- 1:08Keri Croft: Badass.
- 1:10Keri Croft: Welcome to the Carrie Croft Show.
- 1:13Keri Croft: Well, Lindsay Fork, my friend, thanks for pulling up today.
- 1:17Keri Croft: Thank you.
- 1:17Keri Croft: And let's just, can we, do you want to just maybe talk just briefly about the emotional state we're in and why?
- 1:23Keri Croft: Because I feel like so many parents will feel seen.
- 1:26Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 1:26Keri Croft: So sh Lindsay came in just now and she was like, okay, I didn't wear mascara.
- 1:30Keri Croft: And she started talking and she's just broke down in tears.
- 1:32Keri Croft: And so her oldest left for cover.
- 1:35Keri Croft: Like, I don't even know.
- 1:36Keri Croft: Why am I crying?
- 1:36Keri Croft: Like, why am I emotional?
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Like every time somebody asks me, How are you doing?
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: That's when I break down.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: I'm like, just don't even ask me.
- 1:44Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 1:44Keri Croft: So it's like the heartbreak of a lot.
- 1:46Keri Croft: I mean, I can't like having a kid that's seven and a kid that's three, thinking about it.
- 1:51Keri Croft: Are we gonna be able to have this conversation?
- 1:53Keri Croft: Yes, you keep talking.
- 1:54Keri Croft: I'll I'll get better.
- 1:55Keri Croft: I like because now I'm gonna cry and then you're gonna cry.
- 1:57Keri Croft: Okay, so we'll just no, it's gonna be bad.
- 2:00Keri Croft: Exchange mob energy.
- 2:01Keri Croft: So I can't even imagine like letting that go, all of it.
- 2:05Keri Croft: That's crazy.
- 2:06Keri Croft: But then being so happy and excited when you first came in, you said, Well, she's not talking to me.
- 2:10Keri Croft: And I'm like, well, why?
- 2:11Keri Croft: And you're like, because she's busy.
- 2:12Keri Croft: And I'm like, well, that's good.
- 2:14Keri Croft: It is good.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: It's amazing because she's in such a great place.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: I'm so happy for her.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And I know she's so happy.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: And I've gotten to meet some of the friends that, you know, we've been, she's going to High Point University in North Carolina.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: You can read a lot about it online.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: It's just as amazing as everyone talks about.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Kurt and I would joke every time we were there, like, how do we go here?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: I joked with the move-in crew on the day that we moved in.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: I said, you know, you're moving me in too, right?
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And they all laughed because I think that's just a big parent joke there.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: It's like, how do we go here too?
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's fountains, there's classical music, there's just all this amazing, amazing stuff.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And she um, you know, she grew up playing volleyball and decided that she didn't want to pursue that in college at all, and reached out to the rowing, the crew coach, and decided on her own that she wanted to try something new.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: And so she's met all these great uh teammates that she's going to have.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And I've met them and their parents, and everything's so fantastic.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: And sh yeah, she's just busy.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: She's busy.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: And I think we talked about it before she went away.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Like, okay, are we gonna have a little like conversations?
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: So Sunday was the last day that we saw her.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Today's what?
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Wednesday?
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Feels like forever already.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I've talked to her like once on the phone for three minutes as she was going to erg, and we've shared a couple of text messages and that that's it.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And then I'm like a crazy person every morning.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: I'm checking her.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: I'm looking at life 360, and I'm like, oh, she's walking to Slayne, or now she's going back to McEwan.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, stop.
- 3:41Keri Croft: Yeah, but I mean it's gotta be so hard.
- 3:42Keri Croft: And I know so many parents out there can relate to that who are either just left or leaving right now, or like maybe even last year, whatever.
- 3:49Keri Croft: Right now is the time.
- 3:49Keri Croft: Like I want, I would love to hear the comment section, like from parents, because it is just one major heartbreak, right?
- 3:57Keri Croft: Bitter, bittersweet though.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Well, I thought I was just gonna do so well.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Cause again, like I'm I'm used to her being gone for a weekend, or I don't know, just I you tell yourself that you're gonna be okay, and then just moments hit you.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: And I think when we first got home, I was I was questioning myself because I'm like, I'm fine, I'm good, I'm good.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And my husband had gone upstairs because he said he wanted to change into athletic clothes or whatever we were gonna grill, and he was gone for a normal amount of time.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: And I just feel like I have this like sixth sense about things, and I'm like, he's been upstairs for a while, and I'm like, I wonder if he's doing okay.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: He came down and he looked like he had puffy eyes, and I'm like, Are you okay?
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And he was like, I just went and sat in her room and cried on her.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, You did?
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: And he's like, Yeah.
- 4:44Keri Croft: Okay, okay.
- 4:45Keri Croft: Yeah, and then also he's a stepdad.
- 4:47Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 4:47Keri Croft: Which that even like makes me love him that much more.
- 4:50Keri Croft: Damn it, Curtain.
- 4:51Keri Croft: I know.
- 4:51Keri Croft: I'm gonna start calling him Courtney.
- 4:53Keri Croft: I know.
- 4:53Keri Croft: That's so sweet.
- 4:54Keri Croft: God bless it.
- 4:55Keri Croft: You know, I will say this is a great way though to parlay into why it's so important to have a separate purpose.
- 5:03Keri Croft: Because think about, you know, you put all this stuff into your children and it's the most important thing in the world and it's your legacy, but then they're out the door.
- 5:10Keri Croft: And if you don't have something, you're like, what now?
- 5:12Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 5:12Keri Croft: You know what I mean?
- 5:13Keri Croft: Like, so you have this whole business that you've built in parallel, which is incredible, you know, that you can get back into and you have that.
- 5:19Keri Croft: But what what about the woman who doesn't?
- 5:21Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 5:21Keri Croft: You know, so it's it's like that's why build, you know, the community exists.
- 5:25Keri Croft: That's why, you know, anytime I can reach out and try to help pull somebody into like, do you have an idea?
- 5:30Keri Croft: Is it a seed?
- 5:30Keri Croft: Is it this little whisper?
- 5:32Keri Croft: Like you have to have a purpose outside in parallel.
- 5:35Keri Croft: Let's call it that, to raising your kids, right?
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, I've been, you know, the the functional medicine or the psychology part of everything that I've been thinking and feeling about her being gone.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: I've really been challenging myself internally where I'm like, okay, what are these motions about?
