- 0:06Speaker 2: No catch, just use their coffee cards.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Welcome to the Biggest Show.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Is our biggest shot, biggest, biggest speak the show with
- 0:16Speaker 2: just nice.
- 0:16Speaker 4: Love, I'll kill your mad Bartard's great Yeah for your company.
- 0:22Speaker 4: This Friday afternoon, it is the twenty third of August
- 0:26Speaker 4: twenty twenty four, and you, my friends, as always, are
- 0:28Speaker 4: listening to the Big Show brought you by Night Day
- 0:38Speaker 4: and we're live from beer Farna in magnificent Wellington City
- 0:42Speaker 4: and Mogi, it's your hometown.
- 0:44Speaker 5: How good, my friend? How good to be back.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It's pretty amazing to be It's not my hometown, Levin's
- 0:50Speaker 1: my hometown. I've spent a lot of time in Wellington
- 0:53Speaker 1: almost twenty years and can I just say I love
- 0:56Speaker 1: the place. But we came in today and reminded of
- 1:00Speaker 1: why I moved. Sure, I'll be honest with you. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 1: I'll tell you what.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Casy, You've got a bit of an ear rate because of.
- 1:07Speaker 4: The gale that you had to walk through. You're going
- 1:09Speaker 4: to be your adenoid's going to be okay?
- 1:11Speaker 5: Is it? Is it all cool? Jace?
- 1:14Speaker 1: You know I had.
- 1:14Speaker 6: My adenoids are annoyed, ye yeah, yeah, and adenoids are
- 1:18Speaker 6: in my nose not gone now, my ears are cold
- 1:21Speaker 6: and genuinely we're gonna get into this soon. That was
- 1:24Speaker 6: the hardest wind I've ever walked it. I had to walk.
- 1:27Speaker 6: We all did. We're all working on an angle against
- 1:29Speaker 6: the wind. Seen that in the movies and on Telly,
- 1:31Speaker 6: but to actually have to do it it was brilliant.
- 1:33Speaker 1: It was a pretty standard Wellington Zephyr, just a light
- 1:36Speaker 1: breeze they call that down these ways. No, biggie, what's
- 1:39Speaker 1: so we ever in the I mean you look around,
- 1:41Speaker 1: here's people in shorts, t shirts, not bothered at all.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And that was about one hundred k it.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Was Can I just say, though there was you know,
- 1:47Speaker 6: gale force winds outside, that wasn't the biggest debarcle in
- 1:51Speaker 6: terms of stuff being blown over. We were just what
- 1:54Speaker 6: three minutes ago, about to go on air when a
- 1:57Speaker 6: bloke what sixty he leant up against the sign here
- 2:02Speaker 6: and against the speaker and toppled over the backbone sign,
- 2:05Speaker 6: the PA system and three of the benches in front
- 2:07Speaker 6: of it.
- 2:08Speaker 5: It was absolute chaos.
- 2:09Speaker 6: It was chaos, and Jason rushed to his aid pugs
- 2:12Speaker 6: did as well as glasses fell off.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It was an absolute debar. I'm only upset that I
- 2:16Speaker 1: missed it.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yeah, he literally keeled over.
- 2:21Speaker 5: I'll tell you what with regards.
- 2:23Speaker 4: This is where it's an advantage being only three foot eight,
- 2:26Speaker 4: you know what I mean, and powerfully built like I am.
- 2:30Speaker 4: The breeze doesn't get to here so much. But as always,
- 2:32Speaker 4: i'll tell you, the first session has come to an
- 2:35Speaker 4: end and it looks like it's going great guns. I
- 2:38Speaker 4: believe it sort of sold out, but there may be
- 2:40Speaker 4: a few tickets for a few of the sessions still,
- 2:43Speaker 4: so if you want to come on down, make sure
- 2:45Speaker 4: you do. It's always about a big showy head, the
- 2:47Speaker 4: Friday Throbber, and because it's a Friday, Friday shoutouts too. Yeah,
- 2:53Speaker 4: three four eight three, and let's get into the first
- 2:57Speaker 4: tune of the day.
- 2:57Speaker 5: A bit of.
- 2:58Speaker 6: Gorillas, actually the guerrillas, it's now the Black Keys.
- 3:02Speaker 5: When did that happens?
- 3:03Speaker 1: That's humiliating God.
- 3:07Speaker 2: The Wholearchy Big Shows with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Keisy It is there on the radio Honarchy Big Show
- 3:15Speaker 4: Live from beer, Varna and Wellington, and interestingly it's just
- 3:20Speaker 4: cleared out as the show starts. It was absolutely pumping
- 3:24Speaker 4: earlier as we arrived Fellers, it.
- 3:27Speaker 6: Was crazy alright, And so the way it works as
- 3:29Speaker 6: we arrived, the first session sort of ends.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yes, they are ushered out, and then.
- 3:34Speaker 6: A completely fresh set of people arrived for the afternoon session.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and they get to enjoy the big show. Remember
- 3:39Speaker 1: tween times, the brewery folk here, they get a chance
- 3:43Speaker 1: to reset and there'll be a massive cleaning session that's
- 3:47Speaker 1: going to have to take place. I can see very
- 3:50Speaker 1: deep puddles of beer scattered all around the place, and
- 3:53Speaker 1: if I remember from last time, they had trucks coming
- 3:55Speaker 1: around to clean it all up. It'll be spotless at
- 3:57Speaker 1: no time.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 5: It's a sort of.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Thing whereby you know, you probably don't have to buy
- 4:01Speaker 4: a beer. You could just go and suck up all
- 4:02Speaker 4: the puddles on the ground there and be tickety boo.
- 4:05Speaker 4: We had a bit of drama too, just before the
- 4:08Speaker 4: start of the show, with someone keeling over into our
- 4:10Speaker 4: sign and knocking over our speakers and all our seating,
- 4:15Speaker 4: which was quite drumantic, wasn't it.
- 4:17Speaker 6: Two kigs went flying so well, but he seemed totally
- 4:19Speaker 6: unfazed and just sort of he didn't understand why we're
- 4:22Speaker 6: making a big fuss out of the thousands of dollars
- 4:24Speaker 6: with the damage you've done. But fellas, it is tradition
- 4:27Speaker 6: when we're on the road to start the show with
- 4:28Speaker 6: a big pulse.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Should we do that?
- 4:29Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do that. Yes, indeed, it's a very simple
- 4:41Speaker 4: big pole today. Actually, Wellington, yes or no?
- 4:45Speaker 6: What's your vibe on this mike, because you obviously spent
- 4:47Speaker 6: a lot of time down here in Wellington, right, Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm a hard Wellington yes, sir, full support for Wellington,
- 4:54Speaker 1: great people, great city. And it's actually it's been a
- 4:58Speaker 1: while since I've been down here. I have to say.
- 5:00Speaker 1: The seven thousand job cuts that have come from the
- 5:03Speaker 1: new government have done wonders for the place. It's cleared
- 5:05Speaker 1: it right out, sure, and it's only the strongest sort
- 5:09Speaker 1: of restaurants and bars and shops that have survived. Now
- 5:12Speaker 1: you don't have this section that you used to, but
- 5:14Speaker 1: now you know which ones are the good ones because
- 5:15Speaker 1: the other ones are closed down.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Of course you've got the beautiful harbor out there. You
- 5:21Speaker 1: can't beat that for a swim if you're into ice plunges,
- 5:24Speaker 1: and of course the wind there, which could either be southerly,
- 5:28Speaker 1: northerly or nor westerly, really takes the skin off your
- 5:33Speaker 1: face as well, so keep you really well. It's foliated
- 5:35Speaker 1: and everybody looking super super young and attractive, if a
- 5:39Speaker 1: little gray due to the lack of wind. Are some
- 5:41Speaker 1: so sure?
- 5:42Speaker 4: Look, I want to have a word against it Wellington.
- 5:44Speaker 4: I'm a big fan. I find, you know, the wind
- 5:47Speaker 4: and the rain and the disgusting weather very enlivening. There's
- 5:52Speaker 4: nothing like coming out of your warm hotel room into
- 5:54Speaker 4: a Wellington blizzard. And what I love about Wellington too
- 5:59Speaker 4: is the fact that all the buildings in the inner
- 6:02Speaker 4: city here really match the sort of gray, sort of
- 6:05Speaker 4: dismal weather that's going on, and it creates a real atmosphere,
- 6:10Speaker 4: you know, and you get your people on the street
- 6:11Speaker 4: you just yelling and screaming randomly at you as well.
- 6:14Speaker 5: I won't have a word against it.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Can I just I thought usually where it's sort of
- 6:18Speaker 6: have contrasting opinions here on the show, but for once
- 6:20Speaker 6: we're all in agreeance. The thing, like, one of the
- 6:23Speaker 6: things I don't like about living an awkward is you
- 6:24Speaker 6: don't know what you're going to get weatherwise, you know
- 6:27Speaker 6: it might start sunny, then it'll be cloudy, and then
- 6:29Speaker 6: it'll be windy and then sunny again, Whereas at Wellington,
- 6:32Speaker 6: you know it's going to be windy and raining and
- 6:34Speaker 6: freezing and.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You just know what to wear.
- 6:37Speaker 6: You wake up every day you say, I'm wearing a thermal,
- 6:39Speaker 6: I'm wearing a rain jacket, I'm wearing a puffer jacket,
- 6:42Speaker 6: and you just you can fully prepare every single day,
- 6:44Speaker 6: which I love about Wellington.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, i'd agree with that. Yeah, it is. It's nice
- 6:48Speaker 1: to know where you're standing with Wellington. And she's like,
- 6:49Speaker 1: can I say, Jay's it's not for everyone. Wellington is
- 6:53Speaker 1: a harsh mistress, she is, ah, but you can't beat
- 6:56Speaker 1: her on a good day. She's a generous lover as well,
- 6:59Speaker 1: so very generous. It's very generous.
- 7:00Speaker 4: But we want you to have your say in New
- 7:02Speaker 4: Zealand on three four eight three and go on the
- 7:05Speaker 4: Instagram as well.
- 7:06Speaker 6: And it doesn't it that's right our Instagram story the
- 7:08Speaker 6: big poll today Wellington Yes or no? Pretty simple, have
- 7:12Speaker 6: your say and if you text us on three four
- 7:14Speaker 6: eight three, we'll send a talk back on the Heart
- 7:17Speaker 6: radio app.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You go and draw for a fifty long night Day about.
- 7:19Speaker 5: You great stuff.
- 7:19Speaker 4: I keep those shout outs coming too on three four
- 7:22Speaker 4: eight three. In the meantime, here's a bit of simple.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Mind the Hdarchy Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue
- 7:29Speaker 2: and Kisy with.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Indeed Deftones there on the radio Hoedarchy Big Show this
- 7:34Speaker 4: Friday afternoon June.
