- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. So much is a steak? I
- 0:14Speaker 1: need a lot more on my play. Scot Touchdown Tour.
- 0:19Speaker 1: He set his sport in four games. Touchdown Ale Piers
- 0:25Speaker 1: thirty two, twenty seven Colts, they pick up pepperd my home.
- 0:29Speaker 1: The fields come from behind. How about that touchdowns the
- 0:37Speaker 1: stick up touchdown, Kyle pets caught it, Tobar Chase sixty
- 0:43Speaker 1: yard hodels down cover up close to the cover all
- 0:47Speaker 1: the time. That's a closing play. There a major uphet.
- 0:51Speaker 1: How sweet it is, baby Kirks he stop ground at
- 0:56Speaker 1: sluts cut for the touchdown six and old Philadelphia Eagles.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It's another one of those Mondays to overreact after another
- 1:11Speaker 1: one of those Sundays in which just when you thought
- 1:14Speaker 1: you had a grass on who's good and who isn't
- 1:18Speaker 1: good in the National Football League, you go, yeah, I
- 1:22Speaker 1: don't know anymore. I do know this, however, I love
- 1:24Speaker 1: Mondays and I love working with Steve boy. It's great
- 1:26Speaker 1: to see a certain can't we overreact that we write
- 1:28Speaker 1: about mediocrity right now? Three and three is about where
- 1:31Speaker 1: our reactions are right. A lot of teams are consistently,
- 1:34Speaker 1: in consistent. The Eagles are the last remaining undefeated. Still
- 1:38Speaker 1: we know that they're six and oh they get the
- 1:41Speaker 1: Steelers next, and the Texans, the Commanders. The Colts. Looked
- 1:44Speaker 1: the schedule and we've said this for a while, sets
- 1:47Speaker 1: up well for them. India is now over five hundred.
- 1:50Speaker 1: But the Colts and then the two NFC East teams,
- 1:53Speaker 1: the Cowboys and the Giants. Those three are the only
- 1:56Speaker 1: three games on the Eagle schedule right now against teams
- 2:00Speaker 1: that have currently winning records. There's a clear your path
- 2:05Speaker 1: to Glendale. Speaking of Glendale, Oh, by the way, the
- 2:09Speaker 1: team that resides there now the Arizona Cardinals, and that
- 2:13Speaker 1: is where Hi, Ian, Hi, Tom Super Bowl fifty seven
- 2:16Speaker 1: will be played. That team just made a trade. We
- 2:20Speaker 1: kind of knew Robby Anderson was going somewhere after yesterday.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Ian sources say Robbie Anderson, the now former Carolina Panthers receiver,
- 2:28Speaker 1: is headed to the Arizona Cardinals. A deal just struck
- 2:31Speaker 1: in the last couple of minutes. And you mentioned and
- 2:33Speaker 1: Robbie Anderson has been shopped by the Panthers. Really over
- 2:36Speaker 1: the course of the last couple of weeks, it seems
- 2:38Speaker 1: like he was on the same page with that as well,
- 2:40Speaker 1: So all parties were kind of moving forward knowing that
- 2:42Speaker 1: this was not going to be a long term thing.
- 2:44Speaker 1: And after the sideline dispute yesterday that saw Steve Wilkes
- 2:47Speaker 1: and him head coach send Robbie Anderson to the locker room,
- 2:51Speaker 1: today was the day it ended up happening the Arizona Cardinals,
- 2:54Speaker 1: who also have an injury now potential injury to Hollywood
- 2:58Speaker 1: Brown and UH also get DeAndre Hopkins back this week.
- 3:01Speaker 1: By the way, tom Uh, they have now acquired another ebra,
- 3:05Speaker 1: another weapon for quarterback Kyler Murray, and the Cardinals are
- 3:10Speaker 1: sitting there right now ian at two and four their
- 3:13Speaker 1: own three at home and searching for answers, particularly now
- 3:16Speaker 1: that Hollywood Brown is banged up with a foot injury.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Rely for the Panthers, they were looking to move on
- 3:21Speaker 1: from Robbie Anderson as soon as they fired coach Matt
- 3:24Speaker 1: Rule a week ago. Anderson was one of the guys
- 3:27Speaker 1: that Rule really wanted on the team. They go back
- 3:29Speaker 1: to their days at Temple together once Rule was out.
