- 1:00We call this the NFL Whip Around.
- 1:06Whip, whip, whip around. All right, guys, let's go.
- 1:13No whip. Around Carol, I wanted this to
- 1:16really kind of focus in on a couple of things that the Miami
- 1:21Dolphins did. So let's actually start with the
- 1:25first. Big deal is they traded for
- 1:28Jalen, traded Jalen Waddle away to the Denver Broncos.
- 1:32They got a first and a third, but had to swap fourths for a
- 1:36high-priced receiver. Again, they're selling everybody
- 1:40away. But now Sean Payton gets to put
- 1:43Jalen Waddle, who's had some back issues and hamstring stuff
- 1:46over the years. Nothing major across from
- 1:49Cortland Sutton. And that's not a bad kind of
- 1:52tandem right there for Bo Nicks. I don't know what Miami is
- 1:57doing, but to me, the AFC is going to be going through the
- 2:01Broncos. Now you have Waddle and Courtin
- 2:05Sutton, and if a healthy bow Nicks with that defense and that
- 2:09offensive line, one of the best offensive lines in football and
- 2:12probably you could argue one of the great coaches, one of the
- 2:15top three coaches in all of the NFL.
- 2:18The weakness was their wide receivers.
- 2:21And now you add one of the fastest wide receivers on your
- 2:23roster. It is a slam dunk for the
- 2:26Broncos. And guess what?
- 2:27Guess who's paying most of that salary?
- 2:30It's not the Broncos, it's Miami.
- 2:32So Miami got a first and a third.
- 2:35Great for them. I mean, it helps them and
- 2:38they're probably sucking for Arch because that's what they're
- 2:41doing. They want to bring in a name
- 2:43that fans are going to want to watch year in a year.
- 2:45And I don't know if the Mannings are going to allow that to
- 2:47happen, but nevertheless, that's what I believe they're doing
- 2:50because that's what the ownership it wants to happen.
- 2:53But this is to me, I, I thought it was going to be Buffalo.
- 2:57Now it's going to go through the Broncos and they're by far are
- 3:00the best team in their division. I don't think you could argue
- 3:02that Kansas City has not done enough to tell me that they have
- 3:06enough to beat this Broncos defense.
- 3:08Now, and you look at a team that didn't have a separator.
- 3:11The Bills were the same kind of thing.
- 3:12They traded for DJ Moore. They didn't have a guy that
- 3:14could separate the Broncos with that same kind of thing.
- 3:16And I remember last offseason you were arguing with our boy
- 3:19Lance Sanderson about the Broncos should have traded for T
- 3:21Higgins when they have the chat. And who do you like?
- 3:24Pat Prize. I'm aware.
- 3:25Where is he? 3rd or 4th on their depth.
- 3:28Chart no 5th on their depth chart now.
- 3:30Yeah, and. That's why he's.
- 3:32Never going to play. That's why they I can't wait to
- 3:35get Sanderson back on this. Show, I'm sure he'll be excited
- 3:38about this trade, though. They get somebody.
- 3:39Yeah, he's going to. He's probably coming in his
- 3:41pants. Be a be a precise route runner
- 3:43for an offense. I definitely need another deep
- 3:45threat to Cortland. Sutton's a good big body
- 3:47possession type guy and now you get somebody that compliments
- 3:50him well in Miami. Yep, this is a part of the whole
- 3:52taking operation. They tried it seven years ago.
- 3:54Take Fortua and you kept Chris Creer as your GM and you see
- 3:57what happens. Let's talk about that Tank
- 4:01Fortua a little bit more in depth.
- 4:04I got these cap figures. So it's a historic number Errol,
- 4:08but let me just give you just ballpark.
- 4:11The salary cap is $301.2 million this year. 175,000,000 is more
- 4:19than half of that number. The Dolphins have about 58 ish
- 4:2557 ish percent of their set of the full league salary cap,
- 4:30which means you don't have to go all the way up to that in dead
- 4:33cap money for this coming year. Here's the guys that they owe it
- 4:36to the dead cap figure for this year. 67.4 million of the 99.2
- 4:43for Tua is for this year. 28.2 for cutting Tyreek Hill, 26.3
- 4:50for trading Jalen Waddle, 20.9 on Jalen Ramsey still, 13
- 4:57million on Minka Fitzpatrick and 10.9 on the recently left
- 5:02departed Bradley Chubb. I don't.
- 5:05That's crazy. I don't know what this team is
- 5:06doing, but obviously the owner is one of the richest owners in
- 5:09professional football. So him throwing away a couple
- 5:12$100 million is really nothing. So to him, it's all about
- 5:18rebuilding because that's what Miami does, that's what The Jets
- 5:21do, that's what the Browns do. And it's it's, it's a laughing
- 5:24stock. It's just absolute a a debacle
- 5:28when you see Jalen Waddle get traded to the Broncos.
- 5:31Yeah, they got something back for him.
- 5:32They got a first and a third and Tyree Kill getting dropped and
- 5:35all these guys are getting dropped to making all that money
- 5:38and he's sitting pretty. Did anybody sign him yet?
- 5:41I don't even think anybody signed him yet.
- 5:43Why? Why does he even want to go
- 5:45anywhere? He doesn't have to.
- 5:46He could sit on his ass for the next year, make his money and
- 5:49don't worry about it. Yeah. 2 is on the Falcons.
- 5:52Oh, he went to the back to another lefty to to be.
- 5:55With that's right, Penex, I remember that I it's not going
- 5:58to work over there because they have two guys that can't stay
- 6:01healthy. So and by the way, that's what
- 6:04that's what Ryan wanted. That's what Ryan said.
- 6:07Well, Penex isn't my God, I don't know.
- 6:08So I'm going to bring it to her. That makes a lot of sense.