- 7:35Speaker 1: That is a church Jana.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Where am I from Beervana?
- 7:39Speaker 4: The b Festival down here in Wellington and as you
- 7:42Speaker 4: can imagine, there's a veritable plethora a smaga's board of
- 7:46Speaker 4: bears's and breweries down here. And we've got our first
- 7:50Speaker 4: guest of the day, Ollie from Sudden Death, Gooday Maytales Life.
- 7:54Speaker 7: That's pretty cool.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Yeah, tell me, is this the first time you've been
- 7:57Speaker 4: down that you guys have been here or.
- 8:00Speaker 8: Yeah, I've been in Australia a couple of years ago,
- 8:03Speaker 8: years like work in travel like every German.
- 8:06Speaker 7: Yeah, but it's my first time in New Zealand.
- 8:08Speaker 3: It's it's amazing.
- 8:10Speaker 1: How's Wellington streamed it all?
- 8:16Speaker 4: So tell us about Sudden Day thing winning an all start?
- 8:18Speaker 4: What was the idea behind him?
- 8:20Speaker 7: The idea of me and my brother in law. We've
- 8:23Speaker 7: been to Boston in twenty thirteen, and.
- 8:27Speaker 8: We're big hockey guys, we're big Boston Bruins fans. And
- 8:30Speaker 8: then back then that crappy was not really existing in Germany.
- 8:34Speaker 8: So we got there and then on that very day,
- 8:36Speaker 8: like first game day, we played Montreal, I guess we
- 8:39Speaker 8: had nothing to do with. So we visited a brewery
- 8:43Speaker 8: called Samuel Adams and so yeah, yeah, yeah, Jesus Christ.
- 8:49Speaker 8: They claiming that like the oldest craft brought, like the
- 8:51Speaker 8: oldest brey in in America, and it's like they've been
- 8:55Speaker 8: there for like thirty years.
- 8:57Speaker 7: Thank you com from Germany.
- 8:58Speaker 4: You know.
- 8:59Speaker 8: Yeah again, like we we tried our first r pas
- 9:03Speaker 8: and we got hooked right away, and then we started
- 9:05Speaker 8: homebrewing and all that stuff like that. And then yeah,
- 9:08Speaker 8: at some point we started the brewery in Gypsies for
- 9:10Speaker 8: like five years, and then two years ago we started
- 9:15Speaker 8: ombrey in Lubec, which is a closer hammrick in Germany. Right,
- 9:18Speaker 8: we get a twenty heck kit and uh yeah, now
- 9:22Speaker 8: we're here.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Sudden death man taught me through there.
- 9:27Speaker 8: That's how you play the overtime in hockey, right, Soccer,
- 9:31Speaker 8: it's called Golden Gold, which is a little bit like.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Week there would have been a great name for your brewery. Man,
- 9:37Speaker 1: you strike me as golden gold sort of a fella.
- 9:42Speaker 7: As a homebrewer. You want, you want to, you want to,
- 9:43Speaker 7: you want how to do?
- 9:44Speaker 5: Your name?
- 9:44Speaker 7: And sudden death sounded so cool.
- 9:46Speaker 4: So how's the business been going for you know, because
- 9:49Speaker 4: a lot of people are getting into this business?
- 9:51Speaker 5: Now has it been?
- 9:52Speaker 4: You know, we've we've spoken to a lot of brewers
- 9:54Speaker 4: around New Zealand and stuff.
- 9:55Speaker 5: It's been some tough times. How's it been for you?
- 9:58Speaker 8: I think it's it's all around the a little bits
- 10:00Speaker 8: of tough times right now. And even German, the German
- 10:03Speaker 8: craft you're seen, even though it's not that big. There
- 10:05Speaker 8: were a lot of berries popping up. And it's the
- 10:08Speaker 8: market is, like you say it, like it's saturated. The
- 10:14Speaker 8: go ones will stick and the yeah not the ones
- 10:16Speaker 8: will go. But that's everyone's like, everyone's a little bit scared.
- 10:19Speaker 8: But I think that's a normal way how business goes. Yeah,
- 10:23Speaker 8: if you're good, you will stick.
- 10:24Speaker 7: If you're not good, you'll be gone.
- 10:26Speaker 6: So you've come, like, how did you land in New
- 10:29Speaker 6: Zealand making beer here?
- 10:30Speaker 1: What?
- 10:31Speaker 5: What? Man?
- 10:31Speaker 1: You decided to come and do? It here.
- 10:32Speaker 8: I woke up that one morning and I got an
- 10:34Speaker 8: email from a guy named Ryan. Right, yeah, nice to
- 10:39Speaker 8: by the way, And I thought it's fake, Like they
- 10:41Speaker 8: were like, yeah, we fly you in New Zealand and
- 10:44Speaker 8: you pour here at the BFS and we pay for everything.
- 10:47Speaker 8: Like okay, cool, this sounds amazing, too good to be true.
- 10:52Speaker 7: Now I'm here, so it wasn't wasn't fake?
- 10:56Speaker 1: Excellent?
- 10:56Speaker 6: So did you just come with a whole lot of
- 10:58Speaker 6: you know, kigs check them on the overhead lost.
- 11:00Speaker 8: Yeah, thanks to DUSA, we we were able to get
- 11:04Speaker 8: some kex here via airplane.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Oh workers. So it's super fresh fresh beers.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Yeah, that's like you'll have two weeks some of that.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I'm actually really surprised to hear, you know, because you know,
- 11:16Speaker 4: Germany quite famous for its beers, that the craft beer
- 11:20Speaker 4: has hasn't really sort of you know, been a big
- 11:22Speaker 4: thing over there.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 8: But because like our history with beers is like we
- 11:26Speaker 8: have so much like the regular stuff like pills and us.
- 11:30Speaker 7: We're big heritage with beers over there. So of course
- 11:33Speaker 7: craftier is not.
- 11:34Speaker 8: It's not getting that big, like Kraftier is only getting
- 11:37Speaker 8: big in countries where the regular beers are not really good. Yeah,
- 11:40Speaker 8: so everyone's like in the crafty industry is kind of
- 11:43Speaker 8: bashing uh.
- 11:45Speaker 7: Macro Lugus in Germany.
- 11:46Speaker 8: I don't think that's the way to do because if you,
- 11:48Speaker 8: if you, if you go anywhere else, like in the world,
- 11:51Speaker 8: German macrol august is still the best, yeah, right right,
- 11:54Speaker 8: So yeah, why would people go anywhere else if your
- 11:59Speaker 8: macro it's brilliant? Yeah, compared like Dow the u s
- 12:02Speaker 8: where you just drink like like beers, of course people
- 12:05Speaker 8: go for.
- 12:08Speaker 6: So we've got Olli from Sudden Death here all the
- 12:10Speaker 6: way from Germany, Olli here in New Zealand. We have
- 12:13Speaker 6: a saying you know, you're a backbone, salt of the earth.
- 12:18Speaker 6: Is it like a German version of that, Like you're
- 12:19Speaker 6: the backbone of this country.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Somebody who's a good person, a solid person, good.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Something like you.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Is there a saying for that in Germany? You guys
- 12:29Speaker 1: have got so many incredible sayings that I don't know, backbone,
- 12:33Speaker 1: How do you say backbone in German? It sounds well,
- 12:42Speaker 1: as I always say, Man, German is absolutely the language
- 12:45Speaker 1: of love. And that was just beauty.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Yeah, it was from thanks, thank you for having me yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 5: thanks for coming down.
- 12:53Speaker 6: Thank you stuff and if you're in the area, you're
- 12:54Speaker 6: coming down to be a vanner. I can't wait to
- 12:56Speaker 6: see you.
- 12:56Speaker 5: So beautiful.
- 12:58Speaker 2: The whole Key Big Show weekdays from four on Radio Haidarky.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Is indeed smashing pumpkins there on the Radio Hodaki Big
- 13:06Speaker 4: Show this Friday afternoon night from Beavanna and Wellington and
- 13:12Speaker 4: completely empty stadium at the moment, as you can probably
- 13:15Speaker 4: tell from the echo fee.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yet she's pretty echo and this bastard here bloody beautiful.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Got any shoutouts for us Keezy on shout out Friday? Sorry, yeah, thanks, Mogi.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Can I get a frawd out to Horse down in
- 13:31Speaker 1: christ Church? Horse just started in your apprenticeship. Oh yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 1: shout out one of the way it's called Horse, No idea.
- 13:39Speaker 6: A lot of people actually commenting on our big pole today,
- 13:41Speaker 6: which is Wellington yiss or no, yes.
- 13:44Speaker 9: Yes, no, yes, wow, okay intintive No, too many bloody
- 13:51Speaker 9: politicians there.
- 13:52Speaker 1: It's political. We don't do politics on that yeah big
- 13:55Speaker 1: yes for Wellywood.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Hell no, spent way too much time sitting in a
- 13:59Speaker 6: hotel room because it's to us and manufacture a motorway.
- 14:02Speaker 6: Massive shiit holeful of widows. So look, it's fifty at
- 14:07Speaker 6: the moment in terms of Wellington, yess or not very much.
- 14:09Speaker 5: So I'm going to be honest with you.
- 14:10Speaker 4: I've spent a lot of time in Welly and I've
- 14:12Speaker 4: had some good times and I've had some not so
- 14:13Speaker 4: good times.
- 14:15Speaker 1: You go into the bad times.
- 14:16Speaker 4: I've had some absolute shockers down here, no question about it,
- 14:19Speaker 4: but also some great time. It did a lot of
- 14:21Speaker 4: fear and done, a lot of comedy and all that
- 14:23Speaker 4: sort of jazz.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of standing ovations.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of standing ovations. A lot of people
- 14:27Speaker 4: throwing fruit and stuff as well, you know.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Boing hey, feelers, you know you guys, bag and Wellington.
- 14:34Speaker 1: It's not really my thing. I love it here, sure,
- 14:37Speaker 1: same and a lot of people want to come here.
- 14:39Speaker 1: For example, my wife and daughter women, we're meant to
- 14:45Speaker 1: be flying down today at a round about. I think
- 14:48Speaker 1: it was about three thirty though, were meant to be
- 14:50Speaker 1: coming down, but we may have mentioned it. There's a
- 14:52Speaker 1: bit of a wind outside out of one hundred kilometer
- 14:55Speaker 1: of our gale's northerlyas, which is pretty standy. My wife
- 14:59Speaker 1: and daughter got to the airport the three thirty flight
- 15:02Speaker 1: got pushed to four forty the minute they arrived, and
- 15:05Speaker 1: then ten minutes later got pushed to five forty. Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 1: but it see his departure time five forty, arrival time
- 15:11Speaker 1: five fifty. Oh that's good flight, that's good. That's pretty good.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Oh that's the great thing about a good breeze behind you.
