- 0:07Speaker 1: It's media podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only

- 0:16Speaker 1: Newhart and today we're joined by Jannis, Brodie Randall, cal Marge,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Corey and Logan. This is a ten round quiz show
- 0:23Speaker 1: with questions from meat eaters for verticals which are hunting, fishing,
- 0:27Speaker 1: conservation and cooking, and there is a prize. Meat Eater
- 0:30Speaker 1: will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of
- 0:33Speaker 1: the winners, choosing for the stat of the Week. This week,
- 0:36Speaker 1: we're updating our donation tracker through the podcast, board, games,
- 0:40Speaker 1: expansion packs, live tour and sponsors. Meat Eater Trivia has
- 0:44Speaker 1: now donated one hundred and fifty thousand dollars to more
- 0:47Speaker 1: than twenty different conservation organizations. You know, big thanks to
- 0:52Speaker 1: our partners on Xietti and Athletic Brewing, and of course
- 0:54Speaker 1: meat Eater for making sure that conservation always wins. One
- 0:58Speaker 1: hundred fifty.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Change it to the game show where a conservation and
- 1:03Speaker 2: Brody and Randall always win.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It's just conservation. There's there's Yeah. We'll have the tournament
- 1:10Speaker 1: coming up in about a month. We had to we
- 1:12Speaker 1: had to move around schedule to uh make sure we
- 1:14Speaker 1: can get Steve in the studio, and that's going to
- 1:16Speaker 1: be happening in January, so we'll ground our twenty twenty
- 1:18Speaker 1: four winner.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Here, which is how they do it in all professional sports.
- 1:22Speaker 3: It is always like our team isn't ready, give us
- 1:26Speaker 3: another month. We'll just push it into twenty twenty five.
- 1:29Speaker 1: That's right. And there's a chance he may not make
- 1:31Speaker 1: it in January either, so we may either going to
- 1:34Speaker 1: have to play without him or push it to February.
- 1:37Speaker 2: What do you think that those of us are just
- 1:39Speaker 2: like in contention? What could we do to have better performances?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Hmmm, that's a good one, Yanni. I don't know how
- 1:47Speaker 1: you prep. I think I think when you do well
- 1:49Speaker 1: at this, uh, that's a lifetime's worth of gathering information.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I don't think there's any cramming, Yanni.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And for me, I feel like it's when your questions
- 1:59Speaker 2: lie with my lifetimes.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Sometimes it's and you'll get the right side of question. Yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 1: The other day, you know, Brody got a big bass
- 2:08Speaker 1: fishing question correct and he said he never touched a
- 2:10Speaker 1: creature bait in his life, so he's just a well
- 2:12Speaker 1: rounded outdoorsman. That's what it takes you on it and
- 2:15Speaker 1: well read and well read. Here's our Infrequently Asked Questions segment.
- 2:20Speaker 1: If you have a trivia related question for our crew,
- 2:23Speaker 1: send it to Trivia at the medieater dot com with
- 2:25Speaker 1: the subject line I FAQ. Connor Moore says, has AI
- 2:29Speaker 1: made your job easier? Have you ever tried getting it
- 2:31Speaker 1: to write questions for you? I answered that second part before,
- 2:35Speaker 1: when chad GPT first arrived, I tried giving it prompts
- 2:39Speaker 1: to write me questions and it failed. The questions were
- 2:41Speaker 1: like when is Turkey season with the answer being spring?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Or when where do you shoot a deer? And the
- 2:48Speaker 1: answer would be like and it's vital. So AI could
- 2:50Speaker 1: not write good questions for me. AI has actually made
- 2:54Speaker 1: my job harder, I'd say. When it comes to googling stuff.
- 2:57Speaker 1: In the last year, Google has straight up gotten worse.
- 3:00Speaker 4: It's crazy tho AI generated things at the top, which
- 3:04Speaker 4: also from an ad perspective, how does that work? Because
- 3:06Speaker 4: Google makes all their money through their ads, and people
- 3:09Speaker 4: aren't scrolling down and clicking on other websites, how are
- 3:11Speaker 4: they making like It just seems like they're shooting themselves
- 3:13Speaker 4: in the foot.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, anyway, everyone is in agreement. Google has gotten worse,
- 3:17Speaker 1: and big part of that is AI because of like
- 3:19Speaker 1: that first overview gives you that's often misleading or wrong,
- 3:23Speaker 1: and then beyond that, like websites are now using low
- 3:26Speaker 1: quality AI generated content that typically lacks any human fact checking,
- 3:31Speaker 1: and then you'll get like AI is making se O
- 3:34Speaker 1: content that's based on other AI content. So it's like
- 3:37Speaker 1: AI in breeding that totally clogs up Google. You're poking
- 3:41Speaker 1: the bear, like somewhere there's an extension AI that's like Spenser.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Listening to this. I mean AI does write all of
- 3:51Speaker 5: my jokes for.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Me, So that's that's at least one beneficial To answer.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Your question, Connor, AI has not made things easier.
- 3:59Speaker 6: Spencer, I was gonna say, I've even tried plugging your
- 4:01Speaker 6: like using your crossword puzzles and having it try to
- 4:05Speaker 6: generate more crossword puzzle clues based on the ones you gave.
- 4:08Speaker 6: Ye is garbage, Like you wouldn't think it'd be that
- 4:11Speaker 6: hard to generate like a crossword clue, But I give
- 4:14Speaker 6: you props for how how.
