- 1:03Speaker 3: Yeah, someone didn't have it ready to roll, so I
- 1:06Speaker 3: guess we're at We're a little late. And also, if
- 1:09Speaker 3: you guys can't tell, Me and Austin had a huge
- 1:11Speaker 3: falling out, so we just won't do podcasts anymore together.
- 1:13Speaker 5: I guess yeah.
- 1:16Speaker 4: I mean both of you guys are alternating episode.
- 1:22Speaker 5: No, we really didn't.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I figured beyond today and I eat propausing me on Tuesday,
- 1:26Speaker 3: so well, we'll talk about our problems.
- 1:29Speaker 5: I guess. Well.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Today we are previewing the schedule and going through game
- 1:38Speaker 2: by game, breaking down where we think Nebraska is for ceiling.
- 1:45Speaker 2: What we actually think is gonna happen with this schedule
- 1:48Speaker 2: that we have heard.
- 1:49Speaker 4: A lot about.
- 1:51Speaker 2: We've I guess the general consensus, unless you've heard anything different,
- 1:56Speaker 2: is that it is brutal.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 3: The way I've looked at the schedule is I would
- 2:06Speaker 3: break it down into four different tiers, like if you
- 2:13Speaker 3: the first half is very easy, the easiest, the rest said.
- 2:17Speaker 5: In a while like non con and then first two.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Out next year, after that, and after that it's probably
- 2:22Speaker 3: the hardest they've had in last ten years. So it's
- 2:27Speaker 3: it's tough to see where it's gonna go.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Well, we're.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Online for probably what we've done the past couple of years,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and that being start off well and finish not so well.
- 2:50Speaker 2: We have three games at the beginning part of our
- 2:54Speaker 2: schedule here that I mean, I don't know, I would say.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I guess ESPN said we have the easiest non conference
- 3:03Speaker 2: schedule in the country.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Now I'm not one hundred percent sure about this. Wasn't
- 3:07Speaker 3: Tennessee is supposed to be the Ohio game? Right? Thank
- 3:11Speaker 3: God that's not Tennessee.
- 3:15Speaker 5: I mean, was that I don't know where I was
- 3:16Speaker 5: supposed to be.
- 3:17Speaker 3: But man, that have been tough to start out with
- 3:20Speaker 3: new quarterback and whole new system and everything.
- 3:23Speaker 5: It would have been fun. But I mean, Ohio's have
- 3:26Speaker 5: those three.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I don't know what you're thinking, but that's that's easily
- 3:29Speaker 3: the toughest game I think out of those three. So
- 3:31Speaker 3: that's when I think they could lose. Not saying they
- 3:33Speaker 3: will though, well, I mean.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yeah, just looking at the start here, the Ohio game.
- 3:42Speaker 5: And then.
- 3:45Speaker 2: If we go to our our schedule here if you're
- 3:48Speaker 2: watching on YouTube, the Ohio game would kick off on
- 3:53Speaker 2: Saturday September fifth, and then Bowling Green in North Dakota
- 3:58Speaker 2: are our first three games.
- 3:59Speaker 4: And don't want to spend a whole lot of time
- 4:01Speaker 4: on this, but maybe we should if if we are.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Hopefully not doing what we've done in the past, is
- 4:12Speaker 2: maybe lose a game.
- 4:13Speaker 4: That we should win.
- 4:16Speaker 5: But I agree.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I mean, we're twenty four point favorites week one against
- 4:20Speaker 2: Ohio and then Bowling Grade North Dakota like they're they're good.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I'll call them two games, preseason games, whatever you want
- 4:26Speaker 2: to call them. Again, don't lose because then we sound
- 4:29Speaker 2: like idiots. But we should take care of business in
- 4:35Speaker 2: those three games. I think the biggest thing here. You
- 4:37Speaker 2: know you want to look for with your team is
- 4:38Speaker 2: what you know, who's playing, what kind of things.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Are we doing with those guys?
- 4:44Speaker 2: And you know, make make make us feel good as
- 4:48Speaker 2: fans and and and as players your program feel good
- 4:51Speaker 2: about where we're at heading into that next group here.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I mean, you sure hope. So if if they lose
- 4:59Speaker 3: any of those three, I think that's that's code red
- 5:03Speaker 3: right there. It's seasons already going to crap if it's over.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I think, do you think if it lose any of
- 5:10Speaker 3: those three is over for rule?
- 5:11Speaker 5: Like totally? Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know if it'll be mid.
- 5:17Speaker 6: Season, it won't.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I don't think it'll be like Frost like fire mins even,
- 5:20Speaker 3: But I don't think like I think it's like guaranteed
- 5:23Speaker 3: that the end of the year he's done.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Yeah, it'll be. It'll be hard to get out of
- 5:28Speaker 4: that hole, for sure.
