- 0:17Speaker 1: Return to Glory podcast. Another bye week took last midweek
- 0:24Speaker 1: episode off. We're back here on Monday evening, November eleventh,
- 0:31Speaker 1: just after the big announcement of Dana Holderson being officially
- 0:38Speaker 1: named the offensive coordinator for the rest of the year.
- 0:45Speaker 1: So we've been since last game. We knew there were
- 0:49Speaker 1: new people coming in. We knew Dana was coming in,
- 0:53Speaker 1: and on top of a defensive guy that has helped
- 0:58Speaker 1: has been helping Rule all year. Wasn't really new, but
- 1:02Speaker 1: Dana Holderson comes in to fix all the offensive problems.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Nobody really knew what the capacity was. There's obviously chatter
- 1:08Speaker 1: and talk about the future twenty twenty five, and Rule
- 1:15Speaker 1: just came out and said it. He's calling plays the
- 1:19Speaker 1: rest of the year.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It's only a reflection of this year, he says, this
- 1:25Speaker 2: is not an indictment for the future.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I think he's taking it on a very game by game,
- 1:33Speaker 1: day to day basis, which I think is smart. I
- 1:37Speaker 1: think Rule, as he's always been very political, has a
- 1:41Speaker 1: good political sense, a very good I tea of what
- 1:45Speaker 1: people are going to make a big deal about, and
- 1:48Speaker 1: he's basically just saying, well, this is where we're at,
- 1:51Speaker 1: this is what We're exciting. This is what we're doing
- 1:53Speaker 1: for the rest of this year, and who knows where
- 1:57Speaker 1: it could end up in the future. But that's where
- 1:59Speaker 1: we're at here with three games to go, three games
- 2:03Speaker 1: that we probably won't be favored in. But as he spoke,
- 2:07Speaker 1: we need to find a way to score seven to
- 2:09Speaker 1: ten more points a game, which isn't unheard of to do.
- 2:13Speaker 1: But clearly the way the direction the offense is going
- 2:16Speaker 1: was not good. And went out and asked for help. Dak,
- 2:20Speaker 1: you've been calling this for a few weeks.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Yep, Finally my hat goes off the rule. I don't
- 2:27Speaker 3: know what changed in a week. Finally, good God, I
- 2:31Speaker 3: don't know. Maybe he noticed that Saderfield was just a
- 2:34Speaker 3: dead man walking and like I've been saying, just get
- 2:36Speaker 3: rid of him. There's no point keep him there. I mean,
- 2:38Speaker 3: he's still on the team. I don't know why. I'm
- 2:41Speaker 3: guessing he has to be probably one to say I
- 2:43Speaker 3: guess and I don't know, but I'm finally been calling.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Now Now the main thing is, which I hope happens,
- 2:51Speaker 3: is are they going to run the air raid right
- 2:53Speaker 3: out of the right out of the gun, just straight
- 2:55Speaker 3: from a straight from SAP. I don't know what Saturfield
- 2:58Speaker 3: ran nothing to an air raid, which the help happens,
- 3:04Speaker 3: because I don't think Ulgerson runs anything else with that
- 3:06Speaker 3: there raid either. He never had.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna get into that because I have a
- 3:11Speaker 1: lot of comments on what you just said. Here's before
- 3:15Speaker 1: we like dive into our true opinions and thoughts. How
- 3:20Speaker 1: rad our offense in the scale of like one to ten.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I'll even I'm not even broaden the scale a little more.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Let's go one to one hundred. Where would you like
- 3:29Speaker 1: our offense in total? Like, where was our offense at before?
- 3:33Speaker 1: I'll say immediately after last week.
- 3:36Speaker 2: We're not grading it.
- 3:37Speaker 4: This is on a true zero to one hundred scale,
- 3:40Speaker 4: like zero out.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Wise, No, just our offense in general, our offense zero
- 3:46Speaker 1: being the absolute worst offense ever to one hundred being
- 3:51Speaker 1: the best offense that college were balls ever seen.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Forty one, I can say forty.
- 3:59Speaker 1: God, you guys are a lot higher than I would
- 4:01Speaker 1: put it.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I'm looking at this as.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You know, you guys, I mean I would have it
- 4:08Speaker 1: down to.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Like a twenty.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Our offense was not good, guys at all. Production wise,
- 4:14Speaker 1: it was bad. I mean, look at look at the
- 4:16Speaker 1: look at where we ranked in the country and everything,
- 4:19Speaker 1: which includes some bad teams.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess I rank it that way.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Because I will say this. You guys both had a
- 4:32Speaker 1: forty out of ten, and I think the decision to
- 4:34Speaker 1: get to display sadderfield was a completely wrong one.
- 4:38Speaker 2: So interesting. Wow.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm like, if you guys think forty out of I
- 4:44Speaker 1: mean that's close to average. It's like an average Division
- 4:47Speaker 1: one offense.
- 4:47Speaker 3: You guys think, I I think there's some bad offense
- 4:51Speaker 3: out there.
- 4:51Speaker 2: There are some bad offenses out there.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Are you wouldn't say our offense has been bad?
- 4:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I think just in the Big ten alone you
- 4:59Speaker 3: have you're better than Michigan Iowa.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Are we Iowa?
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yes? I would be Yeah, I'll take your OFFENSEI over Iowa.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Just bye week, just like make you guys.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Rutgers.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Happened in the UCLA game, what happened in the Indiana game,
- 5:15Speaker 1: Ohio State, there were some good things. What happened in
- 5:17Speaker 1: the Purdue game, the Rutgers game. Our offense was not
- 5:20Speaker 1: good in any of those games. Dak. I'm mainly talking
- 5:24Speaker 1: to you because you've been the one that's saying it's
- 5:25Speaker 1: so bad. And then you just said forty out of
- 5:27Speaker 1: one hundred.
- 5:28Speaker 3: So now I'm like, maybe, man, I was thinking talent wise,
- 5:31Speaker 3: now if you I'm not.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I just said, rank our offense zero to one hundred.
- 5:35Speaker 1: You said forty.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I'm dropping that down.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I was. I was thinking more of do if you
- 5:42Speaker 1: believe it?
- 5:43Speaker 3: No, I was thinking more of what they should, like.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I should Where are we at? Where is our offense
- 5:48Speaker 1: at zero two, one hundred? Where's our offense at?
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's lowering forty twenty twenty twenty five. I think
- 5:57Speaker 3: you're so out of one hundred FBS team, you'd probably
- 6:01Speaker 3: be seventy fifth. I'd say around there.
- 6:04Speaker 2: We're ninety six one hundred twenty two.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Okay, so even lower than what I said about a quarter.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I just think play calling has a lot to do
- 6:15Speaker 3: with it. Like maybe I'll be wrong, maybe they come
- 6:18Speaker 3: out and throw six picks, who knows, but I just
- 6:22Speaker 3: a lot of play calling.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Okay. So now that we got Dak settled, Austin, are
- 6:26Speaker 1: you changing like I'm I'm at like twenty I might,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna go fifteen to twenty. As far as our offense,
- 6:32Speaker 1: like how it was performing, how effective it was, everything,
- 6:36Speaker 1: play calling talent wise, everything to do with our offense.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna put us at yeah, whatever, fifteen to twenty.
- 6:44Speaker 2: You could probably talk me down to thirty five.
- 6:46Speaker 4: But I don't know if I feel like I need
- 6:48Speaker 4: to go because I think there's talent there.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I'm not, but yeah, I don't. It's not what you
- 6:53Speaker 1: think should or could happen. It's what we've been showing.
- 6:57Speaker 1: What is our offense produced.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I'm not going lower at thirty five?
- 7:02Speaker 3: Well, God, like I said, you got to think how
- 7:04Speaker 3: many bad offenses like like like you were just saying a.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Lot of points on the board. So I think that
- 7:11Speaker 4: has changed a lot of things. So that's more of
- 7:13Speaker 4: a reflection of special teams than it is our offense.
- 7:16Speaker 3: You're probably maddle the road offense in the Big ten
- 7:18Speaker 3: easy yeah, with a big yeah. But the Big ten
- 7:22Speaker 3: is one of the worst.
- 7:24Speaker 1: So you put whatever that was then initial comment. Now
- 7:28Speaker 1: after hiring Holgerson or naming Holgerson as our offensive coordinator,
- 7:33Speaker 1: now where are we at.
- 7:37Speaker 2: The same. I really don't think it's going to impact
- 7:39Speaker 2: us that much. I really don't, Dak.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I would I think a lot better because I didn't.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I think you could put anybody with the brain in there,
- 7:51Speaker 3: maybe you have better offense. But it'll be interesting to see.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I mean, you can't run the ball already, and he's
- 7:59Speaker 3: not gonna run the ball, so I don't think that's
- 8:01Speaker 3: gonna change. But you're actually gonna air it out now.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Now that real is hurt.
- 8:10Speaker 1: You have an opinion, you have a thought. What are
- 8:12Speaker 1: you doing with your number?
- 8:15Speaker 3: I'm thinking, let's spin from twenty five to thirty for now. OK,
- 8:20Speaker 3: so not my work that great.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I'm not moving it at all either. I think the
- 8:25Speaker 1: general and dak I think speaking for a lot of
- 8:29Speaker 1: Oscar fans is just generally speaking, this is what they
- 8:32Speaker 1: think is going to happen, this is what his background is.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I think this takes away from and give people hope again.
