- 2:01understand these bars just going the house, shorty, we tell you when to
- 2:05come back outside for real because it's about to be crazy. So uh,
- 2:09as as we did before in this podcast when Jay Cole apologized, I had
- 2:15the homie Tony into the dome dot Com and kill of Apartment five be on
- 2:21to talk about that. But in that episode, I felt like every five
- 2:25minutes, I was like me and the homie at me, and the homie
- 2:29I said, and then and then we could hey, y'all, he's here.
- 2:35We already done talked about it. We're gonna get into it, but
- 2:38real quick, Uh, this is the homie. He is a lifelong hip
- 2:43hop fan, he's been a producer, he's been a rapper, he's been
- 2:46the longest tenured host of the legendary Strictly Hip Hop in Baltimore ten years ay
- 2:54from the town Aconnola. What's good, brother, man, Thank you man,
- 3:00Thank you for having me. Chief really appreciate it. Man. Anything
- 3:02good, man, anything good. We're here to talk about what's what's happening
- 3:08in the culture today. You know what's happening today. It's always something in
- 3:15the culture. You know, you know what's going on today, you know,
- 3:20right it is. Look, I pride this podcast on keeping those who
- 3:25are not always informed on everything or just want a certain perspective, but specifically
- 3:32those who you know, you know, life things get in the way and
- 3:37maybe you still love hip hop, but you're just not in it in the
- 3:39same way as you need to know. So to get you caught up real
- 3:44quick. You know, there's been this whole back and forth with this record
- 3:46from j Cole to Drake to Rick Ross, and then you had some offshoot
- 3:53situations for which we ain't gonna discuss because we don't trust it now. But
- 3:58we don't care about what they rapping about, to be honest, you know,
- 4:01But this specific battle. As you know you watched the other episode.
- 4:06J Cole just tapped out, like, yo, what am I doing?
- 4:11I'm out peace, y'all can have it. Drake kept going. He put
- 4:15out a song called push Ups, allegedly he put out Kendrick Kendrick AI distance
- 4:24towards him, allegedly because we don't know. And then he put out a
- 4:29song Tailor Made Freestyle where he used AI versions of Tupac and Snoop to basically
- 4:38show their disappointment in Kendrick and really trying to lure Kendrick out. After Kendrick
- 4:44set off the whole thing with his verse off the metro booming in Future album
- 4:49the song called like that right and we got some men for about that straight
- 4:54from Kendrick. But everybody was waiting, Yo. He Kendrick got forty eight
- 5:01hours, he got two days. He gotta do this, he gotta do
- 5:05that, and us Old has a kind of like yo, sometimes they don't
- 5:10hit when you expect him to until it's a Tuesday, we drop unexpectedly,
- 5:15like you know what, that's what we know right right, We know all
- 5:23this. We know that you know right exactly, And look for anybody who's
- 5:30younger or just you know, just not used to what used to being what
- 5:33is now? Blah blah blah, just to talk about how long he took
- 5:40Drake and I got a credit academics for this because it's where I heard it.
- 5:44But Drake responded to Kendrick's like that verse within twenty one days. Kendrick
- 5:51responded to Drake's response, push up within seventeen days. So all this,
- 5:59y'all, he lost us what he waiting for. He did it in less
- 6:02time. Did that make you feel better? But we ain't gonna talk.
- 6:06We're gonna talk about you know whatever. We need to talk about it without
- 6:12the YANKI roll out too, without the confusion, without the deception. Is
- 6:17it this? Is it that? What's No? It's on his page,
- 6:25you know, his his YouTube it's his, right, it's his, it's
- 6:30him. We don't have to try to figure it out. And do you
- 6:34know calculus like, no, it's it's him, you know right, it's
- 6:40on his YouTube page. It was on his Twitter, trust me. When
- 6:44everybody said, especially complex yo, his response is out, but they hadn't
- 6:48posted it, I was like, well, where where is it? And
- 6:53I went to YouTube and that's why I found it. Then I went to
- 6:56his Twitter and it was right at the top, and I was like,
- 7:00yeah, because he don't tweet every day. I was like, this is
- 7:02him. This is him for sure. And we haven't checked the numbers because
- 7:09we know y'all care about that. Well, we were also we're just gonna
- 7:13talk about the bars. So I'm gonna just ask you, first time pressing
- 7:18play on it, especially now having had time to really digest, what do
- 7:24you think about Kendrick's response given everything that's happened since then, since everybody's responded,
- 7:35basically specifically Drake, Yeah, it's crazy because you know, as I'm
- 7:44listening to you and we kicked this off, I'm like, yo, did
- 7:46we even mention shorty name, like like yo the Boogieyman, like Yo.
- 7:53The Kendrick Lamar response, Kendrick Lamar kind of kicked us into a firestorm with
- 8:00like that, and we kicked up dust. And you know, Drake was
- 8:05like, all right, I'm with that. You ain't kicking up that much
- 8:09dust. Let's go. And then, like you said, with the rollout
- 8:13and you know AI track leaking and then the official leak, and then he
- 8:18goes and actually makes an AI track and now all right, Kendrick has responded
- 8:28within seventeen days and pressing play. It's like the initial approach, It's like,
- 8:37all right, I don't know what to expect. I knew I was
- 8:39gonna get a drop though I knew it was gonna drop, you know.
- 8:45I'm like, yeah, the beat is gonna drop, and it's it's likely.
- 8:52This is what I was thinking before it even before it even dropped.
- 8:58My anticipation, I'm like, yo, so he's probably gonna run with this
- 9:01style that he's been rapping with with his cousin Baby King. It's you know,
- 9:11it's it's off kilter but yet sharp, and then you have like these
- 9:18heroic horns, you know, the family ties. I'm like, if he
- 9:22does something like that, you know that would that would be dope? Can
- 9:28he do something like that? Can you do that and make it a response
- 9:33slash battle rap? Can you do that? So that's what I was I
- 9:39was thinking he was gonna do. I was thinking it was gonna be challenging,
- 9:45but I'm like, yeah, if he gets that off, that'll be
- 9:46dope. So we got the build up, or we got the initial intro
- 9:54with the with the smooth you know sample track, just like, YO,
- 10:00just talk to this talk to this dude real quick. And yeah, that
- 10:05was my initial thought. I'm like, Yo's he's he's talking to him right
- 10:09now, like and then he even has something he says, I'm killing with
- 10:13kindness. He says something like that in those first couple of bars. So
- 10:18yeah, it's all a set up, you know. Then for the initial
- 10:22drop, and it was like clock where I'm like, they'll go them horns
- 10:26there it is. I'm like, Okay, so he really he really gonna
- 10:31go there, He's really gonna take it. Then one thing I will say,
- 10:35you know, I know people are gonna people gonna probably disagree with it.
- 10:41You know. I'm seeing some of the responses and the reactions out there,
- 10:46and I'm I'm actually I'm glad that he chose the approach that he chose,
- 10:52like the beat selection, and he went with that kind of family ties
- 10:58style, you know, like I just did. I think Drake, you
- 11:07know, battle wise and maybe some of the hip hop heads you know,
- 11:13were maybe expecting him to come with the boom back, you know, I
- 11:16think that's what they were and that's easily like, oh man, see he
- 11:22on his rapidy rap Yo think it's the nineties. No, he come with
- 11:26the style that he's doing right now this and it's it's the style that he's
- 11:33you know, some could maybe say it's experimental or but it's the style.
- 11:39This is the mold that I'm in right now, and he chose to respond
- 11:43to YO in that mode as far as his approach. So you know,
- 11:48that was my initial thought, you know, from beginning, you know,
- 11:52to the to the end, just thinking about the approach. It's like,
- 11:56Okay, he's staying that in that same bag like so and but at the
- 12:03same time hitting on a couple different audiences, right because you got the grown
- 12:09man bars, you know, but then you got that kind of marsh pit
- 12:16rap rah rah. You got that, and like in some of your delivery,
- 12:22it's like he weaved in and out of it because some of them sometimes
- 12:28he's just talking to talking to y'all, right, you know, like it's
- 12:33not as rah rah or turned up as like that. It's but it's it's
- 12:39aggressive, but it's I guess he toned back some of the aggression so he
- 12:46can get some of the more complex bars off. You know. So that
- 12:52was that's my my initial thoughts. Yeah, I totally agree, because it's
- 13:00sort of like J Cole was seven Minute Drill did something similar. It's just
- 13:07that the bars weren't where we expected them to be, so the impact was
- 13:15light, you know, in comparison, because I think in a lot of
- 13:18ways to your point, Yeah, we was there for the boom back time,
- 13:22so we know we was there for either. We was on the radio
- 13:26with all of that, you know what I'm saying, talking to the people
- 13:28the hip hop community, you know, doing the tallies and the boats and
- 13:33roundtable discussions and all of that like on FM radio right live when it was
- 13:39happening. So we was there, we know what hadened it. Also outside
- 13:43for the I was in Queensbridge when the bridge is overhit and it was like
- 13:48funeral for the entire projects. It was just like yo, y'ah ain't hear
- 13:52it? Oh yeah, oh y'all did here? Okay. So I feel
- 13:58like to have the like to your point, to have the expectation for any
- 14:03of these guys to be honest, to just go and yo, let me
- 14:07go get a boom back beat. Then they're really only trying to impress us
- 14:11to be honest. But when you have a beat like that, that's kind
- 14:16of the vibe now that you know, a younger generation can get into.
- 14:22But the bars are there for us to be like, yo, he said,
- 14:26blah blah blah, and we'll get into some of those bars. I
- 14:30totally agree. It was probably the right move. My first initial reaction,
- 14:35honestly, I laughed because of how people said, like, kench, you're
- 14:39gonna respond with some alien noises, and I just think that's the funniest.
- 14:43I just think that's the funniest thing in the world. So, you know,
- 14:48when some of those popped up here and there, I chuckled. But
- 14:52when I started listening listen, I was like, oh, there's a lot
- 14:56here. I'm missing a lot. And it's an initial listen. I know
- 15:01I'm missing a lot. I only really caught like one bar that kind of
- 15:07stopped me in my tracks, like, oh wait, what do you say?
