- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Good morning, everybody, Monday, March second. Boy, what a weekend,
- 0:09Speaker 2: early Saturday morning our time. The attack on Iran by
- 0:14Speaker 2: the United States and Israel. We are waiting for the
- 0:18Speaker 2: President to give some remarks and to award the Medal
- 0:24Speaker 2: of Honor to some soldiers and not necessarily dealing with
- 0:28Speaker 2: the war. We're going to cut them as soon as
- 0:30Speaker 2: he starts, by the way, which is just a moment.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And the Medal of Honor virtually every time it's given.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Of course it's deserved because it is extraordinary. A lot
- 0:40Speaker 2: of them, I think most of them are given posthumously
- 0:43Speaker 2: because of the risks these soldiers take to take out
- 0:47Speaker 2: an enemy under extraordinary circumstances or save their fellow soldiers.
- 0:52Speaker 2: And the only issue as the president is giving them out, well,
- 0:57Speaker 2: let's just say indiscriminately.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Is that fair to say?
- 1:00Speaker 2: But keep in mind soldiers that receive a silver Star,
- 1:03Speaker 2: for example, and other medals of valor, not necessarily the
- 1:06Speaker 2: Congressional Medal of Honor, but other medals of honor. It
- 1:10Speaker 2: certainly would all of them deserve the Congressional medal. So
- 1:14Speaker 2: at a thirty we're going to be doing and it
- 1:17Speaker 2: has probably as good obviously, and have to do with
- 1:20Speaker 2: the war or the attack.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And then the issue is this a war? Now?
- 1:26Speaker 2: It is not a war, even though it's being called
- 1:28Speaker 2: a war. And that's what the Republican's position is, because
- 1:33Speaker 2: if it is a war, a real war, Congress has
- 1:35Speaker 2: to declare the war. It's right there in Article one
- 1:40Speaker 2: of the US Constitutional and it's known as the War
- 1:44Speaker 2: Powers Cause, and it gives Congress the exclusive power to
- 1:48Speaker 2: declare war.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Only Congress can declare war.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, last time that happened was December eighth, nineteen forty one,
- 1:55Speaker 2: the day after Pearl Harbor. And so the issue that
- 2:00Speaker 2: the Republicans and the Administration say that gives them the ability,
- 2:06Speaker 2: gives the president the ability to order this attack is
- 2:10Speaker 2: the War Powers Resolution of nineteen seventy three, which was
- 2:15Speaker 2: passed by Congress. And this had to do with Richard
- 2:19Speaker 2: Nixon and the secret bombings of Cambodia during the Vietnam War.
- 2:25Speaker 2: And it lays out several different areas that the president
- 2:30Speaker 2: has to follow. First of all, the president has to
- 2:33Speaker 2: notify Congress within forty eight hours of committing troops to
- 2:36Speaker 2: military action. Well, when did he commit troops to military action?
- 2:42Speaker 2: Weeks ago, days ago when he moved the task forces
- 2:47Speaker 2: into the Persian Gulf.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And then there is a time limit.
- 2:50Speaker 2: As part of the War Powers Resolution, armed forces are
- 2:56Speaker 2: forbidden from remaining in the conflict for more than sixty
- 2:59Speaker 2: days without a formal declaration of war or specific statutory authorization,
- 3:07Speaker 2: which has been given several times Tonking Gulf Resolution for example.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That was before the War Powers Act, but still that's
- 3:16Speaker 2: the history of the US And so withdrawal period. An
- 3:21Speaker 2: additional thirty days withdrawal period is permitted if the President
- 3:27Speaker 2: certifies that it is necessary for the safe removal of troops.
- 3:32Speaker 2: And finally, consultation. This is all part of the War
- 3:37Speaker 2: Powers Resolution nineteen seventy three. The President is required to
- 3:42Speaker 2: consult with Congress in every possible instance before introducing the
- 3:48Speaker 2: US forces into hostilities. Okay, did he inform Congress in
- 3:57Speaker 2: every possible instance? To the Democratic Congress leaders in Congress
- 4:04Speaker 2: and the Senate who are Democrats saying.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Nope, he gave us. He told us the night before
- 4:10Speaker 1: that he was going to.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Do this, and it was given to the Gang of Eight,
- 4:15Speaker 2: which is the leadership of both houses and those in
- 4:19Speaker 2: the leadership of the Intelligence Committee, the House and the
- 4:22Speaker 2: Senate Intelligence Committee. So is he justified under the law. Well,
- 4:30Speaker 2: what the administration is saying that the War Powers Resolution
- 4:34Speaker 2: is on its face unconstitutional, that that gets in the
- 4:39Speaker 2: way of a president doing his job in times of war,
- 4:44Speaker 2: and technically are we at war? We are not at war.