- 5:30Speaker 5: I do think you're you're you're not.
- 5:34Speaker 2: So much externally to us, but internally if you can't
- 5:37Speaker 2: if you lose one of those games, it's gonna be
- 5:39Speaker 2: hard to really get the guys motivated, uh to bounce
- 5:42Speaker 2: back and recover from that. So I agree, I'm again
- 5:47Speaker 2: I think I'll just shock them in as wins. I
- 5:50Speaker 2: think for both our floor ceilings and what we actually
- 5:53Speaker 2: expect is that is that fair?
- 5:55Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 5:56Speaker 3: I also don't know about the rebounding part of it.
- 5:59Speaker 3: I think that just means you're bad if you lose.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Won these three teams, so I don't know if you
- 6:02Speaker 3: can rebound. But there's one game I want to talk
- 6:04Speaker 3: about out of those three that people over is overlooking
- 6:07Speaker 3: North Dakota last year had case state dead to rights.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Should have won that game. They won, they lost by three.
- 6:15Speaker 3: So that's a game I would watch out for. They're
- 6:17Speaker 3: they're tough, which is North North Proast State's outcast state.
- 6:20Speaker 3: All those teams out of the FCS are always tough
- 6:23Speaker 3: like that. That's nine team i'll overlook.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I definitely agree that any of these
- 6:34Speaker 2: games we can overlook and not be ready to go.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I mean we've definitely done that in the past. So
- 6:42Speaker 2: moving to the second.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Part here and.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Four or bye week, obviously, we start at Michigan State
- 6:49Speaker 2: on Saturday, September twentieth. We then host Maryland. I'll start
- 6:53Speaker 2: with those two games in themselves. I think both of
- 6:58Speaker 2: those games we should be okay. I mean I don't
- 7:02Speaker 2: know a touchdown to two touchdown favorite when you're when
- 7:07Speaker 2: you're looking at point spreads and and there are games
- 7:10Speaker 2: that we've definitely lost in the past, right, Yeah, not
- 7:13Speaker 2: taking care of business in the games that we should win.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And when I say should win games, you know what
- 7:20Speaker 2: we're talking about those points spreads. So the Michigan State game,
- 7:26Speaker 2: you know, heading to East Lansing, Pat Pat.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Fitzgerald's there, he's.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I guess had Nebraska's number when he was at Northwestern.
- 7:37Speaker 4: I've actually heard a lot of negative comments around the
- 7:41Speaker 4: higher there.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I I mean, I like that we get them early
- 7:46Speaker 2: in the year.
- 7:46Speaker 4: I'll say that because we they they maybe you know, are.
- 7:53Speaker 2: At a Pat Fitzgerald standard for before that. So I
- 7:57Speaker 2: like that we get them at least early in the year.
- 8:00Speaker 2: But we I'm a I have a scar tissue in
- 8:04Speaker 2: my brain from heading out there in Michigan State in
- 8:06Speaker 2: the game that we should win against melt Tucker's team
- 8:09Speaker 2: a few years ago, and we didn't.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's one of the worst losses I think
- 8:14Speaker 3: I've watched Nebraska have.
- 8:15Speaker 5: They just played horrible, horrible.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Not saying I had any money on the game, but
- 8:20Speaker 3: that Michigan State game I I would say is probably
- 8:25Speaker 3: the most important of the season for them to win.
- 8:28Speaker 3: That's your first game, is your first true test. They're
- 8:32Speaker 3: supposed to you're supposed to win that game. If they
- 8:35Speaker 3: win that, I think the season's gonna be hitting the
- 8:36Speaker 3: right direct. I think that's the turning point of the season.
- 8:38Speaker 3: You lose that, it's you know, downhill. You win, it's
- 8:40Speaker 3: going uphill.
- 8:44Speaker 2: And then we take on Maryland at home in the
- 8:47Speaker 2: first week of October. We went out to College Park
- 8:52Speaker 2: and took care of business last year, not handily. It
- 8:56Speaker 2: was a one score game that we finally won. But uh,
- 9:00Speaker 2: we get them at home this year. I think this
- 9:03Speaker 2: is another game where you know, Mike Loxley, they're ker
- 9:06Speaker 2: coach at Maryland is pretty pretty hot right now on
- 9:10Speaker 2: the hot seat, and we should take care of business
- 9:18Speaker 2: in a in a game like that, especially being at home.
- 9:22Speaker 2: You know, if if we're talking for ceiling.
- 9:25Speaker 5: I do think you're you're.
- 9:30Speaker 2: You're you're ceiling. There includes wins with both these games.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I think you know your floor.