- 15:16Speaker 4: You've got one hundred mile an hour gale blowing up
- 15:19Speaker 4: your ass.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Are you going to get down here pretty quick?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Sm It's going to be a hell of a landing,
- 15:23Speaker 1: But it looks like it's it's slowly trekking towards being
- 15:26Speaker 1: canceled all together. Sure, And so my wife is sort
- 15:29Speaker 1: of tossing up whether we should just move the flights
- 15:33Speaker 1: all tomorrow morning. They can just come down then when
- 15:34Speaker 1: the weather's cleared a little bit. But my daughter, as
- 15:37Speaker 1: soon as she heard that, she blew up. She's not happy.
- 15:39Speaker 1: She's very family orientated, kezy.
- 15:42Speaker 5: Sure, yeah, she.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Loves loves Ifano, and so she's got three aunties down here,
- 15:46Speaker 1: a couple of uncles, grandmother, all that sort of thing,
- 15:49Speaker 1: and a cousin. So she's adamant that she's coming down.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And as soon as the chat started up about her
- 15:55Speaker 1: having to go home, go to bed, get up, come
- 15:57Speaker 1: back out to the airport. She's actually hijacked at plane, right,
- 16:00Speaker 1: she's hijacked. Yeah, she's on the way. Wow. Can she
- 16:04Speaker 1: fly a plane? Yeah? Well she could have, but she's
- 16:07Speaker 1: self taught, so she must have googled it. Amazing what
- 16:11Speaker 1: you can find on YouTube. They like Instagram reels. Did
- 16:16Speaker 1: they leave a plane sitting there with the keys in
- 16:17Speaker 1: it or something?
- 16:18Speaker 5: No?
- 16:18Speaker 1: No, she managed to overpower the ear stewards and their
- 16:21Speaker 1: train just to sort of back down. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:26Speaker 1: and she put a sleeper hole on the pilot. Wow.
- 16:29Speaker 1: And then it's just taken off and is on the
- 16:30Speaker 1: way down here. So we'll see whether she makes it
- 16:32Speaker 1: or not. I've got faith in it.
- 16:34Speaker 4: That's so weird, Mogi, because my youngest exactly the same scenario.
- 16:39Speaker 5: I was down here doing it. Yeah. And then my wife.
- 16:45Speaker 4: And child were coming down and they got their flights canceled,
- 16:49Speaker 4: and so my wife was like, oh, we'll go, we'll
- 16:51Speaker 4: get a flight in.
- 16:52Speaker 5: The morning sort of thing.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Yeah, and my daughter was having none of it and
- 16:55Speaker 4: had a real little tantrum. But anyway, they did end
- 16:58Speaker 4: up going home and my wife went to beer next
- 17:01Speaker 4: next minute, nick minute, my daughter you know, texts me
- 17:04Speaker 4: when she gets down here. She's jet skied the entire
- 17:08Speaker 4: I don't know where she got the bloody.
- 17:09Speaker 5: Jet ski from, but.
- 17:13Speaker 4: From Auckland to Wally it is.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And how old was he doing?
- 17:19Speaker 5: About three?
- 17:22Speaker 1: That's exactly the same as what's happening to me at
- 17:24Speaker 1: the moment. Really, yeah, because my daughter, you know, she's
- 17:27Speaker 1: find that plane. Remember she's hijacked the plane.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, Hey, is a bit of Black Sabbath
- 17:35Speaker 5: for you.
- 17:37Speaker 2: The whole Archy Big Show week days from four on
- 17:40Speaker 2: Radio Hidarchy List.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Indeed, Black Sabbath Fair on the Radio Honarchy Big Show
- 17:45Speaker 4: this Friday afternoon, live from beer Vanna and beautiful, beautiful
- 17:50Speaker 4: Wellington City. And I have to say it is a
- 17:54Speaker 4: very surreal experience. At the moment we are literally broadcasting
- 17:58Speaker 4: in a totally in the stadium and the cleaners, Mogi
- 18:03Speaker 4: I've just gone through with their little mobiles sucking up
- 18:06Speaker 4: those massive puddles of bee you were talking about earlier.
- 18:09Speaker 1: That's right, they've been collected and poured into the glasses
- 18:12Speaker 1: that now sit before us on our DJ booth as
- 18:15Speaker 1: I like to call it. Already, Jane, You're right It's odd,
- 18:17Speaker 1: isn't it, Because we hear at Westpac Stadium, one of
- 18:20Speaker 1: the great stadia, not just in New Zealand but in
- 18:23Speaker 1: all of the world indeed, and to be here broadcasting
- 18:28Speaker 1: when there's absolutely nobody here, it kind of reminds me
- 18:30Speaker 1: when I've been here for every sporting event, like let's
- 18:33Speaker 1: say the Hurricanes play. Sure it looks very much like this. Yes,
- 18:36Speaker 1: there's nobody here at all. The players are out on
- 18:39Speaker 1: the field. There might be a couple of people sort
- 18:41Speaker 1: of scattered around the crowd they're esteemed or still asleep
- 18:44Speaker 1: from the previous game. But buy and large, this is
- 18:46Speaker 1: what you get. Absolutely so when the next session starts
- 18:50Speaker 1: up and around about six o'clock, and if you want
- 18:52Speaker 1: to get involved in Varna, there's still a couple of
- 18:55Speaker 1: tickets around, So come on down. This place is going
- 18:58Speaker 1: to be absolutely humming.
- 19:01Speaker 6: Quick Christian Fellers, you've had a chance to taste the
- 19:04Speaker 6: Backbone brew courtesy of Hot Federation.
- 19:07Speaker 1: What did we think? Oh so good, so good, so
- 19:12Speaker 1: very very I'll be honest.
- 19:13Speaker 5: With Ragrant Crisp refreshing.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I'll be honest with you. Pugson poured one for you.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Hoody J poured one for old Kezy. Here. He's sucking
- 19:21Speaker 1: back one right now and just taking a rest. I
- 19:23Speaker 1: think he must be on the GRAM or something like that.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I haven't had one yet.
- 19:28Speaker 5: One that's bloody outrageous, you know.
- 19:30Speaker 4: It's it's so surreal actually at the moment that I
- 19:32Speaker 4: think I may be dreaming.
- 19:34Speaker 1: It's weird, you know what I mean.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I would not be surprised if I woke up at
- 19:38Speaker 4: some point in the next few minutes with a massive rager.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going God, that was weird.
- 19:44Speaker 4: I had a drum behind you, and then I'd yeah,
- 19:46Speaker 4: and then i'd, you know, turn up for the show today.
- 19:49Speaker 5: And go fowlers.
- 19:50Speaker 4: I had the weirdest dream that we were doing a
- 19:51Speaker 4: show in a stadium but there was no one there.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It's got zombies sort of vibes, do it. That's like
- 19:56Speaker 1: twenty eight days later or something like that. There's no
- 19:58Speaker 1: nobody around except a steamed people.
- 20:01Speaker 6: And you tell us about your dream and then we'll
- 20:02Speaker 6: be like, oh, that means you're dying there.
- 20:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 6: Yeah, the stadium represents you and the lack of people
- 20:07Speaker 6: represents a lack of life.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Akay, you're dying.
- 20:10Speaker 5: My god.
- 20:11Speaker 4: This is the first time in my life. I've realized
- 20:13Speaker 4: I'm dying in my dream.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Crazy, Right, when you're in a dream, Jays, you
- 20:16Speaker 1: can do anything right now, I mean, what do you
- 20:18Speaker 1: want to do? Hey, Jase, take your pants on you? Yeah,
- 20:20Speaker 1: let's just go.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Yeah. Here's Tam and Parlay Big Show Podcast. It's Adeg
- 20:26Speaker 4: Tayman parla Vera on the radio Hodarchy Big Show. There's
- 20:30Speaker 4: Friday Afternoon Night from Being Varner and Beautiful Wellington City.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Now because it's a Friday, of course, a Friday Throbber
- 20:37Speaker 4: coming up after five o'clock feels and I believe the
- 20:41Speaker 4: theme today is drinking.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Unsurprisingly, we're beat Vanna you know.
- 20:46Speaker 6: Yeah, we started doing topics or themes for the Throbber.
- 20:49Speaker 6: So we've each chosen a song which is strictly on
- 20:51Speaker 6: theme beer drinking. That's right, responsibly, that's right. And of course,
- 20:55Speaker 6: you know music and rock and roll, here's a very
- 20:58Speaker 6: tight relationship with with drinking. So, I mean it was difficult,
- 21:03Speaker 6: wasn't it keasy to just make one choice? Because there
- 21:06Speaker 6: are thousands and thousands of possibilities when it comes to
- 21:10Speaker 6: a drinking jam, like we're about to do The Throbber
- 21:12Speaker 6: in a few minutes time and I'm still tossing up
- 21:14Speaker 6: between three songs.
- 21:17Speaker 1: That's right. And we've got some pretty strict rules around
- 21:20Speaker 1: the Throbber as well too, So really looking forward, I hope,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I hope nobody's sort of overstepped any boundaries or fallen
- 21:26Speaker 1: short in anyway. That would be a real shame, totally.
- 21:28Speaker 5: Man. I found the same problem Fuels.
- 21:31Speaker 4: There were so many thousands of songs to choose one. Ah,
- 21:35Speaker 4: what's the sort of tune I'd like to listen.
- 21:37Speaker 5: To when I'm having a few beersies? You know what
- 21:40Speaker 5: I mean? So's it's easy.
- 21:48Speaker 6: It's not I want to listen to while drinking a beer.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Hey, there's been some pretty wild, wild interpretations of me.
- 21:58Speaker 4: But anyway said, we'll also got a bit of bought
- 22:00Speaker 4: Chad after five o'clock and some improv chat.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't wait.
- 22:04Speaker 5: Great stuff.
- 22:06Speaker 2: The hod Achy Big Show with Jason, Mike and Kezy
- 22:09Speaker 2: tune in week days at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 22:16Speaker 1: It's the Hole Big Chows Friday throb.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Oh yeah boy, and I can tell you it is
- 22:25Speaker 4: absolutely going off here in Wellington for the for the
- 22:31Speaker 4: Friday Throber, I just gave Old Keysy and Old Mogia
- 22:36Speaker 4: real pantsing in the table tennis, so that was a
- 22:39Speaker 4: lot of fun as well.
- 22:40Speaker 5: Hey Allison, of course the Throbber.
- 22:42Speaker 4: We each choose a tune that will kick off your
- 22:46Speaker 4: Friday night into the weekend day fellows.