- 3:33Speaker 1: As part of the shift that we've seen here in
- 3:35Speaker 1: terms of interim coach, Steve Wilkes also missing some of
- 3:38Speaker 1: the assistants who are very close to Matt Rule. Anderson
- 3:40Speaker 1: was another one they wanted to move on from, even
- 3:42Speaker 1: before what happened on the sideline yesterday. Also worth noting here,
- 3:46Speaker 1: the Cardinals only take on about six ninety thousand dollars
- 3:49Speaker 1: in base salary. That's the pro raded portion of Anderson's
- 3:52Speaker 1: minimum base salary for the rest of the season, because
- 3:54Speaker 1: the Panthers converted about eleven point seven million dollars into
- 3:58Speaker 1: a signing bonus earlier this year. So there's obviously dead
- 4:01Speaker 1: cap that the Panthers have to deal with here, But
- 4:03Speaker 1: it's a player that they were going to move on
- 4:05Speaker 1: from Arizona. They hope adding that Dosa spin at the
- 4:08Speaker 1: same time that they hope DeAndre Hopkins is going to
- 4:10Speaker 1: be back in rage roll sooner than later is something
- 4:13Speaker 1: big for them. Remember Thursday night game this week, so
- 4:15Speaker 1: not a lot of time to get Hopkins or Anderson
- 4:18Speaker 1: ready to play in this one. That Thursday night game
- 4:20Speaker 1: the Cardinals and the Saints. Questions about the Saints injuries
- 4:23Speaker 1: will get to them a little bit later in the show.
- 4:25Speaker 1: It is a long list I want to keep going
- 4:26Speaker 1: here with the Panthers though, I because you guys all
- 4:29Speaker 1: spoke and have the story on Saturday, but spoke of
- 4:31Speaker 1: it yesterday on game day morning. The Christian McCaffrey situation.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Panthers would want a lot for him. He played well yesterday.
- 4:40Speaker 1: The trade deadlines fifteen days away, right, what do we here? Well,
- 4:45Speaker 1: here's my understanding of the situation. The Carolina Panthers are
- 4:48Speaker 1: fielding calls uh surrounding Christian McCaffrey, centered around Christian McCaffrey.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Teams want him, no surprises. The face of the franchise
- 4:55Speaker 1: in a very very good running back who has a
- 4:58Speaker 1: deal this year that has already been uh, that has
- 5:01Speaker 1: already been restructured. So it's just one million dollars running
- 5:04Speaker 1: back in his prime. To it seems interesting. Carolina Panthers
- 5:06Speaker 1: are not gonna have a fire sale. I'm going to
- 5:08Speaker 1: give away their good players. And if they're going to
- 5:11Speaker 1: trade McCaffrey, which I would say is possible, it's gonna
- 5:14Speaker 1: be for a high price. So where does that land? Well,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I would say, uh, premium players are generally traded for
- 5:20Speaker 1: first round picks. Could the Carolina Panthers get that? Possibly? Conceivably,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I would expect them to take their time on this one, though,
- 5:27Speaker 1: Maybe see what the market brings come closer to the
- 5:30Speaker 1: trade deadline. All right, Christian McCaffrey still very much out there.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Tom cam Acres could be out there as well. Sean
- 5:39Speaker 1: McVeigh made the surprising revelation on Friday, saying, um, he's
- 5:43Speaker 1: down this week. We're not gonna plan, We're gonna keep
- 5:45Speaker 1: it internal. We are working through some things. What does
- 5:48Speaker 1: that mean, Andrew? There have been signs here that things
- 5:51Speaker 1: are not headed in a good direction for the Rams
- 5:52Speaker 1: and cam Akers, going all the way back to Week one,
- 5:55Speaker 1: where there were plenty of people, including people might have
- 5:57Speaker 1: him in fantasy football, who were surprised at his minimal workload.
- 6:01Speaker 1: What I was told at that time was that cam
- 6:04Speaker 1: Akers for his racklist comeback last year, of course from
- 6:06Speaker 1: the torn achilles, returning in time for the postseason stretch.
