speaker 11: because he saw what was it Enter the Dragon six
- 46:20Speaker 11: times six whole times he makes you an expert.
- 46:24Speaker 14: Which is a throwback to another Max von Sydow film
- 46:28Speaker 14: when he says, I've seen Jedi 17 times when they're
- 46:32Speaker 14: playing hockey.
- 46:33Speaker 8: I've seen Jedi 17 times.
- 46:38Speaker 5: Oh, Rick Moranis, you're funny. You're a dork. We love you.
- 46:42Speaker 5: You're a dork.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Let's not even go there, people.
- 46:44Speaker 5: Some of us love you a little more than others.
- 46:46Speaker 5: A little more. When it comes to Bob and Doug McKenzie,
- 46:50Speaker 5: I'm right there with you. Oh, man.
- 46:53Speaker 11: But no, the actor, oddly enough, also has three names.
- 46:57Speaker 11: David Patrick Kelly... is fucking awesome. He's in a lot
- 47:01Speaker 11: at this time period, but still, he needed to be
- 47:04Speaker 11: in more. Because I look at him in this, I'm like,
- 47:06Speaker 11: why was he not the villain in every fucking movie
- 47:09Speaker 11: for the entire 80s and 90s?
- 47:12Speaker 5: Because he is awesome in this movie.
- 47:14Speaker 14: The scene that sold me on him in this movie
- 47:17Speaker 14: was when he's sitting there eating the sandwich, the close-up
- 47:21Speaker 14: of him eating that sandwich and drinking the Coke and
- 47:24Speaker 14: being a badass who just Spoiler alert, killed someone. And
- 47:29Speaker 14: Quaid's all in his face. And he just continues delivering
- 47:32Speaker 14: his lines. and eating that sandwich. That's a good actor.
- 47:37Speaker 14: He did a fantastic job.
- 47:38Speaker 5: That's the one, yeah.
- 47:39Speaker 11: He's just kind of creepy in the first part of
- 47:42Speaker 11: that movie, but by the time you get to that scene,
- 47:43Speaker 11: you're like, holy shit, this is a villain, if ever
- 47:47Speaker 11: there was one.
- 47:48Speaker 9: I think I'm scared. You should be.
- 47:50Speaker 5: I don't want to go to sea. Dude is fucking creepy.
- 47:52Speaker 3: I mean, at first I just thought he was an
- 47:53Speaker 3: annoying little douchebag. He was like, I'm going to play
- 47:55Speaker 3: this trumpet. Saxophone.
- 47:58Speaker 5: Saxophone, what else? Somebody at home was bitching you.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 48:04Speaker 5: You want my secrets.
- 48:05Speaker 3: You just lost friends.
- 48:06Speaker 14: I know.
- 48:07Speaker 3: Me, of all people, I should know more about.
- 48:10Speaker 5: I was kind of surprised, actually, that you did.
- 48:12Speaker 3: It was just a slip. I knew that it was
- 48:15Speaker 3: a saxophone.
- 48:16Speaker 5: I was just calling it. Making sure nobody else had
- 48:18Speaker 5: to bit it. One's a horn, the other one's a
- 48:20Speaker 5: reed instrument. Come on.
- 48:22Speaker 11: We do get called out for shit wrong all the
- 48:25Speaker 11: time by Naked Eskimo.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Yeah but uh i was just like god this guy's
- 48:29Speaker 3: an obnoxious douche i hope he kicks him in his
- 48:31Speaker 3: balls or punches him or something i mean that's annoying.
- 48:34Speaker 11: But once again he plays that pretty amazing too because
- 48:37Speaker 11: it's consistent he never has a moment that he's not
- 48:40Speaker 11: that douchebag i mean he any minute that he walks
- 48:43Speaker 11: in like he just walks up behind him while he's
- 48:45Speaker 11: sketching that hey what are you a cartoonist you know
- 48:48Speaker 11: just everything is like and the thing is you know
- 48:49Speaker 11: that jacket I mean, if you take it down a
- 48:52Speaker 11: notch and a half, you've worked with that guy.
- 48:54Speaker 5: You know, he's just... Oh, you went to school with him. Yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 5: it's like, you're never safe with this motherfucker.
- 48:58Speaker 11: Everything you say, he's gonna turn around and, like, just
- 49:01Speaker 11: be a jerk.
- 49:02Speaker 5: About it, you know? He's just abrasive. You can't, yeah.
- 49:06Speaker 11: You can't have a conversation with him, and that's pretty
- 49:08Speaker 11: much how he is in this. He's a jerk in
- 49:10Speaker 11: every moment he's on screen. And he likes Bruce Lee. Which, again, that,
- 49:15Speaker 11: I mean, the nunchuck scene is pretty fucking awesome. Even
- 49:18Speaker 11: though he gets schooled as soon as he has to
- 49:20Speaker 11: use them. But the fact that he's got basically lightsaber
- 49:24Speaker 11: nunchucks is fucking awesome.
- 49:25Speaker 5: With little maces on the end. Pulled him out of nowhere.
- 49:29Speaker 3: I would have had to pay George Lucas for that.
- 49:31Speaker 9: Nah, screw that.
- 49:32Speaker 3: Because doesn't he get pissed anytime anyone uses something that looks.
- 49:35Speaker 5: Remotely like a light saber?
- 49:37Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 49:38Speaker 9: I'm pretty sure.
- 49:39Speaker 5: Yeah, glow sticks.
- 49:40Speaker 10: I'm surprised he doesn't go to raves and start taxing
- 49:43Speaker 10: all the fucking rave kids.
- 49:44Speaker 5: You owe me a dollar. You owe me a dollar.
- 49:46Speaker 5: You owe me a dollar. Play school had to stop
- 49:48Speaker 5: making the glow worm. No. That's mine. Actually, you know what?
- 49:53Speaker 3: I went to a rave the other day. It was
- 49:55Speaker 3: sort of, well, it was more like a backyard dance party.
- 49:57Speaker 3: And they didn't have glow sticks. They had sparklers. I
- 50:00Speaker 3: was like, I feel like I'm at an old time rave.
- 50:02Speaker 5: It's light.
- 50:03Speaker 3: It's burning. It's burning each other.
- 50:05Speaker 14: It's like 1,200 degree sparklers and we'll dance around.
- 50:11Speaker 11: Come on back to the old timey rave. We're going
- 50:14Speaker 11: to have some lemonade and get the sparklers out.
- 50:17Speaker 14: Yeah, no, really.
- 50:17Speaker 5: I was like.
- 50:18Speaker 3: I kept yelling that and no one got it. I'm like, oh,
- 50:21Speaker 3: Tom Rafe!
- 50:22Speaker 5: Oh, Tom Rafe!
- 50:22Speaker 3: And they're like, what? Whatever.
- 50:26Speaker 5: Somebody's got a bunch of lightning bugs tied together. You
- 50:31Speaker 5: kids are getting out of control. You're not going to
- 50:32Speaker 5: get any cookies.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Yeah, they've just got a little jar. They've got a
- 50:36Speaker 3: mason jar full of lightning bugs and they're like.
- 50:38Speaker 5: Dancing around with it. They've got a lightning bug on
- 50:43Speaker 5: their tongue.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Old time rave.
- 50:51Speaker 5: Old time rave. Anyway. Now that would be a movie. Wow.
- 51:00Speaker 5: It's just big band swing music.
- 51:03Speaker 11: Actually, I don't know that that would work as a movie,
- 51:06Speaker 11: but it's starting next week on TLC.
- 51:07Speaker 5: Yeah. Join us for Old Time Rave this week. With midgets.
- 51:12Speaker 5: With midgets.
- 51:13Speaker 3: And a girl with no face.
- 51:14Speaker 5: And one special boy.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Why did we just get transported back in 1859?
- 51:27Speaker 11: Because we're retarded.
- 51:33Speaker 8: All right, enough of that.
- 51:34Speaker 5: Let's talk about these moving pictures.
- 51:37Speaker 3: I'm going to have a huge themed party now.
- 51:40Speaker 5: Huge.
- 51:40Speaker 3: It's going to be huge.
- 51:41Speaker 10: People are going to be forced to dress up like
- 51:44Speaker 10: it's 1899 and listen to phonographs and lightning bugs and
- 51:47Speaker 10: jars and rave.
- 51:48Speaker 3: Dancing and stuff. Can we get Megadeth on phonograph? As
- 51:51Speaker 3: long as we can make it sound old-timey. Okay, I
- 51:53Speaker 3: think we can do that.
- 51:56Speaker 5: Hey, what movie did we watch this week? Anyway... Dream Cat? No.
- 52:02Speaker 5: David Patrick Kelly, fucking awesome. Yes. That was my original point.
- 52:06Speaker 11: Yeah, he's the villain in many key movies at this point.
- 52:10Speaker 11: If you haven't seen Warriors, holy shit, go watch it.
- 52:13Speaker 11: What was it, Warriors?
- 52:15Speaker 5: If you've not seen Warriors, we have to watch Warriors. Yeah.
