- 0:26Speaker 2: Times we have a book, we read it, we shall
- 0:29Speaker 2: If you know a person and stop through with any
- 0:33Speaker 2: kind of place, please ask the book flower.
- 0:42Speaker 1: My name is me.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Okay, my name is Mila. Right, bere you guys, check
- 0:52Speaker 3: out that book.
- 0:56Speaker 1: That's you. That is the boat.
- 1:01Speaker 3: The cover the cover has a cage.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Like open.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Right, Okay, so no, the cover the cover has and
- 1:20Speaker 2: the open door.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Right, but there is a person spunged up in there.
- 1:28Speaker 4: That was me.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I was inside of a cage and I couldn't see
- 1:34Speaker 1: that the door was open.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 1:38Speaker 6: This this pretty decoration that looks like the door actually eleven.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Works mm hmm.
- 1:47Speaker 6: And there are words that kept me trapped, the station,
- 1:54Speaker 6: silent secrets, favre on worthy self for moving, and.
- 2:02Speaker 4: There is only one word that was a positive word,
- 2:08Speaker 4: and I couldn't see it, and it's free.
- 2:11Speaker 1: The door was open.
- 2:13Speaker 7: But many times we are so trapped within what has
- 2:18Speaker 7: happened to us, and sometimes we just can't get out.
- 2:22Speaker 1: We don't know how to.
- 2:25Speaker 7: To the point that I tried committing suicide three times
- 2:31Speaker 7: because I am asking.
- 2:33Speaker 1: God take me away from it. I don't want to
- 2:37Speaker 1: leave this life. It was almost ninety years of.
- 2:41Speaker 7: Sexual ease and physical evils for a mental us something.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I was thirty.
- 2:51Speaker 7: Anyway, it was hard to understand life because this life became.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Normal to me. But God get pointing to the open door.
- 3:03Speaker 8: But I could only side the bars created by those doors,
- 3:09Speaker 8: and I was strapped.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So I told God damed me, just take me, and
- 3:15Speaker 1: he wasn't deep.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So I said, I must be really be unlovable because
- 3:23Speaker 2: I tried to take my life. Hell doesn't want me
- 3:28Speaker 2: because I can't get it done, and I got to
- 3:33Speaker 2: take me and he doesn't take me. Well, one thing
- 3:39Speaker 2: I'm going to say is that when I was fourteen,
- 3:45Speaker 2: God called me and at that time, my mama gave.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Me permission to go party with the neighbor. And of
- 3:54Speaker 1: course she knew that I was not going to do.
- 3:57Speaker 9: Drugs or any say else because she would.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Take her. So she let me know.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I'm one Friday night, guess usful Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- 4:14Speaker 2: I was fourteen years old and this happened, and as
- 4:18Speaker 2: I'm getting ready, I heard the voice say, do not go,
- 4:25Speaker 2: and I was like, what.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Do not go? Do you understand that? My mom goes
- 4:30Speaker 1: let me go into here.
- 4:32Speaker 2: The only thing that go is at school. I can't
- 4:37Speaker 2: leave house. I can't leave her side.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I don't know if she was afraid. And I'm like,
- 4:42Speaker 1: tell someone, what what's going on with me? I am
- 4:45Speaker 1: no good?
- 4:47Speaker 2: But I said the voice again, do not go, and
- 4:54Speaker 2: I said I can. I cannot hear this voice. I
- 4:59Speaker 2: need to go, so onely freedom I am. And the
- 5:04Speaker 2: third time the voice was so powerful it was like
- 5:08Speaker 2: a thunder inside my ear. And he said, if you know,
- 5:14Speaker 2: you would not return.
- 5:17Speaker 8: I said, okay. My mom was mad at God. Okay,
- 5:22Speaker 8: So I said, okay, well I'm not going, but I'm.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Not going to church either, because we had started visiting
- 5:29Speaker 2: a church.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I said, I can't go, Marty not going to church.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Let's say, I said, Mom, if I'm go to church,
- 5:37Speaker 2: can still go Marty?
- 5:40Speaker 1: She said no, and she wasn't a Christian.
- 5:43Speaker 2: If you decided that you're going to cho serving God,
- 5:48Speaker 2: you can serve the world.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And I said okay. I said no church for me.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Three days later, I.
- 5:54Speaker 10: Was in church.
- 5:57Speaker 9: Excepting God anybody, and was really in every acad and
- 6:03Speaker 9: I asked, God, why are you showing up mom?
- 6:08Speaker 1: Why this is me at forty? Why are you showing
- 6:12Speaker 1: up now now that he abuses over.
- 6:15Speaker 7: It stuff when I was twelve, and now we can
- 6:19Speaker 7: show up that I don't medium kiss.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Everything is okay, silence, no answer.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Well, moving forward, I maybe twenty years ago. I'm sixty two,
- 6:36Speaker 2: so imagine from fourteen to forty two.
- 6:42Speaker 11: I I'm sitting talking to God and he says, he
- 6:49Speaker 11: remember question, and I'm like, Lord, I've asked your soul
- 6:53Speaker 11: many questions.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I don't even know which one. He said, I'm a
- 6:57Speaker 1: question and he brought into my spirit and I said
- 7:01Speaker 1: I remember.
- 7:02Speaker 2: He said, do you remember when he was doing stuff
- 7:07Speaker 2: to your body? And there were times that you were
- 7:12Speaker 2: looking at your body while you were somewhere else. I said, yes,
- 7:17Speaker 2: how did you feel where you were? And I said
- 7:23Speaker 2: I felt safe because the ID was over there, but
- 7:26Speaker 2: I was selfwhere else.
- 7:28Speaker 1: And he said, yes, you were safe because you were
- 7:33Speaker 1: in my arms.
- 7:36Speaker 2: That don't really change my life because I understood, and
- 7:40Speaker 2: God does love me. Sometimes his love is silence and
- 7:45Speaker 2: we don't see it, we don't feel it, we don't
- 7:48Speaker 2: understand it, but it's very real.
- 7:52Speaker 1: His love is faithful. It doesn't end, it doesn't change
- 7:57Speaker 1: because we make.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Mistakes because we'd sick because we run away from him.
- 8:02Speaker 1: It doesn't.
- 8:05Speaker 6: So I've been.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Trying to live my life for God.
- 8:10Speaker 7: Really, I think agreeing to the point where I don't
- 8:14Speaker 7: go at where.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I mean.
- 8:19Speaker 8: Another thing that's happened with me is that I have
- 8:22Speaker 8: been bys with.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Stage four and had a cancer.
- 8:28Speaker 8: And then because that's a very me, that I had
- 8:34Speaker 8: a grain stroke, that I had an ice droke.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I was like an ice trum, what is that? Who has?
- 8:42Speaker 1: And then about two months ago the old yeah, a heart.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Struck and I said, God's dreaming me because I didn't
- 8:50Speaker 2: feel the cancer.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I didn't feel the strokes.
- 8:56Speaker 8: To the point that I got home and I was
- 8:58Speaker 8: sitting there thinking about what enough to do me about
- 9:01Speaker 8: I'll get strong?
- 9:03Speaker 1: And I stood up from my chair and I started,
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'd be strong.
- 9:10Speaker 7: I don't know where there's something from.
- 9:15Speaker 12: So I was thinking women, Look, I didn't ve it
- 9:18Speaker 12: because I was in a conversation with God, said what
- 9:21Speaker 12: is it?
- 9:22Speaker 1: So I love him? It's okay, that's stroking. I'm not
- 9:28Speaker 1: guy stroking it all.