- 4:47Speaker 2: But have presidents move forces and attacked. Oh, I don't know.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Obama with Libya, Bill Clinton with Grenada and Libya.
- 4:59Speaker 1: You have then Johnson with Vietnam.
- 5:03Speaker 2: You've got virtually every president that we've had since the
- 5:09Speaker 2: War Powers Act has been enacted, and even before all right,
- 5:13Speaker 2: while we're waiting for the president to speak, were the
- 5:19Speaker 2: president has, as I said, just issued a statement or
- 5:22Speaker 2: actually in an interview statements to CNN. The United States
- 5:26Speaker 2: has just started attacking Iran, and Iran is looking at
- 5:33Speaker 2: some really interesting.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Times at this point.
- 5:35Speaker 2: And I believe the United States alone has had twelve
- 5:40Speaker 2: hundred attacks something like that on Iran, and Israel has
- 5:44Speaker 2: had very close to that, and they do it with impunity.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Air attacks, missile attacks, Tomahawk missiles, drones are not being
- 5:52Speaker 2: touched by Iranians as those assets are being used and
- 5:56Speaker 2: why he was that because very early and this is
- 5:59Speaker 2: what the United States, and this is what happened with
- 6:02Speaker 2: Saddam Hussein. The first wave goes in and takes out
- 6:06Speaker 2: command and control and all the ability of whatever enemy
- 6:10Speaker 2: to fight or to go against our air forces, air resources.
- 6:17Speaker 2: And in this case, that first wave also took out
- 6:22Speaker 2: the top guy, Hermine klim and I, who is the
- 6:26Speaker 2: supreme leader, and also the senior members of military, a
- 6:32Speaker 2: couple of clerics, revolutionary guard, some judiciary, I mean the
- 6:39Speaker 2: top level, A good part of them were wiped out.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Why because Runyans are stupid on two levels. First of all,
- 6:46Speaker 2: there was a war council they called, right the attack
- 6:50Speaker 2: is eminent, and what do they do.
- 6:53Speaker 1: All of these guys sit in a.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Conference room in the headquarters of the military, and Israel
- 7:00Speaker 2: and the United States know exactly where they are, where
- 7:04Speaker 2: they're meeting, because the intelligence of Israel the United States
- 7:07Speaker 2: is superb when it comes to Iran. And so that
- 7:10Speaker 2: was idiocy number one. Idiocy number two is attacking the
- 7:14Speaker 2: other Gulf states who have declared neutrality.
- 7:20Speaker 1: They're staying out of it.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Oman Oman was the mediator between the United States and Iran,
- 7:28Speaker 2: taken out or at least being attacked same thing with
- 7:32Speaker 2: Saudi Arabia. Why no one understands that either we are
- 7:35Speaker 2: waiting for the president to join us, or we're going
- 7:40Speaker 2: to join his press conference where he is going to
- 7:43Speaker 2: be handing out to the soldiers who truly deserve the
- 7:47Speaker 2: Congressional Medal of Honored Valor, and a couple of them
- 7:52Speaker 2: is posthumously, and that is the majority of those who
- 7:55Speaker 2: have received that medal have received them posthumous. Also, coming
- 8:01Speaker 2: up at eight thirty, we're going to be do something.
- 8:04Speaker 2: We're going to do something that we have not done,
- 8:07Speaker 2: and that is do retro radio, going back to the
- 8:10Speaker 2: sixties when talk radio actually happened and you become part
- 8:13Speaker 2: of it. And the way I used to work is
- 8:16Speaker 2: the host would the first the first segment, we'd come
- 8:20Speaker 2: up with a monologue, his or her opinion. It was
- 8:23Speaker 2: generally his opinion, and then we go to the phones.
- 8:28Speaker 2: And that's what we're gonna do, and it's talkback because
- 8:31Speaker 2: it was originally talk it was talkback, and so we're
- 8:36Speaker 2: I'm going to take some phone calls.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And you have the ability to join in.