- 4:15Speaker 7: Well they logan because a I could not do anything.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You build this into your next raise talk We do
- 4:22Speaker 1: know Logan that some other like very famous crossword puzzles
- 4:26Speaker 1: almost strictly use AI to create their crossword puzzles, and
- 4:31Speaker 1: we saw that there was no way this was a
- 4:33Speaker 1: coincidence that we'll talk about on a future episode. Well,
- 4:37Speaker 1: future Housekeeping, somebody stole want and there's no doubt about it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Someone just took one of our crossword clues, and I
- 4:44Speaker 1: think it was probably AI was crawling the Internet and
- 4:48Speaker 1: came across our crossword puzzle and then use that in
- 4:51Speaker 1: their clue. A very famous crossword puzzle will address that
- 4:54Speaker 1: in the future. No Housekeeping today, so we can get
- 4:58Speaker 1: right to the trivia. The Shelby index for this round
- 5:00Speaker 1: is a four and a half, so our winners should
- 5:02Speaker 1: get nine correct answers, and with that we're onto the
- 5:05Speaker 1: game of trivia. Play the drop phill. Look, I need
- 5:11Speaker 1: to know what I stand to win everything?
- 5:15Speaker 7: How's that just tend to win everything?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Demon Suckers.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Question one. The topic is conservation, and as always, this
- 5:29Speaker 1: will be multiple choice. Which of these national parks is
- 5:34Speaker 1: not located in multiple states? Is it Yellowstone, Great Smoky Mountains,
- 5:41Speaker 1: Death Valley or Shenandoah. Three of these National parks are
- 5:49Speaker 1: located in multiple states. One is not Yellowstone, Great Smoky Mountains,
- 5:56Speaker 1: Death Valley or Shenandoah. Bro Do you know this one?
- 6:01Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 6:02Speaker 7: I got it.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not gonna change my hands. Randall, you
- 6:06Speaker 1: know this one? I don't know. Okay, they feel okay
- 6:11Speaker 1: about their answer. Yanni has not come up with an
- 6:13Speaker 1: answer yet. Which of these national parks is not located
- 6:17Speaker 1: in multiple states? Yellowstone, Great Smoky Mountains, Death Valley, Shenandoah.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Is everybody ready, quite ready as i'll Randall, are you done? Yes?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Cory and
- 6:42Speaker 1: Cal saying Death Valley, Marsh says Great Smoky Mountains, Randall Shenandoah.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Logan and Yanni says Shenandoah. Brody says Death Valley. The
- 6:54Speaker 1: correct answer is Shenandoah. Three of our players not that
- 7:00Speaker 1: one right. Yellowstone is located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Great Smoky Mountains is located in North Carolina and Tennessee.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Death Valley is located in California and Nevada. Shenandoah is
- 7:13Speaker 1: contained to Virginia. Question two the topic is hunting. This
- 7:18Speaker 1: next great question is via Justin van Horn. This is
- 7:22Speaker 1: an audio question. Phil is going to play you one
- 7:24Speaker 1: minute of a song about hound hunting. You need to
- 7:27Speaker 1: tell me who the artist is. Take it away, Phil.
- 7:30Speaker 7: Apologies to the YouTube audience.
- 7:33Speaker 8: Nice say I quit drinking.
- 7:36Speaker 9: It's a good one, Cato, I can make it up.
- 7:42Speaker 8: Glory at the end of my and Wow, Whiskey's hard
- 7:49Speaker 8: through ways so much child.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And we need to name the name the artist hounds
- 8:00Speaker 1: fill our monitors.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Oh no, it's black on perform box, go to hell.
- 8:12Speaker 1: With all my brands.
- 8:17Speaker 9: Wake up in Horner and I'll follow you to town.
- 8:23Speaker 9: I can will take my heaven, I can hunt. Oh gosh, stroll.
- 8:32Speaker 5: You're listening to the silky smooth tones.
- 8:34Speaker 1: And tell us in the background. Your answer should not
- 8:38Speaker 1: be honest. I'm not going to accept the answer of Yanni.
- 8:41Speaker 1: If you put that down. You need to tell me smooth.
- 8:43Speaker 6: But this is surprisingly the only country artist I could
- 8:47Speaker 6: probably name.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Okay, let's not do. Give me some hints. Is it
- 8:51Speaker 1: a country artist, Randall or common?
- 8:53Speaker 7: It depends on need to find country. Yeah, artist is
- 8:56Speaker 7: not in my Spotify. No it's not not.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You don't have this one right then, march Okay, Marge
- 9:03Speaker 1: wore a special shirt today for trivia. She said that
- 9:06Speaker 1: this is a family heirloom that she had to fight
- 9:09Speaker 1: her cousins to get.
- 9:11Speaker 2: It.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Is a vintage, a real vintage, not a fake vintage.
- 9:15Speaker 1: A real vintage ham shirt says promise me anything. What
- 9:19Speaker 1: does it say, promise me anything? But give me a
- 9:22Speaker 1: hams that's lovely, that is beautiful in the shades of
- 9:26Speaker 1: the land of the sky blue waters.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Jennifer had a bush t shirt that was the same
- 9:32Speaker 2: colors as that, and it was a hot shirt because
- 9:36Speaker 2: it was so vintage when I met her that it
- 9:38Speaker 2: was almost getting kind of see through, you know. So
- 9:40Speaker 2: I really enjoyed it when she wore it. But it
- 9:42Speaker 2: got so vintage that it just pretty much fell apart.
- 9:44Speaker 2: But it said I believe I can get this right.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I think it said you can take my gusto, but
- 9:50Speaker 2: don't touch my bush or something along.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And you don't know where that shirt wound up. It disintegrated.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Oh, she wore it out back in the Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 10: Yeah, we had the bar that I close that Mike
- 10:04Speaker 10: cal the bar that I grew up working in, had
- 10:07Speaker 10: a ham sign in it that the the background would change.
