- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: We don't always have a video of our podcast, but
- 0:10Speaker 2: when we have very special guests, we videotape it, especially
- 0:14Speaker 2: guests that look this beautiful.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Kathy and Susan are here.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We're gonna be talking about your new podcast, this big
- 0:19Speaker 2: project called Golden Hour.
- 0:21Speaker 4: We are thrilled we've done. Our first one came out
- 0:25Speaker 4: last week.
- 0:28Speaker 5: And the feedback has been fabulous. So one of the
- 0:32Speaker 5: things that we want to say is more about women
- 0:36Speaker 5: our age and fifty and up not thinking life is over.
- 0:41Speaker 5: There's so much more life. And I always say it's
- 0:44Speaker 5: the best chapter, right Kevy.
- 0:46Speaker 4: I think this is definitely gonna be the best chapter
- 0:49Speaker 4: of our lives. But I think what is gonna make
- 0:51Speaker 4: our podcast a little bit different is we are not
- 0:57Speaker 4: we may look at we're not twenty or thirty somethings.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Definitely we try, we try, but the issues that people
- 1:04Speaker 4: our age face are very different. And I think the
- 1:08Speaker 4: goal is to give people hope and give them encouragement
- 1:11Speaker 4: to change their lives, to live life to the fullest.
- 1:14Speaker 4: And that's really what I think we want to do.
- 1:17Speaker 5: We're encouraging them to write into us so we can
- 1:20Speaker 5: answer some of their questions. Yes, so we had a
- 1:23Speaker 5: few write in last week and Kathy and I on
- 1:26Speaker 5: some of them were on opposite shocker and some of
- 1:30Speaker 5: them we completely totally agree. Absolutely.
- 1:32Speaker 4: But here's one of the things that we did last week.
- 1:35Speaker 4: We had we invited people to send us dms if
- 1:41Speaker 4: they had guys, you know, their grandpap, their next door neighbor, whoever,
- 1:45Speaker 4: to frust updates with. So today we're going to screen
- 1:50Speaker 4: each other. We're going to scree each other states. So
- 1:52Speaker 4: today we're at the airport and I had this great idea.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Let's I mean it is April first I did. We
- 2:00Speaker 4: did this video of us saying that we were in La.
- 2:04Speaker 4: We both had they had done such a great job
- 2:06Speaker 4: of sending god.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Ivy with states waiting for us, so these people are
- 2:10Speaker 5: all excited.
- 2:11Speaker 4: So and then we went through the whole thing about
- 2:13Speaker 4: we were here for dates, it might be the marriage, right,
- 2:16Speaker 4: and then we looked right in the camera.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And said, Aprils, am I the first guy you've seen
- 2:21Speaker 2: since you got to LA.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Then actually talked to Yeah, that's good, You're that's good.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I was the one waiting, Okay, so I want to
- 2:29Speaker 2: break this down in some pieces. Here my first one,
- 2:32Speaker 2: and I'm very curious about gott to know the two
- 2:34Speaker 2: of you, big personalities, incredible people, have a lot of
- 2:39Speaker 2: wisdom to share. Here's the thing that happens because I've
- 2:42Speaker 2: done this for eight years now with my co host, right,
- 2:44Speaker 2: school less please, you're both talkers, right, you both have opinions,
- 2:49Speaker 2: and you can have opinions and good opinions on every
- 2:51Speaker 2: topic that's out there. So as two co hosts, what
- 2:54Speaker 2: makes the two of you able to co host this together?
- 2:58Speaker 2: To learn that kind of dance?
- 3:00Speaker 3: Right, we're still learning.
- 3:01Speaker 4: We're learning, we're learning. You're absolutely right.
- 3:05Speaker 5: We're trying not to interrupt each other, no offense. I
- 3:09Speaker 5: love you, you're my sister.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Interrupt me where there I go.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Kathy's long winded, and sometimes I have to jump in
- 3:16Speaker 5: or I wish there was like a queue or something
- 3:19Speaker 5: that we could do. But we're working on it, we are,
- 3:21Speaker 5: and then I find myself trying to overtalk to get
- 3:24Speaker 5: it all in sure, So.
- 3:25Speaker 3: We're going to work that out, right, it's a dance.