- 9:30Speaker 2: So you know, I have so much fun with God
- 9:33Speaker 2: because he allows me to laugh with him, to cry
- 9:38Speaker 2: with him. And yes, they're so faithful and I'm doing
- 9:43Speaker 2: my best to promote this book because I don't know.
- 9:46Speaker 1: The doctors don't know. They don't understand what's going on
- 9:50Speaker 1: with me. They tell me, we're definitely don't know. We
- 9:54Speaker 1: don't know a prognosis. We all have how long you're
- 9:57Speaker 1: gonna live.
- 9:59Speaker 10: We know that you I've had this cancer in your
- 10:01Speaker 10: body for more than twenty years, and we don't know
- 10:06Speaker 10: how you're still moving, you're still living because.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I travel all the time.
- 10:14Speaker 13: We don't know what's going on with you. And of
- 10:17Speaker 13: course they want to use me as a gin pig.
- 10:21Speaker 13: Go to God and ask him, because he has all
- 10:23Speaker 13: the answer. I said, I tell my doctor.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Now, my doctor had his cancer, and he looks at me,
- 10:30Speaker 2: and every time he walks in even nights up, every
- 10:33Speaker 2: time he sees me, he said, it's a narrow oh
- 10:37Speaker 2: my gosh, oh my gosh. And I'm like, no, it's
- 10:41Speaker 2: oh my god. It's because God has ingrained. And in
- 10:48Speaker 2: his book in nineteen ninety three, I told me to
- 10:51Speaker 2: write this book, and I was there. I was happy
- 10:55Speaker 2: because I was saying that spit out everything that had
- 10:58Speaker 2: been up to me.
- 10:58Speaker 1: He said, that's not what I expect, that's not what
- 11:02Speaker 1: I want. I want to spoke to me. I'm just
- 11:04Speaker 1: the money of my of my presence, and it's on
- 11:10Speaker 1: you and through so because I don't know how long
- 11:14Speaker 1: I'm not here, and I told me that this can't
- 11:17Speaker 1: tell you, you know what, because how old your life
- 11:19Speaker 1: and my life. So I don't know what he's doing.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I don't know how he's doing it. But I really
- 11:27Speaker 1: want to promote and spoke.
- 11:28Speaker 8: I'm gonna do my best to and I keep using
- 11:32Speaker 8: the word I am or and I have a problem
- 11:35Speaker 8: with that about that.
- 11:42Speaker 14: I don't have to get this book out here and
- 11:47Speaker 14: working on put it in in Spanish. That's my first
- 11:52Speaker 14: flanation because it needs to get to two more people.
- 11:57Speaker 14: So I would appreciate if you less see by.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Sharing any story, feel free.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Everybody has permission to share the preach, to teach anything
- 12:09Speaker 2: you want to do with the stories in this book.
- 12:13Speaker 9: Please sharing.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Like I said, why did she read your book? Don't
- 12:17Speaker 1: shut fit? Amen? Amen? Amen? And she was going to
- 12:28Speaker 1: be our first speaker. She was going to be our
- 12:34Speaker 1: first speaker of you guys. She really was going to
- 12:37Speaker 1: be our first speaker for today. But y'all, she is
- 12:43Speaker 1: I met her name up, I butchered her name. But
- 12:45Speaker 1: that lady is very special to me. I tell you how.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Met was just so it was just crazy. It was
- 12:53Speaker 4: weird because I've just come back to social media. I
- 12:56Speaker 4: have been on social media for a while, just come
- 12:58Speaker 4: back to social media, and she was one of the
- 13:00Speaker 4: first people that came on my page and was interacting
- 13:04Speaker 4: with me. And I don't know what I did to her,
- 13:07Speaker 4: but I robbed her the wrong way because she came
- 13:11Speaker 4: back and she said something to me and she got
- 13:13Speaker 4: me a check. It was because of that lady that
- 13:17Speaker 4: I did a term. I'm telling y'all. She I don't
- 13:20Speaker 4: know what it was, but she told me. She checked me,
- 13:24Speaker 4: and she said, it ain't what you say, it's how
- 13:27Speaker 4: you say it. And I tell you that thing did
- 13:32Speaker 4: something to me. And ever since we have been like this, unseparable.
- 13:39Speaker 4: She came on to write for the magazine. She wrote
- 13:42Speaker 4: for the magazine for almost two years, three years, my
- 13:46Speaker 4: apologies for three years.
- 13:49Speaker 1: She stepped down on and she got her diagnosis. How
- 13:53Speaker 1: I got the message. She called me and she said,
- 13:55Speaker 1: you know how you always say you want to write
- 13:57Speaker 1: that book about me?
- 13:58Speaker 4: She said, go ahead, and mine, she said, because they
- 14:02Speaker 4: had at that time given her, she didn't help and
- 14:06Speaker 4: just they didn't know. But yet it seemed like two
- 14:09Speaker 4: years later, but yet still here because you know, but
- 14:12Speaker 4: God didn't serve. And I'm just grateful because of people
- 14:18Speaker 4: like her, people like you guys, that sitting is wrong.
- 14:22Speaker 4: You guys are the reason why I do a lot
- 14:24Speaker 4: of other things that I do. People want to know,
- 14:26Speaker 4: how am I doing?
- 14:27Speaker 2: How do I keep going?
- 14:28Speaker 4: How with all of the things that I help him doing,
- 14:31Speaker 4: all other things that has transpired in my life. Even
- 14:34Speaker 4: with the passing of my brother in September, people wondered,
- 14:37Speaker 4: how did I keep pressing even through the loss of
- 14:41Speaker 4: my brother?
- 14:42Speaker 1: That one It took me. It did something to me.
- 14:46Speaker 4: He's the middle one in between us, and for some reason,
- 14:50Speaker 4: I just felt like he was gonna be here a
- 14:52Speaker 4: little longer.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And it shook my work.
- 14:54Speaker 4: It did something to me. But it just reminded me
- 14:57Speaker 4: of the God that reserved and I I just remember
- 15:01Speaker 4: my brother always saying, he said, don't warn me long.
- 15:06Speaker 4: He said, lay me the rest and go.
- 15:08Speaker 1: On with your life. That's something that he always said.
- 15:10Speaker 1: He said, cremate me and go on with your life.
- 15:12Speaker 4: That's what say and that's what we did. We laid
- 15:16Speaker 4: my brother to rest and we were able to carry on.
- 15:19Speaker 4: But I'm grateful for memories. It is those memories, those
- 15:22Speaker 4: things that we're able to create so that people can
- 15:25Speaker 4: have something to remembry because there's days when I don't
- 15:28Speaker 4: want to go on, but then I can sit there
- 15:31Speaker 4: and things come through my mind that me and my
- 15:33Speaker 4: brother get in some of the conversations that we had,
- 15:35Speaker 4: and it shake me out of there. Keep going because
- 15:39Speaker 4: there's something else that you're supposed to be doing. There's
- 15:41Speaker 4: something bigger than what you're going through, and it's not
- 15:45Speaker 4: about you. So that's why I'm here, And I'm grateful
- 15:48Speaker 4: because LID is giving me an outlet, and it's books,
- 15:51Speaker 4: it is podcasts, and it is being able to be
- 15:54Speaker 4: a boss, being that outlet, being that change that we
- 15:57Speaker 4: want to see in this world, because I can tell
- 16:00Speaker 4: we're saying we want to see things, but then we
- 16:02Speaker 4: don't know.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Nothing about it.
- 16:04Speaker 4: So I'm glad that we are being netnambed because a
- 16:08Speaker 4: lot of people don't understand that we are only one
- 16:11Speaker 4: percent of the population that we'll ever published, and you
- 16:16Speaker 4: guys are a part of that one percent.