- 10:11Speaker 10: It was like a waterfall and bears fish and then
- 10:16Speaker 10: every year people would come in and offer his cash
- 10:18Speaker 10: for that thing. Yeah, it's like the real collection.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I saw one of those recently, like the last year,
- 10:23Speaker 2: at some small town Montana bar.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I'm in Facebook groups for those, and that's like a
- 10:27Speaker 1: four figure thing that you're talking about. Yeah, big deal,
- 10:30Speaker 1: very expensive. Yeah, again, you need to name the artists
- 10:34Speaker 1: of that song. Everybody have an answer, Go ahead and
- 10:38Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Corey and Cal saying Tyler Childers,
- 10:43Speaker 1: Marge without an answer, Randall and Logan, and Yanni saying
- 10:47Speaker 1: Tyler Childers. Brody says Morgan Wallen. The correct answer is
- 10:51Speaker 1: Tyler Childers. That song is Can I Take My Hounds
- 10:55Speaker 1: to Heaven? From the twenty twenty two album of the
- 10:58Speaker 1: same name. One music critics said that he loved the
- 11:01Speaker 1: salute to traditional country music, summing it up by saying
- 11:04Speaker 1: it's about quote the earthly, good old boy who believes
- 11:08Speaker 1: heaven should be less pearly gates and harp's drumming angels
- 11:11Speaker 1: and more of a venue for his desires to be satisfied.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Question three. The topic is cooking. This is the eighth
- 11:19Speaker 1: letter French word for broth. That is often stored as
- 11:23Speaker 1: a powder. Question three, the topic is cooking. This is
- 11:31Speaker 1: the eight letter French word for broth that is often
- 11:34Speaker 1: stored as a powder. Brody and Randall already have their answers.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I'm glad you got that finally, because, as you know,
- 11:47Speaker 3: we went to Childers Live.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, is it in Missoula? Oh yeah, I heard
- 11:52Speaker 1: there was a great drone show, which is a little
- 11:55Speaker 1: weird for a Tyler Childers concert. I imagine if it
- 11:58Speaker 1: was like, uh, I don't know the Gaga, but yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 1: of course there's gonna be.
- 12:02Speaker 5: It was unexpected.
- 12:03Speaker 3: It was unexpected, and it's also unnerving just seeing that,
- 12:06Speaker 3: much like if we talked about the threat of AI.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Sure, had you been in attendance after.
- 12:12Speaker 1: That little crossword bit?
- 12:13Speaker 3: Uh huh, the technology gods pretty much had us where
- 12:18Speaker 3: they wanted us at that moment.
- 12:19Speaker 1: What what was What were they portraying in the sky?
- 12:22Speaker 5: Uh, there were mules.
- 12:24Speaker 10: There's mules, pivots in the ear moves. People sent me
- 12:29Speaker 10: that video.
- 12:30Speaker 5: It was really unnerving.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, uh got the question.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Great show though, great showman, Right, you just had to
- 12:39Speaker 2: close your eyes and just listen.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I guess yes. Question three, this is the eight letter
- 12:44Speaker 1: French word for broth that is often stored as a powder.
- 12:47Speaker 7: You have this, it's in there.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I think you got it.
- 12:51Speaker 7: I think no.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I almost almost aft it up, but I believe I
- 12:58Speaker 2: came around. I think, well, I'll mention my if I
- 13:02Speaker 2: have it right, then I'll mention my problem with the question.
- 13:06Speaker 10: You don't believe me.
- 13:07Speaker 6: I've had my answer.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Oh you doing okay?
- 13:09Speaker 1: Is everybody ready there? Go ahead and reveal your answers
- 13:14Speaker 1: with Corey and Cal and Marge and randall the whole
- 13:18Speaker 1: room says, and they got it correct.
- 13:21Speaker 10: I really want to dig into logan spelling.
- 13:29Speaker 7: To the end of it.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Spelling is b oh you I L L O N.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Anybody get that right? What's your problem with the answer here? Yanni?
- 13:41Speaker 2: With the question? With the question is that I can't
- 13:44Speaker 2: say that in all my years, I've ever encountered powdered boy.
- 13:50Speaker 1: It's what's a cube? Which is powder that's shaped like
- 13:53Speaker 1: a cube. That what you're talking about.
- 13:55Speaker 10: I'd say the moisture content's a little high in the
- 13:58Speaker 10: cubes to be a power.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Or there's the jar. Haven't you ever gotten like the
- 14:02Speaker 1: little jar.
- 14:05Speaker 2: About I've never had that version. I've had the.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Words bouleon and broth can be used interchangeably, although most
- 14:15Speaker 1: think of bouleon as the powder version and broth as
- 14:18Speaker 1: the liquid version. Bouleon cubes are made by concentrating and
- 14:22Speaker 1: dehydrating broth, which is then pressed into a square. To
- 14:26Speaker 1: learn how to create your own broth at home, go
- 14:28Speaker 1: watch Kimmy Werner's video on the medeater dot com called
- 14:31Speaker 1: how to make bone Broth. I think n this is
- 14:33Speaker 1: being a little nitpicky there. It's a little knitpicky. Do
- 14:36Speaker 1: you have like a gelatinous form of it you're saying?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Or what?
- 14:40Speaker 7: Well?
