- 4:25the interview. For the record to be clear, please wait

- 4:40to ensure the court reporter can properly record this interview.
- 4:43Please speak clearly, concisely, and slowly. Also, the court reporter
- 4:48cannot record nonverbal answers, such as nodding or shaking your head,
- 4:52so it's important that you answer each question with an
- 4:55audible verbal answer. Minority exhibits will be identified alphabetically. Do
- 5:00you understand, Kelln Yes, Brignac. We want you to answer
- 5:05our questions in the most complete and truthful manner possible,
- 5:08so will take our time. If you have any questions
- 5:11or do not fully understand the question, please let us know.
- 5:14We will attempt to clarify, add context to, or rephrase
- 5:17the questions. If we ask about specific conversations or events
- 5:22in the past, and you're unable to recall the exact
- 5:24words or details, you should testify to the substance of
- 5:27those conversations or events to the best of your recollection.
- 5:31If you recall only part of the conversation or event,
- 5:34you should give us your best recollection of those events
- 5:38or parts of a conversation that you do recall. Do
- 5:40you understand, Miss Kellen, Yes, Brignac. Although you're here voluntarily,
- 5:46you're acquired by law pursuing the Title eighteen of the
- 5:49US Code Section one thousand and one to answer questions
- 5:52from Congress truthfully. This also applies to questions posed by
- 5:57Congressional staff in the interview. Do you understand Kellen, Yes, Brignac.
- 6:02If any time you knowingly make false statements, you could
- 6:05be subject to criminal prosecution. Do you understand Kellen, Yes, Brignac.
- 6:11This includes knowingly providing false testimony, but also stating that
- 6:15you do not recall or remember something when you in
- 6:17fact do. Do you understand Kellen, yes, Brignac. Furthermore, you
- 6:22cannot tell half truths or exclude information necessary to make
- 6:26statements accurate. You're required to provide all information that would
- 6:30make your response truthful. A deliberate failure to disclose information
- 6:34can constitute a false statement. Do you understand miss Kellen, Yes, Brignac.
- 6:39Is there any reason you're not able to provide truthful
- 6:42testimony in today's interview? Kellen No, Brignac. Please note that
- 6:47if you wish to assert a privilege over any statement today,
- 6:50that assertion must comply with the rules of the Committee
- 6:53on Oversight and Government Reform pursu into that Committee. Rule

- 7:00assertions of privilege over testimony. Your statements, witnesses her entities
- 7:05must clearly state the specific privilege being asserted and the
- 7:08reason for the assertion on or before the scheduled data
- 7:11testimony or appearance. Do you understand, Kellen? Yes, Now, her
- 7:17lawyer jumps in, Can I just very quickly, just so
- 7:20the record's clear. We've previously shared with the committee staff.
- 7:23There are certain topics. This is a voluntary interview that
- 7:27she's prepared to discuss today. She'll talk about her own questions,
- 7:31pertinent questions regarding her own victimization, but not questions about
- 7:34other persons victimization. The reason for this include her own
- 7:39mental trauma, her ability to withstand sustain questioning on these points,
- 7:43legislative purpose and pertency, concerns about the private rights of individuals,
- 7:48including my client, and the protection of her constitutional rights.
- 7:52And I know that we've discussed it with the Majority
- 7:54and Minority staff, but I just wanted to make sure
- 7:57that everyone in the room understood our condition. Mister Ashworth
- 8:00for the record, thank you. As previously stated, the Committee
- 8:04will ask all questions it deems relevant to the committee's
- 8:07investigation and hopes the witness will answer those questions. As
- 8:10she sees fit. Thank you, miss Brignac. Ordinarily, we take
- 8:15a five minute break at the end of each hour
- 8:17of questioning, but if you need a longer break or
- 8:19a break before that, please let us know and we
- 8:22will happily accommodate it. However, to the extent that there's
- 8:26a pending question on the record, we would ask that
- 8:28you finish answering the question before we take a break.
- 8:31Do you understand Kellen, yes, Brignac, you have any questions
- 8:35before we begin? Kellen, No, I don't have any questions. Brignac. Great,
- 8:40and I believe we had another member join us. Can
- 8:43you please identify yourself for the record, William Timmins, South Carolina. Brignac,
- 8:48thank you. I understand that you have an opening statement
- 8:51that you want to read for the record. Kelln, yeah, Brignac,
- 8:54you can do so now. Kellen, thank you, Chairman, ranking member,
- 8:58and members of the Committee. My name is Sarah Kellen.