- 3:28Speaker 2: It's a dance, and you figure it out, especially if
- 3:32Speaker 2: you love each other, you care about each other, you
- 3:34Speaker 2: want the podcast to be successful. There are very many
- 3:36Speaker 2: moments when you have to bite your tongue and kind
- 3:38Speaker 2: of say, hey, I'm going to wait here. What ashould
- 3:41Speaker 2: end up doing is we have a sign where I
- 3:43Speaker 2: put my finger up or she puts her finger up. Hey,
- 3:45Speaker 2: I have a point. I have a point. This isn't offensive.
- 3:49Speaker 2: We both get it, and after we do it for
- 3:52Speaker 2: seven years now I can jump in and be like Ashley,
- 3:54Speaker 2: where are you going with this? Or she can jump
- 3:56Speaker 2: in and say, Ben, what are you talking about? But
- 3:58Speaker 2: for a while it was just hey, give me some
- 4:00Speaker 2: space here. I have something I want to say, or
- 4:02Speaker 2: I have two questions in a row here that I
- 4:04Speaker 2: want to ask because I'm trying to get somewhere with this.
- 4:07Speaker 3: You don't overuse it, you don't abuse.
- 4:09Speaker 2: It, but it is helpful, thank you, instead of just
- 4:12Speaker 2: like getting frustrated, because frustration will be a thing, even
- 4:15Speaker 2: when you really love your co host and you're like,
- 4:17Speaker 2: this is going to be great.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Well, I think you hit on it. Ben, Susan and
- 4:21Speaker 4: I think the same on many issues. But then we'll
- 4:26Speaker 4: something will come up and we are on opposite ends
- 4:28Speaker 4: of the table, and you know, I want to say
- 4:30Speaker 4: what I think, and she wants to say what she thinks,
- 4:32Speaker 4: and that's where it takes the learning the dance.
- 4:35Speaker 5: And my fear is I'm going to forget what I
- 4:37Speaker 5: was going to say because I'm listening and paying attention
- 4:39Speaker 5: to what she's saying, and now my thoughts racing. But
- 4:42Speaker 5: it's something that we're new at.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And you'll see my notepad.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So when we record, I have a notepad next to
- 4:48Speaker 2: me and I jot down notes on questions I want
- 4:50Speaker 2: to ask, because you always will forget you. And the
- 4:53Speaker 2: worst thing when you're doing an interview and you have
- 4:55Speaker 2: thirty minutes is when you sit there and you're like,
- 4:58Speaker 2: I forgot what I was going to say, and you're
- 4:59Speaker 2: sitting there like lost in your thought. So I just
- 5:02Speaker 2: take little notes. Here's the thing that I had to
- 5:04Speaker 2: get used to. This is really hard for me. It
- 5:06Speaker 2: probably happened. I mean we've been doing it for eight
- 5:08Speaker 2: years or seven and a half years, so probably only
- 5:11Speaker 2: three years ago I used to this. There are things
- 5:13Speaker 2: in my notepad that I never get to. I have
- 5:15Speaker 2: to be okay, just throwing it in the trash because
- 5:18Speaker 2: the conversation's moved on past that point. Right, we're in
- 5:21Speaker 2: a flow. This is kind of the medium that we
- 5:23Speaker 2: get to do. It moves forward, and if it's moved
- 5:26Speaker 2: forward too.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Much, I'm like, I don't get and the only people
- 5:29Speaker 4: who are gonna know it's you.
- 5:31Speaker 3: It's you.
- 5:32Speaker 4: It's like, you know, it's like writing when I've done
- 5:35Speaker 4: a lot of writing in my life and I think, oh,
- 5:37Speaker 4: that's a great sentence. But sometimes you have to take
- 5:39Speaker 4: it out and the only one that knows it's missing
- 5:41Speaker 4: is me. Same thing.
- 5:43Speaker 2: And here's the other point of podcasting. I've never met
- 5:46Speaker 2: anybody that listens to podcasts because they want to hear
- 5:48Speaker 2: the hosts, especially if you have a guest talk more
- 5:50Speaker 2: than their guests, because they're gonna hear your voice every week. Now,
- 5:53Speaker 2: you just mentioned that you are getting people writing it.
- 5:56Speaker 2: That's something We just started the almost famous podcast about
- 5:59Speaker 2: four months ago.