- 6:11The only thing that makes sense is he doesn't have to pay that
- 6:13salary. The Miami Dolphins have to pay
- 6:15that salary. That's about the only thing he
- 6:17won on this deal. Yeah, it's interesting because
- 6:19the comparison of the tank for two of her this now with this
- 6:22new movement, the Dolphins were kind of stuck, have been stuck
- 6:25in mediocrity for a while. They're a badly run team for
- 6:27sure, but I don't think they're always seem like they're in that
- 6:305 to 8 win range every year. They're not like the two win
- 6:33team like you see the Browns or the Raiders sometimes, but maybe
- 6:35now they will go and be finalized.
- 6:36They're not going to win one game this.
- 6:38Year they might not, which happened in 2000, 2007, before
- 6:41they could have drafted Matt. Ryan they are not.
- 6:43They are far going to be the worst team in the league.
- 6:46They're going to guarantee book it.
- 6:48If there's any bet right now who is the worst team in the NFL
- 6:53this year, it is my bet Miami won't win one game this year.
- 6:58So they're going to win one game and beat The Jets.
- 7:00No, no, they're not going to win one game.
- 7:03The Jets are going to win both games against them.
- 7:05All right, Dolphins, Owen 17. All right.
- 7:09I feel like they're trying. It's not even officially spring
- 7:12until. Who's your quarterback now?
- 7:14Who's your quarterback? Malik Willis.
- 7:16Malik Willis, I rest my case. The Packers back I rest my was a
- 7:21third round pick a couple of. Years.
- 7:22And they paid him a lot of money too.
- 7:23What a joke. They paid him.
- 7:25They paid him something in the high 20s Speedy I believe.
- 7:28You have 22 a year I believe. They signed up for a three-year
- 7:30deal, right? It was three years.
- 7:32What a. Like 2 years are going to be
- 7:34like paid for us. What a joke.
- 7:36Yeah, so talking about jokes, this, it wasn't a joke to Max
- 7:40Crosby. What happened to him in this
- 7:43deal And he finally let it all out and invented through the
- 7:47media on podcast The Rush with Max Crosby 2 days ago.
- 7:53So he described it as a wild up and down roller coaster.
- 7:56He was livid and confused. He learns how to trade.
- 7:59He told him he's a Baltimore Raven.
- 8:01He was frozen. He flies to DC and then has to
- 8:05drive 2 hours to Baltimore for some reason.
- 8:08Trip. He called weak and then he spent
- 8:10five hours at the Ravens facility for medical text.
- 8:14But the general manager, Eric Dacosta was Mia for those five
- 8:18hours and the energy was weird and blank faced.
- 8:22When they finally met the physical, the Ravens doctors
- 8:26raised red flags about his knee. Crosby thought he's going to
- 8:30have to have another surgery. He contacted his surgeon Neil
- 8:34Doctor Neil Ella Trash who said don't listen to that crap, your
- 8:39knee is great. They just 5 minutes after a
- 8:42Ravens staff were reassured and the deal would get done, his
- 8:45agent called to say they backed out and then he was flown back
- 8:49on a private jet provided by the Ravens arriving after midnight.
- 8:54Despite the ordeal, he woke up at 5:00 in the morning or just
- 8:56on the before 5:00 in the morning the next morning at a
- 8:59Raiders rehab facility saying he's meant to be a Raider, it's
- 9:02in his DNA or their Ravens are just stupid.
- 9:06Here's the facts. Eric Dacosta is a piece of
- 9:08garbage. We all understand that.
- 9:11He's that. That's what he really showed.
- 9:14And why would anybody want to go over there and play for the
- 9:16Raiders, Ravens right now if Eric Dacosta is running that
- 9:19organization? And again, it goes back to Ozzy
- 9:22Newsom, who actually brought him in after he decided to step down
- 9:26and he thought that Eric Dicasa was going to take this team to
- 9:28the next level. And he's done nothing since
- 9:31Ozzie Newsome has stepped down and and this was an absolute
- 9:35debacle because this guy is a superstar player.
- 9:37He's a game changing pass rusher who could stop the run.
- 9:40He could do everything. And you decided to go after Trey
- 9:43Hendrickson because you would rather pay him not give up draft
- 9:46picks. So you're going to go out there
- 9:48and throw this guy under the bus and say that his knees were not
- 9:50healthy. His knee wasn't healthy enough
- 9:52for you to sign him. It it just an absolute pathetic
- 9:56thing to do by an organization. The Ravens are a team now that
- 10:00I'd stay away from if I'm going to, if I am a free agent, I do
- 10:03not want to play for that organization if Eric Decosta is
- 10:06there. It's shameful.
- 10:07I've said it and I'll say it again.
- 10:09I I think Max Crosby is better off just staying with the
- 10:12Raiders right now and seeing what the Raiders are going to do
- 10:16in the draft. Or are they going to move them
- 10:18before the draft to try to get something back for him and send
- 10:21them to an organization that he wants to go to because the
- 10:23Ravens are not the organization he should go to.
- 10:26Now and you're losing a lot of reputation for other players too
- 10:29that want to stay there. And a lot of players that are
- 10:31already in the the organization might be thinking the same
- 10:33thing. If Eric Decosta continues to
- 10:34treat players like this. And for a guy that's AGM, he's a
- 10:39guy that's supposed to be making salary cap and personnel
- 10:42decisions. Not this type of like, we're
- 10:44going to treat you like this. Oh, you would come under these
- 10:46circumstances and you're going to nitpick on everything and
- 10:50turn a Ravens organization that was very well respected into one
- 10:53of the organizations that you, like you said players want to
- 10:55avoid. This is not an organization that
- 10:56has an off field issues either. Have you ever heard the
- 10:59Baltimore Ravens? Ever as an organization you
- 11:03don't want to play for. And now you have Eric Dacosta
- 11:06embarrassing his organization and himself on not giving Max
- 11:12Crosby an opportunity to speak to him one-on-one.
- 11:16When they met each other, they barely could look each other in
- 11:18the eye. Just think about that.
- 11:21How could you trust somebody? You can't even look in the eye.
