- 0:00Speaker 1: My clothesing remarks.
- 0:01Speaker 2: I was kind of talking about this the other day,
- 0:03Speaker 2: about how social media and internet doesn't promote positivity the
- 0:08Speaker 2: way they do negativity. You want to go viral, man,
- 0:11Speaker 2: make a mistake, you finna go viral, Do something for mankind,
- 0:16Speaker 2: helpful of other people.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Nobody want to hear that. They act like they don't care.
- 0:21Speaker 2: So what I wanted to say to everybody out there was,
- 0:24Speaker 2: let's be a part of the change. Let's everybody that's
- 0:28Speaker 2: listening listening actively participate in changing the way we do this.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Start celebrating people, Start calling up people telling them you
- 0:39Speaker 2: love them, to tell them congratulations, to cheer for to
- 0:44Speaker 2: genuinely ask them how they doing and if you can
- 0:47Speaker 2: help them with how they're doing. Be a real friend
- 0:51Speaker 2: and do it. Be a courageous person and do it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Let's change, let's be let's be an agent of change.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Let's do that. Man, We can start with ourself. It
- 1:03Speaker 2: don't cost you nothing to be kind, It don't cost
- 1:07Speaker 2: you nothing to do the right thing over the bad thing.
- 1:10Speaker 2: It's okay to post positivity on your site. Man, one time,
- 1:16Speaker 2: it really really ticked me off because you don't have
- 1:18Speaker 2: a social media team and one of the team members
- 1:22Speaker 2: had put us something on Facebook that says, name a
- 1:26Speaker 2: comedian that you don't think is funny and why? And
- 1:32Speaker 2: I was just going through my day and one of
- 1:36Speaker 2: my kids called me and said, Dad, that don't sound
- 1:40Speaker 2: like you.
- 1:40Speaker 1: What's happening. I said, what they said on your site.
- 1:44Speaker 2: You're proposing a question to name a comedian that you
- 1:48Speaker 2: don't think is funny and why? I said, I never
- 1:50Speaker 2: said that. She said, Dad, it's on your site. I
- 1:53Speaker 2: called a person up.
- 1:54Speaker 1: To run my site. Man, I talked to him, so cleary,
- 1:56Speaker 1: I say, don't do that.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Don't do that. Comedy is already hard enough. It's a
- 2:03Speaker 2: hard business. What you don't need is somebody like myself
- 2:07Speaker 2: who has had a measure of success at it, and
- 2:10Speaker 2: then on here listing who who ain't funny and why? Man,
- 2:14Speaker 2: you can catch anybody. Every Let me tell you something
- 2:17Speaker 2: about comedy. Everybody had a bad night. Well, let me
- 2:21Speaker 2: tell you something. All of us then had a bad
- 2:25Speaker 2: night where it didn't go that way. And if you
- 2:27Speaker 2: just happened to be there that night mad and then
- 2:31Speaker 2: somebody here just blowing that up.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'll give you a true story about me.
- 2:36Speaker 2: The first night of the Kings of Comedy did not
- 2:38Speaker 2: go well for me. The very first night. It was
- 2:42Speaker 2: in Charlotte, and it just didn't go well for various reasons.
- 2:46Speaker 2: My mom had passed and my HBO special had came
- 2:50Speaker 2: out that Tuesday. Well, we perform in that Saturday, I believe,
- 2:55Speaker 2: So Tuesday the special came out, I was in such
- 2:59Speaker 2: a mental state after my mom had passed that I
- 3:03Speaker 2: didn't even see it. So the Kings of Comedy came out.
- 3:08Speaker 2: None of us knew what The Kings of Comedy was
- 3:10Speaker 2: gonna be, so we just went to Charlotte. We didn't
- 3:13Speaker 2: know it was gonna be sold out. We didn't know
- 3:16Speaker 2: that they was gonna fill up this arena. We didn't
- 3:19Speaker 2: even know that The Kings of Comedy was gonna work.
- 3:22Speaker 2: So I did the set that I had done all
- 3:27Speaker 2: year long, because I hadn't done it in Charlotte, I
- 3:30Speaker 2: did my set that aired on HBO that Tuesday. Everybody
- 3:37Speaker 2: saw that set. People's hell, no do some new jokes.
- 3:43Speaker 2: We heard that already, because you know comedy, you can't
- 3:46Speaker 2: repeat comedy. You can repeat the song, but not coming.
- 3:49Speaker 2: So that first night I had a bad night. One
- 3:52Speaker 2: of the comedians that has a radio show locally in Charlotte,
- 3:56Speaker 2: some dude named asks Him or something like that. I
- 3:59Speaker 2: was on the airport leaving going to Kansas City the
- 4:02Speaker 2: next night. Man, he was on the radio and he
- 4:05Speaker 2: was just dogging me. I'm talking about Man. This dude
- 4:07Speaker 2: was he don't deserve to be a king. I don't
- 4:10Speaker 2: know where this tour come from, how they calling themselves
- 4:12Speaker 2: the Kings of Comedy.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But he was horrible. He didn't have a good show
- 4:16Speaker 1: at all. Man.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I stayed up all night that night because that really
- 4:20Speaker 2: bothered me. And then I realized that I had repeated
- 4:23Speaker 2: the jokes for my special. So I stayed up all
- 4:26Speaker 2: night all day. When we got to Kansas City. We
- 4:29Speaker 2: was performing the next night in Kansas City, I wrote
- 4:32Speaker 2: a brand new show. Not that I had to write
- 4:35Speaker 2: them all. It's just jokes that I didn't use before.
- 4:38Speaker 2: There wasn't on a special. I just put them together
- 4:40Speaker 2: and came up with a new set. Next night, I
- 4:43Speaker 2: got a standing ovation. The Kings of Comedy was born,
- 4:47Speaker 2: and we had sold out two shows, and little we
- 4:49Speaker 2: know how great the Kings of Comedy was gonna be.
- 4:52Speaker 2: But this one dude saw me one time. Man, he
- 4:54Speaker 2: tried to destroy me and it's just crazy, man, how
- 5:00Speaker 2: great the Kings were? Where was all that at? But
- 5:03Speaker 2: that was no social media back then either, So we
- 5:07Speaker 2: was just we was blowing up because we.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Was just them. The Kings was really just.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Them, and we got a lot of credit for a
- 5:16Speaker 2: long time after that and we started blowing up. But
- 5:20Speaker 2: now as you look at it, man, people who did
- 5:22Speaker 2: work didn't live in the King era. They done forgot
- 5:25Speaker 2: about it. They don't even talk about us the right way. Sometimes,
- 5:31Speaker 2: who was them old dudes on there with them old jokes.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I'll just be looking at people sometimes. Let's be an
- 5:39Speaker 2: agent of change. Let's start talking about people in a
- 5:43Speaker 2: positive way. Let me start by saying congratulations to my