- 15:11So yeah, I agree, and I think we push ups the drake
- 15:15dish this he kind of did that, like this beat is more of a
- 15:18vibe of what I do and what people know, so they kind of thinking
- 15:22of, like, but let's just get into some of these bars, man,
- 15:30because I think what what's being missed by? Like obviously we're not gonna
- 15:35convince anybody to like anything regardless because we are fans of these guys, you
- 15:43know what I'm saying. But it's a battle and it comes down to judging
- 15:48the bars. That's what battle rap is about. So all the antics like
- 15:52the one that we mentioned with the AI with Tupac and Snoop's voice which was
- 16:00pulled down from his accounts because of a ceased insist because you just can't do
- 16:04that. I'm just saying, especially with Tupac. His estate just won't have
- 16:08any of it. This brought it back to we wrap it. Yeah,
- 16:15like you said, the rollout, there was no confusion as whether it was
- 16:19Kendrick or not because he uploaded it. He didn't send it to some podcast
- 16:25or some YouTuber or somebody didn't find it and blah blah blah. It came
- 16:30directly from Kendrick to the people, and most importantly, it was on streaming
- 16:37services within like an hour or so. Drake took a while to get there,
- 16:42which was surprising because you know Drake, he could get his joint up
- 16:47there. Rick Ross was up there quick like. But we kind of saw
- 16:52what Homie was doing, so I let's just start getting into the bars,
- 16:57because I think this is just a this is a nasty record. When you
- 17:03start to break down everything is being said. What what are some of the
- 17:06lines that stood out to you? Well, you know the parking son,
- 17:14you know that was that was crazy to me. You know, they must
- 17:19got dementia. Things get shaky. I'm parking son, you know that was
- 17:27I'm like, all right, you know what I'm saying that that's that's crazy.
- 17:33And then you know, the whole and this is the beginning. This
- 17:40is when the beat first drops. That's when he started to open up the
- 17:45bar bag, you know, open up Pandora's box and start to reach in
- 17:49and get the bars. You know, the initial intro. You know,
- 17:55he's setting up the whole. You know, this is an actor and I'm
- 17:57kind of just sitting back looking at all the the shenanigans go down. And
- 18:03then when the horns drop, Okay, it's time to wrap now. And
- 18:07you know, we got the parking son. We got the you know,
- 18:11pot turning over in his grave. You know, I mean, we got
- 18:15the you know you should what did he say? The you? You?
- 18:23I want to see you push your t you know, you better off spinning
- 18:29back, you know with him then, you know, then pushing me.
- 18:33Yeah, you know, then you know, drop the brother government, you
- 18:37know. But then but then compares himself to Terrence Crawford. I'm like,
- 18:45oh man, I'm like, okay, we really and that and that that
- 18:52that definitely hit home for me because I'm an Earl Spence fan, So it's
- 18:59like, damn, and so you know, this is Terrence Crawford. Did
- 19:03we doing that? Yeah? Yeah, pretty pretty much. And I don't
- 19:11know if we mentioned this for people watching, but it is the cover of
- 19:15this episode. The name of the song is Euphoria by the way, and
- 19:21it contained on the cover. It contains synonyms for Euphoria that had basically quotes
- 19:27and all of this speak to everything that's being said, and most importantly two
- 19:32things. Because you know the Internet, we know that Drake was a producer
- 19:37on the HBO show Euphoria, which some say contained a lot of child pornography.
- 19:47Yeah, but you know, it's it's it's kind of a reach in
- 19:49a lot of ways because it's kind of like, that's not what the show
- 19:52was about, but it contained that, right, And today is the day
- 20:00a Hitler died. Oh, and they're trying to tie that to it,
- 20:06and I'm like, bro, like what, so I gotta listen again because
- 20:08I'm like, wait a minute, is there is there East Egg in there
- 20:11somewhere? I missed? Oh Man. One of the only line that caught
- 20:18me off guard the first time, which I had to go and tweet about
- 20:22it, was Yeah, my first one, like the last one, is
- 20:26a classic. You don't have one. Let your core audience stomach that.
- 20:30Then tell them where you can where you get your ads from. Now for
- 20:36those people who are listening to this Kendrick thing, and really some people can't
- 20:40get into the delivery, but they also don't understand they're missing some of the
- 20:45bars. Let's just break that down just a little bit for y'all. Right,
- 20:49So my first one, like the last one, Jcoble even Drake or
- 20:56saying the first one is a classic, but you're last album was garbage,
- 21:00meaning mister Morale, Big Steppers, Kendrick Lubbar's album was gone, So that's
- 21:04him. Both my joints are classics, right, that's what he's saying,
- 21:10saying you don't have one, because that was a debate online like, well,
- 21:15how can you say that, because do you even have a classic?
- 21:18Most people have a favorite, like take Care is my favorite Drake album.
- 21:22But it's tough to really say what's a classic and what is and if you're
- 21:27not a megafan, you know what I'm saying. And the last bar was
- 21:32the one that I had to hit Rewind. I had to stop it.
- 21:34I was like, yo, I gotta stop because did he say what I
- 21:37think he thought I said, or thought he said, let your core audience
- 21:42stomach that we're gonna stop there for the slow people in the back stomach,
- 21:49right core, if you work out, that's your core. You know,
- 21:55you gotta get that straight. Usually you can't really do much and nothing else
- 21:57if that core ain't right. Some stomach and core, let them asks you
- 22:04where you get your abs from? Right, abs in that same core stomach
- 22:08area. And we know because people were saying allegedly, but we saw it.
- 22:15Drake got some fake abs installed and he took a bunch of beauty photos.
- 22:19But maybe he had some stomach pains according to Rick Ross, and you
- 22:25know, supposedly got him removed. And I'm thinking, somebody what, well,
- 22:30yeah, Rick Rosse said that's why he dressed it funny at his shows.
- 22:34Now with them big jumpers in you know, hoodies and shit. He
- 22:41got on saying that no, because he can't wear anything tight if you've ever
- 22:47had surgery, even if you had that's the bb out at bb out,
- 22:51they can't. Oh that's crazy, even if you've had a hernia surgery.
- 22:59Yo, you gotta put the sweatpants or something on the draw string. You
- 23:03don't need the tight belt, Like, oh no, you know that can't
- 23:08be true. The big pants and all the photos y'all, Like, oh,
- 23:15so I've seen that that like some of the reactions from the from the
- 23:21YouTubers and stuff and the internets and shout out man, because you know,
- 23:26you know, no, make no bones about it. We we we we
- 23:29were here to get into the algorithm, you know what I mean. We
- 23:33gotta we we we we here too, you know, you know so,
- 23:37But I've been watching some of the the reactions and and and some folks have
- 23:44a point of contention. Man, he's saying the same thing Rick Ross said
- 23:48about the ads, and you know, like that was that was whack,
- 23:52that was lame. You know, we already heard that before. And and
- 24:00uh it's like it's like this man, like I get that, I understand
- 24:08that we're talking about what I don't know, four or five bars, you
- 24:15know, like four maybe six bars at the most. You know that.
- 24:21Okay, we heard something similar with with Ross. But I think what people
- 24:29are forgetting with this whole well maybe they don't know, but with this whole
- 24:33m seeing and rapping and stuff, a lot of it is how you say
- 24:37things too. You know. It ain't just about what you say, you
- 24:42know, shout out to the brother nas like no idea is original. You
- 24:47know what I'm saying. It's not what you do, but how it's done.
- 24:51Like yo, that's that's That's just what it is. We need.
- 24:53We need to stop stop all of that, you know, like you know,
- 24:59and and it again, like you said, we can't make people like
- 25:02what they don't like. But it's like, yo, come on, you
- 25:06know another another thing you know, I'm you mentioned it earlier. I'm getting
- 25:15flashbacks with this whole situation, like m hm, yah, we've been here
- 25:21before. We've been here before. Now only time to tell. I'm not
- 25:27saying that this is ether time. Time will reveal, you know, but
- 25:34we've been here. It looks similar. I remember this. I remember the
- 25:40glazed overlooks in some folks faces, like I don't understand when ether draft,
- 25:47I don't understand what what's the what's the big deal? It's just all right
- 25:51to me. I remember I remember this, yo, I remember, y'all.
- 25:56I remember I was dead, you know, And now we're getting I'm
- 26:02seeing it again with this. Oh you know it's mid o, don't you
- 26:07know? And it's like, yo, man, you know, only only
- 26:11time to tell. But again when we're talking about battling and this competition between
- 26:18two MC's, like you said, it's the bars and we could take it
- 26:26a step furthest the rollout, it's the songs, the beats, you know,
- 26:33all right, we got two tracks to compare to. We got two
- 26:37rollouts to compare to, you know what, we got bars delivery to compare.