- 9:01I worked for and was sexually and psychologically abused by
- 9:05Jeffrey Epstein for over a decade. It's important for the
- 9:08committee to understand before I begin that the woman sitting
- 9:11in front of you today is not the woman I
- 9:14was supposed to become. The years that have shaped my
- 9:17adult life were not my own. During those years, I
- 9:20was trapped inside Jeffrey Epstein's world. He grew me sexually
- 9:24and psychologically abused me, controlled me, manipulated me, dominated me,
- 9:29and gas lit me until I could no longer tell
- 9:31which thoughts were mine and which were his. It was
- 9:35like living with a permanent virtual reality had set on.
- 9:39I was reminded every day how powerful he was, how
- 9:42influential he was, and that to turn on him or
- 9:45disobey him would mean losing everything, my job, my home,
- 9:49everyone I knew in the world, even my life. Understanding
- 9:53who I was before meeting Jeffrey Epstein and Glenn Maxwell
- 9:57will help explain why I was the perfect target for them.
- 10:00I was raised in a religious cult of Jehovah's witnesses
- 10:04in a small community in North Carolina, in a faith
- 10:07where women did not speak unless spoken to. We were
- 10:10not allowed to question men. In fact, we were required
- 10:13to submit to and obey men. We were discouraged from
- 10:17thinking for ourselves. At the age of thirteen, an eighteen
- 10:20year old man began pursuing me. At the time, I
- 10:23was flattered. I thought I was falling in love with him.
- 10:27Only now do I understand what was happening. I was
- 10:29being groomed and molested and then raped. I dropped out
- 10:33of high school at the age of fifteen to prepare
- 10:35to marry this man, which I did at the age
- 10:37of seventeen. To me, I had no other choice. It
- 10:40was the only way to reconcile the fact we were
- 10:42having sex outside of wedlock a grave sin in the
- 10:46eyes of Jehovah God. At the time, I thought it
- 10:50was love. Only much later did I come to understand
- 10:53what had happened to me was wrong. My husband took
- 10:56me to Hawaii, thousands of miles away from my family
- 10:59and friends. Three years later, he served me with divorce
- 11:01papers at an airport. I signed them without a lawyer
- 11:05because I did not know I was allowed to have one.
- 11:08He then this fellowshiped me from the Jehovah witnesses, excommunicated,
- 11:13without anyone ever having questioned me. I still don't know
- 11:16to this day why I was this fellowshiped. From that
- 11:20day forward, everyone who is Jehovah's witness is no longer
- 11:23allowed to speak to or associate with me, including my
- 11:26entire family, my parents, my siblings and all my friends.
- 11:30From one day to the next, I was completely alone
- 11:33in the outside world, with no tools to navigate this
- 11:36world outside of the religious cult in which I had
- 11:39been raised. I was twenty one years old, far from
- 11:42where I grew up, stuck on an island in the
- 11:44middle of nowhere. No college degree, no family, no friends,
- 11:48no money, nowhere to live. The only person who offered
- 11:52me shelter was a photographer twenty years my senior, who
- 11:55demanded nude photographs and delhi sex from me in exchange
- 11:59for a roof over mine head. When I couldn't afford
- 12:01to pay rent, I had no other choice to survive.
- 12:05I began to disassociate during these encounters, a coping mechanism
- 12:10that will stay with me for many years. During this
- 12:13time period, I went to Neiman Marcus makeup counter in Honolulu.
- 12:17The makeup artist introduced me to a famous New Yorker
- 12:20hairdresser who was there promoting his new hair care line.
- 12:23He said he wanted me to model in a hair
- 12:25show for him in Maui. When I flew to Maui,
- 12:28he had me staying in his hotel room. There was
- 12:30no hair show. He sexually assaulted me that night. He
- 12:33then said he wanted to introduce me to his friend
- 12:36Jeffrey Epstein, who he said was his scout for Victoria's Secret.