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Because they can't just be about you're a mom and you've maybe controlled your kid's life for 18 years and now they're gone and they're on their own.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And is this more about me?
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: This is more about me than it is about her actually being gone.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Because there's so many positive things about her doing what she's doing and about to embark.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: And so, like to try to get my emotions down and like regulate my brain function of what's going on.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: I'm like, this is kind of selfish in a way that you're feeling like this, and this is more about you, Lindsay, than it is about her being gone.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that makes sense.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: No, that's a very elevated way to look at it.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: I'm trying.
- 6:26Keri Croft: And, you know, I mean, maybe it's a bit of both, but for you to recognize that, you know, I don't think a lot of people probably even think that way to parse it out, you know.
- 6:34Keri Croft: But I also think like I love the stay-at-home parent too, because I know how important it is.
- 6:38Keri Croft: So I think it's just like if you have poured everything into your kids and you are at a moment where they're leaving and you feel empty or you feel like what now?
- 6:46Keri Croft: I would my guidance would be like find a community.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:49Keri Croft: You know, like brainstorm, sit with yourself, figure out what you can do now, because that's so, so important.
- 6:56Keri Croft: So you're not just this empty shell waiting for your kids to come home for holidays.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I think too, if you have other children at home, you know, Ava's our oldest, and I have two sons.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: One's going into seventh grade, he's 12, the other one's um nine going into fourth grade.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: And like I got to spend a lot of quality time with Anderson yesterday, and we went out on a two-mile run together.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: And because that was just like one of his goals going into soccer season and everything.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And so we went to Antrim Park and ran.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: And I think he could have smoked me and poor little kid, like he like kept up with you know, he was dragging his feet to keep to stay with me.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And I'm I mean, it was just a fun moment.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: And apparently he told Kurt later, he's like, I really had fun going out, run with you know, running with mom.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: I want to do that again this week.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, Oh, that's so I mean, there's gonna be positives from this, and just you know, talking to other parents that are in my business community that have, you know, their empty nesters now.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Every single parent that I have spoken to that has kind of helped prepare me for Ava going off has said how much fun it is when they're like, you'll never, you'll never forget the memories of when they were little, and that's all well and good.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: But the amount of fun you have with your kids as young adults and when they're 18 to 25 or after they've been out of the house and they come home.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, everyone raves about it.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: So I'm looking forward to it.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: This is making me feel better.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: So glad I didn't wear mascara, but I I feel better.
- 8:16Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 8:16Keri Croft: Well, I'm glad we'll have our own little therapy session in here together.
- 8:20Keri Croft: So let's talk a little bit about Biz.
- 8:23Keri Croft: Because, girl, you crush in it.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: You crush in it, girl.
- 8:26Keri Croft: What's going on?
- 8:27Keri Croft: Yeah, let's give us give us some like sound bites.
- 8:29Keri Croft: What's new?
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: What's popping?
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: You've opened, you've I think when I was here last October, um, we were getting ready to open what we call affectionately the Texas twins.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: So we opened Dallas and San Antonio, and we opened Orlando in January.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: We opened Charlotte this past spring, and in less than a month, we're opening Atlanta.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: So it'll be number 15 for Lux Redux.
- 8:52Keri Croft: That's insane.
- 8:53Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 8:53Keri Croft: Good for you.
- 8:54Keri Croft: So it's crazy.
- 8:55Keri Croft: Slow slow cloud.
- 8:56Keri Croft: Slow clap for you.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, me and the rest of my team.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it's been wild.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: We've been adding a lot of people to the team to help.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: I think we're at 150 plus employees now.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: So that's incredible.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: It's fun.
- 9:08Keri Croft: Congrats to you.
- 9:09Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 9:10Keri Croft: So what you know, having as you start to just have more and more units, you know, obviously your role changes.
- 9:16Keri Croft: Do you get more anxiety as you add, or are you kind of now like getting a rhythm where it's, I don't want to dumb it down to say it's plug and play because it's it's laborious no matter how you look at it, I'm sure.
- 9:26Keri Croft: But are you kind of like more confident with each one because you're getting the recipe dialed that much more?
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's a great question.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: I think I've said for a long time the hard part is not opening stores.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Like the physical part of opening a store and the whole, if you build it, they will come.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: That's it's not hard, I guess, for me, because we do have a pretty good formula down.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: I think what I'm going through right now that is so difficult is the proverbial letting go of the vine still and learning what kind of CEO I am, I am, or I'm supposed to be, trusting, you know, the rest of the team to take things on that I've always been so, so much a part of.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: That's been hard.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: But I would say that I'm really open and honest with my team about how involved I am or how involved I like to be.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: And they're, I think it's like baby steps.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: They're taking it slow with me.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: And I always bring up our core value of trust.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Like of our six core values, trustworthy is my number one.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: I tell them, like, if I can build trust with you and I know that you're gonna make decisions that are aligned with, you know, how I would go about making this, like you'll see me step back a lot faster.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: And the only way for me to build that trust with you is to have open communication, one of our other core values.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: So I feel like those two just go hand in hand.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: So if they're, you know, almost in the beginning overcommunicating with me and we're aligned and I'm learning from them, they're learning from me, then I'm gonna step back and like give them their space.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: You know, taking this sabbatical in August, I knew was going to be a test for not only myself, but for them.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: And I've been okay with it.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: I've dabbled on teams here and there.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: My kids are keeping me in line.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: If they even see me in my office, they're like, Mom, what are you doing?
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Like, are you on a Teams meeting?
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: How dare you! That happened yesterday.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: I I I was on a Teams meeting because I had to approve a floor plan for a new city for 2027.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: And my team member that I was teamsing with started laughing because Anderson was like, What are you doing?
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Are you working?
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, you're busted.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: I was busted.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: What are your other four core values?
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Trustworthy, trustworthy, service-minded with attention to detail, respectful, values communication.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Oh girl, you got it.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Hardworking.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Um I think that was six, wasn't it?
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: No, I'm missing one.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: I know I'm missing one.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Wait, start over.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: So you said trustworthy?
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Trustworthy, respectful, values communication, hardworking, service-minded with attention to detail.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Clearly, it must be number six for me.
- 11:51unknown: Shoot.
- 11:52Keri Croft: I love this moment right now.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: You know that some of the people in the company they have like they use an acronym to remember them, and I don't need to be.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Well, because that's a lot.
- 12:00Keri Croft: You have a lot.