- 26:48What are what are we? What are we talking about here? What
- 26:51are we really talking about? Like? And I don't want to, you
- 26:56know, derail, because I know we got much more too to to,
- 27:00you know, to discuss. But you know, overall, man, after
- 27:07thinking about this, I think it's gonna come down to people's like preference,
- 27:14you know, I think it's gonna come down to people's preference. But you
- 27:19can't wipe away history. What's done has been done you know, and you
- 27:29know Tom Mattel and things will will come out in the in the in the
- 27:32wash. But I think you know right now with the reactions and things like
- 27:37that, is it's what people prefer, yeah, because I mean, honestly,
- 27:45you know when you look when you look at the reactions to like that,
- 27:49and then you look at the reactions to push up, it's it's not
- 27:56necessarily a divide, but it is right. They're just certain sector fans who
- 28:02won't who just don't like Drake. They just they don't like anything about him,
- 28:07anything against them they are for. They just don't care. Honestly,
- 28:11that's cool for them to have their opinion, but I don't base my opinions
- 28:15off of them, because I know what I like about Drake and what I
- 28:19listened to and the things I respect, including the battle rap stuff like back
- 28:25to Back and duppy freestyle and stuff like that where you got busy with it,
- 28:29right. But we also know people on the other side who feel the
- 28:36same way about Kendrick. They don't really like Kendrick and stuff like that,
- 28:38so they really here just to pick a side and argue on social media all
- 28:44day about how much money people got and who did what and rumor and speculation
- 28:49and what somebody said and what somebody have and they don't really even know that,
- 28:55like it's just wild. But I did, like I was talking to
- 29:00earlier, and I was just looking at responses not only from the general public
- 29:07but also from notable MC's who I followed, and some were committed to saying
- 29:14some stuff like Jay Rock talking about you know, he fried him and put
- 29:18him in the hot grease for six minutes and thirty some seconds and fried them
- 29:23crispy, and I'm like, yeah, but he's doing then, or like
- 29:29Shaye Nawa just saying something quick like Kendrick did that or whatever to mad Skills,
- 29:36saying this is what we're looking for, And honestly, I think it's
- 29:41what Drake is looking for also, but he was so anxious at not hearing
- 29:45anything, and probably like Winston for the glows and the blook, we didn't
- 29:52even mention the real blows because as much as to ox point, as much
- 29:56as he touched on things that push a t or Rick Ross have said,
- 30:03he still said it in a way that was impressive. But more importantly,
- 30:08y'all looking for new things? What about that season desists of the like that
- 30:12record y'all Ain't here that one. It's in the same song. There's a
- 30:18history with Drake that's kind of being revealed that really don't have anything to do
- 30:23with us. It's just from a industry standpoint. Now, let me ask
- 30:30you this, right, and you know, obviously we can get more into
- 30:33the music, but with this joint, it just feels like it's so much
- 30:36more than that. When you look at how people say all these guys piling
- 30:41up on Drake. This also happened before. It was the same thing jay
- 30:51Z had. Everybody came out gay Zy, they would call him everything Gayzy
- 30:56Cisco, and it was just like, wow, it ain't just Nas,
- 31:00It's an onslaught and it made you think, what is he doing that?
- 31:07Have all of these guys who we had no idea didn't really mess with him
- 31:10like that coming out and saying yeah, Nas, Like what what was it
- 31:15so with Drake? When you look at all this season desists and you know,
- 31:19blah blah blah, And also sent a feature request to Kendrick that was
- 31:26in the song too. What do you think about just what's being revealed beyond
- 31:34you know, the songs with all these you know, artists and producers going
- 31:38at Drake. Yeah, man, it's it's it's crazy. It's crazy,
- 31:48and I just doubt these things would be mentioned in the record if it just
- 31:56wasn't authentic, if it wasn't true. I just don't got, shorty.
- 32:01I don't got your doing that. I don't got you're just gonna make up
- 32:07the whole cease and desisting just just because it sound good. Nah. I
- 32:14think that that was the thing. And so that speaks to the whole scheme
- 32:19of Drake playing rapper. I'm playing like I'm a part of this culture.
- 32:27But really I hear something that somebody said that I don't like. Oh,
- 32:34I want to send in the lawyers and the I don't want to sit in
- 32:37the record label. Hey nah, they got to pull that record. Wait
- 32:43a minute, Wait a minute, wait a minute. You know, I
- 32:47thought, I thought, you know, it's time to get on the clock.
- 32:52When the record couldn't get pulled, It's like, okay, let me,
- 32:57well, let me dial up so and so to get me over some
- 33:00some some eat so I can respond to dude. You know, Okay,
- 33:05I'm showing my my my I guess my bias because I think that that's what
- 33:12happened. I mean, we know that Drake has a history of ghost writers,
- 33:16so I think that that's what I think that's what happened. Sorry,
- 33:22but I'm not sorry. You know that. You know, so when the
- 33:27season decist didn't work, it's like, Okay, now now you have to
- 33:31fight. You gotta fight, you gotta come out the porch. And you
- 33:36know, the thing is again with the season desist news, it just makes
- 33:45it disingenuous because from the beginning when when Drake responded listen, I did not
- 33:52like to roll out. I thought all of that was corny. I thought
- 33:57all of that was whack the whole ai. Oh you know that wasn't the
- 34:00full track. I just did not like it. Okay, but I respect
- 34:08that he responded and he came he came back with a response. I do
- 34:15respect that, but then to hear that there was a cease and desist,
- 34:23then it just for me, it just nullifies. It's again, you just
- 34:30planning that you play at this culture and you're not really you. You're not
- 34:37who you are who you portray yourself to be. Yeah, it's it's really
- 34:45bad because for anybody watching, especially one particular dude who pulled up in my
- 34:52last episode and said, you know, I got a man crush on Kendrick.
- 34:57I just thank him for his common thanks for pulling up you already,
- 35:00we already got your money at the door. Okay, I have fun.
- 35:05We we don't acknowledge you, okay. But what I want people to get
- 35:10from this is these are the things that are being peeled back about a person
- 35:15that is trying to cover up things, because that's what you're doing. When
- 35:20you do that, You're trying to stop something from becoming bigger than you and
- 35:25impacting your situation, your music when it should really be about that. Like
- 35:31honestly, if Drake didn't respond and he dropped a two step jam, I'll
- 35:37just be like, well he bowed out, but this joint does sound crazy?
- 35:42Yeah, he back on right, get your money. I'm not mad
- 35:46at this is what you do. He us dancing and what I waving a
- 35:51head right right? Just know when you step off the plane, extortion is
- 35:58my middle name or whatever he's that, so you know Calli's no fly zone
- 36:04Drake. Sorry, but yeah, I mean one of one of the things.
- 36:08Also that it again a song with some of these things that are more
- 36:15revealing than the jokes within Kendrick's disk because people like to hang on to that
- 36:21because I get it. It's funny me too. I like humor. But
- 36:25just having major podcasters say, yo, I just text Drake he said that
- 36:32was like, Drake just text me back, said it got some nuclear for
- 36:37him. That's a play in itself, because you know these casts have followings.
- 36:45You're sending the record directly to them because you want them to do the
- 36:51work of you know, promoting and making it big and making it seem like
- 36:55this thing they did, Yeah, they did job, you know, as
- 37:00far as that. But now, for example, using academics, because I
- 37:06gotta give him a shout out, Like I felt like if I could go
- 37:08to him, I know what's real at least, you know, and to
- 37:14look at random posts and to watch him get the Drake disc this, and
- 37:21you know, he playing and he's breaking it down, and then he get
- 37:23the Rick Ross disc directly from Ross and he playing that and breaking it down.
- 37:30But Kendrick like, nah, you get me. And then it puts
- 37:36everybody back in in space of neutrality, and like, Okay, you go
- 37:40to the store just like we go to store. You go listen just like
- 37:44we listen or we listen together, and it just to me, it it
- 37:50just doesn't look good for Drake to have all these other antics in it when
- 37:55it should just be about the bars. Like what we say everybody a student
- 38:00of the game to a real student, pull up, this is what a
- 38:05real student does like and you know, like, I know, Drake,
- 38:09you probably got another one. But before I even say that, let's let's
- 38:17really like, let's talk about not necessarily responses. But well, yeah,
- 38:24let's get into that because I don't want to talk about this other thing to
- 38:28the end. But let's just talk about basically where Drake is at this point.
- 38:35When a record like this happens and it feels like the majority of the
- 38:40community of hip hop fans is looking at it like, wait, hold up,
- 38:45am I frozen? No? You're not frozen? Okay, I'll cut
- 38:49that out forty when it looks like the majority of hip hop is responding positive
- 38:57positively and breaking down everything and saying you lost, but more importantly, whatever
- 39:05you were holding on to, there's a lot of things you have to address.
- 39:08And I'm gonna just say a few real quick right before become the UI,
- 39:13because there are things that you haven't addressed, like, we get it
- 39:16something. You just heard the song, Drake. So there's some stuff you
- 39:20gotta addressed. But there's a couple of themes, right because we know he
- 39:24probably addressed his son's situation by taking a lot of photos with him, right.
- 39:30You know, hey, y'all, here you go, he with me,
- 39:35thanks pusher, you know, with me and my son's life. You
- 39:39know, outside you know, not that he wouldn't have done that, but
- 39:44you know now you had no choice, you know, because now people don't
- 39:46put your business out there. But that the ads he can address it if
- 39:52you want to or not. He probably won't. But most importantly the end
- 40:00word. Rick Ross's talking about what he only referred to you as white boy
- 40:06now and then Kendrick like, I don't really like when he say the end
- 40:09word. Maybe it's just me. We don't want to hear you say the
- 40:16N word again. I how does this if you? If you and Drakes
- 40:22Camp and he like yo, I need the ghostwriters to form like votron.
- 40:29I how do I respond to some of these allegations? Hmmm? I mean
- 40:42I think what he may do, he's gonna try, he may and he
- 40:51may not. But what I think what typically what they may do is just
- 40:59try to come back with you trying to acknowledge like, oh you woke,
- 41:04you got these woke bars, you woke. Won't want to hear none of
- 41:07that woke. I think that's what they made. That may be the angle,
- 41:15but it's like, I'm not sure that that's gonna that's gonna work.
- 41:22Like the you know, the cat is out of the is out of the
- 41:25bag, like you, that aspect about you. We just keep shining the
- 41:35shining the light on it. And like you said, it hasn't been a
- 41:38dressed like right, and it's this this whole theme of a black face,
- 41:45like yo, you're putting on like you really not. You're not You're not
- 41:55You're not one of us. You're just trying to play like you playing like
- 41:59what you think with this this culture is like, Okay, this is what
- 42:06they would like and I mean not what they would like. I guess they
- 42:10do like it because you know with with h what is that sexy red?
- 42:16You know she's successful, she she popping right now. So I guess that
- 42:22that's his example, that's what he could point to. But even with that,
- 42:28with you know Kendrick addressing that in a roundabout way like, yo,
- 42:34you you're giving props and you you you you you you you speaking on these
- 42:40relationships and you you you like you, you're promoting all the messy stuff,
- 42:46and y know, we ain't. We ain't really we ain't feeling that.