- 6:10Speaker 1: When he came into camp this year, he still looked
- 6:12Speaker 1: like a guy who hadn't played a lot of football
- 6:14Speaker 1: in the past couple of years. He obviously wasn't, in
- 6:17Speaker 1: the Rams opinion, ready to take on a bigger roll
- 6:19Speaker 1: out of the gates. He rolled never really increased to
- 6:22Speaker 1: the point that Acres wanted to Ian reported that there
- 6:24Speaker 1: were football and philosophical differences between the sides here. I
- 6:28Speaker 1: can tell you this, and I've gotten calls about it
- 6:30Speaker 1: this morning in terms of what exactly is going on
- 6:32Speaker 1: with cam Akers because there's a lot of other teams
- 6:34Speaker 1: that are looking at this and saying, a twenty three
- 6:36Speaker 1: year old who's been productive in the league, who has
- 6:39Speaker 1: cost controlled for another year beyond this one on his
- 6:43Speaker 1: rookie contract, those guys generally don't get traded. It does sound, though,
- 6:47Speaker 1: as if this is headed toward a divorce between the
- 6:49Speaker 1: Rams and cam Acres. Where does he turn up? All
- 6:52Speaker 1: that made depending part on what the Rams plans might
- 6:55Speaker 1: be in terms of other guys that they're trying to
- 6:57Speaker 1: bring in at the same time that they're looking to
- 7:00Speaker 1: move on for making with all kinds of injuries on
- 7:02Speaker 1: the offensive line. Don't know if that's a trade that
- 7:04Speaker 1: can be worked out here. The I don't have many
- 7:05Speaker 1: high picks. He was one of them, a second round
- 7:09Speaker 1: pick just a few years ago. Anytime. Ian. The quarterback
- 7:12Speaker 1: situation that Bears monitoring in Washington popped up on Saturday,
- 7:18Speaker 1: and that is Carson Wentz with a finger injury. They
- 7:22Speaker 1: got out of Thursday with a victory in Chicago. What's
- 7:25Speaker 1: his status. He has a fractured ring finger, which he
- 7:28Speaker 1: played through during the game. You could see he was
- 7:30Speaker 1: messing with that. He was putting in that warming thing
- 7:32Speaker 1: that he had attached on the back of his back.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I guess trying to keep it lose, trying to keep
- 7:37Speaker 1: playing with it. And then he had scanned and additional
- 7:39Speaker 1: tests after the game revealed a fractured finger. He is
- 7:43Speaker 1: right now actually in Los Angeles, meeting with a hand
- 7:45Speaker 1: specialist to see what's next surgery. Is this something he
- 7:49Speaker 1: can play through? It seems to me guys like this
- 7:52Speaker 1: would be very, very difficult to play through. I guess
- 7:55Speaker 1: anything as possible, but that's what it looks like, which
- 7:57Speaker 1: could mean we'd see a lot of Taylor Heineke coming
- 8:00Speaker 1: in for the Washington Commanders, which we'll see if that's
- 8:03Speaker 1: good or bad. He's played well when he's had the
- 8:04Speaker 1: oppertu tunity, and that might come. And there's Sam Howell,
- 8:08Speaker 1: who they drafted this year, the rookie from North Carolina
- 8:10Speaker 1: who looked pretty good when he was given a chance
- 8:12Speaker 1: in the preseason. He is waiting there in the wings
- 8:14Speaker 1: as well. All Right, let's do the Jack Easterby story
- 8:17Speaker 1: in Houston and for people outside of Houston, for people
- 8:20Speaker 1: that only maybe fall of fantasy football of your favorite team,
- 8:22Speaker 1: you probably have no idea who this guy is. But
- 8:25Speaker 1: Tom He's very influential, has been the last couple of
- 8:28Speaker 1: years in the Houston front office. The man behind the man,
- 8:30Speaker 1: if you will, Jack Easterby is no longer with the Texans.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Tell me the story. Andrew by understanding is that this
- 8:36Speaker 1: was really a mutual party of the ways between the
- 8:39Speaker 1: Texans and Jack Easterby, who recently approached owner kel McNair
- 8:43Speaker 1: about buying out his long term contract at the Houston
- 8:46Speaker 1: Texans had signed him to and moving on to doing
- 8:50Speaker 1: something else. Really for months here, going all the way
- 8:52Speaker 1: back to February, when the Texans made the very surprising
- 8:56Speaker 1: move to promote Lovely Smith to the head coaching role
- 9:00Speaker 1: against what Easterby wanted to do for the organization. It
- 9:03Speaker 1: probably was not going to end up a good place.
- 9:05Speaker 1: There was a lot that Easterby was absolutely involved in
- 9:08Speaker 1: terms of the cultural overhaul. Of course, this was at
- 9:11Speaker 1: the same time that they moved on from DeAndre Hopkins.
- 9:13Speaker 1: They ultimately moved on from de Shaun Watson as well.
- 9:16Speaker 1: He was involved in facilities, every aspect of the football operation.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Also of course, involved in the hiring of his friend,
- 9:22Speaker 1: general manager Nick Casserio, who remains in Houston. Here. We'll
- 9:26Speaker 1: see where this goes from here. For Casserio, love you Smith,
- 9:29Speaker 1: that organization. He is a lightning rod of controversy. If
- 9:33Speaker 1: you listen to Houston Sports Talk Radio again, Houston Sports
- 9:37Speaker 1: Talk Radio very much a local story out radio. I
- 9:41Speaker 1: do not, but you do know what I'm talking about
- 9:45Speaker 1: here Texans coming off of by Astro's big playoff win
- 9:48Speaker 1: over the weekend. Guarantee you they're burning up the phones
- 9:51Speaker 1: today and Jack Easterby, thank you and thank you Tom.