- 22:48Speaker 6: That's right, jas and you call an eight hundred hodaky,
- 22:51Speaker 6: you vote for which one you like the beast, which
- 22:52Speaker 6: one you want to hear in full, and then net
- 22:54Speaker 6: person gets to plan in full?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Shall I go first? I think I'll go first.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Well, shall we tell him what the femurs?
- 22:59Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 22:59Speaker 6: I was about to today is drinking responsibly of course
- 23:02Speaker 6: because we are at Bavarda.
- 23:04Speaker 1: So I went for this absolute chum.
- 23:11Speaker 5: Crank that.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah Metallica Whiskey in the jar Row.
- 23:20Speaker 5: Show.
- 23:22Speaker 6: Yeah, such a good tune man, right on theme the Emogi.
- 23:25Speaker 6: She's an absolute bang of that one. And in fact
- 23:29Speaker 6: I also chose that song Keezy, but I had a
- 23:33Speaker 6: vibe when peg Sun looked at me, I said, somebody
- 23:36Speaker 6: else has chosen that, haven't they? And it was Kezy
- 23:38Speaker 6: and he said I'm not saying anything, And I thought
- 23:40Speaker 6: to myself, it'll be easy because you've won before with
- 23:42Speaker 6: that one. So I've gone with another throbber that is
- 23:47Speaker 6: drinking related, and this one is from guns Roses.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I train.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Great stuff.
- 24:09Speaker 1: It isn't good. It could have done with a couple
- 24:11Speaker 1: more seconds the dilly, just to give them some lyrics.
- 24:13Speaker 4: But all good, brother, sure, sure, yeah, well you know,
- 24:18Speaker 4: like you Fellas, I'm just thinking rocking tunes. I'm thinking
- 24:21Speaker 4: a few beersies and thinking drinking tunes, and I came
- 24:25Speaker 4: up with this absolute banger.
- 24:33Speaker 1: So good. What's the name of this one? Jason Aurora, Aurora,
- 24:41Speaker 1: Aurora by the Food Miners. Yeah, yeah, find that one down.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:48Speaker 1: The first issue is it's not a throbber. It is
- 24:50Speaker 1: an eb.
- 24:53Speaker 6: Seriously, seriously, do we need to cancel the Throbber because
- 24:56Speaker 6: what you've done there is we've chosen a song that's
- 24:58Speaker 6: not a throbber and isn't drinking. Ladd and Pugs also
- 25:02Speaker 6: gave you a warning about this forty eight hours ago,
- 25:04Speaker 6: not drinking related, and you still haven't change.
- 25:07Speaker 4: I think we let the people decide it's.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Not a thing. Okay, it's not within the theme. And
- 25:14Speaker 1: even when they suggested this, I said, what about one
- 25:16Speaker 1: bourb and one Scotch and one beer is a song
- 25:18Speaker 1: from George So you could have done that. If you
- 25:20Speaker 1: could think of anything, I'll just choose a song.
- 25:24Speaker 4: So the the throuble that you chose about the dress
- 25:28Speaker 4: or whatever, the most tenuous connection to a you're.
- 25:32Speaker 5: Talking about the one you did a little while back.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Oh my god, why but that's fear then? But James,
- 25:38Speaker 1: can you explain to us the connection between that song
- 25:41Speaker 1: you've chosen and having drinking related themes in it?
- 25:44Speaker 5: Well, you need to listen to the whole song to understand.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You just have to break it down for us.
- 25:48Speaker 5: I don't have to, you just need to.
- 25:51Speaker 1: And then it's simple. I saw the throbber.
- 25:53Speaker 5: Look, let's get the people deciding, shall we do?
- 25:56Speaker 6: You want to hear my one or Mogi's one? Waite
- 25:58Speaker 6: hundred hod I can give us a call now and
- 26:01Speaker 6: in the meantime we'll hear this.
- 26:02Speaker 1: This is so angry actual throbber audio slave show me.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Look, I tell you what, if I win this one,
- 26:07Speaker 4: we can put another asterix.
- 26:09Speaker 1: All right, No, absolutely not. We're canning the segment because
- 26:12Speaker 1: you clearly don't care anymore. I reckon we let the people.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Sorry, thanks man, make it all the way. Yeah, god,
- 26:19Speaker 5: you're going to have.
- 26:21Speaker 2: The hiking being shown podcast.
- 26:26Speaker 1: It's the Big Shows Friday Throbber.
- 26:31Speaker 5: Yes, indeed, welcome back here, Massive Backbones.
- 26:34Speaker 4: You're listening to the Big Show line from Beer, Vanner
- 26:36Speaker 4: and Wellington to Friday.
- 26:38Speaker 5: A throb of the theme today was drinking.
- 26:41Speaker 1: A fellow sure was, And can I just say it's
- 26:44Speaker 1: it's run a real catamount of pigeons. We've been enjoying
- 26:48Speaker 1: a very solid brotherhood at the Big Show for quite
- 26:52Speaker 1: some time now, and then you have a little events
- 26:55Speaker 1: a sort of take place, and they seem small on
- 26:57Speaker 1: the surface, but then they have a huge effect on
- 27:00Speaker 1: the on the team and morale, if I can say that.
- 27:02Speaker 1: And we've come up with a theme. The theme is drinking,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and yet Jay's today you've decided to completely ignore the
- 27:10Speaker 1: theme and just choose a song that you like. And
- 27:13Speaker 1: there is an odd decision when there's been multiple suggestions
- 27:17Speaker 1: of songs that you could have gone with, but you
- 27:19Speaker 1: just went no, I'm not doing that. I'm not doing
- 27:21Speaker 1: the theme. I'm just going with the sign. So I'd
- 27:22Speaker 1: love to hear your thoughts on it.
- 27:24Speaker 5: I mistened to prendident Fellows, I.
- 27:28Speaker 6: Was a lie. That is a lie, Jason. I'm pulling
- 27:31Speaker 6: you up on it.
- 27:31Speaker 5: And you.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I can't be bothered choosing and you can.
- 27:34Speaker 5: I put it this way, it's about drinking, right.
- 27:38Speaker 1: It's drinking theme songs.
- 27:40Speaker 5: Yeah, well drinking, no drinking theme song. I was having
- 27:45Speaker 5: a few beers and then they put.
- 27:46Speaker 1: It to you this way. Jason Paksan warned you about
- 27:49Speaker 1: your choice a couple of a couple of days out.
- 27:51Speaker 1: I suggested a song for you, easy, suggested a song
- 27:55Speaker 1: for you, all drinking related. But you have chosen to
- 27:58Speaker 1: throw that back in our faces for some and Jason
- 28:00Speaker 1: and you said no, I'm just going to choose a song.
- 28:02Speaker 7: I like.
- 28:02Speaker 1: So if this was me and I had chosen a song,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I'd expect both of you to say that is not
- 28:06Speaker 1: related to the theme you're out this week. And also,
- 28:09Speaker 1: what do we do here? Jase? I mean, I just
- 28:11Speaker 1: don't know what to do with you, mate.
- 28:13Speaker 6: It's a disregard for this thing we I've never seen
- 28:17Speaker 6: Keezy so curious.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Is hungry to be honest, I'm hungry for a throbber.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Well an absolute shies fair enough.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Then I'm out of the race tonight because.
- 28:32Speaker 4: I think you know, team morale is more important and
- 28:35Speaker 4: I'm keasy is just in such a hoo of a
- 28:38Speaker 4: mood about.
- 28:39Speaker 1: It, Jase, I'll just I'll stand down. No, it doesn't matter, No,
- 28:43Speaker 1: it's fine.
- 28:43Speaker 6: It's just the disregard for what we've built here as
- 28:46Speaker 6: a funer, you know what I mean.
- 28:47Speaker 1: And it just upsets me.
- 28:48Speaker 6: So I think next week you should be banned and
- 28:50Speaker 6: Pugsan should come back in, but you should still submit
- 28:53Speaker 6: a throber.
- 28:55Speaker 1: It's got to be. It's got to be. It's got
- 28:56Speaker 1: to be this week is out or he's in, and
- 28:58Speaker 1: then we get on with our lives. But I don't know,
- 29:00Speaker 1: it's very weird to me. We've got to see it
- 29:02Speaker 1: rules in play.
- 29:02Speaker 4: But as I say, Fellas, I'll withdraw myself from the contest,
- 29:07Speaker 4: all right, with my head held high.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Sure, and people can still vote for him. We'll see
- 29:11Speaker 1: what would have happened.
- 29:11Speaker 5: But that's the other thing I was going to win
- 29:14Speaker 5: it all right?
- 29:15Speaker 6: Well, great Chune, well is quickly? Here is Jason's throb
- 29:18Speaker 6: that he shows. It was Aurora by the food fight.
- 29:20Speaker 6: It's not at all related to drinking.
- 29:23Speaker 1: What that was it? That was it? I wish it
- 29:26Speaker 1: was that. I really wish it was that. There you
- 29:29Speaker 1: go like, it's a fine song. It's a nifty Little Chip.
- 29:33Speaker 1: We were in the studio the other day and this
- 29:35Speaker 1: was on and Jason was going, man, this was a tune.
- 29:37Speaker 1: It's a great chune. Yeah yeah.
- 29:41Speaker 6: Meanwhile, this is my drinking related song and its Metallica Whiskey in.
- 29:44Speaker 5: The jar Ro.
- 29:47Speaker 7: Ah.
- 29:48Speaker 1: This is the man on topic though.
- 29:52Speaker 6: And then of course Mogi had night trained by guns
- 29:55Speaker 6: and roses.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Oh so good. Should we go to the lines and
- 30:05Speaker 1: see who's voting for what?
- 30:06Speaker 5: Sure? Man, let's do it.
- 30:08Speaker 4: We can't actually see the phone line, so we're just
- 30:10Speaker 4: going to have to say hello to Hoover's online get
- 30:13Speaker 4: a caller?
- 30:14Speaker 5: Who were speaking to?
- 30:16Speaker 4: Is that me?
- 30:17Speaker 5: Yes?
- 30:17Speaker 4: Mate, Hey, I'm just before I'm here, just before I vote?
- 30:22Speaker 1: Can I vote? Can I ask what kezy you recommended
- 30:25Speaker 1: to Jay? First? Tumblewomba.
- 30:28Speaker 5: I probably would have voted for that.
- 30:30Speaker 2: You could have gone for that?
- 30:31Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, exactly. So who are you voting for instead?
- 30:33Speaker 5: Man, Whiskey and the jarro Good on you.
- 30:37Speaker 6: Mate, You've got great taste. So that's one for Whiskey
- 30:39Speaker 6: and the Jarrow. Let's go to the next caller, shall we, Jason.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Yeah, isn't he checking out?
- 30:46Speaker 5: Caller? Who are we speaking to? Homous good a Hamish
- 30:50Speaker 5: your man Barston?