- 42:51So again, if it's Drake's can't they probably gonna come back like you won't.
- 42:58We don't want to hear none of that dog, you know, And
- 43:00it's like, I don't think you can get that off. Yeah, no,
- 43:07it'd be tough to get that off because he said so much, right,
- 43:09because if you try to make it woke, well what's woke about telling
- 43:15you there's a no fly zone? You're gonna get extorted soon as you step
- 43:16off the plane, Like what are you gonna say? Hey, love me
- 43:22and CALLI? When he's like, yo, we don't like y'all, and
- 43:27he using Canadian slang like like keep him up there, don't come around here.
- 43:37We don't care if you don't like the West Coast. We good,
- 43:39Like it's just to me in a lot of ways, just really quick kind
- 43:45of doubling back, like because the ghostwriter thing was another thing he's never really
- 43:51completely openly addressed. Yeah, most rapids could be like, Yo, my
- 43:54pen game is insane or something like that. But Yo, you got Yachty
- 43:59right for you like my like you, he need the sauce, Like you
- 44:13clearly need the sauce, yo, So what do you? Like? You?
- 44:19You and and push ups you. You was fighting back and it looked
- 44:23like like yo, you know, I'm the one you come to for the
- 44:28hits. Like so he was fighting back like nah, I'm I'm the sauce.
- 44:32But it's like, no, you're not the sauce if you need yo,
- 44:37Like the reference track is out there, so you're not really the sauce
- 44:43like that, like you he out with the sauce. It kind of explains
- 44:47a lot too, because on this podcast, I've given Lil Yachty a lot
- 44:52of grief. He's just becoming the post child for what I think is whack
- 44:57and new right, and especially when he was like, Yo, I'm this,
- 45:02I'm not. But I know why he's saying that, because if you
- 45:06writing hit records for this dude and your own may not be popping. But
- 45:10you know, yo, I've wrote that, y'all love that record. I
- 45:14wrote that. You feel some kind of way like yo, you know,
- 45:20like the worst thing that can happen to Drake is if that dude start talking.
- 45:23Oh no, you know what I'm saying. You want to get started?
- 45:29I wrote this, wrote that, blah blah blah, And I think
- 45:35one of the things I wanted to say, as far as like the exposure
- 45:37of Drake, you know, his tactics have been seen even on lower levels
- 45:44right and in some cases rightfully. So I feel like, yeah, you
- 45:47know Boxing as an example, you can watch whatever whatever you want to watch
- 45:53from Boxing on YouTube free of charge. It ain't tied to nothing, right,
- 46:00Yeah, maybe they got to blank out of HBO or showtime here,
- 46:04but there's just no license situation taming that in a way it is for like
- 46:08a WWE or UFC or NBA stuff like that, people have to license that
- 46:15stuff to use it. And with Drake, you use a beat on social
- 46:21media, it's going down or it's getting flagged. So I get it for
- 46:25him, you know, I don't think nothing's wrong with that, but I
- 46:30think once you start to again use it, similar to the j Cole thing,
- 46:35using that legal leverage to try to get things to happen, but then
- 46:40posing like I'm this casual and all I care about is my pen game and
- 46:46y'all don't know, but you're using other tactics and some people will say,
- 46:51well, it's chest not checkers, nah man, we never believed in that
- 46:53jay Z won the war stuff. It's stupid because he didn't just apologize back
- 46:59then, and he apologized recently right at a show where he was like,
- 47:05I should have never done that because he cared about hip hop. Now we
- 47:09happy it happened because it was a dope battle. But again with somebody like
- 47:16Drake, it's just exposing aside to him that he know. That's why cease
- 47:21and desists is damaging to his image. You know, it could make people
- 47:28like, yo, you're not really full of culture. And with the N
- 47:31word situation, when I first saw the video, he used it like my
- 47:37son would say, he no, he used a hard geer when you start,
- 47:45why are you talking like that? You know me and my niggers like,
- 47:51really, that's you just really did you missed? You failed to test
- 47:57in your black class or whatever. And it's documented, it's documented and top
- 48:02every time. And that's exactly why Kendrick was like, I don't really like
- 48:07he literally took a break in the song I don't really like when he say
- 48:12that, Like, I don't like the way he sounds when he says that.
- 48:16Maybe he ain't that deep. But I hate it right right, I
- 48:21hate that. I just hate the way I don't. Yeah, it's it's
- 48:25crazy too, because again, those are the things that resonate with people and
- 48:31it becomes relatable. Right. Like, again, we're fans of hip hop.
- 48:36So if if Drake hits you with a bar that flipped something Kendrick says
- 48:42in l way, we're gonna be like that one was mean, right then?
- 48:45Yeah, that old Mike, Mike Jack, what do you say?
- 48:51What do you say? What's what's the uh? What's that? What's a
- 48:53prince to a king? Son? That was hard? Right right? That
- 49:00was And that's the kind of thing we expected, you know what I'm saying.
- 49:06But when a dude brings in this is why you got to address it,
- 49:09Drake, When a dude brings in the integrity of your pen game.
- 49:15By having ghostwriters, it just makes future and metro Booman's bar even better.
- 49:22We don't trust you. We don't even know if you wrote that, because
- 49:28what else is documented. He's been singing with some of the greatest ghostwriters of
- 49:32all time. He even was hanging around that scene for a minute and it
- 49:39was well known, and they would never say that because a bag is a
- 49:43bag. You know, some of that hip hop off what's coming from them,
- 49:51you know, but it's it's insane when you think about it, because
- 49:55again it's hip hop. We all enjoyed hit the like button. Men here,
- 50:00let us know what you think about some of the things we're saying.
- 50:04So let me ask you this. You kind of touched on it earlier.
- 50:10When it's all said and done, is this one of the best disc records
- 50:15of all time? Or do we anticipate that coming from either Drake or Kendrick.
- 50:23Wow, is it the best of one of the best of all time?
- 50:31I think I think you gotta give it time. I mean, I
- 50:37know I like to listen to it. I know it's a it's a dope
- 50:45song, best of all time? Man, I don't know. I don't
- 50:58know, man, I don't know. I think I think Drake could respond,
- 51:07but I don't. I don't have him responding with the the best.
- 51:14If he does, I would be impressed. Well, I just I don't
- 51:20see it. I don't see it based on push ups. I don't see
- 51:24it. I see with this record this now when you it's it's again,
- 51:31I'm getting ether vibes. This is another vocabulary word within the lexicon of hip
- 51:39hop. Now only time of tell if it's gonna have that last thing.
- 51:45But I'm getting that vibe. Now, every time you see that word,
- 51:51we gotta attribute it to him. Now that's just what it is. Now.
- 51:55Yeah, I think we already did. To be honest, Yeah,
- 51:59I think that. I think that's what it is. Like you're gonna think
- 52:02of, You're gonna think of you're in this culture, You're gonna think of
- 52:07damn. Yeah, remember when when when Kendrick got that. Yeah, that's
- 52:12when when Kendrick got at Drake. I. Again, when we're looking at
- 52:17rollout and things like that, push ups is not giving me the same.
- 52:21It's not giving like the young it's not giving me that, you know what
- 52:28I mean. Euphoria Yo, that's it again in the lexicon. You know,
- 52:35I don't got people saying, oh you got euphoria and all of that.
- 52:37I don't think we're gonna take it there. But now when you see
- 52:42that word, it has a different association. Now, yeah, I agree,
- 52:49and honestly, for people watching it's it's less about what we feel about
- 52:53it, and really, honestly watching the reactions across the internet and and those
- 52:59that it's those reactions that seem honest. Honest doesn't mean you prefer Kendrick.
- 53:04Honest means you're really breaking down what happened and how you see it, whether
- 53:09it's each side. Some people can't really get with the delivery and didn't think
- 53:16it was that crazy. I don't see it being one of the greatest of
- 53:22all time because I still feel like the control verse hit me much harder than
- 53:28this did. I think as far as a dissection of somebody, which you
- 53:35know, you can say ETHERI was kind of the same thing. I just
- 53:37think it had a different impact because for those kids watching, the reason why
- 53:45some of these old heads are not impressed and calling the whole thing saw for
- 53:50everybody like is really because of the production, to be honest, because that's
- 53:53where it starts. The production is more of a vibe, a dance a
- 54:00most disc records weren't that, Like no Vasiline was over a dazz band,
- 54:07but it wasn't no party when you was listening to that music to those lyrics,
- 54:13you know what I'm saying you didn't say, oh, I like,
- 54:15you know disco jazz, I like that joint. No, it was like,
- 54:17did you hear what he said? So the beat or like when Jada
- 54:22Kiss responded to Beanie Siegel, you know, I'm stunting on you on the
- 54:25disco beat. It wasn't the beat. It was the fact that, like,
- 54:30yo, he going crazy on this joint. And I think that's what
- 54:34Kendrick did, and I think it's going to be memorable. I think it's
- 54:37one of the better disc records. But I just kind of feel like Control
- 54:44was just more like and I guess it was just the energy. Again,
- 54:47when you look at listen to the Takeover or you listen to Etha, those
- 54:52beats sound like something monument like there's a big battle happening. That have a
- 54:58big sound to him, whereas these are more like, you know, I'm
- 55:04flexing and I'm gonna kick a little rap about him while I'm in here vibing
- 55:07to this track. But I think Kendrick sitting on that one. I think
- 55:13he's sitting on the grimy joint because there's no and I think Drake but see,
- 55:19this is the thing with Drake Man because of the euphoria. There's no
- 55:27way you're sitting on something that addresses everything there. No, you gotta go
- 55:31back right, you gotta go, you gotta go, sit back down.