- 9:55Speaker 1: We continue on at now and I don't. I don't
- 9:59Speaker 1: listen to Houston Sports Talk Radio. I would love to
- 10:02Speaker 1: hear Buffalo Sports Talk radio today though after a bond
- 10:04Speaker 1: mill our help close the Chiefs out yesterday. What a
- 10:08Speaker 1: game we had an arrowhead. We tell that story next. No, alright,
- 10:17Speaker 1: which the game you're waiting for? You watched eight games
- 10:19Speaker 1: early and then this one is the one. Everyone circled
- 10:22Speaker 1: Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes. Fifth time in twenty four months
- 10:26Speaker 1: they eat They actually were sportless after one, and then
- 10:29Speaker 1: Gabe Davis happened, just like the playoffs a year ago.
- 10:31Speaker 1: That was a a drive that started on the fool
- 10:35Speaker 1: and just the past is beautiful. Gabe Davis continues making
- 10:37Speaker 1: big plays for this team. But then another kickoffer could here?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Betwe these two teams bills with a kickoff. They squib
- 10:42Speaker 1: it and they give Mahomes a shot for one play
- 10:44Speaker 1: to setup Harrison, Butker sixty two yards Bucker's back yep
- 10:49Speaker 1: hadn't played since week one. He makes a difference. He's
- 10:51Speaker 1: a weapon. That's a Chiefs record, a Bucker record. Everyone
- 10:55Speaker 1: is kind of sort of going, yeah, we're tied of ten.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Let's go to the third quarter. Midway through the third quarter,
- 11:00Speaker 1: Josh Allen Stefan Giggs not fair. I mean, looky, look
- 11:04Speaker 1: at look at the ball placing on this. The coverage
- 11:06Speaker 1: was there, but you have two of the best players
- 11:07Speaker 1: in the NFL connect one of ten catches on the
- 11:10Speaker 1: day for Stefon Digs. Patrick Mahomes would answer dancing, dancing
- 11:14Speaker 1: and finding McCole Hardman. Were tied at seventeen. Now the
- 11:19Speaker 1: fourth quarter, and now you're Josh Allen put it in
- 11:23Speaker 1: the louver drive. Here is Josh Allen leaping Justin Reid.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I mean this type of play when you've got a
- 11:31Speaker 1: tight end basically a tight end size quarterback who can
- 11:34Speaker 1: move like this and make plays like that. It shows
- 11:36Speaker 1: his competitiveness. And and watch him direct off the ox
- 11:41Speaker 1: to the front pilock and then he has a hand panic.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I mean, he has to drill this and the fact
- 11:48Speaker 1: he even had the guts to make that throw was insane.
- 11:51Speaker 1: But it is not over because Patrick Mahomes had a
- 11:53Speaker 1: minute left until Terren Johnson ended it. The Bills opened
- 11:58Speaker 1: this game with an interception of Mahomes. They end this
- 12:02Speaker 1: game with an interception of Mahomes twenty to twenty. The
- 12:05Speaker 1: final arrow. I want to win against the best, UM,
- 12:09Speaker 1: and he's he's put himself up there, so definitely you
- 12:13Speaker 1: want to win against the best and play against the
- 12:14Speaker 1: best football teams. UM, But when you lose, at least
- 12:17Speaker 1: you're losing to the best. So so you have two
- 12:20Speaker 1: great quarterbacks, two great teams, you have two great coaches
- 12:23Speaker 1: going at it. UM, that's what you want. And UM
- 12:26Speaker 1: we lost this time, UM, but hopefully we can battle
- 12:29Speaker 1: back and have another chance when we get to the playoffs. Well,
- 12:31Speaker 1: and you and I talked this week, and part of
- 12:33Speaker 1: the reason you came to Buffalo is bring that championship mindset.
- 12:36Speaker 1: What does this game do for where you guys want
- 12:38Speaker 1: to be? Man, we're still going. Man, it's a great
- 12:40Speaker 1: team win. We knew it was gonna be a tough one.
- 12:42Speaker 1: We knew he was gonna have to go as sixty minutes,
- 12:43Speaker 1: if not seventy minutes. We just kept fighting. And the
- 12:46Speaker 1: motto is don't blink. We didn't blink when it was down.