- 52:19Speaker 5: But yeah, Warriors is awesome. Fucking The Crow.
- 52:23Speaker 8: He's awesome in The Crow.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Twin Peaks.
- 52:27Speaker 5: Twin Peaks.
- 52:28Speaker 11: Again, that's his more understated role, but yeah, go watch
- 52:31Speaker 11: him in Twin Peaks.
- 52:32Speaker 5: Yeah, he was creepy. He's creepy, but it's so normal.
- 52:36Speaker 11: Because he's always so over the top, and those other
- 52:38Speaker 11: three roles are massively over the top, villainous. That one,
- 52:43Speaker 11: he's a very realistic guy. He's a businessman, he's always
- 52:47Speaker 11: got his own little interest at heart, and.
- 52:50Speaker 5: But there's always something else kind of going on there.
- 52:52Speaker 11: You always assume that he's guilty of more than really
- 52:54Speaker 11: he actually is by the end of the show. But,
- 52:56Speaker 11: I mean, as the series goes on, I don't think
- 52:58Speaker 11: he's even all that tied to most of the evils
- 53:00Speaker 11: going on there. He just always seems like he is
- 53:02Speaker 11: because he's a slimy bastard, and that's why I love
- 53:05Speaker 11: the guy. So where is David Patrick Kelly these days?
- 53:08Speaker 5: Yeah, what's he been doing? I'm going to have to
- 53:10Speaker 5: go track him down. I don't know. But why isn't
- 53:13Speaker 5: he at the next convention we go to? That would
- 53:16Speaker 5: be awesome. Oh, I don't know.
- 53:18Speaker 3: I don't think I'd want to talk to him.
- 53:19Speaker 6: I'd be like, no, I'd be like, dude, I bought,
- 53:24Speaker 6: I bought, I brought three bottles with me.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Do it.
- 53:28Speaker 5: So we've, okay. We've done all the stars.
- 53:31Speaker 11: At least let's touch on the dreams here because I
- 53:34Speaker 11: think that's, that's the key of this. I mean, we,
- 53:36Speaker 11: we go into this, the guy gets recruited to go
- 53:38Speaker 11: into dreams. And that's all just sort of build up,
- 53:41Speaker 11: that first 20 minutes of setup. And then from there,
- 53:43Speaker 11: we enter into that recording studio that they call the
- 53:46Speaker 11: dream area. It just looks like a recording studio.
- 53:51Speaker 5: With dentist chairs in the middle of it. And then, yeah.
- 53:54Speaker 11: So from there, we go into all the dreams. So
- 53:57Speaker 11: the steel worker wins pretty quick. It was just get
- 53:59Speaker 11: a taste of it. Let's see, where do we go
- 54:02Speaker 11: from there? Do we want to go into the sex dream?
- 54:05Speaker 11: The one with the husband and wife?
- 54:06Speaker 3: There was a dream after that, though.
- 54:08Speaker 5: I think the second one was the sex dream, where you, yeah,
- 54:10Speaker 5: the toupee guy. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 54:12Speaker 3: Oh, okay. I was thinking of the sex dream.
- 54:15Speaker 5: Way hotter wife? No, not the, yeah. I was thinking
- 54:18Speaker 5: of the sex dream with the girl.
- 54:19Speaker 3: Not the train sex.
- 54:19Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah.
- 54:20Speaker 3: That one was weird.
- 54:21Speaker 5: This is the one with the priest with his pants down.
- 54:23Speaker 3: That was more like a dream that I would have.
- 54:25Speaker 3: See that?
- 54:26Speaker 5: It's one of those.
- 54:26Speaker 11: I remember at the time thinking maybe that crossed the
- 54:29Speaker 11: line into funny a little too much. But looking at
- 54:32Speaker 11: it now, I'm just like, no, this is just a dream.
- 54:34Speaker 11: I mean, you have dreams that make no sense. And
- 54:36Speaker 11: the part that makes it awesome to me, and granted
- 54:39Speaker 11: this is... horrible in the real world but it makes
- 54:41Speaker 11: it a dream she's cheating on her husband with his
- 54:45Speaker 11: brother in front of the children yeah.
- 54:50Speaker 5: It's the in front of the children line.
- 54:53Speaker 11: That i was just like okay i'm sold that's pretty
- 54:55Speaker 11: that's that's a dream that's a fucked up dream if
- 54:58Speaker 11: ever you've.
- 54:58Speaker 14: Had yeah so yeah and who was the The Asian
- 55:02Speaker 14: safari guy?
- 55:03Speaker 5: What was that?
- 55:04Speaker 11: I'm assuming he's the cliche gardener. Because they did have
- 55:07Speaker 11: a fucking huge house. So I'm sure they also had
- 55:10Speaker 11: a gardener. So of course he would have to be
- 55:11Speaker 11: an Asian gardener. Because they couldn't afford a Mexican gardener?
- 55:15Speaker 5: I don't know. And they do the gong when he
- 55:17Speaker 5: looks at him. And I'm like, really? It almost seemed
- 55:19Speaker 5: like a.
- 55:22Speaker 14: Out of out of an episode of benny hill like
- 55:24Speaker 14: if yakety sax came on it would have been a
- 55:27Speaker 14: benny hill.
- 55:27Speaker 5: Episode yeah kind of all my dreams are like.
- 55:29Speaker 11: That that's true you do hear that in all of
- 55:32Speaker 11: your dreams don't you oh but yeah i mean that
- 55:35Speaker 11: one you have to have one that's just sort of
- 55:36Speaker 11: fucked up in that way or it doesn't seem like
- 55:38Speaker 11: i mean you're you're looking at them going these aren't
- 55:40Speaker 11: real dreams that one's a real fucked up dream you're
- 55:43Speaker 11: like whoa okay and And I like that just basically
- 55:46Speaker 11: his fear in his dream is that everyone is screwing
- 55:49Speaker 11: his wife.
- 55:51Speaker 6: The priest like crosses him and he's like, I don't
- 55:53Speaker 6: worry about it, I'm Jewish.
- 55:55Speaker 3: What's that even important?
- 55:55Speaker 5: Why aren't you kicking everybody's ass right now? There's just
- 56:00Speaker 5: too many people she's screwing.
- 56:01Speaker 14: They cut back to the office where they're discussing it
- 56:06Speaker 14: with Quaid and Max von Sydow and they're just laughing
- 56:09Speaker 14: at him like, yeah, he thinks everybody's fucking his wife.
- 56:12Speaker 5: And they are.
- 56:13Speaker 11: And they are.
- 56:14Speaker 5: More than likely.
- 56:15Speaker 11: I mean, where else would all that deep-seated fear come from?
- 56:18Speaker 11: Probably she's on the side nailing people. Well, if you
- 56:21Speaker 11: have a toupee, you obviously can't perform in bed. And
- 56:24Speaker 11: you've seen that guy. I mean, it's not like he's
- 56:26Speaker 11: really like, you know. How he even got that wife,
- 56:28Speaker 11: I'm not really sure.
- 56:29Speaker 14: Whatever.
- 56:29Speaker 3: He had a sweet fucking suit. I would do him.
- 56:33Speaker 5: You get a nice car and a nice house.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Speaking of dreams, did I ever get to discuss my
- 56:37Speaker 3: Don Knotts dream?
- 56:38Speaker 5: I don't think you did on here. Online, we discussed it.
- 56:41Speaker 3: Don Knotts, huh? I just want to get this out.
- 56:44Speaker 5: Since we're in the middle of dreamscape, it's not that far,
- 56:47Speaker 5: so go ahead.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 56:48Speaker 3: A couple of weeks ago, I had a dream for
- 56:50Speaker 3: some reason. I don't know if I was his publicist
- 56:52Speaker 3: or his friend. There was nothing sexual going on, but
- 56:56Speaker 3: I was.
- 56:56Speaker 10: Living in an Airstream trailer with Don Knotts, Airstreams are sweet.
- 57:01Speaker 5: Yeah, this is awesome as far as I'm concerned.
- 57:06Speaker 3: Between Andy Griffith's show and Ghost in Mr. Chicken, I
- 57:09Speaker 3: would assume. Probably closer to Ghost in Mr. Chicken era.
- 57:13Speaker 5: That's a decent time frame for him. It's not Mr.
- 57:15Speaker 5: Furly years. I was thinking Scooby-Doo and Don Knotts. No,
- 57:18Speaker 5: that's about the right time. That's late 60s.
- 57:21Speaker 10: Yeah, late 60s Don Knotts. And every morning, he'd wake
- 57:26Speaker 10: up really early in the morning. I left this part
- 57:28Speaker 10: out when I was describing it online. But I'd have
- 57:30Speaker 10: to turn the shower on for him. And get a
- 57:33Speaker 10: towel for him and lay out clothes. And then he
- 57:35Speaker 10: would take a shower at like 5 in the morning.