- 12:00Keri Croft: We do.
- 12:01Keri Croft: We started with five.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: We started with five.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Clearly, you don't like the sixth one.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: We added in values communication because we realized there was uh Can you look it up?
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Is there anywhere?
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: No, I'm gonna think about it.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: Is there anywhere to think like randomly seven minutes from now, I'm gonna think about it.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Is it badassery, Lindsay?
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Because that would be mine.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: I'm sure it's not.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: No, there's a lot of moments where I'm like, we should we should add, you know, add another one.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna think of it.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: Lucky number seven.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: I'll help you with the seven, the seventh one.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Or we have the you'll like this one.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: It's uh I was in one of our stores within the last year, and I've talked about I've I've talked about this probably with the home office team a couple of times, but I was in one of the stores because I think I was in the city for a soccer tournament or something, and I always pop in on the teams and we were talking, and something came up about a another team member had left the organization, but they were saying that it was a good thing because they weren't a great core value fit.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, well, it's you know, it's great that you guys recognize that.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: And I'm glad that the team is gelling better and you guys are, you know, you're performing better.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: It seems like the atmosphere here is good.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, because I don't ever want to have to send like the no drama llama in your allocations box.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: And they go, wait, what?
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: They're like, what's that?
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, oh, I'm like, it's like a non-mascot mascot that's like in my head that I want to like kind of introduce.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: And they're like, a llama.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, yeah, it's the no drama llama.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: You know, like in services, restaurants, retail, I mean, there's just drama, and I hate it.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Like it's my least favorite part of what I have to deal with is when there's just unnecessary drama in the stores.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: And they're like, Well, we don't want the llama in our box.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, and I don't think you're gonna get it.
- 13:37Keri Croft: It's like you have like a real I got you want a real.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I want to get, you know, you know fancy, like the fancy stuffy brand Jelly Cat.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: I bet Jelly Cat has a llama.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: I bet I'm gonna find it.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: And then you put like a little thing on it, no drip system.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: So like if you get your allocations Thursday or Friday of the week from the DC warehouse and it's got the llama in it, like you know that we're watching and like something's going on in your store, and it better stop.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Actually, I've never talked about that publicly.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: No, but that is But I want it.
- 14:06Keri Croft: That is genius.
- 14:07Keri Croft: And that's really want it.
- 14:08Keri Croft: You should do that yesterday.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:10Keri Croft: It's so powerful, and it's like what a low drama way for you just to be like, We're watching.
- 14:15Keri Croft: Uh-huh.
- 14:16Keri Croft: I'm gonna get it for you if you don't get it for yourself.
- 14:18Keri Croft: I've got to find it.
- 14:18Keri Croft: God, that's it's a whole own like thing, the no drama llama.
- 14:22Keri Croft: Have you looked that up to see if anybody's like taking the drama?
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: No TM trademark, no time.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Oh shit, that's amazing.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: No one take that.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: No, no, I'm gonna go.
- 14:29Keri Croft: Leave us alone.
- 14:29Keri Croft: That's our idea.
- 14:30Keri Croft: That's that's our idea, okay?
- 14:32Keri Croft: Together.
- 14:33Keri Croft: That's amazing.
- 14:34Keri Croft: Jellycat, hit me up.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: I'm sure they're gonna be a good idea.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: She can be an influencer.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: She has a lot of time.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: So I don't remember your original question was It doesn't matter.
- 14:42Keri Croft: What's going on with work?
- 14:43Keri Croft: But yeah, I mean this is just a pull-up format.
- 14:46Keri Croft: This is like, I want to do more of these because I think it's like really cool to pop into somebody's world and brain like real time.
- 14:52Keri Croft: It's not some, you know, thing you have to prepare for it.
- 14:54Keri Croft: It's this whole like, you know, interview.
- 14:56Keri Croft: It's like, no, Lindsay's pulling up.
- 14:58Keri Croft: We're gonna chat for a minute about where she's at right now, and that's what we're doing.
- 15:02Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 15:02Keri Croft: You know what I mean?
- 15:02Keri Croft: So any what else?
- 15:03Keri Croft: Like, are you are you homemaking at all?
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Are you like called me Martha a couple of times?
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 15:08Keri Croft: I mean like what's your latest obsession in terms of that?
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Um, purging things out of the house.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: So, like, one thing I did do is so we got home Sunday night from North Carolina, and by golly, Monday, I was I was ripping through Ava's bedroom and bathroom, just doing the whole.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: I had an organizer come to our house once and I learned this organization acronym called Space, and it's sort, urge, assign, contain, and then I never remember what the E stands for.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: I assume the E is just some sort of maintenance that goes, but the S P A C is like the most important thing, and I do that a lot, and it's so helpful.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Say it again.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Sort, purge, so you sort you pull everything out and you sort it into like categories.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: You purge what you don't want, then you assign things to a certain area, and then you contain them in whatever container you're gonna use.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: I know I'm crazy.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: No, it's I went through the amount of times this summer.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Ava, I love you, I'm sure you'll listen to this, but the amount of times this summer that she told me she was in her room for three plus hours cleaning or organizing, and I believed her, is a lot.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And I went through all of her drawers, and she's never really been like an overly like girly girl, like make up this, like I've gotta get all done up.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: But the amount of shit I found from like Sephora and Alta and then like samples, and I'm like the amount of the girls, like this is a teenage thing, it's like their little gifts to each other, all those like Sol de Janeiro or the um scrubby things and the pots.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: I'm not kidding you.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: We have over 15 of those, and yes, a lot.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: So sorting, you know, that part.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: But I threw away like a garbage bag full of just crap and I I sent her a vlog because these kids don't they don't respond to text messages.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: So if you don't have Snapchat and you can't communicate with them through Snap, they vlog each other on Snap.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: That's how they communicate.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: So I did my best by sending her a vlog vlog via text, which she of course has still not responded to.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, this is all your stuff from the bathroom.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: Could you please tell me what is important to you that you'd still have to do that?
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: She's like, I'm out of here.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I'm a high point, honey.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: She doesn't care.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: She's free.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: I but my three minutes I got with her yesterday morning, I was like, hey, I was like, when you get time, do you think you could respond to my vlog, maybe with your own vlog, so I can see your face and just tell me what of this bathroom stuff you still want?
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: When you say vlog, are you you're just taking a video and sending it?
- 17:31Keri Croft: Yeah, okay.