- 11:24My father always told me when you meet somebody for the first
- 11:27time, you look him straight in the eye and shake his hand,
- 11:29Dacosta probably said. Hey, here's my ass, go kiss it.
- 11:33That's what he said. Maybe it wasn't Harbaugh's fault
- 11:36over there in Raven Land over the years.
- 11:40Doesn't seem like it. So that makes me a little
- 11:42hopeful. Let's talk about some of the
- 11:43moves Harbaugh made before we finish this.
- 11:45They added Darnell Mooney at receiver, another kind of
- 11:49speedster, kind of similar. I was talking to Speedy about it
- 11:52earlier in the week. You know, similar to Sladen, but
- 11:55maybe a little bit better version of Sladen, maybe what
- 11:58they wanted in the 1st place. And then they bring back Jason
- 12:02Pinnock to play safety with a hard hitting safety.
- 12:05And for some reason they started with Evan Neal and now they're
- 12:09bringing back Josh a Zudu. I don't really get it, Speedy.
- 12:13You're going to have to explain that one to me.
- 12:15I'm not explaining anything about a Zedu.
- 12:16I didn't like him when they drafted him, he was reached in
- 12:19the third round. I thought he was like a day
- 12:20three pick use. Never was a good pass blocking
- 12:22guard. I didn't want to bring it back
- 12:23at all by any means. I will say this, I know you
- 12:27Giant fans think that John Harbaugh is going to get you 10
- 12:31wins, nine wins because it comes from the Ravens organization.
- 12:35He's won a Super Bowl and he's a successful coach.
- 12:38When you look at some of the acquisitions they have made this
- 12:40offseason. And I like Darnell Mooney.
- 12:42I think he's a good player. I watched him play for Atlanta.
- 12:45He was very good with Kirk Cousins and he's a good punt
- 12:47returner. You can use him in the punt, the
- 12:49punt return, but none of these moves just excite me if I'm a
- 12:55Giant fan. So I mean sit back and relax and
- 12:59see what they do in the draft, but these are not exciting
- 13:02moves. Pinnock is a versatile defender.
- 13:05He played. Well, I know he was drafted by
- 13:06The Jets. Yes, I know, I know.
- 13:07I our friend on weapons Hot Harrison Glazer I think is they
- 13:11was loved. Pinnock at the time thought he
- 13:12was going to be the next big thing.
- 13:14Yeah. Well, he was wrong about.
- 13:15That yeah, but he was still a good versatile defensive back.
- 13:17Not really set in one role, but I think in play many different
- 13:20things. Mooney, again, his side has
- 13:21always been an issue, but he's a good deep threat.
- 13:23He definitely has better handsome.
- 13:24Slayton does. I mean, what's the prospect
- 13:26they're going to put put him in Robertson's spot and they're
- 13:29going to hold right that he is the blanket for a dart.
- 13:33But I worry for dart because it's all about developing this
- 13:36kid and it to me, I'll go back to it.
- 13:39If you're going to do all this, you bring in Mike McCarthy
- 13:42because that's the guy that finds guys doing the things that
- 13:46he wants him to do in his offense.
- 13:49John Harbaugh, he's more of a special teams defensive guy and
- 13:54he's bringing in guys. He brought in three offensive
- 13:56coordinators to run his offense. It makes no sense.
- 14:00So I I mean, this is beginning to think that or if you're a
- 14:04Giant fan, you're beginning to think that this could be a
- 14:07failure unless he adds talent in this year's draft.
- 14:10And I'm not trusting Joe Shane. I never trust Joe Shane so.
- 14:15Joey Joey bag of doughnuts doesn't inspire confidence.
- 14:18No, when he asked his son who he should draft, yes, I, I, I would
- 14:23be worried. Let's hire that kid.
- 14:25Let's give him a contract. All right, well, that's the whip
- 14:28around. We'll see you guys on it next
- 14:31time. Very interesting with with John
- 14:33Horrible. I know Giant fans are excited
- 14:35and I, I speedy, we were speaking to some people
- 14:37yesterday. I had conversations on the
- 14:39football field that Giant fans were there and they said they
- 14:42love John Horrible. They were, if there's a, if
- 14:45there's a coach that can go in there and take over the locker
- 14:48room like Tom Coughlin did, it's him.
- 14:50And that's why they're excited to have somebody like that, that
- 14:53the players are going to look up to and be able to go to because
- 14:56this guy's been successful in the league.
- 14:58But he's not Jim Harbaugh. I'm sorry, I know he won a Super
- 15:01Bowl against his brother, but Jim Harbaugh has been proven to
- 15:05win everywhere he's gone. John Harbaugh, he's only coached
- 15:09one place and that's what the Ravens.
- 15:11Let's see if he can do it with an organization that hasn't won
- 15:14since 2011 and has been a joke of an organization and now has a
- 15:20an owner that could be losing his spot because he he's hanging
- 15:25out in Epstein Island, You know, So enough said on that.
- 15:28I had to mention that. But Mr. Tisch is a little weird,
- 15:32if you know what I mean. So a little.
- 15:35All right, I hate to say it, but there there was a photo of a
- 15:38young Uncle Stevie with a Mr. Epstein that came out as well,
- 15:42unfortunately interesting recently as well.
- 15:44Very, very interesting. Maybe we should enter.
- 15:47Maybe we should like interview Uncle Stevie.
- 15:51Maybe the Mets have to. If that's the case, maybe they
- 15:53have to go full Dolphins. Just have a bunch of actors by
- 15:55the team at the point. We can hook you up with Uncle
- 15:58Stevie. Oh.
- 15:58God, that's. Not going to.
- 16:01Happen anyways we call this dial it up.
- 16:03This regularly scheduled hot mix to bring an important news.
- 16:06We got a big broadcast to do here.
- 16:08We're about to dial it up. All right, everybody, welcome
- 16:16back to Dial IT Up, everyone's favorite Lightning round sports
- 16:21segment. Here we go right away into it.