- 6:00Speaker 3: It's called Almost Good Advice.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I've listened and the reason that we do Almost Good
- 6:06Speaker 2: Advice is because neither neither Ashley nor myself are experts,
- 6:09Speaker 2: but we always have different opinions. We see life on
- 6:13Speaker 2: completely different spectrums for multiple reasons. Right one, you know,
- 6:17Speaker 2: she's a wife and she's a mother. She comes from
- 6:21Speaker 2: the East Coast, right. My faith is very important to me.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I'm from the Midwest, I'm a husband, still newer to it,
- 6:27Speaker 2: right compared to her, I have a dog's he's a handful.
- 6:34Speaker 2: But we never agree really, And that's the beauty of
- 6:38Speaker 2: what happens at some point is you can start to
- 6:41Speaker 2: argue in a way that's like, I don't know if
- 6:43Speaker 2: I'm right or wrong here. So how are the two
- 6:45Speaker 2: of you going to argue passionately with being okay with
- 6:49Speaker 2: being wrong?
- 6:49Speaker 5: Can I answer that?
- 6:50Speaker 4: Knock you?
- 6:51Speaker 5: We agree to disagree one of the things. When we
- 6:55Speaker 5: were looking over those things prior to going on air,
- 6:59Speaker 5: and you had an your reaction was a certain way.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Then when we thought about it and you started easing
- 7:05Speaker 5: up a little, I said, no, stay with your original reaction.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Stay true to yourself.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Oh it's not no matter of me staying true to myself.
- 7:13Speaker 4: When when you start thinking about something, you think, well.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Maybe this may be that you talk yourself out of it.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Well, it's just you.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Something's made sense.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Some things makes sense. But I think sometimes a knee
- 7:25Speaker 4: jerk reaction is not necessarily you know, the best advice, right,
- 7:30Speaker 4: So you have to you have to think about it.
- 7:31Speaker 5: But as you said, we're not professionals. We're giving you
- 7:35Speaker 5: from our life what we've learned in life.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Wait, can I just tell you the best question that
- 7:40Speaker 4: we had so far?
- 7:42Speaker 3: Let's hear your.
- 7:44Speaker 4: So Ben sixty nine year old guy, thirty year old woman, divorced,
- 7:50Speaker 4: living next door with two children. The sixty nine year
- 7:53Speaker 4: old has been invited over for dinner several times. He
- 7:56Speaker 4: kind of wants to lean in and kiss her. He
- 7:57Speaker 4: thinks he's got feelings for her. I'm like, Susan, can
- 8:01Speaker 4: you count from thirty to seventy and do it slowly
- 8:04Speaker 4: because that's how many years apart they are.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Now I'm going to say the story okay, because she's
- 8:09Speaker 5: exactly right. She's divorced with two small kids. He lives
- 8:12Speaker 5: next door. They're very good friends. The children know him.
- 8:15Speaker 5: He goes three times a week for dinner. Okay, but
- 8:19Speaker 5: he is having a feeling that he wants to kiss her. Sure,
- 8:22Speaker 5: she got stuck on the age right pop pop six,
- 8:27Speaker 5: I said, when you lean in to hug her every time,
- 8:31Speaker 5: you'll know you look her in the eyes or communicate.
- 8:35Speaker 3: With so Is. The question was should I kiss her?
- 8:38Speaker 5: But I don't want to ruin the Fhow so it.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Was written from him saying should I kiss her?
- 8:42Speaker 5: Yes?
- 8:43Speaker 2: And let's just give a little tease to your show.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Then your differing opinions were.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Can you count from thirty?
- 8:51Speaker 3: Age differends matters.
- 8:52Speaker 4: You're saying age different matters, And I said, we don't
- 8:56Speaker 4: have all the information. But she's thirty and he's sixty nine,
- 9:01Speaker 4: and she's probably inviting him over because her grandfather is
- 9:04Speaker 4: probably dead, and she feels sorry for him because he's
- 9:08Speaker 4: living like him. She likes his company, his wife. It's
- 9:12Speaker 4: a sympathy dinner, Susan, Your advice three times a week
- 9:15Speaker 4: is not a sympathy dinner.
- 9:16Speaker 5: I said, you can usually tell if you look them
- 9:19Speaker 5: in the eye if they want to reciprocate if not.
- 9:22Speaker 4: When you go to.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Huggard to say, I really want to kiss you, but
- 9:24Speaker 5: if it's going to ruin our friendship, I won't thirty communicate.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I don't care. I'm not telling you they're getting married.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Maybe they want to just have a little affair.