- 8:39Speaker 1: The hope's the key word. You hope that whatever he
- 8:42Speaker 1: comes in and does works. I'm not moving my number
- 8:46Speaker 1: until I see it now. I will say it was
- 8:49Speaker 1: a good move simply because the fact of where I
- 8:51Speaker 1: had him at fifteen to twenty, it can't go down
- 8:53Speaker 1: much further. Like the floor, We're almost there now. You
- 8:57Speaker 1: guys had him quite a bit higher. So in theory,
- 9:00Speaker 1: if if things don't whatever this decision was is it good?
- 9:05Speaker 1: Then I guess it could go down a lot. In
- 9:09Speaker 1: my doomsday scenario, Pulwerkson comes in and yeah, Dak, I agree.
- 9:14Speaker 1: He does come in and does try to throw it
- 9:16Speaker 1: fifty five times a game, and that just does not
- 9:18Speaker 1: fit what we have at all. That could happen. I
- 9:21Speaker 1: don't think that it will, but that could make things worse.
- 9:24Speaker 1: We could start turning it over a lot again and
- 9:26Speaker 1: really not move the ball at all and not take
- 9:29Speaker 1: any time off the clock. That could happen. But I
- 9:32Speaker 1: think the move can only help us because we were
- 9:34Speaker 1: pretty much already I thought close to rock bottom. I
- 9:39Speaker 1: mean I was under the opinion two three four weeks ago.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I even said, what's gonna change Sadderfield? Like, what, this
- 9:46Speaker 1: isn't gonna do anything now if you name somebody else
- 9:48Speaker 1: as an offensive coordinator. That was also me not thinking
- 9:52Speaker 1: that we would hire somebody different. It was promoting within.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Why that's the thing I'm excuesse.
- 9:57Speaker 2: But we literally had two OC's on staff.
- 10:01Speaker 4: We had a co offensive coordinator and a regular offensive coordinator,
- 10:04Speaker 4: and then we still bring in Holgerson as an offensive
- 10:07Speaker 4: consultant and then within a week he's the offensive coordinator, Like,
- 10:11Speaker 4: how bad does it have to be?
- 10:12Speaker 1: It's interesting, Like the whole Holderson thing, it gives hope,
- 10:18Speaker 1: right because of what he's shown to do, Glenn Thomas
- 10:22Speaker 1: has not had the resume that Holgerson has neither a
- 10:26Speaker 1: sadder field obviously, but that was what Glenn Thomas was
- 10:29Speaker 1: kind of supposed to do. It's weird how that never
- 10:33Speaker 1: got brought up amongst conversation, because can everybody agree that
- 10:37Speaker 1: our offense sucked last year? Yeah, I mean, let's go
- 10:41Speaker 1: back to zero to one hundred. Where was our offense at.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I when not go that low thirty three.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I'm going back on my fifteen to twenty rank. I
- 10:52Speaker 1: don't think. I don't think we're any worse or better now.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Early in the year, I thought maybe we were up
- 10:56Speaker 1: closer to you know, to fifty. But we've once again
- 10:59Speaker 1: shown that our offense is not producing and we fixed
- 11:03Speaker 1: the thing that we thought was the problem was the quarterback.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And our run game has gotten you could say worse.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Our past game has not changed because it wasn't good
- 11:11Speaker 1: to begin with. We got maybe a better passing quarterback.
- 11:14Speaker 1: These receivers we brought in maybe aren't as good as
- 11:18Speaker 1: everybody's hype made it out to becker shocker. So we're
- 11:22Speaker 1: down here again at fifteen to twenty in my mind,
- 11:24Speaker 1: wherever your guys numbers are at, and we bring in Holderson,
- 11:28Speaker 1: who I guess has proven to say to produce offenses.
- 11:33Speaker 1: My cautions were one, Austin, what you say, like Glenn Thomas,
- 11:38Speaker 1: that was what he was supposed to do. No one,
- 11:40Speaker 1: no one is talking like what is he even doing.
- 11:44Speaker 1: He's coaching the quarterbacks, right like that's all we really
- 11:46Speaker 1: know and we're paying him money. Second hesitation, Now, he
- 11:53Speaker 1: did just get let go from Houston last year, so
- 11:59Speaker 1: maybe you know he just wanted to take some time off.
- 12:01Speaker 1: There's a reason why he didn't have a job. I
- 12:02Speaker 1: don't know what that reason is, if people didn't want him.
- 12:07Speaker 1: But he went four and eight last year Houston got
- 12:09Speaker 1: fired from his position. He did have a good turnaround
- 12:14Speaker 1: at Houston, though he went four to eight in his
- 12:16Speaker 1: first year. They got twelve and two in twenty twenty one,
- 12:20Speaker 1: and then they fell back to four and eight and
- 12:22Speaker 1: he got fired. Prior to that, he was at West Virginia,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I mean, he was a head coach there for seven
- 12:27Speaker 1: and a half years. Had a couple of really good
- 12:30Speaker 1: seasons there. I say really good, really good in Nebraska
- 12:34Speaker 1: terms eight and five, ten and three, seven, six, eight
- 12:37Speaker 1: and four, and then prior to that he was an
- 12:40Speaker 1: assistant at Houston. And then, as Dak has mentioned with
- 12:43Speaker 1: the air raid, he comes from the Mike Leach Tree
- 12:48Speaker 1: at Texas Tech. That's where he basically started his coaching
- 12:53Speaker 1: career there and built his way up, so he has
- 12:56Speaker 1: that track record. I think that's what the hope is.
- 12:59Speaker 1: When you hired Glenn to there was also hope that, Okay,
- 13:02Speaker 1: our office is going to get better from last year,
- 13:05Speaker 1: but it maybe did but didn't. I would say what
- 13:09Speaker 1: better it got was because of Dylan, But now Dylan,
- 13:12Speaker 1: Now Dylan's kind of been stagnant. So again I'm using
- 13:17Speaker 1: this word hope because I think that makes our potential
- 13:21Speaker 1: higher if we didn't make any changes at all. And
- 13:25Speaker 1: I think rule saw this from now until the end
- 13:27Speaker 1: of the year. Our offense, wherever your number is at,
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna go pick them to twenty. It wasn't. It
- 13:32Speaker 1: could have got better, but it wasn't getting much higher
- 13:34Speaker 1: than thirty. I mean, it was it was what it was.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Holgerson brings a fresh mind that the downside can't go
- 13:41Speaker 1: much further down, but it raises the upside of what
- 13:45Speaker 1: it could be, and it may not do any of that.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Just the news of getting him as the coach does
- 13:50Speaker 1: not change my opinion of our offense right now. It
- 13:52Speaker 1: gives a little more hope. But that's that's about it.
- 13:56Speaker 1: That's where I stand on the whole news. It's not
- 13:58Speaker 1: have nothing to do with I think we will be better.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I think this is going to solve things, but I
- 14:03Speaker 1: just won't say that until we actually see some production
- 14:06Speaker 1: on the field.
- 14:07Speaker 4: I still just think it's weird the timing. I mean,
- 14:10Speaker 4: is it safe to assume that he was operating as
- 14:12Speaker 4: the OC all of last week too when you up
- 14:16Speaker 4: as a consultant or is it truly like hey, over
- 14:19Speaker 4: the last couple of days.
- 14:22Speaker 1: So if you if you listen to Rule today, he
- 14:27Speaker 1: made it sound like he was brought and as a consultant,
- 14:29Speaker 1: he was not offered the offensive court right, so he
- 14:33Speaker 1: wanted to see if it was a good fit first.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But I think the intention was there at some point
- 14:39Speaker 1: in the future. I don't know if anybody thought of
- 14:41Speaker 1: was this soon. It does also sound like sadderfield New
- 14:46Speaker 1: where he was at, whether that be now or in
- 14:49Speaker 1: the future, probably not gonna be OC anymore. And he
- 14:52Speaker 1: kind of said, coach, let me know where he wants
- 14:53Speaker 1: me to go, Like, I'll do it. I've always said
- 14:58Speaker 1: the sadder Field is more of a of a soldier
- 15:01Speaker 1: than he has been his own person. I've always thought
- 15:04Speaker 1: that with him under rule, I don't think it's they.
- 15:08Speaker 1: They have a bigger friendship I think than people realize.
- 15:11Speaker 1: In Sodderfield is more of a yes man than people think.
- 15:15Speaker 1: With with our offense.
- 15:19Speaker 4: I mean, how does that work? I guess team dynamics.
- 15:24Speaker 4: What do you guys think the impact is? You still
- 15:26Speaker 4: have sat on the staff not calling, Like is it
- 15:31Speaker 4: truly just that Dan is just calling the plays but
- 15:35Speaker 4: sat still in charge of the Like I don't understand
- 15:38Speaker 4: there are now three offensive coordinators on this staff and
- 15:41Speaker 4: I do not understand. I cannot wrap my brain around
- 15:45Speaker 4: how the power structure is and like where the shake's
- 15:51Speaker 4: Like at the end of the year, you're just firing
- 15:53Speaker 4: these people. Are you demoting set? Are you demoting.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Back?