- 17:32Keri Croft: Because you're that's you're using a fancy term there.
- 17:34Keri Croft: I'm like, okay, what is she doing?
- 17:35Keri Croft: Yeah, they call it a vlog.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: They call it vlogging.
- 17:37Keri Croft: So literally, there's I'm just sending you a video and sending it on your television.
- 17:40Keri Croft: Yeah, you know how you and I would text each other.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Well, instead of they don't they don't do that, they send a video and they talk or like I'm a fan of that.
- 17:47Keri Croft: I do that.
- 17:48Keri Croft: I do that on DM.
- 17:49Keri Croft: I do it like yesterday randomly.
- 17:51Keri Croft: There was a girl that I hadn't talked to for a long time.
- 17:53Keri Croft: She's been on the show.
- 17:54Keri Croft: I just sent her a video and she was like, that tickled.
- 17:56Keri Croft: She's like, that was the best.
- 17:58Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 17:58Keri Croft: It's like for our era or generation or whatever, it's like a a treat or it's like kind of weird.
- 18:03Keri Croft: You know, it's like this, oh, this person FaceTime.
- 18:05Keri Croft: So they've but I love doing that shit.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: I liked like when voice memos came out.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: That was my thing.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: And I haven't sent as many as I see.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: I audio.
- 18:14Keri Croft: I like to do that.
- 18:15Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 18:15Keri Croft: In fact, with Build, one of my like mental athleticism little, it's not even a, this isn't even like it's like a little surprise and delight that I will tell people is like I might do it after, like at the end of the show, is like tonight or tomorrow, I want you to think about someone who you deeply admire from afar.
- 18:31Keri Croft: They just pop up, like you, right?
- 18:33Keri Croft: So I'll see you here and there, and I'm watching what you're doing, and I I feel like I'm always rooting for you, and I'm I know what's what that's the great thing about social media though, right?
- 18:42Keri Croft: So use you as the example.
- 18:43Keri Croft: Let's say we hadn't talked for six months, but I saw, you know, data collecting.
- 18:47Keri Croft: Oh, she opened another store, her daughter's gone to so then I would say, think of that person, so that that would be you, and then send them an audio text and just tell them.
- 18:56Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 18:56Keri Croft: Like you don't have to take 20 minutes, but just tell them what you're thinking, what you're seeing out there, and tell them to keep moving and like what a badass they are.
- 19:04Keri Croft: Not and I don't want you to type it.
- 19:05Keri Croft: I want you just to say it.
- 19:06Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 19:06Keri Croft: Like on an audio text, you know, stuff like that.
- 19:09Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 19:09Keri Croft: It's like going, it's going above and beyond.
- 19:11Keri Croft: You know, but it's meaningful.
- 19:12Keri Croft: It's like if you're really truly doing it from a the good place, you can pump somebody up for an entire week from that.
- 19:19Keri Croft: Just from one, and you know that as an entrepreneur, all you need is like one good thing to happen in the midst of like 50 shitty things, and it will just like keep you going.
- 19:29Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 19:29Keri Croft: And that could be that audio text, you know, but people don't.
- 19:32Keri Croft: They want to gatekeep.
- 19:33Keri Croft: They want to, you know, I mean, not the comp, I think the confident real ones don't, but I think a lot of people don't even realize they're doing it.
- 19:39Keri Croft: Like they could admire and think, but to give the compliment outwardly to that person, I think there's something within people that makes it feel like they're taking something from themselves if they're if they're and it's just crazy, right?
- 19:51Keri Croft: Give it more.
- 19:52Keri Croft: Give it more when you feel it.
- 19:53Keri Croft: Don't be given the shitty fake stuff.
- 19:55Keri Croft: Like that is flat.
- 19:56Keri Croft: We can see through that a mile away because then you're just doing that to get something for yourself, like these flat, insincere things.
- 20:02Keri Croft: I'm talking like meaningful things that you notice out there from other people.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: And people need that.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: They, of course, do.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: And I think, yeah, I mean, just doing going the extra mile, again, going above and beyond.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: I think that's Arthur Cornelio.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Is it?
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, going above and beyond.

- 21:52Keri Croft: Hey Sylvia, do you want to come on in?
- 21:54Keri Croft: Were you were you curious whether or not you could come in?
- 21:57unknown: Yes.
- 21:57Keri Croft: I knew it.
- 21:58Keri Croft: I was like Sylvia's out there.
- 22:01Keri Croft: What are you late for?
- 22:03unknown: I forgot my wallet.
- 22:04unknown: And I had to go back for it.
- 22:05Keri Croft: No, I'm saying I think you and I already discussed that like there is no, there is no clock in, clock out around here, honey.
- 22:11Keri Croft: Well, I was late even though I was here one day.
- 22:12Keri Croft: Everyone's late on me today.
- 22:14Keri Croft: No, so Sylvia, who is like the salt of the earth gem, she's also extraordinarily hard on herself and very high strung.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: That'll lead you to great places.
- 22:23Keri Croft: It will, yeah, you know what?
- 22:24Keri Croft: I I agree with that.
- 22:26Keri Croft: And it will also cause major breakdowns if you don't harness it.
- 22:29Keri Croft: So that's one of the things we're working on with Sylvia because she has so many incredible qualities.
- 22:35Keri Croft: I see nothing but like to the moon for this one.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 22:38Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 22:38Keri Croft: But I knew she was out there like, okay, so she's like, oh man, am I making noise?
- 22:43Keri Croft: I'm sorry for existing right now.
- 22:44Keri Croft: She's she's recording.
- 22:47Keri Croft: But little does she know it doesn't matter because I love this uncut bullshit.
- 22:52Keri Croft: So you're welcome.
- 22:52Keri Croft: Oh, he took our chairs, by the way.
- 22:54Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 22:54Keri Croft: So that's another thing we need to go get like some IKEA chairs or whatever.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: We named our little bunny that we got in Greece, Sylvia.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: You got a bunny in Greece?
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we were walking around and found this little woodworking shop and the woodworkers.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: No, the woodworkers' mother-in-law crochets, and she had all these cute little stuffies.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: And there was this bunny, and it just like caught me.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: And Kurt's like, Really?
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: Like, that's what you want?
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, Yeah, I want this little bunny.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: And then got her home, and her name is Sylvia.
- 23:21Keri Croft: Oh my god, that's great.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: And everyone's like, Why did you pick that name?