- 16:19Speaker 1: You know, a lot of people say they want to
- 16:21Speaker 1: do this or want to do that, but yet they don't.
- 16:23Speaker 4: So I'm grateful for you guys that are taking that
- 16:26Speaker 4: step and have these amazing books out and these amazing.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Brands to be able to share. So, but that being said,
- 16:36Speaker 1: we welcome A l A.
- 16:38Speaker 4: C U.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So I am a visionary, clean angela, they called me,
- 16:45Speaker 1: But I'm just Angela. I just am somebody that just
- 16:48Speaker 1: want to make a difference for those that do not know.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I shouldn't even be standing before you, guys, but God
- 16:54Speaker 4: saw fit enough to see that that that I was here.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I'm shot put by the range.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Was all child.
- 17:01Speaker 4: It'll be eleven years, they said, I shouldn't even be here,
- 17:05Speaker 4: But God, and I'm grateful because you know, we have
- 17:09Speaker 4: an opportunity to important to other people and to share
- 17:13Speaker 4: this journey because you know, we read the Bible and
- 17:16Speaker 4: we see all those experiences in the Bible, but we
- 17:20Speaker 4: got experience and things too, and our experience it's not.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Gonna be got their experiences. It's gonna be a little.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Different because you know, this world has evolved a little,
- 17:29Speaker 4: so things have changed from back.
- 17:31Speaker 1: In the day.
- 17:32Speaker 4: But He's given us an example. Now we have to
- 17:35Speaker 4: give the generations coming after us example, but we can't
- 17:38Speaker 4: change the Bible, so we got to leave it through
- 17:40Speaker 4: what we're doing. We got to leave the evidence.
- 17:43Speaker 1: We have to leave it that so people can see.
- 17:47Speaker 1: So I'm grateful for this event. On today, I'm gonna
- 17:49Speaker 1: move on out the way, oh ALAC.
- 17:51Speaker 3: For those that do not know what ALC is, it
- 17:54Speaker 3: is the African American our literacy or where its campaigned.
- 17:56Speaker 4: I started getting twenty sixteen. When I became an author
- 18:01Speaker 4: for the first time. I was living in Anderson, South Carolina.
- 18:04Speaker 4: I was running a after school in a summer program
- 18:09Speaker 4: working with youth.
- 18:10Speaker 1: The kids.
- 18:11Speaker 4: My kids did not like to read, and I wondered
- 18:15Speaker 4: why they did not like to read, but they did
- 18:17Speaker 4: not relate to They said they.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Couldn't relate to none of the books that we had.
- 18:20Speaker 1: So I made it my mission to search out and
- 18:23Speaker 1: to find authors that looked like them.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Not only did I search out to find authors that
- 18:28Speaker 4: looked like that, I brought them into our program so
- 18:30Speaker 4: that these kids could see people that looked like them.
- 18:33Speaker 1: So they said they wanted a lawyer.
- 18:34Speaker 10: I brought a lawyer.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Then they wanted to cook.
- 18:36Speaker 4: I want to cook everything that the stab that told
- 18:38Speaker 4: me they wanted to see a rollet right there.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Even a young lady that came from Atlanta.
- 18:42Speaker 4: She at that time, I was living in Amveras and
- 18:44Speaker 4: that lady drove from Atlanta, just gave birth probably bout
- 18:47Speaker 4: two or three months, had her babysitting on her stomach,
- 18:50Speaker 4: and she was.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Teaching my babies how to do vision bars.
- 18:54Speaker 4: So that's what we's That's why I do what I
- 18:57Speaker 4: do because I didn't have a lot of that coming
- 19:00Speaker 4: and God has given us an outlet. He's given us
- 19:04Speaker 4: an opportunity to be back that we could that we
- 19:06Speaker 4: did not have. So I'm trying to pay it for
- 19:09Speaker 4: him and trying to give back. So that's why I
- 19:11Speaker 4: started a LAC because I wanted those babies to have
- 19:15Speaker 4: an opportunity then I did not have.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So that is the gist of why I started a
- 19:20Speaker 1: l A C. That is why we're here today to
- 19:22Speaker 1: continue to be a boys and continue.
- 19:25Speaker 4: To be a life.
- 19:26Speaker 1: So but that hen said, I think we have.
- 19:30Speaker 10: It is a.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Shineer yourself to share. Come on play all right, So
- 20:03Speaker 1: hello everyone.
- 20:07Speaker 3: My name is Shaniya Osborne. I was raised up in Augusta, Georgia,
- 20:13Speaker 3: but I'm from four lot of davies. I'm a wife,
- 20:22Speaker 3: a mother of three kids twenty eight, twenty six, and
- 20:31Speaker 3: one would be twenty.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Three this year. And I also have three grand babies.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I mean two grand babies. Sorry, one is eight and
- 20:38Speaker 1: one is three. I'm married to kid Osborne.
- 20:45Speaker 3: He's also an awful He's been an awfu way for me.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I just tell people, if it weren't for this, lady
- 20:55Speaker 3: on you. But first I want to give you honor
- 20:58Speaker 3: to God.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Because God is.
- 21:02Speaker 3: The one who allowed a lot of things to happen.
- 21:06Speaker 3: A lot of stuff happened in our lives. God is
- 21:08Speaker 3: the purpose here.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Here's the reason why we are here today because of Him.
- 21:15Speaker 1: But God used Angel. She brought me on the prayer
- 21:19Speaker 1: line five years ago. I didn't know how to pray.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I was still in the world to be Anne. I mean,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I had just got married. And she fighted me on
- 21:35Speaker 1: the prayer line and she was like, hey, come on,
- 21:39Speaker 1: get on this PRIs.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:45Speaker 1: So I end up doing the prayer line and we're
- 21:49Speaker 1: are and you it's been five years. It's been five
- 21:56Speaker 1: long years. Spiritual authen. I tell people this all the time.
- 22:02Speaker 1: When we start getting closer to God, all getting ready
- 22:05Speaker 1: cause spiritual mon faith comes.
- 22:07Speaker 15: And what I learned is in this battle, when the
- 22:13Speaker 15: devil can't come after you, he come after you yours,
- 22:18Speaker 15: and you can't getting close to you.
- 22:19Speaker 1: We come in after love. The one said you know
- 22:22Speaker 1: the most.
- 22:23Speaker 3: And that devil came after my son, he said in prison,
- 22:29Speaker 3: he got twenty five years.
- 22:33Speaker 1: And we still fighting that battle and said they And
- 22:37Speaker 1: I learned this too.
- 22:39Speaker 3: More and more you you go to another love in God.
- 22:45Speaker 3: People the devil need. So that devil is really messing
- 22:49Speaker 3: with my son.
- 22:50Speaker 2: It is can.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I just found out.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Last week that he on drugs, real bad and he
- 22:57Speaker 3: inside the prison. Inside the prison, he told me that
- 23:03Speaker 3: it's myth is myth.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That's he here. And that broke me because I'm like,
- 23:12Speaker 1: come on, come on, please, don'tthing listen geeze. But I
- 23:18Speaker 1: learned that who I learned that every financial bathe even
- 23:35Speaker 1: asking mother. It's hard. It's hard because you want the
- 23:39Speaker 1: best for your kids. You want your kids to grow
- 23:45Speaker 1: old and do the right thing. And what people don't
- 23:49Speaker 1: some people in here know. Some people don't know that
- 23:52Speaker 1: my soul is in the military, and he did.