- 16:24Errol hasn't seen these yet. Here we go with the first one,
- 16:28John Smoltz's World Baseball Classic commentary.
- 16:32If you were listening to Smoltz, you know he was talking a lot
- 16:36and maybe a little more than he should have.
- 16:38He kind of got into. I have a list of things here
- 16:41that he said during the WBC that were controversial.
- 16:45He got real dark talking about Paul Skeens saying that he was
- 16:48basically bound to have Tommy John.
- 16:51The way that he throws. He's just hoping that he can
- 16:53buck the trend of guys like him. Very strange.
- 16:57He was being very inconsistent with his pitching philosophy.
- 17:01He was saying that, you know, there's the high velocity
- 17:04pitching while simultaneously telling people to work later
- 17:08into games. Then he was saying that he was
- 17:13calling a pitch clock violation and saying he was absolutely
- 17:17inexcusable, you know, but it just happens.
- 17:22He's like, like going crazy about it.
- 17:24He hates modern hitting because everyone's trying to hit the
- 17:27ball high into the air and stinks.
- 17:30And which we already talked about tonight.
- 17:32He also thinks we should do this in the middle of the season, not
- 17:36in the preseason. Errol, A lot of stuff here from
- 17:39John Smoltz, our Hall of Famer. Dial it up.
- 17:43The whole pool schemes thing. You can't bet on pitchers.
- 17:46Now with Tommy Johns, everybody goes to it one way or another in
- 17:51their career, except guys like Max Scherzer.
- 17:53And then he had shoulder problems in the tail end of his
- 17:55career, and Max Scherzer hasn't been the same pitcher.
- 17:58But I don't, I don't argue with a pitcher like a guy like John
- 18:03Smoltz who's been successful, a Hall of Famer.
- 18:06But who knows, maybe he's smoking.
- 18:07Maybe he's drinking before he was doing the broadcast.
- 18:11What I will say is he's absolutely right about the WBC.
- 18:14It should be activated in the middle of the season.
- 18:17Nobody cares about the All Star game.
- 18:19He is right. This is better competition.
- 18:21This will bring more money for the major leagues and ownership
- 18:26and some of these teams. I think it would make more and
- 18:28more sense, more sense every single year, every single three
- 18:32years to do this. Now, as far as all the other
- 18:36stuff that he said, it's just off target on on any of the
- 18:40conversations that you ask John Smoltz in the middle of a
- 18:44broadcast to have and when he's mentioning things that make no
- 18:48sense to the conversation. Yeah.
- 18:50Has she thinking if he's doing something, is he drinking?
- 18:53Is he smoking the ganja, doing something?
- 18:57Because some of the stuff that you're saying, fish, doesn't
- 19:00make any sense in the conversation when you're
- 19:03analyzing the WBC and watching the game.
- 19:07That's my my take on that. Yeah, There's no real set exact
- 19:10formula for how to prevent these soft tissue injuries, these
- 19:13major pitching injuries that we've seen.
- 19:14It's the same kind of thing we talked about with the NBA, like
- 19:17is there low, is there low? Management, sorry to cut you
- 19:20off, but go go talk to Bauer. I think he's figured it out.
- 19:23He's never had any of those problems.
- 19:25Him and his father are scientifically gifted and
- 19:29understanding statistics and understanding the right
- 19:31mathematical equation on now how not to throw any of those balls
- 19:36when you're playing in a in a basketball game.
- 19:38And maybe that I mean, I'm sorry in a baseball.
- 19:39And maybe that's the case. I don't know how many other
- 19:42pitchers have used that kind of thing yet, and we have enough of
- 19:45a sample to judge how this philosophy works versus another
- 19:48one. Obviously, there's certain teams
- 19:49that have gotten more injury issues than others, AKA the
- 19:52Braves, AKA the Reds, like we mentioned earlier that have had
- 19:54more. But still, I don't think there's
- 19:56one exact formula. I mean, yeah, I do worry about
- 19:58it with Skins too, the way he throws.
- 20:00And it definitely is a worrisome guy for.
- 20:02Why are we worrying about that? His arm is healthy.
- 20:06Stop crying about it. Nobody cares.
- 20:09Let's see, we've seen Max Scherzer throw weird his whole
- 20:13career, and this guy for like 14 years was as dominant of of a
- 20:17pitcher than anybody in baseball.
- 20:19He never had arm problems to death until the tail end of his
- 20:22career when he went to the Mets. Of course, when he went to the
- 20:25Mets, his shoulder started to go.
- 20:28AKA the training stops I worry about.
- 20:30Yeah, they put them on the list. Stop bringing up ball schemes.
- 20:33I don't think it's going to make a difference.
- 20:34He's still fairly young. I still think he can.
- 20:37He could pitch another eight or nine years before we even talk
- 20:40about the torque in his arms. I think it's ridiculous.
- 20:43All right, let's head back to the rink, actually, and get to
- 20:49some hockey. And this one is golden.
- 20:53Well, there's a golden goal, but the puck has kind of become a
- 20:59controversial thing, Errol. So Jack Hughes really wants his
- 21:04puck back, which apparently was taken by the Hockey Hall of Fame
- 21:10and demanded it back, kind of interestingly, and then had to
- 21:16backtrack his comments when he got shot down pretty harshly by
- 21:22the International Ice Hockey Federation.
- 21:25So the Hockey Hall of Fame's vice president and curator
- 21:29Philip Pritchard completely rejected him, saying that the
- 21:33puck was never jacks to own and was a legal donation from the
- 21:38International Ice Hockey Federation, who took the puck
- 21:42after the game. Although that's generally not
- 21:46what you know. I don't know, Errol, you played
- 21:48hockey. You're going to get to talk
- 21:49about this in a second. What would happen in this
- 21:51situation? Here's what Hughes said.
- 21:53You know, he wanted to give it to his father, who's a massive
- 21:55collector, obviously a family heirloom that you would want to
- 21:59have. Kind of makes a lot of sense.