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I don't know.
- 23:25Keri Croft: She just felt like where does the bunny like where does the bunny exist in your home?
- 23:29Keri Croft: It sits on our bed.
- 23:30Keri Croft: That's so cute.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: But she like matches our bed.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: Like she's gray and white and she has a little black bow right here.
- 23:35Keri Croft: I bet your house is pristine.
- 23:37Keri Croft: It's pretty clean.
- 23:38Keri Croft: I bet it's pristine.
- 23:39Keri Croft: I hope to be invited there someday.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: You can yeah, I could do a still waiting for that in the We put the house together like it was going to be an entertaining house, but we've just been so busy that we really haven't entertained there that much.
- 23:51Keri Croft: I'm not, I'm easy to entertain.
- 23:52Keri Croft: I just come over, I kick my feet up, you make me a homemade margarita, and then I'm pretty much good.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: I don't need a lot.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: I thought I'm like, maybe I should have brought like a espresso martini for the morning because I was I picked the 945.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you did.
- 24:06Keri Croft: You were ready to go.
- 24:07Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 24:08Keri Croft: What else, real time?
- 24:09Keri Croft: Anything top of mind, anything that you want to put out into the universe right now to the ears that are just waiting to see what you're gonna say next.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: Just out here living on my sabbatical.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: I yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, sabbaticals are interesting because I don't think that there's any like right or wrong.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: I went and I think I was overly prepared for it.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: I started talking about it back in January, February with the rest of the team, sent out an email to everyone in the spring so that they could start thinking like, okay, what do I need from Lindsay?
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: What do I want from Lindsay before she leaves in August?
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: And now I feel like I'm it's not that I'm not relaxed.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: I think I'm relaxed and I think I'm doing okay, but I have all these, of course, goals of things that I want to get done in the month of August.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: And now, since we're on the second half of the month, it feels a little bit like a ticking time bomb where I'm, you know, killing myself.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Like, did I get this done?
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Did I get this done?
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: I'm going back and looking at my list and I'm like, okay, when am I gonna do?
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: So you're it's a double-edged sword.
- 25:06Keri Croft: Okay, okay.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: I said I would read a book.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: I'm reading a book.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: What is it?
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: Might chop his name, Abor Mate in the realm of hungry ghosts.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: It's about addiction.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: So it's not like it's yeah, it's pretty Yeah.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: What led you to that book?
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Um, I he has a lot of really great like medical and psychology books.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: And I've always heard like a lot of his books are bestsellers and in the realm of hungry ghosts, probably came up around the time that I was doing the psychedelic journey stuff.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: I had just heard a lot about him and about his book, but it's really interesting.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: It goes through it's it goes through all of his care of patients that he had in what's called the downtown east side of Vancouver.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: And just I guess taking addiction, drug addiction specifically, and making it more human and allowing these people to like live in a space together and take care of one another and not judge.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: And I don't know, it's it's just really interesting.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: It's interesting to hear about there's definitely common denominators on how they got into cocaine, heroin, so many things.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, it it's sad.
- 26:03Keri Croft: I mean it's the biggest one.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: The biggest sadness.
- 26:06Keri Croft: Common common denominator.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: Like, is it mostly especially for the women eaten and raped as a young child, neglected?
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: It's sad.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's it's interesting how the one theme that I have found so far, and I'm I'm probably it's a it's a big book.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Chapter five or chapter six, the one theme is he tells all these stories of all of these addicts is how actually intelligent they are, so smart in the way they speak to him when they're on their methadone, or they're not actually using in the moment, like how creative they are, how artistic.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: So many of them are poets and the stuff that they write, or just how they see him as somebody that's trying to help them, but then how quickly they turn, obviously, when they're using, it's fascinating.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: So worth the read.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: A hundred percent.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: In the realm of hungry ghosts.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 26:56Keri Croft: Do you think you'll ever do another journey?
- 26:58Keri Croft: Or are you good?
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: You know, I I think for I would definitely do another one for me, since I did God, it's been like six years now.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: For me, it's timing.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: It's just timing.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: It's timing like with anything.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: Like if somebody was like, hey, let's get out of town, it's finding the time to be like, okay, I have to dedicate, you know, especially knowing what I know now about doing a journey.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: I would want to prepare properly for going into it and then give my give myself time after.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: Like that's what I didn't realize is giving myself time after to off of all of that journal about it and not immediately get sucked back into the real world with everything that I have going on and that we have going on.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: It's in some ways, it almost feels irresponsible.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Not the actual journey or because it's drugs or anything like that, but it personally feels irresponsible to, or maybe I'm thinking it's selfish to take that time away for me to go and do something like that and feel like I should give myself that time to like process everything.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: Cause it is.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: It's like you really want to process all of that.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, what's the point?
- 28:00Keri Croft: Is it really selfish though?
- 28:02Keri Croft: Like, what if that's an unlock to like an even another stair step for Lindsay, you know?
- 28:07Keri Croft: Right.
- 28:07Keri Croft: But that's we're so I feel like that's such a common thing.
- 28:10Keri Croft: Like I'm always questioning am I being selfish?
- 28:13Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 28:13Keri Croft: Am I there's always guilt about anything surrounding like the career or the self or why is that?
- 28:20Keri Croft: It's a female thing in this.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: It's a female thing because you want to give.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: Like it's that motherly instinct or just that female, like you, you're wanting to give, give, give to other people all the time.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: We take time to go on vacation or I don't know.
- 28:34Keri Croft: Well, you'll know if and when.
- 28:35Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 28:35Keri Croft: If and when it's right.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: I think you want to go with whether you do it alone or you do it with a group too.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: It's like you want to find your people that you're gonna go and do that with.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: And I think, I mean, I've talked to Kurt about it a lot.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, I would, I would love to go do one with him.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: That would be that's that's probably a bucket list thing.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:52Keri Croft: I have a feeling you'll cross off everything on your bucket list.
- 28:55Keri Croft: Something tells me.
- 28:56Keri Croft: It's still growing.
- 28:56Keri Croft: Well, I love you.
- 28:57Keri Croft: I love you too.
- 28:58Keri Croft: I'm really happy you came in.
- 28:59Keri Croft: And I want you to come in anytime you want.
- 29:01Keri Croft: I love it.
- 29:01Keri Croft: I'm gonna do that shirt too.
- 29:03Keri Croft: You know, okay, can we talk about where I got this?