- 14:40Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 14:41Speaker 2: That that and the cubes neither.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Question four the Topics Gear. This is our listener question
- 14:48Speaker 1: of the week, which was won by Nick Sikowski for
- 14:50Speaker 1: setting this great question. Nick is going to get a
- 14:52Speaker 1: board game signed by the crew. If you want a
- 14:54Speaker 1: chance to win our listener Question of the Week, then
- 14:56Speaker 1: send your question to Trivia at the medieater dot com.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Hey, real quick, you amy know why that little buck
- 15:02Speaker 2: is upside down?
- 15:03Speaker 7: Been that way for a while?
- 15:05Speaker 9: Like it now?
- 15:06Speaker 1: Ask Phil?
- 15:07Speaker 3: Just flip the studio in that it's just hung with
- 15:09Speaker 3: a single faster in it.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it was barely balancing when it was up,
- 15:15Speaker 4: and so I tapped it and it hung down like that,
- 15:17Speaker 4: and I kind of like it.
- 15:18Speaker 10: I left it.
- 15:19Speaker 7: It works, It works.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Question four. This brand won the Grand prize at the
- 15:25Speaker 1: nineteen oh nine World's Fair for their vacuum mansulated bottles
- 15:29Speaker 1: that are designed to keep drinks hot or cold. Question
- 15:35Speaker 1: four topic is gear and this was our listener question
- 15:38Speaker 1: of the Week one by Nick. This brand won the
- 15:41Speaker 1: Grand prize at the nineteen oh nine World's Fair for
- 15:44Speaker 1: their vacuum insulated bottles that are designed to keep drinks
- 15:48Speaker 1: hot or cold. Bro do you have this one? I
- 15:53Speaker 1: think so? Okay, Randall, you have an answer that you like?
- 15:57Speaker 10: You know that joke.
- 15:58Speaker 5: I'm going back and forth on now.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I'll just stick with me. I don't know the dr Joe,
- 16:03Speaker 1: because you're gonna give away the answer.
- 16:06Speaker 10: Joe, think about it. How do it know? It's like
- 16:09Speaker 10: keeps things hot, keeps things cold.
- 16:16Speaker 1: That is impressive. This brand won the Grand prize at
- 16:21Speaker 1: the nineteen oh nine World's Fair for their vacuum insulated
- 16:24Speaker 1: bottles that are designed to keep drinks hot or cold.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 16:31Speaker 1: have Corey and cal and Marge and Randall and Logan
- 16:37Speaker 1: saying Stanley. Yannis crossed out Stanley and put Thermis. Brody
- 16:42Speaker 1: says Thermos. One of you two groups is correct. The
- 16:47Speaker 1: correct answer is Thermos. Yanni and Brody got that.
- 16:52Speaker 7: One wrote that brutal such a generic name. I thought
- 16:55Speaker 7: it was. I didn't realize I was a brand.
- 16:57Speaker 1: It's like the Kleenex of tissues is thrown no hitter
- 17:01Speaker 1: right now, So is Randall, no bro down. Stanley vacuum
- 17:07Speaker 1: flask was invented in eighteen ninety two to keep chemicals
- 17:11Speaker 1: at a stable temperature. The Thermost brand saw there would
- 17:14Speaker 1: be a domestic market for such a product, so they
- 17:16Speaker 1: started selling them in nineteen oh four. The company hit
- 17:19Speaker 1: it big in nineteen thirty nine when ninety eight percent
- 17:22Speaker 1: of their factory started producing bottles and lunchboxes for the
- 17:26Speaker 1: military during World War II. Question five the topic is fishing.
- 17:32Speaker 1: This of mice and men. Author wrote that phishing is
- 17:35Speaker 1: quote the last remaining way for a man to be
- 17:38Speaker 1: alone without being suspected of some secret sin. He had
- 17:44Speaker 1: a very low opinion of hunting this guy. Brody and
- 17:48Speaker 1: Randall already have their answers. This of Mice and Men
- 17:52Speaker 1: author wrote that phishing is quote the last remaining way
- 17:56Speaker 1: for a man to be alone without being suspected of
- 18:00Speaker 1: some secret sin. I didn't know about his uh anti hunting.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I don't know if I just didn't respect hunters a
- 18:11Speaker 1: whole lot.
- 18:14Speaker 10: Kind of a fence sitter perspective, like these guys do
- 18:17Speaker 10: it the right way?
- 18:18Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, Cal, you have this one right.
- 18:22Speaker 10: I can't remember the guy's name. Okay, I can recite
- 18:26Speaker 10: some books.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Who's read of Mice and Men the whole room.
- 18:33Speaker 2: In high school? But I don't think I actually would
- 18:35Speaker 2: say I read it. I read a lot of his
- 18:40Speaker 2: other I mean, I've read a lot of I think it's.
- 18:45Speaker 3: More of a George guy or any guy.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Can I pet the rabbits George?
- 18:57Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Yeah, when I'm petting a dog or a cant and
- 19:01Speaker 1: you get like that aggression because they're so cute. I say,
- 19:03Speaker 1: I'm going to have Mice and Men. Then Marge and
- 19:12Speaker 1: Cal coming up with their answer, logan, do you have
- 19:15Speaker 1: this one right?
- 19:15Speaker 7: I don't think so.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Did you read this in high school?
- 19:17Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure I did.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Okay, I can't believe that's a cross that maybe.
- 19:24Speaker 11: Let's not get to that.
- 19:26Speaker 7: Definitely.
- 19:27Speaker 10: That was definitely high school required reading.
- 19:29Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Maybe I haven't read.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And then it was Phil, would you get this one right?
- 19:35Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 19:36Speaker 4: I read a lot of this guy's books in high school.