- 9:35Speaker 2: So let me dig into this a little bit here.
- 9:40Speaker 2: So age is an issue to you, Kathy, You you think.
- 9:43Speaker 4: That, like, listen, my son just married a woman. Susan
- 9:47Speaker 4: actually married two weeks ago, and she is ten years
- 9:51Speaker 4: older than my son. She's fabulous. I'll do ten years,
- 9:55Speaker 4: But I think forty years is different generations, it's different culture,
- 10:00Speaker 4: it's different.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Every there's a lot of differences.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Now, Susan, your opinion is if you were thirty, let's
- 10:06Speaker 2: throw back to when you were thirty years old. Oh,
- 10:08Speaker 2: and this happens, right, How would you have wanted this
- 10:12Speaker 2: to be handled same way?
- 10:14Speaker 3: For him to ask you?
- 10:15Speaker 2: Because I feel like as a thirty five year old
- 10:18Speaker 2: that even asking I want to kiss you would you're
- 10:22Speaker 2: already kind of messing up. If it's not right, if
- 10:25Speaker 2: she's not into it, you're already messing up to three
- 10:27Speaker 2: times a week dinner.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Right, So there's maybe another way.
- 10:32Speaker 5: So if I have to think about it and sleep
- 10:34Speaker 5: on it and listen to your opinion and her opinion, yes,
- 10:37Speaker 5: it does make sense. Wait, in my head, it might
- 10:39Speaker 5: have been a little affair or something that they were
- 10:41Speaker 5: going to keep as adults. There's nothing wrong with that
- 10:44Speaker 5: to each his. Oh that's how I felt, and I
- 10:47Speaker 5: don't want to judge.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I know we could probably find some people out there
- 10:51Speaker 2: who have a big age gap. I don't even put
- 10:54Speaker 2: a number to it. They have real love. Yeah, but
- 10:58Speaker 2: they have real love. They have found of companionship, partnership,
- 11:02Speaker 2: and they're making it work together and it's made their
- 11:04Speaker 2: lives better for whatever romantic relationship, you know, whatever the.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Benefits are of that. Never say never, never say never.
- 11:10Speaker 2: So but this is the beauty of this. You guys
- 11:12Speaker 2: are gonna come at it from two different opinions. Now,
- 11:14Speaker 2: one of my final questions for the two of you
- 11:16Speaker 2: when it comes to Golden Hour, you two are sitting down.
- 11:20Speaker 2: You're best known because of your time on The Golden Bachelor.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Can fans of that? Are people that are not fans
- 11:29Speaker 2: of the Golden Bachelor, I've never seen the show? Would
- 11:31Speaker 2: they get anything out of your show?
- 11:34Speaker 4: Absolutely? Absolutely?
- 11:35Speaker 5: Okay, We're more about reaching women of America and sharing
- 11:41Speaker 5: that it's not over. Like we just said, your best
- 11:44Speaker 5: chapter is yet to happen, whether it's a friendship, a
- 11:47Speaker 5: relationship with a man, Ahabby, no matter what it is.
- 11:51Speaker 5: People get stuck sitting on the sofa. I think, and
- 11:54Speaker 5: they're too old. Life is over.
- 11:56Speaker 4: You know.
- 11:56Speaker 5: I'm just gonna sit here and.
- 11:58Speaker 4: I think, I think, I think, Yeah, I think. This
- 12:02Speaker 4: podcast is a jumping off point from the Golden bachelor
- 12:05Speaker 4: and our experiences. But it's not that we have all
- 12:08Speaker 4: the answers. We've lived a lot of years. But that's
- 12:12Speaker 4: our both of our hope that we can talk about
- 12:14Speaker 4: things from our point of view, from where we are
- 12:18Speaker 4: in life, having had children and spouses, dy and divorces,
- 12:22Speaker 4: that will maybe give some insight and help other people
- 12:26Speaker 4: find more meaning and purpose and enjoyment in their lives
- 12:30Speaker 4: at this stage.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Also, many, many people from California to Saint Martin come
- 12:38Speaker 5: up to us and share their stories. We've brought something
- 12:42Speaker 5: out of them and they're teering up with us. We're
- 12:45Speaker 5: cheering with them, sharing how we made them feel, how
- 12:48Speaker 5: we made them think more positive. That's what it's about.