- 22:02He thought him and Megan Keller, who scored the golden goal for
- 22:05the women to win their gold medal, should have been able to
- 22:08keep their pucks as opposed to going to some stuffy building,
- 22:12which I couldn't even tell you where it is.
- 22:13I'm assuming somewhere in Canada?
- 22:16Toronto. Yeah, right.
- 22:18Sidney Crosby, you know, had his golden goal go to the Hockey
- 22:23Hall of Fame as well. You know, Hughes has since said
- 22:26that he's pretty. You know, he's happy that it's
- 22:28there and has backtracked his comments.
- 22:31I don't think he's so happy, Errol.
- 22:34Dial it up. I understand why Hughes should
- 22:38be upset. He's the one who scored the
- 22:39goal. And usually when you score a
- 22:42specific goal, if it's your 500th goal or your six hundredth
- 22:45goal or your score your 100th touchdown, Aaron Rodgers scored
- 22:49his 400th touchdown or whatever it was, he got the ball.
- 22:54So if he scores a goal like that, because it's the Olympics
- 22:57and because it was so very important and the United States
- 23:00hasn't won an Olympic gold medal since 46 years ago in Miracle on
- 23:05Ice. They're going to take the
- 23:07they're going to take that puck and and put it at the in
- 23:10Toronto. the United States won. Why is it going to Toronto?
- 23:15It's Canada. We're here in the United States.
- 23:18Why doesn't it go into a a United States home or a United
- 23:21States place where where people can get a chance to see it?
- 23:25Why do you have to go all the way to Toronto to see the golden
- 23:28goal puck? To me, it's despicable.
- 23:32I think obviously if I was Jack Hughes and Jack Hughes did the
- 23:36right thing, he kind of rehashed it and reneged on it and and
- 23:40stepped back and he says, you know what, I'm happy that it's
- 23:42in Toronto, it's in the Hockey Hall of Fame and hopefully one
- 23:45day I'll be in the Hockey Hall of Fame, my jersey will be in
- 23:48the Hockey Hall of Fame with that puck.
- 23:50But if I was Jack Hughes, I wouldn't be happy about it.
- 23:54That's something that I did, that's something that I want to
- 23:57remember. That's something that I did for
- 23:59United States hockey and I would be pissed off.
- 24:03You know in baseball when you hit the record home run, they
- 24:07give you the ball back, right? It's kind of in every sport.
- 24:11In basketball, Kobe Bryant, every time he scored 5050
- 24:16points, he took the ball home and and he's had a couple of 50
- 24:20point games. So if anybody seen Kobe Bryant's
- 24:22base, well, may he rest in peace.
- 24:24But when he did cribs, Kobe Bryant had all his balls that he
- 24:29scored fifty or more points in his basement that he, he had,
- 24:34you know, set up where people can see it and he signed it and
- 24:37he put the score of the game and how many points he scored in the
- 24:40game, how many rebounds. That's something that you want
- 24:43to remember for the rest of your life and and to take something
- 24:46like this away from the kid when he did something that nobody has
- 24:51done in 46 years. For Team USA Hockey to win a
- 24:55gold medal against Team Canada in overtime and you were the guy
- 24:59that got your teeth knocked out in the third period.
- 25:02To me, it's despicable. Why don't they just keep his
- 25:05teeth here? Here's my teeth.
- 25:07Here's my teeth. I'll take the POC.
- 25:09You could put this, I guess they probably did keep the teeth, you
- 25:12know, I don't think they put those back.
- 25:14In I mean I, I think he needs to go and look for his teeth.
- 25:18Fish, I used to think Alex Ovechka is dead.
- 25:20Just have the best job in the world.
- 25:21That one might be Jack Hughes. Yeah.
- 25:24Definitely the most famous tooth fixing job in the most recent
- 25:27memory. But I read the story Errol as
- 25:30the Canadians lost and then stole the puck.
- 25:33That's how I read this. Like it's definitely going back
- 25:36to Canada in their Hall of Fame. I know it was going to be in
- 25:39Canada. This was just like trying to
- 25:40throw some salt in the wound. And of course he should have
- 25:43reacted the way he did. I, I just, I just think it's
- 25:46ridiculous. There's always some kind of
- 25:47technicality and some guy who enforces the rules has to be a
- 25:51douche about it. And I, you know, look, I, I
- 25:55encounter that sometimes in my job.
- 25:58I'm sure you and listeners at home have people they have to
- 26:02deal with in their jobs that are like this too.
- 26:04Jack Hughes got shut down, just like all of us do sometimes.
- 26:07I farted. All right, let's go from.
- 26:11Make her make me jerk. Not to that, but to the hard
- 26:15court where final Who's the cheese?
- 26:18David Fizdale has decided to throw the Knicks completely
- 26:24under the bus for his failed tenure there.
- 26:27He says the Knicks gave him a tanking edict.
- 26:33All right, so here's the story. When he agreed to be on board as
- 26:40head coach of the Knicks, he said on FanDuel TV's running
- 26:43back that he was told that he has the tank and they had to
- 26:49sacrifice wins to stockpile assets and that they were
- 26:53assured of getting Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the
- 26:58offseason. And we're getting assets so that
- 27:01they could get either Zion Williamson or John Morant in the
- 27:05draft. If we remember correctly, that's
- 27:07the year they ended up with RJ Barrett in the draft.
- 27:11Bizdale ended up 21 in 83, trying to be a company man, as
- 27:17he put it, but it damaged his reputation and future employment
- 27:22prospects. He said he would have done it
- 27:24differently again if he had to, instead of cashing in his record
- 27:29for A cause that ultimately didn't work.
- 27:32Out dial it up. Give me a break.
- 27:40Cry me a river. I am not going to cry about what
- 27:44happened to David Fizdale and the fact here is win or lose, he
- 27:49was never going to be the head coach of this team for a
- 27:51significant amount of time. He was never going to win.