- 55:36And that I think that's what's crazy about about Kendrick is he he addressed everything
- 55:45I was in pushups, because you know, that's the mythic, the mythological,
- 55:52you know. And even I was thinking that, like, oh yeah,
- 55:54if he if he went in with control, you know, he probably
- 56:00just been laying he probably got stuff that And no, that's not what this
- 56:05was. This was the response to everything YO said and push ups, everything
- 56:14with a with a sprinkle of here's what I what I think about you initially
- 56:21like you got that set up in the beginning, but then everything else was
- 56:24like a response to what he was, to what he said, and push
- 56:29ups like trying to imply that you being that he's being extorted, you know,
- 56:35give me fifty and it's like, I don't want to hear all that.
- 56:37You get off the plane. That's my middle name, and then shout
- 56:44out, YO, shout out who you who you saying is doing that to
- 56:47me? So all that we just nullify all of that, you know.
- 56:53So and look, let's just let's just be clear. Top Dog tweeted,
- 57:00we remember everybody who said something where you stood, so I mean, I'm
- 57:05not quoting them, but he basically said that and he ain't tad it in
- 57:08that way like we saw everybody And I'm like, okay, so you think
- 57:16but again, when you sitting outside of it, we think you win it.
- 57:23But it's clear you sitting outside of it and trying to say, oh,
- 57:28this one and that one and this one, but all of them don't
- 57:34like you. It's it just makes it seem like you making stuff up around
- 57:40Yes. Man. See, at least with j Cole, he was trying
- 57:45to do something hip hop. He just fumbled it. And maybe that's why
- 57:51he apologized, because he truly was never into it. That's why he wrote
- 57:54that. Obviously he waited for us all to tell him it was like then
- 57:58he said that, but because then you would have never put it out.
- 58:02But with with Drake, it just feels like if he responds, it has
- 58:09to address these things on a certain level, like honestly, it should probably
- 58:14be less vicious and more honestly if he talked about more about I mean,
- 58:22trust me, in the hood, they not gonna care. But if he
- 58:25talked more about like what it's like to be a mixed child and have to
- 58:30deal with people telling you you not black. Oh that's a different feeling.
- 58:37You could you earn a couple people with that, Like damn, I never
- 58:43even thought about that. You know, like you can, you can literally
- 58:47you can turn them on your said, Drake, y'all hit me up.
- 58:51Hey, I need a couple of stacks. Though I don't tell nobody like
- 58:54you don't tell everybody else but Kendrake with you dog, But I will write
- 59:00against you though right now at me. You know, I'm kind of dunk
- 59:04skin, you know, so you got one. But you know what I'm
- 59:07saying, like, use that against them, right like, yo, look
- 59:15sunk. Get into the history, like you got a black family, tell
- 59:21like unless you just shunning them, tell him about that, like, Yo,
- 59:25my aunt t T used to do this and blah blah blah, let's
- 59:29get into it. I'm black too, Like go there, Yeah, I
- 59:34would be impressed. Yeah, but he but he can when you say me
- 59:39and my like you can't. Is it dead based on based on history shows?
- 59:49Is it there that that's the question? That is what you know?
- 59:53Basically with Kendrick and Rick Ross and all of it is like, was it
- 59:59ever there? Or this was just a you know, rap endeavor, this
- 1:00:07was just an initiative on your on your vision board. Well well look okay,
- 1:00:15let me ask you that, do you think based off of not even
- 1:00:19just the disc records, but just the history of this cat and things he's
- 1:00:23done and said and moves, do you think it was ever there or is
- 1:00:29it, like you know, like to your point, something that's being used
- 1:00:32to you know, capitalize off of basically on face value. M hmm.
- 1:00:45It looks like business moves to me on face value. You know, we
- 1:00:50go from Texas to to Patois and you know, I'm down with the Jamaican
- 1:00:55and it's like we're doing all this hopping around. But then on the tape
- 1:01:04you sound like that, and it's like if on t t and them,
- 1:01:10if you was really around them, like you know, you had no business,
- 1:01:17You had no business with things being communicated that way right right, you
- 1:01:22know, So it just makes me think that no, you know, this
- 1:01:27is it's business. It's an opportunity hip hop is there. You know,
- 1:01:32I've got to look, I'm talented, i could sing. It's business let's
- 1:01:38let's get to this, let's get to this money. You know, some
- 1:01:43people may go as far as to say a plant and things like that for
- 1:01:46those you know, those people that want to do theories and things like that,
- 1:01:51but it just looks like looks like business to me. You know,
- 1:01:55it's two different two different approaches when we're talking about the two mcs, two
- 1:02:04different walks of life. And I think authenticity is authenticity is in question now
- 1:02:15if we're saying, you know, authenticity don't matter. I just I just
- 1:02:19want to feel good and throw on the track and I just want to b
- 1:02:23bop my head. You know, if that's where we are and the culture
- 1:02:28now, then yo yos yo is king, you know. But if we're
- 1:02:32gonna get to you know, we were gonna get to the nineties, you
- 1:02:39know, real recognized real, keeping it real. You know, he's not
- 1:02:45really he's not keeping it real. If you are sending out ceasing desists on
- 1:02:52one hand, but then on the other hand, I'm gonna put the battle
- 1:02:55together. And you're telling you know, you're telling academics, oh yeah,
- 1:03:02that like that, and academics you know it's saying, yo, you better
- 1:03:07respond. You gotta respond and His response is you must not know me well
- 1:03:12or I'm on that like when was this was this before or after? The
- 1:03:19season? Desists? Right? I think you make a great point because it's
- 1:03:24it's fair to assume it was before because Rosenberg said this on Twitter. But
- 1:03:34I had already been thinking it. I just after a while was exhausted talking
- 1:03:37to you know, these random one track mind people. Either way, I
- 1:03:43didn't like how it felt like Drake was thirsty for Kendrick to say something.
- 1:03:50And where I'm from, where I'm from and some of you are from.
- 1:03:53That's nervous energy for you to constantly yo, where you at? Oh I
- 1:03:59got of Compton? U sweat on? Did you go to compan to get
- 1:04:02that yourself? Because that's that's the thing, right like this, And really
- 1:04:12we can't blame Drake for the antics because really fifty Cents started those kinds of
- 1:04:16antics with all this extra stuff around it. But he was just he was
- 1:04:20funny. He was funny with it, like you know, he was funny
- 1:04:26and authenticity. It just felt more authentic man it because I mean, you
- 1:04:33know, Yo was getting into knife fights and getting stab It's like, yo,
- 1:04:38they he really you really like out here trying to he wilding and he
- 1:04:45don't care. And and in one end he's kind of keeping it light and
- 1:04:48humorous, but on the other end there's all this danger. It's like,
- 1:04:54you know, we don't hear, we don't hear anything about that. You
- 1:04:58know, somebody might type in the comments, but you know, I don't
- 1:05:01remember Yo trying to put like a season desist out on Jada Kiss, Like
- 1:05:08YO, you got you know, I mean he threatened. He did threaten,
- 1:05:13like I pushed styles out, like it was like a bar, like
- 1:05:19not only would you know the violence, but like I'll push pushed like his
- 1:05:25album back, not just right right, you know so, like I got
- 1:05:30some juice over here, you know so. But that's the thing he put
- 1:05:35it in in bars. He didn't go ahead. I think some I think
- 1:05:43some of it though. It's like, if you look at the Rick Ross
- 1:05:45situation, right, he basically had a sketch comedy show going parallel to anything
- 1:05:50he was saying. But I think it's what a generation latches onto about the
- 1:05:57battle right because at one point, no rapper in the history of battle rap
- 1:06:03referred to sales as the reason why they was better than their counterpart. They
- 1:06:10just battled them and a comedy usually came from you know, how a person
- 1:06:15looked. You know what I'm saying. In Star Trek Shades, I think
- 1:06:18that's what Ell said about Kumo d and stuff like that. So it was
- 1:06:24but that's the nature of it, right, there is some comedy in it.
- 1:06:27But with Drake, he just was like, I don't know why he
- 1:06:30would think, knowing he does cease and desist like clockwork, that it would
- 1:06:39be okay at this moment in the history of music, especially when it's been
- 1:06:44done to him of people using your voice, your likeness without permission. And
- 1:06:50he knew it was wrong, But why did it come out? You know
- 1:06:54what I'm saying, because it was really about trying to recapture what he did
- 1:06:59with Back to Back. But Kendrick ain't me right, there's not a You
- 1:07:05can only come up with your personal opinions about him. You can't come up
- 1:07:11with anything that we can point at and said, yo, he is kind
- 1:07:14of like Twitter fingers. So that's a hard line. Yeah, Nicki Minaj
- 1:07:18is better? Is that your world tour, your girls toy Like, yeah,
- 1:07:23that's complete facts. You know you you tried, You're trying to allude
- 1:07:30to all these things with uh with Kendrick, But in a lot of ways,
- 1:07:34he's kind of plugging those holes so you can't even get in like nullifying
- 1:07:41it. Which it's so, you know, are we chalking this up to?
- 1:07:48All right? This was his rebuttal. This was the rebuttal track,
- 1:07:53not the response with This was the rebuttal. I think so because you look
- 1:07:58at it. I mean, in a lot of ways, when people were
- 1:08:00like, yo, he got forty eight well Kendrick got forty eight hours and
- 1:08:04you know, too old Drake, they were responding to a verse and they
- 1:08:13put out full on songs basically, or Drake put out full on songs,
- 1:08:17two songs just one you'll never find because it only exists anymore. Ceason desists.
- 1:08:21Okay, uh, but now you have a rebuttal to Drake with this
- 1:08:29joint, which is like six minutes, and the rumor is that it's even
- 1:08:32longer than that, and that's probably what we're gonna get, probably gonna get.
- 1:08:35We probably gonna get another beat switched to exactly what boom back on.
- 1:08:40Who is saying this man what is going on? Like it's an EP?