- 19:38Speaker 4: I was like kind of a I went through a
- 19:39Speaker 4: phase with this guy.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Makes me feel better about my answer. I can't take
- 19:45Speaker 2: it anymore.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Brody, is everybody ready?
- 19:46Speaker 10: I can't remember?
- 19:48Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. The row col without
- 19:54Speaker 1: an answer, Marge without an answer, Randall, says Steinbeck. Logan,
- 20:00Speaker 1: it says Ray Bradberry, Jannie and Brody John Steinbeck, and
- 20:05Speaker 1: they got brutal. Correct answer was John Steinbeck. Steinbeck was
- 20:10Speaker 1: an avid angler, but those close to him said he
- 20:13Speaker 1: wasn't obsessive about success. His son declared that the Nobel
- 20:17Speaker 1: Prize winning author went fishing because it gave him an
- 20:19Speaker 1: opportunity to daydream. Steinbeck once said that sometimes he'd go
- 20:24Speaker 1: fishing without bait so that not even the fish could
- 20:27Speaker 1: bother him.
- 20:28Speaker 10: Steinbeck has some like from Travels with Charlie, has some
- 20:32Speaker 10: like very gracious quotes on Montana. So he's like a
- 20:38Speaker 10: very popular Montana offer just really killing.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Me that I couldn't didn't get it fell. We're halfway
- 20:46Speaker 1: through the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 20:50Speaker 4: There we are, all right, Marge with a with a
- 20:55Speaker 4: point coming up next to Corey and Cow two points
- 20:59Speaker 4: of piece. Brody and Logan have three, Randel has four,
- 21:04Speaker 4: and yes, Jan is still pitching that perfect game.
- 21:06Speaker 2: He has five.
- 21:07Speaker 1: He was wondering how he could study for the tournament,
- 21:10Speaker 1: but maybe he doesn't need to. He has a perfect game.
- 21:13Speaker 10: What a rebound?
- 21:14Speaker 6: Hi?
- 21:14Speaker 8: Ni?
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I have almost twice as many points as.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I got in my last question six. The topic is conservation.
- 21:26Speaker 1: This next great question is via Steve Courson. What does
- 21:30Speaker 1: FEMA stand for? It's in the government agency? Shit, what
- 21:37Speaker 1: does FEMA stand for?
- 21:42Speaker 7: A lot of right?
- 21:42Speaker 1: In this one's yeah? Okay, well there's a little hint.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Brody says he has to do a lot of writing.
- 21:51Speaker 1: This is question six again, the topic is conservation. That
- 21:55Speaker 1: was prepared for an argument from somebody saying how is
- 21:58Speaker 1: this conservation? And I would tell you, I will explain.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you in the flavor text. Brody,
- 22:05Speaker 1: thank you for asking. Come on, what does FEMA stand for?
- 22:09Speaker 1: Do you have this one?
- 22:10Speaker 8: Right?
- 22:10Speaker 1: Randall boy I hope so, Brody, any boys guessing or
- 22:15Speaker 1: you just think you have like it makes sense? No,
- 22:17Speaker 1: I read the news occasionally.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah, sometimes sometimes in the news.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Mm hmm, Corey, you confident. No, I listen to the
- 22:28Speaker 1: news all the time. But I.
- 22:32Speaker 10: Uh, because of agencies like this, there's a bunch of
- 22:36Speaker 10: cash available in the conservation world. Yeah, to do work
- 22:43Speaker 10: ahead of time that can mitigate Like he's read my
- 22:46Speaker 10: flavors like Spencer's.
- 22:49Speaker 3: You're stealing his thunder.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Again, FEMA, f E m A, I'm right, logan, how
- 22:56Speaker 1: we doing.
- 22:58Speaker 6: I think there's got three of the letters of the acronym.
- 23:01Speaker 7: Okay, I don't know what the M is for.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I think we're waiting on you. Oh okay, right, all right, Margie,
- 23:09Speaker 1: you done? Yeah, okay, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 23:14Speaker 1: We have Corey saying Federal Emergency Medical Agency CAL, Federal
- 23:21Speaker 1: Emergency Management Agency, MARGE, Federal Emergency Medical Agency, Randall, Federal
- 23:31Speaker 1: Emergency Management Administration Logan Logan, Federal Emergency Movement America. That's creative, honest,
- 23:44Speaker 1: Federal Emergency Management Agency, Brodie, Federal Emergency Management Agency.
- 23:52Speaker 7: Rest.
- 23:54Speaker 1: The correct answer is Federal Emergency Management Agency. I think
- 24:01Speaker 1: we had Yanni and Brody. Did anybody else get that?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Col Yanni, Brody cow FEMA helps people before, during, and
- 24:13Speaker 1: after a natural disaster strikes. Although most associate them with
- 24:17Speaker 1: handing out blankets and water bottles, they also do a
- 24:20Speaker 1: fair bit of conservation work. They developed the Flood Risk
- 24:23Speaker 1: and Endangered Species Habitat Map, which identifies critical habitat for
- 24:27Speaker 1: threatened species and floodplains. They also conduct environmental reviews after
- 24:32Speaker 1: a disaster strikes and fund wetland restoration to help prevent
- 24:36Speaker 1: future disasters. Cal is that way you were talking about
- 24:39Speaker 1: saying that some groups like this have some money for
- 24:42Speaker 1: projects like that.