- 30:50Speaker 7: How's life yew are you?
- 30:53Speaker 5: Yeah? Good things? Mate? What are you running with me? Hamish?
- 30:57Speaker 1: It's a no brainer a toy je thanks mate for
- 31:01Speaker 1: good on.
- 31:01Speaker 9: You never called the station again.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Let's go to another buller.
- 31:07Speaker 5: Please don't vote for me. It's going to be a
- 31:10Speaker 5: big fall out.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Who is speaking to my name is Luke guy?
- 31:14Speaker 5: Yeah? Good thanks Luke yourself.
- 31:17Speaker 10: Not too bad so far?
- 31:18Speaker 1: Good on you mate?
- 31:19Speaker 5: What are you running with you? Luke?
- 31:20Speaker 10: I'm just gonna say a monkst have been known for
- 31:23Speaker 10: his absolute sumping bella. You've chosen the most ability of
- 31:27Speaker 10: the lot, mate. I'm going with Keysy. I think I'm
- 31:34Speaker 10: going with In the Jar.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Here it is Whiskey and.
- 31:42Speaker 2: The jar roh genuine Robert, great staff and next Jay
- 31:48Speaker 2: the Hierarchy Big Show with Jason, Mike and Kyzy. Tune
- 31:51Speaker 2: in week days.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Four on radio.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Indeed, that was your Friday throuber this Friday afternoon and
- 31:59Speaker 4: thank god Kesey wanted us.
- 32:01Speaker 1: All I can say, thanks Jase.
- 32:03Speaker 6: That was Whiskey in the Jar Ro by Metallica. There
- 32:06Speaker 6: the theme today was drinking songs because we're at b
- 32:08Speaker 6: at Varna and Wellington and Minogue. We have to decide
- 32:12Speaker 6: what we're going to do with Jase, because if you've
- 32:13Speaker 6: just tuned in, not only did he not really choose
- 32:16Speaker 6: a throbber at all, he didn't even choose one on theme.
- 32:18Speaker 6: We warned him that it wasn't on theme pugs un did,
- 32:21Speaker 6: and he chose to ignore that and say, I don't care,
- 32:23Speaker 6: I'm picking it anyway.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. Actually what we needed a score update.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Yeah I got that, so we know we were all standing.
- 32:30Speaker 1: But it's like Jase finds a competition so easy, or
- 32:34Speaker 1: he's got petty for you or something. I don't know
- 32:36Speaker 1: what's going on. He'll play it off as that he
- 32:38Speaker 1: sort of wants to let you get back into it,
- 32:40Speaker 1: but I think banning him from the competition is its
- 32:42Speaker 1: own punishment, and hopefully moving forward, you'll start taking the
- 32:46Speaker 1: throbber seriously and start offering a serious third option for
- 32:51Speaker 1: all those backbones there out there who listened to our show,
- 32:55Speaker 1: who work so hard her toil hour after hour to
- 32:59Speaker 1: get to the rober at the end of the week,
- 33:01Speaker 1: and get on it.
- 33:02Speaker 6: That's right, Jace, Have you got anything to say like,
- 33:04Speaker 6: because and I know you're going to pretend that it's
- 33:05Speaker 6: a song that you choose because you like drinking beers
- 33:07Speaker 6: with it, But genuinely, like, have you got anything to
- 33:09Speaker 6: say to the backbones out there that you've let down?
- 33:11Speaker 5: Well, first and foremost to Mogi ka kaha mate.
- 33:14Speaker 4: And look, you know, I understand there's been some controversy,
- 33:18Speaker 4: and as I say in my defense, there has been
- 33:21Speaker 4: some very tenuous connections to some songs that have been
- 33:25Speaker 4: played as robbers. Sure, I think that's a fair point
- 33:27Speaker 4: to make. There was one, there was a couple.
- 33:30Speaker 1: But the second one was a joke. And I can
- 33:32Speaker 1: say they have been tenuous those strands, but at least
- 33:35Speaker 1: those tenuous strands spider wib but at least they existed.
- 33:41Speaker 1: And this particular example, there was zero relationship.
- 33:45Speaker 6: The worst part is I hear I heard Jay say,
- 33:48Speaker 6: I know that it's not on thing, but I just
- 33:50Speaker 6: don't care.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I heard him say that.
- 33:52Speaker 6: And this is a segment that is beloved by New
- 33:54Speaker 6: Zealand backbones across the country. And that's the attitude you're bringing.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Well, look, you know, at the end of the day,
- 34:00Speaker 4: there was the right outcome. Hoy J was not rewarded
- 34:04Speaker 4: for his choice. If you are having a few beers.
- 34:09Speaker 4: He's pump bed bar so that you'll be having a
- 34:11Speaker 4: good old damn yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 1: A score update.
- 34:15Speaker 6: Sure, Oh you're going so out in front still on
- 34:18Speaker 6: ten wins old Mogi ten Jay, So you're coming second
- 34:24Speaker 6: on seven with three asterix is going to give you
- 34:26Speaker 6: a fourth one for.
- 34:29Speaker 5: I can't have a fourth if I haven't won.
- 34:31Speaker 1: No, but you just get another as then either that
- 34:33Speaker 1: or a docker point.
- 34:36Speaker 6: And then I am on six and then bringing up
- 34:39Speaker 6: the Yeah I'm on six, but my sex doesn't have
- 34:41Speaker 6: a single asterixk It's it's fear and square, it's squeaky clean,
- 34:45Speaker 6: and I have been playing the robber with honor.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll do better next time.
- 34:52Speaker 1: All right, I just don't think you will.
- 34:54Speaker 4: In the meantime, I'm probably going to go out and
- 34:56Speaker 4: have a darry.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Everyone's gathering out front.
- 35:00Speaker 5: We are too damn it.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Go and do it.
- 35:02Speaker 6: If you're coming down to be a vanner, we'll see
- 35:04Speaker 6: you soon for the night session.
- 35:06Speaker 2: The whole Achy Big Shows with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue
- 35:10Speaker 2: and Keith.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Oh Guns Roses.
- 35:14Speaker 4: There on the Radio Honarchy Big Show that Friday evening.
- 35:18Speaker 4: We're alive from Beer Varna and beautiful, beautiful Wellington City
- 35:23Speaker 4: special treat. Actually, we've got Ryan from Beavanner who's organized
- 35:28Speaker 4: this majestic gathering of people. Ryan, your man bastard house
- 35:32Speaker 4: life a.
- 35:32Speaker 11: Pretty good mate. We're through the first session. Yeah, once
- 35:36Speaker 11: we get through that one, it's it's clear sailing.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Is that what it is for you?
- 35:41Speaker 5: Guys?
- 35:41Speaker 4: You get you go, You get bit tense and nervous
- 35:44Speaker 4: for the first session. Is it all going to work out?
- 35:45Speaker 4: Is it all going to be okay?
- 35:47Speaker 5: And then boom, it's she's away and running.
- 35:49Speaker 3: If you remember we talked last year, this is what
- 35:50Speaker 3: I do all year. I worked for a year to
- 35:53Speaker 3: this weekend. And as soon as there's people in here
- 35:55Speaker 3: and they're a drinking beer buying stuff.
- 35:58Speaker 11: As soon as it works, the beer is pouring, fine
- 36:01Speaker 11: beers like people. Man needs a little time to like
- 36:04Speaker 11: get going, the taps a little bit of warming up.
- 36:09Speaker 6: And the other thing I remember from last year too,
- 36:10Speaker 6: is as soon as this finishers get straight on to
- 36:13Speaker 6: twenty twenty five.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much mate. We're just like making sure everyone.
- 36:16Speaker 11: Gets paid and then we start reporting to everyone, yeah,
- 36:20Speaker 11: all of our partners, and then we're.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Into well, what does the next one.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Look like, how good is reporting?
- 36:24Speaker 5: That's my favorite thing, right, tell me about that? What
- 36:28Speaker 5: is reporting? Just saying well, can you report on?
- 36:31Speaker 11: We are supported by a whole bunch of sponsors, were
- 36:34Speaker 11: supported by the city, right, Yeah, they invest in us
- 36:36Speaker 11: and invest in us to bring people to Wellington from
- 36:39Speaker 11: all over the world, and you know we have to
- 36:42Speaker 11: pay with that by reporting to They.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Want to know how many numbers, how many who bought
- 36:46Speaker 1: what where do they come from?
- 36:48Speaker 5: How many beers that keasy head.
- 36:50Speaker 11: How many how many hotel nights that are brought to
- 36:53Speaker 11: the city. I think we write like nine thousand nights,
- 36:56Speaker 11: you know.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Wow, Yeah, it's a good one. I always say whenever
- 36:59Speaker 1: I'm doingything, I just say nine thousand nights. That's to believe.
- 37:03Speaker 3: It's actually it's my biography.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Is going to be called nights.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:08Speaker 5: Nice.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Just on the front, DA, I mean, what sort of
- 37:09Speaker 4: numbers are you looking at in terms of people coming
- 37:11Speaker 4: from outside the city.
- 37:13Speaker 11: It kind of ends up our averages over the years
- 37:16Speaker 11: and this is no difference. It's about sixty percent from Wellington,
- 37:20Speaker 11: forty percent from outside of Wellington.
- 37:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:22Speaker 11: Nice, But I think we've got about five hundred people
- 37:25Speaker 11: from Australia this year. Wow, And I think there's even
- 37:28Speaker 11: like twenty people from California, probably more.
- 37:31Speaker 3: They met a guy from Hawaii. He's come over a
- 37:34Speaker 3: low hard thing, you know.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Yeah hello.
- 37:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:36Speaker 3: In fact, his beer blog and his writing is a
- 37:39Speaker 3: looha beer.
- 37:39Speaker 5: So wow, you're hard.
- 37:42Speaker 1: To start a blog called Cure to Beers? Yeah, send
- 37:46Speaker 1: me your beers and I write a blog about his
- 37:47Speaker 1: shit and.
- 37:48Speaker 5: Hell and there you go. You go, Keysy, what do
- 37:52Speaker 5: you got?
- 37:53Speaker 1: Ryan from beer Varna?
- 37:54Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 37:54Speaker 6: You obviously this whole thing started with a passion for beers, right.
- 37:58Speaker 11: I think you well, it originally, like in two thousand,
- 38:00Speaker 11: the one started as events around the city by the
- 38:04Speaker 11: New League where the Brewers.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Guild of New Zealand just to celebrate like the awards time.
- 38:09Speaker 11: And that grew and grew and eventually ended up in
- 38:11Speaker 11: the town Hall and there was you know, a thousand people,
- 38:14Speaker 11: and then in twenty eleven it was taken out of
- 38:16Speaker 11: the town Hall and put in here. And then it
- 38:18Speaker 11: took I think four maybe the fifth year it finally
- 38:21Speaker 11: made it this whole way around the stadium.