- 1:08:46This man made it? How Drake could come back like yo, Okay,
- 1:08:53no, you got a lot of time on your you're thinking about me a
- 1:08:57lot. You didn't made it. That's why I felt like Drake needed to
- 1:09:03relax. He should have just dropped push up and and just waited, Yo,
- 1:09:09that's my that's my light. Jab let's go. You know, constantly,
- 1:09:15you know, posting on social media, posting pictures of yourself with the
- 1:09:19Compton joined on, you know, then dropping this Ai thing and thinking it
- 1:09:24was gonna be ill, but it really didn't hit that way. It just
- 1:09:30he kind of made himself look crazy. And meanwhile Kendrick like this, oh,
- 1:09:39oh you're done. Okay, what where? Oh it's gone now all
- 1:09:47right, right, so it's on the way. I got something on the
- 1:09:53way like right time they took it down. Oh, the family said,
- 1:10:00okay, right right. Oh. The family sent over this other information about
- 1:10:05the ring and bah which I forgot about. For those who don't know,
- 1:10:11Drake purchased Tupac's ring and had like a crown on it a while back.
- 1:10:15So that's why Kendrick was like, you know, I'll double that, you
- 1:10:21know, so he can get the ring back or whatever and Tupac roll in
- 1:10:25his grave. Because this Canadian dude got it on and I was just like,
- 1:10:29who was it? A bounty on it? Am I am? I
- 1:10:32being to to ghetto? Am I being too? Yeah? You going to
- 1:10:35the hood? Go get that ring cuz I double it. I double you
- 1:10:44get the yeah, which speaks too like what people don't get to like battle
- 1:10:49rap is. Early on, it was literally like sometimes it was face to
- 1:10:55face but literally you know, bar for bar it and the tooth that.
- 1:11:00And this the reason why I blame fifty cent because it was just the antics
- 1:11:04around it just got heightened and then other people took it there because y'all remember
- 1:11:11you two. I remember there was an error where dudes wasn't even battling.
- 1:11:15It was just like, oh they go game right there, we're punching Homie
- 1:11:18in the face, and the bushes like they not forty cow not even they
- 1:11:23not rhyming like no, I ain't rapping. I just caught you right.
- 1:11:28Oh look oh this rask has in the house getting what was happening, Like,
- 1:11:32oh they got Homie chained like so it's it's crazy and honestly, obviously
- 1:11:41for anybody watching, you know, we don't want anything to happen. We
- 1:11:45know I'll put they call me Vegas for a reason. I'll put money on
- 1:11:50it. Aubrey not gonna do anything. Okay, now, who knows,
- 1:11:57you know, who you run with and blah blah blah, and what said
- 1:12:00and what could happen? Obviously we don't want none of that to happen,
- 1:12:03right, We we wanted to stick the wax be about bars for bars.
- 1:12:08But honestly, when you're doing things like sneak dissing and then sending requests for
- 1:12:16features, right, who knows, maybe that was bait, right, or
- 1:12:23maybe it was real. Maybe it was the whole reason why we had to
- 1:12:25watch him practically proposed to j Cole on stage when he's saying he's like the
- 1:12:30best rapper ever. But maybe maybe Drake was trying to piece it all up.
- 1:12:34Yeah, maybe that was the right. But that's that's interesting, right
- 1:12:43right, get out of here. Yeah, just reject you. Ah.
- 1:12:49So yeah, man, I think you know, uh, like, I'm
- 1:12:54kind of glad we did this now because I don't think Drake is gonna wait
- 1:12:59that long mmm for this one. I think he's just gonna go with.
- 1:13:03I think he's confident enough and whatever he had, and he might tweak it
- 1:13:09here and there, you know, obviously to dress to cease and assist the
- 1:13:14sist join and maybe bar here and there. But I just don't see the
- 1:13:18ghost writer stuff being a thing. I don't see him addressing bb L Drake
- 1:13:26or whatever. He might say something about Ross, but I do see him
- 1:13:30responding sooner rather than later, because he just seems so anxious to get going.
- 1:13:38Yeah, yeah, he was. He was asking for it, like,
- 1:13:44yeah, he really, he really wanted it. And I just wonder
- 1:13:48because academic was a little subdued and his energy compared to the previous stuff.
- 1:13:55Now he was. He was kind of on fire when it was Rick Ross.
- 1:13:58But I think because Rick Ross responded within two hours of Drake's this,
- 1:14:05all the energy was just still there. And now when I watched him,
- 1:14:10he was kind of I didn't watch the whole live, but he kind of
- 1:14:13was like reving himself up to talk about it because you don't have you don't
- 1:14:17have a choice. But last thing, all right, so we don't we
- 1:14:27don't know where this is gonna go. But I gotta be honest, even
- 1:14:30with this Euphorius song, I kind of wanted to stop like this. There's
- 1:14:39been so much around this battle from fake Ai Drake the fake Ai Kendrick and
- 1:14:45is it real? And people not really even battling bars anytime Stephen as using
- 1:14:53a segment on his shoulder talk about it. I'm already disgusted. There's no
- 1:14:59way he even knows hip hop on that level. It's gonna be some cliche
- 1:15:02stuff like he did with boxing, and I'm just gonna kind of be like,
- 1:15:08man, get out here. But I'm kind of I'm good like I
- 1:15:12don't feel like. I don't even feel like Jay Cole is done like to
- 1:15:15me, I just want to get back to fandom at this point. Okay,
- 1:15:18you said what you said. You said what you said. Even if
- 1:15:21y'all drop something together, I'd be happy. But what do you think?
- 1:15:26I like? Where does this battle, even at this point, rank amongst
- 1:15:33you know, battle rap or do you just feel like you know it's cool?
- 1:15:39Now? Are you put it this way? You don't necessarily obviously have
- 1:15:44to feel the way I feel. But do you want to hear more?
- 1:15:47You know? Or you wanted to continue? Basically, yo, man,
- 1:15:53I think it's a good battle. Really don't need to hear anymore right there
- 1:16:02with you? I hate for this to stream to end on that note,
- 1:16:08But you know we yo, we just got to call a spade a spade.
- 1:16:12People when we're talking about who can rap better, I think it's it's
- 1:16:15obvious who can rap better. It just feels like now what I'm seeing,
- 1:16:23you know, with the online and you know, okay, that was light,
- 1:16:28that was mid that was we yo. We we're not gonna drag this
- 1:16:32out, you know, like this isn't what's the joints back in the days
- 1:16:39the peak Cutter. I don't need a whole peak Cutter tape of all uh
- 1:16:47Drake versus Kendrick. I don't need. I don't need that. I don't
- 1:16:53need that. I think it's obvious who technically can can rap, who has
- 1:17:01the technical advantage. I think it's obvious who has the popularity and the hit
- 1:17:10making advantage. I think that that's obvious. I think that that's there.
- 1:17:15We're talking about getting getting these things off your chest as far as who's the
- 1:17:18better m c yo, man, it's for me, it's there. It
- 1:17:27kind of stops at the at the whole ghost writing and it stopped right there
- 1:17:32like it's over at that point. Now we just yo, I got I
- 1:17:40gotta keep it one hundred and now we're just giving the internet something to react
- 1:17:45to, you know, and the Internet is a part of the culture.
- 1:17:49See now I'm getting on my old man, you know what I mean.
- 1:17:53Now all the gray and all the yo you from the nineteen hundreds, Now
- 1:17:57all that's gonna come out, you know, yo man, Like we get
- 1:18:00into the I just I just want something to react to. Now, give
- 1:18:04me the next thing that I can put the thumbnail. Well I'm you know,
- 1:18:09oh my gosh, Like, give me the next thing. But where
- 1:18:12are we? Where is this going? Like when the NFL is gonna be
- 1:18:17satisfied that? Okay, they said what they said, who is the clearly
- 1:18:24the better rapper? I think you got that between the two tracks, now
- 1:18:30right, I think you got it. Oh no, you know that was
- 1:18:33mad. You know, we're gonna get the next like you know how many
- 1:18:36of these we gotta do? Yeah, I mean when you think about it,
- 1:18:42since people like to compare, and I like how you basically looked at
- 1:18:47what Drake was good at and why he's top at what he does for that,
- 1:18:51and what Kendrick is good at and why he's better than him in that
- 1:18:55regard. Because, again, to use another boxing analogy, styles make fights
- 1:19:01that's not a cliche. That's what makes this interesting because they're so different in
- 1:19:09their origins, they're so different in their delivery, their fan bases, what
- 1:19:14the expectations of these fan bases are, and that's kind of why you want
- 1:19:17to see it, and they're the biggest ones to do it. J Cole
- 1:19:23just basically decided that they wanted to I'm out, and which is terrible because
- 1:19:32I'm like, he the one we really we really want a matchup. It
- 1:19:39was those two. If we talk about he got it, who's going to
- 1:19:44win? Yeah, But I mean to your to your point again, I
- 1:19:51just kind of feel like, and maybe I'm just looking at too much social
- 1:19:58media, but a lot of ways I have to for my podcast and to
- 1:20:01you know, kind of absorb what people are saying. But it is that
- 1:20:06because it's the same thing with the music. An album can be great like
- 1:20:11Mister Morale and the Big Steppers, and it's all I see people talking about
- 1:20:15favorably on social media, and then the next week they're not talking about it.
- 1:20:21Well right, And a week after that, a dude pops up.
- 1:20:27Was it really hot? And that's where that's just where we are. You
- 1:20:30know, nobody the Internet culture, you know, is the again where we
- 1:20:40where we reacting. You know, we're reacting and we need something else to
- 1:20:47react to. You know, so yo, drop drop another one, keep
- 1:20:53dropping them, and then you know then we got to keep it one hundred
- 1:20:57get back on my old man, and we got even want it because you
- 1:21:02know, people eating off of that eating. You know, keep doing it,
- 1:21:09keep doing the bake breakdowns like I do as many breakdowns as I got
- 1:21:13to, just keep them, keep them rolling. It's like yo, like
- 1:21:18even doing breakdowns for the fake tracks. Come on, man, like I
- 1:21:26and look, some people just got to understand this internet culture, specifically YouTube.
- 1:21:32It's just what they do. Like they you know, content creators literally
- 1:21:38are looking for hot topics. Obviously we're making content, but this is not
- 1:21:45something I do all the time. Because this is important for hip hop.