- 15:59Speaker 3: What do you think you had to ask sata Field
- 16:03Speaker 3: if you want to stay or not? Like I mean,
- 16:06Speaker 3: I mean, you tell him what's gonna happen today? Do
- 16:07Speaker 3: you want to stay on the staff or not? I mean,
- 16:09Speaker 3: I guess him and Rule got everybody's or something. I
- 16:12Speaker 3: don't know why he's still keeping on staff, but I
- 16:15Speaker 3: think that they asked him staying. I think he'll just
- 16:17Speaker 3: probably I didn't even stay out of it then that
- 16:20Speaker 3: Dana just take over. Basically, I think.
- 16:25Speaker 2: What million dollar pay cut stay as a tight ends coach.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Might now on the team or the whole coaching staff
- 16:34Speaker 3: for next year. I don't know.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Just just listen. I don't know if you guys did
- 16:38Speaker 1: or not. Go listen to Rule press conference. I think
- 16:41Speaker 1: it's a very important one from a there's a lot
- 16:43Speaker 1: of there's it's loaded like with a lot of stuff
- 16:47Speaker 1: that for a bye week there's not much talk about
- 16:51Speaker 1: USC yet, but for the future of the program, there's
- 16:55Speaker 1: a lot of stuff to like grasp onto and how
- 16:58Speaker 1: we talked about the strutt Sure, the offense was interesting.
- 17:03Speaker 1: He talked about how sad and like Garrett McGuire said, Hey,
- 17:09Speaker 1: like coach, let me know what you need. So here's
- 17:10Speaker 1: how I'm picturing it. Like picture. Holderson has had his
- 17:14Speaker 1: own offensive, his own like head coach, like he's the
- 17:17Speaker 1: head of the head of the castle. And all these
- 17:20Speaker 1: guys are just like they have one position. They said,
- 17:23Speaker 1: Stat's coaching the tight ends, Glenn Thomas coaching the quarterbacks.
- 17:28Speaker 1: E J. Barthel is still coaching the running backs, Garrett
- 17:31Speaker 1: McGuire still receivers, and Donnie still the online coach, and
- 17:34Speaker 1: they all are in charge of position. They're all feeding
- 17:36Speaker 1: information up through Holgerson, and then Holgerson ultimately is the
- 17:40Speaker 1: one deciding on how the offense functions. I don't think
- 17:43Speaker 1: the players are going to be as effected, I say,
- 17:45Speaker 1: I don't think. I hope they're not affected by it
- 17:48Speaker 1: all because they got it. They can't be. They can't
- 17:51Speaker 1: be idiots. Like our offense was not producing, so they
- 17:54Speaker 1: got to know, Okay, that wasn't working.
- 17:56Speaker 4: And there's no real change. You know, Sat was already
- 17:59Speaker 4: coaching the tight end and then he was also the OC,
- 18:01Speaker 4: So I mean, really, you just took away one responsibility
- 18:05Speaker 4: that no, you're not gonna have that much interaction with
- 18:08Speaker 4: him as far as like quarterbacks and receivers and stuff.
- 18:11Speaker 1: But and I completely the whole people. Some people are
- 18:15Speaker 1: complaining about SATs staying on staff and the money thing.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Why are we still paying this guy? I agree, we're
- 18:21Speaker 1: not gonna be paying him an offensive coordinator salary probably
- 18:23Speaker 1: in the future. But guys, money thing is now when
- 18:28Speaker 1: we talk about the stadium and Troy Dannen and his
- 18:31Speaker 1: conversation with the Husker online guy, it's a little bit
- 18:34Speaker 1: different topic. But like money thing is. I know, people say, oh,
- 18:40Speaker 1: we don't we're paying all the past coaches all this
- 18:43Speaker 1: extra money. Oh Unfortunately, it's a society and cultural ball
- 18:47Speaker 1: landscape that we live in. Like coaches are gonna get
- 18:50Speaker 1: paid that. It's just the reality of it, and it's
- 18:52Speaker 1: it might not be quote unquote fair, and you think
- 18:55Speaker 1: that they're making too much money. I totally get it,
- 18:57Speaker 1: but that's the reality. That's the market and to keep
- 19:01Speaker 1: people around and paying them eight hundred and seventy five
- 19:04Speaker 1: thousand dollars to be a tight ends coach like versus
- 19:09Speaker 1: hiring someone new for five hundred and fifty thousand, I
- 19:13Speaker 1: get it. Three hundred thousand dollars a lot of money,
- 19:15Speaker 1: But when it comes to a budget standpoint, I mean,
- 19:18Speaker 1: I don't know in a continuity standpoint. So I think again,
- 19:21Speaker 1: we got a fresh face of fresh mind that's going
- 19:25Speaker 1: to take a different approach to what we're doing now.
- 19:28Speaker 1: That being said, Dack, what I don't think what you
- 19:31Speaker 1: said earlier is feasible. We're not going to go to
- 19:32Speaker 1: the air raid. It's just not going to happen. It's
- 19:36Speaker 1: not We can't can't do that in one week or
- 19:38Speaker 1: two weeks and say all right, the air raid systems implemented,
- 19:42Speaker 1: fire or away, like it will not happen.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Well, I was just looking on there to see if
- 19:46Speaker 3: he ever, if he ever didn't run the air raid,
- 19:50Speaker 3: and he did. I didn't know this, but he was
- 19:52Speaker 3: the OC when Ary Morgan was at Minnesota so awful offense,
- 19:56Speaker 3: and then he was OC. I don't know. They never
- 19:59Speaker 3: said for sure what he was. I'm guessing to know
- 20:00Speaker 3: c on these teams. And then he was the OC
- 20:02Speaker 3: at Michigan State when Peyton Thorne was a quarterback, and
- 20:05Speaker 3: I saw the ranked like ninety eighth then offense, So
- 20:08Speaker 3: he can't he has not ran the air raid before.
- 20:13Speaker 3: It hasn't worked at all. But I don't know. I don't.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I hope Nebraska does come out just run the air raid, yeah,
- 20:20Speaker 3: fit and just chuck it all over the field.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You better, you better check your I don't know what
- 20:25Speaker 1: source you're looking at. Like he was never at Minnesota.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I don't know who you're looking at. Who are you
- 20:32Speaker 1: hold on? You're not You're not on Dana Holgerson twenty eighteen.
- 20:38Speaker 1: He's at West Virginia in twenty eighteen.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Are there two Dana Holgersons?
- 20:45Speaker 3: Okay, well, yeah, I don't know what. I don't know
- 20:53Speaker 3: what you Yeah, I know what this.
- 20:56Speaker 1: But here's okay, So you're here hitting out of point
- 21:00Speaker 1: I want to get to because I think it's important
- 21:02Speaker 1: when people think.
- 21:03Speaker 3: About, okay they were doing they were doing to like
- 21:10Speaker 3: comparing these offenses to his offenses. So he was never
- 21:12Speaker 3: at any of those teams. So just like I didn't
- 21:15Speaker 3: say that.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Quality journalism here books.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Hey, you're you're getting on the hot seat, just like
- 21:21Speaker 1: your Oklahoma team. You're on the hot seat for bringing
- 21:24Speaker 1: that up.
- 21:27Speaker 3: The more you read.
- 21:28Speaker 1: So what Holgerson's style or what his coaching tree stems
- 21:34Speaker 1: from is Mike Leach. I think the casual fan definitely
- 21:39Speaker 1: categorizes coaches, any coach, any sport into this coach likes
- 21:44Speaker 1: to run or this, Their style is this, And I
- 21:46Speaker 1: do think that given the ideal situation, everybody knows what
- 21:50Speaker 1: they know and what they grew up on, what they
- 21:52Speaker 1: were taught, what they believe in. Now, you can obviously
- 21:56Speaker 1: expand your library of systems and schemes as a coordinator,
- 22:02Speaker 1: as a coach of any sport, but ultimately, what you
- 22:06Speaker 1: believe in and what you know is what you grew
- 22:08Speaker 1: up on. So that's going to be in there now.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I think there's this big scale here, and I'm putting
- 22:15Speaker 1: on two spectrums. We kind of mentioned it last week.
- 22:17Speaker 1: There's a scale of like, this is the offense I'm
- 22:20Speaker 1: gonna run given whatever players I have. This is what
- 22:24Speaker 1: I believe in, this is what I know, This is
- 22:26Speaker 1: all I'm going to do. I don't care who I'm given,
- 22:28Speaker 1: I don't care what the team has, and I'm gonna
- 22:30Speaker 1: do that. Then there's the flip side of saying I'm
- 22:33Speaker 1: not gonna do anything. I'm gonna wait to see what
- 22:36Speaker 1: my team has and I'm going to do everything that
- 22:39Speaker 1: fits the team the best, and I don't care what
- 22:43Speaker 1: my beliefs are my thoughts. If a team has all
- 22:47Speaker 1: ninety nine speed receivers and fits the air raid, then
- 22:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna come into that. So I think that there's
- 22:55Speaker 1: a scale of a lot of scales. Today's zero to
- 22:58Speaker 1: one hundred. Every time this situation that's happening now, it
- 23:03Speaker 1: falls somewhere in the middle. Now, sometimes I think it
- 23:06Speaker 1: can lean more towards this is what I believe, and
- 23:08Speaker 1: this is what I'm gonna do. I don't care the players.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I think we saw that with Scott Frost early on.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Scott Frost came in and said I'm gonna do what
- 23:15Speaker 1: I want and he tried, but didn't have the players
- 23:17Speaker 1: to do that. Early on in his year, I don't
- 23:19Speaker 1: think he was one hundred percent doing everything he wanted
- 23:21Speaker 1: to do. They were still somewhat trying to fit what
- 23:23Speaker 1: we had. There's also a situation where you come in
- 23:27Speaker 1: and Holderson. I think he's going to do this a
- 23:28Speaker 1: little more. Okay, here's what we actually have. So what
- 23:33Speaker 1: we're hoping is him identifying the players that are on
- 23:36Speaker 1: this roster during this two weeks, he's gonna be able
- 23:39Speaker 1: to put something together from a schematic standpoint from all
- 23:44Speaker 1: of his past coaching in tree history successities had and
- 23:47Speaker 1: produce something better than what it is now. I think
- 23:50Speaker 1: that's very possible. I think hiring somebody with the experience
- 23:54Speaker 1: that he has is going to help. Now that experience
- 23:58Speaker 1: the caveat is more of that air raid coaching tree.
