- 0:23Yeah. Yeah, So I'm Sam. I'm the i'd say vocalist, the
- 0:28vocalist TV I will say to the metal band Storm. Yeah beautiful. Thanks
- 0:39for joining us today, Sam, thank you, thanks for having me.
- 0:43No what's a fifth one? And peering up for a three day East Coast
- 0:46tour in February twenty twenty four, starting in Sydney on February second and then
- 0:50heading to Brisbane on the third and finishing in Melbourne on the tenth. So
- 0:54not a bad way to start a year off. Yeah, yeah, we're
- 0:57all very excited. Yeah, it'll be good. We haven't yet played a
- 1:03show in Brisbane before, so yeah, that'll be very fun. Now,
- 1:07looking at the name of the tour, is it the Closer Tour or the
- 1:10Closer Tour? Like if you read it as closer, it'll definitely give the
- 1:12wrong impression. Oh No, closer as in yeah, getting closer to something.
- 1:22It's kind of like foreshadowing our album, So just a bit of a
- 1:27hint there. So yeah, that'll all be revealed in good time. So
- 1:34for those that are unfamiliar with Fifthorn, tell us a bit more about the
- 1:38band. Yeah, so we formed in twenty fifteen. We were all quite
- 1:44young when we first start, so's be quite the journey the beginning with pretty
- 1:51much humps and this sounds that we're still being We're very out of it.
- 2:00The kind of music that we're playing is definitely kind of what we want to
- 2:04be projecting into the world. We get a lot of comparison to you know,
- 2:09uh, would you say eminescence just with my sort of style of singing,
- 2:15So it's very like kind of like the powerhouse kind of quality of vocals,
- 2:20which we love. And yeah, we're blending more kind of heavy elements
- 2:24to our music as well, which is cool. So yeah, for those
- 2:30who are into that kind of thing, Yeah, check us out. It's
- 2:36right on the back of your most recent single, The Day Bringing. So
- 2:38if that's all that someone has said of the band, would say, it's
- 2:40a good representation of what do you expect. Yeah, definitely, that's The
- 2:46Day Brings is channeling that. That sounds that what I said for about incorporating
- 2:53incorporating the heavy elements. Yeah, so that's pretty much what to expect and
- 3:00from our next record, which will be dropping some this year. Sorry I
- 3:06should say, yeah, sure, So describe for us a typical Fifth Drawn
- 3:12live show. What do people expect them when they come to see ye,
- 3:16yeah, just real big energy. I'm as a performer, I'm very kind
- 3:24of theatric with my stage presence. I really like to engage the audience through
- 3:29the music. Yeah, hopefully they'll they'll have a good time when they're there.
- 3:37Like I said, the music that we're releasing now is a bit heavier,
- 3:39so it's a bit more to kind of pop your head around two.
- 3:44But yeah, you know, we're really excited to be playing Stringer shows in
- 3:47February. I've never asked anyone this before, but as a band, what
- 3:53do you expect from you frous when they come to see Yeah, well,
- 3:57what do I expect? Just to be immersed really in the performance. So
- 4:01we we generally get a lot of good feedback after the show, but we
- 4:08do It's it's hard to kind of maintain a kind of high energy kind of
- 4:12crowd when when you're not just like playing breakdowns right and center. So our
- 4:16music is a bit more yeah, like kind of far away from that,
- 4:25but it's kind of heavy, like a lot of stuff like that. So
- 4:29yeah, I would expect that they are just enjoying themselves and immersing themselves and
- 4:33just kind of embodying the music and the experience really that's all. That's what
- 4:39it's all about. You'll be taking a tech with you for the whole run
- 4:43of shows, so why choose them to be your touring partner? What is
- 4:47it or a tech? Yeah? I just think they're incredible, Like she's
- 4:55an incredible front woman, especially with a heavy vocals. We admire them greatly,
- 5:02so when we pitched them to support us to the tour, they jumped
- 5:09on board, which were really happy with. Yeah. I definitely think that
- 5:11they're making some waves in the local heavy space in Sydney at the moment.
- 5:17They're definitely going places, Yeah, for sure. And luckily you've got Anarctica
- 5:23and Bridge lect to Burn in Sydney, to Rise on the Atomic Boat Project
- 5:26in Brisbane, New Million and fifty fifty in Melbourne. So run us through
- 5:30those bands briefly and tell us why you chose them to support each city.
- 5:34Yeah. So we did get some help with Kona Creative, so they're the
- 5:40mob that's running that the booking agent that we've borne through. So a couple
- 5:46of the bands we were aware of just from going to shows and just kind
- 5:51of seeing what's going on online with the music industry, but there are a
- 5:57couple there that all genuinely quite surprised at how great they were, and they
- 6:00were pitched for the field. And yeah, as you probably can tell,
- 6:06there's a lot of female representation as well on this tour, which I'm really
- 6:12supportive of. And yeah, I just think it's great to have females more
- 6:16involved in the heavy music space. Definitely. Now reading through your Prince release,
- 6:23it points out of the band cinematic orchestral arrangements in your music. So
- 6:27how difficult is that to replicate live? And how much of a presence I
- 6:30guess is that God in your live show? Yeah, so we recently decided
- 6:39to have a synth, so that only there's a problem. Yeah, it's
- 6:45that sort of like we don't actually have anyone I can kind of replicate those
- 6:49sounds live, so we just have it through the back track. Obviously you've
- 6:55got the organic instruments, Yeah, because a lot of a lot of our
- 7:00music is very synth heavy and have like electronic parts that I feel without it,
- 7:05it was really yeah, change the experience, it would Yeah, it
- 7:11wouldn't be received very well. I think just if you took all of those
- 7:15elements out of the music. Now, you've mentioned the new album you're working
- 7:17on a couple of times. Now. I know you can't tell us too
- 7:20much about it because it hasn't really been announced yet, But how would you
- 7:24say the music on that differs to what you put out on your debut album,
- 7:27Duality in twenty eighteen. Yeah, it's probably a more refined sound.
- 7:33It's definitely heavier. When we were in this writing process, we decided that
- 7:40although we love what we're doing and we love what we did with Duality,
- 7:44we were all very influenced heavily by heavy music, and we love it and
- 7:50we want to see how far we can kind of, you know, sort
- 7:55of test the boundaries with that with our own music, and so far it's
- 8:00it's been received really really well. We just love it. We just want
- 8:01to kind of take it up a notch with our music and especially with the
- 8:05energy and the engagement. Yeah. So, but there's but there's definitely still
- 8:11a balance of more powerful, kind of slower moving songs as well. Will
- 8:18you be playing any new songs from that on the tour. Yes. We
- 8:22have one song that we're that we've introduced in the set that which will be
- 8:33our next single, not we've got a single coming out in line with our
- 8:37tour, but the single after that. Yeah, we played it for the
- 8:43first time on our on our most recent show in Sydney, and yeah we
- 8:48we're definitely going to be playing that one before we go. Where can people
- 8:56get tickets from for these shows? I was tick so yes, if you
- 9:03just head to a page. He's in the bar, so the excessive there.
- 9:09And yeah, there'll also be tickets at the floor as well for those
- 9:13that like to buy tickets at the last minute, which seems to be everyone.
- 9:18And I'm guilt, certainly guilty. Yeah, yeah, We're all you
- 9:24know, we're all part of the problem. All right, Thanks very much
- 9:30for your time and the Closer tour kicks off on February two and Sydney so
- 9:33best some likely that I'll probably pop along in the Brisbane show and s fixing