- 1:21:49People were talking about bars. It is what we do, right, So
- 1:21:54the breakdown is necessary also to add a little contact to some of these things
- 1:22:01instead of it just being a hot topic that we cover because we want to
- 1:22:05hit the SEO properly and get everybody to jump in and you know, get
- 1:22:11them numbers ran up and put them ads on there. Yeah, subscribe button
- 1:22:16and get them brand deals. Yeah, did the episode on Drake Versus Kendrick
- 1:22:21where it broke down to we don't want to hear all that put our ad
- 1:22:26in the middle of your joint. That's just that's the that's what's happening,
- 1:22:30y'all. And then you've got the lower level ones on social media who will
- 1:22:34constantly just rip your thing and put it there and then create a discussion around
- 1:22:41there and monetize theirs. So it's it's all a game, and it's unfortunate
- 1:22:45because everybody can't be a content creator on the same level. Yeah, you
- 1:22:51know, and let me ask it's like you're you're, you're we're starting this
- 1:22:58whole notion of the MC's like you're you're you're approaching them or you're wanting the
- 1:23:06same want from them like their content creators. Like, Yo, I'm gonna
- 1:23:13just drop a live right down just this his whole family, Like that's how
- 1:23:16I'm gonna do it, Like and then you will get hyped for that,
- 1:23:21like it's like we're starting to go down that road, Like is that the
- 1:23:26expectation? You know? Like really like how many more of these? And
- 1:23:30then with the timing, yo on the clock? Yo, he got fifteen
- 1:23:36minutes. He don't, he don't do that. He lost. I'm gonna
- 1:23:42come out with the with the with the video and the thumbnail failed, you
- 1:23:45know, like, what is what is happening? What is happening here?
- 1:23:50You know? So and I again I can't I can't stop if that's that's
- 1:23:57where where it's going, and that's what the coach is, I can't stop
- 1:24:00it. But you know, I speak to my observations or what I'm seeing,
- 1:24:05you know. And and the thing is that's what I can again appreciate
- 1:24:11about both of them c's in this. It's like they are meeting the culture
- 1:24:20where they where it is, and even with their sounds like they're not trying
- 1:24:29to Like you said, Yo, let me, let me go back to
- 1:24:30the dungeons and just like no, like Yo, this is where this is
- 1:24:36my sound, This is where I'm at. Well, this is my signature
- 1:24:40sound, and this is how I'm going to approach this, this battle,
- 1:24:45which I think that's the essence of a hip hop. Like Yo, we
- 1:24:48get back to the ghost you know, the ghosts the shop. But I
- 1:24:51don't want nobody sounded like me on no album, right, and we we
- 1:24:58kind of we kind of getting that Drake, you kind of you messed it
- 1:25:00up with the AI stuff. It was all right, but then you did
- 1:25:05the Now you sounded like pop, but you sounded like snoop And then you
- 1:25:10want to jump back on and do your so you know you got the made
- 1:25:14up you know that that's where he kind of went left. But at least
- 1:25:20you know with the push ups. Yeah that was yo, Okay, that
- 1:25:27sounds like a Drake track Like that sounds like something he would rhyme. Two
- 1:25:32the cadences him like this is his style. He's in battle mode like yo,
- 1:25:39he get he get points for all of that, like he get props
- 1:25:42for all of that. And then again with you know, Kendrick coming back
- 1:25:46like yo, the rebuttal, this is my style. This is how I
- 1:25:51wrap. Now. It's got shades of you know what you say, the
- 1:25:56alien voices, got shades of that that's in it. So it's authentically him,
- 1:26:02you know. So yeah, man, I don't it'd be interested.
- 1:26:09I'm interested and where this would end or how how much does you know the
- 1:26:18hip hop community? How uh how long do they expect this to continue?
- 1:26:26You know, before we declare a winner? And what if you never get
- 1:26:31that Yo, It's just it's not the ether. I'm looking what if you
- 1:26:36never get it? Then? What what if it never never hits like that?
- 1:26:44See, now I want to keep this. We gotta keep it.
- 1:26:48We gotta keep it a certain way for the for the children, you know.
- 1:26:54But now this is this is this is really some crackhead behavior. You're
- 1:26:58chasing the hide that you're never gonna get ever again like that was that was
- 1:27:05for them when you first got it, that was for them. This is
- 1:27:10a new wave. It's a new day, it's a new batch. It
- 1:27:14ain't gonna hit like but for somebody that's coming up in the culture now that's
- 1:27:19our age that well, that's you know, within that that age bracket,
- 1:27:26that younger age bracket where it's happening for them in real time. They don't
- 1:27:30have a maybe like a history to go off of for them. This is
- 1:27:34that this is that hit for them. So again we'll see over time whether
- 1:27:42you fought where where it lands it could be it could be there, you
- 1:27:48know, ether for that generation out of that because you know, I think
- 1:27:56about it, like for those folks, you know, was was ether takeover?
- 1:28:02Was that the same for those folks? As if you know when we're
- 1:28:09talking about you know, the bridges over and and was that kill that noise
- 1:28:18and all that stuff? Like did they look at you know, the folks
- 1:28:25that were at that were adults and then at their prime, you know,
- 1:28:28their twenties and stuff when that stuff came out back then? Were they hip
- 1:28:33to what was going on with ether and takeover? Where they like, yo,
- 1:28:39we got what were they in it like that? Where they I'm glad
- 1:28:43you said that because I'm gonna I'm gonna tell you the exhibit A. My
- 1:28:46my older brother, he's ten years older than me. I'm forty seven,
- 1:28:51so he'll be fifty seven in December. Sham was finished back in his day.
- 1:29:00Shaan was done, Busy Be was done when Kumo d smoked them.
- 1:29:04He was done back in his days. My brother is you would have thought
- 1:29:10Ether came out yesterday. Now that he has the context and has really listened
- 1:29:15to it, he can't stop talking about it. But when it was happening,
- 1:29:20we weren't having that discussion like that. I don't think we had it
- 1:29:25at all, to be honest, I think now he's been able to absorb
- 1:29:30and it's probably because the streaming services, right, you tell somebody, Yo,
- 1:29:33you need to listen to this and this, and they could just pop
- 1:29:36it right up back then. You know who played it is on the radio.
- 1:29:42You know I ain't gonna go buy it to listen to it, you
- 1:29:45know what I'm saying. So let alone by the whole album to listen to
- 1:29:48Etho or Takeover. So to your point, I think that's the key,
- 1:29:55because you know not to be labor this point, but because it our generation
- 1:30:00also. But what y'all gotta understand is this happens with every generation. You're
- 1:30:06watching the NBA. You hate the fucking you hate all of this. It
- 1:30:11ain't your error, dog, They're not grading on the same scale. They
- 1:30:16You can't talk to them about Michael Jordan like until they blew in the face
- 1:30:23because you watched them. I remember watching Michael Jordan feeling like he doesn't miss
- 1:30:27even though he does miss it, like he never missed, Like, oh,
- 1:30:32that's going in like every time. Right. So when they see Lebron
- 1:30:36and they know he got the all time points of record and he doing things
- 1:30:44at the age you're not supposed to do, they like this the goat,
- 1:30:47you know what I'm saying. But there was a generation before us. That
- 1:30:50was like doctor Jay's the goat for re cat the goat, the captain the
- 1:30:57goat, like like it just happens. And I like the point about all
- 1:31:02that way making about analyzing these two records having those types of beats because it's
- 1:31:11just going to be pleasing to them, Like I could bypass it because I
- 1:31:14ain't gonna From when the record first started Euphoria, I was kind of like,
- 1:31:18come on, Kendrick now, like dog, like with the slow mode
- 1:31:23with the alien voices, like dog, I don't want to I don't want
- 1:31:27to be those guys who are explaining. Well, what he was trying to
- 1:31:30do was I don't want to be that dog. I'm just ready for you
- 1:31:35to go in. Right you hear them horns, it's like, oh,
- 1:31:41there they go, like they go fazed. Right then it was like,
- 1:31:46oh now it's go time. Okay. And it wasn't until later when he
- 1:31:50said, can I make him bleed? Did I make him bleed yet?
- 1:31:54Okay, let's make it bleed, like oh, you're waiting more so in
- 1:32:00a lot of ways, again, I said it earlier. He's not only
- 1:32:05addressing points or you know, or basically put out a rebuttal to what Drake
- 1:32:13has put out and even you know, lightly what Cole has said. He's
- 1:32:17also bringing up new things. He's also doubling down on things that probably would
- 1:32:24push your tea. You kind of, you know, scurried it off,
- 1:32:28like, oh, he got a son. Okay, we over that his
- 1:32:30son is cute, and no, no, no, no, I wake
- 1:32:33my son up myself. If you're father and you ain't always gone, you
- 1:32:44know, especially if you didn't have a father to wake you up, you
- 1:32:47know the difference of how important that is, especially to black men. So
- 1:32:55in a lot of ways, it's just a or a deeper experience to hear
- 1:33:01somebody make a number of a point, a number of points that aren't just
- 1:33:06slander about somebody or just loose accusations. Things start to tie up. There's
- 1:33:14just nothing about Kendrick that we've heard that's kind of been you know, the
- 1:33:20secrets here and in as you kind of hear whispers of that, Kendrick just
- 1:33:25blows out and say, yeah, but y'all didn't know this. And I'm
- 1:33:28pretty sure there's something he gonna say a line or whatever that we won't really
- 1:33:32have any knowledge of. That we can just have to take at face value
- 1:33:35and say, oh I didn't know Kendrick was paying that guy or whatever the
- 1:33:41case. But this is six minutes and thirty some seconds of just dissection,
- 1:33:48basically and honestly to your point, when does it stop out? My old
- 1:33:58man kicked in. Maybe that's why I'm even hyped. I'm like, I'm
- 1:34:01done, right, I don't care if Kendrick say something else. I don't
- 1:34:08care if Drake say something else to me. This is sufficient now, since
- 1:34:13you wasn't on this other episode and we talked about it a lot, I
- 1:34:17just wanted to ask you this question. But this pertaining to j Cole before
- 1:34:20we get up out of here, everybody obviously says JA Cole apologized. You
- 1:34:29know, maybe he was right, you know, maybe he get out the
- 1:34:32way all of that stuff. Well, what do you think, Like,
- 1:34:36what can J Cole do next? Like does he have to address any of
- 1:34:43this at some point? Oh? Man, he drop his music unscathed from
- 1:34:48public scrutiny. Yo, man, I'm gonna sound horrible. I don't think
- 1:35:00I think he better just leave it alone. Just be done. You said
- 1:35:05you was done. Be done. Don't go back into don't open up the
- 1:35:13box. Don't you know I was sitting back and I was listening to I
- 1:35:18don't want to hear none of it. Don't do that. Don't you not
- 1:35:25do that? YO. Listen. At first, I was I was being
- 1:35:30a little a little hard body on YO, like you know, pause,
- 1:35:36But I was just like, Yo, Okay, I don't want to hear
- 1:35:41nothing but PM don raps from from cold from here on out, I'm not
- 1:35:45going I ain't. I'm not gonna go that hard like YO, do do
- 1:35:49your thing. You know what I'm saying, do your thing, rap your
- 1:35:54wrap your wraps, because we kind of see and even with this YO,
- 1:36:00I think with this response, I think Kendrick kind of gave him out.