- 23:56Speaker 2: He had issues with behaviors, asking your child he was
- 24:01Speaker 2: even born in.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Serious depression, serious at birth. And but I was a
- 24:10Speaker 3: single arm raising three kids on my own. So I
- 24:15Speaker 3: knew by putting my son in the military and getting
- 24:18Speaker 3: around other men and other you know me and to
- 24:23Speaker 3: teach him how to be a man.
- 24:27Speaker 1: He went, he joined me.
- 24:29Speaker 3: He went enough to do basic training. He was and
- 24:33Speaker 3: my family was so happy. We were so happy, all
- 24:37Speaker 3: of us. We rented a band and went up there
- 24:40Speaker 3: to celebrate him. And he was the youngest one in
- 24:44Speaker 3: that group who graduated from that basic training. And just
- 24:49Speaker 3: to even see that, I was proud. But I that day,
- 24:56Speaker 3: that day that he was over with, he was like, Mama, pretty,
- 25:00Speaker 3: I'm going back with y'all. And I said, no, Tony, oh,
- 25:04Speaker 3: you need to stay here. You need to go wherever
- 25:07Speaker 3: they want seeing.
- 25:08Speaker 1: You need to go get this. I already seen it
- 25:12Speaker 1: in the spirit. That's why I forced him to get
- 25:15Speaker 1: in the military. He came back. It was even two weeks.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Two weeks I get a phone call from the police
- 25:25Speaker 3: and said, hey, here's Robberts. At the time, I was
- 25:27Speaker 3: robbers And they said we got your son. I said
- 25:31Speaker 3: for what they said for Robert? I said, what, hey
- 25:36Speaker 3: a minute, my son is still.
- 25:38Speaker 1: In the military. What do you mean he gave a
- 25:40Speaker 1: little money. What what he said, Well, we got your
- 25:42Speaker 1: nephew and your son for rock.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 25:49Speaker 1: So he went to court. My nephew at the.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Time was fourteen, yeah, at fort he was fourteen. And
- 26:00Speaker 3: he took the plead give my son didn't. My son said,
- 26:03Speaker 3: why I.
- 26:04Speaker 15: Didn't do it?
- 26:04Speaker 1: So why would I take? Why would I take the
- 26:07Speaker 1: plea give?
- 26:09Speaker 3: So he took it the try, but they gave lonin
- 26:12Speaker 3: fifteen eighty or taking the plead plead give.
- 26:16Speaker 1: My son took it to try, and the boy say,
- 26:21Speaker 1: came up there, the young black boy.
- 26:23Speaker 3: They do all love the teacher, and he came up there.
- 26:26Speaker 3: He said, uh, it wasn't mister Roberts who had the gun.
- 26:30Speaker 1: He was the cousin. When the DA said.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Make a xampida. Look and everybody in the court room
- 26:39Speaker 3: was white. Most of 'em was white, and I'm like,
- 26:43Speaker 3: make axambido. She said, give him life, and the judge looked.
- 26:48Speaker 3: He said, nah, I ain't gonna give him life, but
- 26:50Speaker 3: I ain't gonna give him twenty five years.
- 26:53Speaker 1: The boy came up here and said it was him.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Why would you get my son?
- 26:57Speaker 3: And the judge didn't want to hear nothing. He really
- 27:00Speaker 3: throw me out the courtroom because I'm speaking up, and.
- 27:05Speaker 1: All my son can do is break down and say.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Mo, humble for that airport. You didn't listen when your
- 27:14Speaker 4: mama told you to stay in that military.
- 27:16Speaker 1: You didn't listen to me.
- 27:18Speaker 3: So he's fighting battle. He's been fighting battley. He's been
- 27:23Speaker 3: now locked up for eight years now. They diagnosed him
- 27:27Speaker 3: with stricts and praying. You're getting there talking.
- 27:29Speaker 2: To itself now.
- 27:32Speaker 4: And they say you don't drugs. I'm going to see
- 27:34Speaker 4: him tomorrow, but I really don't want to.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I really don't want to because poor mama going to
- 27:47Speaker 1: walk in and see it so inside the prison.
- 27:53Speaker 3: But I got to, and I'm taking his son with
- 27:58Speaker 3: me because my son gotta realize that you still got
- 28:02Speaker 3: to live.
- 28:03Speaker 4: You laid these to the states. So I just said, y'all,
- 28:10Speaker 4: when you start being closer to God, the DEVI would
- 28:14Speaker 4: come out and he will come after your children. But
- 28:20Speaker 4: if you stay fast, and I promise God, I said, God,
- 28:24Speaker 4: turn my children back over to you because I know
- 28:28Speaker 4: your promise in your words.
- 28:31Speaker 1: They was your children before.
- 28:32Speaker 10: They was minds.
- 28:34Speaker 3: So God told me you gotta fight that battle, and
- 28:38Speaker 3: fighting that batty is staying on your hands, praying for
- 28:41Speaker 3: your children, keeping your son in prayer, but you continue
- 28:45Speaker 3: to keep pushing for yourself.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Because I got him. So I just say God been
- 28:54Speaker 1: good to me. No matter what stores I go to,
- 28:57Speaker 1: what storms I go.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Through, I'm still going trust God. I'm still gonna walk
- 29:02Speaker 3: in my purpose wherever God is taking me. And I
- 29:07Speaker 3: just thank Angela for giving me an opportunity because it
- 29:12Speaker 3: was Angela who pushed me to write a book, and
- 29:16Speaker 3: it took five years. It took five years, but I
- 29:20Speaker 3: go back to say, it's God. It's always on God's
- 29:26Speaker 3: time and it's never on my time. So I just
- 29:30Speaker 3: want to tell you guys, no matter if you see
- 29:32Speaker 3: me up here crying, it's okay.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I'm okay. I know God got my son. I know
- 29:40Speaker 1: God got me in his hands.
- 29:42Speaker 3: I'm gonna be okay. I'm just gonna keep my son
- 29:47Speaker 3: prayed up. I'm gonna see him tomorrow and I'm definitely
- 29:50Speaker 3: gonna pray. We definitely gonna pray tomorrow and allow him
- 29:55Speaker 3: to see his son.
- 29:57Speaker 7: And just.
- 30:00Speaker 3: There because God is still goodness no matter what storm
- 30:03Speaker 3: my ghost.
- 30:04Speaker 1: So I thank y'all for even being in this room
- 30:09Speaker 1: to day being an offer. I never thought I was
- 30:13Speaker 1: gonna get to that point. My husband, he's you know,
- 30:19Speaker 1: when I married my husband, he was already an offer.
- 30:22Speaker 1: But just even now seeing it for myself and it's
- 30:26Speaker 1: like why.
- 30:28Speaker 3: It's like wow, because God can truly truly use anybody.
- 30:34Speaker 3: And I'm the first in my family to be an author.
- 30:38Speaker 3: So I thank God for using me to even.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Break the generation curse. I'm the first.
- 30:47Speaker 3: And my mama kids has been married when it's my
- 30:50Speaker 3: second marriage.
- 30:51Speaker 1: But you know, it's okay, But I thank God. God
- 30:56Speaker 1: had to truly been amazing.
- 30:57Speaker 3: And I think, you know, God for them me being
- 31:01Speaker 3: around other ops and being in is mom because I
- 31:04Speaker 3: can feel the spirit and who that y'all all are awesome, awesome,
- 31:09Speaker 3: You got your books, y'all doing amazing things, antwages, she's
- 31:14Speaker 3: just kepting everybody.
- 31:16Speaker 1: She's just a blessing to anyone.
- 31:18Speaker 3: So I love you, guys, and I hope and God
- 31:22Speaker 3: continued to stand and blow you up and open up
- 31:27Speaker 3: men the doors for you for your books and everything
- 31:31Speaker 3: that you're doing.