- 24:01Speaker 1: But he knows he's not. He just doesn't just know that.
- 24:05Speaker 1: He knows other things. So anyways, that's my thought on
- 24:08Speaker 1: like when he comes in and what he's gonna try
- 24:10Speaker 1: to do, it falls somewhere in the middle. We don't
- 24:13Speaker 1: know where that's gonna be. You think, you hope that
- 24:16Speaker 1: he uses what we have, but again some people would
- 24:18Speaker 1: ask what do we have?
- 24:19Speaker 2: But you honestly hope that he just has present at motions.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I mean, just doing that, you're gonna feel better about everything.
- 24:26Speaker 3: He's been in football wait too long to only know
- 24:28Speaker 3: the area. Like he definitely knows what my offense is
- 24:30Speaker 3: the run, like like you said, that's a specialty. So
- 24:33Speaker 3: he's he's gonna come in and find an offense that
- 24:39Speaker 3: work best for the players that Nebraska has, and it'll
- 24:42Speaker 3: be like I do think he'll be a lot more
- 24:44Speaker 3: pass happy, that's for sure.
- 24:46Speaker 1: But so you're right, well, you just said he's going
- 24:48Speaker 1: to fit what we have, but he's gonna merge his
- 24:51Speaker 1: concepts and ideas of his system into it. So again,
- 24:55Speaker 1: there's like this middle ground where nobody really knows what
- 24:58Speaker 1: it's gonna look like, but we just hope it produces
- 25:01Speaker 1: something better. The hard part is there's three games to
- 25:04Speaker 1: do it, and it's hard to know how much, how
- 25:08Speaker 1: how far do you go with implementing new stuff versus
- 25:12Speaker 1: your current stuff. The only thing that you can hope
- 25:15Speaker 1: is that Holgerson knows what that is and at this
- 25:18Speaker 1: point in the season and you're kind of throwing your
- 25:20Speaker 1: chips at him and saying, here you go, Like.
- 25:23Speaker 4: I mean, it's it's help kind of high I don't
- 25:27Speaker 4: want to say high risk for Holgerson, but if you've
- 25:29Speaker 4: come into the offense somehow it looks a little bit
- 25:31Speaker 4: worse or not better and we don't make a Bowl game.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Maybe I don't I for him, I think there's almost
- 25:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I think there's already little risk for
- 25:43Speaker 1: all parties involved. I'll be honest, because, like I said,
- 25:45Speaker 1: we were at a fifteen before. So yeah, there's a
- 25:48Speaker 1: risk that we do get beat our last three games
- 25:50Speaker 1: and look like dog shit still on offense, Like no
- 25:52Speaker 1: one's gonna say, ah shit, well, shouldn't have brought Holgerson in. No,
- 25:56Speaker 1: it's already been like really bad. So it's not like
- 26:00Speaker 1: it's gonna ruin everything. That's why when people have asked me,
- 26:03Speaker 1: what are your thoughts, I'm like, it can't hurt, Like,
- 26:06Speaker 1: what's it gonna hurt? Because if it does go south,
- 26:08Speaker 1: but it can't go south much further Offensively, I guess
- 26:12Speaker 1: we could start turning it over again and lose our
- 26:14Speaker 1: last games by forty each. I guess that could happen.
- 26:16Speaker 1: But are we favored to win any of these? Maybe
- 26:20Speaker 1: Wisconsin home. I don't know.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Well, it's basically like a three game interview he's on
- 26:26Speaker 3: right now, and I don't think he's like he doesn't
- 26:28Speaker 3: if it doesn't work out, only he's gonna be too
- 26:30Speaker 3: beat up about it. He's already set for life with that.
- 26:33Speaker 1: See, I don't. I don't think it's a three game interview.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I don't think that way.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Do you think if Sure come back next year?
- 26:40Speaker 1: No, I don't. I don't think he has anything to
- 26:42Speaker 1: prove here, as I'm deserved to be the head coach,
- 26:45Speaker 1: I or the offensive coordinator. I don't think he has
- 26:47Speaker 1: anything to prove. I think he's coming in with the
- 26:50Speaker 1: fresh set of eyes and he's gonna do his best,
- 26:52Speaker 1: and it's gonna be up to him, ultimately up to
- 26:55Speaker 1: him whether he comes back or not. I truly do
- 26:58Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think that if it's people are
- 27:01Speaker 1: going to go, oh my god, Holgerson was terrible. I
- 27:04Speaker 1: don't think it's gonna happen. The only reason why it
- 27:09Speaker 1: could happen is that people truly, truly, truly believe right
- 27:12Speaker 1: now and have their expectations. Might say, people the decision
- 27:16Speaker 1: makers have their expectations of our offense going from a
- 27:18Speaker 1: fifteen to a sixty. I don't. I hope it does,
- 27:23Speaker 1: but I don't expect that. I don't think Rule expects that.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I just think we needed a fresh face and a
- 27:28Speaker 1: fresh look because the current situation was not working at all.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean, do you just hope it works?
- 27:41Speaker 2: You hate to change.
- 27:42Speaker 4: I obviously we last three in a row, but we
- 27:44Speaker 4: did win five the other way.
- 27:47Speaker 1: We want to die the other way. But I mean,
- 27:49Speaker 1: I guess you can look at how we won those games.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Yeah, like you said, it can't hurt.
- 27:57Speaker 1: My other like comment on the Holgerson thing, I was
- 28:01Speaker 1: just watching his interview and some random lady commented on it,
- 28:04Speaker 1: like I have a lot of respect for Rule all
- 28:06Speaker 1: great leaders know when to ask for help. Completely agree
- 28:10Speaker 1: like that. That's a very that's a very strong statement
- 28:14Speaker 1: that I think Rule understands. This also comes back to
- 28:18Speaker 1: my point last week after the UCLA game in the
- 28:21Speaker 1: signs that you know, people didn't want to believe that. Unfortunately, guys,
- 28:26Speaker 1: maybe this coaching staff just isn't competent, isn't knowledgeable of
- 28:32Speaker 1: some of the not gonna call him complex things. Real
- 28:34Speaker 1: mentioned the complexity, but like how to implement a scheme,
- 28:38Speaker 1: and like Sadurfield has not been good anywhere, and everybody
- 28:41Speaker 1: kept saying that, and I was like, oh, I don't know,
- 28:43Speaker 1: maybe well maybe he maybe he doesn't just know and
- 28:46Speaker 1: guess what you surround him. Why is Dak on her song?
- 28:52Speaker 3: I don't know what happened, but the first one just.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Incredible.
- 28:59Speaker 3: I don't know how that happened. It just dropped. And
- 29:04Speaker 3: now I'm on the here twice. I don't know.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I don't think that I lost my complete train of
- 29:13Speaker 1: thought now that I'm staring at Dak's frozen face. Anyways,
- 29:19Speaker 1: I don't know what I was saying, but I just
- 29:22Speaker 1: think that didn't help.
- 29:24Speaker 2: The lady made the comment.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Yeah, so Rule got help. I just don't know that
- 29:29Speaker 1: this coaching staff was competent to begin with. And again
- 29:33Speaker 1: going back to it can't hurt DANEA has got a
- 29:35Speaker 1: lot of experience on the offensive side and it's worked
- 29:38Speaker 1: where it's been so Sadderfield, we really didn't know if
- 29:43Speaker 1: he actually knew what Like someone high school coach was
- 29:47Speaker 1: saying in the red zone, a simple mesh concept in
- 29:51Speaker 1: the red zone is very effective, Like we never run
- 29:54Speaker 1: that once, Like the Sadderfield not know simple adjustments to
- 29:57Speaker 1: make as an offensive coordinator. Garrett maguire, if that SAT's
- 30:01Speaker 1: right hand man, guess what, the guy's not even thirty, Like,
- 30:05Speaker 1: he's not going to have the experience. And I'll say
- 30:09Speaker 1: it the courage to go to satur Field and say, nope,
- 30:12Speaker 1: this is all wrong what we're doing. So I think
- 30:15Speaker 1: doing this basically brings in a guy that does have
- 30:18Speaker 1: a lot of knowledge. Now granted it recently has failed
- 30:22Speaker 1: a little bit, but it just brings a whole fresh
- 30:24Speaker 1: face and these younger, more incompetent coaches can go to
- 30:29Speaker 1: him and say, what do you need from me? But
- 30:31Speaker 1: how can we merge what we're already doing into what
- 30:35Speaker 1: you think big picture of an of an offense, and
- 30:39Speaker 1: that's what that's what Holderson's gonna do. Like he's not
- 30:41Speaker 1: in charge of a position, he is going to oversee
- 30:43Speaker 1: the entire offense. Because I'll say it, I don't know
- 30:45Speaker 1: that Rule knows offense very well. I don't. I don't
- 30:48Speaker 1: think he does. So you bring in a guy that does.