- 29:04Keri Croft: I love, I love that.
- 29:06Keri Croft: I got it on a TikTok shop.
- 29:07Keri Croft: No, you did not.
- 29:08Keri Croft: Yes, I did.
- 29:08Keri Croft: Isn't it cute?
- 29:09Keri Croft: It's so cute.
- 29:10Keri Croft: On TikTok shop.
- 29:11Keri Croft: I'm like, oh my, because I have like dabbled, I've I'm not afraid of the Instagram and the TikTok purchase, but I've had a couple bombs and then a couple that I was like really pleased with.
- 29:20Keri Croft: And this one, I was like, this is cute.
- 29:22Keri Croft: She's cute.
- 29:23Keri Croft: I've been kind of wearing the shit out of it though.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: See, I haven't seen you in it.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: Isn't that another thing?
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: Sorry, I know we're trying to wrap up here.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: But like the whole thing, I really battle with this, I think, with Instagram and social media and all of our events and everything is always feeling like you have to wear something new that not everybody has seen you in.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: See, I don't even care.
- 29:41Keri Croft: Like, if you look at this, this is on my TikTok.
- 29:44Keri Croft: Like, it's on shit way too much.
- 29:45Keri Croft: And I when I went to put it on today, I was like, okay, you're good with this.
- 29:48Keri Croft: And then I was like, I don't care.
- 29:49Keri Croft: Like, this is what I want to wear today.
- 29:51Keri Croft: I don't, and so I just kind of like, but I have a different, like, you're more elegant and polished and like CEO-like.
- 29:57Keri Croft: So you kind of have to, you know what I'm saying?
- 29:59Keri Croft: I'm just more of a dirtbag over here, just like wearing whatever the fuck I want.
- 30:02Keri Croft: Rip jeans, cussing.
- 30:04Keri Croft: But we both work, you know, it works.
- 30:06Keri Croft: Speaking of style and whatever, what are the trends?
- 30:09Keri Croft: What are the like the main bridal trends right now that are like have you like are sending you?
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: Well, I think everything's, I mean, what goes around comes around in bridal, and it's going back to the 90s, of course.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, we're we're starting to see the the poofiness again.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, the basque waist is still in.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's the great thing about bridal is that trends don't turn over as much as they do in ready-to-wear fashion.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: So when basque waist came out three or four years ago, like it's still a thing.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: Like everyone's doing that V-waist that we saw in the 80s and 90s, but modernizing it, of course.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: But now we're starting to see the like the bubble hems again, where it's like a lot of pickups, and I'm like, oh God, I hope we don't go with like the actual, like very symmetrical pickup everywhere because that was hard, very cupcakey.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean, just it's you just look at your watch every like eight years-ish, and it's like going to come around again.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: So it's not.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna come try, I'm gonna just continue how old I get.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: I just love to put those dresses on.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: I know it's fun.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: I haven't put a dress on in a while.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: I feel like I'm getting too old for that.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: No, you just gotta try it.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: I go to market now and they think Mar Mary, our social media content coordinator that tries on all of our stuff and does all of our videos.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: They they think she's my daughter.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: That happened like two seasons ago, and now everyone's like, Oh, is this your daughter?
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: And I was because they know I have a daughter.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: But then they think Mary's my daughter, and I'm like, well, and we're here.
- 31:24Keri Croft: And we're here.
- 31:24Keri Croft: You know what I should do is come in and try the mother of the bride gowns.
- 31:27Keri Croft: Oh, it would be hilarious.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: The Facebookers will go after you really because you're cute and young and you're not old enough to be a mother of the bride or mother of the groom.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: They Mary had me do it last year when we did our first Mother of the Bride evening wear event.
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: I tried on the evening wear stuff, and I got trashed on Facebook from the Facebook moms.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: They were like, She's too skinny to be a mom.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: She's too like young looking to be a mom.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I'll take those compliments all day.
- 31:53Keri Croft: Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 31:54Keri Croft: I'm like just wait a minute.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: I'm like, where are we at with this whole like body like so body shaming can only go one way, right?
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: Like the body shaming and like the ageism and everything, it can only seriously go one way.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: It's for it to be really a problem because listen, come for me and tell me how skinny I am.
- 32:09Keri Croft: Now, now I really want to do this because I need some compliments from the Facebook community.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Just tell me how young and we are always looking for models for our mother of the bride evening stuff.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: So next time they're gonna video, I'm gonna be like, call Carrie, she'll come over and do it.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: That would be amazing.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: You know, you've got to do the whole I'll do it.
- 32:24Keri Croft: I'll play it.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: I know, you'll judge it.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'll sachet Shantae, baby.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: The Instagram people are mostly nice.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: The TikTok people are pretty okay.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: It's the it's the Facebookers because those are actually like the moms and the grandmas that are watching the videos and they have stuff to say about those dresses, whether it's the bridal gowns or the mom's dresses, they just they have a lot to say.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: That's good for you.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: Because they're on they're on their Facebook all day long.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: Nothing.
- 32:50Keri Croft: Let them keep talking because it's really good for Le Jumelle.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: It's really good for the algorithm.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's good for my next look.
- 32:56Keri Croft: Keep talking, ladies.
- 32:57Keri Croft: Keep chopping it up there.
- 32:59Keri Croft: Well, I appreciate you.
- 33:00Keri Croft: I do hope you can come to this IRL.
- 33:02Keri Croft: So can you let me know?
- 33:03Keri Croft: Like, we'll just push back our journey, you know?
- 33:06Keri Croft: Because then you can be one of the baddies.
- 33:07Keri Croft: I would love for you to be in a what does it mean to be a baddie on the IRL?
- 33:10Keri Croft: So you, okay, so okay, did you see did you happen to see my post yesterday, the real, the like recap?
- 33:15Keri Croft: Okay.
- 33:15Keri Croft: I haven't been on the city.
- 33:16Keri Croft: Okay, so go sometime today.
- 33:17Keri Croft: She did a really great job of like capturing the night.
- 33:20Keri Croft: Basically, I picked seven of my faves and I said, here's why I think you're interesting.
- 33:25Keri Croft: I get with you personally and say what's relevant to you right now in your life.
- 33:29Keri Croft: And then I give a couple questions.
- 33:31Keri Croft: So you kind of know, like, I don't want to put you on the spot in front of a room full of people, but we do a couple like of the longer questions, and then I'll do like some hot seat stuff.
