- 0:54I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 0:55Anderson, and joining me today is is Tiffany Fletcher of our Women warriors of Light Advisory Board.
- 1:02And today we're diving into the biblical and personal reality of dreams as a gift of the Spirit.
- 1:10First, Tiffany is going to share her life changing teacup dream, a beautiful lesson on how God mends and uses our broken pieces.
- 1:19Second, I'll share a repetitive dream I had about my son Nathan and how God used it to teach me about the eternal nature of our relationships.
- 1:29Third, we're going to give you a practical test for discernment, how to tell the difference between a dream from God and an icky dream from the adversary.
- 1:38And finally, we'll talk about the surrender principle, why dreams often come to us when we might be at our busiest or most tired.
- 1:48But first, we're going to have Tiffany kick us off with answering that question.
- 1:53Can God speak to me through dreams?
- 1:56I absolutely believe that God can speak to us through dreams.
- 1:59And as a matter of fact, he speaks to me often through my dreams and he gives me pieces of advice or words of wisdom, answers to my questions that I may be struggling with.
- 2:10But not all dreams are from Him.
- 2:12If a dream is chaotic and strange, it's not from him.
- 2:17Most likely it's my mind making things up.
- 2:19But I know that a dream is from God.
- 2:22When I can remember the dream and it leaves an impression on me.
- 2:26An impression of Tiffany Payett attention to this dream.
- 2:29I had one dream that I had.
- 2:31I was really struggling because I felt that I was broken.
- 2:35Given I grew up with a mom who had multiple personalities.
- 2:38I felt like I was not perfect raising my children.
- 2:41I feel like I have health issues.
- 2:43I just feel like I'm broken.
- 2:45And I was like, God, how can I help you and serve you when I'm so broken And I had a dream.
- 2:51And in that dream, the Savior came into my home.
- 2:54And I was sitting on my sofa, and he asked me to stand up.
- 2:58And he gave me a teacup.
- 3:00And it was this beautiful teacup, and he gave it to me, and I.
- 3:03And I treasured it.
- 3:03And he said, I need you to let go of it.
- 3:05And I was like, you just gave it to me.
- 3:07I don't want to let go of it.
- 3:08And I love it.
- 3:09And he said, I need you to drop it.
- 3:11And I was like, but if I drop it, it's going to break.
- 3:13And he just said, do you trust me?
- 3:15And I said, yeah, I trust you.
- 3:17And he said, I need you to drop it.
- 3:19And so I dropped it on the floor, and it broke.
- 3:22And.
- 3:23And the Savior reached down and picked it up.
- 3:25He walked over to the table and motioned for me to come with him.
- 3:29And he sat down.
- 3:30And as he sat there, his light came out of his finger.
- 3:34His light came through, and it sealed the pieces back together.
- 3:38And so when he gave it to me, it was like the Kintsugi kind of Japanese artwork that is beautifully broken and put together with gold.
- 3:45And so it comes away a more beautiful piece of pottery or work of art.
- 3:50And then when he presented it to me, he said, tiffany, even a broken vessel can carry life, saving water.
- 3:58And I woke up, and it was just a reminder to me that even in my brokenness, there are still things that I can carry and I can help other people, even if my vessel is put back together with
- 4:12glue, that even being broken, that water is still precious to someone who needs a drink and that I can give even when I feel so broken and maybe sometimes empty.
- 4:24And so I feel like a lot of times God gives us dreams for our sake, to help us, to bless us, to strengthen us.
- 4:33That image of the Kintsugi cup is so powerful.
- 4:36It reminds us that our trials don't disqualify us, they refine us.
- 4:43But dreams aren't always symbolic.
- 4:46Sometimes they're repetitive rehearsals for a truth God is trying to teach us and help our hearts to accept.
- 4:53For me, that came during a very dark period of my life.
- 4:57I remember I did have a dream shortly after Nathan was diagnosed with autism.
- 5:03And that was a very difficult time in my life because I didn't want him to have autism.
- 5:10And I was really fighting against the diagnosis in my mind and my heart.
- 5:14And I had a repetitive dream.
- 5:17This is how I know from God is because I kept having it.
- 5:21And in this dream, Nathan was speaking to me, and we were having Little conversations.
- 5:29And I remember just being so happy that for the first time, he could really communicate with me.
- 5:36Because.
- 5:37Because of his autism, that's not how he communicates.
- 5:41And I remember as I would wake up from the dream, it would hit me that the dream of him not having autism was a dream and that now I was waking up to real life.
- 5:56And so every time I'd wake up from that dream, I would feel more sad and more depressed, like, oh, it was like somebody stabbing me in the heart all over again.
- 6:06And so finally I did.