- 30:51Speaker 1: And it's good that Rule has a good relationship with
- 30:55Speaker 1: a lot of these guys. You just hope it again,
- 30:58Speaker 1: use that word hope that we're out in the long run.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Did you guys read that Reddit thread I sent you
- 31:07Speaker 4: when Sanafield got hired as Nebraska's OC.
- 31:14Speaker 2: It was pretty hilarious if you actually.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't either. I don't know if I got it.
- 31:19Speaker 2: I thought I texted it to you guys. Anyways, it was.
- 31:24Speaker 4: It's pretty funny to read back through the comments and
- 31:26Speaker 4: there's a bunch of people basically from West Virginia or
- 31:29Speaker 4: not West Virginia, South Carolina or like in three years.
- 31:31Speaker 4: In two to three years, you guys are gonna regret
- 31:33Speaker 4: this higher. He doesn't do anything on offense that's complicated,
- 31:37Speaker 4: and it's just very frustrating to watch. He'll have a
- 31:39Speaker 4: couple of high games, but other than that you're just
- 31:42Speaker 4: gonna drive you want to play your hair out. It's
- 31:44Speaker 4: pretty funny.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I didn't. I'm reading it. Yeah, I know, I see
- 31:48Speaker 1: it now.
- 31:49Speaker 3: I said that when they hired him, why why did
- 31:51Speaker 3: they do the beginning? He wasn't good at South Carolina
- 31:54Speaker 3: at all, Like South Caroline got way better after he left,
- 31:58Speaker 3: and he didn't have good for sure either, but they
- 32:01Speaker 3: they decided to bring him back again.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Okay, so this is a perfect transition to my next
- 32:06Speaker 1: big thought. And shout out Cooper Weeks for bringing this
- 32:10Speaker 1: up too and making me think about it deeper this year,
- 32:14Speaker 1: especially like wasting I'm gonna call it wasting nine games
- 32:18Speaker 1: with Saturfield as a ROC because last year we knew
- 32:21Speaker 1: our offense wasn't good. But let's just even go back
- 32:23Speaker 1: to when we hired When we hired Rule and he
- 32:27Speaker 1: brought Saturnfield along, back to this Reddit post of people
- 32:30Speaker 1: saying you're gonna regret it this guys, I'm gonna say it.
- 32:35Speaker 1: This was a big, big mistake by Rule, and I
- 32:38Speaker 1: think his friendship and his closeness relationship with Marcus Sadderfield
- 32:45Speaker 1: have been a big flaw. Now you trust people in
- 32:49Speaker 1: the sport, you trust people and your coaching circle. Saturdfield
- 32:54Speaker 1: worked with Rule at Temple. You go look at Temple's offenses.
- 32:57Speaker 1: They weren't They were okay, but they weren't great. You
- 33:01Speaker 1: mentioned his history like it might looking back on it
- 33:05Speaker 1: and Rule might regret it too, like it was a
- 33:07Speaker 1: big mistake and he was just so close to Sadderfield
- 33:09Speaker 1: where his flaws or the things that weren't working, he
- 33:13Speaker 1: just hung on to it longer than he should have.
- 33:15Speaker 2: And that hope that it's more of a Sadderfield came in.
- 33:20Speaker 4: He's really good at establishing the culture of what the
- 33:23Speaker 4: expectation is at as an offense and that all we
- 33:27Speaker 4: do is need to plug in a better play caller.
- 33:30Speaker 1: That's the hope that you hope. Yeah, that is what
- 33:32Speaker 1: you hope because it does it just it just feels
- 33:36Speaker 1: like a man like if these guys are really that close,
- 33:39Speaker 1: and you know, you can go back and look at
- 33:41Speaker 1: Scott Frost's buddies that he had on his coaching staff too.
- 33:45Speaker 1: In flaws there that can be tough, Like your coaching
- 33:49Speaker 1: staff obviously has to have good chemistry for things to
- 33:52Speaker 1: work really well, but at the same time you can
- 33:54Speaker 1: be blinded by some of it if you trust him
- 33:55Speaker 1: too much. And again if rule does not know his
- 33:58Speaker 1: offense that well, and you say, Sad, it's yours. Good luck.
- 34:02Speaker 1: But Sad doesn't really know what he's doing, which is
- 34:06Speaker 1: showing that he probably didn't. Then that probably cost us
- 34:10Speaker 1: and set us back in rules tenure. And that can't
- 34:13Speaker 1: feel good. Now we have a new face, Now we
- 34:16Speaker 1: have a new look. We'll see. We messed up on
- 34:18Speaker 1: the quarterback year one. That was that was the reason
- 34:23Speaker 1: that was the scapegoat for year one. We said, ah,
- 34:27Speaker 1: maybe offense isn't that bad. Maybe Sadurfield doesn't know what
- 34:30Speaker 1: he's doing. It's got to givehim quarterback. But we got
- 34:31Speaker 1: a quarterback. They're back basically to where we were. We're
- 34:35Speaker 1: not turning it over as much, knock on wood. But
- 34:40Speaker 1: it still didn't work. So I just want to say
- 34:42Speaker 1: that it's a really good thought. It makes you wonder,
- 34:45Speaker 1: did we kind of waste an offense here for the
- 34:49Speaker 1: past couple of years.
- 34:50Speaker 4: At least we might have only wasted one year of
- 34:52Speaker 4: an offense half not even a full year of an offense.
- 34:57Speaker 2: A year of an offense, you.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Know, all things considered, we might have caught it might
- 35:02Speaker 4: have gotten caught early enough.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Last year was a culture establishing year. We didn't have
- 35:10Speaker 2: a good quarterback. That was kind of on them.
- 35:13Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean three fourths away through this year,
- 35:17Speaker 4: it's like, Okay, this offense isn't working.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Were switching it up and maybe that's all we need.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Maybe that's what we hope, that's what.
- 35:25Speaker 3: We hope already two years then the rules made two
- 35:28Speaker 3: terrible offense decisions have kind of killed your seasons both years.
- 35:34Speaker 3: You already know. The first year was Jeff Simms. He
- 35:37Speaker 3: that was his decision right there, bring him in.
- 35:39Speaker 2: We also don't know what the other options were head
- 35:41Speaker 2: quarterback his first year.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Yeah, but I I mean.
- 35:47Speaker 1: And you don't know if that rules or if that
- 35:49Speaker 1: sadder Field they couldn't want hand in hand.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Yeah, but then you have bringing Sackfield and that's another
- 35:54Speaker 3: terrible like two years and he's not proven ease, he's
- 35:59Speaker 3: a little ola. Yeah what has he done yet?
- 36:05Speaker 1: So that's the whole negative. The whole downside to it is, Yeah,
- 36:09Speaker 1: you can say, oh, we haven't wasted really anything. Maybe
- 36:11Speaker 1: we caught it early enough. Well, if we wouldn't had
- 36:13Speaker 1: to catch anything at the beginning, because it was all Okay,
- 36:17Speaker 1: then things could look very different in year two and
- 36:19Speaker 1: we aren't fighting for another win to get to a
- 36:23Speaker 1: bowl game. I mean, Dak's kind of Dak sometimes has
- 36:27Speaker 1: very generic takes with a lot of things, but like
- 36:29Speaker 1: these two big, big things he's been right on with
- 36:34Speaker 1: Sadderfield and with Jeff Simms, and it does. It gozes
- 36:40Speaker 1: all the way back to Huscar fans being blinded by
- 36:43Speaker 1: some of the obvious things that are right in front
- 36:46Speaker 1: of us that don't work. So again, nothing's ruined. There's
- 36:53Speaker 1: still a lot of season left. It is bye week,
- 36:55Speaker 1: so this is the kind of stuff we talk about
- 36:56Speaker 1: and changes. But yeah, we're five and four, still with
- 37:00Speaker 1: a chance to still win a bowl game that would
- 37:02Speaker 1: be huge, or make it to a ball game and
- 37:04Speaker 1: potentially win that would be huge for the program, be
- 37:07Speaker 1: huge for rule. You don't do that. It's a little
- 37:11Speaker 1: scary rules starting. And I like this, I really do
- 37:16Speaker 1: like this. He's starting to get short and a little
- 37:19Speaker 1: bit snippy with the media, and I like it because
- 37:23Speaker 1: it shows that you're not worried and caring about the
- 37:27Speaker 1: general public, about people that really have no impact on
- 37:30Speaker 1: your program. Now, maybe from a recruiting standpoint, a little
- 37:33Speaker 1: bit they have say and push on social media. But
- 37:38Speaker 1: he even told them, He's like, we're not bringing Holderson out,
- 37:43Speaker 1: We're not bringing other coaches out this week, Like we're
- 37:45Speaker 1: gonna start keeping stuff more in house. You guys are
- 37:48Speaker 1: really good at your job. As the way he worded it,
- 37:50Speaker 1: so he knows that whatever gets said is going to
- 37:52Speaker 1: get twisted a billion ways, as it always does. And
- 37:57Speaker 1: I like that, Like, I just say it as it is, Matt, Like,
- 38:00Speaker 1: I like the media and the fans have no obligation
- 38:04Speaker 1: that some people might disagree with that have no right
- 38:08Speaker 1: to know the details of what's going on. I think
- 38:12Speaker 1: media is for the most part, is just kind of ridiculous.