- 57:37Speaker 10: And he'd be like, alright, let's go to Denny's. Let's
- 57:39Speaker 10: get some breakfast.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Let's go to Denny's. So every morning, I would do
- 57:42Speaker 3: an Airstream trailer with Don Knotts. And every morning at
- 57:44Speaker 3: 5 in the morning, he would beg me to take
- 57:47Speaker 3: him to Denny's for breakfast.
- 57:48Speaker 14: I'm going to have to get a publicist to turn
- 57:50Speaker 14: on my shower.
- 57:51Speaker 5: I can't find the towels.
- 57:53Speaker 3: It was awesome. He shoots himself in the foot somehow. Yeah,
- 57:59Speaker 3: my dreams are pretty sweet.
- 58:00Speaker 14: As long as he's wearing an ascot. I think he
- 58:03Speaker 14: would be the perfect sidekick. In general. Yeah, come on,
- 58:07Speaker 14: let's go.
- 58:07Speaker 10: I've been looking for someone who's a lot like Don
- 58:09Speaker 10: Knotts my whole life.
- 58:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I can see that. I do. I can't argue.
- 58:14Speaker 11: Actually, what's weird, just to fill in, again, total side note,
- 58:17Speaker 11: but the other day, and most of the time, my
- 58:21Speaker 11: dad and I have totally different movie tastes and never
- 58:24Speaker 11: have any sort of tie-in, but the other day I
- 58:27Speaker 11: was massively impressed... And reminded me that he is, in fact,
- 58:30Speaker 11: my father when he quoted The Ghost and Mr.
- 58:32Speaker 9: Chicken.
- 58:33Speaker 10: You know, that is one of the movies that me
- 58:36Speaker 10: and my mom have in common.
- 58:37Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 58:37Speaker 5: Well, that doesn't even seem like his kind of movie.
- 58:39Speaker 5: I mean, you've seen my dad. I was just like,
- 58:41Speaker 5: where did that come from?
- 58:43Speaker 3: Nor does it seem like a movie my mom would
- 58:44Speaker 3: be into. Yeah.
- 58:45Speaker 5: It's everybody loves don knots that's.
- 58:47Speaker 3: The moral they grew up with him i guess.
- 58:50Speaker 14: Or finally your dad was like i've got to connect
- 58:52Speaker 14: with brand i'm gonna drop a movie line just so
- 58:55Speaker 14: that i can connect with him i can't remember anything
- 58:57Speaker 14: okay it goes to mr jake we did that.
- 58:59Speaker 6: Back in the day we found like the quotes.
- 59:02Speaker 11: I mean most of the the stuff that i'm into
- 59:04Speaker 11: like stemmed from stuff that he liked it's funny that
- 59:06Speaker 11: like he grew out of it but i didn't like
- 59:09Speaker 11: as he got older, he didn't care about it as much.
- 59:12Speaker 11: I got into it more and more.
- 59:14Speaker 5: He didn't plan on moving out of it because we
- 59:16Speaker 5: were going to have a nuclear war. That's true. So
- 59:18Speaker 5: why would I bother having grown-up interest?
- 59:21Speaker 8: Fuck it.
- 59:21Speaker 5: I like dreamscape. Just like when it came out.
- 59:24Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 59:25Speaker 10: But I think I may have already mentioned this too,
- 59:28Speaker 10: but I just need to reiterate how horrible and sad
- 59:30Speaker 10: and creepy this is to me. Like, every night my mom,
- 59:35Speaker 10: because I've had to stay there because my electricity's been out,
- 59:37Speaker 10: she'll be.
- 59:38Speaker 3: Like, our man's on TV! And I'm like, oh God,
- 59:41Speaker 3: who's she talking about? She's talking about my name is Earl.
- 59:44Speaker 3: And I'm like... Damn it, I really do actually love
- 59:47Speaker 3: Jason Lee a lot.
- 59:48Speaker 5: Hell yeah.
- 59:49Speaker 3: And I'm just like, me and my mom, we have.
- 59:50Speaker 5: A man together.
- 59:51Speaker 3: Like, we share love for Jason Lee, and that is sad.
- 59:55Speaker 5: Me and my mom have one of those.
- 59:57Speaker 6: It's, and mine's sadder, because at least yours is Jason Lee.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Mine's Randy Orton from WWE. Yeah.
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: But he's so big and buff and hot.
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: Are you sure you want to say that out loud? Yeah.
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: This is being recorded. Once again, I am Marlena. Yes. Wow.
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: Good save.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: That was like flaming a fart on the dog.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: And then there's someone listening to it.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Oh, she foiled me.
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: Who is it?
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Was that Roger, really?
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: I think it was.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Wow. Alrighty.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: Hello, Tangents. Yeah. Let's at least get back to the
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: snake man.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: Because that is an essential part of this. So, Yeah,
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: snake man.
- 1:00:52Speaker 10: I kept thinking layer of the white worm. I think,
- 1:00:54Speaker 10: but only because I read that not.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: That long ago.
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: He's not white or a worm.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: I know, but neither was the worm. It was like
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: a big snake thing.
- 1:01:04Speaker 14: Oh, you know, the shadow when he was attacking his father,
- 1:01:08Speaker 14: I thought it looked a lot like Randall from Monsters Incorporated.
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:01:14Speaker 14: And I thought, well, maybe they, you know, because it
- 1:01:17Speaker 14: was the one monster that this little girl was afraid of.
- 1:01:22Speaker 14: I thought, well, maybe when Pixar, because Pixar has a
- 1:01:26Speaker 14: pretty good background in movies. I don't see how they,
- 1:01:30Speaker 14: you know. Not that that was completely intentional, but it
- 1:01:33Speaker 14: could have been. It very well could have been.
- 1:01:35Speaker 11: And just in general, all of them sort of draw
- 1:01:37Speaker 11: from stuff that they liked when they were younger. So,
- 1:01:39Speaker 11: I mean, I can see even if it's not 100%
- 1:01:41Speaker 11: here's our joke, it's just like as he's drawing stuff,
- 1:01:45Speaker 11: it may have crept in there either way.
- 1:01:47Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: And Beetlejuice, the part in Beetlejuice where he turns into
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: the worm.
- 1:01:51Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Kind of reminded me of that.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: Kind of, yeah. The animation's kind of the same. Yeah.
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: It was.
- 1:01:57Speaker 11: It was the same time period. It was right there,
- 1:01:59Speaker 11: a couple years ahead on Beetlejuice.
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: You know, it wasn't that bad. No, I mean.
- 1:02:04Speaker 11: I mean, it looks cheesy now, but the thing is,
- 1:02:07Speaker 11: I'll take any of that over bad CGI. I will
- 1:02:10Speaker 11: tell you, I mean, as low tech as a lot
- 1:02:13Speaker 11: of that was, because they even like couldn't afford the,
- 1:02:16Speaker 11: and I'll get to that. I mean, for what they
- 1:02:18Speaker 11: did with the money, I think looks pretty good, but
- 1:02:19Speaker 11: they couldn't even afford like a full on transformation scene.
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: They did like.
- 1:02:23Speaker 11: The version that they do is basically they modeled five
- 1:02:25Speaker 11: or six heads and then would jump cut between them
- 1:02:28Speaker 11: so you see a transition. But it's not a full transition.
- 1:02:32Speaker 11: It's just those little jumps along the way. So that's
- 1:02:35Speaker 11: how low-tech this version is. And yet, to me, it's
- 1:02:38Speaker 11: still pretty cool, and I'll take it over bad CGI
- 1:02:41Speaker 11: any day because it's just... There's something to that when
- 1:02:44Speaker 11: it is actually somebody physically making those heads and the models.
- 1:02:48Speaker 11: And by the time it gets to the stop motion
- 1:02:51Speaker 11: version of the Snake Man, it's fucking awesome.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: I love that part.
- 1:02:56Speaker 14: Even if you go back and watch Harryhausen stuff, gosh,
- 1:03:00Speaker 14: it looks cheesy. But comparatively, and I know it's not CGI,
- 1:03:05Speaker 14: but you can see that somebody actually took some, more
- 1:03:08Speaker 14: than others, but time with it.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: And I don't know.
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: I'm sure we probably beat that like a dead horse, but... Well,
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: but I mean, it really... I mean, that feels.
- 1:03:18Speaker 11: Especially you look at something like Harryhausen did, and that
- 1:03:21Speaker 11: looks like it is an art form. I mean, you
- 1:03:23Speaker 11: do give him credit for something amazing, whereas... programming the
- 1:03:27Speaker 11: CGI stuff? Does that feel like... I mean, I know
- 1:03:29Speaker 11: we're entering into that weird gray area of when does
- 1:03:32Speaker 11: art done on computer mean it's still art? It is
- 1:03:35Speaker 11: a weird question that people have been saying for a
- 1:03:38Speaker 11: while now. We talked about this with the artist last
- 1:03:41Speaker 11: week at the show.
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: If using Photoshop counts as art. That's a question that
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: ties into the movies. Does CGI.