- 38:23Speaker 6: That's like for them to move from the town Hall
- 38:26Speaker 6: to the cake turn Were you like okay.
- 38:29Speaker 11: Yeah, Well the year before that was the first time
- 38:32Speaker 11: that I volunteered at the festival, which means that I
- 38:34Speaker 11: haven't been as a pundon to be of Vara since
- 38:36Speaker 11: two thousand and nine. I know, apparently it's a good time.
- 38:41Speaker 11: Yeah yeah, people tell me. Then the others who say that, well.
- 38:44Speaker 5: You must scot some free beer surely. Oh yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 11: Afterwards, eleven o'clock tomorrow night left and we've got an
- 38:50Speaker 11: hour to pack out. Then that's when I get to
- 38:51Speaker 11: have some beer and then go into town and hopefully
- 38:54Speaker 11: everyone's happy.
- 38:54Speaker 3: And then on Monday they calling me up down.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Where's my money? Yeah?
- 38:57Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 38:58Speaker 5: How much money? How much much? Do I meet?
- 39:00Speaker 1: Report?
- 39:01Speaker 5: Please? Ryan? Report?
- 39:02Speaker 6: One last question for me that you go Ryan for Bivana.
- 39:05Speaker 6: Are there any tickets left for tomorrow's sessions?
- 39:08Speaker 11: The day session is sold out, but we look behind
- 39:11Speaker 11: the couch and I think we found about one hundred tickets,
- 39:13Speaker 11: So there's walk ins for that, right, and then for
- 39:15Speaker 11: the night session. Yeah, there's a bunch of tickets available, sure,
- 39:18Speaker 11: just on the website or just rock yeah yeah.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Or just Rocker yeah yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Hey, Well, Ryan, congratulations on a rather successful year by
- 39:29Speaker 4: the watch of it. Man, you can see the punters
- 39:32Speaker 4: lining up from the next session going into their Friday
- 39:36Speaker 4: night ay and probably a big weekend hopefully.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Jason, Yeah, totally good stuff. I play some ads, yeah,
- 39:44Speaker 1: do it? Thanks right?
- 39:45Speaker 3: As long as an ad for being banner.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, total reporting the Hood Archy Big Show
- 39:50Speaker 2: with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey.
- 39:54Speaker 5: She heard there on the radio, Hold Archy Big Show.
- 39:57Speaker 4: This glorious Friday evening line from Ivana in Wellington.
- 40:02Speaker 5: But right now it's time for quite not it sounds
- 40:06Speaker 5: free es Cabra.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Actually no, it's time for the Bigture and Abram. Yes, indeed,
- 40:16Speaker 4: a bit of improv on a Friday night Fellas, why not?
- 40:19Speaker 1: Pretty pretty exciting stuff. And of course we started this
- 40:22Speaker 1: segment because Jas you are Kesey's agent, yes, and we're
- 40:27Speaker 1: trying to get Kezy as much work as possible. And
- 40:30Speaker 1: and the best way of doing that is when you're
- 40:32Speaker 1: not booking jobs, you've got to make sure you're honing
- 40:34Speaker 1: your craft. You're honing your craft, You're honing your craft,
- 40:37Speaker 1: and what better way than improv?
- 40:38Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, yeah, So what's the dear who's doing it
- 40:43Speaker 6: with me tonight?
- 40:44Speaker 5: Well, that's going to be you and Mogi tonight, I
- 40:46Speaker 5: believe I know. Sorry, me and you tonight.
- 40:48Speaker 4: That easy, yeah, and Mogi's gonna set up the scenario
- 40:52Speaker 4: for us.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Okay. So sitting the scene here, Kesey is a massive
- 40:58Speaker 1: fan of beer festivals. Mate, You flying in from California, Okay, okay,
- 41:05Speaker 1: and you're bloody excited about this because you've heard about
- 41:08Speaker 1: Beavana from all the way over the other side of
- 41:10Speaker 1: the world.
- 41:11Speaker 4: There.
- 41:11Speaker 1: You've got your own little brewery there, and you've come
- 41:13Speaker 1: down to check it out. You're coming in, You've lined up,
- 41:17Speaker 1: and you've come in for the evening session there. You've
- 41:18Speaker 1: gone up to the first bar that you've come across there, and.
- 41:21Speaker 9: Hoidy j Is working at the bar. Okay, okay, and action,
- 41:28Speaker 9: oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. I
- 41:30Speaker 9: absolutely love your beers.
- 41:35Speaker 5: Yes, sorry mate, What do you after there?
- 41:37Speaker 1: Oh? No, I get a By the way, my name's Randy.
- 41:40Speaker 6: I've flown in here from California and I just wanted
- 41:43Speaker 6: to say, man, I'm a huge fan of your beers.
- 41:45Speaker 6: You know, it just doesn't taste the same over there
- 41:47Speaker 6: on the West Coast, you know what I'm.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Saying, Man, Get amen? Randy.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Here you go, Randy, We've got a policy here at
- 41:55Speaker 4: the bfessel of to not drink, to not serve an
- 41:58Speaker 4: neebur aided peace.
- 41:59Speaker 1: I'm not a debriated baby. I'm just America.
- 42:03Speaker 5: Trust me when I say this. What was it, Randy? Randy? Sorry,
- 42:06Speaker 5: where did you say you were from?
- 42:07Speaker 1: I'm from Kelly, Baby, Kelly whoa?
- 42:10Speaker 5: Oh Kelly? Okay?
- 42:12Speaker 1: Can I have one of your beers?
- 42:14Speaker 4: As I say, mate, we've had a very strict policy
- 42:16Speaker 4: with regards to people that are intoxicated on the fight.
- 42:20Speaker 5: I'm afraid I can't see you today. Mane.
- 42:22Speaker 1: You're funny looking fellah, yeah.
- 42:24Speaker 5: You got You've got that sort of doey eyed look.
- 42:27Speaker 4: And what you're looking at glaze them? Just moving along
- 42:33Speaker 4: about the fella and uh, maybe find somewhere else.
- 42:36Speaker 5: Maybe going to have a glass of water or something
- 42:38Speaker 5: like that.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Oh but water security. Hang on now, let's not get security.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Let's not get silly all of a sudden, keesy beerst
- 42:47Speaker 1: into tears because it looks like it's trip has been
- 42:49Speaker 1: a complete waste of time. Why, man, I just I
- 42:52Speaker 1: came all the way from Kelly. Man I just want
- 42:55Speaker 1: to try your booth.
- 42:57Speaker 4: Yeah, well, there's no reason to take your pain, and
- 43:01Speaker 4: that kind of proves my point.
- 43:04Speaker 5: You've clearly had too many already, and I haven't had any.
- 43:08Speaker 1: You are I'm from Cali Hot.
- 43:11Speaker 4: No, Well, I'm listening to your accent. Maybe not, but
- 43:13Speaker 4: I'm not convincing all. You're from Kelly's. Oh, I have
- 43:15Speaker 4: not arguing to me?
- 43:17Speaker 1: How I am upsets? Security's patience runs out and he
- 43:21Speaker 1: takes the law into his own hands. Just give me
- 43:24Speaker 1: a pair of man.
- 43:26Speaker 5: What do you doing?
- 43:26Speaker 4: All right, Jackie, let's go dosh dosh Doche scene really good.
- 43:33Speaker 5: It was really good.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Keys, It was really good. That is like most of
- 43:37Speaker 1: the Americans that.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, because I mean I meet an American
- 43:42Speaker 4: and they start talking and I immediately think they're past
- 43:44Speaker 4: you know what I mean, because they've got that sort
- 43:46Speaker 4: of crazy enthusiasm about them.
- 43:49Speaker 5: So that was that was really good. Works.
- 43:51Speaker 6: Thanks fellas, do you reckon? I'd have a shot at
- 43:54Speaker 6: baby getting like an American role on.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Something the whole Achy Big Show with Jason, Mike and

- 44:41Speaker 5: We're not doing that, We're okay.
- 44:43Speaker 6: What was what I was thinking though, is we could
- 44:44Speaker 6: update the Big Pole.
- 44:45Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 44:46Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 44:46Speaker 5: Great idea?
- 44:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, here it is wrong from you?
- 44:50Speaker 6: An update of today's Big Pole. All right, so today's
- 45:02Speaker 6: big pol Wellington, Yes or no predictions, Fellas.
- 45:07Speaker 5: I'm going to say, I'm telling you hand on hard.
- 45:14Speaker 5: I I have no clue. I'd say sixty forty years.
- 45:18Speaker 1: I'd say it should be pretty close to fifty fifty.
- 45:22Speaker 6: The result is forty seven percent of people say yes
- 45:24Speaker 6: to Wellington Oh okay, fifty three say no.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Oh, Magie's nailed it. Mogi's absolutely smashed it out of
- 45:30Speaker 1: the park.
- 45:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:31Speaker 6: And the best part I said is I don't even
- 45:33Speaker 6: have to check whether he cheated or not because he
- 45:35Speaker 6: is honor.
- 45:36Speaker 4: You know what I mean, I'm really under the gun. Tonight,
- 45:39Speaker 4: Pugs has been having a gull at me as well.
- 45:41Speaker 4: It's just been all on. I don't know what's half
- 45:44Speaker 4: percent thing has been. You're bringing on yourself, Well I
- 45:46Speaker 4: guess I did.
- 45:47Speaker 6: For those that have just joined us. Check out the
- 45:49Speaker 6: podcast at seven thirty tonight when it comes out Pity
- 45:52Speaker 6: J basically doing a massive pess all over the name
- 45:55Speaker 6: that is the Throbber, ruining the segment, and he's been
- 45:58Speaker 6: given a one match band for next week.
- 46:01Speaker 5: Another edition.
- 46:03Speaker 1: No, I don't agree with that.
- 46:05Speaker 4: But the good news is that Keyzy woner and thank
- 46:08Speaker 4: god no because your wife rang me after the Thriba
- 46:13Speaker 4: and she was still in tears, but they.
- 46:15Speaker 5: Were tears of relief, Kesy that you'd.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Won the Thribber and that it wasn't going to ruin
- 46:20Speaker 4: your weekend again.
- 46:21Speaker 6: Yeah, well I have one, but somehow you managed to
- 46:23Speaker 6: sour with that taste and it has still ruined my weekend.
- 46:26Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean it has to ruin yours New Zealand.
- 46:28Speaker 6: I believe up nixt we're going to be changing to
- 46:30Speaker 6: Simon from Hot Federation who crafted our backbone.
- 46:33Speaker 4: Brute, which is and that's going off by the way
- 46:36Speaker 4: it is going on after Kiev Dooche Dooge douche.