- 38:14Speaker 1: It keeps the fans informed. I guess it's why it's
- 38:16Speaker 1: an entertainment business, but it But when that starts happening,
- 38:23Speaker 1: that's when you start seeing coaches start to get because
- 38:27Speaker 1: all that does is starts starting new new articles and
- 38:31Speaker 1: different things, and media gets pissed at you and they
- 38:33Speaker 1: start throwing this and this next thing, you know, you're
- 38:35Speaker 1: on the hot seat for really nothing because the media
- 38:38Speaker 1: made that a thing. Like that's how.
- 38:43Speaker 4: This was like this last the last two weeks, the
- 38:46Speaker 4: world Harold Like, I don't really remember a time during
- 38:50Speaker 4: frost any where they're like, hey, you gotta fire, like
- 38:54Speaker 4: during the year. I feel like that there was a
- 38:56Speaker 4: little more bite this year for the old world, Harold
- 38:59Speaker 4: Like simple an article about how it's time to get
- 39:01Speaker 4: earn a sadder field, and I just feel like therecasts.
- 39:09Speaker 1: That what a lot of them say it the quote
- 39:11Speaker 1: they always say, the fans deserve more. The fans deserve more.
- 39:16Speaker 1: The more they put why tell me why, I mean,
- 39:20Speaker 1: outside of maybe donating money, why do we fans? We're fans, Like,
- 39:28Speaker 1: so that's why they That's why that I think they're
- 39:31Speaker 1: getting a little bit the media themselves are getting a
- 39:34Speaker 1: little bit short and snippy with a lot of things.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Is because they try to back the fans up because
- 39:39Speaker 1: that's who ultimately their audiences, which ultimately drives the clicks
- 39:42Speaker 1: and drives the revenue. Like that that's how things work
- 39:46Speaker 1: right now. And I'm okay. If a team and a
- 39:48Speaker 1: coach goes nope, like this is what we want to
- 39:52Speaker 1: do now. The downside of that is if it does
- 39:54Speaker 1: start failing and you're not winning, well, then you have
- 39:57Speaker 1: zero reason or zero explanation, no back because you've been
- 40:03Speaker 1: you've been short. But I said that not too long
- 40:05Speaker 1: ago about head coaches, like the ones I like, I
- 40:08Speaker 1: like the Greg Papa bitches, I like the spolsters. I
- 40:10Speaker 1: like I'm going basketball coaches. I like the coach K's.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I like the guys, even the Harbor Harbors, the one Saban,
- 40:17Speaker 1: the ones that are just like short and snippy and
- 40:19Speaker 1: like they really don't give a crap about what the
- 40:21Speaker 1: media post. They don't care, they don't even know what's
- 40:23Speaker 1: going on. I like that kind of signetti to your signetti.
- 40:27Speaker 1: What he said this week, someone asked him about the playoff,
- 40:30Speaker 1: You think I don't even know how that thing works,
- 40:31Speaker 1: because I mean, I don't even know how many teams
- 40:33Speaker 1: are in it. I don't even know, like you know
- 40:35Speaker 1: what where, what what goes on, because I have no idea.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I don't think he actually believes that, or I think
- 40:41Speaker 1: that's actually true. But in his mind he's like, I
- 40:43Speaker 1: don't give a crap, but all the other hoopla and
- 40:45Speaker 1: raw raw, like all I care about is X, Y
- 40:47Speaker 1: and Z. Like I like those kind of coaches, and
- 40:50Speaker 1: ruled down a little bit of that in him this week.
- 40:53Speaker 3: The main thing you want to do as a coach
- 40:54Speaker 3: and press commers does not make a story like you
- 40:58Speaker 3: you don't want to because that to me is like
- 41:00Speaker 3: for when they're asking you a question, that it is
- 41:01Speaker 3: for you to say something stupid and make a story.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Or something they can twist and guess. Yeah, the less
- 41:06Speaker 1: you talk, the less you talk, the less you give
- 41:09Speaker 1: them to make something about it.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Yep. Well, and and then you get ripped for being
- 41:14Speaker 3: an asshole in the media. But either way there it's
- 41:16Speaker 3: not when when these.
- 41:18Speaker 1: We do with Nebraska, because it's all we have other
- 41:21Speaker 1: places that it happens and he gets brushed off, but Nebraska,
- 41:23Speaker 1: I'm telling you that's a big fault of everything in
- 41:25Speaker 1: Nebraska is how this all plays out.
- 41:28Speaker 3: That's why Bo's not here.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you saw it with Bow, how quickly
- 41:32Speaker 1: that went down. He saw it with Frost, how that
- 41:34Speaker 1: started going down. I Mike Riley, I Mike Riley kind
- 41:38Speaker 1: of bowed himself out. So that being said, I want
- 41:45Speaker 1: to transition a little bit to another like Biewek topic here.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Troy Danen did come on to one of those podcasts
- 41:52Speaker 1: and talk about some of the stadium and I guess
- 41:56Speaker 1: big picture plans for the university's athletic department, and again
- 42:01Speaker 1: another really good interview. To go listen to it just
- 42:04Speaker 1: to get a picture of where he sits as a
- 42:07Speaker 1: head coach or as athletic director. Guys, he fully supports
- 42:11Speaker 1: where the staff's at in the direction they're going right now.
- 42:13Speaker 1: And I know you can't really say anything else to
- 42:16Speaker 1: the media, but like he makes it a point to
- 42:20Speaker 1: really call out the direction and the vision and the
- 42:22Speaker 1: future of football, specifically with what he thinks is going
- 42:28Speaker 1: on now. He is new. Remember he started the first
- 42:30Speaker 1: week in March Madness this year and took over for
- 42:33Speaker 1: Trev Alberts. He's figuring things out. But the one thing
- 42:37Speaker 1: that I that he said that attracted him to Nebraska
- 42:42Speaker 1: is that I can't remember the mentality he called it. Basically,
- 42:46Speaker 1: the Nebraska is very hungry, like they all they want
- 42:50Speaker 1: to be good. That drive like everybody in the in
- 42:54Speaker 1: the in the state. So you can't you can't replace that.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Like that is real and as long as that sits here,
- 43:04Speaker 1: we're going to be fine. And it allows you to
- 43:07Speaker 1: build what you want as an athletic director. I thought
- 43:10Speaker 1: that was very telling because of the opposite of that
- 43:15Speaker 1: word is apathy. And that word gets thrown around more,
- 43:21Speaker 1: especially with this next generation. We've talked about it, people
- 43:24Speaker 1: are now talking about it more and more with the
- 43:26Speaker 1: younger generation of fans. When apathy sets in, you don't
- 43:29Speaker 1: even really know what's setting in because apathy is truly
- 43:31Speaker 1: not caring. You don't even have an opinion on it
- 43:34Speaker 1: because you don't even know it exists because you don't care.
- 43:38Speaker 1: You're starting to see that more and more. I think
- 43:42Speaker 1: Troy Dannen knows. He's not dumb. He can see that
- 43:45Speaker 1: that's what could be happening. So this whole re vamp
- 43:51Speaker 1: of the stadium, of different things within the athletic department.
- 43:55Speaker 1: You know, we're getting alcohol finally at the stadium. New
- 43:59Speaker 1: things are what keep people around. Now. We've talked about
- 44:02Speaker 1: the bad things in the stadium, but I think he's
- 44:05Speaker 1: trying to put together this new vision for Husker athletics.
- 44:10Speaker 1: The football team is especially I guess.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Austin, I don't know.
- 44:13Speaker 1: You probably don't know if you've listened to it. But
- 44:16Speaker 1: thoughts on like the stadium or just Troy Dan in general,
- 44:20Speaker 1: because I think he does bring up another fresh perspective.
- 44:25Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's just time for the scene
- 44:27Speaker 2: to have updates. I mean, it's just old.
- 44:29Speaker 4: It's got a lot of years used out of it.
- 44:31Speaker 4: They've got a brand new football facility. It kind of
- 44:34Speaker 4: feels like a next logical step. I mean beer sales,
- 44:40Speaker 4: like that's been something that's been talking about for a
- 44:42Speaker 4: long time, and I just want to say, like most
- 44:46Speaker 4: major colleges now sell alcohol in their stadium, so they're
- 44:49Speaker 4: just kind of catching up in some aspects.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I think. I like Troy Danon. I really don't know.
- 44:55Speaker 4: He hasn't done anything to upset me, but I can't
- 44:59Speaker 4: I can't say have any strong opinions about him yet. Dak,
- 45:04Speaker 4: you're excited about yourselves. I can already tell nowhere to
- 45:07Speaker 4: drink out in the parking lot.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Uh huh. Yeah, we found out about that this weekend.
- 45:14Speaker 3: But I think it's way too early to tell with
- 45:19Speaker 3: your ad. Like you said, he came in with Trev
- 45:22Speaker 3: just basically dipping out without telling anybody. And the stadium
- 45:30Speaker 3: part of it, yeah, it needs some updates and stuff.
- 45:33Speaker 3: I don't I don't think it needs like a total revamp.