- 1:03:50Speaker 11: still a special effect, like a visual effect that, you know,
- 1:03:53Speaker 11: is the same type of art form as molding mask.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: And, you know, is, is it the same thing?
- 1:03:59Speaker 11: I don't know. I mean, not exactly, but as we progress,
- 1:04:01Speaker 11: maybe we'll have to start looking at it that way.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: Because I think it looks, I mean, if you look
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: at what we did that.
- 1:04:06Speaker 11: You know, into the eighties version of like blue screen
- 1:04:09Speaker 11: and where we are with green screen now, it's kind
- 1:04:12Speaker 11: of jumped quite a bit, and there's a hell of
- 1:04:14Speaker 11: a lot more that we can do. At some point,
- 1:04:16Speaker 11: it could be kind of viewed as more of an
- 1:04:18Speaker 11: art form as you get further into it, and we
- 1:04:20Speaker 11: kind of know how to do it a little better.
- 1:04:22Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean, as long as there's a sliding scale
- 1:04:24Speaker 14: of good, you know, with someone that can say this
- 1:04:28Speaker 14: is good and this is bad, it has to be
- 1:04:30Speaker 14: an art form. There are people that are better than
- 1:04:32Speaker 14: the others, as long as it's not a Completely technology-driven thing.
- 1:04:35Speaker 14: If that looks good because they can pay more to
- 1:04:41Speaker 14: do it, that's not art. But if when you take
- 1:04:43Speaker 14: two people with the same materials that can pull that off.
- 1:04:47Speaker 14: then you can decide which one is the artist and
- 1:04:49Speaker 14: which one isn't. So I just don't think we have
- 1:04:51Speaker 14: enough or enough time yet.
- 1:04:53Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: And in the end it becomes like apples and oranges.
- 1:04:55Speaker 11: I mean, it really is like there are levels where
- 1:04:58Speaker 11: both of them are good and bad, but it's like,
- 1:04:59Speaker 11: you know, saying a great painting is the same thing
- 1:05:01Speaker 11: as a great sculpture.
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: They're both art, but they're very different.
- 1:05:04Speaker 11: So I'd say that with like stop motion versus CG,
- 1:05:07Speaker 11: there's levels where they're both going to be amazing and
- 1:05:09Speaker 11: they're both going to suck, but they're totally different set,
- 1:05:12Speaker 11: you know, separate things that.
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: Haven't been said. The stop motion animation on the snake
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: man in this awesome.
- 1:05:17Speaker 12: Any stop animation is awesome. Any stop animation, even if
- 1:05:21Speaker 12: they did it today, even when they do do it today,
- 1:05:24Speaker 12: is awesome.
- 1:05:24Speaker 11: It's one of those you look back at stuff, and yeah,
- 1:05:28Speaker 11: they just hardly ever do it today, but when they do,
- 1:05:30Speaker 11: it's still pretty awesome. It just has a very specific
- 1:05:33Speaker 11: look to it. that i mean maybe it's just nostalgia
- 1:05:36Speaker 11: once again maybe it's a generational nostalgia thing and kids
- 1:05:40Speaker 11: years from now will look at it and think it's
- 1:05:42Speaker 11: just like you know it's.
- 1:05:43Speaker 12: We remember you know we remember old-time rage we remember
- 1:05:48Speaker 12: harryhausen like we still remember harryhausen.
- 1:05:50Speaker 11: A lot of cute stuff So I don't know. I mean,
- 1:05:52Speaker 11: the snake man is awesome. And I think that is
- 1:05:54Speaker 11: probably what people remember most about this movie. I think
- 1:05:57Speaker 11: those scenes are really freaking scary. I think even now,
- 1:06:01Speaker 11: I think that especially the, the, well, both of them,
- 1:06:04Speaker 11: I mean, most of the dreams are sort of normal,
- 1:06:07Speaker 11: but yeah, the, the kid's dream and the president's dream
- 1:06:09Speaker 11: at the end are fucking creepy. And like, not just
- 1:06:13Speaker 11: because of the snake man, but I mean, you look at,
- 1:06:15Speaker 11: especially like the kid's dream, The kids' dream, it's even
- 1:06:18Speaker 11: the visuals of everything. It all kind of has that Dr.
- 1:06:21Speaker 11: Caligari look to it. The staircase, the doors.
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: The doors are all crazy slanted. The windows.
- 1:06:27Speaker 11: Everything is set up with this weird, kind of askew
- 1:06:30Speaker 11: look to it.
- 1:06:31Speaker 14: There had to have been just about a ready-made set
- 1:06:34Speaker 14: that they went into that on. I don't think all
- 1:06:37Speaker 14: of that looked like it was designed specifically for the movie.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:06:40Speaker 14: I don't know what the budget was. But it just
- 1:06:42Speaker 14: had a, you know, unless they spent a lot of
- 1:06:45Speaker 14: money on that.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: May have. Yeah.
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: I don't know. Like I said.
- 1:06:49Speaker 11: The budget actually was, and this to me is kind
- 1:06:51Speaker 11: of impressive, a five and a half million.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: That's pretty.
- 1:06:55Speaker 12: For the amount of visual effects of a movie alone.
- 1:06:58Speaker 11: For something that's, yeah, like an adventure special effects heavy
- 1:07:02Speaker 11: kind of movie with tons of visual effects thrown in,
- 1:07:05Speaker 11: you know. For the time period and for the materials
- 1:07:08Speaker 11: they had to work with, I think it looks damn good.
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:07:11Speaker 11: I mean, granted, it's going to pale a little by
- 1:07:13Speaker 11: movies today's standards. If you've never seen this before, you're
- 1:07:17Speaker 11: going to notice a difference. But, I mean, for $ 5. 5
- 1:07:20Speaker 11: million in the 80s, this looks pretty damn good.
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:23Speaker 14: So there was one part where they were in the
- 1:07:25Speaker 14: president's dream where they walked through one you know rubble
- 1:07:29Speaker 14: area yeah and then they walked back through it and
- 1:07:32Speaker 14: they walked back through it and i was.
- 1:07:34Speaker 11: Like oh but but again you have to give me
- 1:07:37Speaker 11: magic you have to give them credit because that still
- 1:07:40Speaker 11: played like the world and because the.
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: Way they wrote it Yeah. They were, yeah.
- 1:07:44Speaker 11: See, I don't think I was even paying that close,
- 1:07:45Speaker 11: but yeah, they, the way they wrote it was like,
- 1:07:48Speaker 11: it really was supposed to have huge visuals of like
- 1:07:51Speaker 11: cities and ruins and all of that.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: And they had five and a half million. They couldn't
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: do that. But to me, it still plays like that.
- 1:07:57Speaker 11: You still get the feeling that the world is destroyed by,
- 1:08:00Speaker 11: And really all they have is a couple little scenes
- 1:08:02Speaker 11: that they throw rubble in, but they do a good
- 1:08:04Speaker 11: job of kind of conveying that through what the visuals
- 1:08:07Speaker 11: that they have.
- 1:08:08Speaker 12: It's like The President's Dream where it's like going through
- 1:08:10Speaker 12: the rubble and it reminded me of Terminator, like kind
- 1:08:13Speaker 12: of the miniature that they made of the world destroyed
- 1:08:16Speaker 12: or whatever. When he opens the door and the kids
- 1:08:18Speaker 12: come pouring out or whatever.
- 1:08:19Speaker 9: Which that one was terrifying as hell.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: That seems really creepy.
- 1:08:23Speaker 12: Yeah, because you hear the kids and their voices are
- 1:08:26Speaker 12: kind of disjointed or whatever. And then all the irradiated,
- 1:08:30Speaker 12: melted children come out of the door.
- 1:08:32Speaker 14: They splice in the stock footage of the... nuclear bomb
- 1:08:36Speaker 14: testing yeah they made it red so.
- 1:08:38Speaker 11: That it all went together that it worked but again
- 1:08:41Speaker 11: that stuff i think almost i don't even know that
- 1:08:44Speaker 11: they were like working that in as like stealing stock
- 1:08:47Speaker 11: footage and putting in there like to me that was
- 1:08:48Speaker 11: almost more of like this is what we're drawing from
- 1:08:51Speaker 11: like this this is the touchstone of where everybody gets
- 1:08:54Speaker 11: these fears from and i think if.
- 1:08:56Speaker 14: It's his if it's his dream that's what that's the
- 1:08:59Speaker 14: fuel that he probably has in his brain.
- 1:09:01Speaker 11: To and that's that's the way we all see that
- 1:09:04Speaker 11: i mean these are these are the only images we
- 1:09:06Speaker 11: have we don't have current footage of that because they're
- 1:09:08Speaker 11: trying not to blow it up all we have are
- 1:09:10Speaker 11: these bad 50s test footage from like out in the
- 1:09:13Speaker 11: desert somewhere um So that's kind of like, in all
- 1:09:15Speaker 11: of our heads, that's the version of what a nuclear
- 1:09:17Speaker 11: blast looks like.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: And Indy was in the refrigerator. And he was. I
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: don't care what anybody says. That part was awesome. Oh,
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: my God. That part was hilarious. I'm like, dude, the refrigerator.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: You're a genius.