- 9:34Speaker 4: You could argue winning or losing one or both these games.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Uh, you know, I think from my prediction standpoint too
- 9:43Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm gonna shot both these up as wins.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I'm gonna, I'm gonna say we're gonna start the season
- 9:47Speaker 4: five and zero.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I think, you know these are these are two big,
- 9:51Speaker 2: big games for sure on our schedule, and I don't
- 9:55Speaker 2: call them turning points or marquee games. We'll get to
- 9:57Speaker 2: our picks on those later, but I think these are
- 10:00Speaker 2: two games we need to take care of business.
- 10:03Speaker 4: I think I think we will.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I mean that's I mean not being popped optimistic. I
- 10:08Speaker 2: mean it is a little bit, I guess, but we've
- 10:11Speaker 2: lost these games in the past.
- 10:12Speaker 4: But give me two wins in these games.
- 10:14Speaker 5: You're scary.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Part about the Maryland game is you think the Brats
- 10:17Speaker 3: starts out hotter than the season. That team every year
- 10:19Speaker 3: is just hotter than the Hell's start out the year.
- 10:22Speaker 3: This is when you catch them when they're usually great.
- 10:24Speaker 3: The first five games they are just almost top twenty
- 10:27Speaker 3: five team, and then they did fall off a cliff
- 10:29Speaker 3: every time I heard their offense supposed to be really
- 10:31Speaker 3: good again this year.
- 10:31Speaker 5: So that's I've kind of overlooked them.
- 10:33Speaker 3: But more I think about that's gonna be a tough,
- 10:35Speaker 3: tough game that I think, but I do think you're
- 10:37Speaker 3: win both going a tight one score games, but I
- 10:41Speaker 3: think they'll win both.
- 10:44Speaker 4: So your in agreemance with me too. We're both have
- 10:47Speaker 4: five and zero.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Before we head into the Indiana game at home, and
- 10:55Speaker 2: if you look at Indiana's schedule, it's pretty easy up
- 11:00Speaker 2: until our game as well. And if this is the case, Saturday,
- 11:04Speaker 2: October tenth and Lincoln is gonna be a very very
- 11:07Speaker 2: big day for college football for Nebraska fans especially. I
- 11:12Speaker 2: would expect that. I haven't looked at other games that week,
- 11:15Speaker 2: but college game Day I would think would be a
- 11:18Speaker 2: pretty big favorite.
- 11:18Speaker 4: To come to Lincoln.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Last time, last couple of times has happened, it's not
- 11:23Speaker 2: gone very well, most recently the Ohio State game, which
- 11:26Speaker 2: feels very eerily similar to where this game could be
- 11:30Speaker 2: heading in to it. So, I mean, I'm not giving
- 11:36Speaker 2: us a win anywhere. I think this is when people
- 11:39Speaker 2: are talking about that I'm not quite chucking up in Indiana.
- 11:41Speaker 2: W I I've been a big believer in Kurt Signetti
- 11:46Speaker 2: after he proved me wrong last year and trying to,
- 11:49Speaker 2: you know, defend him as I think you should. Now,
- 11:55Speaker 2: I do think that there's a little bit of Okay,
- 11:57Speaker 2: he's done it two years, let's see him doing it
- 11:59Speaker 2: a third year.
- 12:00Speaker 4: But he's saying Mendoz is gone. You know, you bring
- 12:02Speaker 4: in Josh Hoover.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I still think Indiana is gonna be pretty damn good.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I think they have a pretty good system rolling now.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I don't know that they're necessarily gonna blow us out.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I hope we're at least better to compete with that.
- 12:20Speaker 2: But I don't see us winning this game at home,
- 12:23Speaker 2: even though it could be it will be a very
- 12:24Speaker 2: fun atmosphere and fun game.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I don't see this winning it at home this year.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Dream game Hunter, right, they should both be ranked if
- 12:31Speaker 3: they're undefeated, Like you said, game days coming, all the
- 12:34Speaker 3: hypes can be there. This is this is this is
- 12:35Speaker 3: what you look forward to right here? You you love
- 12:38Speaker 3: these games.
- 12:42Speaker 4: What's your prediction for it?
- 12:44Speaker 3: I think I think like you're saying, I think it's
- 12:46Speaker 3: gonna be pretty close closer, and people think if I'm
- 12:50Speaker 3: saying ten or least points. But I do think Indian
- 12:52Speaker 3: is gonna win. I think their offensive blind will just
- 12:54Speaker 3: end up dominating at the end. And and I do
- 12:58Speaker 3: think Josh Hoover is actually pretty good quarterback. Act for
- 13:01Speaker 3: what they picked up, like, he's not gonna be a Mendoza,
- 13:03Speaker 3: but he's gonna be a prettyding good quarterback. But he
- 13:06Speaker 3: is a Ferry. There's a little fact there. So that's good.
- 13:10Speaker 5: I guess.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I did hear it.