- 31:32Speaker 4: I love it and seek Okay, okay, but I'm telling
- 31:42Speaker 4: you when I asked up to join us and crash,
- 31:45Speaker 4: she said.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I can't how to pray, she said, but I'll come.
- 31:48Speaker 1: But God always know what we mean when we needed.
- 31:50Speaker 4: How to live and what we're gonna go through before
- 31:53Speaker 4: we even go through, because he already know the planet.
- 31:56Speaker 4: He know everything about us before we could be even
- 31:59Speaker 4: think it. So he already knew and he had already
- 32:02Speaker 4: made a way open. So you just continue to fresh,
- 32:05Speaker 4: you continue to hold on, You continue to be who
- 32:07Speaker 4: He has.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Cowed and purpose you because He's placed you amongst people.
- 32:10Speaker 4: That will help you go through what you're going through.
- 32:12Speaker 4: So just go through so you can get to the
- 32:13Speaker 4: other side so you can help somebody.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Else get through. We got to go through so that
- 32:20Speaker 1: we can get through so that we can help somebody
- 32:22Speaker 1: else get that. So afterank God for that. So we
- 32:25Speaker 1: don't move on, y'all. We're sharing, we're sharing our brands,
- 32:28Speaker 1: We're sharing a little bit about us. That's all. We
- 32:30Speaker 1: want you to know. Who is amongst you, those that
- 32:33Speaker 1: sit amongst you.
- 32:34Speaker 10: Y'all.
- 32:35Speaker 1: We got a special person in the house. She wasn't
- 32:37Speaker 1: a part of the program, but y'all.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Know, I don't believe nobody turn God to care, and
- 32:42Speaker 4: I want you to stand up where you are, and
- 32:44Speaker 4: I want you to share just a little bit about
- 32:46Speaker 4: you because this lady right here, I'm met her about
- 32:51Speaker 4: three four years now, about three four years and this
- 32:56Speaker 4: is our first time meeting in person. Yes, but this
- 32:59Speaker 4: had can happen because she forced and she call my sister.
- 33:04Speaker 4: So I will be remiss if I did not allow
- 33:08Speaker 4: you to share.
- 33:09Speaker 1: So stand up.
- 33:10Speaker 4: You can come up here if you want to, or
- 33:12Speaker 4: you can stand right there where you are, but I
- 33:14Speaker 4: want you to share. Well, hey, y'all, I'm in Atlanta now,
- 33:21Speaker 4: so I'm originally from Brooklyn, New York, right, but I said.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Something with Georgia Beach. That's why I said. So I
- 33:32Speaker 1: am just full right now, and I.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Had press pressed to make my way to like I
- 33:41Speaker 4: know that we can do a lot of things virtually,
- 33:44Speaker 4: but there's nothing like being.
- 33:47Speaker 1: In the company of the people that you love. And
- 33:51Speaker 1: I am really the land.
- 33:54Speaker 4: For so many reasons because there are people in this
- 33:58Speaker 4: room that I connect to, you know that I have
- 34:02Speaker 4: never seen in person.
- 34:04Speaker 1: And yes, Angela is my little sister.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Now that's a little hard to leave, seeing how fine
- 34:09Speaker 4: and fly she is my little sister, and we.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Just fell in love with each other automatically.
- 34:22Speaker 4: We have a kindred spirit of loving to collaborate with
- 34:27Speaker 4: people because how many of us know you can't do
- 34:30Speaker 4: it by yourself.
- 34:32Speaker 1: But if you're trying to do it by yourself, let
- 34:35Speaker 1: me know how that's working for you. I'll tell you
- 34:38Speaker 1: it's not gonna work out too good. And what we're
- 34:41Speaker 1: gonna find is that And.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Maybe I'm speaking a little prophetically here, right, but what
- 34:49Speaker 4: we're gonna find, especially in our community, that if we
- 34:54Speaker 4: don't go back.
- 34:55Speaker 1: See I'm originally I'm a girl up from the projects
- 34:57Speaker 1: from New York. I say that on apolitics, right.
- 35:02Speaker 4: And coming from that kind of environment growing up, we
- 35:06Speaker 4: did things together as a community. Y'all know how went
- 35:10Speaker 4: somebody died, you had a fish fry, right, raised up
- 35:14Speaker 4: money for the funeral. Somebody didn't pay their rent or
- 35:18Speaker 4: couldn't pay their rent, You had a rent part And
- 35:21Speaker 4: because we felt that as a community, if something happened
- 35:25Speaker 4: to one, it happened to all of us, and we
- 35:29Speaker 4: were not going to allow ourselves to be ashamed right
- 35:33Speaker 4: in that way because something happened to somebody who.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Was a part of our community. And this is one
- 35:40Speaker 1: of the reasons that I.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Really love Angela because she is a community based person.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Everything that she do is about community and collaboration. And
- 35:51Speaker 4: so what I was going to say is that we're
- 35:54Speaker 4: going to find, especially in the hour.
- 35:57Speaker 1: That we are in right now, y'all here me.
- 36:00Speaker 4: I'm gonna say this in there with everything that we're seeing, right,
- 36:04Speaker 4: and y'all gonna be dimady depends just the same people
- 36:09Speaker 4: tell me I'm funny, but you know, for me, I
- 36:12Speaker 4: don't mean to be funny.
- 36:13Speaker 1: It's just the way I look at life, right, you know,
- 36:16Speaker 1: I just love black people. Don't y'all love us? And
- 36:25Speaker 1: never tell you why I love us. Right in the
- 36:29Speaker 1: middle of everything that.
- 36:31Speaker 12: Trump is doing, right, we are somewhere putting boots to
- 36:37Speaker 12: the ground.
- 36:41Speaker 1: I'm sad and snapping says, I'm sad. But the fad
- 36:50Speaker 1: what kind of people?
- 36:51Speaker 4: Everything that we got going on somewhere I talk about
- 36:55Speaker 4: because we said a breakdoy see that.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Us.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Everybody said the power of up power, that's the power
- 37:04Speaker 1: of us. And I don't know, I'm gonna say this
- 37:06Speaker 1: for somebody in this room, because.
- 37:08Speaker 12: No matter what they do to us, Mom, we still
- 37:13Speaker 12: keep righting that they cannot understand you have done over
- 37:19Speaker 12: the last four hundred and fifty years.
- 37:21Speaker 1: We have done everything that we can think of to
- 37:25Speaker 1: these people.
- 37:26Speaker 4: And in twenty twenty five they should be somewhere crying.
- 37:31Speaker 1: They somewhere talking about Woden fans come out, come out.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Here, the saver of us.
- 37:43Speaker 1: And so there's a power. There's power in you. Has
- 37:47Speaker 1: powered me, but there's some serious power in us us.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I want you that be you today, that there is
- 38:00Speaker 1: power in us.
- 38:02Speaker 4: If you feel because we've been heard, we all been heard,
- 38:06Speaker 4: traumatized that you just want to be alone, just want
- 38:10Speaker 4: to do stuff by yourself, don't let the enemy trick
- 38:13Speaker 4: you like that, because there.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Is more power when we are plugged in.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Okay, And if for those they may see this later on,
- 38:23Speaker 4: because I know how ambassat the rags I might find
- 38:26Speaker 4: myself on Facebook, been there, Okay, So for those that
- 38:35Speaker 4: are on Facebook watching, there's more power in us.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Get connected to somebody, Get connected.