- 27:54David Fizdale was just another guy that they leaned on over the
- 27:57years that failed to be a head coach with the New York Knicks.
- 28:00And again, Leon Rose eventually took over this team and he
- 28:05rebuilt the team the way he wanted to.
- 28:07There was no way Leon Rose what he going to keep David Fizdale
- 28:11as his head coach. That's why he hired Tom
- 28:14Thibodeau for for him to cry about it and say that he was
- 28:17being a good team player and that the Knicks just threw away
- 28:21the games just because of assets.
- 28:23It's a crock. It's a crock.
- 28:25And if even if it is true, why are you coming out and crying
- 28:29about it now? Nobody cares.
- 28:31Nobody cares. Knick fans only care about now,
- 28:35not what happened when you were there, you idiot.
- 28:37So I just think it's a a joke, an absolute joke.
- 28:40Yeah, it's NBA coaches. Jobs disappear very easily from
- 28:44other franchises too. It's not just from tanking teams
- 28:48like the Knicks at the time or tanking teams now like the Nets.
- 28:51Obviously with Steve Nash, he hasn't got a coaching job, had
- 28:53coaching job since then. Like it's not all going to come
- 28:56to fruition just because of the team was trying to tank.
- 28:59No NBA coaches get fired. I wouldn't say as much as NHL
- 29:03coaches, but fired where they don't get another coaching job
- 29:05again and you're going to complain?
- 29:07Oh, because the Knicks were trying to take had a
- 29:09directionless future. They finally tried to go young
- 29:12and now you're trying to cry poor and saying that was a
- 29:15reason you lost your job and you haven't gotten under job since.
- 29:17If you're really that good of a coach, if you really had a good
- 29:19reputation in Memphis, why did you lose your job there?
- 29:21Speed. He was never keeping the job.
- 29:23I don't know what he was thinking.
- 29:25What? What is he like?
- 29:26Is this like an imaginary thing? What is he, Peter Pan and he's
- 29:30looking for Captain Hook or fairy dust?
- 29:33There was no way they were keeping that guy there, David.
- 29:37When they hired David Fizdale, my mouth dropped.
- 29:39How many coaches have they brought in year and after year?
- 29:43All these guys and they all fell.
- 29:45Derek Fisher. What a joke.
- 29:47Every time. Every time they brought in a
- 29:50coach, it made you think, do the Knicks actually know what
- 29:53they're doing? And then they finally brought in
- 29:55Leon Rose and Worldwide West and they put an organization
- 29:58together to actually knows what they're doing.
- 30:00And there was no way they were keeping David Fizdale.
- 30:03Even if David Fizdale was winning, they were never keeping
- 30:06David Fizdale. The guys an idiot.
- 30:09Cry me a river. Well, now he's a talking head on
- 30:12podcast too, so. Well, thank you.
- 30:14I'm good to hear. From him, I guess this one last
- 30:16time, let's move on to a broadcasting legend, Bob Costas.
- 30:22But some interesting things to say about baseball.
- 30:25He said that the Major League Baseball should use local
- 30:29announcers for national games. You should be able to hear your
- 30:35local broadcaster instead of having maybe these blank and,
- 30:40you know, not very good national broadcasts with no energy that
- 30:45we all RIP all the time. So here's a couple of quotes
- 30:49from him. He says that the fans
- 30:51connection's important. When people say, especially in
- 30:53baseball, I want to hear my own guys.
- 30:55As soon as they figure out how they should be able to hear
- 30:57their own guys. This is what your team sounds
- 31:00like, and you want to sound that way.
- 31:03And he said that, you know, it feels like a stranger's voice
- 31:06during the most important games of the year, which is usually
- 31:09the games that go national. And then he cited Cleveland's
- 31:12Tom Hamilton, who's, you know, high energy.
- 31:15It's perfect for him and his style, although it would be
- 31:19weird on a national broadcast, you wouldn't put a guy like that
- 31:21national. But if you put a Cleveland game
- 31:24on every once in a while and you get to hear that, or if you're a
- 31:28fan of Cleveland and you get to hear your guy, I bet that would
- 31:31be preferable. It's a very interesting take
- 31:35from a guy who's been in this business for a very long time
- 31:38and is in the Hall of Fame for it.
- 31:40In fact, baseball is experimenting with it a little
- 31:43bit this year where there's going to be some hybrid national
- 31:46local broadcasts. Errol, dial it up.
- 31:50Here's the thing. I I agree with a guy like Bob
- 31:53Costas. This guy has been a successful
- 31:55broadcaster for many, many years.
- 31:58Successful. He's in his 70s now.
- 32:00He's been in the business since he was in his 20s.
- 32:02So I respect what he has to say and I understand what he's
- 32:05saying. Here's the thing.
- 32:07James Dolan complained with the NBA, with the new NBA deal that
- 32:12his team cannot be on MSG for a significant amount of time
- 32:16because the NBA bought the rights to his team.
- 32:19And that's what he was complaining about.
- 32:21And that's where the NBA fined him and and did all the things
- 32:24because he was complaining about it.
- 32:26I own the team and I can't have them on my network.
- 32:29How does that make sense? So I same thing with this.
- 32:33Now you're looking at the broadcast, my team, the Yankees.
- 32:37I want to hear my Yankee guys. I want to hear David Cohen.
- 32:40I want to hear the guys that actually know Yankee baseball.
- 32:44I don't want to hear some Joe Schmo talk about the Yankees
- 32:46when he's never even watched the Yankee game live at Yankee
- 32:49Stadium. I could care less what he says.
- 32:52I want to hear Michael Caine, even though Michael Caine, you
- 32:54know, pisses me off sometimes. I want to hear those guy, those
- 32:58guys, those that makes sense. So I agree do with him.
- 33:02I I think that Bob Costa is making some sense here that if
- 33:06you're going to have them on ESPN, if you're playing on ESPN,
- 33:10get the Yankee broadcasters to be there for ESPN.