- 13:14Speaker 2: An interesting thing two take twelve months ago, heading into
- 13:22Speaker 2: the season, would you have taken Josh Hoover or Mendoza.
- 13:26Speaker 4: As your quarterback?
- 13:27Speaker 5: Hoover?
- 13:29Speaker 4: So it just it just goes to show.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Your your you're fitting your system, your development and coaching
- 13:35Speaker 2: in general with any player, I think that that goes
- 13:40Speaker 2: to be said. And you know, I think Hoover's had
- 13:43Speaker 2: his moments obviously for both good and bad at his
- 13:46Speaker 2: previous stops. So we'll see. And then next game we
- 13:50Speaker 2: go at Oregon. I think this probably is our toughest
- 13:54Speaker 2: game on the schedule. In my mind, it is the
- 13:57Speaker 2: one I'm probably going to be attending and going to.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Oregon has a very, very talented roster. They're loaded. I
- 14:04Speaker 4: do think this could be a very good year for Organ.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'm a big Dan Landing guy, especially given how that
- 14:10Speaker 2: I mean, if we set them out miraculous they pulled
- 14:13Speaker 2: that Indiana game out, I mean, oh boy, that game
- 14:15Speaker 2: an Organ is gonna be just stupid talk about game
- 14:20Speaker 2: to fall on us back to back weeks. Probably, I
- 14:24Speaker 2: just I don't. I don't see that game going well.
- 14:28Speaker 2: You know, you hope for both these games really you
- 14:31Speaker 2: keep it competitive and it's not.
- 14:34Speaker 4: It doesn't end up ugly by the end of it.
- 14:37Speaker 4: So lost for me. Tough game, respect orgon a lot.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Excited to watch him this year.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Yeah, this is one where you say, move on. Next game.
- 14:46Speaker 5: I think he's going to be an absolute blowout.
- 14:47Speaker 3: I think Oregans no matter what happens in any any game,
- 14:50Speaker 3: I think twenty one plus points, Organ's gonna win that game.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I think they have too much talent, which del Marellos said,
- 14:57Speaker 3: too much talent on that team for Nebrass copeat with.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Yeah, did Dylan Dylan let us know.
- 15:05Speaker 2: The only thing I can say about that game that
- 15:06Speaker 2: would be incredible not for Dante Moore's sake.
- 15:11Speaker 4: So I don't.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I don't want to wish anybody to get hurt or
- 15:13Speaker 2: anything bad to happen to somebody, But if he were
- 15:16Speaker 2: to somehow.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Get hurt like the game before.
- 15:20Speaker 2: The our game, and all of a sudden, Dylan Rayol
- 15:24Speaker 2: is starting that game.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Oh, i'd be fun, which he might he might name
- 15:29Speaker 3: either backup.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I I think he probably is, but
- 15:34Speaker 2: we definitely heard that he might not be. Then we
- 15:39Speaker 2: get our bye week on Saturday, October twenty fourth, and
- 15:43Speaker 2: I think it's an important one because the Washington Huskies
- 15:46Speaker 2: come to town on Halloween night, and I think this
- 15:51Speaker 2: is gonna be a huge, huge, huge game for our
- 15:54Speaker 2: season and how we finish a schedule. Uh, depending on
- 15:58Speaker 2: how this game goes, you know, find a way to
- 16:00Speaker 2: win it, you get a lot of momentum. I do
- 16:03Speaker 2: think having that bye week before it is big. Uh,
- 16:08Speaker 2: it's gonna be rock and I'm hoping we get in
- 16:11Speaker 2: the hype game for it. If it goes very poorly, Uh,
- 16:16Speaker 2: you know, you can write some stuff off for the
- 16:20Speaker 2: second half of the season here and what we talked
- 16:24Speaker 2: about the beginning of the podcast where things would go
- 16:26Speaker 2: south quickly, I think that could come into fruition. I
- 16:33Speaker 2: obviously winning this game would be a very big win,
- 16:35Speaker 2: if not one of the biggest wins at home.
- 16:40Speaker 4: For Coach Rule.
- 16:43Speaker 2: I also think there's potential with what I mean, Washington
- 16:46Speaker 2: is getting a lot of hype that things would go south,
- 16:48Speaker 2: and you know, you get, you get embarrassed in this game.
- 16:51Speaker 4: It's not good for the rest of the year.
- 16:54Speaker 3: This should be the blackout game. It's on Halloween. That's
- 16:57Speaker 3: why I've heard that it's gonna be the black up
- 16:59Speaker 3: I've I've think Washington's one of the most underrated teams
- 17:02Speaker 3: in the country coming in to the year. I think
- 17:05Speaker 3: they're being a playoff team at the end of the year.
- 17:06Speaker 3: They're supposed to be loaded. Their offensive defensive lines, i've heard,
- 17:11Speaker 3: are just incredible, probably some of the best in Big Ten.