- 8:41Speaker 2: You and I are going to discuss and what are
- 8:43Speaker 2: we going to discuss what do you think the attack
- 8:46Speaker 2: on Iran good or bad? And I want a combination
- 8:50Speaker 2: of the two. And you have to call in a
- 8:53Speaker 2: couple of rules. We're gonna make it short. Okay, you
- 8:56Speaker 2: are not going to ramble. I will cut you off
- 8:59Speaker 2: if you ever listen to handle on the law. One
- 9:02Speaker 2: of the things I don't bring to the table is patience.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And I don't know if you knew that. So it's
- 9:08Speaker 2: going to be get your thoughts together. I will respond,
- 9:12Speaker 2: you will talk. And that was talk radio. That's the
- 9:15Speaker 2: way it used to happen. Let's go to the phones.
- 9:18Speaker 2: And then, as Neil pointed out, what say you Los Angeles?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Great fun?
- 9:23Speaker 2: And then we're going to use the same number we
- 9:25Speaker 2: always do, eight hundred and five to two zero one
- 9:27Speaker 2: five three four. And in the middle of it, or
- 9:31Speaker 2: during a commercial break, once the president starts speaking, we're
- 9:36Speaker 2: going to go to the president. Unless he just starts
- 9:38Speaker 2: handing out the medal of honor. Then we're not particularly
- 9:43Speaker 2: going to listen or watch the president, not that what
- 9:47Speaker 2: he says is unimportant, or that the medals are certainly
- 9:51Speaker 2: not deserved, because they are. It's because all I and
- 9:56Speaker 2: probably you, hopefully you're interested in what's going on. The
- 10:00Speaker 2: three American jets have been shot down by Kuwait friendly fire.
- 10:07Speaker 2: All six pilots that were on the planes have successfully
- 10:11Speaker 2: ejected and there were no casualties.
- 10:13Speaker 1: The number of American deaths have been four so far.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Israeli's I think there have been what amy ten to
- 10:22Speaker 2: twelve Israelis have been killed.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It was ten when the ballistic missile hit in a
- 10:27Speaker 1: residential area over the.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and one missile hit a synagogue of which there
- 10:32Speaker 2: was a bomb shelter underneath the synagogue and it was
- 10:36Speaker 2: a direct hit. And that's where most of those people died.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And then in Iran, I don't know several hundred people.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I mean, you never know what they're going to say,
- 10:46Speaker 2: and how do you believe anything? The Foreign Minister was
- 10:50Speaker 2: interviewed a couple of hours ago and when was asked
- 10:56Speaker 2: about how about the attacks on Dubai and Saudi Arabia
- 10:59Speaker 2: civilian tar that's not us. We don't know anything about it. No,
- 11:03Speaker 2: that's not us at all. All we're going is after
- 11:06Speaker 2: military targets. Yeah, okay, let's believe him. Okay, coming up,
- 11:10Speaker 2: it's going to be retro radio with you calling in
- 11:15Speaker 2: the number eight hundred five two zero one five three
- 11:18Speaker 2: four eight hundred five two zero one five three four
- 11:21Speaker 2: and is going to screen. We're going to follow the
- 11:25Speaker 2: same rules for handle on the law. If you are unintelligible,
- 11:28Speaker 2: you're at the top of the list. If you are
- 11:30Speaker 2: special needs, you are at the top of the list.
- 11:34Speaker 2: If you are completely crazy, you are at the top
- 11:38Speaker 2: of the list. And any combination of those three you're
- 11:42Speaker 2: getting through. And we're going to talk. And it's your
- 11:44Speaker 2: opinion the war. Should we have attacked Iran? Yes or no?
- 11:51Speaker 1: Okay? It is time for retro radio.
- 11:55Speaker 2: We're going back to the sixties when radio was all
- 11:58Speaker 2: about you calling and the host commenting, and we go
- 12:02Speaker 2: back and forth and let's just do it. This is
- 12:06Speaker 2: when I remember when I was listening Vietnam War, yes
- 12:09Speaker 2: or no? Well, been a ways from that, Okay, So
- 12:14Speaker 2: let's do it. Okay, starting with well, what say you
- 12:18Speaker 2: Southern California?
- 12:21Speaker 1: All right, Harold? Should we have attacked Roon? Yes or no?
- 12:26Speaker 3: Bill A long time listener. Look, this guy lies so
- 12:29Speaker 3: much you don't know when to believe him or not.
- 12:32Speaker 3: He said no foreign entanglement, Bill, and then he says
- 12:35Speaker 3: the war is going to be over in four to
- 12:37Speaker 3: five weeks. How the hell does Donald Trump know the
- 12:39Speaker 3: war is going to be over in for four to
- 12:42Speaker 3: five weeks? Bill?
- 12:43Speaker 1: All right, I mean that's a good question.
- 12:44Speaker 2: So obviously you are against the invasion of the war
- 12:49Speaker 2: or the invasion of Iran?