- 46:39Speaker 6: And I could personally vouch for it and say it
- 46:41Speaker 6: is bloody good good stuff responsibly of course.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Well let's get back into the tunes this Friday night.
- 46:46Speaker 4: Here's a bit of Aptic Monkeys.
- 46:49Speaker 2: The Hdiarchy Big Show weekdays from four on Radio Hodiky.
- 46:53Speaker 4: Hookshit there and you're listening to the big show line
- 46:59Speaker 4: from bear Varna. A beautiful Wellington city, but absolutely striat Now.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Our next guest, Simon from Hot Federation, first and foremost made.
- 47:08Speaker 5: How are you a mad bastard?
- 47:10Speaker 1: Not bad?
- 47:10Speaker 5: Yeah? Good?
- 47:11Speaker 3: Bad for Friday night?
- 47:12Speaker 5: Yeah, not bad? Hey, can I ask you how has
- 47:15Speaker 5: it been going? How's the first session for you? Fellas?
- 47:18Speaker 5: Ye're pretty happy with.
- 47:18Speaker 1: The first session.
- 47:19Speaker 3: I thought it was going to be a bit quieting
- 47:20Speaker 3: that but we got pretty slammed.
- 47:22Speaker 5: Yeah great, Yeah, we smashed out of that back fun.
- 47:24Speaker 1: It looked like a lot of people got pretty slammed.
- 47:27Speaker 1: We got in here a little bit later and there
- 47:28Speaker 1: was some pretty bleary eyed looking human beings out there.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I don't uf it was because they getting blasted in
- 47:33Speaker 1: the face by that northerly or it was because of
- 47:35Speaker 1: the delicious beers they've been and buy me. But people
- 47:37Speaker 1: enjoy themselves, so you don't know, they absolutely they're loving it,
- 47:40Speaker 1: don't Yeah, and you're in a blood you are in
- 47:42Speaker 1: prime position.
- 47:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:43Speaker 1: People come in here, they hang a left hand. Bang,
- 47:45Speaker 1: there's hot federation. Yeah yeah, no, real happy about it.
- 47:48Speaker 1: We're back to beout for years as well.
- 47:50Speaker 5: That's right, you guys.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Question for you, Simon.
- 47:53Speaker 6: You witness just as we arrived, just as the show
- 47:56Speaker 6: was about to start, a dangerously old man almost Jason's age,
- 48:01Speaker 6: not quite falling into a sign and then into the
- 48:03Speaker 6: speaker and then knocking the kegs over and two beach
- 48:06Speaker 6: seats as well in your vast experience, was he steamed
- 48:10Speaker 6: responsibly or was he just holding off balance?
- 48:14Speaker 1: Let's go with the old enough balance, I reckon. Yeah.
- 48:16Speaker 3: What it did like was Jason ran over there pretty quickly.
- 48:19Speaker 5: Yeah, you know.
- 48:21Speaker 4: Good where we've all been there, and it was that
- 48:24Speaker 4: slow sort of tree fall of the highly inebriated.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:28Speaker 4: But now listen, what we really want to know is
- 48:31Speaker 4: how's the backbone brew going down?
- 48:33Speaker 1: Mate?
- 48:34Speaker 5: It's gone real well.
- 48:35Speaker 6: We've just smeshed with god, I know, just over a
- 48:37Speaker 6: kid kicking half on the first firscision.
- 48:40Speaker 1: So it's good and it's going pouring down really nicely
- 48:43Speaker 1: now tasting dam.
- 48:44Speaker 4: Dude, The fellas I've been telling me, is a beautiful bouquet,
- 48:48Speaker 4: lovely crisp.
- 48:49Speaker 1: It's a Pelsinger, isn't it?
- 48:52Speaker 4: Can I just ask you a question because I'm a
- 48:54Speaker 4: duferst what's with the half glasses?
- 48:56Speaker 5: Is that a tasters? Okay? You need a taste of
- 49:00Speaker 5: three blacks?
- 49:00Speaker 1: Fifty says the one.
- 49:02Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, well you do the exact price chase. It's
- 49:04Speaker 6: like you were told the price just before that.
- 49:06Speaker 5: It's incredible, isn't it?
- 49:09Speaker 1: Simon?
- 49:10Speaker 6: Given the reins of a brand like Backbone and asked
- 49:14Speaker 6: to make a pilsner, you know, was that quite a
- 49:17Speaker 6: hefty thing to be loved your way? Or do you
- 49:19Speaker 6: think you guys are well up to the task.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I'm a pretty good fan of a Pilsener, so yeah,
- 49:23Speaker 1: give me anything else and I wouldn't have been happy
- 49:25Speaker 1: about it, right, Okay? So you were like Backbone Pillsner,
- 49:28Speaker 1: Yeah right into it?
- 49:29Speaker 8: Right?
- 49:29Speaker 5: Okay?
- 49:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Simon, Simon.
- 49:32Speaker 5: In terms of.
- 49:34Speaker 4: Things like this like being Banner, do you guys see
- 49:38Speaker 4: an appreciable kind of follow on from doing something like this,
- 49:42Speaker 4: you know, because obviously there'll be a lot of people
- 49:44Speaker 4: that won't have tasted your beer before.
- 49:47Speaker 5: Is there a bit of a kickstart from that?
- 49:49Speaker 6: Yeah, it's you were definitely so a good rise and
- 49:52Speaker 6: you know with socials and all that sort of stuff
- 49:54Speaker 6: as well, it's all over the place, so.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Sure, you know, people kind of brain recognition and stuff
- 49:58Speaker 1: like that. So this is what being is about, as kind.
- 50:01Speaker 7: Of getting your brand out there a bit more and
- 50:02Speaker 7: hitting people follow it.
- 50:03Speaker 6: And how important is it, Simon from Hot Federation to
- 50:08Speaker 6: get their brand recognition in the early earlier decision rather
- 50:12Speaker 6: than later on.
- 50:13Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent by the end.
- 50:16Speaker 6: So that's why you want to be by the door,
- 50:17Speaker 6: right because people coming straight away, they're ready to go,
- 50:20Speaker 6: and they will remember your.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Brand and then with the last blur as they leave,
- 50:23Speaker 1: yes exactly.
- 50:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's that's when you shove some sort of
- 50:28Speaker 4: information about your brewery in their pocket.
- 50:30Speaker 1: You know, that's when you can't and then you collapse
- 50:32Speaker 1: against and then the next thing you know, you got
- 50:37Speaker 1: a hardy joe going through your pockets before.
- 50:38Speaker 4: You Yeah, he actually had quite an occasion and I
- 50:42Speaker 4: did very well well, Simon. Congratulations on that mate, and
- 50:45Speaker 4: I stoked to hear that the old backbone brewer is
- 50:49Speaker 4: going well for you.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Let's get through another couple of keys before the weekend's Ober.
- 50:52Speaker 5: What do you say, bring that good stuff responsibly? Yeah,
- 50:57Speaker 5: responsibly obviously, Thanks Simon.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Guys.
- 51:01Speaker 2: The whole Archy Big Show weekdays from four on Radio Hodaki.
- 51:05Speaker 5: He's indeed Ben Halen there on the radio.
- 51:08Speaker 4: Hold Ucky Big Show this Friday evening live from beer
- 51:12Speaker 4: Varna and Whalington.
- 51:13Speaker 5: Jitty, if you can hear us out of the crowd,
- 51:14Speaker 5: give us a backbone, would you?
- 51:16Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 51:17Speaker 5: Backbone And as you.
- 51:19Speaker 4: Can probably hear in the background there millions of people
- 51:23Speaker 4: have just poured in for the second session.
- 51:25Speaker 5: But we don't want to get distracted for this next section, Dew,
- 51:29Speaker 5: we fail us because it's a very important night for
- 51:31Speaker 5: rugby league.
- 51:32Speaker 1: That's right time to chat footy with me, Kathy. What
- 51:40Speaker 1: are the Warriors up to?
- 51:43Speaker 6: I'll tell you what the Warriors are up to tonight
- 51:45Speaker 6: at eight o'clock Mount Smart Stadium or should I say
- 51:47Speaker 6: Sean Johnson Stadium. They're taking on the Cannbary Bulldogs in
- 51:50Speaker 6: their final game. Yeah Home twenty twenty four, Sewan Johnson's
- 51:54Speaker 6: final game on home turn. To be honest, I don't
- 51:56Speaker 6: think you'll play next week. I think this is going
- 51:58Speaker 6: to be a final of a game. Oh you know
- 52:00Speaker 6: what I mean, Pop take every second game he's been
- 52:02Speaker 6: missing anyway due to injury. Just heard some big news
- 52:06Speaker 6: Josh Curran is out for the Bulldogs. That means they've
- 52:09Speaker 6: lost Josh Curran and Max King from their prop rotation,
- 52:14Speaker 6: which means through the middle of the tiny Motey's.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Tiny, absolutely tiny, and yet they're sitting in fifth position
- 52:21Speaker 1: on the ladder. They've got thirty two points when you
- 52:24Speaker 1: look at them, We've got twenty one. But they have
- 52:28Speaker 1: been going brilliantly, the best defensive team in the competition.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Jason's you were discussing earlier on when we're off here. Yes,
- 52:36Speaker 1: you know, I really want Shawn Johnson to get a
- 52:38Speaker 1: victory in his last game. His first game was against
- 52:41Speaker 1: West Tigers on June sew twenty eleven. Keysy, you remember
- 52:44Speaker 1: that really well? Yeah, but I've got a feeling they're
- 52:46Speaker 1: going to get absolutely hammered. But what's your prediction they're
- 52:49Speaker 1: keysing the Warriors or US tonight? Well, you watching it,
- 52:53Speaker 1: But I think the Warriors in general, they're going to struggle.
- 52:57Speaker 1: We've discussed this already, like when you when you stack
- 52:59Speaker 1: up the facts.
- 52:59Speaker 6: I think that the Bulldogs aren't the peterth Panthers, they
- 53:02Speaker 6: aren't the Melbourne Storm. They are due to have an
- 53:06Speaker 6: upset game. I can't just win every game from here
- 53:08Speaker 6: on out.
- 53:09Speaker 5: They are.
- 53:10Speaker 1: I think this is the one jase just before you
- 53:12Speaker 1: jump in.
- 53:13Speaker 6: And to be honest, I've got a hunch that not
- 53:15Speaker 6: only will the Warriors get the job done tonight, I
- 53:17Speaker 6: think Sean Johnson will score tonight, whether it's through his
- 53:20Speaker 6: own brilliance or someone gets through and then chuck them
- 53:22Speaker 6: the ball to score.
- 53:23Speaker 1: One last try.
- 53:24Speaker 5: Look, there you go.