- 17:14Speaker 3: I I think Washington's gonna sneak it out win by three,
- 17:19Speaker 3: but it's gonna be a very tight game.
- 17:23Speaker 2: And after that, we had to Illinois out there, where
- 17:28Speaker 2: we have been.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Okay out there.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I think Brett Beelama is one of those coaches that's
- 17:34Speaker 2: kind of had our number. We've also found a way
- 17:36Speaker 2: to win a couple of those games against the fighting
- 17:38Speaker 2: a line night. They got this big new scoreboard. I
- 17:41Speaker 2: don't know if you've seen it, the biggest in college
- 17:42Speaker 2: football now. If you haven't, go check it out. It's
- 17:45Speaker 2: it's basically fills up the entire to be their north
- 17:49Speaker 2: end zone from like end zoned end zone and it's
- 17:53Speaker 2: it's massive.
- 17:54Speaker 5: I'll check it out.
- 17:56Speaker 4: So it's that that's that's gonna be a tough game.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I mean, I I don't think will be a huge,
- 18:01Speaker 2: huge underdog by any means, but I do think that's
- 18:04Speaker 2: gonna be a tough one to win again, this Washington game,
- 18:07Speaker 2: this Illinois game, and then I'll just a'll jump into
- 18:10Speaker 2: Rutgers here too when we travel to Piscataway.
- 18:14Speaker 4: You know, that's act.
- 18:15Speaker 2: You know, that game, maybe we should win from a
- 18:17Speaker 2: from a betting standpoint and points spread, like I think
- 18:21Speaker 2: will be again a touchdown to two touchdown favorites out there,
- 18:24Speaker 2: depending on how seasons are going. But that's a game
- 18:27Speaker 2: you can't lose either when when you when you head
- 18:28Speaker 2: out there. So, like I said, Illinois is gonna be
- 18:31Speaker 2: a tough one for sure, Rutgers probably, you know, similar
- 18:35Speaker 2: to that Michigan State and Maryland game. You know, should
- 18:38Speaker 2: win games, and we've taken care of business against them.
- 18:40Speaker 2: But again, don't don't give us any games the way
- 18:43Speaker 2: things have gone.
- 18:45Speaker 3: No, I think, which it feels like for some reason,
- 18:48Speaker 3: Illinois Nebraska play which I know Minnesota last year, but
- 18:51Speaker 3: it feels like Illinois Nebraska is always that Friday night game.
- 18:53Speaker 5: I don't know why it feels like that.
- 18:54Speaker 3: It's probably just because that was one of the worst
- 18:56Speaker 3: lost in Brass had in a while, when they lost
- 18:59Speaker 3: a couple of years ago to them. I do think
- 19:02Speaker 3: Illinois gonna be a little down this year. I Brett
- 19:06Speaker 3: Bielama scares the crap at me every time, but I
- 19:08Speaker 3: think Nebraska win that game by ten in the records game,
- 19:12Speaker 3: I think that's that's also a tough game to go
- 19:15Speaker 3: all the way across the East, across country, the East coast.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I do think they're not gonna be very good this
- 19:21Speaker 3: year at all. I think the brask wins the game
- 19:24Speaker 3: by seventeen plus.
- 19:26Speaker 4: I hope you're right.
- 19:28Speaker 2: And then we finish off at home against Ohio State,
- 19:33Speaker 2: obviously to the obviously fair talent. Did they've been here,
- 19:36Speaker 2: done that before? Lincoln on taking care of business, I
- 19:39Speaker 2: don't see us winning this game again. I think, keep
- 19:41Speaker 2: it competitive, find a way to keep it close, don't
- 19:44Speaker 2: get embarrassed, keep our momentum, don't you know, Hopefully stay healthy,
- 19:48Speaker 2: people are healthy at this point before we head to
- 19:52Speaker 2: Hawkeye Stadium out there in Kinnick Stadium out in Iowa
- 19:55Speaker 2: City on the day after Thanksgiving. That's one of those
- 20:01Speaker 2: games that it's just gonna be a it's gonna be
- 20:03Speaker 2: a coin flip.
- 20:04Speaker 4: It's gonna be Iowa Nebraska.
- 20:07Speaker 2: It wasn't last year a coin flips, So maybe I
- 20:09Speaker 2: shouldn't jump to that conclusion. But it's gonna be a
- 20:13Speaker 2: tough one to to find a.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Way to win.
- 20:15Speaker 2: But God, we gotta be due to beat Iowa at
- 20:17Speaker 2: some point, right, Like, don't they start feeling bad for us.
- 20:20Speaker 2: It's like it's like how you're in my DraftKings golf
- 20:24Speaker 2: goes every week at some point, I.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Feel happened last week? Yeah, what what happened last week?
- 20:31Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. I felt bad for.