- 38:44Speaker 4: To a group, get connected to a family, get connected
- 38:48Speaker 4: to people, because there is more.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Power in us.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I love y'all and thank you so much. Now you've
- 39:00Speaker 1: heard it. I'm telling you, get connected, get connected. And
- 39:02Speaker 1: if you need some people that the connected to you,
- 39:04Speaker 1: like something right here? One that at the movement in
- 39:07Speaker 1: the house, in the house, and then.
- 39:09Speaker 10: You got.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Same ashamed to lift other people up.
- 39:15Speaker 3: We got the distinguished author give and back to us
- 39:20Speaker 3: in the house, so we support.
- 39:25Speaker 1: That's one thing about me I told grateful for my
- 39:28Speaker 1: momsy'd my mom.
- 39:30Speaker 4: That's one thing that you can steal in me is family.
- 39:34Speaker 4: So when I meet people, you got a family to be.
- 39:38Speaker 4: I don't mean strangers. I believe that if God allowed
- 39:42Speaker 4: you across my path, there's a reason why I'm across
- 39:44Speaker 4: my past.
- 39:44Speaker 1: There's something that we're supposed to be doing.
- 39:47Speaker 4: So I try to make sure that I don't lose
- 39:49Speaker 4: connections with people if you're just connected because you just
- 39:52Speaker 4: connected because of me. Because I believe in value of
- 39:57Speaker 4: family and friendships. Relationships are something that I truly tread.
- 40:02Speaker 4: So thank you doctor Carrolly for gracing us and sharing
- 40:08Speaker 4: and pouring that into us today, because yes, you know,
- 40:12Speaker 4: they have done so much to try to break us,
- 40:14Speaker 4: and it's up to us. And I tell people all
- 40:16Speaker 4: the time, we are to change. We are to change
- 40:19Speaker 4: that we desire to see in this world.
- 40:22Speaker 1: It starts and it is with us. You know.
- 40:25Speaker 4: I stand on Jeremiah twenty nine and eleven Genesis two
- 40:28Speaker 4: and seven, because he already agrees that breath dident to
- 40:31Speaker 4: us and that that's gonna change that that's is dropping
- 40:33Speaker 4: out of the side, and then you need it already
- 40:35Speaker 4: in you, so tap.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Into it, y'all'll tap into it, tap into it. So
- 40:40Speaker 1: we're gonna keep on moving. We're gonna keep on moving
- 40:41Speaker 1: because we tight to get to our other hours. So
- 40:44Speaker 1: in order to get that, we got to do everybody
- 40:46Speaker 1: to come home and share. So next, let me stand
- 40:49Speaker 1: in the room most used to be. Next, I said,
- 40:51Speaker 1: she's gonna win and get out for the bathroom, but
- 40:53Speaker 1: we're gonna keep on moving. We don't out that she's possible.
- 41:05Speaker 4: And I called this is my man and me, this
- 41:06Speaker 4: is my half pind this year, I'll tell you I
- 41:13Speaker 4: got a little to do with her because.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I met her virtually. We met over We met over Facebook.
- 41:21Speaker 4: We will actually be tried out for a virtual monolog Yeah,
- 41:24Speaker 4: virtual mama, lad. We was on there trying to act
- 41:28Speaker 4: something that I had never done before. But I had
- 41:31Speaker 4: the opportunity to meet some amazing people. She's one of
- 41:33Speaker 4: the people that I met doing this experience and we've
- 41:38Speaker 4: been connected ever since. And I tell you.
- 41:40Speaker 1: If somebody is willing to travel for you, you gotta
- 41:43Speaker 1: stay the nective to you know.
- 41:44Speaker 4: That native travel to Murder Beach to be a part
- 41:46Speaker 4: of my birthday celebration a couple.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Of years ago. I had, y'all, I'm gone.
- 41:53Speaker 4: I just like to keep people lasting. It's okay, But
- 41:56Speaker 4: Trevida has truly been a blessing. I tell you, if
- 42:01Speaker 4: you come across me and if I see something even
- 42:03Speaker 4: you know, I'm gonna pull it at you. And if
- 42:05Speaker 4: it's somebody that don't like to.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Be pushed outside your box, don't come over here, because
- 42:11Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I'm gonna push you outside the box.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Upside left right, I'm gonna because you're gonna be doing
- 42:17Speaker 4: some stuff that your probably coptsha never live and they
- 42:20Speaker 4: probably gonna quit on me about fifty thousand times because
- 42:22Speaker 4: I know I can be rough sometimes when I see
- 42:27Speaker 4: stuff in you that need to come out, but it
- 42:30Speaker 4: out comes out of love.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Because I want to see everybody crops for I want
- 42:34Speaker 1: to he like girl and she has.
- 42:38Speaker 4: Stepped out of the box. She's one of the hosts
- 42:41Speaker 4: over on the Crew podcast. For those that do not know,
- 42:44Speaker 4: we are a part of a network.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I started about three years. We are in our third season.
- 42:52Speaker 3: We currently have nine posts on that amazing network LATA
- 42:57Speaker 3: in the back shut your hands.
- 42:59Speaker 4: We got Chining sign that the table out here showing now,
- 43:03Speaker 4: and then we got two new co hosts that has
- 43:06Speaker 4: Jordan doesn't say are part of our brief on podcast.
- 43:09Speaker 1: You got Shmiri over here, and then you got Apostle
- 43:12Speaker 1: doctor Kimberly. Y'all will just like to get tried. Just
- 43:16Speaker 1: got to trying your voice. But I'm a going like
- 43:19Speaker 1: the way and let that voice come forth. And that
- 43:21Speaker 1: is right, y'all.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I'll just tell you first off, I am not a
- 43:30Speaker 3: public speaker at all, and I'm so glad there's no
- 43:33Speaker 3: coke here because you see me.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Okay, So it's just the fact that I'm just for
- 43:39Speaker 1: eight and that's about me. Nothing extra.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Well, when I got the temporary born today and I
- 43:47Speaker 3: saw my name, I was like, okay, I kind of
- 43:51Speaker 3: knew that she was gonna ask me to speak.
- 43:54Speaker 1: I really excited about it.
- 43:57Speaker 3: However, when I saw what it said beside my name,
- 44:01Speaker 3: which meant never give up, which I.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Can tell you about that, and I'll start with In
- 44:07Speaker 1: two thousand and nine.
- 44:07Speaker 3: I had a stroke at the age of start, and
- 44:11Speaker 3: I was also diagnosed with a brand condition called r
- 44:14Speaker 3: and information.
- 44:15Speaker 1: And having a stroke kr.
- 44:17Speaker 3: And information brand angerism, reading free kids, going through a
- 44:21Speaker 3: separation that led to a divorce.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Ready have them take care of my family, sister and
- 44:28Speaker 1: my mom all at the same time, which is what
- 44:31Speaker 1: led to my struggle. It caused me the use of
- 44:34Speaker 1: my left side.
- 44:36Speaker 3: And I had a neurologist who told me to just
- 44:39Speaker 3: simply get used to not being able to use my
- 44:41Speaker 3: west side. However, being the person that I am, I
- 44:45Speaker 3: thought HERM, I don't have to get used to that,
- 44:46Speaker 3: and I don't have to get used to you. So
- 44:48Speaker 3: I need my records and I need to go to
- 44:50Speaker 3: find somebody else that's gonna help me to a new neurologist.
- 44:55Speaker 1: And she asked me how I would do one. Why
- 44:59Speaker 1: wasn't not any physical therapy? I said.
