- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Do you feel like you can't get your focus back?
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Do you feel short-tempered and irritable?
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: You know, whenever we feel this way, the first conclusion that we usually jump to is that we've got writers block or that we're just not creative.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: But the problem could actually be a lot simpler than that, which is maybe you're just tired.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: When your body doesn't get enough sleep, you get irritable and your brain doesn't function as well.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Your judgment is compromised and you're not as focused, disciplined, or creative.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: So maybe you need to do the very same thing that preschoolers do whenever they get cranky, which is they take a nap.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Now a lot of people assume that taking a nap is lazy or it's just something that kids do, but many of history's greatest leaders and creative minds were famous nappers.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: John F.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Kennedy, Leonardo da Vinci, Margaret Thatcher, Winston Churchill, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan were all known to take regular naps.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And these leaders realized that they needed to be well rested and alert to function at their best.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Me personally, I take a nap almost every single day.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: I lean back in my office chair, I put a small towel over my eyes to block out the light, and I set an alarm for 10 or 15 minutes later, then I sail off to Dreamland.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Now, the truth is that I don't always fall totally asleep whenever I take a nap.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I just go off kind of in a very relaxed and rested state, but I'm conscious the whole time.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: So even if you don't fall all the way asleep when you take a nap, you're still going to benefit from taking a break and resting your body, your mind, and your spirit.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: The comedian Ben Stein said, Sleep more at night.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: If it's allowed at work or home, take a nap in the afternoon.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: You'll be amazed at how much better you'll feel.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Well, those are true words for sure.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: So if you're feeling tired, don't feel guilty about taking a nap because it's actually one of the most productive things you can do.