- 1:36:06He got at him, he gave him a little jack, but he gave
- 1:36:11him out too, like, Hey, this was you know, this was
- 1:36:15just you know, friendly, you know, friendly spawn friendly. I forget
- 1:36:19what Zach Barr was, but yeah, he's alluding to that, like,
- 1:36:26Yo, man, it was it was just just rap. So now that
- 1:36:30kind of allows him to, YO, just just go go do your wraps,
- 1:36:34Go go do it, handle your business, you know. But I
- 1:36:41don't want to hear yo. You know. I was sitting back and I
- 1:36:44was listening to the No. I don't want to hear that, because the
- 1:36:50side of history that you're on, you're the guy that said, Yo,
- 1:36:55i't you know, I don't want no problems. I don't want nothing,
- 1:37:00So cool, keep it the way you don't want no problems, Wrap your
- 1:37:04raps. I don't want to hear no rap up about it. I don't
- 1:37:08want to hear your perspective on it. I don't want it. I don't
- 1:37:11want to hear none of that. I'm cool. I'm sorry, yo,
- 1:37:15I just don't just wrap your rap your raps, yo. Just you know,
- 1:37:20and we can because the thing is now we clearly kind of see that
- 1:37:29who all the smoke was really for. So just just let it be that
- 1:37:32then, like yo, man, that's that's y'all. Yo. Let it
- 1:37:36really be that, and you just get back to your raps. You know,
- 1:37:42is it gonna hit? Is it gonna take a hit? Will people
- 1:37:46maybe expect that? Like, yo, well, you gotta say something.
- 1:37:51And I think he just needed to just do his thing, man, just
- 1:37:56make some great songs, some great music, a hit with with dead all
- 1:38:02of it, right, you know what I mean? He had a hit
- 1:38:05record, you know, but what's that? What's that these days, you
- 1:38:12know, but if he if he had that, then he would be in
- 1:38:15the clear. But yeah, man, I think where it goes from here,
- 1:38:21just wrap, just do your thing, Dreamville, continue to feed your
- 1:38:28base because they're there. I don't think I would hope he didn't lose his
- 1:38:33hardcore fans or was hardcore base. I think they will still rock with him.
- 1:38:41I think so too. I think in a lot of ways, like
- 1:38:44you know, when we did you know, well, any of the coverage
- 1:38:47I did on it, especially after the apology, you know, it's kind
- 1:38:53of like how we felt in the moment, because like it's a battle.
- 1:38:56It's not gonna give it's gonna be this, It's not gonna be that,
- 1:39:00especially with you, right because I don't I don't think he got that kind
- 1:39:03of scheme for you. But I know it kept me from listening to Mike
- 1:39:11delete later because he really it really kind of took the wind out of a
- 1:39:16brother sales. I was just kind of like, man, I can't like,
- 1:39:20I can't press play on it right now because the minute he'd be like,
- 1:39:25I'm the goat, the g to I'm like, yo, because you
- 1:39:31you not like let me have to remove all goat bars right from number one,
- 1:39:39big tha, right, you would literally you literally have to take and
- 1:39:45he's very possible because not all his songs are about being number one. Just
- 1:39:50focus on the world around you. There's a lot to talk about, you
- 1:39:56know, like there's a lot you could talk about and and in that way,
- 1:40:01you'd be making a statement about your status in this game. And it's
- 1:40:06a part of the Big Three, and the back and forth will seem silly
- 1:40:11as a result, in my opinion. So I feel like, yeah,
- 1:40:15like I think because of the way he bowed out, you know, we're
- 1:40:18not angry hip hop haids who are like, nah, you know you ain't
- 1:40:24want that smoke Like yo, he made a dear Mama too that Nah,
- 1:40:27he ain't want that. We not like that, right, We don't need
- 1:40:32no hugs. We got knife work, gun work, like we have all
- 1:40:36kinds of work. Like, we're not like that. It's just that,
- 1:40:42you know, it was it was a huge disappointment, and I agree with
- 1:40:45you. I just feel like, just make your music. And you know,
- 1:40:49it's the same thing with these guys, like this is the unfortunate part.
- 1:40:56The Internet ain't gonna let it go though, Dang, you want Aubrey
- 1:41:00pop up with a new hop and we like, yo, it's summertime.
- 1:41:04I kind of like this joint. Somebody would be like, nah, that
- 1:41:09euphoria. Though as soon as Kendry pop up, Yo five yo. He
- 1:41:15cooked while he took so long, it's not gonna go away. But just
- 1:41:23like Nons and jay Z haven't And just for y'all who don't know, there
- 1:41:27are people to this day who will sway up and down that jay Z won
- 1:41:31and it was a good battle, and really it was only a verse when
- 1:41:36you think about Takeover. It was a verse amount, nots ether was an
- 1:41:40entire song, but it was so overwhelming that it was like even jay Z
- 1:41:45fumble, like it was get super ugly, beat the commas on your baby
- 1:41:49seat. Then you gotta apologize and Mama said, it's just crazy, you
- 1:41:55know. So again we're all excited because we hip hop peg. You know,
- 1:42:00it may not be what it was when we were coming up, and
- 1:42:03it may be happening in a different way. I think the more context you
- 1:42:08have on what's happening around these artists, the more you understand what Drake's saying,
- 1:42:15the more you understand what metro Booming's saying what Ross is saying, what
- 1:42:21Kendrick is saying, the more you know about the situation, just like battle
- 1:42:27rap, because you can't just pop in the battle rap and hear somebody like
- 1:42:30you sign them papers though, and you see the crowd go crazy and you
- 1:42:33don't know what he's talking about. The line won't resonate. So you have
- 1:42:39to know everything, like what's to do, why n W or whatever,
- 1:42:46Like, if you don't know who that is and why he's relevant to that
- 1:42:53bond that Kendrick put out, you don't get it. You don't get the
- 1:42:59line. But just for those who like, hey, I heard that part
- 1:43:01and he was talking about friends, Well the dude is accused of killing two
- 1:43:04friends. So now go back double back to the bar and you're like,
- 1:43:09oh, that's what you need. That's hip hop. I think it's album
- 1:43:13or song murder on my mind, that's that's the day of the track to
- 1:43:17right right. So yeah, so you would have to you have to know,
- 1:43:25like and again, that is a cultural that's that's the cult. That's
- 1:43:30the culture. Now, that's the culture now like so yeah, but again
- 1:43:41you know it's you want to dip your toe in that water. That just
- 1:43:45to see. Okay, then you you you had to do your homework and
- 1:43:49figure it out. That's just what it is. If you're not, if
- 1:43:53you haven't been listening, you know, but if you you tune into shows
- 1:43:58like this, because that's what I do when you were talking earlier, I'm
- 1:44:01one of those listeners. I need to tune into the show so I get
- 1:44:05caught up. Okay, this is what's happening. This is what's going on
- 1:44:09now. So yo, you want to know what's happening in hip hop?
- 1:44:13Yo, you gotta subscribe, tune in right here, you know. Yeah?
- 1:44:17Definitely. Man, So we said a lot, But what do you
- 1:44:21think about this whole battle? Is this round one? Is it over?
- 1:44:26Is euphoria? That? Do you feel like all these responses, this entire
- 1:44:30battle has been light? Leave your comments in a comments seestion below. Doesn't
- 1:44:34matter if you love Drake, love Kendrick, love j Cole. I've purchased
- 1:44:40multiple, multiple albums from all of them. I'm an actual fan, even
- 1:44:45physical CDs, but I don't have no where to play them. I ain't
- 1:44:47gonna lie. But this is not about pick a side. You can,
- 1:44:55but it's really about hip hop and analyzing somebody parts of this particular battle and
- 1:45:02just again we said a lot that feels in favor of Kendrick. But there's
- 1:45:08one thing you can never take away from Drake. He ain't never duck no
- 1:45:12smoke. It's big time to say you battle Joe Budden, and you battle
- 1:45:17push a T and Meek Mill, who wasn't no slouch. He come from
- 1:45:20battle rap and now you battling Kendrick. That's a nice roster of people.
- 1:45:28There's a certain person who I referred to as the Goat who's also never ducked
- 1:45:31smoke like that. You know what I'm saying Now, I'm not saying he's
- 1:45:34in, but nevertheless, what he's doing is hip hop. It's just that
- 1:45:42nowadays, you know, people have a lot more information and now we gotta
- 1:45:45check the seal on some of Drake's This record is like, hold up,
- 1:45:49fam this made in China. Man said, yat, he wrote this?
- 1:45:57What I don't even like? God? What do you mean he wrote this?
- 1:46:00I like trick. So leave your comments in the comments section below.