- 24:44Speaker 10: Yeah, Like North Carolina is like a major user of
- 24:49Speaker 10: these funds, right, So it's it's like putting in you know,
- 24:55Speaker 10: like planting bunch of trees and grasses and stuff to
- 25:01Speaker 10: slow down beach erosion and stuff like that.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Question seven, the topic is trapping. This next great question
- 25:08Speaker 1: is via Callum Gray. This type of trap, which has
- 25:12Speaker 1: two rectangular frames that slam shut when triggered, is named
- 25:16Speaker 1: after the man who invented it. This type of trap,
- 25:23Speaker 1: which has two rectangular frames that slam shut when triggered,
- 25:27Speaker 1: is named after the man who invented it? Randall, you
- 25:32Speaker 1: have this one right?
- 25:33Speaker 5: I'm not sure.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Okay, first one to come up with an answer. Over there, Logan,
- 25:36Speaker 1: you have an answer as well. You like your answer?
- 25:39Speaker 6: I know, yeah, I think it's fifty to fifty chance.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Brody and Yanni now joined them. This type of trap,
- 25:46Speaker 1: which has two rectangular frames that slam shut when triggered,
- 25:49Speaker 1: is named after the man who invented it. This is
- 25:52Speaker 1: question seven.
- 25:53Speaker 10: You know had darn Wiley Coyote's always buying and stuff. Acme,
- 26:01Speaker 10: don't give it away.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It's everybody ready.
- 26:06Speaker 2: If he ever actually had one of these traps on
- 26:08Speaker 2: that show, I would have made quite I would have
- 26:11Speaker 2: made a mess out of that.
- 26:14Speaker 1: That require the road Runner to get in it, though
- 26:16Speaker 1: I bet he had one.
- 26:16Speaker 7: It's no.
- 26:17Speaker 1: The roadrunners too fast for the jaws of the trap.
- 26:19Speaker 1: That is only superpower. The road Runner would go through it,
- 26:22Speaker 1: and then Wiley would go inspect it, and then he
- 26:24Speaker 1: would close on him and his eyeballs would pop out.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I'm just guessing.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Everybody ready come along and put a bullet in his
- 26:31Speaker 5: head and skin him.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Cal and Corey are coming up with their answer for
- 26:35Speaker 1: the name of the trap. It's named after the man
- 26:38Speaker 1: who invented it. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 26:43Speaker 1: have Corey and Cal and Marge and Randall. The whole
- 26:49Speaker 1: room says Conna Bear. The whole room got it right.
- 26:52Speaker 1: The correct answer is Conna Bear. Frank Conna Bear was
- 26:57Speaker 1: living in Minnesota when he would designed the trap that's
- 27:01Speaker 1: named after him in nineteen twenty nine. His goal was
- 27:04Speaker 1: to create a lightweight, compact, inexpensive trap that would humanly
- 27:08Speaker 1: kill an animal. He said his inspiration was a giant
- 27:11Speaker 1: egg beater, which he envisioned a mink stepping into and
- 27:15Speaker 1: getting stuck in. He later improved the trap by altering
- 27:18Speaker 1: its shape, which he said was influenced by his mother's
- 27:21Speaker 1: embroidery hoops. So when you're looking at a conabar, you're
- 27:24Speaker 1: looking at something that a man designed based on giant
- 27:28Speaker 1: egg beaters and embroidery hoops.
- 27:30Speaker 7: Wow.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Question eight. The topic is fishing. Monterey Bay Aquarium defines
- 27:36Speaker 1: this event as quote the highest high tides and lowest
- 27:40Speaker 1: low tides of the year. Fishing fishing. Monterey Bay Aquarium
- 27:47Speaker 1: defines this event as the highest high tides and lowest
- 27:51Speaker 1: low tides of the year. The room looks dumped. Yanni
- 28:01Speaker 1: has now come up with an answer. Yanni has had
- 28:04Speaker 1: a good answer that you just wrote down. I mean
- 28:06Speaker 1: it came to me with Monterey Bay Aquarium defines this
- 28:12Speaker 1: event as the highest high tides and lowest low tides
- 28:16Speaker 1: of the year.
- 28:17Speaker 10: So it's a singular event.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Not not giving you any further hints. Hmmm, Yanni the
- 28:29Speaker 1: only player with an answer that he likes.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Rand I've got an answer, but I there's there's a
- 28:37Speaker 3: word I'm scratching around in my head. I feel like
- 28:40Speaker 3: there's another word that I know that it's not coming
- 28:44Speaker 3: to me.
- 28:45Speaker 7: I feel like this is Hemisphere specific too.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Do you Brody now has an answer, dropped his whiteboard
- 28:55Speaker 1: on the table. It seemed like a frustrating, a cocky drop.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I was on a text chain. Everybody else was in Montana,
- 29:04Speaker 2: but there was one fellow down in New Zealand and
- 29:06Speaker 2: someone had to ask about.
- 29:08Speaker 1: The toilet bowls. You know.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Someone, No, no, I've been down there. But it was
- 29:14Speaker 2: funny because the dude answered with like, it's such a
- 29:17Speaker 2: different design that the water doesn't actually swirl, it just
- 29:22Speaker 2: whooshes out of there. And he's like, I think it's
- 29:25Speaker 2: a very poor design. Because there's a lot more streaking
- 29:28Speaker 2: that happens in this design that they used down there, So.
- 29:33Speaker 5: They're basically all just using airplane toilets.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yeah, from the sound of it. Again, this is question eight.
- 29:39Speaker 1: The highest high tides and lowest low water of the year.
- 29:44Speaker 1: It's everybody ready, We're not going to run out of water.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Corey saying equinox,
- 29:51Speaker 1: cal says soon march equinox, Randall says peak tide, logan
- 29:58Speaker 1: swell tide. Yiannis King Brodie, what's that say? The bore tide?
- 30:04Speaker 7: What roll tide?