- 33:39Keri Croft: So you'll be on this in the seat for maybe seven minutes.
- 33:42Keri Croft: Okay.
- 33:42Keri Croft: And then you're in the audience, and it's super relaxed and comfortable.
- 33:46Keri Croft: Like, I promote people like yelling out, asking one girl who was crying, stood up and cried.
- 33:50Keri Croft: She she's like one of my favorites.
- 33:51Keri Croft: Now I didn't even know her.
- 33:52Keri Croft: And I met her there and she was crying about her daughter, and people were heckling and yelling.
- 33:56Keri Croft: It's really fun.
- 33:57Keri Croft: And it just felt like a cocoon of friends hanging out in a big living room.
- 34:00Keri Croft: And so it's like not like you're on a panel, like, you know, this is Lindsay Fork, and she none of that shit.
- 34:06Keri Croft: It's like, how do you relate to me in the audience who is trying my best to get through life and to build my empire, whatever that is?
- 34:14Keri Croft: Is that in my between my two ears?
- 34:16Keri Croft: Is it my family?
- 34:17Keri Croft: Is it a business?
- 34:18Keri Croft: Am I crushing corporate?
- 34:20Keri Croft: And there's just something like the through line is badassery.
- 34:23Keri Croft: And so you dress like I kind of would prep people before, and I sent some emails kind of letting people know like the expectations.
- 34:30Keri Croft: I'm like, yes, there will be no table with name tags, so remember names.
- 34:34Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 34:34Keri Croft: There will be no asynchronous bullshit where you're taking notes that you're never gonna read again.
- 34:38Keri Croft: You this is about you as more than the person who's on stage, really.
- 34:42Keri Croft: And I want you to come in your Sunday best.
- 34:44Keri Croft: And when I say Sunday best, I So we are getting fancy.
- 34:47Keri Croft: Well, no.
- 34:47Keri Croft: So see, this is what this is why I had why I had to break it down.
- 34:49Keri Croft: There's nuance.
- 34:50Keri Croft: I explained what my Sunday best is.
- 34:52Keri Croft: Right.
- 34:52Keri Croft: I'm like, you're gonna see me either in ripped jeans or some kind of denim with an edge.
- 34:56Keri Croft: Like, that's my Sunday best.
- 34:58Keri Croft: If you love fringe, if you wear really red lipstick, if that's your signature, if you are someone who loves gingham, like whatever your Sunday best is, I want you come and correct and to play that game.
- 35:08Keri Croft: People got it.
- 35:09Keri Croft: They were dialed, but they were all dialed in their own way.
- 35:12Keri Croft: I love that.
- 35:12Keri Croft: And like all these different women, it was just this eclectic, beautiful, badass energy.
- 35:18Keri Croft: And I will tell you, like, you don't know if something's gonna hit when you're doing it for the first time.
- 35:22Keri Croft: And I did the whole thing basically by myself.
- 35:23Keri Croft: I mean, I was like up at night at 3 a.m.
- 35:25Keri Croft: looking at the ceiling, going, You have to cancel this.
- 35:27Keri Croft: Oh, who are you to do this?
- 35:29Keri Croft: This live event.
- 35:30Keri Croft: Like, this is you know, you the the imposter syndrome, right?
- 35:32Keri Croft: Oh, yeah.
- 35:33Keri Croft: And then I have the thankfully this other side, it's like your motherfucking carry cross.
- 35:37Keri Croft: Like that that's what you have to say to yourself, right?
- 35:39Keri Croft: You have to look in the mirror and say, I am a badass.
- 35:42Keri Croft: And you know, that's what people do in the beginning where no one's, you know, you have to pump yourself up.
- 35:46Keri Croft: So I knew I wasn't gonna cancel it.
- 35:48Keri Croft: And I'm like, well, this is either gonna sink or swim.
- 35:50Keri Croft: And it swam.
- 35:51Keri Croft: Like the feedback has been so insane.
- 35:54Keri Croft: This was the one that was Jackie and Malika.
- 35:57Keri Croft: They were all so uh Malika, and they're the official sponsor now, so they're gonna do every IRL and like transform the space and kind of show what they can do.
- 36:04Keri Croft: They're so talent.
- 36:06Keri Croft: They were amazing.
- 36:07Keri Croft: They were Aiden and Grace, talk about surprise and delight.
- 36:10Keri Croft: This sign is from them.
- 36:11Keri Croft: They made that for me just because they crushed it.
- 36:14Keri Croft: Their team, I can't say enough about them, but it was Lisa Hinkleman from Rocks, who she's a freaking rock star, Kim Shepard, Tracy Richardson, she's Paul and Joe, Pebby Liz Hazlip, who owns Pebby for Evy, Reagan Walsh.
- 36:28Keri Croft: Great people.
- 36:28Keri Croft: Malika.
- 36:29Keri Croft: There was one more.
- 36:29Keri Croft: See, now I'm gonna do this.
- 36:30Keri Croft: Now I'm gonna forget.
- 36:31Keri Croft: No.
- 36:32Keri Croft: No, now I have to remember.
- 36:33Keri Croft: How am I forgetting?
- 36:34Keri Croft: Anyone?
- 36:34Keri Croft: They were all so amazing.
- 36:35Keri Croft: Oh, of course.
- 36:36Keri Croft: Hello, Krista Guigenny from Panacea.
- 36:39Keri Croft: Okay.
- 36:39Keri Croft: She's amazing.
- 36:40Keri Croft: So, um, and I'm not gonna announce the people, the baddies yet.
- 36:44Keri Croft: Do you do it here?
- 36:44Keri Croft: Uh downstairs.
- 36:45Keri Croft: Downstairs, yeah.
- 36:46Keri Croft: Like I clear the whole place out, we transform it.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: I know I saw stuff on social media.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: I think we were opening Charlotte when you did it before.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: Something.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: Was it in the spring?
- 36:54Keri Croft: It was April, yep.
- 36:55Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 36:55Keri Croft: We were that's and then this content studio will be live again.
- 36:57Keri Croft: So all the people would like this spring, they would circle up.
- 37:00Keri Croft: My brother was in here and he was facilitating.
- 37:02Keri Croft: So he would ask, and it was like gonna be we're doing Mother's Day content for Donatos, like sponsored by Donatos, because they're like a main sponsor of mine now.
- 37:09Keri Croft: And I'm their chief influencer officer.