- 1:09:29Speaker 12: We'll never watch the Crystal Skull.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: If you haven't seen it, we'll never watch it.
- 1:09:34Speaker 12: But he survives a nuclear blast by getting in a refrigerator.
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: And it throws him like miles. It's like a 50s refrigerator.
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: Those things were fucking indestructible.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: The fall would have killed his old ass.
- 1:09:45Speaker 11: I have a Kelvinator in the other room, damn it.
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: It still survived.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: Shia LaBeouf would have saved him with his motorcycle.
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: With his goofy head. His what?
- 1:09:54Speaker 11: Butt.
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: Oh, Shia LaBeouf.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: I like him.
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: I love him. I like Shia LaBeouf, too.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: He's so cute. I would take off his pants.
- 1:10:03Speaker 9: I wouldn't go that far.
- 1:10:04Speaker 11: I would probably shake his.
- 1:10:07Speaker 9: Hand while you were disrobing him, and he'd be like, what?
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: No, double teams.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: I caught you off guard. Now you can't get away.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: Get him, baby.
- 1:10:16Speaker 11: Get him.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: I just want his pants.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: Sorry about that, Shia. If you're listening... I'm not. He
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: would probably be totally down with that, too.
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: Because he's... My number's 502.
- 1:10:35Speaker 5: And her name is.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: 365-5565.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: There you go. That's her number. Call her right now.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 1:10:42Speaker 11: Tangent once again. So, I mean, those are the big
- 1:10:46Speaker 11: dreams right there. The one with the kid. The staircase
- 1:10:48Speaker 11: is awesome.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: The staircase is really awesome.
- 1:10:50Speaker 11: Which somebody online I heard referred to as a disembodied staircase.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: It is kind of disembodied. Yeah. There's no structure to
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: it at all.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Disembodied?
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 1:10:59Speaker 9: It's just free-floating in that black area, you know?
- 1:11:02Speaker 11: Which, again, ties in quite a bit that level of dream.
- 1:11:06Speaker 11: And I think this is one that I wanted to
- 1:11:08Speaker 11: get to that... I think this is what separates it from, like,
- 1:11:12Speaker 11: Nightmare on Elm Street. Because as much as I really
- 1:11:15Speaker 11: like Nightmare on Elm Street, the first one in particular...
- 1:11:18Speaker 11: I think all of those dreams are really grounded. Like,
- 1:11:22Speaker 11: they're very reality. Yeah, it's like, I'm going to have
- 1:11:26Speaker 11: a crazy dream. I'm out on the street in front
- 1:11:28Speaker 11: of my house.
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:11:30Speaker 12: That dream made me feel like the Twilight Zone movie
- 1:11:34Speaker 12: in that house where the kid controlled everything.
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: Yeah, like that. The shit was just wrong. Everything was wrong.
- 1:11:39Speaker 12: It's not really basically sort of reality. It's like staircases
- 1:11:43Speaker 12: and doors don't make sense. The most basic of things
- 1:11:45Speaker 12: don't make sense anymore. So it's just like, It's really
- 1:11:48Speaker 12: kind of disembodied.
- 1:11:50Speaker 11: And that's, and that's the, I mean, that to me
- 1:11:53Speaker 11: is what works in there. Like these feel like real
- 1:11:56Speaker 11: messed up dreams. As much as I like Nightmare on
- 1:11:58Speaker 11: Elm Street, to me.
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: It's just like. What do my dreams feel like?
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: Others.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:01Speaker 11: Well, they're just, it's so normal other than when Freddie
- 1:12:04Speaker 11: comes in. It's like, there's a few key moments they
- 1:12:06Speaker 11: throw in. Oh, look, the sheep ran by. But, I mean,
- 1:12:09Speaker 11: for the most part, I'm in the hallway at school. Well,
- 1:12:12Speaker 11: I mean, every day, half the other shots in this
- 1:12:14Speaker 11: movie are you're in the hallway at school. So, I mean,
- 1:12:16Speaker 11: they don't really take it off on a weird area.
- 1:12:19Speaker 11: There's weird things thrown in, and that, again, might have
- 1:12:22Speaker 11: been budget reasons. Because as they go on, I mean,
- 1:12:25Speaker 11: if you go into the sequels, they get into those weird, like, fucking.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: Turning into a car or motorcycle, whatever the hell he
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: turned into.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: Tree board.
- 1:12:32Speaker 11: The soul pizza i mean those get weird dream bullshit
- 1:12:36Speaker 11: but those are also when they became kind of stupid
- 1:12:39Speaker 11: i still like freddy all the way through the run
- 1:12:41Speaker 11: but the movie's got stupid let's face it so i
- 1:12:44Speaker 11: mean but i mean that first one they're they're just
- 1:12:46Speaker 11: a little too too real world where i think this
- 1:12:50Speaker 11: actually plays really well at being like Very dream world.
- 1:12:53Speaker 11: It is one of those where things don't necessarily make sense.
- 1:12:56Speaker 11: Things don't necessarily look like they would normally look.
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: Like the dad and the kid's dream just randomly sitting
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: at the end of the table. Apparently it's the same
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: dream over.
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: And over again. Could be. He's like, don't worry, he
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: won't help.
- 1:13:10Speaker 11: Or just like the guy on top of the building
- 1:13:12Speaker 11: with the sky doing that weird thing and the clouds
- 1:13:14Speaker 11: going by.
- 1:13:15Speaker 12: Yeah, dreams are always one-off. I just know whenever I'm dreaming,
- 1:13:19Speaker 12: it's like I can be somewhere that's familiar, but something's
- 1:13:22Speaker 12: just skewed a little bit.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:24Speaker 11: And that's where I think this kind of gets it right,
- 1:13:28Speaker 11: especially going into Nightmare.
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: They never quite embraced that.
- 1:13:32Speaker 11: And because I think what they were really more worried
- 1:13:34Speaker 11: about doing was Nightmare and every other movie that goes
- 1:13:38Speaker 11: into Dreams pulls this.
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: Hell, even movies that don't go into Dreams pull this.
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: You're already in the dream. It is a dream already.
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: You wake up from the dream and you didn't know
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: you were in the dream.
- 1:13:47Speaker 9: You're not even watching the movie right now.
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: At least they never, yeah, at least they never. Yeah,
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: they never pull that in this movie.
- 1:13:51Speaker 11: It's very obvious when you go into a dream, you
- 1:13:54Speaker 11: go through the crazy dream tunnels and you get there
- 1:13:56Speaker 11: and like everything is fucked up and weird and then
- 1:13:58Speaker 11: you come out of the dream and it's normal.
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: It is a very different experience.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: Where every other movie.
- 1:14:03Speaker 11: Not even dream movies just in general I mean how
- 1:14:06Speaker 11: many movies can you think of that like and you
- 1:14:08Speaker 11: wake up and oh it was only a dream that
- 1:14:10Speaker 11: whole last five minute scene that we had to sit
- 1:14:12Speaker 11: through was bullshit and never really happened this movie never
- 1:14:15Speaker 11: pulls that it's an entire season of Newhart yeah what's
- 1:14:21Speaker 11: that the entire series no the entire series yeah there's
- 1:14:23Speaker 11: an entire season of Dallas there's an entire series that
- 1:14:26Speaker 11: is Newhart.
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: And the last season of Roseanne I think Pretty sure.
- 1:14:33Speaker 14: I just tuned out after John Goodman left.
- 1:14:37Speaker 11: Even before that, those last couple years just started to
- 1:14:40Speaker 11: really suck.
- 1:14:42Speaker 6: I can never get into Roseanne because she just pissed
- 1:14:43Speaker 6: me off all the time. I just wanted to yell
- 1:14:45Speaker 6: at her and be like, be a.
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: Nice person, you stupid whore. No, she's mean.
- 1:14:50Speaker 12: The one thing about Dreamscape that I hated when I
- 1:14:52Speaker 12: was a kid, that none of the three versions of
- 1:14:54Speaker 12: the Snake Man coincided. First Snake Man was Snake Man
- 1:14:59Speaker 12: with the snake head. Second iteration that the guy turned into,
- 1:15:02Speaker 12: it still had like a human-looking face to the snake head.
- 1:15:06Speaker 12: And then when, at the end, Quaid pulls his face apart,
- 1:15:10Speaker 12: it's like this blob of green mass.
- 1:15:12Speaker 9: It doesn't even make sense anymore. I'm like, did you
- 1:15:14Speaker 9: all run out of money?
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: But you know what?
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: It's all three different people's vision of the dream of
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: the Snake Man. But as a kid, I hated it.
- 1:15:23Speaker 9: I wanted the first Snake Man over and over again
- 1:15:25Speaker 9: because I loved it.
- 1:15:26Speaker 11: I was thinking that, at least between the first and
- 1:15:28Speaker 11: the second one, because the second one is the Tommy Ray's.