- 45:01Speaker 3: The person around also told me I didn't need it.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I could not hold a local bread, I could not
- 45:05Speaker 3: hold a cell phone.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I could not do anything. They have to tie shoe.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I couldn't have a shirt. I couldn't do anybody. This
- 45:10Speaker 1: hand was a ten, this hand was a two. And
- 45:13Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, all right, but go ma in physical therapy.
- 45:17Speaker 1: I will tell you this. That physical therapist that I had,
- 45:20Speaker 1: we didn't like each other, and I made that I
- 45:23Speaker 1: didn't like her. She didn't like me. And her words
- 45:26Speaker 1: to me.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Were, I don't get paid for you to like me.
- 45:29Speaker 3: I get paid for you to do what I tell
- 45:31Speaker 3: you could too. And she said, I will have you
- 45:34Speaker 3: walking before Christmas. I started hurt in September. I was
- 45:39Speaker 3: walking again by December the fifteenth. And I used that
- 45:48Speaker 3: to say that you will never know that I still
- 45:51Speaker 3: deal with.
- 45:52Speaker 1: This left side. Defineit because in twenty thirteen I lost
- 45:57Speaker 1: my ability to speak.
- 45:58Speaker 3: I lost my ability to decide all over again. So
- 46:03Speaker 3: doctor still said, I no idea what was going on.
- 46:07Speaker 3: It was frustrating nobody could tell me what was going on.
- 46:11Speaker 1: I was gonna get to the next thing.
- 46:13Speaker 3: They just had no clue. So it was like, Okay, God,
- 46:17Speaker 3: what am I supposed to do? No one's listening, but
- 46:21Speaker 3: I need to take care of these kids. My daughter was.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Getting ready to go off. This person was here in
- 46:26Speaker 1: high school, so she's getting ready to go off to college.
- 46:28Speaker 1: She didn't want to leave me during this time. My
- 46:31Speaker 1: mom offso kind of strug.
- 46:33Speaker 3: So I'm still trying to do everything and be everything
- 46:37Speaker 3: for everyone during all of this time. When I prayed
- 46:40Speaker 3: and I asked guy, I said, look, if you give
- 46:42Speaker 3: me today, I'll figure out what I need from today
- 46:45Speaker 3: to take till tomorrow.
- 46:47Speaker 1: What I realized in that moment was that I'm not
- 46:51Speaker 1: able to speak, but I can sing. Let me sing.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Figure out if this helps me to get my voice back.
- 46:58Speaker 3: So I'll sing around the house a song, whatever came up.
- 47:02Speaker 3: That's how I got my speech back. The doctors couldn't
- 47:04Speaker 3: tell me anything. They still don't know. Technically, I'm not.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Supposed to be walking. No, I'm not supposed to be talking.
- 47:09Speaker 1: But God always has the final say and no matter
- 47:12Speaker 1: what it is. But my thing is, no matter what
- 47:15Speaker 1: you're going through, even if.
- 47:16Speaker 3: It looks hard, even if it looks difficult, God always
- 47:19Speaker 3: has a plan for everything that you're supposed to be doing.
- 47:22Speaker 1: In two thousand and fifteen, I started college.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Now I was hesitant on doing that, but it was
- 47:30Speaker 3: a lifelong train. My daughter was in school her freshman year.
- 47:35Speaker 3: She came home by mistakenly had a conversation with her,
- 47:39Speaker 3: telling her that I had made a phone call to
- 47:42Speaker 3: that enrollment specialists at school and totally the day found everything,
- 47:48Speaker 3: and they came. I'm trying to stay in the midding.
- 47:52Speaker 3: I'm trying to stay sleep. I'm not trying to get up.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I'm not trying to go. She comes to my mom,
- 47:56Speaker 1: she's like, don't you got some good books? I don't.
- 48:00Speaker 3: She's like, okay, you're getting up, You're gonna get dress,
- 48:03Speaker 3: and we're gonna go talk to these people up to school.
- 48:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I don't wanna go. I didn't ask you that. Get up,
- 48:08Speaker 1: let's go.
- 48:08Speaker 3: So when we get out there and I'm like, okay,
- 48:11Speaker 3: well they're not gonna have anything that I'm interested in.
- 48:14Speaker 1: It's okay, it's fine.
- 48:16Speaker 3: So sitting there talking to the lady FY on the
- 48:19Speaker 3: program that I like, because my daughter was insistent, a
- 48:21Speaker 3: mommy jo, So I'm like, okay, cool, I'm doing.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I haven't been in school for nineteen years.
- 48:28Speaker 16: I have no idea what school is like, what this is.
- 48:31Speaker 16: So I had every excuse on the south. My daughter
- 48:35Speaker 16: looks sent me and she says, she.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Says, I have seen these overcome everything that has been
- 48:45Speaker 3: wrong in your way, so there's absolutely nothing that you
- 48:48Speaker 3: cannot do.
- 48:49Speaker 1: So what you're going to do is going up from
- 48:53Speaker 1: take that assessment test.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Then we're gonna go and talk to the financial aid
- 48:56Speaker 3: department because you're enrollment in school.
- 49:00Speaker 1: I said, all right, you know what, I don't mean
- 49:03Speaker 1: it was you. I'm going in there take this test.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I'm probably not gonna do too well. It is what
- 49:08Speaker 1: it is, so we're gonna be going home.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Needless to say, I pass. Says when to find that
- 49:11Speaker 3: Jade our enrolling full on my son's birthday was my
- 49:14Speaker 3: first day and class my younger which was August. Support
- 49:17Speaker 3: Now with that, me still dealing with my key I
- 49:21Speaker 3: even though in the hospital leaving school with a couple
- 49:23Speaker 3: of times.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Because Kiri is unpredictable. You just never know what you're
- 49:27Speaker 1: gonna do.
- 49:28Speaker 3: But it was supposed to take me two years to
- 49:30Speaker 3: complete my associate Instagram.
- 49:32Speaker 1: I finished it in a year nine months.
- 49:35Speaker 3: Because I pushed myself to actually do everything that I.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Was told that I will never be able to do.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Because I wasn't raised by either my mom or my
- 49:45Speaker 3: I was raised by my aunts and they're consistent. Thing
- 49:48Speaker 3: as a child growing up was that I was never
- 49:50Speaker 3: gonna amount to anything. But I'm drunk and an alcoholicist
- 49:53Speaker 3: like my mother.
- 49:54Speaker 1: But to be in this space and to be in
- 49:56Speaker 1: this room with all of you guys, lets me know
- 49:59Speaker 1: that God a bigger plan and a bigger purpose for me.
- 50:02Speaker 1: So you know, even though I ever.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Sid when I met Anthela doing that monologue, I will
- 50:11Speaker 3: tell you this, I never expected to get apart. Then
- 50:15Speaker 3: I never expected to get apart when I got because
- 50:18Speaker 3: the lady who got apart was mismotivation. Okay, my part
- 50:24Speaker 3: in the next play was to be a mean girl
- 50:27Speaker 3: in somebody else's part.
- 50:31Speaker 1: I praised and my eyes did and I said.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Listen, I'm not in that space to be mean, So
- 50:36Speaker 3: what do I do. I have to find that in
- 50:40Speaker 3: some space And I didn't know where I was gonna
- 50:42Speaker 3: get it from. And I was like, I can't be
- 50:45Speaker 3: mean to somebody, regardless of if I'm acting or not.
- 50:48Speaker 3: That's just not where I am low and behole. The
- 50:51Speaker 3: lady who got the part of this motivation ended up
- 50:55Speaker 3: dropping out or whatever her reason was.
- 50:58Speaker 1: I got the part and it was just it wasn't
- 51:01Speaker 1: a speaking part. So I was like, I can do
- 51:03Speaker 1: what it's the same, no problem, and I ain't gotta talk.