- 53:25Speaker 6: If I was a bidding man, which I am by
- 53:28Speaker 6: the way, I'd be going Sean Johnson anytime, try scorer.
- 53:31Speaker 6: And if you want to want to win a one
- 53:33Speaker 6: hundred dollars bonus cash bit, tix ta B to three
- 53:36Speaker 6: four eight three right now.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Well there you go the curses in.
- 53:38Speaker 5: Yeah, now listen, I know this is a pretty chase.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I know this pretty addational bit. Responsibly.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Yeah man, I know this is a pretty emotional night
- 53:47Speaker 4: for you. Year huge Sean Johnson fan. And I've also
- 53:52Speaker 4: noticed and it's been slightly concerning me. You've been hitting
- 53:55Speaker 4: the bottle hard of late because of the emotional toll
- 53:58Speaker 4: that's having, Yeah, responsibly hard.
- 54:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I just want to make sure you're okay. Yeah.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Look, I think we're all going to miss Shawnee. You know,
- 54:10Speaker 1: it hasn't been his year on the paddock, but when
- 54:12Speaker 1: he has been on there, he's bloody good looking.
- 54:15Speaker 4: He's such a good looking I think people forget about that,
- 54:19Speaker 4: you know what I mean. Yeah, you can play a
- 54:21Speaker 4: bit of rugby league, but my god, you know, if
- 54:24Speaker 4: I was that way inclined, i'd go there.
- 54:28Speaker 1: So what's your take on tonight's game? Then? Other than that,
- 54:30Speaker 1: you do sew Johnson.
- 54:32Speaker 5: Look, as I said during the week, I think that
- 54:36Speaker 5: the Warrior is going to take it out.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:38Speaker 5: I don't know what the weather's like up in Auckland.
- 54:40Speaker 5: I need to be fine. Yeah, I think it's a
- 54:42Speaker 5: nice day, so dry track, fellows.
- 54:45Speaker 4: I'm picking a Warrior's victory to send the gorgeous Sean
- 54:49Speaker 4: Johnson off in style beautiful.
- 54:52Speaker 1: I'm picking the same though. I don't know, man, I'm
- 54:54Speaker 1: just going to watch the game. I'm not picking it
- 54:56Speaker 1: either way.
- 54:57Speaker 6: I just want him to score a try the fans
- 54:59Speaker 6: to get him behind him and everyone have a great
- 55:01Speaker 6: night at Shaw Johnson Stadium because it's the one and
- 55:03Speaker 6: only time it will be named that.
- 55:04Speaker 1: It's pretty buddy, but yeah, go you great man.
- 55:07Speaker 5: In the meantime, here's hot.
- 55:09Speaker 4: Chat Acky Big Show podcast listened to in Kings of Leon.
- 55:14Speaker 5: There on the radio, ho Lucky Big Show.
- 55:16Speaker 4: There's Friday Evening live from being Van in beautiful Wellington City.
- 55:21Speaker 5: The second session has opened and as you can.
- 55:24Speaker 4: Probably hear in the background, there filled to the gunnals, follls, filled.
- 55:29Speaker 5: To the gunnals, filled to the brim.
- 55:31Speaker 1: I'd say, yeah, tip the brim.
- 55:32Speaker 5: Yeah, good good geezy.
- 55:33Speaker 6: Of course, there are over three hundred different beers on
- 55:36Speaker 6: tap here at Beavannah and there are still some tickets
- 55:38Speaker 6: available tomorrow, so go to be Avanna dot co dot
- 55:40Speaker 6: ins in. And also he's chanted to Ryan who's a
- 55:43Speaker 6: businesses He said there excepting walkins tomorrow. Yes, so if
- 55:46Speaker 6: you're missing out, if you have a bit of fomo,
- 55:48Speaker 6: just show up tomorrow and you should be able to
- 55:50Speaker 6: get in.
- 55:50Speaker 1: But right now, as for usual, it's time for.
- 55:57Speaker 5: We're up. That was all right, fellers, that's pretty good. Yeah,
- 56:05Speaker 5: that's not bad, well done. What are we looking at that?
- 56:08Speaker 1: What's today's brewery of the day is?
- 56:10Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 56:11Speaker 1: Man, yeah, have you heard of Three Sisters Brewery?
- 56:15Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 56:15Speaker 6: My favorite brewery, same half yeah, no, yeah no, carry
- 56:20Speaker 6: on heaving with industry awards and an epic lineup of
- 56:22Speaker 6: delicious drops.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Three Sisters Brewery will be making their return to be
- 56:26Speaker 1: a bunner this year. That's now.
- 56:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:28Speaker 1: They're literally here in the building with wow, wow, pretty crazy.
- 56:31Speaker 6: The outstanding husband and wife team Joe and Sarah have
- 56:33Speaker 6: been brewing up a storm from the old TSP building
- 56:35Speaker 6: and you plumouth and a short to delight you. The
- 56:38Speaker 6: punters were a tasty sip or two cats. Three Sisters
- 56:41Speaker 6: Brewery had been banner right now today aspiring.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Wow, how good have you had that before? What do
- 56:47Speaker 1: you Jane?
- 56:47Speaker 5: What's that? Mate?
- 56:48Speaker 1: Three Sisters? Have you ever had Three Sisters? Man?
- 56:51Speaker 4: Um?
- 56:54Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was plenty good. It was really impressive.
- 56:58Speaker 1: That'll be our highlight, wouldn't. I mean, if you've never
- 57:01Speaker 1: if you've never tried it, have you never tried Three Sisters?
- 57:04Speaker 5: If you've never tried Three Sisters, definitely give it a crack.
- 57:07Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, mate?
- 57:08Speaker 1: Yeah, how did you manage? Well?
- 57:11Speaker 4: Look, you know, I'm one of those guys that will
- 57:13Speaker 4: give everything a bit of a nudge, you know what
- 57:15Speaker 4: I'm saying.
- 57:16Speaker 5: Speaking of which, Keasy just before and I was a
- 57:20Speaker 5: little bit confused, was asking me if i'd be as
- 57:23Speaker 5: wingmen tonight. I don't. I don't know what a wing
- 57:27Speaker 5: man is. Can someone can maybe pack sound?
- 57:30Speaker 6: I mean what a wing man is, Jace is I'm
- 57:33Speaker 6: pretty keen to have a massive a fear tonight and
- 57:34Speaker 6: blow up this great marriage I've got, all right, And
- 57:37Speaker 6: I was like, look, I've been Wellington, I'm in a
- 57:39Speaker 6: different city. Why not just everything I've built the last
- 57:42Speaker 6: twelve years? Why did I just throw all that away
- 57:44Speaker 6: and get you to help me do it?
- 57:45Speaker 1: Good ship man?
- 57:47Speaker 4: Okay, So like if it looks like you know it
- 57:51Speaker 4: could happen, I hoy, Jay's your wingman.
- 57:53Speaker 1: Well you're the man. You're the man for the job,
- 57:55Speaker 1: because I've watched you do it a thousand times and
- 57:57Speaker 1: we're on the road.
- 57:58Speaker 5: Your wingman, you know, like have a fears and stuff?
- 58:01Speaker 5: All right?
- 58:02Speaker 1: Guy for the chop?
- 58:05Speaker 5: I mean, Kezy, I mean, if that's what you want
- 58:08Speaker 5: to happen.
- 58:08Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I've got some moral.
- 58:12Speaker 5: Issues with it, but you know, if that's what you want.
- 58:15Speaker 1: My issues aren't moral. It's more of a practical obstacle
- 58:18Speaker 1: that Keysy is going to face out there in the
- 58:20Speaker 1: bars around Well you know what I'm saying.
- 58:22Speaker 4: Well, we had we had the improvisation yesterday, have the
- 58:25Speaker 4: pick up scenes, see, and it didn't go well for Keezy.
- 58:28Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I think I'll go a bitter tonight.
- 58:29Speaker 6: But that does make sense now why you wanted to
- 58:31Speaker 6: do that, And it wasn't at all just for a
- 58:35Speaker 6: bit of fun radio content. Was because I want to
- 58:38Speaker 6: have I'm having it tonight. And if I wanted to
- 58:41Speaker 6: have it like a stable relationship, I'm obviously go to
- 58:44Speaker 6: Mokey for advice. Yeh yeah, but I want to blow everything.
- 58:47Speaker 6: I've got to smithereens hens why I came to you.
- 58:49Speaker 1: I'd be a good wing man, though, je do you
- 58:51Speaker 1: think so?
- 58:52Speaker 4: Well?
- 58:52Speaker 1: What you got to do is obviously Kezy will stumble
- 58:54Speaker 1: his way over to some lucky lady there and then
- 58:57Speaker 1: you've just got to come in and pump up Kesey's tires.
- 59:00Speaker 1: That's pretty much what it is.
- 59:01Speaker 5: What would you say? Stuff?
- 59:03Speaker 1: Would you say?
- 59:05Speaker 5: Actually, that's uh, I don't know that. I would be
- 59:08Speaker 5: very good at that, right, you know what I'm saying.
- 59:10Speaker 6: Well, how about this, Why don't you just do your
- 59:12Speaker 6: usual thing when you're having a fear and then and
- 59:16Speaker 6: then I'll just if they've got a friend, I'll just
- 59:17Speaker 6: chat to them.
- 59:19Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, this sounds good. Do you want it on this? Mokey?
- 59:22Speaker 1: No, I'm more good. Well you've got your yeah, I've
- 59:25Speaker 1: got my stable marriage. Yeah yeah, I'll keep that. But yeah,
- 59:28Speaker 1: you guys go ahead.
- 59:30Speaker 5: Okay, well good on you. You want to come along
- 59:31Speaker 5: pack son? Yeah, Pats is going to come with us.
- 59:34Speaker 5: Actually want need pugs there, won't we?
- 59:36Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 59:36Speaker 5: Well you know why?
- 59:38Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 59:38Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 59:38Speaker 5: Yeah yeah.
- 59:39Speaker 6: But can I also just give a big shout out
- 59:40Speaker 6: to Three Sisters Brewery today's brewery of.
- 59:42Speaker 2: The day, hold Ikey big show with Jason Hoyt, Mike
- 59:47Speaker 2: Minogue and Kesey.
- 59:56Speaker 5: We'll there you go your name, bastards. That's the big
- 59:59Speaker 5: show and adjusted this Friday night. Should we stay or
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: should we go?
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Fowls? Well, that is the big question, Jason. I know
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: what my answer to that question is going to be.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: Yeah, sure I'm gonna.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: Stay in case. Yeah, easy, I'll just tie things up
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: out here. Yeah, sure, and just sort of keep it
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: one things, hold down the ship.
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: Yeah, what are you up to tonight, Mogie.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Well there's a bit on, isn't it. Obviously the Warriors
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: are playing later on? Oh yeah, man, I mean to