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: Impersonation of what he thinks the Snake Man is. From
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: the drawing.
- 1:15:35Speaker 11: Because he never even saw the Snake Man. So, yeah,
- 1:15:37Speaker 11: that one I understand. And the third one I can
- 1:15:39Speaker 11: actually tell you because I heard them explain what happened.
- 1:15:42Speaker 11: And they did a version of the head... monster and
- 1:15:46Speaker 11: it was the the makeup effects guy and the one
- 1:15:48Speaker 11: and the guy that did the hands that attack him
- 1:15:50Speaker 11: and somebody didn't like it i don't know if it
- 1:15:52Speaker 11: was producers or like a test.
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: Audience like change that shit and.
- 1:15:55Speaker 11: He the guy who did it's like i like that
- 1:15:57Speaker 11: one better really and that's the one he did but
- 1:15:59Speaker 11: i guess still he was like i kind of like
- 1:16:00Speaker 11: that one better and then someone else came in and
- 1:16:02Speaker 11: did that little effect which does look pretty bad it
- 1:16:05Speaker 11: does look bad compared to the rest of the movie
- 1:16:07Speaker 11: but the hands that go out and grab them are
- 1:16:09Speaker 11: it cuts to the first version because that's the main
- 1:16:12Speaker 11: makeup man.
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: Those are his hands. He's actually doing that. So the
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: only thing that looks really bad is the head, and
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: that was somebody else. No wonder. I give credit to
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: the main makeup guy.
- 1:16:21Speaker 9: Oh, Tommy Rave.
- 1:16:23Speaker 11: And I think there's even sort of a reason for
- 1:16:27Speaker 11: the face. I think that was one of those that
- 1:16:29Speaker 11: they wanted to make it look like it was Tommy Rave.
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: As the snake man like i think they sort of.
- 1:16:34Speaker 11: Wanted you yeah to know that he was in there
- 1:16:36Speaker 11: so they almost modeled the snake's face after david patrick
- 1:16:40Speaker 11: yeah it's and i do like that when he changes
- 1:16:42Speaker 11: back and he's like half snake man and then and
- 1:16:46Speaker 11: then that was creepy that was creepy.
- 1:16:50Speaker 6: There's an episode of supernatural i think it was i
- 1:16:52Speaker 6: think it's have we watched that one yet the one
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: where they're in Skeeter's dream.
- 1:16:57Speaker 12: With Snake Man yeah where he's being attacked constantly by
- 1:17:00Speaker 12: his wife yeah it's.
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: In season 4 of Supernatural for those of you who
- 1:17:03Speaker 6: give a shit um and they go into this kind
- 1:17:06Speaker 6: of like Dreamwalking, that's what they call it, which obviously.
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: Is a throwback to.
- 1:17:10Speaker 9: You have to take peyote, basically, or mushrooms.
- 1:17:13Speaker 6: Mushrooms to do it, which is obviously a payback, or
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: playback for this, kind of.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Because you're on mushrooms. Well... Because they both had, like,
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: sync up. I would not watch this on mushrooms. Oh,
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: my God. Snake Man would blow your mind. Right? But
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: they use.
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: There's this one Tommy Ray-type character who's... realize that he's great.
- 1:17:35Speaker 9: At this, like, getting into other people's dream, and he can.
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: Do whatever the fuck he wants.
- 1:17:39Speaker 6: So they, you know, gets him to do their dream,
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: and Sam and Dean are all badass, they're fighting him.
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: And how do they beat him? Daddy!
- 1:17:45Speaker 6: Brings his dad back and apparently beat him in the
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: head when he was little and made him not be.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: Able to dream anymore. Yeah. That's a rip-off.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: Almost exactly.
- 1:17:55Speaker 11: As much as I kind of like Supernatural, they were
- 1:17:57Speaker 11: never the most original show. So many of their plots
- 1:18:02Speaker 11: were just ripped off from movies that they condensed down
- 1:18:05Speaker 11: to an hour-long version and then jammed.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: The two of them in. Which is, yeah, I mean, it's...
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: It's still a fun show. They do a decent job
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: at it. They do. At least it's not shabby. It's
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: not bad, but it's just... Shabby?
- 1:18:15Speaker 11: Did you say shabby?
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: I did say shabby.
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: So many times I just feel like, oh, it's like,
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: insert movie here.
- 1:18:20Speaker 11: Whatever movie of the week they decided to do. I
- 1:18:23Speaker 11: kind of like their little arcs better when they do
- 1:18:25Speaker 11: the whole fighting the demon monsters.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I like them.
- 1:18:29Speaker 11: He's going to hell. That was at least kind of original,
- 1:18:31Speaker 11: that version of it.
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: I'm just talking about it because I want to watch
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: it now. It's their little one-shot ones that are always
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: just ripped off.
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: I like it when they're talking about hell and he's like, yeah,
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: Hellraiser pretty much got it right.
- 1:18:40Speaker 9: Got it right.
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: Except for the patent leather.
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: There you go. I love Hellraiser. My obsession for Pinhead.
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: Pinhead, if you're listening, my number is.
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: And my name is not Marlena. And I'm not Marlena.
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: We can find you, Doug Bradley. He's at all these shows. Yeah.
- 1:18:58Speaker 5: I don't know if he'll... Well, he might wear the
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: makeup for you.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Can you do prosthetics for me?
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: How about the guy at the film... The film festival.
- 1:19:06Speaker 14: That kept pulling up his outfit.
- 1:19:10Speaker 9: I heard about that guy.
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: Which one? The pinhead guy.
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 1:19:14Speaker 5: And he kept pulling up his skirt in front of us.
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: There was a big fan there. There was a big
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: turbo fan in front of us. And everybody had to stop.
- 1:19:24Speaker 14: But he would just be like, we're sitting there with
- 1:19:27Speaker 14: nothing to do.
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: And he's waving his joke at us. What?
- 1:19:32Speaker 14: Into the whole costume going I wore.
- 1:19:38Speaker 10: A dress to that and the air conditioning was broken
- 1:19:41Speaker 10: so there are these giant industrial fans so every time
- 1:19:45Speaker 10: I'd walk around I'd have to like hold my skirt
- 1:19:47Speaker 10: down because I'd have I had like at least 40
- 1:19:49Speaker 10: to 50 Marilyn Monroe moments like where my skirt.
- 1:19:51Speaker 14: Just blew up now picture Pinhead doing that wow waving
- 1:19:57Speaker 14: his junk.
- 1:19:58Speaker 9: Happy birthday Mr.
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: President sweating Wow.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: Yes, please.
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: Yeah, you at least held yours down every time, unlike
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: that 14-year-old girl.
- 1:20:08Speaker 6: Ew.
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: That's a whole different story.
- 1:20:09Speaker 10: I mean, I try to keep it classy, and it doesn't,
- 1:20:11Speaker 10: I always wear, like, leggings, so it's not like, even
- 1:20:15Speaker 10: if my skirt blew up.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: Over my head.
- 1:20:19Speaker 5: So, yeah.
- 1:20:20Speaker 11: Eddie Albert's pretty awesome as the president. We do, you
- 1:20:23Speaker 11: know it's an awesome movie when the president gets to
- 1:20:24Speaker 11: kill a man.
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:20:26Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: And almost effortlessly shoves it through his chest.
- 1:20:30Speaker 11: Again, it's a dream, and it was his dream, so
- 1:20:34Speaker 11: I guess if he wanted it to be like gelatin-like,
- 1:20:38Speaker 11: just straight through.
- 1:20:39Speaker 6: So that's the thing I didn't like, the fact that
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: the president was like, whoa, I am in a dream.
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: What the fuck did you change things then?
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: Make it sunny. Take those dogs away. I don't know.
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: I like those dogs. Make it so that you can
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: actually run, old man.
- 1:20:54Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: And not jump and fall down and almost kill yourself.
- 1:20:58Speaker 6: I like the that one scene where they're going under
- 1:21:03Speaker 6: the rubble and he like touches something and it gets
- 1:21:07Speaker 6: a spark on it and then the dog like runs
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: by and brushes it and like automatically gets all fried.
- 1:21:13Speaker 5: And disappears so it's like a live wire or something
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: yeah this is dream logic things are different right.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: And then he kills himself that's kind of cool.
- 1:21:21Speaker 11: That's what always happens right before you jump across the
- 1:21:23Speaker 11: glowing green river yeah.
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: Of slime or something? I don't know. Again, this is
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: all dream world.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Toxic waste from mountains.
- 1:21:31Speaker 11: Which, again, is what I think is key about this movie.
- 1:21:33Speaker 11: It gets these weird dream things, and they don't have
- 1:21:36Speaker 11: to make sense. Your dog can have glowing red eyes.
- 1:21:38Speaker 11: It can be a green slime river. That's just the
- 1:21:41Speaker 11: way it is. You know, that and the snake man
- 1:21:44Speaker 11: is probably what works best.
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: In this movie. Any final thoughts? I love this.