- 20:32Speaker 5: You to meet you four times this week before. Uh huh.
- 20:35Speaker 2: So that sometimes you know you're gonna feel bad for
- 20:37Speaker 2: your for your little brother, and you're gonna let them
- 20:40Speaker 2: let him win something.
- 20:41Speaker 3: But I so I actually have a Nebraska beating Old
- 20:45Speaker 3: House date. I think that's gonna be the game where
- 20:47Speaker 3: they shocked the world. They're coming out to two mans
- 20:50Speaker 3: against ILLINOI wrecords. I I think Nebraska wins that game
- 20:53Speaker 3: by seven. Somehow, some way they find a way to win.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Here First, I guess.
- 21:02Speaker 2: You have some crazy takes that actually happen sometimes, so
- 21:05Speaker 2: maybe you can hope that that comes that that actually happens.
- 21:10Speaker 3: So and then the Iowa game, did you give your
- 21:15Speaker 3: score prediction on that one yet?
- 21:19Speaker 6: No?
- 21:20Speaker 3: I I think Nebraska's.
- 21:27Speaker 5: Well, that's a tough one.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Like you said, coin Flip, I think Nebraska wins that
- 21:30Speaker 3: game by three. Finally, fine flips and on them that
- 21:34Speaker 3: the worst part, by Eyeway is it always this is
- 21:37Speaker 3: if they do come up being Ohio State, they're gonna
- 21:38Speaker 3: momentum going. It kind of feels like the freaking Sweet
- 21:40Speaker 3: sixteen game when I'm going, everyone's just all hyped up, Oh,
- 21:43Speaker 3: let's go, let's go, and then I was just gonna
- 21:44Speaker 3: crush dreams like they always do.
- 21:46Speaker 5: That's the way it feels like it will to go.
- 21:48Speaker 3: But I think Iowa is gonna be they haven't picked
- 21:54Speaker 3: the quarterback yet, which that doesn't matter, and they're they're
- 21:57Speaker 3: when the Fens Blinds, you know, are always going to
- 21:59Speaker 3: be tough. I think the brass is gonna win by three.
- 22:02Speaker 3: It will be a low scoring game against seventeen fourteen.
- 22:07Speaker 4: You do remember how last year and Lincoln went.
- 22:10Speaker 5: No, No, I've lost memory of that.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, So here's I mean overall, breaking down our schedule
- 22:18Speaker 2: and and we went through each game. I think that
- 22:23Speaker 2: there's three games we're not going to lose. There's three
- 22:26Speaker 2: games that we're not gonna win. Now, you picked this
- 22:30Speaker 2: over Ohio State. Some people think Indiana, don't throw into
- 22:33Speaker 2: that category. I think both of those ways.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Both ways.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I think we have an equally chance of losing one
- 22:41Speaker 2: of the first three versus winning one of those other
- 22:43Speaker 2: three against Indiana, Ohio State, and Oregon. So take those,
- 22:49Speaker 2: you know, write those off on the end. Then you
- 22:52Speaker 2: look at our remaining six. I you know, I think
- 22:56Speaker 2: we talked about it. There'll be three of them at
- 22:58Speaker 2: Michigan State, the Maryland at home, and the.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Rutgers on the road.
- 23:03Speaker 2: We're going to be a touchdown to two touchdown favorite
- 23:06Speaker 2: and games we should win.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Games we've lost in the.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Past because we've been favorites and we've seen things go south.
- 23:16Speaker 2: But you know, if you take care of business in
- 23:19Speaker 2: those games, that gets you to your six wins and
- 23:21Speaker 2: your Bowl game. And I think, to me, if you
- 23:25Speaker 2: can at least a minimum do that, you're gonna keep
- 23:29Speaker 2: vibes I think relatively high now obviously the way games
- 23:33Speaker 2: go also matters, and scores and not yet blown out
- 23:36Speaker 2: and all of that that that matters too. But if
- 23:39Speaker 2: you can get those six, those are your we should
- 23:41Speaker 2: win those. And then you know, look at these other three.
- 23:45Speaker 2: You're at Illinois, you're Washington at home, and.
- 23:51Speaker 4: What's the other one I'm forgetting, oh I Iowa. Like
- 23:57Speaker 4: they're not.
- 23:57Speaker 2: We're not going to be heavy underdogs in any of
- 23:59Speaker 2: those games. You might even favorites depending on how the
- 24:01Speaker 2: year goes. In a couple of those, they're they're gonna
- 24:04Speaker 2: be I'm calling them coin flips. I'm calling them, you
- 24:08Speaker 2: know games we obviously have not won either in the past,
- 24:11Speaker 2: but they're they're winnable. And you know, I think best
- 24:15Speaker 2: case scenario for me, you win all those ego nine
- 24:18Speaker 2: and three, and I.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Don't think that's playoff worthy.