- 12:40Jeffrey flew me to La for a casting in his
- 12:43shutters on the Beach hotel room. Although he did not
- 12:46sexually assault me that day, he made me think he
- 12:49was a model scout and told me to undress for him,
- 12:52which I did. Months later, while working at a hotel,
- 12:55a young woman I work with became friends with me
- 12:58and knew I was desperately trying to leave Hawaii. She
- 13:01said that she knew a couple in New York looking
- 13:03for an assistant and asked if I would be interested
- 13:06in the job. The couple was Jeffrey Epstein and Glene Maxwell. Unfortunately,
- 13:11I got the job. The first time Jeffrey Epstein assaulted me,
- 13:15I was on Little Saint James's private island. This was
- 13:18not a vacation destination, it was isolation. He told me
- 13:22he was taking me on a tour of the island.
- 13:24He drove me on a four wheeler to his bedroom.
- 13:26He locked the door behind us. He approached me and
- 13:29lifted up my shirt. To this day, I can't remember
- 13:33exactly what happened in the minutes that followed. My mind
- 13:35shut down. I have since learned in therapy that this
- 13:38is called disassociation. It became how I survived. There were
- 13:43many events during my time working with Jeffrey and Golaine
- 13:47that my mind shut down and doesn't allow me to
- 13:49remember the traumatic details. I was then flown to Palm
- 13:53Beach in Jeffrey Epstein's private seven twenty seven, then to
- 13:56New York City. I was surrounded by unimaginable luge, private jets,
- 14:01designer clothing, lavish homes, the largest townhouse in Manhattan. I
- 14:05was told. After a week of traveling with them, I
- 14:08was sent back home to Hawaii. About a month later,
- 14:11Glane called me and told me to come to Palm
- 14:13Beach right away and start working. They bought me a
- 14:16flight for the next day, and I immediately started training,
- 14:19traveling and working for them twenty four to seven with
- 14:22no pay. I was too afraid to even ask how
- 14:25much I would earn, terrified of jeopardizing my only chance
- 14:28at survival and stability. I have read articles online labeling
- 14:34me as Glenn Maxwell's lieutenant. That is a gross misrepresentation.
- 14:38I was a literal indentured slave. In fact, she even
- 14:41referred to me as her slave and her minion. I
- 14:44had zero power or authority. I was there only to
- 14:48serve and submit. Only after Jeffrey confirmed that I would
- 14:51submit to his sexual abuse did he begin paying me.
- 14:54After months of unpaid labor, he instructed me to draw
- 14:57m a bath on the island, then ordered me to
- 15:00undress and get in with him, and he said the
- 15:02job is yours now, you just have to keep it.
- 15:06He then pulled me onto his bed and made clear
- 15:08that keeping the job required only after submitting to his
- 15:11sexual abuse did the paychecks begin. Twenty five thousand a
- 15:15year for working non stop on call twenty four to
- 15:17seven months at a time when no days off. I
- 15:21understood the math exactly. I was being paid, in part
- 15:23to be raped. I was on call to him every
- 15:27hour of the day. I won't catalog every assault because
- 15:30it would take too much time, but I want this
- 15:32committee to know that the abuse happened on average on
- 15:35a weekly basis, and at times was violent. It included
- 15:39Jeffrey entering my room in the middle of the night
- 15:41and putting his fingers inside me, waking me up from sleep.