- 33:14If you have an Angels game and the Angels broadcasters are on
- 33:19Sunday Night Football. I mean, Sunday Night Baseball on
- 33:23ESPN, then have the Angels announcers run and broadcast it
- 33:27there and it'll be on ESPNI don't want to hear some Joe
- 33:31Schmo that doesn't work with my organization or know the players
- 33:34of my organization. And that's why it's just so such
- 33:37a horrible play by play. The last time I can remember,
- 33:40ESP NS been good was when Aaron Boone and Alex Rodriguez was
- 33:44there. It's been bad.
- 33:46Alex is now working for Fox. Aaron Boone is the manager of
- 33:50the New York Yankees, and it's fallen off, but ESP NS paying
- 33:54everybody, paying the NFL, paying the NBA, paying the
- 33:58hockey, the NHL, and now paying baseball to be on their network.
- 34:02Why? Because it's owned by Disney.
- 34:04That is the problem right now. Buying ratings.
- 34:08That's the problem. Like why try to recreate a show
- 34:11on your own when there's ready made shows for you in local
- 34:15markets that you can just pay for?
- 34:16I mean, Arrow, we talk about it with our show here.
- 34:19You know, we have a ready made show that's excellent.
- 34:22Throw us on a network and we're excellent there too.
- 34:26If you have great play by play broadcasts.
- 34:30Broadcasters like the Mets for example, are constantly rated in
- 34:34the top of baseball with their broadcasts.
- 34:37I'd want to hear them if I'm a Mets fan over anyone else.
- 34:40Every single time I agree. Every single time.
- 34:43I mean Michael Kay, every once in awhile we can use a break
- 34:45from. Who doesn't want to hear
- 34:47Hernandez and Ron Darling? I would rather hear them than
- 34:51any of the garbage that they're going to throw at me.
- 34:53You, you think I want to hear AJ Pierzynski?
- 34:56I mean, I don't want to hear that.
- 34:58John Smoltz. John Smoltz with him drinking or
- 35:01whatever the hell he's doing smoking his cigarette.
- 35:03Bashing the match. Bashing every single team
- 35:05besides the Braves. I mean, that's the problem right
- 35:09now. Bob is right.
- 35:10Bob Costas is right. I don't.
- 35:12Bob Costas works with the Boston Red Sox so he does a lot of
- 35:17their broadcast. So Bob Costas if it is on ESPN
- 35:20or it's on CBS or Fox, I'd rather hear Bob Costas calling a
- 35:24Red Sox game then some Joe Schmo.
- 35:26I've never even. Heard a lot.
- 35:27Who's some goofy guy who because who his father is or his his
- 35:32uncle runs Fox Sports. That's why he's he's the
- 35:35broadcaster. That's why he's the analyst.
- 35:37I don't want to see that anymore.
- 35:38I want to enjoy watching it and listening to the game, not
- 35:42watching some guy say call a striker, call a my ball looks
- 35:46like it's gone but oh, it's caught.
- 35:48Or call or call somebody the dream team.
- 35:50Yeah, it's just something I, I, I don't.
- 35:52Well, that's a whole new thing. Or, or even if it's someone who
- 35:55does screw up things like that, we all know John Sterling
- 35:58screwed up everything for a long time.
- 36:00That's. The great John Sterling and he
- 36:01was getting old and he realized he was getting old he still.
- 36:04Wanted to hear him anyway. He was.
- 36:05Still. Wanted to hear him.
- 36:07He was great. I didn't care he made any
- 36:08mistakes. It's, it's, it's John Sterling,
- 36:11I mean. And I think that's, I think
- 36:12that's the point. If your name's Will, I will
- 36:15Miam. MO will douche whatever the hell
- 36:17his name is, or Donnie be bad or whatever the hell they call
- 36:21these guys. I've never heard some of these
- 36:23guys. These broadcasters, You look at
- 36:25them, they're young, they're idiots, and they don't even know
- 36:28what the hell they're doing. I don't want to hear it, that's
- 36:30all I'm saying. Well, maybe they got all that
- 36:32Twitter followers. Let's go to the last story.
- 36:36I know. Let's go to this last story of
- 36:39Dial It Up and it is a doozy. Have you heard about the viral
- 36:43sensation of 15 beers, one of the hottest selling jerseys of
- 36:49all time? Errol, I don't know if you know
- 36:52about this, no I don't. Reagan Beers is the 64 Center
- 36:57for the Oklahoma Sooners. She's pretty good player. 61 1/2
- 37:02field goal percentage, first in the SEC, 10.4 rebounds, first in
- 37:06the FCC, and leads and points per game.
- 37:10So averaged a double double one of two players this year to do
- 37:13that with over 2 assists. She's a 2000.1000.1000 rebound
- 37:19person, but nobody cares about that Errol.
- 37:22They care that when you look at the back of her jersey, it says
- 37:2615 beers and every college kid in America apparently owns a 15
- 37:32beers jersey in their frat or in their party house.
- 37:36She doesn't drink at all. She's a religious Catholic
- 37:40family, so she finds it really humorous and lucrative.
- 37:44She has started selling merchandise.
- 37:47Some of the things that she's selling currently include here
- 37:53for beers or I'm just here for the beers, shirts and all sorts
- 37:57of stuff. Go get some if you want to be
- 38:01here for the beers. Errol.
- 38:03Any other jerseys that are random like this that you feel
- 38:07like or just must own? Dial it up.
- 38:11First of all, I don't drink, so I'm not going to be wearing a
- 38:14beer's jersey. It it's cool that some of these
- 38:17frat parties and fraternities are going to go out there and
- 38:20buy a beer's jersey. That's cool.
- 38:22It really is. And it's good for her because
- 38:24she's making money and IL companies are going to go to her
- 38:27because she's selling. She's becoming popular on social
- 38:31media. Her likes are going to be up.
- 38:33So it's great for her. So I'm happy for her that she is
- 38:36making money off of her last name.