- 24:21Speaker 2: But I think that's that's a ceiling to me, right,
- 24:25Speaker 2: I think.
- 24:28Speaker 4: I don't.
- 24:28Speaker 2: I don't see it's going better than nine and three
- 24:30Speaker 2: under any circumstance. But like, I don't think that's you
- 24:33Speaker 2: can't look at our schedule and go that's impossible.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Now, it's tough, don't get me wrong.
- 24:38Speaker 2: But like the way I break that out with those
- 24:40Speaker 2: six games and then the other six games.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Like, we're not gonna be I don't.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Think, depending on how the schedule goes again the season goes,
- 24:48Speaker 2: we're not gonna be ten to fifteen point dogs in
- 24:52Speaker 2: those three games I just mentioned. So like you win
- 24:56Speaker 2: those best case scenario, we're nine and three, you lose
- 24:59Speaker 2: all of them, and then I and then I'm gonna
- 25:03Speaker 2: throw in for my floor.
- 25:05Speaker 4: You know, you don't win.
- 25:08Speaker 2: The three games that I said, we're touchdown favorite, maybe
- 25:11Speaker 2: one or two of those, you know, I think I
- 25:12Speaker 2: think you're looking at four and eight and and I
- 25:15Speaker 2: do think that's a possibility as well. If the doors
- 25:18Speaker 2: fall off, I think we're gonna get one of them somewhere.
- 25:20Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 25:22Speaker 2: I'm not gonna even try to pick which one, but like,
- 25:25Speaker 2: I think the doors could also fall off, and if
- 25:27Speaker 2: there's no momentum, no buying in the locker room, the
- 25:32Speaker 2: season could go south. And it could go south, especially
- 25:35Speaker 2: starting three and oh and then you lose to Michigan
- 25:38Speaker 2: State at the top, or lose to Maryland at the top,
- 25:41Speaker 2: or lose to both of them. I mean, you're you're talking,
- 25:44Speaker 2: you're talking very little excitement uh.
- 25:47Speaker 4: For from from a fans standpoint, and.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Obviously from a player's coaches in the locker room where
- 25:52Speaker 2: you're you are talking mid season firing, you're talking what's
- 25:58Speaker 2: next for Nebraska football if that happens. And I don't
- 26:00Speaker 2: think that's impossible. I think that's a very plausible scenario.
- 26:04Speaker 2: It is still my floor, but I think that could happen.
- 26:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I think seven and five with the schedule is the we.
- 26:25Speaker 4: My I just lost deck. I don't know.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's a great father there he is. We lost your
- 26:32Speaker 2: first second, you went you went frozen.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Oh oh well, it looks like it looks like I
- 26:38Speaker 3: forgot to take my phone Bill.
- 26:39Speaker 5: I guess that's not a shocker.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I don't you said, I just ended with break even.
- 26:45Speaker 2: You want to rehash what you just said?
- 26:48Speaker 3: I said, seven and five is like the the mark
- 26:51Speaker 3: I think it's a good season or not. You're below
- 26:53Speaker 3: that bad season. You're at seven five? You okay, season
- 26:57Speaker 3: above that great or good season? Anything above that's gravy.
- 27:03Speaker 4: You like gravy?
- 27:04Speaker 5: No, oh, uh, what.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I guess if you actually get to pick your record
- 27:13Speaker 2: and what you think we're gonna go. I here's how
- 27:16Speaker 2: I see it going. I said, I think I think
- 27:17Speaker 2: five and oh is very very.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Plausible.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I think if I had to pick, I'm just gonna
- 27:23Speaker 2: say we're gonna go five and oh. I don't see
- 27:26Speaker 2: that Indiana game going well. I don't see the Organ
- 27:28Speaker 2: game going well. Even I see it going worse than
- 27:31Speaker 2: the Indiana game. Unfortunately, as we look at the schedule
- 27:36Speaker 2: again here, I I just and until I see it,
- 27:40Speaker 2: it's just hard for me to say we're gonna win
- 27:42Speaker 2: that Washington game.
- 27:43Speaker 4: And I I do.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I just I I just see some of the wheels
- 27:48Speaker 2: falling off. I think that Washington game. There's two two
- 27:51Speaker 2: really big games in my mind for the season. One
- 27:54Speaker 2: is the Michigan State game because it is our first
- 27:58Speaker 2: test of the year. You lose that game, it's gonna
- 28:03Speaker 2: get ugly, I think for the rest of the year.
- 28:05Speaker 2: So I do think that to me is number one
- 28:07Speaker 2: most important from you know, because it comes first. But
- 28:11Speaker 2: the other big one is the Washington game because it
- 28:14Speaker 2: does reset you after the Indiana Organ which I don't
- 28:17Speaker 2: think you're gonna go well. You get the bye week,
- 28:19Speaker 2: you get a reset if there's something there in the
- 28:23Speaker 2: locker room and the players and the everything is.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Still on track. We go when we win that game.