- 15:44It included the occasion in Palm Beach when he trapped
- 15:47me in the gym by lowering the metal hurricane shutters,
- 15:50blasted the music so loud so no one could hear,
- 15:53choked me, and violently rape me. The abuse continued while
- 15:57Jeffrey was supposedly serving his Florida JELSA. He even skyped
- 16:01me from a computer inside the Palm Beach County Stockade
- 16:04and ordered me to undress forum on camera. As a
- 16:07result of the years of abuse, constant sleep deprivation and
- 16:11course of control inflicted by Jeffrey and Glane, psychological conditions
- 16:15hampered my ability to identify my own emotions, differentiate reality
- 16:19from Jeffrey's manipulated reality, and crippled me for making decisions
- 16:24or asserting agency when it mattered most Today, I continue
- 16:27to suffer from major depressive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder,
- 16:32and complex PTSD, specifically as a result of Jeffrey Epstein's
- 16:37sexual assaults and psychological abuse. I know some of you
- 16:41are probably wondering why I didn't leave. I had nowhere
- 16:44else to go. I had no money, no family, no education,
- 16:48and no sense that I deserved any better. This is
- 16:52why It's so important for people to be educated on
- 16:55how grooming processes work and how trauma bonds form. I
- 16:59have only just begun to understand this myself over the
- 17:02past few years of therapy. I can provide more information
- 17:05how I was groomed, but I will not speak for
- 17:07others and how they were groomed. Jeffrey made certain I
- 17:11knew that defying him would cost me my life. He
- 17:14knew everyone in the highest echelons of society, and everyone
- 17:17catered to him. He knew everyone in the fashion industry, academics, finance, government,
- 17:22powerful world leaders, dictators, and everyone in between. From the beginning,
- 17:28he showed me that he was more powerful than basically
- 17:30anyone in the world. I sat in a room in
- 17:33Cuba with him and Fidel Castro. I was taken to
- 17:36Asia and Africa with President Bill Clinton, including a lunch
- 17:39at the home of the Sultan a Brunei. I was
- 17:42at Princess Beatrice's eighteenth birthday party at Windsor Castle and
- 17:46at the desert home of Sheik Muhammad in Dubai. I
- 17:49sat across the table from Adhud Barakh in Israel. Jeffrey
- 17:53was able to fool and manipulate the brightest minds in
- 17:56the world. US victims didn't stand a chance. I was
- 18:00a high school dropout from North Carolina. I was a
- 18:02silent body in a chair besides men who started and
- 18:06ended wars. I understood completely that if Jeffrey could walk
- 18:10into those rooms, he could walk into any room in
- 18:12the entire world. He could find me anywhere on Earth.
- 18:16He could also control any law enforcement agency. That proof
- 18:19came in two thousand and seven. Two FBI agents tried
- 18:23to approach me and another young woman in Saint Thomas Airport.
- 18:26Jeffrey told us to stay where we were, walked over
- 18:29and spoke to the agents himself, came back ten minutes later,
- 18:32said let's go, and the agents were gone. Later that
- 18:36same year, the United States government placed me into Jeffrey
- 18:39Epstein's federal non prosecution agreement as a name co conspirator.
- 18:44I was not told this was happening. I was not
- 18:46asked about it. No one from law enforcement ever spoke
- 18:49with me, heard my side of the story, ever asked
- 18:52me a single question. I did not even know my
- 18:54name was in that agreement until after it had been
- 18:56signed and released to the public. The federal government of
- 18:59the United States branded me a criminal and a secret
- 19:02deal with my own abuser without ever once speaking to me.
- 19:07From the day Jeffrey Epstein found me until July of
- 19:09twenty nineteen, no one from the federal government, or any
- 19:13government for that matter, ever contacted me about anything, not once.
- 19:17I've spent every year since trying to live underneath that
- 19:20piece of paper. I finally extricated myself from Jeffrey Epstein's
- 19:24grasp in twenty thirteen when I became engaged to a
- 19:27man who gave me, for the first time of my life,
- 19:30a piece of footing outside of someone else's control. I
- 19:33was finally able to leave. The abuse finally stopped, but
- 19:37leaving was not the same as escaping. I am almost
- 19:40forty seven years old. My entire life since the age
- 19:42of twenty two has been dominated by Jeffrey Epstein's abuse
- 19:46and manipulation and the aftermath of it. I am here
- 19:49today to answer your questions, to dispel rumors and conspiracies,
- 19:54and to tell you the truth. I hope and pray
- 19:57that I am the only sexual abuse survivor that has
- 19:59come before you in this manner. Nobody else who has
- 20:02been through the hell that Jeffrey Epstein put us through.
- 20:05Should ever have to endure the pain of recounting it
- 20:08again publicly, all of us lose more of our lives,
- 20:11our health, our privacy, and mental well being each day
- 20:15Jeffrey Epstein remains a topic of discussion. I hope this
- 20:19brings us one step closer to closure for all of
- 20:21us survivors. Thank you for listening. All right, folks, we're
- 20:25gonna wrap up right here, and in the next episode
- 20:27discussing the topic, We're gonna pick up where we left off.
- 20:30All the information that goes with this episode can be
- 20:33found in the description box.