- 30:05Speaker 1: The correct answer is king tide? Got that one right?
- 30:12Speaker 10: Or the way the question is constructed? What's led me
- 30:16Speaker 10: away from king tide?
- 30:18Speaker 1: Because King be correct? Either you tell me what's a higher.
- 30:25Speaker 10: Tide than a tsunami?
- 30:27Speaker 1: If that's how montere babe, what was I thinking of?
- 30:32Speaker 1: I don't know what the answer would be, King tiede
- 30:35Speaker 1: or the perigean springtide. I don't know that. I don't
- 30:40Speaker 1: know what your answer was.
- 30:41Speaker 10: But like King, king tides can happen many times throughout
- 30:44Speaker 10: the year.
- 30:45Speaker 1: That's right. Nobody said that it can't.
- 30:48Speaker 10: Said the highest this event that's a singular king Do
- 30:54Speaker 10: you describe Monday as an event?
- 30:56Speaker 5: I described sunrise as an event that happened every day.
- 31:02Speaker 1: King tides occur during perigeean, which is when the moon
- 31:05Speaker 1: comes closest to the Earth. This phenomenon happens a few
- 31:09Speaker 1: times a year, with the dates varying across the globe.
- 31:12Speaker 1: A king tide is usually one to two feet higher
- 31:15Speaker 1: than a normal tide, which in some areas will cause
- 31:18Speaker 1: extreme flooding. Phil, we have two questions left. Give us
- 31:21Speaker 1: a scoreboard update.
- 31:23Speaker 10: I mean, you just imagine where you're gonna stand and
- 31:25Speaker 10: somebody's like, hey, king tide today, and somebody's like, oh,
- 31:29Speaker 10: tsunami today. How far back are you going to be?
- 31:32Speaker 10: You'd be closer to the ocean, and they're like, tsunami's coming.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Well, I don't think that's messing with the tides.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Though Maggie has two points, Corey has three, Callum Logan
- 31:42Speaker 4: are tied up with four. Rand Liberty and have five, and.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Holy show, tell Us is run away with the game.
- 31:48Speaker 4: He still has a perfect game with eight points and
- 31:50Speaker 4: he is far ahead.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Leave the room and let you finish just one.
- 31:56Speaker 1: There's a lot of pressure, right now I'm feeling have
- 31:59Speaker 1: you never got perfect game? Right? Okay? And he has
- 32:02Speaker 1: eight through eight questions. Here's question nine. The topic is cooking.
- 32:07Speaker 1: According to Eater magazine, these two New England states are
- 32:11Speaker 1: best known for cream based clam chowder. Hmm. This is
- 32:17Speaker 1: according to Eater magazine, these two New England states are
- 32:21Speaker 1: best known for cream based clam chowder. Randall has a
- 32:28Speaker 1: grin on his face as he wrote down his answer.
- 32:30Speaker 5: I wrote down one state in one city.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Okay, Well, don't do that.
- 32:36Speaker 5: I immediately caught myself two.
- 32:39Speaker 1: States that could have been a hint for Yiannis that
- 32:42Speaker 1: Randall no initially went with a city.
- 32:44Speaker 5: I can say my hint is that it's not a.
- 32:46Speaker 1: City that's helpful. Again, this is question nine, Yanni, perfect game,
- 32:55Speaker 1: But this mains.
- 32:55Speaker 10: Pretty easy in it. But if you're throwing a perfect game,
- 33:00Speaker 10: I can see how challenging.
- 33:02Speaker 1: According to Eater magazine.
- 33:03Speaker 10: So I don't put myself in that situation.
- 33:06Speaker 1: These two New England states are best known for cream
- 33:09Speaker 1: based clam chowder. Sounds good right about now. I made
- 33:14Speaker 1: a good hol that chowder last week. Way better organ
- 33:19Speaker 1: recently had their King tides. I follow some rock counting
- 33:22Speaker 1: organ Facebook groups.
- 33:23Speaker 7: I bet they did.
- 33:25Speaker 1: They're very, very eager for this king tide because it
- 33:29Speaker 1: gives them some more rocks to go look at.
- 33:31Speaker 5: I bet a king tide during the fall equinox would
- 33:33Speaker 5: probably max.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Out, especially at the peak. You go argue with Monterey
- 33:39Speaker 1: Bay Aquarium.
- 33:40Speaker 10: I think fish chowders are awesome. It's just like, no
- 33:43Speaker 10: matter every time you make come, somebody complains about the
- 33:46Speaker 10: smell of the house.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Yeah, who could it be? States you have written out?
- 33:58Speaker 2: I have two states written down, but I don't know if.
- 34:01Speaker 1: They're actual states. Okay, share with the rest state of confusion.
- 34:07Speaker 5: It doesn't matter. I've I'm for you.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Yeah, we're all rooting for you. We want conservation to
- 34:15Speaker 1: really win today. Not just starts. Everybody starts at the border.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Corey saying
- 34:27Speaker 1: Maine in Massachusetts, col Maine in Massachusetts, March Massachusetts and Connecticut.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Randall Maine in Massachusetts. Logan says Massachusetts and New England
- 34:40Speaker 1: out of states. Uh Yannie says Massachusetts and Maryland, crossed
- 34:47Speaker 1: out Maine, New York. Brody says Massachusetts and New York.