- 12:52Speaker 4: And we're not I think you know, I think people
- 12:55Speaker 4: our age have felt invisible, and that's our goal. Is
- 13:00Speaker 4: one of our goals to not make people our age,
- 13:03Speaker 4: you know, let's call it over sixty, not feel invisible anymore.
- 13:07Speaker 4: We have a lot to say, We have a lot
- 13:09Speaker 4: of life to live, and a lot of love to give.
- 13:12Speaker 5: And a lot of fun.
- 13:22Speaker 6: Misspelling is a new podcast from Tory Spelling, who is
- 13:26Speaker 6: the real woman behind the notorious Tory Spelling Headlines is
- 13:30Speaker 6: the mother of five living in a Beverly Hills manor
- 13:32Speaker 6: or in an RV. Is she Donna Martin or is
- 13:35Speaker 6: she a down and out divorcee for someone who grew
- 13:38Speaker 6: up with Hollywood, mogul, air and spelling. Was she Daddy's
- 13:41Speaker 6: little girl or is she her father's daughter? In a
- 13:44Speaker 6: town where the lines are blurred, It's finally time to
- 13:47Speaker 6: clear the air with the misunderstood Misspelling.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Follow tory.
- 13:51Speaker 6: If she confronts the missteps, the mistakes, and the misconceptions,
- 13:55Speaker 6: Misspelling is ready to reveal what's real and what's fake
- 13:58Speaker 6: as she strips down her Hollywood persona. If you think
- 14:01Speaker 6: the rumors are shocking, just wait until you hear the truth.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Because when a woman has nothing to lose, she has
- 14:07Speaker 6: everything to gain. Listen to Misspellings starting April first on
- 14:11Speaker 6: the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Podcasts in a similar vein here. When somebody starts a
- 14:21Speaker 2: new project, the question I always end our conversations with is,
- 14:26Speaker 2: if you have one person and you're gonna have a
- 14:30Speaker 2: group of people, many people that listen, what do you
- 14:33Speaker 2: just hope they take from it? Like, when they're done
- 14:36Speaker 2: listening to you, if there's just like one clear sentence,
- 14:39Speaker 2: one couple words here, what do you hope they feel?
- 14:43Speaker 4: I hope they feel that their day is better and
- 14:47Speaker 4: they got some kernel of encouragement and happiness out of
- 14:50Speaker 4: listening to.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Us, feel better about themselves. Yeah, and realize they're not invisible.
- 14:56Speaker 2: So you can listen to the Golden Hour podcast with
- 14:59Speaker 2: Kathy and Susan. Uh, We're anywhere you can listen to podcast.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I'm assuming you do.
- 15:03Speaker 5: Have to go on Bachelor Happy Hour to find us.
- 15:06Speaker 2: So you're in Bachelor Happy Hour thread. So you go
- 15:08Speaker 2: to Bachelor hop air, you can find the Golden Hour podcast.

- 15:30Speaker 4: Also, can I just can I just plug unmercifully?
- 15:34Speaker 3: Yeah? Anything?
- 15:35Speaker 4: If you have that special grandfather, father, guy next door,
- 15:40Speaker 4: next door, please send them our away. We'll fight over them.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Well, my final question for the two of you is
- 15:46Speaker 2: going to be have you dated since the show we're shaking?
- 15:51Speaker 6: I did?
- 15:51Speaker 5: I did have one? Yeah?
- 15:52Speaker 4: Okay, you win yeah, good.
- 15:55Speaker 5: I met him and now he's a nice man.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Can I try? It's like for Susan. Yeah, when Susan
- 16:01Speaker 4: says he's a man, he might be listening. You're a
- 16:06Speaker 4: nice man.
- 16:07Speaker 5: He is a nice man, and I still talk to him.
- 16:09Speaker 3: That's great. We met Marshall's hey. I mean, that's your
- 16:14Speaker 3: modern day love story. Shop for aprons and he was
- 16:16Speaker 3: looking for socks.
- 16:19Speaker 2: The two of you are great. I can't wait to
- 16:21Speaker 2: listen fan of the two of you. You're gonna be
- 16:23Speaker 2: great together. This is going to be an amazing dance.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I can't wait to see the evolution of the show
- 16:28Speaker 2: and the two of you as hosts. It's gonna be fantastic.