- 6:07I asked God not to give me the dream anymore, and he didn't.
- 6:11But as I kind of looked back on that, I think what God was trying to teach me was the eternal nature of Nathan as my son, that, sorry, I'm gonna get emotional.
- 6:25Someday in the eternal heavens, I will be able to have those communications, and I'll be able to talk to him, and he'll be able to talk to me and share what he's thinking and feeling.
- 6:38And it won't be awkward or stilted or confusing, like, why is he crying now?
- 6:44I don't know.
- 6:46So can it happen even though it might not happen all the time?
- 6:49Yes.
- 6:51And like you said, I love that you said, go to God and ask him for the interpretation.
- 6:57Ask him to help you.
- 6:58Because it took me a while to kind of ponder out, why did I get that dream?
- 7:03Why would he give me something that would bring me grief?
- 7:06But it did.
- 7:06It took me time to figure that out, and that's okay, too.
- 7:09You know, maybe you might not understand the meaning of the dream until years later.
- 7:15It was a promise of what was to come.
- 7:18But as we lean into this gift, we do have to be careful.
- 7:22If God can speak to us through dreams, the adversary will try to mimic that to cause confusion.
- 7:28The good news is Tiffany is now going to share a simple test for telling the difference.
- 7:34It's important to remember that if God speaks to you through dreams, and it's your gift of the spirit, you need to be very aware of that, that Satan knows that too.
- 7:45And so he may send dreams that.
- 7:47That aren't from heavenly Father.
- 7:49And so the way I can discern that is how I feel after the dream.
- 7:55If I feel that the dream is directing me to do something good, and there's good fruits just kind of like, you know, the scriptures say good things come from God.
- 8:03If I am left with an impression of, oh, I need to pay attention to this, and I need to.
- 8:09God is asking me to act on something or to learn something, and it is uplifting to me, then that is.
- 8:17I know it's from Heavenly Father, but if I come away feeling icky or feeling dark or feeling like that didn't make sense, or I don't think that that was from Heavenly Father, then simply ask Heavenly Father, was this.
- 8:35Was this from you?
- 8:36And that's what I do.
- 8:38I just say, heavenly Father, was this from you?
- 8:39And he's like, nope, it's not for me, Cassie.
- 8:42Now don't worry about it.
- 8:43Move on with your day.
- 8:45And so I think that's really how we can determine.
- 8:48Like, we need to understand that there's an influence for good and bad in our world and that whatever our gift of the Spirit is, Satan's going to try to use it to speak to us.
- 8:58And so it's so important that we.
- 9:00We do ask Heavenly Father, when we have those dreams, is this from you?
- 9:04And if this is from you, what is the lesson that you want me to learn from it?
- 9:07And he will tell us.
- 9:09He will speak to us.
- 9:10He will speak to our mind and our heart, and he will help us know.
- 9:13I've had dreams where I come away feeling, oh, that's really kind of chaotic, like, dreams of last days kind of things.
- 9:21But in those dreams, I don't come away feeling icky or scared in any way.
- 9:26I feel empowered by the fact that I stand with Jesus.
- 9:31And so those, even though those are still kind of overwhelming and could cause emotion or fear, they don't.
- 9:38They cause me to be excited and grateful for the Savior and for the power that he has given us in these last days to stand with Him.
- 9:47Just ask.
- 9:48Isn't that great?
- 9:49It's so simple.
- 9:50But God is a masterful communicator.
- 9:53I think it's important to understand that dreams may not come to everyone.
- 9:58It may not be your gift of the Spirit.
- 10:01So don't feel bad if God doesn't speak to you that way.
- 10:05It's just one of the many ways that he uses to speak to us.
- 10:09So if dreams isn't your gift of the Spirit, ask Heavenly Father, what is.
- 10:15What is your gift of the Spirit and how does he speak to you?
- 10:18And then use that to connect with Him.
- 10:21You don't have to have a dream to connect with God.
- 10:24And God doesn't love you less because you don't have a.
- 10:28He will send you the communication you need in the exact way you need it and when you need it.
- 10:33And I think that's important to remember.
- 10:34Like, sometimes when I'm like, oh, I just need a dream, just give me a dream, Heavenly Father, and when I try to force it, they do not come.
- 10:40It's.
- 10:40It's.
- 10:41It's when.
- 10:41It's when I am in a place of just complete surrender that those dreams come and that communication comes.
- 10:50And and as Tiffany mentioned, he often uses the quiet of the night because for a busy woman, that might be the time our minds are still enough to listen.
- 11:01Whether God is mending a teacup in your dream or giving you a glimpse of a healed future, God can use your dreams to reach you when you are most still.
- 11:11And if that isn't your gift, that's fine too.