- 12:49Speaker 1: We blink when he's up. Great team wining for the Bills.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I'm sitting on the sidelines. Third down, It's like, come on, Von,
- 12:53Speaker 1: come on Von, And you know, sure enough he goes
- 12:56Speaker 1: out there and makes makes a bunch of plays and um,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and I'm proud of our team. And we battled tonight.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Obviously didn't start off how we wanted to. Guys just
- 13:04Speaker 1: kept their head down, didn't didn't panic, didn't blink, is
- 13:07Speaker 1: is what we like to say in our locker room.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Trusted the game plan, Um, trusted situational football, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 1: and got w night. That's that's that was our only
- 13:16Speaker 1: goal to come in here. And um, if it's if
- 13:18Speaker 1: it's by one, it's by d um, it's another win.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And um that's what we're trying to do each and
- 13:24Speaker 1: every week. I do think it's big that it wasn't
- 13:27Speaker 1: by a hundred. The Bills have now won two games
- 13:29Speaker 1: this year, one score game, something they could not do
- 13:31Speaker 1: last year. James Palmer, you saw there talking on the
- 13:34Speaker 1: field after the game. Steve watch back with me as well,
- 13:37Speaker 1: talking about von Miller here, James and the fact that
- 13:41Speaker 1: he is the closer. That's why they got him. He
- 13:44Speaker 1: didn't pick off Patrick Mahomes, but his rush helped pick
- 13:49Speaker 1: off Patrick Mahomes. And in that game, Andrew and and
- 13:53Speaker 1: you said it. So let's start there. It wasn't just
- 13:55Speaker 1: that it was the final three drives that the Kansas
- 13:58Speaker 1: City Chiefs had that von Miller made a massive play.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Let's go to the first one where Patrick Mahomes scrambles
- 14:03Speaker 1: all over the place, really runs and who circles Vaughan
- 14:05Speaker 1: almost had in the first time around, comes back the
- 14:08Speaker 1: second time around, hurdles of teammate and tackles him and
- 14:11Speaker 1: the Chiefs have to settle for a field goal. The
- 14:13Speaker 1: next drive for the Chiefs is a three and out
- 14:15Speaker 1: where third and six, von Miller goes out in sacks
- 14:18Speaker 1: packtrick Mahomes and that leads to the Bills having that
- 14:21Speaker 1: massive game winning drive we just saw. And then you
- 14:23Speaker 1: mentioned it's his pass rush on a three man pass
- 14:26Speaker 1: rush that leads to that interception. And that was one
- 14:29Speaker 1: of the biggest reasons why they wanted to get von
- 14:31Speaker 1: Miller because he could get after Patrick Mahomes, something that
- 14:33Speaker 1: they couldn't do in that divisional round Thriller that they
- 14:36Speaker 1: lost last year. And also because of what he does
- 14:39Speaker 1: that spreads to the rest of this group. And I
- 14:41Speaker 1: had a chance to talk to members of the coaching
- 14:43Speaker 1: staff before the game who said, our offensive tackles Steve
- 14:47Speaker 1: are better this year because of the conversations that they've
- 14:50Speaker 1: had with von Miller. Gregor Russo is a better player
- 14:52Speaker 1: because of what von Miller has come in and done,
- 14:54Speaker 1: so he spread it throughout the group. His knowledge and
- 14:57Speaker 1: that veteran presence and that veteran presence to still make
- 15:00Speaker 1: big plays at big moments. That's the other aspect we
- 15:03Speaker 1: saw last night. Yeah, absolutely, JP. I me with Devon
- 15:05Speaker 1: Miller's pastor's camp in Vegas this year and he brought
- 15:07Speaker 1: a j Epanessa and Boogie Basham and Greg Russo and
- 15:11Speaker 1: just the way they hung around him. They hadn't been
- 15:13Speaker 1: around a guy like him, So having the veteran presence
- 15:15Speaker 1: around those young guys has translated. And you talk about
- 15:18Speaker 1: the impact, or Josh Allen talked about the impact here
- 15:22Speaker 1: is impact because James, you know that living in Denver,
- 15:24Speaker 1: people there thought he might have been done. And his
- 15:27Speaker 1: last sixteen games are great. Research department came up with this.
- 15:33Speaker 1: His teams are fourteen and two. He has fifteen sacks
- 15:37Speaker 1: in those games. That's not including the pressures, that's not
- 15:40Speaker 1: including some of the other things. That is impact. I mean,
- 15:43Speaker 1: that's why Buffalo did what they did to go out
- 15:45Speaker 1: and get him, because they know they needed a closure
- 15:47Speaker 1: like him. But also what he can do to have
- 15:50Speaker 1: his blood run through the veins of that franchise and
- 15:52Speaker 1: the impact that he's having again, JB. Isn't amazing that
- 15:57Speaker 1: in Denver that they actually were wondering what he had
- 16:00Speaker 1: left And he's like, how you like me? Now? Yeah,
- 16:04Speaker 1: it's true, Steve, We're real quick. I'll say this. You know,
- 16:06Speaker 1: talking a couple of guys on that coaching staff before
- 16:08Speaker 1: the game, they said, we got von Miller at the
- 16:10Speaker 1: perfect time, that veteran experience, that veteran presence. He's an
- 16:14Speaker 1: open book but still playing at a really high level.