- 45:38Speaker 3: It just needs more modern, modern look. It's I think
- 45:41Speaker 3: it feels like an older stadium to me, like the
- 45:44Speaker 3: way it's built, and I don't know the bathrooms need
- 45:47Speaker 3: updated too. It's it's been a while I was thinking
- 45:53Speaker 3: about that Oldklahoma Nebraska. Okay, so you're here's my take
- 46:00Speaker 3: on the stadium, but I don't know the bathrooms last
- 46:02Speaker 3: time I was there is still the freaking Yeah, it's
- 46:06Speaker 3: still troughs.
- 46:08Speaker 1: But here's the thing, Like going to road games, I'll
- 46:12Speaker 1: say at Missoo's stadium is older than Nebraska, that it
- 46:14Speaker 1: seems older. Like I wouldn't use Nebraska Stadium as old.
- 46:21Speaker 1: I would say that it's not authentic in the sense
- 46:26Speaker 1: that there is. It's it's updated from the bells and
- 46:30Speaker 1: whistles standpoint at everything there. Though to me, and I
- 46:38Speaker 1: heard this from a former Husker player through the grape vine,
- 46:41Speaker 1: like the Memorial Stadium is not a one that is
- 46:46Speaker 1: I mean to use the word hostile anymore, like it
- 46:51Speaker 1: used to be a hostile environment, and I think a
- 46:53Speaker 1: lot of that does come with winning, But it's not
- 46:56Speaker 1: one that like it might be called a tough place
- 47:00Speaker 1: to play. Well, clearly teams have not had trouble playing
- 47:03Speaker 1: a Memorial stadium, but the crowd Nebraska nice, It's not
- 47:08Speaker 1: It's not a hostile environment, and I don't. I went
- 47:12Speaker 1: to Missoi this weekend, and we'll get to that here
- 47:14Speaker 1: in a little bit. Like that place was so much
- 47:17Speaker 1: and it seems sixty thousand people plus maybe ten thousand
- 47:21Speaker 1: that sit in the grass like that was so much
- 47:24Speaker 1: more of a hostile, loud, energetic fan base Kansas State
- 47:28Speaker 1: same way than any Nebraska game I've been to. Like
- 47:32Speaker 1: and it also I look at the people that are
- 47:35Speaker 1: going to those games versus the people that are going
- 47:38Speaker 1: to Nebraska games. The democratic is a little bit different.
- 47:41Speaker 1: The types of things they do during time outs, the
- 47:44Speaker 1: types of things they do at halftime, all the downtime.
- 47:47Speaker 1: It's just so different. It just feels authentic college football
- 47:52Speaker 1: not in Nebraska. I don't know that like that's all
- 47:56Speaker 1: in the plans to renovate, but it's hard because I
- 48:02Speaker 1: do think the older crowd people that are donating the
- 48:04Speaker 1: money that are are funding the athletic department, and there's
- 48:07Speaker 1: a big push for revenue enhancements. Troy Dana mentioned that
- 48:10Speaker 1: he threw out some staff that there's like forty three
- 48:13Speaker 1: percent of the seeds that are supposed to be getting
- 48:16Speaker 1: donated money for the tickets were grandfothered in by the
- 48:20Speaker 1: time when that was announced that they're not getting that revenue.
- 48:23Speaker 1: He knows that there's a need for more revenue with
- 48:26Speaker 1: all this stuff going on, but the ones that are
- 48:28Speaker 1: doing that's the older generation. And guess what, they're not
- 48:31Speaker 1: the ones that make the crowd hostile. Unfortunately, they're not
- 48:35Speaker 1: the ones. So there's it's a tough, tough balance on
- 48:38Speaker 1: what you're trying to accomplish with the stadium. Troy Dannen
- 48:41Speaker 1: seems to maybe have I has identified that other revenue
- 48:45Speaker 1: things he talked about was bringing in like two big
- 48:48Speaker 1: events a year outside of football, you know, the the
- 48:52Speaker 1: Garth Brooks concert and then the Husker volleyball event that
- 48:57Speaker 1: happened not too long ago. We mentioned there's an offer
- 49:00Speaker 1: out with Bud Crawford they come have a fight at
- 49:02Speaker 1: Memorial Stadium. Like having outside of football events come in
- 49:05Speaker 1: to make revenue seven to eight million of alcohol sales.
- 49:09Speaker 1: He mentioned it's about how much it brings in I'm
- 49:11Speaker 1: in a given year. And then he talked about South
- 49:14Speaker 1: Stadium is kind of the first big piece that is
- 49:18Speaker 1: going to be going into the renovation here in the
- 49:20Speaker 1: next couple of years. There's a lot there again when
- 49:24Speaker 1: football games, it's going to make things better. That's the
- 49:26Speaker 1: bottom line. I think the stadium stuff is important to
- 49:29Speaker 1: talk about. There is a lot of things we can
- 49:32Speaker 1: do to make it better. One thing, and if I
- 49:36Speaker 1: had to make one simple change to it is move
- 49:38Speaker 1: the damn student section to a place where they can
- 49:40Speaker 1: have a bigger impact on the game. If we're already
- 49:42Speaker 1: not going to have a wild and hostile student section.
- 49:44Speaker 1: No offense to the boneyard. But you're in a tough
- 49:47Speaker 1: spot like you are in and your ear zone it's
- 49:54Speaker 1: a corner of the end zone too, so like you,
- 49:56Speaker 1: you're not even that much on the field. Again, all
- 49:58Speaker 1: these other places, look where there's students sit. It's on
- 50:02Speaker 1: the side, on the side somewhere sometimes like k State,
- 50:05Speaker 1: right behind the benches. Go look at some of these
- 50:07Speaker 1: other places where they sit their students. The problem is
- 50:11Speaker 1: the money and the donors. People that pay the big bucks.
- 50:14Speaker 1: They want the best seats in the house. That there's
- 50:16Speaker 1: your conflict, there's your that's that's your tug and pull.
- 50:19Speaker 1: So it's tough like that is a tough decision to
- 50:23Speaker 1: decide to make it, you know. He mentioned the lack
- 50:26Speaker 1: of I can't remember the word he used, but like
- 50:29Speaker 1: the premium premium premium dollar seats, like the sweet type style,
- 50:35Speaker 1: like no place to even be outdoors. You have the
- 50:37Speaker 1: club level right being go sit, but there's no like
- 50:40Speaker 1: premium premium top dollar option. So you mentioned about you know,
- 50:44Speaker 1: installing maybe some of that again, a lot of stuff
- 50:48Speaker 1: that goes into it. It's a challenge. If you win
- 50:51Speaker 1: football games, it's going to get more hostile. But it's
- 50:54Speaker 1: a give and take because we haven't won many football
- 50:57Speaker 1: games and we're not very hostile, so it's hard. Like
- 51:02Speaker 1: that you said is gonna help too with the whole help,
- 51:06Speaker 1: But why did that take so long for us to
- 51:08Speaker 1: get to that point?
- 51:11Speaker 3: I'll sing about this today, Hunter, I mean, yeah, I
- 51:14Speaker 3: thought Missouri was ten times better than Nebraska at the
- 51:18Speaker 3: home game. But anyway, say that.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Think about this, Missouri is like what would you say
- 51:25Speaker 1: out of that, uh, sixteen sec teams are probably like
- 51:29Speaker 1: tenth in best stadium, So keep that in mind.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Yeah, but I was thinking about this too. We went
- 51:34Speaker 3: to night game and and do you think that it's
- 51:39Speaker 3: We thought it was so sweet because we're used to
- 51:42Speaker 3: Nebraska stadium, Like it's just a new environment. I mean,
- 51:46Speaker 3: I do think like the stuff they do, like the
- 51:49Speaker 3: third down song, the student section exists way more. I've
- 51:52Speaker 3: never seen in the rastling section like that, and I
- 51:56Speaker 3: and I think it has to do with how close
- 51:57Speaker 3: they are and because they're on the field like field
- 52:00Speaker 3: level like right there.
- 52:02Speaker 1: And some of these other road environments in the Big
- 52:06Speaker 1: Ten that I've been to. Purdue, Yeah, Indiana had to
- 52:12Speaker 1: suck in Indiana, well, because they're winning. It's hard. You're right.
- 52:16Speaker 1: I'm a little bit blinded in comparing them to Nebraska
- 52:18Speaker 1: because I've been to so many games at home.
- 52:22Speaker 3: Environment. It's not like that in Nebraska, like.
- 52:26Speaker 2: It was a night then we're not making bowl games
- 52:29Speaker 2: Like that's why the environment is not great. As we
- 52:32Speaker 2: go there, we get up and then we just know
- 52:33Speaker 2: we're gonna lose.
- 52:34Speaker 1: I mean, any of us go to Colorado this year,
- 52:38Speaker 1: see that and now I didn't that one I heard was,
- 52:40Speaker 1: but so's It'll be interested in looking back on that
- 52:43Speaker 1: in a couple of years how that gets compared to
- 52:46Speaker 1: and I'll say it even some of the games like
- 52:48Speaker 1: Miami and our Austin Iron College and Oregon. I'll I'll
- 52:52Speaker 1: be interested in five years, like is that Colorado game
- 52:56Speaker 1: ahead of those two, because those two were pretty crazy games.