- 28:32Speaker 4: If things are the opposite, you know it goes the
- 28:36Speaker 4: other way.
- 28:36Speaker 2: And if it goes bad in Lincoln in front of
- 28:40Speaker 2: the crowd on Halloween. I haven't heard a blackout announcement game.
- 28:44Speaker 2: That seems like the most ideal one to me. Like,
- 28:48Speaker 2: you're looking at a very tough, short week bounce back
- 28:52Speaker 2: at Illinois with little momentum. You're looking at Rutgers. That
- 28:58Speaker 2: a game that we've talked to you should win. But
- 29:01Speaker 2: if there's very little joy right now, you could lose out.
- 29:07Speaker 2: You're getting blown out by Ohio State, just like we
- 29:10Speaker 2: got blown out by a Penn State, and you're getting
- 29:12Speaker 2: blown out by Iowa like we got blown out last year.
- 29:15Speaker 2: So that's how that season could go. I see that
- 29:18Speaker 2: scenario happening most likely. I'm I'll give us a squeak
- 29:23Speaker 2: out like three point win against Rutgers, but I have
- 29:29Speaker 2: us going six and six as my official prediction making
- 29:34Speaker 2: a bowl game. I think if you can then make
- 29:37Speaker 2: that bowl game and find a way to win win it,
- 29:42Speaker 2: hopefully playing somebody that you can beat, we could have
- 29:47Speaker 2: a little bit of hope and encouragement. I'm going to
- 29:50Speaker 2: talk about progress more tomorrow in our Friday podcast and
- 29:55Speaker 2: what that looks like. But I think six and six
- 29:58Speaker 2: is my official prediction for this season, which would technically
- 30:02Speaker 2: be the under in the wind total being six.
- 30:05Speaker 5: And a half. I have just gone eight and four.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I think I think Calvin Calandria Jesus, if I could
- 30:14Speaker 3: learn the quarterbacks name, I think he is kind of
- 30:17Speaker 3: what Rule wants to work with as a quarterback.
- 30:20Speaker 5: He's he's better than Jest Samers. But he can move.
- 30:23Speaker 3: He can move, and I've been watching I've been watched
- 30:26Speaker 3: a lot of tape on him now and it's coming
- 30:27Speaker 3: on Twitter highlights. He can move. It looks like he's
- 30:32Speaker 3: kind of fixed this her normal problem a little bit
- 30:33Speaker 3: from when he was younger. If he can just rain
- 30:37Speaker 3: that in a little bit, I think it's gonna be great.
- 30:40Speaker 3: And I have saw there working on the option on
- 30:42Speaker 3: that practice. I don't know if he saw that.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you like that?
- 30:49Speaker 3: I do now, Well they break it out, probably not,
- 30:52Speaker 3: but I yeah, eight and four is what I am
- 30:58Speaker 3: going so take the over.
- 31:01Speaker 4: All, right, But that'll be it for today.
- 31:04Speaker 2: We'll be back tomorrow morning on Friday. As we continue
- 31:07Speaker 2: to get through the preseason. Uh here in fall camp.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Football season's back. Got some NFL games tonight, a big
- 31:16Speaker 2: slate of them. Dak and I were just talking how
- 31:19Speaker 2: awesome it is to have football. It's like you can
- 31:21Speaker 2: put I can't put everything else to the side. But
- 31:24Speaker 2: once August hits, I mean, it's go time and we're
- 31:27Speaker 2: creeping up here as we get closer to our first
- 31:30Speaker 2: game against Ohio, which is a week later. I just
- 31:33Speaker 2: I looked at the you know, September whatever.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I that everything.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Got pushed back, which kind of sucks, But it'll be
- 31:40Speaker 2: here before you know it.
- 31:43Speaker 3: They'll be Red, Go be Red.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Life chase, but the missis States Memorial Stadium, the PBA days,
- 31:53Speaker 1: ball Saturdays, basketball nights, every story chasing red and White,
- 31:58Speaker 1: recruiting buzz, big time to champatles, coaching hits, transfer moves,
- 32:04Speaker 1: and rising stars.
- 32:05Speaker 4: The road to glories never fall.
- 32:09Speaker 1: This is return to Glory, where every headline.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Tells the story Big.
- 32:14Speaker 6: Red Bride every season, Husker Nations, God res a from
- 32:20Speaker 6: touchdown stocks and championship dreams will be back with the
- 32:24Speaker 6: latest rum.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Every team until next time. Keeps the faith, keep.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Believing, because the return to glory it's just begin.
- 32:34Speaker 4: Go Big Roup, see you next episode