- 16:16Speaker 1: They think right now was the premier time to bring
- 16:19Speaker 1: in Von Moon and the entire team, the entire defense
- 16:22Speaker 1: has faith in him and is learning from him. I
- 16:24Speaker 1: almost feel, even though he's what nine years younger, that
- 16:29Speaker 1: Josh Allen has that same aura an influence on the offense.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Not just with his play. His place speaks for itself,
- 16:37Speaker 1: but the way Stefon Diggs and everyone speak of their
- 16:41Speaker 1: quarterback and how they just James have the utmost faith
- 16:43Speaker 1: in the guy. They do. And the other example of that,
- 16:47Speaker 1: Andrew is the play calling of Ken Dorsey. That shows
- 16:50Speaker 1: the faith that they have in Josh Allen, the way
- 16:52Speaker 1: they are aggressive as opposed to a lot of offenses
- 16:55Speaker 1: when Josh Allen is taking the snap in his own
- 16:57Speaker 1: end zone. You saw it last week where they go
- 16:59Speaker 1: roughly ninety nine yards for a touchdown. They did it
- 17:01Speaker 1: before the half where they go ninety six yards against
- 17:03Speaker 1: this Chief's defense a massive game where they're having him
- 17:07Speaker 1: throw out of his own end zone. That play calling
- 17:09Speaker 1: shows a lot of the faith that they have and
- 17:11Speaker 1: Josh Allen and look what he did. Throw in the
- 17:12Speaker 1: football down the field and passes over fifteen yards in
- 17:15Speaker 1: the area, goes nine of ten for two four yards
- 17:18Speaker 1: in a perfect passer rating. They love being aggressive with him,
- 17:22Speaker 1: and you showed the highlights there. The ball really never
- 17:24Speaker 1: left his hands in that game winning drive. And that's
- 17:27Speaker 1: the faith that they have. In seventeen, everybody in the
- 17:30Speaker 1: locker room said the same thing to me. We just
- 17:32Speaker 1: feel like we can win at any point in any
- 17:34Speaker 1: game from any spot on the field because of Josh
- 17:37Speaker 1: Allen and the way he directs traffic there for Dawson
- 17:39Speaker 1: Knox in that game winning touchdown right that way, that way, damn.
- 17:43Speaker 1: And then it's a hand cannon. I mean, it's a
- 17:45Speaker 1: ball that most quarterbacks simply cannot throw and cannot put
- 17:50Speaker 1: in a window that's small, and it's a game winning touchdown.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Chiefs Bills the first of a I'm gonna say scheduled too,
- 17:58Speaker 1: because we just assume they're gonna face each other in January. Now,
- 18:02Speaker 1: that game very well could be an Orchard Park, thank you,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I get that. Want to coming up next. You probably
- 18:07Speaker 1: haven't noticed, Mabe. I can guarantee you have. But Arthur
- 18:10Speaker 1: Smith is coaching some football in Atlanta. Falkins did it again.
- 18:16Speaker 1: That's next. The duties are sweet, Steve White. I used
- 18:22Speaker 1: to do a show at fen where we would do
- 18:24Speaker 1: like ten to play highlights in a segment. We're gonna
- 18:26Speaker 1: do seven here and okay, Kyle Shanahan back in Atlanta
- 18:30Speaker 1: team in an early hole when Jeff Wilson fumbled and
- 18:33Speaker 1: then a j Tarle got lucky here he put a
- 18:35Speaker 1: humbled us through the end zone. He got very lucky.