- 1:21:49Speaker 6: Movie yeah I'm just really glad to get to see
- 1:21:52Speaker 6: it again like I said the last time I saw
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: it I was probably 6.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: 7 that's why you're messed up now.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: That and many other things like.
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: Tom Selleck and what's her name And a train.
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: And a train on its way to Louisville. Right. Once again,
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: Louisville gets a lot of 80s shout-outs.
- 1:22:12Speaker 11: I totally forgot about the one in this one, but
- 1:22:14Speaker 11: it's like we had that whole span of, like, you know,
- 1:22:16Speaker 11: Return of the Living Dead and this movie, and, you know,
- 1:22:19Speaker 11: we got some Stripes action. So, you know, in the 80s,
- 1:22:21Speaker 11: we were almost cool in Louisville.
- 1:22:23Speaker 14: You have to take an Amtrak to get to Louisville.
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: You can't fly there. We're pretty huge.
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:22:28Speaker 11: Right we've got amtrak running straight through it's massive and
- 1:22:32Speaker 11: straight to churchill down yep that's what happens and then
- 1:22:34Speaker 11: you go there and cheat so in wrapping up everybody's
- 1:22:40Speaker 11: gonna remember the snake man and everybody's gonna remember the
- 1:22:42Speaker 11: crazy staircase and that's cool i mean it offers all
- 1:22:46Speaker 11: these great visuals but the thing i noticed this past
- 1:22:49Speaker 11: time watching it and this is something that's kind of
- 1:22:51Speaker 11: subtle and kind of awesome so if If you want
- 1:22:54Speaker 11: to give it a little more credit for something, this
- 1:22:56Speaker 11: was kind of my favorite part. The first time that
- 1:22:59Speaker 11: Alex meets Bob Blair, he's actually strapped down into the,
- 1:23:03Speaker 11: what looks like a cat scan machine, but it says
- 1:23:05Speaker 11: x-ray above it. So Bob Blair walks in and he
- 1:23:09Speaker 11: starts giving him his dialogue, but I'm sitting there watching
- 1:23:11Speaker 11: it and when.
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: Does he meet him?
- 1:23:14Speaker 11: He meets him when he's completely strapped down, can't move anything.
- 1:23:19Speaker 11: So initially, right off the bat, we see Bob Blair
- 1:23:21Speaker 11: is in control, complete control at that point. So right there,
- 1:23:25Speaker 11: it shows you the situation. Bob Blair has all the power.
- 1:23:28Speaker 11: Bob Blair likes having all the power. He likes being
- 1:23:31Speaker 11: in control. And when he enters into a situation, when
- 1:23:35Speaker 11: he meets someone, when he sets up their entire relationship,
- 1:23:38Speaker 11: he likes to have the power.
- 1:23:40Speaker 5: He likes to be in control. Now follow that up
- 1:23:42Speaker 5: with what's the next thing that he does as he
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: starts talking to him?
- 1:23:46Speaker 11: He looks over his shoulder. He realizes that the door
- 1:23:49Speaker 11: is open somewhat. He goes over and closes it as
- 1:23:52Speaker 11: he's delivering the rest of his dialogue. So that's the
- 1:23:55Speaker 11: other thing that tied in. He wanted to make sure
- 1:23:57Speaker 11: no one was listening. So right there, he likes controlling
- 1:24:00Speaker 11: information and.
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: He doesn't trust anybody.
- 1:24:03Speaker 11: So all of this stuff is said without actually having
- 1:24:06Speaker 11: anything to do with the dialogue. They're sitting there delivering
- 1:24:09Speaker 11: dialogue back and forth, but you've got all this information. Basically,
- 1:24:14Speaker 11: everything you need to know about Bob Blair, you find
- 1:24:17Speaker 11: out right there in that couple of minutes. And it
- 1:24:19Speaker 11: has nothing to do with the dialogue going on. I
- 1:24:22Speaker 11: thought that part was really impressive and kind of shows you.
- 1:24:25Speaker 11: there is a level of subtlety to this, and there
- 1:24:27Speaker 11: is something put in there in character development that could
- 1:24:30Speaker 11: get overlooked and.
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: Sort of overshadowed by the crazy special effects.
- 1:24:34Speaker 11: I think that's kind of a cool element that this
- 1:24:38Speaker 11: shows that there's a little more to this movie than
- 1:24:39Speaker 11: you might think initially.
- 1:24:42Speaker 12: Night swimming deserves a quiet night.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: The crowds are thinning out at the snack bar, folks,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: and there are still three minutes till showtime. You can
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: easily make it for something that'll just hit the spot.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: How about it? Don't waste a second of refreshment time.
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: On a mysterious island in the South China Sea, There
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: is a fortress without walls, protected by an invincible army
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: that needs no ordinary weapons. This is Enter the Dragon,
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: the first martial arts film produced by a major Hollywood studio.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: John Saxon, U.S. karate champion Jim Kelly, and Black Belt
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: Hall of Fame superstar Bruce Lee. Penetrate the secret chambers
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: of Han's evil empire. Discover its secret and destroy. This
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: is Enter the Dragon. Where the world's greatest martial arts
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: athletes meet the ultimate challenge with the most ancient and
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: deadly of weapons. The human body. Enter the Dragon. For
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: Warner Brothers, rated R. Under 17, not admitted without parent.
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: It's part of your problem, you know.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 1:26:20Speaker 11: All of life's riddles.
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: Are answered in the movies.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: And now, on with the show.
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: I know you.
- 1:26:47Speaker 9: I know you've seen her.
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: She's a sad tomato.
- 1:26:54Speaker 10: I was scarred as a teenager being pushed over by
- 1:26:58Speaker 10: my fake brother at a show and landed.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: On the floor with my skirt.
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: Hiked up.
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: Hiked up.
- 1:27:06Speaker 9: Business and showing the world.
- 1:27:09Speaker 11: That sounds like your fake brother.
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: I was there in an assembly in high school in
- 1:27:14Speaker 6: front of the entire fucking school.
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: Wow. I fell.
- 1:27:21Speaker 6: That's the day Olive Oil County High School realized, oh,
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: you didn't wear underwear.
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: She became an instant hit. She was an instant hit.
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: I'm a high school celebrity. Thank God Facebook didn't. The
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: Homecoming Queen and everything.
- 1:27:43Speaker 11: Yeah, that's... Forget Facebook. Cell phones with cameras would have
- 1:27:47Speaker 11: been your enemy for the.
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: Rest of your life. Yeah. You would have been across
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: the interwebs in about two seconds. I was a freshman, too. Ooh,
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: four years of hell. Like, I was young.
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: Meat to those bastards.
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: Anybody who went to Bull County High School.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: In the years of 2000 to 2004, screw you. Did
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: they give you a nickname for that?
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: I had a few for a while.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: I was just curious.
- 1:28:22Speaker 5: I've blocked a lot of that shit out.
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember one of them.
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: Just always drawers was funny.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: What? Drawers.
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: Draws. Panty Pirate was one.
- 1:28:33Speaker 9: I don't know why Panty Pirate.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: It's high school.
- 1:28:40Speaker 17: High school because they're not because they're alliteration yeah you
- 1:28:42Speaker 17: wouldn't actually be a panty pirate you would have been
- 1:28:44Speaker 17: hit by one perhaps wouldn't actually be one yeah yikes.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Maybe we should just go straight to my next session
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: after this.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: We've already started you're well into it It all starts
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: with Tom Selleck and no panties. As do most of
- 1:29:03Speaker 5: your dreams.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: As do most of my stories. Well, let's see. This
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: one time with Tom Selleck and no underwear.
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: And then we were on a train. And Ripley's making
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: my breakfast. All right, we are back. And do we
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: have feedback?
- 1:29:20Speaker 11: No.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: What?
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: Because you guys are slack asses. So I'm not even
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: going to complain about it anymore.
- 1:29:25Speaker 9: Just shit.
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: Why do we bother? I don't know.
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: You guys don't care.
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: I want to hear what y'all have to say.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Fine.
- 1:29:31Speaker 11: That's why I just don't take your feelings into account.
- 1:29:33Speaker 11: We're just going to do whatever the hell we want
- 1:29:35Speaker 11: to do from here on out. Because you don't seem
- 1:29:37Speaker 11: to care. Just mindless drones that load up whatever the
- 1:29:40Speaker 11: next podcast is, I suppose.
- 1:29:42Speaker 9: Do you have opinions of yourself?
- 1:29:44Speaker 11: Guess not.
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: You guys suck.
- 1:29:47Speaker 11: I'm joking.
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: On that night, hey, call in right in. Don't be shy.
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: We'd like to hear from you.
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: So give us a call at 502-365-5565. Or you can
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: email us at geeksatmoviemeltdown.com.
- 1:30:06Speaker 8: And just stop by the website for our frequent updates.
- 1:30:09Speaker 8: That's MovieMeltdown.com.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: Sharktopus Countdown!