- 34:52Speaker 1: The two states are Maine and Massachusetts that brings the
- 34:57Speaker 1: perfect game to an end.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Yeah, who's fun Well lasted.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Though, clam chowder is the most popular version of the dish,
- 35:06Speaker 1: but there are regional variations such as Manhattan Manhattan Chowder,
- 35:10Speaker 1: which is tomato based, and Rhode Island Chowder, which is
- 35:13Speaker 1: broth based. For a classic chowder recipe, check out Lucas
- 35:17Speaker 1: Leif's article on the media dot com called the Ultimate
- 35:19Speaker 1: fish Chowder. Here's a correct answer review so far before
- 35:23Speaker 1: we do question ten. One was Shannandoah National Park two,
- 35:27Speaker 1: Tyler Childers three, Bullion four, Thermis five, john Steinbeck six,
- 35:35Speaker 1: Federal Emergency Management Agency seven, Conna Bear eight, King Tide nine,
- 35:42Speaker 1: Maine and Massachusetts. Here's question ten. The topic is hunting.
- 35:46Speaker 1: When Federal introduced the two twenty four blank in twenty seventeen,
- 35:52Speaker 1: they named the cartridge after female warriors in Norse mythology.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Brody and Randall appear to be very confident. This is
- 36:03Speaker 1: question ten. The topic is haunting cartridge. When Federal introduced
- 36:07Speaker 1: the two twenty four blank in twenty seventeen, they named
- 36:11Speaker 1: the cartridge after female warriors in Norse mythology. You got
- 36:17Speaker 1: a rifle on this cartridge? Oh?
- 36:20Speaker 10: You know how we talked about two twenty two's a
- 36:23Speaker 10: while back. You got reached out and he's like, got one, Like,
- 36:28Speaker 10: I'll sell it to you cheap?
- 36:30Speaker 1: How cheap? Cheap enough that you're gonna buy it?
- 36:33Speaker 8: Oh?
- 36:33Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm gonna buy it.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Cal's gonna be the owner.
- 36:38Speaker 10: I'm gonna buy another gun that I'm super excited about.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Tell us about that.
- 36:43Speaker 10: I'm ordering flintlock.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Oh, you're gonna use it this year?
- 36:47Speaker 10: No ways out yeah again.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Question ten. When Federal introduced to the two twenty four blank,
- 36:56Speaker 1: you need to fill in that blank. In twenty seventeen,
- 36:58Speaker 1: they named the cartridge after female warriors in Norse mythology.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Brody provided a hint by saying it's a cool name.
- 37:06Speaker 7: Well, I mean more of an opinion than a hint.
- 37:12Speaker 5: A very subjective hint.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Uh huh, yanni. Uh. You're gonna get this one right.
- 37:19Speaker 2: I don't right now?
- 37:20Speaker 4: The good thing he built up a lead early.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Yeah, we have Randall and Brody ma only lose by
- 37:28Speaker 1: one point.
- 37:29Speaker 5: He spiked the ball in the two yard line.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Here to four two twenty four blank is everybody but you.
- 37:39Speaker 10: Flint lock percussion cat flint lock?
- 37:42Speaker 1: Yeah, the old school.
- 37:43Speaker 10: Well, man, everybody I've talked to is like, the designs
- 37:46Speaker 10: actually better for for getting the fire down into the powders.
- 37:51Speaker 7: So really, yeah, yeah, I'm.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Talking to somebody this morning about it. Actually, he was
- 37:56Speaker 2: shooting both side by side, and he's like, man, I
- 37:58Speaker 2: was ringing steel with him for caps, and then when
- 38:00Speaker 2: that explosion happened right next to my eye, I couldn't.
- 38:03Speaker 7: See it ship. So just that's just a little bit.
- 38:08Speaker 10: Of yeah, well acquaintance to mine. I mean, he's got
- 38:16Speaker 10: quite the record with with his flint lock, so I'm
- 38:19Speaker 10: just going off of his his stats.
- 38:21Speaker 1: And they're talking about participating in Montana's December general season
- 38:25Speaker 1: what do they call it? The Heritage season? Everybody ready,
- 38:32Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Corey saying
- 38:35Speaker 1: the two twenty four zena Warrior Princess Disney Channel cal
- 38:40Speaker 1: says Valkyrie, Marge without an answer, Randall says Valkyrie. Logan
- 38:46Speaker 1: says Lapua or a loop loopa? Okay, Donnas says swift.
- 38:53Speaker 1: What's the Swift caliber? Is it a two? And Brody
- 38:58Speaker 1: says Valkyrie. The correct answer is Valkyrie. Valkyrie are a
- 39:03Speaker 1: group of maidens who serve the god Odin. They are
- 39:06Speaker 1: sent to battlefields to choose which soldiers are worthy of
- 39:10Speaker 1: going to Valhalla. The two to twenty four Valkyrie was
- 39:13Speaker 1: introduced as a varmit cartridge, with most bullets weighing between
- 39:16Speaker 1: sixty and ninety grains. During the COVID AMMO shortage. It
- 39:20Speaker 1: was some of the easiest ammo to buy, as tracked
- 39:23Speaker 1: by Jordan Sillers in a twenty twenty one med Eater
- 39:26Speaker 1: article called the hardest and easiest AMMO to buy right Now.
- 39:30Speaker 1: During that article, Logan was, excuse me, Jordan was looking
- 39:33Speaker 1: at inventories and he found that you could buy the
- 39:36Speaker 1: two to twenty four Valkyrie almost anywhere. That brings us
- 39:40Speaker 1: to the end of the game. Yanni has won with
- 39:42Speaker 1: eight correct answers. We should have stopped it question eight.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean, because then it would have remained
- 39:51Speaker 2: a perfect game.
- 39:51Speaker 1: What are you gonna do with your five hundred dollars today? Oh?
- 39:54Speaker 2: Man, I hadn't.