- 18:37Speaker 1: They had a teammate there to scoop it up. Would
- 18:39Speaker 1: be Jalen Hawkins fell on it. Falcons up fourteen to nothing.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And then the Falcons with the run game what Kyle
- 18:44Speaker 1: Shanahan loves to do, Arthur Smith is doing, pound the
- 18:48Speaker 1: football and then used to play action to hit Kyle
- 18:51Speaker 1: hits there. Falcons win twenty fourteen. Marcus Barriott is barely
- 18:56Speaker 1: throwing it, but hey against the bank up defense, they
- 18:58Speaker 1: are three and three. We got a great group of
- 19:01Speaker 1: guys that truly believe in what the culture is being
- 19:04Speaker 1: built here. And that's and that's fun to be a
- 19:06Speaker 1: part of um. You know, when I was a free agent,
- 19:08Speaker 1: I was looking at places to play a new art
- 19:10Speaker 1: here was gonna build that type of locker room. And
- 19:13Speaker 1: when you got a bunch of good guys that enjoy
- 19:15Speaker 1: coming to work, that want to put in their best
- 19:18Speaker 1: effort for each other and not just one of themselves, Um,
- 19:21Speaker 1: you're gonna find ways to win games and be successful.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Self inflicted wounds was the big that was the story
- 19:26Speaker 1: of the day. Um, And you know it was a correctable,
- 19:29Speaker 1: but just you can't have them. You can't have as
- 19:32Speaker 1: many as we had out there. And when you do
- 19:33Speaker 1: have him, you gotta overcome it. And you know we
- 19:35Speaker 1: didn't do that today. So it starts with me though,
- 19:37Speaker 1: and we just gotta be better. Jimmy, I love the jacket?
- 19:40Speaker 1: Can I get it in a small? Steve? Every Arizona
- 19:43Speaker 1: Cardinals movie is the same. It's the same. They have
- 19:46Speaker 1: nothing offensively early, they try to get it going late
- 19:49Speaker 1: here in the third quarter, down twelve, the three Kyler,
- 19:52Speaker 1: the tiny dancers, you know, just like, oh no, that's
- 19:56Speaker 1: not good. Tarik Woolen, Tarike Woolen the corner, what a
- 20:00Speaker 1: season he is having, Kyler's first lost fumble of the year.
- 20:03Speaker 1: And then Kenneth walk he did it, He did it.
- 20:07Speaker 1: The root put it away. Gino and the US are
- 20:10Speaker 1: three and three. It felt like one of those heavyweight fights.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Man division opponent, they know us, we know them, was
- 20:17Speaker 1: going back and forth. Their defense did a great job,
- 20:19Speaker 1: but I feel like when we needed it the most
- 20:21Speaker 1: are gout stepped up. We're able to get like a
- 20:23Speaker 1: seventy seventy five yard drive against a really tough defense,
- 20:26Speaker 1: score points give us the lead. And uh, you know,
- 20:28Speaker 1: that's what we talk about, complimentary football. You know, that's
- 20:31Speaker 1: what it's all about. Everyone playing together. The defense play
- 20:33Speaker 1: spectacular today. Um, and and that's what we're gonna need
- 20:37Speaker 1: moving forward. I got to do a better job of
- 20:38Speaker 1: making sure we're um running things that we can extually
- 20:41Speaker 1: at a high level and be efficient and stay on
- 20:43Speaker 1: scheduling and you know, score touchdowns. We're just struggling throughout
- 20:48Speaker 1: the season. Um. So it starts there. And then, uh, execution,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you know, route team plays that we make in practice
- 20:57Speaker 1: and how we do it in practice has to carry
- 20:59Speaker 1: over the games. And right now it's not for a reason,
- 21:01Speaker 1: same movie, same movie too. For the Jaguards on the
- 21:05Speaker 1: road in the division, they've lost thirteen consecutive games on
- 21:08Speaker 1: the road in the a f C South. But it
- 21:09Speaker 1: looks as if Trevor Lawrence was going to get a
- 21:11Speaker 1: win yesterday. Christian Kirk touchdown late. Now he set up
- 21:15Speaker 1: look like they were would come back and beat the
- 21:17Speaker 1: Colts once again. But Matt Ryan, the iceman, Matt Ryan
- 21:21Speaker 1: had an historic day. Third and thirteen of twenty three
- 21:25Speaker 1: seconds left. Here they're setting up for a chase McLaughlan
- 21:28Speaker 1: field by except they're not. Ryan took a shot Piers
- 21:33Speaker 1: to get five. Piers covers all old room, Trevor Lawrences.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I want to do that one day. Matt Ryan forty
- 21:41Speaker 1: two of fifty eight footy two for three, nine and three.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Speaking of the same old movie, Bill Belichick had watched
- 21:49Speaker 1: The browns Field. It's the same movie every week as well,
- 21:51Speaker 1: and that is they run the ball reasonably well, but
- 21:53Speaker 1: the defense just can't cover, can't stop the run. Bailey Zappy,
- 21:59Speaker 1: to his credit, played well, there's Taypewon Thornton, the rookie
- 22:02Speaker 1: from Baylor with a touchdown. Brent Delpotz as an fell
- 22:05Speaker 1: down to this hunter Henry touchdown. I don't know. You
- 22:08Speaker 1: only try to contain him. Manager Bill Belichick. This morning, Hey,
- 22:10Speaker 1: do we have a quarterback question. When Mac Jones comes back,
- 22:16Speaker 1: where do you see the starting quarterback situation? Who do
- 22:20Speaker 1: you expect to be the starter at once Matt Jones
- 22:22Speaker 1: is healthy, what we'll see the process is Max Dol's
- 22:26Speaker 1: and I will play yesterday, so um, you know, will
- 22:29Speaker 1: continue to evaluate him and and you know, see how
- 22:32Speaker 1: he's doing physically. Okay Belichick, t Eyes, Papa Bear, George
- 22:36Speaker 1: hallis second of the all type. How about how Joe
- 22:38Speaker 1: Burrow showed up in the Naddy in the New Orleans. Yes,
- 22:43Speaker 1: Jamar Chase won the Daddy as his teammate wearing Jamar's jersey.