- 12:50Speaker 1: Correct, all right? Fair enough? Well, okay, Well, here's what happens.
- 12:53Speaker 2: The way it works is you make a statement and
- 12:55Speaker 2: then I respond, and my response to you is go
- 13:00Speaker 2: suck on a bag of rocks.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Okay, there are some analysis.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Uh Mark calling what why did he get a bag
- 13:12Speaker 2: of rocks? Well, because the actual phrase I can't use,
- 13:17Speaker 2: that's why. Okay, thank you very much. Mark calling from Japan.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Hello Mark, Yes, yes, sir, what are your thoughts?
- 13:30Speaker 4: Yeah, we definitely should have done it. Okay, Actually we
- 13:33Speaker 4: should have done it years ago, is what I think?
- 13:37Speaker 1: Okay? And why I mean?
- 13:41Speaker 4: And well I will before I answer that. I'm not
- 13:45Speaker 4: sure how objective you can be because you live in
- 13:48Speaker 4: the Persian Palace.
- 13:49Speaker 1: No, I don't. There's no sol the Persian Palace.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Oh okay, So okay, then you are objective. There's no conflict.
- 13:57Speaker 1: That's the objectivity the Persian Palace.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Well, because Persia that he ran you know, okay, oh.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I you know, I got I got that.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I got that.
- 14:08Speaker 2: But do you have any idea why I called it
- 14:11Speaker 2: the Persian Palace.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Because of the chandeliers if I recall, no, I.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Don't have chandeliers. I had one chandelier.
- 14:19Speaker 2: And the reason I called the Persian Palace is because
- 14:22Speaker 2: I had The synagogue I went to was about forty
- 14:25Speaker 2: five percent Iranian Persian and my house is fairly understated,
- 14:32Speaker 2: and that a Persian house. Of course, there's nothing but chandeliers,
- 14:35Speaker 2: nothing but gold. It was a yuts to my friends.
- 14:39Speaker 1: That was it. It was a screw you, that's the
- 14:42Speaker 1: whole thing.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, So I understand where he's coming from. All right, Jason, welcome,
- 14:48Speaker 2: Yes sir, what can you say?
- 14:52Speaker 5: Yes, answer your question. We should have went in. And
- 14:55Speaker 5: the reason why it's a great up three for Trump.
- 14:57Speaker 5: We have to send troops in bottom line this end
- 14:59Speaker 5: of the day. But after the bombing, we send in
- 15:01Speaker 5: ten thousand American troops, ten thousand Europeans. All their countries
- 15:05Speaker 5: give in troops. Japan and Korea, any place our friends
- 15:07Speaker 5: sends in ten thousand troops with us. They have one
- 15:09Speaker 5: hundred thousand on the ground, let them do their free elections.
- 15:13Speaker 5: They get their new president there, they vote in. Then
- 15:15Speaker 5: we keep twenty thousand there to watch it. And then
- 15:18Speaker 5: it sends a message to Putin, don't mess with the world.
- 15:22Speaker 5: And then Trump looks like a superstar.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Okay, well let me ask you.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Now.
- 15:26Speaker 2: What So Putin tells us to go pound sand do
- 15:30Speaker 2: we go in and attack Russia?
- 15:33Speaker 5: Well, here's the thing. After we send the troops there,
- 15:36Speaker 5: they all the one hundred thousand troops move into Ukraine
- 15:39Speaker 5: and park in Ukraine and say, listen, Putin, we're here
- 15:42Speaker 5: on your border. You've screwed with us, You're gone, and
- 15:44Speaker 5: we don't go attack Russia. Of course not. We just
- 15:46Speaker 5: send a message of strength of one hundred thousand your
- 15:49Speaker 5: world troops, including Japan had a great opportunity to get
- 15:52Speaker 5: them out again, because they need to get out and
- 15:54Speaker 5: get their soldiers out. So it'd be multiple opportunities here
- 15:57Speaker 5: and then the world of the United Trump had send
- 15:59Speaker 5: the message.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I get that, and the world would be united, and
- 16:04Speaker 2: unicorns would crap rainbows and everybody is happy. And already
- 16:11Speaker 2: the Japan sends massive amounts of arms to Ukraine. Well
- 16:16Speaker 2: not quite no, because the thought of World War Three.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Starting so, Jason, you're moron. Okay, this was talk radio
- 16:27Speaker 2: at its best. Okay, retro radio.
- 16:31Speaker 1: You've been listening to The Bill Handle Show.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Catch My Show Monday through Friday, six am to nine am,