- 38:38Here's the problem and I'm I'm, I'm speaking the truth.
- 38:41What is this teaching the kids? What is it teaching the kids?
- 38:46That's what I want to know. Oh, go drink 15 beers so you can
- 38:50be like misses beers. I, I, I, I don't, I don't get
- 38:54it. And and that's the problem with
- 38:56professional and college sports. Now, I agree that these players
- 39:00should be making money off their names.
- 39:01I think these kids should advance their wealth in the
- 39:06future for their families. But the way it's going, the way
- 39:09it's going, it's only going to get worse.
- 39:12If my name is Dick, OK, or my last name is Snatch.
- 39:17What does that mean? 06 snatches.
- 39:20You know, what is that going to sell?
- 39:22That's going to sell. Well, Hey, fraternity's going to
- 39:24wear my last name. My last name is Eleanor Snatch.
- 39:28You know, I mean, it's it's ridiculous.
- 39:30That is what is selling because your last name, my last name is
- 39:34Mark. So if if, if I had a skid in
- 39:36front of it, I'm going to wear a skid mark shirt.
- 39:39That's it. 15 skid marks. That's what it's ridiculous.
- 39:44It doesn't matter what your last name is, but I'm happy for the
- 39:47girl. I I'm really happy because she's
- 39:50making money. She probably never could imagine
- 39:52she's made. She's going to make that kind of
- 39:54nil money that she's going to get She's going to get a lot of
- 39:56money. The fact that she's becoming
- 39:59popular on social media because of our jersey sales.
- 40:01So it's great for her. It's just not good to try to
- 40:05sell to the young kids that are out there watching the game and
- 40:09want to be the. The next number 15 and with the
- 40:12last name beers, buying that jersey because hey, I want to
- 40:16get drunk. I want to get wasted.
- 40:18That's the only argument I have with it.
- 40:20It's bad for college sports and it's bad for a brand that is
- 40:24trying to build that Caitlin Clark has really helped build
- 40:28over the last couple of years. Hey, all I'm going to say is
- 40:31that I don't know about you, but I'm looking right now.
- 40:33I'm about to buy myself a jersey.
- 40:35Hey, these these are kind of cool.
- 40:36I kind of like the color design. I mean, I don't have too many
- 40:39basketball jerseys anyway, so why not get some 15 beers?
- 40:43But no, I get, I get it to a certain extent or whatnot.
- 40:46I will say, though, however, certain people have been
- 40:49somewhat more aware of their jersey designs.
- 40:52I feel like here, it's like you said, it's a frat party thing.
- 40:54It's in Oklahoma, it's a party college.
- 40:57You know, even for instance, when Austin Reeves had his
- 40:59jersey, he was #15 no, so, but your students would call him
- 41:02AR15. He realized, wait a minute, I
- 41:04don't like this. You know, I don't like being
- 41:06called this. I don't like they think it's
- 41:08very appropriate or whatnot. So they kind of is it away with
- 41:11it now. They still call them Arkansas,
- 41:12they still call them on #15 or whatnot, but I would say they
- 41:15are somewhat. Are you saying this is an
- 41:18Oklahoma student section problem?
- 41:21No, but I will, I will say, you know, I will say some students
- 41:24are getting a little bit more aware of the situation or
- 41:27whatnot. But right now I'm looking at how
- 41:30to buy myself one that's on lids right now.
- 41:31So hey, I might go and get one on lids.
- 41:35Ridiculous. This is what this kid is doing.
- 41:38He's going to go buy a #15 beers because everybody in the world
- 41:43is doing it because they want to get drunk and wasted.
- 41:46So we got a 20 something year old kid now who is not at that
- 41:52age where you could say, oh, he can't drink, but he's just going
- 41:55to go out because oh, they look nice.
- 41:57Oh, beers. I like to drink beer.
- 42:00Let me go out my go beers. Jersey 15 beers.
- 42:03Yeah, great. I liked your name, Eleanor
- 42:06Snatch. I thought that would be a great
- 42:09known as well. I've never heard that before.
- 42:11That was fantastic. I thought, listen, I, I mean,
- 42:15Eleanor just popped in my head, but think about it.
- 42:18I, I've seen this many, many times in in professional sports.
- 42:22Oh, I like the color scheme. I like the name.
- 42:25Oh, I'm going to wear it. But now these kids, these idiot
- 42:28kids in college, oh, it's got beers or it's got snatch or it's
- 42:32got Dicklis or Michael Dicklis. There it is.
- 42:37I'm going to wear a Michael Dicklis jersey.
- 42:39You know, it's, it's just stupid.
- 42:41I guess it's funny. I guess it's going to sell.
- 42:45There it is. That's pretty good actually.
- 42:49I'm getting run over anyways. Hold on, I'll put Michael
- 42:52Dicklas in the back too. But it doesn't make any sense.
- 42:58I, I, I don't understand why people think that this is
- 43:02something that's going to sell to the public and maybe, well,
- 43:05I, I'm happy for misses beer, Miss beers.
- 43:07I hope she, she makes a living off of these Jersey sales and
- 43:12she gets NIL money. That's something that she's
- 43:14never thought to see. And she is a good basketball
- 43:17play, but nobody cares about a basketball.
- 43:19They care about her jersey sales.
- 43:20They care about her last name. And that is what's sad about
- 43:23this story. It's not about how great of a
- 43:25basketball player is. It's just how great her last
- 43:27name is and how much it could sell for herself.
- 43:31I mean, sell for the fraternity or sell for whoever is buying
- 43:35it. So that's just my opinion to it.
- 43:37I I just don't like it. Thank you to all the Spotify and

- 45:59college players. And he is one of the best.
- 46:00So I'm excited to have him on. I'd love to hear his take on AJ
- 46:05and Peterson and Boozer and where he sees how the NBA is
- 46:10going to look at these guys as the top three prospects coming

- 46:16playing in this tournament and breaking his finger.