- 53:00Speaker 1: I would say at home, I don't know, it's hard,
- 53:03Speaker 1: too soon to tell, probably a little bit of recency bias,
- 53:06Speaker 1: and I wasn't there, so it's hard to compare. The
- 53:09Speaker 1: Ohio State comeback was another big one that I remember
- 53:11Speaker 1: with pretty nuts with Rex ber Kead and Thevonte David
- 53:15Speaker 1: on the strip fumble. So we'll see. And I obviously
- 53:18Speaker 1: the old days, I have no idea. It just feels
- 53:21Speaker 1: like it's not as authentic anymore, especially the more road
- 53:23Speaker 1: games I go to and you see some of these
- 53:26Speaker 1: other things are doing. I'm like, God, that's a great idea,
- 53:28Speaker 1: that's cool, that's neat, and here we are doing I
- 53:32Speaker 1: don't even know what we do. I guess we do
- 53:34Speaker 1: the the Simba again family family friend thing and it's
- 53:38Speaker 1: kind of funny. But I'm not sitting you heard of that.
- 53:43Speaker 1: It just it's a very different feel and if you win,
- 53:46Speaker 1: it changes. It does like the will Compton thing that
- 53:48Speaker 1: was fresh, like that was new, that brought I think
- 53:50Speaker 1: a little bit of hype and the liveliness. But guess
- 53:53Speaker 1: what the old people probably were like, get that stuff
- 53:56Speaker 1: out of here, like we don't like that. We don't
- 54:00Speaker 1: know what I mean, But that's kind of the fan
- 54:02Speaker 1: base that talk about the demographic of who's at the games.
- 54:05Speaker 1: That's what they that's what they do, and you sit
- 54:07Speaker 1: around them. I'm like, like, Dak, how much did we
- 54:09Speaker 1: sit in that Missouri game?
- 54:12Speaker 3: I did on the very last play, but besides that,
- 54:14Speaker 3: I didn't how.
- 54:15Speaker 2: Much was the tickets for the Missouri game?
- 54:17Speaker 3: One hundred and thirty?
- 54:19Speaker 1: Yeah, we played one hundred and thirty first, I mean
- 54:20Speaker 1: we were thirty yard line, thirty rows up.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Oh okay, So.
- 54:26Speaker 3: I would say that environment is better than any house
- 54:29Speaker 3: game I've been to.
- 54:31Speaker 1: No, I I it just it was we stood about
- 54:34Speaker 1: the whole game like it's just weird and again night game.
- 54:37Speaker 3: And everybody around us into it too, Like yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Versus when I go to Indiana. I can't remember if
- 54:43Speaker 1: I told the story on the podcast or not. I
- 54:45Speaker 1: go to Indiana and I'm sitting in the Nebraska stands
- 54:48Speaker 1: up top like in the corner and there's probably thirty
- 54:51Speaker 1: rows three sections why of Nebraska fans and the very
- 54:54Speaker 1: first drive, I'm standing up and there's a lady behind
- 54:57Speaker 1: me in Nebraska fan and I noticed that we standing
- 55:00Speaker 1: and she didn't want to stand, so I kind of
- 55:02Speaker 1: leaned over to the size so she could see through.
- 55:04Speaker 1: And she goes, oh no, no, no, no, don't worry about it.
- 55:07Speaker 1: She goes, I'll just I'll just look through you. I'm like,
- 55:09Speaker 1: oh okay. I was like, she's like, no, trust me.
- 55:12Speaker 1: She goes, no different than any home game. That can
- 55:14Speaker 1: never see a damn game there anyways, And he was
- 55:16Speaker 1: I guess I had the right to yell at you
- 55:18Speaker 1: now though, And I was like, holy, like, this is
- 55:20Speaker 1: the first drive of the game, and I have a
- 55:22Speaker 1: Nebraska fan on a road game, like not. She wasn't
- 55:26Speaker 1: showing me out, but she made a sarcastic comment about
- 55:28Speaker 1: me standing like it just that's the whole mindset of
- 55:32Speaker 1: a fan right now, of what a Nebraska fan is,
- 55:35Speaker 1: even though we travel a lot. It's it's just so strange.
- 55:39Speaker 1: It's so different.
- 55:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, Missouri is they're winning right now. I mean,
- 55:47Speaker 4: they're good right now, so I think. But you said winning, well,
- 55:51Speaker 4: it doesn't cure all, but a gosh darn helps.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Yeah, And it wasn't. It wasn't like it was a
- 56:00Speaker 3: great game throughout you that it was still allowed. The
- 56:02Speaker 3: whole time, like I don't know. I think I think
- 56:07Speaker 3: winning will help out a lot, like you guys don't
- 56:10Speaker 3: even do like that was a blackout. You guys don't
- 56:12Speaker 3: even themes either, like wide out and that brings I
- 56:16Speaker 3: think that brings energy to that place with that you
- 56:19Speaker 3: total blackout like everybody is.
- 56:21Speaker 1: It's another weird thing that that Nebraska doesn't do. Our
- 56:25Speaker 1: alternate alternate uniforms have sucked for years. Blame it on Adidas.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I guess, I don't know, but you know, the blackout.
- 56:33Speaker 1: We try to a couple of times, but we did.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Never seems to work out. I agree, like there's none
- 56:40Speaker 1: of that. All these other places do that and some
- 56:42Speaker 1: people think that's all a little bit like false. I
- 56:46Speaker 1: don't know. Excitement, but as a as a to be
- 56:49Speaker 1: a hostile crowd like that stuff matters, I think, and
- 56:54Speaker 1: in game stuff like being wow, that's the one place
- 56:58Speaker 1: that you can impact the game or a season is
- 57:02Speaker 1: being hostile. But we're i'll say it too nice. The
- 57:06Speaker 1: comment rule made like don't be Nebraska nice until Sunday
- 57:09Speaker 1: this week, like that that is the type of fans
- 57:12Speaker 1: that you I don't be mean, I'm gonna be jerks,
- 57:14Speaker 1: but be hostile, like make make it no to the
- 57:18Speaker 1: players that like this is gonna be a you will
- 57:21Speaker 1: throw stuff on the field, tortillas in the field, Texas Tech.
- 57:25Speaker 3: Another another thing that I think adds to it is
- 57:30Speaker 3: that was a old Big twelve like rivalry right there.
- 57:34Speaker 3: How many Big ten teams do you like? My olahoma, sorry,
- 57:37Speaker 3: don't like each other? How many Big ten teams do
- 57:39Speaker 3: you not like? Your fans don't like each other? The
- 57:44Speaker 3: problem is we haven't been good, so yeah, you haven't built.
- 57:48Speaker 2: We don't like a lot of teams, but they don't
- 57:49Speaker 2: care about us because they kill us every year.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:53Speaker 3: We also don't have opposing fans like like me coming
- 57:57Speaker 3: in there yelling.
- 57:59Speaker 4: Right like, even like the I have a game, I
- 58:00Speaker 4: feel like we're much more into it than Iowa is yep,
- 58:04Speaker 4: because we always lose.
- 58:07Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, Michigan fans come here, they don't They're not
- 58:10Speaker 3: gonna say anything because they're expected to win.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Yeah, they're confident. Yeah all right, Well, I know it's
- 58:22Speaker 1: a little bit sidetracked from the actual game, but we'll
- 58:24Speaker 1: talk more u SC on Wednesday here in a couple
- 58:29Speaker 1: of days. There's something else we're going to talk about. Oh,
- 58:38Speaker 1: I was gonna mention the Rascal basketball. I had no
- 58:40Speaker 1: idea what happened in the game. I haven't watched a
- 58:43Speaker 1: single clip. I guess know. I won by five.
- 58:47Speaker 2: And the ladies also kind of barely one as well.
- 58:54Speaker 3: They play another they play like and nobody.
- 58:57Speaker 4: Yep, they're trillion after the third. They ended up winning
- 59:01Speaker 4: by ten.
- 59:01Speaker 3: But the boys team's offense is gonna be Yeah, it's
- 59:07Speaker 3: gonna be tough to watch. Bringing Dan Dana Holgerson, he.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Was calling the boys the boys, the boys.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Team, men's team, the boys.
- 59:18Speaker 1: We'll see it'll it'll be interesting. I do believe we
- 59:21Speaker 1: play Wednesday against Fairley Dickinson, the team that upset Purdue
- 59:26Speaker 1: years ago. I think they got blown out by Creighton
- 59:30Speaker 1: on Sunday, and then Saint John's I believe is on
- 59:34Speaker 1: Sunday or Saint Mary's St. Mary's up in uh Sioux Falls.
- 59:40Speaker 3: That'll be the one you'll be able to really see
- 59:43Speaker 3: how good you are. I don't know Mary, but I
- 59:46Speaker 3: don't think he's just the spread. I guess will be
- 59:48Speaker 3: less than five, probably either way.
- 59:51Speaker 1: But then we play Creighton that next week, so I
- 59:53Speaker 1: would say most probably will expect us to be three
- 59:55Speaker 1: and two after the next couple of weeks. But well, we'll.
- 59:59Speaker 2: See volleyball team's cruising, still cruising.
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: Thank god, we have them hostile environment right there.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: We can do it. It's within us.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Well, Dak, can we get an m I z no
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: z o U.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: And my z.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Z o U. Why didn't you leave that screw?
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: We'll do it. But that. I'm still pissed about that game,
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: but we don't have to talk about it.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: I guess background. We went to the Missouri Oklahoma game
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: this weekend, a lot of fun. Just leave it at that.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: If I heard that chant one more time walk in
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: the stadium, I don't know what I would have done.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: I had to get out of there.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: We'll just say that, all right, we're back a couple
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: of days usc week.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: Go gread tv R rumor sooner
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: That t