- 22:47Speaker 1: You're back and forth game, good game. Here's the Jamar
- 22:49Speaker 1: Chase touchdown. Bengals cut the league to two, and then
- 22:53Speaker 1: the Bengals strong. Here Jamaar chased down the sideline with
- 22:58Speaker 1: two minutes to go, and that is a huge Bengals
- 23:02Speaker 1: wind back home for Burrow and Chase. New Orleans. You
- 23:08Speaker 1: know we just got it wrong. Um, defense got the
- 23:12Speaker 1: stops when we needed to. I wouldn't say it felt different.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I would say, you know, we we made the plays
- 23:17Speaker 1: when we needed to win the games. And that's what
- 23:20Speaker 1: has you know, escaped our grasp for the first five
- 23:24Speaker 1: games and those three wins, we just didn't quite make
- 23:26Speaker 1: that one last play to win. Today we did. Joe
- 23:30Speaker 1: Burrow and the Bengals a huge road win. Tom Brady
- 23:33Speaker 1: and the Bucks thought they were going to get a
- 23:34Speaker 1: road win. The Steelers the biggest underdog of the day
- 23:38Speaker 1: to win. They're trying to hang on late four and
- 23:40Speaker 1: a half ago, Leonard Fournette bulldozes his way into the
- 23:43Speaker 1: end zone. They were down eight. Now they need the
- 23:45Speaker 1: two point conversion. But how about the play Devin Bush
- 23:47Speaker 1: made here, Steve, this is a fantastic play all the
- 23:50Speaker 1: time in the world for Brady. Bush undercuts it. When's
- 23:54Speaker 1: the ballgame feeling and the Steelers get to two and four? There?
- 23:58Speaker 1: What a eight team winners over the Buck and Ears.
- 24:01Speaker 1: We have some breaking news here just hitting my phone
- 24:04Speaker 1: sent by Ian Raff. Report that Carson Wentz injury in
- 24:09Speaker 1: UH is significant. Yeah, significant and potentially serious. Carson Wentz
- 24:14Speaker 1: in Los Angeles right now seeing a hand specialist. Could
- 24:18Speaker 1: have more information on this throughout the day. But my
- 24:21Speaker 1: understanding this is something I'm reporting with Kyllige, Mike Garrett, Folo,
- 24:24Speaker 1: is that Carson Wentz faces a four to six week
- 24:28Speaker 1: recovery time four to six weeks injured reserve is described
- 24:32Speaker 1: to me as a possibility, So that might be something
- 24:36Speaker 1: where we see once go on, I remember it's just
- 24:37Speaker 1: four weeks this year, uh, and come back after that.
- 24:41Speaker 1: There's also a possibility of surgery. Do not know for sure,
- 24:44Speaker 1: but certainly that is something that is possible, which means
- 24:47Speaker 1: for the Washington Commanders, Taylor Heineke likely steps in there
- 24:51Speaker 1: at starting quarterback. You know, it has been a struggle offensively,
- 24:54Speaker 1: does seem like there's some opportunities, So perhaps Taylor Heineke
- 24:58Speaker 1: really has thrived in the system of Scott Turner will
- 25:02Speaker 1: have some opportunities. Now we'll see if the Washington Commanders
- 25:04Speaker 1: contender or fourth time in seven years for Carson Wentz.
- 25:07Speaker 1: He's gonna miss some significant time here. And when you
- 25:09Speaker 1: see the high five on a follow through, whether it's
- 25:11Speaker 1: Drew Brees or Russell Wilson or in this case Carson Wentz,
- 25:15Speaker 1: never a good thing finished the game. However, last week
- 25:19Speaker 1: a Commander's Victory. NFL Now is a production of the