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: I've got a picture called Sharktopus, which comes out September
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: 25th on the SyFy channel.
- 1:30:34Speaker 11: It is currently 48 days, 1 hour, 4 minutes, and
- 1:30:38Speaker 11: 41 seconds until the premiere of Sharktopus.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: Mark your calendars, people. Sharktopus is coming.
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: Do you like baked beans? Do you like George Witt?
- 1:30:55Speaker 10: Do you like watching George Witt while eating baked beans?
- 1:30:58Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: Or eating... Yeah. Other way around.
- 1:31:04Speaker 11: Watching baked beans hey that's up to you whatever you
- 1:31:09Speaker 11: are into nothing hotter than george went and baked beans
- 1:31:16Speaker 11: let me tell.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: You i live with that are they hot or are
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: they cold baked beans that's what i want to.
- 1:31:24Speaker 5: Know Spicy or temperature? That's the question.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Temperature.
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: I think hot. Okay, kids, get out your decoder pins.
- 1:31:31Speaker 9: All right.
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: I can tell that tonight's message was really important.
- 1:31:38Speaker 11: It's time for the Movie Meltdown Secret Circle reveal of
- 1:31:40Speaker 11: the next one plus sort of another thing features. Next
- 1:31:46Speaker 11: week will be another movie, and like normal, we'll continue on.
- 1:31:50Speaker 11: And we've decided to go with Fright. If you're not
- 1:31:54Speaker 11: familiar with it, 1971, the granddaddy of all babysitter slasher movies.
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: That's kind of how it's billed.
- 1:32:02Speaker 11: I'm interested to watch it, so it'll be kind of
- 1:32:05Speaker 11: cool to see what's going on in Friday.
- 1:32:07Speaker 12: The first of the beginning of the series that is
- 1:32:10Speaker 12: a babysitter versus maniac.
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: The wave of babysitter movies.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Oh, Lord.
- 1:32:18Speaker 11: So the next week, we won't even bother with a
- 1:32:20Speaker 11: specific movie, as far as I know, because we're going
- 1:32:24Speaker 11: to be heading to Chicago. We're going to be going
- 1:32:27Speaker 11: to the Wizard World slash Chicago Comic Con, whatever the
- 1:32:31Speaker 11: hell they're calling it this time.
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: And yeah, we're going to be there.
- 1:32:35Speaker 11: You'll get more coverage of us probably making fun of people,
- 1:32:39Speaker 11: which we had a little bit of positive feedback on that,
- 1:32:41Speaker 11: but I'll save that for the party responsible for most
- 1:32:44Speaker 11: of the smart-ass comments. So Yeah, I feel like us,
- 1:32:48Speaker 11: you know, with our usual, well, Randy did say he
- 1:32:51Speaker 11: went driving around in a car making fun of people.
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: We will be in a car. I'm going to have
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: the microphone. We can probably arrange that.
- 1:32:58Speaker 9: We should.
- 1:32:59Speaker 11: I'm sure it will be us at the convention doing
- 1:33:01Speaker 11: a little bit. We may do more of the fun
- 1:33:03Speaker 11: hotel version of the show we did last year.
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: That was kind of fun.
- 1:33:06Speaker 9: That was fun.
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: That was possibly the first of us going to sleep.
- 1:33:08Speaker 9: We should do an elevator this next time. Just carry
- 1:33:10Speaker 9: all the equipment with big, long extension cords.
- 1:33:12Speaker 10: I'm going to ride around in a car and yell, Hey,
- 1:33:14Speaker 10: want to take a ride on my disco stick?
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: Just for Randy.
- 1:33:17Speaker 5: Yeah, he did seem to be pretty excited about that.
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: I know. I'm sure he's using that line all the time.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: All right, so that will be the next two features.
- 1:33:27Speaker 5: We're figuring out the next one. Whatever we get back,
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: we'll come up with that at some point.
- 1:33:32Speaker 11: But in the meantime, go get yourself a copy of
- 1:33:34Speaker 11: Fright and then just be prepared for our craziness in Chicago.
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: Anything else you guys have for the show here? I
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: like those photograph records for Old-timey rave.
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: And get a hold of all of the sparklers you
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: can find. Steal them from children.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: And lightning bugs. Catching lightning bugs. Like sparklers and snakes.
- 1:33:55Speaker 10: I think this should become a yearly event and it
- 1:33:57Speaker 10: should happen sometime this year before it gets really cold.
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: I agree. Next year.
- 1:34:00Speaker 9: How do you mix photographs? Like, how do you do that?
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: I don't know. But that would be fucking amazing.
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: That would be awesome.
- 1:34:06Speaker 11: You have to get a really old guy to do it.
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: I'm going to, I'm actually, I'm going to. I'm going
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: to get on this. This sounds like an amazing idea.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: It sounds tight, yeah.
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: I'm willing to help coordinate.
- 1:34:19Speaker 12: But if it ever happens from here on this day,
- 1:34:22Speaker 12: we started it. People just stole our answers.
- 1:34:26Speaker 5: We have it on. We can be the hipsters that
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: are like, man, I was there.
- 1:34:29Speaker 9: When that started.
- 1:34:30Speaker 5: I was there at the conception of.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: It, man.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: I'll be like the forecastle guy.
- 1:34:36Speaker 5: Could be.
- 1:34:37Speaker 11: I mean, I remember when he was standing in the park,
- 1:34:39Speaker 11: Tyler Park, with like 10 people around him.
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: I was at that one. Now I don't want anything
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: to fucking do with it.
- 1:34:46Speaker 11: Fast forward like four years and he's making a kajillion
- 1:34:49Speaker 11: dollars with Smashing Pumpkins.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: I want to catch you in booking Zooey Deschanel.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: Which came to town, didn't talk to me at all.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: Bitch.
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: What's that about? No, don't call her a bitch.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: You take that back.
- 1:35:05Speaker 11: She was supposed to sit in with us that week, though.
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: What the hell's her problem? She'd be a great guest.
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: She could have watched, like... Her eyes are just so big.
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: We could have watched that happen.
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: We could just watch her bleep.
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: We shouldn't do that. That'd be so cute.
- 1:35:17Speaker 9: She's got the prettiest voice.
- 1:35:18Speaker 5: We would annihilate her movie and she would be unhappy
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: with it.
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: No. But you were so cute in it, Zoe. It's okay.
- 1:35:24Speaker 5: You're so cute. Tell us about Marky Marks and more.
- 1:35:29Speaker 11: Did anybody on set not see his penis?
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: Let's go with the better question.
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: Every woman in America.
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: Did you get to avoid his penis?
- 1:35:40Speaker 9: Was he doing the Hellraiser thing?
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: Was he in front of a fan most of the day?
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: Actually, I was standing in front of a fan the other.
- 1:35:47Speaker 13: Day and some guy was like, stood beside me, and
- 1:35:56Speaker 13: he was wearing shorts.
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: She goes, ah, it feels so good in my balls.
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: It feels so good in my balls.
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: That's when you look at him and.
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: Go, mine too. And he slowly inches away.
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: Let me reiterate, I did not know this guy. I
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: had never seen him before. He just comes up beside
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: me and stands in his balls by the face.
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: That's my opening line. If she's okay with that, I'm in.
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: I don't know how I didn't go home like that.
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: I would have been like, oh, hi, I'm Joni. Nice
- 1:36:34Speaker 5: to meet you. Nice to meet you. And you're bald.
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: We'll be going back to your place now. Your place?
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: I'm the panty pirate. Nice to meet you.
- 1:36:42Speaker 11: We're bringing the fan with us and heading on back. Yay!
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: Good to have you.
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: Sometimes Joni shouldn't talk. I forgot about that. still trying
- 1:36:56Speaker 5: lord let's get the hell out of.
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: Here okay musically.
- 1:37:00Speaker 11: If you haven't noticed the theme well this week's movie
- 1:37:02Speaker 11: was probably the first time I came in contact with
- 1:37:04Speaker 11: the weird occurrence that is rapid eye movement.
- 1:37:07Speaker 5: So I thought musically we would follow suit rapid eye
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: movement yeah.
- 1:37:11Speaker 11: Yeah So, otherwise, that about does it. We will return
- 1:37:15Speaker 11: next week. Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:37:18Speaker 5: Thanks, guys.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: Oh, I am. Oh, my God.
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: Welcome. On top of things. Now that you've punched in,
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: you can go ahead and punch out.
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: I was like, I'm trying to.
- 1:37:32Speaker 11: Think of something.
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: I'm looking for an interruption.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: You were looking to dig my dreams. Be prepared for anything.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: You were coming to my little scene.
- 1:37:56Speaker 9: Hooray, hooray, hooray, hooray.
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: There's one thing.
- 1:38:03Speaker 9: I can guarantee.
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: You won't have to dig, dig to the deep.
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: Say, leave me today.
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: Touch me deep.
- 1:38:15Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:38:33Speaker 9: You look and drive my.
- 1:38:35Speaker 4: Dreams You hear throughout my screams You come, deliver my