- 37:11Keri Croft: So still waiting for my cue.
- 37:13Keri Croft: But that's another conversation.
- 37:14Keri Croft: And so he was up here and like the girls were getting loose, you know, kind of talking about different things about being moms, and then like we were talking about what a badass means to you.
- 37:22Keri Croft: So there'll be things about it that are different this time, but I'm gonna keep the recipe very similar, just redo it.
- 37:27Keri Croft: I mean, it really turned out, and people were just over the moon about it because it was just such a unique experience.
- 37:33Keri Croft: You're not getting that.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: No, and Columbus needs that.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, women need that.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: I think there's so much competitiveness and not enough support.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: And this feels like very sort of and very like lift uplifting.
- 37:45Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 37:46Keri Croft: And it's and it's unique because the idea of the build community isn't one lane.
- 37:51Keri Croft: It's basically badassery, mental athleticism, and business strategy all melded together.
- 37:58Keri Croft: And you're it's just, and I'm like mental athleticism is my thing that I created, right?
- 38:03Keri Croft: So it comes from my life and like how I was able to continue to do these hard things and build.
- 38:08Keri Croft: And so I kind of put that out into the world, like this is what it is to be mentally athletic.
- 38:12Keri Croft: So now when you come into this group, you are gonna be challenged in different ways.
- 38:16Keri Croft: And like you can tell some people have two left feet on certain things, right?
- 38:19Keri Croft: So like there's physical, there's a little bit of physical.
- 38:21Keri Croft: Like I have garage workouts at five in the morning.
- 38:24Keri Croft: I have the move in mind.
- 38:25Keri Croft: Those are kind of the walk and talks.
- 38:27Keri Croft: People are used to like a business, like, oh, I'm gonna move my business forward.
- 38:30Keri Croft: I'm like, yes, you are, and we're gonna work on mental athleticism.
- 38:34Keri Croft: We're gonna work on your what is your authentic badassery.
- 38:37Keri Croft: And so it taps into like a really cool, you know, it's it's multifaceted and it's unique.
- 38:42Keri Croft: And it's really this this first group of women have been so great, so great.
- 38:46Keri Croft: It's so much fun.
- 38:47Keri Croft: I can't believe I'm doing this every day.
- 38:49Keri Croft: Like I can't.
- 38:50Keri Croft: Like yesterday, like I started my day with a walk and talk at Antrim.
- 38:52Keri Croft: And we just we go and whoever can make it makes it, and we chop it up.
- 38:55Keri Croft: And there's no boilerplate, like I'm like, hear ye, hear ye.
- 38:59Keri Croft: Today, today, women, we are going to talk about what it means to look at your PL.
- 39:04Keri Croft: No.
- 39:04Keri Croft: Like, no, we actually ended up talking about marriage, uh, divorce, how women work in the world today versus you know, how they did.
- 39:12Keri Croft: We were talking about like very expansive things.
- 39:14Keri Croft: I just go off of where people are in the moment.
- 39:17Keri Croft: And that's kind of what I like about these pull-ups, right?
- 39:19Keri Croft: It's like, where are you in the moment and what's relevant?
- 39:22Keri Croft: Because let's talk about it, but then also let's let make that person who's listening to you feel seen, heard, less alone, entertained.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: You know, it is so holistic.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, you're not waking up every day and just going through a formula, like you just never know what's going to happen.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: You don't know what other things you have going on in your life that has nothing to do with work.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: And so makes sense.
- 39:41Keri Croft: No, I'm excited.
- 39:42Keri Croft: I'm taking 10 new women after the IRL.
- 39:44Keri Croft: So we've got, I think by 2027, we'll have maybe 30 in the build community.
- 39:49Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 39:49Keri Croft: And it's really quality over quantity for me.
- 39:51Keri Croft: Yes.
- 39:51Keri Croft: No drama llama is big.
- 39:53Keri Croft: I might actually have to, if with your permission, I may have to, you know, hopefully I'm picking people who are loaded like so far so good.
- 39:59Keri Croft: What would be drama for you in a group like that?
- 40:01Keri Croft: Like, so he I will tell you, like, when I was creating this and when I made the decision, like, this is what I'm going to do, I'm gonna build this first before I even think about doing any kind of like brick and mortar or flagship or like a build.
- 40:14Keri Croft: You know, that could happen, maybe, maybe not.
- 40:16Keri Croft: But I'm like, let's build it this way.
- 40:18Keri Croft: And my biggest con on my con list is the worst case scenario in my mind of dealing with a group of women, which would be cattiness, competitiveness, um, you know, talking negatively, creating a space of drama is like my biggest fear in this thing.
- 40:35Keri Croft: Now, we're all human beings.
- 40:37Keri Croft: There's gonna be things, there's ways to handle it, there's ways to have conversation.
- 40:41Keri Croft: But I feel like that's back on me to use my intuition and my discernment around picking the people who I know like have the same sort of values, right?
- 40:51Keri Croft: And and want, you know, want the same things and want to walk this path.
- 40:54Keri Croft: So so far, I mean, and again, it's the first group, it's been incredible.
- 40:57Keri Croft: Yeah, you know, you're gonna have that here and there.
- 40:58Keri Croft: But I think as long as And then they go on.
- 41:01Keri Croft: Yeah, you know, that happens.
- 41:02Keri Croft: Yeah, right.
- 41:03Keri Croft: You know, because I just I'm not life is way too short.
- 41:05Keri Croft: And there's way too much fun to be had.
- 41:07Keri Croft: There's way too much really cool shit to do together than to let all that stuff get in the way.
- 41:11Keri Croft: It's like move, you know, move it aside.
- 41:13Keri Croft: Right, love.
- 41:14Keri Croft: So that's that.
- 41:15Keri Croft: Lovesies.
- 41:16Keri Croft: All right, Lindsay Fork, ladies and gentlemen.
- 41:18Keri Croft: I mean, if you don't know, you need to know.
- 41:20Keri Croft: Look her up.
- 41:21Keri Croft: If you know anyone who's getting married, send them to her store, but they're probably already going there because she's absolutely dominating the bridal industry.
- 41:28Keri Croft: Did you like that one for a clothes?
- 41:29Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 41:30Keri Croft: All right.
- 41:30Keri Croft: If you're still out there following your girl, follow me on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, or wherever you get your podcast.
- 41:35Keri Croft: And until next time, keep moving, baby.