- 51:06Speaker 1: I just got to act out what it's doing, and
- 51:08Speaker 1: it was basically the character was getting a new job.
- 51:13Speaker 1: So I'm like, cool, I can act that out. Then
- 51:15Speaker 1: she comes back, she says, yeah, you gotta extend that part,
- 51:20Speaker 1: and you're gonna have to say something. I'm gonna have
- 51:23Speaker 1: to do. What do? What? A?
- 51:26Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 51:27Speaker 1: No, I don't have anything to say. I don't know
- 51:29Speaker 1: what to do.
- 51:31Speaker 3: And so I thought about it the bread and ask.
- 51:34Speaker 3: I said, you know what, it's basically.
- 51:37Speaker 1: What I do, what you're wanting. When I'm prepared for work,
- 51:40Speaker 1: I talked to you. I talked about what I was
- 51:43Speaker 1: planned to do, how I want my day to go.
- 51:46Speaker 1: You know, it don't always go away that men can
- 51:48Speaker 1: talk about. But that's what I don't do. So we
- 51:51Speaker 1: had our dress rehearsal. So I was like, okay, let's
- 51:55Speaker 1: say a day like this. So y'all, I didn't always
- 51:58Speaker 1: to feel.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Like putting on my moon, earring my clothes and all
- 52:03Speaker 3: of that getting ready to go to care for the job.
- 52:07Speaker 3: And I'm singing and doing all kind of stuff that
- 52:10Speaker 3: I do when I getting ready for work.
- 52:12Speaker 5: And they were like, that's awesome, we gonna do that. Okay, great,
- 52:18Speaker 5: all right, So the day comes for us to do
- 52:21Speaker 5: the play, and I had the most.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Horrible pay I had a harbor Kyr and Clara that morning,
- 52:29Speaker 3: and I'm like, God, I still have to get this done.
- 52:32Speaker 3: I don't want anybody to see the pain that I'm in,
- 52:35Speaker 3: so help me to get through this.
- 52:37Speaker 1: I don't know how we're gonna make it, but I
- 52:40Speaker 1: have heard it. I am literally in pain. And the
- 52:44Speaker 1: day of our play was actually my birthday, and so
- 52:47Speaker 1: I was like, Lord, we gonna make this happen. So
- 52:52Speaker 1: showtime came. It was eight o'clock that night, and I
- 52:56Speaker 1: didn't build it up.
- 52:58Speaker 3: No one knew them and out because it did not display.
- 53:03Speaker 3: So that will give you everything that you're asking for.
- 53:06Speaker 3: He prepared every single that we have to get in
- 53:09Speaker 3: this life. The problem is that we think that we
- 53:12Speaker 3: have to see the binger picture. All we need is
- 53:14Speaker 3: to compose the piece that the next to the next one.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Everything that God places in your life.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Is for you can take it to the next. Lesson.
- 53:22Speaker 3: I never pay attention to what you're currently going through,
- 53:25Speaker 3: and you're thinking that it's just the end of the world.
- 53:28Speaker 1: It's not.
- 53:29Speaker 3: It's something that needs so that God comparing you to
- 53:32Speaker 3: the next position. So never give up, never pull up
- 53:36Speaker 3: man tells you you cannot do God about ways in
- 53:40Speaker 3: the front, and you always knows what she has for
- 53:43Speaker 3: you on the other side.
- 53:44Speaker 1: So stay focused and stay the course. And I would
- 53:48Speaker 1: read you stay out of guy's business. The only thing
- 53:52Speaker 1: he needs you to do with the obedience for what
- 53:54Speaker 1: he sells you. Amen. And she has truly been a
- 54:06Speaker 1: lesson to me because she keeps me going to next
- 54:10Speaker 1: we have.
- 54:14Speaker 4: I find her my covering because she covers our program
- 54:19Speaker 4: and she could be anywhere her but she could her
- 54:22Speaker 4: every morning at.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Five a m. To come and cover us.
- 54:30Speaker 4: So I thank God for her, and she has truly
- 54:33Speaker 4: been a lesson to me. She has traveled to her
- 54:36Speaker 4: beach to be a part of several events. I've been
- 54:40Speaker 4: down to Tallahassee. We just go back before. She's a
- 54:45Speaker 4: great mentor. She's been a great still Jamm. So I
- 54:50Speaker 4: love for her to share her journey because she has
- 54:53Speaker 4: an amazing testimony and what God is doing in her
- 54:56Speaker 4: life and how He allowed her to pour into others.
- 55:01Speaker 1: I truly I'm breaking for her.
- 55:03Speaker 4: So without further ado, I would like to introduce to
- 55:07Speaker 4: you guys my spiritual mom actor, Doctor Apostle Kimberly Thomas,
- 55:22Speaker 4: A good afternoon everyone.
- 55:24Speaker 3: I have the task of the power of our voice,
- 55:29Speaker 3: and it has been spoken. It has resounded through this
- 55:32Speaker 3: room ever since we have been here. Today, when I
- 55:36Speaker 3: look around and I see the titles of the literary projects, struggle, Struggles, struggle,
- 55:46Speaker 3: the music cage.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Forged in finding.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Free from broken beginning, and warrying women and men, and
- 56:01Speaker 3: the only thing that I can think of is, we
- 56:03Speaker 3: are exercising our voices. We are giving power to our voices.
- 56:09Speaker 3: So many testimonies have come forth in here today of resilience,
- 56:15Speaker 3: so much that we have so.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Much in common as women, even as men, as.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Authors, the things that we have gone through in our lifetime,
- 56:24Speaker 3: our suffering, the things that we have experienced as young women,
- 56:29Speaker 3: as young adults, the things that some of us may
- 56:32Speaker 3: still experience in our life. But the most powerful thing
- 56:36Speaker 3: is to break our silence, to be able to break
- 56:39Speaker 3: your silence, to be able to come out of the cage,
- 56:43Speaker 3: to be able to know that you are free, and
- 56:46Speaker 3: their's freedom. And in your transparency, in giving your testimony,
- 56:52Speaker 3: you are allowing somebody else to be free. You are
- 56:55Speaker 3: allowing somebody else to come out of their cage. You're
- 56:58Speaker 3: letting them know it's okay to break your silence. Shame
- 57:02Speaker 3: no longer has to have be bound. You don't have
- 57:04Speaker 3: to be bound by your abuse. You don't have to
- 57:07Speaker 3: be bound by your addiction. You don't have to allow
- 57:09Speaker 3: the shame of your past to keep you in a
- 57:12Speaker 3: place of bondage.
- 57:14Speaker 1: But you can be free. And our doctor over here
- 57:19Speaker 1: in the corner, she said it best power is in us.
- 57:27Speaker 3: The power is in us.
- 57:29Speaker 1: The word tells us that we have the power of
- 57:33Speaker 1: death and life in our tone, and so we have power.
- 57:37Speaker 3: And when we come together in unity, there's so much power.
- 57:42Speaker 3: There's so much power in your voice. Even if you
- 57:46Speaker 3: have a whisper, there's power. You have to know how
- 57:51Speaker 3: to release it into the atmosphere. Begin to speak those
- 57:56Speaker 3: things that are not as though they are, and see
- 57:59Speaker 3: them come to pass, and.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Know that you have power in your voice. Y'all used
- 58:13Speaker 1: to the tap. Put me in, coach, put a coach,
- 58:20Speaker 1: Put me in coach, Put me in y'all for that.
- 58:23Speaker 1: For those that don't know, I used to fall. I
- 58:26Speaker 1: used to be a hoopers back in
